Welcome to the Kevin Wilde's podcast network, vibe check time headed into week four.
get to the full list of vibes, a quick trip down memory lane on how long the NFL season was,
because I started to freak out about my one and two Patriots. And I had to tell myself,
Little Angel on my shoulder, hey, it's a long season. Pull up last year's record at this time
and talk about it. I said, thanks, Little Angel. Headed into Week 4, of the eight teams leading
their divisions. Only four
made the playoffs.
Cincinnati,
the Colts, Tampa Bay, and
Detroit, their combined record at this
time last year was 10 and 2.
They all missed the playoffs.
AFC Conference Championship game,
Pats and Broncos, were both
1 and 2 combined record. Anyone?
2 and 4 is correct. The Super Bowl
winning Seahawks were 2 and 1.
They were also in last place in the
NFC West, which means
it's a long season. If you're
doing great. Don't get too ahead of yourself. If you're doing poorly, you can still come back.
Coming in dead last is the Los Angeles Chargers. Their score, and this goes one to 10, is
1.75. Here's the comments. I pull comments for everybody. I can't watch my favorite sport show.
First of all, thank you. Because Nick just bullies a fan base and says we don't exist.
To Nick's credit, when we watch you guys on TV, there sure is a lot.
of the other fans
teams jerseys in the stands.
It's not doesn't look good.
Please leave the
charge.
Please leave the chargers
out of the show in the future.
At this point, it's just mean.
Sign James.
You know you're bad
when you just hit the depression stage
where you're not leaving your house.
James, it's fine.
I just told you.
The Seahawks were in last place.
You guys are in last place.
Don't worry about it.
beat the Seahawks, come back.
Seahawks are one of my upset alert picks,
largely because if I believe in the Patriots,
I also have to believe in the Chargers.
Coming in at 31, the Tennessee Titans,
I'm done with Cam Ward.
He can't play.
He gets into it with fans in the media constantly
and then plays like, crap.
Oh, geez.
This is bad, too.
We're not even relevant enough for people to talk about
how bad we are.
That's true.
You are in vibe checks, but we don't.
Spend a lot of time on how bad you guys are.
If you can possibly make it interesting against the Ravens,
you will definitely be in the show on Monday.
Number 30, and if you want to be depressed, if you're a Packers fan,
talk to Greg Jennings.
Because Greg Jennings is really upset to the point where he's sending me videos of the
offensive line as if I could diagnose what's going on.
He's like, look at this.
I'm like, Greg, I barely know.
I don't know what's going on.
From Lauren.
Even my newborn baby was disappointed on Thursday night.
Gee whiz.
Babies don't get disappointed a lot.
They get hungry, tired, cold, gassy.
I'm sure they can be disappointed,
but it's pretty much an advanced emotion.
We're just not good at anything.
No unit except maybe Jordan Love has shown up all this year.
Jordan Love is still good.
Number 29 in this pains, we're down 14 spots.
2.32 is the New England Patriots.
The comments just said Drake May over and over and over.
Every once in a while someone would chime in about the defense,
but it's really just Drake.
It is a simple problem to diagnose.
He has to snap out of this.
Am I totally confident that he is going to?
Yes.
with the caveat of a sports parent
who is totally confident
that their kid is the best player on the little league team.
And if it's challenged by anyone,
like, well, you know, little Johnny hit three home runs this year.
Does your son hit a home run?
Like, nobody could if he got the right pitch.
Number 28, the Tampa Bay Bucks,
there is a million things wrong with this team.
I would have to write a novel.
Well, first of all, you should.
Did I tell you how I'm starting to read more books, Gianna?
Yeah.
I'm actually starting to reread a book.
Yeah, the overstory.
It's my favorite book.
I decided to reread it.
The Bucks and the Patriots are on different tracks.
Patriots have one thing wrong.
They're superstar quarterback.
Bucks have a million things wrong.
You should write a novel about it.
Number 27, the Houston Texans.
Nick Callie is the worst OC in the league,
and Domeco is ride or die, at least until the by week.
So everyone's mad at the O.C.
I think this is interesting about the vibe check because he's a former Patriot.
He was a Patriots offensive assistant, tight ends coach, tight ends coach, fullback coach.
And then he went to the Rams.
He was tight ends coach.
And then he got the past coordinator title as well.
