The Chargers and Titans scheduled release video,
Howie laid his eyes on that for the first time we get his reaction.
We also get some great stories about Bo Jackson and Howie Plain and Cold Weather.
And then we finish up with an all-time celebrity flat top draft.
The guys draft which celebrities have the best flat tops of all time.
Stick around for that just to see if how he gets drafted,

Chris and Dr. Fax.
Oh, me, breathe, low and low.
We know no love, baby.
You were wondering about soft while we lost last night, but a big,
a big deal to me was my parents.
I'm driving to the game.
It's raining out.
I'm wondering if the game's going to be on or not.
And I see my parents on the road in front of me,
and I flash my lights at them,
tell him pull over.
And I'm like, what the hell you guys doing out at this hour?
Because we had a 9 o'clock game,
and they were like, we're going to your game.
So I have mom and dad at the game.
We took an L, we got eliminated basically by ceramico tile.
Hats off to those guys.
Really a first class organization.
But it was great having my folks at the game.
And after the game, dad was like, how's the pot?
I'm like, fuck, at the moment, I have no idea who's going to be on it tomorrow.
And the content never sleeps, man.
You know, so he said, I'll come in, be your bullpen guy.
You know, he always offers.
If you got nothing going on, I'll come.
come in and be the pinch hitter.
And so I took him up on it.
We talked about the NFL schedule release.
It's fun because I got to show him these videos
that these teams are coming out with on Twitter.
Obviously, he hasn't seen those.
We told some old stories.
We talked about Wem and Yama.
We've talked about a few things.
Stick around towards the back for an exciting draft too.
Oh yeah, flat top draft in honor of how he long.
So without further ado, we just turned the money.
mic on and rolled.
Dr. Faxx was talking about getting his, I don't know, what were you talking about getting
some sort of some cash from the NFL for your line of duty?
Oh yeah, yeah.
For surgeries.
Yeah.
You want like a surgery allotment.
Anyways, we cut the mic on and went, so here it goes.
You get 25 a K a year from the NFL if you get that for like various surgeries and treatments
and that sort of thing.
If you get any surgeries, what surgery, would you get the make you taller surgery?
You get a BBL?
No, I told you guys.
I think I would be a little scared, but I think I've read that they might have started rolling out some, quote, unquote, test dummies are real people.
But I want to get the chip that can make you understand.
understand and talk all languages.
That's like the movie.
Don't they have a pill for that?
Well, they're starting.
I think people are starting.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I think people are starting to get like chips implanted in them for various things.
And I think down the line, I would assume that's going to be like some at some point that's
going to happen.
And I think that would be probably one of the most useful things.
Limitada.
Uh, what is this?
I already have the chip.
It's limitless.
He's got that go-to word.
We'll take off in every country once that happened.
Yeah, we will.
Yeah, exactly.
Uh, okay, nothing else.
Um,
are you close to,
are you close to getting the money?
I don't want to fuck it up for you.
We shouldn't.
No, no, it has nothing to do with that.
No, but, um,
the,
the getting taller thing seems way,
Did you know that they're doing this?
Too painful.
Yeah, I saw it.
But you know what?
You're looking at it from a totally different perspective.
Up above them.
You're looking at it, yeah, I mean,
and what I tell people who are, you know,
I don't know what you call short,
but tell people that are perceived by society's being short.
I like how you're doing that.
No, no, really, because I honestly don't know.
I don't look around thinking that's a short guy.
I don't know how tall someone is.
Yeah.
Until someone walks in like, you know,
from the team.
Yeah, like, yeah, John Phillips.
John Phillips walks in, he's six, four, six, five, six, six.
You know, then you know how tall he is.
Yeah.
If the people who are shorter knew that we don't really think about it,
this is good, this is therapeutic.
No, it really is.
If they knew, if you only knew that if I don't,
I don't really think about it.
There's a whole range in there between five, nine, and six foot
where I'm like, oh, your average height.
So we went to Milan and,
great trip to Milan and they've got a beautiful church there and and the last supper is in Milan.
It's a fresco on the wall and, and you go in through these, you know, it's airtight, you know,
it's got the rotating doors. It's like it used to be in some stadiums where you go through,
you can hear the suction in the door. And it's one of the strangest things. Here's the last supper.
and in the middle of the last supper painting,
which covers the whole wall,
Napoleon took out the bottom,
the middle section a foot and a half up
and cut it out because his horse didn't fit in the building.
No way.
I thought you're going to say because he was too short or so.
No, but you know,
that's kind of a short guy move.
It is a short guy move.
You know?
It's a total short guy move.
It's parked the horse outside.
You know?
Well, people always say you have a Napoleon complex.
What does that happen?
mean. Yeah. Right. What does that? My thing is he actually wasn't that short for his time. Did you know
that? How tall was he? I think he was like five eight? I think like five six. Five six. But back
then everybody was diminutive. Well, you look at the buildings here in town that are, you know, some in 1700s,
our house is kind of a short people. An outlier, you know, where the hallways are big, the doorways are big.
But typically everything is built shorter. That's interesting. Well, it's like,
We were on the USS Harry S. Truman.
Everything in the military, the Navy, is built for a certain height, like 6-1, 6-2.
Because you can't be 6-6-6-6 walking through.
Right.
So Terry were on Truman the first day.
Everything's steel on the USS Harry as Truman, all those ships.
It's all steel.
He walks through, hits his head on that doorway, and it staggered him a little bit.
And then sure enough, we went back around that afternoon.
He hit the same doorway and it brought him down to a knee.
God, hell.
And I'm like, at some point, you're going to realize the doorway is six feet tall.
There's some scouting.
Yeah, and the rooms are tiny and the bunks are made for someone who's like six to.
No, I definitely agree.
It's a perspective thing because it's funny for me.
Like, we were all defensive linemen in the NFL.
And for me, at the time, I was always the smallest guy in the room.
So on a daily basis, like when I was in the NFL, like, I was a short guy.
So it's just like, when you have, yeah, when I'm always around.
I don't feel big either because my little brother and him.
Exactly.
Like I just, in my head, I'm an average size.
When I'm around my family or people and people are just like, Nate, like you're really big.
You can't move like that.
Like I don't feel that way because I'm always around.
I'm usually around people who are bigger than me.
So I'm usually the short guys.
So shout out to short people, quote unquote short people to start the show.
I just, we were thinking, we weren't thinking about you.
And now we are.
And we don't care.
Hey,
Dad, when you walked in, you said,
first thing you said,
the place smells like Woodstock, fuck.
At least the way I had a visual woods.
I was,
how do you know?
I heard.
I saw a lot of documentaries on Woodstock.
It's the thing.
We like clean this thing.
This is the cleanest,
the least smelly this place has been in quite a while.
So shout out to these guys for rearranging the set.
I mean,
you should come in more often.
But obviously we didn't do a good enough.
You know, what's that?
Well, you know, I mean, I'm kind of, you know, I'm walking into a room and, you know, I'm a little more sensitive to that than, you know, these two guys was funny at the softball game.
Because I was thinking about the movie Moneyball.
Yeah.
And who's the guy who was, you know, the guy that couldn't throw, he's in.
Got Hattaberg?
Hattaberg.
First base.
Yes, but who played him?
Chris Pratt.
Chris Prack.
Chris Pratt was great.
And I remember when they switched in the first base.
They signed him.
He was a catcher.
He couldn't throw.
And they switched into first base.
And the one player that they signed for big money is an older guy.
David Justice.
David Justice.
He's in the lunchroom with him.
And he's saying, you know, so David Justice,
just after the conversation where Brad Pitt were, you know, he's saying,
hey, we need you to lead.
We need you to be more of a team guy.
And he asks Matt,
Kingston says, hey, what's your biggest worry?
I mean, what's your biggest fear about playing first base?
He said that the ball comes in my direction.
He said, no, no, really, he said, no, really.
Yeah.
That was.
I understand that.
He said that to me last night.
Yeah, it's true.
It's true out there, man.
I pulled my hamstring last night trying to field a ground ball.
You know, I'm one of these guys.
If you hit it to the spot, I might be okay.
but I realized I'm not I'm retiring from second base I yeah to I went to second
turn to that one play I turned two yeah turn two had a nice but but you know the
problem is like I got the the speed to get over to a ground ball but then to bend down and get it
it's just not happening and and and you know what sometimes you got to be like hey that day is over
do you think maybe being in a being in a squatted position are you talking about me mostly
with that? No, no, no. I'm saying. I'm trying to think Nate was excited. The ball be beating them up.
Yeah, yeah. That's okay. But look, I'm not going to lie. I lucked up and the best spot in slow pitch softball to play hands down is catcher.
It's the easy spot. There's no pressure because there's no stealing. Like a couple of foul balls, they might come your way.
Nobody can say good pitch like you every time the ball is throw.
Is the umpire, is the umpire, did you, do you feel like the umpire more so in softball
because it's, I think it's really subjective.
Absolutely.
It's pretty subjective.
Yeah.
Because it's not just, I mean, there's movement in, in, you think that's a power position?
Yeah, for sure.
Yeah.
You're like God out there.
