Starting point is 00:00:00 Live from New York, it's the show that it's just power path. We're off tomorrow, so we jammed in all of our segments to today's show, A-plus show coming up. A lot of segments. You know, it's nice, people miss us. It's nice that they miss us being on, but it's sad that we won't know it for it. Well, you know what? Some of the viewers.
Starting point is 00:00:22 We have some quirks in the schedule because of the upcoming baseball playoffs on Fox. It's not our phone. No, but. I kicked around with the digital team. Maybe we are on a different platform. I'll do whatever. Listen, Brew might have plenty.
Starting point is 00:00:39 We are contracted to work. I didn't tell anybody. I also have good news for you because I know Tuesday I annoyed you a bit. What's the Tuesday are you talking about? Two days ago. Oh. Because when we were supposed to be on the air, but we weren't. Around 3.30, I just started firing off takes in the group text because my body
Starting point is 00:00:59 At some point, I was like, brew, please weigh in with an emoji to get him off my back. You don't have to worry about that tomorrow. Why? He's going to be playing. I'll be in Las Vegas. I'll be in Las Vegas, so don't you worry. I'm going to start hammering you like. See the update?
Starting point is 00:01:18 First hour first thing starts, first up, which superstar quarterback has a matchup with Josh Allen? And he may have straight up falling off the mountain. Oh, my. Find out on Mahomes. coming up. Meanwhile, the hottest segment in all of sports. Upset Alert and Nick's picks. Controversial upset alert incoming. One. I'm a little bit upset at the producers for not flagging something for me.
Starting point is 00:01:42 And finally, the most motivational segment in all sports, it's the Bud List. Alongside Nick Wright and Kevin Wilde drew anyone on the bubble of the Budlis. Yeah, who wasn't? I was concerned. I can't remember, but I can't. I settled on four, actually. Four. So they're probably, I'll tell you. J-Lo. Jordan Love was on. But it's not really his fault what's going on.
Starting point is 00:02:03 It's not his fault. I mean, he can play better, but he's the least of their worth. Those good, hardworking people of Green Day didn't pay for those certificates to have their quarterback not playing. I love it. That's your little hobby horse. I mean, it's just extortion. They're just like, hey, guys, got to pay Jordan Love another $400 for this thing to put on the wall. You owe the team.
Starting point is 00:02:25 We should get one. Do we get to go to the meetings? No. No. anything? Of course not. How many, can you do like a leveraged buy out and buy most of the Packers? Yes, you could buy most of the certificates. You know that gets you nothing at all. If you buy 51% of the
Starting point is 00:02:40 Packers, do I own the Packers? Nope. Why not? That's how it works. Nice bragging right. I think that's how you like buy Verizon. Yeah, the Packers is a different deal. Great. I didn't know that. Starting in Dallas, Joey Porter Jr. Joining the Cowboys in a trade that sends a sixth next year in a 2028 second round pick to the Steelers.
Starting point is 00:03:00 Joey Porter on Instagram, on social media. He has a photo says, here I come, Dallas, and then he put the Webster's dictionary term for seatbelt. When you're covered, I actually thought it was a device in your automobile. Cowboys underdogs against the winless Texans Sunday at one. Schefter says, there's a chance he might suit up. That back injury, wow. Unbelieve. You know what, it's that Texas heat.
Starting point is 00:03:27 Yeah. You get down there. sudden you loosen up. Rudy, you have more faith in your Cowboys Super Bowl pick after this transaction. With all due respect to Joy Porter Jr., it would take him, his dad, and his fellow Penn State
Starting point is 00:03:45 alum's, Mikea Parsons and Saquine, Parsons and Sequine Barkley, going to the Cowboys for me to feel better about my Super Bowl pick. Right now, it's not looking great. There's a little hope. They just play. The Super winner type, but they love. There's a little light and they're in a bad division, apparently.
Starting point is 00:04:04 So a little light at the end of the tunnel. But I do like this, though. Okay. Good move. I mean, I know the reports are that they haven't agreed or even talked about the contract extension that he, you know, got him so upset with the Steelers. And so you assume, though, that they're going to pay him long term.
Starting point is 00:04:24 So they got a lot of money in that defense, which is like bottom of the league right now. But just strictly for football reasons right now, cornerback was one of their weaknesses. I mean, the whole defense is pretty weak, but cornerback may have been their worst. They got some injuries now. Kobe Durant probably won't play this next game.
Starting point is 00:04:44 So he could end up being their best corner, at least for a while. So I do think it should improve their defense. I'll say that. So I think it's a good move. They're all in this year. It's Super Bowl or bust this year. And so I think it makes them better. I know there's some long-term ramifications too, but yeah, I'm not like it.
Starting point is 00:05:04 I acknowledge that Joey Porter Jr. will add more value to the 2026 Dallas Cowboys than two future draft picks who are currently in college and not playing for the 2026 Dallas Cowboys. So in that regard, obviously, definitely, this year's team did get somewhat better. How much is probably determined based on how good you think Joey Porter's. junior is. I think he is a good player. I don't think he is a great player. Maybe he will turn into a great player. But so, yes, obviously for the next dozen games or so, the Cowboys got better. However, this is the rare. Sometimes there are trades and I'm like, I think this is a win-win. I think both teams are better off because of this. I feel like this is the rare lose-lose.
Starting point is 00:05:58 transaction. Don't lose. Wow. And I don't want to be overly negative and I don't want to harp on the past. But this is now the final tally
Starting point is 00:06:08 of the Micah Parsons trade. And I just want to make it clear to the audience the Cowboys had a game changing defensive player that they did not think was worth $46 million a year. So they traded him away
Starting point is 00:06:25 for two first round picks. They have since then sent one first round pick and two second round picks for two non-game-changing defensive players who are good but not great, great players. It's Quina Williams on the borderline. Who they are going to end up paying after not wanting to pay Mike a $46 million a year, a combined thereabouts $66 million a year. That's disastrous. And I know they're saying we haven't, you know, oh, there's no deal with Joey Porter. I haven't talked about it. You don't trade a future second round pick for a guy to play for you for two-thirds of a season.
Starting point is 00:07:04 You do it because you're going to sign him to a deal that Steelers didn't want to. That's going to be around. It might not be the highest cornerback deal, but it'll be around $30 million. You're paying Quinn and Williams, $35 million, all in trying to fix a defense that was broken by trading away Micah. So in that regard, I think the Cowboys process has been a huge mistake. The Steelers have this old rule of we won't guarantee money outside of year one of a deal to anyone but a quarterback. They've broken it one time. They did it for T.J. Watt.
Starting point is 00:07:45 They won't break it for anyone else, which has now put them in the bizarre position of it hurts them to draft excellent players. because guess what excellent players expect on their second deals, guarantees into the future. And they have, listen, I thought Joey Porter, Jr. Maybe overplayed his hand a bit again. I don't think he is, he's not to use a different corner that just got traded. Trent McDuffie level player.
Starting point is 00:08:11 I don't think anybody thinks that in the trade wasn't that level of compensation. But the Steelers refusal to do business like modern NFL teams is going, like they had reasons to move on from Pickens because of, behavioral or personality. But again, some of that was, we're not going to, we don't want to guarantee him money. He's going to want guaranteed money. Joey Porter Jr. has done nothing but be a good
Starting point is 00:08:35 to very good player for them. We don't want to guarantee. We don't want to do the contracts every other team does. That seems like the Steelers are stuck in the past and the Cowboys are chasing a mistake. So again, if you're a Cowboys fan, your team got better for this season and this season only, but you're still band-dating.
Starting point is 00:08:53 the wound from when you shot yourself. And that to me is, you know, not great. And a lot of people, and I think maybe in the offseason, people were, I was not looking at it like this, but a lot of people were looking at it like, you know, okay, we don't have Micah, but we added Kenny Clark and Quinn and Williams, and now you got Joey Porter Jr. They're still not better. I mean, Mike, I'm not saying he's Superman, but the stats show.
Starting point is 00:09:19 Without him. When he was there, they were the best, what, one of the best defenses in the league. When he was on the field, when he was on the field, when he's off the field, they were the worst defense in the league. So he had a gravity. I'm not saying he's better than four guys necessarily because they're a good player. The Cowboys' defense was better with him than with all these other guys. There was no worry. Like, there was no talk of them being a worst defense in the league.
Starting point is 00:09:43 No. It was like the defense is good enough. We got a good defense. The worry was they would fall apart in the playoffs. So. So I just, I know you hate one. I usually, my reaction to most trades, you hate them. You hate my reaction because it's exciting.
Starting point is 00:09:58 The Cowboys got a good player. Yeah. But I can't. I like it. I know you do. I like living in the moment. Yeah. We used to not have an issue.
Starting point is 00:10:06 Good news. We got Joey Porter Jr. What do we give up? Something in the future. Who knows if it won't even. Yeah. Who knows what's going to happen? I don't mind.
Starting point is 00:10:13 We need to win now. The, no. And so, and if they win now, if it, listen, if the Cowboys, if Brew is preseason prediction, it wasn't just brew, a lot of people. They were a very trendy pick. If the Cowboys break their 30-some-year drought, not even make Super Bowl, make the conference championship game for 30-some years,
Starting point is 00:10:31 then you know what? Good trade. It was worth it. I just don't know if this is a needle mover for that. Quickly before we move on to the Patriots, do you think the Cowboys are done making moves? Was this the move? Well, I don't know what else they can trade.
Starting point is 00:10:44 I mean... Obviously, you think about Max Crawsie, shoot, the way the Raiders are playing, they might not want to give him up. He seems happy there. So... Yeah. And I mean, they, you know, they still have their, they have the worst of their or Green Bay's first round pick next year.
Starting point is 00:11:00 They have future first. So they, listen, they could do totally bleep them picks, Ram style, and trade a future, two future ones and be able to get almost any defensive player in football. Interesting. That would be, that would be shocking to me. And the fight, and then all their comments on, we can't be paying players this type of money would totally go out the window because you would have. Quentin Williams, Joey Porter Jr. And Max Crosby all on top of market or near top of market for their position contracts. We'll see.
Starting point is 00:11:31 I don't know. Cowboys taking on the Texans. Texans need to win a game here. Patriots, meanwhile, are in a Buffalo, almost touchdown underdogs as one-armed. Ow. Tries to break his interception street. He's gutsy, though. The way he's throwing that rock and that pain.
Starting point is 00:11:46 Unbelievable. Knowing the pain he's in. Did you see Josh McDanielsbrough, what he said? No. It's his understanding Drake hurt his shoulder. I told you it was all CYA. In week three. Yes.
Starting point is 00:11:58 Now where in week three, who knows? But that must have happened. It wasn't on the injury, look. All right, here's Drake on his shoulder. It hasn't. And I think it doesn't impact my decision making. And that's what makes and breaks play for quarterbacks. I don't feel like we're struggling to move the ball.
Starting point is 00:12:15 I think we're, you know, I'm turning the football all over, doing things that are, you know, from scoring touchdowns. Okay. Career head to head, Josh, and that's Drake May right there, huh? What? Different. In their games. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:35 Oh, you say, thinking that's a eye. That does look a little odd. No, that's the thing we've always used. Okay. Maybe it's just a angle. Maybe it's a little bit. Yeah, it looks a little different. No, that's definitively, that shows real.
Starting point is 00:12:48 Maybe it's a Freudian look at my part. I think that's a Freudian mistake. by you. Sorry. Yeah. I mean, that's definitively Drake. You're not used to seeing him without the tears. Career head-to-head.
Starting point is 00:13:02 Two wins for Josh. But, you know, moderately close in a lot of the other stats. Is it on the board he has a better game than Josh Allen? I would be absolutely stunned. I think Josh Allen is, Josh Allen just had his bad game. Josh does not usually, sorry, Brew, if I took the, he doesn't usually have back-to-back bad games. Would you want to go, bro?
Starting point is 00:13:24 I mean, I got a little info for that. I agree with Nick that if the, first of all, no. There's no way he's going to outplay Joshua Allen. It's not even on the board. It's not even on the board. I'm serious. Why not? Because I think he's going to continue to struggle.
Starting point is 00:13:43 His shoulder is bothering him. Thank you, bro. But yesterday you said it was just the excuse. Hey, I'll play along. His shoulders hurt, all right? I think he's going to continue to struggle. He may get better. I don't think he's going to be terrible every game,
Starting point is 00:13:58 but he's not going to outplay Josh Island. As Nick said, I think his chances would be much better or better if Josh weren't coming off a terrible game. Josh is going to want to redeem himself, particularly against a division rival. They just took the division from you last year. The quarterback that just finished second, had Josh ever even finished as high as second?
Starting point is 00:14:20 Well, he won it two years ago. I'm sorry about that. Yeah, my bad. But here's the deal. Last year, when Josh had a bad game against the Jets, 73 pass-a-rating, comes back next game, 134 pass-a-rating, three touchdowns. All right.
Starting point is 00:14:38 Last year, 72-passer rating, two picks against Atlanta. Next game, two rushing touchdowns, one passing touchdowns, three TDs total. It's the old roller coaster thing. When he would drop low, he would go high. Pittsburgh, 75-passer. comes back next game has four touchdowns, three of them pass it.
Starting point is 00:14:56 So he's going to cook, I think, against your Patriots. And Drake is struggling, for whatever reason. Solid, I guess. I would be, I will take the under on solid to bad. I will take the under on solid. I, it is, in my
Starting point is 00:15:15 opinion, he has played seven consecutive subpar games. In everyone's opinion, he has played four consecutive subpar games. And if we only want to look at this year, it's three consecutive, awful games. One of the many reasons I struggle with the shoulder piece of it being an excuse is the one game that we know the shoulder was bothering him.
Starting point is 00:15:45 The Super Bowl, he played his bet. He played great or had great moments in the four. fourth quarter of that Super Bowl, which you would not let us forget all summer. So I can't just be like he did turn it on. He now has eight, had eight months to get the shoulder healthier than it was in that fourth quarter. And yet now it's in such bad shape that that is the reason for his struggling. I think the reason for Drake May struggling is a combination of added film on him.
Starting point is 00:16:20 Yep. Better competition. Yep. less rapport with his receivers. And worse receivers. Worst receivers right now because of the AJ situation. And the biggest piece of it is his own right now, I don't want to say shattered,
Starting point is 00:16:38 so I'll say shaky confidence. And that that is making him second guess himself or wait or overthink and not play freely. I think all of that is mixed into a stew that has made him play so much worse than I know he. he is. I don't know that maybe I got over my skis when I said last year. I think he's just going to be a perennial top five quarterback.
