Starting point is 00:00:00 We did get lucky a little bit. We got in our first PSA submission order. LeBron James, 2024, Top's finest, die cut. I think this card is just really awesome. 13 out of 150. It is worth $65. Worth it. Now we're getting it into the tens.
Starting point is 00:00:18 2024 select Damien Lillard. It's about $100. 2025. Don Russ Optic. Ted McMillan. This was also 10. Auto. That card, PSA 10.
Starting point is 00:00:30 225, 2024. Caleb Williams, Phoenix, Venetian, $300. Oh, that's got to be. Triple Auto, Julio Jones, Roddy White, and Andre Reisen. 7 out of 10. An out of 10, triple auto. You don't get those every day. No.
Starting point is 00:00:47 Like, comment, subscribe, darn it. Yeah, and maybe it'll get lucky. We'll find you. I can give you one. Welcome to the Collector Nation podcast here on the Collector Nation Network. Whether you're chasing grails or calling bluffs, you take you inside the hobby. Here are your hosts, Ryan Alford and Brian Lutt. What's up guys?
Starting point is 00:01:15 Welcome to Collector Nation here on the Collector Nation Network. You got Ryan and Bella. It's R&B. Yeah. No R&B tunes. No extra B today. Yeah, no R-O-BB and Brian. CEO of LuddX, who usually joins us on these Fridays episode.
Starting point is 00:01:31 is busy running a company. I mean, how dare him? I know. With all the craziness of this summer, he's like everybody else and running around like a chicken with the sun. You know, two weeks and counting to the national and doing, you know, business deals behind the scenes.
Starting point is 00:01:47 I'm getting excited. Like, I can't believe it's finally here. Exactly. Two weeks. I, uh, I feel, I knew it was going to kind of happen this way because it felt like forever, you know, four months, three months,
Starting point is 00:02:00 out of two weeks. I knew it was going to kind of, it's not snuck up on me. But there's a lot of prepare. I mean, even for us. Oh, yeah. For you. My brain's like hardwiring a little bit. How many different little printed things we've got going on?
Starting point is 00:02:14 How many, you know, events and podcasts and all that stuff. It's fun, though. It will be overwhelming even without that. Oh, yeah. No, I'm just mentally prepared to be overwhelmed the whole time. so then hopefully it's not as overwhelming. Yeah, it's not. But I was looking at the Luddax interactive map today,
Starting point is 00:02:37 and I mean, it's hard to not be overwhelmed. Yes, it is. It's a lot going on. You just got a, hey, an elephant, one bite at a time, baby. Yeah. It's going to be one tiny one national thing at a time. I think I need to get more comfortable shoes. Yes.
Starting point is 00:02:59 Oh, you definitely do. I've also been trying to think of a funny stick I could have, you know, like, what if I show up in like a wig, just like every day, a new colored wig? So then I'm just like wig girl. Exactly. I think it's proper. I'm just going to jump ahead on the schedule because it's on here. We do record this sometimes the day before, sometimes two days earlier. But England and Argentina are playing on our 200-inch, I think that's what it is, 150, something.
Starting point is 00:03:26 Very large screen here in collector station. more of a sports bar, let's call it what it is, than a card shop. If a card shop ate a sports bar, it's kind of what this is, or vice versa. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:03:39 But yeah, they're playing. They're 12 minutes in at zero zero. When you hear this, we'll have the team maybe dub over. Yeah. Well, what the final ended up being.
Starting point is 00:03:48 I personally am hoping Argentina wins, and I know that that's kind of a hot take in the soccer community. But I entered the DoorDash, competition to like where you picked a winner and then whoever picked a winner that winner they split whatever amount of door dash money evenly amongst the people and i picked argentina so like now that holland is out in norway like i was rooting for them as like a fan favorite you know he's just a character but now that they're out of it i'm like okay now you want now i want argentina because i
Starting point is 00:04:23 want free food there you go free food and messy for life yeah uh i i'm not i'm not i'm not I watched Spain and France yesterday and my son, who's, you know, suddenly everybody's a little bit in a soccer, but not really. Yeah. I've already admitted it's not my favorite thing. The quality of it yesterday was hard to ignore. I know it's all good quality, but it just felt elevated. I enjoyed. I watched the whole game.
Starting point is 00:04:48 Wow. The entire game. I'm so proud of you. I got back from vacation. That's why I do have this tan. You know, you get a tan on vacation. We went down to Folly Beach. Boys and Nicole and I had all.
Starting point is 00:04:59 All six of us there. And anyway, we got back. It was just, you know, vacation from, you got to have like a night of vacation from your vacation. Because I don't know what vacations you're going on. No, we were doing like family vacation. But like you get, I don't know, you're back in your own house, your bed, you've traveled all day to get home. Yeah. Are you a robot or something?
Starting point is 00:05:24 Like, I think everyone else listening is going, yeah, I know what he means. I know I'm always tired when I get back from vacation. But yeah. And so plop down on the couch with my job. Jersey mic sub, shameless non-sponsored plug, and I watched it from beginning to end. High quality. And Spain just looked, you know, dominant. And all the good.