You were saying good pitch.
But you never turn around.
You never make, you know, an ugly face, anything that would lead him to believe that you're
showing him up.
Yeah, you want to feed the ego of those umpire.
Yeah, it's hitting the plate.
I'm not sure what a strike is.
But the good pitch that like, the thing I like about the good pitch, it's a mental, it's a mental
battle for the, for the hitter.
Because when you say good pitch, I think the hitter, regardless if they think it's a good
pitch or not, sometimes they swing at, they swing at balls that maybe they don't want to.
Yeah, for sure.
Okay.
Because the umpire, the umpires also, they, they scream illegal before.
the ball gets over if it's too low.
You should be able to say a good pitch before the ball gets there.
You guys looked a lot like the early version
of that money ball team. Yeah.
How did they do? They end up,
they end up doing really well. See, here's the thing.
The all-time consecutive wins record. And we're out.
Like we, last night,
we got a few games left, but we had to beat
Ceramico Tile to get into the dance.
I was secretly rooting for it to be canceled.
They had a lot. They had a lot.
They had a lot while. Maybe somebody wouldn't be able to
well, we were kind of secretly
playing for that too.
driving down it because it was one of those nights where you know it's it's in between you're
going to get wet it's it's raining and uh but then they've got a rotweiler in the dugout
yeah they did have a fucking rot while there's a big rot while yeah i like the dog we met that dog
afterwards when we were drinking sodas in the parking lot great sure it's a good boy lovable dog
i pulled in the parking lot and i see four or five guys out there just you know slamming some
whatever yeah yeah it's a beer league
Pre-game waters.
But did you have fun watching, though?
We had a ball.
How'd your kids do?
We had a ball.
You guys still got it.
I mean, actually, I think the precursor to your hamstring pull was the triple.
Yeah, just having to run that triple out.
No question. You had to run it out.
Yeah, I had to run that thing.
Because the last thing you want to do is get caught on the fur.
The ball got to the fence in a hurry.
I had to, you know.
Yeah.
And once I pulled the hamstring, I was just trying to hit the ball out the last.
I'll admit, I wasn't trying to get on base.
It looked like it was going.
I thought it was going.
But Kyle still hits the piss out.
of the ball. He's just he's always been a line drive hitter and he doesn't get a lot of loft on it.
No. No, yeah, yeah, yeah. When he'd hit a home run back in a day, it would be out in a hurry.
Hit a hurry. Yeah. Yeah, but so we're, we're eliminated, but we had fun, you know, I got a lot of
a lot of fun. Be looking forward to playing this year. Well, you got guys, you think about the
guys, you got, Anthony never played baseball. But here's the thing too. So he probably should be
eliminated. Ben's back from I.R. Yeah. Yeah. No, we got to develop our child. And re-
Yeah. Is that money ball?
And Reid tried, but to our credit, we didn't practice once.
No.
Next year, we'll get this operation together a little bit better.
You ought to think about stretching a little bit.
Forget about practice.
I did stretch a little bit before.
I did stretch.
I mean, like, I...
Almost every game.
I'm a member at the YMC.
I'm in there an hour before.
He's in there an hour before.
I don't know if anyone know, but I'm always in there an hour before.
You warm up at the YMCA?
Absolutely.
after the first game, I'm not warming up
and me running the first base and
having that, oh, that almost
pull, I was like, yeah, I've only
pulled my hamstring really twice
in my life and it's been playing softball.
That's why, facts, that's why
your car was so smoky before the game,
right? Because he was just really hot.
Yeah, it was really hot. That was
really steam. Yeah, it was just
steamed.
Warming up for the game.
The softball thing, though,
it was really a lot of fun.
Yeah, it's fun. You get together with your buddies.
And it's a, it's a broad spectrum of people.
Yes, it is.
It really is.
The guy, hey, I don't know whether the guy was 37, he's had a hard life.
My favorite player.
Or the guy on the mound was 56.
Jimmy?
Jimmy?
He's like, he was maybe a backup guitarist for Zizi top,
and he's now in the witness protection program in Green County or something.
Yeah, dude.
Yeah.
This guy's awesome.
He was mowing us down in jeans.
No, I'm making big snatches.
Yeah, dude.
One, one.
That finger came up before he hit the ground when he caught the ball.
He caught the ball still in air through his finger out.
The guy has a beard down to his belly.
He's 55 years old.
The first time I saw him, I thought he looked like David Alncoe, but he does look like
100%.
But yeah, he's my favorite player in the league.
And I got a picture with him after the game.
I'm like, I don't usually.
I heard you tell him that.
Yeah, he's my guy.
I mean, we played each other a couple times.
You've got to poach that left field.
Good hit, Chris.
Yeah, we need to get that left field.
You got to get the left field.
He wants to play for you guys.
He's in the transfer portal as far as it.
Yeah, he's in the transfer.
He said he doesn't know anybody on the team.
Yeah.
We'll entice a few of those guys.
But shout out to Ceramico because they were good sports.
We left them a voicemail.
They deleted it because they thought it was a prank call.
Which it was.
Yeah.
Okay, Dad, well, you mentioned Moneyball.
We are going to watch some sports movies this summer and do some reviews.
So when I'm out in Montana, I have a little time away.
We're going to bank those.
And we'll probably me and Kyle sit down watching football movies, whatever.
Do you have a short list of sports movies that you think are must-seas?
Well, you know, there's the five or six that, you know, pop right in your head.
But for you guys, maybe you guys haven't seen it.
North Dallas 40 was an interesting movie.
John Matusak was in it.
Yeah.
And it was really good in it.
It was really a kind of a complex depiction of that time where, you know, you were,
back in those days, you had the one team doctor, you couldn't go to any other doctor,
you know, you got shot up a lot, you know, you did whatever you had to do,
and, you know, money wasn't guaranteed and all those things.
But that was an interesting take.
I mean, the parties, it's like any given Sunday, you know,
Where is there a party where they're saw in a car and a half?
I play for the Raiders and I've never seen parties like that.
You know?
I would say that.
Anything with, I like Buddy Ball.
I think the, what are your favorites?
Man, I don't know.
The fighter, warrior, warrior, warrior.
Warrior was great.
Warrior was great.
I can remember.
You remember we were all watching that?
And everyone was tearing up at the end.
During the Moby Dick scene.
Oh, God.
It was a Gary Busey.
During the boat around.
And everybody, like, it was Nick Nolte's same as North Dallas 40.
Nick Nolte, sorry.
And they, that's great.
Isn't it hard with Nick Nolte and Gary Busey?
Is it hard with those two to?
They are doppelgangers.
That's for sure.
So anyways, Nolte is reading the audio book, and it's like dead quiet.
You could hear a pin drop.
And I hear a recovering alcohol.
Yeah.
And I just went off the way.
a sniffle and then I hear a dad I hear dad go and then and then I hear it was brutal and then and then
uh howie my youngest brother I see him walking you walk out of the room uh like I think
everybody was uh was misty you know you think you think that movies like it's an m m you know not
remember the Titans is is football and everything about and Denzel's great and you could watch that
a million times you know Rudy you could watch a bunch uh but that movie
was at its face value if you're you're you're you really don't know anything about it you see an
m-ma movie you say i don't want to watch an m-ma movie and it's everything but m-ma really yeah it's about
a broken family and brothers and a father who's troubled and you know just a really
fascinating movie with kind of a a cool ending the replacements the replacements with Shane Falco
Yep, the replacements and then Friday Night Lights.
Okay, we're going to watch both those, yeah, for sure.
Friday Night Lights is one of my favorites, and I think the scene with Boobie Miles,
just like him being hurt and just like resonating, like, just the reality of playing any sport,
like you can have a career ending or season ending or an injury to change the trajectory of your career in that sport.
And I just feel like that that scene is so memorable from that movie.
And it's a sixth man with the Wayans brothers.
When he walked through the wall, as a kid, I was, I was tore up.
The best Wayans Brothers sports movie, though, is Celtic Pride.
I've never seen Celtic pride.
And then if you like, no, I'm just kidding.
Are you serious?
If you like Warrior, it's directed by Gavin O'Connor,
who's done some other sports movies.
He did Miracle, which is good.
And then also this movie was an affleck called,
speech and the way back about like a recovering alcoholic basketball coach miracle was great a kid
who lived you know three streets down for me jack hill callan was in that movie he was the kid from
charlestown was getting in all the fights nice like he's got hurt he's actually featured in the movie he's
featured in the movie yeah hockey was pretty big in charleston right what's that hockey was
oh hockey was huge in boston uh yeah didn't you used to well he used to play hockey yeah growing up yeah
Yeah. As a matter of fact, when we had the rink here on the downtown mall, we used to rent the ice at, you know, maybe 9 o'clock or 8 o'clock some nights.
That reminds me.
And I'd pay some guy who was a goalie, you know, 15 bucks to just.
Really?
That's awesome.
Y'all used to go down there and play.
You came.
Well, I came one time and tried to skate and busted my head.
Yeah, you fell.
Yeah, I'm not skater.
Skating's not, you know, unless you do it when you're young and you grow up.
doing it. I used to skate like almost every Friday night.
