I have heard a lot of talk about how the United States is either on the brink of a 2nd Civil War or steadily marching toward it. I can't say that I agree, and perhaps the blowhards should just sit down for a bit. https://spartanforge.ai/  

Well, hello, everybody. For all of you who clicked on the thumbnail because it says, prepare for Civil War, and you thought you were going to get a detailed and emotional and enthusiastic description of our impending destruction and doom, I'm sorry. The title was totally clickbait, because it's not how I feel. And I really wish people would stop talking about it in those terms. And that's actually what I'm going to be talking about. And this is kind of similar to what we used to do overseas, but it really can help you coordinate inside of groups, individuals, groups, sharing pens, however you want to skin that particular cat, it helps coordinate in numbers that are larger than one. Another thing I should really like about this is the LIDAR and the 3D maps. I have been using this more for helicopter stuff than anything

because looking at a traditional map, especially if it's 2D, it's really hard to tell what the terrain features are going to be like. And then if there is foliage on top of that, it's even harder to tell sometimes. So you can compare these images left and right and take a look at what LIDAR is actually showing you there. And it's giving you an idea of the slope in the case where I'm looking for in helicopters, the flatness of the terrain absent having any of the foliage on top, which I think is awesome. So if you're a hunter, I definitely recommend the Spartan Forge app.

But like I said, I have actually been using this for far more things outside of hunting, even though I'm in the throes of hunting season. I am using it for that. But man, I have been using it for a lot of other stuff. There's a free app version that you can use as well. You can go to the iTunes store or the Android store, whichever version of the phone you may use. And that's it. Check it out.

All right, ladies and gentlemen, like I said, the title was, totally clickbait on the thumbnail. Not that I wanted to really fuck with people, because I don't. Actually, this is a particular topic for me that has been eating up a good amount of my bandwidth

and free time thinking about where we are and how we got here and what we need to do moving forward. For whatever reason, I have seen an immense uptick in the usage of even just the words, civil war. And people thinking that we are slowly marching towards the precipice of our country tearing itself apart. And one of the things that has bothered me the most is that I have seen people that I respect reaching the threshold of what I would call promoting or advocating the need for a civil war. And it breaks my heart. Because I think above everything else, this is my personal opinion. I had limited military experience. But in that limited military experience, and what I'm about to say is my opinion and my opinion only, I don't speak for anybody other

than myself. But in my opinion, anybody with a background similar to my own that has actually engaged in any level of armed conflict. It is your obligation to talk people and lead them away from that tipping point where they think that terms like civil war are reasonable. Because you know what it looks like. You know how horrendous it can be. You've seen sometimes the outcome of that type of warfare, and why anybody would be advocating for that who has ever been proximal to it in any way, shape, or form does not make sense to me. And I know this is a complicated topic. And I'm going to do my best to not dedicate this episode to this topic in and of itself. We'll see how it goes, because I have so many thoughts on this, it's actually a little bit

difficult to get them all out. And I feel like I'm probably going to miss a few, or I'll miss speak on some other ones. I have a question in front of me. Maybe I'll read it. Maybe I won't. Maybe I'll just stick to the pure topic of civil war. I've been active more on certain social platforms trying to engage with people that are using this terminology. And even from a mechanical perspective, and this is actually what I have been phrasing a lot of my engagement with, I've been asking people who are really using this term. And like I said, I don't want to overstate their positions, but it seems to me, in my opinion, that they are promoting and almost advocating for Civil War. What are the mechanics of that going to look like?

And I am baffled how we seem to have arrived at a place where there is going to be. to be in one week from today. This is how my week has been going, by the way, before I get into this. I woke up this morning and I went into the coffee shop and I saw somebody wearing some really weird clothing. And I even said to them, what the hell are you wearing? And why are you wearing that? And they said to me, dude, it's Halloween. And I said, holy shit. I didn't even realize that. I didn't even know what day of the week it was until earlier today. That's how my week has been. It has, I've been in a fucking time machine, it feels like. I have been on the road, more travel to come recording this the day before it comes out. So I'm recording this on Halloween.

Even though I didn't even know it was Halloween, I feel like I need to get some candy for where I live because I don't think we're prepared for trick or treaters to come over. But I digress. It's been a wild one. How did I even get off on that topic? I don't even know. Engaging on social media, the mechanics. How did we get to this place where in a week from Tuesday, the 5th, November 5th, whenever the hell that's going to be. There's going to be an election outcome. And regardless of the way it goes, one party is not going to be happy. And it seems like we've arrived at a place where there is an election outcome that you don't

want to accept and civil war on the other side. And it is as if we have forgotten. every other possible scenario that exists between the two. And I am dumbfounded as to how we have gotten there. And some of the responses that I've received on social media of people explaining their position and why they feel that way, you know, it's rhetoric. It is the left or it is the right. And these people are saying this. And these people are saying that. So I have to do this, that or the other. The justifications are interesting to say the least. Oftentimes, in my opinion, not very nuanced and don't seem to be very well thought out. They seem to be

emotionally based. Nobody seems to feel that the election is going to have any level of validity because there are arguments literally on both sides that are almost identical. And they boil down to this. If my candidate wins, then of course clearly the election process is working as it should. But if they lose, well, it's rigged. It has to be broken. There has to be fuckery because only a sane person would believe the way that I believe. And yep, if it's, you know, if the election goes to shit, then we're just going to be banging it out in the streets. So I've been asking people online to break down for me the mechanics of what that would look like.

