Starting point is 00:00:00 Senna. Pals. What's up, everyone? Welcome back. It's Achirikirk and Kristen Steffitin Pino. Hi. And we are carrying on with X-Men. This is X-Men Days of Future Past.
Starting point is 00:00:12 All right, let's jump into it. Here we go. Countless choices define our fate. Each choice, each moment, a ripple. This is how we got you this time. What you want us to do with the Major Stryker? I'll take him from here. for the future is never truly said.
Starting point is 00:00:34 Oh. Very good, very good. Oh my gosh. It gets better and better. Yeah. You know, wow. Honestly, I didn't remember this one at all. The only thing I remembered was Quicksilver and that scene in the kitchen.
Starting point is 00:00:58 That was in. Say what you feel about it since this was like your very, very first time watching it. Where to start. Okay, this one, I felt more anxious, but like nervous. I felt emotional. I'm so glad. Okay, this goes back to when I was like,
Starting point is 00:01:14 they got to bring them back somehow. Right. Right? And I'm glad they did, but now I'm upset because of the history we lost, right? And we have a whole new history. And everything I know, I don't know anymore. I mean, they recond a bunch of stuff. And so it's like, that is a way to bring back everything and just kind of have it be like, we get everyone back.
Starting point is 00:01:39 That's because in that shit one, they messed up and they're like, oh, shoot, dude, we got to bring it back because we're making billions off this. It's so damn good and we screwed up. Yeah. And that's what they're recovering well. We forgive you for that. Yeah. That one mess up. How freaking fun was this?
Starting point is 00:01:56 Okay. I love their younger selves. because you can relate to the shitheadness in them and you're like, but it makes it spicy and like spunky and just that much more fun because now you're just saying things because you don't give a shit because you're just young you think you know everything in the world.
Starting point is 00:02:15 And so I love that. Yeah. They're not as naive. And I personally love the naïveness. Yeah, absolutely. I love the learning curves. Like that is just hilarious to me. And I'm like, how cool.
Starting point is 00:02:28 Yeah. I mean, I think it was a really fun way of getting us to be able to have the young generation, like their past selves, and then their like present, older selves as well, all in the same movie. That was like really satisfying to watch. Oh, yeah. And it's even more satisfying to see your crew back. You're like, finally we're back. All right, I would forgive you. But at the same time, I see it as, yeah, you effed up.
Starting point is 00:02:56 you and that's why you had to redeem yourself and bring them back because you know they messed up like big time and they probably pissed off so many people and that's why they're like we're going to lose our pants maybe you know I think they're always at risk of that I know but the way they did it because if they would have done this any other way everybody probably would have hated it okay if they did it any other way I feel like they could have probably would have hated it if they didn't make it as strong and as powerful as they did for this one, 10 at 10. I mean, I love it. I really love.
Starting point is 00:03:34 So the last movie was directed by Matthew Vaughn, and this one was directed by Brian Singer. If I remember correctly, I think Brian Singer, did he direct either the first one, the second, or both of them? or like the earlier ones. Matthew Vaughn often writes with Jane Goldman, I think is her name. And they work so well together. Like she writes fabulous scripts and I saw her name in the credits as well. Simon Kinberg also wrote this too. And I just think the writing is so, so good.
Starting point is 00:04:09 Because like, you know, we know these characters, we care about them, but the stakes are so high. Yeah. And everything is like so important. And the way that the story was put together, it's like, it kind of breaks our hearts, I think, to be able to see in the very beginning, in the first scene, like, some of the characters that we love dying. Yeah. And then to find out, like, oh, no, it's okay, we can save them. And then at the end, they're like, no, but we're going to let you see them die again.
Starting point is 00:04:38 And then we're going to let you have them saved. Oh, they just, they hurt us every single time. And then they kind of redeem themselves. And then there's other times you're just like, I got to take the L. And I love Mystique's character. Yeah. So much.