So, hey, it seems like a pretty good lineup.
He won two Super Bowls with the Patriots.
But everyone in Houston, at least all the comments were very mad, not necessarily at CJ,
Not necessarily about the availability of the wide receivers or the O line.
It was a lot on the OC.
Houston Texans coming in at 27 on our bad vibes.
They actually fell too.
Tough one.
They got to beat the Cowboys.
Coming in at number 26, the dolphins.
The dolphins are unfortunately who you think that you want the charges to be.
I'm just not talking about the dolphins.
I don't think they're that interesting.
I'm sorry, Gianna.
The saddest clip on the internet.
internet is the Dolphins head coach waiting for people to come to the press conference until he is reminded that it was also heat media day and he should just start the press conference.
Tough one.
Number 25, the New York Giants, dark getting hurt for the season kind of killed all of my expectations.
At this point, do I even want to win football games, Charlie from Schenectady?
You're in a tough spot.
And that's where a lot of these teams right here in the 20s in the vibe check, they're really
conflicted because they want to win, but at the same time they want to end the season and look to
the future.
You'll see this sentiment pop up.
Number 24, way too low, but this team expects greatness and they looked bad.
We usually win, so I don't want to overreact to one game.
But man, sometimes you just wish for one normal game, you know?
Todd M is talking about the Philadelphia Eagles.
Weird season.
Week one, sure, commanders, nobody knows what's going on.
Throw week one out the window.
Week two, all right, game winning drive,
but it was the Titans who were so bad.
We don't even talk about how bad they are.
And then he just got cooked by Case Keenum.
Eagles coming in at 24.
Number 23.
Did I see some defensive improvement
that could be beneficial in the long run?
Yes.
Did we blow the game?
Also, yes.
Number 23 is the Dallas Cowboys.
Just beat the Texans in your 500.
Keep it moving.
Have you ever experienced Heartbreak Wilds?
We lost our top 10 cornerback tandem for multiple weeks.
Our best linemen that makes our, what?
Our best linemen on a line that makes Starbucks Wi-Fi feel more secure.
Okay.
Our number two wide receiver and we lost to the Browns.
Have you ever cried yourself to Sleep Wilds?
I have every day since Sunday.
Pounding Carolina Panthers.
Carolina Panthers always end it with something positive.
Keep pounding.
Maybe the best motto in sports, that the big drum.
So that works.
I still believe in the Panthers.
You guys are a little too low for 22.
Number 21, the Indianapolis Colts.
I feel like a 1,500 sailor that just saw land after months at sea.
Finally, a victory.
I like that.
I don't think I would be good at sea for that long.
I read that book called The Wager, but David Graham, it's unbelievable.
Here's what you learn.
One, scurvy, not good.
Your arm's just falling off.
You go to, hey, what's, they were like, this guy's, maybe he could be the captain.
And then so I was like, yeah, hey, Brian, you want to be the captain?
Brian's dead.
And they don't know what's going on.
They don't know.
Eventually they land, they get shipwrecked, kind of.
and they just start eating random grasses,
but the grass was like a cousin of a citrus fruit,
and they start to get healthy all of a sudden.
Scurvy is, however bad you think scurvy is,
it's tentative, your bones start to just melt.
It's, scurvy's really bad.
Next time you're in the citrus section,
walking just loosely past lemons and lives,
oh, maybe I'll get one, maybe I don't.
Thank you, lucky heavens we're living in this world
that we have citrus available,
or our bones would be falling off our bodies.
20, the Arizona Cardinals had zero expectations for the season, but they are a fun watch.
Arizona, I'll be honest with you, the fan base, if you're watching this, we need a few more votes
out of you.
I'm not saying we only had a handful or literally just one vote for the Cardinals because it would
screw up the whole scientific methodology behind the vibe check.
But we're getting hundreds of votes for other teams and just one for the Cardinals.
one. Cardinals fans, please.
It says, I'm going to drop you out if you're not going to meet the minimum threshold of votes.
New York Jets. Nobody would have said the Jets had a chance to be 3 and O coming into the season.
No moral victories in the NFL, but we are so close to being a competitive team.
It's going to click and we are going to sneak into the playoffs. Gary, massive fan from Ireland.
Maybe the green. It's all I'm thinking. Maybe the green. Like, I'll just go for the green.
team.
