Welcome to the Greenlight Podcast.
Oh, boy.
NFL week 13 recap. We've got Chris and Makin' in studio. We're going to run through these games. A lot of revenge factors coming into week 13.
We're going to go through that. We'll hit our mentions, of course. But the big storylines, the 49ers lose Jimmy G for the season. Cowboys go off in the fourth quarter to the tune of 33 points. The Bengals are three no against the Chiefs since January 2020. We've got some America's teams for you. Y'all stay tuned.
birthday to you.
Happy birthday to you.
Happy birthday, dear Kyle.
Happy birthday to you.
Fucking traitor.
He's up there doing CBS all day.
We're going to lose him to TV.
Do you know that?
Yeah.
As of next year, huh?
Yeah.
Not mid-year, right?
I don't know.
But like, we're going to lose him to the portal.
because the money's good in TV.
I don't know how good to, hey, I don't know if we can keep up.
He's so talented.
He's thick Tony Romo.
I watched him yesterday with my kids.
Yeah.
You know?
He's really good, huh?
He's really good.
Well, we got two fluorescent Miller Light signs behind us.
Yeah.
Can TV compete with that?
Nope.
Maybe Miller Light needs to compete with TV.
You hear us, Miller Light?
Make him an offer he can't refuse.
Kyle's 34 today.
Yeah.
Yeah.
downhill from here buddy
34 I don't think it is downhill for him
he's gonna be hosting the morning show or something like that
yeah he's gonna be working a lot harder than us
he'll be earning that fucking money
we want to wish him a happy birthday but he's not here
so I ask my kid how old she is most days
and she'll hold up one finger and I'll say oh one
I say that's a fun age and I you know nobody laughs
or anything but I it's I just say it every day
just keep rapping it mm-hmm mm-hmm about to be two so
won't have it for much longer, but you get the idea.
I do.
Hey, more like Brock Pretty Good.
Yeah, Brock pretty good.
See how he factors into the power rankings,
which we just can't shake these things, man.
You know, people, I said this the first week
we did Power Rankins, I was like, man,
I hate Power Rankins, but it's strangely addictive.
Yeah.
You know, even though it makes no fucking sense.
Like where do we rank some of these teams?
Like I had Kansas City above Cincinnati,
Okay, I want to, strangely, I want to see more.
Okay?
Let me see these rankings.
Yeah, Doug.
Yeah, Chris, they're in the middle.
Consensus on the left.
I'm on the right.
I had Philly, Buffalo, Kansas City, Dallas, Sincere, Minnesota, Miami.
Now, Miami's lucky to be here.
You know, a fringe top seven team remaining in top seven.
You're welcome.
Macon's got Sincy, Philly, Buffalo, Kansas City, Miami, Dallas, and Minnesota.
Since he was just so freaking physical.
They're really good.
They're really complete right now.
Yes.
So that's why, hey, listen, like, if you want to put them one, you had them first.
I'm not going to argue with that.
I mean, like, they are a top five team, and this year, the way it goes in the NFL, any of the top five teams can win the whole thing.
I mean, and we just lost one probably when it comes to like a Super Bowl contender.
I'm not saying the Niners can't go on a run with Brock Purdy, but I don't know.
That's why I couldn't put him in there, even ahead of Tua and the Dolphins.
Well, in that game, I mean, there's that fourth down that Chanahan challenges that Gassiki doesn't catch.
I mean, that was, they were going in to potentially take the lead in the fourth quarter.
So, and they're going against Brock Purdy and not Jimmy Garoppolo.
Yeah, and that's a big end.
But, yeah, Miami's just still.
I think San Francisco runs away with that game if Jimmy G's in the game,
especially the way too in the offense played, man.
they just couldn't keep pace.
So we'll get to that in a little bit,
but I mean,
interesting when you look at the Power Rankins,
the consensus is...
The consensus is Philly, Buffalo,
Kansas City, Dallas, Cincinnati,
Miami, and then San Francisco.
Enough folks had the Niners still in the cops of...
Minnesota didn't make the consensus.
No, Minnesota was not on the ballots of Corporate Scott
or Cowboy Reed.
That was a good game they won yesterday.
We'll get to them a little bit against the Jets.
I mean, everybody's kind of the stories of the Jets,
but the Vikings keep winning close ball games.
Nine and O winning close ball games,
and they've won some close ball games against playoff teams.
So I think a lot of times people are like,
well, you know, they're not blowing anybody out.
I mean, they actually got blown out in the two losses.
That would explain their point differential.
But, you know, when you beat good teams close,
like that's what you're going to have to do in the playoffs.
So I don't necessarily hold that against them.
We'll get to talking about them in a second.
Let's just do America's teams and get through this and get to these games.
There's so many damn good games.
You know, I've been complaining all year about not enough good games.
Yesterday it was too many good games.
It's hard to keep up with.
And a tough slate.
I looked on the chalkboard upstairs.
Do you have a pretty long teaser still in the works?
Yeah, a big teaser.
Could hit tonight.
Yeah, it's a six teamer.
It's a six teamer.
Good for you.
Paying out five to one.
And we've got the Saints catching 10 and a half tonight.
Winner.
Yeah, hopefully.
Me, thanks.
Yeah, I hope.
Awesome.
It just looked like a bunch of coin flips yesterday.
Yeah.
A lot of coin flips yesterday.
Okay, let's go America's teams.
You start us off, Mike.
Pittsburgh Steelers.
Is Mike Tomlin going to go nine and eight and keep this streak alive?
I mean, they're damn near competent.
They are competent.
Workman-like.
Kenny Pickett's fun.
They were three and six.
They've won three of four.
Pickett and start until week five.
Remember at the bills, they lost 38 to three.
Maybe he should have started sooner or maybe he needed the month to watch.
Maybe, but you get the month to watch.
You get the month boy, let them.
A young son, Gabriel.
So he wears gloves, throwing the football.
So, you know, he has a month to watch.
He has a month to play and, you know, kind of get that preseason thing.
Because he was kind of cheeks early.
And now he's really good.
Like when you watch, no, really good.
When you watch the indie game, he made some really nice throws.
And yesterday they moved the ball.
I mean, they missed some opportunity.
but Deontay Johnson.
George Pickens is one of the most electric fun guys in football.
Friarmooth, Naji is solid.
They have a nice little team to watch.
Ravens twice with her without Lamar.
We'll find out at Panthers,
Home Raiders.
That sounds like 3 and 1, which makes the 8 and 8.
And then you close with Deshawn and the Browns at home
to maybe keep the Tomlin streak alive.
And Tomlin's locked in.
You saw that video of him in the tunnel when he was asked something.
And he said, don't talk to me.
I'm working.
man.
Yeah.
Which I kind of like that.
You know, like, you know, everybody's supposed to be as nice as possible when you encounter
fans and that sort of thing.
But my man is working.
And, you know, like, I don't like the sneak recording thing.
I'm not a fan of the sneak recording thing.
When somebody has the phone on you, like when they take a picture of you or they record
a video of you, they're almost saying, like, smile.
Like, you have to smile.
And Mike Tomlin doesn't have to smile.
Mike Tomlin's got to keep his head down and beat the Falcons.
I feel like the Steelers can, or one of those franchises.
that people don't like from afar,
all the Sixburg stuff,
a lot of winning.
But this team's kind of likable.
No, I like this team.
They've turned the corner on that.
One of America's teams.
The Tulane Green Wave.
They beat UCF in the AAC title game 4528.
It was closer than that.
But they go to 11 and 2.
They're playing USC in the Cotton Bowl.
They're retaining their coach,
Willie Fritz,
outstanding season.
A fixture,
a staple of my America's teams this year,
Chris, as you know.
And given this success,
it will allow to,
Tulane to expand.
Expand its reach,
its recruiting footprint,
its facilities,
its brand.
Get there.
It will widen,
if you will,
the school's chances
to become a group of five
mainstay.
It will widen
its legitimacy
in the world of college football.
What,
I don't know if you can quantify it.
But Tulane,
congratulations on a wonderful season.
All right?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, they were this close to being annoyingly close to getting in the playoff.
Yeah.
Just this close.
Yeah.
Just beat the team you beat.
Who did they lose?
They lost to UCF and, uh, they, where else did they lose?
They're going to play, they're going to play in the cotton ball against USC.
Yeah, I heard that a few seconds ago.
Did you say that?
Yeah.
I was hunting down the second loss.
Who did they lose to?
Um, I, uh, I can tell you who they beat.
Yeah.
I think I was struggling through your two lane, Joe.
there's nobody here to Allie Uppett, too.
There's no joke about it.
They all Southern Miss.
Okay.
Southern Miss and UCF.
Southern Miss.
Okay, give me your third America's team.
Detroit Basketball Lions.
Okay.
Now the Lions, most points per game in the NFL
over the last three at 32 a game.
Over that same span,
the Ravens, for instance,
have scored 16,
the Pat's 15, the Broncos 11.
They're averaging 26.3 points per game
on the season,
fifth best in the NFL.
Second most points at home this season,
second only to Buffalo at 3.
34.
Denver, for instance, averaging 12 points per game at home.
That's a field goal, a quarter cowboy.
Holy shit.
I feel like cowboy.
13.8 for the season, per game.
They'd not be 10 and 2.
Was it 10 and 2 if they scored 18 points a game now?
This is going to be one of the most unforgettable stats of all time.
I think it's, we're going to be the first team if this holds up to score under 14 points
since the merger.
That's wild.
For a season.
So,
So Dan Campbell went from America's hero after hard knocks.
We got to fire this guy.
Yeah, there was a dead spin article that was just wildly irresponsible.
And now they're just, they're winning games.
Fucking shocker, yeah, deadspin.
Now they're just winning a bunch of games.
Detroit Lions.
Stick to dick picks.
They could still make the playoffs too.
Stick to dick picks and hacking in hacking college.
I forgot already.
Oh, yeah.
The Leilani
catfishing
The cat fishing incident
Llele
This guys
Yeah
Yeah
You got it
Stick to that stuff
England
The England
Football Club
The national team
Are all other national teams
Called national teams
Okay
The England
Men Soccer team
All right
It's
The
The path is there
The
England gets by
Senegal
Okay
3-0 in the round of 16.
They've got France on Saturday afternoon.
Netherlands, Argentina on one side,
likely Brazil and Croatia.
On the other side,
it's England, France,
with likely Spain and Portugal.
Now, I'm not really all about this tournament,
but it's shaping up to be pretty balls good.
Final four of Argentina, Brazil,
England, Spain, that'd be dope.
Yeah, it's a lot of blue bloods.
Could be coming home to honor her majesty of the queen.
The year she leaves us.
The year she leaves us,
perhaps it comes home.
Okay.
If the three lions win,
you guys owe me 250 bucks.
Oh, really?
And I got to paint my face and be courtside.
Oh, is that right?
Yeah.
That's your team?
So if England wins the World Cup,
we have making going to an ACC basketball game.
Nationally televised.
Nationally televised, of course,
because Virginia is pretty good right now.
What are we ranked?
Number three.
Number three.
And then he's going to have to paint his face like with the English flag on it.
Yep.
Yeah.
Which now would have been.
be the English. It's basically white face. It's white face with a...
Well, it's a good question. Do I paint myself the England flag or the Great Britain flag?
I guess the England flag, which would be white. I'd be looking like Switzerland up in there.
An inverted Switzerland. I would accept just white face.
You know, I think... Remember when Stevie painted his face white in Eastbound and Down? I don't
if you guys remember that and he was a geisha.
I don't, but it's not hilarious.
I remember the show.
That's kind of what you're going to look like.
Court side.
I mean, that might be funnier than this,
which I'd be willing to do,
just straight up go as the queen.
Dead?
I'll go all in.
Well, in a live version of the queen,
alive and taller.
And finally, K-State.
We need to give, give, give, give, give,
K-State's flowers because it's going to be all about TCU
moving forward, but they get the win
in the Big 12 championship game.
Big 12 has 10 teams, which is a conversation for another day.
The projected order of finish was Baylor, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas,
followed by K-State, the champs, number five.
TCU, two wins from a national title.
They were predicted to finish seventh in the Big 12.
No, I know.
That's wild.
Of 10 teams.
And then wild that K-State did that without their starting quarterback.
That's right.
K-State 10 and 3.
They'll play Alabama in the Sugar Bowl.
K-State narrow losses to Tulane, TCU, and Texas.
Texas this year. And then I went back trying to find, hey, when's last time T.C. or K State did this.
They do it all the freaking time because of Bill Snyder. Bill Snyder won 11 games four
straight years from 98 to 2001. 11 games, all them years. Did Caleb Williams cry? Was that, like,
was that a big deal? Did I miss that? Because it seemed like that was a big deal in retrospect this
weekend when Max Duggan cried and people, you know, louded him for crying. And then all of a sudden
there were these people coming out of the word,
well, when Caleb Williams cries, it's a big deal.
Like, what the fuck is going on?
Did I miss something?
I missed both entirely.
Or sports media just that dumb now?
I saw what you're talking about. Sports media is just that dumb.
Okay. Let the kids cry.
Yeah. All of them. They can all cry.
Then Bill Snyder won 11 games again in 2003.
Then he won 10 and 11 in 2011 and 2012 during his second stand.
Yeah, like 93 years old.
This program needs to be studied.
I know it's amazing.
And if you've been to Manhattan, Kansas, which I have,
yeah, I barely remember it, went home early, just got tanked.
I was out at the bar like an hour.