Did you? Where I grew up in New York, in Portchester, New York, Rye, New York is where
the Rangers at Playland is like this little amusement park that had an ice skating rink.
Yeah. They used to, the, the Rangers used to practice there. Like, and I believe, like,
I have to ask my dad, I believe that before they used to do free skate, the Rangers, like,
when Wayne Gretzky was on the team, like, he, they used to be practicing.
and like everyone like there would be a bunch of kids waiting for like Friday night they put the little disco lights on
Wayne Gretsky was on the Rangers absolutely yeah and like like they all would be there walking out like
before they would clean it and let everyone else go for free skate what's Gretzky most known for is he most known to be a king or
it's an oilers right although I bet how he ran into him when he was in LA right I didn't run into him in LA I've ran into a couple times
other places.
He's definitely the oil.
We're going to talk about basketball a little bit.
You ran into a lot of basketball players, though, right?
Like, because you were there during the showtime Lakers.
Yeah, Magic Kareem.
Mostly those, I think those two guys,
didn't meet a lot of basketball players.
Isaiah Thomas, the Pistons team,
because when they played the Lakers,
Isaiah was hurt.
and a couple of guys were hurt
and they needed, you know, more intense treatment
and they came over to the Raiders
and got treatment over there for a lot.
Raiders and the pistons, that probably get along.
Yeah.
Yeah, it seemed that way.
You know, I mean, I don't think it endeared us
to the Lakers at that time,
but, you know, magic was cool.
Kareem was always, you know, really nice.
They were great at the time.
The Celtics and the Lakers were kind of it
and Detroit was big in basketball at that time.
So with Wem-Manyama, and you know who that is, right?
The big Frenchman.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
You see San Antonio won the lottery, which feels like cheating.
You know, they take a couple years off and Greg doesn't leave
and now he gets another international star.
And also Frenchmen, and you pointed this out earlier, Matt, with Tony Parker.
Boris Diao, so they've had some French dudes.
You could see when Boniana was super happy to be going to say.
I read an article where they said the worries from they were also pulling for the Senate.
Yeah, probably because of Tony Parker.
Yeah, they didn't want to say it publicly before, of course, because, like, you weren't sure
what's going to happen.
But when the Rockets got announced as the number four pick, when Manjana did like a
fist clutch, you know, happy not to go to Houston.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, so we went to a Spurs game one time with Charlie Sheen.
Yeah, Frank.
Yeah, tell me about that.
You know, Frank.
Frank had a...
Yeah, I was there.
I was a little kid.
Frank had a relationship.
Frank Bertowski.
Yeah.
And Charlie was...
Charlie and Frank were good friends,
and they had a ranch together in Montana on the Swan River.
Matter of fact, it's one of those properties where, if you held on to it.
Yeah.
You know, he bought it for $10 then.
It's worth $100 now.
And they had almost, I think, three miles of Swan River frontage, which...
is unheard of.
And you got a Charlie Sheen Buffalo?
Yeah. Matter of fact, Frank
had said to me, because
I don't think Charlie ever spent a lot of time up there.
So I think it became a
situation where Charlie just wanted
to offload his share,
and Frank ended up keeping it for a bit
and then sold it off.
And Charlie had this,
you know, bison that he'd shot.
And it's in my library now.
That's crazy.
Still in my library, that big old bison head.
We got a Charlie Sheem buffalo.
Yeah.
I think I'd pay 500 bucks for you.
Were you friends with any other actors?
Not that you were friends with Charlie Sheen, but glad you weren't.
No, no, I really, uh...
It's just, you know, like, I just hang out with Charlie Sheen all the time.
Like, he wasn't.
My experiences with Charlie were all good.
Right, yeah, yeah.
I met Mel Gibson when I was playing.
I'm trying to think of who else.
Really meet a lot of guys.
Yeah, you can get your...
get out as much. All right. So if you could, if you're like, say the NFL had a lottery and your son
was the top pick and you knew, hey, like whoever draws that lottery ball is going to be where
your son plays for the next five, 10 years, what organization are you hoping picks that lottery
ball? Who can't tell you what position the kid plays. It's just about stability, coaching.
Well, you look at stability and you see.
say well new England Pittsburgh you know teams that are are you know winners on a on a
regular basis now Seattle's kind of have a that somewhat of a rebirth with Pete up there and
they've had a good draft last year and again this year it looks like they'll be coming back up to
the top I've always liked Pete Bill has always been fascinating to me and I think you know
you through osmosis you're just going to learn so much about football when you're there
You know, but it's not necessarily the best place for you.
Let's say your skill set is here.
They might ask you to be here one week, here one week, here one week,
and back at the place that's probably your best spot.
Yeah.
Mike Tomlin is a guy that I've always liked
and would think it would be fun to play there.
Andy Reed, another guy I like a lot.
That actually happened.
Yeah.
Yeah, Kyle played.
Yeah, I really would, you know, I'd say those would be the top.
Yeah, those are the guys you trust with your kids.
Yeah, I mean, there's a lot of guys you could probably trust with your kids.
Just a question of, what are we talking about?
Are we talking about trust?
Are we talking about best coaching?
We're talking about best opportunity to win?
You know, because at the end of the day, you know, it's kind of like the decision you had to make when you left St. Louis
or, you know, when you left New England, you're playing to win.
Yeah.
Particularly at that point in your career.
I'm so excited to announce our new sponsor, Oakley,

So the schedule came out last week.
Now, the first thing I want to do is do you know that NFL teams
do these schedule release videos yet?
Have you seen these?
No.
Yes, so he's not real online.
And I'm jealous of that, but like the Chargers have been this,
they've been out in the forefront of when the schedule release drops,
they do this annual video.
It's like an animation that every week that, you know,
there's some theme deal from the team they're playing.
Okay.
So we were going to show you this video and get your reaction.
I know there's going to be some questions.
There's going to be, okay, so week one, charges dolphins.
Do you get that?
Yeah.
Pause it.
Week one, we've got Mike McDaniel blowing smoke out of his.
Do you get that?
Oh, yeah.
Did you see that whole thing?
Yeah, on your show.
Oh, from my show.
Kyle.
Yeah.
Kyle said something about, I think he's vaping on the sideline.
I was like, oh, Kyle, don't say that.
That's what it looks like.
Yeah, I know.
And that play, that game they had when they knocked the chargers out.
It was a great game, but that was a night when we were having our final dinner of the, you know,
that we were going to be in L.A. before the Super Bowl.
And Jimmy was kind of going back and forth on whether he wanted to retire.
Yeah.
It was kind of a pseudo-retirement dinner.
Jimmy?
But then he kind of made the decision at the end of the dinner, you know, and we all had these notes and we were going to, you know, talk about it.
But Jimmy was going to retire?
Well, he's still, you know, I mean, he's still up in the air.
I mean, listen, Jimmy's 80 years old.
He lives in the Keys.
He's got to drive two hours up to...
Yeah, why would you do it?
Miami and you fly across the country.
I mean, what he's been doing is he's been coming in on double-headed weeks
where we have the late game nationally.
And when he doesn't, when it's not a double-heder, he doesn't come in.
And last year, it was Sean Payton.
He kind of did the Albert Brooks thing with a fake funeral.
You know, on Kirby Enthusiasm, Albert Brooks has a fake funeral.
And John Hamm does the whole eulogy.
he's up in his bedroom and he's watching on video
seeing all the nice things people say about him.
That's what Jimmy almost had happened.
That's, yeah.
As the dinner went on, it became less,
as with each drink, it became less and less about
a retirement dinner and just, you know,
yeah, I'm going to come back.
That's great.
Play the video.
We're a week two.
Chargers Titans.
Okay, Derek Henry's a robot.
That's it?
They didn't take a shot at Derek Henry.
Have you seen him work out?
Week three, the Vikings.
You got Kirk Cousins with a chain.
Week four, you get that?
So they had a slot machine with a few teams on it.
Yeah.
Or a few quarterbacks on it, and the Raiders could only get Garoppolo.
You know, I'll get into the Raiders.
No, go ahead.
We'll talk about them right now.
You know, from what I hear, you know,
Josh McGahnier went down to see Jimmy before the drive.
and they went over the draft in great lengths.
And you know, coaches do that.
They go down there and they go out fishing with Jimmy.
And Jimmy, you know, he's the voice of God.
He's, you know, like when he has Hutton talks, you listen,
you know, and he's certainly that.
He was impressed.
He was impressed with, listen, the guy you were,
or you were at 24 is not the guy you are now.
And hopefully you learn something along the way.
You know, it's like I said, life's like
two elevators. You know, your physical elevators here in the beginning, your mental elevators here.
And they both go in opposite directions. You kind of hit your peak at some point, but then
by the time you figure it all out, you can't do a damn thing about it because your physical
elevators in the... Exactly how I feel right now. Right. And I think, hopefully, for Josh
McDaniel and, you know, the GM that came from the Patriots, who, you know, people hold in high regard,
they like Garoppolo.
They think Garabolo fits the team better.
Garabolo knows the offense inside and out.
He's a worker.
