Green Light with Chris Long - Josh Allen Beats Texans, Lamar Jackson Dominates & Are The Giants A Wagon? | NFL WK1 Reactions
Episode Date: September 14, 2026The 2026 NFL Season has BEGUN!!! A lot of action from the first Sunday of the season and plenty of storylines to roll through. Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills played a tremendous game against the Hou...ston Texans and came out on top. CJ Stroud had a strong opening game of the season after dealing with an offseason of questions about his play and contract but he'll have to wait for week 2 to secure the Texans' first win of 2026. The offseason darling Chargers ran into some trouble with the Cardinals as Justin Herbert couldn't find his footing. Offenses were firing throughout the day with Lamar Jackson and the Ravens rolling to a 41-23 victory over the Colts, the Bengals dropping 33 on the Buccaneers, the Vikings scoring 22 points in the 4th quarter to beat the Packers 39-22, and Jaxson Dart and the Giants taking it to the Cowboys on Sunday Night Football. The Eagles also held off the Commanders for the 6th straight week 1 victory. Chris breaks down all the Week 1 action with Nate 'Dr. Fax' Collins and the crew, gives out some week 1 mentions and reports on the action from the vaunted Bermuda Triangle! Enjoy! *The Bears-Panthers game will be dissected IN-DEPTH by Chris and Beau on Wednesday so stayed tuned for that! Welcome to week one everybody.
Listen, I'm kind of nervous today.
Like, it's like we haven't done this before, man.
It's a little bit different in here.
It's a little bit different in here.
I just want some housekeeping items right off the top.
Welcome to the reaction show.
Week one.
We're going to be here every week.
One o'clock.
I got Dr. Fax in here.
Yep.
I got Nolan in here.
I got Cowboy in here and I got Tanner in here.
Yep.
Look at Tanner on the ones and two.
Ones and two.
Just dialed.
Look at him.
Look at him.
Always dialed.
Tap and tap.
Tap, tap, tap, dude.
But I'm so excited that it's football season again.
Sometimes you think you don't need football.
And then football comes around and you're like, damn, that just feels good.
Like, it just feels right.
Yeah, it's that time of the year too.
Like a lot of stuff to distract you from whatever bullshit's going on in your life.
Like just, we need this distraction.
Yes.
And the.
full slate you forget how overwhelming it is um sometimes i need to put this in my um in my shot
you see what that says that says hold on partner i'm over stimulated that's kind of how i've been
feeling the last 24 hours until there's bye weeks yeah no until there's by weeks it's going to be
really hard i just want to say this straight up you know a couple things off the top number one
welcome back uh welcome back to locals welcome back to people that are just joining in for the first time
maybe you heard about our show somewhere else, but like the way this show is going to go.
And we went back and forth on this offseason.
And I don't want to make any declarations on football teams and I don't want to make any, you know, broad stripes declarations on how this show is going to go.
But I will tell you, not every week will we hit every game on this show.
There are too many games.
I don't know how somebody could physically watch them all ahead of, you know, the first,
by week, whenever that is, week four or five or six or whatever, we'll have a fucking party in here.
Week five.
There are a million games.
So we might not get to your team's game.
One of your team's games might be represented in the Bermuda Triangle at the end of the show.
Maybe your team played great yesterday and I didn't get a chance to watch it.
And the other thing is you might notice, Bo is not in the window today.
Bo and I are doing our own show.
All my friends get a show with me.
Nate gets one show,
Bo gets one show,
Making gets one show, dude.
That's how we're laying it out.
Three shows a week this year.
You know,
it's just too hard to do the return thing
where Bo's inside the computer and we're here.
It ends up like we step on each other.
You know,
Bo doesn't know where to get in sometimes.
That's kind of unfair to Bo.
I want Bo to have,
you know, an open runway.
And so Wednesday, it's going to be me and Bo.
We're going to break down some of the games that we don't get to on Mondays.
We're going to do America's teams.
You remember America's teams?
We're going to do that.
We might have some guests every now and again.
We're going to have some fun on Wednesday.
So check that out.
It should be out on Wednesday mornings.
We'll have Monday Night Football Review, the whole thing.
Any news bullshit that happens at the start of the week.
If we don't hit your team today, tweet at Bo.
Yeah, tweet at Bo.
Let Bo know.
Bo call me.
Watch the game.
He called me.
He called me.
He's ready. He called me 45 minutes before this show, knowing what I'm like 45 minutes before this show that he's been doing for at least a year.
He said, hey, man, what do you think about tomorrow's show? Can we talk about tomorrow? I say, get the fuck off my phone. I got 18 games. I'm on game 12. I'm just trying to get to the finish line here. So, listen, we're so excited to be back at it. I love having a desk. I mean, what more could a guy ask?
for I like the dish you know his good buddies a chabell of level-headed fans that
certainly won't overreact anything this week and full slate of games so with
that we kick it off I do want to I do want to say this this show is going to be a
little bit different this year in not just the fact that you know the personnel
changes a little bit but we're also going to have some guests on this Monday show
and today you Eagles fans
I got a special guest for you.
I got a really special guest for you.
For those of y'all who are going to ask me,
why aren't you talking about the Eagles in the first five minutes of the show?
There's a lot to get through,
and I want to say it for our guest,
who happened to be in Australia for that Rams beat down
at the hands of the 49ers.
It felt like a week ago.
It was almost a week ago.
And I can't believe,
Nick Foote's the best teammate in the world.
He really is.
He's one of my favorite people,
but also like just imagine fielding a call in Australia
or a text being like,
yo, can you come on a live show on Monday?
He was like, I'm in Australia.
But I'll be back and I'll pop on with you.
I get back like Sunday or something like that.
Let's go.
He gets off the flight.
Nick Foles can handle the flight.
He gets off the flight.
He spends a day with his family.
He crunches some tape.
He's still probably jet lag,
but he's going to join us around 215.
He'll join us in about an hour.
So the aim is we're going to try to get through the AFC and then we'll make the turn into the NFC with Nick Foles.
BDN.
Some people call him.
He's going to have some thoughts on the Eagles offense, the new look Eagles offense, and the Rams.
And I do want to ask him about Cam Ward because admittedly I didn't get a chance to see that game yesterday.
And I'm rooting for the young man, but the reviews at least out in the interwebs are not good.
They're not good.
It's going to be a long year for my guy, Robert Sala.
I'm really glad I tripped trying to get on that hype train in the summer.
You know, I was like, I was thinking about it.
There's some teams you flirt with and you're like, you know what?
Maybe I should just go home, you know?
Yeah.
I'm going to leave the bar alone.
I don't need to leave the bar with the Titans.
And, you know, what I do like Tate.
Maybe it'll click.
Yeah, maybe it'll click.
It's the first week.
It's the first week.
It's the first week.
And that's the whole key today.
First week.
We're not going to overreact.
We're going to try.
I'm going to try my best not to overreact.
Now, if your team does stupid shit routinely and that's kind of who they are, you might sense a little overreaction in me.
But if like something is out of character, I'm not going to, I'm going to try.
I'm going to try not to overreact.
Like if you, what happened last night to the Cowboys, I might be doing a little overreact.
Dog.
We can start with that one.
but before we get to that let's get dog of the day dog of the day what we got dog of the day the dogs
were barking big dogs of seven or more points i think went two and one against the spread this week
isn't that right cowboy yeah two and one yeah dog of the day it's nolan's dog this is this is luna
here luna meet the locals locals meet luna yeah um big big free agency acquisition for the merr family
this year but yeah good good ball security there on luna she was fired up for the football
Is that some type of Labador?
Yeah.
That's yellow Lab.
Has to be one of the top five white dogs.
Like, American.
For sure.
Like pure white family dog.
No, you love Lab.
Any color lab has to be like top five.
White Labs, nice.
Chocolate.
Not so great.
Yellow, right?
Let me tell you something about chocolate labs.
They don't listen and they eat shit out of the backyard, dude.
You think all their personalities are that different?
The different color?
They say that, yeah.
They say that there's some personality variance.
There's some variants.
All dumb, though, I think.
Yeah.
We love our labs, but God bless them.
Yeah.
You know, I'm thinking about a golden at some point.
You think about golden?
Yeah, I want to see what some of these other whites are doing.
Airbud, right?
Yeah, dude.
So shout out to the dog a day, Luna.
What about to Luna?
And speaking of dogs, we got the giants who, you know, in my head.
Big dogs?
Listen, I see it.
I see it.
After one week, I see it.
It's just one week, but I do see it.
And you know, like, my analysis of this team coming in was like,
I see a lot of good things going on,
but it's hard for me to imagine it just all breaking right.
It's hard for me to imagine the quarterback staying healthy,
the running back who did another back flip after a touchdown yesterday.
I was like, bro, chill with the backflips, man.
You're actually a very valuable part of this team.
The defense, you know, the switch at head coach, the whole thing,
but it looked like they really leaned into the identity
that they wanted to be last night.
And it starts with, I'm just going to say it,
Jackson Dart was fantastic.
He really was.
I thought, you know, the run game supported him, obviously,
and the way they played supported him.
But when it was time for him to rip those in cuts,
to make the throws over the middle of field,
whipping his neck around,
working full field, making throws he had to make.
He was really good.
And, you know, on top of it, Shottie,
you remember last year, Shottie and Dallas,
and I want to make this all about Dallas
because, you know, everybody's got that, like, that Dallas thing.
But Shottie, everywhere I go, we run the football.
Well, not last night, not without, without Tyler Smith.
And not against that Giants team.
So it was kind of the other way around.
The Giants ran the football.
And it wasn't always spectacular.
You know, they got Malachi Lawrence on, I think, two quarterback keepers.
You know, they varied the looks.
They, you know, they pounded the football.
And Scataboo, he really falls.
forward for two or three yards and that's so valuable to a team that just wants to stay on schedule and
i got to say it are we saying Maui Noah maui go out how are we saying his name i believe it's
Maui noah maoinaw somebody tried to hit me with a curveball at some point of the name mali noah he was
pretty good i you know he flashed really well in there i had to speed through that tape in the morning
saw it last night Sunday night football but i if you're a giants fan i think it's more real than fake
I'm not saying they're, you know, I'm not going to crown them yet or say they're the second best team in the NFCEs, but it looked like it yesterday, didn't it? And so this is a big victory for a team that had lost the last 16, the last 18 games against Dallas. Did I see that? Did I read that right? You talk about pulling the fucking sword from the stone, dude? That is exercising the demons and then some. So I really like DART. He took some hits. You'd love to see him.
not take the hits he took at different points in the game.
You know,
in the pass rush for Dallas was totally anemic.
Now, they didn't get a chance to get into any type of rhythm.
But there was a throw that Dart made that was an incompletion that was just spectacular.
There was Fields who's going to be big for them.
He's on my fantasy team.
Thank you very much.
Not that anybody fucking asked.
But Fields, I'll just tell you anyways.
You've got to take the victories when you can early in the season.
Dude, hold on to your butt trying to gamble week one of the NFL season.
but Fields, the ball he threw to him on the left sideline was, you know,
it was right on the money, and he just took a shot.
So you don't want to see him running the ball a lot, but I think it keeps people honest.
When you put that on tape, Jackson Dart, couple quarterback design runs,
it's obviously got to be a part of their offense, and it really does soften the front
playing this Giants team.
We'll get to the Cowboys defense.
I thought the Cowboys defense was bad.
It was bad schematically.
The rush is something they really.
really need to figure out. And they got young players as a rock who changed his number. You're like,
who's that guy? Landed a nice chop club at one point in the game. You know, Lawrence, guys like that,
they got to step up for them because a 10% pressure rate ain't going to get it done. There's too many
question marks for them. And especially in a game like this where they lost hooker and, you know,
they lost over shown to a hamstring. Barham came in, blew up a screen. It was great. But then like
he looked like he was running in quicksand to get to the flat and i don't know if they're in three
sky or what they're in they're in cover three they're in cover four but it was like the same
play in the left flat to single terrier whoever the fuck it was it didn't matter late in the
you could have thrown me a check down and i'd have moved the sticks late in the game it was just
there was so much space there so listen christian parker it's a complicated defense the fan geo
defense you knew there'd be an adjustment but i think an achilles heel like not having a
pass rush is really tough, especially if you're secondary, is feeling things out. The likely
touchdown, there's two players in the flat. So there's busts, there's bad calls, and the most
crushing thing for the Cowboys is you lose the middle eight. I talk a lot about the middle
eight here, the four minutes before the half, the four minutes after the half. Quentin Williams,
the turnover, that's a big play. What is your franchise quarterback who's supposed to
to be an elite player do.
It's an arm punt.
It's a Cardinal Sin alert.
I mean, it is the worst thing you can do in a football game like that.
You have to know the type of game you're in.
It's 7-7.
This is a possession football game.
It was a Cardinal sin.
He threw the ball up.
The freaking Giants go down and score before the half.
And the Cowboys barely saw the football again.
And that's so impressive when you look at it from the Giants standpoint.
It's so depressing if you're the Cowboys.
You know, George Pickens dropping footballs, just not good penalties.
The face masks was killer late.
Williams Taunt was so dumb.
It didn't matter.
But you knew if the Cowboys came down and made it 28, 26, at the end of the game,
they were going to miss that two-point conversion just because that's law.
When you do something that fucking stupid, you know, I don't care if Brandon Arbery is your kicker,
he missed the extra point.
You know, so these are mistakes that just come back to bite.
you. So I was really, I was really, I was really underwhelmed with the cow, with the way the
cowboys looked. I was really underwhelmed. And I was really impressed with the way the Giants
looked. So do you think this is more about, like, was it more the Cowboys just are going to have
a long season? Or are the Giants like legit, legit? I think when you look at week one, and I should
have said this to start the, the whole thing. But there's always results that you look back in and say,
yeah, it was fake. You know, like the Jets last year, they put up 32 on Pittsburgh, and you're thinking,
oh, man, like the Jets could be fun. Maybe they turn around, yeah. You know, well, it turns out
Pittsburgh was the most overpriced defense in the history of football, you know, in Pittsburgh,
although they won the division looked really, really beatable week one. And, you know,
there were other games like that last, last week, you pull up the week one slate from 2025 right now,
2005 week one slate, and it happens every year.
there was
I always think back to two years ago
those first two weeks with the Saints
when they looked like the greatest
They were incredible
And you know what you drew from that
that Clint Kubiak was a real deal coach
Yeah for sure
But the team wasn't very good
And so you look back at
You know last year the Bengals
Barely beat the Browns
That's pretty
That's on par for September
The Raiders beat the Patriots
The Raiders beating the Patriots
There you go because that team ended up
In the Super Bowl
And they looked really bad the other night
That was the Dr. Backball.
But, you know, you look back at games like that and you say, well, that wasn't real, right?
Yeah.
And for a second, the Raiders looked pretty good in that football game.
On the road going up there, a bunch of yards for Brock Bowers, they're going to be tough to beat, yada, yada, yada.
They sucked.
So you just don't know what it's going to look like at the end of the season.
You don't know.
I do think in this matchup, though, the Giants found something a little bit real.
Whether or not they exceed their win total, whether or not they go.
to the playoffs is going to be predicated on how they play in crunch time. A young team in big
moments, they played better than the Cowboys in the got-a-have-it situations. Last night, can that
hold up all year long? I don't know. They're going to play some teams with better rushers.
They're going to play some teams that can man up. I don't think the Cowboys were competitive
with their coverages in key situations. So I do think the Cowboys have a higher ceiling than they
showed because the offense will click a little bit more than they did last night. I know they will.
When they get Tyler Smith back, the tackle situation is always going to be an issue for them.
Did John Harborough just like substitute Lamar and Derek Henry and just got him like the white version?
Yeah.
Jack and Dart. He brought Ricard over. He still has Isaiah likely.
Likely look great. Bro, he just like plug and play. If he gets all those guys in there to get the
of how he runs a team, like I feel like we're going to see a team that, like, in the past,
the Giants, like these close games that they lose, like a more disciplined team.
Hey, man.
You start winning all those close games.
You know what's funny?
I'm only five, six years late on this take, or I was early.
But there was a year I remember starting the season out, and this ended up being a stinker
of a take.
But the Giants, they won a game early in the season with, say,
was still there and they were they were it was powerful you know they they they
were the close games and I said are the Giants the new Titans and at this point
being it being a Titans team meant physicality it meant being nails in those
situations it meant you know winning the game in creative ways I think this
could look like that Brable Titans group a little bit more yeah yeah you know
and you bring up Derek cameras I'll try it again yes on the way over I was like
maybe there's like a
variable muddy it up version
Yes, dude
you know.
But the offense like
visibly
they seem like they were playing
physical.
That's right.
And I just feel like that's a reflection
of your coach,
how you've been practicing in the off season
because like getting those guys
and just seeing it like
I'm a fan, you're just like
oh man like we know it's,
you know it's week one but like
it's Christmas Eve.
It's Christmas Eve and Giants fans
they've been every Christmas they got socks
and they're just
just like maybe this Christmas will get something good.
Like, and they really did.
They opened up their presence and it's like, holy shit.
The problem's gonna be more like controlling the hype, right?
Because the hype is just swung in a big way.
And I think what's also ironic,
because I do believe in the Harbaugh effect
after watching them play for a game.
And there's a lot of good veteran coaches on that staff.
It's not just Harbaugh.
They've got, you know, the who's who of whoever.
They got Roman, they got Nagy.
DeNard Wilson did a great job.
I just, I look at the group and say, hey, like, they might play more mature than the youth on the team because of the coaching staff that they have.
And I think what's also interesting about is we're going to talk about the Ravens in a little bit.
Maybe one of those divorces where both parties are happy, you know, because the Doyle thing, I haven't seen the Ravens look like that offensively.
I've seen Lamar look like that, but I haven't seen the Ravens' offense look like that.
And so they're probably happy to get that infusion of creativity.
They needed the change up.
And I think the Giants needed Harbaugh.
So after week one, no overreactions, feels like the Giants look like the second best team in the East.
Uh-oh, the G-Bet.
But that's just week one, man.
Just week one.
It's just week one.
Might be different next week.
It might be different next week.
So we'll move to probably the big game of the day.
It was a Bill's Dixons.
This was an incredible football game, dude.
I mean, it just, like, it was everything you wanted.
And the fact that the defenses didn't play well, like made it more fun.
Now, I love a rock fight as much as anybody, but it was the kind of game.
And I, in the fourth quarter when, you know, Josh needed to go get a score and the bills needed to go get a score.
And he, you know, he threw the ball right to Lasseter and got away with it.
You know, but on that drive, I had no doubt they were going to score.
Just the way they were moving the ball to say that in the year of our Lord,
2006 against the Texans defense, it was just on the cover of Sports Illustrated.
And I'm as guilty as anybody fueling the hype train, right?
I still believe in that group.
And I said this last night, and maybe some of you all have seen the social or whatever,
but if you're a Texans fan, I think you're probably happier.
senior team lose 36, 31, then win 10-7.
We've seen 10-7.
We've seen what that ceiling looks like for that team.
I also think if you walked out of the stadium and said C.J.
Stroud didn't get any better.
You'd be pissing away another year of an elite defense.
And I got some texts last night from buddies that were like, I don't know, man,
Texan defense might be cooked.
