Starting point is 00:00:00 My dad was a rookie, and your dad was a little older than my dad, and he remembers there was an interception, and my dad was running to make the tackle. And your dad ran right past my dad and screamed boo, and my dad was a rookie. Thinking like, you know, getting super scared. Give him kudos if you had this quick thing on his feet, but he said, ooh, is it Halloween? I was like, there's no way. My dad actually said that, but that's what a slick rookie, man.
Starting point is 00:00:27 Yeah. Not because they hated each other. The Chiefs and the Raiders hated each other. other. They had all these big fights and stuff. Always. Welcome to the Greenlight podcast. Thanks for jumping in today. We have a fun and packed wild show. It's Macon. It's Kyle. It's Dr. Fax, Bad Back Backy in studio. We're hitting a slew of topics. We're going to give you a hello, a little layup line roulette. Then we're going to talk about the U.S. Olympic basketball team,
Starting point is 00:00:56 what obscure sports should be in the Olympics. The next go around, some fun things, you know, like balloons, barrel racing, Ultimate Frisbee. The cool thing. And then we also talk best athlete tweets of all time on the heels of Blake Griffin's retirement. His Casey Anthony tweet is up there. Joe Alt joins Chris and Kyle, the former Notre Dame offensive tackle. And son of former NFL or John Alt talks playing for Notre Dame, his NFL draft prep, the combine, which team he might get picked up on. And tells a great Howie Long and John Alt's story from back in the day in the NFL. To finish things off, more draft talk, it's Bow and Macon.
Starting point is 00:01:31 They're going to preview the DBs and wide receiver. class this season. Which players are going to go top of their position? Which players are going to be great value if you get them a little later. We talk all that. We have a great time. A nice show for you today. Make sure to come back Tuesday for some more draft talk with Daniel Jeremiah. We will catch you then. Much love. All right. Listen up. Time of tape. Let's see if we can do this even better the second time. We just recorded about seven minutes of an open without the recording part of it. There was a technical difficulty. I'm not saying who was responsible.
Starting point is 00:02:36 Someone caught it. It was a good thing that somebody caught. It was a really good thing that somebody caught. Chris is not here. Sealand currently in a day-long board meeting. That's B-O-R-E-D. I get it this time. You know, with the length of this meeting,
Starting point is 00:02:55 it seems like Chris might be actually saving the entire population of Earth now. What a... What a total grown-up, huh? So instead, in studio, we have Kyle Long, Dr. Fax, Coach Badke, Cowboy Reid is here, so is Kingston. Kyle's father-in-law is in the studio. Dave is in the corner-looking spry, and the Silver Fox is making a celebrity appearance,
Starting point is 00:03:22 a surprise celebrity appearance, so thank you, Dave. You will hear from C-Long in a bit. Chris and Kyle talk to Joe Alt, Offensive Tackle, Notre Dame. Huge guy, huge success of an interview. I loved having Joe Alt on a legacy NFL offensive lineman, first rounder. His daddy was a first rounder alignment and a chief. So our dad's had some crossover there, and you'll hear some stories on the pod.
Starting point is 00:03:48 But he was a great guest, and he wants to come on again. So that's really nice. He will. My new friend. He follows me on Instagram, so we're official. That's tight. He'll hear his name called Early Next. Thursday, as will a bunch of
Starting point is 00:04:03 wide receivers. Where are we on Marv, Rome, and Malik? I don't even think about Marv. I don't think about Marv. He's a easy one. No, I just think about Rome. Rome and Malique? You know, we could get Rome in one day. We could get Caleb and Rome in one day. Bo Allen and I talk receivers
Starting point is 00:04:21 and DBs at the end of this show. But for now, it's the four of us. We'll do a little round robin. First up, Sacktown. Hello! The Kings dispatched of the Golden State Warriors and their dynasty on Tuesday night
Starting point is 00:04:37 will head to New Orleans Friday night to face the Zionless New Orleans. So this is the playoffs right now? This is the play-in to the playoffs. Okay, got it. This will be for the eight seed. That's big, and the warriors, they're out. They're out.
Starting point is 00:04:52 You know what? Clay Thompson. We're out with a bang. You know what? They've got a lot of pods to do, I'm sure. Olfer. Yeah. Ofer.
Starting point is 00:04:59 Yeah. Tough one to swallow. What? The Warriors got to within three or four at halftime, but then it was... Is this a roster issue, or is this a Steve Kerr issue? It's a Clay Thompson. They got old issue. Got it. I mean, Clay's like 34, but now, yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:15 So is Travis Kelsey. Officially washed, I'm afraid. All right. So long. For the Washington State. Good run. Hey, we're going to do a layup line. Everybody comes with one song and then Cowboy Reed.
Starting point is 00:05:29 if indeed this is being recorded will select the best one. I'll nominate a few good stories. It's by Kenny Chesney. First line of that bad boy is I'm going to put a million miles on these cowboy boots. Dang. Cowboy. That's from the new album which I think is called
Starting point is 00:05:51 Born. B-O-R-N. Born B-O-R-N. My My layup line, because I just found out that the NBA playoffs are going on, is going to be the serious by the Alan Parsons. Nice! Which is the Chicago Bulls entrance theme. Eckhart.
Starting point is 00:06:09 I mean, you can listen to it. At any serious juncture in your life, if there's a decision that we've made, if there's a feat that needs to be herbal or tackled, listen to this song. Picture MJ and the boys getting ready to run out of comedy. I think it's crazy that we don't hear that more. It really is just Bull's intro. That's it. And it should be.
Starting point is 00:06:30 You know why we don't hear it very often is because it's reserved for that level of greatness, and we all have that level of greatness inside of us, so if you want to channel that. But Alan Parsons probably sitting around being like, hey guys, there are other applications. That first one is just, it's just a project, you know? All right, facts. So my layup line is going to, since we'll probably never hear a song by these two again, since they are currently beefing right now. It goes to Rick Ross and Drake,
Starting point is 00:07:02 and I'm going to pick Stay Scheming. We'll probably never get this combo again because they're right now currently... What's the beef? So supposedly, this song is one of the songs that got Drake kind of very popular, and Rick Ross at the time in French Montana kind of offered to put him on this song,
Starting point is 00:07:27 and now Drake supposedly sent the cease and desist to Rick Ross and French Montana for them trying to use something in a song, and they feel slighted because they kind of helped him get the start-up. It's kind of a scratch our back, we scratch yours type deal, and Drake isn't playing the right. And also it's a situation where they have each other's number, and it's like, why don't you call me and tell me instead of just sending this in? These guys all benefit from the beef, though,
Starting point is 00:07:53 because now they're all even more relevant. And so I think part of the deal is you understand that you're going to be involved with this beef. It's kind of like wrestling. Like the rock is going to come out and say some dumb shit to me, and I can't lose my cool because I know that Numbies are getting pumped when they come out and say some day. And when Rick Ross is standing beneath a couple of giant palm trees
Starting point is 00:08:10 saying, you know, you're in a cargo plane. Aubrey, Aubrey, you're not safe. Those were meant for packages, not people. Check your seals. All right, all right, enough. I got no beefs with this band. This band's got no. beefs, all right. Coming from
Starting point is 00:08:26 Buffalo, New York. Okay. They don't get the respect that they should. Goo Goo Goo Dolls. Slide. Oh. Gotta let it slide. Coming to a small town this summer, most likely near you. That, uh,
Starting point is 00:08:42 the Google Bull. I flew into Minneapolis for the 2019 Final Four and somehow directly into a Goo Goo Dolls concert, slide. There's, and there are two more. Iris. Iris.
Starting point is 00:08:57 And there's a third. Name. Three, right at the, there's three bangers at the end. No, I think Iris is Iris. And name is name. Maybe. The name of the band? Goo Goo Doll.
Starting point is 00:09:06 Oh, man. Like the website? Which website? He's thinking of Go Daddy? He's thinking of Go Daddy. This one right here is one of the all. I mean, this is just the 90s, right? It's the 90s.
Starting point is 00:09:24 the 90s. Late 90s. Outstanding. So if we were going to do this as a play-in, Macon over Bagkey, I'm sorry. I just don't know enough about the Google dolls. Wow. That's your problem.
Starting point is 00:09:40 And we've got Cowboy in a line. Yeah, the first line. Sorry, Nate, but I'm Alan Parsons Project. So Alan Parsons Project versus Borgne. The album was born. I feel like I never had a chance. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:09:54 Honestly. Honestly. And the way everyone's laughing, it kind of confirms it. It's crazy. It's because you didn't choose Lord knows. It's because you didn't choose Lord knows by Drake and Rose. Yeah. That's the goaded.
Starting point is 00:10:08 The problem was- The problem was you chose Drake. If we had gone a different direction, we'd be okay. I think the Drake and Rick Ross. Beef is awesome. Anyway, we've got a final between the Allen Parsons Project and Kenny Chesney. and I think the Alan Parsons project
Starting point is 00:10:26 has been picked on this show before. We are going Kenny Chesley. Wow. Wow. Sleeper. That's told you that before. Damn. It's been a minute.
Starting point is 00:10:34 I've only picked Kenny to get it out of the way because I knew it wouldn't be so much. Well, wow. Surprise, surprise. It's been a minute since we picked one of yours. Well, and some redemption for Kenny, who was ridiculed on this show. He is slighting often on this show.
Starting point is 00:10:47 A few weeks ago. As is his genre. A little bit weird. Is that a play on words, coach? A little bit. Nice. I wish I knew some Kenny Chesney songs. How about she thinks my tractor sexy?
Starting point is 00:10:59 Bare feet on the dash. Back where I come from, facts? That's a good one. I'm definitely not going to know everybody by you saying it. Like maybe if I heard it, you'll be like, you said, you know. Hey, hold on. Does he got a beef with anybody? I feel like I can sing some songs that I don't know who sings them.
Starting point is 00:11:16 I have a chance, but if you're just saying out names of songs, there's no way. Like, I would be able to be like, oh, yeah, I know that one. No. Like, it's just like. Well, now you're lying. I'm just saying, it's honestly like, where, okay, like, where would I hear this? Where did you hear it? On the radio.
