Starting point is 00:00:00 My brother loves you. I just told you offline there. All he talked about was Creed and the salt mines. He said, can you explain the salt mines to me? Salt mines, I just think of it as that's the nitty-gritty work that you're doing. So, you know, it's going to be a tough game. Clocking in for the salt mines and getting after it. Snowgillow play we ran against the Raiders a few years ago. We're all, you know, circling around the huddle and everything and breakout.
Starting point is 00:00:23 Yeah, it was awesome. I got us called back for the touchdown for a holding penalty. But I wish I could get that one back. That's why I'm like, let's run that one again. Everybody's coming in with these awesome pregame fits. And I'm like, well, I have no clue out of style myself. So I'll just wear a shirt that says this is my shirt for this game. Starting point is 00:01:12 Welcome to the Greenlight podcast. Hey, thanks for jumping in today. We are diving into the salt mines with Creed Humphrey. The Kansas City Chief joins Chris to talk about Chief's Kingdom, Patrick Mahomes' snap count, and film watching techniques. Andy Reid's favorite play calls, the Chiefs Defense, led by Steve Spagnulo, and how that offensive line operates. They've got a lot of keycogs, some great players.
Starting point is 00:01:41 Creed gets into it all. He also talks about his t-shirts, those infamous t-shirts he were with a little bit of duct tape. A great episode, enjoy it. We've got some great heat coming for you the rest of the week. We'll see that. Welcome in now to the show. The highest paid center in the NFL, one of the best centers in the NFL easily.
Starting point is 00:02:29 a big part of a great offensive line. And Creed Humphrey of the Kansas City Chiefs is joining us. How's it going, Creed? Doing good. Doing good. Thanks for having me on. Of course, man. My brother loves you.
Starting point is 00:02:40 I just told you off line there. All he talked about was Creed and the salt mines. He said, so can you explain to me with training camp coming up at that college you got to go to, those dorms y'all staying? Is that like the salt mines for you? When do you feel like you're in? the salt mines and can you explain the salt mines to me yeah uh salt mines well i just think of it as you know that's the nitty gritty work that you're doing so you know it's going to be a tough game things like
Starting point is 00:03:10 that tough day in training camp out and saint joseph all that stuff you know it's just when you got to go in and get that work done even if you don't feel like doing it just clocking in for the salt mines and getting after it does like being a rookie and blocking chris jones is that probably like peak salt mines yeah no salt mine every day for that tech camp yeah yeah Yeah. Not a fun guy to block. Is a salt mine tougher than a coal mine? Oh, man. Probably not. The coal mines are probably worse. I just want to make sure. I don't know. I haven't been in either one.
Starting point is 00:03:43 Well, dude, it's great having you on the show. Obviously, you've had a lot of personal success and team success. The thing I'm wondering about having played in New England with some of those guys where the off seasons are year after year, very short, right? like y'all have been to the pinnacle three years in a row. How do you adjust to being able to make the most of your offseason, adjust that timeline, get your body right, and get your mind right to start over and do it again? Yeah, I mean, for me, it's been crazy because, you know, we've gone so far in the playoffs every year I've been here. You know, I mean, we went AFC championship my first year, then three straight Super Bowl.
Starting point is 00:04:19 So, you know, it's kind of like the only off season I've ever really been a part of. So it's like, you know, I'm going until February, every year basically. So it's one of those things that, you know, I don't really, I haven't really seen, you know, a longer off season, so I'm used to it. But, you know, getting just, you know, for me, I take about two weeks off after each season, then I get back in the gym, start doing stuff. So, you know, I just try to make sure my body's good and everything before I get back in. But it's a, yeah, you know, it's different than college. You know, I feel like in college, it was, you know, you had a week off, then you ride back into, you know, college workouts and everything.
