But I want to say this.
When Vic Fangio was hired in Philadelphia,
a thing I heard a lot was the league has figured out his style of defense,
whatever that means.
You know, it's archaic.
It's run its course.
The guys in Miami didn't like him.
Okay.
They look like shit at the end of the Atlanta game.
I felt like there was a turning point at some point in this season for the defense.
and I think it has everything to do with the way he's developed guys.
You know, like Nacobi Dean has developed this year.
Cooper DeGine's insertion into the lineup.
Who turns Zach Bond into the player he is today just by being like,
hey, look, maybe we should just stick him inside.

A quick reaction from Chris right after the week 13 NFL games.
He talks the Eagles defeating the Baltimore Ravens in Baltimore, a great win for the Eagles.
Their statement win in the season.
He also rips around the league, talks about the Steelers beating the Bengals.
They had to score 44 points to do it, but dang did they do it.
Big day from Russell Wilson.
Also, Bryce Young, look at him go.
Covered?
Sent the game in overtime, scared the bucks a little bit.
A quick recap of the week 13 slate.
Come back.
We'll have our week 13 NFL live reactions later.
Make sure to come back for those.
See you then.
The birds just got it done.
The birds got it done.
First thing I want to say is this.
I don't know if anybody,
college football was actually pretty fun this weekend.
I'm not a guy who watched a lot of it,
but the flag thing can't take my eyes off it.
It's like it's an epidemic.
You know?
These guys will transfer from one school to the next,
but the flag is like talking about mom.
You know what I mean?
I saw a guy trying to put a trident into,
into some field turf this weekend.
And don't expect me
to fucking care about a flag.
Virginia Tech come take my flag,
plant it in my front yard.
Plant it in my front yard.
What am I going to say?
We've lost 22 of the last 24.
It's not even a rivalry at this point.
That's the great thing about losing to your rival.
I mean, if there's any good thing about it,
is like eventually it doesn't hurt.
Really doesn't.
Caught a good show last night.
Watch the, watch the,
the game in the in the bar you know um chuck cecil the Arizona coach i don't know if you all saw
this um head butted a guy and started bleeding guy in his own team so way chuck cecil former um
he was a missile is what i'll call him former missile for the green bay packers like back when
every hit was like that aziz al shire hit yeah yeah yeah and and he coached for the rams when i was
there and I was his guy. Whoever he headbutted today or this weekend for Arizona, that was me,
buddy. I used to be that guy for Chuck Cecil. And I'll never forget one too many headbutts
before one of our big games on like a Thursday night. And I look up at Chuck and he's bleeding
from his head down his face. Just like that was crazy. He looks great, dude. Honestly, for all the
headbutting he does, he hasn't aged a single year. So anyways, we'll talk more about.
about college football a little bit tomorrow, I'm sure. It was just too fun.
Who's the guy for Georgia Tech? Key, the coach? Yeah, Key. Yeah, Key and Kirby Smart are still hugging.
Still hugging. That was, you know what, though? What an unbelievable game that was.
I just kind of like, you know, watched the beginning, went up, played a game of Madden,
because I'm not that into it. And I come back downstairs at the fourth quarter. I'm like,
I better finish. Better finish the game. I was up another hour and a half. That was unbelievable.
Kirby Smart just got mad and started blitzing. It was crazy. Teams were out of their two-point plays.
It's so cool, man. Anyways, all right, pro football. Eagles. How about that? That's a banner win,
especially when you don't play your best game. Like, I'll start here. It's a game where the Eagles and the Ravens
kind of trade quarters, right? Like first quarter goes to the Ravens, second quarter goes the
Eagles. Third quarter goes to the Ravens. Again, 88 yards. The Eagles don't get a single first down
in third quarter. And we're making the turn into the fourth quarter and the thought in my head is like,
I feel good, you know, because we haven't really, we, the Eagles, the Eagles haven't really leaned on
these guys yet the way I think they can do it. And at one point, it's 3117 time of possession.
in favor of the Ravens in that second half.
