Sinha.
Pals, I'll be back.
What's up, guys?
It's Kristen Stavisipino, joined by Miss Vivian Day.
And today we're watching The Running Man.
Ayah, aye.
Are we going to run a marathon?
I don't know.
It's funny, the only running man I'm aware of is there's a Korean show that was, like, huge.
Oh, yeah?
For a long time about the Running Man.
It was hilarious.
You heard it here first.
But this obviously came first, because 1987, what a year.
Let's go.
That means it's going to be a good film with Mr.
Arnold. But we're
going into it right now.
The song's hitting.
Right.
Roll the dice.
All right. The Running Man.
Boy.
What did you think? What did you think?
I love post-apocalyptic movies.
I love Arnold.
Like, it's always a good time.
As always, the fights were always very gruesome.
Yeah.
No, right out of the, you know, we lost a guy in the beginning, and they blew his head up.
And that was pretty like, whoa.
No, but then, but then it's interesting because after that, I feel like the death scenes weren't as bad as that moment.
Yeah.
And I'm kind of like, so right in the beginning, you just wanted to shock us.
And then you're like, you know, maybe that was too much.
I almost feel like it was like them going, I kind of feel sorry for you all.
And I feel sorry for that scene.
let me like make it a little lighter
I was expecting that friend
Loughlin right is that his friend's name
Loughlin? I was expecting us
to see like guts all falling out
and everything I thought his head got cut off
him first yeah did it look like
his head got chopped off at first or is that just me
it was his tummy but I was
expecting just like
first I thought it was here or something but yeah
but then when they were just like oh
it was just like boom I was like oh
I guess we're spending all the money on the corpses
of the old winners
Well, you have to remember the time frame, too.
Exactly.
Like, for them back then, like, that was...
There's a limit.
That was gnarly.
One beheading and one...
They went pretty hard on this one.
They did.
I think for the time frame, like, everything looked really great.
The suits.
The Shell Station suits.
No, I...
This, it did remind me a little bit of, like, Hunger Games, but I'm glad that, like, we came back.
I thought that little roller coaster, a little ride in the beginning's kind of fun.
It's almost like...
It's over fun.
Okay, let me give you a little bit of fun before he's...
you do your death.
Right.
But it's not.
Don't get me wrong.
It's not.
There's nothing fun about that.
That's terrifying.
But how shitty is it that they bring back all these people that have been through this
and they're supposed to like, they're like not wanting to be a part of it.
And then they end up dying anyways.
Right.
You know, like, why don't you have to do that to Andrew Gordon?
Yeah.
That was mean.
This is so, I think it's timeless because like, what are we?
were in 24 and this is still
relevant. This could easily
happen. They could be like,
2028. Don't say that, Vivian.
It's already happening. I mean,
I think we are living in a very privileged
time where people are getting
away with less.
Like, we are more informed now.
It's harder to lie to us.
I feel like there's more truth
bearers out there and we're a little more
woke.
I feel like
you can't, like this type of
of world absolutely can
exist and there's truth to it
a lot of truth to it like media always
making enough bullshit
but even like
even now I don't know
I don't know if I fully believe
that it's harder
to lie to us because everything's like
controlled right just like what they were doing
they're just it's all about control and I hate
that and the thought of
something even coming close
to a world like that
I feel like that's us
I know, but don't say that.
I think we're already there.
I'm trying to hold.
Like the AI thing where the dating thing, I was like,
hate it.
That's why we have the union.
Hate it.
It's terrifying.
I was terrified of it for a strong second.
Even doing something like this, I have moments where I'm like, oh, you know, anything could happen.
But we can't let fear stop us from living.
True.
And spending time together.
And we just pray for an Arnold to come save us.
Yes, Arnold, please come save us.
Poor, poor nerdy friend passed.
Oh, I was so used to.
I thought, I thought that I was kind of bummed out that the nerd guy passed because I thought,
okay, if the girl got elected to two, maybe, like, you know, we were just knocked out for a second.
I was hoping he was just knocked out for a second.
We were going to be able to bring him back to life.
But that was not the case at all.
and I was bummed out.
I felt like we kind of lost them a little too quickly.
And I wanted more with them.
But other than that, I really like the story concept and the idea of everything.
Because it's timeless.
Yeah.
Could happen any time.
And it's so true, even though it's like it was sensationalized,
but, you know, we do have, I mean, humans do have that spectrum of...
Man, humans are disgusting.
You can say it.
We do have a history with brutality and enjoying it and egging it on and, like, all...
Why?
History.
All over the world.
I know.
And you know, they would guarantee people would watch it now today, too.
Yeah.
Because if you think about it, okay, we watch boxing.
We watch, like, what are the thing?
Boxing and I feel like MMA.
I like, I like it, because.
it's skill. Like that is
like, oh, okay, you've
trained hard, this is all you do.
It's a skill thing. But like, like, gladiator
stuff. I feel like
it's very close to gladiator. I don't know.
Fine line. I'm going to
just, I'm shocked. You like that?
MMA fighting? Yes.
Like, I have friends who are MMA and stuff like that, but
for me, I look at it, I'm like, that's somebody's
baby you're hitting. Like, somebody
like, and another part of me is like,
okay, I
don't see the joy.
in beating the shit out of somebody.
Like, there's nothing enjoyable
for me to see somebody
constantly, like,
getting something broken or seeing
the blood, like, it actually hurts my feelings.
But you're an actress, right?
Yeah.
You enjoy getting wrecked emotionally.
I don't enjoy that.
I don't enjoy that.
But you would do it on set.
You know, why would you keep doing that over and over?
Why do we watch these things over and over?
It's because we recognize skills.
Right?
Part of me wants to be like,
ha,
let me go out.
It's the same thing.
