Starting point is 00:00:32 Not me. It's like Chiefs, Chargers, like, all right, you beat up on a winless team. Patriots, Jets, like, that's the Jets, Ravens Browns. I told you, all right? I got him. Good job. You want me to make fun of him? No, I don't want you to make fun of him.
Starting point is 00:00:51 He says, I'm truly doing you have a powwow. I did. He was getting off. He's not free. That's not what happened. I said the audience is going to. really think we've tried to hide for years how much Wilds dislikes me. And we've done a great job. Excellent.
Starting point is 00:01:09 But the fact that he only ever gets mad at me on the air is revealing the crap. I think people really think you don't like Nick. Yeah, with reason. I know. With good reason. I don't want to go to your house for 10 hours. First hour. First thing's first.
Starting point is 00:01:26 Today, Rams lose to the Cardinals. Is it time to panic in L.A.? In L.A. Meanwhile, Mahomes ties, Tom Brady, chiefs are undefeated. How impressive was this win? And what's going on with the Chargers? Are we firing people? You got to fire people.
Starting point is 00:01:42 Somebody's got to go. It's a by week, too. You got to fire people. And finally, new Josh Allen highlight unlocked. Bills set a record, but is it a good one? Yeah. I say no. Okay.
Starting point is 00:01:58 I found, you know what, speaking? They're still not making the playoffs. Speaking of secret powwows, I cut you out of our group text chain and had a rare one-on-one text to brew this weekend of an old clip of yours. Oh, yeah. That's right. You going through the bills for six games saying they're going to be two or four. It's not my fault. The Chargers are that bad. We had a great laugh. Really?
Starting point is 00:02:23 Yeah. You had them going two and four and then you broke out your calendar. And you were like four days. Had that happened yet? When that happens, that's when the tide turns. We had a great laughing. Except you had him going to. Just for the record before he started the show.
Starting point is 00:02:37 Bruce just sending memes now to us. I know at 12.30 in the morning, that was hilarious. I just had this share. I had to share. I'm getting a text at 12.30 in the morning. My wife rolls over. Who's texting you?
Starting point is 00:02:51 I'm like, Brew is sending an Instagram? You thought it was hilarious. Check this out. I'm like, okay. It was. Chris Bucson, Kevin Wilde. We're starting in Dallas. Cowboys lose by 10 felt like more.
Starting point is 00:03:05 Self-reclaimed greatest offense there is scored 13. And this was after Bruy their mini-buy post-Bucs lost last Thursday. Dallas now 2 and 4. Here's Coach Schottenheimer. The effort is right. The fight is right. But mistakes are killing us.
Starting point is 00:03:24 You know, repeating mistakes is not what we're about. We got to clean it up. lost two games in a row, haven't played well, and I've got to take a hard look at it. That starts with me. All right, Brew. Professor Brew, what grade are you giving the Cowboys for that performance? Well, I will get to the grade while, and like the Cowboys play, it won't be pretty. All right, but first, let me say a few things.
Starting point is 00:03:51 Excellent. For the second straight week, the Cowboys have left me floored. All right. I thought last week after that abysmal loss to Tampa Bay and Jalen Daniels. And for the record, Jalen Daniels looks every bit like the undrafted rookie free agent he is playing other teams. Yes. Gets the Cowboys look like a pro bowler. 110 pass a rate and a touchdown.
Starting point is 00:04:21 He's played two other games or started two other games against other teams. He has four interceptions. and eight sacks. That's how bad the Cowboys defense is. But I thought that was rock bottom. And then this. Against a team that gave up 39 points to Carson Wentz. They gave up 35 points to Michael Pennix Jr.,
Starting point is 00:04:48 who's come back to Earth. Well, he got hurt. But then he came back to Earth. All right, he is what he is. All right. In fact, genome. Smith and yes Jalen Daniels managed
Starting point is 00:05:01 more points against the Packers than the greatest offense there is. 13 points is the lowest output that the Packers have allowed this year. All right? So this offense, that was just atroces and I know a lot of people are saying but but you know
Starting point is 00:05:19 the defense finally showed up and then the offense fell apart. What's going on? Stop it. If it wasn't for three drops, three huge drops, two of them, which would have been touchdowns, the Packers could have easily gotten 35 to 40 points in this game. So the defense, oh, they showed a little something.
Starting point is 00:05:41 I mean, the bar was incredibly, right. They were a little better, but not really good. All right. So look, DAC apparently is fond of acronyms. Gangster acronyms, Goddy, John Godd. Oh, so I came up with a little son. Oh, do we have another cross-tick coming? Oh, it's like the mafia.
Starting point is 00:06:01 This one is Capone. Oh, wow. And this is, look, let me say something before you put them up. Before you put them up, this is actually hope for you Cowboys fans. This is what you can hang your hat on after the losses keep mounting. All right, because you can approach the playoffs. only in the NFC East. Thank God for the NFC each,
Starting point is 00:06:36 which is only slightly better than the Big 12th. All right, I mean, the hope is still there. You might win, you might get in the playoffs with a 7 and 10 record in this division. Yes, pretty good, yeah. All right, so let me get to the grade. Thank you. The grade is a G
Starting point is 00:06:52 because that performance was grotesque. Oh. It was gruesome, it was grisly, and it left me saying, You gotie! Be kidding me! No, Goddy, no more. Yeah, the cowboys are two and four. No, gotie, no more.
Starting point is 00:07:19 They were Super Bowl or bust. No, gotie, no more. Now they lost all Bruce Trust. No, Godi, no more I had back for the MVP No, gotie, no more More like Dak, I and T No, gotie, no more
Starting point is 00:07:39 It was gruesome, grotesque, grisly gray vest Goda, you got to be kidding me, It was a G game, G game, G game, Che game, G game. G game. G game. Boodoo-doo-oo-doo. We exist so that they can come up.
Starting point is 00:08:00 I know. That was the first time I heard. That was awesome. That was excellent. That might be, that's one of your best. Your turn. It's a little hard act to follow, literally. They're now 1 and 11 under Brian Schottenheimer when they don't score 30 points.
Starting point is 00:08:16 What? That's wild. They're 1 and 11 under Brian Schottenheimer when they don't score 30 points. They have one way to win and one way to win. only and right now in the last couple weeks the offense isn't holding up their end. The offense has been less scrutinized
Starting point is 00:08:34 understandably because the defense has been so bad, but the offense is where the money is. The offense is where the stars are. The offense is the side of the ball that was before the year talking about not being a good offense, not being a great offense, but being the greatest
Starting point is 00:08:49 offense in the league this year. And for a few weeks, we showed that point. Yeah, we showed that point. per drive stat. It was really, they were on pace for it. But now, if you put up their offense and defense on one, you know, to look at it, what you have is the recipe for an awful team. Because you have a terrible defense and a middling offense.
Starting point is 00:09:13 And that ain't going to work in Dallas. You can't have a middling offense with this defense that they haven't been able to get right in years. And where I will hold DAC accountable. is they had a brutal week one. But in the next three weeks, they have two good wins, plus they play a Ravens team
Starting point is 00:09:34 that at full strength, we think is a tier one contender. And that's a coin flip end of the game, bad end of game situational play, but overall quality in that game. It's like, okay, Cowboys are two and two easily could be three and one, bad week one, throw it out.
Starting point is 00:09:51 And since then, Dak Prescott has played some of the worst ball we've seen him play in a couple years. The team is scoring less than 15 a game. DAC has double the interceptions to touchdowns. Last night, it felt like every play he's just retreating and hoping and passing. The passer rating 67. And so he's not, to be clear,
Starting point is 00:10:18 Dak is not anywhere close to the biggest problem on the Cowboys. They can't run the ball. The defense has been bad. I don't think shot and Iber's done a great job No. They aren't getting the dual threat receiver production we thought they would get. It has been like you guys said last week more of an either
Starting point is 00:10:34 or game for those guys. So DAC isn't the biggest part of the problem. But DAC is supposed to be a bigger solution than he's been the last couple weeks and if you're going to lose to the Packers, you're supposed to lose 31 to 28.
Starting point is 00:10:51 Right. You're like you're a and that it's okay. it's last year all over again. That hasn't been the case. And I, before you just quickly, KW, and I want to be on the record. I don't care if you can win an awful division. That is not to me like a,
Starting point is 00:11:10 the only way that to saving grace is if because you have an awful division, you can get into the playoffs just in time to get your franchise quarterback back from a three-month injury. You know what I mean? Then it's like, okay. Like a little bit.
Starting point is 00:11:24 Right. Then it's like, oh, well, maybe there'll be a different team. But if you get into the playoffs because you have just been an eight win caliber team all year, but you happen to get lucky on what division you're in, you're not any, you're not a real threat. You're not, there's nothing there that I'm going to be super excited about, especially for a team that went as all in as they could go going into this year. And two weeks ago traded a premium draft pick for a. corner. Thought they were a player away two weeks ago, KW.
Starting point is 00:11:58 Cowboys have at Philadelphia, home against the Cardinals, at Colts, 49ers. It's an easy next three. Titans and then Eagles. Like, as much as we say, they can't run the ball. That's the problem. Coach is going to go crazy. They've ran 48, 50, 75 yards. They want, you look at that on paper and you think, wow, they should win all those games except the Niners. They won't. No, they won't. They won't. On the other side of the ball, the Packers have straightened out their season, their four and two. Jordan Love, now on MVP, combos. And this defense has had a stunning
Starting point is 00:12:29 turnaround from 30 points to 11 last three games, two takeaways to nine. And they're giving up 65 fewer yards per game. How dangerous, Nick, are the Packers? Very. I'm now taking them very seriously. I had them missing the playoffs before the year. How they looked the first few weeks was not that surprising to me.
Starting point is 00:12:50 But the way Jordan Love is playing is to me just file it away in your brain for the next quarterback folks want to make excuses for when it's like, well, the offensive line. That's a good point. They can't run the ball. They don't have an awful. What could anyone
Starting point is 00:13:07 possibly do? The answer is earn your $50 million. And it doesn't mean you have to win every week, doesn't mean you have to play great every week, but this idea that guys are just absolute passengers to their own demise. Jordan Love hasn't been. Jordan Love has been like, oh,
Starting point is 00:13:23 There's one thing on offense we can do well. Let me try to be great at it. We're going to chuck this sucker down the field. We're not going to have slow plotting drives. We've spent resources on wide receivers. I think Matthew Golden, I'm Jordan Love in this scenario, can be a real star. Watson's hamstrings healthy, so he's fast. Let's chuck this sucker downfield to see what we can do.
Starting point is 00:13:48 You then add to it that all of a sudden, Jonathan Gannon has taken that defense without Micah, and you showed it, but I want to show the last three weeks during this winning streak where they are in the league. The last three weeks, they're the number one scoring defense. They force the most takeaways. They're hitting the quarterback. They're stopping the opponents passing. They're doing a great job.
Starting point is 00:14:13 Yeah. So. Now, that is two backups and DAC. Yes. But it didn't get out. Right. Yeah. Good job against that.
Starting point is 00:14:19 And it, but here's the thing. I don't think, as President Lincoln Conx is the past. have the best events in football. But they're showing now they can make, they can tread water, more than tread water defensively, depending on the competition, until Micah gets back. And then we talked last week, how much impact would Micah have this year? Even if Micah's not able to be full-blown Micah,
Starting point is 00:14:43 if he doesn't have to pick up the league's worst defense, if it's a defense that Jonathan Gannon was a good D-coordinator in Philly. They got to a Super Bowl. the Cardinals team, he wasn't a great head coach, but he was running the defense, which some people liked. And now he's there. Like, I look at the Packers to me, the team that I had is a very clear third in that division,
Starting point is 00:15:06 as right now maybe the most trustworthy team in that division. It feels, as I say it, I feel a little prisoner of the moment. They're more complete, though. But they do feel, I think their defense has more upside than the Bears. I think the Lions defense, I think, has no answers. And the Vikings problem is all on the other side of the ball. So, like, I can see the path for Green Bay, a team that I was skeptical of going into the year. No, I agree.
Starting point is 00:15:32 I think they're a legitimate threat to win that division. And, you know, if Micah comes back close to what he typically is, then they got a shot to do something in the playoffs. So I'm with you. I didn't pick them to make the playoffs either. And Jordan Love, I don't know. MVP conference, and let's be honest, there's really two people right now,
Starting point is 00:15:52 Brock Purdy and Kenneth Walker, and then you got guys vying for a spot on the ballot. But he might be, yeah, he's vying maybe for spot in the ballot. Yeah, and it's early. But he, last few weeks, he has been phenomenal. In fact, his numbers, 276 yards, I think it was,
Starting point is 00:16:08 could have been 350, again, but not for the drops. So he has been great. And they have had, they have the worst running game in the league. Not one of the work. They average two and a half yards of carry. All right, they average 60 yards a game.
Starting point is 00:16:23 But guess who's coming back? Josh Jacobs. Now, I don't know. Hopefully he's in great shape and he's ready to get right back. But he could be playing next week and he is a legitimate Pro Bowl running back. So if he can help him out offensively, that's just going to open up things more for J-Lo. And then the defense, yeah, Micah, when he gets back, I don't know, three, four weeks it could be. But if they can just keep kind of hanging in there and he gets back,
Starting point is 00:16:52 they're an absolute threat to win that division. They've got the Lions next. Meanwhile, the Rams are a super team that just keeps losing. They score 16 points, lose to the Cardinals who kicked six field goals. They're also now two and four. Last place in the NFC at West. Yes, below the Cardinals. Here's Sean McVeigh.
Starting point is 00:17:14 We have to be able to go back to the drawing board and figure out how we improve because like I just told you guys, you know, we have to be able to not beat ourselves before we figure out how to even come away with some of the results. And it's not even good enough. And I got to do a much better job. And clearly that, you know, today is, you know,
Starting point is 00:17:30 there's nothing positive that I can say about today. You know, I do love the group. I appreciate the way that they continue to battle. Panic time for the Rams. Yeah. Because that wasn't a fluke loss. Mm-mm. It wasn't.
