Could we just mention why I'm saying Griffiths? Yeah. Obviously the games happened. There was a montage at the end of BBC. Yeah. where we all got credited. Yeah. But they called me Lloyd Griffiths.

Yeah, because I told them to. No, you did. If you did. They're like, who's the guy that you did the podcast with? Oh, they did not say that. It's Lloyd Griffiths. How dare they? I don't believe you.

It's true. Me, Lloyd Griffiths. We've just got back from the MetLife Stadium where the World Cup final finished Football 1, Argentina, Argentina, nil. Oh, yeah, that's right. Oh, I feel a little bit cheeky.

You didn't see that. Producer Lizzie's face, who is an Argentina fan. She escaped. you think. Yeah, well, what should I say? Skaden. You should say that, yeah. A lot of people, I think, were questioning whether at this age, on the world's biggest stage, it'd be possible to perform at the highest level. But it turns out, Madonna has still got it. Bidumptish. Thank you. There you go. There we go. It's good stuff. We actually worked up that joke, didn't me? It took a lot longer than you'd have thought. Well, we sort of, we got, we knew there was a joke and then, and then eventually we, yeah. And we, we

We actually thought of it. We thought of it before the game as well. Yeah, we did. Well, it depends on what... The framing of it depends on what Messi does. And at the end, he did absolutely nothing. Madonna did a lot more than him. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Even though she was only singing, well, come on to the halftime show, obviously. Only singing in the stadium.

And she barely stepped into the stadium for about 10 seconds. It was like seven seconds. It was like a Dracula. Not allowed to see light. I must get back in. The whole time when she's on the Jeep or whatever it was, just thinking, where is she? Yeah.

is it supposed to be? In the bowels of the stadium? Are they driving around the car park? Why does it look like this? It was... It was really bizarre. But we'll get on to that later. We will.

So we're going to be joined by a few of our colleagues as we do the podcast because... And this is... Oh, I'll let you know why that is. We are sat outside the bar that we have been coming to and where we've recorded the podcast called buddies. Buddies, yeah, buddies. And because everyone except us, mainly me actually, has finished. their work on the World Cup. They're full on.

Well, I've got to do breakfast after this between 1 and 4 a.m. Lloyd. And everyone else is having a drink in there to celebrate finishing. Well, they've just finished. And we're sat outside on the pavement, like sort of like beggars. I feel like, who's the, like, on a Christmas carol when I'm banging on the window, go, please, poor Robinson and come and talk to me. It was so funny, because we're set up outside and a few people just been in and say the low and have gone off.

and Gabby Logan just walked past and I was like Gabby she said oh my god hi how you doing I was like what are you doing it's like she got to work on the pavement on the pavement Gabby yeah we don't all have the luxury of studios no absolutely love Gabby and we're obviously come on and she said no

she's going for a nice dinner it's a wedding anniversary so far yes it is listen going to a World Cup final was it was unbelievable it was so good there's actually quite a lot I think we need to discuss before we even get to the football I don't think we're going to spend

are they were they were before tonight were they not Spain no that's that's silly have you only realised that I just assumed it was always Spain no well also I've seen Argentina play yeah and they're not very good at football

Not very good. So we're going to talk about a lot of the stuff that surrounded it. Yeah. So first of all, getting there, which we knew was going to be a bit of a mission. We just got a cab, and then we're just in gridlock traffic. I think it's the expression here. And so we just got out. A lot of people were getting out and started walking.

And it's a horrible bit actually where everyone's walking the road because there's no pavement at the side. It's just grass verge. And then some cars are coming through. And so they're beeping. and then the people the marshals are like, get off the road. It was chaos. And it kind of made me really appreciate the infrastructure.

The infrastructure in the UK. The infrastructure around the stadia. We talked a lot about the infrastructure of the UK around stadia. Apart from M.K. Donns and Colchester, I think. You mentioned them, actually. You gave them a kicking. I really don't like going to those stadiums. Sorry.

