Starting point is 00:00:00 Sina. Pals. What's up, everybody? Dawn of the planet of the apes going down right now. Let's get to it. Oh, he's all psyched. Now do you all see what you... I'm glad Maurice survived.
Starting point is 00:00:17 I'm glad it was only a great. I was so scared he would not. Oh. That's a great shot. That's amazing. All right. Well, what a second installment. Less tears from you.
Starting point is 00:00:27 That's good. Yeah, I got three tissues. Last time. Three tissues. Last time, I don't even know how many I used. It was the whole movie. I mean, like. It was.
Starting point is 00:00:39 It was the entire film. It really was. But, like, you know, the theme of this was different. It was very. It was less about them, like, you know. It wasn't as like. Vying for a good life and fighting for freedom and more about them, like, staking their claim. And the moral issues of, like, us versus them.
Starting point is 00:01:00 versus apes? Are they a civilization? Neither are better than the other. Can we coexist? And I think that like that really comes down to a lot of like the human experience is we as humans are very good at the you versus me thing. We figured out how to like come together and work together. But we're very bad at the us versus them thing and overcoming that. You know, you have this apocalyptic disease that throws society into chaos. And so now all of the humans are coming together from different walks of life and are like we need to survive, but then the moment, the moment that they are presented with another entity outside of them, it starts budding heads. And, you know, it also plays to the theme of like, Caesar was saying. Both parties are scared, though. Yeah, both parties are
Starting point is 00:01:42 scared. I mean, COBA, at least in the beginning, made some really valid points. He did. And here's thing, I can't be upset with COBA, but I'm upset with COBA, but I can't be. Right. Right. Because it's like, it's like, I get it. You know, if that's all you've seen, that's all you've witnessed and been around like yeah i'd feel that way too yeah you know if you haven't had the option and he hadn't the opportunity to see even both like a slight a sliver of kindness from the humans he didn't get to see that yeah two-sided thing i think coba tried i think coba really tried i think he tried and the moment he saw the weapons he was just like do we're going to die i don't want to go back to what they did to me and i think anybody in their right mind would feel that way yeah absolutely i think
Starting point is 00:02:27 I think it was well-written and Coba's character stayed true to who he was throughout. I mean, like, all the characters did. And that's a testament to the writing. But I think Coba is an excellent antagonist. I hesitate to say villain. I don't think he's a villain. Yeah, because he played right to his character. He did everything that seemed rational and logical to him.
Starting point is 00:02:50 And he was looking out for the new ape society's best interest. And I think that's, again, a big test. to the writing of this is that he's very much a sympathetic character despite being like angry and bloodthirsty. And the part where, um, Kobe shot Caesar, it's interesting because I didn't feel shit at first. Okay. I was like, no. But then I was like, there's no way. There's no way. And I, and I called the bullshit bluff on this film, okay? Because if they really were going to kill Caesar, okay, they would have made it a lot more dramatic. and they would have taken their time with it and it was so quick that I was like
Starting point is 00:03:31 he didn't give me time to be like and I was like no and I was like bullshit he's coming back but then we went and got closer and he wasn't breathing yeah so you thought you thought you guys did me dirty
Starting point is 00:03:46 like you're like because I don't know anymore I've been had so many twists and turns lately with the film industry that I'm like I don't know what the hell you guys are going to do I don't know Surprise, this movie's about blue eyes taking over. Yeah, no, no, it's like I normally feel like I can predict things pretty easily.
Starting point is 00:04:05 And now I'm questioning myself because I'm having some issues with some of these films I've watched recently, especially recently. Dude, one gave me nightmares for five days. So anyways, I'm thinking they're going to go deep down and they're like, oh my God, and then they're going to, like, you know, and then as we go, I was like, what? And then I was going to feel sorry. There's no way they just chewed me that hard. Yeah. And then he came back like, I was like,
Starting point is 00:04:33 who, phew, ha, ha. Like, how funny would have that been? Right. Dodged a bullet there. Caesar didn't, but we did. Yeah, or I thought he was like, I was like, meh, ha, ha, ha.
Starting point is 00:04:44 Sorry. Anyway, so I thought that, like, I don't know, my brain was like, it's been really, really good. I had a point I was going to make. Oh, I am so sorry. Going back to Caesar's death and him just, like, kind of disappearing
Starting point is 00:04:54 and being like, ah, there's no way he's dead. I'm certain COBA is coming back. I think so too. I'm certain because they had the opportunity for him to just go straight down. And they didn't. They showed you. And he bounced on the cable and he landed on something and then that thing fell. We're on the same page.