Starting point is 00:17:47 They didn't have like get crazy unlucky on special teams. Now their kicker did get hurt, but they, you know, they weren't missing a bunch of kicks. They didn't, the turnover battle was not crazy. You know, Stafford threw no interceptions. Jacoby threw one. The Rams lost one fumble. So the turnovers were even. And honestly, they were very fortunate to have a chance to seal it at the end because the Cardinals kept kicking field goals.
Starting point is 00:18:14 Right. I was probably more dialed into this game. than most because I had massive, I wanted the Rams to lose for my incredibly lucrative survivor proposition that keeps growing that KW and I talked about this morning. And I was watching the game and just the Rams didn't have answers on either side of the ball. The Cardinals defense, who has been dreadful, dreadful this year the Cardinals' defense has been, held the Rams 16 points. And I will hammer home one other important point.
Starting point is 00:18:53 Sean McVeigh, at the end of that game, man, the NFL has changed just since Sean McVeigh's been a head coach. Having a lead of less than a field goal inside of a minute is a very perilous spot. With the new kickoff rules combined with how good kickers are, it is a perilous spot. And the way they, I know they scored a touchdown and took a lead. So like that's in theory good. But I didn't feel like Sean McVeigh pressed all the
Starting point is 00:19:22 buttons he could have to try to make sure. Was the goal there flatly to get the lead? Because the goal there flatly needed to be to win the game. And when they scored with 44 seconds, I was watching the game with my 13 year old daughter who knows about my survivor propositions. And she was like, and she was like, oh, I'm sorry, Daddy. I was like, oh, they're fine. I was like, I was like they're down one going to. I didn't think like, oh, the Cardinals are definitely going to win, but I didn't feel devastated at all when the Rams could have easily because the Cardinals had no timeouts left, wound more clock.
Starting point is 00:19:58 Now it's a risky thing. I know you want to get the score, you got a score, but you have Matt Stafford. You have Kyron Williams. You have Blake Coram. You have Puka. I know Devante's out at that point. You should. And so I just think the Rams, they're not the team they were advertised to be on either side of
Starting point is 00:20:14 the ball or in the coaching booth right now. And that's a huge problem. No, they, they've got several issues because the big names aren't living up to the billing. Matthew Stafford is not playing badly, but he's not playing great. He's not playing close to what he did last year. So he's been. I mean, there's his numbers, bro. Yeah. He's been an average quarterback issue. All right, you know. A lot of yards, but the touchdown interception is not good. Well, and that's the other thing. The yard, like, he's thrown more. passes than any quarterback in the league. And they have a good running.
Starting point is 00:20:46 Tyron Williams only has 80 carries, which for a guy, he's averaging five yards of carry. He wants more, too. I don't know if you saw his quote after the game. Like, why is the offense struggling? He's like, maybe because I'm not out there. Like, he wants more touches. And that, they are predictable right now.
Starting point is 00:21:02 And that goes to McVeigh. McVeigh is not living up to his billing as a great coach. The offense is predictable. They're throwing it all the time. We know that. Even though you have a good run game. The special teams are on him. I mean, that's on you as the head coach because you haven't put the emphasis on your special teams to be better.
Starting point is 00:21:21 And then Aaron Donald, understandably, I mean, he's been retired for two years, but he hasn't made the impact that we thought. Zero sacks, two tackles for losses. Yeah, a little flash here and there. And so that's a big part of their problem. And I'm going to say this, because all three of those guys I just mentioned outside of Kyron Williams, Stafford, McVeigh, Donald. Donald did retire.
Starting point is 00:21:48 Stafford and McVeigh have entertained it over the last few years. Are they, they came back. I'm not saying they don't love it and they want to do it. But this sport and all the professional sports, the difference between great and good or winning and losing is this. These are all world class coaches and athletes. Interesting too. If there's just a little bit of you that's not as sold out,
Starting point is 00:22:12 as you were, then that can be the difference. But that, brew, to add to that point, that's one of the reasons I'm concerned. Not because, I think those guys were all in going into this year. Well, they might have thought it was going to be easy. Or more fun. Definitely more fun. Aaron Donald basically said it.
Starting point is 00:22:32 Yeah, that's why I do. Like, oh, Miles Garrett's here. And so I do wonder if you thought going into the year, this is our right. off into the sunset. Listen, I'm sure, listen, I'm sure they're smart pro athletes or coaches, and they know how tough the NFL is. I'm sure they
Starting point is 00:22:50 weren't like, and we're definitely winning the Super Bowl. But we're going to be really good all year. We're going to have, we're going to be a top tier contender. Come January, you know, we're going to be at home with the if we make the Super Bowl in our building,
Starting point is 00:23:06 all of it's going to be as well set up as possible. And then they haven't had one day of good feelings. Not one day. The season started all off season. You trade for Miles Garrett. He's in and out of practice dealing with a knee.
Starting point is 00:23:24 Puka has a suspension hanging over him that doesn't end up happening. You go to Australia. You get clocked. Next day, Miles Garrett's on the IR. And you're fighting for your life since then. You have the great game against the Giants in the game where Dart got hurt. Right. That was more of just like, well, no dart.
Starting point is 00:23:45 Yeah. And so, and other than that, there's not a game they've looked great in. Even the Eagles win. They didn't even look great in that Giants game. No, but, I mean, at least they pull him out. The Eagles win it was. That's why McVeigh had that relief. Like, this has not been fun for any of them.
Starting point is 00:24:02 And I, the energy boost they're supposed to get is defensive player of the year Miles Garrett coming back. First of all, we've got to see what he looks like when he comes back. second of all, I'm really curious how all of this is landing on Miles Garrett's desk. He's like, you've got to be kidding me. There has to be, even if you are
Starting point is 00:24:21 as talented, successful, rich, famous, all those things, Miles Garrett. A bit of a, I don't want to say, whoa, was me, but like, really? I went from Cleveland to the Rams and Cleveland's now four and two and the Rams are
Starting point is 00:24:37 two and four. I'm once again playing for a last place team? You've got to be kidding me. And so I am, we didn't get any answer on Devante's injury. No. The reporters, I think, were a little flustered by the game.
Starting point is 00:24:54 They didn't ask McVeigh about it. I don't love how that looks at all. I don't know a doctor, but that's bad. They're just non-connor. And, you know, everyone's worried about Kenneth Walker's usage. Pooka Nakua's getting used like a rented car. And so I just, yes, I mean, I am very. I am very concerned.
Starting point is 00:25:13 And when you add how good the teams in the NFC North look and the fact that I think Seattle is better positioned than them, even though they're coming off a loss, I am concerned for the range. They're in Vegas next. Ravens blow another double-digit leads. It's not Lamar's fault, not Harbaugh's fault. Is it Bruce's fault?
Starting point is 00:25:32 We'll discuss next on FS1 Fox Sports Channel on Sirius X-F. You're the only constant. I am. You're your market. Welcome back to first things first news this morning. Jalen Hertz out for the year after blood clots were found in his lungs. The Eagles and Hertz's agent Nicole Lynn released a statement today saying that Hertz will go on blood thinners and they do expect a full recovering. Here's the quote that Nicole Lynn and the Eagles jointly released.
Starting point is 00:26:03 Jalen will remain active around the team and continue to condition. More importantly, we anticipate that he will have no longer. term effects. We are thinking of Jalen and looking forward to a strong recovery. There were some reports that he had been up for 36 hours. Now those reports are kind of being walked back saying that he did get some sleep. But the reporting hours leading into the London game. And then he played. Reporting around this has been a bit of a moving target with reaction to the news. So listen, first reaction is this is an incredibly scary non, I understand that they believe the clot initially was caused by getting pleaded in the leg, which can happen sometimes.
Starting point is 00:26:42 You get a leg injury and it can cause a clot that then can move. But this is not, what he is dealing with now is not, you know, a football injury. It's a real, what I consider a real life injury and concern. It is really wonderful that they caught it, that he's getting treatment for it, like blood clots in your lungs are a serious, scary thing. You hear the term pulmonary embolism. That's what that is and that can kill people. And so it is very thankful that Jalen's, you know, getting the
Starting point is 00:27:14 treatment and hopefully it's a one-off thing because he got cleated in the leg and by next season he has no recurrence, he's able to resume his career. That's not a guarantee because if they come back, you have to stay on blood thinners. That's what happened to Chris Bosch. It doesn't seem like that's their highest concern.
Starting point is 00:27:30 Like, they don't think that's going to happen and so hopefully this is, you know, a one-off instance. With that said, my reaction is, and you know, we do the sports media on Budsman, you know, because people like it as a little dessert on the Bud list, but also because reporting is important. And from the very beginning, this story didn't feel right. The Eagles first statement, when they remember, we talked about it. They were like, let us explain to you everything about what happened. here in full detail and why everything's fine and above board.
Starting point is 00:28:11 And why Jalen Hertz, who either got no sleep or little sleep or some sleep, had a blood clot discovered before a football game, then had some sleep regimen adjusted in the 36 hours leading up to the football game, but was not on the injury report for said football game with any designation, felt fishy. And then the whirlwind of the last 48 hours of what is actually happening. here. Saturday morning, America's number one football reporter. More about the Eagles not planning to place Jalen Hertz on injured reserve. And graph two of that story is there have been no discussions to put him on it, just on
Starting point is 00:28:53 injured reserve. That's Saturday morning and the picture chosen is Jalen Hertz playing football. A few hours later, breaking after consultation with numerous doctors and experts that want, that went into Saturday, the Eagles are placing quarterback Jalen Hertz on injured reserve. Jalen Hertz now no longer in an action photo. And then Monday, today, actually forget all of that. He's done for the year. I, it felt to me, coach, like that initial report came from the team.
Starting point is 00:29:29 And since then, Jalen and his camp have wrestled more control over this, which makes me curious what was going on the Eagles and the team doctors versus Jalen Hertz. But what we seem to know is they found a blood clot. They deemed it not risky enough for him to play, to not play, but risky enough for him to be on a regular sleep regiment. Then they ruled him out for this week.
Starting point is 00:29:54 Then they weren't going to put him on IR. Then they did put him on IR. And now he's done for the year and for the next few months. None of that to me passes the logic test on how this flow should have gone. It's hard to say because as you go through the process, you have to trust the doctors. And you have team doctors and they evaluate the players. And remember, the team wants the player to play and the players want to play as well. So everybody's trying to figure out, okay, how serious is this injury?
Starting point is 00:30:26 And when he went through the initial evaluation, it sounded like they felt that he was able to play. And I don't understand the sleep component of it because that part really doesn't make sense. to say, hey, you need to stay up. Right. But you're going to stay up 36. That doesn't add up. Stay up 36 hours and then playing an NFL game. So there's got to be some things wrong about that.
Starting point is 00:30:50 And then afterwards, I'm sure Jaylen Pry, like you do with any doctor, you're going to get a second opinion, especially if it's something that could not only affect your career, but affect your life. Right. And when you get different opinions, you have to weigh which one. you're going to go with, and I'm sure for Jalen, it was more about, hey, I need to make sure this is 100% correct, not take any chances because this is more serious than just playing football. This is about, you know.
Starting point is 00:31:18 I'd go to you, Brew, but I would want to know if a doctor unrelated to the Philadelphia Eagles after that game, if he said to him, hey, by the way, so this is what's going on here, the scans, about to hop on an eight-hour flight. How's that sound? And they need to get it checked out more in Philly. if a doctor unrelated to the NFL entirely would have been like, yeah, I don't, you should probably not do that. And how much that.
Starting point is 00:31:44 You think the flight could have expected the clot. I don't, I mean, I, listen, again, I do not pretend to be an expert on this. But I think just passively, all of us know that if you are at risk of a blood clot, or even if you're not at risk of a blood clot, flying can exacerbate those problems. It's why they give me those fancy socks I put on when I take my shoes off on the plane. Yes. And so, like,
Starting point is 00:32:07 and so, I mean, it's given out to you. So, like, that just doesn't, all of this, I feel badly for jailing. It feels like he was not,
Starting point is 00:32:18 he was, I don't want to say he was let us stray, but it feels like this is not how this was supposed to go. Yeah, and it, look,
Starting point is 00:32:24 it is, I don't know what's going on with the reporting and obviously the inside story. It's possible that over hours, the story does change. Oh, wow. We found this.
Starting point is 00:32:36 We didn't know, you know what I mean? So it's possible that the reporting was on all above board. But just from a football standpoint, obviously it goes without saying we all just pray for Jalen and his family that he's okay and able to get back 100%. The Eagles season is over. And look, they're two and four just like the Cowboys. That division is horrible.
Starting point is 00:32:58 Sure. Could they have a shot in that division? Maybe they shouldn't even think about that. Like I think for the Cowboys, try to win the division as bad as you may be and the division may be and you know, you probably get stomped in the playoffs. But try to do it. Eagles, I think they should be looking at the future now. For them winning the division, making the playoffs, getting beaten the playoffs is not a big deal. They got Super Bowl aspirations because that's what they've done before recently.
Starting point is 00:33:27 And so I do think it should be a fire sale for their veterans. Sequin and the rest of these guys. You got to start like, let's get ready for the future. We had a nice run. It's over. And I don't know what the future with Jalen's there. I don't mean him being healthy. I mean when he is healthy,
Starting point is 00:33:48 will he stay there because there's no guarantee money left on his deal? Will he end up somewhere else? He's a winner. He's the one thing I know in that organization. And they should know he's a winner. He's not, doesn't throw it like Joe Burrow and all that. But he is a guy that can win for us, and he's just proven that year after year. So I would want to keep him and build around him.
Starting point is 00:34:09 But I think, Coach, it should be fire sale time. I mean, you can say that, but there's a lot of people's livelihoods at stake here. And you can say the winning and losing doesn't matter, but it's going to matter to their career and whether they stay there and all those other players that are still there wanting to win games. You're going to tell them, hey, we're going to try to lose. No, no, no, no. I'm just saying you just trade some if you can for a few. future draft picks for younger players.