Starting point is 00:05:46 Didn't score. Oh, all sides. That'll give me started on all the little intricacies of soccer. I didn't realize. So if you beat the man down, you get penalized. Hmm. I know there's somebody's going to, you know, hate mail me, why that is. And I'm sure there is.
Starting point is 00:06:01 But like, you can cherry picking basketball. Why can you cherry picking soccer? I didn't realize how many, like, slight offside rules there were. And, yeah, I mean, I've been learning a lot. And it's been fun and interesting. And I don't know. I'm kind of sad that the World Cup is coming to an end.
Starting point is 00:06:20 I think it brought the world together. Maybe. I'm not really sad about it. I'm excited to watch the final. whoever it might be. I'm thinking Spain might take the cake, though. I think Spain is, too. God, they look good.
Starting point is 00:06:37 You got a lot of weapons, a lot of options. Yeah. So that was fun. And we'll see what happens in the final. Oddly enough, so, you know, Fanatics Fest is happening as we speak and this whole weekend. They're actually releasing a football X football, a little jersey switchup where they're recreating. NFL jerseys into soccer kit jerseys. And they're releasing me during FanaticSys.
Starting point is 00:07:07 I like that. And to be honest, I'd probably rather wear soccer shirt than an NFL jersey. So if I've, I mean, they look cool. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, that's more, you know, jerseys is kind of like, hey, I'm in a jersey. And I've got a couple, but Nicole doesn't let me wear them. It's probably a good thing. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:07:25 You get, it's the shirt. Does that make sense? I like that. And look, I was a, I was, I did both last year. They were a little more spread apart, National Infanax Fest. But now, two weeks, I mean, you know, I know you can't plan. You know, Tofts and Fanax doesn't give a craft what the National is doing. And they're going to do it when they want to do it.
Starting point is 00:07:45 And it made sense. And I'm sure there's a lot of people that will do both. But we had to choose one of the other. Yeah. I got a new store. We had a building team. We're doing things. And I'd love to be there.
Starting point is 00:07:58 But I'd love to be there in September. You know, a little cooled off in New York, but not two weeks before the National and a billion other things going on. Maybe we'll have to do a separate business trip up to New York. Maybe I'm going to next year. They give a little separation. Yeah. I hope that the FNAX doesn't decide to do this again because I don't think the National's date is pretty much always the end of July. So I'm hoping Fanax Fest spaces it out.
Starting point is 00:08:25 I know they're probably doing it because everybody's on summer vacation. or kids come. I know, but like, do it in June then. Maybe. I don't know. Yeah, they have some cool things going on. They have, you know, LeBron James is going to be there, Serena Williams, David Beckham, Kevin Hart, Wembe, Aaron Judge, Brunson.
Starting point is 00:08:45 I mean, the list goes on. I mean, it's a true engagement event in activation. The National is all about is a gigantic, large card show. Yeah. Like, and they've, they've had entertainment, and it's its own thing. They're very different. The Fanatics Fest was a ton of fun. It felt enough talks about it before, so I don't, but it definitely feels like a who's who place.
Starting point is 00:09:14 Card show feels like, I'm going to Card Show, baby, like gigantic. Is Fanatics Fest more expensive to go to? Yeah, the tickets are a little higher, but it's reasonable. It's very reasonable. You can get in with a family for, it's 70 to 150 to 150, like different varied levels of tickets. You can get in affordably.
Starting point is 00:09:35 Okay. So it's not. The Nashville is a little, is more affordable, but it's, but you also get more, you get access to more freebie opportunities at the fanatics fest. You're,
Starting point is 00:09:48 you know, like when you walk around at a trade show or something, but you get all the marketing things and free this and free that. So I think you get good. value and I enjoyed it. Wow, just really close, almost scored there for, uh, setting in Argentina, Argentina almost scored. Nice, nice save here. Calling it in the background. Get live commentary. Live commentary. We should have faced you the other way. So you wouldn't be distracted. I'm a old 80D anyway. Hey, there's a shiny baller there being kicked around.
Starting point is 00:10:17 Um, I think what would be fun is one year we try to get you into the fanatics game, which has 50 athlete celebrities and etc. And then 50 everyday fans. I might could play my way through that. I mean, $2 million cash for first place, a Ferrari for second or a $250,000 messy trading car. I have a professional lawn game player.
Starting point is 00:10:40 Like, you know, you know, my son did beat me in Bocci. That was hard. I hadn't lost Bacchia in like 10 years. Dang. And I got a 16-year-old Dibi.
Starting point is 00:10:48 Oh, it was tough. Blow to the ego. Blow to the ego. But Clayton did it. And man, he's got his dad to touch. I'll just say that. So somehow you still circle it back to you. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:11:00 You know, I think you still feel better as a dad, I guess. No, he's good. We had fun, though. And, but I would love some Fanax Fest gaming with me and Wimby. Yeah. I think that that would be a fair matchup. No, he's on my team. Oh, oh, whoa.
