15 waiver wire ads that could decide your championship.
Up next on Fantasy Baseball today in five.
Welcome into FBT and 5 on Saturday, September 16th.
I am Frank Sample, joined by Scott White.
And what we'll do here is throw these at you in groups of five, Scott.
And the first group includes Nolan Jones, Mitch Garver, Ryan Pepio, Seth Lugo, and Jorge Polanco.
Yes, yes.
So Jones, I think, is just way too available, way too good.
The last week for the Rockies, nothing but home games.
So that'll help him and all their hitters, frankly.
Mitch Garver, kind of the same thing for Jones.
Like, I think Garver provided his, you know, Bruce Foot doesn't keep him out of the lineup.
He's just, like he's worth starting over guys like J.T. Rium Buto and Sean Murphy.
He's been playing so much and has been so productive for the Rangers.
I think he's basically a must right now.
Ryan Pepio has been great since joining the Dodgers, Rich.
The control has been much improved this year.
His matchups, the second to last week of the season,
if that's your championship game.
Tigers and Giants, so two really favorable ones.
But even the final week of the season, he gets the Giants again.
Another good matchup I think he'll be worth using.
In both those weeks, Seth Lugo, just has the Rockies next week,
but at home, so that's a good matchup.
And then the final week, two starts after San Francisco at the White Sox.
Seth Lugo has been a pretty reliable pitcher, so I like him a lot.
the twins might have the most favorable hitter schedule of any team down the stretch,
but there could be a lot of lefties,
so that eliminates guys like Edward Julian, Matt Walner,
doesn't eliminate Jorge Polanco, who hasn't gotten enough love, I think.
All right, the next group of five include Zach Gelloff, Davis Schneider,
and that beautiful mustache.
Edward Cabrera, Reed Detmer's, and Chris Bryant.
Yeah, so with Bryant, I mean, same thing as Nolan Jones.
You're especially looking to take advantage of that.
final week of the season where the Rockies have seven home games.
Bryant, you know, we still think he could do a lot of damage as a Rockies hitter at
Coors Field if he could stay healthy.
He's healthy right now.
He's good since coming back from the IL.
Zach Gelloff and Davis Schneider, I think they're just undervalued and too dangerous to leave
out there.
You wouldn't want your opponent to pick them up and have a huge week against you.
Schneider in particular, if he picks up outfield eligibility to go with second and third,
could be a nice substitute for you, even if you can't fit them in your lineup right away.
Edward Cabrera, a very boomer bust play here,
because at times there are a lot of walks,
but he has tons of strikeout potential too.
Next week, he gets the Mets and the Brewers,
and then the final week he gets the Pirates.
So either way, favorable matchups.
I understand the reluctance to use him yourself,
but I think Edward Cabrero is worth picking up,
if only as a defensive play,
to keep him from being the reason, you know,
just in case he has one of those amazing starts,
and that's the reason he brings you down because your opponent used him against you.
Reed Demmer's two-star week coming up, and then he gets Oakland to the final week of the season.
Hey, that sounds pretty good to me.
Last group of five for all the marbles.
Brian, woo, Logan T. Allen, Jake Berger, Michael King, and Javier Assad.
So the first 10 we already highlighted, I think, are worth picking up regardless of your circumstances,
just as like a defensive measure, as I pointed out with Edward Cabrera.
specifically. This last group of five, I don't know that you need to go that far because I don't think
their upside is quite the same as those first 10, but Brian Wu next week at Oakland, great matchup at Texas.
Not so great matchup, but you like a two-star week. And then it gets Texas the final week.
So you might not use them in that final week. But if your championship games next week,
take advantage of those two stars with Brian Wu.
Logan Allen, similar case for next week at Kansas City, great matchup versus Baltimore, not so much.
But Logan Allen in the final week gets Detroit.
So he might even be a better play then.
Jake Berger, I mentioned the twins have the best,
maybe the best hitter matchups over the final two weeks.
The Marlins are pretty close.
And Jake Berger, you know, those matches are good news for a lot of Marlins hitters,
but Berger, I think, could do the most damage,
given his extreme power potential.
Michael King, don't love him so much for the second to last week of the season,
one matchup against Toronto.
But then the following week, he gets Toronto again.
and Kansas City
two-star play
and points leagues
especially with that
relief pitcher eligibility.
I think Michael King
is a good pickup.
Finally, Javier Assad,
just great matchups
the rest of the way.
Upcoming week
to Pirates and Rockies.
Got to like that.
Final week of the season
at Milwaukee.
I don't think
Javier Assad
is an especially
dominant pitcher
or anything like that,
but with matchups that good,
he's already shown
he can take advantage
and potentially
give you a quality
start, even if the strikeout rate is low.