And the Eagles are up just because, and I'll get into it in a second,
the Ravens didn't take advantage of opportunities.
Okay.
So for three quarters, had the game ended 1412, I would have said the Eagles didn't take this
game.
Like the defense played that way, but the offense didn't come out and win this game.
And then the final nine minutes of the game, I believe, the Eagles had the ball
damn near the whole time.
And so, you know, you see that drive at the end there where they hit Goddard on a huge third and seven on a crosser.
I didn't see enough of that early in the game.
I think Jalen sees that stuff really well.
That was a big conversion.
You get some quarterback run.
Sequin starts leaning on him.
And at that point, it just felt like an eagle spot.
But I want to say this.
When Vic Fangio was hired in Philadelphia, a thing I heard a lot was.
the league has figured out his style of defense, whatever that means.
You know, it's archaic, it's run its course, the guys in Miami didn't like him.
Okay.
They look like shit at the end of the Atlanta game.
I felt like there was a turning point at some point in this season for the defense,
and I think it has everything to do with the way he's developed guys.
You know, like Nekobi Dean has developed this year.
Cooper de Gene's insertion into the lineup.
who turns Zach Bond into the player he is today just by being like,
hey, look, maybe we should just stick him inside.
Stop fucking around with all this other stuff.
It's also a testament to how misused players can be in the NFL,
and you think they're one thing, and you have no idea what they could be.
So Vic Fangio bringing a certain level of maturity to this building, I think.
You know, the juxtaposed to, I'm not saying Nick's not mature,
but what I'm saying is a younger, fiery coach.
you got an elder statesman so one of the biggest reasons i love to hire was like former head coach
older guy kind of different than nick yindu his yang and he brings that maturity into the equation
that i think bears out in a game like this this is a big game that was a big game it has a big game
vibe and when things like read blankenship getting dinged and having to leave the game and like
the third quarter happened i feel better knowing that the guy pulling the strings up
up in the booth is Vic Fangio.
And I'm not just saying like, hey, we insert player X.
It's like when a guy goes down,
you gotta be able to crisis control a little bit.
And I thought they did a good job of that.
I think they've done a good job of that
at different points this season.
But like look at how he's developed these guys.
You talk about the rookies.
Rookies playing well is a big indicator
that the coordinator is a good hire.
Like for me, Quinion Mitchell's probably a stud no matter what.
but the fact that you've got him,
Dejean playing well,
you've gotten the most out of the tackles.
I was impressed with the pass rush,
pass rush,
not only affecting Lamar,
but like being able to play aggressive
and not playing afraid to rush him,
getting him down at times.
But here it is.
I mean,
I've talked about the Eagles side of it
and the Ravens.
Listen, there's a damn good football team in there.
You know,
I've definitely been critical at times
of the distance.
from that team, the penalties, you know, the inability at times to finish games to play down to
people's level as an organization. That's like a trend. But I think the biggest problem in this
game, ironically, was the guy didn't think you'd have to worry about, which was, and this is what it
takes to beat a team like the Eagles. The quarterback has to play great. And I don't think he played up to
a standard. I think he'd tell you that. I think there were two big misses early in this game that.
had the game gone the way, it would have gone if he had hit those throws, I think the Eagles
can't play on their terms. You know, there's the, I think it was likely that it's nine nothing
at that point. If he catches that ball, they're in field goal range at the very least. And I
haven't been a player knowing what it's like to play in Baltimore or somewhere like that
going down early. And it felt like a Baltimore night game because of the time. It's like the sun's
starting to go down. It's like things get kind of spooky in Baltimore. Had they completed that
pass there, I don't know if the Eagles can find a way out. And the same goes for like golden
opportunity for the Ravens after missing that ball there to get out of the shadow of their own goal
line backed up and he misses flowers in the flat. And they're just two throws and he makes some
spectacular throws and some of them should have been caught like the Nelson Aguilar ball at the
pylon. But those two throws, I think he would tell you, are like, hey, I think he's an MVP type
guy. He's already won MVP's in this league. He's playing like an MVP right now, but he missed those
two throws. And had he hit them, the reality is, I don't know if the Eagles can play that game out
on their terms and come out on top. So it's, you know, heavy is the head that wears the crown.