Starting point is 00:34:34 But you try to win. You go out there and you play your best. That's the GM's job. The GM's job is to look ahead. I agree. You don't, don't. I'm not saying the NFL. Like they do it in basketball.
Starting point is 00:34:47 Like, it's different in the NFL. No, but the Jets did it last year, and I bet they're glad they did. Now, like the Jets traded their two best players on defense. Sauce and Quinn and Williams got real draft capital and are trying to start a rebuild. Like, and you would Like, so I just... Jeffrey Lorry just heard you refer to the Eagles as the Jets.
Starting point is 00:35:07 Yeah, and I'm sure all the season ticket holders who bought tickets are going to be like, oh, yeah, that's a great idea. Go ahead. I want to go watch those games. I mean, they're in a division that's infinitely winnable. That bill is coming. Nick's talked ad nauseum about the financial things they're going to face it.
Starting point is 00:35:24 I totally get it. I'm just saying that as long as ownership ultimately is going to make that decision, whether or not he wants to go that direction. But this is a division that is still winnable, even with all the problems that they have. Siriani lost four in a row for the first time in his tenure with the
Starting point is 00:35:41 Eagle. He's falling off some of those Madden graphics here pretty soon. Just barely. All right, head to Cleveland, where Lamar was on the sidelines. Ravens were in the lost column. Ravens lose on a last second field goal drops them to third place in the AFC North. Derek Henry only ran for 58 yards, lost
Starting point is 00:35:57 to fumble bro. Here is his take. on the fumble. I got to take care of the ball. I mean, there's no excuses for that. I got to be better. Put the team's in harm's way. It's not like a broken record with this. But I've got to go back and work on it.
Starting point is 00:36:12 Told the team put this one on me. And I just got to be better. I can't put the team in that situation. Brewer, are you concerned? No robe, no sandwiches, nothing here. Look, the first thing that comes to your mind is last year when Derek Henry had to fumble against Buffalo. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:27 They lost the game. they should have won, obviously, the rest of the season just goes by the wayside. I'm not worried about that here, obviously. I think if Lamar Jackson is playing, they win this game because they only score 10 points. All right? Those AFC North games are tough, right? Cleveland is improved, but they just couldn't score enough. Look, the Brown's offense isn't very good except for their late game drives or last, you know, winning
Starting point is 00:36:57 drives at the end of the game. but the defense held them to 13 points. Maybe that's some improvement. I have not been overly impressed with the Ravens. Now, I still think they're, to me, they're clearly the best team in that division. They're going to win that division. But I'm looking at Super Bowl, and I think they have a shot, but they haven't, they got a lot of improvement to do.
Starting point is 00:37:21 All right? And so, look, the defense, maybe that was a step in the right direction. When Lamar gets back offensively, they'll be fine. And this is a game they would have won with him. So, no. Yeah. It's about the details. Just about the detail.
Starting point is 00:37:34 So glad they got rid of that offensive coordinator. So happy they got rid of. The offense is fine when Lamar is there. Oh, okay. I bet you most people would have taken Snoop Huntley over Deshawn Watson. Yes. But they roll into Cleveland. Well, both of them, they played about exactly the same yesterday.
Starting point is 00:37:53 They got a pretty good running back, right? He's still pretty good, right? But Snoop don't throw it down field. Well, they detailed their way to 10 points. So, you know, it's just one of those things. When you talk and talk and talk and then you show up and the dude you got rid of hangs it on you. Oh, I didn't even think about it.
Starting point is 00:38:13 Oh, because Todd Munkin is the guy. Yeah, remember who he could. They weren't detailed enough. Well, the young young coach and O.C. Declan Doylein Doyle. They've been okay. Listen, in that game, it was funny. They were ready.
Starting point is 00:38:25 When they were rolling, I don't know if you saw. saw it coach. They put a tight end. They put a tight end at guard. That was a creative play. That was put a tight end at guard. He went and ran a route. That was the high watermark. Exactly right. People were like, oh, Declad Doyle's in his back. And they never scored again. So one of the reasons Brew is not rattled by the Ravens blowing a double digit second half lead to the Browns is because Brew is used to this type of loss. I didn't even realize. I forgot it was a double-gitly.
Starting point is 00:39:00 It was such a low-shoring affair. It was 10-0-0 at halftime since 2020. I don't know why this is the case, but this is the case. It's not a big coaching. Well, but they have a new coach. Oh, they've got a new. Even Lamar wasn't there. I don't know what it is.
Starting point is 00:39:20 I don't know. Maybe it's Kyle Hamilton's fault. I'm trying to find the comment. But isn't this just because they get out to more leads than everybody else? No, the Chiefs and the Bills aren't on there, the Rams aren't on there. The teams that are, those are the teams that are on there are, have either dealt with, those other three teams have either dealt with shaky coaching or shaky quarterback play. And then there's the Ravens who I think have had at least good coach and great quarterback throughout the time.
Starting point is 00:39:49 But here's why I am at least a touch concerned with the Baltimore Ravens who right now wouldn't be in the play. playoffs. This is the rest of the way teams, most games versus teams with a winning record right now. Poor dolphins. Yeah, the dolphins just getting clocked left and right. Nobody has more than Baltimore. So that concerns me. And their next three are Cincinnati, Buffalo, Jacksonville. Brew. That's not great, bro. Color. I hope Lamar is coming back.
Starting point is 00:40:24 Well, so that's what I was going to say. I know we got to go. I was the first to report via NFL insider translator that last week's report that Lamar is a realistic chance to play meant he was less than 50%. Mm-hmm. I'm not, he didn't even in a limited capacity practice last week. So I am not, while my gut, I would, if you know, even money bet, I would say he plays this week. But I'm not, I don't think it's anything close to 100%. And they showed you yesterday without him. anybody can beat them.
Starting point is 00:40:58 They're not beatings off. You're going to give the bronze a little bit of credit. Defensively, they were excellent. Well, they beat the Steelers. They beat the Steelers. They beat the Ravens. They beat Carolina. They're the best of that group in the division.
Starting point is 00:41:11 You think they're the best team in the division? I mean, if you just look at who their wins, the quality of the wins and the way that they played, they are right now. Dusty, I want to do something unconventional. Dusty, can you just repeat to me what you said into my ear so I can make sure I'm really. laying it correctly.
Starting point is 00:41:32 Okay, that's what I thought you said. But it sounds so silly. I didn't get it. Jesse Minter said Lamar is day-to-day and potentially mobile practice this week. I don't love that. Potentially will practice. They can't beat Buffalo and Jacksonville, you know,
Starting point is 00:41:48 barring some any given Sunday type thing without Lamar. I think they could beat Cincinnati without Lamar. The, we don't have time. We got to talk about the undefeated chiefs and do weird. Browns on a good defense. But the Lamar Jackson injury risk story is a growing story. Yes. His last year was wrecked by the injuries.
Starting point is 00:42:09 This year, he is an ankle sprain. He's playing all year last year. He missed two of the six games. I don't know. I'm not worried than you. He's playing great. He's playing great, but he's got to play. But I agree, the team has been up and down.
Starting point is 00:42:22 No question. He's playing great, but he's got to play. Okay. More things change, the more things stay the same. the Chiefs don't lose, charges don't win. Kenneth Walker can't be stopped. In the process, Mahomes ties Brady as the fastest quarterback to get to 100 wins. It took both of them 131 games.
Starting point is 00:42:40 That's amazing, the same. Here's Mahomes on tying Brady. My honest first reaction is like, they've said this from like 97 on. I'm like, when did Tom lose another game? Because I feel like every game I win, I tie him. And so, no, but in all seriousness, in all seriousness, It's always an honor to be in any conversation as far as winning football with him. That's the goat.
Starting point is 00:43:05 He knows how to win football better than anyone really in any other sport. Except for me, I'm also tied with him. We're actually tied now. What does that make me? All right. What did you make in the Chargers game specifically and a little Brady stuff? The, what the chief, yeah, listen, the Chiefs did every single thing you're supposed to do to lose a game. They missed an extra.
Starting point is 00:43:28 extra point. They missed a field goal. Patrick threw a terrible pick in the end zone. They then got stuffed at the one yard line. They forced to turn over and had it wiped away due to an egregious call. They fumbled a punt return. Someone got ejected too. Oh yeah, and we punched a guy. All of that happened. And they just won wire to wire in the easiest way imaginable because we are so back, boys.
Starting point is 00:43:56 back to boring domination. That's where we're at. It was. It was that. It is boring. It was. Listen, they could have scored 40 if they just didn't make so many dumb mistakes. Instead, if we put up the numbers, Dust, sorry, I know I was supposed to do this before I dropped the banner. Way to roll with me, Dust.
Starting point is 00:44:16 They just dominated in every phase of the game and finally got the sacks going. They didn't have any sacks since week one. And the biggest reason for that domination, aside of the fact that the Chargers are a broken, humbled, offensive operation. My goodness. Is because of Kenneth Walker. And here's Kenneth Walker's season so far. And, you know, keep in mind he's already had his buy. So he's played less games than most guys.
Starting point is 00:44:45 A few other guys have had their buy. But he's been the best running back in the league. And yet, despite that brew, here's you said something interesting. earlier. Like MVP's two-man race, Purdy and Kenneth Walker. Not according to everyone else, because Kenneth Walker is not in the top ten. He's tied for 15.
Starting point is 00:45:03 Do I have my glasses? He's tied for 15th. Oh, MacDoh. They're projecting it. Sorry. Drake, but so here's, so here's what I would say. Folks in our job all the time, they're like, well,
Starting point is 00:45:17 nothing we can do. MVP is just a quarterback award. As if the AI robots give it out. We give it out. The media votes on it. Not for long. So this is what right, but for now they do. So to which I say, be the change you want to see in the world. Vote Kenneth Walker, MVP. Yeah. You want it to not be a quarterback only award? Vote for the running back that has changed the entire power of both conferences. What's wrong with the Seahawks? Can't run the ball anymore. They're three and three.
Starting point is 00:45:49 What happened with the Chiefs? Mahomes is not playing. I think he's playing well, but he's not playing his peak standards, they're the best team in the conference. So they weren't even that good yesterday, and they won easily. That's what I made of it, Coach. He stole a lot of my thunder tonight. I knew it because you thought I was going to be all pro. Coach always. They go rain on your parade.
Starting point is 00:46:10 When I was looking through it and watching it, I thought, oh, my God, a pick in the end zone stopped on fourth and one from the goal line, then fumble the ensuing punt, get a guy thrown. It was a lot of bad against a really struggling, struggling team. And I did put in my notes definitely not a banner-worthy game. But somehow we got two banners to come down. We could have one more coming. And the sad thing for everybody in the AFC and the NFL is every week that they win
Starting point is 00:46:43 and Kenneth Walker continues to do what he does, that's another week that Patrick Mahomes gets healthier, moves around more. fluidly, all those young defensive players, they understand the system better, they start getting more comfortable, they continue to get better. So it's a real problem that this team is 5 and 0 winning games like they're winning games and the whole time continually making progress so that later in the season, when Patrick Mahomes needs to pop off in a big way, he's going to be, each week he gets closer to that. Yeah, I mean, to use your statement a few years, they look like they're practicing. Wow.
Starting point is 00:47:27 They really, like, they don't look. They haven't looked great other than week one. Yeah. 31-10 over Denver. Working some stuff out. Yeah, I mean, that's what they look like. And now they clearly look like the best team in the AFC. I don't think they look like the best team in the league.
Starting point is 00:47:41 Not yet. I'd say San Francisco, but we'll see how their injuries work out. But they just, it reminds me of like two years ago. when they were 15.1. Now, it's not as close the games, but they just, they just work with like. And it's a different style, obviously, because you have running back. You've got to go into the game stopping the run against Kansas City. Right.
Starting point is 00:48:03 From a defensive perspective, when that's the first thing you've got to stop, and then that open up everything else for Bachelor of Homebush, and now you've got to deal with play action. Yeah. And this is the stat that you mentioned and Patrick alluded to. Fastest to 100 regular season wins. I mean, that's an unbelievable list. And he's tied with Tom, half season faster than Montana, and then a full season faster than the other guys who were, you know, two Steelers legends plus Russell Wilson, who was a winner from the very beginning, which does speak to, it's just a reminder of whenever, and I get mad in the off season.
Starting point is 00:48:42 When we talk about best quarterbacks and rivalries and all of that, it's these two guys. He's keeping pace with his only true rival once again. And it'll be a career long... Wow, a three banners. It will be a career long chase, and Patrick is aware of how far he has to go, but that's the only rival he's got. The guy who's calling this weekend's Game on Fox.
Starting point is 00:49:05 Are we losing faith in the Rams? That's next on first things first on that best one. Square knows that in hospitality, efficiency is everything. That's why their system lets you take payments. track sales, handle inventory, manage staff, send invoices, and keep up with finances all in one place. Fly through orders with zero mistakes. Get the data you need and keep everything working together. So you're ready for whatever's next.
Starting point is 00:49:34 Learn more about their customizable with plans at squareup.com. Oh my goodness. A lot of New York. Joe that's talking about Christmas time. Nick wins his big survivor pool. If he wins, he wins. $1,018 people left on Splash. the second most valuable entry in the entire contest.
Starting point is 00:49:55 Just see. Long way to go. Long way to go. But obviously I'm going to win it. Obviously I'm going to win it. Of first things first. Today, Josh Allen wins, but can the bills keep winning this way? Meanwhile, what's wrong with the Cowboys' offense? Used to be Gotti and, you know, now it's just not. It was Godi for what? Two weeks? Three weeks, yeah. Maybe even four. But right now, We're talking about the Rams. They're two and four.
Starting point is 00:50:23 Offense doesn't really hum. Defense is blah. They lost to the Cardinals, only kicked field goals. Friend of the show, Bill Barnwell, running, losing three games to three of the six best teams of the NFL in terms of win-loss record since the start of 2025. It was disappointing. But it wasn't alarming. Well, the alarms are now going off in Los Angeles, Coach.