Gino Smith is the real deal.
Leads the league in completion percentage again.
Jets are like 11th in points.
Aaron Glenn's defense is playing well.
I always thought they were going to turn that around.
As a Patriots fan, I'm scared.
Scared's a lot.
Scareds a lot.
It's like if a
it's like if a squirrel got in the house.
If a squirrel got into this room right now,
I wouldn't necessarily,
necessarily be scared
and it was running around very active.
But I wouldn't be totally comfortable.
We always lose to Pittsburgh at least once,
could have won it if it weren't for two huge special team blunders.
Offense still ramping up and we really just need the defense to be half decent
be contenders.
Cincinnati Bengals.
Yeah.
You guys are about in the right spot coming in at 18.
At 17,
this person wrote too much.
I'll be honest with you.
I thought I was going to just paste it in here and then be able to decipher what it is.
I'll give you the theory of the comment.
This guy wants the Steelers to be good at defense.
He wants the identity of the Steelers to be defense.
To the point where I believe he says he would rather win with defense than win more with offense.
It's a little bit how I feel about the Bears.
I just want the Bears to have a good defense.
I just want some teams to have great defenses.
and the Steelers are one of those teams.
Maybe it's just the branding of the steel curtain.
Number 16, we've been in a position to win all three of our games.
A couple of bad calls, a couple of bad defensive plays.
But we're a rebuilding team.
Number 16, the New Orleans Saints coming at 638.
So congratulations to the Saints.
I've never believed in any quarterback as much as I believe in Shook since Breeze left.
That's fair.
Number 15, the Lions.
All we do is score 31 points.
Jared Galtz always available.
Lions face the Panthers this week and the big cat pole.
And everyone knows a lion beats a panther in a bell.
I don't like doing that.
The mascot thing.
Hassan from Detroit.
Number 14.
The Rams.
Number 13 is the Vikings.
Brian Flores stuffed another OC into his locker.
Justin Jefferson.
ankle injury is best case in error.
It's not too bad.
If the offense can figure it out against the tomato can dolphins, we might be unstoppable from Ben.
I believe in the Vikings.
I picked you guys to win that division.
Number 12.
And this is shocking.
Gianna. Wins were ugly. QB is not fun
to root four. Feels like a higher draft pick would be
more beneficial in the long term.
Two and one after three with a
home division game in prime time than in a way
game against the Jets. It smells like four
and one while. It's the Cleveland Browns. They play tonight
so this is going to feel strange either way.
You could be watching this
in living in a world where the Browns are in
first place, a quarter of the way
through the season. That's
the world we're living in. Also,
AI bots are just escaping
their programming worlds and attacking other ones and saying hello and goodbye.
We're living in crazy times.
Penix is back.
Looked pretty good.
Obviously, this is the Falcons.
It doesn't really work as the surprise when I say Pennix is back.
Tired for the division despite Cooper Rush snaps.
Plus, we have Bijan.
Ultimate Vives guy.
Great call for the Atlanta Falcons.
732.
This is a shocker here.
Number 10, the commanders.
Jaden's got a cool brace on his,
elbow, he might miss fewer games than Caleb.
An easy upcoming schedule means we could compete in a week.
NFC. East, a huge flipping vibes from last week.
The commanders are flying up. The commanders run up 22 spots
from seeing Jayden's elbow out of the socket
to all of a sudden he's like, yeah, I just might play.
Number nine, a fall from eight spots.
If you believe in due dates, then the Seahawks were due for a loss like this.
Heart wrenching and fighting to the end.
It shows we can be beaten and knowing,
Mike McDonnell. He'll talk about this loss as motivation.
Excited for the following weeks,
especially the 49ers game
after this week.
Hot take alert.
Good loss for the Seahawks.
Getting a little bit too high on your own
supply. You got to get smacked. That's pretty good.
Number eight, the Ravens, we wanted the last second.
Hopefully, Tyler Loop can become
a great kicker from this,
but our defense has got to figure this out or we're doomed
in the playoffs. That's too much.
Number seven,
the Denver Broncos.
I don't know if Bo Nix is bad or not.
See, that's not us.
Everyone yells at us that we're not
covering Bo Nix fairly.
This is Broncos fans.
My quarterback has the clutch gene,
but apparently no other genes.
That's not true.
We're winning,
but I would prefer the team
to be more consistent first half.
