I think they worked some things out this week. And I think the darnel Washington penalty down at the goal line was a huge deal in pushing them back to the point where they didn't get a lead seven to three early in this ball game. Because Najee Harris hurtled a guy and Damner went into the end zone, got knocked out of the two-yard line by Nolan Smith, who played his ass off. That was a big sequence in the game. But I just loved the script early. You don't have to go out and run the ball 30 times a game. But if you're going to throw the ball, I just don't want to see a bunch of out of. to sink shots on second and long.

I don't want to see things where Jaylen's holding the ball and rolling right four and a half seconds. I want to see him at his best, which is decisive. Welcome to the Green Light podcast. Speaking of the Eagles, they had a big win over the Steelers this weekend. We talk about that game. We talk about the AFC playoff race. The Broncos took a big step while the Chargers took a big fall.

She took me to gamble for my birthday. and we get into the casino and we sit down at the pontoon blackjack table, which is Spanish blackjack, which means there's no tens, only face cards. It's different than regular blackjack.

I like it because it has good side bet odds. Me and my girl sit down and I start talking to the dealer, the pit boss, Ashley, she comes over and she goes, Are you Nate Collins from the Greenlight Pod? That's incredible. Yeah. And she goes, she goes, I recognize your voice. She goes, I literally listen to the pod on my way to work all the time.

Yeah. And she immediately gave me a player's card. She comped me and my girl $100 in drinks. She comped us $150 in food. Stop it. Bro. And then me and my girl proceeded to see. sit and we won.

Like we actually won money at the blackjack table. Yes. And so like this all, we get to the casino at probably like 9.30, 10. And this all happens before 11 o'clock. 9.30 in the morning? At night. I'm just fucking. My birthday is at the morning casino runs.

My birthday's at midnight. So once we're up, we decide to leave the table. So I was like, yo, I want to go into. to my birthday a winner and we used the rest of our drink credits and then we went to the little club in there and it was just an amazing night so I'm getting the best thing happy birthday again thank you um happy birthday facts how old 37 cheese how do you feel I feel good I feel great actually yeah show show the people off those waiters oh yeah and then my girl got me these amazing waiters so I can go fishing in any weather you're like Travis hunter with the fishing

You hear what they said? What Travis Hunter said? They said when you dream, what do you dream about? And he's like, I dream about fishing. Bro, when I was on the guard run, I swear on my life, that's how it was. Like when I didn't catch it and you like, you almost catch a fish, you dream about it. Yeah. You absolutely do.

off something and then wake up falling and like wake up hitting the ground yes now now i used to also have the dream that um that we could never beat tech and that wasn't a dream that was like I was like a reality there. So, but yeah, no, no, no. Congratulations to Travis Hunter on the Hysman. Heisman. Chris, it's funny you bring that up. I mean, Nate and I used to get a lot of arguments about Travis Hunter.

I actually have a worst seat. Fax beat the mention king to best seat. I got a worse seat. Here's to see what Dr. Fax thinks about this, but worst seat to Travis Hunter's girlfriend. Oh, fiance. His fiance. And I want to say, I'm glad you brought it up.

I want to say to that, young lady hold strong it's probably only going to get worse your man is going to be the number one pick and everyone right now they're vultures their clout demons you know what you have with your man and just stay true to yourself and your relationship fuck everyone else your man got your back he's been he's been at bat for you and look everything you do from here on now is going to be scrutinized especially because of how much clout it's getting right now who gives a fuck what comedians are saying? He's about to be the first round pick young black kid and he has a fiance and you guys are trying to break it up before he gets drafted what do you think is next in line if he's not with this girl it's going to be a bunch of vultures and and and gold diggers like lining up for this kid so just mind your own business mind your fucking mind your business honestly and like and you know what if you're also sure of it then put your money up put your money up if you're sure of it If they stay together, you should have to be penalized, you people online. I just, I can't take it anymore.

And then you go look at it later.

You're like, that's fucking crazy. Yeah, it's got 10,000 readweeds. Yeah. I mean, I'm on the alien train, Chris. Oh, no, I'm on the dirty bomb train. I think they're looking for a dirty bomb. And unfortunately, unfortunately, I got to go to Philly. I got to go up to up the eastern seaboard.

to do inside the NFL. Can you imagine if I just got incinerated while like giving a take on like the Eagles passing game? Yo. No, I mean, seriously. What do you mean? There's fucking a lot going on up in the sky, up in the sky. Just like a terminator two hanging on the fence.

But just so you know, to clear something up, my brother Kyle had tweeted that he saw an object in the sky, up in the sky, while he was flying in a commercial airliner. And it like really got picked up by a bunch of people, like a bunch of people, like conspiracy theorists, you know, military experts, all that stuff. And I talked to Kyle on the phone yesterday. and he was trolling.

He wasn't even serious. It's like you just don't know what you're amplifying. You might be amplifying a 300-pound troll. Like you just don't know, dude. So I don't know, man. Fingers crossed on the orbs. I hope we're all right. Don't you think, though, Chris,

isn't there something kind of, you know, I don't know, kind of nice, kind of positive about thinking that it's a benevolent alien race who's here to help us, you know, secure our future, not destroy planet.

That's a comforting thought. I like that idea. Sure. I like that idea, too. There's also the possibility that they came out of the ocean. I don't want to go too far down this rabbit hole. I got the ocean.

Geez, you're looking at that total and you're like, yeah, it's a lot of points. I said to Nolan before the game, I'm like, I'd rather bet the first half over. Maybe it slows down in the second half. 90 Burger. And we had the Bill's team total because we knew they'd score,

but I just did not know that the game would play out this way. 90 total points in this game. And I thought Buffalo getting the ball under that pile at the end of the game was very fitting. This was like a game where, yes, the firepower, yes, Josh Allen, yes, they just, they ran the ball up and down the field. But it was about who was scrappier. I really do believe that. And for them to come up with that ball into that pile, the loose ball where Milano beats James and Williams, it earlier on the fumble. They just, I don't want to say they wanted it more because Detroit

always wants it. But the bills came ready to play. They did not look like the team that was working on three days less rest than the team at home. The bills had to go to LA and playing a game that's wire to wire. And any defender knows in a game where there's 86 points scored or whatever it was, that's an attrition deal. You are tired at the end of that deal. And so then to take the trip to Detroit with everything that was on the line and play like that, the scrappiness, you know, the best way to keep Detroit from running the football is to affect the game script. And I think they did that. I mean, that's what they did. They got a three and out early. And then they made them punt on the second possession after blitzing a condensed formation,

which we said early downs. You need to get them behind the sticks, even if it's just once or twice in a game like this. Because at that point, then you're playing to your script. And the little guys were triggering in the run game. It just again, Sean McDermott gets little guys to play big. Bishop Johnson, Bernard, who he's not a little guy, but he's definitely more of a move around linebacker. They were knifing in there early. And when you play Detroit, you know, I think, and in general, we don't make a big

enough deal about how do the DBs get involved in the run fit? I mean, we thought that Detroit had an advantage up front, which honestly, it didn't play out that way, surprisingly. But those guys, you know, when Amin Ra is in the slot and you get a feeling that he's going to come down and block the safety, can the safety beat him to a spot? You know, is the backer on these gap scheme runs going to be able to trigger and meet the puller in the hole? There was a lot of that and these guys were triggering downhill. And I think once they got the lead, they knew they could keep it. And that's what I think they came into the game thinking is like, if we can get up on these guys a possession, it's going to be hard.

and they give Josh the cushion he needed and Ed Oliver, I just want to shout him out. I know we're talking a lot of defense right here off the top but I think the Bill's defense who two weeks you give up 80 plus points, you're kind of like, why would you gas them up?

