Starting point is 00:00:34 Thanks so much for coming back. Let's just jump right into it. Here we go. See, you can have voices for good or voices for evil, you know? Damn. Yeah, that shot. Look at that. Wow.
Starting point is 00:00:51 You can make a religion out of this. Dude. That was amazing. Wow. Wow. Ha, ha, ha, ha. What have we here? Science.
Starting point is 00:01:08 Science. Oh, oh, oh, oh. Oh, God, cancerous cell division. Is that what that is? It looks similar. Looks a lot like it, yeah. Oh, we got some monstrosity. Oh, John.
Starting point is 00:01:21 What the hell was that? Oh, geez. Was that the singed guy? What was his name? Yeah. Yeah, I think that might have been singed. I think I know what's coming. or like what character's coming, but I'm curious to see.
Starting point is 00:01:32 I was wondering if that thing had anything to do with the formerly cute, but then not so cute, large salamander-looking thing. Oh, the salamander thing? Yeah. Oh, the mutation. The mutation that he was trying so desperately to keep alive. Under no circumstance made the mutation die. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:51 But. Well, he's clearly like trying to do some crazy human hybriding or hybridization, Because that's kind of, I think what he was kind of doing in trying to keep the mutation alive was he was using it to make the shimmer. The shimmer. And so now he's got whatever those weird anthropomorphic
Starting point is 00:02:10 animals were in the cave from the end of the last episode. Now he's like pulling them apart and then doing weird cell division stuff. Right. So he seems to be trying to hybridize people. I was just reminded of the structure. So Arcane season one, the first three episodes, set
Starting point is 00:02:26 up the adventure of the show for the next four episodes and then and then after that is your denouement right the last episode the the climax and closure and so I just realized we're still in the set up uh-huh we're seeing some cool shit like we haven't even gotten anywhere yet like no cool stuff is next week yeah that's what's crazy um but yeah what was sorry you're going to say something no no no I agree with you that is exactly what we're doing here because like first episode it you know did not have jinx at all And then here we're setting up Jinks and her new team with, like, little... Selvica, is that her name?
Starting point is 00:03:05 I think, yeah, is that her name, Selvika? I recognize the helmet she's wearing, and my first instinct is it looks very similar to another character in the game world called Timo. Oh, Savika, sorry. But I'm also curious if it's a reference to Powder earlier. Did Powder have a hat when they were little that she wore? Yes, I think so, yes. Look, I think it looks very similar to Powder's hat in the first three episodes.
Starting point is 00:03:31 It might have just looked like a hair. It might just be, it might just be her hair. It may just be weirdly referencing something in my brain that I don't recognize. Yeah, she just had like a cute little short haircut. Yeah, yeah, maybe I'm crazy. But like there is, there is something about this new kid character that is very reminiscent of a young powder. And so, yeah, that's definitely on purpose. But you know what I found so fascinating?
Starting point is 00:03:56 like watching the team come together in this episode. I think the characters are so interesting that even though I know that they're the antagonists, like they're the bad guys, they're still a part of me that is rooting for them because they're so cool. Yeah, I agree. Like when Seveka got her arm and like she, and when she like comes in and saves jinx, it's like, yes, you know? Like, oh my God, she's so cool.
Starting point is 00:04:25 she's like right now she's so overpowered and everything and yeah i i don't know like there is a part of me that is still really rooting for powder slash jinx i want her to turn around even though i'm fully aware that this girl murdered a bunch of people um you know there's a i said this when i watched this with uh cintel for season one i often forget that i'm watching women on screen you know what i'm I don't even think about the gender when I'm watching them. I'm just seeing dope characters, really great. And I really appreciate that about the show. I don't know what it is where I just forget, you know, men and women.
Starting point is 00:05:06 Because, like, you know, it's oftentimes today in movies, like, it's so emphasized, like, that's a woman, that's a guy. And these are my female struggles. These are my male struggles. Whereas, like, these are just people. And I love that about the show. Yeah, it's never about, like, them being women in this society or them being men in this society. I mean, it even establishes in the first season, like, a good majority of the council, is female.
Starting point is 00:05:25 Right. And that's just like part of the society. Right. It never like talks about it or makes any of their existence about their struggle as a gender in this world. So it's just about their struggles as people in this world. No matter who they are. Yes, exactly.
Starting point is 00:05:40 Like all of the things that they address in the show, like or the things that they do. Their struggles? Yeah, the struggles or even like the relationships and stuff like that. It's always just like. Universally. It just is. And that's what I love about content like this, where it's like, okay, yeah, we might be doing things like, you know, the relationship between Vi and Caitlin or whatever, you know, some people, I know how you feel about it. But you know, like some people might be like, oh, why do we have to have that or like, you know, because that's always a thing that comes up.
Starting point is 00:06:12 But it doesn't feel shoehorned in. No. It's just like. It's not making a statement. It's just who they are. And that's, and I think that's the best way to do anything. It's like, let's create the world that we want to see. And we don't have to draw attention to it.
Starting point is 00:06:27 It just is. The closest that it came to doing a statement that I detected was the tree thing and the environmental message. Yeah. That's the closest it came. Like when you mentioned the nuclear overtones and like the tree, I'm like, oh, okay, I guess there's an environmental message to the whole thing that I didn't even think about in watching in season one. Well, yeah, because like I just recently rewatched season one. And as they were showing, you know, Victor and Jace demonstrating their new tech and everything,
Starting point is 00:06:56 I was like, this really feels like nuclear weapons, you know, like something that was made for the good of people and not made, or even like gunpowder. You know, like the Chinese invented gunpowder for fireworks. And then it was like, oh, we can actually use that to kill people, you know. And it's just, it's just very human. Of course, all of this, never mind the massive, overarching socioeconomic commentary of Piltover versus Zahn and all that jazz. Yeah, but the class, sorry, the class is done in such a way that it doesn't feel like I'm being brow, it doesn't feel like it's browbeating me. Yeah, yeah. I fully agree.
Starting point is 00:07:37 I fully agree with you that like the messaging of the show and the theming of the show doesn't make it feel like, oh, we're just going to jam a moral down your throat. Yeah. Yeah. And it's like, because the characters are. are so interesting and we really care about them. It's like, I don't know, like, when I hear, like, the people from top side talk about the people from the lanes, from the lanes, it's like, yeah, you're part of the problem, though. Like, do you not see what you're doing?
Starting point is 00:08:07 And now it's, like, way too late because you've treated them so badly this whole time. Why should they trust you? They're really good because they just show you both sides of the situation and, like, you've got characters on one side that you're like, oh my gosh, like, I really feel for you. And then same on the other side. And so it's just like, it's so interesting because we're just on this journey. And it's like, okay, well, what's going to happen now? You know, they are very efficient with their storytelling because these are not long videos.
Starting point is 00:08:38 They're actually quite brief when you think about it. It's like, this one is less than 40 minutes. But so much was covered in that time. That also includes the intro by Imagine Dragons. Like, so much is covered in that time. They are so efficient with their storytelling. I'm so excited for episode three. So you guys, thanks so much for hanging out.
Starting point is 00:08:57 Hopefully enjoyed that, too. I'm Jabby Koi. This is Michael Boose. Achara Cook. Peace out.