Starting point is 00:16:59 Maybe it was like last year was a little more than a little inflated, but he is not a bottom five quarterback. He is not a benchable player, but he is playing like one. And I would be shocked KW if the way he gets out
Starting point is 00:17:15 of that is in a snap as opposed to a slow goes from this awful game, these three awful games to mediocre to then above average and like you know what I mean a climb up back up the map
Starting point is 00:17:29 by week 14 no I'm not saying I don't think it's the best TV I think the best TV is if I come on and say Drake is absolutely going to knock Josh Allen's socks off and throw
Starting point is 00:17:44 for 300 yards and three touchdowns I don't actually believe that I'm more in line with what you say that I think there's just a little building blocks. First building block being, let's not turn the ball over. Hey, why did we lose the Seahawks game? You just turned the ball.
Starting point is 00:18:02 Like, you actually had a game-winning drive. Yeah. And bare minimum, a game-tying drive until you had a real brain fart. Fine. You did win the game in Pittsburgh. You didn't play great. You had a dumb turnover, and we're losing the ball. And then last game, I hate to break it to all the Patriots fans.
Starting point is 00:18:23 It's funny, I'm getting ripped online by several Jags fans because I didn't get my takeout before you started to send all of the trumpeters out. Like, wild scaring to take. So I'll get my full takeout hit now. If Drake played anything less than excellently, I think we were trending towards losing that game. A bad game, good game, pretty good game, even a great game. Just the tenor of that game, I'm like, Oh, we are going to lose this game.
Starting point is 00:18:56 It could have been much worse. Regardless. So they threw a bad pick to Travis Hunter. So be it, that was, write it off as a loss. Whether you're lost in the last second, you lose by 29, there's no difference. So you play a clean game. Josh McDaniels breaks some stuff out that I haven't, they're still sitting in the playbook. So I don't think he, it's certainly on the board he has a bigger game than Josh Allen.
Starting point is 00:19:21 Josh Allen gets a little butterfingers. I think we can win by just playing smart football. So that's the piece where I disagree with you, and that's where you're in my optimism level about the Patriots being able to pull themselves out of it. The genesis of our disagreement is this. I don't think you're a great team. I think that you, and I know you haven't played like a great team this year.
Starting point is 00:19:46 No, I think that's off the board. No, no, no. But my, I said that awkwardly. My point is this. I think you're a team that is supposed to have a great passing attack, and that carries the day. And I think that if your team is now trying to rebuild its passing game, in the meantime, the other aspects of your team are not good enough to beat good teams. I don't think you have a great defense. I don't think you have a great running game. I think right now your offensive line because of injuries might be worse than last year.
Starting point is 00:20:17 I don't think you have great skill position players. And thus far this year, I don't think you've had great. coaching. So I think what's supposed to lift the tide is the great young quarterback. And I, so I just don't look at the team as, okay, if Drake May gives us a B minus, we can just out-execute the bills in enough ways to find a way to win. I don't, I don't believe the Patriots have that personnel. Well, I could be wrong, but I just don't believe they have that person. Yeah, that's right. Just don't lose the game. We have to start baseline. Yeah, start with don't lose us the game. More games.
Starting point is 00:20:51 are lost than one. Like, no, just don't lose the game for us. I think it's, we'll get to it in Knicks. I think this gets ugly. You wouldn't think you'd be there after last season. Just don't lose the game. That's how bad it is. No, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:21:06 I'm saying like, just don't, like, we weren't making other teams would beat themselves. Yeah. Like, just play clean football. No, but you also were blowing people out last year. Yeah, you were. I might change my take. Okay.
Starting point is 00:21:19 I think we're just going to crush the bill. Okay, good. That's what you were supposed to. Do you really believe that? He had an old take. I started to hear that. Here's the thing, bro, you like boxing. You're talking boxing with Chris all the time.
Starting point is 00:21:30 I think it's gotten so bad for Drake May. Oh, this guy's, I think it's reached a dangerous levels. He's just going to go out and start throwing. I think it's sort of Mike. He's going to get caught. Yeah, I think it's Mike. Maybe, but there's nothing to lose at this point. You are.
Starting point is 00:21:45 Well, he's got to protect that shoulder. The shoulders hurt, but I would throw. That's like a hurt fighter. I think it's a little Deshawn Jackson, Michael Vic, like right off the bat like hey you want to see if i'm if my shoulders hurt boom let's air it out to kyle williams there is no way come up with a bet come up with something wow there is no way he's out playing jane it's not even on the board come up with something we got 90 minutes bruise never offered that up excellent if parkins is watching parkins is a great and you're in Vegas we'll figure
Starting point is 00:22:15 out that that's great uh quickly let's go to uh las Vegas and you're going to be there chiefs are almost five point favorites when they take on the 3-0 Las Vegas Raiders. Here's Patrick Mahomes on playing in Las Vegas. I'm excited just for the challenge, you know. I mean, they're playing great football. You can see it on tape. That 3-0 record is real. They've been playing great the entire season.
Starting point is 00:22:40 And so for us, it's another step, another challenge that we have to go up there and match. Oh, yeah. Mahomes' career at Allegiant Stadium. It includes the Super Bowl, 6-0, 331, total. 40 yards, 14 touchdowns, 3 interceptions, pass-ver rating about 110. Nick, you will be there with Parkins and Nacho in the building. Nacho won't be there.
Starting point is 00:23:02 Nachos in Europe. I thought Nacho lived in Vegas. I'll be there with Andrew Roble and Nick Schulman. Oh, okay. Dignitar. What are you expecting to see from the Chiefs? I mean, what I always see when they play the Raiders. I mean, Mahomes, listen, Mahomes is 14 and 2 against the Broncos, but his numbers aren't great.
Starting point is 00:23:20 It's weird. Like his passer rating is one of the lower. against any team in his career, but it's the best record. Against the Raiders, he's only 13 and 2, but the numbers are spectacular, and we can show him to you. And Patrick in his career against the Raiders dominates them.
Starting point is 00:23:37 And next, Crosby's like, we got a great rival. Well, so more on that in just a second. Eight wins by 14 plus points. Our resident Raider fan, Stephen Hubbard, one time was at my house. The Raiders were up 21-0 in the second quarter, and the Chiefs led at half time. Reed and Mahomes, obviously,
Starting point is 00:23:56 have the most wins of any head coach quarterback duo in that stadium. And here's the thing. Brock Bowers is a great player. Yes. Michael Myers, a very good second string tight end, not second string tied in, but, you know, number two tight end.
Starting point is 00:24:09 Kirk's playing really well. Three touchdown passes each game. I do think the Raiders are going to be able to move the ball. Uh-oh. But the Chiefs are back to having an elite offense. And they are back to, you can score 24 and we can still beat you by margin.
Starting point is 00:24:26 And so what do I think? I think the Chiefs have their way with the Raiders defense. And I think that the lessons they learned from how they neutralize Nick Benito in week one with the quick passing game with the running game, all of that they use against Max Crosby. I think the Chief's defense is a work in progress. And I think for years, the one weakness of Spag's defense has been covering the tight end. So I bet Bowers has a big day. But I think this is a high-scoring Chiefs-in-control affair,
Starting point is 00:24:57 3124 type of game that the Chiefs win. Yeah, look, I'm very intrigued by this game. I mean, there's no doubt in my mind that Chiefs are the superior team. And if somehow the Raiders win this game, that won't change. I'll still think the Chiefs are the better team. But I want to see what are the Raiders? Are they really for a... Because look, look, and this is it.
Starting point is 00:25:19 You can't go by this type of stuff all the time. But they beat the Dolphins by the same point spread or point margin as the Chiefs did. Yes. They beat the Chargers worse than Buffalo did. They beat a New Orleans team that was coming off a big win over the Ravens. So their wins are pretty good. But I still don't really believe in them. And I don't know that most people believe in them outside of Vegas, meaning fans of Vegas.
Starting point is 00:25:48 So I really want to see what they're competitive. Now, 3124, there's differences. Right. If it's not a really competitive game, but it ends up being by seven. If they played them close, the Dolphins actually played the Chiefs close for a while. Then the Chiefs just kind of took it out on them. So I think if they play the Chiefs close, that will tell me a lot about the Raiders. That's who I'm really looking to find out something about the Raiders, not so much the Chief.
Starting point is 00:26:14 And if the Raiders pull the win off, will you start to think that the Raiders are for real? or just a fluke? I would think that, well, I would think the Chiefs are still better and it was kind of fluky for them to lose. But I would think the Raiders would become a legit playoff contender. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:27 Like they might be able to make the playoffs. Do you guys want to get fired up for the game? I have a 15-second video I'd like to show you from the Chiefs Raiders game. I thought you were going to pull out this smelling salt. No, no, no, no. You won't need the smelling salts after you see this one. Sure.
Starting point is 00:26:42 Christina, would you roll it, please? Let's go. It is a great clip. It is such a great. Good club. Let's go. It's a fantastic clip. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:09 I don't know. Sting the offset alert. This is a, wow. Wow, this could be absolute. Brock Purdy, first place on Bruce Ballot. Will he be a top Mahomes Mallon? That's next on FS1, the Fox Sports Channel on Sirius XM. Check out the podcast.
Starting point is 00:27:22 Our podcast is just flying up the podcast charts. I was just talking to someone today about the podcast. Yeah, he said he was going to subscribe. I'm going door to door, getting subscribers for the podcast. Got a little commission in my contract. Nice. Also the YouTube channel, fresh episode of the Kevin Wilde's podcast network coming up to.
Starting point is 00:27:41 Nice. Vib check. Guess who has the best vibes? Right now, the best vibes in the NFL. According to Kevin Rose podcast. The San Francisco 49ers. The Las Vegas Raiders number one. Welcome back to the show.
Starting point is 00:27:53 We've got no show on Friday, so we're throwing all of our segments into today's program. Well, Holmes Mountains, because we didn't have a show Tuesday. He's got nothing to do with not being on the Earth Friday. This is a Tuesday staple. I have no idea when it is. It's Tuesdays. Huh. Didn't know that.
Starting point is 00:28:10 Well, some teams are out here flying high. Some are gasping for air. Some silver medalists in the Super Bowl. Silver medalists in the MVP race. But they hit a little slump, and all of a sudden, no one believed them anymore. Let's find out where all these great quarterback stand as we climb a Holmes Mountain. Indeed. Let's get right to the quarterbacks who are off the mountain.
Starting point is 00:28:35 Some for injury, some for performance, some for performance that they're blaming on a potentially fake injury. Injured. Caleb, he has missed time. That's not the big injury. He's missed games. Jackson Dart is out for the year. Baker is missing time. Off the mountain due to performance. Wow.
Starting point is 00:28:57 James Cam Ward. Jalen Daniels, it's not your fault, girl. You haven't played yet. from Kansas, but he can't be on the mountain yet. Well, let's focus on the guy to the left. Wow. I didn't expect this. I didn't want this.
Starting point is 00:29:10 There's a clip going around of me from last year before a Ravens Patriots game. We're asking who do you trust more, Drake May or Lamar Jackson? I'm like, Drake May this week and forever moving forward. We went a little too far there. Ravens fans coming for my throat. We did win that game. I know. By the way, like, I was like, Lamar then went on to miss the playoffs.
Starting point is 00:29:27 It was one of the easy games that Drake May was. You guys didn't finish over 500. Listen, that's fine. He deserves it. Ravens fans. Spend less time on me and more time. Amazon priming. Lamar, some emergency, some theraflu and different things.
Starting point is 00:29:42 I know he didn't respond that well to the climate change from Rio to North America. All right, listen, Drake Bay's off the mountain because he's been awful. He's been so awful that we're talking about, is, you know, is he going to have surgery on a throwing shoulder for nine months? No one's bringing that up yet. Yet. Yeah. I like the yet. I do like that.
Starting point is 00:30:02 Bottom row of the mountain. Jordan Love. He's been pretty bad too, Greg. Kyler. I don't know that he's been better than Carson Wentz in his five quarters. Not great. I know they're undefeated. Not great.
Starting point is 00:30:16 Justin Herbert's like, thank God for Drake May this week. It'll be a lot more talk about me. That's a heck of a bottom. Daniel Jones stays where he is. Deshawn Watson played quite well in week two. Week three, that was not the story. He didn't deserve to drop, but that was not the story. At least in my opinion, the story was the Brown's defense.
Starting point is 00:30:36 Sean stays where he is. Malik Willis, I don't know, converted some third down. Scott on the Mountain. He doesn't have a lot of weapons. Now H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-N done. Rodgers back on the Mountain. Credit-words, too. He played really, really well in week three.
Starting point is 00:30:48 He's back on the mountain. Roe-6. Speaking of playing great, G, Brew, give it to me. No. No, that's not it. It's not it. It's not it. G, I don't know what we do when he's good.
Starting point is 00:30:57 G-G. He's playing well. He's playing. He's playing really well. Michael Pinnix awoke the deep sleeper Vikings. Or Falcons, pardon me. He played great. CJ still struggling a bit.
Starting point is 00:31:09 Jacoby's been Jacoby. He's going to chuck it around for a bunch of yards. Some great games, some tough games. Against the Niners, he was actually pretty good. The offense was pretty good. Marcus Marriota doing his thing. I don't know how long it's going to last, and Jaden might take the job back.
Starting point is 00:31:26 He's doing his thing. And shout out Case Keenom. KW is not a cowboy. It's not his first rodeo. There is nothing that can come out of that locker room KW likes. When the head coach is the star of the locker room video, it doesn't like it. I like the days when the locker room used to just be for getting dressed and leaving. Sanctuary.
Starting point is 00:31:44 Now it's a content creation studio. It is. Case Keenum deserves to be where he is. He played awesome. He played great against a devence that I thought was going to be a top five deven. top three to even to me, number one to evens in football. That's why I picked them to go to the Super Bowl,
Starting point is 00:32:01 not because LeBron plays in the city. Fifth row. Listen, if there was a report that Jalen Hertz and Nick Siriani had a confrontation in the Eagles locker room, I would sight unseen take Jailen's side. And I think he's losing a level of patience with his head coach.
Starting point is 00:32:24 With that said, he has not played great this year. He had a great drug. to win the Titans game. He was fine in the commanders game. But my Super Bowl pick Eagles, the commanders had a two-point conversion to beat him, the Titans had the lead with 30 seconds left, and Case Keenom-blood Bears blew him out.
Starting point is 00:32:41 He needs to be better than he's been. He drops. Kurt Cousins, we just talked out of him. He's playing really, really well. Three touchdowns every game. He's played well. Bryce and Tyler Shuck, one and two in the NFL in passing yards.