But I thought the guys on defense, including the secondary making big plays, Benford on the punchout, Taryn Johnson blowing up Amin Ross St. Brown. When you, right, what? Made them do the Fortnite crawl. I've never seen St. Brown do that. That's it, dude.

Brown is the hammer, not the nail. Yes. And there's something, too, when your best guy, when your flag bearer gets pop like that. Yes. And I thought, you know, and Amin Ra is a tough guy, dude. He's an SOB. The tough is. Son of a bodybuilder, as I like to say.

That's good. And this dude, for him to like get up slow, like the bills were bringing a different kind of physicality in the back end. But Ed Oliver, I love this guy. He's what, go ahead. That's actually my game ball. Game ball, Ed. Before you get you deep in it. Go ahead.

You give it. You give it. to give it to them got to give it to those interior defensive line and man at all over his ball and what he had like 11 pressures on 12 like 12 or 13 rushes or something like that he had nine he had nine pressures I think he speed bumped maybe the best center in the league lined up right over rag now ran him over got after glasgow he was just a beast he was a beast in the run game too yeah great player man great player love ed all yeah game ball and you know you might think we're going to give it to josh allen and i'll give a josh allen game ball out but

MVP performance. I know that Lamar, who we're going to talk about in a little bit, might have some marginally better stats in some areas. But that didn't matter in the past when Lamar won the MVP. It's not always about best stats. The eyeball test, like watching this guy play, that ball to Coleman on the right side. I wrote down, I was like, need I say more?

Like, that's it. It's just the plays. He had probably seven plays, seven throws in this game, that, you know, would be anybody else's best throw. this season, you know, save for a couple guys. And, you know, getting the running backs involved was obviously a big part of the game plan. When you have like Juan Alexander out there and certain guys and they're missing Anzolone. And, you know, that was a big part of the game plan. You could tell early, Ty Johnson throws were amazing, buying time. And the toughness. When Pascal hit him at the end of the

game, he's in the air in the fetal position. And Pascal, who's a big man, just drives right through him. I thought there's no way he's getting up. Even for Josh Allen, he's going to get up slow. He didn't. I know he had to go get an x-ray at the end of the game. I think it's when he fell on his shoulder, which is a little bit concerning going into a week where you're laying 14. He got up doing these.

Yeah, he got up doing a little like AC adjustment. But I think he'll be okay, obviously. It just might be one of those things that carries over in the next week. And it's a good thing that they have the Patriots. And they might not have to air it out all day. they can run the football. But the O-line, lots of pullers, kicking these guys out on the edge, and the drive out of the half was a real statement.

I think to beat Detroit, I would have guessed. Sean McDermott said a couple of things. Number one, the little guys have to play big, and they always do. But you've got to become Detroit to beat Detroit, and I thought they did. I mean, they ran the ball for almost 200 yards. Some of that's QB run. Some of that's James Cook. And like we said, the lions couldn't get the ball.

going on the ground early, and then once the game script flipped, it just wasn't an option. We've been talking all season about Josh's last year. His career, he's had some interceptions, some turnovers in bad spots, and we said going to this year, he's got to clean that up. Over his last three games, zero sacks, zero fumbles, zero picks, one negative play, that play was the kneel down at the end of the game against the Lions. No question. And I want to say that, I mean, he's done a really good job of keeping the ball out of harm's way.

honestly like the people don't want to hear this i know i've ruffled some feathers last week talking about my homes and we're going to talk about my homes in a second because i said that i'd take josh allen right now over my homes i didn't think that would be a hot take some people really reacted poorly to that there's a there's a twitter thread still going on with people arguing and i'm i'm like god bless him it's unbelievable i'm just not going to get involved i'm not and and to argue about two amazing quarterbacks to the point where you're calling each other's names online strangers like that's I think it's the worst I think it's the worst like it's the holiday season man you know enjoy your holiday there's two two of the best of our generation one of them just seems to be

playing a lot better right now and the point I was going to make is like my homes is putting the ball in harm's way a lot more than Josh this year and I know he doesn't have an ideal set up and you know but but revisionist history here whether we're talking about the MVP and the deck that Josh has to work with or doesn't. Like coming into the season, a lot of people said this was going to be a retooling year for Buffalo. And they've added Amari Cooper. That's pretty much it, right?

So, like, he's doing a lot with what you said was a little. Don't move the goalposts now and act like they're the greatest show on turf. I mean, he's gotten a lot out of Kincaid. That's what we said. You know, this offense runs through the tight ends. It runs through the slot receiver. And then we didn't know that Coleman was going to be a very good possession receiver. He's been that for them.

And Cooper is still a very dependable guy. You know, you can throw him 50-50 balls, and he's a great route runner. So they've really just made the most of what they have. And I think for Kansas City, they're wounded. I mean, you can see it when they're playing. I think Mahomes is starting to press. We'll talk about that in a second. But coming out of this game, and I want to give Detroit fans who I know are screaming at the computer or the phone or wherever you're watching this, we're really banged up.

I know you are. Yeah. And if you were at full strength, this would be even more of an epic game than it was. And if you get back there to see them again, I think it's going to be a great game and one that you can win. But in your current form, even with, I got a shout out the Bills and Bobby Babich that defense. They're missing guys on the back end. No question. But the Lions have more problems right now.

They really do. And coming out of this game with Alie McNeil getting hurt. Yeah, ACO. ACL, Carlton Davis with a broken jaw. Broken jaw. Yeah, that's rough. And a broken leg too for who is at Dorsey? Dorsey had to go to the hospital.

Montgomery. God, please. And then the Montgomery thing pops up. MCL, yeah. Cowboy just put it up in the chat. Like, are you worried about Detroit's injury issues? We talked about this a little bit, Chris. I'm very worried about it. I mean, they have, what, 16 players on their defense that have been

like on I or like miss time at some point which is incredible like they play a very physical brand of football we know that they got out physical last night by the bills it's like you just look at this going down the stretches how are they going to beat teams you know i don't know like they're going to need to beat teams like you know 24 to 17 in order to be successful in the playoffs with all the injuries that they've had especially in defense i just can't see them limiting teams like i wouldn't be surprised if and i'm like you're a card carrying member of bills mafia i love the line I want this to be their year. I love what Dan Campbell's building.

I love their O line. They're running backs. I think Ben Johnson is going to be a great head coach next year. So I'm rooting for the Lions. I just am kind of envisioning now that they get knocked out of the playoffs in round one. I don't think that they can do enough to secure a number one seed in the NFC going on the stretch with these injuries. And I just feel like they're going to get surprised by a good team because they're so banged up. I see the chat popping off here.

But I just think they lose. Like I just can't see a situation. I don't think that's a, I don't think that's a hot take. I don't think you're being malicious. We all love the lions. We love Dan. The attrition that this team's had to deal with. Honestly, you know, in 17, when we won it, we had some big injuries, right?

But the depth stepped up. And now they're dipping in depth bag. And on top of it, the depth bag is starting to get decimate a little bit. And so, you know, like it kind of depends on the matchup. And you say 2417, I think they're going to have to beat teams like, 40 to 37. Like in my opinion, that game is the type of game they're going to have to win. They're not going to see a lot of Josh Allen's in the NFC.

That's the one good thing they have controlling the clock, you know, running the ball. They can win that way too, maybe. POP. Yeah. I don't know. Maybe they can get one or two crucial takeaways on defense. I think they do a pretty good job with that under Glenn. But it's just like, I want them to win.

I want them to win the Super Bowl. I've fucking like the lines. I just don't know, you know, how they're going to get it done. I got to look at the rest of their matchup in the NFC North, which is like probably a strong. You know what sucks? What? What sucks?