We've been to a number of stadiums now. Obviously, I went to Miami. None of them have been in. easy to get to. Like none of them have been easy to get to. And even in the middle of nowhere. In the middle of nowhere. Even when you get to where what is quite clearly a route towards a stadium, there's still no signage. No signs. We had to ask about four or five people. We had to walk through. It doesn't feel right. We walk through the sort of main building of a racetrack. Yeah, it was ridiculous.

That felt a bit like the foyer of cinema. Yeah, it was really odd. And then walk all the way around the racetrack before eventually getting to the stadium. So we got to the stadium. And then on the way to the stadium, what was quite, uh, fun, we saw Trump's chopper. Yes, we did. Helicopter. Marine one. Marine one, yeah. I try checking on the flight road at 24.

You did. Cause I'm off. I mean, I'm assumed for security reasons. Don't they always sound that call sign off? Not always. Is it not a security thing? No, mate, not always. And then as we're approaching, we knew we're in roughly the right place because

Chris Martin walked. Chris Martin just walked. Chris Martin from Coldplay, who's obviously curating the half-time show. We were like, there? And you went, I know him. Yeah. And I said, go and say hello. Yeah, and I said not, I don't think that all.

But we did have a sort of, you know, the awkward thing where I've definitely met him. We definitely had that thing of, am I saying a lot? No, I'm not saying it like. I met him in 2004. Yeah, you could have mentioned that. But he wouldn't have known because I was a choir boy. Yeah, okay. Well, you gave me some advice on my tuning.

Fine. Which I did not enjoy. Quite huge cues getting into the stadium. We saw a lot of reports, hour to hour, because obviously the president was going to be. there and so they deployed the secret service to do checks around the stadium. Why I love most about the secret service, massive signs on all their uniforms saying secret service. Yeah, and everyone was like, um, I think you've let the cat out of the bag back.

I don't think you're that secret, mate. It was absolutely ridiculous. But I love all that kind of stuff. So I was, I was, I was really good. You wanted to get a photo of them. And I was thinking, I don't know, it's a great idea. Well, I waited until they turned their backs. I'll put that on Twitter tomorrow.

But the stadium itself? The stadium itself is, it's a classic stadium, but about three times a size. Like it's not, it doesn't have any interesting design features like some of the other. It doesn't have, I would say, the sort of wow factor of the one in Los Angeles or like you look at the kind of design. Externally, not at all. Externally, it's quite ugly. They go in and it is just a huge bowl. It's a bowl.

But it is so big. It's so big. Honestly, I, we walked. Full of Argentinians. We walked together. And I became a little bit obsessed with the World Cup in 1994 and a lot of these huge bowl-esque stadiums. And the stadium that used to be there, the giant stadium where Ireland played in 1994 and got a few decent results in it. Ray Houghton.

Ray Houghton, yes. And I just remember that was the kind of like the World Cup that kick started my love of tournament football. So to go to the stadium that obviously has replaced it, but it's still in that bowl shape. I was so excited. You were giddy. You took a little video of me. Yeah. Like I was a kid that had never been to a stadium before.

Yeah, it did feel like that. Oh, it was brilliant. And it was just, I haven't been in a bowl-esque stadium like that. And honestly, I was, I was. You're beside yourself and it was very sweet. You know what? And I cried at Hamnet the other day on the plane. I nearly got teary, you know, just thinking back to the 94,

I'm thinking, oh my God, I'm here, this is amazing. So, oh, yeah, I did choke up a little bit. And then when we were, we found our seats, and the seats were really good. Yeah. I mean, really good. Like, very, very close to the pitch, but not so close that you can't sort of properly see. Like, ideal. Like, it was just, you see whites of whites of eyes. And we're surrounded pretty much by Argentina fans. Although you had a couple of Spaniards. Two Spaniards to my right, yeah. To your right. Who were very quiet. And yeah, they were extremely quiet. Because sea of Argentine. And the two Argentinians to my left were quite, quite, ultra-esque. Yes, they were quite vociferous, guys.

Earlier on, before the game, actually literally as the game was kicking up, the two girls, and they were, like five or six maybe, who were staying directly in front of Lloyd, sort of on the seat. So it wasn't really, probably still see, but one of them had an Argentina flag, a small Argentina flag, and was wavy it like this, but what she was doing, was just whipping Lloyd in the nose. It was like 33 degrees.

