We're in a great wedding day. night. That was Lane's wedding. It was beautiful. I'm glad you told me because I was like, what the fuck is that day? I was like, yeah. It's an off season. Lane came walking through

this field. It's like he got like pushed up on the field like Michael Jackson on stage and he appeared out of nowhere and that was lovely wedding lane. Yeah man. We caught the buggy. Yeah, so it was right out of Nashville. Wasn't too far. Like I said, just by the end of the night it was a, it was a scene. Yeah. It was fun, man. Cumbaya. That's how you dancing on the dance floor looking. and a little sweaty. Yeah, that was definitely sweaty.

Did you ever see him at Driscoll's wedding doing the worm and then the splits? Oh, fuck. The split? I'll find that. I'll get the video. I'll send it to you later.

I would like to see that. The people need to see it because it's probably like one of the most athletic things I've seen from a big guy. No chance you did it. Full splits. In wedding pants? The worm, bro. I did.

I did. I wore basketball shorts underneath just in case, you know. Had to go cross somebody up or, you know. I've ripped enough pants. So, you always got to stay prepared. Backup plan. You know what I mean? All right, y'all.

Well, let's talk some football. That's kind of why we're here. I want to talk a little bit about, you know, we got some new faces on the Eagles staff this year. I guess we could start there. New online coach, Coach Coop, right? Chris Cooper. How's that been going?

Pretty good. It's been seamless, man. He's just being a former player, like he knows kind of how the line of scrimmage operates. And so from a communication aspect, I think it's just been very, very easy. Obviously, a different scheme, but, I mean, a lot of the same stuff we've done, just different words, but really just under center more play action.

And, yeah, it's been fun. We got some characters, and so he's getting introduced to all the characters in the room, too. Yeah, that's a very special, special room. I mean, yeah, you guys, Jordan, Gergi, Steen. It's like the Winnie the Pooh's spectrum in there. All the ADDs, all the type of attention deficits. Lots of things are in there. I think people don't realize how many, like, what a cast of characters you have, like, in the locker room, obviously, but then even in the position rooms, like, for D-Line coaches, I felt like it was so much of managing expectations or, like, kind of babysitting the fucking D-Lyman.

Whereas O-Lyman, I feel like, you know, kind of like all rowing the boat in the same direction. Did coach ever go? It's about kickoff and Michael Bennett still taking an essence salt bath with his paths? Yeah. Characters, bro. Let's not forget Robert Quinn. Robert Quinn was a character, too. Yeah.

He was a beast. I think people also don't understand. Like, you guys both, you know, had Coach Stout, Jeff Stoughtland for a long time. Like, Land, I mean, what, you had him for 12 years? Yeah, 13. 13 years. And how much an adjustment it is to have a position coach for such a long period of time and then have a new coach and a new scheme step in?

Like, how do you navigate that as a player, you know? Yeah, I mean, it was an interesting transition. You know, somebody, you know, just the mentor to me that put his reputation on line drafting me, you know, when they did. did. So a lot of pressure is put on him, man, and just kind of our evolution through the years and what we all achieved together. And I feel like we both just kind of fed into each other personality-wise. And we amplified each other. And our teams were just, yeah. But, you know, after that, after that went off, like, just with Chris, I think it was, like, really cool

just how everything was handled, came in and just, like, you realized, like, the guys that he played with, not much older than us. Right. And so yeah, but I'll talk to O'Neill, Minnesota. Yep. They all loved him. He said that's one of their favorite coaches he's ever had. But yeah, it is different.

You know, it's sideline to sideline. And for us, some more three-point stance at tackle. Yeah. But for us, I feel like it allows a defender to, it delays the run past knowing when it is a little bit longer when you're under center versus being in gun. And so for us, it kind of helps. but it is an adjustment just you know different landmarks and stuff and but it's all fun man we got a we got a great

group of guys in the room and we we have fun and we uh yeah we work you know what it is i know that a little different for you inside too land and or not as much of adjustment i mean a little the the three-point stance thing is an adjustment but again it's just uh i think the focus is a lot more on getting to the ball and playing fast versus, you know, a past system with a lot of problem solving at the line of scrimmage. And this is more just kind of let's get up there and just, you know, run our plays. And, you know, if the defense can't get set or stem the front, Vic loves to do all

that sort of stuff. So, yeah, big thing is just if we can get up there and catch them before they can get adjusted, I mean, that's kind of big philosophy of this offense. Call a play, run it. It's kind of, it's kind of nice. You can kind of check your brain. off a little bit, the line of scrimmage. I would imagine I'm not a fucking offensive line.

