It's what my life is anyway, a selection of recent failings.
Starting point is 00:01:55 Bloody week I've had. We won't get into it, but I'm feeling not so hot. Let's put it that way physically. Mentally, guys, I'm fine. You know it by now. This is a good place to start. I started tracking my mood, like daily in September last year. I'll tell you the exact day right now.
Starting point is 00:02:13 How are you? How are you? God, she's the rudest girl alive. I haven't even asked about you. What have you been up to? How are you doing? Let me know. On the 20th of September last year, do you remember that? If it was your birthday, happy birthday. There's honestly quite a high likelihood that it is your birthday because everybody's birthday is no, like in the 20th of September, it seems. Speaking as a 25th of September baby. Wednesday's child, famously. Anyway, started tracking my mood in September. This is going to be particularly impactful if you're watching the video. We're seeing some sad faces, yeah. I wish I was doing this on a week with better now. So sad faces, sad faces, sad faces, sad faces. And then look what happens. New Year, she's a happy bunny. My goodness, the saddest day I had was here in July.
Starting point is 00:03:02 But we won't get into that. Something could say I'd turn my life around. If you're not looking at the video, then basically just imagine loads of sad faces turning into loads of happy faces. I know. Round of applause for me. I brought that up because, oh, mentally I'm doing well. Physically, I'm on my last legs, it seems. I'm fine.
Starting point is 00:03:24 I have under 10 ferretin in my body, if that means anything to you. Basically, my eye is really, really low. We'll get into it. Everything's literally a-okay. We're fine, apart from sickness and fainting. A smiley face. Apart from that, look, it's everyday smiley faces. And actually, just to go back on that,
Starting point is 00:03:42 haven't missed a single day. Pretty cool. Something else. God. All right, let's just get straight in. But how are you? How's it going? The men I have in my DMs at the moment saying that like sexual assault isn't real.
Starting point is 00:03:55 If you're not on the Instagram, come along on that note. I've got a few like sort of bigger. Okay. Last week's episode I was like, I'm using a crutch. This is a reading list episode. This is about books. The week before that, I was like, this is a crutch. I'm basically answering your questions off of Instagram.
Starting point is 00:04:12 this week I wouldn't go as far as say this is a crutch but I just have other episodes in my notes ready to go that are a little bit more what's the word sort of high stakes for me just a bit more like a touch more heavy lifting which is I just basically want to be able to do things justice and so this is like I'm just going to be chatting in this one and justice will be served shall I begin I feel like also the top that I'm wearing makes me look like I'm a black box. Honestly, my top is saying black lives matter, 2020. I just look like a black square. I look like what your co-worker posted in 2020.
Starting point is 00:04:53 Anyway, so I've been struggling physically, but mentally I'm good. And it's now October. I can't believe it's October. It's really snuck up on me. Look, there's obviously multiple things happening here. Everybody wants to reset. Everybody is like dying, basically. We're all having a terrible time.
Starting point is 00:05:08 And we're like, you know, it would be so much better if I just like, bought a new notebook and sat on Pinterest all night and like it made me feel like I was doing something but like you still haven't booked your smear so I'm not trying to call anybody out only myself really and we're just going to chat about things that we're doing in October that are nice and easy and it's all just nice and relaxed and like there's nothing to worry about okay let's begin book your smear that was my first one and not necessarily the smear can I just say sorry You know I love bagels, but smear, shmere, that is a bad, objectively bad word, right? Because also words I don't like, I don't like the word mayo.
Starting point is 00:05:48 I eat mayonnaise. Do I start this again, guys? Do I? No, no. Don't love that word. Which was important for me to share because, why did I talk about mayonnaise? The smear test. God, it just goes from bad to us.
Starting point is 00:06:06 Can I, I'm going to be frank with you guys. on a day like today, I would have sat down, asked Seffi an amazing question, and let her go for like five minutes, just take the heat off. So if you have anything, if you want to kick us off, that would be really helpful for me. I don't know why I'm just feeling a little bit like, ee, I got nothing. I think I suppose you could say I'm feeling a bit of self-conscious, which is fine. It's the natural urban flow of life, I suppose. It's just not a pleasant ebb and flow, is it? I prefer the ebbs and flows that are like, I'm feeling great.