Starting point is 00:04:55 and then, you know, you have this whole two-month period and the offseason in the NFL to where it's, you know, you have the time to yourself and you can really kind of plan around it. So it's a, it was an adjustment, but, you know, I feel like it's something that I've just been used to having these shorter off-season. So I don't really know the other perspective, to be honest. You've been to the top of the mountain and you've won, right? And you've been there recently and come away with a loss. And, you know, I can remember playing in that game and having older guys who had been there,
Starting point is 00:05:23 tell me, hey, the first. feeling of losing a Super Bowl, you'll wish you were never there. Now, I don't know if that rings true to you, but you're somebody who's actually qualified to tell me the delta between the feeling of winning it and what it felt like this year when the clock strikes zero and you guys go back to the hotel together. What is that part like? Because people don't see that. Yeah, you know, it sucks. You know, when you lose a game, usually you have next week to try to get that taste out of your mouth. And then, you know, when you're losing that big game at the end, it's, it sits with you for months, you know. So you're just kind of itching to get back on the field. And you have this long off season. You're going through
Starting point is 00:05:59 OTAs training camp before you get to actually play again. So it's one of those things that for me, you know, you watch the tape after the game, get what you need to learn from it. And then you just try to move on and, you know, look forward to next season. And just trying to, you know, go out there and prove, you know, that, you know, you're better than that and you want to, you know, get back out there as fast as you can. So right now it's been good. You know, everybody's, everybody has the right mindset right now everybody's competing their tails off getting after and it's been fun is this a fun time of year because you get to see maybe what andy's been cooking up does this stuff start coming out now or does it come out in camp a little bit more where you're like
Starting point is 00:06:37 hey that's a new one i mean we had him on this show and he said that he's taking place from everywhere he actually took one from a janitor he's like a janitor pitched to play to him and he's like yeah we'll draw it up and he ran it um what's it like when andy's excited about an install Oh, it's awesome. I mean, I feel like no matter what time of year it is, we're cooking something up trying to think of something. So it's fun. You know, and we've done a few new ones, this OTA's training camp. You get a lot of new stuff in that you're trying to work on, too. So it's a lot of fun. But, you know, I feel like with him, he's never taking any time off. He's trying to figure out the next thing to do and be the first to do it and things like that. So it's a lot of fun, just kind of seeing what his mind comes up with and, you know, getting out there in the field. It's a lot of fun. that screen install is where he really perks up. Oh, yeah. Yeah, I don't know if anybody's as detailed with how screens are run and, you know, the landmarks of each lineman, the back's job, all those things.
Starting point is 00:07:37 I mean, it's so detailed over here. And, you know, we've had great screen games throughout my career and it's been a lot of fun. But, you know, they coach it very detailed here and it's been awesome. And that's a big reason why, you know, our screen game is always so good. When it comes to the install and all that, like, do you have a favorite play that you guys have, a favorite play that you've actually been able to go out and run where you're like, yeah, that play from two years ago, I love that one. I don't know when we'll see it again, but that's my favorite one.
Starting point is 00:08:06 Oh, man, probably one that comes to my mind that I can think of first is our snow glow play we ran against the Raiders a few years ago. We're all, you know, circling around the huddle and everything. That was great. Yeah, it was awesome. I got us called back for the touchdown for a holding penalty, but I wish I could get that one back. That's why I'm like, let's run that one again, please. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:28 Yeah. No, it was, that's, you know, there's so much creative stuff that goes on in this building. And, you know, it's coming from all different sorts of people. And it's always as fun to see, you know, every week we're like, all right, what are we going to install this time? What's it going to be this time? So it's awesome. I know I had heard maybe it was on Rich Eisen's show you were talking about you and Patrick getting into the film during the week, which I think is a pretty common place.
Starting point is 00:08:50 thing, a center, and a quarterback watching film. But you guys are two of the best at your position. Certainly, Patrick is a legend already. Like, what's it like watching film with a guy like that that sees the game the way he sees it? And who's got the clicker? Yeah, no, Pat's definitely got the clicker. He's breaking everything down. I'm just in there watching it with him. But no, it's just so fun to, you know, be able to break down film with him and just kind of see how his mind works, how he's watching film, all the things he's seeing, all the little details. And, you know, whether it's from the D-line, you know, all the way to the secondary, you know, he's, he's finding every sort of detail he can, and it's, it's impressive.