Starting point is 00:11:36 Like, where, like, what, like, what baseball game? What radio station, what baseball game? 997. UBA's baseball game? Like, honestly. This is WCYK, hot 997. Here's a new hit from Kenny Chesney. She thinks my tractors sex.
Starting point is 00:11:54 This is. This is country music, right? This is country music. So I don't really listen to country stations. It's pop country. Nate, you are on a river on opening day. I don't want to hear about you don't like country. Anyway, our layup line today is.
Starting point is 00:12:09 A few good stories by Kenny Chesney. All right, Dr. Fax, you're up first on our little round table of topics here. What do we have? First topic. What non-football sporting events should the green light travel to? And the first thing I'm going to nominate, I think we, We absolutely, I don't know, this isn't really a sporting event, but we need to go to the rodeo. That's a sporting event?
Starting point is 00:12:32 These are athletes. Absolutely. It is. Okay. The PBR tour is one of the most, like, physically impressive places to go. Like, if you go watch these guys. Life or death. I want to go see it.
Starting point is 00:12:44 First off, the gals are all built like brick shithouses, dude. They're built like they just stepped off of a D1, like, lacrosse weight program. And then the dudes, it's like, I don't even want to. want to bring my wife to a rodeo. Me and my girl went to the championship in Vegas, the PBR championship in Vegas. It would be a lot of fun. Like a year or two ago, and it's a lot of fun.
Starting point is 00:13:06 And there's big, big money on all these owners of all the livestock stuff. You know what else is big? It's like a star-studded event. You know what else is big? Some of those bulls. No shit. Bro, ginormous.
Starting point is 00:13:20 And me and my girl, we had close seats. And if I went again, I probably wouldn't try to sit too close because you quickly see when they start doing the bull riding competition that realistically those bulls can probably jump and get into the first couple of rows like for sure for sure they might not get fully over but like they can get and get stuck and you can be in a lot of days many a spaniard been stuck but those guys who ride that bull that eight seconds is absolutely nuts doctor have you heard of mutton busting so so listen i am praying that my daughter will at some point in her lifetime be able to compete.
Starting point is 00:14:03 And if not compete, do very well in a mutton bust. How do you say to get? Mutton busting. Mutton busting competition where small children hold on to a very fluffy sheep. And it kind of mimics the bull riding. They wear hockey helmets and they tie them. I have to look through my phone at a rodeo I went to a little kid stayed on one of the sheep and the people of the event had to chase him around.
Starting point is 00:14:37 That's how long he stayed on. And I've never seen a crowd do a standing ovation for this kid when he got off. He got off and he pumped his fist so hard like he just won a competition and it was super cool. And hopefully at some point, I hope my daughter is like cool with animals. So, Macon, have you ever heard of Indian River Trail rides? It's an Albemarle County-based company, and it's Ashton Bibi is the guy's name. Okay.
Starting point is 00:15:05 The son is like the champion mutton buster. Wow. And I went to the Orange County rodeo last year. As did I, six or seven years ago. One of the most beautiful scenes for a rodeo, and apparently it's part of the trail where Jefferson used to ride on horseback from Montichica. Mr. Jefferson, yeah. Mr. Jefferson.
Starting point is 00:15:22 and I know Chris is out of studio so we can talk about DJ for like three minutes. Super cool, historically speaking, and also just like you take a look around and makes you proud to be from Virginia when you see all these fine folks out there with a lot of pride about putting on a show and to your point, Nate, it's fucking awesome.
Starting point is 00:15:40 It's a spectacle. When the kids go out there and they get the standing ovation, that's really the finale of this firework show. I wish I knew her name, but there's actually a 13-year-old or a younger black girl that is right now, like, running up the ranks for a lot of the events on the horse, like the speed and things like that.
Starting point is 00:15:59 There's actually, like, a black rodeo that is... Sir Rider Williams. That is based out of Texas. I'm just kidding, bro. Yeah. You're crazy. But, no, it's definitely cool events. And just like you said, too, just the animal aspect of it, too.
Starting point is 00:16:19 Like, if you sit and watch, it's kind of... interesting seeing like how like nice these animals are kept up for these events and the the I don't know what the the when they're trying to hog tie yeah from a barrel racing and all that kind of stuff and all that it's kind of cool sometimes to root for the animals too to not to not get caught yep so what do they call that when they're going after the the little the little steers like just roping I guess yeah lasso yeah all right I went with more of a traditional event, Cowles World Series. Jump in the RV. We go to the, basically we're bringing the RV home back to Omaha.
Starting point is 00:17:02 I think that's where most of RVs are. Got it. So, you know, let the RV come home for a little bit. Jellow shots, right? Jellos shots, and the big LSU was big on that one. But wow, Omaha really does a great job, opens its arms to you, and what a great event. And it's like 10 days long. I could have never guessed what you were going to pick based on what you wore today.
Starting point is 00:17:23 You know what? I didn't even mean for that to happen. Look at it. That's the problem, though, with the event. It's perfect except for it being two weeks long. Like if your team wins, you're re-upping the hotel room every day for another day. You're re-mortgage in the house. Yeah, calling back home like, hey, it's going to be another few days.
Starting point is 00:17:40 I had to leave early one year. Virginia was there to get engaged. Yeah, see? Yeah. So. Did they win it that year? They lost the van. look at that the next year i was there anyone yeah all right i'll see uh mutton busting in college baseball
Starting point is 00:17:58 and raise you guys the masters now hear me out yeah i have tried to zag on the masters at several junctures and what keeps me coming back though i've never been watching or trying to go going is the taking of the cell phone oh yeah which is just universally praised people say for the first 10 It's awful. Like you're looking for it. You feel obviously totally out of touch. People need to get me. They can't get me.
Starting point is 00:18:28 And then it's the best day of your entire life. And you don't want to go retrieve the cell phone at the end of the day. I would, though we're capable of having that experience, you know, leave your phone at home, for instance. We don't and we won't. And I'd like to do that. That's a good way to look at it. Do you think they would take my Apple watch? I think so.
Starting point is 00:18:47 I think so. It's a good question. You have to get a. you can re-skin your Apple watch, maybe you can outsmart the folks at the Masters. I bet you would be able to, I bet you could get it through the gate, but because there's probably a distance you're away from your phone, right?
Starting point is 00:19:00 Or it can program to get. Just stick it in your dreads like you do with your weed. Exactly. My phone can die. Why you're not parking them out? But if his watch can ring, I bet they take it from them. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:13 But to make its point, I think it's to not have it. No, yeah, yeah. You know. And that's got to be the best feeling. You're at the Masters. if someone's trying to get a hold of you, you're like, well, I have the best of excuses.
Starting point is 00:19:25 It's funny that the masters and comedy events are like the only places that I feel like I know that they like successfully take people's phones and people still go and they're like, okay, you could do this. Whereas, diddy parties. Not as fun. He wants all the rights on all. He's the only one that can record at his parties. Yeah, we got cameras in these trees, motherfucker.
Starting point is 00:19:49 You can't. but you cannot take any calls or message from it. If the official finds you are done. Okay. You got to disable your app. It's like shaping on a plane. You can have it, but you can't use it. If we catch you.
Starting point is 00:20:02 You know what we do. Those officials are the master, they don't mess around. There was a video of a guy you're not supposed to run to the whole. I saw that. This dude's doing a quick little shuffle, and he was found 30 seconds later.
Starting point is 00:20:14 Banned for life. Ban for life. One foot's got to be on the ground at all times. Yeah. A lot of hip. What if it's like, the Olympic walking. You can walk
Starting point is 00:20:24 quickly, you cannot run. Okay, so there's two that I'm kind of torn between. Both will take us off American soil. One of which will be the Monaco Grand Prix, which is Monte Carlo, which is a very small tax haven
Starting point is 00:20:42 in Europe that is essentially like European Dubai in terms of the amount of wealth that's there. and the experiences, the people you're going to brush shoulders with, the sights you're going to see, the sounds of the cars, the history that's one of the most storied venues in racing. And I don't know how long it's going to be around
Starting point is 00:21:04 because people can't pass there. It's such a tight track, and the cars have gotten so much bigger. I don't know how long they're going to race there. About two miles. I think. The length of the track. We got that. I don't know how long they're going to race there,
Starting point is 00:21:19 so it's something that we should do. And I mean, we have the means to do it. And it's one of those things that's going to be by the wayside soon historically. And the other one that is not going to go anywhere is the Baja 1000, which is the biggest, baddest, off-road race not named the Dakar rally in the world. And it's a 1,000-mile race on the Baja Peninsula. I believe you start at the top, you go down, and then you come back up in a different direction. So theoretically, when you're...
Starting point is 00:21:51 You can do it in the big trucks, you can do it in a VW bug, you can do it in a dirt bike, you can do it in a fucking... So we're participating. You can participate. We can hang out and Chris can participate. There are ways you can go down there and contract people out. It's such a big event that we could show up with a blank check. And tomorrow we could have all the equipment because they're there like in a rental capacity.
Starting point is 00:22:15 But I think going and hanging out, drinking, light in a bonfire, Watching the cars go by through the night would be awesome. Baja 1000. I'm getting like a Mad Max feeling. It's very mad Max. You want a Mad Max event. Swamp Fest. It's in Florida.
Starting point is 00:22:31 It is an absolute... Oh, it's so much... Is it near South Florida? It might actually be... It's Waldo, Florida. I don't know exactly where it is. But basically, it's a BMX event. You can go there.
Starting point is 00:22:43 It's dirt, it's mud, it's bikes, and it's ramps. And all you do is just go and send and they have... It looks like... Boobies and beer. It looks like a jackass scene. Oh, it's straight-ass scene. That's what it looks like. Waldo, Florida, top middle.
Starting point is 00:22:58 Top middle? Yeah. Like near Tala. Short flight. Gainesville, yeah. Short flight. Hello. I was thinking World Cup,
Starting point is 00:23:05 2026 in Philly. We got to make it there. World Cup would be really good. I heard somebody the other day and said that we can win. I don't know how many times. What's the, like, you know, if a country is hosting the World Cup, are they more likely to win the World Cup?
Starting point is 00:23:19 because I saw one of these crazy TikTokers say that like eight of the last nine teams that have hosted have won it. Most of the teams that hosted have a better chance than us. But it should be fun. They'll be all over the country, but Philly is hosting some games. Does Dave realize he doesn't have a mic? Doesn't matter. Okay.
