Senna. Pals.
Beyond the Professional, had no idea that this movie was called that, but once I clicked on it,
we're watching on Netflix. I saw that famous baby Natalie Portman image, and I was like,
oh, I've definitely heard about this movie, but haven't seen it.
I think Kristen might have years and years and years ago, but doesn't remember it.
I might have seen it like a long time ago. I don't remember it, though.
Okay. So we'll see.
We're watching it. We're watching with you.
Okay, let's go into it.
I think we'll be okay here, Leon.
I was not expecting that at all.
I thought he was going to train her so well.
She was going to jump in and, like, save him.
And there was like a whole franchise.
And like, bang!
Damn.
Wow.
I did not know we were going there.
No, this was a fun film.
So sweet.
And yet so damn dark.
And when I say sweet, I mean Leon's relationship with Matilda was so freaking adorable.
and so sweet that you couldn't help but love that relationship build.
And like, it kind of ruined him.
Oh, yeah.
Definitely.
I hate to say it.
Career, but what kind of life was that really?
Yeah.
He had none of his money.
He didn't know anyone.
He just worked.
He barely slept.
He slept in the corner of his house so that he could be on alert at all times.
Like, it's no life, though I wish it ended a little happier.
realistically this does give her the best chance at life and they Jean Reno and Natalie Portman
and Gary Oldman the three main just acted the hell out of this they did but especially for a
child actress yes she was a she was crazy it was a really cool film I love the music I love the
shots I love the pacing of the story I do wish like we could have seen a little bit more
of her training but that's not really what the story was yeah it was more about just the
relationship between these two and like how much they changed each other's life and there was an
innocence to her romance with him you know it really was i think did expose even more so how much of a
child she is and how much she needed yeah any bit of love and if that's like what she felt in
that moment there was still this innocence to it even though at first you're like oh not good but
you know what it's like he really held the boundaries with her as his father figure in the best way
that he could while still
still being, he's a weird guy
he's a hit man. He doesn't have
social interaction. Like I didn't expect him
to be the father of the year, but he did a great
job with what he had. He was
amazing. He was so cute.
I loved all his expressions
because like, you can tell he just wants to lay
low. Yeah. The part that sucks
is he finally got a good night's
sleep in a bed and then the next
day he died. I know.
And I'm like, it's like his last one.
Yeah. I hate that. But it was almost like
his whole life is changing for the better.
And Matilda, I love you, sweet little angel,
who's also kind of manipulative and like a little bit of shit.
But, you know what I mean?
I mean, she says things.
But she is a child who got beat a lot,
who had an awful family situation.
The only, like for how grounded this movie was for how crazy it was,
I actually like applaud the writer.
Yes.
Gosh, she was very believable for,
being outrageous.
But the one thing that, like, did stick in my mind is like, okay, so you have this
dad who beats his kid who brought this horrible family into her life and is making
her life hell with her little brother.
It doesn't really care about them, but cared enough to pay her tuition in advance.
That's the only fine.
That's so big.
Well, but it did a little bit.
But it's nice.
She has the setup.
You knew it was going to come back into play.
But it was like, he paid.
advanced
that's why I don't know like the dad also like in the beginning didn't seem like the type that
that that is that strong or intense because he seemed so weak but then afterwards you're
like are you're kind of you're also you're also exactly well afterwards once he got in
the house and he you know allowed his wife and everybody to stay to me I was like oh my gosh
you're so weak right but not just weak this makes sense on why you do certain things like
attack a child because it's the only time
you're going to feel strong. I loved
the scene when she was talking
to Leon right after they all had passed
and he's like, okay, you don't like these
people, you said their shit. And she's being so
strong but she's devastated and he's like
why are you crying then? You know, like he almost like
because it's like he he lacks
that human connection
in some sense, just shape of form
but then gains it, you know? And what she
says was no, it was my little
brother. That's what got her. That's what
got her. Because he was four years
old. All he wanted to do was cuddle me. Like, that was the only good in her life. And she lost it, you know? And I think she, I think with him, she was the
protector, you know, like she said, like, I was more of a mother to him than anyone else. And when you're
watching them, you're kind of like, yeah, I can see that. You kind of have like a rough family. This is dark.
It is really dark. I don't know how they pulled it off to be as dark as it was to still make us go,
oh and then kind of like enjoy that darkness but also love the growth that came from it the twists
and like the turns that come with it i wish we had more training and leon like taught her to go do her
dirty you business but the right way for some reason i thought she was going to become this badass like
number two version of him but i was so wrong yeah wrong and tony mr tony you man i don't know
what it comes like i don't know what it is with him in the money other than you're taking advantage
And you don't need.
Yeah, I think he's a gray area character.
He's not the worst, but he's not the best.
No.
I don't think, I think he will give her money, but he's not going to be, he's taxing.
He's heavily taxing.
But it was a good movie.
I really enjoyed it.
I liked it.
Yeah.
I really, really liked it.
Yeah.
I think we really enjoyed it.
