Starting point is 00:00:00 Sina. What's up, guys? It's Chris Stubbs-Pino, joined by Ms. Vivian Day. We love Twister so much. We're back for round two. Twisters. So, let's hop into it. We are traditional tornadoes.
Starting point is 00:00:18 I'll get my own face on a T-shirt. That'd be cool. If you're lucky. That'd be really cool. I'd wear one. You would? All right, Ben, you take that back. I'd wear one.
Starting point is 00:00:34 I think I love you. I know. I think he's like, okay, you take that back. That's my lady. He's like, I'm not going to wear your face, but I'll wear her face. She saved my life. That's what's up. Oh my gosh.
Starting point is 00:00:46 Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow. I don't know. Like, I absolutely love twisters. This was fun. It was a lot of fun. But the emotional damage that they set us up for was real. Like, it hurt. felt like the whole time while I'm watching this, I felt my stomach like, you know what you're
Starting point is 00:01:04 going on a ride like a free fall or something? And then it drops. My stomach kept getting in knots and kept going like dropping. And I felt choked up in my throat to the point where I'm like, don't do it. Don't do it. You're fun. Because there were so many times I felt, I started feeling emotional and I wanted to kind of cry. I'm like, I want to cry. I'm going to cry. And I'm like, no, I'm not, because I'm getting strong. I try to get stronger. It definitely feels like a choice where they didn't push that because they easily could have pushed that to be like super devastating. Yes, because she could have gone there.
Starting point is 00:01:41 Oh, a hundred. Oh, a lot. Like, she totally could have taken us there. 100%. I'm glad they kind of scaled it back so that we could just have a break. And not like, we were emotionally invested, but not so much to where like we're just crying the whole time. I'm just like, what's the point? It's hopeless.
Starting point is 00:01:58 But it was also fun. Like, they gave us a lot of upbeat, like, funny moments in this that you and I, like, we could not help but enjoy and love. I love that they didn't have the two characters, have a romantic moment. I love that we didn't do that. I love that we kept it very, like, I don't know. I don't know what it, like, I really like the fact that it was like, oh, we're still getting to know each other kind of deal, but like, hey, let's flirt and like, uh.
Starting point is 00:02:24 I, I really authentically thoroughly. enjoyed that and normally i feel like you know in any film they would have crossed that line or something like five minutes in and so it's kind of i like that that was definitely a choice to keep it that way and i don't mind that choice at all it makes them more her story instead of their like love story yes it makes me feel more invested maybe that's not the word i'm looking for but i almost feel like I almost feel more invested in them as a, as a, as a unit, but I'm still enjoying the flirtatious and the spunk between a growing relationship of, and that possibility of becoming more and the unknown of will they, won't they?
Starting point is 00:03:12 Knowing they totally will. You know, but you know what I mean? Yeah. It's almost like I felt as if I'm in a relationship and I'm in the butterfly phases of he, he, he, oh my gosh, and you kind of want to kiss. you kind of want to kiss the guy but you're also like oh does he like me though like does she like me like it kind of gave me those feelings of back in school when you're like in middle school high school you're figuring out these emotions and you're kind of like ooh but you're just friends
Starting point is 00:03:39 but you know you like there's something there but you're also there but you're also kind of like I don't know though because he didn't ask me out and I don't know and you don't really know if you should go for it or not I love that it was a natural innocence that they had with one another. And I really, really adored that about this film. And it's just, it was also pretty badass. I'm not going to, I'm not going to lie. I think the tornadoes, like, the work they did, everything was just pretty damn cool.
Starting point is 00:04:10 Go ahead. Agreed. So like their relationship is one of those where if this was a TV show, they would milk that chemistry for at least like two to three seasons. But then once they do kiss or connect or whatever. whatever. It's so gratifying or it's like, you're like, yeah, finally. After a three year for you. But you know it's happening. Their chemistry is so good. I love this movie too. It was exciting. I do think they followed the same formula as the first one that we watched. And like, it was
Starting point is 00:04:42 enjoyable though. I don't mind it at all because the whole time the anxiety was right there. The stakes were still high and I was so, they casted it really well. The cast was all. I was obsessed with that reporter, man. He was absolutely adorable. No, everybody, it's funny because in the beginning, I'm kind of like, wow, this is a very interesting crew that Tyler has. You know, I'm like, this is a very interesting crew. And I'm like, I don't know if I like them. They feel a little dirty to me.