And I'm like, yeah, that seems like an overreaction.
I think the sample size is big enough that they're going to be better.
I don't think the Reed Blankenship change up at safety because that's it is that big of a deal.
Now, Reed didn't have a good day, but neither did Stingley or Lasseter.
And if you think that's the way they're going to play every week, then, you know, I got some motion front property in Arizona.
I want to sell you, dude.
Like, I just, I don't buy that they're going to look like that.
And your Jags scored 30 points on them last year, 29.
You know, the Colts moved the ball on them late in the season.
That was a more meaningless game.
But it happens.
I think the defense will regroup.
The problem is they play Josh Allen with a full deck for the first time.
You're looking back at those last two games, and I brought this up last week.
You missed Khalil Shakir in one of those games, who's second most important weapon for him.
And then you miss Kincaid, who's their most important.
an offensive player outside of Josh and James Cook.
You know, and so you get your full deck, you add the newcomers to that picture.
You're a team that can actually run the ball and affect the box counts.
And I thought early in this game, they were in the ball just enough to keep everybody honest.
And I thought one thing Josh did really well was he was great with his eyes moving people.
He was great moving people at the second level.
and Kincaid is such a stud.
You know, Josh said he likes him more in any matchup,
and he got everybody, he got Lasseter.
He got Stingley on a 50-50 ball,
and Stingley is the closest thing to wide out playing corner
as there is in the NFL.
And then, you know, he also got Blankenship.
So, you know, it was a team effort,
I think that Joe Brady,
I kind of wonder if Joe Brady,
because the game plan looked totally different.
They spread them out.
you know they moved the they moved the pockets some with Josh Allen they took care of the edges they
they gave Will Anderson different looks they gave hunter different looks you know you had the G pull
pap um looks where um you know you get a guard pulling out and will takes the up and under on the
guard and then Josh burns them for 20 on the ground and you know there were there were little subtle
things you do to affect the pass rusher like putting the bunch right outside the defensive end and
making him kind of line up in different spots.
I actually talked to Will Anderson about that
when I interviewed him in Houston.
What's so hard about being a great edge is,
people pay more attention to you.
And they'll line a tight end up, a tight end up,
like right outside the core and make you decide,
do you want to line up outside him further distance to go?
Or do you want to line up inside him and risk getting chipped?
There was a lot of that.
And obviously the run game is well in the play action.
So I just thought they did a really nice job against what's a very simple but well-executed defense in Houston.
And they've got the players for it.
They have a very unique situation where they have a top running attack and one of the best quarterbacks in the league, in my opinion, the best quarterback in the league.
So full deck for them, I think Houston will be better.
And, you know, ultimately, although I think CJ Stroud played a lot better, Josh is just the better quarterback.
and in this game, he kind of took over.
And Stroud, I'll say this, the ball placement was much better.
Anybody watching a game, I know there was some cynics,
and it's just one week, and it is the new Jim Leonard defense,
and they look like at times a dumpster fire in the middle of the field.
Alford's going to get them hurt.
I don't want to see Hamlin out there as much she's out there.
You know, I think their lineback and core is incomplete at best.
the rushers man
Dion Walker is
and we talked about him
and I think he's a revelation for them
he's actually for a big
six foot eight guy
whatever he is
he moves well laterally
you can stunt him
you can stunt him across face
he's disruptive in the run game
he had the sack in the red zone
he blew up a screen
I thought Rousseau was great
Rousseau in coverage
with his wingspan dude
like good luck number 15 and he looks great number 15 and he also sealed the game so those guys played
well but but texans offense man a lot better only three yards for carry not like some banner day on the
ground but i think also the bills came into this one and said we're going to make cj straub beat us
and he almost did um so you know dave montgomery held to be able for this texans team to finish a drive
in the red zone inside the five yard line running the football
It's not something we're used to seeing.
And then on fourth and one, in their own territory, down a score,
to have the stones to go for it and run power,
which is a longer developing play.
And the front did a good job.
The Rutledge, Ursery, left side deal is very good.
Ingram's always going to bug you a little bit in pass protection,
but he's a road grader at times in the run game.
And, you know, I think they're a lot better up front.
So the question for me is going to be when people are able to take away Nico
Collins who's going to be the guy that was a good battle Benford and Collins but um
Strah was ripping in cuts and I also think all the tight ends on the field it's great
Stover really helped them in the run game and and gives them some formational
flexibility so all in all two I think of the best teams in the league two of the best
teams in the AFC and a different take on what this matchup looks like than we've seen in
the past think Stroud he had a couple of nice
plays but like one that stood out like getting that first down with his legs. I think he he needs to do
that just a little bit more. And I feel like that'll open up like some of those throwing lanes and kind
sit those linebackers down for maybe extra half second second. Yeah. To get some of those balls
across the middle to to Nico and whoever else. But just like you were saying, I feel like
week eight this game probably for Houston. This would be an outlier. Like,
we'll look at.
And I mean, if Joe Burrow, if next week, Joe Burrow puts up 30 points,
maybe start looking at things.
I think it could happen again.
As being different, but it's early.
Yeah.
I just feel like up and until now with the NFL, the way it goes,
and preseason isn't really as serious.
Guys aren't getting those real game reps.
Yeah.
I feel like it's hard to tell what's going to happen until like week four.
Yeah.
Because a lot of these teams, too, like a lot of guys are still getting cut,
going to get cut today, going to get cut this week.
Like, teams aren't fully made until, like, week four, usually.
So I just feel like this will probably be an outlier.
Like, as a, as a Jags fan, hopefully they'll just have a down year on defense.
To overreact to a Texan's defensive performance against the bills
who have a good offensive line, a great running attack.
a quarterback that can extend plays and now a full deck outside.
To me, that's just a little, like, I mean, it's a little rich.
You know, I think you'll see, I think Texan's offense is still on trial.
And Al Golden's defense in Cincinnati was pretty opportunistic,
and they've got some dogs up front, especially inside.
So that will be a stiff test for them.
So obviously we'll dig into this more.
We do the preview of that matchup, but just looking at the Texans defense yesterday,
You talked about how some of the things the bills did to neutralize that pass rush was moving the pocket.
What's an adjustment that Texans defense could make when that's happening to try to, I don't know, create more pressure or, because clearly they found something they were exporting.
Well-timed edge blitzes.
They didn't blitz a lot.
I mean, that's not really what they do.
Never do.
Yeah.
You know, and I think.
That would be interesting.
Yeah.
It's hard with Josh because, you know, your face.
facing a solid offensive line who's throwing different looks at you, chip protection,
play action, good run game.
I mean, that will slow any defensive front down.
And somebody inside has to win for the Texans.
That's still a place that I'm worried about.
Rankin's a good player, man.
And Togai, he's a good player as well.
But, like, do you have an ace pass rusher in there?
You know, McDonald, I don't think he played yesterday.
You know, and he's a big dog, but he's not like a pass rush.
He's got a ways to go in that respect.
So, you know, Texans work in progress, but I think if you're a Texans fan, again, I go back to the central question.
Be honest, would you rather have won that game 1310 or lost at 36, 31?
I'd like to see the offense take a step forward.
I say one thing.
Hey, you other teams in the AFC South, don't let the Jags get too far ahead.
Are you a Jags fan?
Too far ahead, man.
Only winning the AFC South is.
No, you're right.
No, you're right.
And you play an hell of a team yesterday.
It was a stiff-ass, dude.
I can't, it's going to be fun.
It's going to be a fun division.
I think the Jags, like, you know, and you'll talk about them later, I know, but
to go out there and just take care of business.
Man.
Take care of business.
And look really short.
Especially with them, just never knowing.
It's over, like, the years.
Yeah.
It's going to be fun.
So next we moved to the Bengals and Bucks, and I think it was a really interesting game.
This is one of the most interesting.
Wait, what do we used to call these games?
Hemingway.
This is kind of a Hemingway game.
But we also have the drunkenest game of the day.
Oh, okay.
We also have the Carson Wentz show with the officiating and the blown lead
and some of the crazy explosives that Green Bay had.
I don't know, chat, what do you think?
Which one was drunk?
Yeah, defensive coordinators in the Bears Panthers game
had to have been drunk.
Yeah, I think they.
I think they were.
Lordy, Lord.
They were at Uptown Cabaret.
I couldn't.
Can you imagine the defensive meetings in those rooms today?
Dude.
How many fucking, bro, you don't have enough time.
It is so quiet in that.
Move on.
So quiet.
Oh, hell no, you're not burning tape, not week one.
And here's the worst thing.
You got to watch those reps.
I haven't seen that game yet.
I haven't gotten there.
It takes me so long to watch a game where the defense gets shredded
because I'm just sitting there and like in disbelief.
Rewn.
That's one that we're going to get to in a deeper dive on Wednesday,
but I think, I think, you know, looking at it from the outside, looking in,
I, you know, Carolina's got to get their shit together.
That is not how I expect their defense to play.
Ben Johnson doesn't say, hey, we're going to have the best offense in history,
unless he has good reason to say, I know he's kind of, you know,
he's, you know, one of these offensive guys, but I think the thing that
that worries me about the bears is that defense.
So I can go back to last year, all the turnovers they forced, kind of played above expectation on third down, had some injuries in the secondary that are going to matter.
And, you know, I'll dive into that tape, but definitely a lot of points.
And again, we're going back to this as an aside.
It's hard to bet week one.
But one trend that people like to be on is the unders, right?
Nope.
And I saw this week.
Roger Goodell said, put the points up.
Man, I saw this week.
Let's get this season started off right.
Because I put in some unders on the pick show.
And two of them ended tragically.
Miami first half, Malik Willis, huge explosive.
And then they kick a field goal to hit the total.
And then, you know, the freaking Eagles, they come out with the win.
But I think that was an under game.
Come on.
The Ravens, you're banking on the OC having some hiccups his first game.
They look like the fuck.
and they look like the greatest show on turf.
So, but, but I, I, I looked at it last week late,
and it was like all 90, 10 bet percentage on the unders, you know.
And just like Vegas, Vegas got them.
Vegas is just, oh, man.
They know what we're looking at.
50 points per game.
The script writers know what we're looking at.
In week one game so far.
And, and supposedly, tonight's game goes over 40.
for 40.
That's the score 42 points.
They get the 792 points in week one.
They will.
Then that'll be the record.
I'm done with the unders.
I'm done with the unders.
How many points do they need?
42.
42.
It'll be 41.
It'll be 41.
The record for week one, 790.
2012.
Who did we open with in 2012?
And did we, did we, 2012 or M scheduled?
Were we a big part of this?
Did we give up?
Oh, yeah, we went to Detroit, and it was 27, 23.
We couldn't.
There was a guy named Calvin Johnson.
I don't know.
And he was hard to cover.
Oh, yeah, you probably added to it.
Who do we get spanked by?
The Bears, 4121 over the Colts.
No, I just want to see the Jags.
Jags lost the Vikings, 26, 23.
Yeah, so we did our part.
We did our part.
But Stafford, he got us in Detroit on the road.
a heartbreaker.
All right, so Bengals Bucks.
I think
if I had to boil it down to one sentence,
the Bucks could be pretty good if they weren't drunk
because it just,
like on paper,
they've got the guys
at different points in this game.
They look good.
But to do what they did,
21 points off turnovers on the first half,
you know,
they settle for three in the high.
I read, and, you know, obviously you had the Baker fumble on the goal line.
Like nearly pulling that out says something about the bucks.
And I would say that with my chest, but I also remember last year they opened with the Eagles
and they shit down their leg to start the game and they had to play catch up much in the same way.
And so, you know, they ran the ball well, four and a half yards per carry.
There's a lot to be excited about, you know, you got a new offensive coordinator in Robinson.
threw a lot of little pop passes behind the line of scrimmage.
I thought Ibuka looked really good.
He is so smooth.
There was one play on an insert play action where he's the insert guy,
and he has to crawl into his break, or he has to crawl into his route
because he gets caught up at the line of scrimmage.
He's on all fours, you know, and he routes somebody up.
You know, I think Chris Godwin looked like Derek Henry at a couple different points
with the stiff arm and stuff.
So, you know, Bucky Irving is Buck, Buck, Bucky Irving.
I thought Baker looked as good as he's looked in a while.
So I think the OC box is checked, but you can't do all the shit you did.
And so here we're going to talk about the team that won the game and the Bengals.
And I think the Bengals are going to be very good.
They're hard to get off the field on third down.
They were hard to get off the field on third down yesterday.
T. Higgins is incredible.
That goes without saying.
But I just, one of the smoothest looking players in the NFL is so fun to watch.
Yesterday, that game-sealing catch over the middle of the field was just spectacular.
There's only a couple guys in the league that can make that catch.
Not that I'm raising jellyfish.
What did he do?
He killed his jellyfish?
He randomly wanted to have jellyfish in his house, and he said he got it, and he didn't
know how to effectively, yeah, clean the tank because you can't have a regular filter for jellyfish
because they're like flimsy.
and he said it stunk up his entire house.
Oh.
And then he said he just got rid of him.
Where did he be?
He put him outside.
No, my God.
I don't know.
But when he's not raising jellyfish, he's pretty fucking good at football.
And this kid, 81, the Bengals receiver, it's early, I'll get him.
But dangerous with the ball in his hands.
Yes.
Jet sweep, perimeter screen for a bunch of yards.
I really liked what I saw from him.
They've got some webinars, man.
Dante Myers.
Yeah, Dante Myers.
And then Gaseki, you know, obviously you're going to have Yoshivas.
Chase Brown, to me, is one of the most underrated players in the league, running backs in the league.
He's a really good zone runner.
And I love the way they varied the looks.
You know, they were under center a lot more.
You heard about that in camp.
They ran like an insert playoff or inside zone playoff motion out of eye near.
and, you know, like, the looks they get to
and samples a good guy that you can move around
as a tight end, as a move guy, as a fullback.
Like, they really do have everything you need
to be successful offensively.
A lot of people kind of pigeonhole their offensive line
as being bad.
And we talked about this coming in.
It's such a lazy take
because they got better last year.
And I think Mims especially is a stud for them.
I'll get to the Bain matchup in a little bit here.
But, like, I thought Mims just look like
like an all pro type guy. He's got the physical tools. I mean, he really, I'm trying to watch him
through the lens of a rusher. It's hard to figure out what your rush plan would be. He's got such
great length, strength. He's a factor in the run game. So I thought it was good, man. And I said
coming in like, hey, Tampa's front is going to be a good test for these guys. But they pass the test.
And I also think maybe Tampa's front's not who we thought they were. I think the edge group's
probably a little bit more of a work in progress than we thought.
So ultimately help them out either that like what, Vita Vaya just started practicing one last week.
No question.
They need some time to mold and get that together.
And hopefully they'll be a little bit more productive.
Joe got the ball out too.
Yeah, no question, which is tough.
And, you know, like the positives with Tampa to me, I thought the corners looked good.
That was a tall task.
I thought Morrison tackled his ass off.
It's a great thing to have is a sure tackling corner who puts his face in the fan, as Al Groh would say.
And he's one of those guys.
You know, McCollum had some moments, but I thought he was good, and it's good to see him perish and the whole gang out there.
You know, like it's been a work in progress, and if everybody can stay healthy, you know, Bowles was giddy last year about the main corners that he had.
He's got those guys now.
They're a year older.
the linebacking corps is immediately better. Trotter had some some some hiccups but the sequence where he's a
penetrator on a sack and he jumps into the window to pick six borough was awesome like where they
were last year at linebacker they were light years ahead and Anzolone had some some tricky reps and
coverage that I think he'll be better on you know but he he knows where to be and he's got good instincts
we know who he is.
And they played an opportunistic style of football.
You know, they really did, you know, creating that turnover and just they did enough to keep
them in the game.
So the defense, listen, they're playing T. Higgins and Jamar Chase and Joe Burrow.
That's going to be tough.
But I thought they improved.
I don't chase.
But here's what I will say.
Ruben Bain and we, listen, I'm.
I'm fine to be wrong about this one.
I don't want to say I'm wrong yet,
but I don't think he's where I thought he was.
Now, he played Mims,
who Mims is like the worst possible matchup for him.
Like, you want to talk about where the arm length feels like.
I didn't have as short arms as Bain,
but there were times where guys made me feel that way,
you know, where I just couldn't, I couldn't figure it out.
Like, you know, it's just, it's hard to get on an edge.
It's hard to, when the ball's getting out quick,
it's hard to, he's a phone booth guy, Bain.
And he's got to learn himself.
at the pro level he's kind of rushing like he's still in college some of that like you know that um
that just dip and rip the the ghost move stuff like that's off the menu bane take it off the
menu you're a phone booth guy get get to the phone booth quickly and figure out how to stay out of
the bear trap you know like and and so the one thing i looked at in bane is i don't think he looked
as twitchy as i thought he was going to look so he's going to have to play with angles he's going to
have to get tighter and he's going to have to just learn the trade it's a different trade at the
pro level the athletes are bigger stronger quicker and longer and i do think he can forge a nice career
and be a factor for sure but early in this season it kind of looks like he's still a work in progress
so um you need some of the other guys to step up as well and i think they will
am i crazy to think that maybe the buck should have waited
to week six to give baker his contract after running out for so long no you know what's funny about
baker is he got that deal and immediately he he he hands the ball off and goes and tries to block
the fuck out of somebody he's like he's like well i'm i'm you know i got my money this money's guaranteed
but the but the but the but the one thing i wanted to say is uh and this is an interesting
tweet from jeremy rock uh what if i told you joe burrow had to pick six to march
Chase had 12 yards receiving and the Buccaneers never punted in the Bengals won.
That is what the Bengals had been bad at in September, winning football games,
finding a way to win.
So to me it wasn't as much about like the performance as it was, like find a way to win.
And I know they almost let the bucks back in the game.
I'll say.
Recovered what, like four fumbles?
Yes.
So it's a variable outcome.
But I just want to say the Bengals defense got better.
They were better in the second half of last year.
They paid Cook.
He forced the fumble.
you know Jonathan Allen looked rejuvenated dude like he looked totally different than the guy
I've seen play the last year or two got sexy dexie um dexter Lawrence he was disruptive I mean I think it was
mock the right guard was in survival mode on the fucking baker fumble at the goal line Lawrence had him
had him just hemmed up dude um so I you know like there's a lot of positives the young linebackers
are growing up for for Sincy people wanted to run them off
the field last year. I thought they, they got talent. And so I think the Bengals got better, man.
I do. And I think the Bucks got better. Yeah. You know, if they're healthy. So, yeah, it was a fun
game to watch. The next game is going to be a zone ad read. The next game is going to be a zone ad read.
In the one thing I want to say before we do is ad read, because we already talked about the Panthers
and the Bears really briefly.
The Devin Bush
Blitz
is why I wish we had film.
Go look at the
just Google Devin Bush Blitz.
It's one of the saddest blitzes
I've ever seen, dude.
It is, it is
Q Sarah McLaughlin.
It was insane, dude,
that he just got folded like a chair.
Oh, I think I did.
Slowly, too.
Yeah.
He went to bowl the guard, I think it was, or maybe it was a running back for that matter,
and he just slowly got folded backwards.
That gave me PTSD.
Oh, man.
Because, like, low-key, when I told my ACL, I feel like, I imagine, like, that's how I was falling.