The new kickoff rule because the Lions could have definitely benefited from a surprise onside kick in this game. The fact that they went for that onside kick so early in the fourth. And it's something that me and Kingston talked about that playing against Josh Allen, that's what it makes you do. Yeah. It makes you have to make erratic decisions in the moment. to kind of like calculate how we can have a chance to get back.

They almost got the last one. They almost got the last one. But there's going to be a lot of people questioning, Dan, and they already are about that on-site kick, but it was pretty clear that they were not going to get stops. And so, like, I'm not going to kill him for that. Yep. And I said if he felt that way, like, kind of the best case scenario,

if you're not going to get the outside kind of happened is the fact that they got the ball and they got it close enough quick. quit. If you're thinking about time. Yeah. No, it really ends up being a deal where you need the bills to turn the ball over or you need to steal a possession. Because they were just too good. And as the as Vilder enters the game and all these guys are up and down, you could tell them the second half, it was just going to be a problem. So, you know, looking at the lions right now, Matt Nackie, how would you, I mean, we might as well do it right now, I guess. But the NFC, home field advantage situation.

I would say first of all, it's important to ignore the projections because they can't take into account things like injuries to the lions. But right now, the lions are still chilling for the number one seat. If they went out,

they'll be fine. They'll be at first. Guys, we're chilling. If the Vikings went out, they'll get first. Yeah. Because they play in that last week. And the Eagles,

if they go 15 and 2 and went out, they would need both the lions and the Vikings to lose at least one game, which is a huge deal. I mean, it could get complicated for the Eagles and the Vikings, right? Because, okay, you go, they could end up with the same record, right? There's not a lot of common opponents, I think, between those two teams. Yeah, it would go down to the fourth tiebreaker, which is measured by strength of victory. It's actually strength of victory, which the Vikings would have, no matter what in this case. But barely, right? So the bottom line is they need, They need somebody to lose two games.

They just need both of them to lose one game. Okay, yeah, but yeah, okay, both of them to lose one game. While winning out themselves. Got it, got it, got it, got it, okay. And potentially they could be in a situation where in week 18, they're looking at it knowing they can't win the number one seed, so they could rest everybody, very realistically. Which they would need, absolutely.

But I don't know, man, I think the NFC towards the top, it's all about matchups. and that includes the Eagles. None of those teams are immune to the matchup issues that pop up with one bad matchup or two bad matchups in the NFC. And we'll get into that a little bit more as we talk about the playoff picture at large. But just a huge. And again, the Lions have been doing this for so long.

They've been busting their ass. They've been playing balls out. They've been winning games against good teams. Like these things happen. Whether or not you're injured, eventually you lose a game. So we're not saying the lines are out of it, but with the injuries, it's going to be hard. No question. Before we move on from this game, I have my Beville Conway.

If I had to guess, the bills because of the quarterback, had the best fail safe. Seriously, and Jared Gough played amazing. I mean, amazing. I think that Josh Allen's slide got my wife pregnant. That's funny. That is funny. That's really funny. You talk about Jared Gough?

What if it's a six, seven quarterback? You know? You talk about Jared Gough. It was a couple weeks ago. He threw five picks in a victory. And yesterday he threw five touchdowns in a loss. Yeah. It's crazy.

Well, I think also like, hey, if Houston was more, if they had their shit together offensively, they win that game. 100%. You know, and that's the difference is, you know, get these guys down with the in the current state of their defense it's just going to be hard for them it's a it's a it's a game script that even with their firepower they don't want to follow it now they almost won that game they almost won that game but it just felt like the whole game Detroit was in control so uh we're talking about the aFC now where where the bills um wait

hold on can i do my bevel real quick yeah do your bevel i thought this was cool yeah i forgot i got a little i got a little distracted anyway bevel conway for this game don't say the black line in at midfield. No, but I did actually kind of like that. The Lions did have their black helmets on. I thought it was cool because CBS, unlike the score ticker at the bottom, and the background of it,

they had the alternate color as black. I thought that was just a very nice attention to detail from the broadcast team there. And here's what I think is a really poor job of paying attention to details by the Detroit Lions. They like wearing ugly get-ups at home. Yes. Oh, you agree?

It's crazy. I had another one. I almost forgot. Their jerseys were my anti-bevel. It's not the, it's the helmets. But all of it, like, what is black, like, when is black ever in their color? It's like in the early 2000s where every high school was like, oh, let's incorporate black into the team color. Yeah.

Dude, when we were in Philly and we wear black, it was so sexy. I loved it. It was cool. It felt so suave and like. But oftentimes the lid holds you back. I think if you're going to go all black in your line. go with not a shiny black, but just a black-looking helmet, not Matt, just a regular old-school black helmet. We don't need to, with a script lions in Honolulu Blue and go from there, dude,

that would be, that would be sick. Yeah. Yeah. But, you know, people, and when they, I saw all the, the preseason projections for the Lions uniforms, and I'm still waiting to see the right home uni combination. They keep going all blue. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? Mix it up a little bit. And then they go all black. The lions will be bad. That's not what I was asking for. But Kansas City, they maintain their lead for home field advantage. But it kind of feels like they lost a step.

Like, no matter what they do this year. And, hey, I want to be fair to this team. They've won so many games. I mean, like, this is incredible for a team to be. How many times has the team been, what, 13 and 1? Or what are they? 13 and 1? How many times the team been 13 and 1 in the history of the league?

It just doesn't happen a lot. I think the Panthers may be. They were 15 and won that one year. 15 and won that one year. But like, it's something, there's something to be said for having won all these games. And, you know, like, the eye test doesn't really check out. When you watch their film, you're like, damn, everything's just a struggle. Like, offensively, it's a struggle.

And that's why they made the changes up front and that sort of thing. I think Joe Tooney, who did an admirable job giving up only 10 pressures on the day. I mean, it's like, hey, buddy, you're going to do a job that's totally different than the job that you do every other day and it's going to be the toughest day of the year to do it. It's funny you say that, Chris. I actually have an STL Memorial for a tuning. Like, it's impossible. You're playing guard.

You're moving out. You're playing left tackle against literal, like, you talk about Josh Allen being an alien. Miles Garrett is an alien. That guy is a genetic freak. Okay. I don't like people I think there's kind of this thought that you can you know and a lot of teams do this you know the Patriots actually do it a lot which sort of Joe played the past I was with him on that roster but you move O line you're like okay like you can you have a lot of injuries at O line like we'll bump this guy over here we'll move whoever you know and ask ask your brother Kyle about playing yeah you know left tackle versus right tackle how uncomfortable did you feel every now and then Chris playing right on the right side and you're like yeah exactly yeah I always played on the right every now and then I'd play like left three tech I think I'm like, where the fuck am I? Dude, it feels totally, and to add to the fact that all of a sudden you're in space against the best player in the world, like, I, again, like, we're not poking fun. Like, this is a job no guard in the NFL would want to do, but it's a job they're going to need them to do. And honestly, it can only get easier from here. But this week, they do have to deal with the edge guys from Houston, at least they're at home.

You know, I think that was a really, and you know, Calli Endo, who's their, their obligatory pies on that they play a guard with Aligh Gray. moving on to the Washington commanders. This guy, Caliando, does a nice job in there. And I honestly think this is the combination. Because with the way that Mahomes sets, he sets with a lot of depth. I know the interior three, it's nice to have Trey Smith and Joe in there and Creed because the run game, you know, you can really control the ball.