Starting point is 00:23:39 So mine is going to be which events would you like to see added to the Olympics? Okay. It could be serious. It could be unsurious. Okay. I have a list, but I want you guys to just react initially. I got one. Dapping.
Starting point is 00:24:00 Okay. So there needs to be a constant, which would just have to be a cool individual, okay, who's coming up and given the same. I'll tap everybody. Yeah. Well. Not good. See?
Starting point is 00:24:11 And then. Sound. And then, I know. But then we have judges. Yeah. We have a panel of judges. And like we can have a bunch of different people. You have to dapp a teenager.
Starting point is 00:24:23 You have to dab a 75 year old. So let me ask you something. We got to run back around. These judges, what demographic are you going for these judges? They're probably 25 to 35 year old African American men. Okay. Does that work? I respect that.
Starting point is 00:24:40 I would say 21 to 35. Okay, got it. These youngsters, they know all the new. your technique. I don't want this in the Olympics, but as we're, you know, becoming 40-year-olds and going to cocktail parties and stuff, I can't, I don't know how to do the kiss on the cheek salutation. Awkward. So awkward. I get a tongue and it's just like, yeah. Going hard, dude, you got to go in hard. Going hard. All these, all these older season ladies, they're really good at the kiss on the cheek, hello. And then you have to try to, like, ear kiss them to like, like, be like, oh. My wife has an aunt
Starting point is 00:25:17 comes in hard and they all kind of and I just you got to go with it. At the mouth? Oh yeah. Holy so. Shameless. Yeah. I remember being.
Starting point is 00:25:28 She's Swedish. She's Swedish. Stop me when I get to something that tickles your fancy. I think that's a phrase right. Tickles your fancy. Video game competition for seniors. Yes. A diving comp, high dive competition for people that are over 300 pounds.
Starting point is 00:25:44 Go a belly flap. I can get in that. Diper chain. For Speed and Quality. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Toddler climbing competition.
Starting point is 00:25:54 They probably won't even know they're in the competition. Right. Like the baby crawl. Remember the show guts and they just made a mountain? Yeah. I do. I had to climb it. You know, make it a little younger than that, you know, guts.
Starting point is 00:26:05 You can call it Entrails if you want. Rocking a colicky baby to sleep for time. Good. Yep. Rocking a wife A colicky baby You know after the comicky baby Finally gets down being like
Starting point is 00:26:27 We're going to be okay Rocking a wife I'm saying emotionally You hear what I'm saying It's like you got to go to the baby first And then you got to be like Everything's going to be okay Your wife's dad is in the room
Starting point is 00:26:44 He knows what I mean Half the time Half the time I call Dave and say, do you have any tips? I just rocked your daughter. I'm not all the pacifiers. Hold on. I'm not done on my list.
Starting point is 00:27:01 How fast can you eat a pack of saltines without water? Okay. How long can you stay awake? That's pretty good. That's dangerous. Yeah. Let me stop you there. That tickles me.
Starting point is 00:27:14 Silent game. It could last and until an ex-Olympic. Ghost hunting. No, no good. Silent game, way better. Who can find the most ghosts? Okay.
Starting point is 00:27:30 All right. Let's get serious. How about... Who can't be a vape fastest? Throwing a food, say a peanut, high into the air and into your own mouth. That's good. Okay?
Starting point is 00:27:42 You know, times in a row, different heights. Yeah. A lot of different variations. Since I lost in this competition in Montana, and I realized this is a, it's a skill. It was a cherry pit spitting competition. And I watched the dude sit there and a cherry pit 35 feet.
Starting point is 00:28:06 Yeah. Like with no problem. 35 feet. I might be exaggerated, but I don't think I am. It was very, very far. I think it was 35 yards. It was, no, it was very, very far. So I think that.
Starting point is 00:28:19 And then I would steal some of the events from the great outdoor games, like tree climbing and like tree cutting. I think that's something that everywhere in the world, some of the Olympic deforestation. People have to cut trees down and saw. So there's probably someone who's better than a lot of other people in doing that. I would watch that on ESPN on like Saturday mornings before the real sports came on. Cooking competitions should be in it. Too objective. Pizza is like Iron Chef.
Starting point is 00:28:52 Too objective. You're right. Well, they do gymnastic routine. Are you looking for subjective? Okay. All right. Is that the word I was looking for? Yep.
Starting point is 00:29:00 So I'm going to go off the ESPN thing because I feel like they've been doing this for us for years. And have you seen the balloon game? Now, they need a better name for it. But it's basically a set of like a bedroom and you have to keep the balloon. up. And there's two guys that are trying to keep the balloon up and try to knock it down. That's good. I love that. I've seen that. Have you seen the tag? I was just tag on my list. It's crazy. Those guys are athletic. But I feel like that's finally something if you like do parkour, like you can level up and like do that. Like because if you do
Starting point is 00:29:36 barcour, it's just like what else do you do? But that tag thing, you get ass. If you get good at that and win some money for just fucking avoiding being tagged or being able to tag people, that's kind of lit. Well, how about Capture the Flag? We're doing kids games. Hey, we can do war without the war. But they kind of do that. Chill out on your war. We'll play Capture the Flag in the Olympics.
Starting point is 00:29:58 Or you take it up a notch, honestly. What you do is you get, you set up a Fortnite style paintball game and get teams. And like get from different countries, everything, and do it Fortnite style with either paintballs or like rubber bullets. that don't hurt so much. Non-lateful projectiles. I feel like if you televised that, I feel like that'll get a lot of views. I think at the end of the day,
Starting point is 00:30:26 I think the Olympics is great. I think winning a gold medal is the pinnacle of... Amazing. Unbelievable. You're the best in the world. But I do feel like when it's judged, it's got that little bit of like, eh.
Starting point is 00:30:38 So I like the things that, you know, are clear cut. Like what? Objective thing. What's missing? Like, right. Like, like, like, oh. A lot of the summer Olympics are racing. Basketball.
Starting point is 00:30:49 Like, you know who wins. Like, it's not judged. Yeah, but I'm saying, are there any examples that aren't in there that you would like to see? What do you mean? Oh, I got one. Rock paper, scissors. It's an even game. A lead and very clear cut.
Starting point is 00:31:05 I mean, the way we're going with the way we're going is the slap fest going to end up in the Olympics at some point. What about like hacking? Hackie sack? Oh, no, hacking. Oh, like that. Like a hack. But it's just like, yeah. Yeah, that's cool.
Starting point is 00:31:22 Coding, hacking. All right, speaking of Olympics, the roster came out for the NBA. What do we think? I think there's some names that were left off on it. What's their starting? No white guys. Where are we at? No white guys?
Starting point is 00:31:38 No white guys. No white guys. All right, Team USA. Talk about lack of representation. We lose. The Team USA roster is out of Bio Booker, Curry, Anthony, David, Durant, Anthony Edwards, and Bede, Halliburton, Drew Holliday,
Starting point is 00:31:50 LeBron, Kauai, and Jason Tatum. Starting five for me is easy. It's Anthony Edwards. Nate's not going to like this one. It's Jason Tatum. Okay, all right. It's Durant, Kawhi, and A.D. For me.
Starting point is 00:32:06 I just realized why there's no white guys because all the white guys are European. This is a nation base. I heard some scoffing at the end of my starting five there. I wanted to it was me who was scoffing, yeah. You're not you're not starting Embed, LeBron, or Curry?
Starting point is 00:32:25 That's right. I mean, Embed, if healthy, okay, also is he American? He came over here. I mean, I hate to say the quiet part out loud. I think he is dual. All right, he has options.
Starting point is 00:32:40 That's not why I left him off. Where's Winnie going to play? You nationalist. So like Mbby would be with him if he decided to go over there. And Bede was eligible to play with France, but chose to play with America as he has dual citizenship. Wow.
Starting point is 00:32:53 I would start him, LeBron, KD, Ant and Curry. Okay. And B is going to drop 40? LeBron? Wimby's going to drop 40 on it. Another topic, Nate. Now is it- Is it-Libran? If you had dual citizenship anywhere,
Starting point is 00:33:03 where would you want to have dual citizenship? England? In this country. Probably because I've been up there, Canada. There you go. That's a... I think all their countries just hand them out, though, don't they? Canada.
Starting point is 00:33:26 I don't know. Next pod, we'll talk about that. Another basketball topic. Blake Griffin retired. Blake of the year. Yeah. You know, six times, whatever it was. What a freak show.
Starting point is 00:33:34 But also, yeah, freak show, you know, on the court and also off the court with his, you know, Twitter fingers. Yep. Probably one of the wildest athlete tweets of all time where he admitted he had a score with his car and liken that to Casey Anthony. Do you have some of the best, what are your favorite athlete tweets of all time? Man, you know what? I played with Mitch Trubisky, and Mitch had one of the most chalk best tweets ever.
Starting point is 00:34:02 I love kissing tithes. That's right. And every time I see him, I remind him of his tweets. With like five S's on the end of the... Titty. Josh Allen had some really good ones. Driving naked is like greater. than everything.
Starting point is 00:34:20 And this was in 2013. I was a rookie in the NFL and Josh Allen was driving naked somewhere and wherever the fuck he's from. I love penis. Who's that? Josh Allen. Oh, wow. So these quarterbacks, they're polarizing.
Starting point is 00:34:37 And now they play together. So Mitch Trubisky, Josh Allen, they were on the bills together, Mitch left and now he's back. How about this from Josh Allen? Five tweets in a row. I'm horny. I'm so horny.
Starting point is 00:34:48 I'm horny. I'm horny. It's barely 920 and I'm hella horny. I'm horny. What year is this? 2012? Those are the Wyoming. This was the lead up to him driving around naked. Where was he in 2013? How old was he? He was probably 14, 15? With a Twitter account? Thank God we didn't have Twitter at 15. I nominate Terry Rozier. Osama should have hooped instead of trying to kill people because he tall as hell. Okay, that one's better than one's my name. Hall of Fame.
Starting point is 00:35:25 Just calling it how he sees it. Yeah. He's not wrong. Nate. I don't have any. I'm going with Cardell Jones. Now, he was a, I think he was a man before, what do I want to say, before his time? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:41 We're ahead. Why should we go to class if we came here to play football? Yeah. We ain't here to come to play school. Classes are pointless. Obviously, NIL was going on early on at Ohio State, and education was not of the important. Starting the effects of that free tattoo ink on. Starting?