Starting point is 00:50:45 You want to start what's wrong with the Rams. Well, part of this is the upset alertness factor. to it and they lost us some tough teams and they went into this game thinking that it was going to be an easy game and McVeigh's been great against Arizona's 16 and 4 against them so I'm sure everybody just assumed we're going to show up, we're going to go out there and everything will be fine and the thing that I struggle with with the Rams right now is they've got two backs that are averaging almost five yards of carry but they're 24th in the NFL in rushing attempts so they're putting the pressure on the passing game when they could shift some of that back,
Starting point is 00:51:23 which I think would help them. And especially in a game like they played this past week. So the Cardinals typically pressure about 25% of the time. This game, they decided they were gonna light it up. So they came after about 35% in standard pressures, and then they had a bunch of simulated pressures, and it created problems. The Rams are dealing with substitutes
Starting point is 00:51:43 on the left side of their line. That's where Arizona attacked. And as the game unfolded, and Arizona got a little momentum going with the pressure package, They kept coming, and I thought the Rams would have shifted towards more of a rushing attack, try to slow some of that down and take advantage of it. But they didn't, and that's kind of where you end up.
Starting point is 00:52:03 You get upset when you shouldn't. No, I agree with you, Coach, and I think that it's leading. That's one thing, the losing as well, leading to low morale. So Kyron Williams, who you said, he's averaging like 4.9 yards of carry. Only 80 carries in this season. And only 10 yesterday. Yeah, and he was upset after the game. Somebody asked him, one of the reporters asked him,
Starting point is 00:52:25 why does the offense look so bad, mediocre, or whatever? And he said, maybe because I'm not in there, you know, or because I'm not out there. So morale in the locker. I agree with them. Yeah, and it's making them predictable because everybody knows you're throwing, so that makes it tougher on Stafford, who's playing fine, but he's not playing great.
Starting point is 00:52:45 And I think, Coach, there are three main people, if you will, Stafford, McVeigh, and I'll say Aaron Donald. They're three biggest personalities. All those guys, Donald did retire. McVeigh and Stafford have entertained retiring over the last few years. And I just wonder if I know they're, you know, they want to win and they're working hard. But if you've entertained retirement, even when you think you're working hard, you may not be working as hard as you used to. And I just, you know, that's, that little bit of difference can be the difference between winning and losing when this league is so close.
Starting point is 00:53:26 And so I think that's something to look at too. I feel like Nick, they thought we're going to come out here. This will be our ride into the sunset possibly. You know, all of them could, this could be their last year in that situation. And maybe they thought this was going to be a nice ride into the sunset. now is something completely different, and they have their hands full just even getting the playoffs. So I think morale there is a real problem.
Starting point is 00:53:55 Yeah, I mean, you're talking about those guys riding off into the sunset. Miles Garrett's got to be waking up, you know, being like, hold on a second. Am I about to be on a team with Ty Simpson as the quarterback, a new head coach? And like once again, is my NFL destiny, just to be a star pass rusher on bad teams? I don't think the Rams are a bad team this year. They're not playing well, but I think next year they could be,
Starting point is 00:54:22 because next year, McVeigh could be calling games on Amazon and Stafford could be retired. Like, and, you know, life can come at you fast in that regard. I, the biggest thing that, the Rams, two best players, one has not been there and one is not playing like it. Miles Garrett was supposed to fix a lot of what was wrong with them, and they traded away one of their better players to get him. He has not played this year.
Starting point is 00:54:49 He's played one game, was ineffective after being injured all, or dealing with soreness or whatever all offseason. We don't know when he's coming back. We don't. He's on IR at knee surgery. That's concerning. Stafford, and this was something I flagged before the year, that his MVP year was a huge career outlier for him,
Starting point is 00:55:09 not only is playing more like he played the previous two years, this is the worst he's played. as a ram. Like he is, if we put up Stafford's numbers, he is still throwing for a lot of yards, which coach, you know, alluded to might actually be part of the problem in that, not Matt's fault, but they should be running it more. But on an efficiency basis, your 12th in completion percentage of somewhat overrated stat, but 15th in yards per attempt, 20 second touchdown to interception, 17th in passer rating. There's a name for that statistical profile, average. Hubs would say mid. Yeah, that's what I'm, you know, I was born in the 80s, so I'm not going to say it.
Starting point is 00:55:48 Remember, these guys are also suffering from the disadvantage of being like they won the Super Bowl. And they didn't win the Super Bowl. Seattle won the Super Bowl. And New England and Seattle don't get talked about nearly as much as the Rams have been talked about. So you get all of that pressure of the preseason favorite. Everybody's up to play you. Your star player who you, you know, is supposed to contribute significantly has been out. To me, calm things down, run the ball significantly more.
Starting point is 00:56:19 Let's see whether or not that 4.9 yards per carry average comes down. Your left tackle's not there right now. Like, calm things down. And I would, this team is far from out of contention. And they lost close games, they're good teams, and then they got upset by a team they shouldn't have been upset. I'm not saying they're out of contention. I am saying they're out of contention for the division.
Starting point is 00:56:42 I think that's dead, which means. there are going to be a team with a 38-year-old quarterback playing road, probably outdoor, maybe cold weather, playoff games. That's at least moderately concerning. I also think this year's NFC is very weird in that, yes, two of the divisions are not good at all, but they are going to get playoff teams. So in order to make the playoffs,
Starting point is 00:57:04 you need to be a top five team in the NFC, because two of the playoff spots are coming from the NFC East and NFC South. So you're going to have, to me, to me, me, the Niners in Seattle are clearly better than them right now. And then right now this moment, at least three of the NFC North teams look better, if not all of them. So I'm not saying they're, and you need to be better than all of the NFC North except for two teams, in my opinion, to get a wildcard spot. And so I just think it's, I think they're on very shaky ground thanks to this loss. It's early, though.
Starting point is 00:57:40 It is early, but how many losses? I bet you a 10-win team. misses the playoffs in the NFC this year? No team that's had a losing record, and I read this Bill Barnwell's story, a losing record after six weeks has ever made the Super Bowl. Correct.
Starting point is 00:57:56 60 years. What did you see the Super Bowl stats about the Bill's defense? Wow. I can't wait. Do you have playoff stats about the Bill's defense? No. Okay. We spent, actually, yeah, I think it's only the 2000 Rams. Oh, okay. We spent all week talking about the Cowboys
Starting point is 00:58:12 defense, new voices, new positions for the coaches, new team meetings, then the offense puts up 13 points with extra rest. They lose again. Here's DAC on why the offense is struggling. I wish I could give you that answer at this time, but that's watching the film. See what wasn't done or what wasn't executed officially. I know I had plays out there that I went back. I believe in who we are and know we have the talent, know we've got the men that care.
Starting point is 00:58:39 We just got to put it together. And our process is right, but we've got to win on Sunday. Okay, first four games, they were two and two. The offense was a little bit better. Pass rating was 105, yeah. Last two games, the Dax pass rating is down to 67, and their points went from 30 to 15. Yeah, I guess that is a significant. Coach, you are obviously a great football mind.
Starting point is 00:59:06 They call you Man Genius. I'm just a flag football championship winning coach. Seems to me that they can't run the ball at all. That's my take. what's your take? Well, part of running the ball is trying to run the ball. Thank you. That's a big part of it.
Starting point is 00:59:19 And, you know, when you talk as much as you talk prior to the season about how you're going to be gotty and you set alarm clocks and get T-shirts and you have catchphrases and all that other stuff and then you go into the season and it doesn't pan out the way it's supposed to pan out, it just looks silly. And you don't need to do that. But they did it. But they did it. So now they're going to lean into it.
Starting point is 00:59:43 That's what they're going to do. So instead of saying, okay, it's not quite going the way that it should, but let's lean into this narrative that we're the greatest offense. So, you know, I don't even know what the actual. The greatest offense there is. Okay, whatever it is. But let's just look at last year versus this year. And to me, it's about balance.
Starting point is 01:00:01 So in 2025, it was 41 to 58 rush versus pass. And this year now it's 32% rush, 67.5% pass to be the highest by any team in the season since 2018. That's fine, but I've said over and over again for throughout the time here and talking about Dak, when he throws or attempts over 40 attempts per game, his record's not very good. So here it is. In 2019, it happened seven times. Then it was five, four. This year he's four times in six games, including the last four games, each of the last four games.
Starting point is 01:00:34 What's his record, 11 and 22 and 1 when throwing 40 plus passes in his career? It's not good. It doesn't work. It doesn't win. Stop it, cut it out, run the ball. And the way that they're built, the way they're built, their offensive line, they've got three number ones on the offensive line. They're big.
Starting point is 01:00:53 They're physical. They are not, you know, designed to be pass blocking 50 times or whatever it is. A game, let them hit somebody. I agree with you, Coach. And it's similar to what we just said with the Rams. He's so sick. like the Cowboys have the second fewest rushing attempts in the league
Starting point is 01:01:16 so they're even running less than the Rams are so that makes them predictable and to your point with all those stats the more DAC throws the less success that they have as good as he is and so I look I'm looking at Schottenheimer right now I'm not really the press conferences
Starting point is 01:01:34 I get it he wants to be positive I guess but it's at this point it's falling flat and he's 9, 13, and 1 with them. Now, last year, I included, but everybody, like, oh, he did a very good job. We know how bad the defense was. But he did have Dak. Like, Mike McCarthy, and I'm not saying he's Vince Lamberti,
Starting point is 01:01:57 but those three 12-win seasons consecutively look really good. Not any finish 7 and 10, but Dak played only eight games that year. He only played half the season. And so Schopenheimer has had DAC the whole, you know, all the games that he's coached there and he's not getting it done. We know about the defense. Schottnheimer is an offensive guy. But he's the play caller. The lack of balance is on him.
Starting point is 01:02:23 And for whatever reason, they're battling. I've always blamed it on Jerry and just the culture he's setting with all his talking. And it's still his culture. But he hasn't been running his mouth quite like he used to. I know he's still doing the radio interviews and talking out. after games, but it's not the same as before, but this still looks like the same old, unpredictable drama-filled, Cald?
Starting point is 01:02:47 Listen, their best players are not playing well enough. Their most expensive players are not playing well enough. Dak, the last two weeks has been bad, and because of that, the offense can't score, and I understand your point coach about the running game. Javante Williams makes no money. Like, where they've invest, smartly or not, they've invested in the passing game. They traded for Pickens, franchise tagged him.
Starting point is 01:03:14 C.D. Lame at one point is the most expensive receiver in the league. He's since been surpassed. Dax stills the most expensive quarterback in the league. Can we put up Dax numbers the last two weeks? They, the, you showed it to a degree, KW. That's not going to work. Quinn and Williams. How many times I have to hear Collinsworth last night be like,
Starting point is 01:03:36 Listen, Quentin Williams is very good early in drives, but latent drives, fella gets tired. Like, come on. Listen, I imagine being that big and playing that position. It's very tiring. I don't think I would do well at it in any regard. But he's supposed to be a difference-making D-tackle to make up for it. The organizationally, I know they thought they were close because they traded a second
Starting point is 01:04:02 round pick for a corner that they're going to have to pay this off season. And so right now, the Cowboys are a team that has one way to win. Dack be great. CDN Pickens, you know, crush your matchups and go score 30. The most, I mean. I disagree with that. But it's the only way under, so let me ask you before we move on. Since Schottenheimer's gotten there, coach, they are 1 and 11 when they don't score 30 points.
Starting point is 01:04:34 So what evidence do we have that they can win another way? Like what, I mean, when you disagree with it, there must be a reason for it. How many points they give up the last two games? Weren't they both last two games under 30 points? Yeah, I think 24 and 13. Okay, so there's part of the proof. There's two games where they didn't give up 30. And the other thing that helps the defense, keeping them off the field.
Starting point is 01:04:56 Like if you're throwing the ball 70 times a game, your defense, if you don't think, you know, that they can go out there and hold up. you're going to keep putting them out there and you're going to keep extending games. That doesn't make sense either. You've got to be able to play complimentary football. And in fairness to deck, they're teeing off on the offensive linemen, so he's getting pressured a lot more quickly because nobody's worried about them ever running the ball. So why would anybody ever play the run when they can just sit there and tee off? It makes everything harder.
Starting point is 01:05:27 Coach, I agree with you philosophically, as you know, in the decade we've been doing the show together. I've become a play defense run the ball type of guy. How's it worked out for Kansas City? But the flip side, so I agree with you that to reach the level they want to reach, they need to be a more well-balanced team. But you know who runs the ball less and is worse at it than Dallas? The team that just beat them. Green Bay, Green Bay last night, they actually did run it more,
Starting point is 01:05:53 but they ran it 26 times for 57 yards. And the reason Green Bay... How many times the Dallas run it? 15 times for 48 yards. No, but that's not... But the other distinction last night was Green Bay's defense has been playing great as of late. And Jordan Love has been the last few weeks playing the best ball of his season instead of the worst ball of the season. But sometimes the two-yard carry isn't about the two-yard carry.
Starting point is 01:06:19 It's about the play action that allows you to set up. It's about allowing that offensive linemen to attack instead of have to sit back. How many times do you out your running back to get blown up by a blitzing linebacker when he's got to sit there and block? It's like, let them go hit somebody. I know. You've always been a fan. I love you. Privately.
Starting point is 01:06:38 Like him. Yeah, he's pretty good. Beat the Jets. Are we back on the doorstep of destiny? That's next right here on FS1. I bet Jerry calls the Eagles and says you want to trade a safe one. Even though the Fox Toberfest Friday World Series starts. Brewers waiting to see who wins between the Guardians and the Rays.
Starting point is 01:06:57 Rays can punch their ticket tonight. Say goodbye to Bruce Cleveland button. Coverage begins 7 o'clock Friday on Fox. Head to Foxborough where Drake May and the Patriots dispatched of the Jets behind a makeshift offensive line and several drops from A.J. Brown. This wasn't one of them. This was a great pass to Romeo Dobbs, who we just found out
Starting point is 01:07:21 is on IR. That's not good. And you guys dealt with more offensive line injuries, which did concern. It was shocking. We had a makeshift offensive line and then Drake wasn't stacked and we just ran the ball down the field. So actually it's pretty good. Here's AJ on his drops.