Like.
Yeah, it happens in, like, slow-low.
You know, and I was going to say, hey.
Did he get hurt or no?
No.
I was going to say, miraculously, I was going to say, hey, man, that's going to be fun in the
film room, but not on a week where you give up 30, 40 points, dude. It's going to be quiet.
Or it's going to be like, what the fuck is this? Like, what is this, dude? Like, what is this?
I've never seen anything like it. Okay, let's get to the, uh, the zone ad read.

Goodness gracious.
We've got to talk about this Ravens offense.
I don't, I got to go back and give it a second look.
because this is one of the games I haven't been able to get the All-22,
but watched it in real time.
And I don't want to be hyperbolic,
but that is the most efficient I have seen a Ravens offense look.
I'm not saying they haven't looked awesome in the past.
I'm not saying Lamar hasn't been incredible in the past.
He's fucking MVP.
He looked great.
He looked healthy.
What he was last year is not who he's going to be this year.
And I'm really happy for him.
And I'm happy for the fact that they have what I think is,
a legitimate stud at OC because it looked like the Ben Johnson offense with a Humvee in the backfield,
dude. It's like what they have in Chicago, but you swap out Caleb Williams for a guy who's won the
MVP, who creates a totally different problem for defenses. And you've got Derek Henry,
who looked ageless, as always. Now, it's week one, and a lot can happen. And Zay Flowers got hurt,
and Lane got hurt and we'll see if those guys are back pretty quickly.
I think Flowers is probably going to be back quickly.
It was free money betting the Flowers prop for over yards, over catches, whatever it was.
One of the biggest deficiencies when you looked at the Colts in the off season was their play in the slot.
And that showed up.
That showed up big time.
And for the Colts, like, I got to say, it's a win.
and that Daniel Jones didn't look awful off the Achilles, and they'll be better.
That's a good defense they played.
The Ravens are one of the best couple teams in the AFC, for sure.
If I came out of yesterday, who are the elite teams in the AFC?
Like, it's the two teams we talked about earlier.
It's the Ravens.
It's, I'm leaving somebody off, and he's going to say the Jags right outside that group, in my opinion.
Because they don't have the history that these groups do.
but but this in the bangles this team here is going to be hard to beat the difference between the
ravens of you know hopefully this year and in years past is they can carry that regular season
dominance into the playoffs you look at how last year's week one ended where they blew that huge
lead that didn't happen today or yesterday and that that's a big deal like to finish that game on a
strong note you lost some weapons as the game went on the offense stalled a little bit
And you found a way to keep the Colts at bay.
And the Colts have some good football players.
But I got to say, the Colts look like painfully average to me.
Like just, and I don't want to, that's, I don't overreact, but the Colts look painfully average.
It really, they look like an incomplete team.
And, and, you know, you look back at last year and nobody shredded men are like Steichen,
but that didn't carry over.
It just didn't carry over.
And, and so I, for the Ravens,
there's a lot of good man like like uh how am i saying his his name vega venga yawane yawane
yo wanna you you wanna see them run behind him you wanna run o's like honestly they found a guy there so
there's just a lot to be excited about if you're a ravens fan i gotta say and the the new uniforms
look good i think new uniforms look good so think about those facts the purple numbers you see that
Yeah.
That was different, right?
That's not, are the numbers usually black or is it a darker purple?
I think it's a variation.
We were sitting, we couldn't figure in this yesterday.
Something was different.
He's colored black.
Some was different.
He doesn't see color.
Sorry, Tim.
Literally.
It looked like a brighter purple.
It did look good.
It looked good.
And, you know, I'm excited to roll back the tape on, you know, Tavius Robinson,
Trey Hendrickson, and the pass rush.
You know, there's just a lot to be excited about with this,
And I'm kind of sad for Colts fans because they did just pay Daniel Jones that bag.
And I kind of want to see Riley Leonard get a little bit more of a shake to get in there
and maybe make that offense look a little bit different.
Like, I don't know.
Like, I mean.
It's Riley Leonard, Tom.
Like, maybe it is.
Like, maybe it is.
Like, sometimes you need, like, one little change to spark, like, that kind of,
makes a trickle-down spark they do have some weapons no for sure like they have some weapons
like if pierce is healthy and you know the big tight ends of stud and the running backs of stud
and downs was really good in some spots yesterday like they have some weapons they miss pitman
but but i don't i i i just don't see it like i just don't see it like and and with a defense like
that that just has some like what is your strength it's corner but outside of that like what is your
strength like what like what what do you do really well the other thing i got to say is that that that
lamar jackson shrug off of the the sack was like third that is the most inchers lamar play i mean
he just looked really comfortable and he looked like he was running an offense not the offense
being like lamar go make a play slippery and and that to me is that to me is what we've been waiting
to see i still feel like something with lamar doesn't get appreciated enough is how good of a straight
pocket passer he is and he was great dual threat like the whole thing but i mean yesterday you saw with
the way they scheme the the middle of the field the passing game 82% completion 161 yards a touchdown
149.1 rating he was awesome and the drop back passing yeah i wouldn't argue with you if you said i got
i got i got i got a bet that that that uh lamar MVP ticket because uh he he looked lamar so yeah worried about
Zay.
Zay got to like hamstrings with guys, explosive, guys like that.
Right.
You've got to make sure you nip that in the bud.
And maybe if he does have to sit out more than two games, you let him do that just
so you guys don't have to deal, keep dealing with it.
Because if he's going to be explosive like that, man, the Ravens' offense is going
to be like, I mean, another year, like always during the regular season, Lamar finds a way
to put up points with whoever he has on that offense.
but if Zay's going to have a year, if there's any indication to how this year might go,
the Ravens are going to be scary.
I think that was a tailor-made spot for him to go off.
But, yeah, I think other teams will be able to take him away a little bit better.
But again, then you've got to make the corners pay outside.
And Lamar's got the arm to do that.
And, you know, like, the other thing is Nate Wiggins played his ass off.
Yep.
And, you know, like having a corner like that,
It just unlocks a lot for you.
And, you know, Jesse Mentor last year in L.A.,
coach those corners up to be better than probably what they are.
And I'm not saying the book is written on the 2006 Chargers defense,
but what I am saying is he's going to elevate all those guys in the secondary.
You know, and I think if you can get great play out of Starks,
we know who Kyle Hamilton is.
Roquant had a pick yesterday.
Humphrey.
Humphrey.
Humphrey, I wanted to see Humphrey look like a different guy than he was yesterday.
And a lot of that was probably scheme and part of it was probably health and that sort of thing.
People were using the W word, which is washed.
He didn't look like that yesterday.
So there's a lot to be excited about.
I think a lot of it.
And you didn't have Matt of BK.
Right.
So there's a, or Buchanan.
So there's a lot to be excited about.
And the pass rush is really what this hinges on.
Can these rushers be real pluses?
We know who Trey Hendrickson is.
Can the other guys Robinson Young?
Matabike, we know who he is.
Can all these guys kind of add up?
And Kyle Hamilton factors in there too.
No question.
Some edge blitz is with him yesterday.
No question.
Imagine if that Trey would have went through, if they had Crosby?
Yeah, the Crosby thing would have really elevated them.
But, you know, if they get good play out of Trey, they're not having to part with all those picks.
For sure.
And they probably feel like they got away with them.
one there, which they did, in my opinion.
So, um, all right.
So we, we've got, we're almost the AFC.
Cardinals Chargers, I've seen parts of this game.
You know, we had it on the side TV.
It was everybody's teaser in the 4 PM slate, right?
Everybody's like, that's not going to happen.
I told you the Cardinals before the season.
I'm, I'm going to, I'm going to say, hey, on one end of it, I feel like it's getting a little
little late for.
the chargers to act like this.
Like we keep saying, hey, like,
chargering is a verb, dude. It's a little
early in the season to start chargering.
I know that you've changed your scheme.
And I know, listen, you got a punt
blocked.
There was a fourth and goal to go.
They didn't cash in on. They lost McConkey.
Their yards per pass
went from nine to four
yards per pass, like cut in half and then
some. You know,
I thought Herbert made a huge mistake
not hitting that dig on the intercept.
digs wide open he goes for the jugular i don't think he was awful at all now i'm not going to sit
here and fight people on the herbert reputational thing because i'm i'm in wait and see mode here i do
think this football team's going to be better than what they showed the question for me is going to be
more the defense you know they had a hard time running the ball hampton fumbled they shit down their
leg be better next week but the cardinals the cardinals are like listen it's game one this is the
classic, don't overreact.
But when you look at the skill guys they have outside,
I think Marvin Harrison Jr. is going to be a lot better
than people have pegged him to be early in his career.
He's also been more productive than people want to give him credit for.
You've got to take care of the drops.
It's amazing what, again, these fucking preseason videos
that you see on your timeline, look at this super cut of the Cardinals
who can't beat an NFL team.
We're going to take all their bad plays from training camp
and put it in a super cut, right?
You know, or I'm falling for the Ruben Bain thing.
Ruben Bain's working people out and practice and that sort of thing.
And then Mims erases them.
You know, it's just go down the list of the hype trains
and the training camp narratives that just get busted.
And the Cardinals' narrative that we wanted to put to the forefront was they've got good skill players.
And, you know, last night we were talking about who's a league average quarterback?
Not a median.
League average.
And Brissette's name was thrown in there.
League average can win you games with the guys you have outside there with McBride,
win with Wilson.
You know, they really do and love who they're kind of,
they're kind of babying into it because of the ankle and that sort of thing.
But they have some explosive players on their offense.
And the way they were getting the ball out quickly,
that definitely bodes for more success.
Now, I'm not saying they're going to win games,
but I think Nick Rawless, who, you know,
when they retained him to be the D.C.,
When LaFleur retained him to be the D.C., I think a lot of people said, well, why is he here?
You know, Gannon leaves, and they retained D.C., and I thought they did a good job yesterday.
So, you know, pass rush for them is going to be a question mark.
It just is.
But shout out to my man, Dante Stills, who had a big sack in the red zone.
I play with his dad, Gary Stills.
And that's some shit that makes me feel pretty old.
But Gary Stills was one of my OGs.
And just an all-time, great.
dude and I think Dante Stills has done a really good job in Arizona.
Not a guy that a lot of people have paid attention to, but a solid player for them.
And so it was good to see him get home.
The Chargers, you just got to prove it, man.
Nobody's going to sit here anymore and ever react to wins or losses.
Like, I'm just going to sit here dispassionately and make you prove it.
And honestly, if I wanted one thing back from my preseason predictions, I'm not going to do it.
but I'm just telling you the thing that made me the most worried,
without having dove deep into this game yet,
that worries me.
The Cowboys thing worries me, right?
That worries me.
The Patriots worry me, right?
And you look at this third AFC wildcard spot,
which I kind of have Chargers penciled into,
I think it's going to be a lot more interesting than we thought.
And there's some other teams that have played a lot better than we anticipated.
And I think one of them we're going to see tonight,
that everybody thinks is going to be very good is Denver, right?
And Kansas City could be in that wildcard spot.
And, you know, obviously one team in the AFC North, I think, is probably going to occupy
a wild card spot.
And we got a long way to go.
But the Chargers, they got a tough schedule.
So they need to fucking giddy up a little bit.
They're going to play, I think, the Raiders next week.
You got to win that game.
Have to.
Like, I don't want to call it a must win, but it's kind of a must win.
Like early.
Like, that 0-2 start, like, it just starts to put that monkey on your back early.
you don't need.
It's kind of a must plan.
They play home against Las Vegas.
Then they go at Buffalo, at Seattle,
home as Denver at Kansas.
But you know what?
Ironically,
I think the Denver matchup and the Kansas City
matchups are matchups, they feel like
they can win.
But this bullshit
that happened yesterday, I mean, like,
you know, because now it's one of those
things where you lose next week, you
might start out the season, I won four.
Yes.
And that is,
not good trying to crawl back from O and four.
No, if that happens, it's going to be kind of...
And it's crazy how different one in three
versus O and four is.
But shout out to Mike LaFleure.
Yep.
You know, just his first game,
for that group to look like that
with the expectations they had,
and a lot of people are laughing at the Chargers,
but those same people were laughing at the Cardinals, right?
So unless you were on the Cardinals train, you know, like...
I said, what if somehow
Marvin Harrison, dad, like his spirit, like somehow jumps into him.
It's like six, a six-man situation?
Yeah, a six-man situation.
The crime during that movie.
And like he became becomes like Y receiver one down there, like the guy that they
wanted for production drafted.
Cardinals could be a little scary.
Yeah, I don't know.
They can be a little scary.
They still, like you said, on defense, but if you could become a team that could just
put up points.
Yeah.
You could, you could win a couple of games that way for sure.
So in a couple minutes we got Nick Foles, and we are ahead of schedule here.
The question is, would we like to skip ahead and do Lion Saints maybe before Nick pops on?
Let's catch some Lion Saints.
Let's catch some Lion Saints.
He's going to join us in a couple minutes here.
But you getting in Shuck tonight?
Dude, I thought Chuck.
Oyster season.
I thought Shuck showed me something.
Now, I'm not saying he was good all game.
He was bad in the first half.
I want to keep him and Noah Fant, like, far away from each other.
Like, they are on the different pages of the book.
Noah Fan needs to look at the syllabus.
You got to keep them together all the time.
Yeah, you know, they can meet other meals together.
Yeah, maybe they need to hang out more because, like, both of the picks, fans in the area.
I think one of the picks on the Outbreaker was a miscommunication.
but I think the one where Fant tried to sit down and avoiding the zone,
and I would have given Shuck a little bit more leeway here
if he hadn't thrown it right to Barnes, I think it was.
You know, like you got to put that,
you got to put that on freaking Fant's left shoulder there.
But he threw it right to Barnes.
So the one thing I'll say about Shuck is he came into the game
and he looked like he was he had happy feet man he was the footwork wasn't great and he was a little bit
they got a bunch of edge blitz like slot blitz is early in the game the aggressiveness quotient
was really high um you know i think for detroit who impressed me with their physicality they
shut down the run game tiley Williams played well he played physical i haven't think uh the the the kid
skyler gill howard is that his name the the the the little guy who's he's not he's not he's more diminutive for
three tech but but he did a really good job you're going to be able to play him he's playable uh
aline mcnele's a stud dude and hutch was dominant so you look at that front a group that doesn't have
branch um they're also missing um freaking herbie joseph so like there are two guys in the secondary
and they're always accustomed to to to fighting through depth issues in the secondary it just feels
like that team that's always had to deal with it.
I think those guys
not being spot starters this week.
It's week one. They had time to prepare.
You saw guys stepping up.
They played a physical brand of football.
They brought the pressure.
I think what happened was,
and both things can be true.
Shuck improved as the game went on,
and I think their game plan improved as the game went on.
They made adjustments.
They spread them out a little bit more.
You know, and they stopped trying to pound the ball
teeth of defense. But I think more than anything, Detroit got a little less aggressive.
And Shuck hit some balls, like a deep ball to Olive, that kind of just upped his confidence.
And he made some nice throws in the red zone. And, you know, Joanne Johnson is going to be good
for them, especially without wide receiver two in the building in Tyson. So I was disappointed
a little bit in the offensive line. You know, I was disappointed in the run game. I think those
things will be better.
You got to remember it's Shuck's 10th start.
You know, and I did see footwork issues and miscommunications.
There was also another miscommunication that didn't end in a pick.
So I don't know if their side adjustments are a little bit out of whack, but it takes time.
And again, I want to give credit to Detroit's defense.
I cannot believe Cardinal Sin Alert, there was one play where they full slide away from Aiden
Hutchinson and had the running back Miller pick him up.
How does that happen?
I mean, that's like...
Coach, I got him.
That's like giving, that's like giving, that's like, no, but that's like giving the rich a tax break, man.
Like, you don't, he doesn't need that look.
I mean, it's your first.
He's going to get home anyways, dude.
I mean, it's your, it's the first game.
You got to see what your running back has.
Like, if he makes that block, it maybe opens up the playbook for the, for the rest of the year.
It opens up the playbook.
I don't care.
They need to close that, that page on the playbook.
I don't care to ever know if my running back can make that block.
That was bad.
Never try it.
I do, I do want to say.
you know, Lyons offense looks strong.
I have concerns about barge at left guard,
which seems like that could be an issue.
But he's better front side than he is backside.
He's not going to be able to block backside zone.
Like, he's not athletic enough,
but he definitely gets movement front side,
and he's playing next to Penny Sewell,
who I just want to say,
for everybody thinks sides don't matter,
he switched to the left side,
and Chase Young was getting after him a little bit.
I, for the life of me,
and I will talk to our friend Nick Foles in a moment about this,
can't figure out the explanation on that sack fumble.
Nick might freak inside with the quarterbacks,
but I'm looking at that,
and since Jesus was a baby, that's a fumble.
And there were some questionable calls elsewhere around the league,
but that one to me as a pass rusher was kind of like confusing.
And that's six points off the board for them,
but I think the lions really what ended up happen
as they play with their food a little bit.
I thought Jared Gough looked good,
thought the run game looked good,
more varied, more duo, less outside zone.
and they went at 29 the corner for New Orleans and some big spots.
Went to Riley.
Yeah, Riley.
So, you know, this was, hey, the lion's ceiling is high this year.
I think this could be a lot more like what they looked like a couple years ago.
I mean, they really did look good.
And I think Petting is going to be a win for them.
Shuck, he showed me something, man.
He showed me something late in that game.
New Orleans is going to be a tough out.
Red Hot Chili Peppers Fan 21 in the chats.
That's a good name, dude.
You have our attention.
Yeah.
They said that Shuck stated the E-Course Airbnb,
and that's why he was...
Yeah, he did.
They had him in E-course, so...
This was an exciting game, man,
and I like New Orleans' decision
to go for two at the end of the game.
Why not?
You're on the road, you're playing a better team.
You go for two.
You can't run the ball.
You're going to overtime.
Like, just do it.
And they did it.
And you might need that win in the NFC Wild Car.
Exactly, dude.
Exactly.
So, without further ado,
I can't wait to welcome our good friend, Nick Foles.
He's going to join us to talk Eagles, Rams, a couple things.
You got to check out his podcast, dude, this season, S-ZN, presented by Yeti.
His co-host Evan Moore is pretty damn good, too.
I'm not just saying this because he's my buddy.
Nick's got to, I mean, you saw him on TV.
He's got a bright future in this, and, you know, he sees the field differently than rockheads like me.
So it's really good to have him on the show.
dude.
What's up, man?
Thanks for the introduction.
Yeah.
I look forward to talking some ball.
Let's talk ball, dude.
But first off, are you still jet lagged?
I'm doing good.
It's funny.
Like, right before I left, Evan and I got a show in before I left Australia.
And it's crazy because I left at like 2.30 or like 215 in the afternoon, Australia.
And then I landed in California like 240 the same day.
But I had been traveling for like 18 hours.
but I got home, you know, three little kids, as you know, dad season, mom season,
and we were just crushing it.
So I, no naps, just got back on my bedtime, great supplementation, great discipline.
I look forward right after this, I'm going to get my first workout in like a week.
It's been a grinder, so I can't wait to get a little workout in, pump some weights,
maybe run on the tread a little bit.