Starting point is 00:11:17 In basketball or anything where you need height. and give me him and Aaron Judge, and we'll take on in all comers. Yeah, I fear that they probably, you know, wouldn't have that happen if $2 million is on the line. Well, we did get lucky a little bit. We got in our first PSA submission order from way back, yeah, as a store, from way back in February, first week in February, something like that. I just not that bad, I guess, four months, five months. Yeah, they, as of, like, last month, they released that they have a 11 million colored backlog.
Starting point is 00:11:54 So, honestly, it's really impressive that these are even sitting in front of us that they can be organized enough. I was told me a text yesterday when we were getting back and I was like, we actually got. So, yeah, I just figured it would be like September, October. Yeah, well, I opened it on camera, which was fun and did a little unboxing to see what we got. So I'll share the stats on my handy-dandy little sticky note. Okay. Okay. Started off.
Starting point is 00:12:24 We have a Pokemon 2025, Vulcanion. Volcano. PSA 9, so this is one of our nines, $25 car. The PSA 10 probably would have been around $100. Yeah. We're going to get hate mail for those because that's exactly what Bonkers was talking about all the Pokemon that gets sent in that filled. pipeline. Yeah, but, okay, Cole, before sending all of these in, like, I mean, he, no, he does his due diligence. The percentage, he did way better than average. So if I did this,
Starting point is 00:12:59 we'd have seven, sevens and fourth eights. Um, our second Pokemon, this one, we also got a nine, and this one is about $30 as a nine, PSA 10, again, about $100, $125. So, you know, It was worth it if we got a 10. Yeah. That one, you kind of know what you're going for. Hey, you might 5, 6, 7, 8X and it worse. You get it. What this does, I want to give, it's a good point to make.
Starting point is 00:13:32 I want to make this point. So some people might go, well, it's only worth $25 so it wasn't worth sending in. I actually disagree because it actually gives you the encasing. There's a lot of fake cards in the market. so you know it's not fake. And so I still think, especially if you're a collector, this has a lot of value over and above maybe the absolute price point in the moment.
Starting point is 00:13:55 That's my take on me. Yeah, no, I think that's a fair opinion. Number three, this is our last nine that we got. LeBron James, 2024, Topps finest die cut. I think this card is just really awesome. I love that card. I pulled that card and was praying it was a 10. and I still love it because it's a cool card.
Starting point is 00:14:17 It's cool as LeBron ever pulled. Yeah, 13 out of 150. Yeah, I don't know what it was worth. What did you jot down there? It is worth $65. So, I mean, it's worth it. Yeah. Because I think it's like three.
Starting point is 00:14:29 I think it might have several hundred if it was worth. That was definitely worth it. Cole was telling me that the lower numbers it gets, it gets more dye cut. Yeah. And the colors get brighter. So I'd be curious, like what one out of, you know, 10 looks like a little. We got a heat map, we'd know why. I know.
Starting point is 00:14:46 And I can probably guarantee you. It's something to do with the die cat. But we should at the national ask MBA, Mike Baker. If that's Mike, he can tell us. I'm just curious. He'll immediately point to like some blemish that we didn't see. Yeah. I wonder actually if it's in like that.
Starting point is 00:15:01 Like he's secretly grading my hair when I'm sitting there. Like Ryan's haircuts like eight and a half today. I'm like, damn it. I get a sticker at least. All right. Now we're getting into into the tens. Oh, yeah. We have our 2024 select Damian Lillard card.
Starting point is 00:15:19 I got a good story on this card. I talked about it on one of the very, actually, very first episodes of the show. And it was a national last year that I talked about it because I'd interviewed Gio, which was a sports card nonsense. Yep. I got this card from Gio.
Starting point is 00:15:38 Really? So I was on his live feed, and we were doing some projects together at the time. and literally he's live selling, his live selling field on eBay. And this card comes up and nobody's bidding on it. And I bid on it,
Starting point is 00:15:53 I think it got it for like $8 or something. And it's, I think raw like a $30 or $40 card. Yeah. But I was like, I'm going to buy. $8. Yeah. He's like, dude, you bid, you bought the clutch.
Starting point is 00:16:04 He's like, you like, you didn't, he kind of, he wasn't mad at all. He just kind of gave me shit, you know, that I bought it. Yeah. And anyway, I got a 10. So I'm going to have this at the National to show Gio, and he's going to remember it. So, Gio, if you see this episode,
Starting point is 00:16:20 you probably got better things to do coming up to the National. If you were to see it, I'm going to bring this up to you. And you know what? I may just give it to him. I mean, good content, as long as we get the content. Yeah, that card as a PSA 10 is about $100. He will remember it because Gio's a guy that remembers things. And literally, I'm going to go, Gio, remember this guy?
Starting point is 00:16:40 I bought it for $8 from you. Hey, you over 12X, your profit. What is it word now? $100. Okay. But I think this card is really sick. It's a tie-dye. I think it has really cool.