Starting point is 00:32:52 You know, Chris Alavi and Jalen Koker have actually been their leading receivers, not Ted McMillan, but it's not like they have overwhelming weapons. They deserve credit. And I just don't know what to do about Bo Nix. Nine of the 12 quarters this year, he's been truly awful. Three of the 12, he's been unbelievable,
Starting point is 00:33:09 and those have led the wins over the Jags and the Rams. Move on. Fourth row, star studded. Matt Stafford has to drop a bit. That pick six was, can't happen. Seven minutes left in a game you're leading. ball past the 50 yard line. Not in a bad down and distance.
Starting point is 00:33:29 Can't make that mistake. That's why they lost. Sam Darnold, it's green because he was off for injury. He didn't move up from where he was before. He's back. Listen, that was a kind of darn old game. A lot of yards, some touchdowns, some interceptions. Like, he's going to throw some picks.
Starting point is 00:33:46 The defense usually doesn't, you know, allow what they allowed in that game. Dack stayed where he is. I thought Dack played well until the very evening. end of that game had some rough moments. Jared Gough, I know he's on Bruce's ballot. That's a touch rich for me. He's obviously been solid, more than solid. They have to score 30 points to win games. Wow. I don't know if we've ever had so many of the alleged big four quarterbacks all on one row. Third row, Josh Allen drops. Now I understand it's unfair. Now, is Josh Allen the best regular season quarterback in the league? Of course not. Is the best
Starting point is 00:34:23 playoff quarterback in the league? Of course not. Is he the most decorated quarterback in the league? Of course not. Is he the most clutch quarterback in the league? Of course. Everybody knows. Now, is he the best in any individual thing? No. Is he the situationally the best in any individual thing? Probably not. But he is the best quarterback, so he deserves to just live atop the mountain. With that said, the three turnovers and the game where his defense and his running game bailed him out, I dropped him a bit. I know it's unfair. It is what it is. Lamar, I think his performance, since this year, that's a fair ranking for him coming off the year he had last year. I thought he did, listen, he was very efficient in that game against the Cowboys, not super
Starting point is 00:35:01 prolific but efficient. And Joe Burrow, it's a weird spot. He gets moved up in a game they lost and he fumbled at the end. But I did think that was his best game of the year outside of the fumble. Maybe I'm being, you know, splitting hairs there. I don't know who I would put ahead of him. He's there he is. Brew, what a row two I have for you.
Starting point is 00:35:23 Two show favorites. Wow. Two people that are discussed on this show more than any other show in sports TV. A number one overall pick and a Mr. Irrelevant. Wow. The Prince and Brock Purdy.
Starting point is 00:35:37 It is not the Prince's highest ever ranking as he was atop the Mountain a couple weeks ago. It is Purdy's. I got to think it's his highest ever ranking unless I was concussed one day and put him atop the Mountain. But he's playing unbelievably. The Prince has just been great
Starting point is 00:35:52 for months. months and months now. And man, this feels good. Back atop the mountain in his rightful place. The best quarterback in football, a man Brew said, has goat potential and is already the boat. Brew called him Jordanesque. I said, stop shortchanging my guy.
Starting point is 00:36:13 Patrick Mahomes, atop the mountain that is his namesake. Greg Jennings, your thoughts on the mountain? Overall, pretty good mountain. Again, I feel the way I feel about. Jordan Love because we need to assess everything. Yeah. Not just him. But going to go on that same tier all the way to the right.
Starting point is 00:36:36 Aaron Rogers, number eight, Pittsburgh Steelers. What are we doing? Come on, man. You got to do him better than that. He had a throwback moment and now we're starting to believe, are the Steelers for real? Because if he shows up like this, moving forward, Doesn't have to do it every single game,
Starting point is 00:36:58 but we know quarterbacks that can have roller coaster rides. And if he has a roller coaster ride and it looks like this, the Pittsburgh Steelers are going to be amazing. And he is going to continue to rise on this mountain, which I believe he deserves to be up higher than Case Keenham, who had one outing. And it didn't, but it didn't look like that. Can we please throw those numbers back up?
Starting point is 00:37:19 He did look like that. No, it did not look like that. The 110 rating, 250 yards passing. 250 yards passing. How many touchdowns? Two. Two. Okay.
Starting point is 00:37:28 No, no turnovers. Okay, that's great. Awesome. Amazing. How many? It's Case Keenoms. They won. They have, they did a lot of things.
Starting point is 00:37:35 We're talking about Aaron Rogers right now, and he should be higher than Case Keenum right now because of this performance. And the one thing I want you to focus on, 20 yards down the field. He had five completions. That was stunning. That was pretty good. Of 20 yards down the field. That was. If this is who Aaron Rogers is going to be, oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:54 He's going to climb the mountain and he's deserved. serving already to be higher than where you have him on the mountain. He was dead last. I mean, which is, which is. It wasn't, and it's not left to right. Yeah, you can say it's not left the right. It's left to right. But Aaron Rogers deserved after that performance to be up higher on the mountain.
Starting point is 00:38:12 That's a fair take. That is a fair. Listen, I thought Rogers played really well. That's why he got it on the mountain. I don't think he's been better this year than Gino. I don't think Pinnix has only played one game. CJ's been fine. Jacoby's been fine.
Starting point is 00:38:23 Marriota and Keenom, I thought, deserved a lot of credit. They've had one start each. They both won as huge underdogs. Go ahead, Drew. I'm going to start with a bonus take. I fear that I may have inadvertently hurt my man Brock Purdy. Hell. Had I not last week said there are only a handful of guys
Starting point is 00:38:41 that are even eligible for the top of the mountain. Because of their pedigree, their resume, their historic greatness, Lamar, Josh Mahomes, all that. I think Purdy would have been. Because last week, Greg, Trevor was on top of the mountain. I was like, come on, he can't be on top of the mountain. I'm sure that went into the committee. Not at all.
Starting point is 00:39:02 No, Patrick was great. They're thinking. He's been the best quarterback in league this year so far. But anyway, my real take is similar. The Prince is too high. What? His second game was horrible. Against Denver, 63 pass a rating, no touchdowns, one interception.
Starting point is 00:39:23 Last two weeks, we know he's a. roller coaster. The last two weeks, he's at, and I know you love this stat. He's averaging 6.4 yards per attempt. How we know he, there is no way. This is a week to week mountain. No, but I'm saying, no, it's a rich tapestry. There's no way he should be on the same tier as Purdy. Look at the numbers. Look at these numbers. Purdy's nothing but work magic this entire. How are those numbers? Those are their league rankings. How are they on the same? would you like to replace him with? I would put Josh, Lamar,
Starting point is 00:39:59 any of those guys on the bottom, the next row above Trevor. And Trevor's playing well, don't get me wrong. Top three in the league right now? Trevor's taking mercy on his opposition. There's no way he's playing top three. He's taking mercy. He took mercy on y'all.
Starting point is 00:40:14 That's just how bad the pads are. I disagree with Drew, but I want KW to go. I cannot go. You have to go. No, not going. You had all these graphics. I heard you say you had four elements. Not going.
Starting point is 00:40:22 Who are you doing? I was doing G. I was doing Gino, and Christina is a big Jets fan. Don't sleep on Gino. Don't sleep on Gino's out here crushing. All right, you know what? It's fine. You didn't.
Starting point is 00:40:32 Going back to the NFL, there's the Prince. Jags, Bengals, in a battle of cats. Wee, whew, wow. Trevor Lawrence, winless. Get sick. No, bro. That was actually funny. Cat noise with the claws.
Starting point is 00:40:51 Here's Trevor Lawrence. You're not sitting there thinking about it every second of the day and all week, but I've thought about it. You know, it's a team that we haven't beat, and we lost a tough one there earlier in the season last year, and that's one that we definitely went back. And I think that's all those things you think about it, and then you move on, and you've got to put your energy towards something
Starting point is 00:41:12 that actually does something for you, which is preparing and getting ready to go put together a great plan to win the game. That's what we're going to do. Family Fudes out. Good answer, good answer. That was pretty good. This season, both quarterbacks, two and one. Joe Burroughs got a higher completion percentage and more yards.
Starting point is 00:41:30 Yeah, but Trump's been sitting fourth quarters. Well, he took a knee. And then they bent. You know what? He could have had more total touchdown. And then they took it. Exactly. Yeah, he could.
Starting point is 00:41:39 Mercy rule. Exactly. That's what he was. That's a pretty good passer rating, given what Bruce was saying about my guy. But go ahead. Yeah. Who would you rather have in this game? In this game, you know what?
Starting point is 00:41:50 I'll do the Drake May Lamar thing. I don't care. Come at me, bro. in this game and moving forward, Trevor Lawrence. And moving forward, he's doubling down. Trevor Lawrence is over Joe Burrow, the rest of the way. Yeah. Wow.
Starting point is 00:42:05 Is that considering health? Yeah, of course. Of course, considering health. You never know with Burroughs. Yeah, and you do know with Trevor. It takes catastrophic injury for Trevor to come off the field. And even then, you demand some walk off the fields. They don't have carts there.
Starting point is 00:42:20 He doesn't demand. And it's not just prisoner of the moment. You guys don't like when I do these random samples. So I will just do since Burrow came back. Because last year, it's not fair to use all of last year with Burrow because he missed such amount of time. Since Burrow returned, I don't know who's better. Now Trevor doesn't, you know, Joe Burrow doesn't have the benefit of Parker, Washington,
Starting point is 00:42:41 and Jacoby Myers. He has to, Joe has to deal with Jamar, Jason T. Higgins, I guess. Trevor's an excellent player who finally it has clicked in for. Yes, the Liam Cohen relationship was what he needed. The confidence that was kind of Ebbden flowed throughout his career is finally locked in. He's not turning the ball over. He's not turning the ball over. He makes so many, I don't know if PFF calls him big time throws,
Starting point is 00:43:09 but what I consider big time throws, like tight window, anticipatory throws. I just think Trevor's a great player. And I think he's always had great talent. and he's now just finally over the last, basically half of last year into this year, putting it all together. So, yeah, my answer is Trevor. I think, yes, it's Trevor.
Starting point is 00:43:30 I'm going with Burrow. Now, look, I do think Trevor is a good player now. Like, he's a legitimate quarterback. But the reason I go with Burrow, I feel like I'm 95% sure I'm going to get at least a good game from Joe Burrow. Trevor is a roller coat. He really is.
Starting point is 00:43:49 And even this year, first game, great. Four touchdowns against the Browns, blew him out. Second game, pretty bad. Now, Denver, their defense is good. Mahomes didn't have a great game against them. That's Denver. But still, he wasn't good. Next week, fantastic.
Starting point is 00:44:08 By that order, he should be down. Yeah, but he had seven straight great games to finish last year. Seven straight. I don't know that they were all great. I mean, look, I think he's a very good quarterback. I think words like excellent elite. I'm not there yet on him. I think Burroughs still elite.
Starting point is 00:44:24 I don't even think Burroughs hit his stride yet. I think you would even agree with that. I don't think he's hit his stride yet this season. I think he's going to just keep getting better as long as he stays healthy. That's what I will give you for Trevor. Yeah, it's Burrow. And like you, it's Burrow for you too. I don't care what you say.
Starting point is 00:44:41 Because when you look at Trevor Lawrence, what do you have, you always say, Liam Cohen has done a fantastic job. Yeah. It took for him to go. through how many coaches? Well, Urban Meyer is not his ball. Okay, okay. And Doug Peterson.
Starting point is 00:44:54 But you said he has the talent, Trevor had the talent, he has the skill set, all the things. But it took for another coach, Limcoigne to bring it out of him? Correct. Okay. How do you feel about Zach Taylor? I don't think.
Starting point is 00:45:07 No, I don't think Zach Taylor is a great coach. But it doesn't matter. No, because he's playing with Jamar, Jason, T. Egan. And I do think Burrow is a more. So who has the better defense? I think Jackson is a better defense. So when you throw up their records and you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, throwing up a team record, you got to put that in the context as well.
Starting point is 00:45:24 I totally agree with that. So here's what I would say. And just give us an extra minute here, Christina, please. I think Burrow came into the league more intellectually and emotionally sophisticated and mature than Trevor. I think he to this day is probably, I would probably take Joe Burrow in an IQ test over Trevor. I think he is. Yeah. Well, that is, that's true.
Starting point is 00:45:44 I think he's, so I think he's less prone. It gives him a higher. floor. I think, but I think Trevor's raw talent, I believe to be higher than Burroughs. Just raw natural talent. And so now that he has gotten
Starting point is 00:45:59 up to his mental side of the game and as a coach that he is on the same page as, his raw talent can kind of shine. I will give you the talent aspect of it. Yes, Trevor Lawrence has more talent.
Starting point is 00:46:15 But in terms of just putting it together and playing ball Joe Burrow every night of the week. Okay. Wow. Well, we'll see on Sunday. Let's see if you said every night, what about afternoons? What about Sunday afternoons in Cincinnati? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:30 Okay. We'll see who's on the Bud List, most motivational segment in all of sports with Chris Broussard coming up. Thank you, Ryan. That's a great second. Live from New York. It's a show that believes in the Prince. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:47 I'm trying to come around. You beat the Patriots? I'm believing you. Second hour of first things first. Greg's not a believer. He mocked you. The Brent's? No.
Starting point is 00:46:57 Look, that's when Nick who said the nicest thing. I think Joe Burrow came into the league a little more emotionally mature. If you're taking me with eight minutes left. Today, Jalen Hurts looking for his fifth straight win over Matthew Stafford. What would it mean if he gets it? Meanwhile, week four, upside alert, alert. And, wow, a very interesting sports media. Ombudsman wait till you get a load of this and right now of course it's time for the most
Starting point is 00:47:26 motivational segment in all of sports it's the bud list also some viewer mail wow I always get it's unique dear wilds did you catch Mike Tomlin's Minecraft stream and what you think cheers Ryan and Brian now I did see it come across some of my social media I did not totally understand it. It's pretty remarkable. People are calling it a work of art. Well, I mean, again, it's hard to conceptualize.
Starting point is 00:48:00 He built all piece by piece, like brick by brick. I'm not a Minecraft player, but my son was, my daughter's, I think my youngest daughter might still be. The amount of hours and work it took, again, it was just the, it imagine. Minecraft music? I don't know. But nothing was there, and he designed it all
Starting point is 00:48:20 his brain and then built it. It's pretty... I like that a lot. I like this. I like that. They look like me too. Their bodies, the muscles, all that. Yes.
Starting point is 00:48:35 The mole. I like it. The gut is gone. The belly's gone. Wow. Love it. Wow. The virtual world.
Starting point is 00:48:43 The only world. All right. Let's get to it. We got a hot one this week. Number three, Deshawn Watson. Okay. All right, look, it's not exactly the tear jerking, no.