Well, dude, you look great on TV, even in the kangaroo suit, man.
I was, I was, we were all, all the birds and birds fans were beaming with,
probably there's our boy so uh what was it like doing the tv thing there's a lot of fun um we got
out there last tuesday um got to you know clay matthews and i walked around the town the first day
because they let us acclimate a lot of coffee a lot of coffee the first day great coffee shops
in melbourne is how they pronounce it there no i've been butchering um and but honestly a lot of fun
um a lot of preparation a lot different than i thought it would be going into a kickoff show
half time show post game two hour kickoff shows a long show but every all our thoughts are a lot we
have to prepare it on our own and then you have to be pretty concise and insightful and potent in a
short amount of time and then yeah l did a great job of everything flowing i felt like as a group we just
we have great camaraderie being young and there it was a lot of fun working with michael and clay
um and just a really cool experience uh it would be really tough to do it every single week yeah uh because
there's a lot of prep going in.
But we'll have four primetime games.
And I look forward to, you know, to it because I had so much fun with my team there.
Dude, Michael Irvin is one of my favorite human beings in football.
I mean, he's just energy in a bottle.
Yes.
He is.
It's funny because when we, when we did our mock, our mock practice round in Connecticut,
Clay actually sat where I sat in the show, which is next to Michael.
and I was next to L.
And Clay loved being next to L.
I did too when I did the mock,
but they switched it around.
But when you're next to Michael,
he has so much energy at times
that it rubs off on you.
Yes.
Even the like,
I don't know if I make that America's team comment
if Michael's not sitting right next to me.
But I want to have fun with Michael.
And then Clay and I being rooks in it,
we know it's confirmation that we're doing a good job
if Michael's laughing at us and having a good time with us.
No question.
No question.
If he does something,
we're like,
okay,
what we said was good.
It wasn't bad.
If he's silent,
that's not good.
And then L's just bringing the energy and navigating us knuckleheads.
And it really works because no one at that table has an ego with one another.
L's like our mother hen trying to put us in a position to succeed.
Michael's giving us great advice, bringing the energy.
Clay and I really cared and spent a lot of time prepping together.
Even when we were walking around Melbourne, we were going through like what we were talking about.
Hey, all right, he loved the New Orleans Saints.
This is why I was going to talk about the Eagles.
this is why and we just practice for an extra like six to eight hours throughout it because we wanted
to be we wanted to give all the fans some insight and put on a good show um but i haven't felt those
type of emotion since being a player yeah i was going to say what's what's what's harder like
like producers in your ear while you're trying to talk and you know you're on live tv or you know
somebody in your headset uh i mean honestly it's pretty similar just i was used to it i think it's
probably did Clay had Clay had the greeting dot because he played Mike
linebacker a few years in Green Bay when they were they were short there but it is
different when they're like rap rap rap or going to commercial going to commercial but
fortunately when I was speaking I never had to speak over someone in my ear
L had to several times but she's a pro at it um I think it's just you have you know
you have so many segments so we had 12 acts in the kickoff coverage we had all these
different things different commercials we're moving outside
to I'm going to the set with Noah and Luke,
then I'm going to the stage around fans.
I think the feeling going into this was similar to game day
because it's about execution, right?
Yeah.
A lot of fans think football is about the physicality, which that's part of it.
But so many of the emotions and the adrenaline and the stress you feel is just focused on extreme execution at a high level.
on your your your your first gig you're you're off the ground man and and you call it a couple
things on this show i think um you i think you called the nineers winning did you call the nineers
winning i did when i was prepping for this year i i was looking at all the details i don't
everyone likes looking i don't say everyone most people just look at the analytics and the stuff
that really sticks out miles garrett aaron donald uh the new the new trit mcduffy jeline watson
Like, oh, their defense, like, we're doing nicknames on the show of, like, what this legendary, as you know, being a defensive player, you need to prove it on game day, right?
So there was so many things I was going into prepping.
And then when Bosa was healthy, kiddle was healthy, I had enough in research to say and experience that the 49ers are going to find a way to win this game.
And it really came down to that fourth and one.
It did.
The Rams don't run Cubey sneak with a 38-year-old quarterback that was 0 for 2.
He was the NFL MVP, but he was 0 for two in quarterback sneaks last year.
That might be a different ball game.
Yeah.
And then they go 99 yards.
But I will say this, the Niners just flat out beat him, played a great game.
The Rams are going to be 100% fine.
Yes.
It's a division matchup, but the Rams are going to be fine.
Yeah, dude, when you look at that matchup, like, there was a time where people forget
Shanahan was, he owned that matchup.
And, you know, it swung the other way.
But, you know, we'll talk about the jet lag and all that stuff.
But I think on the field.
the things that were most striking to me.
One was, and I texted Nolan this during the game,
I said, Miles doesn't look as explosive.
You know, and I didn't want to say,
is he dinged, but, you know, it's kind of the insinuation there
when you make a statement like that.
It is Trent Williams,
but you look back at their matchup last year,
Trent and Miles, it was as advertised.
You know, part of that is Brock's going to get the ball out
in two and a half seconds,
and they're throwing a lot of different looks at them.
The other thing I noticed was, you know,
the Rams secondary is you assume because they're,
go get McDuffie and Watson that these guys are going to be plug and play and it's just going to be
easy and Shula he's a good defensive coordinator but they run a lot of zone those guys are used to
playing more man I thought the guy's in the slot and in those hook curl windows kind of got
stressed a little bit and you know nobody's better at opening windows than Shanahan so you know
they kind of it was death by a thousand paper cuts in that way and then the other thing for me was
Matt Stafford didn't play well and and you mentioned the fourth and one
I think that's what the game kind of came down to, and I agree with you.
But the Niners were, they looked better and more prepared.
And the truth is, the Niners probably have more Blue Chip players when they're healthy.
They do.
They have Warner.
They have McCaffrey.
They have Bosa.
You know, go down the list.
The Rams made some big acquisitions and got the hype machine behind them,
but I think people forgot how good the Niners are, myself included.
I didn't forget, but I just kind of this year assumed that,
Hey, it was going to be hard without the weapons outside.
They also got some production out of DeMarcus Robinson.
They lost stribling, but they still found a way to, you know,
get the ball to a bunch of different players.
I was really impressed with Rahim Morris's defense, though.
What did you see from Rahim's defense that kind of maybe threw the Rams for a loop?
I mean, we knew that he was going to bring pressures
and just making Matthew Stafford uncomfortable,
whether it be pressures or that defensive front getting there.
But, I mean, I think the biggest thing is Fred Warner.
He didn't get talked about enough.
Just him being out there running the show, the quarterback of the defense.
It's funny.
In the pregame, we were trying to find him.
My agent sent me a text.
And he's like, hey, y'all didn't talk about Fred enough.
I was like, I was supposed to talk about Fred and Wormos,
but we couldn't find him in Wormwoods for the camera.
And I had this line.
I'm going to use it right here.
It's like, if you Google the best linebacker in the NFL, you know whose name pops up.
It's Fred Warner.
And so all-time leading tackler in 49er history, having him out there running the show.
Bosa was fantastic.
When Clay and I were in the green room, we were talking before the games,
and man, Nick Bosa coming off this injury, first game back, this is what's going on.
I don't expect him to be what he was yet.
Yeah.
First play of the game, he makes his presence known.
And I thought Nick Bosa, we both thought Nick Bosa was fantastic.
So having Nick Bosa out there to create pressure on Matthew Stafford,
and that defense played outstanding versus this Rams juggernaut of an offense led by NFL MVP Matthew Stafford.
But the Niners, you said it best.
There's no one better than Kyle Shanahan to open up windows.
When I was doing research for this, I never played for Kyle.
But I talked to guys that did.
I'm like, why is he such an elite game planner?
Because everyone's trying to run his plays.
The difference is they don't have Kyle Shanahan teaching and calling the plays.
So that's the difference.
Yes.
He said he knows exactly what everyone's.
responsibility is on the defense and the game plan, there's no wasted plays. Everything is
calculated and everything is designed to create stress on the defensive responsibility on the
other side of the ball. There's never a playoff. There's never a waste at play. Everything they do is
with a purpose to stress the responsibilities so they cannot be right. Listen, I've played for a lot of
coaching staffs. I've been on some that I feel like like the Eagles one that we won the Super Bowl
outstanding game planning, but most of the time I'm on coaching staffs where they're looking
looking at plays the week before, oh, what did Kyle Shanahan run?
Let's run that play.
And when we run it, it's like, hey, your foot works this.
And they're just installing the play.
They're not installing why this play is great.
Why?
Because Kyle Shanahan knows that stuff.
That's why he's great.
And when his team is healthy, they have a chance to go to Super Bowl.
The biggest thing throughout this year is, can they finally stay somewhat healthy?
And do they have depth?
Well, the defense answers some questions for me.
And you said at Fred Warner, I hit the Google machine.
At least got that right.
Fred Warner's won.
but it also reinforces.
I don't know that there's a positional player in the NFL
that there's a bigger delta between one and two
than at linebacker with Fred Warner.
They've got Roquan Smith second.
Executives were tasked with ranking offball linebackers.
Swessinger, I think, was three.
So, you know, it's such a weapon.
And Nick, maybe you can speak to this,
but I think the battle for the middle of the field in the NFL
has, like, ramped up over the past five, seven years.
and it feels like it's because of these Shanahan-type offenses.
So if you don't have good backers,
you're going to run into teams that can really exploit you.
What do you do when Fred Warner's in the middle game planning for like the Niners?
I mean, you're trying to do things that are keeping the ball away from him.
You're trying to make him uncomfortable, which is hard to do.
And you say like a lot of things are in the middle of the field.
A lot of people are running in split safety defenses,
where it's, you know, eight years ago because Seattle's defense was so good,
the Legion of Boom, or maybe it was 10 years ago with how much time's gone further.
It was a, that was a post safety.
Now we're at the split safety, Vic Fangio type of defense where everything's coming from a shell.
So you need that Mike Linebacker to call and play in the middle of the field.
So, I mean, Fred is outstanding in coverage.
He's outstanding in run game support.
He's responsibilities lining up.
And then obviously he makes the big play with punching the ball out.
He can do it all.
So having him out there healthy is huge for them.
Honestly, he's one of those guys that you just try to make sure he doesn't make too many big plays.
He's going to get his.
You know he's going to get his.
Just try to limit them.
Last thing I'll say about the Niners, Keon White really flashed.
And he's a guy that when he started his career for the Patriots, I think it was that Bengals game that opened the season two years ago.
And I said, man, like this guy's going to be really good.
And he kind of fell off the face of the earth.
Ends up in San Francisco.
He's going to help.
So the birds got a win yesterday.
I think everybody was holding their breath, waiting to see Sean Mannion's offense.
We had opined during the offseason about what we wanted to see from the offense,
working the middle of the field, you know, marrying your run looks with the play action,
the whole thing.
I thought there was encouraging stuff that they put on tape.
What say you after seeing one of these weeks of Sean Mannion's offense?
I think the key word that you just said is encouraging, right?
I mean, starters didn't play much in the preseason. Jalen Hurst didn't play.
I thought he played a great game.
I'll get into more of like what I saw.
I just, you know, I specifically just went through all the past plays for him right before the show because I watched the game.
But then when you can watch the past place, apart from everything else, you see things a lot more clearly.
So I'll get into that.
This offense has a long ways to go.
There's definitely a lot of details, especially with the offensive line, the interior.
was not good enough. There was
constant pressure
on Jalen from the interior front
to where he had to make them right with his legs
and a couple of times he couldn't. He just had to take the sack,
which is honestly smart in those situations because if you try to do
too much, you're going to put the ball in harm's way.
But that being said,
very encouraging week one.
It's exciting because it's a division opponent and the commanders.
Jay and Daniels is healthy.
I do think that
if this was their ceiling and they played perfect, I would be very worried.
But they're not anywhere close to it.
They have a long ways to go.
It's great that Sean Manning got this first one out.
But I'm excited to see what they do.
They have to get better, though.
This won't be good enough as the season goes on.
The defense is obviously solid, but they have areas to improve.
But I'm very pleased with the week one performance from the offense.
The way I just wanted to see Jalen look more like himself.
And I thought he looked more like himself.
obviously he's a great deep ball thrower you had the the wicks bomb uh you had another bomb to smitty on the
right side of the field when he when he separates and and you know you know he's going deep you feel like
something good is going to happen it hasn't always been the case in the middle of the field and sometimes
late in it down like finding an outlet i thought that they had more answers for him and and i'm encouraged
by wicks like wicks is a uva guy one of my best friends in the world was his wide receivers coach
and he's just a a hard working dude i philly fans you're going to love this guy he's a man-beater
He's going to compliment Smitty well.
I think Goddard prop was easy to smash yesterday.
It just felt like to me the seam ball was nice.
You know, he got Sonny Stiles turned around in coverage.
I thought there were some encouraging signs, but to your point, I don't know if Landon's right.
Like, he doesn't look right to me right now.
Something looks wrong. Yes.
Something looks wrong.
So is it a thing where if he's dinged, what happens?
You've got to start thinking a step ahead.
Like, is Lampkin going to play center?
Is Juergen's going to move around?
Like, I don't know what's going to happen there.
but I did see some shades of, you know, Sequin from two years ago on some of his jump cuts
and the big run that took him into Plus territory.
So I think you put it, they're going to have to get better, but it's a good start.
And, you know, the defense has got some things to work on.
I thought Washington, I made a comment last night about this Antonio Williams kid,
the third rounder they got out of Clemson.
Really, you came into the season, you said you've got to get better in the middle field.
I thought they did, clearly.
with Diggs and with him.
So there's some good stuff to take for both offenses.
Obviously, Washington took a while getting in the end zone.
Yeah, David Blow, first time offensive coordinator, right?
So it was the battle of the two first time offensive coordinators,
former NFL quarterback.
So I think the commanders are going to be,
they're in the same situation as the Eagles are, right?
Yeah.
Where they're just going to get better as the season goes on.
David Blow is going to get more comfortable.
But what I saw was exactly what we talked about,
Interior's got to be better.
It's great to see Sequin starting to get some of those big plays back.
There were several three outs, but I liked that there was explosive plays.
Yep.
Last year, there was not explosive plays.
There was no excitement.
And this offense with Kellyn Moore several years ago when they won the Super Bowl,
always was a threat for explosive plays.
I felt like last year, if an explosive play happened, everyone would be like, oh,
finally, thank goodness.
Yep.
What I saw throughout the course of this game is there wasn't a lot of, like, rhythm.
per se throughout the game,
but there was several explosive plays
that sort of changed the game, which is awesome.
You want explosive plays.
So let's go to the Wix throw.
Great pocket. You give Jalen Hertz a great pocket
and the Devante Smith go ball
on the right side where he faded him a little bit.
Clean pockets, he's going to be able to deliver the ball
down the field. There were several times
where the interior broke down and Jalen was able to get out of it.
One specifically where he kept doing a pirouette
and then got out. That should have been a sack
for like minus eight. He ended up
getting like 15 yards on the rush.
Like that was,
that was Jaylen Hurst.
Nick.
He looked quicker.
He looked quicker than last year.
I'm a big fan of Jalen Hertz.
I have been.
I think he's great.
He's a winner.
He is a winner.
We had him in our elite contenders category for quarterback tears.
I thought he played elite yesterday.
What's not,
it's funny because when you look at him throwing,
his throwing motion is always the same, right?
He doesn't change his arm angle much.
He reminds me a lot of Russell Wilson with his mechanics.
Great deep ball thor.
solid short ball throw.
The thing that with Jalen,
and this is not a criticism,
this is if I was as QB coach,
I would keep working on because this is the fall in his game.
And it was very apparent when I just watched the game back just passes.
He's got to find a way to get through progressions and key defenders.
What I saw was when he can be aggressive to number one,
he's outstanding.
But when number one is taken away,
he struggles getting through the progression,
and that's when he sort of looks down and runs around.
Now, he's so talented that he's going to make plays with his legs
and make it right, even when.
But if he can start keen, and this is like coaching,
like quarterback coach, if I'm there,
there's a couple times where he had this smash concept with an out,
like a whip route where basically it's an out for three steps,
whip back in.
It was verse two high zone.
If I'm looking at that,
You always ask yourself as a quarterback, who affects the concept.
All right.
Well, it's the interior defensive back, the nickel.
All right.
So I'm keying him.
All right.
He carries the corner route.
Who affects the next route?
My next route is the whip route.
It is the corner.
Well, we're booking the corner because we already have leverage on him.
He is outside the route.
And we're going and we're coming back in.
If you look at this concept twice in the game, they ran it.
First time he threw the corner route, he was triple covered.
And the underneath guy would have been,
the route he would have gotten probably, I think it was Mikey Lemon. He would have gotten a little
checkdown and probably ran for 20. And then the next time he worked the backside, which was an
end cut with a whip route verse too high. Those are where if he just keys the defenders and
goes to one, if he can get to one, two, three, I don't need him to get through five. No,
just get to one, two, three. That's it. His game takes off and the Eagles can't be beat.
where the Eagles are going to be in trouble is if he can't run,
like say a lower extremity injury or they do a really good job
keeping it in pocket and he's got to go through progressions.
That's where the offense is going to have a tough time.
But if he can just get to one, two, three and just key those defenders,
the guy's going to go into the elite category right away and the offense will be unstoppable.
Is that pure progression kind of the way you would teach things or is it full field?
Because like to me, what it sounds like is, hey, I don't need you to know if it's cover six
or you know cover nine or like what's going on here but i need you to go one two three maybe it's it's
a half field read it depends i mean there's times where you're reading so listen there's this is
i just opened up a can of warms everyone thinks you are reading you're reading routes like if you're
playing the video game you're reading routes you're not you know the routes you know the routes
i'm reading the routes on the video i'm reading i'm reading defenders yes so everyone always
ask me who you throw on the ball to and my answer is always I don't know and then I know you're
going to give me a weird look like I have four eyes on my forehead and what I'm going to say is
I don't know because the defense will tell me based on how they line up what coverage and alignment
and when the ball snapped I will know but until then I'm diagnosing everything yeah and once the
ball snapped I know and what I'm going to is what defenders affect the play and that's what I was
describing is that when he threw the smash whip concept it's
the nickel defender in the corner. The safety you're booked, he's so deep, your corner is going
to flatten. You're not worried about that. You're worried about the nickel carrying. And then what's
the corner to do? If the corner drops into the corner route, it's dead, so you come underneath.
Yes. So it's one of those things where it's just reading, there might be pure progressions.
It might be a, you're always reading a defender. It's a simple set, unless it's man coverage,
unless it's man coverage, then you're really going through your progressions. But if it's zone,
find the zone defenders, know what their responsibilities.
are. There was one time early in the play earlier in the game where he saw it could have been
interception where Dallas Goddard was running the out route and he threw it in front, but Dallas
stopped and it just sort of flew by the DB. Yeah. So in that, what Dallas is tied, and once I'm not in
the meeting room, but I know concepts, if he turns and sees a hard corner, he throttles down and
you're supposed to put it on them. So though there was several times throughout the game I felt like
because it's a new offense, there's a couple of miscommunications, perimeter blocking from the
receivers a few times was not great. Early in the game, Mackay Lemon gets that little screen.