Starting point is 00:06:35 Anyway, you need to book your smear test, do you? don't know. I don't know your life. But I know I need to book mine and I keep forgetting. Because they sent me one letter and then I put it in the bin because I was like, oh, I'll do that. Obviously, I haven't done that. So I'm going to put my smear test and a lack. Really what made me think this was I had a blood test and some of the things that came back were quite alarming. I'm basically walking around with like zero ferretin in my body. I have no iron, which I kind of always, like, I feel like it was a big thing when we were kids, not kids, but I feel like it's a big thing. thing to be like, I'm just, I've got a low iron or whatever and it wasn't a big deal.
Starting point is 00:07:12 It's quite a big deal. Or like, it's a big enough deal about I'm not feeling too good. So my advice was, basically, if no one around you is being like, would you mind just for two minutes today, just like book that blood test? There might be things that come back that would just make your life easier. Are we not here to make your life easier? I am a friend, not foe. I'm coming with so much love. I'll do my smear test, I swear, and I'll come back to you and I'll tell you how it went. my smear is going to be fine and your smear is going to be fine as well i just know it i'm sure it'll be fine i will say the last time i had a smear the woman who was doing it was so nice that i kind of didn't want to leave i just got quite attached and i thought this is why i'm not running around
Starting point is 00:07:52 having casual sex with people because i don't want to leave sometimes i hate the way i come off on this thing i can't help it she was just a bit nice like she she just said things like take seat and i just thought, I love you lady. God. Tragic. Is that a, is that a bad relationship with your mum's situation, do you think, that like a sort of middle-aged woman is bare minimum nice to me? And I'm like, I love you. Do you love me? Should we hug? Anyway, one thing I will actually say, and this is sort of something that I have penciled in my notes. I have, I have a note, basically, that I could potentially talk about. I sort of go through phases thinking, I should talk about this. It would be a good episode. Something that I have really,
Starting point is 00:08:33 written down is to potentially talk about is just going into a little bit more detail on my relationship with my mum and I feel like it's something that we've spoken about over the years you and I and I. And I know that you and I, in some cases, people have said that they just, it resonates in some way or they have their own experiences, etc., etc. It's not something you see talked about that much. And I'm, I think, happy to talk about it. And in fact, I think, I think, I think it's fascinating. Not like I think my own experience is fascinating. Although, yeah, fuck it.
Starting point is 00:09:09 I mean, it's definitely something. I think I'm happy to talk about it. And I think I can sort of hear people being like, you shouldn't talk about that. But like, why? This is our podcast. So I suppose what I'm saying is, do you want me to talk about that?
Starting point is 00:09:24 Does it relate to your experience in some way? Do you have specific questions? If a few people say, yeah, I'll put a story up. So you need to be on Instagram. basically and I will ask for like specific sort of questions or things that you want me to talk about just in terms of navigating that relationship and what it's like to have a difficult relationship with your mum and maybe like we can speak about your experiences etc this isn't about you if this is not your scenario and you have a great relationship with your mom
Starting point is 00:09:53 mate rub it in why don't you god I'm so jealous it doesn't matter though it's fine anyway book your smear test. If you don't have a mum, I'm your mum now, pod mother. You need to put your spear test. All right. But yeah, I've recently had a blood test. It sort of kind of blew my mind. And all those little things like your iron is really low. Things that basically, I think, because women experience them, and again, we've sort of touched on the like medical treatment of women, particularly on the NHS, but just in general, it's obviously a global issue. We've been like sort of, you know, when you have a bad landing on a plane and you're like skimming the tarmac like that, that's what I've been doing with us over the women in medicine sort of conversation.
Starting point is 00:10:32 But I suppose just with something like low iron where it's like such a quote unquote women's issue and like all of the medical situations that are a lot of the time women specific, they sort of get brushed off and then I don't know, I sort of felt like they were nothing. But then you get the results and you're like, wait, or like you hear about the symptoms and it's like, shit, this is real. I don't know if anyone's sort of, I'm sure you relate. Someone will relate. someone out there than anybody.
Starting point is 00:10:59 I'm sure someone will get what I'm saying when I say, I often sort of hate the word gaslight, but I will convince myself that something I'm experiencing isn't real. I do it all at the time. I have a friend who, every time I think about how she messages me,
Starting point is 00:11:15 it's really weird. I know that happens all the time with people, but there's this one specific girl every time she crosses my mind and then I'm like, she's here in my phone. Yeah, and I also think it's something that is like relatively low effort. Relatively.