Starting point is 00:48:56 Inspirational redemption story. But hey, you're playing great football, you know, compared to what you've been playing in your five-year stint, nightmarish five-year stint in Cleveland. Through three games. Now, first of all, he's never played more than seven games in a season since he's been in Cleveland. All right.
Starting point is 00:49:16 So through three games, you have Cleveland highs for you. self. In completion percentage, 68%. Touchdown percentage, you're 10th in the league. Interception percentage is very low. Yards per game, yards per attempt, and passer rating. You have a 104 passer rating. You haven't played this well, put up these types of numbers, and they're not spectacular, but they're good since you were a Houston Texan. And check this, I don't know if you guys know this. I think you'll be surprised. In the fourth quarters, thus far this season. Deshawn Watson leads all NFL quarterbacks in passer rating in the fourth quarter.
Starting point is 00:49:58 148. Yeah, they've been coming back. Even in week one when he was awful, in the fourth quarter is when he like had those two really nice plays. Yep. 148 pass rating, 20 for 25, 253 yards and three touchdowns in the fourth quarter. So here's the deal. I don't know what the future holds for you in Cleveland. Even if you play well, I guess it's possible they would move on from you. If you play well, maybe lead them to the playoffs. They still could possibly move on from you.
Starting point is 00:50:28 But you're only 31 years old. You keep playing well. I think another team would pick you up. And your NFL career could continue, I think. So you keep playing well, you know, that's what's on the table for you. Look, I don't know if I believe in you yet, Deshaun, but play well, beat the Steelers tonight, and I'll certainly be leaning in that direction,
Starting point is 00:50:55 or at least more so in that direction. All right. At number two, maybe another redemption story. Kirk Cousins left for dead a few years ago in Minnesota and Atlanta, I guess, but through three games, you have thrown for more touchdowns than every quarterback except Brock Perkins.
Starting point is 00:51:16 And we know how great he. kids. All right. So you are bawling, Kurt. You are straight up bawling. I'm sure, as nice as Michael Pennis could look in his debut last week, I'm sure that Atlanta Falcons wish they had Kurt Cousins playing a quarterback for them. Here's the deal, though.
Starting point is 00:51:37 Are you guys for real? Are you and the Raiders for real? We'll find out this weekend because you play the mighty Kansas City Chiefs. If you beat them now, I will believe, and I'm sure everyone will think you guys are a legitimate playoff contender. Heck, even if you play them well and the game is in the balance in the last few minutes, you will be viewed as a legitimate playoff contender. You've had some good wins, so let's see how that works. And for you, maybe you'll be the starter the entire season ahead of number one pick Fernando Mendoza.
Starting point is 00:52:15 We know he's going to get in there at least. next year, if not this season at some point. But if you play well all season, then you will certainly be in position at 38 years old for another job with another team as a starter next year. For you guys to beat the Chiefs, though, or at least play them tough, you have got to do something you haven't really done
Starting point is 00:52:36 throughout your career, which is beat a team with a winning record. All right. So, Kirk, your career mark against teams with winning records is 20 and 53. That is 27%. That was a Drake May type number. Sorry, Wilde, but Drake May type numbers against winning teams.
Starting point is 00:52:58 They're not. You're not. They are actually. Your record against losing teams, 71, 24, and 2. That's 73%. That's Jimmy Garapolo and San Francisco numbers.
Starting point is 00:53:15 So you're a different guy. when this shows you, the wilds, the level of competition matters. It does matter. One of the reasons the show works is Wilds only ever gets mad at me. You're really testing lies.
Starting point is 00:53:34 That's not a lie. Here's a lot. I mean, the last seven games have been against Stephen winning records, he's struggling. Here's a lie. You know what? Do the numbers, Josh. Do the numbers and see.
Starting point is 00:53:47 All right, but anyway, Kirk, look, it's going to be tough sledding to beat the Chiefs, but I do believe in you. Yeah. So let's keep it going. All right, at number one, double hit, Dak Prescott and C.J. Stroud. I put them together because they play each other this weekend. And you talk about Desperate. They are the poster boys for Desperate in the NFL right now.
Starting point is 00:54:10 Both of them absolutely need a win. I mean, one team obviously is not going to win. I mean, I guess it could be a tie. But somebody's going home disappointed. But, Dak, you've been talking more junk than more smack, more trash to Muhammad Ali lately. That might also be a lot. I told you. I mean, Gotti, Super Bowl T-shirts.
Starting point is 00:54:36 The fans that don't believe aren't real fans. Dax's been talking a lot of trash, all right? CJ, you haven't. Gosh. Talking what's led to. They won a game in nine months. Really? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:51 The first playoff game, you've played okay. You have not been horrific. You've had a couple bad turnovers. But you've been okay. But you guys just can't put the ball in the end zone. That's the problem. You're 0 and 3. You're in a contract year, it seems, right?
Starting point is 00:55:10 I don't even know if these reports are true about the $50 million offer. Supposedly. There seems to be, yeah, seems to be some question mark about that. But reportedly, you turn that down one to better on yourself. If you guys lose this game to the Cowboys, you will be 0 and 4. Now, last year you made the playoffs after an 0 and 3 start. But guys, there is only one team in the history of the NFL that has made the playoffs after an 0.4 start.
Starting point is 00:55:39 You know who it is? I believe it to be the Stan Humphreys-led San Diego Chargers of 1994. Oh, close. Wow is right. He had no idea. I did. I read it this morning.
Starting point is 00:56:00 I mean, I'm impressed, though, Nick. That was a nice shot. But yeah, I mean, it's coming, you know, how are you going to demand a $60 million a year contract if you start 0 and 4 missed the playoffs and even if your numbers are solid? This is huge for both of you guys. Dak, your division doesn't look great so far.
Starting point is 00:56:20 A little more forgiving than the one the CJ's in. But you both absolutely need a win desperately. I'm excited to see which one of you pull it out. And I say this from the heart. I believe in both of you. But I'm looking forward to seeing who pulls this thing out. All right. Greg? I'm going to throw up Jalen Hertz.
Starting point is 00:56:44 Yeah. Go ahead. Did you not just watch that? A lot of talk has been about, you know, his first half, second halves and how drastic of a drop-off they've been. But I started doing a little bit more digging, Jalen. And you actually have been really good in quarter one, quarter two. You're phenomenal.
Starting point is 00:57:04 If we can throw the numbers up. Quarter four. What? It's just the third quarter? The third quarters. Weird. The third quarters. Right after halftime.
Starting point is 00:57:14 Right after halftime. You go in and you either decide to, okay, guys, let's maintain what we're doing, it's working, let's heighten it up, or we make minimal adjustments. And for whatever reason, your numbers don't just, they don't look good. And the team doesn't perform well. And I started thinking about it. And I'm like, man, every time I've watched Jalen Hertz, I'm just harping on the second half. But if it's as isolated as the third quarter, then Jalen, you've clearly closed out the end of halves really well. Be that guy.
Starting point is 00:57:55 You clearly can do it. You win games. You provide a lift. You have the IQ, the smarts. We saw what you did at the end of the first half against the Bears. Not a lot of quarterbacks would have made that decision. But you did. Come out with the energy.
Starting point is 00:58:10 You got the Rams. You win against Matthew Stafford. We know this. Be great. And your team will rally behind you. And maybe some of the individuals like myself will start to bleep. You know what?
Starting point is 00:58:24 Jalen actually is one of those elite quarterbacks in this league. Because I'm not certain that you are elite. I know you're smart. I know you can get it done. You've gotten it done. I believe in you. Just maybe not in the third quarter. That was a telling graphic.
Starting point is 00:58:40 I would not have guessed that. Neither would I, which was why it was shocking to me. 413 on Thursday, which means time for the sports media ombudsman, a little carve-out. A bonus take. And a bonus take. Wow. First ever sports media on Budsman is seeing into the future.
Starting point is 00:58:57 Because Brew did a great job at the beginning of the Bud list. I'm talking about Deshaun Watson's play, saying this is not some, like, feel-good comeback story. I would like to preemptively sports media on bud, Al Michaels and Kirk Herb Street, who will not get that memo tonight, and we'll talk about what a heartwarming. comeback story it is. I'm telling you, watch this evening and just wait, hard not to
Starting point is 00:59:21 root for this guy. Really? I find it quite easy. But more importantly, I kind of struggled for sports media ombudsman. I gave you several options. And none of them were up to the sports media on budgetman's standard, so I did what
Starting point is 00:59:37 sadly we used to do often when I couldn't find a sports media embudsman. I picked on Kevin Wise. KW. I want to bet. This is why. KW.
Starting point is 00:59:49 You owe us and the audience our time back for how much we talked about the Red Sox this year. It was one of the greatest comeback this Red Sox team. If you consumed baseball purely
Starting point is 01:00:07 through our show, you would think this Red Sox team was battling the 27 Yankees for all time status. Not a team. That started 2 and 8. Then they were 9 and 17. That's the point. Then at the 50 game mark, they were 22 and 31.
Starting point is 01:00:22 Round midway, point of the season, 29 and 43. And then even after, their unbelievable stretch that we had to see every day in weird and wonderful. They finished with one more win than the snakes. Well, the snakes had a good year. They finished for more snakes coverage. I will deliver. They were in third in their division all year, got to the playoffs, and got mortified.
Starting point is 01:00:45 Yeah, the playoffs. Annihilated. I'm just curious. They won 16 fewer games in the Brewers. Had Brewers been mentioned on the show? Listen, I said they got hot. Second half of the year. It was a historic comeback.
Starting point is 01:01:00 That's what it was. I should do more if you don't have it memorized. I'm going to double down on this. It was bad, though. Now, it is true. I didn't. Kevin Wilds and I did make a bunch of. bet about who would have the better
Starting point is 01:01:15 season, the Royals or the Red Sox. And I pre-paid the bet when it was clear the royals were out of the playoffs and the Red Sox were in it. I would ask the audience, maybe Gianni put it on Twitter, did I do that prematurely? I think I think it was a push.
Starting point is 01:01:31 I think you bet me $10,000. Because because when you really think about it, is missing the playoffs better or worse than making the playoffs and having it go the way it did for your ball. It was really bad.
Starting point is 01:01:46 It wasn't even bad. It was just boring. I didn't think it was boring. It definitely wasn't boring. If you were not a whole word. If you liked the long ball, it wasn't boring at all. I didn't like it at all. I didn't even have a judge.
Starting point is 01:01:58 I'm putting Derek Henry revenge game. Love it. Oh, I love this. 119 games with the Titans, only 37 with the Ravens. But recency bias, I'm starting to view him more. That's a great point. Of a raven than a titan than a titan. I didn't realize it was that lopsided.
Starting point is 01:02:15 First time he's ever played the Titans. That's interesting. You're looking, obviously, he played much longer with the Titans, but I kind of, I feel like he's, maybe I'm, because I'm the Raven.
Starting point is 01:02:24 If they make a Super Bowl, he'll be remembered as a Raven, definitely. So let's say they just next four, three years, he's great. They just have deep playoff for us. I still think he's a Raven. So here's the thing. Here are the numbers.
Starting point is 01:02:37 It's okay. It's interesting. When he left Tennessee, he was like, older running backs. We were in the older running back. He's better. He's better.
Starting point is 01:02:46 He's probably. He runs more. You know, the Lamar threat. Yeah. I mean, it's 25 almost yards. And more yards. And he's older. This is not, he's not 23.
Starting point is 01:02:57 And he's got to touch. I think that he's going to be remembered as a raven. Nah. You don't know what? That guy. Especially if he's there a few more years. That guy would stop it. In Tennessee.
Starting point is 01:03:08 You just saw the numbers. I see the numbers. I experienced in witness. This is what he was doing also in Tennessee. He was ridiculous. This is impressive. His 2,000 yard or almost 2,000 yard season was. Most rushing yards with a single team, minimum 30 games.
Starting point is 01:03:24 It's Eric Dickerson. It's Jim Brown. It's Derek Henry in a Ravens uniform. Barry Sanders. Like, it's a shocking, it's a shocking tenure that he's had. And this is his revenge game. He said it's not really on his mind. I looked up other Ravens when they were clearing house
Starting point is 01:03:42 and Brable's Titans. A.J. Brown, after he puts up, eight catches, 119 yards, two touchdowns. I wanted to retire a Titan. I tried to do everything in my power to remain a Titan. Lit him up. Mike Brable fired. Then the last year, beat him 31.13.
Starting point is 01:03:57 So we always, Derek Henry's on a heater, obviously. We always see good Derek Henry games. Are we going to see even a more vengeful King Henry? I think so, because he didn't have a great game against the Cowboys. I'm sure and it's not just his fault for getting stuffed on those fourth and ones, but I'm sure
Starting point is 01:04:14 he feels bad about that, and he didn't have 100 yards, didn't average four yards of carry, yeah, and it's the Titans, I think he's going to have huge. I did not realize he's averaging 100 yards a game as a race. So that's 103 yards as a rate? That's crazy. That is.
Starting point is 01:04:31 He's been phenomenal. Wow, thanks. Wow, thanks. That was like your best one. No, I've had several great ones. What music is this? This is the mindcrack. Yeah, I hated that. Brewcrown.
Starting point is 01:04:46 I love it. We got to, let's definitely keep this in the ball. For a lot. Just because of the Bice. That's the new cowboy brew. Because of the bicep. Welcome back to the show. Oh, Rams, Eagles, Cowboys, Texans, Jets, Bear, Packers, Fox.
Starting point is 01:05:04 Depending on where you live. Then at 4 o'clock, dolphins versus my undefeated Vikings. Major moment. Only on Fox, part of Fox Tober Fest, one of my first. favorite bests. Fox Graphics Department. Yeah. Sequin out, Jalen in.
Starting point is 01:05:17 Well, Jalen's a great Super Bowl. I'm just telling you that he was a great Super Bowl quarterback two weeks ago and they put Seaquin on the graphic. I'm saying either Seqwan stars dimming or Jalen stars rising. Either way, you got the graphic. More on that game right now. Rams in Philadelphia. Stafford has never beaten Jailen Litz, not once, or Nick Siriani. That's right.
Starting point is 01:05:38 John McVeigh. Mick Vey is, what, one and six against Syriani, I think? against Siriani up there? Including the playoffs, Jalen Hertz has four wins. His team scores 10 more points. He completes a better percentage of his passes. Throws for more yards. Those are more yards per pass, naturally.
Starting point is 01:05:53 Has eight touchdown. They have that same touchdown turnover ratio. And has a higher pass rating. Jalen Hertz is the only quarterback to be four and oh or better versus Matthew Stafford. Now, the reason kind of we're doing this question, if you asked someone on the street who's a better quarterback outside of the Philadelphia region, I feel like everybody would say Matthew Stafford when it comes time to.