Starting point is 00:36:03 Thank you. So one tweet I just want to add in there off the heels of the Dynasty documentary. Tennessee Titans cornerback Ryan Mountain tweeted this out afterwards or a couple years later. There was a hit on the sideline between him and Aaron Hernandez. Ryan Moten said, yeah, I'm going to hit you again. Aaron Hernandez said, I'm going to kill you. In the tweet, he said, little did I know. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:32 That's an all-timer. That it was possible? Yeah. All right. All right. I'll wrap up. Then we'll get to Joe Alt with some news of the day, which is as we tape Wednesday to 17th. John Tate Porter has been banned from the NBA.
Starting point is 00:36:50 This was the guy that, the eye? Yes, my eye hurts and then also I don't feel well. We got them. And then the under on his props were the biggest bet prop. Ever. Maybe not ever, but on that specific day. Ever work better. I want to read.
Starting point is 00:37:08 I want to read one paragraph of the most savage press release I have ever read. In addition, while traveling with the Raptors or Raptors 905, Porter placed at least 13 bets on NBA games using an associate's online betting account. These bets ranged in size from $15 to $22,000 for a total of $54,000. The total payout from these bets was $76,000, resulting in net winnings of $22,000. none of the bets involved any game in which Porter played. Three of the bets were multi-game parlay bets that included one Raptors game in which Porter bet that the Raptors would lose.
Starting point is 00:37:51 All three bets lost. The NBA did not need to include the sentence. All three bets lost. Is that not the most savage thing you have ever read in your life? Now, the question I have to pose is that Jontay's associate put it in 83, $80,000 parlay. That's what I was going to say. He needs a translator.
Starting point is 00:38:13 Was he a Japanese translator? Canadian translator. The associate put in an $80,000 parlay to win $1.1 million. Now, if you're the guy placing the bet, what are you saying you're kicking back to Jonte for making this happen? Now you figure it's $700,000 after taxes.
Starting point is 00:38:32 So you're saying the guy placing the bet, not named Jante Porter, what is he going to be cutting Jante in on because he's been such a big help or in this case. I think it's a 50-50 split. Yeah, it sounds good. I think Jontay gets 350 large, which is basically what he was making, playing for the Raptors. And then the other guy who, that's what Caitlin Clark's going to make. Who risks a lot over four years. Whoa, whoa, if he's smart. $350,000. That's what the number is. I'm not here to play emotions. I'm just playing back. Yeah, Jontay will make more than that playing in China next year. Correct. I was really kind of sad about this story. Gambling is an addiction. And then I realized, oh, oh, right,
Starting point is 00:39:08 make several hundred thousand dollars still playing basketball because he's 24 years old. But do you think that's the right 50-50? Hey man, we're going to make several, or we'll make 300 grand. Here's what I've learned. Here's what I've learned. You can never go 50-50. Someone always has to, you know, maybe it's 51, 49. But someone needs, you know, you got to have that that person that can make the final decision. John, you've got to have the other person's insoles. But I understand, I totally understand what you're saying. But I feel like, it's a It's almost a 60, 40. Okay.
Starting point is 00:39:40 For who? He's putting in the work. Jontay. Jontes gets to 60. Guy gets to 40. Okay. All right. I appreciate that he tried to even do it.
Starting point is 00:39:51 So, like, he's there. He tried. He got caught. Could have been smarter about it. But I appreciate it. But I think the issue is the fucking 80K to try to hit, like I feel like you put 80K because you want to hit that round number to hit a mill. And it's just like, that's just, it sounds stupid.
Starting point is 00:40:12 Like, unless you're on that app all the time winning a million dollars or putting in parlayes that are winning over half a million dollars, then maybe. But the fact that if you're going to cheat, you're just going to be like, I'm going to go big or go home. I think that, I think that was a dumb play. The associate needed to put in a few losers first, then only do it once and not. tell anybody. If you really, if you're, they get it all wrong. I think 80K was just too much. Nate, if you're an athlete, if, if I could tell these young athletes that want to gamble something, I would tell them this to be able to keep it kosher. Take shorter contracts. If you want to bet on yourself, take shorter contracts and play your ass off and get another contract
Starting point is 00:41:04 when the market resets. If you want to exponentially, gain these degenerates that are throwing games and trying to reach player props and betting on themselves, just go out there and play your game, take shorter contracts if you can, make that a priority with your agent and get paid sooner than these other motherfuckers. And don't do drugs. I mean, drugs can help sometimes. I heard Dale Earnhardt Jr. say beer and cigarettes helped him to be the best in his time. Thank you, fellas.
Starting point is 00:41:29 Enjoyable conversation. Good job. Here's Chris and Kyle with Joe Alt, Daniel Jeremiah, next week. Moving the sticks. Thanks for listening. Hey y'all, Green Light has official merch. Like this hat right here, like the one on my head, this dad hat. Love this hat.
Starting point is 00:41:51 I'm not even a dad hat guy, but this thing fits great. This hat right here fits great. We've got hoodies. We've got... By the way, this hoodie's like super comfy. I mean, it's like soft, plush. It's not the type of hoodie that's going to get stiff with one wash. And the shirts too, because I'm a big comfort guy, okay?
Starting point is 00:42:13 You got like this white shirt here. You got the shirt with the logo, the Abbey Road looking logo, with Dr. Fax smoking presumably a blunt, Kyle carrying Cowboy Reed, making driveling a basketball, which I've never seen him actually do, and me carrying a football. And then you've got the black shirt here too with the logo. So stickers, hit the link in the description in the video,
Starting point is 00:42:38 below the video actually and make sure to tag us on social media showing off your green light merch it's quality quality threads here okay wouldn't do it any other way so we got joe all the big dog from a huge dog a huge dog Kyle is excited about this interview yeah and joe how you doing man doing well I he's so chill right now for everything he has going on when do you think it gets nerve wracking or is it already nerve wracking you know I'm an anxious person by nature, but like the things like this, I'm really good about like, it's completely out of my control at this point. Like I've done all I can do.
Starting point is 00:43:20 I played my three years in Notre Dame, played the best of my ability, wouldn't put my best foot forward at the Combine. You know, I interviews at this point, you know, hopefully I did the best I can, but I can't really do anything more. So for me, it's just kind of sitting and waiting and waiting for next Thursday and then we'll kind of know and then we shift back into gear on, you know, what I got to learn. So through this, through these last few months, obviously the tape is the tape. kicked ass in the weight room and the classroom on the field.
Starting point is 00:43:44 And I know as a player, they find out more about you as a person at the combine. Was there anything that you look back on and you were a tad bit embarrassed about, like, an answer that you gave or an interaction that you had where you're like, that handshake didn't go well or that damp was terrible. How are your hands, man? Do we get a measurement on the hand? Was there anything you look back on and cringe that Joe Alt did at the combine? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:07 I won't name the team, but there was one interview where I sat in there. And it was towards the end of it, and it was the GM, he goes, so you're a goody two shoes, huh? Like, you got nothing going on? He goes, you ever been like any police trouble? I'm like, not really. He's like, you know, you haven't done anything? I'm like, no, I mean, I haven't done anything. And I was, he was like, oh, so you're when I'm goody two shoes, huh?
Starting point is 00:44:27 I'm like, when you want a criminal? You want me to say, I have a rap sheet? Yeah, I guess. I mean, I don't know what you're looking for. I can't really, you can't go dig out as much you want. He wanted to see how you were going to react. Yeah, I just walked out of that when I was like. like, have I done anything wrong?
Starting point is 00:44:43 Like, am I forgetting something? I don't think so. But that was like, do I need to go get arrested? Yeah. I had an O-line coach who kind of challenged me in one of those meetings. And I'm an anxious guy like you, but I'm also a huge guy like you. And I'm like, you want to fucking do this in this O-line room right now?
Starting point is 00:44:59 I'm like looking over his shoulder at the GM giving him the look. Like you want you to prove myself in this room? Yeah. So the combine awkward. Joe, pass, you failed. Yeah. Yeah. All right.
Starting point is 00:45:09 So Joe, I guess when you. talking about the combine all i know is i turned that thing on and i just saw this big white blur and i was like what is that did they clock that thing did they get a license plate on that bad boy and it's joe alt and he's running fast as hell and i'm wondering the first time you ran do you remember when that was and what people's faces around you look like yeah so i've been doing four ways my whole life because like my i was more like the training things i've done with my dad and like he was like you know who knows maybe at some point you get there so i've been running for you my whole time and like i really had no idea what i was going to run all throughout training i was
Starting point is 00:45:47 running like high five twos so i'm like all right you know if i dip into the five ones because like we were we were training hard like my legs were tired i was like if i get five ones i'm great and like no one else's times were showing up inside like in there it was only on the broadcast so i run the first one and i have no idea what i ran i'm walking back and all the guys are watching on their phone like we run a 5.07, I go, what? I ran out. What? Or whatever was 508 the first time? Like, there's no shot. So I instantly go out of my phone. I'm like texting my, my sprint coach and stuff. I'm like, so I just like, you know, shut it down. Am I good? Is that what we want? And he's like, no, you got one more. And I'm like, okay. So I had no ideas you run that fast. But I was,
Starting point is 00:46:26 you know, it worked out well. I remember how it was like game of telephone for real trying to figure out what you ran. Yeah. You know, like I'm like, man, that felt good. And then somebody was like four eight. And they don't tell you like back when Chris and I were. were in it they didn't tell you there was one guy at the table at like the 20 yard mark on your way back to the line if you're going to go a second time and you ask him what did i run because you may feel good and he is told to tell you i can't tell you right it's like another stop sign that pisses you off at the combine right yeah i had no i'll beat that guy up yeah there's a lot of at the con i was like uh um all right so we talk about your dad man and i didn't know this your dad played
Starting point is 00:47:06 for the Chiefs for a long time and you're young enough that, you know, you're far enough removed from it. I remember when I played in the league, when I got older, a lot of guys didn't know my dad played in the league, you know, my dad being Howie Long and everything. Right. Like, they probably played against each other. Yeah. I got a good story for you. Okay. Here we go. I brought up that I was in this podcast. I was talking to my dad. My dad was a rookie and your dad was a little older than my dad. And he remembers there was an interception and my dad was running to make the tackle. And your dad, dad ran right past my dad scream boo and my dad was a rookie thinking like you was getting super scared my dad i give him kudos if
Starting point is 00:47:44 you had this quick enough quick thing on his feet but he said ooh is it Halloween I was like there's no way my dad actually said that but that my dad was like man what a slick rookie man I yeah not because they hated each other the chiefs and the raiders hated each other they had all these big fights and stuff always sure you heard about those yeah but what what you know how do you feel I don't how we felt coming into it do you feel like, you know, there's a lot of pressure on you or a lot of people learn that about you after the fact like us. Yeah, I think, you know, I put a lot of pressure on myself and that's just naturally how I am. I don't put a ton of pressure on like the actual like, you know, where you get
Starting point is 00:48:22 drafted, where you're going, all that, stuff like that. Like I said, that stuff takes tears itself. For me, it's just I kind of go back to, all right, I'm going to be a freshman in college again and I got to go back to work on the bottom of the totem pole and I got to go back to work and earn, earn the respect to the coaches, earn the respect to the vets in the room, and that's kind of where I go back to. So I think, you know, when I think about it, it's like, all right, I'm back to work. I got to put my best foot forth, all these guys and just try my best.