Starting point is 00:05:12 Really? You know, like a part of me feels like, I'm like, these guys are just like, and then a part of me is like, you, we have to crack the jokes on the influencer, YouTube, whatever. You got to hit it. If you don't hit that, you're not doing your job. So even with that, I'm like, it's funny how much everything's shifting. We're like, I love these characters. Like, every single one. I love all the weirdos.
Starting point is 00:05:33 Like, let's go. They're not weird at all. These are like the real badass OGs. Okay, I really did think we were going to use Havis guy that, you know, he said something about the sense of humor. Scott. Scott. Mr. Scott.
Starting point is 00:05:48 I thought that we were going to have more of a complex. liked with this man we didn't we didn't have that and I'm okay with that like I was not upset but I really did feel like we were going to have something a little bit more like sleazy or something happened between him and Kate but I'm okay that it didn't there's not I don't know if there's even anything in here that I would change because I I liked all the choices they made I love that there's so much room for more too yes like they could easily turn this into a show they could easily do more and more and more sequels third, fourth, fifth, like a whole series, a whole, like keep the franchise going. I think they ended it perfectly, even if it was just a standalone by itself. You know, it's funny because I was wrong about, I thought we were going to lose two characters in the beginning. I thought it was going to be her boyfriend for sure and the girl. I thought you called out that it was three. No, I didn't. I missed the computer mate, the computer boy. Oh, I thought he was the first guy. You're like, yep, he's gone. And then two more. I was like, she got it. I don't know right. I don't think I did.
Starting point is 00:06:53 I don't think I added the computer boy. I think I said, I knew he was going to go. So maybe I was just like adding on. It was they, I'm not, through the whole thing, I, this is interesting for me because normally when you lose people that early, like you feel for it, but you're kind of like, whatever. I think they did a really solid job at establishing the friendship, even though it was so short, the characters who they cast in
Starting point is 00:07:21 I actually truly did authentically like right off the gate I was like these guys are great you saw the bond these these kids are awesome and so after we lost all three of them man they were with me through the whole thing and I'm still like I'm I was like bummed out about them through the whole film
Starting point is 00:07:42 and I'm just like man I feel for you I get it and I know that hobby like he also lost his friends but the difference was she witnessed it she witnessed it and I wish they kind of had a moment where he kind of like went off on her I wish she kind of sat there she's like yeah you lost my eye witnessed it I saw them and could not do anything about it and this is why like we need to save these people like or something I wish that we had like a little bit of a moment like that maybe but I think that was killing me just knowing that she because I could not imagine if something like that happened to me like if I was with
Starting point is 00:08:19 or something and we're sitting there and you went soon and I witnessed you disappear or die no there's no coming back from that lots of therapy there's no I would and then and then say Jabby or Chara you know they survived and they're like oh it's so sad
Starting point is 00:08:35 it's like yeah but you didn't see it gone you didn't see if there's a difference there's a difference between being on the other side I mean yes it still sucks and it's going to still hurt because you're all super tight but that's a whole another level of emotional damage and this baby girl went out there grab this man uh they grabbed this man
Starting point is 00:08:56 Tyler's truck she learned how to work it one time she's like yo we're going for it I love that you brought that up too because I feel like they paid a lot of attention to everything that gets affected by these torn natos and it was important for them to tell that story too. Like, yeah, it's crazy. It's scary. It's cool. And it happens all the time. But it's actually quite devastating. And there are sharks out there who come out and swoop in right away. And, you know, they take, take when someone's vulnerable with. Yeah. It's like what they did in Maui. Exactly. It's like what they did in Maui. We went through that massive devastation. I have friends and like friends who I consider family who have lost our homes and they,
Starting point is 00:09:41 people are going out there immediately. And that's the thing I don't understand. It's so sick that immediately after disaster somebody would go in and be like hey let me take your thing no how about you go out there and say how can I help you build me a shelter you know like let's help you get back on your feet so you can rebuild
Starting point is 00:10:01 the home you just lost exactly and then it's interesting because the people who also have insurance and then they cut it off they're like oh we can't help you and it's like really I don't know and this happens worldwide all the time not just natural disasters in general And the fact they did hit that on the nail, right?