What would a civil war look like if we somehow lose complete and utter faith in our election system, which I am not saying is not flawed by any stretch of the people. imagination. I'd actually be shocked if there wasn't fuckery in any election since the inception of elections. Now, we could argue about the scope size and scale, but I don't think we've ever had an election that was without interference or tampering to some degree. I do believe it happens on both sides as well. But if we lose that, and I hear these people, prepare yourself, get ready for a civil war. It's getting ready to go down. What the fuck do you mean? by that. Can we take a breath and a break for a second? Can we take a literal and metaphorical knee and breathe? Can somebody break down for me what it looks like? What does your enemy look like in this

civil war? You know, in the first civil war, which I don't claim to be an expert on by any stretch of the imagination, there were differences in our country from population, from an infrastructure, a government size. I would say moral beliefs, but I mean, I think that's always been up for grabs. People are always going to have different beliefs and morals and ideology. So, you know, that's probably never going to go away. But even geographically, it was the North versus the South. There is no more North versus South. Every state that we have is a mix of both blue, and red. So when this civil war breaks out, who are you going to be fighting? How are you going to identify who your enemy is? Are you going to go check bumper stickers on vehicles? And if that person

has a bumper sticker that aligns with a political party that you don't agree with, they're your enemy? Is it people who have campaign posters in the front of their yard? Is it people that don't look like you? Is it people that have expressed a different opinion than you? Is it you taking up arms against this global elite that is unwilling to relinquish power, even though I cannot get somebody to describe for me exactly what that actually looks like, who these people are? Is it civilians rising up against their government? But the government by that, do you mean the infrastructure in Washington, D.C.? Or do you mean all federal agencies to include the DOD and the National Guard? where are we going with this type of rhetoric?

And why are people with large social platforms, with backgrounds similar to my own, telling people to get ready for this and advocating for it? It fucking breaks my heart. Because I, again, and my opinion only counts for me, believe they have an obligation to lead people in the other direction. I cannot fathom a world in the United States where Americans are taking up arms against other Americans because of the outcome of a political election.

Conceptually, yes, I guess I could see how that would happen. But the mechanics on the ground, I don't think people are ready for that. And that is why I don't understand why those who have touched it would be. do anything other than stand up and be a leader and try to talk people away from that. We need to explore every other option available before even bringing that option to the table. And people will say, well, we have. No, we fucking haven't. We really haven't at all.

And if you don't believe me, at the end of this election cycle, do me a favor and look at the number of people who voted versus the number of people who were eligible to vote. and just get out of here already with the, you know, there's 20 million illegals that are going to be voting and all of these things. Just look at the percentage of people in the United States who had the legal right to vote who chose not to. And until we can get that number as close to 100% as possible, you know, like that should actually probably be what we should be leading with as opposed to talk about civil war. It is disheartening. It is language that is not helping anybody. If anything, it is inflating and throwing logs onto a fire of what already is or what seems to be a tinderbox of absolute and complete emotion. You know, God, it goes so much deeper than that, too.

People talking about, well, this person endorsed that person and that person. and that person, who gives a shit? Why do people feel obligated to tell anybody who they're going to be voting for? Why do we feel obligated to wear our feelings and beliefs on our sleeves or on our flag or our car and our bumper sticker? Is it, and if you want to be that person that has those beliefs and that are doing that, by all means, do so. But why? People have asked me for the last month, who am I voting for. Here's my answer. None of your fucking business. I have friends that are going to vote left, and I have friends that are going to vote right. And nobody is going to be treated any differently by me based off what they tick or press or whatever it may be in the ballot

box, whatever format they may be voting. It's not going to change how I treat you. I'm actually really grateful we live in a place where, A, we have a choice, even though I think an argument could be made that if the two candidates we have presented in front of us are the best that 360 plus million people have to offer, we should probably rework our system. And I've said that time and time and time again that I feel like changes need to be made and that our government is too big. And that's a subject for an episode for another day. And it's ground that I've already tilled multiple times. And so an attempt not to repeat myself, I'm going to leave that one to where it is. But I don't think people understand what we have.

And it worries me because without that understanding, I feel like they are much more likely to casually throw it away. And I don't know how to bring that level of understanding to people, other than using the voices of those who have been to those places, who have sacrificed in those places, who have interacted with those systems and seen how horrendously bad it can be in those areas and sharing that with people

and walking them back from this edge that we don't need to fall into. We're better than this. And the people that are out there advocating for this type of thing, I want to believe that you are better than this as well. And I don't know what to do from here. other than to, I guess, A, be honest about how I feel. B, provide the most objective feedback that I can on at least my own experiences and my own

opinions. And C, do everything that I can to try to deflate the anger and emotion that I see on. And again, this is an interesting conversation between the balance of real life and social media. I see a lot of anger and emotion on social media. I don't see a lot of that in my real life. That could be a metric of where I live, though, geographically and population size. But either way, I feel like I am obligated to try to de-escalate where I see others escalating. Now, maybe the best way to end this episode is just with a question to people. What's more important to you? Being right, in your own personal beliefs, or having a country that remains where you don't have to be right.

And we can still accept people that believe the exact opposite of what you may believe. And they still have the right to express that. And we can still live together as citizens and as a community. To me, the latter is more important. We don't get there by burning down what we have. we get there largely by ignoring most of the bullshit that we see online, focusing on our communities, and working together. And people will say, well, no, it's past that point. Is it?

I don't think so. Is it going to be easy? No, I don't think it's going to be easy at all. But the first step in that process is not burning this fucker to the ground. And so for those of you out there calling for civil war, now I'll end it with this. please just stop you have no idea what it is that you're asking for and at the end of that you're not going to have the country that you want it's not going to come through destruction it's going to come through finding the common ground with the people that we share this country