Starting point is 00:11:32 The idea of like getting on the phone and like talking to a mean receptionist at your doctors is really, really horrible. But the action of it, like in practice, it's not as bad as it is in theory, I think. And then once you've got it booked, it's so annoying that like little things like that makes you feel really, it's just such a simple exercise in honestly giving the bare minimum of respect about yourself. And I feel like that is sort of the framing of a lot of this episode in general is kind of, I've been thinking recently. My life is at its best when I treat myself like if I was my own toddler.
Starting point is 00:12:08 It suddenly becomes so much easier to be like, oh, but I'm just a human and I need less air and like something delicious and bit of novelty and mental stimulation. And you know what I mean? So on that note, this is a bad one for me. Okay. sort of airing my dirty laundry here, maybe literally. If I told you I had two huge bin bags full to the brim of clothes that I need to sell on Vinted in my bedroom, would you judge me? Would you?
Starting point is 00:12:36 Because the way you respond will inform what I go on to say. It might be the case that I have a ton of shit piled up in my room ready to sell and some of it I haven't even taken photos of. I'm just letting it sit there and stare at me and it's really annoying because it's sort of, you know, when you are like, I'm going to clear everything out and then you get everything out of its place and you get a bit tired. And it's like, wait, I've just made it so much worse. And now I just want to stop. And like, I found all this old stuff from like two years ago that I haven't seen. Maybe I should just like sit and like play with that for a bit. I've kind of done that with my vintage stuff. So learn, heed my words. Learn from me. podmother, if there's stuff that you're not wearing or using, I don't know why you wouldn't want to make like a fiver from it. Does a fiver not sound good right now? And I just, honestly, the wave of, like, relief, I am someone who is, like, so bogged down by stuff, have a bit of an issue
Starting point is 00:13:32 because I'm going to blame it on being a Libra, which I feel like is the most sort of, first of all, obviously, ridiculous and absurd and also Libra thing you could do. I'm a little bit, like, addicted to stuff. I love just like stuff. Stuff that looks good. Stuff that makes me happy. Okay. I admit it. I love stuff. Yes. I love certain stuff, good stuff, fun stuff. Stuff that smells nice. Stuff that looks good, as I say, that's the big one. Unfortunately then, I collect stuff. I'm a big collector. What do I collect? Just stuff. I collect stuff. I collect stuff. And then I sit back and I wonder why my mood tracker is looking so grumpy. It's probably all that. stuff that I've got sitting around waiting to be sold on Vinted, quote-unquote.
Starting point is 00:14:18 Haven't even touched it. It's a disaster. If you like me or a collector of stuff, you probably maybe, I don't want to put words in your mouth, but sometimes you might feel a little bit like, maybe I didn't need all this stuff and actually got too much of it. And the relief that I feel, honestly, even putting it in a bin bag and putting it to one side is like, ah, I feel amazing. Oh, when I've done the hard part, it just feels good to put everything.
Starting point is 00:14:42 to one side. Oh my goodness. Did you see? I've been having this conversation with people recently. I think this is like a couple of years old. It's not news. And it's, to be honest, it's not really news anyway. But Marie Kondo famously, you know her? She sparks joy. Well, how am I to say whether or not she sparks joy. It's just one of she's probably a bit dry. No offense, Marie. But like, your whole thing was tidying up. I don't think we're going to get along. But I love the spirit and I love what you're doing for people. You've revolutionized the game. good for you. But to be honest, I'd probably like you. You're not going to get along with someone like me, unfortunately. However, I have heard through the grapevine of just like a few articles
Starting point is 00:15:22 that Marie Kondo is no longer getting rid of things that don't spark joy. Apparently, she had kids or something and then like her life got really messy. And there was a headline that was just like, yeah, now my house is a mess. I thought, the world you knew is gone forever. Like, wow, what a time. Even Marie Kondo is letting her stuff build up. And I love to hear that. What can I tell you that might make you feel good? Just like about stuff that I've got. Maybe I've, well, basically, I just kind of think,
Starting point is 00:15:52 if you're thinking like I'm like way more of a mess than her, I kind of want to tell you something that will make you feel like, no, trust me. But I think also maybe I've landed the message. Maybe enough. I think you've maybe got the gist. When I said stuff about 35 times, you probably got the gist that, yeah, I'm a bit of a mess sometimes. But boy does it feel good to get rid of something that's been set around for ages.