Starting point is 00:09:27 And, you know, just being able to watch those film sessions with him, you know, I feel like I'm learning so much about football and, you know, learning different things every week. So it's, it's awesome. And, you know, we have fun in there, too. We get to talk about a ton of stuff. But, you know, just watching him break down film and seeing how his mind works, it's pretty crazy. Your line has changed a little bit, man, like over the past, I feel like over the past, like,
Starting point is 00:09:50 I mean, since the Buck Super Bowl, it felt like a changing of the guard. And certainly like you've seen a lot of it. And the left side of the line is going to be kind of a new deal this year. How's that looking right now? And at this point, and you said you're coming up on phase three as a veteran, what do you want to see out of your group? Like, what are the markers of being on the same page and moving in the right direction? Yeah, I mean, I think the biggest thing is the mindset, you know,
Starting point is 00:10:17 the mental toughness coming in, competing your butt off every day. You know, we got a lot of new faces in the building right now. So just seeing those guys, you know, you know, how they react to certain things. You know, if they lose a rep, how are they going to react? Things like that. And it's been great so far. You know, these young guys have come in. They've done a great job.
Starting point is 00:10:35 They're picking up, you know, the concepts and schemes well, assignments well. And so it's been fun watching that. But, you know, the biggest thing is just that competitive aspect going in and competing every day, you know, trying to earn your spot, trying to get on the field, things like that. It's great to see. And then also on the offensive line, there's so much communication involved. So the biggest thing I tell those young guys is, you know, there's no time to be shy about things or quiet about things.
Starting point is 00:11:00 You know, you got to be able to communicate well, confident in what you're doing. You know, we don't have time to pitter-patter around and, you know, kind of whisper out there. You know, it's about communicating, making it clear for everybody and making sure everybody's on the right page and then going out and then just competing your tail off with every play you got. And no dumb questions. Yeah, so dumb questions. Yeah. There's no such thing, man. Ask them all. As far as like this phase of it in the summer,
Starting point is 00:11:26 it's always hard for me to tell who can play, like a new guy. You know, like we're out there in underwear. For offensive linemen, specifically, what are the areas when it comes to football that are hard to figure right now? I'm sure it's like the run game, but are there certain schemes and specific things that are really hard to replicate right now that you just waiting to get to camp for. Yeah, you know, definitely, you know, not wearing pads and stuff. You can't really tell too much in the run game. You know, you can do drills and stuff. That's about it. So the run game and everything. And the good thing about, you know, the way our camp is we have spags on that defensive side. So you're getting all sorts of blitzes
Starting point is 00:12:06 throwing at you, cover zeros, twists all over the place. So it's a, it's good to see, you know, the young guys trying to figure that stuff out and just being able to recognize different things. So that's the, that's the best thing that we have for OTAs, I think, is, you know, just recognizing defenses, recognizing blitz, alignments, all those things. It's a big help for us, I think, and it puts guys a step ahead. So that's good for us. But, yeah, I think it's mainly, you know, just the run game, you know, the finishing, you know, you can't really finish much out here during phase three.
Starting point is 00:12:39 You can't take guys at the ground, you know. So it's one of those things that you get to see more of in training camp, and a lot of the guys are excited about it for sure. You mentioned Spags, man, like there's probably nobody better at disguise. Oh, yeah. You know, pre-snap disguise has got to be a motherfucker to deal with. Pardon the phrase. There's no other way I can think of it.
Starting point is 00:12:59 Like practicing against Spags every day, it's probably a double-edged sword where it's like you're making us a lot better. But damn, Spags, how about a normal look? No, yeah. You're not getting very many just four-man rushes coverage dropping out right now. So it's hell right now, but it's it pays off. in the long run. So it's a lot of fun. And when you get to pick stuff up and you recognize it, you know, you feel more confident and stuff and you get to brag about this bag some, be like, yeah, I saw that. I know what you're trying to run right there. I pick that out, buddy.
