Sinha. Pals.
Very excited to get back into Fallout.
We're on season one episode for The Gools.
Here we go.
You know, it had to be that his movies were just so ubiquitous.
Everybody knew who he was.
Yeah, no, I think so.
You get that sense, especially from the first episode when they were all like,
oh, I can't believe he's doing kids' birthday parties now, you know.
It had to be on par with.
something like John Wayne or you know yeah one of those types um trying to think of other you know
clean Eastwood yeah clean East yeah clean East yeah I was trying to go for someone else but yeah
oh I don't know Gary Cooper or something who's the guy from Gone with the Wynn again
car cable yeah it's like the one of those classic type actors it's just like Hollywood star exactly
and it's like how how could he possibly be working a kids party you know it's interesting
watching his face as he's looking at that it's like oh my
Gosh, how does he feel about that?
Especially knowing how adverse he was to shooting someone dead in the movie to then, like, actually do it.
I feel like it doesn't align with his values.
I feel like he probably didn't really feel that strongly about the communists, you know?
I'm not saying that he was one himself, but he was probably...
Sounds like that's exactly what you're implying a charter.
Maybe he was just like, they're just people, you know, and like, I don't want to get involved.
in this, but somehow he was kind of like roped in to doing things, like by his wife and being
the poster child of Voltaic and all of that. It must be so strange to then be face to face
with your past self and then be like, oh God, look what I become. I'm out here just like taking
tons of pills and drinking loads of vials of whatever the hell he's putting into his body
in order to maintain. I'm loving the show so much. You know, me too. I'm really, I'm
thoroughly enjoying it. And I have to keep saying it, but, you know, after all of the hubbub about
it may be being not good because it was all released at once, that's proven to be quite false so
far. Yeah. You know, and what a relief. Because it's just such an enjoyable program. It's like,
you're going through it and you're learning things about these characters and they're just slowly
revealing stuff, like a trail of M&Ms for E.T. That's the type of storytelling that I really
love, especially when it's a show that is kind of like a mystery, I love when the writers keep
us guessing because I don't want it to be so predictable. I want to keep asking the questions.
I want to like scratch my head and be like, why are the characters doing that? What's going on?
Who did what? Just gradually get surprised. I'm really glad that we got to learn more about the ghouls,
actually, because that was another thing where for the past few episodes, they've been kind of
feeding us some information. And like, feeding us. Oh, yeah.
For instance, you know, working on the edits and stuff to the reaction,
you get a chance to go over the episode again.
And there were things that they definitely dropped in the first episode about the ghouls.
That while we were watching the first time, I was like,
they're saying a bunch of words, but they're not computing.
Going back, I'm like, oh, yeah, that's right.
That's why they brought the chicken.
If he was feral, he would go for the chicken first.
I see.
Okay, I didn't connect the dots.
No.
Yeah, okay, gotcha.
So there's like all these little clues that they're dropping, and it makes me wonder, like, there must be so many more clues that they're dropping as well that we don't know, obviously, because hindsight's 20-20.
And when you go back and look at it, you're like, oh, yeah, they were like kind of giving us hints all along.
Just so I've cleared up the air, it was not Ethan Hawk.
It was a guy named Neil Huff.
Good job, Neil.
Yeah, he did a really good job.
Most of the way through his performance, I was like, oh, but before I realized it wasn't Ethan Hawk, because his voice sounded different all of a sudden.
But it was totally the kind of role that Ethan Hawk would pursue.
You know, someone who's just, like, messed up and, like, losing himself a little bit.
It was over so quick for that character.
I'm like, that can't be Ethan Hawk.
He wouldn't do that.
That role's not long enough for him.
He would do a whole Marvel show first.
This is the first episode, I think.
That's not Jonathan Nolan.
I wanted to know how you felt about the style and everything like that.
I still liked it a lot.
I didn't actually feel a difference.
No, I didn't.
I guess because Jonathan Nolan cemented the style and the performances and, like, the way he wanted the story told.
because that's usually what happens with a pilot director.
Yeah.
You know, they do the first one or two.
Jonathan Nolan did the first three, I think.
He did a good job of establishing a baseline for what the other directors can follow.
It still was just as compelling.
It felt short.
I'll say that.
Like, I was like, it was kind of over right away.
I was like, oh, dang.
