Starting point is 00:00:00 It's a well-coached team. It's great leadership. And just as an aside, this is stupid, but it's something that I noticed as a former player. Sequin Barclay, I said this to the guy's sec, whenever they show him on the sideline, whenever I see him in pregame, whenever I see him in, you know, like team shared video, he's hanging out with everybody on the team. That guy's talking to the 50 third guy on the roster. He's sitting on the bench next to guys that, you know, don't have the notoriety he has. And some people are going to say, oh, well, you're glazing them just for doing the bare minimum. I'm just telling you the best guys that good sometimes, they go off into their corner.
Starting point is 00:00:36 That guy is like, you can just tell he's a consummate teammate. And it helps so much when the best players on your team are good people. And that's why they can weather this storm. BetMGM has made betting easy and seamless all season long. Welcome with the Greenlight podcast. A quick roundup at the NFL's week 15 games in the 1 and 4 p.m. window. the Bills and the Lions with a hell of a game in Detroit.
Starting point is 00:02:29 It was everything we wanted and more. We had an early fourth quarter onside kick. We had won at the end of the game that almost damn near give us a shot at a Hail Mary. But Josh Allen, as he does, played his tail off. The Bills followed that thoroughbred to the winner circle. A great bounce back game for Buffalo. And the Eagles with a big win over the Steelers. The Broncos got another win to move them close to the playoffs.
Starting point is 00:02:51 The Ravens rolled. The Texans got a big win over the Dolphins. A great game across the NFL in the 1 and 4 p.m. Slate. Chris recaps it. Talks about his favorite plays, favorite players, biggest one bets, and a whole lot more. Enjoy this rip. And then we will be back on Monday with our week 15 NFL full slate reactions. Enjoy it. What's happening? What's happening? Come on in. Take a seat. Take a seat. Hey, listen, you know, hey, don't be like, oh, why are you, why are you wearing a white socks jersey?
Starting point is 00:03:53 see this is like some sort of a statement maybe to some people no it's just my lucky jersey i was chasing today have my i had to put on my yermin mercedes um what's he doing now how did that happen he had such a he had a little like uh run there anyways people people don't care i'm not going to talk about it much longer um holy shit where do we start i get the eagles out of the way because i know this a lot of people want me to talk about the eagles and i will that's a game you expect to win. That's what I'm talking about right there. There it is from the quarterback.
Starting point is 00:04:32 Just because we don't doesn't mean we can't. That is like hurts 2028. Seriously. Yeah. I mean, if you play like that, you know, the thing I talked about them having the best roster in the league, you can beat anybody. You just have to play like that.
Starting point is 00:04:58 Hey, early in this game, some people might say, hey, slower start for the Eagles. Because in the beginning of these games, including the Ravens game, it just feels like you're kind of like feeling your way. You know, like you're in a dark room somewhere and you're trying to figure out like what's what, where's the light switch. You had that moment from Jalen Hertz up 3-0 where he takes a terrible angle and T.J. Watt inevitably, you know, hunts him down and takes the ball off him. if you go down 7-3 at that point, I think things might play out a little different, as in to be hard to work for you, and maybe you don't have that momentum the same way,
Starting point is 00:05:34 but I thought that Washington penalty was huge. Shout out to Slay for sacrificing himself into the bleachers and the stands all season long. I think the penny penalty on the sideline was probably a big one too in that game. Couldn't have been a small one. That was a big game. Listen.
Starting point is 00:05:53 this game felt to me like after naji harris dropped that pitch it was like if it were an mma fight the Steelers were in in what do you call it like full guard or something you you fucking uh mama junkies are probably gross to me i can't stay up late enough to watch the fights anymore but like it felt like a ground and pound kind of situation where the eagles were just on top and they weren't letting Pittsburgh out. I mean, look, three possessions the second half, 10 points, 47 plays, 24 plus minutes. That's bananas. That's control.
Starting point is 00:06:39 That's like, that's like suffocating right there. And so, you know, I got that picture of Mackay Beckton on the sideline fighting to come back in the game. telling stout, I can go, I can go. They don't need him. They're running the clock out. But those guys up front wanted to finish that game. And you could tell it meant something to them. You could tell this week meant something to them.