They have numbers. Should be a big play. Unfortunately, Wix doesn't block the defender and it gets
blown up. So those are the areas where I'm like, there's always going to be areas they need to improve
on. But overall, a fantastic outing for Jalen Hertz and the Seagulls offense in week one. I was super
pleased with it. Man, he hit Wicks on that second touchdown or the touchdown in the corner of the end
So he threw the ball before he turned his head.
Like that's the kind of timing that you love to see.
And so, yeah, there was some positive.
The only other thing I want to ask you is,
and Nick's got me excited to go home and play Madden, bro.
Dude, I play, I'm trying to be a QV.
You know, I'm trying to, you know, think like Nick Foles, you know.
And I was reeling off.
I play with the Texans, and I had one 10 straight,
and I was getting addicted.
I had to, I drove my remote control into the studio,
and I said, read, I need you to hide this.
you know like because i don't even want to
because i've done it before where i've driven back in to get the remote control i said
read you need to hide it so i can't wait to get home and think like nick fulls on the PS
read those defenders i do bro that's what i do know where the concepts are read the defenders
that's how i do you got to feel it yeah i feel it it'll change your life as a quarterback don't
read the routes read the dain defenders let's go boy and then the last thing is cam ward
i didn't get a chance to watch i don't know if you saw any of cam ward but like have you seen cam ward
play early on in his career and like what do you think because that to me is i think he's got so much
talent there were there were comparisons to mahomes you know coming out not not saying he's going
to be mahomes but the way he processes things and you know big strong arm what do you see and
what does he need to do in year two especially with with with some dysfunction maybe around him i mean
you've been in some places where things weren't always great we were there together in st louis
Yes, St. Louis.
A lot of dysfunction.
But it made us better players.
We appreciated winning much more.
So there was a lot of positive.
Always find the positive.
With Cam Ward, unfortunately, I think I like the kid.
I like him.
Really liked watching him on the quarterback.
This is episodes I watched.
He's definitely talented.
Seeing what he did in college, even at times during his rookie season.
But the problem is his rookie season was really difficult, right?
A lot of pressure, a lot of hits, a lot of being uncomfortable, but fought through it.
really respect that he's going to be better for it.
It all starts up front, especially with these young quarterbacks.
The old line's got to dialed in.
Run games, the quarterback's best friend.
I think Kirk Sinetti said that for Indiana.
Having a threatening run game.
But for him, it's just acclimating the trusting the Brian Dayball offensive scheme
and this offensive line making sure that he's protected
and he can trust the pocket.
When that happens and he can start settling in,
sort of like we saw with Caleb Williams in year two with Ben Johnson.
I think we can see that from Cam Ward in this day,
the stable offense where he settles in,
he starts trusting it,
and then he can go and let his natural talent shine.
But that's going to be a progression throughout the course of the season.
I don't, week one was not that step, right?
There was pressure.
He was uncomfortable.
And you just, it's trust.
It's right now he's so used to,
oh, scramble in pocket, I got to move out of the pocket, make a play.
Caleb Williams was the same way last year.
And he's very talented that Cam Ward can do that too.
But when the pocket is clean, when you can sit in there and go through your progressions and deliver the ball,
it's going to help that offensive line out.
And your offense is going to take that next step to be in a really good offense,
which will help the team out.
You heard it from my dog, Super Bowl champ, Nick Foles, straight out of Earth City, Missouri.
We sit in a hot tub there like, man, hey,
It was like the movie Life, bro.
Dude, that hot tub was hot, too.
That thing was 112 degrees.
We were ready to go to the upper room, bro.
Hey.
Yeah, we got out of there, dude.
So shout out to Nick.
Appreciate you for coming on the show.
I mean, the season, legitimately a great show.
You like what you just heard.
You're going to get that in more with Evan Nick.
So appreciate you joining us.
And, of course, the season is presented by Yeti.
So shout out to our buddies at Yeti.
We've done some work with Yeti.
Come on, send us some coolers, man.
We're a backpacker.
Shout out to Nick, man.
Appreciate you, brother.
It's great to see you.
Go get some sleep.
Nah, man, I'm going to get a workout.
Sleep will be later.
Got to get that workout.
Coffee and shit.
This guy's crazy.
All right, boy, good to see you.
See you, bro.
Talk to you soon.
Yeah.
The goat right there.
That's what I told him.
I got it on the mic'd up.
It's on the mic'd up of the Super Bowl.
You're the goat, the goat, the goat.
They're looking at it.
Where's the goat's on the other side of the other side.
No, we got the goat, bro.
Yeah, dude. Nick's the man. He's doing great in the media. So appreciate him coming on.
The one thing I want to say, you know, we were going back, we were talking about the saints.
I want to mention Ellis was, Ellis is a force for them. Like, he's definitely going to help with what they want to do defensively.
I want to give credit to that defense. I know that Detroit had some spells in that game, but to me, that defense is a plus.
For the most part, they've got some things they've got to work on.
But I think that defense is quietly one of the stingier groups in the league in New Orleans.
So, all right.
So let's get to, let's get to this should be a shit show.
Let's talk about Vikings and Packers, the Hemingway game.
More of my former teammates making big plays.
Nick making a big play for us, Carson, making big plays for the Minnesota Vikings.
Oh, yeah.
Man, oh, man, you talk about, like, you couldn't wait.
It was like a Christmas present.
It's kind of a trendy pick.
Like, I'm on the Vikings to make the playoffs.
I was drinking the Kool-Aid a little bit,
and I almost wanted to spit it out.
When Kyle Murray, when he, that arm punt to start the game,
I was like, this is exactly what Kyler Murray does sometimes
where he just throws the ball of his back foot.
Honestly, he's going to see a lot of mugged up looks.
He's going to see a lot of pressure, man.
Like, you know, it just, and to start the game,
I'm sitting there saying as a guy who,
and, you know, in the NFC, there's team,
hey I picked the Lions to win the division
I did not pick the Bears or the Packers to be in the wild card
Would it shock me if the Bears were in the wild card not at all
But they you know they're a big 12 football team right now like they got to score 60
Because they're giving up 40 like excuse me a defensive guy
So I kind of like I got a thing for defense at times
But the Packers I'm sitting there watching the game and I'm saying to myself
I miss this didn't I I was lying in bed two nights ago after I didn't put a man
I'm saying damn these are the thoughts that are in my head
Last night I'm laying in bed thinking, what's Deion Walker doing right now?
Dude, is he at the club?
I hope he's at the night club with a tiny drink in his hand,
just sweating his ass off after that big plane ride home.
But a couple nights ago, what I'm thinking is,
damn, dude, I missed it on the Packers maybe
because I really do think Jordan Love is, I don't know if he's an elite quarterback,
but he's borderline, in my opinion.
And you see moments where they chunk off these explosives
and the way Matt LaFleur can call games
and undress people,
pre-snap, pause, but like, just kind of get the tells in the hands of the quarterback so he
knows where to go with the ball. He's as good as anybody at doing that. And I think Jordan Love's got a
huge, you know, he's got a cannon, dude. Like, he can make every throw. I know they don't have
Josh Jacobs now. I know the offensive line's a bit of a shit show, but it kind of like, when Christian
Watson caught that dig for 80 yards, I was kind of like, I knew that was going to happen, huh?
And Golden's going to get better. And, you know, they got, they have one of the best
tight ends of the league in Tucker Kraft.
And when you look at defense, we just talked about the middle of the field with Nick.
I think they're as good as anybody in the middle of the field.
And I left Zaire Franklin out last night and talking about it.
I didn't mean to do that, but Edger and Cooper's just so good.
Edgerman Cooper's like there before the ball gets there.
He's got instincts like a motherfucker.
Playmaker.
He's a playmaker, dude.
He's going to be a household name before you know it.
And they got McKinney and Williams, who got his block knocked off on kickoff return.
But they're as good as anybody in the middle of field.
actually played pretty well for stretches this game.
So like the pass rush is a question, the O-Lines of question,
usually those things are Cardinal Sins, but you're watching them.
And I think Gannon's a good D.C.
who's going to have more to work with when Micah Parsons gets back than he has in years since Philly.
But then I remembered who the Packers are.
Year and a year out, week in and week out, and I had their over win total last year.
So I'm just saying, like, I've been one of you, Packers fans.
I've been on your Reddit.
I've listened to your podcasts.
I've, I've,
blood, sweat and tears with you.
You know?
Last year I damn near had a cheesehead on my, on my hat,
watching those Bears games.
I was at the bar.
I'll never forget them blowing that 21-3 lead.
I'll never forget what had to happen for them to lose that game at the end of the season.
Shit, I'll never forget the way they failed to ice that Cleveland game.
Like there's just, listen, in four of the Packers' last six games,
they led Denver by nine.
Give them a pass on that because everything changed for me when, when, when Micah Parsons got hurt.
That was that game, right?
Michael Parsons got hurt in that football game.
And that Patrick Sartan pick flipped the whole thing.
They led Chicago by 10, lost by 6, led Chicago by 18, lost by 4, led Minnesota by 12, lost by 17.
And the part that makes this so damning is there were stretches this game where I was dog cussing KOC.
it was like they were afraid to go win the game he didn't have the confidence in
Carson that I think he even would have in Kyler Murray there were times where I was
asking for nine I was like put McCarthy in Carson was missing underneath throws
yes he had the great ball before the half that just got erased before our very eyes on
the free play he made some really good throws as the game went on but it just felt like to me
this was your chance Packers to like exercise this demon and at this point
and it's getting not only schematic but mental.
You know, the conservatism from Matt LaFleur
when they get leads to me is just,
it's confounding, especially considering the fact
that you don't have a running back that's a game changer.
You got Marshawn Lloyd taking carries and that sort of thing.
Like, to me, I know your offensive line isn't great,
but you've got to find ways to be more aggressive with a lead
and put that team away because they were stretches this game
where I'm saying to myself,
and I know B-Flow turned up the blitz,
but if you can just score one more time,
And I know that's what he's thinking when he goes for it on fourth down when they get the penalty.
And then he brings his group back up to the line.
And foregoes the three points.
I agree with that thought process.
Because I can tell you, litmus test is if you're on Minnesota for big, which I was,
the last thing I wanted was for him to come out there with the offense again.
And he did.
And it's fourth and three feet.
And he sneaks the ball with no tush pusher in the year of our Lord,
2006. Cardinal sin alert. To me, it just, it just didn't make sense. And it's, and again,
overreaction week one is faux pa player. But when this team has been doing this shit for a long,
long time, it's hard for me not to be like, damn, is this who y'all are? So like Green Bay,
very talented at some point to get Josh Jacobs back. I don't know what's going on in the court of
law. We'll see, Micah Parsons is coming back for that Cowboys game. Otherwise, it wouldn't have
schedules at week six.
They're going to be better.
They were really good last year.
Had everybody been healthy, I think they could have competed for a Super Bowl.
But they blow these games, and they're hard to trust.
And I know the refereeing was abhorrent at times in this game, both ways.
A lot more on that last drive, you know, going the Vikings way.
But, you know, before the half, which was a big sequence, that Christian Watson bomb down in the
red zone, I think off Jordan loves back foot.
But I think the Vikings brought Blitz and 77 tackled.
Was that Sean Ryan?
Sean Ryan, 75. 77, I blue Stuart Morgan.
Morgan. Morgan tackled buddy, dude.
He was on the ground.
So I know there were some bad calls, but if you peel your eyes back and you look at the game,
it just was maybe not evenly, but just not officiated well.
The quarterback weight thing, here's my explanation.
I'm just going to tell you this.
It's one of those calls that I hate, but as a former.
D. Lyman, I know it's coming out. And especially if you're a big guy and you land on a quarterback
like that and there's no momentum carrying you into the hit, it's one thing if you get pushed in the
quarterback and you land on them or you stick the quarterback and you land on him. But when you're
basically titty to titty with the quarterback and you suplex and land on them, even if you get your
hands out of the way, they're looking for that, dude. They're looking for that. And Carson
Wentz is getting that protection. Now, there were other questionable calls, right? You know, the ICT,
I think on, or was it a hold on Bullard?
Like, and I forgot to mention him in the middle of their defense.
Like, there were other calls.
I get it.
If you're a Packers fan, be my guess.
You want to, you want to, you want to cry yourself to sleep tonight,
talking about the penalties, that's fine.
But at some point, you have to face the reality that your team is who they've been
the last year until they stopped doing this shit.
Like, you can blame the penalties, but you should put that game away.
You shouldn't be in a situation where calls aren't going your way.
I mean, you're playing on the road.
you want to, it's one of the loudest stadiums.
Things, they start blowing that fucking Viking horn.
And weird things happen, man.
So if I'm, if I was Matt LaFleur yesterday, I would have tried to win the damn game in the third quarter.
And I know you could say, hey, they're trying to run their best plays and they had all these explosives.
But to me, it's just not good enough when that's kind of what you've been.
So not to rant, if I had the cherry pick on the, or nitpick, not cherry pick, talking about the Vikings for a couple quarters, I thought
I had it wrong there.
And I also, that Kyler Murray interception gave me a jump scare.
The way they looked the first two series of the game,
I was like, damn, he's not going to be any different here, is he?
And maybe that's the case.
But I just, the math doesn't add up when they win nine games in a season
where they have a guy that they drafted in the first round,
but they couldn't wait to bench him and move on.
Like, that's how bad the quarterback play was, and they won nine games.
This guy's won with the pasturnaut, getting off a damn delta flight,
learning the damn signals on the sideline in his uniform before the football game.
I think COC, although I was a little bit frustrated with the second down run calls yesterday,
he's earned the right to get the knot of approval.
I think they're going to be better with Kyler.
If I'm wrong, I'm wrong.
But it's just like it's a logical leap to make.
And with that defense, and they've got some, they traded experience for youth up front.
And sure the corner room is a little bit sketchy at times, but like that's what they do.
They bring pressure and they make good quarterbacks look kind of like kind of uncomfortable sometimes.
Yes, you're going to get your big chunk plays in the middle of field and Packers did.
But I think for the Vikings, this was a huge win, dude, especially considering the fact they probably don't get Kyler Murray this week.
He was in a fencing posture, dude.
Like that was not good.
And they're going to play this week.
They're playing.
I thought I knew this.
we talked about it earlier
they're playing the Chicago Bears
and that's going to be a tough one
that's going to be a tough one
Holmaroy in Chicago
that's going to be a tough one
that's going to be a tough one so
you know for the Vikings like you got to hurry up
and get Kyler Murray back and get him time on task
because that's another thing you lost out on
is a full game of time on task for Kyle
Murray
if the Packers can learn to play with a lead
they'll be fine but that's like a big if
I'm not really sure what to
say about that. It was nice to see Justin Jefferson. He made a face I hadn't seen in over a year.
Smile. A face of fucking let's go do this. Excitement. Like hope, man. Like there was a moment late in
that game where he just wants a chance to make plays, man. He's one of my favorite players. He's a
great human being. He's, he's a team guy. I saw him at the Super Bowl and I was like, you know, yada,
yada, yada. I'm sorry it was so hard to get the ball this year. And I'm not trying to take a shot of JJ,
but he doesn't bite on that stuff.
He's just like, man, hey, you know, we're working.
Like, we're going to get, he's, he's like a consummate pro.
He never throws anybody under the bus.
All he is is elite, and it was so nice to see him get the, get the football.
Carson missed some throws.
He's going to have to make the ball he missed to Addison, some of the underneath stuff.
He kind of gets the yips.
He plays quarterback sometimes late in the down.
Like, I make a layup in rec league.
Like, I get nervous the closer the shot is.
You know what I'm saying?
And I get the yips.
And sometimes it feels like he short-arms things.
Like they got to clean that shit up.
I don't know if he can.
And they need to figure out, they talked about the running backs,
1A and 1A.
I need a 1-A.
I need a 1. I like Mason.
I like Jones, but like somebody,
the rushing attack for them has to be a thing, dude,
especially to get them out of this little stage right here.
That 39-yard touchdown to Jefferson
was his first deep touchdown of 20-plus air yards
since week 16 at 20-24.
work.
That's crazy.
You're not.
That's called being in purgatory.
Imagine being so good at your job and looking at everybody else, all these casuals,
and I'm not saying everybody's a casual, but like when you start saying, hey, top five
receivers, I don't know, Justin Jefferson is in there anymore.
Like, why do you think that is?
Yeah.
Well, it's a position that's totally dependent on another person.
Exactly.
Just like most positions in the NFL, but very directly.
Directly, yeah.
So, yeah, I think Hawkinson is going to have to be huge for them, especially over this stretch.
Now, with the Packers, obviously we don't know when they're going to get Jacobs back in the lineup,
but as you look at this, it's a one game sample size, but 2026 version,
once you get Jacobs back, do you feel like, okay, now they're better position to finish games,
or is it still going to be a deal where you're going to be apprehensive about trusting this team until you see them?
Well, they had them last year, and they blew up.
leads and and I think he's remarkably physical but that offensive line's not a physical group and he
gave them the edge that they don't have right now so to answer your question I think it's in the
soft touch of Matt LaFleur and the play calling like you you have to be better you have to be more
aggressive you have to you have to turn some of these field goals and touchdowns you got to
like listen it can't be all explosives or nothing yeah and so I look back at kind of their
their play calling last year I wish I had my notes but it was pretty damning with Lee
some of the things they were doing.
Like from a predictability standpoint.
And just like philosophically, like you look around the neighborhood and the division,
you get Ben Jonathan saying, I want to score a million points this year.
I want to kill you.
Like, I want to kill you.
Yeah, it seems like almost like a philosophical thing that kind of holds them back.
It's not enough to just hope you win these games.
And, you know, I do think there's reason to believe.
Like last year, again, they lost their most important offensive non-quarterback in Kraft.
And then they lost their easily most important player on defense.
and Michael Parsons,
and I think if they have all those guys on the field
at the same time,
which they haven't really in a long time,
makes a big difference.
They're going to be really good.
For sure.
But I just don't, like, excuse me for not jumping out of the gym.
There's a couple teams that are kind of like,
that kind of give me pause.
You know, it's the chargers.
I think the chargers can be really good,
but the chargers, there's a verb called chargering.
Yeah.
Why is that?
Packering is another thing, dude.
Playing with your food.
We've got to finish people off.
Got to step on the next.
Packers.
Pause on that.
A little bit of false.
Finish people off.
But just like you said, they deserve to be paused right now.
Packers last four possessions.
Turnover on downs.
Fumble.
Interception.
Turn over on down.
Yes.
Vikings last four possessions.
Touchdown.
Touchdown.
Touchdown.
Touchdown.
Dude, there are some games that you've been in like that, but it's rare.
that like it just feels like the damn breaks it just feels like literally the damn breaks everything's
going wrong and and it's on the road and the roof is coming off the place that was the mr crabs
moment of the week they were out there and it's so funny because like I didn't watch sponge bob
really growing up maybe that was like a a generational thing like I'm a little bit too old maybe and then
i my kids are they're like in a cult dude they're in like the spruce
Bunch Bob cult, including my three-year-old.
They love the show, dude.
They love the show.
So I watch a lot.
I'm starting to understand.
It gets funny as you get older.
It gets funny, dude.
And it makes your kids funnier.