Obviously, we have the other episodes to look forward to.
But it's still just like, oh, that was quick.
Because now it's like, okay, not only is her dad.
Well, her dad's out there, but he's potentially got a relationship or something with these Raiders
on the surface, like maybe he knows more than he's letting on.
There's now a question mark about her mom.
You have to make deals to maintain everything, right?
Right.
Whatever the situation is, you have to make deals to survive.
And it's like these backdoor negotiations that the majority, the masses,
would never find out about, never hear about.
Yeah, as a leader, you have to make the tough decisions.
Yeah.
We don't know what that's about.
I mean, that's just me trying to approximate where this could go.
Like, what could the dead have possibly done?
The ghoul suggested that maybe the father ate other people.
He was a cannibal as well.
It's possible that the food supply was coming from next door?
Yeah, I don't know about that.
Actually, this doesn't make any sense at all because he opened the doors to them
and tried to do a trade, which went horrible.
Right.
So there's no way it was coming from next door.
Right, no, but I was thinking it's probably more likely that maybe the leaders from next door,
from Vault 32, people were dying for some reason.
running low on food and so like in the last of us they were just feeding the people the food
making the call but then not telling them but someone found out or maybe it made other people
sick that could have happened then they all go crazy and they're like we hate you and we kill you
the one thing that's making me a little bit concerned now oh is there's only eight episodes and
I'm like get damn it oh it's not a question about quality it's more that you're sad that
there's only eight episodes.
Well, yeah, I mean, it feels like it's just going to get its, you know,
feed off the ground, wings in the air, and then it's going to end.
And that's the end of season one.
You've got to wait however long it's going to take for season two to come out.
Is it going to be a year or is it going to be two years like Game of Thrones?
Quality takes time.
The marketing was very smart.
They sold you on this idea that it was more of a kooky comedic sort of show.
It still is.
Kind of.
It's like within breathing distance of being that kind of show.
It's way more towards the serious side, which I appreciate and I enjoy.
I guess you had to sell it somehow.
There are jokes in there and there are quirky moments that are just like, oh, that's kind of hilarious.
But it's not like fall on the floor ruffling.
It's just like sometimes there's like weird funny bits.
But most of the time it's actually quite serious.
That's true.
You know?
But I think that just makes it more compelling to watch because of the storyline.
Like seeing our Lucy try to uphold her optimistic, good valued self in the face of this wasteland behavior, that was funny.
but she's turning so that funny's gone
and then she encountered those guys in the shop
who were like that's like holding up an air conditioner
hostage that was kind of funny
I don't know I'm just like oh okay this is fun
and I'm so scared it's gonna be over by the time
like it gets anyway
her brother is really interesting to me
because he is very different from the rest
of them in the vault I don't know if it's
just everyone is willfully
trying to be cheerful
and if he's just like authentically
himself just being this weirdo
who's like I have dark thought
I don't think like everyone else,
but I think that's going to be important going forward
because obviously he's uncovered some lies.
Vault 32 have been, you know, keeping
and some secrets that they've been keeping.
And so if they have secrets,
surely that means Vault 33 has secrets
and since his father was the leader.
We all got secrets to Charterkirk.
What the hell was he hiding?
If they are able to stick the landing on this,
this is going to be my favorite live action adaptation
of a video game.
We haven't played the video game enough.
Yeah, it's fine.
It's a compelling story, you know?
Fair enough.
Well, it's going to like take the place of arcane.
No, that's not live action.
Oh, that's animation.
That's animation.
So, but, you know, I've watched Hitman, but I barely played the game.
Hitman was still awful.
Barely played Assassin's Creed.
That movie sucked.
There's a lot of video game adaptations.
You don't need the game to necessarily know that, you know.
That's a fair point.
It's like, are they able to take the material and do something great with it?
even if it departs from the game, is the movie good on its own merits.
Arcane, number one, live action or not, that's still my number one.
And then this, so far is shaping up to be a second.
We'll see how it lands.
I'm just, like, so impressed by it so far.
Hopefully, I'm not going too overboarding my compliments about the show.
Come to find out in the comments.
Everyone's like, I, it sucked.
We watched ahead and we don't like it.
But, yeah, so far, halfway through, it's really great.
Yeah.
All right, looking forward to the next episode.
Thanks, you guys.
Peace.
Out. Goodbye.