Starting point is 01:07:36 Take a lesson. I didn't play good. I don't know my timer was off. I'm much better than what I put on display today. There's no excuses. I'd be better. Still believing you. Drake May since halftime at the bills.
Starting point is 01:07:56 I don't know what happened at this. Half time. What a speech for able gave Drake May. Holy cow went from two touchdowns and nine turnovers to 10 touchdown zero turnovers pass for ratings at 127 now it was against the Jets and we did have two turnovers Brew I am not so and you are on to it even though you claim to be a great actor you won't pretend like I can trick you anymore so I'm just going to gently get the door of destiny and then we'll ask how you felt about it since this was your upset alert
Starting point is 01:08:24 pick not a big deal you think I'm gonna say something well I'm just saying it's not Sips are sealed. It's, Brew, it's not a big deal. It's the door of destiny. Hello. We beat the Jets.
Starting point is 01:08:37 We always beat the Jets. It's not a big deal. If guys are on IR, the offensive line was a little bit banged up, and we have the Bears on Thursday. So I feel confident. Pretty confident. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:08:50 Cautiously out there. AJ needs to catch the ball. He will. Brew, how do you think I should feel? He really don't. He can't come in. until I say so. I didn't know it.
Starting point is 01:09:10 I did not know. I didn't know. Okay. How do you think I should feel? This was your upset alert, but you didn't really, your heart wasn't in this one. Let's be honest.
Starting point is 01:09:26 Win in advance. You should feel good. Okay. Win in advance. But there's no more to advance to. Yeah, but just you got to stack wins. You know I don't have you making the playoffs. You better get as many wins as you can.
Starting point is 01:09:38 All right? AJ will be fine. Yes. I'm not concerned at all about it. I'm a little concerned. You think he's not going to catch the football? It was a bad look. He's played two games with the Patriots.
Starting point is 01:09:50 One, he left in a walking boot. The other one, he dropped everything, including the on-side kick. I'm a little concerned. When you talk as much as he does, like I'm, it should, hopefully it would humbling. All right, when you talk all that stuff in Philadelphia like he did, you can't go out and do this.
Starting point is 01:10:06 Philadelphia, is it not a brand of the years. No, I'm just saying it. But that reading the book on the side lines travels with him. Follows him, all right. It follows with him. But he'll be, I think he'll be fine. I'd be shocked if he doesn't have a good season when he plays. Wilds, can I tell you how he should feel?
Starting point is 01:10:21 Yes. You should feel great. Thank you. So three-game win streak in the AFC, may have three touchdowns, no turnovers. That's fantastic. A.J. Brown's poor performance. That's great.
Starting point is 01:10:33 That's great in a win because, like, to your point, He gets humbled and motivated. So now you have the potential to get all that production from a guy who's a superstar who's been humbled and now is motivated. That's huge. They ran the ball 36 times for 148 yards. Re-running backs. 4.1 yards carried. Love that.
Starting point is 01:10:52 Josh. They held the jets to 3 for 10 on 3rd down, 0 for 2 on 4th down. Perfect. Held them to 0 for 3 in the red zone. They were 8 for 13 on 3rd down. That's good. Turnover is still a problem. Don't love that.
Starting point is 01:11:05 but the fact that none of them came from Drake May, huge, huge progress. You should feel fantastic. Thank you, Coach. That was great. You go. I just feel fantastic. Drake May is all the way back. I'm not, I don't want to send it. I don't want to send the show off a cliff, but we're getting dangerously close
Starting point is 01:11:28 to having Drake May MVP conversations. Not there yet, especially considering what he battled through. Well, so that's... Not even in my consideration. Not yet, but here's the thing. You think you should... If you're in four and two, you should be on the number. Third and night's...
Starting point is 01:11:47 Just hold on. Let me meet you halfway. Yeah. If there was ever going to be a part of the season where you could be clearly and unequivocally, the worst quarterback in the league, and still find a way in MVP conversations for three weeks,
Starting point is 01:12:03 it would have to be the first three weeks of the year. year, which is what it was. So he is now back to being eligible. Remember, I'm in charge of a lot of eligibility. I'm like the NCAA clearinghouse. He is now eligible to be in the conversation again. I will admit that. Will you now admit that he's been healthy all year? No. Why was he on the injury report? You're Mr. Injury Report? Because according to his team, during the Jacksonville game, he got hit. But so he was healthy leading up to it in all year. He can't. He hurt, not injured. But what about now?
Starting point is 01:12:37 Well, now he looks great. So now he's... I don't know. I'm not at all-ealed. He went from hurt to not hurt. I don't know. Copping, all sort of... Capping, massage, a little bit of more training.
Starting point is 01:12:47 During half time of the Bills game. I don't know. That's a good point. There's a lot of trade secrets going on. He does look good, though. He actually is, jokes aside. He's just playing so much smarter. He's doing these, like, you know...
Starting point is 01:12:59 Yeah, because it was never going to correct. Which is our point, always, that it was not a physical problem. was a decision-making problem. Remember I showed you some stuff that I had my eye on? Yeah. Now it looks good, though. Chris, excellent job, as always, we've got to move on to a Buffalo. Bill's now five-in-one headed into their by-week.
Starting point is 01:13:17 Josh had probably the coolest highlight of the week, and so did Kurt Cousins, thanks to the Bill's defense. Hello. Bills have now won seven straight games when their opponent scores 30 or more. It's the longest regular season streak in the history of football or since the merger, whatever it is. Either way, it's ridiculous and untenable, and it's not a bad take to think that a team could miss the playoffs with half a team. Were you guys impressed with the bills? So a couple things. One is what you should have said
Starting point is 01:13:47 there is the reason that's a regular season streak is because they did allow 30 in the playoff game and loss because of it. That's what you should have said. The reason you can't say that is because you painted yourself into a corner bugs bunny style, not that this is going to cost them in the playoffs, but this is. is that this is going to cost them the playoffs, which you can't even believe anymore because I know you picked every Bill's game throughout the year,
Starting point is 01:14:13 and the reason you had them missing the playoffs was because they would, no, you're wrong. That's not why. You always had them beating the charger. It's the point that they're half a team. They're like letting the Raiders put a highlight tape on them. You see the Patriots playing the Raiders?
Starting point is 01:14:29 They're like a cat playing with a ball yarn. That's fine. And this is like, oh my gosh. It's Star Wars here. They're five and one. They're obviously going to make the playoffs. But I want the audience, the audience does not enjoy you contesting something that they think is ridiculous.
Starting point is 01:14:46 What they will enjoy is coach and I a little prism into our brains. I want to show you a play from Josh Allen two weeks ago that coach thought was awesome and I thought was bad. Please show us the play. This was the play that lost them the patient. Patriots game. I Neanderthal man thought game losing pick bad play. Coach, you also had the coverage wrong. Football savant said actually great play. I'm now going to show you a play from last night or yesterday that I, Neanderthal man thought was so awesome. I broke my no tweeting during football games policy to tweet how great it was that I guarantee coach is about to tell us how terrible of a decision this is.
Starting point is 01:15:33 This is what I'm going to tell you I knew it He hated it If you look at the comments After the game The head coach said Oh yeah That's just
Starting point is 01:15:42 That's the play we called It was a great play And he did a fantastic job I'm fine with that But don't When the other play happens Which Nick hates I hate
Starting point is 01:15:51 Don't say You know you got to be more careful With the ball You can't put the game In jeopardy By making these decisions You can't have it both ways The one that I
Starting point is 01:16:01 gave him some credit for was and Nick obviously doesn't like it because it didn't work. So that's how it worked. That's how the evaluation. You know what? It's a results based business. If the play doesn't work, then it's a bad play and the process was wrong and the decision making was wrong. Yeah. If the play is ridiculous and somehow works and it was a good, well designed.
Starting point is 01:16:23 But that's not the reality. So if you give them out of boys for this, which you can, you can. And it worked out well. and that's fantastic. I also don't even think that's who he was throwing to. I think he was throwing to 13. He didn't know if he knows who he's throwing to. Right.
Starting point is 01:16:39 Just threw it up. It was awesome. It was awesome. It's fun. It's good TV. A little shorter. Everybody loves you. It's an interception.
Starting point is 01:16:46 You know, when he throws on a corner that's beaten by two yards against cover one and it gets intercepted, it's like, what a terrible decision. I can't believe it. We got to get to. Who would ever do that? Rudy is okay if we just go across the pond. Head across the pond. where the Texans dethroned the Prince.
Starting point is 01:17:04 This was supposed to be the Texans, a defensive stall war, but it's actually C.J. Stroud was powering the squad and not the defense. More 30-point graphics. 2025, the Texans never allowed a game or never allowed 30 points. In 2026, they've done it three times.
Starting point is 01:17:21 Only the Cardinals have more. Now, some people say the Texans are a scary team. Scary's going too far. But are they officially scary? officially, un-officially, whatever. No, no. Scary's too far. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 01:17:36 Because they've given up, the defense still isn't close to what it used to be. All right, you just showed it giving up 30 points. Didn't they make a change though? I thought they changed. Yeah, D'emico. Yeah, I mean, they're winning. They're two and oh. They are, look, it's better.
Starting point is 01:17:49 It's better. They put the coordinator in the booth. They tried that. Go ahead. CJ was fantastic yesterday. Yeah. Like that's one of the best games he's played as a pro. I mean, that was, he was awesome.
Starting point is 01:18:04 I think he's having his best season. Yeah, because he's been better than his rookie year. Yeah, he had, what, 23 touchdowns that year. He's, I think he's on pace for more than that. Did you guys see the pick in the end zone or did I was the only one that saw that? But don't, I mean, yeah, he threw a pick. Yeah, he threw, look at those passes. The deep balls.
Starting point is 01:18:21 He's not played a perfect game. Sorry, I'm picking the end zone at the end. You know what I like to cross? Here's what I think they have. I don't think they're scary yet, but they have life. They are, they have life and they're in the hunt. They will be in the hunt. Yeah, because I'll say.
Starting point is 01:18:36 And they even got a run game yesterday, which is impressive. And the schedule's about to really soften up for them. But if you look at CJ's numbers, I, listen, I think the defense is going to get better. The personnel's too good. And I believe Domingo is a great coach. that I believe it's going to get better. And so with CJ, again, I don't really care. As long as your completion percentage is above 62,
Starting point is 01:19:03 I don't really care about it. I know KW cares about a lot, coach cares about a little. 65 is totally fine. Like, all those other numbers for CJ, that pick in the end zone was his first interception all year. I'm not saying it's a good play. When was it?
Starting point is 01:19:18 It was early in the game, right? No, it was late. He's been a smart aleck, brew. I get that. But it's a seal the game. Listen, Travis Hunter made a great play. And Travis Hunter, by the way, coach, you're going to be rude. It was a great on offense and defense.
Starting point is 01:19:32 Really stuck it to you. I wonder why. People are talking like he's going to do this every week. Listen, I think the Texans are officially scary. Scary. Yeah, I think they're going to, I think they are, I don't know before coach goes, if we can throw up their schedule. I would expect them to get to, to go into the Ravens.
Starting point is 01:19:54 at worst, five and five and potentially six and four on a six game winning streak. And they rent, yeah, and so like that makes them, and it's not like that you went went off and it's not like that right hand column after this is murderers row, particularly now that we know the eagle that at Philadelphia was supposed to be a treacherous game. It's not so much. So yeah, to me that's a scary team right now. I am happy that CJ is playing so much better than he was. than he was. He used to be your guy. Yeah, he was. Look, I'm really excited for him because I
Starting point is 01:20:29 think he's sincere in his work ethic and his approach and so I'm glad that that progress is being made. Defensively, they should be a lot better than they are. It's disappointing that they still gave up 30 points and in a lot of ways, surprising that that's still the case. I like the fact that organizationally they were willing to make a move and trade for Marvin Harrison. I thought that That was another really strong sign to the locker room that we haven't given up on the season.
Starting point is 01:20:57 If anything, we're going to go try to reinforce this thing because we believe that things can change. Saying they're scary right now, it was a great win. And it really was, to some degree, a season-saving win because they had no chance to win the division. Now they've got a shot to compete in the division. The win over, you know, the win the week before, they were winless at the time. So not that excited. Yeah, beating the Titans wasn't. Yeah, it was nice to get off, you know, to get the first one.
Starting point is 01:21:25 This was a real quality win that they desperately needed. I would have loved if it hadn't been, you know, at the 30-point threshold defensively. But there are a lot of things to be excited about if you're a fan. Mandated 15 seconds on the Jags coming back from their home away from home. Danny hit me on this and I didn't think about it much of the time. and then I thought about it more. I think Liam Cohen electing to kick a 60-yarder to tie the game with a minute 40 left
Starting point is 01:22:00 rather than try to pick up the first down and keep the ball was a huge error given the way the Houston and moved the ball. Like his kicker made it and that's fine, but that doesn't, in today's NFL, like we were saying earlier, giving the ball back in a tie game with 90 seconds left doesn't win it again. Fox Toverfest, Sunday NFL doubleheader on Fox, first one Eastern 49ers taking on the Falcons, Then at four.
Starting point is 01:22:51 This is a good match. Ackers taking on the Lions. America's Game of the Week only on Fox. Excited to hear Brady talk about how Jordan Love is playing. That's good. Yeah. Every team in the AFC North is above 500. Brown, Steelers, Ravens are all 4 and 2.
Starting point is 01:23:08 The Bengals are 3 and 2. That's the standings in front of you, Brown, Steelers, Ravens, Biggs. But odds have the first place, Browns and last. Second place, Steelers, and third. The third place, Ravens in first. And the last place, Bengals, is the second. That's what are the odds, bro.