Starting point is 00:13:30 Can't fool me on that, but then he'll fool you the next play. But yeah, you can't glow for long with him, dude. As far as like around the league, like defenses are so complicated. Now, shoot, y'all offenses too. But, you know, there's so many. teams that do a hell of a job with pre-snap and they do a really good job with the double mug looks and the sim pressures. Who are the groups that come to mind is doing the best job at occupying those A-gaps and making it hard on centers? Yeah, you know, I feel there's a lot of guys that do it, you know, Vance Joseph out in Denver, he does a good job with, you know, all of his rush packages. He's really good at it. You know, obviously Spags is. Fangio does a great job with all of his
Starting point is 00:14:15 rush packages out in Philly. So there's there's so many, you know, teams that can disguise stuff so well now. You have so many guys who are just so athletic that can play different positions all over the field. You know, you got D-Tackles that can also rush end in certain packages, all those things. Tampa Bay is another one. They do a great job disguising their stuff and, you know, running pick twist inside with linebackers, things like that. So it's one of those things you got to be head on a swivel at all times in a lot of the games. So it's a lot of fun. I'm interested in these backers that run games really well, you know, because running games is a, is a thing that some D-Lyman don't even do well, but some of those backers have really an innate ability to understand
Starting point is 00:14:56 angles and the whole thing. Is there somebody that you think of in the NFL, it's kind of the gold standard second-level ad guy or the second-level game guy that runs those games, and it feels like a D-Lyman running those games? Yeah, I mean, we got our guy here, Drew, Tranquil. I mean, that dude, he's, he's great in those games, you know, and he's so good. at him because he's selfless. You know, he doesn't mind getting the quarterback, but setting up another guy, you know, that's what the games are all about. And when you can find guys that do that, that are selfless, you know, they're going to go
Starting point is 00:15:26 in there and pick that hip, you know, they don't care if they're getting to the quarterback because they know they're going to free up another guy. Those things like that, that's what makes a guy so good at it. So guys like Drew, he's great at it. Fred Warner out and San Fran does a great job with it on those things, too. It's pretty cool to see those games ran. whenever those linebackers are, you know, more focused on picking people than they are, getting to that quarterback because it frees up so much stuff and it makes it so much harder to pass them off.
Starting point is 00:15:54 You guys are, you mentioned Fred Warner and I started thinking about your San Francisco game, how physical that was this past year. Like, you guys, you guys have really featured the run game. It feels like a very intentional thing with y'all. I watch you guys and I'm always like, man, it'd be frustrating because y'all are always in third and manageable. And when you're in third and four, good luck, like for the defense, right? That's the way I look at it. What is the most physical game you all played in last year, you think?
Starting point is 00:16:21 Like as far as just the run game, the run fits, and the bodies kind of, kind of the collisions out there. Yeah. I mean, San Fran comes to mind for sure. That was a physical game. Chargers are a physical team. You know, they're coming downhill. They got great players setting the edge like Kalil Matt.
Starting point is 00:16:40 You know, he does a great job. And he's done a great job with the younger guys that are in his room. He's getting them, you know, known how to play the run well, how to, you know, pass rush well. And just, you know, those guys, Tampa Bay does a great job. You know, you got Big Vita in the middle. He's a motherfucker out of there in the run game. What's that like when Vita Vaya lines up right over you? Oh, it's like an eclipse?
Starting point is 00:17:07 Yeah, no, you can't really see second level very well. So you don't know if there's a blitz come or not. But, no, that dude's a stud, man. He's a fun guy to play. against. He's strong, athletic, you know, especially for his size. He's freak athlete. So he's a heck of a player to go against. And there's, there's been some wars and stuff. But it's been fun, it's been fun going against guys like that. Yeah, I think you as a stout center. You're not one of these, like, light in the ass centers, right? Like, you're a stout dude. I try to think of myself
Starting point is 00:17:36 as a stouter guy. Yeah, for sure. Do you see this guy coming out of Florida, the 391 pound guy? Oh, yeah. He's what, is he was tamping out too, right? right? Yeah, what if they have a package where these guys are in two eyes or something? Yeah, he's not running up the middle against that front. Oh, man, dude. Oh, man. The guy, the guy that I love that you guys lost this year, obviously y'all do too is Joe, Tony, who just an all-time, cool guy, teammate, like, intelligent cat can do a Rubik's Cube. Have you seen him do the Rubik's cube? No, yeah, all that stuff, chess master, all those things. Yeah, like, what's the smartest thing he does? Like when you're his teammate, is there anything that blows you away from an intellect standpoint?