Starting point is 00:07:06 You know, you can do one or two things when something like that happens. And by that, I mean the AJ Brown sound bite and then the BG overshare. You can point fingers. You can get worse. But, you know, one of the reasons I was confident they'd come out here and get a win was because of the quality of the guys in the locker room. I heard some people in the media say, you know, when you got too many all pros, you got too many egos and, you know, things along that line. I'm like, I'm doing the math in my head. I'm like, all the Eagles best players are very good people. I'm not saying egos are a bad thing.
Starting point is 00:07:37 You need an ego to be like a Hall of Fame player on some level. Like, you know, the belief in yourself has to be so high to be a great player in the league. But, and those guys have that, the belief in themselves but they're not like egotistical guys you go up and down the roster the best guys on that team um and so what it was it seemed like it was something that needed to be worked out or addressed between two guys or maybe it just needed to be addressed that you know that's a misconstruing of like what's going on in the locker room and i think they did a great job of that and i want to credit nick seriani you know this week for kind of circling the wagons having hard conversations and saying fuck guys we we got to go out and beat up the Pittsburgh Steelers
Starting point is 00:08:21 this weekend. And to do that, it's got to be everybody. And we can't have fractures. And we can't have any of this stuff linger. It can be hard to move on from things like that when you don't have leadership in a locker room. And I'm pretty impressed with the leadership in the Philly locker room to move on seamlessly and to win ugly against like king ugly. And I don't mean Tomlin's ugly. I mean, it's good looking dude. But I mean, his teams win ugly. He's the king of winning ugly. And Nick Siriani has to be pretty proud of not only. only the run he's taking this team on some of the things that he's been able to stabilize him and his staff um and winning ugly against that team just great and a j brown you know who left the game on
Starting point is 00:09:04 you know hip drop tackle and hopefully you know he's okay i don't think it was intentional but it was definitely a hip drop tackle i think some of them are very intentional uh you know something like that you could see in the replay the guys i mean you're trying to chase this this you know elite athlete down in the open field and his weight takes from left and a j fall you know it's tough but that's a hip drop tackle and joe mixing got hit with another one today and so you know like the NFL for all the talking about fixing that thing they really haven't done it outside of finding dudes which you know ultimately is only going to go so far so uh i just again the quarterback playing the way he played the defense it's almost a given but to get out of a situation early in the game
Starting point is 00:09:51 where you i believe in in sort of a quick succession you you you you fumble a ball you jalen hurts you fumble the ball and people are saying here you go again and cooper de jean who's done everything right drops a punt and you're able to to weather the storm and stabilize that's a well-coached team it's great leadership and just as an aside this is stupid but it's something that i know this as a former player saquan barclay i said this to the guy's sec whenever they show him on the sideline. Whenever I see him in pregame, whenever I see him in, you know, like team shared video, he's hanging out with everybody on the team. That guy's talking to the 53rd guy on the roster. He's sitting on the bench next to the guys that, you know, don't have the notoriety he has.
Starting point is 00:10:36 And some people are going to say, oh, well, you're glazing him just for doing the bare minimum. I'm just telling you the best guys that good sometimes, they go off into their corner. That guy is like, you can just tell he's a consummate teammate. And it helps so much when the best players on your team are good people and that's why they can weather this storm you know the lane johnson's the world the jay browns who by by all accounts tremendous teammate you know it's a moment he probably wants once back whether it was misconstrued or not but a very good job just just steady steady the ship and let's run it up on shore and kick these guys his ass and i thought i thought that was what it was it was an ugly suffocating win and when eagle when the eagles finish games like that with the ball for
Starting point is 00:11:19 nine, 10 minutes. You know, it's a thing of beauty to me. Now, the other game was much different that the NFL inexplicably, they couldn't split these two games up. You know, we have the feeling I had sitting here leading up to the 425s was like, oh, my God, this storm's coming, man. Like, and we're all going to be glute. And they started them all right at 425.
