Starting point is 00:00:00 Is Fat Burger the best burger chain to come out of Southern California? In L.A. institution so iconic, it's been wrapped about by Tupac. Fat Burger started as a stand with only three stools almost 80 years ago by a hardworking woman who reportedly put in 18-hour days to get the restaurant started. Is it still worth the hype all these decades later? The onion rings were delicious and perfectly battered, but the Wall of Fame for eating burgers gave me an inferior. complex. Their workers followed all of our customization rules to a tea, but boy, did they send us to
Starting point is 00:00:36 soft city on their special burgers. The music selection was rock so soft I'd sleep in a bed of it, but they served me a single wet tomato slice in a paper bag that was dissolving before my very eyes. This week on the show, I'll stack my double beef patties of knowledge between your buns of curiosity so that you two may know everything I've learned about Fat Burger. Then we'll give it a full review covering everything that was good, not good, and just there about it before seeing if it advances on in the September Ger tournament. This is the Fine Dining Podcast. The tomato in the bag was just, I thought, just whimsical, because I've never seen a
Starting point is 00:02:27 side of anything, just be like in a fry bag. It felt like a happy meal toy. It was like, here's your gift. And then I'm like, oh, it's soaking and a tomato. It's like next up in the Fat Burger Kids meal is you have to pick a side of a cutie, a little fries, or just a loose tomato in a bag. Hello, and welcome to the fine dining podcast, the quest to compare all restaurants to Chili's. I'm your host, Michael Ornellis, and this is the podcast where we dive deep into the history of your favorite restaurants and then thoroughly review them by comparing them to Chili's. This week, we're covering the final participant in this year's Septemberger tournament, the number one seed, Fat Burger.
Starting point is 00:03:06 We'll determine a winner in their match against McDonald's and see if they advance to the semifinals and finals episode next week. And joining me to judge this Callie Staples is a tremendously talented performer, a bit of a goofball, and they're the human equivalent of listening to a song you haven't heard in literally 15 years. And yet somehow you still nail the rap verse. It's Miranda Coker. Yay. Nice. Thank you for having me. How's it going?
Starting point is 00:03:31 It's going good. This was the culmination of three different. September or recordings in one week for me. So I had my seventh, eighth, and ninth burgers of the week. I'm so over burgers. That makes total sense. And these were like hefty burgers also. They were not.
Starting point is 00:03:53 Yeah, at least when I did McDonald's, it was like, hey, these are kind of nothing. They're tiny. Yeah, nothing burger, as the kids say. The burgers hit more than I expected them to being so burgered out this week. Do you have a history with Fat Burger? I think just my history of Fat Burger is I grew up very close to the location we went to. So I remember going a lot. And then I do a lot of comedy around another Fat Burger location. Yeah. And I do comedy at that same spot. And it's always tempting. You smell it in the parking lot. And then it's just not the most enticing Fat Burger location. But
Starting point is 00:04:36 in a pinch, it does get the job done. Oh, yeah. My history with Fat Burger is that I've always preferred it for the like original LA chains over In and Out. And a lot of people have found that sacrilegious. But they're both L.A. Staples. It's a different product. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:57 In and out is great value. It's pretty affordable for a small but very good burger. Fat burger offers the heft that I want. Yeah, I think I'm not the biggest heft per, like, I don't mind a hefty burger, but I'm like, I think I like the In-N-Out burger a little bit better because it's not as hefty. Yeah. But I think in the grand scheme of things of like looking at the menu, looking at the quality of like other items, I do agree that like fat burger is better than In-N-Out in terms of overall. I've never hated myself after eating an In-N-Out burger. And that's not true for Fat Burger.
Starting point is 00:05:37 So there is something to that. But. Yeah. Yeah. Also like Fat Burger, like both in and out and Fat Burger have not made me feel like gross after having it. There are other chain burgers that have made me feel gross after having them. Fair. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:50 Looking at you, Carl's Jr. Looking at you, five guys. Oh, yeah. I mean, that's just too many guys. Yeah. It's always going to be gross and you get that many guys in the room. Well, that's your history with Fat Burger and mine. Do you want to hear the history of Fat Burger?
Starting point is 00:06:04 Oh, yes. I love history. All right, we're going to jump into this week's Eat Deets. Eatery Detail. Fat Burger began when black entrepreneur, Lovie Yancey launched Mr. Fat Burger in South Los Angeles in 1947, reportedly building the tiny stand with scrap construction materials. When she separated from her business partner in 1952, her boyfriend, she dropped the mister. Yancey thought Fat Burger was meant to be a burger piled with everything, a meal by
Starting point is 00:06:43 itself, she worked marathon shifts while customers such as Ray Charles and Red Fox helped turn it into an after-hours L.A. institution. I didn't realize that Fat Burger was a black woman owned and started. That's so cool. Yeah. Because like I- In 1947. No, exactly. 1947.
Starting point is 00:07:02 Pre-Civil rights movement. Yeah, pre-civil rights movement. A black woman owned an operated business and like ran it. And it's still going today. And it's like, it's super solid. Like that's- It is run by white people now. I just, yeah, I know.
Starting point is 00:07:17 But she cashed out. We'll get there. Yeah. Yeah. Yancy sold her steak in Fat Burger for about $3 million in 1990. A Magic Johnson-led group later controlled the chain, selling its roughly 40 restaurants to Andrew Weidhorne's fog-cutter capital for $7 million in 2003. Weirthorhorn reorganized Fat Burger beneath Fat Brands,
Starting point is 00:07:39 whose 2017 IPO converted the company into a publicly traded, restaurant conglomerate that also includes Johnny Rockets, Marble Slab Creamery, Fizzoli's, Roundtable Pizza, among others. Fat stands for fresh, authentic, tasty. Two things. One, it's like, missed opportunity to just be like, we're changing it to fat basketball after Magic Johnson and everything. Fat basketball? There's something cooking there of just like, just putting basketball in there just because it's like magic Johnson. Just every product they go into business for, they put fat before it. Yeah. Just like that or just like figuring out a way to put July's basketball in it.