I don't even remember the bars.
There's not much to remember.
How do they do it?
You have to fly on it.
To get to Manhattan, Kansas, you have to fly on a plane where you can see the pilots.
That's not good.
Like the pilots can turn around and be like, hey, we've got five more minutes.
It's like a 12-minute flight.
But good news, once we land, you're going to win.
in 45 games over four seasons.
Yep.
Crazy.
No question.
Now what's strange is that the athletic department has never won a national championship.
They're only one of two power five schools who have never won a national championship.
Give me the other.
Virginia Tech.
Okay.
Those are my America's teams.
Okay.
America's teams.
The Bengals defense.
Nice.
Bengals defense is fucking pretty good.
Yeah, dog.
But we'll talk about it a little bit, but here's the part that matters.
They play Deshawn Watson next week.
So let's put the Bengals defense on here.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, you know what I'm saying?
I do.
Okay.
On clear, Jermaine Pratt.
Give me that.
Okay, yeah, Germain.
More like Jermaine, give me that.
Yep, you got it.
You got it.
It's the end of the joke.
Yeah.
More like Travis, you can have it.
Right.
Here it is.
Travis, Kelsey, see this ball.
Okay.
Not good.
Philly, not good by me, not good by you.
Philly is going to be on my America's teams.
They're just so fucking good.
They're sloppy.
They're like America.
They're like, oh, we're so good.
We can get a million penalties.
Not a big deal.
We're still so good.
Have you seen our military?
Have you seen A.J. Brown?
Have you seen our large gun ships?
Yeah.
Have you seen our D-lined?
Yeah.
Like a bunch of submarines out there.
They're just so powerful.
It doesn't matter if they fuck it up.
And we're going to trap all of the bricking world into taking Tennessee plus four and a half.
And then just.
What was it?
Who took the?
Tennessee four and a half, I guess everybody, no, that was not me.
Not me.
That was not the play.
Did you just compare the Eagles to the military industrial complex?
Pretty much.
Pretty much.
And AJ Brown's like some type of special weapon.
Yeah, AJ Brown is some really expensive weapon that everybody's like, well, we shouldn't
spend so much on this weapon, but look what it does on the field.
Like look what it does in the field.
Other countries would love to have that weapon.
I know a country, the country of Tennessee would love to have that weapon, but they don't
spend anything on their military. And Kelsey's like an old older generation weapon that still works.
Yes, he's like a, you know, an AC 130 from like 1974. Like, uh, he's like a flyover of a college
football game, like total waste of spending. I've been now that doesn't quite work. That does not true.
What I'm saying is we show off. Yeah. Things that we have. That was Carson Wentz's contract.
Towards the end there was a big, was a big flyover. Thanks.
Oh, South Bomber, like everybody at least looks up as like, oh. That's a lot.
They had a stealth bomber yesterday.
It wasn't loud.
In Philly.
Right?
Yeah.
Yeah.
The stealth ones are quieter.
Yeah.
Until they get right on top of you.
Uh-huh.
So anyways, Philly.
Didn't hear that coming.
So Philly's an America's team.
Okay.
The U.S. men's national team.
Nice.
Nothing more American than thinking you're more important than you are.
Here we are.
Everybody puts on their outfits that they only put on once every four years and gets ready to assault.
anybody on the timeline that's tweeting about anything but the U.S. men's national team,
we go quietly into the night and we feign indignation, right?
And then we move on to the next thing, you know?
And what we put into soccer is what we get at the men's level.
That's right.
You know, and so this is America, guys.
We think we're important.
The rest of the world moved on the second we lost that game.
So as much as I get into the whole American soccer thing once every four years,
a little dose of realism, please.
Interesting piece of news.
Just a second interrupting the America's teams.
The Panthers are expected to release QB Baker Mayfield.
He'll hit waivers when it's finalized later today.
New San Francisco 49 or Baker Mayfield.
Very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very interesting.
put the Niners back in my power rig and kick the dolphins out.
I don't think Bayfield's very good.
But if anybody can fix Baker Bayfield, it's Mike Shanahan.
Here's a question.
I've never known the answer to.
Kyle Shanahan.
Now, if Mike Shanahan could help too, that'd be great.
How's the waiver order work in the NFL?
Is it based on record?
Yeah, so Texans, Saints would have first shot at them.
But the bad teams don't really want to win.
No.
You got to find the,
but if the worst team that won.
wants to win.
LA could just cock block them.
Yeah, it would only be a sabotage move.
Nobody's gonna want them.
Right, and that wanting to win
and landing Baker Mayfield don't usually go hand in hand
unless you have every single other piece
like the Niners do.
So I got another weird thing that they're probably asking each other.
Okay, who do you think is the weirdest name that's popped up
in like Kyle Shanahan learned about it second quarter, right?
Second quarter of the game.
So he's like immediately, call in plays,
but thinking about the future.
When that, on that team bus,
or not on Team Bus.
When they go back in the locker room,
what do you think is the weirdest name
that popped up between John Lynch
and Kyle Shanahan?
Because I have, I want Andrew Luck
to come out of retirement so bad.
Wow.
And right off into the sunset.
It's just been too long.
They're not going to do it
because the Indy would never give up the rights for him.
They're mired in shit
because of Andrew Luck.
And I don't blame him, but...
Well, this is Fantasyland stuff.
Give me another name.
Philip Rivers?
Yeah, no, no thanks, right?
I think Brock Purdy probably greater than...
Brock Purdy, for sure.
Rock Purdy has moxie to him.
Yeah, save it, save it, save it.
But Baker Mayfield could be a nineer.
Back up Brock Purdy.
Wasn't Baker...
Was Baker Mayfield almost in Seattle, or was he in Seattle?
Baker Mayfield was not in Seattle.
He was almost in Seattle, I feel like.
People were...
Speculated.
Yeah, people speculated hard that he was...
That he was going to be up in Seattle,
and that didn't seem like a great cultural fit for him.
You know, Baker Mayfield rubbing elbows with tech gurus.
What are those commercials?
This is the same thing.
The Silicon Valley folks in Baker Mayfield, this just doesn't fit.
Are those progressive commercials?
What's a more progressive town than San Francisco?
San Francisco, California.
You know?
Progressive's going to, he's going to be Super Bowl MVP.
You're right about that.
Just run back the commercials.
Okay, so U.S. men's national team, they're literally,
just not that good.
But they're young.
But they're young.
They've been young forever.
Freddy Adieu.
The other day I was like,
how's Freddie Adieu doing?
He's like,
oh, he's 40.
Okay, well.
It's fun of the root for the underdog,
though.
Most of the time when our national team is playing,
they're like a favorite.
Do you remember the other week
when we got by whales?
Yeah.
It'd be fun to root for the underdog
if we had some guys who could score.
Yeah, it's a problem.
You know what I'm saying?
Hey, that, that, what's it, a three, four, one, two?
from the Netherlands?
That was cool.
I would change our formation.
They have a striker named Memphis.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Just Memphis.
Just Memphis.
It used to be Memphis redacted, but not anymore.
He doesn't, he doesn't.
No, and I get that.
Yeah, good for him.
And he talks shit after the game.
Yeah.
Good for him.
Yeah, you know what?
We need to hear that.
We need to.
We have a bunch of,
four more years.
We're going to be top of the top of the.
It's not all soccer fans that irritate me,
but they're just so snarky.
Top of the table.
They're like a different kind of hot.
I'm impressed by these soccer fans.
Some of them really do care.
They do care.
In between every four years.
The ones that do care between every four years,
like God bless you, you really do put in the time.
But the people that just show up every four years, like myself,
the difference between me and these people is like,
I get why we lose.
Like we're not good.
I get it.
And it's not important in this country.
It's just not important.
We do get to host the next one though.
That's going to be fun.
Billy's got games.
That's going to be fun.
Maybe we can find.
find a striker under a couch cushion.
Can we not, did I make up
expanding the field? No, it's, we're going to
expand to 48. So 48
team, I know it's too many.
Like in the group, like in the group stage?
In the World Cups? Mm-hmm. That's 48
total. I'm going to act like I
care. It works the way to, hey,
Japan's leading Croatia 1-0 at the break.
Really? Yep. Oh. Okay.
Oh, yeah. So yeah,
it turns out we're not that relevant.
Colorado.
The Colorado Buffalo is the higher Deon
Sanders, and this is going to be like pro wrestling.
So I don't know how this is going to go, but it's going to be fun to watch.
So just...
I know how it in.
I saw the first team meeting, and this is going to be something to monitor.
Nor do I know how it's going to go.
I have no idea.
I just know it does not end with Dion Sanders, 23-year head coach at Colorado Dion Sanders.
No, no, no, no, I don't think so.
And then lastly, Georgia.
I want to make Georgia in America's team.
You know what's good about Georgia?
everything.
Stetson.
Well, you know what's,
you know what,
he's 25 years old.
Did you know that?
Yeah, man.
I didn't know he was 25,
but I could date him
and it would be legit.
It'd be,
there's only 11 years.
Yeah.
So Stets and Ben is 25,
which is funny as hell.
And then,
you know,
and then on top of that,
the nice thing about Georgia
is they're so good
if you've got something to do,
you don't have to watch the game.
Like I did not watch that game
this Saturday.
There was something I had to do.
There was something I had to do.
to do and I was like you know what I'm gonna skip that game is this gonna be a blowout
and that's how it is with Georgia Georgia erases the fomo of not watching a football game on
Sunday so I get a three hour break they're also they're like a fucking trash compactor
something it just destroys things like it's really funny it's real fun to watch from a
distance but just don't get too close I would imagine it's not fun if your team's playing
Georgia. It's fun to say like look how bad they are beating that other top 25 football team.
But I would hate for Virginia to put Georgia on the schedule.
We had them. Yeah, I know. You got three years, three years ago. It was it two, three years ago?
Yeah. I would hate to see that played out. Yeah, that was going to be then the new,
the new Georgia Dome Labor Day, that Monday night game, like COVID. Yeah, it's fun to watch from a
distance. It's probably not fun. We probably would have got them.
Yeah, you're right.
We probably would have got them.
Okay, so America's teams,
damn, I didn't put the Eagles in there,
but the Eagles are the best team in all.
I did.
I put the Eagles in there.
Oh, yeah, I got Philly in here.
Okay.
How dare you guys?
What?
Leave out the Cowboys on Kyle's birthday.
Yeah, right, exactly.
Well, I've gone to Army Navy game this year, this weekend.
You're going?
Yeah.
Damn, that's awesome.
Yeah, so maybe I should have put Army and Navy in the America's team.
You know what?
Just to be safe, I'm going to kick the U.S.
Men's National team out,
because they really don't deserve it.
And I'm going to put the troops in.
And then I'm going to also kick out, yeah, Georgia.
I'm going to kick Georgia out of America's teams.
And we'll put Navy.
Sorry, Ladd-McConkie.
Am I okay to put, yeah, am I okay to put a couple chickens on the under in person there
with all the troops?
Oh, yeah.
I think so.
Shout out to Jason Van Camp Warrior Rising.
My guy, Green Beret, invited me there, climb Killy with him.
I'm going to be up there in the suite.
with Bo Allen.
Oh, that's good because it could be cold.
Yeah, who asked me a bunch of questions about the game.
Let me break it down for you, Bo.
Two brits to the military, they field football teams,
they play in a low-scoring game in Philly.
It's a beautiful site.
There's a lot of camaraderie.
There's a lot of, there's animus, there's animus,
there's animus, and then there's camaraderie.
I think when a fan goes to a game who doesn't have a team in the game,
they tend to bet the over if they want to put a bet in
because they want to root for points.
I think you're right to go under.
I'm going under and I'm rooting for Army because I got an Army guy taking me.
Okay.
You know, and they always have dope uniforms.
I root for Navy because of George Welsh.
Got it.
Go Navy beat Army.
Yeah.
The best moments in a sports fan's life are in football season.
I'm not talking about September.
I'm not talking about the first week in October.
I'm not even talking about the second week in October.
I'm talking about when it gets colder, the temperature drops, the games get bigger,
the hits get harder.
And you can curl up and watch some meat.
meaningful football. I like to do it with a Miller Light from the fridge and a cold frosty mug from
the freezer. Frosty mug meat, a cold, beautiful can of Miller Light from my fridge. That's teamwork.
We come together. We can make a great play out there. And the best play to make on a Sunday is
a nice, cold Miller Light and a frosty mug at home. That's my favorite thing. Maybe a fire in the
fireplace. Yeah, now we're talking. But Miller Light, it's an original and it's more than that.
it's been a fan favorite since 1975.
The best part, no matter how your team plays,
Miller Light is always a winner.
The perfect beer for Sundays, I gave you the hot tip.
Having that frosty mug is a lot like having home field advantage.
I mean, like, it just makes everything better for your boy
and your boy's friends who file in every Sunday to enjoy cold,
ice cold Miller Light at my house.
I mean, we have a lot of people over,
and I got to have the Miller Light stocked up.
A lot of light beer cuts back on the most crucial ingredient flavor,

Miller Light, quick on its feet, heavy hitting on flavor.
No wonder it's been MVP from day one.

The Eagles, man.
The reason I put them in the power rank
at number one,
I felt like yesterday might have been their most impressive win.
Now, don't call me crazy
because they were sloppy as hell,
but that's why it was impressive.
Like, I'm not saying that, you know,
the game plan is to go out there
and fucking commit a bunch of penalties
and overcome them.
but this is a team that can beat you in a lot of different ways.
