And if you go look at the lyrics, people are attributing some of these to, okay, okay. I think they think these lyrics are dissing gunna. These fuck niggas telling for nothing. So these fucknigs tell him for nothing, and I've got to be the one calling him friend. For whatever reason, people attributed these two, these lyrics to Gunner. These fucknig is telling him for nothing, and I've got to be the one calling him friend. According to the annotations over here, there's things possibly referring to Gunner or his own brother. Now, he's definitely not, he's not dissing his brother, clearly, who both took plea deals.

Gunners maintained he has not snitched. I mean, which snitch has maintained they did snitch. and it's also should be known that the condition of thugs plea deal state that he wished to maintain contact with Gunna and his brother. So, you know, if he's talking about either one, his own words towards the judge was that he could speak or communicate with these people, right? Hmm. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know. or like mysterious shit works for everybody I think it only works the one person right now which is Cardi it's feel big you know my album is Y Y-Scoady I feel like I'm one of the biggest stars I did a lot, founding this culture, and, you know, like the new rap game that's, you know, that's happening right now. So it didn't feel inhibited in any way on the new record. Didn't change the way. Nah. I normally like rap about cool things, you know. I do have a theory about the mask, too, though. You know, and again, see if you rock with my analogies or my comparisons. But I, but, like, jail really takes a toll on all of these guys. It takes a toll on everybody.

And to be incarcerated for three years and just thrust it in front of a camera, like a lot of times you're not the healthiest or whatever. I mean, you know, look very extreme example, but Vibs Cartel for 13 years. He came out, a nigga looked like he had a frog head. Found out he had Graves disease. I think Thug is still acclimating to societies.

I don't know if he had health problems or whatever, but we did see him gain some weight while he was locked up. even his face start looking a little bit different while being in court. And really was just, you know, it's a very different lifestyle. So I think once he gets back to the regular shit, I don't think he's going to be wearing a mask this whole time. I think this is probably just to be a little bit edgy. Try to keep a little bit of mystery because he hasn't really said much since his incarceration.

And probably the fact that he was locked up and who knows, he might have a skin condition or something like that. Like what I've learned in this industry is like sometimes we overthink it. It was real.

Yeah. Don't want to deal with it again. But definitely it was real. Were there moments if you wondered if you would ever ever. it out? Yeah, for sure. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Do you think about, are you thinking about yourself, your family, your career, like where does the mind go? Family, kids, just, you know, career was, like, last. I was, like, relevant. Really? Because you, like, I mentioned this before, but, like, you went in at the kind of at the height, the pinnacle. I could see wondering, like,

Oh, am I going to get that back? I'm pretty sure we'll get it back. Yeah, jail doesn't really hurt people like that. I'm going to be honest with you. Like, I'm going to use Young Boy for that example. I think Young Boy, or points went up by going to jail. I think people are more anticipating his music. I think people are appreciating him more.

Like, you know, again, he's always a huge star. But I think right now him just getting out, they haven't been, you know, sometimes young boy overexposes himself, you know, I don't think by his own doing, but he does so much and he gives so much to his audience, they take it for granted. And it's not until they have a legit, valid reason why they can't get any piece or part of him, pause, that they start appreciating him a lot more. For example, now.

So, Young Thug, no matter what, Young Thung is a legend. Whenever he had gotten out, people were going to be intrigued to hear his conversations about, you do you so what fuck with Gunna, what was your experience in there? You know what I mean? So, yeah, I think his career, no matter, even if he was locked up for four or five years. I don't think that's for everybody, though. But thugs a legend. It just is what it is.

Because as an outsider was crazy to watch. Oh, my God. Yeah. This guy is, like, at the top of the craft. And now he can't do this thing that he does. It happens like that sometimes. Does it happen like that? I say sometimes.

Sometimes. Sometimes. I think it would be human to feel in that situation, like, a great influence. justice is being done to me. Did you ever feel that way? Absolutely. Every day. Really? Every day. Yeah. And it's a man. It ended up being the longest criminal trial in Georgia history, I think. Yes. Something so crazy that never had happened before happened and you were at the center of it. Did it feel personal? Yeah, of course. Yeah. Hopefully personal. Yeah. But she made it back. Is that a crazy feeling to be like, I'm this big and I'm all.