Starting point is 00:08:17 It's like changing it around. Yeah. Stupid. Yeah. And then fat being like fresh, authentic and tasty. Yeah. Like, listen, two of the three, I feel like. I mean, I guess like, yeah, it was like fresh ingredients, but I don't feel like
Starting point is 00:08:35 fresh after having fat burger. Also authentic. There's no counterpoint to authenticity for a burger. You know, it's not like it was made in like the mother. land or something. It's not like, it's not like Italian food where you're like, is this like an actual hand-cranked noodle or, you know, Chinese food where it's like, is the clientele white people or do actual Chinese people eat here, you know, go to San Gabriel Valley. That's, that's where the good Chinese food is. Or Orange County. There's a lot of good Asian food in LA. Yeah. That's that's the takeaway. I don't know how I got here. We're talking about burgers. Where am I? Where am I? Hip Hop was Fatburger's marketing agency. Ice Cube's 1992 song It Was a Good Day gave Fatburger perhaps its most enduring unpaid endorsement.
Starting point is 00:09:23 Biggie and Tupac also referenced it. Magic Johnson, Kanye West, Ferell Williams, Queen Latifah, Montel Williams, and E40 later became owners or franchisees, while Nikki Minaj and Justin Bieber were publicly identified as fans. Afro-Man even has a song simply called Fat Burger. publicly identified as Fat Burger fans is crazy. Yeah, I wanted to go renew my ID at the DMV and they asked one of the questions was, do you publicly identify as a Fat Burger fan? Would you like to donate your organs?
Starting point is 00:09:55 Do you identify as a Fat Burger fan? You can only check yes to one of those. For the animated show's 2011 premiere, four Fat Burger restaurants were completely rebranded as the fictional Bob's Burgers, serving a bacon and egg thanks a brunch burger and giving away free food. A traveling fatmobile extended the promotion around Los Angeles, which was unusually elaborate crossover since it happened years before restaurant and streaming tie-ins became routine. Ooh, innovative. Also, I feel like of the like fast food burger chains to like be like the Bob's burgers,
Starting point is 00:10:34 like burgers, I feel like fat burger is a pretty good choice. Sure. I'm always late to adopt. watching new shows. Oh, same here. I'm never, oh, this just, I think the last show whose premiere episode I watched the week it started was community. And that was when I was in college. That was 17 years ago or something like that.
Starting point is 00:11:00 So it's like I always wait for the initial hype to die down and then we'll jump onto something. and this is a case where I wish I had been excited beforehand about Bob's burgers because this is a collaboration I would have loved to try. I also didn't live in Los Angeles in 2011. I moved in 2012. So I missed it by a year anyways. But that would have been such a fun thing to partake in, especially given how much I really enjoy Bob's burgers now. Yeah, that would have been like, I wasn't because I'm like born and raised in L.A., but I was like, I think I was watching Bob's Burbers, but not like as into it as I am now. So again, misliked the thing, but still very fun.
Starting point is 00:11:40 And it's a brunch burger. I love a burger that has bacon and egg on it, if done well. Yes. If done well. I've had them where they're not. And that's disappointing. Yep. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:52 Fat Brands entered Chapter 11 bankruptcy in January, 26, carrying roughly $1.4 billion in debt after years of acquisition fueled borrowing and legal expenditures. Weederhorn and the company had. had been indicted in 2024 over alleged concealment of $47 million in shareholder loans, but prosecutors dropped the criminal charges in 2025 and the SEC dismissed its civil case in March 26. Fat Burger, fat standing for like failure at taxes or something. That was quick.
Starting point is 00:12:26 That was quick. And that's why they pay me the big improv bucks. That is true. You do make money from improv. Yep. I'm the only, yep, the only person. Fatburger's current franchise page claims it has 200 plus restaurants across 16 U.S. states, but confusingly, it states it has locations in either 15 or 20 countries, depending on where you look.
Starting point is 00:12:48 Canada alone reported more than 70 Fatburger outlets as of 2025. Pre-bankruptcy growth agreements included 40 additional Florida restaurants, 30 in France, and four in Okinawa, Japan. Whether every promised unit survives the ownership restructuring is unspecified. From what it sounds like, it's that there's, like, more countries it's in than, like, states it's in. And it feels like. And even then 70 in Canada is a lot. Yeah, that's a, yeah, that's a ton. And, like, they're like, like, some, like, decent, like regional chains that, like, I feel like not as many people know that, like, fat burger.
Starting point is 00:13:21 And they're, like, in, like, more, like, states and more areas. Yeah. Being more internationally known than nationally known yet being from this nation is very interesting. but is not as unique as you would expect. The Middle East in particular, a lot of the like more westernizing or westernizing appearing countries have a lot of U.S. chains.
Starting point is 00:13:48 Like I feel like the, the UAE has so many of our chains there. I think because Dubai is there, right? Yeah. Yeah. And Dubai is very much trying to appeal to Western culture and American. And so it's very like, they've just got everything. I feel like even when I've covered places that it's like they only exist in two countries,
Starting point is 00:14:09 it's like the U.S. and the UAE. I hadn't heard of Fat Burger though before moving to California. Yeah. Has it like been a part of your life always, like you've always known about it? Yeah, I've always known about it from like being here. And then because I went to college in Rhode Island and lived there for like a decade. And there are some places there where like I ran to people who like didn't know a lot about like West Coast or like other areas. area like regional chains. Like I was in a like freshman year writing class and we were reading like this
Starting point is 00:14:37 article to like dissect and do other things. And it talked about, uh, yeah, I think it was Jack in the Box where I was like, oh yeah, I love Jack and Box. And everyone was like, I've never heard of this thing. And I'm like, you've never heard of Jack in the Box? Jack in the Box feels like it's everywhere. But it's also just been in the places that I've lived. I might have to look up where it's not, but Jack in the Box feels pretty ubiquitous. I think I was also just hyperware of Jack in the Box because When I was growing up, my dad was friends with the guy who wore the Jack costume for commercials. Oh, okay. Whose name was, in fact, Jack.
Starting point is 00:15:07 Fun. Mm-hmm. I assume the guy who wore the costume is not the same person who provided the voice. No. Yeah, it's like not that thing. Same with like if they film anything for like theme park entertainment with like the costume characters. It's like obviously it's like a prerecorded tape or like a different voice like happening out. Because they can't project through the costumes.
Starting point is 00:15:28 challenge accepted I'm gonna scream I ruin all the audio you set up and all the levels because it just screams straight into the mic Yeah And that'll do it For this week's eat deeds
Starting point is 00:15:43 All right so we went to Fat Burger I think it's time we can start reviewing it And let's start by focusing on positivity All the things that were good This is good Done like it should be Best up a spanker Lick I did not have a food that I didn't like.