Starting point is 00:11:45 God bless the Cardinals and the Patriots, which was probably the, you know, the freest money on the board all day people i didn't even realize they were playing god's honest truth and it's my job to cover the NFL um i was like damn they snuck these guys into the 425s i mean indy and denver uh barely got a look you know like reeds over here going nuts reed who took uh cowboy you took uh bone nix you we were playing a game the other day we said if you could bring back an NFL legend handpicked onto your favorite NFL tuesday team. Of course, I as Reed, producer extraordinaire here, a cowboy, you know, who would you bring back? And we all go Elway. And he's like, we got Bo Nix.
Starting point is 00:12:29 Why don't we need Elway? We got Bo Nix. I think that game might have been 50, 13, or whatever. But we'll get to that in a minute. The bill's just a huge statement win. For their offense, not to slow down, doesn't shock me. You know, even though I know that's the most valuable player in league Josh Allen every Sunday it's like it's a box of chocolates dude you never know what you're going to get in a good way now you used to be like you never know what you're going to get short of burning the ball in the end zone and to see a bodies on like a circus play up to touchdowns he really made great decisions and they did not slow down and I thought the key to the game for me was Sean McDermott getting these guys together this week obviously and having a very
Starting point is 00:13:19 game plan early where they force the three and out and then you know another two possession two later we talked about this before the game bringing early down pressure getting these guys behind the sticks that's what they did they were able to steal a couple possessions early and to me that was the game plan let's jump these guys if we jump these guys they won't be able to catch the bus and the entire game consisted of them trying, scratching and clawing, and I want to give Detroit a lot of credit because they are down a lot of guys.
Starting point is 00:13:55 Reed's messing with my desk. Look at this. I bought one of these damn desks that you can stand up. Look, Cowboy, lower that shit down. Golly. I feel like Spud Webb. Lower this shit down, player. I'm going to have to do the rest of the goddamn.
Starting point is 00:14:12 I'm going to have to do the rest. No, no, I'll do this shit like Pat McAfee. Hold on. All right. give me the microphone. I'm up here, all right. All right. Hey, I feel like, I feel like Josh Allen now. All right, but, but, you know, I don't even know where I was. I'm talking about this game. It just felt like Detroit couldn't, couldn't hang in there. And I, you could see this matchup again, but I don't necessarily think, I don't necessarily think Detroit feels terrible about it.
Starting point is 00:14:42 but I was impressed with the way the defense competed for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for for, for, for, for, if, if these two teams played again, it'd be a damn good game, um, you know, Detroit would get some guys back if they get Hutchinson back and that sort of thing, but today here's the thing. You have to play so well as a team to be Josh Allen and this offense when they're clicking because that's the best damn quarterback on the planet right now. Okay. I know a lot of people got a little bit of, bit upset with me last week when I said he's the best quarterback on the planet right now. It just is what it is. And you know, a guy like Lamar Jackson who's got a damn near perfect
Starting point is 00:15:21 passer rating in New York is sitting there like, what do I have to do to catch this big son bitch? You know, when he hit that ball to Coleman in the first half, I wrote in my notes, what else do I need to say? You know, and they play with their food a little bit and left these guys in it, you know, at the end of the first half. You know, they had a chance to go up basically 21. out of the half, play with their food a little bit. The shot to comb in, the stuff out of the backfield of the running backs, you could tell they came in in this game and said, you know, let me make sure I'm framed up here.