My kids are funny as fuck.
And it's because I think they watch SpongeBob.
Crazy take.
Dude, I like the movie.
We all went to the movie and watched the, you know, with the ship captain.
You wouldn't know because you're not a big fan.
No, like I am a fan of it.
But the reason why I can't get with SpongeBob is solely.
because of Patrick, like, because of Patrick's character.
You don't like Patrick?
Yeah, he's just so dumb for no reason.
Well, he's a fucking starfish.
I get it.
I get it, guys.
Do you ever talk to a starfish, dude?
Yeah.
You ever talk to a sponge?
Not real smart either.
There's a lot of information.
You ever talk to a squirrel?
Sandy, smart.
No.
Squirrel.
So anyways, we do, again, like,
I want to apologize.
directly to Bears fans and Panthers fans.
And Chargers and Cardinals fans because we didn't get the depth of breakdown in those games.
Like, that's my Mulligan this week.
There's 1,800 games.
I really want to give this Bears offense.
It's due rather than come up here and read the box score and be like, you know who played
pretty fucking well?
Like everybody else in sports media, I'm not going to do that.
We're going to watch the All-22 and me and Bo are going to take a deep dive Wednesday
into what made this offense so great on Sunday
and also what the Panthers defense
and the Bears defense can do to improve.
I think we'll also get a little bit more detail
on some of these Bermuda Triangle games coming up here.
We've got a couple of Bermuda Triangle games
that I'm going to talk about in a moment.
Can you first detail create?
Absolutely. I'd love to detail create.
Can you move that thing?
Okay, awesome.
I don't train to compete anymore.
I train so I don't fall apart.
Boy, that sounds pretty bad.
But it's true.
And nobody's paying me to be sore anymore.
I train so I can get up off the floor where my kids pile on me after they watch
SpongeBob and they want to tackle.
My daughter is like Fred Warner, dude.
She's legitimately like Fred Warner.
So I got to be on my toes.
You know, like I'm doing the podcast.
I'm working out.
I try to work out every day.
You know, I'm running the foundation.
I'm picking kids up for.
from school. I don't want to make it sound like I'm doing too much around the house because my
wife will call me on my bullshit. But like I'm doing a lot of football, right? And so I need the
mental aptitude. I need to, I need to be able to, you know, have my wits about me. I got to,
I always had trouble keeping weight on when I played. I did. A little secret here. Play strength
was a bit of an issue for me. And the creatine, man, I wish I had it when I played because
right now I just feel, I feel like John Cena out here. I feel diesel.
I feel rocked up.
I feel like creatine's taking me to the next level, dude.
I'm hitting my goals, dude.
I'm hitting my PBs in the weight room.
So yeah, I mean, it's a big recovery tool for me.
And then also these packets are great.
I use the gummies a lot, but I also use the packets.
I actually got my dad on the packets because I'm like, dude, you need creatine.
Like everybody's one of the most well-studied supplements of all time.
Nope, no BS.
and it's good for people of all ages it is literally if I had to if somebody was like
hey I'm having any problem almost any problem I'd be like are you on creatine like let's start
there and this creatine packet it's got five grams of creatine it's got touring in there it's got
electrolytes in there so it's kind of a one-stop shop when I take that packet I am buzzing
I feel like I can take over the world so you know
Shout out to create.
It definitely is like, you know, we, we partner with a lot of brands.
I really like, you know, a lot of these brands, but I like all these brands, but create
for me.
I'm very passionate about this one because I think creatine is a great tool for people.
So go go get yourself some create gummies or create packets.
Hydration and muscle.
Bermuda Triangle.
Should we start the Bermuda Triangle?
Let's go get lost.
Well, I don't know.
The Bermuda Triangle.
where football games disappear.
Where they disappear?
I don't know, Jim.
This one might disappear.
What?
What did he just say?
We got a frozen Nick on the screen.
It's low-vis in the Bermuda Triangle.
There's a fog that's lifting off the Caribbean Sea,
and there's three games that we got to talk about in the Bermuda Triangle.
Today it's where football games go to die.
and I actually happen to watch some of these football games,
but we're going to talk about three teams that are racing to the bottom,
the Falcons, the Dolphins, and the Browns.
Who's the worst football team out of those three teams?
I think it's probably the Browns.
I'm not trying to take anything away from Nate's Jags.
I'm going to kick it over to Nate in a second to finish this segment,
but it kind of feels like playing the Browns without Miles Garrett
as like Sydney, Sweeney without cans.
You know what I mean?
You know what I mean?
No.
The white people, right?
So, yeah, their pressure rate got like cut literally in half, dude.
It got cut like literally in half.
It was abhorrent.
And I'll wait for you to tell me more.
So I just seeing Todd Munkin's face every once in a while,
it would like pan over to that game and I'd see Todd Munkin's face.
And I just think about what a poor soul he is.
He's a good football coach.
He didn't ask for this, but he's got to deal with this bullshit.
They're cleaning up a five-year mess, dude.
They're cleaning up a five-year mess.
Todd Munkin, he's more of a janitor than a football coach right now,
and I hate that for him.
So the Jags, they're a wagon.
I'll let Nate tell you more about that.
I think the dolphins are going to have their challenges.
if you were to pull people on the street and see how many dolphins players they could name,
I think that would be the team that people would have the most trouble with.
There are 12 rookies on this team right now.
It's like 20% of the roster.
What would you set the total at how many dolphins the average fan could guess the name of?
Average fan?
Yeah.
If that.
Too, like I know Malik Willis.
Like, who else is still there?
Achan.
Achan, Proctor, Amelia.
a million young wide receivers.
People don't know linemen.
They got some good young linemen.
But it is, it is truly Bermuda Triangle stuff.
And Miami's close to the triangle.
So it makes a lot of sense.
But Malik Willis, damn you, bro.
You hit that big chunk play before the half
and hit the total, the first half total.
That was all that game was worth to anybody.
But I will say Beach made a nice play.
Is it Beach or how are you saying his name
for the Las Vegas?
Jack Besh.
Besh.
Bish. Bish.
This dude caught an in cut for a touchdown.
The Raiders looked competent from a distance.
I can't wait to dive into that film.
I mean what I just said completely.
And the dolphins look like, hey, listen, every week's going to be a tryout for these guys on the dolphins.
I saw some receivers that made some nice plays for that team.
Now, Malik Willis took a lot of sacks, man.
was it was sack city down there um this is pretty interesting malique willis what malik willis 13
air yards per attempt that's the most ambitious dolphins quarterback since 2000 and what year read
2019 anybody in the chat remember without googling who that quarterback was is it fits
it is not good guess 2019
Oh, Taylor.
He is Rosen.
Oh.
Rosen.
Josh Rosen.
Where's he at now?
I think he's probably doing really well in business.
Working in the private sector.
I think he's working in the private sector.
I think he's doing quite well.
I'm a big fan of the guy.
Josh Rosen's cool as hell.
He really is cool.
And he was ambitious his short stop in Miami.
But a shout out to Caleb Douglas.
He talked about the Dolphins receivers.
Caleb Douglas was really good.
Throw by.
Yeah, dude.
I like what I see there.
And you know, I'm Malik Willis fan.
So we'll see what happens.
So, yeah, that game was a shit show.
And then Steelers Falcons, I'm sorry to put a team that won their division last year in the Bermuda Triangle.
But Pittsburgh and the Falcons combined for 1069 total, the 1069th ranked game in total EPS.
from a subset of the last 1,097 football games.
So in short, in the last give or take, 1,100 football games,
there were only 20 or 30 that were worse.
That's fucking incredible.
Crazy.
That really slid under the radar.
And I was a big idiot.
Now, I didn't do it, but I said, hey, you know what?
I heard Tua got hurt and I said you know what the sharp play is going to be it's going to be wait till this thing ticks down and take the over I think Cooper Rush has got something in his bag dude I think I'm I'm still stuck on 2020 what was the year that that he had to play a lot in Dallas and actually played okay was that the year that dax's leg like three years got snapped in half but I'm still stuck on that Cooper Rush evidently
He's not that guy anymore.
Not that.
And on top of that, Aaron Rogers, I was actually pretty impressed with the way they took
shots down the field.
The guys just got to catch the ball.
They got to connect on some of these things.
But I thought Rogers, the arm looked live, he took shots down the field.
Again, this game happened in the Bermuda Triangle.
2.95 second time to throw for Rogers.
That's a long time.
And when you think about who they're playing in Atlanta, one of their guys is out with
one of their stud young pass rushers out with an injury,
the others out because he can't behave.
You know, they don't have the rushers.
Sure, they've got an exciting secondary.
I can't wait to watch Avion Terrell, you know, Bates Watts,
you know, A.J. Terrell, like, they've got a good group.
Divine Diablo in the middle.
Like, good players, but they're not there yet.
They're definitely not there yet.
If their starting quarterback is on his, like,
third ACL, their backup quarterback,
pops up with an oblique,
and then the third string quarterback
is Cooper Rush, who had back spasm Saturday.
He had back spasms the day before the game.
Their emergency quarterback was Alameday Zakias,
who was a wide receiver.
He was also their emergency running back.
Well, our guy, Ian Yates Cunningham,
has his work cut out for him.
Future executive of the year.
Yeah, because what, you gotta go out and look for,
you probably got to go look for another quarterback,
quarterback right dude i i no the question is what do you want to do if you're at alkins like what what's your
what's your ambition arch manning oh your ambition if you're arch in alana arch in alana arch in aladdin dude i'm i'm
going to leave the triangle right now to talk about archmanning while you're while you're migrating over i have a
individual shout from the steelers game t j watt pick six oh man this is tied to
To a trivia question.
He's so good.
This was the 10th interception of Watts' career,
second player in NFL history to record 10 interceptions and 100 sacks.
Who's the other one?
10 interceptions and 100 sacks.
10 interception.
Okay.
Ossi Yumaura.
Nope.
He had like 80 something.
This is good.
I love trivia.
Oh.
Is he a white guy?
The way you're looking at you.
I think he's a white guy.
Wait, wait, wait.
Is he me?
Still playing?
Oh, is, you had 10 picks?
I gave you a clue.
Huh?
You had 10 picks?
I'll give you a clue.
No, I didn't know.
I didn't have a hundred sacks.
I had 70, bro.
I give it.
Still playing?
Think ball.
But I left a couple years on the table, huh?
Wait.
Think ball skills.
Ball skills?
Obviously.
But, wait, still playing guy?
I'm thinking about guys with John Abraham.
I'm thinking about, uh...
Chris, you use his, him as an example.
Jared Allen.
I watch film all the time on the show.
Jared Allen?
No.
This is, this.
a guy near and dear to your heart.
He's one of my favorite players.
He's not Kyle Vanombosh.
Vannebos didn't have a hundo.
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, give me a second.
Give me a fucking second.
This is fun.
Sorry, chat.
You're just going to have to sit here.
You're going to be pissed if you're just acting like you're at work anyways.
One of Christmas teammates?
No.
No, no, no, no, no.
I use him as teach tape in here all the time.
The chat knows.
Chats on it.
Wow.
So I sweat this person.
Nate.
I sweat this person.
Nate immediately pulled up the chest.
Oh, my old teammate, if that's him.
Oh, fuck. Strain here?
Oh, that's my fault.
Nah, you're going to be mad.
No.
Your old teammate?
Yeah.
In Jacksonville?
Mm-mm.
Oh, Julius Peppers?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, because Pep was in every throwing window, dude.
Yeah.
Pep was, oh, my God, he was so good, dude.
Yeah, he was.
Some people just have that playmaking knack.
T.J. Watt has had that playmaking knack since he started playing football.
It's just you either have it or you don't or you kind of have it.
Or the ball bounces your way.
Or the ball just like happens about your way.
You make your luck sometimes, man.
You try to help you with the ball skills thing.
No, I know.
It's like college shoes.
I know.
Yeah, you're right about it.
Yeah, you might see.
I think freak of nature would have sufficed.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I like trivia, man.
Bo was the one in the chat, spamming pep.
Bo?
Yeah, Bo's in the chat right now.
Hey, Bo, call me.
Let's talk about tomorrow's show.
Let's do a rundown right now.
Call me for the show.
What are we doing Wednesday?
We're going to finish the show with a pre-production meeting.
I'm like, well, you know, I'm just crunch it through 17 NFL games.
All right.
I'm going back to my seat.
And before we get to the Jags-Browns game, we'll kick it off with an Adam Schepter tweet.
The triangle.
Actually, Nate, will you come over here as he's reading this tweet and come here and talk about the Jags?
Come on.
Come on over the triangle.
Adam Schaefter shared that Brown's head coach Todd Munkin told
reporters that he anticipates in QB Deshaun Watson will start on Sunday at Tampa Bay.
Monken said there were some really good things on film.
Yeah, there were some really good things on film.
Bomb past, like that four-yard past touchdown that was meaningless.
I feel like probably brought him another week.
Yeah, meaningless to some.
Remember when I texted the group, Chad, and I said, hey, I haven't seen the game,
but I think the Jags roll in the second half, right?
It's minus four and a half or whatever it was.
Deshawn.
So, yeah, what happened, Nate?
Yeah, exactly.
So for anyone who didn't tune in, the Jags,
we're picking up how we left off last year,
playing complimentary football early.
Our defense looks amazing.
Fuck, yeah, dude.
Two early takeaways that turned into touchdowns.
Everyone is kind of on notice.
Maybe if you watch the Jags and you know ball,
that Parker Washington is emerging as probably, I would say, arguably top 10 receiver in the league right now.
But if him and Trevor keep on pace of what they're doing, he is slowly but surely moving up that list.
And Trevor is playing like the first, the number one overall pick that everyone thought he can play like.
And just overall, I think that Liam Cohen is in his bag.
starting early.
He has an amazing D-Corinator
that is constantly in his bag.
So the Jags, for all the people,
if you're not Jacks fans,
and if you're any,
if you're a fan of any other team in the AFC South,
it's going to be a long season, guys.
It's going to be a long season.
And the Jags, man, Duvall.
You already know what it is.
All right.
Big test next week.
exclusive who they play next week it's Fax first cowboy read next week oh wow that's a big
a good ballgame get them up out of here mm-hmm yeah in the browns you can come back to the mainland
in the browns i don't know i know jerry verse what you do with it was in the little of time oh my gosh
you know what though honestly it was like we're about to do mentions yeah could have said jared verse
for best seat on wednesday night like i don't have to be in australia and looks like they miss me they miss
He had zero pressures, too.
Miles Garrett, like.
But he was dinged.
And also, what does that say about a player when the player leaves?
And I know it's a one-game sample, but the pressure rate is cut in half.
I mean, he was that man last year.
But I mean, realistically, can't Jerryverse say that for the L.A.
Rams after that first game?
Like, he had zero pressures, but what was the pressure?
the same players.
No, but I'm just saying, like, looking at the stats,
what was the, what was the pressure rate for the Rams the first game?
But sometimes the devil needs no advocate.
I hear you.
It's, like, like, you know, it's just, he was the one headliner.
I think Malik Collins, who actually, we were talking about this earlier,
I was like, man, we just keep trying to trade Malik Collins.
We, like, we're trying to get Malik Collins somewhere good, but Houston would be fun.
Be perfect fit.
Houston would be fun.
I'm not saying those guys are, like,
inside aren't doing a good job what i'm saying is like you can always use more
especially on a team that's going to rush the passer and it is financially feasible yeah it's financially
feasible so um anyways let's do the mentions man it's time it's for the moments i should say
or mentions has mentions i made the lower say mentions but okay then yeah it's greenlight mentions
for now maybe next week it'll be something different um i got i got a i got a word every
dude i got a new mention can is is it okay to go out of order or no can can we do the new
segment here i want to put my ears in for this segment um this is really this is good stuff i was
on the treadmill or yeah i was on the treadmill here's what i do on the treadmill i do four miles an hour
11 and a half
incline 30 minutes a day
that's
that's how you get this physique
and nothing else really
just that I'm really
doing some weights
I'm doing some weights I throw some weights
I can hear him being thrown around
but I was on the treadmill
watching ESPN and that's
and this is what I heard
I got eight sacks right here
they're small they're like defensive back
blitzes but but you get the idea
they wouldn't let me bring like Will Anderson's size
bags in here.
That's Dan Graziano bringing in
eight sacks
to represent
the eight sacks that
Josh Allen took in the last matchup.
This will now be the
Dan Grasiano sack of the day.
He didn't bring any Will Anderson-sized
bags.
Look legit, dude. I was watching
fucking ESPN pregame show,
which is a good pre-game show,
especially like a couple hours before
because Kyle Long and Howie Long aren't on.
And so if you want to watch something else, I watch that.
And then I watch Dad and Kyle.
I like Randy Moss, Alex Smith, Teddy Bruske.
Who is Greenie the man guy?
Rex Ryan's on there.
So I like that group.
But they're like, let's kick it to Dan Graziano, who's in Houston to give us a little
inside information on the game.
And he's got a tray of sacks that are half out of the picture.
The producer's like, fuck this segment.
I'm cutting the sacks out.
Like he's got like half the picture.
picture and he's got this tray of sacks he's like this is what happened to josh allen and he goes i
couldn't find any will anderson size bags so um this is now going to be um this is going to be
the dan graziano sack award and i want to kick off every mentions with this one because this one's
fucking money dude i love this and i was like there was some good plays yesterday for a second it was
going to be um it was going to be chase young
I mean, and somebody, Tales of a weed smoker who's a Jags fan,
you're all drug addicts, you Jags fans.
He told me in the chat, he's like, actually, Pennie Sewell did a good job.
Like that was on the guy who was supposed to chip the edge.
I'm like, well, you've got to watch the rest of the game, too.
I mean, like Chase Young was getting some pressures.
But it wasn't Chase Young because that didn't hold up.
There were some other really spectacular rushes I saw.
The one I got to give it to,
do you have an idea who this might be facts?
It was an NFC East football game.
It's Sunny Stiles.
I just,
I'm glad the Eagles got the win.
What I hate is when people do the thing with preseason tape.
Remember that read option where somebody ran for a touchdown
and everybody's like, man,
Sonny Stiles is the worst fucking player ever.
I know he didn't have a good PFF grade yet.
yesterday but he did some good things in the run game for sure and bringing the hammer to the party
dude and running over saquan barclay i mean that was like a speed bump he speed bumped him my guy
sayquan dude i me and sayquan were doing a push-up competition at lane's wedding maybe you got to
some more push-ups bro no even the best get got bro and sunny styles is a big dog bro that guy
Arvel Reese, those two linebackers, the way these linebackers are now, Jack Campbell,
Sonny Stiles, Arvel Reese, like, they just, they're big, they're rangy, they're long,
and he brought the boom there, bro.
So, who, who?
You got to think about cutting, Sequin.
I might not like to do it, but you see someone like that, hey, you got a throw and roll.
Who won the push-up contest?
I think he probably.
I don't know.
We were, I was shit-faced, man.
I don't even remember, honestly, who won the push.
I think it was more of we were doing push-ups.
