Starting point is 00:00:00 Sina. Pals. What's going on, everybody? I am Jabby Kauai, joined by Kristen Steffinson Pino. Hi. We are watching Final Destination 3. Thanks so much for joining. Glad to have you back on this frightening journey. I feel like they got it worse than anyone from the first one or the second one.
Starting point is 00:00:22 They got it way worse because it hit them again and then she saw it was too late and they had to go through the death. I got a pee. Time out, guys. Time out. He's got to go tinkle. I just got to go pee. I'll be right back. Jimmy or John.
Starting point is 00:00:34 You tell them your feelings. Tell him your feelings so low. I should tell him my feelings about him having to get up in the middle of this conversation going pee so that I lose my train of thought. Yeah. Pretty damn annoying. If I had to do that, he'd probably look me in the eye and say, hold it. I'm like, I'm going to smack him for that. Like, I feel so disrespected.
Starting point is 00:00:57 Unbelievable. Unbelievable. I'm listening. I originally didn't know if I was going to like this better than number two, but toward the end, I'm starting to question. Because I kind of like this one, but I don't know if I like it better than number two. I'm kind of on the fence. I didn't like the beginning at all. I thought the beginning was a little bit cheesy.
Starting point is 00:01:16 I enjoyed it. I thought it was cool. I'm not, again, I say this every single time. I'm not a horror fan. I'm like, I'm only watching these because they make for good entertaining reactions as far as I know. know but like I still enjoyed this for what it was who directed this again um was the same people as the second one I don't think so they changed it up again I don't know James Wong okay cool I enjoyed some of the creativity he was doing here with the camera work and I wish he did more of that if it
Starting point is 00:01:46 effectively helps to tell the story better yeah they had one instance that I thought was a little bit strange this is a technical thing but like when they were at the funeral it was when it was on the dude Kevin it was it kind of like dropped down to look up at him and then it cut to her and you saw the trees moving and stuff like that and I was like, what hell was that about? Like, I don't even understand. Maybe just getting artsy.
Starting point is 00:02:08 But even having finished the film, I really don't know what that was doing other than being a little bit creepy and expensive. But I overall, yeah, it's like, it definitely elicited the necessary or the desired feelings in me where I'm just like upset and I'm really,
Starting point is 00:02:25 maybe it's helping the fact that like I'm watching it with you, but I was like really getting into it, you know? No, I started getting into it, too. But the beginning, the beginning, I was just like, okay, and then I started getting into it. Where I feel like the second one caught my attention a lot quicker than the first one and this one. But I think that James Wong, I think because of number two, I think he got inspired and took a lot of the creativity for the deaths from there. Because I feel like two was just, the way they killed people off was so epic that.
Starting point is 00:02:59 I think he brought it into Final Destination 3, especially with the nails going through the girl's head. You know what I mean? He got a little bit more creative. But there was other ones that was like, it's a lot of head like getting to, heads getting destroyed. That's true. Yeah, that's true. And so there's like this consistent like, okay, it's kind of similar like deaths from part one. But then he did have fun with the goths.
Starting point is 00:03:20 You know what I mean? The girl. Yeah. And then he kind of started like, I do like the fact that at the ending, I did like the ending because we haven't seen that. fully yet, you know? So I like how they keep changing it up. Yeah. And I do, I actually, I do enjoy this.
Starting point is 00:03:36 I'm not a horror person. I'm doing it because this guy likes to see you die. But I've authentically been enjoying these. No, no, yeah, me too. I mean. I think that's why I'm like, I'm very sensitive to horror films. Yeah. So when it gets me, because I never watch them.
Starting point is 00:03:53 Yeah. And now that I am, I'm like, ah, my soul is just leave my body. But I do wonder. what they're going to do next time around because it follows a particular pattern. Yes. Yeah, and so I'm wondering how they're going to do keep it fresh for the next one.
Starting point is 00:04:07 Here's the thing. I do like the pattern. Okay. I just watched the film the other day and there's this new motto. It's from the Indian film. Go, go all gone. Okay.
Starting point is 00:04:16 They have this motto. All right. What do we know and what have we learned? And that's what I'm playing in my head right now? Yeah. For, okay, what do we know from one and two to N3? Mm-hmm. And what have we learned?
Starting point is 00:04:28 Yeah. And it's kind of cool. I kind of like that we do have the same thing going on, but it's different each time. So there are different things that come into play, so we never know exactly how it's going to pan out. You know, but like you said, for it to continue on, yeah, it is interesting to see which routes people go to figuring out the pattern.