Starting point is 01:06:14 I think you might even say that. Within the Philadelphia region. I think you might even say that. Without sliding Jalen, there might be some people within Philadelphia. So I'm glad you went there. The question is what would another? Yeah, what would going 5 and 0 against Stafford? I think Stafford is a better quarterback.
Starting point is 01:06:31 But I do think, and you guys know I've said, like, I've compared Jalen to like a Terry Bratch. Like his career, if he keeps winning, wins more Super Bowl, I just think even though he might not have the greatest numbers, he will go down as a really high-ranking quarterback. And I think he could finish as a higher-ranked quarterback than Stafford. Historically. Historically.
Starting point is 01:06:55 I think it's on the board. Like, individually, Stafford's been better. But, you know, all those years in Detroit, and they had some talent around him, and he just couldn't elevate him. All right. And so Jaylen, look, again, I think Stafford's, is better, and Stafford, Nick, you kind of made this point yesterday. Stafford, most people would say Sean McVeigh is a better coach than Nick Siriani.
Starting point is 01:07:20 Well, only people that watch football. Okay, but he's, so Jalen has had the worst coach and been able to beat Stafford. He's had a coaching advantage. He's maybe had, and you could. Stafford's had a coaching advantage. Correct. And I think Jayland, and I think Stafford can, he's a winner. I'm not saying he's not a winner.
Starting point is 01:07:39 Jalen is a winner. And I think if he wins this game, again, his defenses have been better than Stafford's over the years. But Stafford's got a good defense this year and has had some in the past. Stafford certainly this year with Pooka back would have the better receiving court, got the better coach. And if Jalen beats it, Jalen is just a winner man. Like I said, not consistently great, but situationally great. And I think this would just be more evidence of that. It would simply mean that Jalen's teams have been better than Stafford's teams.
Starting point is 01:08:12 Oh, Greg, play along. No, I'm not playing along. What? Five and no against, you said all the things that everybody wants to head to head. Are we picking Jalen Hertz or are we picking Matthew Stafford? Which quarterback you could have? Yeah. Well, Greg, sometimes.
Starting point is 01:08:28 Who are you going with? I'll go with the guy who's four and up. Of course you are. Of course you are. That would be right. If we did the question, because we do these a lot, which we did it in the playoff game which quarterback would you rather have
Starting point is 01:08:40 and I'll like I'll take Hertz he's 1 and O like and I'd be right again and then we do it again I'll take Hertz I'm always going to take Jalen Hertz he's 4 and O I that's I mean that's really all I think he's a better quarterback like right now than Matthew I think you misunderstood Greg's question
Starting point is 01:08:57 just for the record I don't think Greg was saying for this in this game in this matchup specifically I'm talking about Star D team in general if you could have either quarterback, would you rather have Safford or Hertz? Because I feel like you have said you're a Hertz guy with that said, you're okay with. Stafford does some amazing stuff.
Starting point is 01:09:15 That Stafford as the MVP is the like the guys that you, I think you have said you're okay with being above Hertz are Mahomes, Josh, Lamar, and Stafford with Burrow being a question mark because of the availability. So that's why I thought even for you, you might have Stafford above hers. But if he pulls off the win, he's like, well, I've played this guy, If Jalen Hertz, we had him on the show and you're like, Stafford's better.
Starting point is 01:09:38 And Jaylor is like, man, I played him five times. I beat him five. I beat him in the playoffs. It wasn't like Hertz had a phenomenal game. Because if that's the case, then these numbers would suggest that, well, Jalen Hertz is better than Stafford. But they don't. Those numbers, dude. In terms of the wins.
Starting point is 01:10:00 No, I think those numbers do suggest that Hurts is outplayed him. These numbers suggest that he's outplayed him. in those games. Their career numbers don't suggest. But the career numbers in terms of who do you like? It's not even a test. It's not even a question on a test. So I, listen, I think it would mean a lot more for, and I know this isn't really the spirit of the question.
Starting point is 01:10:28 I think it would mean a lot more about the Rams potentially being in real trouble this year than it would mean about these two players individually because I understand they both play quarterback but they play the position. What they are excellent at and what they are lauded for are such drastically different quarterback traits
Starting point is 01:10:48 which are both important quarterback traits but the things that when people are like if someone's like hey write a 60 second speech about what's great about Matthew Stafford and then write a 60 second speech about what's great about Jalen Hertz. There would be almost no Venn diagram similar
Starting point is 01:11:04 things. But they're both valuable, important quarterback traits. They do it very differently, and their careers have been so different. Stafford was out there in Detroit losing with people saying he's awesome. Hertz was in Philly, winning and people being like, kind of sucks. Like that is what was happening, the fair or not about either of those narratives, so to speak. What I will say is, because I think the Eagles, the most disappointing part of the Eagles for me this year has been their defense. One of the reasons, along with the fact the general good vibes of LeBron James coming to town,
Starting point is 01:11:39 I picked them to go to the Super Bowl, was I thought they would have the number one defense in the NFL. They've had like the number 16 defense in the NFL. If the Eagles win this game and the Rams are sitting at one and three with a game against Buffalo coming up, two games left against the Seahawks, a game left against the Chiefs, we don't know when Miles Garrett's coming back, a game left against the Niners, we don't know when Miles Garrett's coming back. You all of a sudden are like, hold on a second. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:12:06 Could this team be in real, real trouble? Meanwhile, Philly hasn't played well start to finish in any of their three games this year. But if they lose, I think we'll be like, they're going to have time. That division's open and we'll see what it is. But anybody that right now, KW, which I think most people that feel like Stafford's clearly better than hurts, there is nothing that can happen in this game to change their mind. That might frustrate you. That Stafford's better.
Starting point is 01:12:33 No. I just think 5 and 0 is a nice round number. And look, the recency bias of, I was very impressed with the way that Jalen handled the end of the first half. Yes. Of like that. Absolutely. I was like, this is per. And then he came out and was not great for the rest of the game.
Starting point is 01:12:52 So it was wacky. But I feel like early on in this season, we saw DAC mismanaged stuff, Cowboys End of Bluze. Lord knows we saw Drake men. throw a pick to lose the game. And Jaylen Hertz is doing the exact opposite of everything. And I feel like you don't get any credit for the disasters that don't happen. No, that's totally fair.
Starting point is 01:13:14 He's playing it safe. I think Hertz has better intangibles than Stafford. And I'm not saying Stafford doesn't have intangibles, but that's part of Hertz's greatness. And this doesn't just happen to Hertz. Patrick Mahomes is 4-0 against a quarterback, not in his career, but in the playoffs. And everybody swears a blood oath,
Starting point is 01:13:32 that quarterback's the best who's ever played. So, like, it just, I mean, it happens to a lot. The greatest of the greats. Brocos. Screw! Look it up. I know you won't believe it. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:13:41 We got to, I don't know. We got to check. Never beating anybody. Purdy has been cooking. Brew thinks he's the MVP's on number one on Bruce Fowler. That feels like a, not just on this show. Right now, that's a unanimous. Not unanimous is strong.
Starting point is 01:13:56 Or, or, but I feel you, but very close. It is unanimous that he is not right now. Unanimous. that he's in the conversation. More than in the conversation. What are doing MVP right now? Right. We're cutting-edge show in every third.
Starting point is 01:14:09 If you had to, who would who would you say if you were doing it right now? I honestly feel like there is, I know you guys say I'm biased, I think there is a case for Patrick. A small case. I think the case for Patrick
Starting point is 01:14:24 is, it has to be the fact that he got himself ready for week one and the team now is wrong. No, you can't do that. You can't do that. Because it's about performance. Exactly. It's about performance.
Starting point is 01:14:36 In week one, when we walked away from that week. In week one, when we walked away from that week, the MVP was Kenneth Walker. Okay, I understand that. I am saying. You're getting derailed. Sorry. He made passing.
Starting point is 01:14:50 Go ahead. Right now. But anyway. Broncos 49ers. Look, I think will Purdy keep cooking? Is that the question? Yeah. Well, Purdy.
Starting point is 01:15:02 Look, here's what the Denver defense has done in the great quarter. Mahomes, 86 passer rating against them. He was, you know, he got better as the game went on, but didn't have a great game. Trevor, that was the game he played poorly. 64 passer rating, 189 yards. No touchdowns to lose it. Stafford had a 74 passer rating. Now, threw for a bunch of yards, but two interceptions.
Starting point is 01:15:24 So this is an elite defense that has made great quarterbacks look pedestrian. Stafford threw for 390. No, but he's had two touchdown and two picks, right? I know, but gee whiz. He has 74 pass already. But you know passing yards can be, I mean, I like passing yards, and I do think the pick at the end of the game
Starting point is 01:15:46 is a tough one because it was the, you know, one of those picks was the final play of the game. But the pick six should count as a triple negative. Like it flipped the entire game. So I'm not saying he threw for 390 yards. But anyway, I think, It's hard to bet against him right now. He's going to have a bad game here, there, whatever.
Starting point is 01:16:05 But I'm going to, right now I'm going to keep betting on him and think he's going to go out there and play really well. Like, it's impressive that he has only one interception because that's kind of been an issue for him. And this year he seemed to clean that up. We'll see if this is the game where it doesn't. But I think he's going to stay hot and keep going. Yeah, I'm with you.
Starting point is 01:16:24 I think he stays hot simply because, number one, he's playing really well and we're starting to see. it's not just about the guys around him it's about him and his ability and what he brings to his table but I think also when we look at Kyle Shanahan and an opposing defense Van Joseph like who are you preparing for
Starting point is 01:16:41 like in terms of his skill guys who are you locked in on you don't know is Mike Evans going to be available is he going to be but they're spreading the ball around so well and then he's using his legs you have to play for any and everything and he has so much at his disposal right now now, and he is orchestrating that offense better than a lot of quarterbacks in our game.
Starting point is 01:17:04 Period. Stop. Brock Party is ball. He's playing great. And you talk about the Denver, I like the Denver defense. They have not been shut down defense. They have not been extremely a league. They don't well against the quarterbacks, but you're right. If Trent Williams doesn't play parties in trouble. Well, that's against this defense. If Trent Williams doesn't play parties in trouble. Who's on up south? He's going to just use his. He have to use his legs. Time now for the hottest segment in all of sports. It's upset alert. Here's a quick look at the standings.
Starting point is 01:17:34 Yep. Now we introduced parlay's, so if we fell behind by a lot, we could take a gamble. Turns out it was an unwise move because Brew and I both won your actual picks. Brew at Vegas and you at Denver. Well, Bruce's pick was... But then... The Patriots and you added Vegas.
Starting point is 01:17:54 Oh, okay. So whatever it is. Was it? You guys, whatever it is, your parley's made it to where you got zero points. We should stay out of it. So Greg and Coach have three, Wilds has three, Bruce still sitting on the old goose egg. I'm still in the hunt, though. It's very, oh yeah. Anybody's game, thanks to your guys overwhelming mediocrity through three.
Starting point is 01:18:11 Yep, here we go. Well, I just noticed coach went with the chargers to upset the Buffalo Bills. I'm actually going to go back to the Buffalo Bills being upset. Let's go. By your guy. Thank you, Greg. I'm sorry I getting mad at you about the staff. No worries. I knew you'd come back around.
Starting point is 01:18:31 Look, yesterday, yesterday must win. I needed a must win, and I went all in on the Buffalo Bills and why they were going to. But this is a game that I truly believe that when you look at Coach Vrable, Mike Vrable, and what he needs his team to come out and do, they have to be physical. When you watch that Chargers game against the Buffalo Bills, they bully them quite a bit. A lot of turnovers, something that the New England Patriots need to do, can do as a defense, need to get more of it because you're not getting it done offensively. They'll get back to running the ball.
Starting point is 01:19:06 They're going to try to be physical. This is not just exclusively about Drake May. We understand he's struggling. When your quarterback is struggling, the best thing you can do is provide him a running game. They will lean into this running game when you look at this Buffalo defense, although they have great players up front. That back in is very suspect and they haven't been as great as we would like them to believe in the running game. But you can look at the numbers there.
Starting point is 01:19:34 Points per game. They're 21st, giving up 26 points per game. But if you're Drake May and this offense, this is what you need to get back on track. A familiar opponent, an opponent that you're going to buckle up your chin strap. You're going to punch them in the mouth. They're going to try to punch you in the mouth. And you can get back to your brand of football. I believe that they do that.
Starting point is 01:19:53 and Drake May gets some confidence back, his offensive line gains confidence, his running game gains confidence, and that overall team defensively, they've been really good, they get some confidence based on the way their offense plays, and they come out of high mark giving the Buffalo Bills at first loss. Excellent job. Greg, that was just perfection. Thank you. Excellent. This isn't must win.
Starting point is 01:20:19 You don't get points, man. I don't need a point. I won. You're talking to the must win champ. Did you not remember? All right, I got a dozy. Okay, good. It's not a ton of points, but hey, it's what I believe.
Starting point is 01:20:32 Cleveland. Tonight. Tonight, beating the Steelers, two and a half point dogs. I got some crazy numbers here. The Steelers are three and 16 on Thursday night road games since the merger in 1970. What is that? They're about on Thursdays. There's more.
Starting point is 01:20:52 Just like, who Hold on, but listen, listen. Anyone who puts you? You're going to come to my side by the time. I'm done with this. Including an 0 and 9 record in their division. Yeah. In those, they've never beaten one, a division rival on the road on a Thursday night.
Starting point is 01:21:11 Never. Cleveland somehow, some way. We read the same article. Nine straight wins on Thursday night at home. on Thursday nights. Now, that may date back to Jim Brown for all I know. I'm just saying, like, I don't know how in the world they want nine straight home games on Thursday nights. Because they don't get Monday or Sunday night football.
Starting point is 01:21:35 So this is, if you're a Brown, this is your time to show up. Thursday. How many Thursdays? I mean, but anyway, look, they're obviously playing okay. They both, both these teams are kind of similar in that. They both have good defenses. I don't believe Aaron, right, like, obviously, historically. phenomenal. I don't believe he's that guy anymore. I think what we saw Greg last week was an aberration.
Starting point is 01:21:59 He had a couple of big yardage games last year. I don't think he's going to be able to do that consistently. And I think this is going to be a close, hard-fought game. And as I said in the butt list, Deshawn Watson has cooked in fourth quarter. So I think he can make a big player too in the fourth quarter. We've never had a Thursday night game on upset alert. Oh, first time. Because we're usually doing on Friday. Oh, that's exactly right. They'd be cheating otherwise. Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 01:22:25 Good for me that I could get this one. I'm going back to the well. I am doing it apart. You haven't learned your lesson. Because I have one thought in my mind, and anyone who falls under that thought, I'm picking. Offensive coordinator, guess what? I don't think you're satisfactory. I think you're actually very good.