Starting point is 00:48:45 Dude, I'll give you this piece of advice as an O. Lyman, who's been there as a first rounder, and I've been through the league now, and I'm out on the other side. I would urge you to understand that what you do dictates where you are on that totem pole. So you said you could be at the bottom of the totem pole, but you get there day one. you're going to have a unique opportunity to be a leader that is the same age.
Starting point is 00:49:08 Well, fuck, Kyle. He's being humble. Same age as a college. I'm just saying, dude. You know he's going to take that shit over. I know you're another game guy. And my next question is going to be about my uncle, Harry Easton. He's not really my uncle, but he's yours too.
Starting point is 00:49:19 You had him your sophomore year. Can you talk a little bit about the jump you made from freshman year to sophomore year and the impact that Harry Heistanda had on you and so many others that came before you? No, I think, you know, coach Easton, I give. a lot of the credit too. I came in very raw playing, you know, tight end of one game of tackleman high school. I kind of got thrown in my freshman year and was like, my mindset was like, I just want to refuse to lose, whatever I got to do. I didn't know, you know, how to set my footwork, any of that stuff. And here comes coach East Dan, he's like, no, your step's got to be here.
Starting point is 00:49:52 And your hand's got to be here. And we're setting vertical here. We're not want to get turned. So like, he really taught me like the base fundamentals that allowed me kind of to grow and really learned the game at a much more, you know, fine-toothed comb way, gave it much more black and white of feel instead of this, like, gray feel that I had my freshman. You're like, just go out there and just don't let the guy hit the running back, don't let the guy at the quarterback. That's how my mindset was, like, whatever I can do. And then Coach Easton's like, no, like, pass where you got to be inside out. You know, you want to get your head to play side, keep that leverage. I mean, the lane open on the run. I was like, all right, this makes a lot more sense. So I, you know, I give a lot of credit
Starting point is 00:50:26 coach Easton, you know, my jump from, you know, freshman and sophomore. And there's golden rules that he gives you, like the acronyms, AAT at all times, NMW, no matter what. AOC. You guys have to shorten that? Accelerate on contact. These are the keep the offensive line, Chris. How simple are you guys? You got to shorten three monosyllabic words, Kyle.
Starting point is 00:50:47 I'm going to ask him about another. Joe, I thought he was a genius. I got a short. I'm going to ask Joe another question. So, you know, in looking into his, the schoolie graduate or his alma mater, you know, Notre Dame, people are, they're a bunch of heart. at Notre Dame and I get it. Okay, we have an uncle who has a fighting Irishman tattooed on his calf. A lot of people in Boston. They like the Notre Dame team. Well, you have a high school you went to
Starting point is 00:51:11 Tatino Grace College Prep 3.5 stars, Chris. You know, now's your opportunity here. You have this amazing platform to pump up and show some pride in your your college prep academy. You know, the 3.5 Yelp rating isn't very good. So you have the stage now. Yeah. also dunk on people that were rated higher. Yeah. So my high school was very small. I think we graduated with, like, 180 kids in my class. So it was a smaller high school.
Starting point is 00:51:38 We played in the top division in sports. So we were always kind of like, we got the daddy's money, you know, Chan, the student sections and games, all that because we were a private school. But, you know, for me, when it comes to, like, the schools and stuff like that, I think the biggest thing that I always look for is people. And I had a lot of buddies going there from my grade school who went there. and funny enough, one of the girls in my class, her dad was the president there. So, like, it was just kind of a perfect fit for me and I got there.
Starting point is 00:52:05 And I really met some of them, like, my closest friends and, you know, the teachers there really are people I still like and stay in touch with. So I give a lot of credit to that school. I think it grew me as a man a ton. I think that's the biggest thing I would take from there. On the outside, you look at a picture. It looks like a prison. That's probably why it gets a 3.5 Yelp rating.
Starting point is 00:52:23 Just a bunch of Olympic racks in there. You just get lift weights and watch hockey and jogging. drink beer. Exactly. Yeah. It's a pretty, it looks like a prison. It's a brick building, but we get, we get, we get after it in there. That's all matters.
Starting point is 00:52:34 Hey, we were talking a little bit before he came on, um, about Matt Bayless, who was my strength coach, one of my strength coaches at Virginia way back in day in 08, 07. He was there with you at Notre Dame for a while. I always, I always described him as like a secret weapon. Yeah. Because there are strength coaches and then there's Matt Bayless. And when I watched Notre Dame play the physicality, the way the guys look, I can remember being down.
Starting point is 00:52:57 on the field and seeing your tight ends two years ago when you played Virginia a couple years ago. And I'm like, oh, it's going to be a long day. But like, I'm looking at the fruits of Matt Bayless's labor, in my opinion, how important was he to you and how different were some of his tactics? Yeah, I think, you know, there's always the physical side of things. That's not the thing I think that was special about Matt Bayless in my case. Obviously, we, you know, we trained super hard physically and did all that. I think it was the mental toughness that he gave us and the ability to, like, push through in
Starting point is 00:53:25 some of those scenarios where you're exactly. You don't really want to go forward. Be like, all right, if I can push through in this summer themed workout, you call it. It's the Fourth of July themed workout. We're running the stadium, but then we think we're done. We're back on the field pushing the two by four wood sleds on the ground. I mean, trying to push this, you know, do a half-gaster with it, and I'm dying. But like, you just got to get it done.
Starting point is 00:53:45 I think allowing to push through some of those workouts when you really didn't want to do it's the summer. It's beautiful. All I want to do is go hang out with your buddies, but you got to do it. I think it really allowed us to succeed and kind of push through in some of those tough scenarios in game. But, no, his tactics are great. And I think they, like I said, obviously he trains us super hard physically, but mentally,
Starting point is 00:54:03 it's really where he got me and got me better. Yeah. Did y'all do the midnight lifts? No, we never had a midnight lift. We used to have us in there for midnight. Curfew at Notre Dame, Chris. At least we weren't at the bar. Yeah, they have a curfew.
Starting point is 00:54:17 Did you ever see Rudy at the bar, by the way? I hear Rudy is like, he's a legend. Well, we know he's a legend. But then, yeah, so talk to me about Rudy when he goes out to the bar. bar, man. Yeah, yeah, Rudy's bar is Corby's in South Bend. I stayed away from that one. I actually went for the first time on Pro Day. I went there. I didn't see Rudy, but they do have a nice little pizza shop in there, late-night pizza fresh and ready to make. So I think that's the only thing I'll say positive about, you know, Corby's, but never ran into Rudy around campus. He was mentioned,
Starting point is 00:54:45 but people at Notre Dame, they don't like the, you know, the Rudy mentioned. That's not like, oh, you only know Rudy? Like, you got to know more about Notre Dame. So that's kind of, that's like, It's like people go to New York, they want to eat Sparrow. Yeah, right, exactly. That's not, is it Rudy? Like, we have a lot more than Swaro here. Yeah, okay. All right, well, how about when you get to the NFL, you know, you're going to get, not
Starting point is 00:55:09 haze, we don't want to use that word, but you're especially in no line room. Good luck. But like, they're going to make you sing karaoke maybe. Do you have a karaoke song picked out? You know, I've actually been pondering this one for a long time. See, I'm a country person. Grew up listening to country. That's all I've ever listened to.
Starting point is 00:55:27 But I know that's not going to be the best karaoke song because it's just you're, you're too slow, you know, kind of needs to be more upbeat. So I'm trying to think of, I have my pop days back in the day when I was younger, some of that 2000s pop that I got to kind of rekindle with, maybe like a little M&M or something that I can, you know, get down and rap or something. So I'm trying to feel like Garth Brooks. They're going to love Garth Brooks. They're not going to know Zach.
Starting point is 00:55:51 Yeah, I feel like it's fast-paced. enough. You'll get enough people saying. I know, I know, but I don't think of people that people know that people know Zach Ryan. I'll always have a guy. I just went to his concert last summer, but I don't think you want songs. You want songs that people are like, oh, I know that song, even if it's just kind of. You should sing the national
Starting point is 00:56:06 anthem. If you fucking get up and sing the national anthem, your offensive line will laugh so hard. You and I both know that not only in volume, size, but in numbers, the O line's the biggest group. So if you can make them laugh the rest of the rest of the room you fucking make them stand up and salute find a flag make him salute it and sing it no no you got to dress like patent you got to dress like patten you
Starting point is 00:56:32 got to dress like patten go in the locker room slide on like you know some you know some you know some patent go up and get out there and yeah i like i got a question for my dog here so your brother is your brother mark big hockey guy right you know professional hockey plays a free agent right now i believe. They fight. They have that mutually agreed upon combat in that sport, which I think is awesome. Do you think that there's a place for that in football? And what do you think the minimum requirements?
Starting point is 00:57:01 Like, do the helmets have to come off? Should they stay between the, the hash is? What's the rules? Yeah. The weird thing about hockey, like you said, it's like mutually agreed upon. Like they'll be, you know, face off. I'm like, all right, we're throwing down. Like, I didn't get that.