Starting point is 00:16:09 I thought all the food that we had was like good. I had one food in the not good, not even in just there, but in not good. And it's a food I've had there before and hadn't had a problem with. So I think part of it was a mixture of the batch and how long it sat out. And we'll get to that when we talk about negative stuff. But that's not what this is for. But we got the original fat burger. We got the Western Bacon Barbecue Burger, and we got the Thousand Island burger.
Starting point is 00:16:38 Those are the three that we're doing for September. Then we got a shake each. I got a Maui banana chocolate shake. So I had Maui banana and chocolate because I was like, can you mix? And they were like, oh, you know we can. And so we did. And then you got a vegan banana shake. Yeah, I got the vegan Maui banana.
Starting point is 00:16:59 And then onion rings, skinny fries, and that's it. Mm-hmm. Pretty standard for like a fast food burger joint, but fat burger does it well. Mm-hmm. I think. Yeah, no, they did it really well. Let's start off not with the burgers because we'll get to that. Yes.
Starting point is 00:17:16 We got to tease the people. We got to tease. Starts all with drinks and sides first. Onion rings I really liked. Oh, the onion rings were incredible. Yeah. I don't think I'm picky with onion rings, but I feel like lately I've had a lot of onion rings that have disappointed me.
Starting point is 00:17:35 Like getting a C on a report card and coming home and I'm like, come on, you're better than this. You have more potential. Yeah, it's like average onion ring. It's like, oh, C's get to grades and it's like, oh, this will get me by. But boy, I wish I was doing better. Think of what you could be. You could be a doctor.
Starting point is 00:17:52 You could be a tempora battered doctor if you really applied your mind. And I will say, I thought these onion rings were tempora battered. I looked it up and they aren't. But it is like it's a much lighter batter, I thought, which for a place that often feels very heavy, to have an onion ring that to me felt light, I actually really liked. These were substantial, probably three inches in diameter maybe. And I like an onion ring that you can kind of mush into like a line and get like a double thick onion fry so that they're easier to dip. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:32 Because how do you dip a circle, you know? How do you dip a circle? It's impossible. Yeah. But I like took my first bite, I like first note are just like, are these going to be too crunching? It's like, no, I've just had substantially weaker onion rings before. And this is just like a more structurally sound onion ring. Yes. And you got like, there was zero onion slippage in that onion ring.
Starting point is 00:18:53 So many onion ring experiences I've had have been I take a bite and it's that first bite. The entire onion is out of the onion ring. And I'm just like eaten like bad. like a garbage human. I mean, hey, I'll do it happily. I'm not complaining, but it is just like me just eating like deep fried batter. Yeah. And also sometimes if you eat like a scalding hot onion ring and the onion comes out and then it like burns your face.
Starting point is 00:19:15 Crazy. But yeah. That's actually what happened to Darth Vader. That's why he had to wear the helmet because he had burns on his face. Very good. Everyone thought it was from Mustafa. Is that the planet? You were asking the wrong person.
Starting point is 00:19:27 All right. Okay. But for its. tier of fast casual restaurant. This was a great onion ring, I thought. I gave it an 8.2 out of 10. I gave it a nine. I gave it a nine.
Starting point is 00:19:42 Yeah. This is very good. This is great. Some might say excellent. I would happily go get these onion rings again right now. Actually talking about them and not having eaten today. But like, I need to not go back to a burger joint for months. I need to swear off them.
Starting point is 00:20:01 But yeah, great onion rings. The shake? Oh, I wasn't as big of a fan of like banana ice cream and like banana shakes like beginning. But my dad loved banana ice cream. Like when we go on like family vacations and get ice cream, he would always get banana ice cream. And so I think it's just like it's somewhere deep in my jeans where it's like banana ice cream. Because it's so good. It's like I love like a fun little different thing, like a different offering.
Starting point is 00:20:25 And then like their vegan shakes are really good. I've not had them, but I have heard specifically the vegan. vegan shakes at Fat Burger are a very good vegan shake option. Yeah, they're a really good vegan shake option. Obviously, I'm not vegan given burger. Right. But just to, like, help things on my tummy sometimes. I'll do a, like, vegan option.
Starting point is 00:20:46 And then I got the Maui banana chocolate shake because who doesn't love like a chocolate covered banana or something like that? So I was like, ooh, let's get that flavor profile in my shake. And this was delicious. This is, I am a big fan of banana. flavored stuff I get made fun of by society for liking artificial banana like a banana laughing like a banana laughing
Starting point is 00:21:12 oh I love a banana laughy tabby it's the best one and the jokes are best it's because if you're a dingus who's like this doesn't taste like real banana it's like I'm not going there we're looking for real banana I'm looking for that specific flavor right yeah I didn't come here expecting potassium yeah I'm not trying yeah I'm not trying to get my potassium like levels higher with this I'm not trying to get a hit, you know? Yeah. Just trying to get a hit of that sweet, sweet nan.
Starting point is 00:21:37 Yeah. I'm trying to taste the, like, extinct banana variety that the, that banana flavor is based off of them. Is that true? Yep. So it's not even that it doesn't taste like banana. It tastes like. It's based off of something you can't taste authentically anymore.
Starting point is 00:21:51 Mm-hmm. Interesting. Yep, because I believe that banana species got, like, I'm just going to say plant disease, whatever the thing. Like a blight? Yeah, like a blight or something, like a famine or something, where. knocked out that entire thing. So they like re-did a banana now, this new business species. I'm glad they gave us a any, I'm a just in general big banana fan. I'm glad that they'd like, they stayed in the fight. They're like, all right, if that one's gone, we're
Starting point is 00:22:17 still going to give you a banana. Yeah, it's not like, well, I guess we just won't have bananas anymore. This feels like you're saving your like final end of semester paper that you have to write for like the night before and your hard drive deletes it and you're like uh-uh not on my watch i'm gonna get you something teacher it may not be as good as the one before but i'm gonna get you something and then they stayed up all night and they're like we still have banana for the presentation yeah banana out of spite a spite banana yeah if that's your pull from what i said does that mean that you did homework only out of spite uh i think there were definitely moments where i'd put in like so much work for something and then like the drive deleted or something and rather than being like just giving up and be like now I'm like I put in too much goddamn work screw you to not do this I'm gonna remember this word for word hey I'm a scorpio spite is in RtNA my Maui banana chocolate shake I will give a nine out of ten yeah I gave my vegan Maui banana shake a 9.5 these are close to perfect foods mm-hmm close to perfect okay I did not have the
Starting point is 00:23:27 fries, the skinny fries that we got in the good. So I will turn it to you to talk about what you liked about these fries. I think similarly to a reason why you have them in like the not good is that I had them at a time where it wasn't like piping hot fresh out the bag. And I thought they still had like a crisp and like they still had like a structural thing, which there are a lot of fries where if you do not have them like immediately when they're hot, once they turn like room temperature to cold or hot garbage and then they're McDonald's being the. Exactly. The great offender of that. Yes.