Starting point is 00:10:20 Yeah, these corporates and whatever, people have all this money. They come out and then they just take advantage. And when you're in that situation, I have, I have friends who had to take that deal, even though it was the worst deal. It's horrible. And they get way more, but they're in need and it becomes survival. Right? It becomes survival.
Starting point is 00:10:40 It's, okay, do I, right now, in order for me to survive, I need something. And if I don't have anything, I'm not going to survive. And I know if I wait for X, you know, for X amount of time, yes, I can get what I, you know, could actually earn off of this and actually make like a whatever. But because you're in such a devastation, like in that moment and you need to survive, you end up taking these offers that are bullshit. And taking a flight out.
Starting point is 00:11:11 No. And that's exactly how they get rid of it. But I feel like that should be illegal. It should be illegal. And I love that they touched on that. I do too. So heavily here and made it such a strong character point for all the cast members who did know. They're like, we've been through this.
Starting point is 00:11:27 And immediately, the first thing they do is, we got to go help. It doesn't matter what we're here for. We got to go help right now. And like put down everything and get everyone safe. It's like you can be passionate about something, but you still like the lives of other. In a community, exactly. Community means more than anything. And I'm like, I do love that.
Starting point is 00:11:45 they did that. And I love. Unexpected. Yes. No, you know what also was unexpected? I really love that. We have Tyler and he's doing this YouTube. We're talking trash on this poor man and his crew. We're like, ah, get out of the way.
Starting point is 00:11:57 We're doing real work. They were doing real work too. They're like, no. Where do you think the money goes for? Yeah. Maybe it wasn't like crazy. But for those people who needed that water or those snacks or whatever, it was important. Even that like that small little contribution, like it makes a huge.
Starting point is 00:12:15 difference and if that's that's the only way they saw that they could help and they went for it they're like okay well at least i'm doing something and trying versus okay i'm not going to do anything because i just can't i can only give like this much but that little much goes a long way so i really i i i think this was an uplifting film i think it's it was devastating it showed reality it showed but it also showed so much good that can be done even by doing the smallest acts of generosity, like how far it goes. I really enjoyed this. I know Steven Spielberg was a producer on this and you could see a lot of his touches with action and also how he captured the innocence too, I think, in the relationship so easily without much dialogue or without
Starting point is 00:13:03 storybuilding. It was amazing. He's good at that. I'm wondering about the director because I saw a little bloop where they're like, oh, the main cast loves how the director. approached it, Lee Isaac Chung. I'm so curious now to see what he's done and what his method is because he has such a way of creating chemistry. And of course, props to casting directors and workers as well, but I feel like he was able to touch on something really special here. So I wonder if that's just consistently him or what it is. But it was really enjoyable to watch. It was really well executed by everyone. The graphics were really good too. The music was good too. Some sound stuff. I was like, that could have been a little tweaked, but overall it was really good.
Starting point is 00:13:50 No, and I think the message overall chasing your fears, what Tyler said, is that you don't face your fears, you ride them. I really like that. And I really like the fact that this, this film also shows you, hey, like, okay, if it scares you, cool. Good. Good. You should be, you should be scared. But keep going for what you believe in, what you dream. Like, dream big and go for it. because at the end of the day that's where you get the biggest reward, right? The world needs to. When you jump, when you jump
Starting point is 00:14:19 and you're not ready to jump, I don't know. I really, I authentically love this film. It was good. It was good. So, well done, everybody. Well done. Have I mean, anything else you want to say?
Starting point is 00:14:29 That's it. I really enjoyed it. I did too. It's really quality movie. It was. I totally recommend. I was scared. I was scared it wasn't going to be
Starting point is 00:14:36 because, you know, sometimes sequels and et cetera. That can be not great. But this was amazing. It tracks. It was good. We loved it. More.