Last week they run for 300 yards.
They don't really need the run game, right?
We don't want to go out Jeffrey Simmons
into the teeth of that defense, their make.
And they beat them anyways.
They beat those guys up bad.
And, you know, week one, it's RPO's, you know,
at one point in the season they're running zone reads.
You know, they beat you a bunch of different ways.
but it's impressive to me
because, you know, in the first half alone,
they had eight penalties on offense,
10 of them as a team, the one defensive penalty.
Well, there were two.
There was the Eps hit in the end zone,
which I didn't think was dirty.
You know, you could say what you want about targeting,
that sort of thing.
He's got to take the football off the guy.
And then one defensive penalty was Josh Sweat,
which extended a drive and they scored.
So all these penalties, you know, like, you know,
the defensive penalty, that was points.
But on offense,
You have a touchdown drive, the first one, they overcome two penalties.
The second touchdown drive, they overcome four penalties.
The fourth drive, you know, when they're up 14-7 in plus territory, they have two penalties,
and they're forced to punt after Bud Dupree sacks.
So like, on one hand, you're kind of like, you're playing with your food a little bit,
you're playing with fire, like put this team away.
They're too good not to put away early.
And on the other hand, you're kind of impressed that they're, they're,
shooting themselves in the foot and they're still walking over the goal line.
Like second half they had a touchdown drive that they overcame two penalties.
These are drive killers, man.
And this team's good enough to overcome them.
And Siriani was accountable about some of the penalties.
I think at halftime.
He's like, listen, that's on me.
There's a lot of communication stuff.
I mean, he was fairly specific there.
And so I thought this was the Eagles most impressive win in a lot of ways.
If you look back at this season, you could say, hey, Minnesota early in the season,
but that's early in the year, right?
Everything went well for them that night,
but everything went wrong for them,
and they still ran these fucking guys out of the gym.
And Tennessee's a good football team.
Tennessee only gets blown out by the bills, man.
So this was impressive.
Eagles just the third team in the last 90-0 seasons
to rush for 350 plus in back-to-back games.
Rush for 350-plus, then throw for 350-plus.
So we can do it any way we need to do it.
Yep.
No turnovers from them.
I think that Washington loss was a good thing.
Oh, yeah, it was.
Sometimes you hear anything, I'd rather go 20 and 0.
Nah, 12 and 0 would be a big burden right now.
11 and 1, they're just cruising under the radar.
As we said, everybody's on Tennessee plus four and a half.
And then just go and take them apart.
And the Washington loss, that was after the Joseph and Sue signings, yeah?
Before.
So I think part of it is that that loss got them better.
Yep.
You know, like, hey, sometimes you lose games where there's a Houston game, which was a win,
but it felt like a loss if you bet the Eagles.
And then you've got that game where Brian Robbins is breaking off chunks.
And then you go out and you rectify the problem.
And then you get Jordan Davis back.
And Jordan Davis coming back in this game was a big, big deal.
You know, a big part of Gannon's defense is the nose, right?
being able to have a dominant or at least competitive nose.
You know, that's why they brought in Joseph for depth there.
Like, let's just stop the bleeding.
Let's just bring in Sue, like, because we're going to be in these odd fronts.
And they ran odd a lot yesterday, and they did a good job on Derek Henry,
who people have been bottling up lately.
Last week, he didn't have much.
And this is usually where Derek Henry turns the afterburners on late in the season,
and everybody else gets weaker in December, and he speeds up.
up and it just doesn't feel that way.
And I think what's interesting and anything could happen next week, he could break off
220 and be back on the heater.
But, you know, every year we've said this with Derek Henry.
And how old is he, like 28, 29 years old?
He's 29.
You're waiting for the December that it just doesn't, you know, the car won't start.
You know, you go out and you've got a classic car and all of a sudden the thing needs
some work.
It's not turning over or whatever it is in the morning when it gets cold.
and this might be that December where we're like, okay,
we're starting to see some signs of aging.
Like this guy's had so many, so many.
I mean, like, they have given him the ball thousands of times
over the past half decade.
49 in a month.
Jags at home for the Titans next week.
So, you know, like impressive for the D-line.
You know, they hold him.
He's 11 for 30.
The Bengals held him down last week.
You know, the Eagles D-line had six sacks, nine hits.
So I don't think Tannahill got hit like that all year.
In fact, I know he didn't get hit like that all year.
Sweathead, two sacks.
He showed up big Hargraves on the board.
Fletch had a really nice sack stringing Tannahill out.
Reddick was all over the place.
He continues to be all over the place.
I think Tannahill was sacked 19 times all year.
He's sacked six times yesterday.
So this Eagles D-line.
They've got a scary playmaker in A.J. Brown,
which they had no business acquiring.
Like, no business.
The Eagles getting AJ Brown,
like the rest of the league has to be pissed at them.
because that player, if he's not on this team,
they're not nearly as scary.
They're fucking terrifying,
and they don't have Dallas Goddard right now.
And they're still picking in the top five.
And they're still picking in the top five.
So if you look at AJ Brown,
he had more receptions and yards and touchdowns
than the Titans receivers did yesterday.
That's eight for 119 and two touchdowns,
four for 41 and a touchdown for the Titans receivers.
And Burks was out with a concussion.
We mentioned that EPS play.
This was a revenge game from him.
For sure.
Pure and simple.
And Burks might end up being great,
but Tennessee had all the parts still there.
With an AJ Brown,
they're 7 and 5 right now.
With an AJ Brown,
you've got to think that they're...
Nine and three.
Yeah.
I like 9 and 3.
And the crazy thing is, you know,
like they're New England guys.
The guys that came down to Tennessee
to make these decisions,
were able to GM,
like they think like New England guys.
Get rid of a guy a year.
Yeah, and a year late.
Which, hey, listen, I have the utmost reverence for the way they do things in New England and Bill and the whole thing.
But like, how many times do guys from New England have to find out that you go away from New England and you try to do the New England thing and it doesn't work?
That thing only works if you have Tom Brady.
Okay?
Like, this isn't that fucking hard.
And when you have a guy like AJ Brown.
25 years old.
Who's 25 years old who yesterday, him and Jalen hurts outside the numbers in deep is gorge.
every time Jalen Hertz puts that ball right on the money and with the way Mahomes played yesterday
now Burrow has entered the race probably for MVP I mean like you can make that argument I mean like
he's um Tua played bad yesterday I don't know why he'd be in the race for MVP not to be disrespectful
I mean there's a guy on his team was more valuable than him um but you know you've you've got
you've got you've got Burrough you've got Mahomes you have Jalen Hertz who yesterday seems like he
climbed into the driver's seat.
This MVP conversation with the way the media is now today,
feels like a Heisman conversation,
whereas before I was like, at the end of the season,
we're just going to tally it up.
Kurtz also revealed A.J. Brown's value in a way that Tanna Hill never could.
Yep, bingo.
I mean, the air under these balls outside the numbers are crazy.
I mean, it's the deep balls.
He put that last deep ball on him,
and A.J. Brown didn't have to move his hands.
And he was, it was the tightest coverage.
I don't know what the catch probability it was on that touchdown, but it was disgusting.
And then earlier in the game, when he's out of bounds on that picture perfect throw,
it's like a moon ball that hits A.J. Brown right in the hands.
He does a great job of tracking it over his right shoulder.
He gets like half a foot out.
They go back to him the very next play for a touchdown.
He's wide open and you think, oh, busted coverage.
Nah, he just routed Christian Fulton out of his fucking shoes.
Those corners are too small for the length that Devante Smith has,
for the length and size that AJ Brown has.
So, you know, like a PI set up another touchdown.
He is a fucking machine, dude,
and the Eagles didn't have to be great,
and they still ran this team out of the building.
And Devante goes five for 102.
Eagles at the Giants next.
We'll get to the Giants, but...
What did you think?
Giants?
Yeah, did you feel...
How did the Ty feel as a G-Men fan?
I care again.
I Ryan Care again because I wanted to throw up.
I thought it was awful.
I thought they played not to lose.
And with that schedule coming up with the Eagles twice,
I think that's curtains for the Giants' playoff hopes.
I think it's probably 8-8-1,
and they get beat out at best on a tiebreaker,
likely losing that game in Washington in two weeks.
No, that stunk a lot for several reasons.
at several junctures.
The fourth and the third and three it probably was comes to mind.
They're in shotgun.
Sequin and Richard James run into each other.
That's terrible.
It's awful.
You win that game.
You win that game.
There were so many punts that I'm sure didn't abide by the go-for-it-rules.
There was a timeout at the end of overtime with the clock stopped that Brian Dable took.
They would have gotten the ball back with a minute, minute 10.
and said it was 30 seconds.
Feliciano penalty,
which, by the way,
I kind of believe him,
he said he was,
if anybody didn't see this,
they get to the 35-yard line.
They're going to go in and win this game.
They're at the 35-yard line
because at that point a kick wins it.
At least goes up 10.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, they go up 10 at that point.
You go up two scores.
Sorry, that's not an overtime.
Feliciano,
after a slate and catch,
gets them to 35.
They've got an opportunity
to go up two scores,
which feels like curtains, right?
And it's late in the game.
and Feliciano runs over through a crowd of commies,
and he's flexing.
And at first glance, it looks like he's taunting.
And I get it.
Don't put yourself in that position.
But the refs have to look at the eye contact being made,
and he's looking right at Darius Slate.
And I know this because he walks through the crowd of Kami's defenders.
They're walking past him,
so they're just not even paying attention to him,
and he's tracking Darius Slaten,
who's walking around the back of the little grouping of players.
But it's pretty simple
I mean like but at first glance
you're also kind of like hey don't chance it
but it's also stupid that the game's gotten to this right
it's stupid that the game's gotten to this
that penalty killed them the Richie James
you know running in the backfield killed them
that was from the Washington 45 with a minute 50 left
third and two was it four oh yeah
there was Washington 45 third third and two
gonna be a play action uh huh or it looked like going
to put it in Sequan's belly and pull it back out, but they run into each other.
And they punt on fourth and two, which you mentioned.
Yeah.
You know, but, but you know, uh, Ganoe who missed that final 50 goal.
Yep.
Kicking game these days, man.
You're kind of like, damn, you can't hit a 58 yarder.
So Ganoe brought up the fact I think he was on the Panthers.
And I don't know what year was 2014 or something.
actually I don't know that it was 2014
but basically he was on, yeah, 2014
when he was with the Panthers and they tied the Bengals
and that tie was the difference in getting them
in the playoffs by a half game.
So yeah, you would have loved the win
but you know, it's not the end of the world you tied
and Tibado played better too by the way.
Now he was unblocked on the sack.
He could get the ball there and that game's over.
But he was more active.
He was more active. That's what you want to see
from him, just active.
Like, you know, never out of rushes because it's easy with the guy like that to just be washed by a lot.
You know, he is athletic. He's not so much of a power guy.
If he can work on all the tools in his toolbox and just stay active, he can be a disruptive player in this league.
So, you know, some positives for the Giants, certainly.
But when you tie a ball game, it just feels like shit.
You were down 10-0 in a heartbeat.
You get the 20 to 13 lead.
You follow that with three straight punts, a three-and-out, a three-and-out, and a four-and-out.
the last six drives of the game
ended in punts for the Giants
before the Miss Field goal
I just
Yeah
This is
This is bad radio
But let's do it
Giants home for Eagles
Yep
Win loss
Well he has a
Kingston has his loss
I think that'll be a tough game
Giants at Washington
I have that as a loss
That's like a schedule loss too
Because Washington has a week off
Before that
They sure do
Giants at Minnesota
I think they win that game
Okay Giants home
Indianapolis
I think they win that game
Giants at Philadelphia
I think they lose that game
Okay
So you're either three and two or two and three here
Is that Philly game the last game this season?
Yeah
Philly could be resting everybody
And Philly could be resting everybody
That's true
So you could be
I mean like hey listen
Good points
There's there's not out of it
Let me talk you back into the
You're right
Eight and three just would have been dynamite
And hey that stadium looked beautiful
yesterday. Thank you. There was a shot, the shot of Sequin Barclay running the end zone tied at 10
and he leaps over the goal line and they go, they go end zone cam, you know, that low level
end zone shot that like scans across the end zone and the end zone's red. You've got the old
logo. You have all the fans in the stands like it looked electric and you probably couldn't
see the artificial turf from that angle. You really couldn't. It took the artificial turf away.
It was beautiful. So there's some things to be excited about and you're doing all this with the
quarterback. By the way, Slayton
dropped the big ball in this game. Huge.
Doing all this with
the quarterback, right now doesn't have a lot
of guys to throw to. It feels like
their biggest chunks early in that game were
Daniel Jones tucking and running it.
I think he ran for five first downs
in the first half. Yeah. It's wild.
So that's fun, but it's not
and the reason why Heineke's the guy,
that fourth down,
rolling left, late in that game,
in overtime, or not in overtime,
at the end of regulation,
the fucking first touchdown to McLoran
where he evades pressure
and just keeps the play alive.
He just keeps the play alive, man.
And he's tough.
And that's why he's their guy.
So neither of these teams are out of it.
The NFC East is deep.
It looks like it'll be New York, Washington,
or Seattle, two spots for those three.
And Seattle's fading right now, quietly fading.
rowback active wear best way to describe rowback is best fit best feel when it comes to quality

So Dallas, I mean like, holy shit,
what was it, 30-something, 33 points in the fourth quarter?