So in the cell? Yeah. I think I'm too big for jail, but I think like I'm not too big for God. Yeah. So like God could put the biggest person in. I feel like I'm taller than the jail, but somehow he could just like squish me in there. I think it was like God, a God thing. Just showing me like, you know, situations, real friends and who you with, who with you

and how to move and how to be because you are you at schooling. Tough to feel bigger than the jail when you're in the jail. Yeah. It's just like how I was treated, how the officer's street. It's just like, damn, I don't got no bitch here. Like, the fucking officers are working in jail, the fans. They were? They're working.

They're 20 years old. It's like, man, you're a kid. And they're telling me what to do. Telling you what to do. Yeah. Which is not a bad thing. My kids tell them what to do. My girl, everybody tells them what to do.

But, like, they actually just sit, like, why I'm on punishment. And you guys are my parents. You guys are my parents except you're going to go home and listen to the record, maybe. Yeah, you're, like, parenting me and telling me, like, you the fucking one, bro, Like, what you say on this? Like, what? It's just, like, so crazy. That must be a very insane feeling.

Yes. I think God put me in there for a reason, and I think, I know. Yeah, what's the reason? I think, I don't know. I think, like, because I always felt like I was a good guy. So I was like, why do I got to go to jail for you to, like, show me something? Why you just can't tell? I guess I was just hard.

And I think. You know, and I'm sorry if I had vibes cartel tell you guys to death. But, you know, Vibes Cartel answered that same question by, you know, asking him there was a lot of regret. he admitted that his career was affected by going to jail or prison actually for 13 years. But you know what he said? He felt that it was a divine intention or order by God. He felt that most likely the path he was going on, he probably would have died. You know?

I'm wondering if Thug has those thoughts. Clearly, he's not going to say it here. But, I mean, if Thug was moving around like he was a fucking mob boss getting people potentially knocked off this and third, no man's untouchable. Like you never know when somebody could have tried to do something to him. I wonder if he processes like that or he just looks at it on the surface to be like, yo, I'm bigger than jail. Because that's like, I don't know if that's rapper arrogance or 2020 hindsight that now you got out

and you had a favorable judge who fucks with you, maybe you really think you were really bigger than that whole process and you're pompous about it. I don't think that would be his demeanor. I don't think so. We'll find out. For you to like show me something. I guess I was just hard-headed. And I think I love people so much to the point where

the only thing that'll make me not love you anymore or just like dislike you is like betrayal. Like real like betrayal when life is depending on it. Is that something you felt like what's happening? Betrayal having every day. Yeah. Absolutely. Yeah.

It was two and a half years. It was crazy. Yeah, it was crazy. Yeah. Going from this to like a jail cell, it's nuts. I can't imagine. I can't imagine. And then back to this.

Made it out. Yeah, yeah. You may be constrained in what you can say and not say, but you ultimately did decide to plead guilty to six counts. Is that a difficult decision? Absolutely. Just pleading gets to something you know that you didn't do or you're not, that's not yours. It's crazy.

But you get a chance to keep fighting and then worry about the jurors' fate or you just go ahead now. Go home. It's like, shit, go home. Still feels like the right decision now? Yeah. Are you, like, domestic? Are you in the house? Yeah, for the most part. My girl, she'd be...

Is that something you thought about? Yeah. I've told my manager, I told G off like things like I just want to make music where you can actually hear me. Because I always talk shit, I always talk that shit, but like sometimes you can't hear it.

Sometimes you're like, what are you saying? You know? So it's like now like I feel like I'm new. I feel like I'm a new artist. I feel like I just came in a rap game again. Another thing I noticed about the record is, and And I mentioned the song of Rye the Scientists earlier, but it's a very confessional record. It's like you talk about your mom.

You talk about your feelings about being in the news. Talk about crying on like more than one song. It's like very raw. Did you set out to do that? Or did that just what happened when you kind of wanted to make it? It's always natural. It's always just like natural. Like, however you feel it.

Some days I might just feel happy and I just make like lit. songs. Some days I just be like not so happy. It's funny that you say that because there was like a part of me that walked away and I was like this is kind of a record about being rich and sad, but maybe that's just my takeaway and I'm not right. Sharp, who adamantly denies the allegations, called them false and disruptive in a social media statement, released just as disturbing audio clips began making the rounds online. I'm going to break down what this move signals for his legal battle ahead

and what celebrities are saying as the story continues to unfold. Welcome to Sidebar, presented by Law and Crime. I'm Jesse Weber. Shannon Sharp, the Hall-Fame tight end. ESPN's first take analyst announced he is stepping away from the network temporarily after a Nevada woman filed a $50 million lawsuit, accusing him of rape and sexual assault. Sharp announced his decision to step away in a social media statement where he called the allegations false and disruptive,

insisted that their relationship was, quote, 100% consensual. ESPN backed this decision, though, to take a break calling the situation, quote, serious. Now, Sharp statement that was posted on his Instagram account on April 24th reads in full, quote, my statement is found here and this is the truth. The relationship in question was 100% consensual. At this juncture, I am electing to step aside temporarily from, my ESPN duties. I will be devoting this time to my family and responding and dealing with false and disruptive allegations against me. I plan to return to ESPN at the start of the NFL preseason.