Starting point is 00:16:17 Obviously, like, yeah, give it to charity, etc. Although we should speak about the charity shops overflowing with like stuff from Amazon, for example. We'll get on. Again, that's the sort of thing for an episode where like, I wouldn't mind doing that justice. Do you know what I mean? Like, I don't just want to sit here and be like, so, basically I wouldn't want to make a great point in an episode full of shit like this.
Starting point is 00:16:38 I'm not being self-deprecating, we're just having a chat, you know? And also, like, isn't this part of festival life? Don't we go through waves of just, you know, like being whatever? And also, it's a part of the pod. It's just like spirals sometimes, don't we? There's actually, yeah, it's a great feeling to know that you finally got rid of something that's been weighing down on yourself for like eight years and you put it on vinted and got £3.50 for it.
Starting point is 00:17:02 Honestly, the things that I have sold, also, I have had a few times or I've sold someone on Vinted and then been like, ah, I really want that back. So, I don't know if I'm helping your case here, but you know you should, okay? That's all I'll say. Anyway, I really am just talking to myself in these episodes. Well, obviously. But I mean, physically and also metaphorically, I mean, like, I'm sat here in my room on my eye, just talking to myself if we wanted to stay the obvious.
Starting point is 00:17:29 But more so just, I'm telling myself to book my smear and sell my stuff on Vinted. It's a little bit like just take a look inside my mind and all my sort of recent failings. But anyway, isn't that what life is? It's what my life is anyway, a selection of recent failings. So the good thing about selling some on Vinted is then you get the money immediately and it goes straight into your Vinted account. And then I don't want to say it, but you know what? Vinted has like a lot of nice stuff. So it might be worth selling your stuff on Vinted so that you can end up with somebody else's stuff.
Starting point is 00:18:03 I'm joking, I'm joking. I think I said this on the podcast, but I hope you don't mind me saying. I was itching my legs so much, scratching my legs, I should say, because they were itchy. Cratching my legs so much that they bled, dot, dot, dot, dot. And I thought that the whole thing was because my legs were getting really dry after the shower. But like, I always moisturize and what the fuck. Like, they're that dry, dot, dot, dot, dot. They didn't look dry.
Starting point is 00:18:32 It was a big mystery. to me. So I replaced our showerhead with a filter one. And I think that was a good thing to do because the water in writing is like not a joke. Like it actually feels like bullets when it comes out of the shower head. You can feel the difference immediately. I just got a random shop. Like I didn't get like one of those like nice, expensive ones. I got like a 10, 15 quid one. Made a huge difference. But then I hear that the itchy leg thing can be the low iron situation. So, a bit of a bummer. But guys, they were actually bleeding.
Starting point is 00:19:11 And like, I still have, this was months ago. And I still have scars on my leg. It's not like crazy. But also, what? I would be so confused. I would literally get out of the shower room. The amount of moisturiser I was going through. You can imagine.
Starting point is 00:19:24 I mean, I don't know why you would, but you could imagine. Yeah, you can imagine. It was a lot. And I was so confused. Just putting into context the hard water situation, went to New York, the water was softer than in Brighton. Now, this is news. Y-O-Y-O-Y-O-Y-O, am I in the middle of New York City, ever heard of it?
Starting point is 00:19:46 Washing my hair, da-da-da-da-da-da, rubber-ducky. The water is soft as a baby's bum, some may say. Come home, stand under the shower bullets. Baffling to me. So that really was the final straw. I did, I will admit, I did have a shower filter already by that point, but I needed to replace it. You see?

Starting point is 00:21:23 Scotia Bank. You're richer than you think. You want a vision. I was an avenger, but I'm not a hero anymore. On October 14th, the vision returns for the final chapter of the groundbreaking trilogy. That family wasn't real. You sure about that? I had a father called Vision. How is this possible?
Starting point is 00:21:46 Don't miss the two-episode premiere of Marvel Television's Vision Quest. Nothing bonds a family together quite like Mortal Jeopardy. Streaming October 14th. Only on Disney Plus. Oh God. Don't look at me like that.