Starting point is 00:04:50 This one, I feel like they were the sharpest out of all of them. Like, they caught on very quickly. Yeah. But I almost wish there was a little bit more than just, hey I looked up this thing and I was wondering I didn't like that delivery or the opening of how quickly they threw it in there
Starting point is 00:05:05 where the other ones they actually had to go through it and they figured it out you know and there was like ties that tied into things where this one just kind of went into it a little too quickly for me I tried not to make a thing of it but I just like the way they did the characters who weren't white I thought they did him dirty it's like they killed the black guy off early the Asian girl had no character development at all
Starting point is 00:05:27 no she had none and yes she lives So long. She was there just to die. Like, literally no personality, nothing. She got the picture of her butt, and then she got stabbed through the back. And I'm just like, what? That was terrible. Like, you could have done more with her somewhere in the movie.
Starting point is 00:05:42 I understand you have a 90-minute runtime. But it's like, and it's James Wong. He's Asian. Like, why is he doing the Asians dirty like that? That's all I'm saying. But overall, like, I thought that they had some interesting characters. I mean, in particular, they killed off my two favorites early, early. Yeah, which is the tanning bed chicks.
Starting point is 00:06:01 I was like... I wish they played with them a little bit more. Yeah. I wish... You know what had been really cool and kind of funny? Is if they... And we had them interact with the goss a little bit more or something or had them kind of miss... Could you imagine them going to...
Starting point is 00:06:14 Oh, my God! We escaped out! Oh, girl! Like, you know how funny and enjoyable that could have been? Yeah. You know, and then continue to go and then wipe them out. Like, I wish we enjoyed them a little bit longer because they were funny. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:27 I did like them. I think that. Yeah, what happened in part two, I think overall part two might have been better because they tried to actually get all these characters together. Yes. And so here, they just kept them spread out. And so it was literally just like one by one people dying. And I think that what you're saying is actually poignant in that it would have been cool if they tried to survive together and it was still getting them somehow. And that would have required a bit more creativity.
Starting point is 00:06:52 Yes. And I like those scenarios. I really did in part two. It would have required more creativity in how you told the story. I just, I did like the ending of part three. I did like the ending on that one. Okay. Two is still.
Starting point is 00:07:05 I think it's the strongest one. It's the strongest one still. I think it's still my favorite. Yeah. But I did enjoy three more than one. Okay. That's fair. I see your hierarchy there.
Starting point is 00:07:15 Yeah. But of all the three films, my favorite characters were the tanning bed girls. I was sad to see them go. Out of all the films? Yeah, they were my favorites just because it's like they were so earnestly, they were so unabashedly themselves. like when they gave the phone number they were like they were legit I think they're my favorite too
Starting point is 00:07:33 they were legitimately trying to do good and they're like we're so nice we're such good people I know I think they were my favorite characters I'll agree with that I think out of all three we've seen they're definitely my favorite they were just memorable characters and then even when they were about to die
Starting point is 00:07:50 like when they had the things in their eyes and they're just kind of dancing in the tanning bed like they were the most interesting characters which is like so ironic considering that those people are the least interesting in real life, generally speaking. But normally you don't care about that, those type of characters and films. You're kind of like, oh, well, you know, you're kind of dumb. But in this one, you were like, you couldn't help but love those two.
Starting point is 00:08:10 And they played so well off of each other. Yes. And I think, like, sometimes that's like that could be a hit or miss. Yeah. I think that what it would have helped is if you more often had instances of fake outs. Because what happened was, I'll say, it was almost like guaranteed that characters were going to die in each scene, right? The only time you kind of faked it out was with the goth guy. That was it.
Starting point is 00:08:32 And he comes back and then he gets chopped in half. I'm like, all right. Cool. I wish there was a little bit more there. I felt like for this one, it's so funny because part one I felt was too slow. And I thought part three was a little bit too quick. Okay. Okay.
Starting point is 00:08:46 I could see that, which is kind of funny because I think part one was actually a shorter movie. But I get you. I felt like it was a little bit too quick. I mean, yeah, it was a shorter movie, but still. The way they killed people off, you know, and like, I wish they gave us a little bit more of like yeah this so this one was actually 10 minutes longer so it's interesting that you say that anyway you guys thanks so much for hanging out um hopefully you had fun with us really appreciate you hanging with us make sure that you subscribe bell icon all notifications and