Starting point is 01:23:20 Yeah. Are you taking all of these teams seriously? Vegas isn't, Brew's not a gambler, but Brew agrees with those odds exactly. You would power rank it, Ravens, Bengals, Steelers, Browns. Yes. Yeah, that's exactly. Like, look, and that's how Vegas power ranks. But that's also like a preseason.
Starting point is 01:23:38 Well, I'm just telling you how. But if you even look, I'm a little bit excited about Cleveland. Like, I think they have shown improvement. But still, I do feel that way after six weeks of football. Well, I definitely, I think the Ravens are the best team because they obviously have the best offense when healthy. And I think their defense isn't great yet. I think it potentially could get there. But it's better than Cincinnati's.
Starting point is 01:24:05 And then you got Pittsburgh where Aaron Rogers is, I mean, he's throwing some touchdown. But, you know, he's just dinking and dunking and all that stuff. And then Cleveland has offensive challenges. Deshawn, congratulations to him. these late game winning drivers. It's like four. Every game they've won. He's got a late last minute drive.
Starting point is 01:24:27 But I just think Baltimore is the most balanced team. Like we were talking about Green Bay and the NFC North. And it's similar to the NFC North and that they're all good teams. But I do feel like it'll be Baltimore winning the division and either Cincinnati or Pittsburgh getting in for that wild card. Wouldn't mind seeing Cleveland. But I just think their offense has. trouble scoring and I think that could
Starting point is 01:24:52 could harm them. And if you look at the odds, if you were just doing it based off of quarterbacks, then Cincinnati and Baltimore would have the highest odds. But you wonder, can those two guys stay healthy? So that's the big question for both those teams. So if they're both playing, then to me, they're probably
Starting point is 01:25:10 the hardest outs. And then with Deshaun and Aaron, can they really do it over the course? Aaron's played well the last month. He absolutely has. He's played well in last month. Can they do it over the course of the entire season? But in fairness to the Browns, the Ravens wins against Colts, Falcons, Titans, and Cowboys.
Starting point is 01:25:29 They're combined 7 and 17. The Bengals have the Bucks, Texans, and Dolphins combined three and 14. Those are their wins. Steelers, they beat the Bengals, but their other three wins, Falcons, Colts, Bucks, they're combined five and 13. And Cleveland has beat Pittsburgh. Cleveland has beat Baltimore. Cleveland has beat Carolina.
Starting point is 01:25:48 and defensively they have the best defense of the group where they're giving up their seventh right now in the league in points allowed. They've got a bunch of young guys playing that should continue to get better as the season goes on. I'm starting to believe in Aaron Rogers and the Steelers. I didn't think he was that good yesterday.
Starting point is 01:26:06 No, I thought he was good in the fourth quarter. I thought he was good in the fourth quarter. I thought he was quite good the week before. Okay, so can I ask you a question, KW? So I thought, I knew you were going to pick one of the Steelers or Browns that you're starting to believe in. I'm just going to say AFC teams and when I say one, you believe the Steelers
Starting point is 01:26:22 and more than tell me, okay? Kansas City. Yes. Wait. No, no, no. He means... No, I mean... No, I mean...
Starting point is 01:26:32 I think which these teams are better than... When I say a team that you like the Steelers more, then stop me. Okay, it's like a meme. Kansas City, New England, Baltimore. Yeah? So Baltimore's a maybe. You like the Steelers more? I'm just not ready to say that an old quarterback who has the same record as the Ravens whose quarterback is hurt.
Starting point is 01:26:56 I'm just not willing to get you guys. You guys missed the playoffs last year. Steelers are the defending. That's fine. That's fine. That's fine. That's fine. Buffalo.
Starting point is 01:27:05 Wow. Geez, that defense, I don't know. Jacksonville. Yeah, I believe in Jacksonville. Denver. No. Cincinnati. No.
Starting point is 01:27:15 Okay. Then Houston. No. Okay, so right now, all right, so then you really do believe. Right now you have the Steelers as potentially the fourth best team in the conference. Steelers would, if the playoffs started today, the Steelers would be in Buffalo. Like, I know everybody thinks that would just be like an easy dub. Bills would win.
Starting point is 01:27:34 That would be a vintage Josh Allen Wildcard round performance. They must have a lot of offensive talent. It's DK, and they can run the ball, and then Mike McCarthy can cope. All right, KW using the Steelers. I'm telling us. All right, I like it. Rogers is balling. Hello, boys. Yeah, I'm thinking I'm back. You know Iceman is always watching, and I saw a lot from you all last week. I'll start with that man brew. You got Mr. Inevitable. Yeah, Mr. Inevitable. Plus God's gift to American football, must win, must explode, must detonate.
Starting point is 01:28:11 300 yards and 31 points, enough of a detonation. And then I remember someone with goofy hair put on his super serious voice all over a press conference and social media bio. Announcement time. I'm worried about Caleb. Oh, stop. You know what was really inevitable, that that was going to age poorly. And you know who isn't worried other than me and Danny? This may as may well as be as consistent as a game as he's played as a pro.
Starting point is 01:28:44 It's the best one that I saw it. That's right, the goat himself. The former Patriot couldn't stop gushing about Caleb during his return. Speaking of the Pats, hey Wilds, that door of destiny better be sturdy because it's on thin ice. I'll see you Thursday. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. The thin ice line. It's got an ice man again.
Starting point is 01:29:14 Ice man's pretty funny. Ice man is growing on me. Yeah. It was for me. I'm actually on the other side of it. Yeah, like it didn't like it. Then it grew on me and then I'm back off of it. Kind of has the delivery of vector from despicable me, which I like.
Starting point is 01:29:32 The guy who wears the orange jumpsuit. We don't wear adults. We don't know what you're talking. I mean, we're 40 times. I honestly don't know what you're starting. I have no idea. He's referencing. Sorry, I have kids that I love and I take them.
Starting point is 01:29:51 One of your kids is 25. Today, bad news for the Rams. Devante Adams is going to be out for a considerable amount of time. We dig into that in a second. Meanwhile, did we learn more about about the Cowboys or the Packers or about ourselves. And finally, can the bills keep winning this way? They set the record and it is working.
Starting point is 01:30:17 Maybe I'm crazy. Chris Broussard, Kevin Wilde's, Nick Wright, and Danny Parkins, the cameo from the Iceman. Parkins, we're still working on the Patriots Bears bet. Bruce trying to get another dinner out. Yeah, Bruce trying to free-roll. Boozer takes us on to dinner. Absolutely.
Starting point is 01:30:35 Stay-couse. In the comments or on social media can make some suggestions. That would be great. Sure. So in theory the OT's off on Friday, but I'm not willing to come in. Okay. Pay up on a bet. We'll see.
Starting point is 01:30:47 We've got to establish some stakes. Big game. Let's head down to Atlanta, where the ice man was hot. 30 for 36, over 300 yards. Caleb's back. And so are Ben Johnson's post-game content creation. That's right. Let's take a listen.
Starting point is 01:31:05 30 completions on 36 attempts. I'm happy yards and a touchdown. I'm happy to be back. It's bears over everybody. State champions. That's been changed. That was the short version.
Starting point is 01:31:45 KW. Can't stand it. What did Kayla prove? He did look great. He looked amazing. You know how in must win? You can either start or you can pass and go last? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:31:57 I want to go last. Oh, no, that's... Oh, really? Yeah, you guys spent all last week mocking and concerned and falling about. I was just motivating. Yeah. Okay, then I'll go. I'm going last.
Starting point is 01:32:11 I'll go. All right. Fast as heel from what we now know was a torn hamstring. Not a hamstring tear, which is what I thought it was. Cale won't tell us the grade. But hamstring tear. Well, that's what I thought because like a strain is a tear. So like grade one hamstring is it.
Starting point is 01:32:28 partial tear. But our NFL insiders are now calling this a torn hamstring, which Devante Adams might have just ended his career. But so fastest recovery I've seen, he was able to, with the, he didn't look to me quite as fast as normal, but I wonder if that almost was a good thing for his development, that while we're, we are showing an. off-schedual. The coolest looking throws are the ones where he's moving around,
Starting point is 01:33:03 but he didn't have a ton of those. It was much more like this. Drop back, straight drop back. 24 of 24 from Clean Pockets. Okay, there you go. Perfect. So I didn't have that number, but that's what I was seeing out there. So I thought that was super positive. And the fact that I don't think he is going, he did brew. I don't know if this is proving it, but he just showed us. When Lamar comes back, whether it's this week or next week, I expect his first game, him to be a little rusty,
Starting point is 01:33:33 because most quarterbacks, their first game back, are a little rusty. Maybe because Caleb had started practicing as early as the week before this one, like he had knocked more of the rust off. But he looked more like his full self aside from not being quite as explosive than I expected. And all of that, I don't know if I agree with Brady that that was the best game he's played. but given the if we're grading on a curve of coming off an injury and how important was to the team it's certainly one of them so all that is nothing but kudan i thought he showed that he learns like last year was about the operation under ben johnson this year it was about
Starting point is 01:34:11 the efficiency and and 30 for 36 you don't get much more efficient than that show some mental toughness in taking all of that criticism over the last several weeks addressing it which puts more pressure on him and then coming out there and playing that well. He was great. You know, I mean, if you're a Bears fan, now, if it weren't, look, the game against Minnesota obviously he struggled. First game was fantastic. This game was fantastic.
Starting point is 01:34:41 So I'll be interested to see kind of how he follows this up. You don't want him to be as up and down. He's not going to be great every week, but you want a little more steady. But, man, you couldn't ask for anything more from him. He was great. That was really satisfying, guys. Thank you. I really enjoy it.
Starting point is 01:34:56 No, because I actually think his Instagram bio is spot on. I think he is inevitable. And I think laughing at it or mocking it or doubting that is crazy. And is to ignore the realities of what you see with a great offensive coach and a great physical talent who continues to get better year over year over year. Like he – this is now the company he keeps because he got his 50th career touchdown. in this game. To reach 50 career passing touchdowns with fewer than 15 interceptions, NFL history, it's Mahomes, Lamar, and Caleb Williams. It's pretty good company. And in year one, he took 68 sacks. A historic number
Starting point is 01:35:41 hadn't seen it in 20 years. In year two, he eliminates it and goes down to 24 sacks. And that with what Brewer was talking about, the operations was like the priorities of last year. And then all offseason, it was accuracy completion. Accuracy, efficiency, completion, percentage. Let's update where Caleb Williams is right now among league leaders in completion percentage. It's number one. No one is completing more passes at a higher efficiency clip. Again, missed time, so not as many pass attempts, but he has thrown enough to qualify.
Starting point is 01:36:12 So whatever the weakness is, he improves on it and attacks it. He has insane physical ability. And in year two of Ben Johnson, year three in the league, yes, in two of the, three games and 500 flights, Brian Flores, defense, bad weather, whatever, I am guessing that that game is going to be the extreme outlier in the negative direction this year, and Caleb
Starting point is 01:36:34 is going to be consistently excellent. You said you can't expect him to be? I expect him to be consistently excellent this year. I mostly agree with that. Which I said, you know, going into this year, I said, Mahomes Lamar were my top two
Starting point is 01:36:50 predictions for preseason MVP. But Caleb was bouncing around, in there. And one of the biggest reasons I didn't have him was because I was concerned if their defense would be so bad they didn't get the requisite wins. Like it's hard to win MVP is a wild card. Those things. So I believe in a lot of that.
Starting point is 01:37:08 It's why what I said last week I feel so strongly about and why what leading into the game. And it's not because my voice was included in it. But we can play his little. This wasn't an Instagram. It wasn't a friendster. It was a TikTok. I don't know how many social media platforms I need to have to be able to argue the bears with you. Okay, great.
Starting point is 01:37:30 But I evidently need to add you. I evidently, I don't know if that's true. I definitely need to add one. Here was the TikTok, at least part of it right before the game. It off in tears. Gives the thumbs up to the crowd like, all walk again. And it's like, might play Monday. Like, come on now.
Starting point is 01:37:48 I don't think being that aware and that online is helpful. and I don't based on what? I feel like you need to at least describe the clip that was after that. The clip from the bear where Carrey was...
Starting point is 01:38:02 Oh, yeah, then there's a clip from the bear where the guy curses and then it's... Yeah, he's like I decided to... To say, screw it? Yeah, basically screw it. It felt like you were... It felt like you were inspiring Caleb.
Starting point is 01:38:16 And then it was a highlight reel of past greatness. You say based on what? Yeah. All of human history. That's not true. Since there has been this level, this new media, social media, you can't find me an instance where someone who achieved super high success when they're like, so what was the key to it?
Starting point is 01:38:41 It's like, well, let me tell you, I was super online reading people talk trash about me. That's not it. But when you say, I hear you, I think some people can't handle that. I said it last week. I think Durant is an example of a guy that can read all the negative stuff. I don't know if that's been good for him. He hasn't affected his play. I mean, I think the argument is Caleb is a generation younger than Durant.
Starting point is 01:39:09 And this is just like. Did it impact him yesterday? That's what I'm saying. Like the back page of like the Boston Globe and Ted Williams. He's like, actually this fuels me. It makes me more awesome. Okay. That he is the signature athlete of the.
Starting point is 01:39:23 I, I, once upon a time, I might have been the single most optimistic person about Caleb Williams in the entire media. I, I gotten so many fights with you guys about Mahomes Mountain because I agree with so much of what you're saying about him. There are very few things that I think can derail that work ethic, that natural ability, that talent. One of the things that I would fear could would be getting too inside your head. And that was my concern, and I don't think being extra online and then telling Maria Taylor,
Starting point is 01:40:00 you had a conversation with a movie character. No, his friend, he didn't. Somebody was, that somebody talked to John Wick, which I still don't totally understand. Those are the only, that to me is a red flag, not in a way. I don't care about the fingernail polish. I don't care about the emotions. That stuff is not, I don't think it's helpful for him. That's all.