But with Mahomes' dropped target, he likes to drift back. You need somebody athletic who can get out there. they were throwing no hitters at tackle like joe knows where to be and at least he's going to get in the way and uh he's he's he's a he's a dependable guy it's always easier to to drop somebody in a guard and you know after humphre's got hurt last week it just became apparent that they were going to do something all together differently so this is probably what you're going to see going forward and i like it um having said that Patrick mahomes now has a high ankle um and he's had these ankle injuries before you remember the jacksville game in the playoffs like this is something you don't want to linger

and he's been hit a lot the last three weeks listen Andy read is the best right I'm not telling him anything he doesn't know but I don't like them rolling him out into an unblocked miles Garrett away from his throwing hand in a 21-0 ball game I don't like them him climb in the pocket up 21-7 at the 40 yard line going on fourth down that's how he got hurt he's gotten hit like 40 times the last three weeks it feels like and so you know this is something that you're gonna have to you're gonna have to remedy but when he gets back to me if there's any doubt at all you have to play carson wins that's why he's here you know and here i am carson went sucker i'm like i watched him throw two balls and they were both like little underneath throws him like man he looks good you know i'm getting ready to jump out

of the gym for people forget man no honestly MVP come on we've said this with with multiple quarterbacks in the past. We said it with Baker Mayfield. Watch. When Baker Mayfield gets another job, he spent a year at quarterback school or part of a year with the Rams. Now he's reunited with Liam Cohen.

He had time with McVeigh. It's the same thing with Darno when he goes out west with Shanahan. You know, it gives guys a break. You know, it helps them develop their game. Carson Wentz might be somebody's quarterback next year. And these games, if he has an opportunity,

are going to go a long way in giving him a chance at act too um so we'll see i mean this weekend's a big one for them they're kind of in a rock in a hard play situation where it's like hey we have to win this is the team that i've said over and over again cannot go on the road and win like they did last year but you know even if that's the case you'd rather have to do that than lose my homes because high ankles can get worse well that's kind of what i'm wondering chris because like okay point home field of vans especially at arrowhead in the playoffs is massive. Like, we talk about that all the time. So if you're Andy Reid, if you're Patrick Mahomes, are you pushing to come back to secure that, you know, that, that, that number one seed or,

I mean, I guess we'll know. No, you're playing Carson. You're playing Carson. You don't think there's any world in which Mahomes plays because he comes back in these injuries, these ankle injuries pretty quickly. He said after the game, I would have gone back in. And Andy Reed said, hey, it's probably a precaution. We might have put him back in. And part of that might be coach speak to get the Texans to prepare for for two for my homes but um i also think you know if you look at it like this is this isn't a high powered offense anyways how many points do you need to beat houston Houston the way they played offensively and we're getting to them in a little bit you know they won the game yesterday but it's not like they all sudden look like a great

show on turf you can beat these guys scoring 23 points and i do believe that's how the chiefs have been winning they've been winning not scoring more than 30 points no i know i know but but what I'm saying is Carson Winskins is playing great. Carson Wenskin scored 20. Now, the thing I worry about with the defense is Chamari Conner leaves the concussion. You know, you're down another guy, possibly this weekend, playing against Houston, who's got a nice set of wide receivers.

Like, that is a worry for me. And I do think the defense largely has kept the points down. But part of that is, you know, Kansas City being able to possess the football, Spags being a smart coordinator. The shots have gotten them. And, you know, there will be shots this weekend. So I think the best plan of attack, if Mahomes is a little bit banged up or has a high ankle, is try to go win this game without him because you might need Carson to get snaps at some point in the playoffs.

It's not the worst thing to get snaps right now, and you still have a game to play with, right? So even if you lose this game, you can bring Mahomes back. I play with a high ankle. I play with a high ankle all season in 2011 shot it up. Those things can get worse. Those things can get a lot worse. And I also think Mahomes, like he's played with high ankles before he's played with. with ankle injuries um you know it can it can really affect you long term if you don't rehab it

correctly and part of rehab is just getting a break so um you know and and not to be to start like some mass hysteria but high ankles can get worse and guys sometimes need surgery for these things like tightrope uh surgeries on these high ankles i'm not saying that's where it's going but you got to be you got to be fucking careful dude and got to be careful they're playing Saturday and then they're playing Wednesday next week too, which is also where this kind of becomes complicated for them with that decision. They don't have any slouches left either. I mean, they got, they have Houston, who's dangerous, and then they have the Steelers on Christmas. Houston, Pittsburgh, and then finish with Denver. The Broncos, yeah. And so in Denver, who took them to the wire, I would

be eyeing that Wednesday game. I'd say, hey, like, you got 10 days. Let's try to get you right. And only they know how bad it is. But I want to say this about defense. They play well. Carloftus played well bolton played well mcduffy that picking the end zone is one of the best plays of the day if it's true that he was looking at the damn big board there's a shot of him the cameras on the end line and he's trailing a deep ball and at the very last second he glances away from the receiver almost like up above the crowd and then back to the ball and in my mind like when i hear hey this guy was looking at the the jumbo tron immediately i'm like no he's not there's no way. But I think he might have been.

And that's incredible. Everywhere with all to do that is DPs are different animal, man. I wouldn't even consider that. You know what I mean? Well, and even to... I thought I was slick when I'd look at the play clock out and down. I'll do okay, get a quick little jump, you know? And even to look at the big board and know where you are on that board and be able to

turn in the right direction because that's reversed from you to be able to find yourself find the ball thrower and then turn around and find the ball is no it's it's pretty amazing and did i read this right is his first interception really at least on the year i thought i read it first of his career i don't believe that that doesn't sound right yeah pff has him uh or pro football reference has one interception 24 how about for his career like like one one interception the first one That's wild, dude. No, so what a way to get your first pick. And then I want to say this, Jerry Judy, over a thousand yards for the Cleveland Browns.

But like for a guy, and I'm always very, I'm on this guy's side. I'm on, you know, a guy like this, Beckton, who we saw in the Eagles game, who we'll talk about in a second, like guys that were kind of discarded. for different reasons, whether injury or just it wasn't a fit, but Jerry Judy, good for him. He's cementing himself as a really good player in the league.

And there were people that were writing him off. So tip of the cap to Jerry Judy in an imperfect situation, going for a G for the Cleveland Browns, bro. No, great. Happy friend, but I haven't mentioned for this game, and it's Hollow Man. My Hollow Man, unfortunately, is going to one of my favorite players, James Winston.

James Winston with him being a church man, he should know that God with God, if you be specific, he listens and he asked God to deliver him from pick sixes, and he did that instead of asking God to deliver him from picks altogether. Like, are you hollow manning God right now? No, it's James.

um i actually had a worst flight for this game as well and that's the chiefs you know you get a win in in cleveland and that's all well and good but a lot of a lot of uh concern about mohams's ankle and things like that and hey high ankle sprained suck chris we talk about that shit all yeah you know that thing swelled up on that out that's not a fun flight oh yeah i know he had some job socks on some fresh Sure. Compression sleeve. Think about the high ankle is you feel it in your killies.

It feels like, you know, when you roll your ankle, it's that puffy swelling. But when you get a high ankle sprain, it's more of like a shooting pain every time you step. Seriously, like I remember going out there. You saw him walking off the field. It's tough, man. Dude, it sucks. So I'm hopeful that he's okay. But all in all, I want to say this, he's forcing balls.

I think the guy's tired. I think he's tired. This chapter of his career, and it's hard to blame him. You know, like, I'm not saying he's trying to, like he's tired of people like me saying Josh is the best quarterback after six,

eight weeks of this. But he is, he's missing. He's missing some balls and he's forcing some. Part of that is the way they're winning these games, Chris. Like he's usually, I mean,

in the past, he's been the guy. He's been the reason they're winning games. They're winning games because of block kicks and, all sorts of other stuff like that you can there win games because of him because of who he is on third down you just have to be so precise throughout the things he has to do to be consistent through a drive a lot of other quarterbacks in the NFL don't have to do that um and so like he's being held to a higher standard fair or not fair um and then i think at times he's like let me go get it all in one throw

and you know there was a throw last the james that's the james that was the throw he made to work where the pockets clean, worthy on like a deep over, like, or a speed post or whatever the fuck you want to call it. Yeah. But he, he was, I mean, there's another safety kind of, kind of squeezing him in the end zone. And Travis is sitting there underneath for like 20 yards. And, you know, he's not even looking at him. And it's just one play. But I think it's, it's emblematic of kind of at times what you've seen watching them is like a little impatience. And I don't blame him because last year was the drops and the tackle the tackle play. This year it's the tackle play.