Before, though, we just basically tried to never let the quarterback throw hot. We tried to pick up all the protections. And, you know, Kelson, you've got to be a wizard in the middle. Yeah. It's an order. Especially some of these exotic bluses you get from decordinators like Flores or, I mean, Vic, you guys see that shit. Todd Bowles.

Yes. Yeah. Some exotic fucking blitzes. Spags. They just do a good job of hiding everything very late, doing stuff at the snap. Like, and wink, Martin Dale. Yes. Wink.

Yeah. I want to talk a little bit about camp, boys, because it was fun to be out there and just kind of pretend like I'm still part of the gang. You know, practice goes by a lot faster when you're not out there doing nine on seven and shit like that. But, you know, what's the experience been like at camp so far? Are you getting sick of the Eagles defensive line a little bit? Sick of camp. What are we, like, two weeks in? Yeah, only two weeks. I mean, shit.

If you don't know how to play football after two weeks, I think it's shut it down. I don't know. At this point, I mean, if it takes you six weeks to remember how to ride a bike, I mean, maybe you weren't meant to ride bikes. The only thing I care about in camp right now is that one, we've got a training room that you can fucking play baseball in now. That is nice. Have you seen the training system every night? And then so where the wall is in the back part of locker room, they're going to knock that out and extend it. We're going to have a whole other section of restrooms, showers.

Oh. Thank you, Jeffrey. It's just, hey, it's going to be, it's big. I know. The weight room looks fucking great too. I feel like after 52 there was a little bit of a glow up around the facility. I never got to enjoy it. It's like college. Yeah.

Yeah. You know. College. But yeah. So I want to talk a little bit. I mean, you guys, O. Lyman. I'm a D. Lyman. Got a lot of love and respect for O. Lyman.

But, you know, I'm a D. lineman at heart. Tell me a little bit about like what it's like going up against guys like Jordan Davis, fucking J.C. Morrow. It's a pretty good group of dudes in the front seven for your defense. Yeah. I mean, great.

Just, I mean, those three get right there in the interior. And I mean, you put on the edge like Nolan Smith and Jalix. And I mean, you got a five down rush group that rivals any in the NFL. So, I mean, kind of at that point, it's, you know, I'm sure you'd love to try and get a double team with J.C., JD, somebody, but, I mean, unless you're going to go like nine-man protection and just have one receiver out there and hopefully he's open, it's, I mean, it's going to be tough. but it's not as great going against those guys every day. And I mean,

I think they make us better. We make them better. And you just kind of see it pay off. It's like getting a buck and shooting on a fucking buck and bull every 30 seconds. Yeah. And just that's really what it's like. Got your work cut out for you in camp, man. No, it's good, though.

But you need that, man. You need guys that are going to test you. And you got to be technically sound with them because if you're not, you know, they can make a play really quick. Oh, yeah. I mean, I love Vick's defense too, man. And Vic Fangio, he's a guy that I want to play. play for so bad, you know, just be like a big fat noseguard in the middle.

Fucking all these exotic blitzes, some dogs around you, like what you want, man. Plus he just, Vic seems like an OG. He's telling me about the meatball stuff. He guys get a little jealous about the pasta parties that he throws for the defense. Yeah, I've heard all sorts of shit about that. Hey, I haven't seen one piece of spaghetti. No meatballs, no fucking cookies, nothing. But he is.

It's all code words. He's like the fucking, uh, the mastermind of the building. And he's like, hi, see, I want to get you. bribes people's spaghetti meatballs Lang calls it he's the penguin yeah he is pretty accurate and that scares me

yeah I can see that too I mean he's just like an old ornery angry man and like he just loves to like we'll do walk through the stuff early do like blitz pick up and stuff and he just sits there was you know his pants pulled up above his belly

button just looking at you okay he dials up all of his blitz package just for us and we're like he didn't fucking ass Like all he does stand around and watch us. We're like, don't you have that shit to do? Yeah.

You got to say something real witty to kind of get him intrigued in the conversation. Like he's going to dodge some bullshit. Yeah, so he's never intrigued in conversation with you. Unless we're talking about some, no, no, big school. We just don't, hey, we don't get much time between one-on-ones and practice. Right. You know, to really catch up. So I want to talk a little bit about, too, about some of the other.

I mean, we talked about, you know, new O-Line coach, but obviously new offensive scheme as well. We don't need to give away any secrets to future opponents and stuff like that but I don't know are you guys excited about the way the new the new scheme shaping up yeah he called run plays we call pass plays we have very excited yeah very good we got run we got we got pass we got play action we got play action we got a screen we got wide receivers and quarterbacks and we got running backs I said hey as long as we have some fucking bootlegs every now but I feel like we got we got bootleg plays it just it makes the defense cover

the whole field and if they over pursue and kind of how the run game is. Right. If you circle the wagon, if not, ride that way back side. So people had to be gap sound. I think a lot of the motions and shifts married up. So like I said,

it takes these guys on defense a little, puts them in a bind longer to make their decisions. I mean, as an O-Lime, you got to love like outside run game married up with boot, right? Like boot is a playoff for you guys. Yeah, you got to act. You got to keep your head down.

