Senna. Pals.
What is going on, everybody?
I'm Jabbit Kauai, joined by a Cherok.
What's up?
We are continuing forward with Echo.
Echo, echo, echo.
Stop it.
My mom asked last night, what's Echo?
And my sister proceeded to tell her, I'm like, that's the wrong response.
You should have been like, after she asks, what's echo, you go, what's echo?
No, you just say what's that?
You said back.
Oh, I would have added the echo.
Just to drive the point home.
See, you don't know how to funny.
That's so cool, like, how her whole lineage is kind of coming together.
It influences the skills and stuff that she has.
I don't know.
That's kind of what I'm getting from, you know, the visual that they're showing.
This kind of gives the feeling of like Avatar, The Last Airbender or something in a way.
I guess.
I'm just thinking more of, like, ancestry.
Ancestry.com.
Yeah, ancestry.com.
Well, yeah, no.
But, like, you know, just how we are kind of all of those people that came before us.
and it's such a cool way of showing that.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I like it.
I like it.
Anyway, what did you think?
It's cool.
It's all right.
It's all right?
I don't know.
It's just like, it's okay.
We've had these shows like Daredevil or Hawkeye or whatever,
and they're always in like a big city, usually in New York.
You know, we had She Hulk in L.A.
But this time, it's like we get to see her in her small town.
in Oklahoma and have that be front and center and just kind of seeing how these different characters
exist in this world and the things that they're doing, I'd find it really interesting.
Like, it's really fun and they're all kind of quirky.
Like, I enjoy her grandpa, Scully.
I think he's really fun, you know, like all that stuff in the beginning with the white people
in the store I thought was just really funny.
Yeah.
And biscuits.
I like biscuits.
Biscuits is hilarious.
Yeah, I like biscuits.
Like, he's really cute, and, you know, he's kind of in over his head.
He must be protected at all costs.
I haven't spent too much time with Native Americans.
Like, only a handful.
One was, like, a lady that I dated, and I don't think she really identified with Native American culture.
She, because she was part black.
I think she identified more with black culture.
And then I ran into the lady that played Pocahontas in the New World.
Oh, okay.
Like, that's the amount of.
of exposure I've properly had to Native Americans in my life, right? And so I have no idea how
much this speaks to their reality in terms of what it's borrowing from like reality. For some
reason, I'm having a hard time buying into the drama. I'm not sure what's in my way. Well, it hasn't.
I don't think it's fully happened yet. Like right now, I feel like this episode is just kind of
setting up her reality. There's five episodes in total. And so I'm like every episode effing counts.
You know what I mean?
And so when I see that, I'm like, okay, episode two out of five, I'm still not...
Well, I guess then what it is establishing is like, you know, the people around her in this town.
And then also this element of magic, which is different, you know?
Yeah, that's...
Because that was unexpected, because I was, I thought that this was going to be...
Really? I mean, they set it up.
They did, but I didn't think it would happen to her.
Do you know what I mean?
Like, I...
Because I didn't.
And starting off with this show,
And it being kind of connected to daredevil, I thought that it would kind of have more...
Stay street level?
Yeah, stay street level.
And so now we've got that more like magical thing that's happening, which I think is really interesting.
Something's in my way.
Don't know how to articulate it.
That's it.
That's like I don't know how to expand on the feeling.
It's just like there's stuff.
And so I start to notice little things that and my brain starts to get persnickety about dumb stuff.
Like, why aren't they talking?
They're all whispering.
they're all whispering when they're doing the sign language
and I'm like, she's the only one that really
needs to be whispering, if anything.
Have you ever hung out with people who sign?
Like, speaking people who sign?
Okay, to be, no, but to be, like,
I might just be influenced by other movies and shows.
But generally speaking, when a person who's not deaf
is speaking to a person who's deaf
and using sign language, they will sign and talk out loud usually.
I've hung out with someone who signs and is...
They whisper?
Yeah.
Or they just don't speak.
Yeah, I would, like, go over there, just whispering.
It's like, why, you don't need to.
Do you know what I mean?
All this is saying, that's a persnickety-ass thing.
And it's not a really good, genuine complaint.
It's just a thing I'm noticing.
Right.
And the fact that my mind is going there means, like, I'm not connecting with something.
Sure.
I don't know if it's the quality or if there's, like, green screen, but then I get distracted
by that.
Like, that scene where he's arguing with her at the house.
Uh-huh.
I'm like, was this a pickup?
Because it looks like green screened to me.
Why am I thinking about this?
That's what's going on.
Oh, you know what I thought in that?
scene though because you were complaining about like why isn't he verbalizing more like why isn't he
actually speaking and he's just whispering the last line he said which I completely forgot yeah I was
like oh was that ADR because his voice quality just kind of sounded super smooth at that point
that was one thing that I did kind of you shouldn't be noticing that these things these are
things we should not be thinking about or noticing for the most part we should be so
wrapped up in the stakes and the drama and whatever's happening in the journey that
That's like, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, but the journey is so profoundly interesting that you don't care.
Well, I think, you know what I mean?
For me.
Sure, but I think maybe in this next episode, episode three, we'll get Fisk coming back in as the big bad, you know?
Like, he's a profoundly interesting bad guy, at least in Daredevil, right?
And so I hope we get that level of Wilson Fisk in this show.
I want to compliment one thing about the show, which is the score.
Lady. No, that was not what I was going to say. What I was going to say was, I'm glad this doesn't feel like cliff notes. That's the one thing. That's the one complaint I have about Disney Plus shows, as I often felt they feel so truncated. It just feels like a cliff notes of a show as opposed to an actual show. Like, I feel like I'm watching this thing lived in. It doesn't feel like anything's being rushed. For some reason, I don't care yet. And I feel like I should. You know, that's it. I want to. I want to.
That's it.
So, you guys, thanks so much.
Hopefully, you guys are enjoying it.
I feel like I'm going to see comments
where people are going, Jabby,
I love it.
I feel like I'm going to see those comments.
You know what, but you stay true to yourself, Jabby,
because I'm sure there are people out there
who agree with you.
I'm still kind of like, honestly,
I'm having a good time with it.
I'm enjoying what I can from it, you know?
But like, I see your points
There are some things where I'm like, eh, it's a little strange, those choices.
But, okay, I'm going to, I'm going to roll with it and just kind of see what happens next.
It's not put me off to the point where I'm like, I'm going to rage quit this show.
You know what I mean?
I'm still like, yeah, yeah, I want to see what happens next, you know?
All right, guys, peace out.
