Pals.
We are watching The Mummy Returns.
Let's get into it.
The Mummy Return.
The Mummy Returns.
Say goodbye to my husband.
You'll say bye, babe.
My lover.
Sirma, Salama to YouTube.
Salaam to YouTube.
That's half mine.
I have no idea what you're talking about.
You took my ghost snake.
I know you took my own snake.
I have no.
I swear, I'm on the head of my wife.
I have no idea what you're.
What you're talking about?
The head of my wife.
You ain't got a wife.
Yeah, I was about to say, I was like,
the head of your wife.
What did you think?
What'd you think?
I liked it.
I thought it was a little franchise.
Yeah, I felt that.
The franchise tropes that we've seen so much.
I feel like if I watched this when it came out,
I would have been like, oh my God, how fun all these twists and turns.
But now it's like, I don't know, it just feels so formulaic to a sequel and to building
a bigger brand.
But I love the characters.
There was a lot of really cool.
things that happened, you know?
And I like the addition of the sun,
but I just feel like a lot of it was like
Big Big Bang Bang for Big Big Bang sake.
Okay, but do, okay, so do you like this one or the first one?
The first one.
Okay, the first, I actually really like the first one.
Yes, I think I like, I like, I really liked the first one too.
This one, I felt was well done.
Like, it was fun to come back.
Yeah.
But it didn't give me as much of like that.
Whoa.
Right.
Like, as the first one.
Yeah, I just felt like the first one was pretty unique and the story, although smaller, like bigger's not always better.
And I think that this is a great example of that.
To me, like a smaller scale story, even though it was big and adventurous in the first one, it was a huge swing and there was so much to it, it just felt a little bit more grounded where this one was just like, okay, this is really fun.
Yeah.
No, this one was fun for sure.
Although I was a little bit disappointed at the way they did The Rock when he came back.
Oh, the CGI.
The CGI, I could not stand at the end.
Because I feel like all the other ones look better to me.
Yeah, the dogs look cool.
Yeah, but I understand, like, for its time, you know, I'm sure it was, like, insane.
But I almost wish that they actually used 2001.
Yeah, that's...
Yeah, we're still working on things.
But this is the same year that Lord of the Rings was coming out, so no excuses.
That is true.
Lord of the Rings is fire.
But that had to wait, crazy or budget.
Okay, I love the fighting scene between the girls.
Yeah, that was cool.
Cool, that was cool.
I like that we went back to like the Egypt Times and she was like there, which kind of makes sense on her obsession with everything.
And like they make sense because it's like the year of the scorpion.
I just wish they utilized Dwayne Johnson, the real him maybe coming out with some powers or something in the fight versus him being a scorpion.
I do know, which is weird that I know because normally I don't know anything.
I do know there is another.
film that has the
Scorpion King. Yeah. Am I
right? Yes! Yes! All the
Scorpion King comes out in 2002.
I normally don't
know anything, but I know
I knew there was like a story, another
further story. I don't remember how I know
or why I know this. It might have been my
grandfather, but
it's a spin-off of the movie. Yes. Yes.
Where they actually get that character
and they throw it in the mix or whatever like a
whole shebang, supposedly.
Well, I mean, obviously, you looked it up for me.
So yes, yes, yes.
I would love to see that in itself.
I wish that Dwayne Johnson, we had a little bit more content with him.
But I also, like, overall, like, I thought this was great.
I was excited to see our old friends back in action.
Jonathan, you can't go wrong with him.
He's amazing.
No matter way, he's hilarious.
Yeah, Jonathan's great.
Yes, I do love the little boy.
He was, he was like a great child actor.
He was fun.
I wasn't sure at first.
I was like, oh, okay, great.
Right.
Because a kid always weighs down a story, but I do think he did liven it up for me.
Oh, he did.
I loved the part where he was, like, creating all the different places that they have to go to.
And I loved the part where he was getting, his dad was running with him to make it into the pyramid on time.
That part, I absolutely adored.
The things that I love about the Mummy franchise is that.
that the characters are great.
All of the main characters are great
and there's a lot to them.
I love Rick and Evelyn's romance.