Starting point is 01:22:50 Quarterback. I don't think you're bad. I don't think you're good. I think you're actually great. Justin Herbert and Drake May. Josh McDaniels and Mike and Mike McDaniel. Yes. Chargers beat the Seahawks straight up.
Starting point is 01:23:11 And I will add to Greg's pick, Patriots overbills straight up. I mean, 19.5 points. Yeah, he can do it. But Greg just picked the. You're a hometown car route. It's, you know, it's allowed, but you can pick the same. I'm letting you know right now because we have to get to Nick's picks. Do you have like reasons for this dude?
Starting point is 01:23:32 We got to move. I have said, I'm going to do one like that Kevin Lasbach's, I can say. We are adding a rule starting next week that parlayers are only allowed if they are graphiced, meaning you can't add them on the fly. It's for your own self-revention. I get the parlay. You have to decide by two. If you're going to do a parlay, and if they don't have the graphics ready, it means you're not doing it.
Starting point is 01:23:59 I feel good. So he's doing the chargers who you don't believe in against the Seahawks. They're not. Justin Herber and Drake May are not two of the worst quarterbacks in the league. For Nick's picks. Time now for Nick's picks. Coming off another red hot winning weekend, obviously. It's why I'm going back to Las Vegas.
Starting point is 01:24:17 Run it when you're hot. Two in one last week. Now, listen, the Seahawks pick wasn't good. Jack's pick was getting points. They won outright by 100. Raiders pick was they won outright, not by 100, but they won outright as dogs. O and three, week one, rearview mirror. The lock houses.
Starting point is 01:24:34 Two losses. It does not. KW. Oh, you missed them. I did miss my one lock of the year, so we're all in one of the locks. I don't love the locks anyway. All the picks should be treated as locks. First one, direct contradiction of these two bozos.
Starting point is 01:24:47 The bills are going to roll the Patriots. What are we talking about? The bills are excellent. The Patriots are bad. The Bill's quarterback seemingly is healthy. The Patriots quarterback is wink, wink, not feeling well on his right shoulder. There is no controversy in Buffalo.
Starting point is 01:25:03 They're feeling awesome even when they're wearing those terrible ugly jerseys. Meanwhile, the Patriots are explaining, no, the coach actor likes the quarterback and this is going on and why did we agree to do those radio heads? Do we really need that extra money? The bills 31. The Patriots, 13.
Starting point is 01:25:19 This one is not close and it is panic time. in New England. Next game. An ugly game. A game we don't necessarily want to watch, so to speak. Except, of course, if you're watching on Fox at 1 o'clock and something. Here's the deal. This is other good games on Fox. I'm telling you. There's other good Fox games available.
Starting point is 01:25:40 I'm going to be too in this. I'm definitely going to be too. I'm going to be a box. I get it. For a Fox, toberfest. It's not the point. The point is this. As much as the ice man, Ben Johnson, and Danny Parkings
Starting point is 01:25:58 want to push me to the Bears propaganda. And I was impressed with them Monday night. Yeah. I'm not laying three and a half points with either Baygent, who hasn't started in a couple years, or Case Keenham, who's destined to come down a bit, and they're on a short week. The Jets have moved the ball at really well.
Starting point is 01:26:21 Geno's playing well. I'm getting three and a half points, and the more I think about it should be a captivating affair. Yes. Now you talk about it. Yeah, you're going to be locked. I just think the Jets can win outright, and they certainly three, you just can't have your third string quarterback
Starting point is 01:26:35 or your backup quarterback laying three and a half points. Totally great. It's just too many. It's too many points. And last but not least, going back to the well. The Jags are better than these teams, and they keep being underdogs against them. They were better than the Patriots.
Starting point is 01:26:49 They were getting points. They beat them by 100. What's up, Kate? No, I didn't, I forgot. The Jags are getting to an app point. Also, everyone out here talking about revenge spots. Oh, Derek Henry Revenge. What is the game that temporarily derailed the prince's ascension to super start-up?
Starting point is 01:27:11 Fresh off, one of the greatest playoff comebacks in NFL history. Sitting at 8 and 3, first place in the conference on the line. He was playing these Cincinnati Bengals, who mangled his lower body and then didn't have a cart for him to take care of him out of the stadium. The Jags went outright. The bills blow out the pads. The Jets keep it close against the Bears.
Starting point is 01:27:33 The Jags went outright. That's a 3-0 weekend to get us to, I don't know, seven and five. I think it's solid. Solid 2-1. No lock to you. If you had a lock there, no. Lock up the bills.
Starting point is 01:27:44 Wow. Live from New York, it's first things first overtime. Is there a chance? The Raiders slow down. Patrick Mahomes, Parkins, Nacho, and Nick Wright will be in the building. What time is this game for? Abiza. What a life.
Starting point is 01:28:00 Or in East Coast, 125. Got you. Nacho sounds like he's got a great. He's got a good one. Oh, my goodness. Meanwhile, one of the hottest segments that Danny invented, it's called Chips on the Table. Again, it's gambling themed. Well, sure.
Starting point is 01:28:16 But everyone seems to like this segment. Good. I'm glad. I enjoy it as well. It's fantastic. It's not going well. Why isn't it going well? I'm losing.
Starting point is 01:28:24 No, I don't care. That's not how you judge a segment. The segment is going on. I've been terrible. Yeah, by that and that's a good. You always three and two. And finally, Parkins' picks. Parkins, do you see my pick?
Starting point is 01:28:36 I did. What do you think? He was so a fine pick. What? Yeah, it was fine. You defended it? I'm worried about my own picks. I got blinders off.
Starting point is 01:28:43 Wait, Herbert, I was trying to like me. He needs a big rally. He stepped on my corner a little too much. Well, you abandoned him. He doesn't believe, guys. Just wait for my picks today. I like to be lined up with you. I think it'd be good.
Starting point is 01:28:58 Oh, okay. I'm already not going to Las Vegas. A couple of losers. Oh, Wilde's maddy's not coming to Vegas? Like he would ever come. Is Hubs going? You won't come to dinner. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:29:08 You would never go to Vegas. Yeah, yeah. You want to go to Vegas? I guess we'll never know if I don't get invited. You know, there's seat next to me available. 37 V. Yes, I'm there. 37?
Starting point is 01:29:19 No. Exactly. I don't even get into the. He didn't know there were that many rows on the plane. Steelers trading Joey Porter Jr. to the Cowboys. Jerry Jones said he was going to make some moves, and here we are. 2027-6, 22nd round pick. Joey Porter Jr., Instagramming.
Starting point is 01:29:40 Here I come down his seatbelt. And then Dusty told me the music was Kenny Rogers, the gambler. Oh, overtime. Yeah, I think that was more about, I get it, Texas. I understand. I'm just saying for us. What does this move mean for the Cowboys, Barkins? It feels like a huge advantage for an NFL team to have a feeder system.
Starting point is 01:30:05 Yeah. I didn't know that was allowed. Like the Cubs have like the Iowa Cubs, NBA teams have G-League teams that kind of they can work. The Cowboys have the Pittsburgh Steelers. I didn't know that was allowed in the NFL. Let's just, I want to go through this because I will talk about this trade. on its merits because I think it's a great move for Dallas because I think it's a relatively low risk for them with a pretty high upside. Joey Porter Jr. is only 26 years old. So they should
Starting point is 01:30:33 get a top 15 corner for his prime. So on its face, I like it for Dallas. But I think the bigger story here, let's look at the three trades these teams have made since May of 2025. So George Pickens is a second round pick for Pittsburgh. They give up a third and a fifth. and immediately get the best out of George Pickett. He's a top four receiver in football last year. He's second team all pro. The Cowboys won that trade. Yes.
Starting point is 01:31:02 Right? That one's done. Broderick Jones was a first round pick. Now, he's not starting yet for Dallas, so maybe this will end up being a win for Pittsburgh. And he was disappointing in Pittsburgh. Very disappointing. But the Cowboys are buying very low on a former first round pick, still getting him on his rookie deal,
Starting point is 01:31:21 and not giving up much. It's a flyer. So far, can't judge whether that's a winner or loss. Joey Porter, Jr. was the 30-second pick in the draft. It was technically a second-round pick. It was the year where there were only 31 first-round picks. But so he's been good for three years. And then there's this contract dispute or whatever.
Starting point is 01:31:42 And a 28-second-round pick is not a valuable draft commodity. Like, it will be in 18 months, but it's not, there's no immediate dividends for it. So, oh, here he is. He's probably going to play. He's ready to go. He's probably going to play. Are you worried about his back? Honestly, I'm not.
Starting point is 01:32:02 But it just feels to me like for Dallas, none of the investment on any of those picks that they give up, none of that draft capital is that significant. And they get back a premium talent at receiver, a by-low tackle, who is a first-round talent, and a guy who, when he's played, Joey Porter Jr. 13th in the NFL and completion percentage against for guys who were targeted at least 100.
Starting point is 01:32:29 Top 15 is the exact right rank. Yeah, he's not elite, but he's very solid. But at a super premium position, and you're betting on getting him for his athletic prime, his age 26, 27, 28, 29 seasons for a 2028 second. So I just, I love the aggressiveness for Dallas because I also think one more point. this probably means they're not going to pay Pickens long term. You paid Quinn and Williams. You paid CD.
Starting point is 01:32:57 You paid DAC. You make this trade for Porter. You're probably paying Joey Porter Jr. So this is the year of the next two years that you have the most talent because you also have pickings on the franchise tag. So I have no problem giving up a little bit of future capital to go a little extra all in in the one year where you have all of that premium talent. I really like it for Dallas.
Starting point is 01:33:19 I agree with all that. They're clearly a better team now. The cornerback was a position. I mean, it looks like the whole defense is a position of weakness at this point. But cornerback was maybe there were, especially with the injuries. So even him playing this next game will be huge because like Kobe Durant and some others might be out. So it makes them better. The thing is they're going to pay him, you would suspect, big money going forward.
Starting point is 01:33:46 Their defense better improve and they better start showing it this. Like I said, I saw some signs. against Baltimore that would make me optimistic that the defense can get better. This is another one because, granted, it was an odd situation, but the play with seven seconds left, that's to some degree defensive backfield.
Starting point is 01:34:06 This helps that theoretically. So I think it's a great move, and we'll see if that defense can start improving and just get to mediocre, and then in that division especially, they have a chance. Listen, it obviously helps the Cowboys, this year to some degree. Like it can't hurt them this year.
Starting point is 01:34:26 He's not going to be, you know, he's not going to fight guys in the locker room, so it's not going to be a negative. And you're giving up players that are not yet on your team in future graphics. So I get that. I don't know that I believe that Cowboys are close enough to where making player away trades makes sense to me. I understand your point that they might feel like, well, we're not going to have pickings after this year, but that's maybe in part because now.
Starting point is 01:34:52 they now have a different guy to pay. Like, had they not made this trade, they maybe could keep pickings after this year if they wanted to. I didn't view the Cowboys going into the year as a true Super Bowl contender the way most of the media did through three weeks. I don't view it, and I don't think Joey Porter Jr. fixes that. And it feels to me like the Cowboys keep making moves to try to make up for the mistake of trading Micah Parsons,
Starting point is 01:35:17 which I was told was made because they didn't want to pay him that money and they valued those young draft picks, but they have now traded away more capital to bring in Quinn and Williams and Joey Porter Jr. than they got in return for Michael Parsons, and those two guys are going to end up costing them about 50% more than Micah Parsons would have cost them, and I don't think those two guys combined
Starting point is 01:35:42 have the impact Michael Parsons does. So I think that part is just a almost procedural mistake by the Cowboys that they keep grasping at to try to coterize that wound. The Steelers piece is a very interesting one, which is I wonder if
Starting point is 01:36:02 their organizational philosophy of, we simply won't ever have a bad contract. And the way they make sure of that is, they won't guarantee money after year one of a deal to anyone other than quarterbacks or T.J. Watt. They made an exception
Starting point is 01:36:18 for T.J. Watt because he's a future First Ballad Hall of Famer. I wonder if that more so than Tomlin or any other reason we've assigned to it is why they are stuck in the middle. High floor, low ceiling. Yes. Because they never have bad contracts, they won't bottom out. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 01:36:36 But because they have to trade away some of their most talented players that they drafted, which are supposed to be the core of your team, homegrown stars, but they won't give them the best of those players. obviously want modern-day NFL contracts, it lowers their ceiling. And so they're just stuck right there. Sorry to interrupt you. It's how you end up with Michael Pittman instead of George Pickens. You know, like, it's just a, I would want to be shooting for the ceiling. And the players have to look at this.
Starting point is 01:37:08 I know Jalen Ramsey came out very strong all along, so you've got to pay Joey Porter Jr., but like the only guy who could be homegrown that gets rewarded in Pittsburgh has to be a first ballot Hall of Famer in T.J. Watt? Like, that's not a great way to endear yourself to your homegrown players. No, I mean, if you're Derek Harmon, you know, the first round pick D. DeLinman from a couple years ago, he's looking at this like, so I'm just going to be in an ugly contract dispute with this team where I'm going to have to go play somewhere else or I'm going to have to take a deal that I wouldn't take anywhere else. That is, it's a tough way to do business.
Starting point is 01:37:38 Drake May headed up to Buffalo. Patriots are six and a half point underdogs. Drake has thrown six picks already this year. He threw eight all of the last year. Now, he has had some trouble with the ball, and he was listed on the injury report with this shoulder that I spotted really weeks ago. Also, he had lost a fumble because of blood all over the ball. Here's Josh Allen on Drake.
Starting point is 01:38:06 As Drake's a smart kid, extremely talented. He's going to figure it out. He's got the work ethic. I got a lot of respect for him and what he's been able to do in his early career. But he's, you know, he'll find a way out of it. I hope so, Josh. Thanks for that rousing bit of support.
Starting point is 01:38:27 Danny, are you giving Drake a chance to outplay Josh Allen? No. And I was watching about two hours ago when Bruce said no to a similar question. And you guys asked to come up with a bet. Oh, yes, I asked for that. Right. You said, oh, I thought you would be great. Bruce said it's whatever he wants.
Starting point is 01:38:47 But he said it's not happening. Has Brooke just climbed a mountain? Do I have to, I mean, a quick bit of more. Has Brew won any of these quarterback bets yet? No, we famously went to that dinner because he said that Shador Sanders was going to outplay Caleb Williams. Oh, I forgot about that. Another one. That was costly.