Starting point is 00:05:10 I'm certain. I am certain that COBA is coming back. He's not dead. I'm putting money on it right now. Like he's going to be a third act reveal in the next one. Like 20 bucks on that. Maybe he'll come. And you know what?
Starting point is 00:05:22 Yeah, I felt the same way because if they wanted to eliminate him, they would go boom. Instead, they showed all these things. where it's like he could have survived. Now, he might come back and redeem himself. You're thinking redemption arc? Yes. I'm thinking, I'm not thinking coming back as a villain or a bad guy or whatever, recruiting, what I'm thinking as he's going to make a come.
Starting point is 00:05:46 The way they left it, though, it was kind of rough. I know. I'm thinking if he does show up in the next movie, it's as like a last chance try to get revenge on Caesar for like ruining his life. life and siding with the humans. I mean, maybe there might, well, okay, he might have his own team because after the war starts going down, right? Because it's about to get really ugly.
Starting point is 00:06:06 Yeah. There will be some apes that will stray and maybe run away and then find him and then go to his side. Or maybe he'll think long and hard and maybe, you know, it'd be really cool is if a human found him and nursed him back to health and showed him true love. He finally got that human then love. And then he goes, he goes, oh my God, why are you being so nice? me, they're like, he's like,
Starting point is 00:06:27 and they're like, it's okay, there you go. And then they start, they give him kisses. Oh, my God. Everything can be solved with a kiss on the forehead. I'm telling you. It works for me. I don't care how mad at him. You hug me.
Starting point is 00:06:39 And you give me a little kiss on the cheek. I'll be like, ooh, okay, I think of you. You love me. I'm hoping maybe we can get something good. Right, going for Kobe. Coba? I am super excited for the next one. I am definitely a fan.
Starting point is 00:06:55 You all let us know. what you've, like, your thoughts? Because I think I am a Planet of the Apes fan. I also heard that the ones, like the OG ones. Yeah. Because I was talking to my sister about it. And I was like, don't tell me anything. And she was like, okay.
Starting point is 00:07:12 And so she was telling me, she was like, I'm just going to tell you about the OG real quick. She's like, I just think you guys need to do the OG ones from the start. Okay. So apparently, if you watch the ones, I don't know. You guys let us know in the comments on. She's like, I mean, if you go down. doing the original ones. Yeah, if it's worth doing the original.
Starting point is 00:07:28 I mean, she did say that where we're starting might ruin the full experience for us. Okay. Interesting. But she did say that she feels like we should have started with the OGs of Planet of the Apes because we would have just been in awe and like on a whole other high. Got it. Okay. How they've evolved and whatnot.
Starting point is 00:07:48 And I was like, really. Interesting. That's interesting. But if you're starting here, I feel like it's going to ruin the magic. And I'm like, okay, because my younger sister, she is. a film like she's intense she's like no girl a big
Starting point is 00:08:01 no growing up she's the one that you never wanted to be around if a new film came out and she saw it before you because she just spoil everything and go deep dive oh yeah she is like star magazine like like doesn't know how to hold her tongue like blah blah I was very impressed that she didn't that she held back she did I was like
Starting point is 00:08:18 dodjo dare oh I made it clear and then I blocked her number Justin Kaye no more talking not until we're done with this series she decided I told her, I was like, I won't block you until I'm done. She's like, she's our life. She was, I promise I won't. Yeah, right?
Starting point is 00:08:33 Now the question becomes, do we watch Kingdom in theaters or do we wait until we can watch it here? Exactly. Because it might be a while before your sister is unblocked. Oh, my gosh. I know. I told her when she goes and she watches and whatever, do not tell me a damn thing. Don't talk about it. Don't breathe about it. Don't look at it.
Starting point is 00:08:52 Anyways, you guys let us know your thoughts on that. Just out of curiosity. Because if you feel that we need to go down that route, blast it and let us know because we're on board. We're on board. I'm full soul. And I bet you feel so jip that you never went to any of those parties. Yeah, I do. I do.
Starting point is 00:09:11 I do feel like I missed out. But now I get to experience it with you. I get to be emotional support. True. You know, so I'm happy I'm here. If you don't know what we're talking about, go watch the first one. And he talks about his friend who threw these elaborate, insane. Like, they sound like fire.
Starting point is 00:09:28 They're good. We throw good parties. And he didn't go. Yeah, I didn't. Because he was going to run up. Find Christmas Sous Pino in the future and go through it together because I needed somebody to hold my hand. I had an inkling. I needed someone to cry with who could hold down the fort.