It was 2119 in the fourth.
Indy came out there and kind of made it a game.
They were in that thing until the fumble.
Mo Ali Cox fumbled the ball.
They just couldn't stop turning the ball over.
It was a nightmare.
That was a nightmareish fourth quarter for them.
And it was all after that interception was ruled incomplete.
That would be one hack of a,
turning point. If that interception was actually ruled on the field as a pick, Colts get the ball
they're down too. Yeah. Yeah. What'd you think about that? I thought it was very, I mean,
it looked like a pick. At first view, you're like, oh, that hit the ball, but I thought it was
inconclusive that you could tell that that edge of the ball did hit the ground because it was kind of
blocked by his arm. And you could make the argument that his arm had been under it and kept it off the
turf throughout the catch. It was nice though that Dallas and you know like hey this is where
the clock strikes midnight on Jeff Saturday right. I mean I'm not saying this vindictively or anything
but we said it there was a whole group of people that for 10 days was like after their first game
or whatever it was they beat the Raiders and people were like oh see you know Jim Mersey's
doing a fucking victory lap and the whole thing and just people need to remember that you know
not to overreact to shit in this league.
You know, like, how many lessons do we have to learn
before we realize not to overreact to things?
Okay, because this team imploded, okay?
They ended up taking a knee.
You know, they're in victory formation to end the game.
Okay, like, they had the bones of a good football team here,
but they can't figure it out consistently,
and Matt Ryan's not the guy, man.
Like, he made some nice throws last night,
but Matt Ryan's not the guy.
He also threw a lot of picks, too.
and a lot of near picks.
A lot of near picks.
He's not the guy, dude.
This is not playing veteran quarterback roulette
over a span of years is not,
is not a sustainable strategy.
I think they've realized that.
And hopefully they realize that
like they need a real head football coach in there too.
They could have remained within
your shot of the division before last night.
So now do you go back to Sam Ellinger?
I don't know, man, because every time Matt Ryan takes a snap, you're like this close to a $17 million mistake or whatever it is.
And they said that Matt Ryan started because he went to Saturday and was like, I want to keep playing.
Like, let me keep playing.
And Saturday's like, I can relate to that when I was on the Packers.
They bench me at the end.
I don't want that to happen to you.
You're a Hall of Fame quarterback.
I don't play you out the rest of the ones.
That's why everybody ran to the window right before the Vegas kickoff.
It's going to be the Colts.
I'm just saying, dude, it's not.
it's not that easy. We thought it was, oh yeah, you know, hey, beat the Raiders. I just, people got to
see things through. This is going to be an open discussion in the off season, or it should be
like who's going to be the next head coach of the Colts. I'm not blaming the game on Jeff Saturday,
but we gave him all this credit after the first win. You know, we gave him all that credit
after he played the Eagles close, right? Well, the Steelers game last week, you know, we,
had, even though I disagreed with some of the criticisms, like it was not perfect from a
coaching standpoint. And then this week you get fucking blown out in the fourth quarter and you end
up taking a knee in your victory formation. So the Colts were the only team remaining not to
give up 30 or more points. And they were, they were tracking that through three quarters.
That's over. But I feel bad for their defense last night a little bit. But what do we do with
Dallas? Is it a blowout win and they're now trustworthy?
or is it it was 2119 with the Colts in the fourth quarter?
They're the same team, in my opinion,
that they've been all season,
which is a very good, dangerous team
that has to prove to me that they're trustworthy.
I mean, like,
DAC has to prove to me that he's trustworthy
through a playoff run.
The defense has to remain disruptive,
forcing turnovers.
You know, they have to stay hot going in the playoffs.
And that's the whole thing.
Like, the defense scares me,
and the offense, like with Pollard,
there's a shot in the arm,
but C.D. Lamber's,
played great. You could add Odell Beckham Jr. I understand that on one hand it sounds like I'm
talking myself into a Super Bowl contending team which they are but on the other hand I just don't
trust the Cowboys yet. I think that's fair last night was the first time in Zee's career where he was
healthy and did not start the game. Yeah. Per a tweet. Yeah. And then coming off the bench looked great.
Yeah. Tapped in the Salvation Army bucket. Yeah, I'll get a fine for that for some reason. I thought
Toriko and Collinsworth, yeah, is that my pairing last night?
Had it right.
Do we really need to find the people for bringing awareness to the Salvation Army?
That's true.
I mean, it gets two minutes of airtime.
That's true.
Maybe donate to the Salvation Army NFL.
Hey, man, maybe they won't find him.
Okay.
I think they will.
So that's the NFCs.
That's the NFCs.
Let's talk about Minnesota.
Okay, because this is a big win for them.
It's easy as a Vika, as a Jets better yesterday.
And that felt like, hey, that's the right side.
there. I mean, Mike White
goes for 389. Now, a lot of
it is garbage time yardage or coming back.
But, like, we knew that that secondary
was susceptible, some big
plays. What we didn't know is that
the Vikings red zone defense was
fucking, you know, the 85 bears
yesterday. I mean, like, where...
All season, they were, like, 26,
and they were great in the red zone.
And everybody could make it about the Jets,
and that's the storyline, but the Vikings continue
to win close games. And
I'll say this. This was
a signature win for Kirk Cousins.
Now he didn't play his best ball.
There were three drives where they picked up
like 285 yards. There were a bunch of other drives
where they didn't move the ball,
especially late. But Kirk Cousins
got absolutely fucking tattooed
in this game. In the first half of this game, there were times
where I was like, he's going to the blue tent.
But he just kept getting up.
And for a guy with a reputation, it's kind of like,
I wear the short sleeve button down. Dad
shirts. You know,
like kind of this personality
This was a dog win by Kirk Cousins, man.
This was a game that the shot, okay, the shot to Rager,
the deep ball to Rager, 97 for the Jets, has an eight-yard running start
to hit him in his ribs.
Unabated, he absolutely tattoos him.
Shepherd.
How about when he ran for 11 yards to pick up the first,
down and Mosley tattooed him. That was the hit that I thought would get him. There were five other
hits like this in the game. Quinnon hit him twice, Quincy Williams twice, Shelton Rankins twice,
and you mentioned Nathan Chepard. And they were fucking, they got all, they got their money's worth
on these hits, man. Officially nine hits. And they got their money's worth on these hits. Because
all these jets guys are big guys. Like even their edge guys, like, okay, Huff's like an edge guy,
but like Lawson's a big, strong guy. All the inside guys are big, fast guys. And when they hit you,
like that fucking hurts and you know like after the game he's the fucking man was the quote from
brian o'neill so kirk cousins big win not a perfect game by any stretch of the imagination for him
but a big win for the vikins and kirk cousins because this was a good football team now i know that
the you know the jets are are dogs to make the playoffs but this is a playoff caliber team okay
mike white was just fine mike white was not the problem here i think mike lafleur was the problem
here. Like find a way to get in the end zone.
We're throwing fades down there on the goal line
and shit. Okay. Like, that's
all I'll say about that because I don't want to go on this
big like, hey, coach is the reason they lost
the game thing. But when you're down there
and you're one of six in the red zone, like
that's not just the quarterback because he
put the ball on Berrios, that
screen play. Barrios turns
the wrong way. They get a block in the back. Like,
there were things they could have done down in the red zone
from a play call standpoint and an
execution standpoint, but it wasn't Mike
White.
Even though in the press conference, Mike White said it was on him.
Took accountability.
I thought was smart.
That's why he's got people rolling up with Mighty Ducks shit on the plane.
We've got Mike White T-shirts and I'm sure Zach Wilson doesn't like that very much,
but this is pro sports.
Why Garrett Wilson at the end of the game is like, that's my guy.
So you have multiple quotes from players on this team given the respective
quarterbacks votes of confidence.
You know, you've got people giving Kirk confident, you know, vote of confidence and win.
And, you know, we all saw.
how hard he got hit and kept getting up.
But those guys saw it and it meant a lot
to them. And then Mike White having to throw the ball
60 times on the road.
I think this is a character building
deal. We don't want to have
to throw the ball 60 times.
That didn't go according to plan. Throwing that pick
the first drive didn't go according to plan
but that was DPI probably.
You know, the Jets
this didn't go according to plan.
Nothing this year has gone according to plan.
You see those total yardage stats?
What was the total yardage? Jets, 486.
Vikings 287.
Yeah.
So didn't go according to plan, but this is a character building deal for them.
And I feel just as good about Mike White as I did last week, which is like, hey, I'm curious.
Like I'm very curious about Mike White.
You said at one for six in the red zone, also three for 16 on third down.
Three for 16 on third down.
Not great on fourth down.
Two of five on fourth down.
And you're headed to Orchard Park.
And that's going to be fun.
It's going to be a lot of fun.
I don't know if they can win, but that's going to be fun.
What do you got the score at?
And that one?
Yeah.
Well, I just, you know, I really, really like this Jets team.
I do think they're good, but I don't know.
The bills win that game by 10 points.
Oh, I don't know about double digits.
I think that could be fun.
Although Josh Allen was at the doorstep of blowing that thing open
in the game they lost the Jets.
If you don't throw that pick early in the game in the red zone,
they're going to blow that team out probably.
And that's the way these games go,
which is why it's all the more impressive
that they spot this team points,
multiple scores on the road
with a backup quarterback whose second game this year
and they still find themselves at the doorstep
of winning this ball game.
And that's a nine and two team or whatever they are.
So Vikings, you think it's a good thing
that they're 9 and 0 in these one score games?
I do.
Not that they're growing these leads
because I think
they're going to be a popular
two seven
the underdog in that two seven
playoff game is going to be a popular pick
who's two right now
it'd be Minnesota and they'll they'll host probably
a Washington or New York or
oh you're saying the dog okay you get the dogs
so so so it'd be
Minnesota and Washington or Seattle
I do think they'd be a popular team whoever it is
but and that's fun it's not about
like covering or not it's about
winning these games you know the Vikings have been
winning these games and I do think that
matters. I really do. You know, yeah, you want some blowouts mixed in in there, but in the
playoffs, that's not really how games are won and lost. So I really like this, you know, I like
this for the Vikings. Great test for them next week at Detroit. It really is. It really is.
Who's not out of it? So, yeah, this was tough. And Mike White, he's got Elijah Moore on the sideline
on 3rd and 10. Elijah Moore getting more touches now. Also on 4th and 10, it looked like Elijah
Moore streaking across the field might have been open.
but I'm not going to, a lot of times we're like, this guy's open.
Well, the guy's going through his progressions.
He might not be open the exact time.
The guy can't see the whole fucking field like Algrove back in the day.
I'll grow when he, in walk through, they snapped the ball and he'd do this.
He'd see all 11 players.
His head would Bob 11 times and he'd scan the whole field in less than the second.
I don't expect my white to have Al Groh vision.
Okay.
But I think, you know, like on 3rd and 10, he could tuck and run it, get out of bounds.
any timeouts. There was plenty of room for him to run.
Could have been a fourth and four.
There's plenty more manageable. You got enough time to at least go for the first down
and then another shot into the end zone. You're right, Reed.
There's plenty of opportunities that the Jets had and that's the bottom line.
You know, and listen, it's their second week with this quarterback.
The Red Zone's one of those money-down areas. Why do you think teams specifically
practice Red Zone every week?
You know, like every week. Every week we give, you know,
hours to the red zone.
Mike White has been in those meetings, but he hasn't been taking those reps.
You know, you call the game a little bit differently with the new quarterback in.
I'm not panicking about the Jets and I feel good about them actually.
Judge should call it the green zone for a couple of reasons.
Their color is green and it can be like money, the money zone.
The green zone.
Just stop calling the red zone.
Boom.
Flip the script.
You're zero for zero thus far this year in the green zone.
Yeah, that's the flip the script.
Nice week.
So in the AFC, you know, that's one of the, yeah, Scott likes that.
So he's going to deliver that to Robert Sala.

You know, there's a lot of teams clustered in the
AFC, right there
around eight wins, the Jets at seven.
There are three, eight,
eight and four teams in the AFC, and they are all going
in different directions, okay?
Let's start with the Ravens,
because we'll be brief on these guys,
because there's not a lot to talk about in these games.
Seriously, I mean, it's just...
I learned that Tyler Huntley's nickname is Snoop.
He's Snoop Huntley.
Oh, that's cool.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Does that affect it at all?
Not at all.
It's positive, if anything.
Yeah.
I like Huntley.
Huntley gives them a chance.
Like Huntley spot starts last year, Cleveland, Green Bay, like down the stretch last year.
I think it was last year.
He was good, man.
You know, like he's serviceable.
And, you know, he's not Lamar, but what they do translates.
You know, like they can get him on the move.
They can run some of the same stuff.
This is an interesting time for the Ravens because of a few things make.
Number one, Greg Roman's name just came up this weekend for the Stanford job.
So there's moving parts there.
And if you're Ravens fan, you might think that's a positive, right?
Yeah.
I might think that's a positive.
Not that, you know, Greg Roman leaving,
Stanford's going to send over a couple wide receivers or something,
but like, you know, maybe there needs to be a shakeup.
On the other hand, like Huntley is going to get some starts here.
Lamar Jackson's knee, I don't know.
We'll probably get news on it today.
It's not season ending.
but it's going to leverage is an interesting conversation here
because we all know the elephant in the room is Lamar's contract
and is he worth all that money?
And lately they haven't been scoring points like that
and he hasn't played his best ball this year.
And now he's hurt.