They actually love each other.
And even when they have a kid,
they still love each other.
It sucks that it's almost at the detriment of...
Yeah.
You know what I mean?
Because you always want to see...
You always hear like,
oh, Ntiam Keynes, the romance is gone,
which I just like hate hearing that
because that sucks if that's the case
and I don't want to see it.
So it's cool to see a couple that's like,
Oh, they actually still get it on, even though they have a kid.
But then every time they get it on, their kid gets lost or injured or in trouble.
That drove me crazy.
I was like, I was kind of bummed out how, like, our old mummy, our mummy guy.
Oh, yeah.
I can't even say his name.
Imhotep.
Imhotep.
Imhotep.
I don't know.
They said it way cool with me.
I love their romance.
From the past.
From the past, it was my favorite.
And I would want more.
more of that story.
Especially from the first one, I wanted it so badly.
And this one I wanted it.
And I felt so bad for him.
I know.
That was heartbreaking.
When his girl, like, abandons him because he looks over at our other couple and he's just
like, yeah, help me.
Yeah, because he sees that love.
He's like, oh, my baby's here.
I'm going to be okay.
Yeah, I'm going to be okay.
And then she's like, no.
And he looks at the love and he goes, wow.
And I feel like he's just like, I'm done.
Why fight that?
Because originally he was.
fighting for his love. The whole thing was for her. Part one, part two was all about her. Yeah. And it drives
me crazy. I do wish that we had more of her, like how we found her, how this reincarnation showed up
and came into play. Right. Because I feel like that was just kind of like thrown in there.
And I wish that there's big stretches in this film. Yeah. And that one, that was the only one I wish that
we had like maybe like they went back to that moment and these guys like revived her or maybe
they saw this re-incarnation or maybe this girl just had it in her because it's the scorpion
month so she was like oh something's weird like there's some of the stuff in there we could
have cut out like some of the fluff that's cut out to add that in there to make it a little bit
yeah like choose get that was my problem it's like choose the story you know and then really really
rip that apart and
get into that. I want
to know when you're dealing with something that's
as cool as Egyptian
lore and you're talking about
gods and curses and bringing back
people and reincarnation,
that's all you need.
Just, you know, pick a few
things, but it's like this and this and this
and this and this. I just feel like they
had a lot of stunning shots
especially Dwayne the Rock Johnson.
I felt like some
of it was a little bit slow. There was some
parts where I was like, okay, like pick it up, like I'm a little slower. And I almost feel like
it didn't have to be that way. They would have added that beat in there, like, you know, added her
whole shenanigans in there. It would have made you feel a little something more umph. And I also
feel like we, that death of Imhotep, I feel like we would have, we would have felt even worse.
Yeah. You know what I mean? Yeah. And it's like she's so gorgeous that you can, and striking that you can't
look away from her that it was like, I'm sure a lot of people
would have loved to see her more time
with her on screen. Her character
for sure. Oh, 100%. I love that they
brought my husband into it a lot more.
Yes, yeah. I felt like he seemed more
like a badass than the first one than this one
because he got beat up quite a bit.
I didn't like seeing that. Oh, against the
black not character? I wanted him to be more like
fierce. He was, though.
He was, but I feel like they
kind of did my man dirty because
and I'm going to hear me out.
me out. I just wanted more of him. I want him more of him and I didn't want him. I wanted him
be even stronger and cooler and just like something that Rick would have been like,
damn, Scottie. I don't, you know. Yeah, I like that. They brought him back. I feel like that was
the writers and the creators being like, people love that character. Of course. They needed him more.
Get him back here. He needed more dialogue. But yes, I want to, yeah. So overall, it was fun. There was a lot of
cool points love the characters
great music I'm just being picky right now
exciting it was a little
franchisee for me
I definitely liked the first one better but you know what
I still had fun and I still had fun
I still had fun and I was still happy to be back
yes just like everyone was the chosen one
I was just happy to be back
yeah and felt like I was back at home
with my friends and I was ready to go
I feel you and then I was like we gotta retire man
I know get retired you guys got to get home to the family
that's my final thoughts
let us know
