We have a new name at the top of the prospects to stash list.
Find out who up next on Fantasy Baseball Today Express.
Welcome in to FPC Express on Thursday, July 2nd.
I am Frank Stamble here with Scott White,
and we have five prospects on the periphery.
These are five names who are making some noise as of late.
We have Max Anderson of the Tigers.
Bo...
You know, I wrote Bo Anderson.
That's not true.
That is not his name.
name is not Bo Anderson.
It is Bo Davidson.
Keep going, Frank. Just keep going. Keep this all in there.
Bo Davidson.
Someone else edits it now, so I don't want to give him too much work.
All right. Let's do it.
And three, two, and one.
We have a new name at the top of the Prospects to Stash.
Find out who it is up next on Fantasy Baseball Today Express.
Welcome into FBT Express on Thursday, July 2nd.
I am Frank Stamphill joined by Scott White,
and let's start things off with the five prospects on the periphery.
We have Max Anderson of the Tigers,
Bo Davidson of the Giants,
Bryce Rainer of the Tigers,
Andrew Fisher of the Brewers,
and Henry Lalane of the Yankees.
Scott, what do we have on this group?
So Max Anderson is batting 308,
in the minors this year, upper levels of the miners,
after hitting 296 at the upper levels of the miners last year.
This is a second basement, 24 years old.
And you may have noticed the Tigers have had an opening at second base most of the season.
Glaper Torres keeps going down with an oblique injury.
He's on the aisle again with it.
I missed a month earlier with it.
Recently, a player of summer.
prospect stature himself
Huyi Lee has been filling in, but not
particularly well.
And so with Anderson hitting well
AAA, I think this opens a lane for him.
Now, is he that great of
a prospect? I would say not
despite
having, I think, pretty clearly a good
hit tool.
And, you know, he's home at 11 times
this year, 19 times last year.
He's delivered power, but the eggs of velocity
readings are pretty weak, 87.6
mile per hour average 109.7
mile per hour max
he's also not much of
an on base threat and stretch
defensively even at second base
so I don't know that he
really has a future as an everyday player
in the majors either but he does have an interesting
skill and he does have a path
I'm explaining why he's on my
five in my five on the periphery
rather than my five on the verge
Max Anderson though somebody worth
mentioning right now let's go with
Bo Davidson of the John
who first came to light as an undrafted player who was just shredding their lower minors in 2024.
And I think ever since then, a lot of evaluators have been waiting for him to expose why he went undrafted.
And it looked like that may be happening early this year with the move up to AA, but his June is entirely dispelled that idea.
For the month, Beau Davidson hit 309 with 11 homers, seven stolen bases.
he remains a burgeoning power speed threat
in an organization that's pretty light on outfield talent.
Bryce Rainer, former first round pick of the Tigers,
spent much of his career, pro career so far injured,
had surgery at the end of last year for a torn labrum in his shoulder.
When he came back earlier this year,
his swing was off, it was big and exact,
and just needed to clean it up.
He struck out 44% of the time in his first 31 games, did Bryce Rainer.
But second half of May was able to tone it down, get the strikeouts down,
and then in June he took off Bryce Rainer slash 352, 478, 6662 for the month,
six homers, five steals, a strikeout rate closer to 25%, which is more palatable.
I think he's going to be in double A soon.
with as good as his June was,
and he's still only 20 years old.
If he reaches AA at that age,
I think it's still fair to call Bryce Rainer,
one at the top shortstop prospects in baseball pretty clearly.
Andrew Fisher is somebody who,
I mean,
the Brewers took him in the first round this past year,
is the 20th overall pick.
He has exploded here recently in terms of power.
Another two-homer game,
Tuesday has brought him to 26 at the time of this recording.
It's a three-way tie for the minor league lead with 26.
Six and 11 games just since moving up to AA.
So, like, you know, that's kind of a weed out level.
And it hasn't slowed Fisher down.
He's continued to crush it.
He's also reached base at a 437 clip.
Plenty of walks there.
And he's a left-handed hitting third baseman,
which I think it's going to give him plenty of runway
as he moves up the minor league ladder for the brewers.
Problem for Andrew Fisher is he striking out more than 33% at the time.
You can get away with that in the minors easier than you can in the majors.
Easier than you can in the majors.
He's already 22.
So if it becomes more of an issue as he gets deeper into these levels
where they throw more breaking balls,
there's not going to be much margin for error there at that age.
So definitely exciting the trendfisher's on.
Don't know that I'd call him a high-end prospect yet, but he's interesting.
Finally, Henry Lelanay of the Yankees, he looked like he was emerging as a prospect, as a teenager,
and their lower levels, but then he, the shoulder issue messed him up the past couple years,
kind of fell off the map as a prospect.