Starting point is 01:39:05 I thought there was two. Go ahead. I mean, I think we all have to walk through the door in Drake May jerseys. We need something worse than that. That would be humiliating. Why do I have to do anything? This is nothing to do with me. Well, you kind of disrespected the door last week with the wig,
Starting point is 01:39:24 so I feel like, I mean, you already went through the door. He loved it. Yeah, I did. I really don't want to walk through the door with a Drake May jersey. That's not a punishment. That's a treat. Okay, and then what's the flip side? What does he have to do?
Starting point is 01:39:37 Well, he's, I mean, if Josh Allen out pays, outplays Drake May, I mean, I don't know, buy us coffee? Like, that's going to happen. Buy us all lunch. How about that? Yeah, yeah, sandwiches. For the staff. For the staff?
Starting point is 01:39:52 I mean, come on. You've never sat in row 20 on an airplane. So I have to spend $300 to buy sandwiches for the staff, and you have to walk 10 feet? All right. Honestly, can I be honest? I didn't even consider your side of the wager. It's not going to happen.
Starting point is 01:40:10 I actually think that this is, there's a better chance, and you do your vibes check. What are the vibes of the Patriots if two things happen here? The bills blow out the Patriots and Josh dominates Drake. As big as a fan of Patriots fan, that is certainly on the board. Of course it's on the board. It's probably the most likely outcome.
Starting point is 01:40:37 And then you guys go home and your next two games are against the Raiders and the Jets. If the struggles continue in that spot and the noise of the... of the Boston media and now he's on the injury report with the shoulder. Drake May getting booed at home? Like, is that on the board here? I don't know if Drake Mays personally would be being booed, but the offense getting booed. That's what I'm saying. Never booed Drake May.
Starting point is 01:41:00 A three boo. We boo a verb. What's a verb? A verb is an action word. I know. I know that. I'm aware. But I mean, what do you mean by that?
Starting point is 01:41:15 We would never boo Drake May. You wouldn't call him booed. But if the Patriots lose this game and then boo while he's on the field. Opening drive three and out. Opening drive three and out. There could be a little bit of that. That to me is just,
Starting point is 01:41:28 we're very close to this getting out of hand is maybe a touch strong. You guys were in the Super Bowl last year. But I just feel like this has the makings of getting ugly. The player and the coach not being on the same page, getting blown out by a division of that is fake. I believe that is fake. that it's starting to become blood in the water like,
Starting point is 01:41:49 hey, throw anything out there and it will now stick to the wall. Can I, can I, the, I think it is almost definitively fake, the idea that like, ah, Drake May wasn't Vrabel's guy. Like Vrable, I think that part is, and it seems like the person that reported it came on the radio day, was like, to be clear, I know I reported it, but my source could have made it up. Like, I don't know why everyone, he's like, I'm just reporting what someone told me. But to be clear, the person who told me that is not trustworthy at all.
Starting point is 01:42:18 And so, like, that one, that I think is nonsense. I think Rable, I think the coaching staff being not on the same page as Drake as far as what's up with your shoulder, I'm not willing to say that's fake. I'm not willing to say it's 100% real, but I'm not willing to, that to me is even if that hadn't been reported, that's what it felt like to me. It felt like Drake was kind of saying, yeah, my shoulder's fine, guys. And Brable was like, why are you asking me about his shoulder? And that I thought was real. There was definitely a disconnect there. I was strictly speaking about the injury situation.
Starting point is 01:42:57 And if the poor play continues and there is excuse making on one side of it being injury related. And the coaching staff doesn't want to make those excuses. That is the only thing the Boston media is going to be asking about if he continues to play poorly. And if the quarterback and coach keep giving different versions of the answer on that and you lose games and play poorly, I think this could get ugly. And it did, here's the thing on the injury piece, KW, that did, I do think has now put them behind the eight ball from a PR narrative standpoint. The fact that because, and again, I'm one of six people in the world that cares about the NFL's injury report rules. But the, you know, five of those other six are people that work in front. in offices and don't want to be fined.
Starting point is 01:43:42 Because the Patriots added him to the injury report and then had to be like, yeah, the reason he wasn't on the injury report before but is now is because it happened in the Jags game. Like that's the, you're going to be chasing the tale of that what I believe to be a nonsense story. Whether he hurt or not, the idea that he was totally healthy going into the Jags game and then came out of the Jags game unhealthy,
Starting point is 01:44:10 is not what any of us saw. You know what I mean? Of course. But that's what, but that has to, Josh McDaniel said it, and that now has to be the story. Or else they're, you know,
Starting point is 01:44:20 it's just absurd. The only, right, the only fix is they play well and win. Yeah, that could, yeah. That would be great.
Starting point is 01:44:28 Nobody cares, but I, they're out on that, and I think it answers some of like, how was he on the injury report for the Super Bowl, but he, like, lit up the Seahawks in the fourth quarter,
Starting point is 01:44:39 and it had a pain, shot and then like how can he underthrow AJ Brown where I was like uh-oh and then later on look great I do not think the injury uh sort of presents itself linearly I think like sometimes it's there
Starting point is 01:44:57 sometimes it's not some throws hurt some throws don't I think that is going to be their their escape hatch yeah I don't think I don't think that's how injuries that's what I yeah that's what I'm saying that's why that's an injury he's saying it's a gray area hurt injured. I think there's a better chance of,
Starting point is 01:45:15 and I mean this seriously, Trevion Henderson breaking a 50-plus yard touchdown run than Drake. Yes. Both can happen. No, but I think there's a better chance of Trayvon. Yeah, I think this one gets ugly for Buffalo. I mean, in Buffalo's direction.
Starting point is 01:45:31 And I think the Pats, we said going into the year, KW, and this is maybe a silver lining, that, hey, you guys are going to be underdogs in three of your four games. It doesn't mean you can't have a, good season, but just the vagus line is three of the four games, you're going to be underdogs. If they lose this game,
Starting point is 01:45:46 they will have been underdogs in three of the four games and lost those three. Margin doesn't matter. There was always a way where you start one and three and still find your way to ten wins. I think you're going to have to find that way. I feel as wildly confident in this one as I'd like to be. No, I would. Last year. Speaking of people leaking
Starting point is 01:46:02 confidence, Parkins' Picks. Parkins, how did you do last week? You don't have your chains on? You don't have your leather gloves. The leather gloves really never made an appearance in picks. Chains, I got to have a winning record for Chains. Everybody knows that. That's the rules. I don't think about just a point.
Starting point is 01:46:16 You used to do another O for you. No, it was one and two last week. Luckily, the Chiefs saved him. I mean, the Chiefs, three and a half point favorites. They win by three. Oh, yeah, and the Ravens, they had total control of that case. I'm not saying that either. They won by three.
Starting point is 01:46:32 Saints was looking fine until it wasn't. They lost outright. Yeah, I know. It was looking fine until it wasn't. It's a week four Season record four and five four and five. Nick and over time.
Starting point is 01:46:43 Nick and I are tied. Neither one's the last stand. The week is hot. What is this? This is the last stand. We're back, yes. Why I didn't love it in upset alert
Starting point is 01:46:53 is because I wanted to do it in picks and sure, can they win outright? Absolutely. Justin Herbert. The Seahawks turn the ball over a lot. You love the Seahawks. I know.
Starting point is 01:47:03 And they allowed Marcus Marriota to score, score, score, score, score. Now, Justin Herbert. Last stand, man. What are you upset about? This is the same narrative of the Patriots. Josh Allen turns the ball over.
Starting point is 01:47:16 Both quarterbacks are great but playing bad. And you said there's zero chance Drake May can play well, but all of a sudden, Justin Herbert, I don't know if you've met this guy. He believes in Justin Herbert more than he believes in Drake May. It's the same narrative. He doesn't think they're in the same level. The question isn't, is Justin Herbert going to outplay Sam Darnold?
Starting point is 01:47:34 It's can they cover the spread? Yes. You're not picking outright wins? No, I just spray it on this. Chargers plus seven. So you've got the Seahawks winning. I mean, I think that they win. I think this is going to be a competitive game.
Starting point is 01:47:45 It's going to be a competitive game. Remember, he still has the chargers getting to 10 wins. Exactly. It's going to be very difficult. Yeah, it's going to be very difficult. Like the 92 charges. Like the 92 chargers. Let's throw up the graphic.
Starting point is 01:47:57 Justin Herbert as a 7 point underdog. It doesn't happen much. The one problem is the one time he didn't cover was last week. And he got five turnovers in that spot. That's okay. He's due. Exactly. He doesn't not cover twice in a row. Let's get to the next game.
Starting point is 01:48:10 Troy was kind enough to remind me that I picked the Rams over the Eagles in the playoffs last year, or two years ago and in the regular season last year. They didn't cover neither of those spots. We're going back to the well. Rams is a three-point favorites. Pooka's playing. I think there's been nothing impressive with the Eagles' offense so far. And the Eagles defense that got lit up by Case Keenum last week,
Starting point is 01:48:31 they have been amazing at home the last couple of years under Vic Fangio. including the playoffs, except when they play Matt Stafford. We throw it up. Stafford moves the ball. That playoff game in the snow, if that was a 62-minute game, I think they would have won it. They blew the huge lead in the regular season last year. I think Matt Stafford gets the job done.
Starting point is 01:48:50 Pooka back. I'll happily lay the three with the Rams in Philadelphia. And last but not least, whenever you can back Jalen Daniels, an undrafted rookie out of Kansas, as a three and a half point underdog in his NFL debut, you have to do it. And you say, you're going to do... This is not a way to get off a losing streak.
Starting point is 01:49:09 I'm going to tell you right now it is. You've never seen their quarterback throw a pass. Oh, was I not watching preseason highlights today before the show? I get in at 10.30. The show's at 5. I've had a lot of time to come up with the logic. He was good in the preseason. Jalen Daniels is going to rush for a touchdown in this game,
Starting point is 01:49:25 but it's not going to matter. Look at what Green Bay's defense has done so far this year. It is awful. that is against Carson Wentz and Michael Penix and Gino Smith. So they can absolutely, in the heat of South Florida, giving up three and the hook, lose that. Even if they win by three, I win the game. Listen, I need the bucks to win, so I'm rooting for you here.
Starting point is 01:49:49 But a player that you've, I don't think you ever saw play a college football game. Oh, I'm not watching a lot of Rock Chalk Jhawk football. It's not. You're not. I like it. Anytime touchdown score. Yeah, Jalen Daniels. Absolutely.
Starting point is 01:50:05 There we go. It's going to have to run. Excellent picks. Thank you very much. That looks like 3 and 0 to me. Two and one at worst. Can the Raiders slow down Patrick Mahomes? Parkin's going to be in the building.
Starting point is 01:50:15 It's his birthday. When's your birthday for real? The 22nd. Happy birthday, man. We're going early. That is early. That's way too early. That's way to early.
Starting point is 01:50:22 For next birthday. It is. When's your birthday? Saturday? Happy Frenemememones Thursday here on the OT. Nick and I are going to Vegas, so we'll do that right now as well. Patrick Mahomes has been dominant against the Raiders.
Starting point is 01:50:37 Me and Nick will be there. Should be fun. Max Crosby, the 3-0 Raiders, though. This game's all of a sudden pretty huge. This is Mahomes on the relationship and opponent that is Max Crosby. Take a listen. He's one of the best competitors in the league. I mean, I think that's where the respect comes from,
Starting point is 01:50:54 is that we kind of have that mutual want to be the best on the field when we're out there. For me, I just know when I step on that football football, I'm going to need my best because he's going to bring his best, and I think that's when you get the best games out there. I don't think we've ever been to an NFL game together, so I'm excited. Oh, okay, I didn't know that, but sure. I'm just thinking about it. We've done a lot of things.
Starting point is 01:51:15 I'm excited about it. Chances that the Raiders finally can actually slow down Mahomes and the Chiefs. Oh, very, very slim, and I don't actually think that's their path to victory. I think their path to victory is winning a high-scoring affair. I think this Chief's offense is like the Chief's offense is basically every year Eric Bian, he's been the offensive coordinator, where you should expect them to get to 27-ish and not be surprised at all if they put up 30 plus. I think the Raiders have been winning. Crosby's great, but the Raiders have been winning because of their passing game and their offense.
Starting point is 01:51:54 The Raider, and I think the Raiders will be able to move the ball. The in Spags his whole tenure as a chief's defensive coordinator, the one spot that has been a consistent problem spot is elite tight ends. Bowers is the best tight end in football. I think they're going to run a ton of 12 personnel with two tight ends out there with Michael Meyer. So I think the Raiders, if the Chief's defense doesn't have the type of performance at in week one, they should be able to score. I just think this Chief's offense right now has a very strong argument that it's just the best offense in the league
Starting point is 01:52:33 despite the fact that it doesn't have reliable receivers. They have the best yardage differential of any team in the league. They are a top five scoring team right now. They are, I think, third and point differential, all those stats that people, when the Chiefs were winning but winning close ugly, they would use against them. Mahomes is absolutely dialed.
Starting point is 01:52:53 And Kenneth Walker's been the best back in the league. And as I anticipated would be the case, the fact that in the week leading up to playing the Chiefs, teams are spending half their practice time, more than half their practice time, figuring out how they're going to stop Kenneth Walker has opened things up for Patrick so much. So I'm not saying the Chiefs can't lose the game.
Starting point is 01:53:21 What I'm saying is if they lose, I think they lose the way they were going to lose the Colts game. Because a shootout. Lose a shootout rather than they lose the game 2117. So I have been very impressed with the Chiefs also. Not as much as you, but I probably have moved more from I had that missing the playoffs to their 3 and O and I completely agree. Mahomes is dialed.
Starting point is 01:53:44 I'll lead with the tight end point first because we were of the same mind. It hasn't just been elite tight ends. Since 2024, they've just been straight up bad against tight ends. Correct. Seventh most catches, sixth most yards from tight ends since 2024. And Bowers looked amazing coming off that injury last week. Mares very good. So, I mean, they could combine for 20 plus targets to tight ends in this game if the Raiders really go crazy.
Starting point is 01:54:09 I guess what I would just say to you about the Chiefs is like, I know we've disagreed a lot on that Broncos game week one. I thought the Broncos shot themselves in the foot a ton. And then Indy's defense is really bad. And then you played not a real NFL. team in Miami. They're not fielding a real roster. And there was a 17-play drive that Miami had where they converted all those
Starting point is 01:54:30 third downs. Like Miami was just really like they're not good so they only scored 10 points in that game. They moved the ball though. I thought the Chief Stevens was worse against Miami than against Indy. And I know that sounds ridiculous because Indy scored 30 and Miami scored 10, but that's how I felt watching. Yeah, so I just
Starting point is 01:54:45 maybe the Raiders aren't good enough to actually capitalize on it yet. But I think some of the numbers Like the yardage differential, a lot of that is inflated by the Denver game. The scoring differential. I think a lot of that is inflated by holding Miami to 10, even though they move the ball at will. I don't think that the Chiefs are as dominant to my eye test as the results of them in the box. I guess you're my question.