Starting point is 00:04:57 But I love how much more we're learning about her character, especially because in the first year, you know, she's very mysterious. Yeah. And more on the quiet side and doesn't say much. She's just a badass. Yeah. But you can't, but even then,
Starting point is 00:05:10 you still can't help but love her character and hate her at the same time because she's so like, you're like, she's ruthless yes and you're like your power is so damn good I hate you but I love you and even with the guys both guys I feel bad for her because I feel like she's always like stuck in the middle she's in the stuck in the middle and she's just constantly in a heartbreak and she loves and adores both of them so much yeah and I can't we erased the past right so if we erase the past then when McNeito abandoned her after she turned human then that probably
Starting point is 00:05:45 never happened, where I wanted to see what was going to happen. So now I'm kind of like a little bit torn with the past and the future because I really wanted to see what happened, how they would create this story of her becoming human, but then making her way back because Magneto made his way back. So clearly she had to have somewhere made her way back as well. And for somebody like the OG, like that's her family. You know what I mean? For them to just, like, abandon her the moment she turned a human,
Starting point is 00:06:18 I'm still stuck on that. So with this one, now I'm like, oh, well, I'm going to erase that thoughts. So I got to let that. I got to let my grudge go. But I don't want to let it go because I still want to see what would have happened. Right. So I'm a little bit irritated because I'm like, I feel like there's a lot of different hypes from the past that I want.
Starting point is 00:06:39 But if that's the case, too, that means his brother can come back. Wait, whose brother? X-man. What's his name? Oh, my God. Why am I having a... You're like scissors? Oh, you mean Wolverine's brother.
Starting point is 00:06:50 Okay, yeah, yeah. I feel like this is an opening to bring Wolverine's brother back. Yeah, okay. Yeah, I mean, the thing is, anything can happen with these movies, right? This is what I've come to learn. And this is why sometimes when I watch things and characters die, another part goes, yes, but if they really want to, they can find a way to bring him back, you know? It's actually really fun watching it.
Starting point is 00:07:15 in very quick succession, like we have been, because you can, you know, like you were saying, you can keep the elements of the story together and all of that. And so, like, when things work, it's like, oh, this really works. Like, it feels like it's carrying on the story that we know. And then when they don't work, that's when we go, ah, why did you do that? That feels weird.
Starting point is 00:07:37 But this one I really liked because, like, the whole concept of being able to go back to the past and change things to see your younger self and especially that scene where Professor X, young and old got to connect. How beautiful was that scene? Yeah, it was lovely.
Starting point is 00:07:54 And the lines were just pure magic. Yeah. Like, so I don't watch. If I know there's like a series or TV show, people are watching and it's so good. I don't watch it until that trend's done. Oh, okay. Because then when I do go in and watch it,
Starting point is 00:08:13 they're all there. That's something I don't do. Like, does that make sense? Oh, okay. Like, you just want to be able to watch all the episodes back to back. Yeah, but normally I just don't hop on the, I mean, I don't watch that much film, like videos and stuff like that to begin with, except for when I come here.
Starting point is 00:08:25 But I've noticed my trend is if there's something trending, I won't jump on that bandwagon until it dies out because, and then finally I get curious once it dies out. Because I'm like, oh, it's, like, it's kind of gone. And I'm like, okay, maybe now I can watch it. Because then I could just go through all of it. Yeah. And I never have to wait. And so it's interesting that we're doing this.
Starting point is 00:08:47 I just never thought that I would be so invested or hooked on anything Marvel or anything. I think I was just like annoyed with my younger sister, honestly, when she would talk about these things. It's interesting and I feel so bad. And I feel like I owe her a big apology because I probably, I wish, I almost wish I would have enjoyed them with her growing up. You know, and I feel like I did her dirty. I feel like I did it dirty. It's really good. It's really good.
Starting point is 00:09:16 But it also had a lot to do with like if I didn't go or I missed it, she would spoil everything all the time. So I was just like, you can't spoil anything for me. I haven't seen it. And I feel bad. But at the same time, I'm glad that I'm finally like doing in this. And I was never really a fan of like action films and stuff like that. And now I'm like absolutely obsessed.
Starting point is 00:09:36 So well done, guys. Well done. Well done. Well done. I didn't think it could be done. and they did the impossible. Well, I think it's also, like, a lot of it has to do with just the characters, and that has to do with, like, I think just Marvel comics in general,
Starting point is 00:09:56 writing such deep and layered characters. But I also feel like if I would have watched it when they did come out, my comprehension would not be there, because the level of my comprehension now is a lot stronger than it once was. Because I didn't understand, I didn't, I thought, I understood English, but I didn't. My comprehension level was like maybe of like, I don't know, maybe a 10 year old or like seven, eight year old. And I thought because I knew how to ask for food and this and that, I thought I understood.