Mahanka was already like red, and I was like, and I was like, and then I almost at one point, to close my eyes, go into the flag, so she realized that she'd made contact with me, then turn around and I went, oh, I went, oh, craikies. Oh, I was like, oh, don't worry about it. It was like, it was a lovely moment for me, actually. I really, I thoroughly enjoyed the whole episode. I'm like not as tall as you.

Like, you should have just whipped your chest, yeah. No, I would have been getting in the chest, yeah. Well, we will talk about the football a little bit. Yeah. And we're going to do it with a man from Del Monte, Joe Hart. To be fair, should have said no. This is an immaculate suit. No, the annoying thing is, you look.

Good. Well, final gentleman, no. Yeah. That's an occasion. I've not been to many of them. I dress like a deck chair. And Rick clearly got his luggage stolen at the airport. Did you get this press specially?

How did you get this shipped out and looking so nice? This was just hung for a long time and then gambled today. I thought about iron in the shirt, but I didn't because I wasn't taking this off. You're all right. You're all right. Also, as well, can I say? And the tie was pre-tied from the shop. It was actually?

Yeah, that was just loosened over the head and then shot on that. Hang on. What? Can you not. You're not like that? Come on. I could. Not like that.

Yeah. He said a double wins out. I was like, double wins. I can't do a double wins. I can just do what I did from school. You look absolutely sensational. What I will say is today was unbelievably hot.

Were you not absolutely boy? We were in the shade. Were you? We were in the really good position, actually. Beating sun and nearly had to ask a little Spanish lady if we could borrow her suntan lotion. Honestly, didn't quite come to that. 12 rows in.

It was fantastic seats, but awful for my nose. It was open there. The game was, look, the game wasn't. great. It was by no means the best game of the World Cup. I feel like in the end, most people would think the right result. I think outside of Argentina, I think everyone's celebrating that. I'll be honest, I was pro-Argentina before the game. I thought the way they had their game plan, I thought they could, they're the only team who could disrupt Spain. Because once Spain got over that French hurdle, who I thought were nailed on for the tournament,

I thought the only way you can get to them is by being behaving like they behaved. They probably went a little bit too far. The referee had a massive call to make early on with the McAllister tackle. The moment he didn't book from there. Got that wrong, didn't he? I knew how it was going to play out. We've seen it all time and time again.

We really have. But fair play to Spain. They're brilliant. They are absolutely brilliant. And unruffled as well. Unruffled, kept to their game plan. It's just embedded in them to play that way. They didn't give Lionel Messi a sniff

until the last couple of minutes. It was inevitable in those sorts of moments. But fantastic. The best team won the World Club, and that's a really nice feeling. annoying watching that game going, oh, that's all we have to do. Just keep the ball. Oh, it's not that easy.

It's honestly not that easy. And the way they did it under that pressure, every single one of them, like I say, it's embedded them, ingrained in them, all the subs that came on. It was just so fluid. They were so composed. Not once were they ruffled, not once were they rattled. I think even Eunice seem on the way that he played from a goalkeeping point of view to many people. I think he had one save to make.

Just the way that he linked everyone and kept everyone calm. It was a flawless performance. And there was a couple of moments right at the very end. There was that one that dropped to Simioni. He thought, if that drops to Messi, that's probably a goal. So I don't know if it's a big chance, it's probably half a chance. But apart from that, I mean, they just created nothing, Argentina. No, they couldn't lay a glove on them.

No matter what they tried, you know, obviously they were bending the rules. But they just couldn't play anything. I don't think they had a shot until the 117th minute. Yeah. That's embarrassing, really. Previously, Gabby was saying that no one's not had a shot in the first 70 minutes on target of a World Cup final previously. A World Cup game, it might even been. But that just, you know, credit to Spain.