Starting point is 00:16:55 It's like one of the best things select us. Yeah. All right. 2025, Dawn Russ Optic, Tett McMillan. This was also a 10. Auto. I mean, this is a clean. I did know that Cole had actually sent that one in.
Starting point is 00:17:09 I wouldn't have the guts to know that Nato. would actually grade out that well. I don't know if the audio I know. I'm just about the card in general and he nailed it and it's a 10. It's a beautiful card. Color match too on the size.
Starting point is 00:17:23 Maybe that's the way the design is, but it pops. Yep. That card. Blue ink two. I mean, there's little details on this card that are really nice.
Starting point is 00:17:30 Yeah. That card, PSA 10, 225 with a population of six. Wow. Yeah. Yep. That's because a lot of people like me. They're not brave enough to send this.
Starting point is 00:17:42 And that's a beautiful card. Yeah. All right. Big boy over here, 2024. Uh-huh. Yes. Caleb Williams, Phoenix, Venetian. Yeah, these came from the Phoenix Blaster.
Starting point is 00:17:58 Yeah. We, the boys and I pulled that or bought it. I can't remember. But I'll tell you this. Here's what I know. Cole and I went back and forth on this card. This is a hard one because it's a little, it's a thick card.
Starting point is 00:18:12 It's thicker than most, and we went back and forth. I think we convinced ourselves seven times that we weren't going to send it, and then the eighth time we finally said, we're going to send it. Yep. And it got a 10. Yep. And it's a beautiful card, too. It's got some subtle detail.
Starting point is 00:18:26 And I don't know if you had the pop on that or did it not? I don't have the population. What about you? But $300. Oh, that's got to be more than that. Once the season starts, $3,000. I don't sure. 3,000.
Starting point is 00:18:38 If that's really all it's worth, I'm not selling it. I'm going to keep that baby. I'm going to have it walking around at the national. And here's what I think. This card, if this card doesn't pull 500 at the national, I won't sell it. But I would be surprised if it wouldn't. I don't care what that comp says.
Starting point is 00:18:54 I just think this is a $500 card at the national. And even then, I kind of don't check. This should be $1,000. I mean, again, it might just be. Rookie Caleb Williams. I want to see the pop. Maybe the pop's higher than I think. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:19:05 Yeah, I'm not sure. We let's look at the pop. But that's a beautiful card. I remember the boys when we got it. I just can't remember if we opened it. We bought it from a guy that opened like a box with us. It's been long. We opened a lot of cards.
Starting point is 00:19:18 But I think that one's cool. I mean, I've opened some of the Phoenix packs and gotten literally nothing. So it's a pretty cool card. And our last one, our most expensive one, as of what I comped, we have a 2023 Pokemon SVP Umbrian, and this one is 375. And we've actually already sold it. We have? Yep.
Starting point is 00:19:42 Yeah, Rich, if you're listening, Rich claimed the card. We do buy them to sell them. So, you know, we got to sell some of them or, you know, we won't stay open very long. Yeah, yeah. So I think this one's really cool. It is cool. And this is my first time ever getting back a PSA submission. So it was fun.
Starting point is 00:20:01 It was like, you know, Christmas Day. Exactly. We got another bigger one coming too. I hope we should. Yeah, and that one has like 25 cards in it. Yeah, I've got some customer cards in that one too. Yeah. Hopefully they did it just as well.
Starting point is 00:20:12 it's fun. Yay. It is kind of like Christmas Day opening. And they come back from PSA. It's like, hmm, it is so funny how it determines the value. Well, so I posted a video of me unboxing it.
Starting point is 00:20:27 And like one of the comments was like, because I, not that I was disappointed when I got the first nine, but like, you know, there's a little set of disappointment. And the comment was like, it's crazy that like a mint condition card causes disappointment.
Starting point is 00:20:40 And it's like, well, when the card, is valued at $25 when it's a nine and $125 when it's a $10. Yeah. That's a big difference. I still think there's a spoof video out there for grading different things. Like everything got graded.
Starting point is 00:21:00 Yeah. You know, like in your life, everything you go to. Like you go to the grocery store, the checkout lady gets graded. Yeah. And I'm not about, I'm not about, wait your day on a PSA scale. Exactly. What else is cooking? Well, Wembe.
Starting point is 00:21:13 Oh, thank God he got paid. I was really worried. He signed a five-year, $252 million contract. And believe it or not, this was a 25% discount, $50 million under because he wants to... How's he going to pay for anything?
Starting point is 00:21:34 I don't know. But he wants to help the spurs build. So given a... It's sparked. But, you know, I don't know he's going to hurt not getting that extra 50-0. He'll make it up in the endorsements. At least. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:48 At least. Yeah. So I don't think he's too but-heard about it. But glad he'll be with the Spurs for another five years. And I think that we'll only see him get better. I do agree that it helps potential long-term value of his cards because it'll be tight. His value will be tied to performance. We'll be tied to championships.