We were just doing push-ups.
which is when I realized that Sequin Barclay is like one of the dudes
he's just one of the dudes
honestly like we got home from that wedding
and I don't talk a lot about like when I go to a wedding
like talk about some of it but I don't want to talk about too much of it
you know like it's not a Taylor Swift situation
but like it's my boy's wedding
the consensus I was talking to my wife
and we were just like man like Sequin is just like one of the dudes
he is just a he's a teammate you know
and I know why dudes love Seacuan Barclan
not just because he's incredible football but because you know he can drink a couple beers too with the fellas he'll hang out with the O line do some late night pushups yeah doing pushups fires up the bar dude yeah that was five minutes before somebody some man I got the worst looks for lighting up a dart in this outdoor bar evidently it's against the rules in Nashville
Nashville really lost its fastball day really hilarious wow I was like it's a menthol so um let's do uh dimensions now
as they were.
We're going to start with Best Flight.
What you got, Fax?
I'm going with Jacoby Brissette and the Cardinals as a whole.
No one's even thinking about this team,
and just like you said,
everyone has the chargers up on a pedestal
that maybe they don't need to be on,
and Jacoby Brissette just walked in there
with his average-ass quarterback skills
and left out of there with a win.
One in O, undefeated.
I don't know the last time the Cardinals can say that,
but they can say it for at least five more days
that they are undefeated.
And who knows what happens from here?
Bro, I was going to say it was a really good one
because that was mine too.
But I'll just say the reason I liked it
is a very short flight.
It's probably the shortest flight on the board.
It's your new coach winning a game.
Great place to go back to too.
Yeah, you're going back to Arizona.
And it's earlier there.
And that's great and everything.
so I got to pivot on the spot.
I think I'll go, hey, there was that guy
that I was almost sure
we were going to pencil in for worst flight.
He worked out for the Rams
or somebody in Australia and they were like,
maybe another time.
And then he had to fly back. He flew to Australia
for a workout.
Willis. Willis.
I believe it was a tenant for the Niners?
I don't know.
But he was, find out,
because this guy's getting the best flight
if he was a ram.
because it's much better to be on that flight home alone
than be on the team playing after that loss.
But I don't know if this guy was for the Niners or for the 49ers player
gets cut after flying 16 hours to Australia.
Fuck it.
And he's signed to the 40-Heners practice squad in Australia.
Fuck it.
Give me Vegas.
Give me Vegas.
Vegas flying back from Miami.
Land in Vegas.
It's still relatively early.
Your new head coach is 1-0.
There's good vibes.
Like you beat the shit out of the dolphins.
Give me Vegas.
Do you think Michael Bidwell, the Cardinals owner, tried to race the team plane home?
Dude, he's such, yeah, dude, he's an aviator.
He's a real aviator.
Come on, guys.
He is, dude.
I don't know what kind of planes he flies.
I think we looked it up at one point, but.
Was Vegas home?
No, was it?
Yeah, they were.
Yeah, it was because I fucked this up.
It's the Freudian slip.
I tried to take them.
I tried to take the under because I can't get a damn best flight this week.
A lot of good flights.
My plane, my plane can't take off.
What is the Buffalo Bills?
I don't want to give it to the Buffalo Bills
because people say I'm a homer.
I mean, it's something like to be a homer.
People say I'm a homer.
People say that.
People say that.
In the group.
Oh, give it to the Bears, bro.
That's like interior flight.
Dude, that's not a West Coast, East Coast thing.
Charlotte, the stadium's not too far from the airport.
You're on the plane back.
I'll say the bear's offense because the bear's defense, there was a lot of heads down looking at their iPads.
Bears offense.
Worst flight.
Worst flight.
I'm giving a worst flight.
We need a sounder for worst flight?
No, no, no, no, no, no.
All right, worst flight.
No.
Rahim Morris, the D coordinator for the 40.
who missed his entire birthday during the flight from California to Australia with the time
with the time change I believe his birthday was the turn 50 on Thursday September 3rd
Rahim Morris oh Rahim yes so the Dan his 50th birthday missed it on the flight completely
erased I was going to say who gives the shit because I thought it was a player and like when you're
young like you didn't who cares like it's your birthday but when you get older it's kind of like
yeah 50's like uh they left wednesday night the second and they arrive the friday morning the
man that's crazy that's that's that's crazy but i'm pretty sure he probably still had a few drinks
on the plane probably and he got a win and he got that win and they got that win okay that's a good one
worst flight i'll do the rams bro like because the thing about that is it's not just a long way home
after you get your ass kicked.
It's like, oh, let's get on this plane.
That reminds me.
Maybe we did the dumbest fucking thing of all time flying here the night before the game.
It's all anybody's talking about.
Like, you can't even, like, you can't even kind of move past it because you're sitting
on the plane that got you there.
It just reminds you of how fucked up the itinerary was.
And they had me fooled because I thought, I thought because it's 17-hour difference, I kind
of took the liberties to say, hey, that's only a thing.
seven-hour difference in essence.
You know, like your body doesn't know the difference.
You just think of it the other way.
But that, I don't, I don't think it was like all the jet lag.
I think a lot of it was football, but I think some of it was probably a jet lag.
Do you think that potentially they did it to set up later, like for next week,
so they don't get hit by the jet lag as much?
So they go down quick and they come back quick?
Maybe so.
And then they can.
Preseason when this came out, I kind of said, I said this.
So whoever the Rams and the Niners play week two,
I'll fade those teams.
Yeah.
Maybe there's something to that.
Who the Niners play this week?
Although they look like the fucking,
the Super Bowl Niners.
Yeah.
Miami.
At home?
Dude, I don't know if you can fade somebody playing Miami.
I watched that.
Better not.
The Rams have the Giants.
Monday football.
Yep.
Ooh.
Yikes.
That's what I said before.
It's going to be a crazy season
with the Rams find a way to start out.
0 and 3, 0 and 4, like just before they get going because I have a hard time.
No miles for a few weeks.
Aaron Donald, like, hasn't even gotten going with practicing or playing with them yet.
It's a much more experienced de-coordinator in L.A.
than the one you just saw in Parker in Dallas.
They have edge rushers, right?
Yeah.
They have some interesting pressures and they have run stoppers, okay?
the secondary is probably going to be a lot better than Dallas's secondary,
even with the scheme inefficiencies we saw a week one.
So I do think like it might be really trendy to probably bet the freaking giants this week,
and that would be the very least to stay away for me if I were a Giants backer.
I don't know how many points you think the Rams are going to be laying.
Where is the game?
In L.A.
L.A., yeah.
Obviously.
You know, I can make somebody go to New York after Australia.
might.
I bet you the Rams are
four point favorites.
They are
seven point favorite.
And nobody's going to want to put their nuts on the table and do that.
But I got a desk for a reason.
So
that's just the
it's the play, man.
It's probably the play.
So anyways.
Yeah, man. Like fucking
Puna Ford's gonna
Puna Ford's gonna like body slam
Scataboo. Hey, listen
he's got to stop with the back flips, man.
The funniest, the funniest
sentence I heard all weekend was
and I don't mean to make light of it, but it is just
objectively hilarious.
They were like, let's hear from Michelle Tofoya.
I don't think it's her anymore. I think she's on OAN.
Who is it?
Stark, right? Melissa Stark.
Yeah. Yeah. Come on.
Whatever.
Melissa Stark. They're like, let's hear from
Melissa Stark and she's like, yeah, I talked to Cam Scataboo who said he almost thought about
quitting football because he cares about his body after football after he hurt his ankle last
year. I was like, what about your head, brother? Like, you're headbutting everyone, bro. Like,
your style of play. You see the head butt ad? What? The headbutt ads great. But the funniest
fucking thing to me was he was like, yeah, man, you know, all those subconcussive blows and
like spearing people directly in the chest.
with my helmet or like headbutting things like that's that didn't really register on the richter scale
why i wear a helmet that's why i wear a helmet bro that guy needs a damn guardian cap worse than
anybody no man they need to they need to mandate it godell needs to pay him a million dollars a
year to wear that thing please for everybody else's health as well i mean you
he looks lucid everything looks you know some people's heads are just we were watching the texans
yesterday and there was a play that oh my god who was it collided lasseter and for the fire oh oh my
last that's when i texted a check bullock bullock and those guys are flying around and lasseter didn't
even blink he just popped right up like with a and and i was like you know it's his neck bro have you
seen Lasseter's neck. It's like, yeah, it's like out here, bro. So he's got no, there's no,
his brain's not in there wiggling. I think his, his head's made a concrete, though, dude. That
guy's got a concrete dome. I literally said to the group chat when I seen that, I was like,
friendly fire on the Texan defense can lead to death, like honestly. Seriously. Because like,
bro, the way I watched the, like he's talking about, their heads just like, they're both going
for a tackle. And the person they're trying to tackle just like slip to the ground.
And the way their heads collided, I thought, yo, I thought like they both were going to be
slowed to get up, like he said, and they both just kind of popped up.
Like, hey, let's- Oh, hey, neon waffle maker's mad.
We're not talking about the Bears saying we're hating.
Okay, I'll do this segment now.
Man, did you see all those rushing yards and those passing yards from that Bears' offense?
I don't know, Chris.
The defense wasn't great.
Like, that's all I got right now, brother.
I haven't seen the fucking game.
I literally take pride in my work here.
Yeah.
I take pride in my work.
What's the name?
Neon Waffles.
Neon Waffles.
Neon Waffles.
Give you a segment on Wednesday.
Well, no, I already gave him 15 seconds.
I never should have given him.
But just as a message to everybody, like, you know,
uh, we're, you know, the bear's in the thumbnails a little fucked up, though, guys.
That's a good point.
But, you know, go fuck yourself.
If you don't like it, just watch another show.
You fucking losers.
It's like unbelievable, dude.
All right.
So what's the next one?
Bevel Conway Award.
I'm giving the Bevel Conway to Darnell, Washington,
bouncing Watts' head off the ground on a stiff arm.
Oh, God.
Bro.
You guys reacted.
I didn't see that one.
Dog.
He literally palmed his helmet, and it looked like he's dribbling a basketball off the turf,
the way he throws him down.
And I just think it's the epitome of what football should look like,
especially for a big 6-8 tight end that really has no –
looks like this guy should be in the NBA, probably.
I don't even know his basketball skills, but just the way his measurables.
He would get a lot of rebound.
Like his measurables, how they look.
Bro, look at that.
Like, look at that pitcher.
It was in all times.
Like, that's going to be the best pitcher to get framed.
But it's totally understandable.
Like, it's not like – it's not like – it's not embarrassing for what, honestly.
Like that is that that is excuse me dude are you guys are you guys okay well he's saying i'm fine dude
like big people beat up little people yeah like that's what that's supposed to look like
yeah you got to chop down that stiff arm they teach you they teach you ways to avoid this as a as a defender
sometimes bro but like but bro like obviously we're just looking at a pitcher here it's just like
you have to go back and find this video and just kind of watch how it ends and
And man, what a great picture.
He's a beast.
Chris Godwin.
Godwin did the same thing, dude.
It was like Derek Henry.
All right, so Bebel Conway, I got Vikings Packers.
Beville Conway, to remind people what it is, it's the most beautiful scene in football, in our opinion.
It could be a uniform match, it could be something in the stadium, whatever.
It could be somebody in the crowd.
But, yeah, for me, it's like the lighting.
I don't like indoor football,
but the lighting in that arena is really nice.
It really is.
And those Viking uniforms are some of my favorites.
You know, when Kyler Murray trotted out there
and his little uniform dude,
I was like, man, he looks so sweet right now.
I might go hit the future,
and then he punted the ball to the other team.
But the Packers, the Vikings,
is just a great color combo,
and I really like the lighting in this building.
Nolan said he liked.
the
Sincey Tampa combination.
Yeah, I like the
corny shit, bro.
I don't know.
I like the oranges.
I think they're a good uniform.
I know about that.
I mean, I really feel like the bucks
now that they've gotten away from the alarm clocks,
they don't really have any bad combos.
I feel like my eyes hurt,
and I didn't know it,
and then that game turned off,
and I was like, oh, my God.
Anti-bevel Conway,
this is the ugliest thing we saw.
Nate, what you got?
I'm going with the round stadium in Australia.
Fans were two look like fans were.
Because we're too far away from the field.
Look how far away from the field you are.
Yeah, no, it's, it was weird, dude.
It looked like a weird, like, exhibition game because of the distance from the field.
And it's like, do you feel slighted if you don't know this and you buy, like, front row tickets for a certain place?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You're like, that kind of, like, messes up a lot of different angles of, like, watching a game.
If you're, like, used to watching a game a certain way in the States.
Yeah, I mean, I'm just saying, like, for like Americans who went out there, like, if you bought, like, oh, I'm going to get front row seats to this, like to watch my team play in Australia.
And then you get there and you're like, what the hell?
Well, and look at those dividers on the field.
I don't even know if the people in the front row could see onto the field.
No, you're right.
Yeah.
You're right.
Yeah.
Well, hey, I didn't make that mistake.
I watched on the couch.
It was awesome.
And when that game got ugly, I got in bed.
Yeah, this is pretty unsightly.
Yeah, but it was a beautiful day in melt.
Melbourne Melbourne Melbourne um so that's the anti-bevel conway for Nate mine is uh Kevin
burckhart's pants and tie I don't have a picture but I'm sure you could find it on the internet
um yep Kevin Burkehart nope that's not it nope he had uh it could I mean that could have been the
jacket but there was a shot man he had some like Caribbean blue pants on and a matching Caribbean
and blue tie and I just think that's a little bit of a fashion faux pa.
I think that was a little ambitious, Kev.
He's a great at his job.
A week one statement, if you will.
You can try to outshine Tom Brady, but it's hard to do that.
So there it is.
There it is.
There it is.
Look on the fourth one.
Fourth one.
There we go.
Panthers, Homer?
I'm not really, I don't think Burkhardt can pull that off.
Those pants were.
He had a lot of money on the Panthers.
probably yeah yeah yeah maybe so all right so we got uh we got best seat best seat this goes to the person
had the best seat for the games yesterday which you got best seat i'm giving it to the local bill
backers of charlottesville a group of bills fans out here that um got to watch that exciting
game at the fox den restaurant um that i am currently employed at and if you guys want to come hang out
at the Fox Den have, have a drink, have some good burgers.
Come check me out.
I'll be there tonight for the Monday night football game.
But I just feel like the Bill's backers, their first game at the Fox Den, they got to see a thriller.
Yeah.
And against a really good team, I thought they might have tricked that game off at the end.
But I just feel like as a fan, it's always a great time watching Josh Allen win a game within,
with under two minutes to go.
It's not always been a good time for ever.
I mean, not always, but I'm saying during a win, like for a win it is.
It might be a little nerve-wracking probably for a fan.
But nevertheless, first one.
I was just thinking about last year in the playoffs, but.
It's the regular season, though.
Regular season-wise, I just feel like best seat that the bill's backer seeing their team win.
I got best seat.
Okay, best seat.
me watching my whole family on TV, dude.
It is, I got, I got to have two TVs on to see my dad and my brother.
And I thought Kyle, shout out to Kyle, who was on the big show yesterday, he's electric.
He's electric.
He's, he's an electric factory, dude.
It's just, when he starts talking, I start leaning in.
And he was, he was funny.
He was hanging out with Russell Wilson.
FaceTime him Saturday.
he was like doing the dinner thing with bill cow and james brown and and um and russ and i got to talk
to russ i hadn't talked to russ in a long time but uh yeah dude it was uh it was just cool to see
like when you watch your little brother kind of like first it was being a football player
and you're so fucking nervous for him i was nervous for kyle when he came as a rookie to play us in
st louis like i i was nervous for him like playing my my team you know it's not that you
want your friends to beat him but like it'd rather somebody else get beat you
and he ends up being the only guy
can beat Kyle as himself.
He ends up beating up my friends
and I was getting ejected.
But like when I watch his games on TV,
it's that helpless feeling
that my dad always talked about
that I know kind of what it feels like
because I'm a big brother
and I watch my brother play
and through injuries and all that shit.
Watching him on TV is pretty easy, dude.
It's just like, hey man, this is fucking cool.
He's pretty good at this thing.
So Kyle, shout out to him.
Shout out to dad.
He's still doing it.
and I got the most comfortable seat though out of the three y'all I got freaking snacks I have multiple TVs
I got a host of things in that room that you don't have at fox or at CBS so uh I just uh I just I love
you all and that was awesome it was like a dream dude I had to pinch myself I was like my little
brothers on the big show at CBS is fucking crazy I still see him as a little kid you have to understand
that um so that's my best seat the other best seat
I probably should shout out is,
uh,
nope,
that's the next one.
I got two of them.
Worst seat,
I got two.
Worst seat.
Go ahead.
Worst seat.
I said it's John,
John Harboe watching Scott do that backflip after the touchdown.
Yeah.
Like I just knows that it has to be nerve-wracking to see
you're starting running back that you probably have a lot of plans for
that kind of like holds together your offense and what you're trying to do there.
Like, just come on, dude, but you just got off an ankle.
Yeah.
You don't need to do the back flip.
We know you're athletic, you're exciting, and all those things.
But just like we're hoping he stays away from head injuries and things like that, you got to know that.
Ankle injury is just as risky.
It looks like, because he's back flipping everywhere.
Bro, it's just as risky.
And like, I understand that you can do it.
And it's like, it's fun for the internet or whatever it is for you.
But you just got to chill out.
that probably does it on command.
Like people are like,
yo,
Scataboo,
do that back foot, man.
And he's like,
all right,
hold on a second,
puts his bag down at the airport.
No,
but he doesn't even need to put the bag down.
The fact that he did it in stride with pads on,
he probably could do it in any situation.
It's impressive.
It's really impressive.
Some of the freaks of nature in the NFL are nuts.
And you don't even think of him as one when he gets into the league,
but like you just see.
You look at him now and it's just like the fact,
like being the ex player and just knowing what it feels like to be in pads.
Yeah.
and how like just how you can't move freely dude the fact that he can do a backflip so effortlessly
like that dude i i went to a trampoline park and there was this like ball pit and i did a backflip
and i was like what the fuck and it was like zero like repercussions bro like and i had all this
and it's hard to even do it in the ballpark yeah um yeah dude let alone a fucking white guy
running back out there back flipping that's a little risky bro a little less of that we're
seat.
Brothers.
Matt LaFleor,
Devin Doyle,
and Jim Harbaugh.
These brothers
got the short end
of the stick yesterday.
You know?
Like,
you know how I was saying?
I'm always rooting for Kyle.
I don't know if these coaches
are rooting for their brothers.
Like,
honestly,
some of them might not have been,
dude.
Like, Dylan Doyle,
he's probably not rooting
for Declan Doyle.
They're on the other side,
dude.
They want to kill each other.
saw him before the game, like taking pictures before, and they looked like, all right, I just
need to get to my booth here so I can whip my brother's ass at this.
Dylan Doyle's what, the, uh, defensive quality control.
Quality control coach.
And, uh, Declan's obviously the stud O.C.
Um, Jim Harbaugh had a really good day, which kind of fucks up your, your, your Harbaugh brothers take.
Well, they can't win the same day.
Just win.
Oh, damn.
No, that's why that's perfect, dude.
That's why I said before the game last night, you had literally, you know,
I said, hey guys, hammer the giants.
The Chargers lost.
So that means the brother can't lose tonight.
I didn't realize that.
I should have, yeah.
So yeah, shout out to those guys.