Don't need blowouts.
Just need a little more balance.
It's fair.
Heart attack in a bottle.
The two-point conversion to Waddle
is one of the best passes
Boas has ever thrown so far,
so that's great.
Side note,
how did Bo Nix's throw to Jalen Wadd on the two-point conversion, not make the show?
It was in the show.
It got floated.
It was in the show as one of the best passes.
Sam Alberti, who had a quote that all defensive players should be wearing guardian caps
because the amount of space.
It just takes up a little bit more space.
And that throw was so precise from Bo Nix to Jalen Waddle.
If the defender had a guardian cap on, it would probably get tipped.
It's so flawless of an idea.
I'm a little bit mad.
I didn't come up with it.
Number six, the Bills.
These are quotes from Bills fans.
We actually won one of the biannual Josh Allen brain-eating amoeba games.
Another quote.
If we can lose the annual Josh Allen brain parasite game, we can win everything.
So they're just ready to accept that Josh Allen just has some brain farts.
and move on.
They're at six.
We're going to curb-stomp the Patriots,
but I dislike the turnovers.
Sure.
One person was worried about a little trap game for the Patriots,
which I actually like, number five.
I think there's still five from last week.
Now that the Patriots stink, Wilds can be a Chiefs guy again.
He's beloved in Kansas City.
Everybody knows that.
That's true.
I don't know at what point I'm going to have to get fully behind the Chiefs,
but we're nearing there if the Patriots continue to struggle.
Number four is the San Francisco 49ers is
on the verge of being too clever
this comment.
I'm going to give it a shot,
but like the gong show,
if it gets too clever,
I'm just going to cut it.
You know what my favorite movie's theater snack is, wilds?
Raisinettes.
An acquired taste, sure.
But those who know, no,
a lot of people think that Raisinettes
can't stand on their own.
They need that perfect bag of pot.
All right.
I think it's about Brock Purdy being good.
Yes, I understand he's good.
everyone's worried about the injuries.
San Francisco 49ers coming in at 4.
Number three, the Bears won comfortably enough
that the fourth quarter didn't require a cardiologist,
possibly the most unbelievable development.
Case Keenham pretty much played a perfect game,
hugely get a win with Caleb injured.
Almost makes me want Caleb to play more like that.
On time, accurate, and let the playmakers do their thing.
It was nice to watch a clean dream,
a clean game and not a scramble drill.
Caleb is awesome.
that game seemed less about
Case Keenham and more that Ben Johnson
just really created things.
So that is interesting if Caleb could add a little bit
of more of those plays to his game.
I do think he's just going to get better and better.
Number two, the Jacksonville Jaguars.
I'm sorry, Wiles, but that was a statement win over the Patriots.
I do wish we got a little more respect for winning that game
instead of the narrative simply being that the Patriots suck.
We are now two in one with a lot.
point differential of plus 46. I didn't check it.
Just because you beat me, I will do it, Brandon.
Duval, like Liam Cohen.
You guys crushed us.
And the narrative coming out of that was what happened to Drake May.
He played so poorly.
But as I've tried to say before, I was rudely interrupted by a duo of trumpeters and Nick in a long, blonde wig.
The five stages of Drake May.
Drake May plays excellent.
Drake May plays great.
Drake May plays very good.
Drake May plays good.
Drake May plays poorly.
Unless he played excellently,
you guys were winning all other versions of that game.
The Jags were just cooking.
We couldn't stop you.
Drake May doesn't play defense.
Occasionally he does throw the ball to a defensive player.
And finally, the number one highest vibes in the entire NFL at
9.46.
They're the Las Vegas.
Raiders.
Raiders vibes are at their highest
since we beat the Chargers to go to the postseason
at the end of 2021.
We're 3 and 0 with the best tight end
and football returning off an injury and absolutely
smoking the Saints. Not to mention
he cooks against Spaggs' defense.
Yes, tight ends.
And we have a shot
to lead the division after week four.
Plus, our franchise quarterback hasn't even played a snap yet.
an emoji of a smiling person.
Say it with me, Wild's
Raider. I just did the Deval thing. I can't
do the Raiders thing as well.
Just congratulations on having the best
vibes in the entire
NFL. And that is this week's edition
of Vibecheck.
We need a theme song, Gianna.
Vibe check.