Starting point is 01:55:06 Maybe through three weeks, nobody. But like, I just, what are your two games out of the buy? I forget the order of it. They play. It's Chargers. The first game out of the buy. And then Seattle. And then Seattle.
Starting point is 01:55:17 And then at Seattle at Denver. Right. That is the stretch to me that is going to really be the litmus test of, like, good team or contender for the Chiefs. Do you think there's anything that can happen where you think the Chiefs aren't a contender? Give me a break. Dude, I think that they are a good team that is relying way too much on Kenneth Walker and some circumstances in the early part of their schedule. I think they are good. I'm not convinced yet that they are great.
Starting point is 01:55:46 I have a fourth and top 10 Wednesday. If they're not a contender, then who in the AFC is. I think the bills are a contender. The bills have not been more impressive through three weeks than the Chiefs. Okay. Flatly. The bills were poised to lose in week one to a Texan team that hasn't won a game. So, 36.
Starting point is 01:56:08 And the bills last week turned the ball over five times against a team that hasn't won a game. You can't talk to me about the Chief's schedule and who they played. and use the prop up the bills. When the bills, I don't even remember the bills played in week two, when the bills, week one and week three opponents are winless teams. The Lions, the Homo Barre. The Lions, thank you, are winless teams. Like, again, I, there is, if the Chiefs win this weekend,
Starting point is 01:56:39 coming out of the by, they will obviously be the Wobagon Chargers, and then they can lose to the Seahawks and Broncos and be totally fine. splitting with the Broncos and losing in Seattle doesn't make you lose contender status. So now if the Raiders defense shuts down the Chief's offense, that would be concerning to me. I don't see that happening. The Chief's young defense getting exposed by the Raiders' offense,
Starting point is 01:57:05 maybe we'll see. All right, we will see in person. Let's go to Philadelphia where the Eagles host the Rams, massive games Sunday, one Eastern on Fox. Both teams needing to bounce back after really tough week three losses. We're going to hear from Stafford. and hurts on what they're learning coming out of that game and ahead of this match over the scene like they play now every year take a listen as far as turnovers go I'm going to continue
Starting point is 01:57:27 to play aggressive obviously you know don't want to turn the ball over but just try to aggressively take what the defense gives me when I look at that game a lot of opportunities out there a lot of moments that we all wish we could have back and then all you can do is learn from it so it was one of the key questions I asked the team following the game is who are we? You know, ask yourself that question because that's a choice you can make and, you know, being deliberate and intentional on how we move forward so we can continue to improve. Fascinating game on a number of levels and they're both coming off losses. So who needs a bounce back win more?
Starting point is 01:58:07 I think either fan base in different ways, because the very different fan bases in Los Angeles and Philly, will justifiably panic a bit with a loss. But I think the Rams need the win more. Because I think the Rams are primed if they lose this game to be one and four with, because the following games against Buffalo, with still four games remaining against what you could argue are the three best teams in football, Seattle, the Niners and the Chiefs. And, you know, the Bills game, the Bills are one of those teams.
Starting point is 01:58:44 They have the game after this. Yep. I also think that the Rams are in a bit of an identity crunch defensively right now. Like what, without Miles Garrett, what are we actually going to be great at defensively? I don't know. Offensively, I think they have neglected Kyron Williams to a degree. Now, Stafford, you know, threw for a ton of yards on Denver, also made that awful mistake. The Eagles, listen, the Eagles haven't played a great start defensively.
Starting point is 01:59:15 finished game, you could argue, since the Super Bowl. I don't know if they played one game last year where all four quarters, you're like, that team looks awesome. But I also feel like they're almost used to living in the murky, you know, disappointing win or uninspiring, and they have more of a margin of error. So I think it's the ranks. So I think that standings wise, like the point that you made is almost impossible to refute, the Niners are undefeated and in first place.
Starting point is 01:59:45 looking awesome. But I'm talking about the Rams missing the playoffs. No, I understand. And three teams can come out of that division to make the playoffs. We saw it happened literally last year. But they will have a real uphill climb if the Rams lose this game and fall with the record and all of that. Pooka coming back is, I think, potentially huge for them on the offensive side of the ball. I am just not, even if the Rams lose, partly because of injuries and partly because of the schedule, I will still come out of that game pretty convinced that the Rams are good. Like, I will be shocked if by the end of the year,
Starting point is 02:00:19 the Rams are not a double-digit win team. I will be shocked by it. Even if they lose? Yeah. But you don't think the Eagles are that good. Yeah, I don't. So if they lose to a team that you don't think is that good, and their one win came when the opposing team quarterback blew out his knee,
Starting point is 02:00:37 you still will just be like they have to be good? Sean McVease had one losing season, and they've had injuries, they've had a tough schedule and this is a cross-country flight on the road. Philly has not been good, you said all of last year, 24 against Washington, 24 points scored, 24 points scored against Tennessee, seven points scored against the Bears defense. Their offense has not been good at all this year. They have two rushing touchdowns this year.
Starting point is 02:01:06 Jalen Hertz's EPA per dropback is worse than Deshawn Watson and Malik Willis. Like their offense was bad last year and it has been bad this year. I have no reason to believe that they're going to come out of this and be a good team. Their defense is supposed to be what's carrying them. It has been – mediocre. And exposed by Case Keenoms. I assume the defense will be better. But I have no reason to believe the Eagles offense is going to be better.
Starting point is 02:01:31 Like what would I point to as being like they were bad all of last year and they've been bad this year against bad teams? So were they bad – did they have a bad offense all of last year? They were below average, like below average yards per game, points per game, third – down per game. Like, they were bad in pretty much every offense is category. Right. They just situationally found ways to win.
Starting point is 02:01:49 Correct. They won low-scoring games. I think the, I understand what you're point about the Eagles. My biggest concern about the Eagles or biggest disappointment is actually, I thought they're going to have the number one defense in football and said they have like the number 15 defense in football. I think they are more likely to handle a bad stretch better than the Rams because the Rams were, it felt like, so confident that this year.
Starting point is 02:02:15 year was almost the regular season, at least, a fade accompli. And if you're sitting at one and three with a game against Buffalo coming up on national TV, I think it's very nerve-wracking in Los Angeles. All right, good stuff. We're bringing out the felt here for Chips on the table. I will see you tomorrow. Yeah, in Las Vegas. 0-37. Yeah. Greg Jennings, Chips on the table for Brock Purdy. It's next on the O.T. Welcome back to the OT hanging out with Greg Jennings in the OT casino. It's time for chips on the table. Pretty simple game.
Starting point is 02:02:51 You follow along. We pick games, no spread. We put chips on there for our confidence. And I got to be honest, these chip stacks used to be a lot bigger. We started with 50 apiece. Let's see how we're doing on the scoreboard. Jeff Schwartz filled in for team coach and Greg last week. And he made up for it a little bit.
Starting point is 02:03:08 Gained you guys a chip. You guys are back in the lead. We're both down, though, from our initial starting stack of 50. You feeling good, Greg? Feeling great. We're back where we need to be. We're in the lead. You're in the league.
Starting point is 02:03:20 But, I mean, we're still, no one should be proud if we're down. Let's pick a first game. The cards do the talking bangles and jaguars. Can I go first? Of course. Thank you. Because I don't feel terribly confident about this one. So I'm going to do a small bet, too, on the Jaguars.
Starting point is 02:03:36 This is an abandonment of a preseason pick. I had the Jaguars missing the playoffs and I had the Bengals win in the north. But I think through three games, the Bengals have felt a little lucky to me. They felt the giveaways in that Bucks game. I've talked about it a lot. It felt more like giveaways than takeaways.
Starting point is 02:03:55 I think Trevor has been dealing with the exception of that second half against Denver. And I told you earlier in the week that what Rogers did against the Bengals is sticking with me. So if Rogers can do that against Cincinnati, I expect Trevor Lawrence to light him up.
Starting point is 02:04:09 but I'm going small because I'm abandoning my bangles pick from before the year. Look, and I understand it. I'm putting three chips on the bangles. Nice reach. I believe in Joe Burrow. I believe not necessarily in this defense, but I do believe that last week was one of those moments where you're playing a divisional opponent,
Starting point is 02:04:31 and things just turned into what they turned into. And it was a shootout. The Pittsburgh Steelers at home got the better of you. But when I look at this Jacksonfield Jaguars team, I love the way that Trevor Lawrence is playing. Their defense is playing really good ball. But they played against the Patriots, who we know are last in scoring. And then the Cleveland Browns, 24th, somewhere around there in scoring. And so, like, they haven't really had any type of contested offense that they've had to go up against.
Starting point is 02:05:06 And I think they meet their match in the day. jungle this week. Bengals get it. All right, we're on the opposite size of this one here. Let's break these chips and cards out of the way. Next game, the cards tell the story. Oh, Bears and Jets.
Starting point is 02:05:22 Look at there. Look at there. Can I go first again? Of course. We know where you're going, but I'm going big. I'm going I'm going seven chips on Ben Johnson and the Chicago Bears. And I'm going to make a prediction right now.
Starting point is 02:05:39 full of prediction. Everyone in Chicago seems to think Case Keenham is starting this game. I think it's going to be Tyson-Bajun. And I think that Ben Johnson wins the game, and on Monday is the favorite in Vegas for Coach of the Year because they will have won three games with three different quarterbacks. Case Keenum was good and it was a great story, but I think a few of those passes could have easily gone the other way in terms of pick sixes in the other direction.
Starting point is 02:06:04 They gave Tyson-Bajun a two-year deal. They said that he's one of the 32 best quarterbacks in the NFL. They named him the number two quarterback ahead of Case Keenham coming out of training camp. I don't think that what Keenom did in that spot takes it from Bejant. So I think Baygent plays in this game. I think he plays well in this game. And I think the Jets will move the ball on the Bears, but the Bears are going to move the ball on the Jets at home on a short week.
Starting point is 02:06:25 I got a lot of faith in the fighting Ben Johnson. I'm glad you believe that the Jets will move the ball on the Bears because I'm got two chips on the Jets. This is the team that I've watched now for three weeks. Obviously, they got their one win against. the Tennessee Titans in week one, and then fell apart against the Green Bay Packers last week against the Detroit Lions, and they were going back and forth. This is a team that I truly believe they're trying to learn how to win.
Starting point is 02:06:55 And this is a moment where you have the Bears on the road with a backup quarterback coming off a very exciting win with Case Keenum, with it being all about Ben Johnson and his offense, And Aaron Glenn is sitting there with an opportunity to shock a lot of people. But not anyone within that locker room. I think they were able to get it done. They lead the league in time of possessions. They've been doing some really good things offensively. And defensively, he has that defense plan really well.
Starting point is 02:07:23 All right. Last game. Chips on the table. Nice conservative bets by you. I like that. A couple small wagers here. Let's see if you get brave. Niners and Broncos.
Starting point is 02:07:36 One of the best games of the weekend. You can go first this time. Oh, I can go first on this one. I assume you're going to finally make a big bat. Of course. This is big for me. I got two chips. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 02:07:47 I got two chips on the Broncos. He plays the penny slots. Look, I know. The 49ers have been playing great ball. They're again at home. I like what the Broncos are starting to do. Every quarterback that they've faced, they've made it rough for them. That doesn't mean that they haven't been giving up a lot of yards.
Starting point is 02:08:06 This defense is not where they were last year. But this offense, I feel like they found some traction in the second half of that Rams game. I think they put it all together on the road against a team that has been playing really good ball. I think they get it done. So I am going to put, I don't know what it says about me and my personality that you and coach are just like much more successful in long NFL careers, but I bet way bigger than you. I'm putting five on the Niners. You know, those talk radio, the local talk radio money. The Niners' offense has been not good, not great, but unbelievably spectacular.
Starting point is 02:08:47 And generally speaking, I will bet on good offense over good defense, especially this time of year. They're at home, weather's not going to be a factor, all of that sort of thing. How many negative plays do the Niners have through three weeks? This is an astonishing number. They've played 12 quarters of football. You want to take a guess or want me to just tell you? I'm going to say, if you're asking this question, seven? Four.
Starting point is 02:09:12 Four. Brock Purdy has been sacked. In three games. Brock Purdy has been sacked zero times. They have four plays that have gone for negative yardage in 12 quarters. They're second in scoring. Their number one in success rate. Everything they're doing is working.
Starting point is 02:09:31 Kyle Shanahan has Brock Pretty playing like an MVP. So I'm not, the Broncos defense is. is good, but I just saw them in a shootout. I saw the Chiefs score. Like, I think the Niners are going to continue going. Four plays for negative yardage. Just unbelievable. All right, thanks for hanging out with us.
Starting point is 02:09:47 Chips on the table. You're going to make some big bets eventually. You're going to leave that to coach? Probably leave that to coach. Unless my Packers wake up and I believe. We'll get the Packers into the segment. They're in trouble this week against the bucks. Oh, we got a Thursday night game.
Starting point is 02:10:01 Aaron Rogers, expectations against Cleveland. We'll discuss coming up on the O-T. Just over two hours to kick off Thursday night football. Steelers taking on the Browns, a couple of two-and-one teams. Rogers, though, he was vintage last week. What version of Aaron Rogers, your old teammate, are you expected tonight, Greg? Look, I know last week he put on the show. And I think what was most impressive for me, him pushing the ball down the field,
Starting point is 02:10:29 five completions over 20-plus yards, 10 explosive plays. if he's able to do that, then everything else is sustainable. And so I expect him to try to do that. Forget about being perfect. Forget about the completion percentage. Go out there and just play freer. And this offense clearly looks a lot better with the scheme and him doing it the way that he did it last week.
Starting point is 02:10:55 So I would expect that version. I don't think he'll be as good as last week. Tough to be. Short week on the road. I don't expect Jail and Warren to be able to run. run as well against the Browns. But the Browns haven't been great pass rush. I think it's like they got six sacks through three games.
Starting point is 02:11:11 As long as Rogers doesn't feel like he's constantly under duress, but he's trying to avoid those. Because he still looks to me like a guy who just doesn't want to get hit. Of course. Given his age, understandable. If he's not, I know he's not afraid of it, but if he's not playing afraid of that, I think he'll be able to move the ball and operate pretty well.
Starting point is 02:11:27 It was an impressive game for you. It was an impressive game for Mike. It's a play caller. You're going to give Mike that credit. I mean, why not? We'll watch. See you later.