Starting point is 00:23:59 Where it's like, well, this isn't a food anymore. Right. This is bushy potato. Yeah, but this was like still a potato. Like this is still a fry. There's still like a crisp. I was still like and enjoy it. Obviously like sometimes fries are just like standalone.
Starting point is 00:24:12 Sometimes just like this is just a vehicle for ketchup or like other dipping sauces. Yeah. I thought this was like could still hold its own as a fry on its own. But like having it with like ketchup or like another dipping sauce is like it wasn't just like lost in. lost in the sauce, if you will. Sure. Definitely not like my favorite fry ever, but I thought it was like a good solid fry. So I loved the onion rings so much that it took me a while to remember the fries were there.
Starting point is 00:24:39 So my experience with the fries were after they cooled off. So I will be talking about it in a different segment, but what did you score them? I scored them a 7.8. 7.8. Okay. That's a good fry. I also have the music in the good. Ooh.
Starting point is 00:24:56 The soundtrack to this place transported me. No, it was good because it's so easy for music in restaurants or like malls or like stores or everything to just be so gnawing or just like it can be too much. It can be like overstimulating. Yeah. It can be a lot. But this was like a perfect balance of like, ooh, good song choice and like being there without like being so overwhelming. Yeah. It was soft rock. It was like early R&B. It was like like Marvin Gay, let's get it on. It was like the second song that played. It was just all like, hey baby, sit back. We've got it from here. That's how. Fat Burger's going to talk you through it. That's what it felt like. It felt like they took my hand and like brushed my hair. Like it felt like it felt. It felt like they took my hand and like brushed my hair. Like it felt.
Starting point is 00:25:56 felt like the most sensual. You're being wine and dined. Like Carl's Jr. would never. They just go for like bikini girl on a hood of the car eating their burger. And it's like, hey, you can't just jump to that. You got to set the mood. Fat Burger set the mood. There's a romance and sensuality to Fat Burger.
Starting point is 00:26:15 Yeah. What I wrote was this was smooth. Is Fat Burger the horniest burger are we discussing? New ranking. It's the most sensual. Yes. Yeah, but I wrote, the music here was smooth, but not in that Rob Thomas way. I also wrote 100% hit rate. Nothing played where I was like, eh.
Starting point is 00:26:38 Yeah, I would ask if this was like, if there was a Spotify, makes this just Fat Burger music, I would ask for someone to send me that link so I could just have it. Yeah. Be like, look, I'm just trying to feel myself for a day. I'm going to listen to Fat Burger's music and I'm going to feel good about myself. I think that's what would happen. Okay, I think it's time that we can dive into the burgers now. Fat Burger is the number one seed in September. My seating process is based off of how I would consider the best experience I've had at each of these places.
Starting point is 00:27:11 And so Fat Burger was number one because of the eight that I picked, there were three that I had never had before. So I kind of ranked them based on my expectation and based on word of mouth that I had kind of seen in the discussion. discussion around them online. But Fat Burger was number one with the bullet of I remember the first time I had Fat Burger really impressing me. And then I've had a bunch of Fat Burger that I felt was pretty middling. So I didn't know what to expect. But I realized only afterwards that the Fat Burger we went to today was the first Fat Burger I ever went to. Oh. So maybe this is one of those cases of well, this is one of the good fat burgers, or just the one by the clubhouse is not one of the good ones,
Starting point is 00:28:04 or a middling one. But these all were so good. These all hit for me. So we got the original fat burger for round one. This is going to be up against the Big Mac. And before we jump into reviewing the fat burger, I want to let you know that McDone, McDonald's had the audacity to call out Fat Burger last week, and I think it's only fair to give Fat Burger a chance to respond.
Starting point is 00:28:39 I'm Fat Burger here, and I'm going out you, McDonald's. Oh, you're with your Big Mac? More like Sad Mac. What are you going to do? Compete with me with your little burger full of bread. We're all meat here, baby, at Fat Burger. Oh, you've got a clown for a mascot? We're going to make a clown out of you. and we win September berg. Us Fat Burger. Preach. Trueer words never been spoken. So let's get down to the match.
Starting point is 00:29:12 The Fat Burger, this is up against the Big Mac, so it has to beat a 4.37 to be able to advance. Don't laugh. Don't laugh. It's not a guarantee. Oh, it's got to beat a four point. You said four and I broke immediately. The decimals didn't matter.
Starting point is 00:29:36 Yeah, McDonald's not the best, but it's not out yet until we start saying some numbers. The Fat Burger, I thought this was just such a fresh mix of everything. Mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion, relish, patty, and bun. Huh. I wrote mustard twice. And I'm realizing that I wrote these in the order that they have, they have a breakdown on the counter of all the ingredients that go into their burger in the order that they go into their burger. Do they do like a double layer of mustard? I wonder if they do a double layer of mustard.
Starting point is 00:30:15 That's interesting because it didn't taste too mustardy. No, exactly. Like, we each had things that we were like, I get my burgers without this stuff. Yeah. So we're not having that. Like you had your, we got without cheese. no cheese. And then I got it, no tomato. And I got tomato on the side so that I could cut it and slice it in and yeah, I wasn't going to be like, can you give me a slice of cheese on the side?
Starting point is 00:30:39 Also, because like, it wouldn't melt the same. It wouldn't melt the same. It was just like, I'll deal with it. But there are like some ingredients on burgers and mustard's one of those where it's like, if it's just me on my own, the things that I'll sometimes ask for like without. But tomato is like a hard and fast. Never a raw tomato for me. But like mustard's one of those where it's like sometimes I'll go between like ordering without mustard and stuff. Yeah. And for this to. It's a very strong flavor.
Starting point is 00:31:03 Yeah. So for this to be potentially double mustard and for me to like not, like I noticed that there was mustard by not noticing like a double mustard. Very cool. It's also very possible that their diagram is a typo. Yeah. Crazier things have happened. But this, the patty tasted well seasoned.