I think it's one of those days you've got to credit the best team in the world. Did Argentina get it wrong? Could they have done something different? I suppose, arguably, but could they have played them at football? Could they have backed their team to play that way? They've set themselves up to be this team. the way Scoloni's taken over and the way he interviewed before the game

and talked about the process. It was around Leon Messe. And it was around one man and Spain weren't like that. You know, you didn't feel like one man was going to change the game. Their team was going to change the game. So credit to Argentina for doing what they've done,

obviously three, sorry, two Copa Americas and a previous World Cup, but it just proved to one step too far to an excellent team. They do have an absolute superstar, Spain, in Laminia Mall, who again, He was a few little flashes,

but didn't do anything major and they don't need him to. Do you know what I loved about him today? They were after him. They were after him hard. They were physical, they were aggressive, they left it on him. And not only did he not bite,

but he stood up for himself. I thought he stood up for himself as a footballer and as a person. He didn't let any of it rattle him. Every now and again, he puffed his chest out, but he never nibbled. He kept calm. He realized he wasn't going to play

major role in the game. He realized that he wasn't going to be able to take on the whole Argentinian team. So he played as a team player. He knew who's going to have his moment. But I was really impressed with him, not necessarily as being a superstar today, but as being a team because it's really important in that Spanish team. We mentioned it during the game, not just a maturity of the 18-year-old, but also just like the experience that he looks like he's got. If you didn't have the baby-faced features, you would think that he'd been playing for 10, 12 years, because the whole time just wanting it, getting in space and kind of almost helping the other players as well, like dictating where they should go.

Well, he's obviously going to draw comparisons to Messi, and we looked at his stats previous to the game in terms of how much football he's played. It's frightening how much football he's played, by the way. You know, obviously, he needs a really good team around him for his longevity in the game. But I loved it because he definitely does give this young side to him. You know, the way he plays, the way he turns up, the change, the hat, the excitement, the banter with his brother. I love all that. He's able to express himself. He's not afraid to be him. But when he crosses the line, he's so mature. So, so mature. He's, you know, that's a team, like I say,

that doesn't carry anyone, won't carry anyone who thinks they're above the team. And he more than works hard. He more than stands up for himself. And when it comes to his moment, he more than takes it. Yeah, I mean, his little brother for me, as well as the stars of the tournament, I love that little kid. I like the camera, but that kid knows when the camera is on him. Every single time. sees himself tongue out, arms waving. Even before his parents and family know, he's like, I'm on, come on. He doesn't even need to be good at football, does he? Not that's all.

On the goalkeepers, two things. Unisemon didn't have much to do, but everything he did do, did immaculately. And I've maybe asked this after us, but like, I do feel for David Breyer, who's been such an unbelievable goalkeeper, can't get in that side because Louis Delafonte basically is just very loyal. Emmy Martinez though He had a funny game because He made some really good

saves and then some others We were like as he greased his gloves What's going on it? I just wondered what butter he put on his gloves Yeah Before the game Do you know what his goal was under siege And he stood up for his team today

He's not really had a standout performance In this World Cup And he very much does in an Argentine shirt And if they were going to get anything today It would have been down to him I thought even though some of it wasn't ideal That Argentina team's not deal. I think a few of the

few of the saves he literally just went, I'm just going to get my body behind this and wherever it goes, it goes. There was a bounce just, and it's like just get anything to it and it was lucky bounces off. And I'm sure I'll be of queues of this during the World Cup of making excuses but it's not excuses, it's just creating a bit of narrative to what's gone on. Pitch looked

very dry, balls very quick, but anyway, he doesn't need me making excuses for him. He's a world-class goalkeeper who's played at the highest level. Could be in trouble here, lads. I think it's a motorcade behind us. I'm not entirely sure what's going on. But ultimately, Lloyd, as you know, he kept it out of the net for fast for the long periods of the game. And he nearly had Spain questioning themselves, nearly.

But I thought the finish from Ferrand Torres was exceptional. Martinez stood big, dropped to him, rifled it into the roof of the net. That was the only way to beat him today. Lovely little set up by Williams as well. Yeah, the little nod back was, yeah. That's what I mean. He was good when he came on. What do you call me?

I thought. Yeah. A little nod about it. I thought he said, I don't know. That's all right. It's all right. You're okay. Enzo Fernandez got sent off two yellow cards.

The first one for diving, it looked like a dive to me. Not really a problem with that. And then the second challenge is just wild. I was actually willing to see the replay. He convinced me. He was that convincing the way that he played. They are good at that stuff. Afterwards as well, I was like, I saw whoever it was that he nailed.