I sincerely appreciate the overwhelming and ongoing support I have received from my family, friends, and colleagues. And following CHARP's departure, as I mentioned, ESPN released its own statement supporting that decision, a spokesperson for the sports conglomerate wrote, this is a serious situation, and we agree with Shannon's decision to step away. This move comes on the very same day that the NFL draft kicked off and in the midst of the highly anticipated return of the 2025 preseason. But the controversy has already cast a shadow over his career. And, by the way, a rumored reported $100 million podcast deal, which we're going to talk about as well. Amidst all these claims, there have been some high-profile names who have come out to express their thoughts on the allegations.

And we're going to get into what was said and who said what? because some of these responses may even surprise you. But in case you haven't been following this, you need a little refresher here. This is an incredibly tumultuous legal battle that Sharp is now wrapped up in. You have this woman who were choosing not to name, by the way, even though it appears Shannon Sharp and his legal team identified who she was. But you have this woman who has brought forth a lawsuit against the analyst alleging that she was in a relationship with him that began consensually back in 2023, but then turned very ugly. And that lawsuit that was filed on April 20th alleges that Sharp Rape this woman twice in October of 2024 and once in January of 2025. Key claims include, and I want you to brace yourself here because these are very disturbing allegations,

that Sharp raped her while she sobbed and ignored her pleas to stop, that he recorded her without her consent and shared videos with others, and that he even threatened her. There was an audio clip that was released by this woman's attorney, and if you've been watching a lot of sidebar, you'll recognize the name, Tony Buzz, be capturing the voice of a woman whom attorneys identify as the woman suing Shannon Sharp, telling him not to manipulate her, where a man's voice, resembling Sharp's, can be heard saying, if you say that word one more time, I'm going to bleep and choke the bleep out of you when I see you. And the woman, allegedly the plaintiff in this case, then can be heard saying she doesn't want that,

while the voice resembling Sharp responds, yes, you do. I don't think you have a choice in the matter. And this is all important because Sharpe's team is not only denying the allegations, but they're firing back, calling this whole thing a shakedown, arguing that anything that did happen was entirely consensual. In fact, here's part of Sharpe's response that he posted to his Instagram page with a pretty serious promise to fight back in court. This is a shakedown. That video should actually be 10 minutes or so. Hey, Tony, instead of releasing your edit, put the whole video out. I don't have it or I would myself. You know what happened and you're trying to. to manipulate the media. The encountering question took place during the day at her invitation. And now that appears to be a deliberate setup. What they're getting is sued for defamation in trying to take me down. My career is all about real talk and honesty.

decision both for him and the network? And how could it be that he actually returns? I think the best thing to do for Shannon was to step away. I think this is a time for him and his team to reflect. I think it's unfortunate that it had to have. happen on an NFL draft day. That happens to be one of the, you know, one of the major subjects that he talks about on the SPN. So I definitely think he has the ability to come back, but I think one of the problems was stepping away voluntarily as opposed to being sort of forced out is that it does

in some sense jeopardize the contract negotiations. It sort of, I think it sort of puts a halt on a lot of things that he could be doing. But I think that also sort of highlights the seriousness of the allegations. Do you think it also matters that this is a Disney-owned property? What, they own 80% of it? Do you think that matters? I think so. I think, you know, Disney is still recognized as a family brand. Even though I don't know if the average, you know, sort of person would connect Disney with ESPN. I mean, business folks, of course, I don't think the average sort of child or maybe parent would recognize that. But that being said, it does matter. Disney is still sort of known as a family company and this is one of their products. I think another thing to think about is,

you know, there was talk for quite some time about spinning off ESPN and this might, this might, you know, sort of engage those discussions again as well. Well, here's the thing, again, if he had consensual sex with her, kinky, whatever, it's not against the law. It's totally fine. But for someone to have a career as a public face of, you know, a sports company, like this, right? How, and you look at the audio tape that was released or text messages or whatever might else be released during the course of this. How could ESPN take him back? It seems like it's