Starting point is 00:22:06 Anyway, I have spoken many times. I have confessed my love for a good shower many times on this podcast, if anything, like, it's my proudest statement. I believe in nothing more. I was actually, I was literally in the shower the other night and I was thinking like, this is, it's, it's, it's, it's, I'm joking, but I've never been more serious about anything. The blessing of a hot shower. Sometimes I feel like I've been on I'm a slub and then I come home and I'm like, oh my God, a hot shower. You know, when like, fucking Colleen Rooney is like, oh my God,
Starting point is 00:22:39 I just needed that hot shower. That's how. I feel half the time because I'm addicted to it. So the shower filter is essential for me now in my life. Just makes such a difference. I hate to encourage you to buy something. But if it's the sort of admin thing where your life is being made harder currently and we could make it a bit easier, I think it's worth spending a tenor. If it's that big of a deal to you, which it was a massive deal to me, my legs were bleeding and my hair was falling out, which both, yes, I'm now after the blood test, which we've been speaking about. I know that there's other reasons for, but the shower isn't helping and I don't want my legs to bleed and I don't want my hair to fall out. So it's a tenor I will be spending. Anyway,
Starting point is 00:23:19 so things in October that I'm doing. And also, like, look, I love a little festivity. I love, like a moment. I love. And also, look, this is scientifically backed. You need some novelty in your life. You don't need me to tell you that. Maybe you do. You scientifically need some novelty. That's why the whole, like, whimsy trend, again, something we could do justice in a proper episode, although I feel like the boat has passed now and I'm waving it off the shore. That's normally what happens is like, have something really interesting to say, but I want to do it justice. And then I just have to wave it away as the conversation just drifts on without us. So I suppose this is a lesson in not making your standards impossibly high so that you don't complete things.
Starting point is 00:23:57 We'll get into that a later date. Yeah, you need novelty. The amount of like, novelty is just so good for your brain. So something I'm doing, along with tracking my mood every day, these are the the festivities that I take part in and that I am taking part in October, but also year round. Tracking my mood every single day because so good to see a smiley face at the end of the day or a sad face. I will actually show you. For example, I'm tracking my mood. I take, so I have a photo, I take a photo every single day that I put in the mood tracker. So it has the smiley face of choice that matches the mood that I'm feeling. So for example, the one I'm going to show you is happy. A photo. And then I put like a tiny little note on something that happens.
Starting point is 00:24:37 that day, whatever. So I'm going to show you on the camera. Is a smiley face. The photo is of my dog. Surprise, surprise. And the note is, happy anniversary, smiley face. It was mine and my boyfriend's anniversary.
Starting point is 00:24:48 Thank you so much for the well wishes. And also found a lump in my boob, L.O.L. The lump is gone. Everything's fine. Sorry. Medical marvel she is on this episode. I don't know why recently. There's just so much to say medically.
Starting point is 00:25:03 Is this like getting to the end of your 20s? but the lump is gone everyone's okay but if you needed the reminder for your smear and your blood test and all of these things that you need to do just saw it out will you basically I just love being able to look back and it's really nice to be able to see overall in the month what your life was looking like
Starting point is 00:25:24 and also pick out any sort of themes or patterns it's quite helpful to be like oh Mondays are a bit of a dodgy day for me why for example and also like around your period etc if you're a period kind of person Another thing that I do is a song of the day, every single day, and I haven't missed a day. I have a song of the day podcast.
Starting point is 00:25:45 Oh, I don't. Jesus, that would be crazy because I have another podcast. That would be so nuts. I have a song of the day playlist on my Spotify. I'll link it. I mean, I can't imagine anyone's listening to it. There's 20 hours of songs on there currently. I haven't missed a day.