And just the way it's kind of gone, everything feels like a big effort for them. You know, and that's got to be exhausting. But at the end of the day, the Chiefs fans will tell you it's all about winning. So if they get in the dance, you know, I'm never going to count them out. I just don't think in their current form

they're what they were the last couple of years because of what the defense is going through a little bit. Shout out to Andy Reed and that staff. That's like a testament to coaching too, right? Like, you're 13 and one and you're winning a bunch of ugly-ass games week after week after week after week. And it really isn't like the defense or the offense is elite. It's not like that. It's not like either one has like.

Defense is pretty good on Sunday, but yeah. The defense was pretty good on. But are you saying they're elite? Because if you've watched them all year, they're not. They got me 22 fantasy points and I'm looking to be making in our fantasy playoffs. So I'm kind of stoked about that. I don't think, I don't think the chiefs are a matchup. like. I just like spags. are really good. Not the Chiefs. I don't think the bills are a matchup they like. I don't think, let's see. But they've historically had the bill's number. Yeah, historically. In the playoffs. see this year. So I guess I'll be wrong until I'm right. If they come up, you know, if they get the bills, I think it's going to be ugly. When he's decisive, he's a damn good quarterback. When he's not decisive, he is not a good quarterback. If we can get that out of him, and I'm talking about that first drive, they come out, they go stick nod right out of Landon Roberts. They have a plan. They execute it. They hit a slant. They hit a crosser. He knows where he's going with the ball. He holds the ball for a half-second lesson he did last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers. And part of that to me is the Steelers, and we talked about this last week on inside the NFL,

the Steelers do what they do defensively. I'm pretty sure they said in this game, we're going to run our shit, and Mike Thomas said, we need the big guys that went up front, which to me is a miscalculation, because the big guys aren't going to win up front. That group up front's too good.

And if you give Jalen a clear picture, he's going to pick it apart. And if Kellan Moore has a game plan like that, they're going to roll. And so in the first half, getting out to a lead, I know they didn't score a bunch of points in the first quarter.

For a second there was Harry. They overcame, probably his only bad decision of the day. The angle of that scramble having to cut it back inside the T.J. Watt and T.J. with the punch out, sometimes the guy's just better. But then the Cooper's Gene muffed punt.

They overcame that. Like, that's something that last year this team probably doesn't overcome. A couple weeks ago, I don't know if they overcome it. I think they worked some things out this week. And I think the darnel Washington penalty down at the goal line was a huge deal in pushing them back to the point

where they didn't get a lead, seven to three early in this ball game because nausea harris uh hurtled the guy and damn near went into the end zone got knocked out of the two yard line by nolan smith who played his ass off um that was a big sequence in the game but i just love the script early you don't have to go out and run the ball 30 times a game but if you're going to throw the ball i just don't want to see a bunch of out-of-sync shots on second and long i don't want to see things where jalen's holding the ball and rolling right four and a half seconds i want to see him at his best, which is decisive. And if you don't, and if you don't like my assessment of the quarterback, you can kick rocks. You can go watch another show. We're not here to kiss your ass. We're here to tell

if the quarterback played well or not. This week he played really well. And if he plays that way, they're going to be okay. Am I worried about him? I said I was worried about him last week. I'm always a little worried about Jalen, just because sometimes if he holds the ball too long, the floor is pretty low. But if he's playing with timing, that was really impressive. And this is what that that that team demands. Chris, I want to address Matt Minner in the chat goes, what's your take on the Siri, Siri, Siri Bitt where he was trying to talk to Carter and the D-line coach stopped him? I love it. Significant or just the media digging their heels in on this narrative is insignificant. I mean, game day is emotional, high, strong. Jalen is a young player.

Totally insignificant. I don't personally know him, but like he's the kind of guy where, you know, Just like talk it out after. Talk it out after the game. You don't need to address it on the sideline. Everyone's emotions are running high. I think Hurt was just saying like, let me talk to my guy. Let me get him right. There's nothing else to that.

So it's a great. That's a absolute great job by a position coach, knowing your guy and knowing your head coach, and knowing when to intervene at the right time before something gets way worse than it needs to be because everyone knows emotions are high. Everyone wants to win. Everyone wants to do well. Everyone wants to do their job well. And I just think that's a perfect time.

That is what you signed up for when you play in Philadelphia. But I will say this, I've seen that plenty of times where a player makes a totally boneheaded

play. And Jalen's one of my favorite players in the league, but he made a boneheaded play. And his emotions got the best of them. Objectively hilarious. Objectively a dumb play. And then he's on the sideline. And how it probably went was this. Clint Hurt is reading him a riot act

And Siriani comes over to get a piece of him And Clint Hurt says Like a good D-line coach Hey, I got this. I got this. I understand this guy. I'm in the locker room with him. I'm in the meeting room with every day. I got this.

into the Trevor Penning knocked him into the bench and then Washington who's basically like a fucking offensive tackle decides he's going to put him on public transit puts him on the wall like a hockey fight and Slay punches him now he got away with it I'm not and I ain't snitching because everybody saw it oh it was so home cooking he's going to get a FedEx him and quit no but here's the problem nobody could see it there were too many bodies in there when you're in a melee like that people the people outside can't see that's my thing with the refs they're so quick to phone in and say we've seen this or seeing that on personal fouls. But like if you're giving the other team a personal foul. Yeah, but the other guy had a personal foul. It happens all the time

of the NFL where the second guy gets, doesn't get caught. All the time. I know. Yeah. And in that scenario, I think there were so many bodies in there was hard to see like Malik Washington made him disappear. So nobody could see him punching him. And good on Quigniard getting in there too as a rookie and wanting to smoke. But Darius Slay, that was a big draw on penalty. Why did you try it? Why is everyone try and slay? I don't know. Like, as a D-Lyman, when you play noseguard, sometimes you're going to get double teams where guys are going to take advantage of you. Yeah. But did you see on the Josh Sweatsack the power that he brought to disrupt that play

through the chipper and the tackle just played his ass off. And again, I've told you, he hustled and knocked down Harris on that play before the big penalty. If he doesn't knock down Harris, he might be in the end zone. And then who knows? But I thought Mitchell, again, steadily just. doing his damn job. And can we close out the defensive rookie of the year conversation? I don't know that,

and I mean no disrespect to any of the rushers who are involved. I love Jared Verst. I think Lattu's played well. I think Chop Robinson's play well. They've all got four or five sacks. But back in the day, when I was a kid, four or five sacks as a rookie wasn't defensive rookie of the year conversation

stuff. And you could tell me it's pressures, but people suddenly don't care about the sacks. Now they care about the pressures. It's the corner. The corner in Philly's one of the best in the league at what he's doing, which is playing corner, which is one of the most important positions on the field. So I think this should be a runaway for this kid. Just throw on the tape. I think it's a rusher to win defensive player the year. You have to be up near 10 sacks. Will Anderson had seven last year,

disrupted the game in a lot of different ways. But I think, you know, cash it. If you got that Quignan Mitchell ticket, if you don't get the money out of that thing, I feel like he got robbed. Is he going to be up for like others like all pro and all that too? Yeah, I mean, yeah, for sure. You can still get that at plus money, plus 105 right now. Oh, what? I think they match up well against the lions. I think people sleep on the Vikings. I think the Vikings, if they have to go to Minnesota, the Vikings, yes, the Vikings and the Eagles are the two best NFC football teams. You know,

Chris Long and Bowie, and Super Bowl 52 champs are maybe a little biased. I'm not sure if you guys might think that. But I think the Vikings, I think that, there can be an argument to be made that the Vikings are the best. I also think there's another team that we're going to talk about a little bit. Go ahead.