And then Matt LaFleur who's watching his brother in the 4 p.m. window, like looking at that score, being like, damn, dude, he did it again.
They did it again.
We're not doing that here.
We're going to close these chargers out.
So worst seat.
I'll give it to brothers Matt, Dylan, and Jim.
Hollow man.
Hollow man.
Got to be nine, formerly known as J.J. McCarthy.
Damn, dude.
Who looked like he was visibly ready to go in that game
once he seen Kyler Murray go down.
And lo and behold, it was a different white quarterback
entering the game for the Vikings.
and it wasn't him.
And I just feel like as a top pick,
you kind of got to know that your time there
or your chances there are probably going to be slim to none
if you're not even the second string guy at this point.
And it just seems like whatever him and KOC
were supposed to get on page about never really happened.
So I just feel like that's probably like a real hollow seat,
just kind of like feeling like damn.
Like they brought Kyler in.
Maybe I'll be the number of,
Number two, if something crazy happened where he gets hurt,
and then he does get hurt, and you're like, oh, fucked it all up.
Exactly.
As bad as I did.
Yeah, because it's just like, yeah, you might have a chance to re-erect yourself in a situation like that where...
You could re-erect yourself?
That too.
That too.
But, yeah, in that situation, I mean, for a backup to lose or a guy to lose his starting job,
I would think mentally, you don't.
want it to happen that way but you got you're just thinking i just want another chance yeah and for it's
a kind of fall yeah that way and like you're just like okay here's my chance and then it's like no
actually we're going to give it to wins dude that's the difference when you're not playing well as a high
pick is like a position player you can play yourself out of it you have a little bit of time to
play yourself out of it you're going to rotate in at the very least um when you're a quarterback and
you see that kind of that opportunity pass it's it's kind of it's kind of gone until
some other team takes a chance on you.
And then we're writing think pieces about J.J. McCarthy.
If I was him, I would be DM in Atlanta Falcons.
Like, hey, big head.
Yeah.
Like, hey guys.
I'm not injured.
Oh, he would be out of control.
Yeah, what do you think of Anthony Richardson, J.J. McCarthy, straight up trade?
Oh.
Just for fun.
Restart, fresh starts both places.
Yeah, dude.
I would love to see Anthony Richardson in Minnesota.
Yeah.
Just to do football, bro.
Like, I don't know.
I'm at the point.
I would like to see any quarterback.
I just want him.
I want, no, I'm not even talking about, I want Anthony Richardson to just have the ball in his hands.
I still think he could be, I still think he could be a quarterback.
But if you've got your quarterback and maybe you want to develop the guy, like give him the fucking rock.
Make him taste him.
Make him the new Tasem Hill.
That's what I'm saying.
Tasem had a whole long run.
And I'm surprised that like we haven't kind of had.
Yeah.
Like anything similar or like in a way.
I think Justin Fields in Kansas City, look out tonight.
Oh, wow.
That'll be amazing.
Look out tonight.
Okay.
So you got Hollow Man.
Mine's Hollow Man is Deshawn Watson.
It's just so over is what I wrote down.
But then Adam Sheffere was like, it's not over.
It's not.
You get more.
So we're going to see Deshawn Watson.
But it just shouldn't be worse.
He might be one of those dudes that he's just like a double.
agent and he just has like he just has dirt he just has dirt on like front office
wouldn't you think that they would have dirt on him in this conspiracy theory
because like hey you got to throw picks out there you got to be bad no but like why
is he still playing I don't know bro yeah I'm saying no it's not no that's it's just it's we
see this all the time in football just not on such a grand scale and then what but like at
this point it's just like what are you trying to are like you trying to get your money's worth
because we paid for it or no no i would say they don't want to do well but i don't think they're
going to do that much better with chador and i say that respectfully he's a young player but they don't
want to you don't want to chance it if you just know like oh this guy's a don't i think i think
they're chasing a i think there was a period at least where some people in the building were
chasing a ghost with deshaal watson this off season where they said they talked themselves into
things they see him make some throws in training camp and they were like maybe is that guy in there
Are you in there?
2019, Deshawn Watson?
You know, like, it's a pretty wild thing
when you see a quarterback
leave his own body, dude.
Like, when guys change forever,
it's hard to believe.
It's not going to be a happy ending for you and Deshawn.
Whoa.
It's over.
STL Memorial, this goes out to somebody
that probably didn't get enough credit yesterday.
I'm giving it to
the new look, a lot.
who probably should have been had the guardian cap on, but 10 catches for 180.
I feel like he's a guy that maybe people might have to start talking about top five receivers.
I know he's probably not mentioned in a lot of people's or even thought about,
but he's a guy that you look back at his career and what he's done so far
and take away the unfortunate head injuries and getting thrown hospital balls and that.
like he's a guy his stats are up there with all the other top receivers and um i think he's 10
i think he's in the 10 range yeah and i'm and i'm happy he would you go i'm happy he has the guardian
cap on and um yeah hopefully more guys yeah more guys can get into wearing the guardian
cap and thinking about your future and not really focusing on how quote unquote oh it looks terrible
And it's like, bro, like, later on in life, you, you won't care about seeing videos of you wearing a guardian cap versus being unwell, trying to hang out with your kids and family.
Well, in training camp, not to be like, well, yeah, I'm fucked up.
But, like, I used to walk back.
I used to get back to the hotel at night and, like, you go in the bathroom and you're looking in the mirror.
And I always had a fucking bruise on my forehead, dude.
Like, you know what I'm saying?
Those old rideals.
And I used to have, like, and used to take pride in it, dude.
which is the craziest thing that it's come so far and that I'm still here doing this like lucidly
you know what I'm saying knock on wood that just continues let's go to the uh SDL memorial on my
side of ledger I've got Osiris Torrance Osiris uh I've got actually three of them
Osiris torrance jumped on that fumble on the fucking uh Charlie's like fuck sorry Charlie
I got three.
Osiris Torrance,
I don't think anybody really noticed this.
Well, Bill's fans did,
but yesterday on that drive,
I mean,
him jumping on that fumble.
I mean,
that's the whole thing.
That's the whole thing.
I mean,
they fumbled the football
on the decisive drive
and backed up
and he hustles down
and recovers it,
number one.
Number two,
probably the most masculine
football play I've ever seen,
a gentleman named Tyler Owens
for the commanders.
It wasn't all bad.
for the commanders we talked about young slot receiver we talk about Stefan Diggs um but this guy there was a rep uh i
think he was uh covering a punt yep brother he's gunner he fucking speed bumped three different people in the
play i mean i have never seen a rep like this i not to be hyperbolic but like you just don't see
this no you just don't see this and if the nflbill would stop
being so damn greedy, I could show you the play, but I can't.
I'd probably have to pay you a million dollars to show you the play, and I wish I could.
Mike Tomlin is another STL Memorial.
I think Mike Tomlin is fantastic on TV.
Gotta see the Minecraft City, bro.
Bro, I can't wait.
Got to see that.
Luke, Luke, my son.
My son loves Mike.
12 years, bro.
He's been working on the city.
so so i want to have mike on so we can so we can do a city reveal we could probably do that on the show
yeah so that's what i want to do because i think he's just i think he's so good at let's try to book
mike tomlin next week what's he up to probably not much right he probably doesn't have better shit
to do but mike tomlin you're just he's a stud on tv man and it's so nice to see somebody who and
he's got that emotional intelligence about him that's what makes him a great
leader he he can stand in a room full of alpha males and command it but he can also do the job on
tv and make himself personable and really talk to the the finer points of the game without losing
people i think he's just really good at it man and i'm happy for him because he looks happy i love it
when coaches get a little time guys that get a little time away from task and it seems like they
probably could have used some sleep you know some time away i think tom was doing a great job so
A great situational awareness up there.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Game ball.
Game ball.
Game ball.
What you got?
You already know going down to dovo.
My guy, Trevor Lawrence.
Got to say it.
My guy had four touchdowns, no interceptions.
And here's a stat for you, Chris.
You'll like this.
Yeah.
Guess what?
In Trevor's last seven games.
games, bro.
MVP.
23 touchdowns, one interception.
I'm just loving what him and Liam Cohen have going on.
I think Liam tapped in to that potential that everyone saw from Trevor coming out of college.
And maybe we wanted this a few years ago, but he's finally found his match and a coach.
And it's been showing.
And I hate that Chris has Parker Washington in our family.
Oh, bro.
That had to sting.
I watched you pick somebody else with Parker Washington, two or three picks coming up,
and I was like, I got him, bro.
Ladies and gentlemen, we got him.
And you know what's even worse?
I think I got, I think I took Kyle Pitts before him.
That's fucking crazy, dude.
That's fucking crazy, dude.
But, yeah, I'm excited for Parker Washington.
If he, him and Trevor keep doing what they're doing, he is about to get the bag.
And I'm excited for him for that because he's been doing amazing things.
But Trevor, I'm giving him the game bowl this week,
and I'm hoping right now with the Jags,
you know, the sole win in the AFC South right now
with every other team losing.
It feels good being a Jaguarism.
Bro, listen, you should be hyped.
Ever since I met Liam Cohen at the Super Bowl,
I really, it's hard not to like the team.
I think you want to see the consistency just continue.
And when they get in the playoffs, you know,
it's a crowded field this year.
If they get in the playoffs,
crowded field this year. They looked as good as anybody
that sounded like yesterday, but you know, we went
through all these AFC teams. It's going to be a
fun year in the AFC. But look,
let me tell you this. The
deciding factor is
if our defense,
hey, if we can
find a way
to
turn the ball, get, to create
turnovers, one or two turnovers a game
or opportunities for it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It is
going to be a long year for all these teams
because I just like the way
that Liam Cohen dials it up after turnovers and we score or we get points.
And it just, it's going to be fun.
It's going to be fun.
And I know, I'm sure everyone in Studio J is excited that the jet is going to have.
I'm excited.
You never know what they're doing when they're doing.
Another great year.
So.
You know who you took right before Chris took Parker Washington?
Who?
Cortland Sutton.
Oh, man.
Look at that.
Sutton.
Okay.
So my game ball goes to a guy that you know I have an immense amount of respect for.
I might undervalue where his roster is at any given point.
But I think Kyle Shanahan, I mean, with everything they've been through, all the noise,
you know, it was one of the noisiest off seasons.
I mean, you could put the big crazy, how do you make this shit up stories in a four box?
you know from jed york in a trailer park soliciting a prostitute
i'm sure it's as plainly as i can say it i'm sorry there's just no other way to convey
what happened that's what happened dude he's trying to get that in a rental car bro
he tried to get that 140 dollar coochie honestly he had the chris hanson fit on dude uh it was
crazy and then and then you had um you had uh you had uh you know the brandon i yuk saga and the pierceals
heard and you know even they go to australia and shribling gets hurt they're they're doing studies
about an electrical substation outside of your facility bro you got kiddle coming back from an
achilles um is there anything else i forgot they won 10 11 his own car accident the guy's
recovering from a concussion i don't know that there's a better coach in the nfl
I don't.
I really don't.
And I'm just so impressed with how he got his team ready to play.
Bro.
There was talk around the travel.
There's talk around the game, the matchup.
But, like, really, everybody was focused on the noise.
And he reminded everybody that, like, he's the fucking man at this thing when they went to Australia.
And I'm just a big fan, game ball, Kyle Shanahan.
That's a good game ball because, yeah, it's nice.
Because yeah, he's a beast.
I picked them to win their division, so.
I didn't.
I still don't think they do.
I just love, I just, man, Brett, like Fred Warner, bro, off an injury?
You fucking see the way he's, he's incredible, dude.
The way he launched his body.
Dog, that's what I was about to say.
I'm like, yo, this is someone off of injury that, like, that can ruin your career.
Like, be, hey, you're done.
You're, you're, you're into podcasting now.
and he takes off and he's smashing people running freaking sideline to side line. It's exciting.
The way they looked, I got to say, like, I've been wrong about a lot of things, but like,
over the years I've always been pretty on point about who the Niners are year to year.
And if I misdiagnosed who they are this year, I'm already sorry.
But I still think it's a long road to go. And that's a matchup that has favored them.
And I think when you give a coach like him a couple months to prepare, it can be scary hours
for the defense, especially with some new pieces.

But this is coming from Austin Huntercraft.
Yesterday the Bills did a great job moving the pocket to neutralize the Texans pass rush.
Is it more frustrating for a QV when the offense moves the drop target or get the ball out quickly like the Bengals did versus a bucks?
Well, that's a pretty good question there. Austin hyphenated something, something?
Hunter Crab.
Sound a little bit like Tuckercraft.
So let me just, I am qualified to talk to this because I've played all types of quarterbacks,
ones, small ones, fast ones, slow ones.
I really didn't like the fast ones.
You know, I always felt like the fast ones
are the guys I'd least rather play.
And Josh Allen checks the box of being fast
and also huge. The huge ones, usually, it's not a big deal.
Like, you know, Cam Newton landed on me
and broke my rib. I hit Cam Newton,
beat Khalil fast as fuck.
Should have took the ball off Cam Newton
in 2017.
I'm chopping at the
ball and you know you twist around and so I pull his big ass down because he's like bigger than me
and he landed right on my rib so yeah some of those guys like it's you'd rather play a big guy
stationary just give me a shot like big ben i never got to play in this prime we played him once and we
had charlie batch and i missed charlie batch dead to rights that would have been 14 i still think about
that one i don't think about that one at all um but big ben's the guy that's notorious for
patting the ball padding the ball but he's going to be really hard to get down josh is the
combination of all those things you think about Joe Burrow yesterday Joe Burrough's the guy that when
they're cooking they're going to get the ball out fast Tom Brady was one of those guys too I would say
if you're not on a if you're not on a team that's in a close game and that sort of thing like
give me the the guy move in the pocket right but if you're playing an in phase football game
against the guy who's getting the ball out eventually there will come a time where he has to hold
the ball and like that happened for instance in the Super Bowl when we played Tom Brady right
all game they're chipping out two chips quick game the whole thing you're frustrated as a rusher you're
like damn dude am i going to get my hands on him and in the last five minutes of the game we've got hits
we've got disruptions bg takes the ball off him for the win so to me i'd rather play the guy that's
playing with timing than the guy that's playing in an offense where they're varying the drop targets
they're running the football the guy's big he's physical um they're using his legs i'd rather
play the guy who's just getting the ball out and that's my dissertation on
quarterbacks dig it I'm sure Hunter will be uh or what's his name Austin Austin
Austin Hunter Kraft will be very good I don't trust him he's got too many first
names good question Austin any lean tonight yeah dude let me just he's
Bronk let me just fucking stake my reputation on this game that I've just now
thinking about but I will I do think I have a I have a feeling everybody's gonna be
the Broncos.
If the over-themed weekend...
I think I'm on the Chiefs.
If the over-theme of the weekend continues,
wouldn't that favor of the Broncos, do you think?
Would it?
Points, points, points.
I think so.
You think?
I think the Broncos can score.
I think...
I'm not saying the Broncos are...
And I'm a home's return night?
I'm not saying the Broncos...
Hey, we got to be careful with this knee.
But I just say this about the Broncos.
I respect the fuck out of the Broncos on paper, man.
They look so good.
There are unknown things about, like, you know,
things pop up year to year.
with your defense.
Like, I think they were really good last year.
They can be cracked defensively.
Like, they can.
Like, there were teams that scored on them.
The thing that, to me,
kind of makes me nervous about the team
is how many one-score games they won.
And I'm not trying to say that they can't do it again.
But generally, that doesn't carry over year to year.
It was like an outlier amount of, like,
hey, we won on the last possession or in a,
they also led the league and basically led the league in three-in-outs
and short drives.
So they overcame a lot of inefficiencies offensively.
I think Waddle's going to help them a lot.
I think the rug game sounds like it's going to be better.
This young running back could be a stud.
Yeah.
So there's a lot to like about the Broncos,
but I still think people are undervaluing the Chiefs.
That's all I'm saying.
I think people coming off last year have already killed the Chiefs,
even though every year they've won those one-score games.
They lost them all last year.
The Broncos won them all.
So I think it's going to be a good football game.
Fuck it, give me the Chiefs.
Chiefs are favored by two.
27-24.
To go with the overs.
Yeah, that would hit it.
A lot of discourse online
about the Chiefs potentially going under center
to protect Mahomes because of the edge
that's trendy.
The Broncos have.
And the teams with the biggest,
it's been a huge, especially this week one,
a lot of teams have gone under center.
Raiders,
We're plus 29 from last year to this year under center.
It's in vote.
Week one.
Jets plus 27%.
Ravens plus 20, Jaguars plus 19.3.
It's a copycat league, but they're not copying.
They're doing that out of necessity because he's coming off this injury.
The other thing is I think there's an issue at left tackle.
And that's not a good team to play when you have an issue at left tackle.
So I kind of want to retract my final score and say it might be a little bit of a low-scoring game.
I'm not saying to bet the total either way.
Don't throw money away on my account.
Right now, we don't have a gambling sponsor.
I just want to remind you guys that gambling has, it really does have,
there are negative sides to that coin.
You need to be careful.
But I'll tell you that if we had a bet MGM logo on the side of our screen still.
The point is, be careful in prime time.
That's where I get in trouble when you don't have a whole board to identify the things you like.
And there's only one game.
You're like, oh, I just got to bet something.
Be careful with that.
The other thing I'll say is this.
I mentioned the left tackle issue.
If you're Andy Reid, and you're coming in this game, Nolan,
I guess I'm talking myself out of the initial score,
wouldn't you want to control this football game,
control the clock,
especially considering Denver sometimes can have trouble staying on the field?
Like, you want to possess the ball,
you want to roll this new rushing attack out.
I'm really interested to see this Cyrus Allen kid play.
Yep.
You know, like he could be a legitimate wide receiver,
and that could change the math.
a little bit for them.
So I still worry they don't have a blocking tight end.
Yeah.
The chiefs don't.
And if you bring in canine and you want to wash people down and hit the edges,
like I kind of worry about like, well, who's the one caving people on the edges of your
offensive line?
Yeah.
Yeah, to your point, I mean, if the chiefs come out and fall behind, say, a possession
or two and you get back, you get into like a drop-back situation, this Broncos past rush
feast the backup tackling the whole thing and there's a there's a lot of unknowns on defense but again like
somebody just said it in the chat a little bit ago like chula scheme's fine but it's not it's not spags a
scheme not only is different but spags is like so you give the benefit of the doubt saying like hey maybe
they got better up front i know they got better up front i think the woods kid's going to be like
a christmas present i think the delane kid we'll see i mean like the way they they talk about him um so
there are some positives on that side of the football for them um that maybe
Maybe they got a little bit better in some areas, but it's going to be fun.
I can't wait for this game.
And I can't wait to get home and see my kids because I spent all yesterday in the game cave.
So, yeah, I walked out to the game cave yesterday.
I said, see in February, Meg.
So I appreciate y'all.
And I'll be back Wednesday with Bo.
Hey, Bears fans that are upset.
I know most Bears fans are super cool, but like some of y'all might be upset.
We didn't talk about your game.
Cardinals game in in detail those are two games we're going to hit hard on Wednesday

america's teams and a whole bunch of other stuff so check me and beau out on Wednesday