Starting point is 00:15:56 The people on TikTok are looking at the weirdest fucking, the weirdest angle here. It's like your boy's just out of sorts. It's a side angle. Yeah, it's crazy. German. But the whole thing is to me, you know, they came into the game and they said, hey, we're going to run the football and we're going to attack with the backs out of the
Starting point is 00:16:20 backfield. They like those matchups a lot. And once ended up a game where Carlton Davis is down and his backup goes down. And then it's what, Vilder were in the game. You know, they just were not going to be able to slow these guys down. here's what I'm impressed with the fact that they ran the damn ball okay i'm gonna finish talking about the bill's defense in a second but you know you come into this game i got pictures of david montgomery you know running people over in my head i got pictures of you know um gives on the edge i saw a lot more
Starting point is 00:16:57 cook 197 rushing yards for the bills 47 rushing yards for the damn lions 48 rushing yards. It felt like 47. All right. So let me do it in three minutes until kickoff here. I'm on the Seahawks. But I just, it's almost like the bills were like, hey, to beat these motherfuckers,
Starting point is 00:17:26 we got to become these motherfuckers. And it felt like to me, it's fitting the game ended on a damn loose ball. And Taryn Johnson comes out. after 90 seconds under there, as you put it, unspeakable things happening at the bottom of that pile, the willpower to stay with that thing, there was another loose ball in the game
Starting point is 00:17:48 where Detroit lost the football. And I think J-Mo is getting out-efforded for the ball. Somebody's getting out-efforted for the ball. It felt like the bills were that team that was diving on the floor for loose balls. It felt like the team in white, was the team saying, we're going to drag them to deep water.
Starting point is 00:18:11 I mean, it felt like they dragged them to the deep water. It did. And I got so much respect for what Dan Campbell's built, and they'll be right back next week. But this was a speed bump that was eventually going to happen. They have been too good for too long this year. And through too many injuries, they were going to run into a situation
Starting point is 00:18:31 where somebody was better that day. And today, the bill's built a lead. right now the bills with a lead seems like a dangerous thing now because of how banged up they are on the back end you can always get back in the game but i just want to say this and one more thing about josh allen the fucking hit he took to pascal he's in the air basically in the fetal position and pascal who's a large man with a running start terry tates him they zoom you're You know, because the throw is so far out of the damn picture and the ball zips so fast to the goal line where it's incomplete, it's on a fucking rope, they don't show Josh Allen getting up or not getting up. Now, I've seen him get up so many times.
Starting point is 00:19:24 I'm shocked he got up. He popped right up. You can't, it's demoralizing to play this guy. It's demoralizing to play this guy. So defense, first off, nobody gets little guys to play bigger than Sean McDermott does with these dudes. I thought they triggered in the run game early. You know, a lot of the thing we discount when talking about, you know, a defense stopping the run is the little guys triggering, second level guys, beating receivers to the spot. Detroit, a lot of motion, a lot of insert motion, a lot of little things on the backside of plays. A lot of situations where if you're doing your homework, you can shoot the gap.
Starting point is 00:20:09 And I thought the bill's secondary played fast as fuck. I mean, who was it that leveled? It was Terran Johnson leveled Alman Rae St. Brown. That's their flag bearer, totally legal hit. Hey, when their best guy takes a second to get up, you're playing physical. I mean, and I haven't seen Alman Rae St. Brown get up slow, like almost ever. He's a fucking, he's a muscle-bound cat. He's an SOB, a son of a bodybuilder.
Starting point is 00:20:42 And we, hey, and these guys are laying folks out. People are freaking out about the Dan Skipper fucking catch in the red zone. He's going down to the score. People are like, oh, my God. Josh Allen in the x-ray room after the wind. He told reporters it was for peace of mind. Well, fuck, I hope so. Whenever I need peace of mind, I just go in the x-ray room.
Starting point is 00:21:03 I hope it's not the damn hit where he landed on his shoulder late in the game rolling right. I hope it's something else. But you can barely tell the guys dinged at all. All right, this is my favorite play of the game. Maybe. There's so many great plays. Jared Goff, by the way, played his ass off. Let me say that while I still remember it.
Starting point is 00:21:23 Play his ass off. Okay. Skipper catch to the ball. Woo, trick play. Great. Cool. He's going to score. Big son bitch got
Starting point is 00:21:33 a hotel ballroom to himself. What was it? Little? Cam Little. Cam Lewis. He's little. That's what's fucking. Cam Lewis, who I've complimented on the show before. I'm just bad with names sometimes. Cam Lewis, who I've seen him suplex more big people, bigger people, than almost anybody in that secondary. He doesn't have to go give Dan Skipper a kiss. he doesn't have to, but he hustles his ass off to just give him a little, make him pay that tax.