Starting point is 00:31:22 Mm-hmm. It was just really refreshing. It didn't feel too greasy despite the fact that it had a pretty. decent amount of grease. Yeah, I was surprised with for being greasy, for being like having like multiple condiments. The bun, I was worried it was going to be like a weaker bun because if you look it up on like the website or on the menu, they describe that as like a sponge something. Like they use the word sponge in the descriptor of their bun because like how soft and like squishy it is. Yeah, yeah. And I'm like, oh, anything that's described as like sponge something. This is going to disintegrate immediately. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like it held together for being like a soft bun and like. that. That's funny. My brain thinks the opposite, but I think of an unwet sponge and how like tough it is. So if I hear sponge, I'll think of that version of sponge. Yours makes way more sense to assume. Yeah, I'm thinking of like when I'm thinking of like a sponge doing its job of
Starting point is 00:32:16 absorbing. Yeah. And I'm thinking of an out of work spun. They also, that burger is known for, they have a burger challenge where you have to eat the triple XL burger. And it's a pound and a half of meat. The one we got is a third of a pound. So four plus times more than this to get your picture on the wall, I thought this was the perfect size. I definitely agree. Like, I don't need more.
Starting point is 00:32:46 If you like meat, if you like a meaty or beefier flavor to your burger, they definitely offer it. They've got the fat burger, the King burger, the like XL, double X and triple X, I think are the burgers they have in terms of size. Triple X burger. I gotta stop making this episode horny. With all the music that was playing, you get the triple X burger and they're just like, sir, you have to eat this in 10 minutes. You're not allowed to wipe away anything.
Starting point is 00:33:14 You're not allowed to drink anything. And you have to do without getting an erection. Oh, man, I'm not getting my photo on the wall. I haven't even started yet and I'm breaking one of those. But I really loved this burger. This was my favorite of the three. This is my second favorite of the three. But they were very consistent across the board.
Starting point is 00:33:39 So all my scores are fairly close. I went 7.59 for this. I went 8.43 for this. This is great. I think for a first round burger that's just kind of like the basics. Fat Burger is comparable to the other places in the tournament that really stand out to me for that, which are and BurgerFi. Those two, I remember having just really good fundamentals. So 7.59, 8.43.
Starting point is 00:34:16 When you average those together, Fat Burger gets a 4.1. Oh, no, it didn't beat McDonald. I was not to say I got a three points. I was also going to make that stupid show. No, it gets an 8.01. It almost doubled the score of McDonald's. Yep. So, officially, McDonald's, you're out of here.
Starting point is 00:34:42 That's a new thing, I guess. I'm adding that to the official lore of Septemberger during the final Septemberer. That when you're eliminated, I go, you're out of there. We got two other burgers, but because Fat Burger has advanced, I'm going to cover them with you in next week's episode, the Septemberger semi-finals. So we're going to jump into everything that was not good for now. So for the not so good. I'm not what you're about. It could have done without it.
Starting point is 00:35:19 The stuff that brings down the moon. Not. So for the not good, I had the skinny fries. Mm-hmm. And it's only because I let them sit a really long time. They had already gotten not cold. The stuff doesn't get cold unless you refrigerated. But it definitely was like lukewarm slash room temp.
Starting point is 00:35:44 Mm-hmm. And it was just mush. and there was like a little funk to the flavor. I won't say it tasted like it had gone bad by any means, but it just was like, it was very grease forward, I guess. And so I wasn't getting the potato. I just, I didn't love them. But I'm not like punishing them drastically.
Starting point is 00:36:04 This is a cusp food. It's at a four, which could be not good. It could be just there depending on how you look at it. I put it not good solely to, it's like I'm grounding them. for, again, sees get degrees, but you get grounded. You don't always get
Starting point is 00:36:19 used to the car. Yeah. And so. Yeah, it's like, I'm giving you a warning here. Like, I'm not like fully punishing,
Starting point is 00:36:26 but like, where... Get your act together. Yeah, exactly. I do want you to go to college, you know? Yeah. Or something after high school.
Starting point is 00:36:33 I don't want you to just sit around, but like, it doesn't have to be college. Mm-hmm. I'm not going to push that narrative. And then the other thing is, they have fat fries and we didn't get them. And I'm a little bummed that we didn't get them.
Starting point is 00:36:45 That's, no one's fault. I mean, literally mine, I guess, for not ordering them, but we had already had skinny fries and onion rings and I didn't want us to go insane. Yeah. And they also have sweet potato fries, which sound like they would be good. But the fat fries are something that I see brought up in the Yelp reviews a lot as a thing that people like. I wish they had a mix. I wish you could be like, give me a skinny and fat mix. Give me a medium mix. Yeah. Give me an average size fry. I'm just thinking, yeah, because the fat fries is whipping. I think I've had the prize before and like they're good but like they haven't stuck my head to be like oh these are
Starting point is 00:37:19 amazing fries but i feel like given the critiques unless you we had done it like how we did the thousand island burger where we ordered it later later i think the critiques you had for the fries for the skinny fries would have just been like amplified yeah exactly because it's like it's just more it's like well there's that more like but it might hold heat longer so it also might cool off faster i don't know the physics i'm not a potato scientist I'm not a potato scientist. Never said I was. I'm not any kind of scientist.
Starting point is 00:37:49 But I don't have anything else and not good. Did you, you don't have anything? I only have the too much sauce on the, like, especially burgers, which I thought, like, flavor-wise, like, fine. There wasn't any burger I disliked. But I thought that the, like, sauces, like, overtook the burgers in a way that I did not love. The proportions were, like, hey, man, chill, you know. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:15 And chill. We both went to the like window and we just, hey, man, chill. And they didn't chill. They didn't chill. So that's it for everything that's not good. And before we talk about everything that was just there, I want us to sit in an area of criticism and anger. The Fine Dining podcast is yet another bastion of your specific brand of free speech, as this is your platform to say whatever you want, my next segment.
Starting point is 00:38:45 The heat lamp. Miranda, I'm dying to know. My heat lamp. Heat lamp. Give you my hottest steak. Hot steaks. I'm so hot right now. Miranda, I'm dying to know what is your restaurant hot take.
Starting point is 00:39:08 Hey, waitstaff. If you see someone who is very clearly full and done eating, but there's still a lot of food on their plate, don't be like, oh, did you not like the food or do you want a to go box? Some people just have like low appetites and just have small tummies and they really like the food, but they just don't have the wherewithal. And also they're the kind of person where if they bring a leftover home, it becomes just garbage in their fridge. And you have to realize that about yourself. That is me. Okay.