Starting point is 00:22:07 Yeah. So got people around them. then he gave it a better shot at his long-term card value. And, you know, I don't think he was necessarily thinking about his card value in his ultimate decision making. He's worried about his legacy and, you know, what, it's 22? Oh, yeah, he's got, he's good. He could be okay for a few years of that 250.
Starting point is 00:22:30 Yeah. Have you been keeping track of any of the Summer League stuff? You know, the World Cup, if the sports been on, it's been that. It's seemingly at our house with the kids. And that's not as much as probably most people even. But it's, I've caught the headlines, AJ, not surprising. Yeah, 27 points in his Vegas debut. Yep.
Starting point is 00:22:50 Pretty awesome. He's had, but then so did Darren Patterson. Yeah. So Darren Patterson had like 36 or some 30 plus in his debut. So not surprising. They're both going to be really good. And, you know, it's the Summer League. So it's temporary expectations.
Starting point is 00:23:08 I mean, they're still playing against really good players, but it's not the NBA. Yeah. It's, I'd call the NBA light. Light. We've had a, so for listeners, I went to Furman University, and we've had a couple, a couple basketball players make it summer week. Yeah. That's far as I got. They've played a couple points in the NBA, but nothing.
Starting point is 00:23:30 Oh, F you. Nothing much fast that. We also did have a pretty exciting poll. in, well, it was bought in store. Yeah, I guess. They opened in the parking lot. I don't know. No, the customer, so we didn't have any top loaders for them to buy. We had run out of top loaders. And so Cole was like, they were opening
Starting point is 00:23:57 a tops chrome black. He was like, I don't want you to be in store and get something and not have a top loader. So the guy goes home, opens it, gets a Travis Hunter, $3,000 card. 101. 101. Yeah. Crazy.
Starting point is 00:24:14 Out of tops car on black. I guess it was super refractor. Yeah. Had it been. So it's. And then he came back like 20 minutes later. And he actually, ironically,
Starting point is 00:24:22 didn't even have a top loader that fit it because it was like a little bit thicker. Um, and so it, yeah. I think we had big top loaders here. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:30 So we were able to get a picture of it and it was a fun story. But I mean, yeah, $3,000 card. Yeah. Can't beat that. Exactly. That might be. for sale.
Starting point is 00:24:41 I could sign in. Who knows if someone's a big Travis Hunter fan? My kids love Jaguard. I love the Jaguars, but not a big one-on-one guy buying them. It's hard to get a comp on.
Starting point is 00:24:52 And I mean, like them going on, Trevor, Josh Allen, yeah, it's the right number. But it's really a card you buy when you want to collect it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:01 Or if it's just somebody that's no-to-dying all-time great, yeah, buying a freaking Brady 101. Sure. But like if it was the right number, it could go up. Yeah. It's speculative of all these guys are still rookies. Second year.
Starting point is 00:25:19 Hadn't played out yet. He was injured at the beginning last year. And look, he's a freak. He could be an all-time great. And I would bet more likely that he will, but it's tough buying one-on-ones. So I did open some cards with the boys over the weekend. We didn't film the opening, which is, you know, Cardinal Sin. But, you know, we're on vacation. I didn't want to get the cameras out. I'll give you a pass this time, but every other time. And of course, we hit, you know, all kinds of stuff. So, Ryan at 10.30 last night, sends me 15 pictures of these cards. And I'm like, there's just simply no way that you ripped all of these in four days.
Starting point is 00:25:53 Yeah. Well, it was only one night, actually. We only opened one. We were like five hobby boxes. I think, like, some card, like, fairy has, like, blessed you with pixie dust. Maybe. It's, it's, look, it goes. waves. You'll open 10 things and get absolutely cooked. And then you open 10, you think you're the luckiest person alive, and it goes back and forth. And you never know, I've definitely been on a heater
Starting point is 00:26:19 more than not lately. I'll just say that. Maybe it's just like I haven't opened enough. You haven't opened enough. You got to open like thousands of $500 boxes to live the pain and the glory, you know? Because everybody in the shop thinks that I have a golden touch. And let me tell you, I've opened way more than gotten absolutely cooked. Yeah, the dollar bids are proof of that. Ryan has single-handedly stocked these dollar bins. This is true. And I have more stocking.
Starting point is 00:26:47 So if you're listening and you're in the area, come by the store, they're going to be restocked even today because I've got a bunch in the box. We got at least $10 hours. I will say I didn't get any dollar cards. It was like a lot of $5 and $10 cards. I'm truly hot right now.
Starting point is 00:27:00 I'm going to say, even with the crappy cards. But let me just tell you, Two months ago, it was the exact opposite, and I'm ready for the decline in any moment. I know how it goes. These are in descending. Yes.