Starting point is 01:40:20 We can, maybe I'll be wrong. I don't know we can disagree yeah Thursday night Patriots bears who you're a little scared delicious no I think I have a healthy amount of fear for Ben Johnson's offense and Caleb okay I think that's are you confident in your team I'm confident yes but I think I think it'd be foolish they're like we're not playing the jets I think it's interesting that you guys it's been a long time since you've won a championship so I think there's a level of like you guys are certainly an emotional team where we are kind of like we want a game what's next and you guys have like a little party well it's been i mean i would that was there any o'nall yeah it was not a j brown who's won a championship well mike rable is one of those i was talking about the players well you come into the building you look around okay i don't i think the yankees
Starting point is 01:41:13 i don't know you feel like the yankees that certainly helped in the last 15 years definitely i think it matters i i i i'm right we were getting sidetracked i don't think it's okay so if there's guys on the Chiefs who haven't won, do they don't have the feel like the winning culture? Yeah, you don't think they feel it as much as the guys who have one. That is correct. That is correct. Maybe the Patriots and the Bears are the same. Maybe the Yankees and the Brewers. All right, news out of L.A., this is not good. Rams are two and four. They're in the last place in the NFC West, and now we got news on this injury from Devante Adams. Here's the Holy from Schaefter.
Starting point is 01:41:50 Wow. They just told reporters that Devante Adams ruptured his handstring, and that will be sidelined six to ten weeks. Your reaction to this breaking news. Can I give you extra news? Yeah. More news?
Starting point is 01:42:06 Groupie, the kicker, torn ACL. Oof. Puna Ford, torn triceps. Kobe Turner, four to six weeks with something, I'm not sure what. Groin. Four to six weeks with the groin. So a loss with a lot of significant injuries.
Starting point is 01:42:21 Go ahead. No, I mean, listen, they're two and four, and now they're getting injured, and we don't know when Miles Garrett is going to come back, and when Miles Garrett comes back, what version of him he is going to be. So it's definitely panic time, and that was a continuation of a string of really bad losses. Before I got the details of that news, I was prepared to come out here and ask you guys whether or not coaches can slum.
Starting point is 01:42:47 because it feels like Sean McVeigh isn't a slump. Because he's a great coach, and now he's got to overcome this. But the Niners game, he puts it on himself for the travel. They blow a 16-point second-half lead to Denver. He relies on special teams and settles for the 48-yard field goal when he ends up cut in his kicker the next day against Buffalo. Special teams didn't lose them that game yesterday. Certainly didn't help.
Starting point is 01:43:12 Kicker gets hurt because they give up another long return. He botched the end of the game situationally. I'm going to talk about that. The office is very unbalanced. Exactly. You give up the long return on a unit that you don't care about, so your kicker has to make a tackle, so then your backup kicker gets hurt,
Starting point is 01:43:28 and then you have to go for two earlier in the game than you would want to. And then... They're not running the ball a lot either. Not running the ball. I just want to show you two plays from yesterday. Two last possessions, how the last two ended. One of them, the fullback died. This is fourth night.
Starting point is 01:43:42 The fullback died happened before this. But so they get a penalty on fourth and three to put it back to fourth and eight. So you would think basically game on the line here. I'm going to get Sean McVeigh's best play. Fourth and eight, Matt Stafford, Pukin-Kua, Devante's out at this point. Let's see what they run. Let's see what they run in this spot. A screen into traffic, four yards behind the line of scrimmage on fourth and eight.
Starting point is 01:44:09 A wild play call given what had been happening. earlier. And I understand the left side of your offensive line was not good. I thought that was insane in real time. But then your defense gets the ball back. And you get all the way down the field because of the huge completion. And it's second and three and you have two timeouts and you're at the six yard line. Just have to run the ball. Thank you. You just have there's 100% of that when the Cardinals have zero time out. Thank you. This is a 100% of the time run the ball spot because you can still do everything. And that and you can, it's not like running the
Starting point is 01:44:43 ball means you can't score. Kyron Williams averages five yards of carry. You're at the six yard line. You're not giving anything up there. It's a wild call to pass it. And then, you know, in the Bears game, Roshan Johnson could have had the touchdown to score 38 and he takes the dive late. There's an argument that Parkinson should go down.
Starting point is 01:44:59 That's too much to ask to the player. I agree. John McVeages needs to call a run there. I agree. But the Cardinals celebrate when this gets overturned to be a touchdown for the Rams. So how many of the four losses? before all of these injuries is on McVeigh. Two and a half?
Starting point is 01:45:17 You can put a lot. You can put a lot on it. It's just he's a great coach. I'm not saying he should be fired. If he was fired, 20 teams would fire their coach to hire him. He's great. But it's been a horrible start to the year for him. No, it's been bad.
Starting point is 01:45:30 And I mean, Stafford has been good, but not great. Yep. Aaron Donald hasn't had the impact you expected. Obviously, Miles Garrett's out. I think another thing with McVeigh is, The play call has been completely unbalanced. And I agree. That screen call on fourth and eight, I thought was terrible.
Starting point is 01:45:49 So he's struggling. I brought up earlier, Danny. He had talked about retirement. So did Stafford. Donald did retire. And are they quite, it might even be subconscious, as motivated as, you know, you have been in the past.
Starting point is 01:46:04 And so maybe that's impacting them as well. But they're in trouble, especially with Adams. I know when Puka was out, they were fine with just the one-star receiver. But I feel like this is huge. In the red zone, we know how big Devante is. They're really in trouble. Absolutely.
Starting point is 01:46:25 But if Matthew Stafford is healthy and this team misses the playoffs, it is one of the biggest catastrophes in recent NFL history. that this team that was the biggest Super Bowl favorite we had seen in forever. Barnwell wrote that long article about the biggest Super Bowl favorites and how none of them win the Super Bowl.
Starting point is 01:46:50 But it wasn't a bunch of them missing the postseason and the ones that did. It was because the quarterback went down. I understand Miles Garrett's been out. One of the reasons teams are hesitant to trade young rising star players plus draft capital for a player
Starting point is 01:47:10 past 30 is because players past 30 sometimes miss time. Like they have put, I haven't even, I don't think anybody has even considered the idea that the pick they gave up for Miles Garrett might end up being a good pick. Everyone's like, okay, so they traded Jaredverse plus what will be the 29, 31, 32 picks, something like that. Not necessarily. That could be the 12th pick in the draft. Right.
Starting point is 01:47:34 And so I just, and I am always worried about Puka. Forget even any off the field. stuff. Put that in a separate bucket. Just play style? Yeah. I mean, he had 24 targets a week ago. And I mean, they blocks linebackers and defense line. I mean, he plays such a tough hard-nosed style and they use
Starting point is 01:47:52 him so much. It just seems like a hard way to get through 18 weeks. Was anyone really ready to write off the ramp? Well, no. I mean, right off, no. But I think they're a coin flip now. We have their schedule. I assume, like, the saving grace is the schedule on paper is easy. The bad argument for that is. Maybe you get the Cardinals.
Starting point is 01:48:10 Right, you just lost to the Cardinals. Exactly. But on paper, you can find a... The schedule is not easy. From week 12 on, that's a bear. Packers. Yeah, I mean... Packers with Micah, probably. Packers, Chiefs, Niners, that last row.
Starting point is 01:48:29 And then two games against Seattle? They need to, I mean, basically go four and O into the bottom. They need to go four and a lot. Cowboys will be rolling by then. To be six and four, start getting some guys back. But if they're five and five going into the buy, I'm ready to just say they're done. Five and five. Yeah, I'd say.
Starting point is 01:48:47 They're two and four. Yeah. Five and five is, I would be rooting for five and five. Well, that's what the, the upcoming schedule with these guys out is pretty soft on paper. All right. Coming up next, what was Parkins headline for Chargers and Chiefs? Here's what it is. And what's going on with Jessica?
Starting point is 01:49:04 NHF. Not his fault. You see that 57-yard pass? Not his fault. We're going to show it. They were worse than. Welcome back to the OT. We got some scary news out of Philadelphia where Jalen Hertz who did not play in yesterday's
Starting point is 01:49:19 loss of the Panthers. Now out for the season after blood clots were found in his lungs. The Eagles and Jalen Hertz's agent, Nicole Lynn, released a joint statement earlier today saying that Hertz will go on blood thinners and they expect a full recovery. Jalen will quote, remain active around the team and continue to condition. More importantly, we anticipate that he will have no long-term effects. We are thinking of Jalen and looking forward to a strong recovery. And now just over an hour ago, Nick Siriani had a press conference,
Starting point is 01:49:52 and now he was asked by the Philadelphia media. And in this exchange from Jeff McLean, one of their top beat reporters, if he was briefed on the decision to let Jalen Hertz fly back from London despite the blood clot. Take a listen. Yeah, guys, yeah, guys, I talked to them about. Can you give us the information? I, guys, I talk to the guys. Hey, Jeff.
Starting point is 01:50:10 As a spokesman of the team, we're just hoping you give us some information for the public. Thank you. Guys, I've addressed this. I've talked to you guys about this. Again, the medical experts are there. And I think I've answered this question multiple times. We put out a statement for you guys to hear, put out multiple statements for you guys to hear. And so, and I told you guys that last week that I was going to live.
Starting point is 01:50:37 leave it at that of where, you know, where we were on that because we put out a detailed statement for you guys to hear and to understand. A lot of twists and turns to this story, Coach. What's your reaction? Well, I think, first of all, he's not a doctor. And to ask him to put another statement out or to push more information out, I don't think that's necessarily fair. And I understand people want answers. But whatever they've said, organizationally, is pretty much where he's going to be. And at the end of the day, as a head coach, you do have to defer to the medical staff on decisions and process and all of those things. It's scary to have a situation like this. It's scary to think about what could have happened. But again, as you go through
Starting point is 01:51:29 the preparation and the decision-making process, the players involved with that, the coaching staffs involved with that, the trainer, the doctor, everybody is involved. in those things and you try to make the best decision that you can. And I'm sure now Jalen has probably got some other opinions and maybe the opinions are different and he's making the best decision that he can, not just short term, but long term as well. Yeah, it's obviously, you know, first and foremost, a thoughts and prayer situation, right? Like, it's a potentially life-threatening situation and you take it seriously and you hope that Jalen hurts is going to be okay.
Starting point is 01:52:06 and it becomes larger than football in that standpoint. And these are weird topics because, like, we're not doctors and we are not, we are dealing with very limited information here. So I will not speculate on that. I guess what I will do is just having covered this type of thing a lot, just like a lot of different types of sports stories. I'll offer a few, like, media observations. Okay.
Starting point is 01:52:27 One, a lot of people seem to be questioning, I think, fairly, like the timeline of events. and if the Eagles did something wrong. Certainly possible, certainly worth looking into. The fact that the Eagles and Jalen Hertz's agent released joint statements tells me that at least at this point, Jalen Hertz's team does not feel like the Eagles did him wrong.
Starting point is 01:52:53 Right. Or else those statements would come from a different place. And it was obvious why they did that to make sure that everybody understood that both sides of this saw it the same way. even, not even the initial statement from the agent, but Tom Pelliserro had put out, you know, that how much Jalen Hertz loves football and, you know, 36 hours with no sleep. And then he puts, well, then he issued a clarifying tweet to this where he came out and he was like, actually,
Starting point is 01:53:20 I just spoke to Nicole Lynn. And, you know, he actually did get some sleep. He was just at the hospital until early Sunday morning. Then they gave him a room. And then, you know, video showed him coming out. And that backtracking from Pelliserro, came basically right as Nick Siriani was starting his press conference today. And Nick Siriani, I watched the press conference, he kept statement. I'm going back to the statement. I'm not a medical expert. Like he's a little CYA situation.
Starting point is 01:53:49 Like I'm not going to speak out of school beyond what our statement is. Why would that be CYA? I don't think that's CYA. I think that's this is what the information is. I as a coach do not have any more information because I am not a doctor. Sure. So I don't see it as CYAS. He has keeping the message consistent because he can't add any expertise to it.
Starting point is 01:54:13 So that brings me to the last point. You could make your team doctor available. You don't have to. And Jalen could say that he doesn't want to. But like there are, how much sleep did he get? Was he not supposed to, why did Tom Pelliserro get the report that he was advised not to sleep, but he was allowed to play football? He had a blood clop and he was allowed to get back on a flight.
Starting point is 01:54:34 You could make the team doctor available to answer some questions about this sort of thing. With medical issues, those things with HIPAA and different things, that's not information that is generally shared and team doctors aren't typically made available. I mean, it's happened plenty of times where doctors and trainers address situations to the media to offer them to clarity. One that in the recent future or recent past, can you think of one that I can't think of one that I can't think of one that stands out? We've seen plenty of situations where the team will come out and answer to their best of their ability, what's going on with the situation. And I just, I think that it is the type of thing where I hope that everything is good for Jalen's sake going forward. And now his season is over. And the Eagles season is obviously in a really tough spot.
Starting point is 01:55:21 And, you know, hopefully he's back playing football next year. It'll just be interesting to see how much more reporting on the timeline comes out on this, I would say. Yeah. And it seems like they're working. together and there's a there's a goal to make sure that everybody has the consistent message. Yeah. And there's not a message from Jalen's camp and the Eagles and everybody else is just speculating. All right. So as we move on here to Kansas City and get back on the field from a busy NFL Sunday, the Chiefs are 5 and 0 with a win over the 0.6 charges. Kenneth Walker, you'd think he's making an MVP case, maybe an offensive player of the year case, another 128 yards on the ground with two touchdowns.
Starting point is 01:56:02 semi-quiet day for Mahomes, but with the win, he now ties Tom Brady as the fastest quarterback to get to 100 wins, not bad, 131 games to get there. Coach, do you have any big takeaways from a pretty methodical, if not sloppy, Chiefs win over the Chargers? Yeah, it's pretty lucky they were playing the Chargers. They made a lot of mistakes. So whether it was the pick in the end zone, stopped in fourth and one from the one-yard line, then they stopped the Chargers, than the Chargers punt, and they fumbled the ensuing punt. It's the problems they had overall in short yardage offense. It's a guy getting thrown out of the game.