Starting point is 00:39:40 So I've got some thoughts on this. One, yes, how much you eat of something doesn't necessarily correlate to how much you liked it. I've had stuff where I'm like, I love this, but I'm a little bit. full, but I just, I had to have at least a bite of it. And then conversely, I think restaurants have started going crazy with portion sizes. Oh, absolutely. Like, if I got half the food for half the money everywhere, I would be so happy. Everywhere. Yeah. Well, that's like a big reason why, like, so many of like my favorite foods, not just because they are like my favorite food and I love them. But things like, I really like sushi.
Starting point is 00:40:22 I really like tapas. I really like things where it is like smaller portions. So I have a lot more control of like what I eat. And it's like I've been able to finish all of the food that I ordered and I did not like over exert myself. And I don't get someone coming up to me after I've like not finished food and been like, oh, did you not like the food? And then I feel like I'm being insulting to the chef.
Starting point is 00:40:42 Oh, and also, so what? Maybe I didn't like the food. Are you confronting me about it? Like all the outcome. are uncomfortable. Yeah. And I, I guess going more to the restaurant portions are too big side of this, I overeat oftentimes because I'm like, well, I have to eat the whole plate. And I'm trying to get myself to be like, I'll focus on animal products first because it's like if something died for this, I want to eat it.
Starting point is 00:41:10 If like if I let a potato go to waste, you know, nothing lost its life unless you're like an insane person. It's like, plants are alive. And it's like, yeah, but they're not alive alive. Yeah. you know, I'm anti-plant I'm Michael Ornellis and I don't see the personhood of plants. Come at me. Yeah, take that libs.
Starting point is 00:41:30 If I had a nickel for every time you've said that specifically. You'd have one nickel. I'd have one nickel. But boy, would it be shiny. But yeah, no, I, I, I. I completely agree. And while this might be a hot take, I'm there with you. Okay.
Starting point is 00:41:55 We can bring the temperature down a little bit now. Yeah, I know. It got heated. You said your piece to the waiters. They didn't get their chance to respond. Waiters chime in, sound off. Get in those comments. Please still tip your waiters.
Starting point is 00:42:14 Yes, please still tip your waiters. Yes. But waiters, stop putting people on the spot. to defend themselves or how much they did or didn't eat because it's not always a sign of anything. Cool. Well, now that cooler heads have prevailed, we can chill in a zone of mediocrity as we talk about everything that is just there. I thought decor-wise, good, but within the atmosphere, it was a little dingy and sticky. I don't love it. I don't love like a table that I can tell was greasy recently. And I thought that was the case here. But it like wasn't terrible. We went there earlyish. We went at like, what, 2 p.m. or something like that. Yeah, like around then. And they open at 11 way more hours to go than had passed. So they hadn't had time to get like gross yet. Yeah. It was just us for like a while in there.
Starting point is 00:43:21 Yeah. I'm a big fan of a neon sign and they've got like a big fat burger since 1952, which I find interesting. 1952 is when they dropped the mister, not when they opened. So they're not counting the years where the founder had that boyfriend involved decenter men, you know. But I found that interesting because like I'm the kind of person who'd be like, well, I still want to get the credit. I still want to give myself those extra three or four years, you know. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:57 Well, I appreciate you also explaining like the like why was that. Because to be honest, when you were like, oh, yeah, the sign was like since 952, my immediate instinct was like, well, actually. Right. But then it's like, oh, no, it's like, and here's why. That's when they, that's when they dropped the thing. Mm-hmm. The service I have in just there. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:44:15 They were nice. Yeah. But they weren't like above and beyond and they weren't bad. Mm-hmm. Yeah. I agree. but I think I would put it slightly higher than just me yoga because we did have like a decent amount of like customizations. And it's real easy for folks to forget those.
Starting point is 00:44:33 How do you handle that? It depends. Do you send back? Because with me and cheese, I will send back. The only thing that I will like very much send back is if I like, I can't do hot coffee. I think it's a sensory thing. I think it's there are a lot of things where I just can't do a hot coffee. So if I order
Starting point is 00:44:51 I order all my coffee's iced I order all my thing's iced So if they give me a hot coffee I will be like hey I order this iced And I see I see to remake that And oftentimes I'm not a coffee drinker So correct me if I'm wrong
Starting point is 00:45:05 Can't they just pour the coffee over ice then at that point If you do that then it kind of just like dilutes it Because you're like Melting the ice and they're melting the ice And it's like disrupting and it's also like shocking like coffee. So it is a remake. Yes. Okay. Okay. Yeah. I'm very like, hey, you went to a restaurant. The point is for them to serve you the food that you ask for. So if they get something wrong. And obviously within reason,
Starting point is 00:45:32 if it's like, there's an extra piece of bread on here. Take my whole plate. And just take the piece of bread on. But if it's like, to me, if it's a food that melts or if it's something that's wet and permeate, so like if you put a sauce on that, like I asked for it to be without, I'd probably send it back, or if it's like a cheese because it melts and all that. Other than that, I can work around. If I order no tomato and something, like, they bring it in there's tomato, I'll just, like, pick it off as opposed to. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:01 Just, yeah, send it back. Because tomato can be very juicy in a way where it's like, well, even though I'm not eating the raw tomato, I can tell, like, tomato was here. Like, it carved its name on everything. So that one I get. And I took a long time to warm up to, uh, a raw tomato and even then I'll probably only get it maybe half the time. Yeah, on sandwiches in particular, I'll usually ask no tomato.
Starting point is 00:46:25 So I get that one for sure. But yeah, so service for me, just there. But I think that's a good point about the customization options. And then the Wall of Fame was on the wall. And it made me feel inadequate because I want to be on the wall somewhere for some reason. and I don't want to eat a pound and a half burger. I know I'm never getting on a wall for anything. Like there's no food challenge that like I'm getting like because like I can't eat that
Starting point is 00:46:56 much food. Like maybe if it's like a, hey, if you eat this weird food you get on a wall, I think I can do that. Yeah. Rather than. If it's quantity based, I don't want to do it. Yeah. Can you do spicy?