Starting point is 00:57:15 So, like, I had no idea. Like, I feel like in football, I'd be like, what are you going to do talk after the plane and they'd be like all right next play we're meeting like i think helmet's got to come off because my brother whenever he fought he'd always cut up his hands like on the visors so i think about punching a helmet like i'm breaking my so like in there done that yeah helmet's got to come off but then they get a shoulder pads like what do you so you got a good for grappling you know those uh you know you can grab them chuck them around yeah but like in hockey that you can grab the jersey they're loose but like in football you're not these jerseys tights we're not really grab me
Starting point is 00:57:45 think we just like sort of boxing in the middle of the middle of field like it would be before the play i think it would be like uh you know fletcher cox across from jason kelsey in practice and they both just say fuck it it's hot let's take our helmets off the little guys are going to abuse this rule yeah they're punching each other in the helmets all day i'm all showmanship with the little guys hey um joe speaking of hockey there's a running bit that i have with hockey fans where i act like their sports not tough obviously it's very tough it's a good bit hockey fans love to tell you it's tough and uh i i i wanted to ask your brother presumably smaller than you can he kick your ass because he's a hockey player or can you whip his ass i got about four or five inches of my brother now
Starting point is 00:58:29 and about 120 some so i'll just leave it at that we haven't thrown down since i grew but i'll just put it at that so we stand to gain a lot if there is an upset is what you're saying yeah okay yeah okay all right what's your first purchase going to be when you when you get riches as hell in a couple weeks. Yeah, I'm looking. There's this, there's this used Ford Shelby truck about 10 minutes from my house. And that's,
Starting point is 00:58:56 that's what I've been looking at. It's got 7,000 miles on it. It looks like something I might purchase. Go to your, go online to restoration hardware. Trade in the double bed and the Notre Dame comforter. Get yourself a big boy bed. And I remember it's funny because Chris called me,
Starting point is 00:59:15 when I was getting ready to be a first round pick, and he said, do you remember the last shit you took? And I said, yeah. And he goes, well, the next one you're going to take it.
Starting point is 00:59:24 Your next house is going to be a lot more comfortable because the toilets get bigger. And I remember that conversation. I'll never forget it, dude. So just when you're- Hell, Ricky,
Starting point is 00:59:33 I was high when I said that. You're sitting in your new house in like a month, and you're taking a dump. And you're going to think of us, bro. You're going to be sitting on a gold toilet. maybe in Chicago. It's not a gold one.
Starting point is 00:59:47 It's one of them high. I get the high. Yeah, big Japanese joint. Yeah. All right. So where are you supposed to get picked? Like, what are you honestly thinking? Like, are you supposed to be, because I haven't looked in a couple days.
Starting point is 01:00:01 I lose track with the mock drafts. I'm sure you can't even look at them. But do you kind of have a lay of the land? Yeah, I try to stay away from it. The hard part this year is just the quarterbacks and, you know, where they're going to go. and is it really a trade for a fourth one or how that's going to go. So I don't have like a super strong inkling. You know, I've done my 30, I did 3.30 visits.
Starting point is 01:00:21 So I went to the Giants, Jets, and the Titans. They all went well. So like, you know, I have a good feeling with a couple of those teams, but nothing where it's like, hey, you know, this is where we're going. You know, they're going to pick me at, said, you know, whatever. Like I don't have anything like that really yet, which kind of makes it more fun. You know, everybody don't really know on draft night where I'm headed. Well, listen.
Starting point is 01:00:38 No ink up, Dad. You're not going to have to wait a long time. You're going to be at the draft. Am I assuming that you're going to be. I will not with the draft. I'll be at home. You're smart. That's a smart guy.
Starting point is 01:00:47 You are you going to do? What are you going to do? Yeah. So I have my immediate family. My brother-in-law is and sisters, we have 20 people. So we have a pretty big family. So I'm going to, there's like a vineyard slash bar like 10 minutes from my house. So we're going to go there and mess it out.
Starting point is 01:01:02 You're going to wear a suit? What are you going to wear? I don't think so because I'm not there. So I think I probably just being something more comfortable, you know. You don't talk about a good idea. Wear something cozy that you can stuff a lot of. fucking money in yeah dude yep yep um okay do you last question for draft nostalgia people uh here do you have a a draft that you remember watching like the first draft you remember watching where
Starting point is 01:01:23 you watch one of the big guys walk up there on stage it's just thrown into your brain the when eric fisher got picked first over all that draft was was crazy just because he was the chiefs guy and obviously i had the chiefs lineage in me so we were watching because we heard the chiefs were out one and that was the one i was like whoa i didn't know like you know like you know offensive tackles go that high and stuff like that. I didn't know guards went that high, bro. There was a run on guards that year. I thought I had 17 visits, bro.
Starting point is 01:01:49 I took 17 trips to go to teams. I had no idea where I was going to get picked. I thought I was going to be a third rounder. There was a run on guards. Yeah. Thank God for O-line appreciation. And next thing you know, I was the 20th big. Who else was taking was Fisher?
Starting point is 01:02:01 Chance Warmac, Eric Fisher. I believe it was Luke Jokkel, who is like, where's Waldo. I don't know where Luke Jokkel went. Jacksonville. No, I know where he got drafted. Trust me. I don't know where he ended up. No.
Starting point is 01:02:13 And Lane. And my boy, Lane. Ron Armstead. Have you watched some Lane tape? Oh, I've watched a lot of lane tape. Don't watch too much. There's not many people on. I can do what he does.
Starting point is 01:02:24 I know. That's like when people ask me like, you watch a lot of Lane. I'm like, yeah, but like he's a freak of nature. Like there's not. If you look and move like that, I'm like, I just listen to him like talking about like the snap count stuff. Because I'm like, I can maybe apply that to my game. Like the way he's savvy. The way he moves, I'm like, I can try, but I'm not going to spend too much time trying to do all that.
Starting point is 01:02:45 I had to run my 40 after him, bro. He ran a 476. And then Tehran Armstead ran a 479. I ran the fastest I ever ran in my life thought I broke the land speed record and it was a 496. And you're like, fuck, dude. Look at these freaks. Yeah. Well, Joe Alt, certainly a freak of nature in his own right.
Starting point is 01:03:02 I can't wait to watch this guy. He's going to be great, man. I really enjoyed talking to you, dude. And I'm wishing you the best of luck the next couple weeks. Your life's about to change. and hopefully you win a lot of football games and win a lot of awards in the NFL. Keep earning it, big dog. Keep earning it.
Starting point is 01:03:16 We'll do. Thank you guys for your time. I appreciate it. All right. Thank you. Bobo. It's Macon. Bacon.
Starting point is 01:03:23 Hey there, brother. How are you? Hey, man. Well, actually, not so good. I just had a lunch. All right. So I finally found a good khaki. And I put a pinstain in the khaki not six weeks ago.
Starting point is 01:03:37 So I bought the same khaki. again, a replacement khaki. And I just put a beet salad with some grilled salmon on top onto the khaki, like three separate stains on the new khaki. And I texted my wife, I said, do we have a good stain remover at home? Because I don't think we do. She confirmed we do not,
Starting point is 01:03:57 but sent me a link to something we can get that. Apparently is some miracle stain remover. But I'm in a bad spot. You got to soak those bad boys, those khakis. I put water on it right away and then I walked out of the restaurant and it's just there. Can you like cut off the one pair of khakis and then sew the two pair of khakis together in some sort of frank and khaki situation? That's one of the smartest things I've ever heard because they're the same color and different that I've done, I've screwed up the opposite leg so this could work. That could be perfect.
Starting point is 01:04:31 Now we just need a seamster or seamstress. Yeah. You know, we've got one. Wow. we've got one. All right, Bo. Listen, Chris and Kyle just talked to Joe Alt, off to tackle,
Starting point is 01:04:45 Notre Dame. We are now less than a week out from the beginning of the draft, as folks are listening to this, and it's time to talk. Divas, corners, receivers, the slide of frame folks
Starting point is 01:05:01 who make the big plays. Yeah, the ones that actually play fun football and get to touch the ball and get to have a little swag unlike your, you know, your run-stopping noseguard like me. So I'm not going to lie to you make. And this is not an area of expertise for me. I was, in fact, not a DB or a wide receiver coverages can get a little tricky. But so I had to outsource some of this scouting.
Starting point is 01:05:25 So bear with me. Let's start with the DBs. You know, by all accounts, this is a very good group of defensive backs in the NFL draft. So a lot to be excited about. a lot of names here. I'm just going to hit the guys that I feel the most comfortable talking about. So let's start with Cooper Dejean from Iowa. You know, he's a real heady player. He gets everyone lined up, kind of a gym rat, tight hips, real playbook guy. You're not going to be afraid to put him out there on the field, you know, high football IQ. You know what I'm saying? Tough, gritty player, maybe stiffen the hips,
Starting point is 01:05:59 but a big time locker room guy. You know what I mean? I didn't realize that Jason Seahorn and Angie Harmon got divorced. That's too bad. They were married from 2001 until 2016. But I'm sure you picked up on that joke there because Cooper Dejean is actually a freak, freak athlete. So one of my friends is a scout. I'm not going to say for which team, but it's a team that I know pretty well. Anyway, he said that he has great length, great upside out of Cooper Dejean. And he kind of needs to learn how to play corner a bit, but he's a freak athlete, really good with the ball in his hands. I think you probably remember that return that winning punt return that was called back yep i think that was against
Starting point is 01:06:40 iowa state um but cooper de jean is should be a day one guy really a lot of length a lot of talent and you know despite my basic white man scouting report actually a fucking freak athlete so if it's he's really fun to watch move like he's just great in space and we're sure on the pronunciation i have no reason to doubt you but it's like it's like the mustard you know essentially i i feel like d'jean he's cooper de jane he's cooper de jane we might need to check our sources on that one but i kind of like the de jane i do too i do too so why don't we just roll with that okay he uh yeah he seems to be a top um most cornerback boards maybe maybe with this uh quinian quinian quinian quinian yeah the mitchell from Toledo on his heels.
