Sina.
Pals.
Hello, everybody.
It is Kristen Steves-A-Pino, joined by Miss Vivian Day.
And today, we are watching The Untouchables.
The Untouchables, let's go.
I think I'll have a drink.
Yeah.
What a line.
Wow.
Because he won't be on the job.
Only when he's on the job, he won't have a drink.
Hopefully he's set for life.
I doubt it.
The Untouchable was definitely untouchable.
What a movie?
7.8?
That's it, you guys.
Yeah, they're being rude.
What?
With that one.
That was an amazing movie.
I'd give it a 9.
Yeah.
Solid 9.
Easily.
Yes.
Wow, man.
Way ahead of its time.
This film was so.
delightfully like
exciting
while the characters
were just
awesome. I love that
we had the four
four musket
tears
and then there were two
I was so sad
when our
when our accountant
got hit
dude poor baby
the pacing was so good
for it too
nothing felt slow
everything felt purposeful
I'm shocked at their opening
man they just like
wiped out that little
girl. Like, let's talk about
that for a second. And she's trying to do a good
deed mister. You forgot your back. And boom.
And then the
baby scene at the station.
Yeah, what is wrong with you guys?
Whoa. You all are sick
using these children and putting
them in harm's way. Like, was
that necessary? I mean, I guess we
got the like redemption
where, you know, one kid got lost
but here another kid had
a safer ending. But still,
that was unnecessarily
stressful, okay? That was
very iconic, but very stressful.
Robert and Ken, I mean
Kevin, Robert and Kevin,
you can't ever go wrong with those guys in
any film. The moment you see there in something,
you're like, all right,
it's going to be fire. I already know I'm going to love it.
Sean Connery was fire in this.
Yeah, he was fire too.
Hello?
But I'm just saying a lot of times,
a lot of times when you see
Kevin or Robert right off the gate, you don't need
as long as you know those
one of them's in the film, you don't
even know anything else, that's all I'm saying.
Sean, Conner, yes, Sean
is awesome too. I think he's
like phenomenal. He had some of the
best scenes, I think his character was
so enjoyable.
So lovable. And he was so
wise and clever. But I wish
he gave up his source.
Yeah. But I love that. I mean, I love the
secrets and I love how well he played it.
But I kind of wanted more
of his backstory and like, I
wanted to, like, go back in time a little bit.
The sets were amazing.
Like, I thought of that because when you said you wanted to know more about him,
I thought when we first see him, you know, on his work grind, we get it.
But then when you go into his house, when Elliot is trying to convince him to join him.
And you see his family.
You see everything, even from the wallpaper, like that just every prop was so well-placed.
And I thought that, too, while we see Capone.
at the dinner
with all the mobsters
and everything is pristine
and beautiful and white
and like...
But their locations are fire to.
But then, like, the elegance
is ruined immediately
and even the color is ruined
immediately of the lighting
when, you know, he goes to bat.
I feel they took so much care
with their sets, the props.
The wardrobe killed me.
Oh my God, Armani did amazing.
Those suits and all the
The costuming was, oh, my God, timeless.
I was so moved by all of that.
This was such a full-on, well-executed movie.
Every level, the shots were really special and great.
Yeah, they worked with amazing people, cast and crew, I think.
That was really good.
I actually like that.
I really like how, at the end, I like how they had Elliott take his win and walk away.
And I loved the ending with the reporter.
So what are you going to do when he comes back?
And he's like, I'm going to take a drink.
Like that, that's pretty baller.
I mean, at that point, he's like, look, I did my job.
I got him.
So it matters.
And then like 11 years is a long time.
And when he comes back, somebody else's problem.
But at the same time, you're like, no, but I want you to get him again, you know?
And he's like, no, I did my job.
I did what I said I was going to do.
You know, because like he's out there.
he wanted to get the guy, he got the guy, and then he, and then it was so intense, he retired.
He was like, I'm going to protect my family.
And that goes back to in the beginning when Jim was talking to him, you know, about how much
you're going to lose and how far you have to go if you're going to attack somebody or go after
somebody.
Like, and it shows that he was at peace with that too, where he's like, you know what, I lost
a lot of my own rules and I broke everything, but I'm so happy with myself.
Like, I'm okay with all of it.
So that was a beautiful arc.
that he went through too.
That was pretty great.
I love, too, with the dialogue that they didn't have to get too wordy.
They didn't have to have huge long monologues.
They somehow wrote it really well to where, like, you got everything you needed to hear,
and then you filled in the rest, and that was good enough.
Like, you didn't have to.
I like that, yeah, I know, but I really want to be in that room.
And then afterwards, I was like, let it be, Kristen, let it be.
Let it play out.
And I'm like, I want to be there, too.
I'm so invested that
just
let me in
but I'm glad that you know
they did it the way they did
I love the swapperoo of the jury
that was a good move
and then I love how the immediately
the lawyers like
we play guilty
we're not going to win
yeah but
and I love that they didn't have to go too
gory either I mean I know we're like
super unfazed now by that
and back then it was probably
different. They probably thought this was super gory, but for me, I felt the violence and the tension
without having to have, like, blood and guts and things happening all the time. You know, they did a
good job. I think I'm still not censored to that stuff because I was affected. I stayed away from
that stuff. Totally. And you work here, ma'am? Yeah, this is where I've been exposed to it,
honestly. Like, everybody makes fun of me, and they're like, oh, I shouldn't even see this.
And it's like, no, I've been watching, like, cartoons, the same freaking car.
cartoon over and over again.
Okay, I didn't come from cable.
I didn't have like, no.
My mother gave me Disney VHS tapes.
I rewined it them.
I watched them several times in a row and I was outside.
When I did watch something, it was normally something that was sweet and innocent.
And now you're watching it and untouchables with me.
Yeah, and I'm not, I'm like, so I don't know.
For me, I'm like, I feel like since I started, like, when I met Charra and Javi, things just
completely changed.
The day they showed up to one of my premieres and we met and then they just, they're like,
you know what, we got to corrupt this girl.
We realized she doesn't know, jack shit.
And how do you feel now?
You know, I've been, I've been entered in a whole new world.
I've been so educated.
I understand what people are talking about now for a lot of different things, but I'm still like,
and sometimes I have nightmares, so whatever.
Therapy.
You do what you got at.
$20 is $20.
I'm enjoying the ride.
I'm enjoying the ride.
But this film was really great.
I loved it.
I love more of like an old, like, what's the word I'm looking for?
Like mobster movie?
I love mobster movies, but I love like, I love older films in general.
Era.
Yeah, older eras.
Like, period.
Films.
Sorry.
But just I like things that were made back.
Yep.
I don't know.
I like the grain.
I love like, I don't mind things being so crisp.
But if I had to choose between the two, I do like, I like more of like that greeny, like old
school vibe.
It's more emotional.
But then again, I think it's because that's what I grew up on, too, with my grandfather.
So I watched a shit ton of John Wayne films and Little House on the Prairie.
That's what Miss Christine grew up on, okay?
I don't know.
I really enjoyed this.
I did too.
You all, let us know your thoughts in the comments, and I hope you enjoyed this as much as we did.
It was heartbreaking, but I was heartbroken in this, but at the same time,
I'm like, let's go.
Let's go.
Amazing work.
It was very well done.
They did their homework.
I loved it.