He's come back strong this year just since the start of this season.
Average fastball velocity up two miles per hour, max up three.
He's peaking at 98 now as a 6'7-lefty, Henry Lelan.
His most recent start, 7-1 hit innings with 12 strikeouts and no walks.
That gives him now, I think, a chance to move up.
He's 22 years old.
So, like, 22 years old at Lowe, that's behind pace, obviously.
But you understand with all the injuries, and I think if,
he handles the next step of the latter.
Henry Lelani will become a prospect you're hearing a lot more about.
All right.
Let's take a quick break, and we'll be back right after this.
Welcome back, FBT Express.
We are here talking prospects,
and we are counting down the top five that are on the verge right now.
And we will start with number five.
That is Zach Veen of the Rockies.
Yeah, Zach Veen continues to kill it at AAA,
up to 14 homers, 14 steals.
OPS has exceeded 1,000 now.
The exit velocities are strong.
It's walking more than ever.
All of this coincides with the revelation this spring
about him having some substance abuse issues prior in his minor league career.
So he showed up in a better place, physically and mentally,
and he's killing it.
And I think because he's already on the Rocky's 40-man roster,
He may be the first choice to come up if and when they have an outfield opening.
Unclear when that's going to be.
They're pretty full there already and have Brenton Doyle coming back from injury soon.
But even so, Zach Veen is making his case.
Number four on this list is Luis Lara of the Brewers.
It feels like we probably need an injury before he gets called up.
I feel like they would have called him up already by now.
Yeah, there was a bit of a slump there earlier in June.
June. When we last talked about him, he seemed to snap out of it with a five-hit game. And since then, seven-for-twenty-one. So he seems to be on the right track again, and, you know, the Brewers just need to figure out what it's going to happen. They signed him to a seven-year deal early in June, so they're paying him a major league salary to toil in the minors. And obviously, there are no service time issues anymore because he's already locked up to a long-term deal. He would immediately become the Brewers' best defensive out.
outfielder. I think it's just
Garrett Mitchell has hung in there so far.
I don't know that he'll continue to.
He doesn't have the best health track record to begin with.
But for now, they're content with him.
Any slippage, though, Louise Lars coming up.
Number three on this list is someone we've heard a lot about all season.
That is Cade Anderson of the Mariners.
When might this happen, Scott?
I think it's going to happen is the thing.
It doesn't appear imminent.
They're already struggling to make use of their rotation surplus
as it is coming up with these hairbrained piggyback schemes
that they're having trouble following through on.
So there's no room for Anderson right now, clearly.
But he will be up this summer unless he himself gets hurt.
And I think if you hesitate to add him,
he's already 50% rostered in CBS leagues.
If you hesitate to Adam, you're going to miss out on what could be the most impactful call-up this year.
So that's why I'm including him here, even though there's no path at the moment.
All right, Joshua Baez.
Move on over.
He gets bumped up to number two here.
And look, he's one of the best power prospects at all of baseball right now,
but we are waiting for a spot to open up here for the Cardinals as well.
Yeah, and he's slipped a bit since that big power surge.
Of course, the Four Homer game standing out most of all.
Past seven games at the time of this recording,
one for 20 with seven strikeouts.
And that strikeout rate for the season is still over 30%.
Remember, a big reason, Baez surged up the prospect rankings last year
has greatly improved contact skills.
He's backslid there.
And Heim Bloom, the Cardinals, President of Baseball Operations,
recently commented on this.
He said big league pitchers are the best in the world at exploiting weaknesses.
There's always an adjustment period regardless, but it's on us to help our players build the right foundation for success at the highest level.
He's got the ceiling of an impact player and not just a one-dimensional guy, and we want to make sure he's prepared to do that.
So I don't know that they're convinced he's ready.
Nathan Church just hit a big home run Tuesday and maybe they're content with him in center for now.
But bias is close and definitely has a ton of power.
The number one prospect on the verge right now.
He has taken over the top spot.
That is Charlie Condon of the Rockies.
Scott, what is he up to lately?
So as I mentioned with Zach Veen,
there's not a opening for him,
and it's possible Veen will be up before Condon.
Again, Condon, I'm sorry,
he'll be up before Charlie Condon
because he's already on the 40-man roster
and Condon isn't.
But Condon is just so insanely hot right now
that I feel like he has to occupy
the top spot on this list, just in case something happens.
You know, at some point they're going to sell off Jake McCarthy.
You'd think maybe even Mickey Moniac.
Condon is capable of playing the outfield just as he has first base.
OPS is closing in on 1,000 now since we last talked,
batting average up 16 points, another four homers.
He is just on fire.
And, you know, if a couple injuries hit this week,
you're going to feel pretty stupid for not picking up content ahead of time.
All right.