You have MMA friends.
You know that it's their passion.
You know, they're good at it.
Yes, I know, but it doesn't mean.
I respect it.
I just don't like it.
I just don't like it.
Even though I was a wrestler,
we didn't, like,
that's a different, though, you know?
Like, you're slamming your bodies on the floor
versus, like, actually, like, really like,
Girl Muay Thai fighters, man.
You know?
Yeah.
But I think because back then, survival was so intense.
And like, we, unless if you're on the battlefield, you don't really know what brutal that energy looks like.
You know, so there's a curiosity.
You don't know how anatomy works.
So, like, you know, all the things.
Like, no, I wouldn't want to see it.
I guess there's a type of curiosity.
Yeah.
Okay.
I see that.
But now we don't need that because we have.
special effects and we have you know doctor things and we watch enough surgeries online I guess
I guess I mean it's your inner animal instinct right like the inner animal in us all that I just
I get the strength thing I'm not even a mom or anything but like yeah if that's I think or your
love I think I'm just maybe I'm too soft no no you're empathetic that's different you you don't
want to get punched like that.
I bet you, I bet you
if you had the skills and you knew how to
but I wouldn't want to do it just for
fun. I wouldn't want to do it
just for like to get paid or like
I wouldn't want to do that. But you learn
and you get better.
The more you fight, the more
you spar and the more you train, the better than you get.
No, but I...
Okay.
I'm like, it's like surfing.
She's like, you want to surf with the... I love how she's
looking at it. No, no, she's looking at me dead ass
in the face. It's just like, you get better.
I'm like, not getting it.
I'm like, what are you talking about?
Like, what do you?
It's just like, like, you practice and get, like, zoom in on my eyes.
This is Vivian.
And you get better, like, you know, better practice.
I'm like, oh, you learn.
I was like, this girl, get out of here.
She's like, you're doing a great job at manipulating me right now.
That was, you know, manipulation to see it your way.
You know, I respect that.
Do I like it? No?
Do I see it now?
Yes.
I don't know, man.
I don't know.
This film was great.
I respect fighters.
And Arnold is such like a physique icon.
He's trained hard all of his life.
He was beautiful in the film.
Like his whole like, every shot they had of his like face, I was like, whoa.
Very nice.
Good looking man.
No one looks better.
You can't be oiled up.
I mean.
They didn't.
them dirty with the yellow
suit, but they did us
good. They did well.
They did good to us. They were good to us
and the yellows. He can't be shirtless in
every scene. I got it. He could.
I'm okay with it. You know who I really
enjoyed? I really enjoyed the
host. Oh, God. Oh,
let's look him up.
Richard
Let me see.
Dawson. I think he was on
Gilligan's Island. Yeah, click on him.
Hold on, let's see. He was.
That's why.
I knew what I'm like.
They paid a little too much attention.
Okay, that's funny.
Yeah, he looked obviously much younger.
Catch Vivian.
Yeah, no, I think he was a great host.
I loved how lovable he was with, like, the crowds.
He was very charming.
But then it was like he did such a great job at being like so nice.
And then behind closed doors like, oh, wipe him out, blah, blah, blah.
And I kind of like how it's like, it's like,
you're never you're never going to know it was him yeah like he was like really good at keeping
his hands clean you almost miss it how he's like fire and you're like yeah whatever it's so
quick yeah he's i feel like he was very clean like he's just the only thing i can think of is
clean dirty yeah he's very dirty clean dirty whatever not sleazy like an a hole but he's not like
sophisticated intelligent very intelligent with and very small
smooth wise with
like his choices
and I could have had Arnold
a little bit more intense
I would have been okay with that
a little bit more intense
and originally Amber she irritated me
because I'm like
Amber come on
but I also and I also feel like
she kind of got thrown into it
a little too quick
where we could we should have had
a little bit more like a scene with her
and the other guys a little bit
before they threw her in there as a punishment
like something of her like fighting back
or something a little bit more
that part was just didn't really click for me
but other than that I didn't I didn't mind
it was very enjoyable
I liked it I liked it a lot
I was six out of six
yeah for 1987
a great year it's not bad
super I love
I think for that time frame this was
this was intense I love the dancers
the dancers are so good
the dancers are great
I like the I like the way
everything looked too
Like they did a lot
And they did a great job
With the little
I feel like they didn't have so much
But yet they had a bunch
Yeah
And they used like you know what I mean
They really utilized everything very well
The gadgets were really cool
The cars that they had
Even the bikes I remember
In the first time we see Arnold go down
Into the whole arena
There was this really cool bike
That was like oh my God
I almost missed it
Because it was just an extra
feature behind it. But that shows me that they had attention to detail and a lot of
creativity and fun making this. So that's, I also like, I like how, you know, they bring it to
your attention that things can be completely manipulative. Manipulated. It's because I just
manipulated you. So you're still under my spell.
Yes, Vivian. Tell me what do you see?
say, you know, I feel like that they show that you can be manipulate, manipulate, manipulated.
I like that.
That it shows that you can be manipulated very easily, but then also shown the truth.
And it takes that one person to change the game and change your perspective and the way you see things.
A grandma.
And yeah, I love that.
I love that line.
I can choose whoever I want.
I do what I want.
And I like that she.
shows outside the box and it's not what they wanted you to do, but that's what she ended up
choosing to do. And then everybody else was kind of in shock because they're like, are we allowed
to do that? Yeah. Oh, shoot. We can do that. Let's change it up. So, no Betty White-esque. Her
energy reminded me a Betty White. A little bit. I've missed Betty White. She's great. So anything
else? Great job. This is really fun. I like this film. I thought it was great. You guys let us
know your thoughts in the comments. It was a lot of fun for me and Vivian as well.