So this is another like, well, you know, you get hurt,
which would be a disingenuous argument to make from the front office
because he doesn't get hurt that much.
But while he's hurt, the biggest threat to his viability
is Huntley keeping this train moving.
And I have this memory of,
of Huntley playing really well last year too.
And he wasn't starting every single one of these games,
but they did go from eight and three to eight and nine
when Lamar was hurt last year with Huntley starting
most of those games, the vast majority.
Yeah, but he was scoring points.
Yeah.
I mean, he kept them in those games.
He went to overtime with Green Bay.
He was serviceable against Cleveland,
from what I remember.
And at Pittsburgh, that first game,
I think that was a Huntley game.
Yeah.
But they, they, no one's saying he's gonna win the job.
Huntley was one and four.
last one and four 10 the season yeah be clear be absolutely clear nobody's saying he's going to win the
job but what we are going to say is if this team scores 20 points a game over the next few weeks
what's the difference between that offensive output and the output they've had yeah you know so
i mean like this this offense has struggled lately and when you look at the ravens
with or without lamar you've got the easiest stretch uh you know to end the season if you look at it
compared to Cincinnati who's everybody's darling now to win the aFC north and they should be
They're the team that's playing the best right now.
But the Ravens do not have a tough path the rest of the season
and the Bengals have a little bit tougher a path.
Can I run through that again?
Yeah, run through that.
At Pittsburgh for Baltimore.
At Pittsburgh, who's coming on strong.
At Cleveland now with Deshawn Watson, who Deshawn did not look good,
but they got a lot of pieces.
Home Atlanta, home Pittsburgh at Sincy.
So it's going to be tough to get to 10 wins there.
And I read me since he's.
And we say this every week, but no Rashobatman, no J.K. Dobbins for most of the year.
Not a lot of Ronnie Stanley.
No, and I want to be clear, they're not going to win the division.
You know, we thought they were going to win the division.
If Lamar is hurt, they're not winning the division.
I mean, the way that since he's playing, it feels like they're not going to win the division.
Even if their schedule, which you can say Pittsburgh surging or that,
so Pittsburgh beat Inde and Atlanta.
since he's home for Cleveland
Joe Burroughs struggles with Cleveland
at Tampa
at New England
home Buffalo
home Baltimore
they've got a tougher road
for sure
so so that's the whole thing
it's like hey you take the team
who's playing lights out with tougher road
or you take the team that's working through a lot of shit
with the easier road
lights out tougher road
yeah exactly because
a lot of those teams like New England
you know they went to Minnesota
and went toe to toe with those guys
probably got overvalued because of that game
Tampa
Tampa
could be five and seven
Cleveland's a tough game
because of which you mentioned
the matchup but
yeah
Deshawn Watson's fucking
he's got oil on his hands
can't throw the ball
yeah
anyways
I'll uh
you want to hear a cool stat
yeah sure
before Sunday teams were
oh and 206 since
1995 when committing two
turnovers forcing none
and failing to
exceed 10 points.
In the entire league since 1920, they were 8, 325, and 1.
Another thing that I have.
Denver Broncos, Cowboys.
Another thing I have tonight.
1 and 206.
Setting records.
So I'm really hoping that, you know, I bet, uh, I put $100 on the Broncos to have
the lowest point total yesterday.
It pays out like six to one.
Like so we just need tonight to come through.
Yeah.
So we need tonight to come through.
We need, so tonight's a big night.
Yeah.
Hey, I didn't do no $100 or anything.
Money bags over here, but
Let's be real.
Well, I've changed my.
So have I.
Packers down to score and
Ravens down to score,
Live line, a little parlay.
Cash yesterday.
No shit.
That was back in the game a little bit.
You want to hear a terrible,
I mean, it was kind of a bad beat.
Would you classify this as a bad beat?
Live under 37 and a half,
Houston and Cleveland,
first quarter, it's like five nothing or something, right?
Deshawn's, you know,
grape seed oil
the ball's
all over the place
like Houston's just like
Houston's defense
they're playing their Super Bowl man
I appreciate the way they played
okay
but the defenses were too
Sean's coming and coming
okay
there were two
there were two
there were two defensive touchdowns
and one special team
that was yes
yes that was a terrible beat
based on game flow
it was terrible
from the two
one of the touchdowns was
bro
it up.
Yeah.
One of the touchdowns.
And here's the,
I also bet $100 on Houston to be the lowest point total.
They had,
they were a slam dunk until that last drive.
And that paid out 14 to 1.
So not only did they blow the live under by fucking putting it together at the end of that
football game,
but they also blew that bet.
I got a great beat for you.
You've written your chalkboard upstairs.
Giants and commands going overtime.
That was great.
I think 40 and a half and 41.
That was great.
I was sitting there.
I had the under.
41 and I had the commies smaller minus two.
So at one point I had to just flip my focus, the under.
Because that was the big winner.
Okay, we've taken this long to get to the Bengals.
You're number one team in the power rank
is we saved them kind of for last.
And, you know, I can't argue with that, man.
They're playing as good as anybody in football right now.
They're going to have a chance to compete for home field advantage,
which is big.
They just beat our everybody's number one team
for the third time in a calendar year.
And these losses have a lot in common.
Mitchell Schwartz tweeted something yesterday.
He's like, I think this team's better
than the team that beat us, the Chiefs, last year.
He goes, they're more complete, they're better,
the whole thing.
And when you get beat by a team this many times,
it's not a coincidence.
and I would agree this is like a bona fide bad matchup for them.
But, you know, if you're Kansas City,
do you take solace in the fact that you did a lot of shit wrong?
I mean, you're up 2420 on the road in the fourth quarter.
You're at midfield.
Travis Kelsey's got the ball.
You're going to go up 27, 20.
You could go up 31.20.
You spotted them 14 points.
You have three catches, 35 yards coming out of the half for receivers.
Kelsey doesn't have a catch for the third quarter.
Now, you could credit Cincinnati, who I am prone to credit them.
But if you're Kansas City, this isn't like, you were up 21-3 in the AFC championship,
which by the way means that you've been outscored at one point in this game, 38 to 6,
over the past two games by this team.
Now, that changed, obviously, as they came back,
but Kelsey doesn't have a catch to the third quarter.
You can't win like that.
I just don't think you can keep up with Cincinnati like that.
So if I'm Kansas City, I'm thinking, hey, we'll be better next time, right?
I mean, I know this is getting ridiculous, but we'll be better.
You dropped the touchdown in the first half.
The problem for me would be the defense generating season low pressure percentage.
That sense the offensive line seems to.
They're playing good.
They look like what we thought.
They were going to look like week one.
They're playing good.
They're playing really good.
And this is funny because we wrote that offensive line off.
We were like, damn, they found a way to fuck it up.
But they're like a December line, man.
This is their physical.
P. Ryan picked up like 40 yards in the first quarter.
So you soften that defense up.
And they did it, they did it like intentionally.
It wasn't like they just broke off one, you know,
the other week when Richard White, they were playing the Browns.
Tampa was playing the Browns.
Like we said, oh, they went away from the run game.
No, they didn't.
They just were never very good at it.
He had one 30-yard gain.
This was P-Rine was like seven, four.
12 like it was just it was consistent and and on the first 11 play touchdown drive he was huge
establishing a tone so their offensive line behind that left side they picked up a bunch of big
chunks their defense was great burrow was great man awesome he's he's like a snake in the
pocket dude yeah yeah he's he's he's he's brady's pliability 2.0 he's he's he's moved
He's moving diagonally.
It's like a frogger.
It's not just front to back.
He is Brady in the pocket.
And, you know, like when we, I caught shit his rookie year for saying, oh, in the pocket,
it looks like Brady.
And people are like, you're comparing him, Tom Brady.
Turn that tape on.
I don't give a fuck if he's, if he's, if like his career ends today.
Like, he looks exactly like Tom Brady in the pocket.
It's fucking scary, dude.
He looks more athletic.
You said 2.0.
He looks like more athletic.
You know, they busted a,
Brady could never do this.
They busted a zone read.
And he's like, fuck it.
And he just runs for 11 yards.
Like he's, you know,
how about the,
where was it?
It was the third and seven
under three minutes to go.
Sneed has him dead to rights.
They blitzed Sneed.
Which is interesting because they really
picked their spots blitzing him.
Third and seven, dead to rights.
Should be third and 16.
Instead, it's third and manageable, and they pick up another first down,
and eventually ice the game on third and 11,
which was just magnificent.
But Kansas City didn't really blitz him except for two spots,
a two-minute drill at the end of the half,
and then after the Kelsey fumble late with like seven, eight minutes to go, 24-20,
they take that ball off of Kelsey, and then they heat burrow up.
But he made them pay in both situations.
You know that coming in.
You can't blitz him, but Spags had to try.
He was touched one time, according to the box score, George Karloftus.
Crazy.
Crazy.
So, scary.
I guess, I mean, what do you do?
Because there's Chase and Higgins and Boyd?
I mean, do you can't?
Nixon's coming back?
Chase looked good.
Do you try to heat him up, or do you just try to be in another 2420 game and not fumble at midfield?
Unfortunately, you need to beat those guys up front.
That's the whole thing.
And like, Chris Jones alone ain't enough.
And so like Frank Clark, Carlottes, Dunlap, who made a great play on the goal line.
Don't get me wrong, Cincinnati blew some chances.
So you could sit here and explain away what happened if you're Kansas City and be like,
oh, I feel okay because we did X, Y, and Z.
We won't do that next time.
But Cincinnati, Boyd's not going to drop that touchdown.
Yeah.
On fourth and goal, like Dunlap's not going to knock that jet sweep down.
So knowing what type of competitor Mahomes is, do you think that he wants to playoff rematch with them?
Fuck yeah, dude.
That guy wants to kill Joe Burrow.
So Chiefs are now 11 and 3 in their last 14 games that they entered with,
they entered the fourth quarter with 21 plus points that they scored.
And they were winning or tied.
This is all including playoffs.
All three of those losses were CINCY games.
It's crazy.
And, you know, for Justin Reed to pour gas on that fire early in the week was just like,
you know, and Spags had to be like,
Justin, what are we doing?
Because T. Higgins not only started the game
running through two Kansas City Chiefs,
but then the third and 11,
he's got the rookie draped all over him.
Really good coverage, by the way.
Just a perfect throw.
Just absolute Grim Reaper stuff from Joe Burrow.
Like, like, just...
And we were talking,
this was the kind of game that Kansas City
the last four or five weeks
in the middle of the season
each the last couple years that they win.
They get a turnover or the other team makes a mistake
down the stretch.
And then Kansas City goes on a long drive
where they get a long chunk play to Kelsey,
they kick a field goal, they win the game.
Or they score a touchdown, they win the game.
Didn't happen today.
And Burrow is beautiful off that Justin Reed comment.
I would have cared a lot more
had I known what he was talking about.
That's perfect.
That's kind of how I feel sitting here thinking about.
Isn't that perfect?
Yeah.
Who are you talking about?
And why are we doing this?
Why are we pissing off T. Higgins?
Why are we pissing off Joe Burrow?
But the defense played big.
We've been saying this a lot lately.
I mean, like, those guys deserve a lot of credit.
Reeder.
Remember last year, Reader stepped up big in that playoff game
against Tennessee was just balling out.
You forget about guys like him and Hill.
Like Reader forced the PBU that forced the field goal early.
Hill was disrupted.
even on the Hubbard sack.
If you watch Hubbard's sack,
he'll just body slam some guy.
He's getting held,
and that's the reason that Mahomes can't step up
from like nine yards.
That's why Hubbard gets a sack.
So, you know, like the, oh God, go watch.
Go watch it.
That's a huge sack.
Exactly.
Go what, and Hubbard played well.
Go look at, go look in the low red
where they almost make a stand.
There was a play of Jet McKinnon's trying to run the ball
in like the sea gap.
And Hill gets knocked off the ball initially,
but then just bench presses Wiley so hard into Jet McKinnon that you could hear a noise.
Like you could hear like the wind getting knocked out of Jet McKinnon because he ran into Andrew Wiley's back so hard because he'll just bench pressed them into the motherfucker.
These guys inside were playing ball and not just the guys inside the guys in second level.
Joe Tooney was out, which is a big deal.
But they frustrated Mahomes whether they were rushing four or they dropped eight.
There was one third and 15.
Mahomes picked it up, but there were two guys, not just one, two that were downfield illegal.
So it came back third and 20, and of course they punt.
But like this was, there were two moments I want to highlight that the edge guys, I talked about the inside guys.
The edge guys really took over and changed this game.
So Boyd drops the ball and it's tied 1717.
You've blown a lead at this point, right?
which is a time when you're
even if you're at home that your asshole gets tight
like everybody's ass gets tight in that stadium
you can feel it like when you know boy drops the ball
it's tied 1717
Kansas City marches right down
they're going to go up 2417 or whatever it is
I think okay and then 2724
the Chiefs Cross midfield was seven minutes to go
okay this is this this is first and 10
we get a Hendrickson pressure they got to throw the ball away
fast forward to third and three from the Sincere three from the
since he 33, we get Osai.
They rush three. Osai wins, which you're never supposed to win on a three-man rush
and get home for a sack. He gets home for a sack.
And that changes the whole game because it forces Bucker to miss a field goal.
And he's missed a few field goals in these particular ball games late.
So they made some of the biggest plays of the game.
And the biggest game, though, of course, by the defense is Kelsey getting the ball taken off.