From what I hear, the players love him.
I mean, you know, this is the kind of talk you get in the offseason,
and you're going to hear that from a lot of teams,
but I genuinely think they feel like he's not the guy,
but he's the guy to get them to the guy.
And, you know, listen, they've got very capable.
receivers there, very capable, you know, skilled people. They've added more pass rush.
They probably need offensive line help, that's for sure. And I'm sure that'll get dialed in.
The Devante Adams thing, you know, this week he was like, listen to me in the front office aren't
on the same page, but I'm going to keep working and yada, yada, yada. Do you feel bad for?
We said they weren't on the same page? Yeah, and I, you know, I think it's probably inferred that
they're talking about the planet quarterback.
Was he hoping for Rogers?
I'm sure he was hoping for Rogers.
Yeah.
You know, and part of it is, to me, another thing he said this week is, hey, I'm also certified.
I was all pro again without Aaron, you know, so, you know, I hope people take note of that.
I agree there.
I totally agree.
I mean, he's a great player.
I mean, he might be the best receiver in the league.
but also like you know I hope that Devante Adams because I like watching him so much
doesn't let the frustration get to him because you know last year you saw it like he's not the
type of guy to push over a camera guy it's just it was one of those years and it's a weird deal though
you know yeah it was a weird deal I tell you when I'm in that kind of when you're in that mode
you don't know you don't know and there's a guy that's running by running by you on the road
in front of you I don't know but the point I don't think that's
He's not that guy.
The point being is not that guy.
And that was not his best moment.
He's not his worst moment.
But here's this great player.
Like, don't let this situation get you down.
Like continue to prove to people that you can be great with whoever's playing quarterback.
And that's the way, you know, as an athlete, I'd look at it.
But I also understand that he probably feels he's leaving a lot of money and a lot of production on the table
because he's not playing with the top 10 quarterback.
Jimmy G is like a fringy guy who I really like and respect.
but yeah, I get DeVante's frustration.
You think you're going there with Aaron Rogers, possibly a year ago.
And on the other end of things like there's this,
you saw what happened in Green Bay this offseason?
Maybe it'd be different if Rodgers was, if Adams was still there,
but this is why you leave Green Bay because now it's a fucking mushroom cloud.
Yeah, and I think a lot of things went into that.
I mean, you know, depending on where, you know, speculation and reality sits,
did Aaron do enough to try to keep him around?
I don't know. Did he call? Did he fly out there to see him?
You know, I certainly, if I were around and I know I'm coming back.
And the problem was, Devante didn't know whether I think Aaron was coming back.
Is he there for a year?
Right.
If he's only there for a year, I'm going to sign an extension, a long-term deal.
Yeah.
And only Green Bay was, God knows who.
Yeah.
I mean, listen, Green Bay is, it's a once-in-a-lifetime kind of,
experience if you're a football fan to go to Green Bay.
But was it in 1989 as a player?
You know what I mean?
That's my point.
That's the thing is like they've been blessed with great quarterback play.
Yeah, and they say the field is heated.
They have coils.
That's bull.
Trust me.
And also it's, you know, a month off the heels of them losing, them trading Darren Waller.
Right?
So that's another piece that, you know, the defense had to look at.
And Devante Adams, you know, doesn't have that, you know, security.
that the defense has to pay to him as well.
And so part of me wonders, Reed, if, you know, like,
it's not so much just the quarterback, but it's, you know,
he's thinking about it and saying, like, I've seen our plan,
and it's not to win now.
And it's frustrating to me.
Like, that's a possibility.
I'm not sure if that's their viewpoint that, you know,
I think they believe they're in a win now kind of, you know,
stage.
The question is,
can you be patient in how they're doing it?
Right.
Does that mean you're rebuilding?
No. I've heard
conflicting reports. They
reached out to the Packers about Aaron Rogers
or whatever. They did or they didn't.
But here's a thing.
That head coach,
Josh
is not going to change his offense.
He's not going to change the entire
system that he
carried through it, Tom Brady and had all
that success to bring in Aaron Rogers for a year or two. And then go back to that system again
two years later. It just doesn't make any sense. Because then you have to reteach the whole system
to everybody on the office. Okay, run week five. It's a buy. Week six, Dak, they have Dak
reading a tweet from the Dallas Cowboys basically saying that he's the reason they didn't win a game
when Jerry threw Dak under the bus and they threw it up on their social media page. So the
account basically took the side of the owner in that situation and threw
back on the bus and so you have the content team running a bus yeah is it and
down yeah yeah you know Jerry Jerry that's a tight run group yeah week seven
they play the Chiefs now do you get this an ankle monitor yep chief super
fan who is known to wear this wolf costume to hype the fans in the crowd
up supposedly on his way to games last year he was actively robbing banks in his costume and then
using that money to bet and to go to games.
Tell you what, can we get the rights to that movie?
Yeah.
And who's gonna start?
A great movie.
That's a great movie.
Yeah.
You didn't hear about that though.
No.
Not online.
And now he's like, he's like super like fan like super famous like I guess online famous.
He's going to be famous in the joint.
Yeah, like, yeah, I don't know how long he has to do, but I'm sure.
He'll show up later in this video.
You'll see him again.
Week 8.
Oh, yeah, he snapped.
You've got the Chargers and the Bears.
I don't know, Fields is a little bear.
Bill DeBarre.
Aaron Rogers.
New York.
Yeah, that's going to be fascinating.
You see that billboard there on the Aaron Rogers?
No, what did it say?
The single cougars in your area.
Oh, because Zach Wilson.
Did you hear about the Zach Wilson thing?
Yeah
You don't want to talk about it though
No
New York
There's that other
New York
Jack Exchange
Yep
That's so funny
Week 9 there's Mina
Joe Kleco going in the Hall of Fame
Oh yeah
Do you get this
Gambling problem
So week 10
Chargers Lions
You see this gambling
Hotline
Helpline
Oh my God
Right how about this stuff
Now this is the Chargers
Yeah
I wonder what the league thinks about that.
I don't know.
The league kind of, you know, listen, they're social media team.
Yeah, I know, but they control everything.
They take a lot of shots here, the Chargers do.
W. Social Media team.
I love this.
Keep going.
I guess it's California, you know.
Yeah, you do it.
Out there, sun shining.
Week 11.
Chargers.
Dark room for Aaron Rogers.
Darkness retreat?
Yeah.
You heard about the darkness retreat.
Yeah, and I'm glad you brought that up.
I don't know Aaron personally.
Yeah.
You know, your mom says she met him once and he was really nice.
He was really nice. I've met him a few times.
He's a great guy.
He's probably a good guy.
He's a little out there and that's okay.
You know, we've all played with guys who are a little bit out there.
For whatever reason, I mean, he feeds off of it.
And I think we have a hard time separating church and state with him.
He is an all-time great.
What he does with a football is ridiculous.
He's an amazing player.
Talking about a three, four-time MVP.
Come on.
I mean, people can't separate that.
They're so fixated on, listen, I didn't agree with his position on, you know, on, you know, the vaccine and, you know, for a number of reasons.
One is, listen, if it's you and it's just you and you're worried about yourself and that's fine.
But when you're in a locker room with older coaches and some people could be, you know, getting treatments for this or that.
Privately, yeah.
An underlying condition and you're possibly putting someone at jeopardy.
I just think for the greater good, it's, you know, please, I get that you're, you want to stand on the soapbox with that.
And the other thing was, and from a football standpoint,
you've got all these young wide receivers.
And, you know, unlike defensive linemen, I mean, we can get together and work out.
But we don't have to do the mesh points on our bump easies and, you know, pick tough to get on the same page with those young receivers.
And we saw it happen throughout the course of the year.
And it happened the way you think it would happen for a group that wasn't together in the off season.
It slowly kind of ran its course and they got better and better.
And they kind of hit their stride towards the end of the season.
And they don't have that luxury in the year.
York, which is why I know that pushing that trade through early enough was so important,
because Green Bay could have sat on that thing until August or September. And, you know, at that
point, I don't know if you make a trade for a guy like that on a possibly one-year rental,
because every game's so important, you're playing the best division in football. The way the
jets start their schedule, we're going to talk about the schedule on a minute, is brutal.
So they have to be on the same page quickly. How long would you last in a dark room?
I don't know
it's not totally dark is it
yeah it's pretty dark
okay so they have the raven's mascot in a wheelchair
did you see that last year
oh yeah it blew a
blue an ACL yeah yeah yeah
did you see the mascots from Arizona
and Arizona State getting the fight
no legit pull it up from last year
yeah because it was a week before we had gronk on
yeah and the the Arizona mascot got
you know he took it overhand right
and well because Arizona State is
is the state school.
They're a little bit tougher.
Is it?
Yeah, that's usually how it works.
Like with Virginia and Virginia.
Well, Grunks.
So they got in the real fight.
Yeah, they were throwing.
Look at them.
Look at them.
Oh.
They were throwing.
Does that even hurt?
No, he ends up going down.
Does that even hurt, though?
I mean, you got the,
oh, they separate them.
Oh.
Yeah.
Got them with the overhand right.