Starting point is 00:18:20 Man, everything, just not even football related, because obviously he's really smart in the football world. You can process stuff so fast. But, you know, just watch, like in training camp, him just going and playing chess for a while and stuff. I'm like, I don't even know how to play chess. Like, who plays him? He'll play online. He gets on his phone, plays online. He's like, yeah, I'm playing some guy in, you know, London right now or like stuff like that.
Starting point is 00:18:44 It's crazy. But yeah, he's him. Justin Reed played him some. Drew Trank. He'll play him some. But yeah, very smart dude. You know, plays chess, reads books all the time. Rubik's Cube solver, all that stuff.
Starting point is 00:18:55 He's an interesting guy. So my question about Joe is, you know, like when it comes to him showing up one week and he's got to play left tackle. And they're like, all right, who are you blocking this week? Like, it's Miles Garrett. Take me inside that week of preparation. Like, y'all have a good sense of humor offensive line. And I'm sure you're busting his balls through the week.
Starting point is 00:19:16 Yeah, no, for sure. I mean, when he moved out for his first game, we were starting a three-game stretch in 10 days. And in those three games, it was, you know, Cleveland, Houston, and Pittsburgh. So he was playing Miles Garrett one game. Then four days later, he's playing, you know, Daniel Hunter and Will Anderson. Then he's going up against, you know, Highsmith and Wad over in Pittsburgh. So we're like, well, he's getting prepared for playoffs. so that's good.
Starting point is 00:19:43 But he did a great job. I mean, he's such a selfless player. And he's one of those guys that no matter what, he's always in great position. You know, he gets to a spot in his set. And he's always square and he's, you know, he's always finding a way to win. So watching him do that.
Starting point is 00:19:56 I mean, it's impressive. Not many guys can move out there, you know, on that short of notice and go out there and play against, you know, those three teams with those great edge rushers. And he did a great job for us. Hell yeah. He was out there surviving, bro. Miles was throwing everything.
Starting point is 00:20:11 I was like, damn. bro. They really, I mean, it's one of the hardest jobs in the world playing offensive line. I really that day empathized with y'all. Yeah. But not, so the other guy, Trey, Smith, who Kyle talks about a great deal as well as being just, you know, when Kyle, who's a freak of nature, calls somebody else a freak in nature, I kind of lean in. So I'm wondering what is it about Trey that makes him rare physically? Yeah. I mean, just aside from being, you know, six, five, three, 30, three, three, three, 40, whatever he is, you know, he's athletic and strong as shit. You know, and he has that, you know, he has that mindset, you know, he's, he just wanted them all guys. So he's, you know,
Starting point is 00:20:54 his first punch on, you know, past sets or, you know, is everything in the run game. Everything is just so physical, you know, I feel bad watching D-Lylin and play against him because they're just getting their chest beat in every time he throws a punch. But it's crazy just watching him. I mean, he's so physical. He has that mental approach to where, you know, he's going to be after you until that whistle blows. And he's every time he's trying to get you on the ground. And, you know, it's crazy to watch. I mean, not many guys have the mindset that Trey does. Yeah, I mean, also you said, like, he's 65, 340. There are other guys who have that set of measurables, but, like, he looks different. Yeah, no, I mean, he's put together. He's, he's straight muscle.