And it's two weeks in a row.
Remember last week Derek Henry is running in the end zone?
And that didn't pay off for them because they,
got a bad bounce, but they took the ball off of Derek Henry.
This is a ball-aware defense.
Yep.
And if I could say the fucking D-Cordinator's name with confidence,
Anorumo?
Anarumo.
Okay.
I would give him a lot of price right now because he has been a hell of a,
hell of a football coach over the past two years with this group.
Lou.
Yeah, Lou, they really, I love Lou.
Yeah, Lou's a good name.
It's a great name.
They really maximize the group they have.
Bond Bell coming downhill.
They all care.
They all run into the football.
Well, and with the exception of a woozy A,
none of those guys have that red Q next to their name
or that red O letter next to their name.
That's a big deal.
Maybe you want to be healthiest a month from now,
but you find yourself in a race for the number one seed,
home field advantage, all that good stuff right now
and you're really healthy and mixing coming back, as you said.
Okay, real quick.
Dolphins come down to earth a little bit.
San Francisco, man, that defense is pretty good.
But more than anything, I've been saying,
Listen, this is not personal, but I've been saying this.
The dolphins have not played anybody in a while,
and all of a sudden, they get dropped in the deep end.
Now, this is the deep end.
Fred Warner is the exact type of player.
San Francisco is the exact type of team
that can make things hell from Miami
because they occupy them.
Like when we had Fitzpatrick on last week,
he said it, not me.
Tua lives in a box.
That box is in the middle of the field
from like five yards to 25 yards or whatever it is.
He's lethal in that,
that box. If you can force him
throw the ball outside the numbers, if you can force
him throw the ball deep,
you know, this Niners team, you can get after
him in the pass rush, it's going to be
tougher sledding. And I think Tua would tell
you this wasn't his best game. This was,
in fact, it was awful. He was just missing.
He was just missing guys. Left and right. You know,
because the one thing you can count on with him is his
accuracy, but he was not accurate.
You know,
he threw two picks. He nearly threw
some more. He missed some open guys.
and really it wasn't you can try to explain it away
and say
you know it was the 49ers pass rush but it wasn't
Bosa got home a few times
you got home in some big spots
that third and that uh well no it was third down
it was the game sealing sack that went for a touchdown
when they were down uh nine points or whatever was late
in that ball game
that was gorgeous I mean he's got he's got tackle beat
and and he's got him sideways
all he has to do is pop back inside and he knows
right when to do it. Full extension gets Tua. Tua will be better. This is not, there's going to be
people that tell you, and you have to be careful with these people, that Tua's an awful quarterback.
He's not an awful quarterback. There's going to be people to tell you the Tua's Joe,
Montana or Dan Marino. He's not Joe Montana or Dan Marino. He's somewhere in between. And,
and, you know, even a guy who's kind of in between those two extremes has to hit those throws.
These are easy throws.
Tyreek Hill was open yesterday.
I saw a stat yesterday.
And there's another one interesting.
Per next-gen stats entering Sunday's game,
the 49ers had allowed just 71 completions
on the intermediate level over the middle of the field
since drafting Fred Warner in 2018.
That's 15 fewer than any other team
is allowed over that span.
The 49ers expected completion percentage allowed
to that zone in that time,
56.5%
56.5 was the lowest in the
NFL, owing in no small
part to Warner's route, recognition
awareness, and efficient footwork, all of
which are on display Sunday.
Since 18, that's like one intermediate completion of game.
Yeah.
That's a hell of a number.
I mean, if that's true, and I don't have the source here,
I just put it in my notes, so that's kind of irresponsible by me.
Next Gen stats, who, powered by AWS?
Yep, it's next, per next gen stats.
That's all I have to say.
I'll give you a next gen stat.
Our friends at AWS?
But the bottom hill is Tyreek Hill was open.
Okay, Tyree Kill was able to find space in the 49ers defense
recording 10 open targets, three plus yards of separation in week 13.
He has 57 receptions on open targets 14 more than any other wide receiver.
So Mike McDaniel, who was great yesterday still, like they had guys open.
You know, if they made those throws, they probably beat that team.
Now, if Jimmy G's healthy, I think the Niners probably run away with that game.
But these are things that they can fix.
And they will fix him.
They'll be better than they were yesterday.
But my point is that was rock bottom for Tua, right?
That was the worst possible matchup for them,
and he played as bad as he could.
So I still think the dolphins are good.
Oh, seven on third down, three and eight total yards,
and just 1926 time of possession.
Say word and still down six with six minutes to go and driving.
Exactly.
The Gassiki almost catch that would have kept a drive going deep into San Francisco
territory.
And that's how good they are.
That's how good they are offensively is like they can be out of it.
And, you know, if you got a Brock Purdy in there and you're not able to pull away,
you're going to be looking over your shoulder the whole damn game.
And, you know, Tua did hit that deep ball where they had Tyreek open in the middle of field.
And that made the game really interesting.
And the fourth and two, you could say, hey, I mean, I think you're crazy if you think that's a catch.
Drake Greenlaw played amazing.
I mean, he was top down.
He made some great plays on the sideline.
Those two, that pass breakup and then the fumble were back-to-back plays.
Listen, that's why the dolphins are still a top-sevent team to me.
Because as bad as that quarterback played, you almost went on the road and beat the number one defense in the league.
You know, 17 points, whatever it is, not going to be enough.
Okay?
After the first play of the game, you got 10 points the last 59 minutes.
That's not going to be enough, right?
Okay, like it can't just be too big plays, but they'll figure out a way to get this right.
I still don't think, I still think differently of their ceiling than other people,
but this is not how bad they are offensively.
The quarterback didn't play well.
Brock Purdy played pretty well, man.
Brock Purdy played damn good.
Brock Purdy, relative to expectation, play great.
He fits some balls into tight windows.
Not saying he's going to be the next coming of anything, but he can keep them competitive.
Not intimidated.
No.
Poised.
Irrelevant, according to the NFL draft, but not Sunday.
Yeah.
So, I mean, this is a big one, man.
And Jimmy G., I feel bad for him.
We were going to get Jimmy G.
And Brady next week.
That's going to be Mr. Irrelevant and Tom Brady.
Yep, yep.
Now it's going to be Mr. Irrelevant in Brock Party.
Ha.
That's funny.
It's a Brady.
Yeah, I got it.
Yeah.
No, but I mean, Purdy was fighting for a roster spot.
Now he's going to have a real opportunity to lead a very quarterback-friendly.
These were two quarterback-friendly offenses facing off against each other yesterday.
And this kid, the fact that he outplayed an MVP candidate was pretty damn impressive.
And a week ago, he was, everyone was making fun of him for turning the wrong way on a handoff.
He was the butt of a bunch of jokes.
As they should have made fun of him, but it's a new week for Brock Purdy.
And look at him go.
And you get no time, man.
You get no time.
And they did pressure him.
Miami pressured him.
He got hit, I feel like more than...
Bradley Chubb had three hits on him in a row.
Three straight plays, three hits on him.
So I'm not trying to anoint this kid.
I think he's good enough to keep them competitive.
Anybody giving you any prognosis north of that
doesn't...
They're just talking out of their ass
because we haven't seen this kid play enough.
I mean, hell, he could be more efficient than Jimmy.
You know?
And his birthday is December 27.
So at some point, you're like probably six, seven years old.
You're like, these aren't my birthday presents.
This is just one extra Christmas present that I'm getting.
That's good.
No delineation.
So he's had a chip on his shoulder his entire life.
That explains my brother Howie, whose birthday's right there as well.
Yeah.
Yeah.
We talked about it earlier, Baker to the waiver wire.
San Francisco is 24th in the order.
So probably doesn't make it to him, Colts,
and the Saints might pick Baker up earlier.
But there is a quarter, there is a guy out there who knows the Shanahan offense.
Josh Johnson.
Nope.
Matt Ryan.
RG3.
RG3.
That's interesting.
RG3 will still be posting tour for MVP while he's on the, he'll be on the Niners roster.
Like, I only would trust Baker with a guy like Kyle Shadahan.
I don't know another team that would, I don't understand why you would do that.
It's like when a guy dates a porn star, you know, not that Baker's...
Jimmy G.
Yeah, yeah.
Well, it's like that guy's definitely the only guy that can do that.
He's comfortable enough.
He's confident enough.
You know, like, he's the guy that can do that.
I mean, I think, like, you can't control a porn star.
You can't control Baker Mayfield, but maybe Kyle Shanahan can't.
Is that, does that metaphor work read?
Not really.
No, I think it does.
I think you're there.
Yeah.
Well, especially because Jimmy G.
Actually, I actually dated a porn star.
Right.
I think a couple.
So he can help Kyle Shanahan with this.
Yeah.
Hey, guess this line presented by the Bill Simmons podcast.
Dolphins at Chargers on Sunday night football.
Dolphins by four.
Dolphins by three at the moment.
Yeah.
Dolphins by four.
They're going to win that game.
How about Christian McAvrey?
Unless Tua plays the way he played Sunday, which I don't know, man.
fuck. Right. How about Christian McCaffrey being in a Robbie Anderson situation? Robbie Anderson got out of New York,
went to Carolina a couple months later, followed by Sam Darnold. McAfree gets out of Carolina.
He's going to see the San Francisco. Baker's going to follow him. Okay, so that's funny. Also with this
San Francisco team, it's a shame. Like, we're going to look back on this team. Maybe we won't, but I will
and he'll say, damn, I had these guys all together for three, four weeks. We had Trent, we had Christian,
We had Jimmy healthy, like, and we were, like, people were just finally realizing that this is a Super Bowl contending team.
And now in Brock Purdy, we trust.
But I want to be clear.
Like, what Kyle Long has said, when you get the backup in there, everybody's on there, everything plays better.
Yeah.
Everybody plays better, but does the backup play well?
Well, yesterday shows, maybe so.
I know, but everything was so, you know, like, at least with Jimmy, even though he takes more risks, you know, there's some bigger chunks.
You know, there's some more shots.
Purdy made some great tight window throws, but they're all like at the sticks.
Everything's like they're going to have to possess the football.
That's how they're going to win.
They're going to have to keep other teams off the field, which means they're going to have to be really good on first or second now.
So however they get to that, you know, the run game, the depth that running back isn't great.
They're going to have to throw screens.
They're going to have to get positives on first down and hope that some of these easy throws turn into big throws, right?
And that's kind of they could turn into a yackery.

One words.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
What do we got?
Detroit Jackson, will you got anything make?
Yeah, yeah, dog, let me scroll.
Vindicated is how I feel.
Rout.
Yeah.
Is how I feel.
Yeah.
That game wasn't close.
Yeah, I just feel like there was a time
where we were all like,
Dan Campbell's the right hire, man.
and everybody's being all unfair to him
because about the knee biting and all that stuff
and it's Detroit and then Deadspins writing articles about him
such and such.
Here's another word, joy,
because Stanford Steve had the Jags.
Oh, that's funny.
That was over quickly.
He also had the under last night.
Which is rough.
Steve.
I'll admit, I sprinkled a, like a hundo on Colts money line
and the under and a parlay.
I like how our units.
Yeah, units are just way down.
You know, this week, we're going to, we're, but yeah, Detroit, if Detroit had lost, the Vikings would have clench.
So they're stubborn.
And if the lines win the next two games, they have a 30% chance to make the playoffs.
So actually a miracle, miracle, let me use that word, that Trevor Lawrence survived that hit, that that wasn't his ACL.
Yep.
That guy has some fucking crazy joints.
Good to be young.
Good to be young.
The defense has improved in Detroit.
They're playing more zone.
Like since Aubrey Pleasant left.
I mean so Plaza Aubrey Plaza was speaking of I'm five I'm five episodes of white lotus now I haven't
seen six nice okay yeah Plaza's a great actress she's awesome good she's awesome she's so good at acting she's
acting in the show you know when she's like has to pretend that she's not pissed or like you know
she's so good at everything movie wreck for you it's called Emily the Criminal it's recent movie starring
her okay okay that's great you know what else is great who great actress
the Italian young lady.
She's great.
Yes.
Yeah, she's great.
Yes, Lucia.
Yeah, she did some of her best work in episodes four and five.
Okay.
What now?
Cleveland, Houston.
Oh, Cleveland, Houston.
I wrote down Jets.
Because, damn, if the Browns don't blow that Jets game,
they're 500 right now with Dishon.
Pretend for a second that Dishon looked okay and not bad.
pretend for a second that you feel okay rooting for Deshawn.
That's just six and six feels a lot different than five and seven.
The ball was skipping off his hand.
Like it was just, it was like sliding.
I mean, I'm not even making a joke, but it was like the ball,
it was like Gay Lord Perry, the ghost of Gay Lord Perry was out there,
spitting on the ball.
Yeah, ball was all over the place.
He just died.
Yeah, rest and peace.
Yeah.
Gay Lord.
Not alive.
So Deshawn Watson, you know, like this Browns team, we've gone through this media hellstorm, right?
We've all got to say the right things and all that shit.
Jacoby Brissette.
We got to bench Jacoby who had played like a fucking hero relative to expectations.
Like, ironically, it's not even the offense that's been the problem, you know?
And then Deshaun comes back in and the Texans, it's like their Super Bowl, man.
Like they were playing their asses off.