Starting point is 00:10:25 But there's so much of this, I wouldn't have understood fully where now I'm like, whoa, this is deep. Yeah, it is deep and it's really layered. I feel like I have to let you in on something. Okay, so because you've been watching some of the MCU as well, right? And you saw Avengers. You've seen Avengers Age of Ultron, which I'm not sure if by the time this reaction comes out if that one has already come out on the channel yet. So quicksilver that we saw in this movie, Peter Maximoff, is the same character
Starting point is 00:11:04 as Pietro Maximoff that is Scarlet Witch's. brother and he has the same power yeah same power and that's okay that you didn't get they used different actors and they're like a completely different no but you know it's interesting too does that mean the little girl he was holding in this one it was probably her yeah weren't they twins in this one though yeah they do they they do things differently remember their twins yeah see but how am i supposed to know that when the guy doesn't even have i mean yeah they use different actors they should stick to the same actors personally that's what i think it's like it's like She'd give me a heads up.
Starting point is 00:11:40 It's a whole, like, politics thing. It's a whole politics thing. But then in this one, he didn't have a twin. They should have showed his twin. Yeah. He's holding a sister, but she's way younger. I think it's like a weird, probably a weird licensing thing where it's like, okay, well, we managed to get the licensing for this character. No, no.
Starting point is 00:11:59 We can't. What you said to me, what you told me before I keep remembering, continuity is not a thing. It's not that important. It's not important in this. Not that serious. Just know, okay, just know that sometimes things pop up. Got it. Noted.
Starting point is 00:12:14 Yeah. Some things don't make sense. Got it. Just go with it. Go with it. Trust the process. All right. I'm letting go.
Starting point is 00:12:22 I'm after this and I think I'm officially just going to let it go and let it be. Anyway, it's just like, it's a weird thing where these things happen. And maybe some people will jump down my throat in the comments and be like, you shouldn't have told her that or whatever. But, you know, it's just these weird little connections because of how. how everything is set up with the studios and all of that. Yeah. And, you know, casting different actors and kind of changing the characters up a little bit,
Starting point is 00:12:48 but keeping some of the stuff the same. He was great, though. I freaking love Peter Maximoff. I forget the name of the actor now. I did a mess up in that reaction because I thought I got my DC and Marvel's mixed up. And I was like, oh, they had to kill him off because they have the flash. I make room for the flash and I'm like But you know what? Mock my words
Starting point is 00:13:11 They're going to all merge and that comment It's going to make sense One day One day One day That comment I had made about Them getting rid of him for Flash Will somehow make
Starting point is 00:13:24 Sense in some shape of form Okay Uh huh And it's still not going to make sense because we got to go like this Continuity does not matter I don't think I don't know if that will ever happen. But if they merge it, then didn't you guys tell me they might?
Starting point is 00:13:43 Yes, but this is all Marvel. Marvel, DC's like its own other thing. But they might. No. One day. I don't know. I've heard people say, I've heard people say, maybe they might. They might.
Starting point is 00:13:57 Anything is possible. If they do, okay, this is 2024, remember, Kristen Stefan Sabino said, what her comment that drives you crazy somehow magically makes sense one day who knows anything is possible I mean if we learned anything from this movie is that you can change the future by sending ripples in the past
Starting point is 00:14:22 future and the history yeah all I know is like in the future I'm going to come back to this video and I'm going to take a screen record of this and I'm going to post it and be like I called it yeah you saw it here first You saw your first.
Starting point is 00:14:36 Anyway, you guys, before we go off the rails anymore, thanks for joining. Hope you enjoyed that. That was amazing. So good. I'm like going to give another applause because how do you even beat that? How do you even top that one? Yeah, I don't know if they can top that one because I think by far, as of right now, I think that was my favorite one. I think that's my favorite one as well.
Starting point is 00:14:58 That's my favorite one. During this revisit, I'm like, actually, I thought first class was my favorite one. And then... That was mine originally, but as of today, this is my favorite, by far. So good. Yep. Just so well done. I don't know if they...
Starting point is 00:15:13 I don't think they can top this one. We'll find out. So make sure that you're subscribed so you can continue on this journey with us as we revisit the X-Men films, The Good and the Bad. And we will see you next time. I'm a Chara Cook. This is... Kristen, Stefan Zepino.
Starting point is 00:15:28 Ciao!