Starting point is 00:47:06 I feel I can do like a genuine mild heat is my thing. Like I can do like some heat but there's like I've gotten like tied like noodles before where it's been like mild. but it's like a genuine like tie mild so it's spicier than I was planning which was like it was still very good but I was like oh if I had ordered anything more it would have been hospital it would have been the hospital for me yeah I'm like curtains it would have been curtains for me although I do have like a theory where it's like if I ever did like a hot ones thing I could do it as like a bit I think I'm more determined to like finish things and get to the end of things that I will comedy yeah truly yeah
Starting point is 00:47:42 I feel that. I, uh, in 2016 was doing a YouTube series and I ate a ghost pepper on stage in front of a bunch of people with a bunch of people too. It was good to have support. But, uh, that was rough. Yeah. I had at the, uh, Epcot Food and Wine Festival, they have this one booth that is the wing lab or something. It's like, it's, it's supposed to be run by like Beaker and Dr. Bunsen Honeydew. And it's like a puppet themed. And it's like, They have different wings, and they have this one where it's like extremely hot but incredibly good wing. And my friend got it and I tried some. And it used to be ghost pepper. I think they changed a Carolina Reaper. It's always just a really hot pepper. And like, I had a bite of it. And I was like, oh, it's good.
Starting point is 00:48:29 I think truly like 25 minutes of pain followed after of me just like, why? They don't call it a Reaper for no reason. It's not like they get it's not like the Carolina. cuddly unicorn I'm going to cut that I don't think that's a great joke no keep it in no everyone will love it
Starting point is 00:48:52 you gotta keep me you gotta keep that joking okay yeah I'm sticking by it the Carolina cuddly unicorn known for its low Scoville count
Starting point is 00:49:05 anything else in just there for you or is that every aspect of the dining experience I think that was every aspect. Yeah, I thought the vibes were good. Great. Well, that is everything that we have to say. It's time to hear what other people thought about the Fat Burger that we visited in this week's Yelp from Strangers. We need a little yelp, a little yelp. A little yelp. A little yelp. A little yelp. A little yelp. A one star, two star, three, star four, or five. I.
Starting point is 00:49:38 So get a little yelp A little yelp, a little yelp from strangers A little yelp, a little yelp Give us those complaints While you literally whiten, Yelp This is Yelp from Strangers, our segment where we turn to Yelp And read out our favorite One, two, three, four, and five star Yelp reviews
Starting point is 00:50:04 Of the very Fat Burger that we went to. Do you mind if I start with the first review? Oh yeah, no worries. All right. Five-star review. This is a five-star review from Eric C. From San Francisco, California, January 13th, 2009. In quotes, Eric lost his fatburger virginity here.
Starting point is 00:50:24 That's how we're starting. If I had a Sharpie that day, that would be written on the bathroom wall. Crazy. And once you've fat-burgered, you can't stop. I haven't gone to L.A. Fat Burger lists since that first amazing day. I realize that this is not the healthiest of places to eat at. They do, in fact, have fat in their name. But look at my face.
Starting point is 00:50:53 And then he just put like a smiley face. Does it look like I care? Picture this scenario. I just killed a man. And am waiting on death row. The executioner asks me how I want to die. My reply, O.D. On Fat Burger.
Starting point is 00:51:18 So not that his last meal on death row would be a fat burger meal. This man wants to die by Fat Burger. And classically, they give you the option of how would you like to die? Yeah, classic. Yeah, they ask you what your last meal was and how would you like to die. Might I offer you a twofer? Two birds, one stone. And then it says, and I would die.
Starting point is 00:51:40 a happy man. Because he got Fat Burger out of a murder. The government paid for my fat burger. Fat burger, a real killer burger. That's a crazy review. Yeah. You can't start a review with I lost my virginity and end your review with if I killed a man, I want to die by the hand of this burger.
Starting point is 00:52:06 A real like birth, sex and death review right over there. insane behavior. Not allowed. Yeah, not allowed. Not good behavior. Four star review. This one's from David A.R. Also in San Francisco, is a four star review. A lot of San Francisco people stopping at this fat burger.
Starting point is 00:52:24 Yeah. I wonder. I love all fat burgers, but this one holds a special place in my heart because many years ago, I was told by a total stranger who became my very close friend for a very sure while that you could get the primo shit in this parking spot. parking lot. And I'm not talking about burgers. So this guy's weed dealer
Starting point is 00:52:46 hooked him up with like, hey, this is, actually, I don't know. I don't know if it's weed. It could be. I mean, he doesn't say specifically, but it's like, so this fat burger gets a full four stars in recognition of this extracurricular business that goes on just outside stores.
Starting point is 00:53:01 Enjoy. No mention of the actual product or any experience in the actual fat burger. It's truly based off of like, He could, I'm assuming by drugs, uh, outside of this fat burger. Yeah. And you don't give fat burger the full five. Are you giving it four to blend in?
Starting point is 00:53:22 Yeah. It's like, hmm, what, what's the most I've been to this place, uh, rating? It's a four. Yeah. Um, yeah, that's like giving like a, your Uber driver four stars instead of five. And they gave you drugs. Listen, if my Uber driver gives me drugs, I'm giving them a five-star. No.
Starting point is 00:53:45 And it's like, yeah, we got water bottles, gum, drugs, if you want any. No specific type. No specific. Just a, we've got. Oh, and a charger for any type of phone. Ooh, it's like a weed gummy so I can play that trivia on the screen that Uber sometimes have. Did you know? No, that's not trivia.
Starting point is 00:54:07 Those are fun facts. Hey there, it's me, Michael. And now that we're in season four, I'm adding more content to my Patreon. Not only can you hear the extended Yelp from Stranger segment with three more reviews. And not only can you get an exclusive full episode covering an extra chain restaurant on the last day of each month, but I've added an extra chat with my guests where we discussed their go-to fast food and chain restaurants and talk about why they love them so much. I hope you'll come check it out, and you can get your first week completely free of charge. That's patreon.com slash fine dining podcast.
Starting point is 00:54:44 I appreciate and love you all. Back to the episode. All right. Well, we've heard what other people have to say. We've heard what we have to say. Miranda, this is your first time on the fine dining podcast. You are not as calibrated as I am. But luckily, we have a system for that.
Starting point is 00:55:01 We're going to hear you talk about your zero in 10 to figure out what the far ends of your spectrum are. as we jump into the Calibration Station. All right, Maranda, station comparing this meal to the best or the worst. Calibration station, chugga, chugga, chugga, chugga, choo-choo-choo-choo. All right, Miranda, your worst dining experience at a restaurant, your best, uh, whichever one you want to start with, the floor is yours.
Starting point is 00:55:31 My best dining experience was at, uh, uh, it was at Narcuzis, which is a restaurant at sounds so made up. It's, uh, listen, let me keep going and it's, uh, it gets worse.