That defense was playing.
it's ass off
most of America hasn't heard
of any of these guys
most of America's not watching
but they are
they are just playing
dude I think there was safety
early in this game
so yeah
value and effort by the Texans
but Texans still remain
the number one draft pick
yeah for sure
that's important
Texans pressured Watson
47.8% of his
dropbacks
eat them up on Sunday
that's 17.6%
higher
than Jacoby's average of 30%.
I think he was feeling another kind of pressure, too,
yesterday.
Yeah.
So, um,
Green Bay, Chicago.
Ah,
Green Bay, Chicago.
Will.
I wrote down Will, as in Will Anderson.
Because Chicago right now is in line for the number two pick.
They're not after a quarterback.
They got Justin Fields.
Everybody else is prime position to trade down.
Do you like Will Anderson as much to Stanford, Steve?
Well,
mock draft I looked up in preparation for this podcast.
Just remember I asked you.
You know, I think you can poke holes into any of those guys,
kind of like Kavon Tibuto who's coming on and looking really good.
He's looking for Jalen Carter.
He's up here Googling Jalen Carter.
He's Googling Javan Carter.
There's a Memphis Grizzly.
Yeah, I heard Jalen Carter might be the number one defensive pick.
No, there are a couple of guys.
Point being.
Jalen Carter picked up that
quarterback this weekend.
That kind of sealed the deal for me.
You can pick a human being up like that.
Just celebrate at the same time.
Nonchalantly.
He's like a pirate.
Aaron's ownership of Chicago continues,
and I don't think Chicago minds that it's dropping games right now.
No, no, no, no.
Tough picked by fields at the end.
But, you know, these are learning experiences for this team.
I think they're going to be better next year.
And I don't know.
Yeah.
Seattle Rams.
Seattle went to Germany and fell off, man.
You know?
I don't know.
Stem cells.
You know, yeah.
Maybe we found out that the defense isn't actually that good, right?
Like maybe we found out there's some deficiencies in that, you know, in that defense.
Because I got to go back and watch this game, but the Rams move the ball.
Yep.
John Wolford.
With Wolford and Acres who, you would have thought,
Acres said something about McVeigh's family earlier this year.
And now I'm watching him on the small TV run into the end zone on the Seattle Seahawks.
Ken Walker and Gino Smith get into it on the sideline, a lot of figure pointing.
Oh, were they finger pointing?
They're finger pointing.
And Smith started the game really well.
He had touchdown drives of 80 and 91 yards in their first three possessions.
The middle 20 of that game, they had some issues.
but he came back with touchdown drives to end it and put it away.
That's a strong finger point from Kenneth Walker.
Can we run back that point, please?
That was a, ooh.
Oh, that's all the way out in front.
Yeah, that's when you extend like that.
Yeah.
And then Gino gave him like the half-hearted, maybe it was you.
You see, watch the Gino doesn't really mean it as much.
Well, it ends with a touchdown pass to D-K.
And Tyler Lockett goes 9 for 128 and a touchdown.
DK goes eight for 127 and a touchdown.
So as much as that defense might be a...
Yeah, it's fun.
The offense is fun.
Gino's legit.
Legit.
They're seven and five.
I heard a fun little race for the ball.
Brian Fitzpatrick was on our show again.
Go back and listen to that, but he was talking about Gino.
Like, he's always throwing a beautiful ball.
Like, I never knew that about him.
Early in his career, I just didn't, I didn't see it through that lens.
I just thought he was kind of a journeyman.
But evidently now the...
Every club that had him.
It's coming to fruition.
So, yeah, Seattle, L.A., we've done Detroit, you know, Pittsburgh, Atlanta.
Hey, Stone Cold Lock of the Week.
You know, I tried to take back Atlanta and add the Raiders to my car, Raiders Chargers.
I wrote down five, as in five in a row, and 500 is in the sights of the Raiders and Josh
McDaniels after a lot of vitriol headed their way.
They won three in a row at Rams, Home Patriots.
That could be five, and that could be seven and seven here before long.
Mighty impressive.
No, I mean, like, listen, it,
Advanced Miller Light mentioned game ball to Devante Adams.
Look like Green Bay Devante Adams.
No question.
I got Hayward as my word from, or it's a name,
but Pittsburgh, Atlanta.
I mean, that was a good day for the Hayward family, man.
You got a Hayward sack, a Hayward touchdown.
I think they went to go see their dad's grave.
I mean, against his former team.
It was an emotional day for them.
They really imploded.
Atlanta did when that that Patterson touchdown was called back.
And so this was, I don't know, these teams aren't going anywhere.
It doesn't matter.
And that was a tough kind of situation they had.
Last week they had their pass picked off at the red zone.
They had that holding penalty, which you just mentioned,
which wiped out Cordaroles touchdown.
They had to settle for a field goal.
And then Pittsburgh just runs the clock.
all the way down. And then they get pinned on a punt at their own two and throw a game-ending
interception. Yeah, and Arthur Smith says he might go to Desmond Ritter after the buy. They're not
out of it. The Bucks have the Saints and then the Niners, so anything can happen. But it just
feels like it's really discouraging when a team or a division is trying to hand you a playoff
spot, you just can't find a way to win these games. They've lost six games by six points or
less. I mean, they've lost games in pretty tough fashion. So you have to feel good about them
next year, but you know how that goes.
It never necessarily translates
and who's the quarterback.
So it would be interesting to see what Ritter's got.
I feel like he's kind of in that picket zone
where you were like, yeah, he's probably not the guy,
but you never know.
And Pittsburgh, I feel like it's more you never know
at this point.
Doesn't Ritter, it's total unknown to me.
So we'll see.
Las Vegas, L.A. Chargers.
Yeah, Sean Payton just kind of
on the Fox said,
my viewing party would be
him watching these Chargers games.
I mean like, you're a defensive head coach.
You're one of the worst defenses in the league.
So I don't know what more we have to see here.
I agree.
Listen, I don't like firing people from a podcast
and Brandon State is a really good coach.
That's why he has a head coaching job.
Like he's a really good football coach.
He's done a lot in the game.
But like this is not gone well.
And when the culprit is your side of the ball,
you know and when you lose games in really frustrating fashions
I mean like how many times are we going to have to watch
plays like that fourth and 12 and say oh what might be
you know if this kid had more help if Mike Williams is healthy
if we if we had a run game if we had
this is from the San Diego Tribune here
that's San Diego Union Tribune
this is funny
they're grading everything they were like grading the run
game, the defense, San Diego
Union Tribune. If you know
where Jimmy Hoffa lies, that's where you'll
find the run game. Doesn't exist.
That doesn't make sense, because Jimmy
Hoff is definitely real. And if you knew
where it was, then it would exist. Exactly.
Dependable Austin Eckler
caught a pass and fumbled it away
leading to a go-head touchdown. Okay,
they're right. You have your typical
turnover late. You blow a lead, right? You're up 10-0.
You lose Sebastian Joseph
Day to an injury.
and then the
you know
Staley got not since we're on the
San Diego Union Tribune I'll let them do this
segment
Staley again refuses to double the
better receivers in this case Adam
which makes no sense Staley also went for
on fourth and two at the Vegas 17
and failed whoever's designing his protection
scheme is as Johnny Carson would say
oh boy
Brandon was a lookout at Pearl Harbor
guess the age of the author
of this article too soon
This guy's old.
Yeah, this guy's old.
If Herbert goes down, he could be riding Justin's shirt tails into the unemployment line.
Well, no, I mean, whether or not Herbert goes down, we should really be talking about this.
That's all I'm saying.
Am I out of line?
In line.
In line.
The way coaches, I mean, you're not giving them five years anymore.
Robert's about to be 25.
Yeah, dude.
A rookie deal?
No more soon.
Yep.
Miller Light mentions.
Oh, Miller Light mentions.
Best plane ride.
Best plane ride.
Buffalo Bills.
We thought Josh Allen's going to be out for a month.
He wasn't.
They go to Detroit for two weeks.
And then they come home in quotation marks just to go to New England and Bill Belichick
and the spread is three points.
And they handle their business.
2410 was it?
24-7, 24-10.
Hard to beat those gorgeous uniforms that the Pats were rocking.
And they do it, short flight home.
Mini-buy.
Middie by.
That's a fun.
That's a fun playing ride, Montgomery.
Yep.
I'll give it to the Utah Utes.
Now I don't know if they stayed the night in Vegas.
Now if they did, it probably a great...
Probably not.
Rough.
Yeah, because, you know, it's early enough they can get home.
They're kids.
But yeah, they were like a bunch of Vikings in there.
They were just plundering, you know?
They're just fucking up everybody's weekend.
Everybody down at USC thought we're going to the playoff as a storybook ending.
and USC's back.
Nah, just the team that beat you early in the air, doing it again.
Kim Rising got hit, knocked his helmet off,
and he was just yelling, hit me harder.
Dude, they're, they're sick, these Utah guys, man.
I love it.
I love Kyle Winningham.
I just, they're fun.
So I bet they had a good plane ride back from Vegas.
I wanted to shout them out.
Worst plane ride, you could go dolphins or Colts.
I'll probably go Colts just because it was later in night.
And Mike McDaniel seems like the kind of guy
that after a loss like that,
He knows not to go nuclear on these guys.
Throw on some Magruber, right?
Seriously, they were probably watching a funny movie.
He's the type of guys like, guys, I know you got your ass kick today.
Let's have some hot cocoa or something.
Like, let's just get over this one.
Like, let's just flush it.
Because that kind of feels like the kind of coach you would be.
I think the Colts had the worst playing ride home.
New York Jets were several, like one play away,
but several times away from being eight and four
and stealing that game in Minnesota.
and did not do it.
I think they will
rue that loss. But they love
Mike White.
Yeah, they, yeah.
They're just having less fun with Mike White.
Worst bus ride, the commanders.
Or train.
Right? That's a short one, but a weird one.
Like, you're just like, fuck, what do we just do, dude?
I had to come back from San Francisco once
after a tie. It's not fun.
But you get to see him in two weeks
at least, and you got to buy this week.
A lot of teams on buys.
Why are we having buys on December 11th?
Who's the, isn't Pearl Harbor coming up?
7th, December 7th.
Yeah, you missed that.
41.
You missed that.
I mean, I missed it.
Yeah, I mean, I missed it.
Well, I talked about it first.
So I care about it more.
I've mentioned Pearl Harbor twice on this show.
San Diego Union kicked it off, but.
I just gave it, I gave the exact date.
Okay.
Okay.
What is it?
Viewing party.
Kyle's birthday?
No, it's the fifth today.
It's Kyle's birthday.
Today's the fifth.
So what are we going to do for Pearl Harbor?
We wish Kyle happy birthday.
We should also mention he won't be here for today's show.
No, he won't be here.
Because he's, yeah.
Okay.
Hollow man.
Who's the hollow man?
Reed wanted to give it to Barrios.
I think it was a tough catch.
But yeah, it's a tough one you got to make, right?
Yeah, sliding away.
It hit him in the shoulder pads and, you know, right here.
Yeah.
I'm not seen harder.
I'm going to mention Brian Dable for timeout usage,
but I'm going to give it to me.
Um, you sat three players in fantasy and blew my doors off.
Did I beat you yesterday?
Just boat raced me.
Really?
Just beat the ever.
Must have been AJ Brown, huh?
Rogers had a few points.
AJ Brown, a Monra.
A monrah.
You kicked the shit out of me.
They're good.
And you, and you were starting dobs out, pits out.
Somebody else on a buy.
Yeah.
It was bad.
Luckily, I've scored enough points throughout the year that I'm probably not going to
finish dead last.
It's probably going to be you and me tied with the worst record, but I'll, I'll, I'll
You were the Dolphins. I was the Niners. I beat you with Brock Purdy.
Assuming there was no commissioner text message.
No, there was no reminder. It's still a Mickey Mouse League.
Thankfully, this Mickey Mouse Commissioner of ours, I won't say that.
Great Commissioner.
He's a great commissioner.
Biggie Mouse League.
Great Commissioner hasn't extended our regular season, so it's going to end next week.
So my 5 and 0 team, that's now 5 and 8 will not have, will not finish.
Oh, real quick.
Let's go Beville Conway, because Rich Eisen is calling me in two minutes.
minutes. New England Patriots unis on Thursday night. Yeah, that was beautiful. That was a beautiful,
I mean, the Dallas red stripe. I know it's America, so I can't really argue, but like.
Kind of looked more like France. Yeah, I didn't love it. Yeah. Okay, I'm going Chargers Raiders,
boring, but I can't get enough of those, those canary yellow pants. Reed doesn't like the
canary yellow pants. He says they're mustard. Mustard is, that's not mustard. That's Heinz.
Mustard in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the
Benjamin Moore paint book is fucking, it's the color of great Poupon.
It's not the color of Big Bird.
As I go through all these games, even the college ones, the college championship games,
they're all played on turf and indoors, and it's a problem.
Yeah, it's a problem.
And everybody's getting hurt.
Everybody's getting hurt on this turf.
St. Louis Memorial.
I'm going to give it to Christian Watson.
This guy has become a real problem, bro.
This guy's going to be a problem.
He already is a problem.
He's got eight touchdowns in five games.
Or I'll give it to Huntley, who drove the, the race.
Ravens into position to win that football game,
which later in the season,
it might feel like they're out, but they could get well,
and they could be a contender.
All that stuff we said today could just not be the case.
And you look back at this game and say,
hey, really good we got a guy like Huntley.
Josh Uchay, going back to Thursday night.
He balled.
Played well.
Two sacks.
Nice ghost technique sack.
I mean, that fucking looks awesome to do.