Starting point is 00:27:14 I do want to say, I'll start with, I mean, let's start. We'll go big first. This was out of Cactus Jack, NBA. Fun rip, let me just say, go ahead and tell you. This is like playing the lotto 101 here. This is truly the scratch card of boxes. You have a high ceiling and a low floor. You can get $5 worth of cards,
Starting point is 00:27:34 or you can get $50,000 worth of the cards. Luckily, we were somewhere in the middle. Yeah. Was it a, do you say a hobby box? Hobby box, cactus jack, basketball, to buy tops. Fun rip. I'll say this. They're cool looking cards.
Starting point is 00:27:47 I do have a mission. I won't say this is going to be definitive. But I don't open as many as we used to. Like, it might seem like we open a ton, but it's usually one night a week. With all the boys I have, could be every night. So one night a week.
Starting point is 00:28:06 I think I'm done with retail. I think it's a whole hobby. Because we don't open enough. I think we're spoiled. I think we'd rather take the risk and get cooked than to open 10 boxes and get your best cards like, you know, an out of $2.99,
Starting point is 00:28:22 uh, Buddha baker. I, you know, like, no offense, but it's like, you know,
Starting point is 00:28:28 I think we're, we kind of, we just want, I think we'd rather have it for the fun. And we, It's more exciting. And the hits are better. And everybody knows this, but I just think, I don't know, I think I'm over the, and it's not because I'm too good for it. It's more that I just don't open that much.
Starting point is 00:28:43 Yeah. And so when I do open, I kind of want the ceiling to be there. Yeah. And so this Cooper flag reached the ceiling or at least somewhere in the middle. At a 99, Cooper flag, we'll do a better version of that on screen. But if you're watching, you need to be listening. If you're listening, you should be watching. Don't forget to like, follow, and subscribe on their YouTube channel.
Starting point is 00:29:03 Tell your friends. That's how this works. So if you enjoy the show, tell somebody. So Cooper Flag, on the parallel, green. For lack of a better word, someone's going to DM you with the exact name. But it's 30 something out of 99, 78. I can't read it. 55 out of 99.
Starting point is 00:29:23 That was brutal. Someone needs to go get their eyes checked together. They're bad. I mean, in all fairness, I don't think that they could have made the contrast on this card any darker. No. If they tried. They couldn't. So I can't fully blame you.
Starting point is 00:29:38 And I also don't really think that they could have chosen a more unflattering picture of him. But I digress. Yeah. There's some worse ones of him. That is my biggest pet peeve. Like, if I had trading cards, I would have to approve every single photo. Well, that's not going to happen. Yeah, I know.
Starting point is 00:29:57 Because I would be, I'd be like brides a woman for cards. Yeah, exactly. It's like, guys are just like, all right, I'm there. It would work. I get paid for it. You didn't say how much this one was. Yeah, it's about 700. Yeah. There were signs that it could be slightly less and a lot of signs that it could be significantly more.
Starting point is 00:30:16 So we settled there. I would say the comfortable range is 500 to 1,200. Okay. Quite a range. 500 to somebody who doesn't care and 1,200 to somebody who's a good flag fan. Long term, it's a big card. I think the set being the Travis Scott, Cax Jack Brand with him and his rookie season. Are you going to be trying to flip that one?
Starting point is 00:30:42 That one will be for sale on the higher end. Yeah. Come make me an unfair. I'll make you an unfair offer. I just want to get my unfair share. I'm kidding. We'll go on latest comp plus 30%. Plus 30%.
Starting point is 00:31:00 I'm just kidding. Sort of. I just like that card. Most cards, I wouldn't be like that. That's a cool card. The other one, if you're a Falcons fan, this is for you. Three of the all-time leading receivers for the Falcons, triple auto.
Starting point is 00:31:15 I didn't pull too many triple autos. And this was, Hogan pulled this one. I pulled that one. So I need to clarify, this was, you know, the Alford clan opened some version of these. I'll give credit where I remember. Where I don't all lean me. I just like to make myself feel better and maybe it rubs off on the next box.
Starting point is 00:31:36 We all know we get cooked. I get cooked. You get cooked. But Howie Box is better, better odds for not getting cooked. Well, you at least lose the cost of the box maybe, but not getting disappointed where you just get completely crushed. So you get a number, like a low numbered card. But this is a fun rip.
Starting point is 00:31:57 So this was out of Panini's last price. products, silhouette football. If you can get any silhouette hobby boxes, that's a fun rip for the price. We had them here at collector station. I think we still got some. Yeah, I liked those ones. And Triple Auto, Julio Jones, Roddy White, and Andre Ryzen, 7 out of 10. And out of 10, Triple Auto.
Starting point is 00:32:18 You don't get those every day. No. That's that. They're all sticker. We guessed it made it around 300 to 500. We settled around 400. It was a guesstimate. This got pulled last night.
Starting point is 00:32:28 I actually had a retail box. I was just bumping, knocking on a retail box. Ibuka, case hit acetate. Yes. This is out of signature football. We opened quite a bit of it. It was a blaster box. And it's the acetate is the name of that one.