Starting point is 01:07:28 Yeah, and actually that's my top guy. He is really tough. He can do it all. He's tough. He's big. He's fast. He's willing to tackle a lot of the run game in the NFL these days making. Teams run a lot of duo dive solid.
Starting point is 01:07:42 It's called basically you just run a lot of double teams on the inside and the ball almost always bounces to an unblocked corner. And so you need a guy that's willing to come down and run support and tackle. And Mitchell is a guy like that. One thing that I love about him, too, is he decided to turn down a bunch of money to stay at Toledo. Like he got offered, you know how the transfer portal and NIL is these days. These college kids are getting fucking paid.
Starting point is 01:08:06 And if you're, you know, the difference between making money in NIL at Toledo or a school like Alabama or Georgia, like that's actually, you know, six figures. Like that's a good chunk of change. So I love the fact that he decided to stay in school,
Starting point is 01:08:19 turn down this money and he's going to get a big payday here in about a week or so. I think he'll be, I saw some drafts where he was maybe the, you know, second guy off the board, but he's my favorite guy. He has unbelievable cover skills and, you know, he's tough, big, fast. He can really do it all. He's my favorite guy. And again, like I said, I love a guy who's willing to be fucking loyal.
Starting point is 01:08:41 Stay in Toledo and, you know, kind of play his football there. So a lot of good things on tape from him. He'll be a day one guy. Did D.Bs ever yell at you guys? Did their room ever yell at your room like, hey, we can't do this all day long? Can somebody get home, please? Yeah, usually if you have like a six-man pressure or like a seven-man pressure, like a zero blitz where they're in man and you don't get home and then like the ball
Starting point is 01:09:09 gets completed for a first down or like a big play, like they'll scream at you. And honestly, you need that sometimes. But hey, that shit works in reverse too. You know what I mean? Like the ball's getting out in two and a half seconds and we're winning rushes because these dudes are playing off 10 yards. like they're going to catch some heat for me also to two-way street making yeah no doubt about it um let me tell you about some other guys i'm excited about um there's a couple of good dudes from alabama i know
Starting point is 01:09:35 you love to play the name game so you're probably way ahead of me on this one coolate mcinstry yeah uh and tarian arnold both out of bama let's talk about arnold first i think he's one of like Daniel Jeremiah's first dbs off the board. I'm honestly not quite as high on him as I am on Mitchell and some of these other dbs in this draft. I think he's a really good player. He's tough. He's really solid overall, but he's like inconsistent at times. Sometimes I want to see a little bit more out of him. Don't get me wrong. Like he's a really good player and I think he'll go in round one. I just kind of like Mitchell a little bit more. I'm kind of hot on Mitchell. But it's fun when you have a good pairing of elite cornerbacks and also an elite name in Kool-Aid McKinstree.
Starting point is 01:10:22 One thing that's fun about him is I think I saw a report that Sabin said that he's like one of the smartest football players he's ever been with. So really solid corner, really savvy guy, smart. Should be, I think maybe he'll be a day two guy just because of these some of these other really good names are out there. But Kool-Aid's a really fucking good player. And it's fun to see him get praise from Sabin. talking about how smart he is as a player.
Starting point is 01:10:48 It's kind of a vet savvy, smart presence on a really good Bama defense for a long time. Is the kid from Michigan Sanry still? Yeah. Mike's Sainer still. I don't know if he made your list, but all I remember from his season is kind of locking up Maserati Marv. Maserati Marv. M.
Starting point is 01:11:11 H.J. During Ohio State Michigan. Yeah. Obviously, that's a pretty big college football game. making. Yeah. So my sources are telling me that Stainer Still is more of a nickel than like an outside corner, which is good. There's obviously a need for that in the NFL and he did play well in the Big Ten.
Starting point is 01:11:31 He's an all-around good player. I haven't seen a ton of his tape, frankly, but I think he'll likely be a day two guy as well. But he's on my list and he did have a really good game against Marvin Harrison, Jr., which says a lot about your abilities as a, you know, as a DB because you know that guy's be getting the ball a couple i think that's mainly oh a guy who i'm really high on uh that i think is a little bit of a sleeper is max melton from ruckers he has an unbelievable feel for the game he's got really good uh feel for like the presence of a quarterback when the quarterback like where he's going with his eyes when he's going to get rid of the ball and that's really helpful in like man and zone
Starting point is 01:12:09 defenses so kind of some versatility there's also a really good special team's player i think you like two or three block kicks. And that goes a long way for your value in the NFL as well. I think he's a sleeper pick. I like him a lot. I kind of like him more than like some of these other guys like Kool-Aid and Terry and Arnold. But I'm not sure how other NFL teams feel about him.
Starting point is 01:12:28 But I think Max Mountain's a fucking good DB. And I think he'll be a solid NFL football player. So good things about him. I know a guy called Ben. And he went to the Pennstripe Bowl to see Rutgers play, said the guy is a good football player. Fluid hips. Fluid hips. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:12:48 This is Max Melton. That's a great scouting note. On a on a on a on a on a on a on a on a on a on a on a on a on a on a on a on a been passed a note. Uh-oh. It is Cooper de jean de jean and maybe even Dijine de june de june de june the Cooper Dijin. Holy smokes.
Starting point is 01:13:09 I like to John. Well, that just means Quinnian Mitchell is definitely our top corner. DG. That's from the University of Iowa football website. You know, see,
Starting point is 01:13:23 I just pretty sure that's certain. I don't watch the media copies. I'm just all 22, baby. I'm not, you know. Yeah. You don't know how to pronounce the word because you've only read it. You know,
Starting point is 01:13:33 you're one of those smart guys. Exactly. One more guy that I think will be likely day one guy is Clemson quarterback. Nate Wiggins. He ran. one of the fastest 40 times with the combine, which is always a sexy metric. But he ran like a 4-2, 40, which is great.
Starting point is 01:13:50 But he's also got really good length. So he's 6-1, 173 pounds, which is pretty big for a corner, like kind of a frame like Carlton Davis, who just got trade to the lines that played with him in Tampa. Anyway, the thing that I'm concerned about with Nate Wiggins is, you know, he's a speed guy. It's kind of a Ferrari. You know, how is he going to hold up in the physical run game of the NFL? Like I said, those corners are expected to make a lot of tackles. And he's a willing tackler, but he, like, he is 100% a cover guy.
Starting point is 01:14:17 Like, he has elite speed as evidenced by that 40 time at the combine. I'm just concerned about his body's ability to hold up over the course of, you know, an 18 game NFL season. But he's a great, great cover guy. And I think a lot of teams are very high on him. He'll be a day one guy. Like, he will tackle, but he doesn't love it. Like, he's not an overly physical player.
Starting point is 01:14:38 He kind of knows what his strengths are, which is speak and coverage ability. And that's what he'll be asked to do likely. So Wiggins is good. He'll be a day one guy. So I want to buzz through a couple teams that have a lot of needs here at the defensive back position to see, you know, who might make some moves during the draft. The bills, they need some DBs, all right? They've had defensive back problems for years. Russell Douglas, guy who I played with in Philly, fucking great guy.
Starting point is 01:15:10 Chris has probably told you some of the stories of us playing. pull with him in the locker room. I love Rasul. But he played well for them, but they need a stable solution outside of him. They cut injury-prone, Trey White, and they have a couple other guys who haven't really lived up to their billing as young players.
Starting point is 01:15:28 A couple other teams, the Lions added Carlton Davis, who I mentioned already, they added him this off-season, but they need to replace Cam Sutton. I'm not going to get into that too much, but they got to replace Cam Sutton, let's just say that. Cardinals have a lot of fucking needs, frankly, on their roster.
Starting point is 01:15:46 DB is one of them. Raiders, big need. Colts, Packers need somewhat opposite. Jair, Falcons. There's a bunch of teams. I mean, these are just a few of them. The Broncos need someone opposite Patrick Certain, Rams, Vikings, Patriots. So a lot of these, I think there'll be like five or six.
Starting point is 01:16:05 Four or five DBs picked in the first round. It's a pretty good crop of a young defensive back talent. Last few years, we've had Devin Withers. Spoon, Derek Stingley, Sauce Gardner, Rieck-Wollen, who's your best bet? Sure Fire. I know you love Mitchell, but who's the straight down the middle of the
Starting point is 01:16:22 Fairway guy? You sure is going to be a pro. I think Nate Wiggins, if he stays healthy, it will be a very good pro. Love it. I did a little research, Bo as we transitioned to wide receivers. 25-year sample of bust rates, okay? Running backs far and away.
Starting point is 01:16:39 Most busts in the first round. Then it's quarterback. And then we have a little grouping of D-line wide receiver corner. The safest positions in the first round, interior O-line. O-line, yeah. In safety. Interesting. So when a good team takes Jackson Powers Johnson, the Oregon Center,
Starting point is 01:17:01 I mean, that's just going to be a no-brainer. He's going to be a good player. But these wide receivers, it's pretty hit or miss. There's never been a number one, since 2000, there's never been a number one overall pick, be a wide receiver. at two, Calvin Johnson and Charles Rogers. Can't get much different than that. Hall of Famer, Megatron, one of the best receivers ever,
Starting point is 01:17:22 and then one of the biggest bus ever. At three, Braylon Edwards, Larry Fitz, Andre Johnson at four, Amari Cooper, Sammy Watkins, AJ Green, Peter Warwick, at five, Jamar Chase, Corey Davis, Justin Blackman. So you really got to fall in love with a guy and believe it at wide receiver because it's about a 35% bus rate. Where are we starting?
Starting point is 01:17:49 Well, let's start with a guy who I do not think is going to be a bust. Listen, you said that there's not going to be, there hasn't been a first overall wide receiver picked in a while. I don't know shit. All right. I'm just a lowly content creator making, but I do not think that there will be a wide receiver pick number one overall next week. But I think there are going to be a couple guys picked in the top.
Starting point is 01:18:08 There's two guys. I think could be picked in the top five. So Maserati Marv, who you mentioned, he's fucking good, man. He's got it all. And I feel like he's been talked about so much. I don't want to, like, continue to beat this dead horse. He's a great player, okay?