Starting point is 00:26:02 Today's song was, well, you can go and find out. Recent hits have been, for example, Wonderful Life by Black, the song that was playing when I was born. Not to be confused with the song that was number one when I was born, which we know was the Macarena, which is amazing. Silver Springs, obviously, some Alicia Keys, what an amazing woman, Justin Tim Blake, my love, Banga, Always on Time, Jarro, Shanti, Iceberg, Seamat. It's a very eclectic, bizarre playlist, but it's very fun to be able to look back and remember where I was on a day or like the conversation that I had or who I was with that left me making that song, my song of the day. Because sometimes it's a conversation with the people that I'm around or a song is playing
Starting point is 00:26:48 and I'm like, by the way, that's going to be my song of the day. And they're like, what's wrong with you? What are you talking about? I love that I haven't missed a day. And I honestly, if you wanted to do a song of the day for October or you've missed the boat now, whatever, but song of the day, November or like whatever. I just marking things with songs. It's my kind of language. I love that. So a little bit of novelty. Just like silly little ways. I find things like that to be a little bit of like proof of life. I'm a bit dissociative or I detach from myself and I detach from my own life. I sort of eject button emergency exit. That's not an emergency exit, is it? That's like a, anyway, I was making a gesture if you're not watching. But forget it. Anyway, they give anyone a podcast these days.
Starting point is 00:27:31 ever heard that? You know people say ban mail podcasts, that it should actually say asterix, bad male podcasts and goes without saying the artist formerly known as Cephian Wing relaunched as the spiral there in Emeraldi. Ban that. A little bit of novelty, spice up your life. I am someone who detaches from my life every now and then. And I think it can be rewarding to like look back and be like, wait, I'm a real person and I've lived real things. And And I have a soundtrack to that now. Oh, sorry. Genius.
Starting point is 00:28:02 Do you know what I've been singing today? What my song of the day would be? It's obviously not a song, but I've been going, dund-da-d-d-d-da-dun-dun-d-dun-dun-dun-dun-dun-dun-d-d-dun-d-d-d-d-cwwwww. And my friend was doing it the other day, too. Catchy. Not a vanger. Another thing I'm doing is I'm going to stick to,
Starting point is 00:28:23 or like I have been sticking to up until this point, using the same like moisturiser. I'm having a shower, okay? I'm having the best time. I'm living it up. It's incredible, okay? And I'm thinking, you know what?
Starting point is 00:28:34 I'm feeling like I've just said I'm a celebrity, get me out of here, and I've gone back to the hotel in Sydney, and I've ended up in a nice hot shower. Wow. What a luxury. I'm scrubber dubbing, rubber ducking all over the shop, having the best time.
Starting point is 00:28:46 I get out. Body oil on. Body moisturiser on. Perfume on. And I can never complain about anything again. Sorry. And I hate to be the stuff podcast. I'm not telling you to buy things anew, but if you have, like, I suppose it's the thing of Joan Didion. Every day is all there is. If you're saving your nice,
Starting point is 00:29:06 whatever, body oil, for who, for why? What? Why? No. You've never been more deserving of it. Just a thought, just a passing thought. Again, speaking about the sort of like detachment of it all, when it starts to get, I mean, I was going to say a bit colder, but guys, it's 20 degrees in October. in England. But when it starts to get a bit colder and the plants start sort of dying down, you get into that, it's, I mean, it might still be boiling, but it'll be raining. I know that much. And it all gets a bit more hermety.
Starting point is 00:29:36 I think if you struggle with your mental health, health, I think if you struggle with your, guys, I'm just in that mood, all right? I'm just in that mood. And if that's your moment to, to, you know, put me on pause and go elsewhere. It was so nice having you here. Love you lots. See you around, kid. But if you're sticking around just for a sec, then if you are someone who like me and you get a little bit bad in the brain sometimes, those like really internal dark, I suppose the seasonal depression of it or if that's something that you get struck with.
Starting point is 00:30:09 It's not funny. I don't know why I laughed at that. I just kind of, I thought struck was quite a striking word choice. For me, I find... Starting point is 00:31:41 I will normally like channel my frustration into, none of this looks right on me. Nothing's like, I look, I'm a monster, blah, blah, blah. I mean, the dysmorphia of it, a bit of it all. Again, if that's something that strikes you down, I'm sorry to hear that. And I really also struggle with that sort of transitional moment where I've built up a sort of uniform in the heat.
Starting point is 00:32:04 For example, if you were here when I was talking about New York and I packed really badly and all I wanted was that black dress. And that black dress was so important to me that it can sound really superficial and, what's the word? Frivolous. But when something like getting ready can be a real make or break for you mentally when you're sort of emotionally fragile for whatever reason, if you're just struggling with your mental health or like whatever, it's just one of those days.
Starting point is 00:32:28 you don't need to justify it to me. I get it. Having something that is going to make your life easier or in those sort of like, those sensitive moments, those pockets of your life that bring up a lot of friction or, like danger zones for you.
