Welcome to New Orleans and the game inside the games,
presented by Microsoft Co-Pilot. I am Sport and Performance Psychologist the games presented by Microsoft Copilot.
I am sport and performance psychologist, Dr. Michael Gervais.
This week, we are streaming a daily series from Super Bowl's Radio Row.
I'll be joined by former NFL stars, Greg Olson and Brandon Marshall.
In my experience working with the world's best at the Olympics, across two Super Bowls,
the World Cup, one truth stands out. There are two games best at the Olympics, across two Super Bowls, the World Cup, one truth
stands out. There are two games happening at the same time. There's the one we all see, the game
played under the brightest lights in front of millions, where champions are crowned and history
is written. It's the game that carries the hopes of cities and nations where every move is analyzed,
every mistake magnified, and every play has the power to define a legacy. But the real competition?
That happens in the mind. The inner game, the way you work with your thoughts and emotions,
the battle against doubt, the ability to manage pressure, the capacity to trust oneself in the
face of uncertainty, distinguishes those who meet the moment from those who come up short.
This game has been largely hidden from view. It doesn't play out in highlight reels or show up
in stat sheets, yet this is where the Super Bowl's outcome is determined in these amazing
athletes' ability to eloquently adjust to the demands of the moment. That's why we created this series, The Game Inside the Games.
We pull back the curtain, revealing the unseen psychological battles that shape champions.
Because if you want to understand greatness, you have to start where the game is won or
lost, inside.
In this series, we are really excited to introduce a new special segment called the Confidence Playbook, presented by Mack Weldon, where we
explore the inner workings of confidence and how it shows up in high-performance
environments. Because if there's one stage that demands confidence, it's the
Super Bowl. Confidence is misunderstood. People often think that confidence comes
from past success, from stacking up wins, or that you can fake it until you make it,
as if pretending to be confident
magically makes you unshakable.
Confidence is a skill.
It's built over time.
There's a science to it.
It comes from what you say to yourself,
which is always under your control.
And underneath that,
it's built by consistently putting yourself in uncomfortable,
sometimes downright challenging circumstances,
where you earn the right to say to yourself,
I can do difficult things.
And then you practice speaking that way until one day,
it feels like the heat no longer phases you.
It's not about knowing that you'll succeed.
It's about knowing that you'll figure out how to adjust whatever the outcome is, whatever happens.
And as you'll hear in this segment throughout this series, many athletes on the world stage like the Super Bowl have mastered this skill.
The skill of getting to their edge.
The skill of building confidence. And here's the
kicker. Confidence isn't for the select few. It's available to anyone willing to lean into discomfort
and put in the reps. And the best part, you don't need a Super Bowl moment to start building it.
You just need to start. Mack Weldon is on a mission to help men feel more confident through
their collection of high quality apparel that blend timeless style, modern comfort and substance over image.

All right, now it's time for the AI Insights brought to you by Microsoft Copilot.
In my preparation for this series, I asked Copilot to identify iconic,
pivotal moments in Super Bowl history. And here's the first thing that came up. Here's the title.
Super Bowl 49, Malcolm Butler's interception, a legendary moment in Super Bowl history.
This was a pivotal moment. And I know because I was there on the sidelines with the Seattle Seahawks.
26 seconds left, second and goal from
the one yard line. We were inches away from back to back titles. And the Patriots, they're just
seconds away from a heartbreak. The energy in the stadium was electric. It was tense. Like everybody
knew something massive was about to happen, but nobody knew what. And then in the blink of an eye,
everything flipped. I saw Malcolm Butler
break on the ball and the force of his body colliding with Ricardo Lockett. The ball was
secured. The shock was settling in. We had victory in our grasp. And in a fraction of a second,
he was gone. At first, it looked like instinct, like pure reaction, but it wasn't. Malcolm had not seen this play before, but he was prepared.
He had trained his mind to recognize this formation, to anticipate the throw,
to react before the ball had even left Wilson's hands.
That's what made this moment so profound.
It wasn't luck. It wasn't magic.
It was preparation, meeting opportunity at the highest stakes imaginable.
That's why we're starting here. Because the game inside the games isn't about skill or talent.
It's about mental sharpness, real-time decision-making, and the ability to execute
under pressure when the moment chooses you. So the question is, what separates the people who
seize the moment from the ones who hesitate?
And that's what we're here to find out.