It's Kubasi, wouldn't it, I think. Cavarsie, cartwheeling, having played. being absolutely walloped. Yeah. And I thought, right, I immediately thought straight red. And then the way that Fernandez was arguing with the referee, I thought, maybe it's worth seeing. And then you see it's like a two-footed block tackle sending him cartwheeler like how he could

even think he was going to get away with the yellow card there. I have no idea. But that's the spirit of that Argentinian. They'll fight tooth and nail any which way possible to stay in the game. I do love a delicious Argentinian red, though, I've got to say. Oh, that's good. Yeah, that is nice, isn't it? Yeah, I just thought of that.

That was really lovely. This is not really about the football, but there was a lovely sort of footballing trope taking place next to us. So we had these two Argentinian, I mean, we were basically surrounded by Argentinians, and the two next to me were quite, they were quite full of. Like father and son ultras. Yeah, like really, they're really going.

That was in the whole stadium, trust me, that was everywhere. Yeah, they were going for it. And they just did this thing at one point where one of them was just screaming, ref, ref, but in the way, you know, you get this in football stadiums at every level where the guy is genuinely thinks, I'm going to shout and I am going to get the ref's attention.

We are not quite close enough for that. He's going, ref! Ref! And then even more fuming that he can't get hold of him. And every single time a Spanish player was tackled. And the referee gave a lot away today. I thought he was like waving

a lot of play on. This guy was like, dive, dive! every single time and then when the yellow card slash red card happened you just even go yeah I can't really justify even that kind out of yeah probably not this spain side have for for everyone I think been the been the best team at the tournament and in the end quite quite comfortably and they've won in in different ways and they obviously everyone loved the way that france attacked but they they dealt with that and you kind of think I don't know what sort of team can be beat Spain when they're playing like this.

Frightening. I think that's fair to say, Rick, with the way that they've played, the composure that they've played, the belief internally, because they weren't red hot favourites, were they always fancied. Obviously, they were exceptional in the Euros, but they have just gone about it business.

People have tried all different which ways of competing with them, and no one's got near the fact that a World Cup final with the previous winners, a Leonel Messi in their team, and how they got pumped today by Spain, and how they got pumped today by Spain. is actually scary with the youth in the side as well.

A lot of these players are only going to get better. Lord knows where we go from here. Yeah, and defensively, so, I mean, one goal conceded across the entire World Cup is just nuts. Yeah, and Uno Simon, obviously, rightly so, when the golden glove for the tournament, but he actually faced 10 shots on target. So, and that's no slight a limit,

you can only say that's in front of you, and it's a good goal at beating for Belgium. but they went about it. You didn't see any kind of cavalier performances at the back. They were just so controlled, so composed, and they just killed people with possession. But you can't shy away from them defensively. I think it would be easy to look at the way that they've dismantled people up front,

but the likes of Roderoy were in prayer of the tournament, that means that people understand how important a player like him is. And that he has sort of come back to that form, because I think people wondered whether you'd ever see, like, Prime Man City, Ballondore, Rodry and we have seen him again at this tournament. He's been perfect. Anyone in the pub who kind of rubs their knee

and says, oh, I'd have been a football if I didn't have a knee injury. I'm sat here, mate. How dare you? But on a serious note, and I was lucky in my career, I never experienced any bad injury. I was never out more than two weeks, but it was nice sat next to someone like Michael Richards

whose career was cut short. And for him to have the understanding, and I could see it in his eyes when he was talking about Roderun, having the understanding for him to come back and to fight through almost two years of whatever it is, and no one's ever going to feel sorry for footballers, and why would they? It's a life that we live and very well paid,

but he's worked so hard. I don't know if you've come across him. He's a lovely man, really articulate, very intelligent man, and it would have frustrated him. I watched him play for Manchester City, frustrated because his brain was telling him how to play football, and his body just wasn't quite moving how he wanted it to do, but for him to get back to his level.

