Starting point is 00:00:00 Senna. Pals! What's up, everybody? This is part two to King Kong. You know, if you have a... Oh, hey, what, ha, ha, hallelujah. Good improv. That was good.
Starting point is 00:00:13 That was good. Let's what's up. Let's go. Well, we got the classic story of who's the real monster here, right? The animal or the animal. What a ride that was like, it was just crazy. It was just crazy on crazy, on crazy, on crazy. But still, like, it didn't take you out of it.
Starting point is 00:00:37 Like, he managed, Peter Jackson managed to keep us emotionally invested the whole time. And he did such a good job of giving Kong, like, strong character that was so easy to empathize with and to root for, um, while still staying very much rooted in like animal behavior like I feel like he studied a lot he thought this through and he gave us a wild wild adventure like I did not think it would get that crazy and it totally got that crazy I don't know what to say I'm just over here in silence like yeah sorry I'm like thank you to be in for go ahead thanks for taking that That's jumping in for me. I got you.
Starting point is 00:01:27 It was well casted. It was well casted. It was beautifully done. I hate these stories where they just kill you inside. I don't understand why people will grab something and bring it out of its own home, its natural habitat, just to bring it to a place that will absolutely destroy it. And it's a, yeah, exactly greed, money, fame, whatever. For me, I will never understand that. Right off the gate, like this, I thought this started off really fun.
Starting point is 00:01:58 I heard some people think that it's a little bit slow, like in the beginning or whatever, but then it picks up. But all around, I thought it was very well done. I like the storyline. The only part that got me was in the middle grounds, like where it's like the excitement was so much excitement. It was almost too much for me. No break. I didn't get a breather, and I was authentically exhausted. And I was just like, I need to breathe.
Starting point is 00:02:23 but I felt like people's pain. And I felt like I'm like, my body hurts. You're like, I'm a headache. And I'm like, oh my gosh, this is too much. I never knew the storyline. Yeah. I didn't know how they got there.
Starting point is 00:02:35 I didn't know how, like, he became, and I never knew how it ended. And I guess, like, a big part of me was hoping. Maybe they would have put him to sleep and then put him back. That's what I was hoping for. And it was going to be this beautiful, like, goodbye ending kind of thing
Starting point is 00:02:51 where something like around, those lines, but instead they decided they wanted to hurt my feelings. Well, it's realistic. That's how humans really would do it. They wouldn't go through the effort of going all the way back and putting him there. They would either monetize off of him or just off him. It'd be like, okay, not worth it anymore. Bye. I know, but it's still like such a... Yeah. Why are people like this? I hate people. Literally. Like, I'm just... That's what he did a really good job of, too, is like he really captured humanity
Starting point is 00:03:24 and how much we suck and how much potential we have but how much we can suck. There was a good balance there and it's like I think this girl who played Naomi Watts yes I think Miss Naomi Watts I think
Starting point is 00:03:40 she was absolutely phenomenal in this she looks a lot like Nicole Kidman like even her stare downs and everything I was like oh you're giving like this is and then it made me go Nicole Kidman would have been fire in this. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:03:56 But then at the same time, I'm like, you are holding your own, girl. I think what- She's holding her own. I think what Naomi Watts captures really well is how a woman really was at that time. Like, all the restrictions that she was placed under, just being like, not only was she female, but she was an artist, you know, she was in theater. She has a lot of restrictions on her. they're like at that time you always had to have an error about you and you had to like kind of
Starting point is 00:04:27 play a part um especially if you were in film or in theater like not only as a woman but as a character a role to get anywhere you have to always be kind of this like oh help me like kind of like weak but very ultra feminine I feel like Nicole Kidman would have been too strong exactly you think so yeah I don't know because Because I've seen her moment. Have you seen Mulan Rouge? Of course. That's why I'm saying.
Starting point is 00:04:57 She has that vulnerability, but she's still very strong. Whereas Naomi Watts is just like, you think she would just crumble like any given time. But she made it through the whole movie. And she was the heart of the movie that connected with me. And she did so much cardio. She was super strong in a very vulnerable, different way. So I think she was actually perfect for this. No, I think she was perfect, too.