I love Lamar, but, you know, you got to hit those throws. And the kicker, man,
Listen, when a kicker dies, like it happens right in front of our eyes.
I'm not saying the guys washed, but we are steadily approaching, like, the territory where I'm wondering if Baltimore is, like, going to sneak in some kickers into the indoor tomorrow.
And like, Tucker's going to be camped out in the parking lot, you know, looking at the, at the double doors, see if any skinny guys walk through.
Because it is a disaster.
When you look at this team, the one thing they've always been able to rely on is this dude.
right there and they're going to play some close ball games they're not good enough to miss kicks
like that you know they lost the the raiders game in similar fashion with some misses the
steelers game recently and then this one here um you know two field goals an extra point and i think
what's so weird about watching a kicker kind of flame out you see veterans in the NFL kind of like
you look up in the office as you're like damn he sucked last year like we you don't know where the
ledge is for certain positions for different players and one year they could be great and the next
they could really fall off but it kind of happens subtly and if you're not paying close attention
you might not know the third corner is washed and he can't man up anymore that the edge rusher
is a step too slow or you know the linebacker is a little bit stuck in the mud trying to make
breaks on a football like those things happen it's like a thousand paper
But being a kicker, your success is pass fail.
It's binary.
It's there for everybody to see.
And that's what makes it excruciating if you cared about kickers to watch a guy like
Justin Tucker seem to kind of implode before our very eyes, man.
That is wild.
The best ever do it, if not the best.
I mean, I'm watching Eddie Pinero point shave down in Carolina.
He wasn't really.
But like, in my mind, I had the Panthers and the theme.
total. And I'm thinking to myself, like, you just don't know when a cat's going to miss three,
four kicks now in this league. And as you can see late in the season, points are at a premium.
You know, like a lot of unders are hitting. There's some games like Minnesota, Arizona,
where there's missed field goals and they matter, you know, it's popping up more and more.
So you got to have a good one going in December. And I don't know if the Ravens have a good one
currently and that's a tough deal now i'm seeing that you know i know people are going to be saying
hey well the eagles got away with one on the push push yes they did i don't even i don't know how i didn't see
that but i also don't know how they didn't see dallas godder getting you know tugged in the end
zone there um the play before and so like if we're going to talk about that let's talk about
the other thing too i don't think the officiating really uh greatly affected the outcome of this game
That's not me with my midnight green glasses on.
If you're a Ravens fan, you're saying, hey, we were robbed in that game.
Well, you need to have higher standards for your team because I don't think they played that well.
You got to execute in those key moments.
And I thought the Eagles defense did a pretty good job in the run game.
And Saquan Barkley looked strong as fuck in the fourth quarter.
Thing of beauty.
So how about the punter, too?
You know, a couple great pins for the Eagles, man, shouting out punters here.
again, I don't think the game plan was great.
I don't think the QB played great for Philly.
But ultimately, it's like I talk about when you have that life preserver
and you can put it on for a couple drives a game and just wear people out.
It ultimately can get you through some tough times where you don't play your best.
And I didn't think they played their best today,
but they got the win against a good football team on the road.
That's their signature win so far this year.
You know, they go to Cincinnati.
I thought that.
And another thing about defense.
is it wasn't just that they beat Cincinnati.
If you haven't noticed, everybody's doing it.
But it was going in there and making the offense look out of sync with a young,
they had just inserted Cooper Jean into the lineup when that happened.
So really affirming to see a defense like this.
Somebody asked me, is this defense, how do you compare it to 2017 defense we had when we
won the Super Bowl?
I think we're more evenly distributed up front in 2017.