Starting point is 00:22:16 No hesitation. Fast forward at the pylon. That's who these guys are when they're at their best in the secondary in Buffalo. And it starts with, and Bobby Babbage has done a great job. Sean McDermott's personality. Now, he didn't have a lot of great moments last week, and defense didn't either. But they got enough stops today. Oliver, nine pressures.
Starting point is 00:22:39 One of my favorite players. Doesn't always get the sack. He caused a lot of problems for other people. Caused a lot of problems for other people. And creates a lot of opportunities for others. So, I mean, did anybody see him speed bump? Maybe one of the best centers in the game, if not the best center in the game?
Starting point is 00:23:00 Frank Ragnow lined up right over him. Speed bumped him. Zach, they played their ass off. Benford forcing the fumble. Just lines ran out of gas, but the bills are that good. Bills are that good. Unbelievable. What's up, Greenlight fans?
Starting point is 00:23:20 It's your boy, Dr. Fax, and I want to talk to you about Airbnb. Me and the Greenlight crew a few years ago, we stayed at Airbnb for the Super Bowl in Arizona, and it was absolutely immaculate. It had a huge cactus in the backyard, had a pool, had enough room for everybody, way better than a hotel. And then recently just purchased a house with my girl,
Starting point is 00:23:42 and we found out that we can be host. And your house might be worth more than you think. And you can find out at Airbnb.com slash host. Just a little quick round up here. Game starting. Commanders surviving. That was a lot of fun. I had a massive teaser with the commanders and the Bengals.
Starting point is 00:24:05 Of course, that basically means both of them had to win. ends up being like a parlay um so it it was like it was like the bengals came out and joe burrow who they they did a b and e this week at his house he's like out of sorts they aired out his personal life somebody probably fucking touched his batmobile he's flustered you know interception fumble they scored like 27 points in a damn 10. 10 minute span, it felt like those receivers and him, they are playing some of the best ball I've seen out of a trio. I mean, I brought up the trio of Matt Stafford and Puka and Cooper last week, but they're doing that all the time. And it's for nothing. It's a shame. And, you know,
Starting point is 00:24:57 somebody dropped the ball in that game. That defense, even when they're playing well, they don't play well. Big shout out to Sam Hubbard, though, catching a touchdown pass. Needed that one. Such a wasteful call, but it sure did pay off. Big man, still got it. Um, but the secondary in that game, they had a couple pick sixes, it felt like, you know, it just felt like a lot of pick sixes. One of them, the guy battle drops the ball at the one yard line, drops the ball. I said, I don't think we'll see that again today. Nope, we saw it later. Two plays that the Colts offense made killed their fucking playoff chances. Two plays that the offense made. Two plays that the offense made.
Starting point is 00:25:36 Okay? You drop the ball at the one-yard line into the end zone. Jonathan Taylor of all people. You know, he's probably sick. And then not to be outdone, they're doing a throwback.
Starting point is 00:25:50 And buddy catches the ball and spins the laces. He spins the laces. Like, let me get the laces right to throw this ball back to Richardson and Benito, who has played his ass. So I've made the comment earlier. He's never going to be in a defensive player of your conversation.
Starting point is 00:26:04 And I don't mean to be just, disrespectful it's just such a superstar award but he's played like an absolute superstar look at his numbers up against some of the best the pressures the sacks two pick sixes in two weeks just a fucking stud uh broncos are basically in colts are basically out and then another team that's basically out and i don't want to hear about this offense anymore until they do something different for for a change the dolphins the dolphins and you know what houston played better i look forward to looking at their protection to see if it was much better with the shuffling they did up front but i thought c j shrub played really well late and downs today you know kind of getting them out of trouble in different points and you know
Starting point is 00:26:43 they made up for the matchy drop with a great fake punt but the dolphins had a chance with 420 to go coincidentally it was 420 because it looked like they all smoked a raw cone each before they went out on the field it was like if you look at the the play by play of that possession it was like seven circle of hell stuff and you know four turnovers i said this before the game houston's defense is really fast that that offense that offense is like a speed bully you know when you got speed on the field especially if you're a winning team for some reason and you know you're playing at home the way they fly around and too was not his best today he was not i mean to say the least there was some really bad throws. But in general, it just felt like that defense was, was, they beat him the punch
Starting point is 00:27:33 left and right. Will Anderson, big, big strip sack, stingly, big interception. You know, that, that group flies around. And they didn't even have Aziz Al Shire on the field, who is, as you know, a missile. I mean, the speed that he adds that for them to make Miami look like that with him down, that's not a good sign for Miami. But we already knew that when they play teams like this, they don't show up. But a big shout out to Zach Seeler, who's one of my favorite players in the league. I didn't even know this sneaking up on me.