You got to go uppercut.
Get the head off.
Now, they have boxing gloves.
So this is real and it's sanction.
I think it's sanctioned.
I don't think this was like, you know.
He was, he, that didn't look like an exhibition.
No, I didn't.
The kid from Arizona, Arizona State was throwing haymakers.
Okay, Bill on the Iron Throne.
That's a really like, I'm not going to take a shot at Bill.
Yeah.
But possibly that he could be on the way out.
It would be on the way out, but also all those camera angles.
Yeah.
I think that's a callback to a couple years ago when they had that video camera in the booth.
Yeah.
See, Reed, you're.
More online than me.
Are you talking about SpyGate?
Yeah, yeah, SpyGate.
When they had that camera, I think it was the bills,
they had that camera set up shooting down at the practice.
So there's a good time to ask you,
because Aaron Judge is in the news for possibly cheating
because he's looking at the dugout between,
back in the day,
was there any, like, on the line stuff in the NFL
where guys would get away with shit?
I mean, obviously besides performance and enhancing drugs,
but, like, you had the Stickham guy.
I was just about to say stick.
Yeah, but that wasn't illegal.
It wasn't.
No.
No.
Freddie Blithecov, Luster Hayes.
That wasn't illegal.
What about stealing the other team's water bottles?
Is that?
Oh, I took one water bottle.
And it's like it gets blown out of proportion.
I was like, you know, it was one of those games where, you know, it was kind of like a ram game where, you know, we're whipping you just defensively.
We're whipping you or we're down 14 to 7.
And you scored 14 of your points on, you know, you turned our offense over at the seven-yard line and, you know, you blocked a kick or whatever.
An interception for a touchdown and you've done nothing.
And I was young and dumb.
You know, you do those things.
And so you walked into the other huddle and took their water.
Yeah, it took a water bottle.
Yeah, it's not cheating, but might be a code break.
No, yeah.
But that was fun.
When I played, my thing was to take Old Lyman's towels, mostly the center, because it's usually the core.
quarterback towel that he needs to wipe
it's like your good pitch so it's just like it's just
petty enough like if you take it
and then if it's like a I wouldn't even play with that
I mean that's that there's
the ramifications that the ripple effect of that is
it's not just the center could be getting high load
it's a quarterback it's a fumbled handoff
an interception because you didn't get to wipe his hand
let's go week 14 charges Broncos
this is where I think the Pokemon shows up
yeah that's SpongeBob
why is SpongeBob
who is that supposed to
to be the, that's Patrick from
SpongeBob. I don't
understand why Russell
has a spatula. Because he's SpongeBob
Squirtpants? No,
I don't know. Is that what there's?
It's a callback to earlier last season
Christmas Day
when it was one of those
broadcast games, the Nickelodeon
broadcast games, and Russell
threw a pick with Patrick Star
he was like in the
picture in the lower three. Yeah, I do remember
that.
Yeah, I'm surprised they didn't happen.
That year went as bad as a year could go there.
It'll turn around this year.
I believe in Sean.
You will see Sean's fingerprints all over this whole thing.
Yeah.
He doesn't play around.
You think he'll trade for Taysam Hill?
Probably give up everything.
They already traded for one St.
I know he loves Taysam Hill.
Loves them.
And he loves the running back.
He loves both those guys.
Yeah.
So week 15.
Chargers Raiders, Fantasy Valchrist.
Oh, KC. Wolf again, getting chased by the police.
And you get, is that Pat McAfee?
Because Pat McAfee got the Chiefs O'Holic.
How about him getting the ESPN deal?
I'm confused by that a little bit.
I read where he's...
Basically, they bought him out of draft kings or whatever.
He's going to do his own show.
Yeah, I guess his show is going to change a little bit.
It's going to be on YouTube, on the ESP.
It's got to change a lot, I think.
According to them, it's not going to change.
I'm not going to.
He retains all creativity.
Hey, if you still want to hear a fuck and you, you like to patch show, but maybe you need
a new show, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck.
Basically, they've done this two-hour live show every morning during the fall season.
And now they try to pick up that's crumbs, but yeah, fuck.
No, I'm not doing that.
Okay.
What they need to do with the charges, get it figured out on the field.
Yeah, right.
Listen, if I got a quarterback like that, figure it out.
I got talent like that.
Figure it out.
Figure it out, man.
That was only the second best
release.
You want to show them the other one?
I think so.
Show them the other one.
St. Louis Rams.
Oh.
Liza McQueen.
Oh, that's just the football.
That's just the football logo.
The Boston Bobcats,
no idea.
Wow. Yeah, right? Wouldn't you think more people would...
They obviously just picked the worst answers.
This one is the red stallion.
That's a bird lady.
49ers, 49ers, she says.
49 to she did...
Oh my good, dealers.
It's a pirates!
Of the Caribbean.
Chester Cheeto.
Yeah, they definitely get the worst ones.
Tigers.
North Carolina Tigers.
Pretty close.
That's the exception to the rule.
That's the Cowboys.
That's the Cowboys.
Texas.
It's got that.
Oh my God.
Atlanta.
Florida.
Florida Dolphins.
Hey, we're close.
Oh, Texans.
Texans?
Hey.
Eagle, Eagles, Eagles.
Houston.
Um.
Hesper.
And it's the Seahawks.
Who's that?
Bulls?
Who?
Patriots?
That's a Patriots logo.
Wow.
Don't I'm...
That actually does not exist.
That is MASH.
Tennessee Titans.
Titans.
Okay, good.
So they know the Titans.
So the schedule's out in, you know, these videos are...
I had no idea to even exist.
They're doing this stuff.
So...
Speaking of the charges...
And I'm glad I...
I didn't waste my time on it.

If you have a question about a topic we're talking about, fired off in the chat, we'll answer.
We're going to be doing what we've been doing all fall every Thursday at 430 on amp.
Check us out.
We just talked about the Chargers.
I want to talk about some of the biggest games this season,
but also some stuff we saw with the schedule.
And I know we're like a week late,
but maybe that'll help us because you got so tired of hearing about it last week.
But like the Chargers kind of got fucked here.
No home stands, no consecutive home games, the entire season.
And then they're week five by.
So they get the earliest possible buy.
I have no consecutive home stands.
Yeah.
Yeah, that is bad.
You know, like the Jets, we talked about that earlier.
They open with the bills on Monday night football.
They get Dallas on a short week.
They go Pats and then Kansas City.
And, you know, like looking ahead to a Jets Patriots game Week 18, that is like, mark my words,
there's going to be a lot on the line there.
And the Pats might be out of it, but that is a perfect spoiler spot for Bill.
You know, he hates the Jets.
I, you know, I think they're going to, it's going to be a different year.
They'll be better, but their schedule is tough.
Yeah, I get it.
I like their defense.
Bill O'Brien, you know,
and everyone you talk to says the same thing.
Yeah.
Bill O'Brien will bring stability to their offense
and they'll get more productivity.
Quarterback will be better.
You won't see the, it just,
it was mind boggling last year.
Yeah.
And like, you know,
you talk about teams that got tough draws.
I mean, Jacksonville is going to be in London
two weeks in a row.
Now, if you're going to play twice in London,
you might as well do it in a row.
Yeah, but you don't get a, they don't get a buy.
They don't get a buy.
They have to play the next week, and then they get a short week, two weeks after they get back from London.
So Jacksonville kind of got screwed over a little bit.
They're used to.
They're there every year.
They're the team that most people in London are excited about.
That's their home team in London.
They call them the Jaguars?
Jaguars.
Right?
Yeah, that's good.
So this is something good to see the Bears have four prime time games.
So Chicago is going to get four.
four prime time games. Detroit.
That kid's electric.
Yeah, he is.
And Detroit, I mean, the Lions have four prime time games as well.
So some of these franchises in the NFC North
that you barely ever see on Sunday or Monday night.
Dan Campbell's still the number one guy
in the lock him in a room,
five minutes with another coach.
He's coming out.
Oh, yeah, he's coming out. Yeah, no question.
I mean, Rabel's close, but I just...
Rable, you know what?
Wrestler.
Yeah, dude.
Yeah.
Well, the wrestler thing kind of scares me.
It might be brave.
Brave, I could prick you,
Rayble, will throw it a cigarette off.
Yeah.
And just,
and just making mince me to somebody.
They did that workout video in the Titans,
just him just getting dudes on the sleds,
just pushing the plowler.
Now, I love the prowler.
I didn't think that looked that hard.
And any time, you know,
social media team can walk up to guys mid-workout,
and they're like, oh, man, this is hard.
Yeah, yeah.
You know, like, if it's fucking difficult,
like, they're not going to be able to talk.
What's a prowler?
You know, the sled that you push,
it's got two poles on and you put weights on it.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, I trained you on that.
Yeah, the prowler sled.
Prouler sled is a great workout.
It's a great.
It's like, it's like sushi sticks.
Yeah.
Chop sticks.
Further you go.
Yeah, yeah.
It picks the weight up.
Yep, yep.
Oh, you're thinking about the leverage sled.
You thinking about leverage sled?
No, you drive it.