Starting point is 00:32:45 It's see-through. What a weird name. Don't ever call me an acetate. The acetate class something. Can't remember the name. It has a name. Class. I know it's signature class,
Starting point is 00:32:59 but I feel like this ascertained was a super class too. I'll think of it by the time we finish. Anyway, case hit or an SSP of some sort of SP. I got so many acronyms now. Short print, super short print. I just think it's cool. I really like the kind of like clear see-through ones. And I mean, this one kind of gives like oil spill vibes.
Starting point is 00:33:20 I just, I think this one's my favorite one that you hold recently. Right there in Tampa Bay, oil spills. the best name in football maybe, Jay Sayin. Yep, yep. Julian saying from Ohio State, the Ohio State, by the way. 10 out of 15, yes, 10 out of 15, that's a jersey match. Out of silhouette, the same product. So Jay saying, Julian's saying, that's a good looking card.
Starting point is 00:33:52 Get the silhouette in the background. Yeah, no, I like that. He's one of the, I would say top two, him and Manning coming in the next season. Yeah. Projected. Good Heism candidate. This could be a gigantic card. I guess it's around $100-ish.
Starting point is 00:34:08 Think for the right Ohio State fan, maybe a thousand. Yeah, 10x. We're going to give you that Buckeye tax. I mean, if he goes within the first five or ten, yeah. If he were like a top five draft pick and, you know, one of the highestman or had just a big year, that's a lot of upside there. Yeah. I don't think it actually has that much downside.
Starting point is 00:34:28 No. Because the Ohio State quarterback and it's a number match. Yeah. I feel like that's going to always be a $50 card. Yeah. But it could be $500 to $1,500 or more depending. In Ohio State, it has a killer a year this year. Are you going to keep that one or?
Starting point is 00:34:42 That was for sale. Any Ohio State player is likely for sale. Not because I just like about Ohio State. I just don't have no fandom there whatsoever. Actually, you know, they're kind of like one of the blue bloods of college football. It's fun to watch them because they're always typically good. Clemsons had more luck than not luck against them. But it's been a few years.
Starting point is 00:35:05 I think they had the best of us last time we played. But this was out of signature football as well. This is a case hit. First class, kind of like the ticket. The ticket. I think those were cool. Justin Jefferson. That was out of a blaster, too.
Starting point is 00:35:21 I've been knocking retail and I pulled those two out of. But still, that's like the first two. hit out of blasters and I can remember. And then Topps Chrome Black football. He did open a hobby box of that. Fun rip. 25 out of 25 got the book in. Jalen Milrow,
Starting point is 00:35:36 I don't think his market's been set yet. And I think guessing around 100-ish is the guess. But we'll see. This is a nice one. So Ashton Gentie, you may have heard of, Best Running Back, last year's draft, had a decent season. 14 out of 14.
Starting point is 00:35:58 I don't know what made them choose 14. I know. 14 out of 14 auto, Ashton Genty. Very cool looking parallel there. Yeah, and that one's going for about 300? Yeah,
Starting point is 00:36:10 that's our guesstimate. But we'll accept offers. This one will definitely be for sale of the national. So are you going to have the boys try to negotiate these? Yeah, definitely. They get more than me. I get perceived as a, you know,
Starting point is 00:36:23 Scromy white. dude that's doing deals like the grimy dealer maybe. Not really. I don't think I come off in this way, but I do, I'm not a kid. Yeah. You know, they can play both ways. They can try to think they're going to get the deal in over the kids or, and most of them aren't that way anymore.
Starting point is 00:36:42 Everybody knows what the values are. But, I mean, also, you've raised your sons. They can handle themselves. I think they could handle themselves way better than I could handle myself trying to do. Well, they know the cards and they know the values. So they're not going to get pushed over. And, you know, we'll give them some boundaries. We'll see.
Starting point is 00:36:58 We might do a little video of who can get the best value of the best trade out of something. So I've only seen his baseball cards. I haven't seen any of his football cards. But we got a big box of, like, shoebox full of vintage cards. And I saw my first Bo Jackson football card today. So. That's a cool card. All of his card.
Starting point is 00:37:20 I mean, one of the greatest athletes of all time. All-Star in baseball. All pro in football. Don't think it's ever been done. I think he's the only player ever. And to be, there's had crossovers, but not to be all pro in both. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:35 Those sports is ridiculous. I don't even think people recognize. It's kind of like, you don't recognize how good show hay is, pitching and hitting at the level that he does, like on another planet entirely. But Bo Jackson is the greatest athlete of all time. Speaking of Otani,
Starting point is 00:37:55 he, one of his cards just went for three, $3.365 million, a 2018 Bowman Chrome Superfactor, one of one, Beckett, 9.5. Wow. Yeah. That's crazy. Crazy. And before I forget it, though, before I want to comment on that,
Starting point is 00:38:15 I do want, hey, leave a comment. Let us know you saw this segment. Tell us what you think. What do you want to see more of? Like, follow, subscribe. Kind of do better about that. I'm going to give away. Toppschrome black.