Starting point is 01:56:44 There were a lot of mistakes in this game that, thankfully, they were playing a team that they could beat comfortably and was more than willing to make more mistakes than Kansas City did. And the other part of this is Kenneth Walker just keeps cementing how valuable he is. And it's pretty bad news for the rest of the AFC because Patrick Mahomes gets better, the young defense gets better, and it's not going to get easier for anybody who's playing him. Yeah, my chief's side of it was a big win without playing well. You could just take that, you could say that that shows how dominant they can be or that they're not very dominant. Like Nick says they're dominant. I looked at it and it was like they're pretty sloppy and they're pretty lucky that they were playing the charts.
Starting point is 01:57:32 Yeah, miss PAT, miss fuel goal. Correct. I felt like that was a game that could confirm your priors, and then we're going to get to see as the schedule gets tougher, and they play Seattle and they play the better teams. We're going to get to actually see how dominant the chiefs are, but they're 5-0 and they're humming, so, you know, they're obviously a contender. I am very surprised that the Chargers haven't announced by this time that Mike McDaniel is at least not calling plays, if not outright fired.
Starting point is 01:58:00 because the Chargers thing is just it is just flatly not working the season, you're 0 and 6 no 0 and 5 team has ever made the playoffs your 0 and 6 your schedule is brutal you've got a bye week coming up you can't score you can't run the ball you're
Starting point is 01:58:15 injured again you get the Rams the Texans and the Ravens out of the by so you're staring 0 and 9 in the face like it feels like if not now when and you know I have to everyone on the internet and around the other.
Starting point is 01:58:31 Danny, when are you going to abandon Justin Herbert? I will never abandon Justin Herbert's talent, and there was a play in this game that still shows it. If we could show this pass, 57 yards down to the goal line, on a rope, evading pressure to his left, I know that that play can't be called up 100 times in the game, and it's about the rudimentary
Starting point is 01:58:56 and just executing and moving the ball down the field. But I don't believe that the monsters from Space Jam have just come down and zapped Justin Herbert of his ability to be a great football player. Because after that play, it's a run, it's a penalty, and it's an incompletion where it goes right through Ronde Gadsden's hands, and then another incompletion and they have to settle for a field goal. They're letting him down still, and he's still an amazing player in there. He just isn't doing it this year, and I think that that speaks to the broken levels of the organization more so than him in the aggregate. He hasn't been good enough, but they are still letting him down. Yeah, so this is all new territory for Jim Harbaugh, right? He's never been in that situation in his coaching career, so he's navigating through this as well.
Starting point is 01:59:40 Right, he's never been 0.3, and now he's own six. He's 0.6. And remember, this is a new offensive coordinator that he's working for or working with, and we weren't sure how the marriage was going to go. We all assumed it would go well. and even if you move on from Mike McDaniel, Jim's been there. Adam Gase has been there. They've all been part of this process.
Starting point is 02:00:03 So it's saying that we're going to just take this piece out and suddenly everything else is going to gel. I know that people want some type of change and some type of change is going to have to come. It would be different, I think, if he were on the defensive side of the ball and was making this change. But he's been in those meetings.
Starting point is 02:00:21 They've all been part of this, and this is the product. product is unwatchable. Coming up, the two-minute drill. I'm going to get Coach to say something positive about Caleb Williams. And what is going on with Dallas's offense? I don't know. Get some cleats that work. They're slipping and sliding all over the field last night.
Starting point is 02:00:39 Cats just kept falling down. That's the issue. It was crazy. Whole game. Thanks for hanging out with the OT. Let's get right to the two-minute drill, where we start in Chicago. Great return by the Iceman. 30 of 36 passing, 30-5.
Starting point is 02:00:54 yards and a touchdown from Caleb Williams. Lightwork, 31 23 win over the Falcons. Coach, two minutes on the clock here. I will seat all my time to you as long as you're speaking positively. What statements did the Bears and Caleb make? I was really happy for Caleb Williams. Victory! I was very, to be able to come back from his injury, complete his first 12 passes, to have as an efficient a game as he did. And the one thing that I constantly talked about is could he hit the layups? Could he make the easy throws? He, he'd see. team to do that throughout the course of the game. Then his other numbers, nine for 17 down third down, four for five in the red zone.
Starting point is 02:01:32 It's hard to do to a, come back from injury and go 12 for 12 on your first 12 throws. But then also not to be so hyped up that you're rushing things or trying to make something happen. That was a really nice balance for him and a very positive step for the Bears. We talked a lot about in the off season. And you were just, you're saying that I was kind of like hoping for until I saw the improvement.
Starting point is 02:01:59 And I was like, well, in year one, he took too many sacks. And then he erased that in year two. Went from 68 sacks down to 24. So I was like, why would I not think that the completion percentage would improve from year two to year three when they made that the point of emphasis? I want to just show coach currently the league leaders in completion percentage, Christina. Because it's Brock Purdy. it's Joe Burrow and the suspense is building
Starting point is 02:02:26 for who's at the top. I don't know. Caleb Williams leading the league in completion percentage. Dare I say he's inevitable? I don't think we can go inevitable yet. It was a really positive game.
Starting point is 02:02:40 That's for the season. I understand how many games did he miss? He's missed three. Oh, okay. It's just half the season. It's just half the season. Okay, so let's let's see whether we can string a few of them together.
Starting point is 02:02:51 Okay. In ideal weather conditions, but a 59 and 31. Right, I forgot. I just said, don't forget about the 500 flights canceled out of Chicago. That was a challenging day. It was a very challenging day. Let's go to Dallas in the game last night. Cowboys, now 2 and 4, 23, 13 loss to the Packers. Honestly, could have been worse.
Starting point is 02:03:12 Not the best showing by a team who coins their offense Gotti. This is a layup for you, Coach. Are you shocked by Dallas's offensive struggles? when this happened and we talked about it, you loved it. You love the gaudy thing. You love the T-shirts. You love the alarm clock. You love the throwback hats.
Starting point is 02:03:28 All that stuff. And what I kept saying is, why add pressure to the situation? So they come out. It's not what they hoped it would be. And instead of trying to maybe reel it back in, they're doubling down. They're doubling down. So let me show you their run-pass ratio last year versus this year to get a sense of what they've done. So last year is 41.5% rush, 58.5% pass.
Starting point is 02:03:52 Now look at how skewed it is at 32 versus 67. Be the highest team in what, eight years? Okay, so now let's talk about Dak Prescott throwing, attempting 40 or more passes. This is what's happened. So it happens seven times in 2019, 5 in 2021, 4 in 2025, four times already in 2026, the last four games in a row. What's his record when he attempts 40 plus passes? 11, 22, and 1.
Starting point is 02:04:19 What's your guy shot in him are doing? To me, this is not, there's got to be balanced. I get that you've got great receivers. I get that you've got great weapons. But if everybody just sits there and tease off on your offensive linemen because seven out of ten times you're going to pass, then it's a problem. They're not built from an offensive line standpoint
Starting point is 02:04:39 to be a drop-back passing team 50 times a game. They've got big physical offensive linemen, give them a chance to go block someone and add some variation to the offense. It was such a disappointing performance. They had the rest advantage. They had gotten embarrassed against Tampa last Thursday. I really thought they were going to come out
Starting point is 02:04:59 and have a better offensive showing there. And I know I said it before the break, and you were joking. The whole game, the Cowboys players were slipping all over the field. Receivers, linemen, special teams, pass rusher. I mean, it led directly to the Red Zone interception on the one to CD or I guess they were just outside the red zone if you would have caught it. They would have been inside
Starting point is 02:05:18 the red zone. Medical equipment staff. Change the cleats. Packers weren't slipping. You get to walk the field before the game. It was. You have extra cleats. You have plenty of opportunity to fix that problem. And it was the same for every player on the field. It was driving me insane. It was only happening for Dallas.
Starting point is 02:05:36 It was all night. Let's go into the... Run the ball. That would help too. Let's go into the winning locker room there. Packers come out victorious 2313. Did not even take a huge offensive explosion to do it. The question here with two minutes on the clock, what did you learn from the Packers? And I'm going to go first because I did not have them in the playoffs. I know I get accused of a bias there as being a Bears fan. I thought that they were too reliant on that guy, Jordan Love,
Starting point is 02:06:02 and that they didn't have enough defensively outside of Micah Parsons. But Jordan Love, a little bit of a sputter early, but he's figured out how to play with no running game, getting Matthew Golden involved with Tucker Craft is there, Matthew Golden's there. Christian Watson's there. Those are elite pass catchers. He's dropping dimes all over the field.
Starting point is 02:06:23 Their safeties are excellent. And if we show Green Bay's defense, we kind of get big impressions when teams are on national TV because it's standalone. Our first impression of their defense on national TV is that Atlanta game, when they get skewered when Pennix comes back. The three games since, and I know it's Jalen, Daniels, Tyson, Baygent,
Starting point is 02:06:42 and then Dak last night, their defense is proving that it's going to to be good enough and their two biggest issues rushing the ball and rushing the passer, they're going to get Josh Jacobs and Micah Parsons back. There's no reason Green Bay can't be in competition for the second best team in the NFC. They're good. I think you're being a little kind based off of that performance yesterday. Really?
Starting point is 02:07:04 Jordan Love, 23 for 41 for 276 yards, a touchdown in a pick, a 74.8 quarterback rating. He had two touchdowns dropped. Hold on a second. They ran the ball for a 2.2 yard average. Okay, so I mean, it is the whole, the whole team. Yeah. Where they were really good is they were 11 for 18 on third down.
Starting point is 02:07:22 That, to me, was the difference in the game. But they're not going against a defense that's highly regarded here, and they struggle. He got bailed out on the interception because that came back and threw an interception on the next drive. Yeah. That was almost a pick six. I thought it was a pick six. I thought it was a pick six, too, but they're getting the down by contact. And then the other thing that's an issue for Green Bay is 11 penalties.
Starting point is 02:07:44 Listen, the penalties, I'm not going to, the Bears had a ton of penalties. I'm going to, we'll see if that becomes a theme over the course of the whole season. But there were dropped touchdowns last night. They're going to get healthier. I liked what I saw from Green Bay. Let's wrap up the two minute drill in Buffalo. Another shootout win for the bills, 33 to 30, one of the plays of the year from Josh Allen, who had 255 yards and two touchdowns. But again, heavily reliant on Josh.
Starting point is 02:08:10 Coach, can the bills keep winning this way with relying on Josh? Which was the play of the year where he flipped the ball? Yeah. You loved it, didn't you? I mean, of course. Yeah. How did, listen, oh, stop. Do you hate fun?
Starting point is 02:08:22 No. What do I mean? You guys, you guys hold the ball like it's a basketball. Exactly. And then he flips it backhand, 20 yards in the air. Give him an out of boy. And so a few weeks ago, when he threw the interception against postman coverage, so a receiver that's got a lead position, you're like, that's crazy.
Starting point is 02:08:42 I can't believe you'd make that decision. That was the fight. And you were saying, why would you put the game in jeopardy? But he makes a play like this, which works. So therefore it must be a great play. You have me confused with the other. I have you confused. No, I didn't have a problem.
Starting point is 02:08:59 To live by the Josh, die by the Josh. That's how it works. And you're going to hope that he's going to get hot for three or four games in the playoffs. And when you was Super Bowl is the most talented player in football. And yeah, you're going to live with some interceptions if he's going to be able to make plays like that. That's how it works. So this play was a terrible play because it didn't work. I didn't say that.
Starting point is 02:09:18 It's post safety. The receipt is got a lead position. He breaks the sack. But everybody hates that and criticize him. And then you give him an out of boy. And I'm not just saying you, but even from a coaching perspective, they talked to the head coach. He said, that's just the way the plague was called. And he laughed about it.
Starting point is 02:09:34 And he said, you know, it's one of those things where you can't criticize the guy when he makes a play like this for the interception. If you're going to give him all kinds of love. Are you honestly saying that if he was your quarterback and that happened and you were in film review the next day, this would not be like a check mark in the positive? What I'm saying is that they've lost games because of mistakes that he's made when he took too many chances. So at some point, you've got to figure out where you want to be on that spectrum of, and it's not fair to a player if you say this is great, but then criticize him on the play from people. No, I'll live with the interception against New England for getting that play too because he's my best player. And if that's the world you want to live in, then I'm okay with it. That's exactly where I want to live.
Starting point is 02:10:15 Live and die with Josh Allen. We'll get a home with Barty Trophy eventually. Any chance the Niners are an upset alert tonight against Jaden Daniels? We're going to. It's next on the O.T. Welcome back to the O.T. Jaden Daniels arriving for Monday night football as a more than seven and a half point. Not more than.
Starting point is 02:10:33 Exactly. I was going to say more than a touchdown. Doesn't matter. You see it right there. Seven and a half point underdog. Coach, you're given Jaden and the commanders any chance. pulling off the upset? A hundred percent.
Starting point is 02:10:42 A hundred percent? Yes. You said, am I giving me a 100 percent? I'm giving a chance to pull it off. You saw Drake May have a really good game this weekend. You saw Caleb have a really good game this weekend. Why can't this be Jaden Daniels?
Starting point is 02:10:56 Really good game. Oh, just like the draft class? Yeah, the whole class. Well, most of the class. I said Michael Pennix. He didn't have quite as good a day. Bowenicks on Thursday. But I'm going to go with those two.
Starting point is 02:11:07 Okay, yeah, select the other two. Selective endpoints? Yeah, well, I went with the three highest, right? Yeah, you did. Okay. Jaden had over 100 rushing yards last week. Like, he, before he hurt his elbow. He was 150 tonight.
Starting point is 02:11:21 Well, that's what I'm saying. Like, San Francisco's been good defending mobile quarterbacks, but obviously it's a unique skill set and speed. It'll be, that's the thing I'm most looking forward to. Like, can he have another huge game on the ground against that defense? I think the Niners are going to win, but I love that matchup. Are they underestimating that can be the problem, too? Always an option.
Starting point is 02:11:41 We'll be back tomorrow with more first things first.
