Their obligation to the culture and how they've put in the work, periodically or at times or in the past, has gone beyond just dropping music.

The sergeant then secures the prisoner upright to a post and places a hood over his head. A medical officer places a white target over the prisoner's heart. The guards and supporting personnel then move clear. The officer controls the firing party using prescribed signals and commands,

and the riflemen fire together on the command of fire. The medical officer then examines the prisoner. The manual also provides for what happens if the volley isn't fatal. An additional shot by a pistol administered by the sergeant to the head or under exceptional circumstances, a reserve firing detail will fire another volley.