Starting point is 00:21:35 That's crazy. If I was at 340, I would not look like that. That's all. Yeah. Could you imagine? That'd be so cool. I'd be touching my knees. That'd be so cool, man. So you got to explain to me your pregame fits. People were talking about your fits pregame. Can you explain the thought process behind your game day fits? Yeah. I don't have a fashion sense. I'll tell you. I'll be the first one to tell you that. I'm wearing a black t-shirt and Jim shorts mostly every day. I have a navy blue hat and a black shirt right now. That's a big. major faux player yeah so i mean for me it was everybody's coming in with these awesome pregame fits and i'm like well i have no clue how to style myself so i'll just wear a shirt that says this is my shirt for this game so i did it for the first week and everybody was loving and they're like oh dude you got to get another shirt like buy another shirt that says you know the next team and i was like i don't want to spend money on another shirt so i was going to buy a roll of duct tape and sharpie it on there and then yeah that just kind of stuck for a while that's so good dude did you roll up to
Starting point is 00:22:37 Super Bowl like that? No, yeah, I only did it until we lost the game. So we, I wore it until we lost in Buffalo. Then I quit wearing it. But yeah, bring that back, bro. Bring that back. I might have to. Yeah, I might try to figure something else out. We'll see. But yeah. Do you think you can pull this off? I asked Jason Kelsey this, but I was like, because you know how Jason dressed when he played. Yeah, yeah. I was like, you know, if you and Travis switch fits one week? Would that not be the most electric thing? You think you could pull off a Travis Kelsey fit? I might have to ask him about that. That would be electric. Yeah, I might have to ask him about it and see if he would, you know. Do you have a favorite Travis outfit that you've seen over the last
Starting point is 00:23:16 calendar year? To be honest, I really don't even pay attention to the kids that much. He's probably heard. I can play a specific one that he had. I just know he comes in looking really nice every week. But yeah, yeah, looking nice and being, I'm like, man, I don't know where he buys his stuff. No, yeah. Going to the defense here, who do you think is? Because I think there's a lot of candidates, but who's the most underrated player on y'all's defense? Oh, man, that's tough. There's a lot of them. Man, I think I'd go with Leo Chanel. That dude just continues to make plays, man. He's incredible. And just, you know, another dude, just, you know, 6-3, 240, 250, whatever he is, all muscle.
Starting point is 00:23:59 Just a psychopath, too. He's awesome to watch, man. Full motor every play. It's incredible to watch. And he's, he's made a ton of big plays for us, you know, whether it's on the defensive side or if it's, you know, blocking field goals, all those things. He's going balls of the wall every play. I mean, he's, you said 240.
Starting point is 00:24:16 I feel like he plays, like he's 255. Yeah, I don't know what he has been. He plays like a 90s linebacker, dude. Yeah, he's a beast. He is a beast. Do you get, one thing I always want to know about centers. Do you get your foot stepped on more than the other guys? I'm sure my guards would tell you different,
Starting point is 00:24:32 but I think I think I do. Yeah, I think I get stepped on quite a bit. By Trey? You get stepped on by Trey sometimes? Oh, yeah. Yeah. Trey does not feel good coming down on your cleat. Oh, I bet not.
Starting point is 00:24:44 What's the last? Joe, though, and Joe would be like, yeah, he creed stepping on me every place. Bro, I mean, come on. There's only so much space to share in there, you know. Exactly. Exactly. What's your least protection call to here,
Starting point is 00:24:57 least favorite protection call to here? Oh, man. any of them where I'm blocking one-on-one. No, but yeah. Yeah, anytime, I guess, you know, if there's a five-man rush, you know it, you got to go one for one with everybody. You know, it's just like crap, especially in third downs when they're bringing, you know, defensive ends inside to play that zero technique.
Starting point is 00:25:20 It's, it gets tough, you know, but you just got to get on as quick as possible. How much leeway do you get in calling protections? Do you call any protections, or is that a Patrick? thing. Yeah, it's, uh, the final call, final say is always a pat. So, you know, I can go up there and call stuff. And then, uh, he, he's got final say. So he'll, he'll check protections, uh, whenever he needs to. Yeah. And, and, and, and, and getting overruled by him probably is just fine. No, yeah, definitely. I remember my rookie year in OTAs, I tried to make a call, then he changed it. And then everybody looked at me and they're like, dude, just go with his call. And I was like,
Starting point is 00:25:54 yeah, no, that's fine. Yeah, perfect. Yeah. That's awesome. One thing I wanted to ask you about was what's coming up, I think, in a little bit this summer, is, and the O-line masterminds get together. It's led in part by my buddy Lane Johnson. What's so valuable about getting together as a group and sharing, you know, tricks of the trade once a year? What do you guys get out of that thing? You got so many of, you know, some of the best players in the league all meeting up for one weekend and talking ball for six hours a day each day. I mean, it's, you can pick so many people's brains. That's the best part. And you know, you can kind of get inside their mind, see how they do
Starting point is 00:26:32 things, the techniques they like to use, because there's just so many different techniques for each given play. And just, you know, getting in there and picking their minds, it's, it's always, you know, it's fun to see. So, you know, you get 70, 70 different professional offensive alignment in the room, you know, it's, you're bound to learn something, which is awesome. And then, not only from that, you know, there's a ton of, you know, retired players, guys that are, you know, in the Hall of Fame and stuff that come to and you know they have a panel that we get to talk to and ask questions and pick their brains you know and see how they approach the game see how they prepared you know throughout the week all those things and it's it's awesome to hear from those guys like that and are y'all
Starting point is 00:27:10 pretty open with each other about hey this technique took me to the next level like y'all y'all are sharing with each other oh yeah no yeah it's awesome everything from you know how you're how you're throwing your punch in the past set you know how your pass that's going to be with you know each down each each front you see, you know, each, each rush pattern, all those things, you know, it's, it's definitely cool because everybody's, you know, everybody's willing to share so much. So I feel like, you know, it's helping, you know, grow the offensive line as a whole across the league and making guys better. It's awesome to see.