That's only his level, by the way. He's like you say, Ballon Door winner, Manchester City Champions League, European champion, and now to be a world champion, captain of Spain, absolute level. So that, you know, that year that's not been necessarily great for Manchester City shows that that's an anomaly and usually he's at that level. And just quickly, just because I've got to ask you, while we've got you, about David Raya,

because he's been so good for Arsenal this season, the best goalkeeper in the Premier League by, by a distance, I would say, a big part of why they won. How frustrating for him that he just cannot get in that side? Well, I look at David Rea and I listen to him interview and I've spoken to him briefly. I think in the goalkeeping world, I'm not speaking for him, it's only what I think he might be thinking.

There's understanding. Unae Simon came into that Spanish team when David DeHeyer had taken over from Ica Casillas. He was the one. He was brilliant. He was absolutely fantastic at Manchester United. He had that wobbly patch. That was all it was going to take. Wobbly patched,

and Una Simon stepped up for the national team. And he's not put a foot wrong. He's really not put a foot wrong. Now, I know David Rayo has been pulling up trees this year, last year, even at Brentford, Garcia earning his move to Rail Madrid, sorry, to Barcelona. They're two unbelievable goalkeepers.

If it was to put down to a head-to-head of all three of them, their credentials on the table, it's an interesting fight, but Unais-Simon has never let Delhentee down, ever. He's been fantastic, in fact. He's been instrumental in how they play and how they build up. So he deserves the gloves. Now, don't be wrong, I've been there.

If you have a few bad games, even though you deserve the gloves, that's when the vultures start circling. But he doesn't. He's faultless. He's been excellent. And he's brilliant in this World Cup. So I think to answer your question on David Ray, he'll be devastated, but there's no more he can do.

Sometimes you just got to be part of a team and understand it's not your moment. Goalkeepers are always, well, in my experience anyway, quite close and very supportive of one of other. So it must be quiet, don't touch him. Do not, certainly don't touch the suit. Not again. We had that thing with Paul Robinson, didn't we? How'd you like it now, right?

I still, that was really horrible. But hey, given now support, if you are, then to sort of, at the back of your mind, be thinking, well, I hope this guy gives me an opportunity at some point. It's quite a weird thing to hold in your head. But there's no harm in thinking like that, right? I think the position, and I can't talk for everyone, everyone, sorry, but I can only talk from my perspective.

And if I was number two to someone or if I was playing, I would want to treat exactly the same. Now I'm going to train, I want to work hard and David Reyes done everything he can possibly can at Arsenal. And he's put it on the manager's toes. That's nothing to do with the one, absolutely nothing to do with him. I'm sure he's a lovely man. I've played against him before he seems like a cool guy. That's the manager's decision. Like I say, you can, but once the manager makes his decision, you've got to be a supportive team. You've got to treat people exactly how you want to be treated when you're the number one. And I always thought that when I was playing and when I wasn't playing, how would I want to be

treated? Because you need good people around you. It's a lonely position. And ultimately, you're working for your country, especially clubs a little bit different. You're working for your country. You're representing your country. Representing your people back home, the people you went to school with. And if that means that you've just got to be propping up someone to put them in the best possible position, that's what you've got to do. David Ray is a good guy, he's a good teammate. but when we were about to go on air Claire our producer sort of keyed through to me she went the effects through the radio mics are not great we're going to take the TV sound so that means that logistically

I don't understand the logistics of it but logistically it is literally just your mic you can't bring any guests in so I had to talk through so I was like you're Graham Nortoning I was Graham Nortoning That's great.

So I would suggest, if I want to set myself up as Graham Norton, I would suggest that people do not want to go back and listen to that and make those direct comparisons. But to give you an idea of the level that I was operating at, Justin Bieber finished quite abruptly. And I was like, oh, he's finished. And that was my musical knowledge there. I did say, sorry to interrupt, but I did say, Burner Boy, who's a big favorite of Serena Vigman, the England Women's,

Go on. I've said it before, and I will say it again, everyone else comes out with all their dancers and production.

He's all right. He comes out. He's just got a guitar. I respect that. He's got sheer and qualities to him. Well, yeah. I have to say, look, to be able to do that. That was me calling out your hypocrisy,

because I bet you don't like Ed Shearing going to sing to the England players. No, hang on. I probably like it more than the England players look like they did. No, I actually don't mind Sheeran. Yeah. Again, I think that, I think it's a fair comparison.