I think Prime Fletcher Cox was a problem.
You know, we had Brandon Graham.
We had, you know, guys in the two deep like Vinnie Curry.
You know, you had rushers up and down the line.
But I think the back end is just another level.
I think the back end on this team is awesome.
Be a fun group to play in front of.
And the backers are playing really well.
Again, Zach Bond and Kobe Dean.
Those guys are playing well.
So great win for the Eagles.
Steelers, man.
I'll hit that other game brief.
here. Just like, who would have thought in the post-Benzhen Rathesberger era that we would be
watching the Steelers put up 44? You know, like for a minute there, it looked like we were just
going to settle in and win and lose 16, 13 games in perpetuity. And I don't even know if they did
this on purpose with Russell Wilson. I want to give them credit, but I don't know that they really
knew. I didn't know. I told you that. I didn't know. But when they made the switch, I was,
I was pretty sure it was the right move. And it has worked out. It's so funny to me watching him do
what he did to the Bengals. Now it's the Bengals. And on the other TV, I'm watching Atlanta
and Kirk Cousins just tricking it off, man. Like, he threw a couple picks that were among
the worst of the day. He was missing guys left and right. The throw in the end zone was like,
What are you doing?
And that was the big signing.
The Pittsburgh signing was insurance or some, you know,
some combination of insurance and taking a shot at something.
And, you know, the shot worked, you know?
So it was like a moonball.
And he hit a couple of day for sure.
But like, I just want to say the Bengals, not take away from the Steelers,
great win.
They've won a lot of different ways this year.
Hell yeah. Russ. Hell yeah, dude. Awesome. A lot of fun. But the Bengals, man, who we've talked back and forth about on this show about like, are they cooked? They're finally fork in them. Done. They were pretty much cooked. Stick that fork in them. That defense historically bad in my book. I don't know what the stats say, but like some of the worst defense I have seen on a good team that should be there. Because, you know,
with a quarterback like that playing the way he's played this year, you should be in the playoffs.
You come off a buy with the season on the line.
You go to the Steelers.
There were so many jaw-droppingly bad moments, man.
Like early on, very clear to me that they miss Logan Wilson a lot.
It's one of those injuries that kind of slides, you know, across the desk late in the week.
And people are like, yeah, they're down the linebacker.
I think one of the things about the Bengals defense that has kind of hit me as the seasons
going on is they lost a lot of team speed.
You know, there are some guys that when guys age in the NFL, they do it subtly,
and some of the dudes on that defense are just not the same.
And I also think some of the calls are next level jaw-droppingly, like that third
and nine at the end of the game where six and a half minutes ago,
somehow you still have a chance you get to stop here.
you're going to force probably one possession game the way they were playing offensively
or at least kicking the ball i mean they mug up everybody in the city of cincinnati is on the line
there are three guys off ball you got three wide receivers out wide and you mug everybody up
you drop two guys right over the football there's nobody in the vicinity it's it's wasted
space. It's wasted.
It's a bad call.
And of course, they leave this guy
Newton on an island
and he gets cooked.
He gets cooked.
He got cooked by Pickens earlier.
Third and four with the game on the line.
Again, like the Bengals,
they've been given so many extra opportunities.
Third and four, the Steelers should
be iced in the game. Steelers hold.
So you actually get a clock stoppage
and you have a chance here to get the ball back.
down six kind of feels like people are leaving the stadium broadcasters are kind of doing a podcast
but i'm thinking to myself like if they can get the ball back they can fucking win the game
Justin fields comes on the the quarterback just grew a foot why do you think the the guy
with the number two on his chest is in there why do you think he's in there read option
got nobody for the quarterback and so
It's a reset in some regards in CINC.
I know, like, I know you're going to say, like, hey, this regime has done a lot,
but they've also squandered a lot.
And I know CINCI's not like a real trigger-happy organization when it comes to, like,
making changes, but some tough conversations have to be had.