Starting point is 00:32:44 Making that a little bit smoother is like a non-negotiable for me personally. So for example, you've had months and months of summer, you've learned that, okay, this one black dress works for me. Then when we start to get into October and I start to realize, shit,
Starting point is 00:32:56 I can't wear this black dress anymore. It's not appropriate any longer. Well, that's going to devastate me, okay? Because I've built up this whole attachment and like safety and security in. I know the black dress works. It's a fail safe. She's got my back. That's my gal.
Starting point is 00:33:11 That's my dog. If I no longer have the black dress, well, what do I have? And I need to build up a bit of a safety net in terms of like a go-to uniform. And this doesn't necessarily have to be about clothes. But I feel like a lot of people will get what I'm saying when like clothes for whatever reason, we could get into it again at a later. to date and do it justice elsewhere. It's a sensitive. It's a tricky one, no.
Starting point is 00:33:32 There were many times actually where like all I was wearing was this. Basically, if you're watching the video and for the audio listeners, I've gone from a black dress to a black top. All I'm going to wear at the moment is this black top. I haven't actually won this in months, but I used to wear it all the time to record because I don't know why. You can just sort of forget about it. Forget about it.
Starting point is 00:33:51 I like being able to put something on and turn my brain off. Like a girl on TikTok on the tube with her boyfriend. She's turned her brain off. So I would sort of, if the clothing aspect of it is not relevant to you, amend it to your own life. You know what, Tara Reader? Take what resonates. Leave what doesn't. So yeah, because I think that change of season can be a bit jarring sometimes when it's like, wait,
Starting point is 00:34:13 all of my safety nets are now gone and I need to think on my feet because I was supposed to leave the house five minutes ago. And all my clothes are in a bin bag for vinted, quote unquote, but I haven't even taken photos of them. Dot, dot, dot. Anyway, getting on that, I think, is. It's just, it's a preventative measure, I would say. I'm not looking to optimise. I think it's just nice to do the low-stakes stuff
Starting point is 00:34:37 and alleviate some of the shit, basically. And like, I don't know, spend a minute or two looking around and being like, how could I make this nicer? And then it's probably a few ways. So if you're hungry for something and not nothing, I hope you were absolutely starving today. Don't know why I'm feeling this way. Okay, now you can actually go.
Starting point is 00:34:55 This is just between you and I, long-term listener. or listener who is for whatever reason extremely invested. Hey, thank God that so far. Joking, joking. I didn't look, it wasn't bad, was it? But like, maybe I'm in a self-deprecating mood and maybe this is going to jar you. If it's jarring you, I don't want to hear about it
Starting point is 00:35:13 because I'm obviously feeling quite sensitive about it today. I think I just feel a little bit like, I suppose self-conscious is the word or just a little bit like, I think I've put a bit of pressure on over the past couple of weeks. I think the novelty of like, woohoo, like we're doing the podcast. like we're going to continue it, love it so much, whatever, blah, blah, blah. The novelty of that has, because it's gone so well, now I feel like I don't want to disappoint you.
Starting point is 00:35:36 And I think at the beginning, I was like, I'm not going to let anybody down. And I don't know what I thought that. Or like, I guess I did, but I didn't care because I was just like, this is what it is and I'm happy to do it and just like purely in it for the love of the game, which I am very much in it for the love of the game, but I also am in it to give you something that you like. So, I don't know. I guess that's just where I'm at, like, this week.
Starting point is 00:35:58 I've also had a bit of a heavy week. I've been throwing up and fainting, so this actually makes a lot of sense that I would be feeling this way. But just between us, I felt a bit weird, but it's fine. And let me know on the Mum episode if you're interested in that because I think that would be a good one.
Starting point is 00:36:16 All right, I will go. If you're still here, I'm honestly, love Bomber, I'm obsessed with you. So I'm going to pack it in and not be so up your ass anymore. But I hope you're well. I'm very grateful to be doing this. And yeah, I hope you have the best October.
Starting point is 00:36:33 I'll be speaking next week, I hope. But I mean, I'll be here. But more so, like, if I don't see you next week, if your life picks up or whatever, you've got other things to do, better things to do than listen to me, then I hope I see you soon. I hope you have the best month. And I hope autumn is very nice for you.