So on big screens and you thought, this pre-recorded Madonna from a studio. But there was quite a lot of that in the stadium where we had no idea where they were going to appear from or where they were.

When they had young players, the tournament, Golden Glove, any of that, no idea. Where they're coming from? Don't know. Is that person here? The thing that I loved quite a lot was the fact that the Sesame Street character... I'll be honest. It was the Muppet.

Kermit and Piggy. That was the one. The thing is, I say that because well, I know that Miss Piggy was there and actually that doesn't make sense. place. Kermit. The thing is,

we couldn't, we, we basically didn't have a front view, so we're at the back view. So like, spoiler alert, if there's any parents listening,

with children, you might want to just turn this down. It's not naughty. We just saw, yeah, exactly, like, yeah. Yeah. Like, we could see it happening.

Mainly it was just them all shouting for Messi and bowing to Messi and then Messi was crying

and it was quite, like it was quite, it was quite moving. but I sort of felt like traditionally you watch while the winners get there but whatever and then they came up and then the thing that everyone was eager to see was would Trump placed himself in the middle like he did with the Club World Cup and you assume that someone has had a word and said I don't think we do that again Mr President and I think just looking at it I think Infantino has been briefed it is your job heavily briefed to make sure he doesn't hang around for that bit. And so he does all the

handshaking and the given the medals and then as they get the trophy he's still just sort of lurking on the, just walked across and he's just sort of lurking and Infantino's next to him sort of going ah, maybe and then he

just about I think clears in time for the kind of no I don't think he does. I think he basically his edge of shot still. For the trophy raise goes that'll do and then just walks off. Yeah, maybe. And you just think, that is a man who does not care about anything.

from my microphone it was good and Posh and Becks with the whole family with a whole family yeah no not the whole family and a big like phalanx of security

sweeping through it was exciting it was exciting it was exciting Oh my gosh, we're like, we're in the little, we're in the hot spot. We're in the hot spot. I could just see us came out. Also, the other two, so we're Jonathan and Lucy.

And Lucy were on the way into the stadium. They saw Matt Damon. Matt Damon was in the queue behind them. Tom Cruise. Ebrush past them. Florence Pew, Austin Butler. Yeah, just que Elvis. Cueing up, I guess.

Christina Aguilera. Yeah, or producer Lizzie got a reaction there. No one else got a reaction. And then there was just a moment that I think it's nice to share with everyone where we're trying to find, it doesn't really matter what we're trying to find. We're trying to find a thing we can't find in the broadcast compound. And suddenly we just see this healthy, glowing, kind of moving set of teeth, basically. And it's Juergen Klopp. And I've never, yes, that's right.

And I said, Rick, there's Juergen Klopp there. And I've never met Yeroglop. And I like Yerogloff. You love Yerga Klopp a lot. And so me and producer Jonathan, we've got the mic, sort of chased after him a bit. And I just said, quick, quick way up for the BBC, Yergan? And he said no. Well, it's not just that.

And producer Jonathan's got this on tape. So we could play it out. What did you say after? I said, and this is completely true. And I stand by this. I said, well, I'm a Liverpool fan. I love you. So it doesn't matter.

You don't want to talk to me. Absolutely pathetic. I was lovely. I was like, this is a beautiful way to end the World Cup. There wasn't, actually, how it ended. How it ended was getting our nice photos in front of the stadium. And Lloyd is taking one and he looks like a bit of a div, so much so that a lady, a nice Spanish lady, walks past and says,

do you need help? To which I said, yeah, he really does. I was taking photos. I was just waiting for other people to. like clear and she's like do you need help us oh no bless you how were you standing you like you're doing a selfie no no you had to go out hold you do the post do the pose do the no you weren't do the pose you were doing i was just holding my hands out do you need to help pointing at the stadium which i've talked about i'm absolutely bloody love uh and i think just basically

hon recognised hon and she was like look i know a queen when i see one and i think uh well that's it that is the last podcast done oh rick Oh Lloyd. I've had a lovely time. What we're going to do?