Starting point is 00:38:30 I've got a Drake May base card. I think it's like $20 or $25. Not nothing to scoff at. Or a base card? Yeah, base card. It might be less than that. I don't know. But if you're a Drake May fan, it's cool.
Starting point is 00:38:41 It's out of the new tops chrome black. So don't quote me on that value. It could be anywhere. I'm guessing 10 to 25. They always start high and go low with new sets. So we'll see. Either way, Drake May, second year. Here's where we get interesting.
Starting point is 00:38:54 So, and I think Brian, Brian would approve of this. I did have two of these Ken Green Griffey Jr. cards from the storage unit. And so one of these 90s inserts, this is approaching $100, and it is a Ken Griffey Jr. We're going to put these in. We'll see how many people we get. Yep. We'll put them in a pot.
Starting point is 00:39:15 We'll draw. And this is a tops insert. What year was this? Is it 92 or 93? And for context, if you're new here, Brian Luddins, he, of LettX normally joins us, and he has a huge storage unit that he bought off a woman whose husband had sadly passed, and she didn't know what to do with the collection. So they paid a pretty penny and got his whole collection, and Ryan got to go look through it. Yeah, and he may
Starting point is 00:39:46 let me have a couple of cards. So we'll spread the love around. I have a second one. That's a cool card. If you're older, you'll appreciate that. If you're younger, you should. But hey, last or not least. Okay, that Cactus Jack product, the base cards are pretty high. These are, all right, from 30 to 50, 30 to 60, depending on what you look at. Maybe coming down, so again, don't quote me, they're free. We're giving them away. I've got a Wimby and a Cooper flag. So out of that tops, uh, Cactus Jack basketball, we'll put those four in. And we'll throw in, uh, some, some extra cards from our value bins. Exactly. Even further sweeten the pot. Maybe more. One of our, one each of our tops now.
Starting point is 00:40:28 You never know. So we want to hear from you. We want to incentivize you. And we want to make the show better. I actually, so a couple weeks ago when we had told people to DM you on it. Yeah. One of the people DM'd our card shop account. And so I was messaging back with them.
Starting point is 00:40:48 And he was like, I've been listening to your show from the very beginning. Love it. And it really warmed my heart. It made me happy. be that, you know, you know people are listening. Exactly. It's, you know, with radio, talk radio, you have called people to call in. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:02 You see people in your local market. Podcasting is a weird thing because, like, even my business show, which is popular, you know, you don't know. You get comments here and there, but a lot of people just listen. They're enjoying it, but you don't have dialogue or have any real feedback loops. So it's fun when you get that feedback. So if you DM the car shop store, I will, I manage the Instagram, the, the, TikTok, so I will answer you, and it will make me really happy. And we'll start doing more giveaways.
Starting point is 00:41:31 This is popular and it gets people engaged and wanting to drop. You know, we know we've got to, hey, look, time is money. And so we want your feedback. And for yours, for share of your time and listening and giving us feedback and going and being really nice about everything. Yep. We'll give you cards. No, be honest. Like, what can we do more or less of?
Starting point is 00:41:54 I know you'll probably enjoy. more openings and seeing different things. But there's probably some other things. And we've been changing the format with new app coming out. Got some things up our sleeves. Oh, speaking of new app, final thought before we head out here. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:10 If you are a hobby content creator in any, whether it's TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, whatnot, we are launching the collector nation app. That is going to be the one-stop shop, for all things hobby. So, you know, you can go on TikTok and there's a million different things that people could be interested in. But this is going to be the one-stop place for all things hobby. So you'll get more eyes on your content, non-exclusive, and you don't have to do any extra work because we can pull all the content from where you're already posting. So it's actually
Starting point is 00:42:47 just another way to get your name out there. So if you're interested in your creator in the hobby, DM us, either DM the store page, collector station, or... We'll drop a link too. We'll have a link to where you can sign up for that. The link will be in the description. But we really hope that more creators join and there will be monetization happening in the future.
Starting point is 00:43:07 Yep. Yeah, that will be on. You know, we'll have it on day one. We just, you know, again, we've got to grow this thing. You've got to have eyeballs. And ultimately, you don't lose anything. If you've got sponsorships, it's no different.
Starting point is 00:43:20 Think of us as another version of TikTok or YouTube, but it's the collector version. Yep. And if you're going to be at the National, come say hi to us. We can talk to you about it. Or, you know, just chat and grab a beer. Exactly. And maybe some freebies. We'll be handing out a few different things. And you never know. I'll have a mom bag shoved with, you know, all the giveaways. I'm going to have a lot of cars to hand out. So just come say hi. And for sure, sign up for that. Again, no competition with other platforms, no, you know, conflicts. This is just somewhere to get seen and heard and aggregating some of the best voices, best news.
Starting point is 00:44:00 We've got other things that even Bella doesn't know about coming for the app yet. I believe it. You're always cooking up something. So, yes. But collector nation app, not live yet if you are in the market for downloading me. Yeah, but it will be within the next two weeks probably. Yeah, it's soon. Coming soon right at the national. We appreciate everyone.