What did you say? I just think just the way the lions are manged up is why they're not in that conversation. If the lions played the Eagles today, you'd have a hard time covering AJ Brown, a really hard time. You'd have a hard time covering Devante Smith. Sey Kahn would have 180 yards. You'd have to pick your poison on the receivers. And they'd be able to run the football. They'd be able to protect.

Detroit would not have a lot of pass rush. they'd have to manufacture stuff. And I think then the question becomes, can you guard up on the other side of the ball? And I think you can. Eagles would win 33 to 24. David Montgomery is out of the picture right now. We'll see for how long.

Again, I'm not saying, hey, the Lions weren't better six weeks ago. They were. But I can only deal in reality here. And this is in homerism. Like, I don't know with the Lions' health. Now, if the Eagles got in, there are teams like,

And so that's another matchup that I'd be a little nervous about. but I do think right now that the best team in the NFC just stacking them up. And you said yesterday about the bucks, you Baker through those two picks, we'll get to that game later, but Baker through those two picks and you said he's unfazed. He's on the second half tossing darts.

Like, okay. Rams. Stafford. I think the Ram flows defense. That's, I mean, that's kind of, we've already seen it. Like, it would just be such classic, you know, and I, like, I'm, I'm a Vikings fan, man. Like my whole, I want to actually, they're playing obviously tonight, Monday night football against the Bears that's in Minnesota.

Ryan Griffin, one of my longtime buddies, he's been on the pod before. I want to give him a little bit of love. And more than anything, Seattle just got bullied up front. The movement that they were getting up front, the Green Bay was getting in the run game early,

just, it defined the game. You know, sometimes you wait all day for a game like this in a matchup that you're not sure how it's going to go. the first drive, you're kind of like, oh, shit, it's one of these. And it just felt like Seattle was going to have a hard time stopping the run. And then on the other side of things, they really couldn't run the ball because of the game script. Sharbonnet had a decent game, but they weren't committed to it. And more than anything, they gave up seven sacks and 12 hits on the quarterback. And obviously, Sam Howell, who loves sacks, loves them. Just a sackaholic, this guy. Santa.

I mean, that definitely played into the final numbers, but it felt like they just got whipped up front. You love sacks almost as much as he loves chicken. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Nearly. What was it with the chicken last year? He only eats chicken? Only eats chicken.

like even if they get in, I just don't feel like it's going to happen. Gino's not playing well enough at large this year to carry this team. He's banged up now. And now he's banged up and like, what do you do? You turn to Sam Howl in a must-win game. the the packers man and and the areas of the field they can access because of jordan love's arm like Jordan Love, who's proved to be a pretty good cold weather quarterback, which is half of playing late in the year, go figure the guy plays in Green Bay. But, you know, he's played well in the elements. You know, I think he's played better as a year has gone on. There were the injuries early in the year. They're kind of playing their best ball right now.

Even in a loss to Detroit, I thought they played really well. You know, to get the points before the half, that really killed Seattle. To come out of the half down three scores. If you come out of the half and say, hey, you're down 14, We got a shot to come out and get points and make it a one-score game, which puts a lot of pressure on Green Bay. They just couldn't do that because of Jordan Love's arm and the armed talent. And the 50-50 ball trust he puts in now Christian Watson and Romeo Dobbs

and obviously Jaden Reed and Wicks and those guys do the work underneath in the middle of the field. They really are an explosive group. And when you had Josh Jacobs to that equation, they're scary. You know, they got a lot of movement up front. I'll say this on defense. Adrian Cooper was gone for almost a month. He comes back immediate impact. That guy was all over the field.

Really good player. Makes a big difference. You talk about the reason they're ascending, not only halfway doing a better job in general, but the linebacking core, you know, has turned over a good bit since the days of what, Devonjay Campbell, because now in San Francisco.

with the additional lineback. You got to remember, he went from Baltimore, some of the talent they had in the middle of the field of the linebacker last year with Queen and Roquan. And then he inherits a group that he's got to work through the first six weeks of the season before you go get Ernest Jones and before night comes on. They have good cover guys outside, but it's kind of like the same thing I felt about Charles Cross where it's like, oh, Cross and Lucas, they're set of tackle. I see Cross getting run over every week now. And I'm seeing Rick Wallen in some bad spots that I just frankly didn't expect to see him in in coverage.

they have a lot of work doing the offseason, but they still have a chance to slide in. So when you're on a team, it doesn't matter if somebody sitting here and saying, well, even if you get in, you can't go all the way. They don't care. You just want to get in the dance.

And so winning a division is a big deal. They got a shot to do that. The Rams have remaining, the Jets, the Cardinals, and then the Seahawks, and the Hawks have Minnesota, Chicago, and L.A. Now, I see this going this way for them. I see them losing to Minnesota and I see them beat in Chicago. I really do.

I think Chicago they still have a chance to beat even in their current state, you know, quarterback notwithstanding. But then the Rams game, week 18, is going to be for the division. And it's not one that I feel great about their chances in, but a lot can change in three weeks. A lot has changed with the Seattle team from month to month. Honestly, that's the good team that they played closest. They got kind of blown out by all the other teams that they played with firepower and physicality. Lions,

Packers now. And there was one more. They got blown out by somebody else who's up there in the wind totals. They got beat by the Giants. They got blown out by the bills. The bills, right. And that was an ugly one. That was an ugly one.

That was just a hideous game for them. So those two teams control their own destiny. Go three and O and you win the division. Or you could pray for a commander's collapse. Right. Finishes with, commanders finished with Philly, Atlanta, and Dallas. And all those games are loseable.

You know, I'm not trying to like, you know, if you watch the commanders yesterday, you know what I'm talking about, you know, like it's just kind of disjoint it. It's a, it's a hell of a rookie quarterback. That game was somehow loseable for them yesterday too. That's what I'm saying. I mean, dude, all right. Then, you know, like, you get down there, you score, and they line up and they go sprint right option. It's just like, you know, I like that call, but maybe not with that quarterback, you know, and Washington was all over it. But Jayden Daniels was electric at times,

and he just doesn't have the help. Even McLaurin dropped the ball late that probably would have put the game away. They're down Noah Brown now. I think Ertz left with a concussion at some point. after a great catch after a great catch but but they're just not you talk about teams that if they get in i think they'd have a better chance to win a game ironically in the seahawks so i mistakenly put above them in the power rink as i feel differently today just because i've seen the seahawks floor

now but it's like the commanders if they get in chances are they're not going to reel off a couple wins it's just they don't have enough they're not one of those scary teams they don't have enough fire And they also, like, Dean Daniels got sacked eight times. That's not good. Yeah. Yeah, a couple on third down in the first half. But he put the team on his back at times.

Like that ball in the red zone was like a circus throwing catch. And then the fourth and one, and then the fourth and one where the read option is totally cooked. He's got to take the ball and do something with it. He goes backwards, pirouetting over the first downline and kind of lands on his head. Like, he's a special player. Yeah.