Starting point is 00:27:43 And they feed you all well. And they feed us well. Yeah. Good, good. So the reason I bring it up is I saw that you were going to drive to O-Line mastermind. You were quoted as saying you're going to listen to New Sturgle. I don't know when you said this. have you listened to new sturgle uh is sturgill your favorite out right now like who do you like
Starting point is 00:28:01 listening to these days yeah no sirgill's definitely up there you know i love sturgel his new album johnny blue skies it's great uh but uh sturgill's awesome uh you know i like to give most of the people i listen to are either from oklahoma or texas you know that that side of the country scene so guys like you know turnpike troubadors Shane smith in the saints oh yeah Cody jinks, Flatland Calvary, all those guys, man. There's a great music scene in, you know, that Oklahoma, Texas area. So that's kind of who I grew up listening to, and that's who I listen to most of the time. But, you know, you know, Sturgle, you know, he's awesome.
Starting point is 00:28:38 You know, he's a blast from the past for sure. He is. And then you get your cross-Canadian ragweed. Oh, yeah. They're touring again. And JJ Kale, that might be before your time, but I'm a huge J.J. Kale fan. He's from Tulsa. You got to check J.J. Kale out.
Starting point is 00:28:53 So, but yeah, no, do you have a favorite Sturgyl album or? Oh, favorite Sturgel. And you can number them too because I always forget the name of albums. Yeah, probably the Meta Modern Sounds, country music album. Yeah, with Turtles all the way down, that one. Yeah, that was kind of the first Sturgle album I really heard. And that kind of got me into them. And then you got to listen to everything else, you know, buy them.
Starting point is 00:29:17 So that's probably the one I'd say is my top. That's awesome. Yeah. I saw him at Bonaroo. like twice now. I saw him when he was on a little stage, and then I saw him when he was on the big-ass stage, bro. So I'm looking forward to see him again
Starting point is 00:29:31 because he's playing a lot of Grateful Dead. I don't know if you're into the Dead, but I love the Dead. I've been able to see Sturgle yet. I've been wanting to see him for a while, though I'll definitely have to try to catch a concert soon. Bro, they say the shows right now. I was hoping to go see him and Tyler Childers together in Oklahoma
Starting point is 00:29:46 and then COVID happened, and that got canceled, so I wasn't able to go. But definitely got to try to catch him soon. Good deal, man. Well, the last question for you is this. I know you're in a Doritos ad. I'm wondering what the best flavor of Doritos is. Can we settle this debate? Oh, I'd probably say the spicy nacho is my favorite. Yeah. I like spice. You know, I like spice in my food. So I would say the spicy nacho for sure. Spicy nachos. Okay. All right. Doritos pitch man.
Starting point is 00:30:21 All world center. Highest paid center in the league. One more thing. What is this? center by when they get paid what was your fuck you purchased did you have one i haven't bought anything yet no okay good i don't buy much stuff to be honest but it's a very center answer bro i love it i love it man well we enjoy watching you play um good luck to you this year and hope you come on again dude um keep up the great work for sure thanks for having me on