I mean, they look lost in the middle of the field.
early on it was just hey don't get down to a running back and make him he's just going to make some plays one of the worst tackling teams in the league so i feel for joe burrow if you went down the list it'd be a greatest hits of ways that they've invented losing games this year but i want to give credit the final thing i want to say is steelers defense edge rushers you know 21 all when tj wat takes the the football off in the first half and that starts a slide
honestly that kind of affected the way the game was played the rest of the way end of half and then
nick herbig who you know is playing in place of alex highsmith makes me to play the game to bury it
makes it a 17 point football game so edge rushers take away on the on the perimeter with the
interception i love my RV i got a 24 footer take my family wherever i want to go even better
i can go alone sometimes i take nate and read to tennessee
sometimes I'll take it to the river sometimes I mean I've had a lot of great trips in my RV
but what I didn't realize is that when I take my RV somewhere else I could be double
dipping I could be making money at home while my house is vacant I could turn it into an Airbnb
and I guess that's the point you never know how much your house is worth you think it's worth
one thing you leave for the weekend you could be raking in cash so while you're away your home
could be an Airbnb had you thought about that your home might
be worth a lot more than you thought it was find out how much at airmanb.com slash host that
alarm went off i got to get going in a second but last thing i want to say here is two two flyover games that
you know i had my eyes on because i had the panthers and i had the team total which is 19 and a half
and like i said eddie pinierre was playing with this with our food out there and uh bryce young
just again really solid stellar game solid and stellar
You know, just leads them down for the cover.
I mean, the cover was made on the play down by the goal line, by defense.
But then we end up in overtime.
We get free football because Bryce Young leads basically a game-winning drive.
And then Tampa gets in position to kick.
It was actually a pretty good game.
And so Bryce, don't give up on this guy.
Who wants to win the NFC South?
Honestly, the bucks for a second didn't look like they wanted to.
Atlanta showed their true colors.
last month of the season and the bucks are like yeah let let's fuck around with the panthers here
it took a turnover in field goal range in overtime let's play the nfc south is is sars let's all
stay away from it let's let's not try to win the nfc south the nfc south title is monkey pox it's
it's fucking it's what it's the division it's like somebody's got to win it no you take it
i don't want it it's going to take eight wins or something
And big shout out to Jared Verst down in New Orleans in the game that might as well have been played in a hangar.
But again, the BetMGM app calls.
So the Rams getting the win and the cover.
Jared Verst with a walk off.
Got to love that.
Oh, got to love that.
Young Rams rushers, man, keeping that tradition going, man.
These fucking guys can rush.
I feel like John Gruden watching their film.
I get all excited.
unnecessarily excited um anyways i got to go bet the bills in like five different ways
the the the the field is there's a dusting it looks like a powdered donut out there i cannot
wait to watch this game so i appreciate y'all thanks for tuning in um tomorrow we will be back
live two o'clock um 2 30 yeah for sure 230 and lastly i do hope travers all right that was a tough hit man uh
Definitely, I'm a big fan of Al Shire, but that's an ugly one.
And like, had he launched over top of him and gotten a piece of him, everybody would have been vilifying him.
And I probably would have had his back because I thought Trevor chopping his feet,
going from full speed chopping his feet before the slide made it hard.
And you're going to get a situation where guys are going to leave his feet there.
But Al Shire is a great athlete.
I think, you know, to me, I saw enough from him finishing that play where I'm like,
hey, I can't really defend that, man.
And that's a bad one.
Just so happens that guy's so dangerous.
Somebody else does it.
Trevor might pop up.
That guy's a missile.
And there was an awful melee.
And, you know, awful melee.
But that's what happens when you, when there's a hit like that.
I'm surprised that Al Shire left without any marks on him, honestly,
because that was as close to, hey, you try to kill our guy.
I'm going to kill you type situation as I've seen in a while.
anyways see you all tomorrow take care let's go watch the bills newly engaged josh allen hope he keeps the
main thing the main thing today that's all i ask