Starting point is 00:28:02 17, 18 sacks over the last, you know, calendar year and a half now, two years. Just a really good inside rusher. And Kansas City, who's got three games in 11 days, now they got Mahomes with a high ankle. We'll see how severe that is. I wouldn't push it. I really wouldn't push it.
Starting point is 00:28:23 Now, I know you got to save off Buffalo, but you got a two-game lead. You don't have the tie break, but you got a two-game lead. Carson Wentz has played some ball in this league. Reed said it earlier. He was like, maybe it's a reverse 2017 where Carson-Wince comes in, wins some games for these guys. I don't know how serious it is. Mahomes said he was trying to come back in the game or if it was closer,
Starting point is 00:28:43 he would have come back in the game, but you've got to be careful. Big shout out to Jerry Judy, a thousand-yard season. Guy like that, that makes me happy. You know, same thing with Beckton. They shouted him out today, finding a home, you know, kind of a castaway high draft pick. You know, it's not always the player, sometimes surroundings. Same thing with Judy. Good for him.
Starting point is 00:29:04 And he took some shit at different points, pulling for that guy in a losing effort, big day, thousand yards season. And then Devante Adams, thousand yards in the second half alone. A fucking time machine game for Devante Adams down in Jacksonville. That was a proper football game. You know, two teams that got nothing on the line, nothing on line. Half the people on the field or on the sideline won't have jobs next year with those teams. But they're playing their asses off for 60 minutes. Mac Jones is throwing the ball for like 300 yards.
Starting point is 00:29:38 Devante Adams is on Nugentics. Yeah, 198. Crazy. Just a crazy day at the office. And I saw Roger scrambling around. Everybody's playing hard. That's what the NFL is about. I played a lot of games like that where, you know, nobody gave a fuck.
Starting point is 00:29:56 Nobody was watching, but everybody playing hard. That was a proper NFL football game. And then lastly, I'm sorry. Well, not lastly, the Bucks, man. I told you about the Bucks. Just a shalacking against one of the better defenses in the league. They're still trying to figure out how to cover Mike Evans. And then, you know, the commanders, I'll bring it back full circle.
Starting point is 00:30:16 The most hold on to your ass moment of my Sunday. A teaser with the commanders and the damn. Bengals, which was a thrill ride. Should just bet the other teams. But the commanders end up within an inch of their lives. They were up 17-0-0 in the second half. And Jane Daniels, they're down Noah Brown. And I think Ertz left the game at some point.
Starting point is 00:30:40 But, you know, he's not, he doesn't have a full deck. He's back there playing his ass off, just making magic happen. That ball in the end zone to McLaurin, where he's shaking off. was brazi and saunders absolute highlight play fourth and one with the game of the line basically you know at that point diving over backwards to get the first down when they've got the read option dead to rights i thought that was just uh you know very heroic uh sunday for jane daniels and a team that might not be going anywhere i don't want to be disrespectful they're kind of one of those teams on the bubble who you're like hey are they
Starting point is 00:31:22 Can they really win a Super Bowl? I don't think so. But they play their ass off on defense. And Jaden Daniels is the future for them. So just a gutsy win. Listen, I'm going to go watch this Sunday night game. I'm tired of standing up. But yeah, how about them bills, man?
Starting point is 00:31:44 Damn, dude. The bills, bro. All right, I'll see y'all.