Starting point is 00:05:24 I love the bond between King Kong and her. I love that we had that moment when they were on the ice. And I almost wanted more because, you know, you see this thing that people see as a monster because he's out of the norm and he's just gymongous. But he's sweet and kind and loving too. He's like a baby, you know? And mankind, man. We kill what we can.
Starting point is 00:05:48 We don't understand and what we're afraid of, right? even though we're kind of like the cause of the destruction in the first place by bringing him over and like wanting that ooh ah and it's all for you know a buck we think we're invincible yeah but i i do like the film how it it does show um how mankind and animal life can live and be as one if they wanted to you know what i mean like and there is something that you where you can bond and then there's other aspects of it where you're just like ah Absolutely not. Violence. You know, as like, you know, you have your vicious. You've got your vicious creatures and then you got your creatures that can be loving and can learn. I'm actually kind of, I see they gave it a 7.2 out of 10. Oh, I would go higher.
Starting point is 00:06:37 I would personally would go, I would personally go higher. I probably would have given it like at least a nine. Yeah. At least a high eight. Yeah, we're a high eight. I don't. The world building. You know what?
Starting point is 00:06:49 Nine, for sure. because the world building was insane. It was gorgeous. Not only that. I love the story of it, though, and the storytelling. I love the writer. I loved the comedy. I loved everything about it.
Starting point is 00:07:03 I, you know. Which, it was a little easy, like, the relationships and the characters. It was kind of, like, predictable. But, man, we have never seen a dinosaur pile up like that before. I thought that was a dinosaur campaigned, all those bugs. That was a lot. Just that act. hour alone. That's a lot of hour. It was probably 20 minutes, but it felt like an hour.
Starting point is 00:07:24 I've just one thing after another. I've never seen that before. I was so thirsty. I finished my entire bottle of water. Normally, I don't finish this until like, I was like, coffee. No, I need, I was so exhausted. Yeah, that's why I would give it a higher reading. Because they just did not let up. They're like, we're bulldogging this. You think you're done? Yeah. No, I thought, I think the character, I love the characters, though, too. Like, the characters acting is all amazing. But even the storytelling, we had a good portion of this film where there wasn't dialogue. You know what I mean? It was just screaming. And even with that, and normally I'm the type of person like sometimes like when you have those films, it's like a hit or mess. For me,
Starting point is 00:08:07 I loved it. I loved the silence. I loved the eye contact. I loved everything about it. And when they did speak, especially toward the end, it was like, oh, please recommend all the age. and Brody movies to her. Let her watch them all. This is the first time I've ever seen him in anything. Oh my God. He is so good. Early. He is Oscar nominee. He, winning. He is, I've been a fan a long time as you can tell. Okay, okay. Please make her watch him as a favor to me. And let me watch him too, because I would love to watch him again. No, but, no, I thought he was like an amazing actor and I couldn't help but fall in love with him. But also, like, the set design was So good.
Starting point is 00:08:51 Yeah. The music, the set design, all of it. And I just, I think that they went a little low on the ratings for this one. I would have rated it higher. I think Andy Circus, who amazing. Here's the voice of Kong. Uh-huh. I think he was Ghalom in the Lord of the Rings.
Starting point is 00:09:08 Can we go? Yes. My precious. That guy. Oh, really? Have you seen Laura? He was. Was he?
Starting point is 00:09:16 Yep. Colum. Colum. I he's insane like he not only is he a great actor like physically but he completely transforms his voice and I loved one of like my favorite interviews with him is where he was explaining how he comes up with these characters how he finds them in his body yeah like I want to know how he came up with Kong because for Gallum he was like I got the job and I was like I don't know how am I going to make this character I can't find him what do I do
Starting point is 00:09:49 and then one day my cat just starts hacking up a hairball and he's like huh and he's like hey climb it
Starting point is 00:09:58 and that was it he created this whole character that's iconic for the rest of our lives and then some that's a great story he is amazing
Starting point is 00:10:09 if you guys know or have a link of how he came up with the voice of Kong please send it to us or me because I was I'm a fan.
Starting point is 00:10:20 He is incredible. That's a great story. I love that. I love that so much. Talented people. All these people are so talented. No, they are. They had a solid cast.