Yeah, you drive it.
Yeah.
So, so, yeah, I mean, like,
the Lions, not just four primetime games,
one of the games I'm most excited about,
is week one, it's Lions Chiefs.
And, you know, like, I hate to be chalky,
but I want to see how far this team's come.
You know, they play, you know,
down the stretch, they were on fire.
We talked to Dan Campbell about that on the pod last week.
How do you carry that momentum over?
Well, like, here's an opportunity right out of the gate.
And it's easier to play in Kansas City week one than it is week 14.
Like the scene in Kansas City,
I mean, I can remember we opened there when we won the Super Bowl.
And, you know, it was a wild atmosphere, the whole thing.
But, like, when it really gets cold and it gets into crunch time, that's when it's really tough there.
It will be hot, and the lions are going to have a lot of pressure on them.
It's hot.
It's fucking hot in Kansas City or St. Louis.
I played in a number of hot games there.
When it's hot there, it's hot there.
Yeah, because you're breathing in the humidity.
And then played in one of the, it was a freezing rain where your teeth are chattering in the huddle.
It's worse than playing in 15 below and dry.
Did you sleeve up?
Oh, God, yeah.
The whole thing of you're not tough if you sleeve up,
well, kick my ass then.
Make your move, man.
Nothing between us, but there and opportunity.
Yeah, exactly.
I mean, that's going to be a great game.
I think week one coming off the,
listen, they just won the Super Bowl.
That place is going to be rocking.
You're right, because they're going to hang the banners.
But that's going to be a great test.
I mean, early on, you got Jets, Cowboys, Week 2,
Rogers and McCarthy.
I'm looking at Seahawks, Bangle's week six.
I think that'll be a lot of fun.
I love watching those two teams.
I'll be really fascinated to see how much of a jump Seattle makes.
They've had two great drafts.
Well, they have two great drafts.
The personnel is getting better.
They're more confident,
but the whole question is going to be,
can Gino just build on that,
or was that like an anomaly?
I think Gino's the perfect guy to run
the style of offense,
that, you know, Pete wants to run.
And he threw great balls last year.
It wasn't just some, you know, like he was the product of that system.
And then they add another wide receiver in the draft, Jackson Smith and Jigba.
So they're going to have some really good players up there for him to throw the ball to.
Dolphins Eagles, a lot of great skill players on the field for that game, week seven, in Philly.
Bill's Bengals, week nine.
You get Sauce and Devonte, week 10, Garoppolo Rogers' revenge game because Garoppolo beat Rogers
the last time they played.
There's not a lot of good.
You talk about sauce, and it's interesting because, you know, when we played, we had Mike Keynes and Lester Hayes, and they were two totally different guys.
Mike Haynes was like he was a mimic.
He did everything you did.
You could throw the, you know, the double move.
It doesn't matter.
Mike just mirrored everything you did and never looked like he was working hard at all.
Yeah.
And he was tall and long.
Lester was
he's rolling craps
He was just physical bump and run
And converted linebacker from Texas A&M to a corner
I didn't know he was a linebacker
Yeah
Yeah
You wouldn't think so because Lester said
You look
7583
Play that run over here
Because I'm not playing it
Yeah
But you know
This kid's you talk about
Shut down corners
That's hard to do in today's game
Yeah
You're in subpacking
all the time, a bunch receivers, the picks, everything else, smokescreens, the whole thing.
Sauce Gardner is that guy.
Yeah, he's him.
He's him.
Oh, wow.
We just did a I'm him draft yesterday.
You know what I'm him means?
No.
Oh.
It's a good thing.
Yeah, so basically it's like kids these days say like, you know, if somebody has a big
moment where it's like evident that they're the guy.
Yeah.
Like in sports.
Oh, they say I'm him?
It's an I'm him moment.
What's the biggest I'm him moment you ever saw?
Was this something Bo Jackson related?
Bo didn't have to say I'm him.
I'm telling you, I tell people this all the time.
I mean, I would sit in my helmet on offensive day.
We had a mini period.
I think offensive day was Wednesday, defensive day was Thursday,
or maybe it was flipped.
I don't know.
But whatever it was when I was.
when I would just go in and do a couple of reps just to, you know, bail out the backup guys who
were doing, you know, look team. But I'd send on my helmet and Boak came in, you know, it was a,
it had never happened before where a guy comes in the middle of the season from baseball. He puts
on pads. And, you know, a lot of people say freak show, you know, and there's a small, you know,
a small list of guys.
Barry Sanders, Dion Sanders,
LT,
where you could lock them in a room for six months.
They come out of the room without a workout or anything.
You're saying.
And be the guy.
He,
at that size and that speed,
and you know,
the,
level he had turning the corner.
He's the only guy I've ever played with,
we ran a one-man reverse,
where we literally,
he counter-actioned on a full sprint,
three, four steps,
and then turned himself.
And it was a one man,
and the backside tackle would go to cut off, cut off,
and peel back.
And the entire state,
and I think it was in New Orleans,
went,
you could hear everyone just breathe
because they'd never seen anything
move like that. It was like the first time I saw Willie Galt run on a rurice. I was like,
I can't catch him. Yeah. You know, I'm, I'm on the front side of the reverse. I can't catch him.
Who's going to catch him? Yeah. You know, but this is a guy 234 pounds runs a 418 and, and his pad
levels down to here. And he's looking for, hey, and he's looking for contact. He's looking for
con. He was trucking people. Do you remember the buildup with the matchup with him and Bosworth? Because that's
something that's like mythologized now like the younger generation here's who's the
fullback on that play on the big run up and see i don't don't don't go to your laptop i do not know
how the fuck are we going to know marcus allen was oh yeah yeah he did play fullback okay
marcus allen was the full back wow on that on that long run to be fair to bryan bosworth
it was a bad angle and you know it wasn't as bad as people make it out to be and you know it's
there were far more impressive things that I saw Bo do.
Just walking off the street and run for 200 yards.
I mean, just amazing player.
Yeah, you know, Bo has had the hiccups for a year.
I know.
I would think about calling.
I need to call him.
Yeah, tell him about peanut butter.
Oh, I will.
I mean, not that he's probably tried peanut butter.
I don't know.
He's probably tried.
I've never heard this before.
When you have hiccups, you just eat a spoonful of peanut butter.
I had hiccups the other night.
Heacups.
Really?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
We say he cup in Boston.
Yeah.
I'd be confused with she cups.
What is that?
Hecups.
The peanut butter for hiccups probably
smells a little bit better than the porcupine anus.
What, would you do that?
Well, that's what?
What?
Bo had to do what?
He tried everything, including smelling a porcupine's ass is like a homeopathic.
That's what?
That's what he said.
That's somewhere down there by all.
That's some country shit.
That's somewhere down there by Aubrey.
I tried.
He goes,
I tried everything.
I tried smoking of porcupines ass.
That's funny.
I imagine some guy that they're like,
what are you doing?
He's like,
oh,
trying to get rid of my hiccough.
Trying to get rid of my fucking hiccups, man.
Give me that.
Oh, yeah,
I forgot about that.
That works.
Yeah,
there's a few more.
I mean, like,
Ken's City and Miami.
I talked about Jacksonville,
spending two weeks in London.
Ken City and Miami in Munich is going to be awesome.
You got your two indoor.
Thanksgiving games. They've taken some
really good games to put them in Europe.
Yeah, the Tampa, Seattle game last year
was great.
You know, so you got two indoor
games on Thanksgiving. You got one outdoor
game, San Francisco, Seattle, thank the Lord.
But no natural grass. NFL keeps
fucking it up. You've got a game the next day now
too, Jets Dolphins on the Black Friday.
Yeah. Which is good because when you're
when you're, what are you doing on Friday?
I'm not going to Best Buy and getting trampled
over a fucking phone. Do you think NFL
Do you think they would do like a streaming deal on Black Friday since it's so expensive for for you think by time then late that late in the season though like I don't think they're going to roll out streaming on short notice
But that's going to be interesting because I feel like that's good that's a really good niche and they're filling every
Crack and crevice they can with football everything else goes like this. Yeah
Yeah, it's on a
It's on a good investment
That's when they like the schedule release videos
Just keeps them in the news.
Yep.
Baltimore plays one playoff team in the first eight weeks.
So that's a nice edge there.
Bill's two big.
They're another well-run.
You might,
yeah,
you might trust the.
And they'll be good.
Bill's two biggest games,
they have big rest advantages.
They have a buy before the Chiefs,
a mini buy before the Bengals.
So that's really big.
And another elite team that,
you know,
I've told we talk about too much on this pod.
The people that crack me up are the people
under the socials when they happen to be about the Eagles.
Like,
I would listen to this pot.
if you all talked about anything like the Eagles.
I've been here a fucking hour.
I haven't said a word about the Eagles.
But here's the Eagles schedule layout.
The second half of their season is a gauntlet.
Look at it starting week 10.
They play seven out of eight weeks against playoff teams from last year.
They're at the Chiefs on Monday Night Football.
They get the bills at the Eagles the next week and then the 49ers at the Eagles.