He is. I think. Yeah. Over the, I mean, the second half of the season, we've seen this offense become more up and down. Like, they were first in the league and EPA per play through the first eight weeks, and they've been 11th since that point. And to me, they're starting to feel like the chargers offensively in that, like, you need the quarterback to be Superman to score. They probably have a little bit of a better run game. But especially with Ertz down, Echler down, outside of McLaren, there's just not, he, Jaden just doesn't have.

have a ton to work with there and they need him to take over if they're going to score. And it's tough. It's a lot to put on a rookie quarterback. He's doing the best job he can. And it's a homecoming for him, a lot of pressure on them to win that game. I thought he was really cool and calm throughout the whole game, which is not a surprise to me and watching him play this year. But I just want to say this, Rizzi, what more can you ask from an interim head coach? I mean, they're down so many guys, including the quarterback. At some point in this game, they're down tomorrow late. They're down a lot of their best players, their best corners. on the other team

Rams could host it in that situation where either Philly or Minnesota gets the one seed. Currently it goes 5, 6, 7, Minnesota, Green Bay, Washington. The Falcons, although I think they win tonight, are, we don't need to see the Falcons in the playoffs. They're in big trouble, less than 20 percent, and the bucks are two games up now.

Yeah. I just need to stay one game ahead. Now, the Bucks, man, we've been, we've untold you about this, okay? But this is a very good team. This is a very good offense. I think the way I would describe it is like, you said it earlier, Nolan, I was having trouble putting in the words, but it's like urgency. It's like everything they do on offense, they do it with urgency. And Baker is such a quick processor.

And I think him and Liam have a great connection. Now, Liam wasn't coaching him from a play call standpoint. McVeigh was the guy in L.A., but Cohen was the offensive coordinator, right? Like de facto. and can you imagine a couple years ago like them sitting in a room maybe there's a joke offhand where they're like you know maybe we'll get back together again and i'll be the fucking OC calling the plays and you'll be the quarterback ha ha wouldn't that be cool and now here they are and honestly baker and i just want to say this baker mayfield does all this on his six or seventh coordinator

in the league like his career can't be longer in six or seven years right i mean what year is this for him. There's like seven. Seven, I believe. Seven. He's in 2018. He's had six or seven play callers. To make the adjustments that he's made, I don't think, I think he might be one of the most underappreciated quarterbacks of our era. No question. And, you know, I can tell some people are probably rolling their eyes at home. You, you're the one under appreciating him. He was saying, he was saying, I can't remember who was in the chat. This was earlier like three hours ago. hurts so much better than Baker, blah, blah, blah. I think that's actually a pretty decent comparison.

People laughed at me.

And I used to not think this. It's not like I'm some like Baker Homer dude that was back in Cleveland. Like he's going to be the guy. I didn't know he'd be the guy. And there were times where I was like, he can't see over the line. That's the problem. Well, maybe the problem was Freddie Kitchens,

you know, like things like that. And so I just wanted to tip my cap to the guy because he's on like coordinator six or seven. What was the clip when I think Freddie Kitchens walked over to Baker and was like, Kim and was like, er, and, like, jiggled his, his beard or something. And then he walked away,

and Baker was like, that fucking idiot. Dude, he had some of the weirdest bedside manner, so to speak, as a coach. But I think Baker's, I think Baker's,

I think Baker's, an answer there. I mean, like, we know that now. It's year, two, and the whole thing. And look what they found in free agency.

Liam Cohen, and I want to shout out the wide receivers coach, Brian McClendon, doing a really good job with these guys. like everybody the passing game so precise ton of pace we talked about that they access all types of different areas of the field he throws the ball over the middle really well yeah with a lot of zip and he throws the ball outside the numbers really well and when you got mike evans yep you know it's like who would have thought when mike when mike remember when mike was going to they were talking

about mike leaving yeah and mike was like no i want to stay here i got my ring i want to finish with the bucks or you know like and when baker came in you know some people were like oh this this the What a downgrade. Obviously, he's not Tom Brady, but him and Baker get along really well on the field. And Mike is a quarterback's best friend anyways, but you can tell they really love playing with each other. Dude, they're doing this shit without Godwin, too. Like, people sleep on. Chris is so good also.

And when Chris and Mike were hurt, their offense was still surprisingly potent, you know, like they've been doing such a good job of getting Bucky Irving going late in the season, using him and Rashad White on the field at the same time where there was like 20 personnel, you know what I mean like he's a little old pony action but like getting their playmakers the ball even though they've had their two biggest offensive playmakers um dealing with injuries like dude Liam Cohn is fucking cooking man and baker's playing with like so much confidence and I just I just think his attitude is fucking awesome. Mike Evans that's my game ball yeah nine catches for 159 and two tuddies yeah it's crazy

to think that the way his injury he happened at the beginning of the season, it looked like his hamstring, like, fell off the bone. No question. And, like, who knew that here we are at this point in the season? And he's just torching. He's still torching. Like, it's just like, everyone's different when they heal with your hamstring, when you're someone that has to run an open stride. And, like, your hamstring is, like, everything that's going on, like, with you physically. And you're able to come back and do that at his age. And at his point in his career, it's very, very impressive. And after missing those, he's 85 a game, man.

Yeah, after missing those three games, he needs 251 more yards to get a thousand for a year. I just didn't like, I don't like the player style comparison to Jalen. They're different players. Like here, I was just, I've been racking my brain to think who to compare bigger to. Oh, I got you a little. Well, because it's just not, it's just not an accurate. Brett Farr. you know, without some of the Drew Breeze Hall of Fame qualities. And every man. He's like in every man Drew Breeze, dude. So, you know, like, if you talk about, you know, comparing quarterbacks, I kind of like, I kind of like more of a guy who, who's going to be, I mean, he is a timing thrower. You know, he's going to, he's going to drop back there and kind of just, and just zip it and he he doesn't have a conscience he really doesn't like i can tell it gets you riled up sometimes chris well you in the chat you reminds me of romo as a player really yeah rome yeah i i just and not to short quarterback him but the guy that came to my was breeze a little bit with uh i mean i could be wrong barb i'm not saying he's breeze because somebody's gonna play game of telephone with 15 of their friends

like a bit. Chris Long was saying he's Drew Breeze. I didn't fucking say that. You're a liar. But anyways. With Liam Cohen, is he on your short list for head coaches next season? Like where would you rank him if there's three? We'll get interviews.

He's going to definitely get interviews. You've got Ben Johnson out there. You've got Mike Vrabble. You know what? Is he top three? Let's think about. Can we think about something? Yeah. Bill's still in the in the cycle, isn't he? doesn't he have like an opt-out clause for his scholarship in in june yeah yeah um here's the thing

about ben johnson everybody's talking about ben johnson like he's the hottest name we've been waiting a long time he's done a good job building the intrigue around his name too by turning down a job and all this stuff like and asking for a lot of money you almost are like yeah well yes sir worth it no problem yeah worth it fucking are only yeah yeah yeah um but like uh You know, there is a universe in my head that exists where Liam Cohen's like the Diamond of the Ruff here. And he ends up being, you know, a hell of a head coach. There's a lot more than just call and plays that goes into being a head coach. And so I think Cohen, by all accounts, and Bo, you know more guys in Tampa seems to be a guy that, you know, people would rally behind in a room.

Yeah, I don't know that he's necessarily, yeah, I mean, he's a great coach. He's been doing an unbelievable job for their offense. I don't know him as more of a as much of a leader of men. I don't mean raw, right? Like if you look at a guy like Dan Campbell, okay? He's not exes of him. He galvanizes the troops, like things like that. And Liam Cohen is not that kind of guy. You know, he's more of a, I don't know, I mean, Sean McVeigh is a pretty easy comparison. It makes us to have that history together. Maybe not the same kind of Wunderkin vibe that McVey gave off. And he was going to be a coach initially.

but he's very well-liked, well-respected in the locker room. I know that personally. Like, I was actually talking with Cambray about him today. Guys love him. They love him because his offensive scheme is great. So I think he is probably a dark horse hit candidate. He'll get interviews for sure. I still think he needs another year.