Starting point is 00:55:45 Because it is a table service restaurant at the grand Floridian hotel at, uh, Disney World. It's like a seafood and steak forward restaurant that is right on the water, uh, where you can watch like the fireworks and stuff and it's like a nicer restaurant without being like,
Starting point is 00:55:59 when where it takes like months for you to like get a reservation and so much. It was so good. They have a lobster bisque there. which the presentation is in the bowl that they bring out is that they have the lobster meat already there and then pieces of like coral like edible coral like a light thing and then very lightly like vanilla cream
Starting point is 00:56:19 which is almost just like a butter as opposed to being like very like sweet and then separately your waiter who the waiter I had was named CJ and I know this because he did like a jungle cruise skipper almost like presentation of like and I present your lobster bis but just like the presentation and the showmanship and also just it was the best lobster bisque I've ever had in my life. The showmanship is just saying and now I present you your lobster bisque.
Starting point is 00:56:48 I don't know if you've noticed what I've described in the bowl, not soup, just the other accoutrements. Yeah. And then they pour like the separate soup into it. Oh, okay. To like top it off. So it's like if they served you ramen without the broth and then made a ceremony of brothing it. Yes. I see.
Starting point is 00:57:04 But it was so good. And then they have this like, like, almond cheesecake with like a cherry, like top on it. And I love like a fruity, creamy dessert. And I love cheesecake. And it was like one of the best desserts I've ever had. And so just so many. And then like I got like like scallops for my entree, which were so good. I love fish.
Starting point is 00:57:23 I love seafood so much. And it was just so good. And like they pipe the music in for like the like fireworks and like the water pageant, like all these different things. So you're like getting to watch all these things. And it's like right near Magic. And it's just like, it's so magical without being like, you're like fully in like Disney. And it's just, it was a great experience. It was like I loved it so much.
Starting point is 00:57:45 Amazing. And then you're zero. My zero is my experience at a local restaurant in Providence, Rhode Island. I'll call them out. Malted barley is a like pretzel restaurant. Like they focus on like like large like, you know, those like big. Yeah, hot pretzels. And they'll do like, they have like their separate pretzels.
Starting point is 00:58:04 And then they do like pretzel sandwich. where they have like, instead of like a bun, it is like a pretzel. Okay. Not pretzel bread, but it's like pretzel. They sat me down. It took like 45 minutes like to an hour for me to get like actual service. I like it was so. It makes me go nuts.
Starting point is 00:58:23 It was so long because like I have like I have like, I have like so I have like back issues. I have like various like health things where I can't be sitting in like the same position for a long time. So this was like somewhere. that truly drove me to physical pain because of how much I was waiting. And I was like, I need to eat something before I go do this thing. So I can't just like give up. Like I got to stick around. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:58:50 And also their bar trivia was so hard for no reason. Like me and my friend went to their bar trivia once. Listen, I love bar trivia and I am a trivia fiend. Like I've gone to trivia nights where it's been like mobile teams and are all like fully stacked and I've beaten like. every team as like a solo person. So I love trivia. It's so much. It's honestly a fault sometimes.
Starting point is 00:59:12 But if I'm going to bar trivia, yes, I want the trivia to be hard, but I don't want to feel like I'm taking a standardized test. Yeah. Let us have fun. All right. Well, somewhere between a restaurant that made you feel like they hated you and CJ pouring lobster bisque directly into your mouth lies our meal at Fat Burger.
Starting point is 00:59:33 So we got to score it as we put it. to The Chili's Test. So this was one of the best or will it fast or will it fail? Is it the worst? Is it the best? Let's put it to the Chili's test. So this was one of the best experiences I've ever had at Fat Burger in terms of just all the food was hitting. You know, the fries, I'm sure I would have liked a lot more if I had had them warm.
Starting point is 00:59:59 So that one's barely even a knock against to them. I thought they performed really strong. they were really consistent across all the burgers. The shake, so tasty. Service, nice. Music loved so much about this. It was just a positive thing to where I think this escaped the orbit of good. And I would say this is a great fast casual restaurant.
Starting point is 01:00:27 So my score for Fat Burger is a 7.91. Yeah, I thought this was a great fast-hood experience. I thought there did not feel the need to be like rushed out. We were able to like take our time and just hang, which is always a plus, always a vibe. None of the food was bad or like mediocre in my opinion. I liked all of it. Those onion rings I'll be thinking about always. So good.
Starting point is 01:00:51 Yeah. This experience made me like put Fatburger in like the forefront of my mind again because it usually is like, oh, I guess I'll do Fatburger. But it's like, oh, no, fat burger is now like a maybe not my first choice, but it's like up there. Like this is going to join the rotation. Mm-hmm. Exactly. Yeah. The only thing I really had like any sort of like negative feelings about was just like the amount of sauce on a burger, which if that is your one complaint, like, you're doing good. Very customizable. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:01:15 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Right on the barbecue. Light on the Thousand Island. Exactly. Yeah. And so my final score was an 8.17. Okay. 8.17. When you put that together with my score, Fatburger is going up on the Chotchki of Mediocrity at an 8.0.0.
Starting point is 01:01:35 04. Ooh. Is that tied with portillo? That is tied with portillos, which you scored it higher than I would have because I would definitely pick portillo's over this. But as an average, I'm fine with it being up there. I did think this was a great place. So I'm not mad about it.
Starting point is 01:01:57 But that does mean that Fatburger is officially and decisively better than. Chili's. Better than the chilies. Next week, we'll be airing the semifinals and finals to wrap up the tournament. But after that, I will be
Starting point is 01:02:19 back into my normal rotation of just restaurants. They don't have to be burger places. So I am going to turn to the you must bowl hidden here behind the belt. And I'm going to reach in. And I'm going to figure out where I'm
Starting point is 01:02:35 going to go in two weeks. Next week for the fine dining, nope, in two weeks for the fine dining podcast, I will be going to. Wiener Schnitzel. Wienershnitzel. That'll be a fun one. I could, oh, I could call it Dogtober. Dogtober is good. Yeah, now you just have like nine hot dogs in October.
Starting point is 01:03:02 That's all the like on your eyes. Wood. No. it's the opposite. It's the opposite. I feel safe around hot dogs. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Great.
Starting point is 01:03:13 So that'll be in two weeks, next week, semifinals and finals. Miranda, thanks so much for joining me for this. Tell people where they can follow you on socials. Yeah, you can follow me on Instagram