Three weeks in a row, you've got really elite teams, one on the United States.
the road on Monday night and that's when Kansas City is really in my opinion going to be just
like off the chain. I'll tell you what they, I'll tell you what they do, you know this better than
anyone. What they do that is so unique in Philadelphia is, and I haven't seen it. Scout Georgia?
No. Well, yeah. They, and listen, you know, if that kid, if that kid is, if he's got his mind right
and he's ready to go,
and I'm sure that room will be good for him
and that offensive line will be good for him.
I think the coach will be good for him.
I think, you know, being around five players from Georgia,
I think it is, we'll be good for him.
But that offensive line, this places people,
it's like a, it's almost,
I've never seen anything like it only in college
where, you know, you get a college team
who's playing a team that they're paying to come down
in week two to be their homecoming game.
You know, I mean,
they physically beat people up.
And in a game where we're in sub packages all the time.
And you think about it as a defensive lineman,
all these guys want to do now is they want to run up to field,
run up the field, run up the field.
It's about the numbers.
It's about the numbers.
And that's a week where you just got to say,
I got to buckle my shit up.
Yeah, and the quarterback's stuff to tackle.
Yes.
And they're going to do it 40 times.
It's like I just did this thing.
Terry and I did a thing up with Joe Gibbs.
Joe came up with that scheme to really kind of attack Lawrence Taylor,
to try to figure out a way to stop Lawrence Taylor.
And it was a two, three, tight end offense.
And they ran counter 66, counter 67, 35 times a game.
And you just, you know, it's kind of like Jimmy's Cowboys ran lead Jokero out of near eye and far eye,
and they ISOed the inside backer and double team the defensive tackle.
You might play it the first eight times, but the 9th, 10th, 11th, fall, 15, 18, 20, 21, 22.
You're going to start kind of taking the knee quick or stepping out of the way a little bit.
Moose Johnson, I mean, they should, Jimmy should be locked up for, you know, jamming Moose's neck down by his waist.
I mean, he ran more lead, Joe Rose.
He's got to send our phone booth.
And Moose is doing a great job in the NFL too.
He's great.
He's a smart guy.
Yeah.
I mean, the Eagles, you know, they're built for the run, like you said, but that's a really
tough second half of the season. They also have to go to Seattle as well, week 15, I think it is.
So, you know, there's a lot of games here that I'm excited about, you know, the Chargers at
Pats, you know, like Chargers beating the Pats has proved hard for Justin Herbert. Like, can,
how big of a step has he taken? Can they figure it out on the field? That would be a really good
Barometer.
Whether or not they're in it at the end of the season.
New coordinator in Dallas.
Had to happen.
What's that going to look like?
What's going to look like for the Chargers?
Yeah.
You're missing the most important game.
What's that?
The Super Bowl.
Yeah.
Because it's in Vegas.
And I'm just interested.
What are those tickets?
Yeah, I'm interested in a lot of stuff.
I bet you are.
Well, mainly for me is all these rules and guys getting suspended for betting or
being associated with casinos or whatever it may be.
I don't understand how you're going to run a Super Bowl there.
It's a nightmare for the NFL.
It's going to, like, for players, like, I can just imagine how many players you're out there for a full week, party in.
If you slip up and accept and be on the wrong flyer for a party or things, anything, like anything.
Place a bet on another sport in the parking lot of the win.
Think about how many guys, appearance deals.
You don't understand.
Someone might book you here.
Oh, they're going to give you 50K to show up here.
And then you find out, oh, it's from this betting company.
And someone finds out.
So it's going to be real, really interesting.
Luckily, we don't have to worry about that because we're washed up.
We can do whatever we want.
Whatever we want.
And we will be there.
Unlike the, you know, listen, the A's are going there now.
Yeah.
I mean, it's hockey.
It's baseball.
It's football.
Basketball soon going to follow.
The advantage that a team has that's living there.
And, you know, there are facilities in Henderson.
And like the majority.
of the population around Vegas,
they really don't go to down.
Yeah, yeah.
You know, so I think that's going to be a big challenge,
and I think the teams are going to have to do a really,
really, really good job.
Education.
Yeah, letting each play.
Look, it's kind of like you say you have a problem.
Like, I remember our 81 team that won the Super Bowl,
I came in in 81 later that year as a rookie,
and, you know, that team went off the rails.
and, you know, we guys would disappear for two days at a time.
And Terry Robisky's first job was to get people, you know, to practice and keep people, you know, from getting arrested or whatever.
Disappearing.
Yeah, disappearing.
And I don't care how many people you have to hire that week or, you know, bring people into the building to make the point that that very thing can't happen.
Man, you remember I told this story sometimes when Amad Brooks told me during practice, he was like, and Amad Brooks was all world. He was like the best football player I had ever seen. And Al Groh, who loves Lawrence Taylor, was kind of like, this is Lawrence Taylor reborn, dude. And one time it was cold. We were getting ready to play like tack late in the season or something. And Ahmad's like, I got to piss. And we're like, go piss. And so he runs off the field to go take a leak. And we don't see him for five days.
And I can, I'll never forget Coach Groh's meeting with us like a day later.
And everybody's like wondering where he went.
And Al's like, guys, I just wanted to update you on the Amad situation.
Essentially, he has retreated to his cave.
So we don't know.
So we don't know when he's coming out.
So you know, that's like, that's like, that's like, that's like,
because it was Lawrence Taylor to him.
So understanding.
You know, it's like, that's like, did.
Jimmy Johnson meeting where, you know, some guy falls asleep in the special teams meeting
and, you know, the lights go on and the guy still sleep and, you know, Jimmy, get up and, you know,
get your shit, you're out of here, you know. Jimmy cut people on planes on the way to London.
My family's already on their way, though, you know. It doesn't matter. But if it's Troy Aitman,
you get him a cup of coffee and you wake him up. Exactly. You know, that's that deal.
Yep, yeah. That's that deal. Is retreated?
His game.
You know, we have a philosophy, policies, rules, but sometimes for certain people,
not everybody's treated the same.
Not everyone's treated the same way.
Rightfully in some situation.
Chris knows that.
Yeah, yeah, exactly.
Chris never had to wear his socks high.
Oh, because I didn't wear my, that was the one thing I got away with.
That was Coach Gross thing.
He had the NFL sock rule.
Yeah, like you know.
Everyone had to wear their socks up.
I never wore my socks down.
And got up.
Yeah.
I never wore my.
It's a weird feeling.
If I could have wore them down in games, I would have.
Oh, senior year was the only time I was able to do it.
You get to the NFL and honestly you feel faster in high socks.

Okay, so that's the schedule
and a lot of other BS. We wanted
to finish the podcast, Ed,
by doing a all-time flat-top
draft.
Oh,
God.
Yeah.
Did you read that in the show notes?
I tried to think of, you know,
Johnny Unitas.
Oh,
don't give your board up.
Okay.
You can't give you draft board up because you actually have to draft these people.
All right.
And some of them might be on my board.
You know?
Well,
you probably have a board.
I don't have a board.
I have a small board.
Okay.
And you're not on it because I can't pick my dad.
That'd be,
you know,
nepotism.
Yeah.
You know,
I don't want you to be a nepo,
baby.
No, it's not a flat top now.
It's a brushback.
It looks like I got the first pick.
Oh, you do?
Yeah, we got Nate, then Howie, then Chris.
Okay, we're doing four rounds.
Four rounds.
Four rounds.
And I can't, obviously, first pick, first round.
I got to go with Howie Long.
Yeah.
Okay, so you pick the guy in the...
And we talked about this, and maybe you can give some insight on this.
This is a weird, interesting fact that I think is very interesting about you,
that I either read or saw somewhere that you're the only sports person that was immortalized,
like an M&M figure.
I don't know that.
It's true.
I think it's true.
And they put like a flat top on an M&M and I don't know if it was in an ad.
I got a Lego.
See?
You and Jimmy.
You and Jimmy.
You're one or two.
Yeah.
I've got a Lego thing.
As a matter of fact, you have it in the kids' playroom.
Yeah.
He's got a, there's a Lego thing of his head.
He's got like basically my dad's head sitting up on the top of the...
I got the perfect first pick.
Yeah, Howie Long.
That's funny.
Good for you.
I'll go Johnny Unitas.
Fuck.
Nice pick.
Okay.
I have...
I watched the NFL top 100 players of all time.
I don't think I've ever seen Bill Belichick as excited about anything as talking about Johnny
Unitas.
I wonder why that is.
grew up a cold.
Oh, because balls more.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's funny.
Okay.
I got Wesley Snipes and Blades.
Because I know that was on your fucking big board.
No, no, no, no, no.
Oh, I don't know this went to movies.
It could be anybody.
Anything.
Think about some of the look books that you look at at the barbershop.
I think of some of those old movies you look.
Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
Now it's Nate's pick.
It's a snake draft.
If it's snake, it's you.
I don't know if you can pull the picture up.
We shouldn't snake.
Not enough four.
Yeah, not in the four.
Okay.
Because you did that.
No, I'm going to go.
I'm going to keep it.
I'm going to keep it organic for me.
And I'm going with Gaiyel Street Fighter.