Starting point is 01:18:21 He didn't test at the combine, didn't really show off a lot at his pro day. Because, frankly, he doesn't fucking need to, man. He's got it all. Like, he's got speed. He's got size. He's got great hands, great catch radius. He's got an NFL pedigree. You know, Marvin Harrison, Jr.,
Starting point is 01:18:39 Marvin Harrison Sr. He's a pretty decent player as well. So I think I've seen a lot of mocks. Like he's going to go top five. It's kind of undecided. Obviously at this point where he's going to go, there's a lot of teams with wide receiver needs. And he's a fucking elite player, man.
Starting point is 01:18:54 I mean, I don't, he's kind of a no-brainer to me. Like he's a top-dent pick easily. Last guy to go number one overall at the wide receiver position, Kishon Johnson, 1996. Dude, you are just a bevy of fun facts. quick on that keyboard brother yeah i got um so malik neighbors from lsu is another guy who a lot of people are saying could supplant um Marvin harrison jrison junior is the first wide receiver off the board i really like malik neighbors he's kind of like tire you kill like he's super speedy guy but he can have
Starting point is 01:19:25 like he's weak versus press coverage at times obviously he was a great pairing with jaden daniels down there in ls u but one of my buddies who's a scout had this to say about it my stole's one liner because it was too good. A grimy competitor with speed and Twitch. So he's got great speed as well. He's a really good player. I think he'll be like a top 10 pick, man. Like he's he's he's fucking good. Like there's really like I'm not I'm a fucking noseguard. So I'm not going to overanalyze like these guys getting in and out of routes and things like that. He's just a fucking playmaker man and I like him a lot. Well his yak was even better than Marv. He had a 42 inch
Starting point is 01:20:02 vert, 4 340. And then he lined up inside and outside. The splits were almost 50-50, which is cool. Yeah, he's got some versatility. Yeah, exactly. And the third guy you're likely to mention, I think all three of those guys are potentially top five. Who's the third guy? You tell me, May. Romo Dunezai. Yeah, Roma Dunezai's fucking sweet. So I actually like him the most as a player. He's so fun to watch. He's got really good size too. Like he's a little bit, he's probably got three inches on Malik neighbors. Tested really well at the combine. First team all-American, like team captain. Like,
Starting point is 01:20:35 everyone fucking loves him. He's got great size, great ball skills. I think he'll be drafted. Like, I think he should go top 10. He's really savvy route runner, too. He's not overly strong as a player, like to defeat press coverage. But he's really savvy. And he has like all the intangibles really understands a game well, which you want to see from a young player. Like he's, I think he's another like, these three guys to me are no brainers. So the one comment that I, had from my buddy who I hit up said he's got uh he pairs intangibles in the past game with great athletic ability not only does he set up db's well to win but he gets others open to that's a fucking team guy making yeah so he's actually my favorite wide receiver in this group like i love mazarin i think he's a freak and a great player but like you know there's so much hype surrounding him i think
Starting point is 01:21:29 roams deserve some love too we bounce around to different mocks i'll go to the most recent one from a friend of the program, Peter Schrager. He's got quarterbacks going one through four with the Giants trading up to get J.J. McCarthy. And then he has our receivers go in O'Dunze, sorry, Harrison 5 to the Chargers, udence 6 to the Cardinals, and then neighbors nine to the Colts. Yep. So I think, yeah, Marv, the best buy a hair, and then those two won't be on the board much longer.
Starting point is 01:22:02 Yeah, no, I agree with that. And then we did not have the chance to break down tight ends. So I think now is a good time to talk about Brock Bowers. I love him as a player. I mean, he's not a blocking tight end. Like, let's be honest. He's incredibly productive. You know, why tight end that's going to has great pass catching ability.
Starting point is 01:22:21 Like, I fucking, my favorite thing about him is like he's tough. And he's not, he's like kind of no swag swag. You know what I mean? Like you saw him come back from that injury with Georgia this year and play really well. He's a huge part of their team. team like I could go on and on around about Brock Bowers like he's fucking great I think he's going to be a really good really productive tight end in the NFL like we're just kind of lumping him in with the wide receiver group because we didn't have the opportunity to talk about him like he's going
Starting point is 01:22:48 a top 10 pick I think the last mock that I saw had him going like nine maybe I got a I got to check that out but like shrags has him going 10 to the jets yeah yeah he's the best tight end of the bunch and rightfully so like none of the other guys are really even that exciting to talk about head on standpoint. So just want to give Brock Bauer some love. One of his teammates, actually, I saw a lad McConkey from Georgia is another guy who could potentially sneak into the first round of the draft. He's like your Hunter Renfro type wide receiver. Like, oh, come on, Bo. It's true, man. But he's everything that you'd expect. I mean, he's fun to watch on tape because he's really productive. And he's fucking twitchy. He's got
Starting point is 01:23:30 speed. Don't get me wrong. But like his assets as a player. our football IQ, you know, he's a really good, can run every route in the route tree. He's got great hands, really strong hands, all that shit. He's not necessarily a huge frame. I think my concern with him is like, how is he going to hold up against, you know, more physical, more athletic dbs? Like, how is he going to get separation against these elite, you know, NFL defensive backs and corners?
Starting point is 01:23:59 But I think he's a very safe pick, frankly. Like, he's a productive player. He's shown that at Georgia. He's got really good ball skills. Like he's a fucking good player, man. I think I, like, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him get drafted in the first round. Where are you taking a receiver if you're sure on a guy?
Starting point is 01:24:16 Because I point you to the Kansas City Chiefs receiver room. Yep. That was not so hot. Now, granted, they'd love to have one of these guys at the top of the draft. They're not going to have the opportunity. But recently, we've seen in 21, Jamar Chase, Jalen Waddle, DeVante, Smith, top 10 picks. They worked out. 22, Drake London, TBD,
Starting point is 01:24:37 but we think so. Garrett Wilson, yeah, we're pretty sure of. Chris Olave, good player. And then last year, we didn't have anybody, but we had that run at 20 with JSN, Quentin Johnston, Zay Flowers, and Jordan Addison. They all went in a row 2021, 22, 23.
Starting point is 01:24:53 Sorry, was there a question there making? It was at the beginning, so it requires you stay locked in. You think the top three guys are worthy of top pick and then there's a significant drop off. I think the rest of these guys are kind of like one team is just going to fall in love with them. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 01:25:10 And there's a lot of good wide receivers in this draft. Like there's like I've seen reports like six to eight wide receivers could get drafted in this first round. So it just takes one team to, you know, really love someone and take a shot on them. And whatever these guys will be a good team fit. And they could I, I don't know. Like I really don't know where some of these guys will end up. But I know that there's there's a pool of like eight like maybe even eight to 10
Starting point is 01:25:32 wide receivers that have first round talent. A couple of them I haven't even got to. One guy that I think is a little bit overrated, maybe not overrated, but like I don't love him as much as a player just because he's not as consistent. And that's Brian Thomas Jr. Malik neighbor's teammate at LSU. He's got unreal fucking ability, man. Like his athletic ability is off the charts.
Starting point is 01:25:57 He's uncoverable in college when he knows he's getting the ball. But like he doesn't play that hard sometimes. And for me, like personally, that fucking drives me insane, right? Because like, you can't take plays off. No plays off, Makin. No plays off. Not any of them. He's not consistent, but he has unbelievable ability.
Starting point is 01:26:15 And some of his highlights are so fucking fun to watch. Super appealing combination of size, length, speed, experience inside, experience outside. It's just the inconsistencies that drive me wild. I mean, I think he's a fucking first round guy. He's got too many tools in his toolbox for teams not to take a shot. shout on him in the first round. I'm just curious to see which team it ends up being. I'm falling in love with the guy called Troy Franklin out of Oregon. Six foot three, 187, 21 years old, gets a job done. And I want you to look out for mid-round selection,
Starting point is 01:26:48 Malik Washington. And I'm not just saying that because he went to Virginia for a year, transfer from Northwestern. I'm saying it because he caught everything and then could not be tackled after he caught it. Yeah. I mean, legitimately going to be a very good slot guy for somebody. Yeah. I did not scout either of those guys. I'll have to go back and take a look. But I got two more guys. I want to talk about a couple more guys. Polk from Washington is kind of a sleeper pick. I think he's going to be a really good NFL player. So I am sneak up and some draft boards. Don't want to get too far into the weeds with him. Xavier Worthy
Starting point is 01:27:22 from Texas, fastest 40 ever, 421. So he's definitely a speed guy. He was inconsistent at times also in college. And then another popular name that a lot of people are talking about, Xavier Luget, he's kind of like Hayward Bay. He tests really well and has really good raw talent, but he doesn't necessarily have great feel for the game. I think he's maybe slightly overrated, overvalued, but I think he will be a good NFL player. I just don't know if he's a day one guy. So, I mean, dude, there's like still like three or four more names that we could bring up, but those are, it's a good crop of wide receivers, man. We'll see, we'll see where they end up going. Hey, Adonai Mitchell, who apparently is now going by AD. A.D. Mitchell is now said to be a top
Starting point is 01:28:04 20 pick. Another Texas guy. Another Texas guy. Yeah, I saw that as well. It's interesting how you have these pairings of guys, you know, like two dudes from LSU, two dudes from Washington, two dudes from Texas, two DBs from Bama. Obviously, these are all really good teams with good quarterback, so it's funny how that works out. And it's like, hey, is Pinnock's good? Or did he have McMillan and Polk. Are those guys good, or did they just have pennings? Yeah. We shall find out.
Starting point is 01:28:32 How is good or did you just have Ladd-McGonkey? We'll find out over the next 15 to 18 years, my friend. Makin, I heard we were going to talk about college coaches and fighting. We still got time for that, or we? We were, but now we're not. Yeah. Because, yeah. Well, bottom line is we're supposed to pick college football,
Starting point is 01:28:52 head college football coaches that we wouldn't want to fight. I was going to flip the script on you. and talk about head football coaches that I want to fight because there is no head football coach. I wouldn't fucking dog out in the octagon. And there's a couple of them that I firmly think need to get slapped around a little bit, talking about PJ Fleck. So row the boat.
Starting point is 01:29:13 Yeah, you're not wrong, but again, we have no time for this. So, Bo, thank you for your corner and wide receiver breakdown. As always. We'll talk to you here very soon. Making such a pleasure. Hopefully I'll see you on Wednesday or Thursday or Friday. in person. Take care yourself.