That's just me personally. I also think that the bucks are set up well for next year. So, like, I don't necessarily know that he's like hurting and hunting for a head coaching job. Right. He could be this year's Ben Johnson. He could say, hey, you know what? no thanks. Exactly.

And so that's kind of the NFC. Let's round out with the AFC wild cards. We've got a couple of these teams that, you know, relevant matchups. The first one being Houston and Miami, which kind of got lost in the shuffle, but it had a big game vibe about it. You know, obviously Miami's playing for their entire season. And C.J. Stroud is playing to keep, you know, to try to win the division, basically.

I mean, like, guarantee a home game, which is a big deal. I thought C.J. Stroud, who's taking a lot of shit this year, and I'll defend C.J. Stroud, like, here, you can tell where I am on this quarterback. I think he's damn good. And I thought late in downs yesterday, he got him out of a lot of trouble. There were some third down early in third quarter where he's in the grasp. And I don't know how he got this ball out. Yeah, to come from Arizona.

Oh, my God, dude. When that guy's on, he's just on. And, you know, like, I do think it's akin to Patrick Mahomes, not comparing the players, but Patrick Mahomes is eventually going to look down with the rush. He's eventually going to get frustrated when things are chaotic for a while. Even the best quarterback's not going to play as well. This guy hadn't had a clean pocket all year.

Now, they moved some guys around offensively up front, and I thought it paid off. I thought it definitely paid off. Yeah, but. They went Titus Howard at left guard. and then back at guard where he was playing last year good bit. Yep and then brought in the rookie blake fisher at right tackle you thought he played okay yeah i thought he did fine he um like he has that spatial athleticism the hand uses you need

to be a pro tackle i think they can develop him um chop robinson got him on a on a dip and rip late in the game but for the most part definitely an improvement overall for the protection for the texans and i think you saw that reflected in the confidence cj was playing with listen uh if you you just looked at the offense you say okay we did some things better but 20 points is not enough you know like if you're playing one of these teams that can really stress you ironically i'm saying that talking about the dolphins because most people think of them as a Ferrari but they're like a Ferrari that breaks down every time they play a good team seriously yeah if they're playing somebody else they're going to lose that game um you know they just they they couldn't get the run game going

which was a little bit of a surprise to me i think anything we were has done a great job in Miami. Great job. But they couldn't get the run game going. Joe Mixing got kind of caught up in another hip drop tackle, which ironically, there was one in the Philly game as well with A.J. Brown didn't get called either. They're just not calling these, whether they're intentional or not, because I don't think the one in Philly was intentional.

Boy, am I sure. A lot of people disagree with me. I don't think they're ever intentional. I think sometimes they're intentional. Sometimes you just don't have. any other option like when you're a linebacker pursuing uh you know a receiver in space and you're kind of behind them a little bit like i don't know how else you're gonna like your momentum kind of carries i'm with you on that i'm with you on i don't really know but there has been you tell me there's never

been an intentional hip drop tackle i mean no i'm telling you some of these dudes really know what they're doing i don't think you're like you're trying to hurt the guy you're not trying to hurt the guy you're not trying to at the guy. You're not trying to drop on. But you are trying to do the hip drop tackle sometimes, which I'm sure because I've seen guys drop people at the sticks. I've seen people drop people at the sticks like very intentionally. Oh yeah. You know, whether they're being dirty or not, that's up for debate. Like only only they know their intent, but like it can be employed as a strategy. Now, having said that, Joe Mixen's dealt with two of them this year. And so that's got to be very frustrating. But they couldn't get the run game going. But this game's won and lost when

Miami had the ball. Like, that's it. Miami, how many times do I have to say I'm tired of talking about this team? Toon, are you out there? Like, what's going on, bro? Like, seriously, Mike's 3 and 15 versus winning teams. Three and 15 versus winning teams. So it wasn't focused. He's worried. I'm not saying that. He's worried about home invasions. I'm not, yeah, he's got armed guards, though. But I'm not saying, listen, I think Tua's had some really good moments since he came out of that concussion. I'm super glad he's back healthy. But it is what it is with this group. It is what it is with this quarterback and this group.

Now, you know, if you're telling me it's not the quarterback, then you need to fire the head coach. Like if the fans are making a decision down there in Miami and there's a faction of the fans that are like, no, this guy's not the problem. No matter how many times they get out there and play a good team and lay an egg like that, it's not the quarterback. Well, then you absolutely should have fired that coach yesterday. And good luck putting your, quarterback in another offense.

Okay. I'm just telling you it's one of the more disappointing if I wasn't on the other side of this narrative that I got killed over calling out, I'd definitely be very disappointed just as a football fan

because they have so much potential. I think Mike's a really good play caller. The run game alone on this team and this is with tackles down and offensive linemen down, they've had at different points. They've had issues up front. But like the speed outside and then they lose Waddle at some point in the game yesterday.

Hopefully that's not too bad. But four turnovers forced by Houston, they're just too fast. When they play a defense that's got speed and you can't speed bully them. It's just the problem for this group in the passing game. And Tua looked off and honestly, you know, they're going to have to go back to the drawing board in Miami because this is it for them this year. They need to go back to it. If they come out of the offseason with the same setup, Mike and Tua, then it's the definition of insanity, in my opinion.

Go get Darnold. You're waiting for... Go get startled. Do something different. If Minnesota lets Darnel walk, absolutely. Exactly. But I don't know what they will. And so the question is, like, what do you do? Huh?

No. Aaron Rogers. Although it'd be an upgrade. I don't know if it would be an upgrade. I don't want to say that. But the guy they have now can't really move that well anyways. So it's not like you have to be incredibly mobile to play in this offense. Oh, I have a question for you.

Not Daniel Jones. I have a question for you. Yeah. How are you feeling about your hunter sack total bet? It's close, huh? What's he at? He's at 12.0 and half a sack behind the league league. Bro?

But like I said, they got to go back to the job. drawing board in Miami it's like it would be and that was one of the reasons why I was like oh you

paid the guy now you're locked in dude it they're kind of in a fucked up situation now they're going to be dolphins fans they're going to kill me and I get it you don't like hearing it but but even the most devout supporters of this regime and I mean the regime quarterback and coach have to admit this is not worked out well that you got nothing to show for it so you got a bunch stats you got a bunch of oh they're one of them you got the color analysts is always like oh well hey you know they're one of the most explosive teams in the league statistically you know yada yada yada i'm like well what are you watching right now because you're in town because it's not translating and a wins winning team part of that is because of two as injuries and things like that but i think part of it

is just it just feels like they should be better honestly they should be better and they're not i want to know how you feel about the texans uh in the playoffs because they have are not a team that I'm scared of. They're not a team that scares me in their current form, no. But, you know, there's only week one off a buy for them. And they made some adjustments. Maybe the adjustments continue to bear fruit in the form of, like, at this point, like just increased efficiency offensively.

You also have to remember, they come out of the buy, they reshuffle the offensive line. You would think they'd come out and say, hey, we're going to be able to depend on Joe Mixing, who's been great all year. He didn't get it going. So this is a game where they couldn't get the, the run game going. That's not going to be every week.

Miami does a good job defensively. I'm impressed with Anthony Weaver's group. Yep. Like, Sealer was a problem in this game. Sealer's great. I was just going to say, no. He is. He's a dog. Talk about an exciting. Come on.

That's it. He's a dog. He's productive all season, man. Like, I think he is one of those really good, sneaky good defensive linemen that does not get enough love. No question.