Okay.
Yeah, that's pretty good one.
Gile?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Gile the Street Fighter?
You remember the video game Street Fighter?
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, I was going to say.
Golly.
What was the movie?
movie.
They landed in the pyramid and he's,
he was snake Pliskin.
Are you thinking of Kurt Russell?
Kurt Russell.
Kurt Russell in,
escape from New York is it?
Yeah, but not an escape from New York.
He picked like a much lesser well-down movie.
I love it.
Great flat top, though.
Jimmy Johnson at Arkansas.
Yeah, Kurt Russell is a great pick.
Oh, nice.
Kurt Russell is a great pick.
Yeah, that's a great pick.
Yeah, he's got, he had a great flat top.
Okay, who's up next?
Who do you?
Oh, me?
Chris Mullen.
Not just, not just a white guy.
He was a walking bucket in the NBA,
but a fucking guy with a military hair set.
He's a whitest white guy.
Yeah, yeah, he is.
Just, just, just a walking bucket with a flat time.
He's Irish white.
Yeah.
Oh, man.
Great St. John's player.
Okay.
Third pick I'm going with
Zach, the Black Ranger from Power Rangers.
Okay.
He had a flat top.
Okay.
So, I got to represent.
Okay, Zach, black.
I never saw him without his.
You got to watch you.
You didn't watch the show.
Yeah, well, I never, yeah.
Okay, yeah, he did have a good flat top.
You're right.
All right.
Howie, back to you.
Okay, I'm going to go, this is probably going to be a surprise.
I'm going to go with the flat top mullet.
Brian Bosworth.
Oh, shit.
Love it.
Yeah, that's a good call.
Yeah.
It's a good call.
Hard to pull that off.
Okay.
Am I up?
He actually sold, did you know this?
He sold t-shirts at opposing stadiums.
He was way ahead of the curve.
I heard this.
Yeah, he was a great marketing guy.
No, boss, hate bars.
And he's so smart.
I love that.
Bought the T-shirt.
Yes.
Was putting money at his pocket.
Surprised he didn't become a pro wrestler.
Yeah.
That would have been the easiest pro wrestler.
His sons or his uncle.
How would you feel about Kyle becoming a pro wrestler?
He's too beat up.
Yeah.
Too beat up.
Yeah.
If you have steroids, though.
If you have plates.
We pump him full of steroids.
Yeah, like he needs that.
Yeah.
When you step back and you look, it's like,
I'm watching him running from first base.
I'm like, geez.
Yeah.
Okay.
You got down there for that pickoff play, though.
Yeah, it was good.
It's good.
Yeah, he can still bend.
You say he's too beat up.
I'm like, I wish I felt like that.
No, you look good running around.
Yeah.
That triple was you were legging it out.
Yeah, well, I did legs earlier, so I could have been even faster, but, you know, that's neither here nor there.
Am I up?
Yes.
Yeah.
Okay.
I'm going to go with Charles Oakley and his flat top in the 90s.
Nice.
Yeah.
Yeah.
A little nod to the next.
Okay.
Yeah.
And my big board is, is empty.
Oh.
No, it's not.
No, I got a few more.
But my last pick, and I'm going to follow up off of you, is Wesley Snipes in demolition.
You can't.
You can't do that.
Why not?
You can't take Wesley Snipes from me.
Wesley Snipes is off the board.
Wesley.
He said a specific movie.
I understand, but I'm just hard.
Okay.
And maybe his, maybe you can say his best.
Best flat top was in demolition man.
I'm going to go.
Blade, there was some pizzazz on that thing.
Listen, I'm going to go with Big Daddy Kane then.
Okay.
He had a flat top.
Let's see.
Big Daddy Kane.
No, no, no, that's for Nate.
Yeah.
So, so far, you haven't picked any actual white people.
Because Giles not a real person.
Your list is kind of racist.
Howie Long is my first one?
Oh, yeah, you're right.
arguable
Yeah
You didn't hear my nicknaves at the radio
Mighty Whitey
Yeah
Mighty Whitey
That's what they called it Mighty Whitey
Yeah
Because he was like the only white guy
That could do cool stuff
Physically
That is so funny
Yeah
That's like a superhero name
That's kind of cool
Mighty Whitey
I'm at my up
Yeah
I'm gonna go with Jimmy Johnson
at Arkansas. Oh, nice.
Now that's the kind of pick that wins a draft.
You pull up the picture.
It's a pretty tight flat top.
Okay.
Is it me?
It is.
Okay, it's me.
I think I'm going to go with...
There he is. Top left.
Top left.
Top left. Right there.
Oh, yeah.
What position he played?
Was he center?
East. I think he was...
Card?
He was like a...
Nosed.
tackle or something.
He said he was hell on wheels.
We get better as, you know,
years go by.
Now, Mike Dickett could have been a cop.
Like, I'm looking at some of these old pictures.
No quite.
Good back. Like, like, uh,
no question.
I think I'm going to go with Mike Dicka.
Half that Bears team had flat tops.
Yeah, I'm going to go with Mike Dicka.
So I got Wesley Snipes and Blake,
Chris Mullin, Charles Oakley, and Mike Dicka.
Mike Dicker with a nice pair of aviator?
Yeah, dude.
Reflectors.
I'm slowing down in traffic.
Like, he's in a, I figure he's in an unmarked car.
In a car or on a motorcycle.
Yeah, either one.
I'm slowing down.
I'm getting over to the shoulder.
Okay, so that concludes the draft, or do we have any more picks?
That concludes it.
So Nate selected Howie Long, Gile from Street Fighter, Zach the Black Power Ranger, Big Daddy Kane.
I take it back.
He did draft a white guy.
Howie, Big Howie got Johnny Unitas, Kurt Russell, Brian Bosworth, and Jimmy Johnson in Arkansas.
pretty good draft, Dad.
You're pretty good at this.
And then I had Wesley Snipes in Blade or any movie.
Chris Mullen, Charles Oakley, Mike Dicca.
The Mike Ditka pick was, yeah.
Yeah, you pulled that one out.
Yeah, Mike Dicke.
Mike Dicca had a great flat top.
It was a different class of flat top than yours.
I'll tell you, they were high and tight then.
No, but I came old about a month ago from the barber up by the airport.
And mom said, dude, there's a barber shop.
It's a little bit tight.
That's the barbershop that I bring my kids.
You walk in there.
I told you I was a barbershop out of here.
You tell you that.
You tell them, you tell them you want a certain type of haircut.
Doesn't matter.
You're getting the, hey, the bus for Vietnam leaves in five minutes.
My kids, they're getting ready to get shipped off.
Dude, it's crazy.
Luke, he has, like, blonde hair.
And it's so tight, you can see the back of his head.
I mean, like, I didn't tell you this.
But a couple days ago, Whalen had come home from practice.
And me, Whalen, and Luke were playing basketball.
And I decided, because I kind of wanted to get a workout in, that I was going to run them.
So I started running them.
We were doing like gassers and stuff and we were in around the driveway.
Is it too early?
I mean, Luke's four.
He likes doing it.
Oh, Luke will run.
Yeah.
Hey, if you open up the glass walkway doors at our house and you go from the kitchen door to the gym door, it's 60 yards.
Yeah, yeah.
And Luke runs.
Luke can run all day.
Yeah, he's good running.
And he's bouncing.
You know, he's like, you know, really fast people that are like their feet aren't on the ground.
A lot of time.
It's bang, bang, bang, bang.
Like a lizard that runs on the water.
Now, whalen is a totally different bird.
I watched him over there warming up the other day.
He does not want any part of warming up.
No, he don't like warm ups.
But then I saw him, he catches a ball in the infield.
he, I think he was on
the pitchers now maybe or behind the pitcher
and he runs over to first base.
Yeah, he rang pretty fast.
They're like, damn!
He runs when you need to run.
So I said to him, I said, you know, the one thing I always told
you dad, and I told Kyle and how he was
anytime you have an opportunity to show somebody
you can run, run.
You ran to first base.
Those warmups.
And he knew exactly what I was talking about.
Yeah.
He can run.
When he wants to run, he can run.
Yeah.
I don't think it's too early, though, because they were having fun.
As long as they're having fun.
Exactly.
Yeah.
All they want to do, and they come over the house, they want to go out and shoot hoops.
Yeah.
Then we put the lights on on the basketball court.
They were just, wow.
Yeah.
Yeah.
What is it like to be a kid?
They love getting babysat by Grandma and Papa.
So appreciate the time, big guy.
Yeah.
Yeah.
A lot of fun.
And, you know, like I said, dad, he, he, he, uh,
He volunteered coming in today because I was like,
I heard you guys were hot.
I was like, man, I don't fucking know.
You're desperate.
You got nobody.
I said, I'm here if you need.
So if you people at home want the bullpen,
just tap your right arm in the mentions.
And we'll get the big right hand right.
Yeah, exactly.
Exactly.
Thanks.
Mighty whitey.
Mighty whitey.
Hey, it's mighty whitey.
I think Jerry Robinson gave me that.
Yeah.
Just go sit over there.
We'll call your name when.
Take care.