It's an acting career. You got to have that head buried in the, the detackle so the linebacker he can step a two forward and then the overroute clears him that's all he need yeah it's kind of like the buddy buddy and team you know you're appearing five we're like yeah let's make this look good we look like it look like we're strained that's what it is yeah elephant's on parade like you look at some of the best o lineman that you know in the NFL like i think of trump williams he's played in a similar scheme like this yeah it's all grind on the inside man it's sorry but yeah i feel like it can kind of help soften up the run play

action like married together can really soften up the edge you know what i mean oh yeah yeah yeah Yeah, it can. And for us, it's just, I feel like for really the zones, it's just the landmarks are a little bit different. Yeah. But like I said, it sequins up nice with our play action and try to make it look the same. But yeah, to your point, you're doing a lot of stuff out of gun

and guys are just rushing four and guys are just teeing off. And so with this, there is some delay. There is some hesitation. Yeah. If you're up and running. All right. Let's talk joint practice. I know you guys got Baltimore this weekend.

Looking a little ahead. to joint practice in New England. I feel like the preseason has changed so much, man. It's like, don't, I mean, you guys aren't going to play a ton in the preseason games, but it feels like you get the bulk of your work in joint practice with teams. Yeah, no doubt. Yeah, I don't think if you're three, I don't know if you'll get more than four plays in the entire joint practice.

Yeah. Yeah, you won't talk about days you remember. You remember the joint practice days. You remember when, were you here when Brady came here? Yeah, we did. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We did joint practice with New England. and it felt like every year.

We went up there twice and they came down here once. Brady went 34-34 on us one time. Oh, yeah, I remember that. That was a tough meeting, bro. We're sitting there in meetings and we're just getting carved up. We're like, what the fuck? Like, do we suck ass? I can't get to the quarterback because the ball's like that.

Yeah, exactly. I mean, can you explain just, I feel like people don't appreciate it. Like joint practices are intense. You get more reps than you do in a normal game, it feels like. And then kind of the first time where you're really playing against a defense. And it's really like honest football. Because when you get out here and you're going to get your, your defense every day. Obviously, they hear your communication, your words.

Yeah. And sometimes, and then when you go to another opponent, sometimes you get like an actual what it's going to feel like in the game. But it's just a good, it's a good way to test where your team is at early. I feel like if you have a good outing, teams like a good morale boost. Yeah. But walking to the hotel, everybody's kind of just, you know what I'm saying? Bubbles will puckered up. You know, it's like a game where you go on the field and leave, you know, you're out there just fucking, seems like eight, just 10 hours. It's two hour practice, but you're out there 10 hours.

Long practice. Yeah, especially up in New England. The thing, too, is like, I feel like it's always nice. It kind of brings your team together a little bit because, like, listen, D-Lyman, O-Lyman, you get sick of seeing each other, you get a little chippy in practice, shit like that. And now all of a sudden, like, it's you and your D-Liman and O-Liman against a different opponent. It kind of brings you together. And you're on the road. It's kind of fun of

to fuck around the hotel a little bit, too. I don't know. I mean, honestly, I mean, I wish we could just have cold beer after them, but apparently you can't do that. We're not in a free country anymore. You get fined. Let me talk about garage beer, Lannon. Hey, you know what, if you'll pay my fine. Get some of that garage beer.

I'll happily bring it out. So I want to look ahead too, a little bit to the season. I know that seems like a million miles away right now, like dog days of camp, but there is a season. You look and you find the bye week You find to see if you have Monday night Thursday night game and then you just forget about it until it's like... Yeah. I know we play Washington twice, giant, twice, Dallas twice.

There's a buy week somewhere. Yeah. That's all I need to know. I remember Chris, so the London trip, so we leave here and you're supposed to sleep on the plane over there.

Yeah. Nobody sleeps. And as soon as you land, if I can get on the bus and you go to maybe the hotel, I don't even know if you drop your stuff off. You just go to the practice.

We were straight to practice. And I can't, Chris Long kept saying, let's ignore the real science and fucking listen to sports science. Because nobody's, slept, we landed, and we just go straight to practice. And that was the phrase

of the day. You know nobody needed to that. Well, boys, I want to be courteous, I know you got time to get to meetings. You got we got a big camp day today.