And then a game ball, I'm going to give it to Brock Purdy.
I mean, it's just, again, to be,
No warning to just be called up like that and to make all those throws.
He didn't just manage the game.
He did for most of it.
But when he had to win the game, he won the game.
Devante Adams for me again.
Vintage Devante and the Raiders are playing well.
Vintage indeed.
College football.
Nicole Ourback.
Chris Long sits down with Nicole Ourback.
Talk a little college ball.
A conversation with Nicole Ourback.
We're heading to bowl season.
Take care.
Nicole our back joining us for the last time for a little while and then we're going to get back together before the bowl games.
This little layoff is nice, I'm sure, if you cover college football.
Nicole, how are we doing?
We are running on fumes, but, you know, the light at the end of the tunnels there.
What's funny is, you know, obviously there's such a buildup for selection Sunday and like this conference championship weekend and everything.
And for a number of years, like, all of my coworkers would get to that point and they'd be like, great.
Like, I'm so excited to have a Saturday off.
And I've covered Army Navy, covered it like three years in a row.
And it's like the first Saturday off for everybody else.
And you're like still at a college football game.
And Army Navy is totally worth it.
So I'm, but I'm glad not to be doing that this year.
Like I am, I'm literally trying to plan day drinking Saturday and like go to brunch and just be like, this is what normal people do on weekends.
I'm going to do the same thing at the Army Navy game.
I'm going, Nicole.
You are?
Have you been?
I'm going with a good buddy of mine.
Jason Van Camp.
He was a former Army football player and he climbed Killy with me for my water boys deal.
And we just remained friends and he was like one of these years.
I got to get you up here.
And I cleared the schedule.
I cannot wait.
Bo Allen is going to join me up there.
It's going to be a lot of fun.
What should I expect there besides a lot of running the football?
Yeah, well, that's, you know, and this is an audience that appreciates that and is not going to make fun of option football, which, by the way, like, works quite a bit.
I would say definitely wander, and I'm sure you will in the tailgating scene.
It's really cool.
Lots of people have, you know, like things that represent, you know, which branch of the military they served in and, like, specifically, like, which, you know, like squadron and all of those types of things.
you definitely go see the march on before the game
make sure that you're in there early for all of that
and like it is one of the coolest things
I know everyone always says this
but when you wait at the end of the game
as soon as it ends and there's the anticipation
it's building and it's building and building
because you want to sing second so you know
you watch and you're listening and then the losers singing
and they're doing their whole you know pomp and circumstance
And then it just goes nuts for the winner.
Like it is just such a cool, such a cool environment.
And so I love both the head coaches involved.
So like you're going to want to essentially root for both sides.
But it's, it's really cool.
So I would just say wander, wander around, go visit with different people tailgating,
talk to a bunch of different people.
It is such a cool event.
You are going to love it.
I want to check the weather too because I feel like it's always raining during that game.
I always feel like it's always.
I've been there for snow.
snow before, which I think helps the option football.
But yeah, it's fun.
I'll send you, I wrote a big feature on Jeff Monkin a few years ago.
So I will send you that so you can do, you know, some prep work.
Okay.
Really good coach.
Definitely, definitely wear some, you know, some red, white, and blue.
Okay, cool.
I would recommend that.
Okay, yeah, because you can't, they kind of take it away some of my, like, main color ways here is like just a dude walking around, like,
olive green or, you know, and brown and the navy blue.
I don't want to pick the wrong side here.
So anyways, I'm excited about that.
No ball for a little while.
We've got bowl game news.
Any interesting bowl games that you saw just before I hit you on the playoff?
Yeah, I actually, I think that a lot of the New Year 6 ones are going to be interesting.
Everyone's obviously already, for gambling purposes, looking at that Alabama K-State game,
because it's hard to imagine that a lot of these Alabama players are going to opt in and play in that game.
So that one could be interesting.
I think the Rose Bowl is going to be great.
Penn State, Utah.
Like I think that both those teams are playing really well at the end of the season.
Penn State's got all these young, literally like true freshmen who are just like huge impact players all over.
The running backs, everyone.
So they're really fun.
We do have Notre Dame, South Carolina.
That's going to be a fun one as well.
And then oddly enough, I don't remember the last time I've seen this, Iowa and Kentucky are playing, again,
for the second straight year.
I feel like they always try to avoid doing that with bowls,
but that one's a weird one.
So I don't know how that happened,
but I would say those games and then,
you know,
Tulane USC is one of the weirder possible bowl matchups
that you can get in the Cotton Bowl,
and I just think it's going to be fun.
Plus, you've got a literal orange bowl
with Clemson and Tennessee.
So that part, I very much appreciate that,
the commitment to the bit.
To the bit.
And we had like the Purple Palace
at the Big 12 championship.
that was a hell of a football game those two teams i mean you could see it dugging after the game
obviously uh emotional that just meant a lot to that team it meant a lot to both those teams and that's
the draw of having a conference championship game it's like this you're really playing for something
you know i think uh that was fun to watch so i mean like starting with tc u they're in um you know
like does their physicality translate to this matchup because i i feel like they're a very
team, right? But sometimes that doesn't translate schematically to your next opponent. Do you think
it translates? It's going to be an interesting, a definitely interesting style matchup with Michigan.
First of all, I just want to say, I am relieved and happy that TCU made the playoff and is the number
three seed because there was like a 5% chance in my mind that that wasn't going to happen.
Like, I was pretty sure that that was going to be fine because for all the obvious reasons, right?
Like, I mean, it again was still even weird that a team that didn't play got bumped up and is in the playoff in Ohio State.
And we all know why that happened.
And that seemed fair.
But for people, including Nick Saban, who went on a politicking tour, even on Fox, which was hilarious during the Big Ten championship game.
You know, I mean, like, they had no good wins.
I just, I think so many people would have just been furious.
at the entire college football playoff forever if they had bumped TCU and taken Alabama.
So anyway, I was just very relieved, very happy for them.
I think that was part of the emotions yesterday, was not knowing.
So I am interested in this.
I was actually in the Michigan team room while they were watching the selection show earlier on Sunday.
Yeah.
So they, first of all, we're booing anytime Ohio State was mentioned or like the camera pan to Columbus, which was great.
but they were excited about this matchup.
And I think, A, because, you know,
I think that they think that they can win this game
and they're already, you know, pretty serious favorites in this game,
but also to avoid Ohio State in the rematch.
I mean, if they were to meet,
it would be in the national championship game.
So I think they were celebrating that as well.
But, you know, I mean, this is an unbalanced team in TCU.
They are physical.
They're incredibly tough and difficult
and they don't give up on these games.
Max Duggan, in that drive to tie the game,
Like, it says 11 players are out there for TCU, but one player wields the team down the field in that game and like tied the game up.
And so I was remarkable.
He better be in New York as a husband finalist.
I think that that's probably going to happen.
But, but yeah, like I'm super interested to see, you know, how Michigan handles him and that offense.
They've got a bunch of different weapons.
Obviously, the passing game gets a lot of attention, but like they can run the ball too.
defensively they've had their ups and downs like i'm interested to see that especially as michigan's
continuing to evolve without blake quorum so i think it's going to be an interesting matchup and
like it's a really really fascinating quarterback battle because like you could not have someone who's
more experienced and has been in every possible situation imaginable max duggan and then jj's still
new still learning still missing some of these big big pass plays um but they're still winning
game. So like that part is going to be is going to be really interesting. So I like that matchup.
I really like the two semifines. I know that most years they're blowouts, but I like the
storylines and like I find the matchups themselves compelling. So most years, yeah, blowouts. I forget
what the numbers were. But like as far as one score games, there are very few in the first round
since the inception of this thing. And I wonder if you think, you know, Georgia I think is a nine point
favorite or Michigan's a nine point favorite over TCU. George is a touchdown favorite over Ohio
State. Do you think we get a one score game in here? And which one is it? I don't know.
I would love to say yes. I just think that both games have potentials for, you know, the favorite
team to pull away. I would say for the odds for a closer game, probably Michigan TCU. I know like
they obviously just said that the spread in that game is opening.
at nine. But like we're looking at these two teams. They're both really good second half teams.
TCU has played a lot of close games. Michigan has played some games that are a little bit
closer than comfortable just because, you know, they're comfortable with some of the field
goal games that they've played and running the ball and not necessarily scoring, you know,
in super quick drives. So, so it's possible. But yeah, I do think we have a potential for two
blowouts. I know a lot of people are thinking that, you know, maybe.
Georgia is getting, not maybe, Georgia's getting the more talented opponent, right?
And that's a little bit unfair as the one seed.
But we just haven't seen the high end from Ohio State in a while.
And I think at their high end, they're great.
But, you know, is CJ Stroud going to run the ball?
Is he going to seek out contact?
Is he going to do things that he hasn't really done?
Are they going to be healthy?
Who's going to be playing for them?
And then what about the defense and all the holes that works?
exposed against Michigan, right? So I think like Georgia, we've talked about it a lot. Like they do
have a fun offense. They've added so many wrinkles and done so many different things in the past
game and also their use of tight ends. But fundamentally, they're very comfortable being really
physical, running the ball. Like that is also their DNA and that's how they built themselves up to
their national power status. So, you know, a lot of the things that Michigan was able to do
to open up different things in the past game, Georgia's going to be able to do too. So I'll probably
talk myself into these games being closer by the time we get closer to the game. But first,
first blush, I would say I do think we could be looking at, you know, double digit victories.
Man, you know, I'll do the same as you. I'll probably, it's, it's easy to talk yourself into a,
you know, nine point underdog as the only college football game in a while that means a whole lot
kicks off. So I will probably be right there with you. Okay, real quick, Dion Sanders, Colorado. I mean,
We kind of, it was telegraphed, like we saw it coming, but it still just kind of was a surprise.
And is he, is his brand, is the guy he is, like, powerful enough to have people hit the portal,
to have, you know, to have the NFL, NIL money kick up a little bit, like to get some of that.
Because just, just recruiting and winning at Colorado, like, the honest way is going to be really hard.
Do you think he's got what it takes, you know, that extra, you know, juice he has?
to put them over the edge by the time he bounces for another for another job.
I am so interested to see how this shakes out because I feel like the reactions are either like,
oh my God, this is a disaster.
It's never going to work or it's like this is brilliant.
And I feel like it's somewhere in between because like I understand from Colorado's perspective,
they haven't had anything positive or any juice like you just said in how long.
I mean, it's been it's been forever.
So why not try something different?
I think, I'm sure we all would say, you know, it was much more of a slam dunk if it was, you know, like a school in the southeast or somewhere where you just know that that's a sweet spot recruiting wise and where the talent is.
But I mean, I do think he's going to get some guys.
I mean, we didn't think, did you think he was going to get a five-star player to commit to him at Jackson State?
No, but I do think it like it was more, I still think he's, I do think he's going to get some guys, right?
Yeah, I don't think he's going to get like everybody, but he's going to, that will be a drive.
Yeah. Like for Jackson State, I think it was really like, it was such a historic kind of thing to get this much attention at a SWAC school, like to the point where it kind of rub maybe Eddie Robinson Jr. the wrong way and that sort of thing. Like, it just felt like there was an X factor that brought Travis Hunter to Jackson State. And I'm not saying that great players don't go to these schools. But the question I have is Travis Hunter, who went there because of Dion, and because of that perfect storm and the timing of it all.
and all that the vibe down there.
Like is he going to,
is he going to transfer to a place at Colorado that he was never thinking about?
Like that's the question.
Like,
or some of the guys that he really,
you know,
besides his sons,
like are dudes going to hit the portal and head up there?
Yeah.
I mean,
we're probably going to have a really good sense of this,
literally this week,
because the transfer portal opens on Monday.
So that's all the undergraduate transfers that can play right away without a penalty.
So we'll get a better sense.
But I think it's a really good question.
This is why, like, I'm not saying it's a slam dunk or anything, but, you know, do, do players, especially, you know, when you think about, like, the talent rich areas in the southeast, do they really want to go to Boulder, Colorado? Like, that is a culture shock. It's a tough place to recruit to. And I, you know, I wonder. I mean, we'll find out. I think, you know, DM's going to do all the things that we can expect of him. I mean, I think he has already posted, like, a lot of content around his farewell, Jackson State, and his first meeting, Colorado.
and, you know, he's always going to have the camera,
he's going to have that attention.
The NIL question is an interesting one about, you know,
what does that booster world look like for that band base?
And what are they going to, you know, come behind?
You know, I do think maybe Dion's able to help out
with some, you know, more national brands and different things as well.
But these are all really important questions.
And it's such a strange fit.
I mean, if you had said to anyone 12 months ago,
like, this is the Power 5 job that Deion Sanders,
was going to get and that he was willing to take.
I don't think anyone would have said that.
So I'm really interested, really interested to see what it looks like, what it takes.
It certainly makes Colorado way more interesting, which I think is the whole point here.
But yeah, I mean, he's a great salesman.
Is he going to be able to sell five star, four star, three star, whoever's on going to
Boulder?
Yeah, we'll get a better sense this week.
I think he's going to get some guys.
We know he can coach.
I mean, he really did maximize, you know, what.
Jackson State was able to do on the field as well. So let's see. I mean, this could be very
interesting. It could be really good. It could be really bad. It could be somewhere in the middle,
but it's going to be interesting. Sure will be interesting. Another reason to watch
Pact 12 after dark. Interesting questions. We'll see it play out. But first, a nice break for
Nicole Auerbach and hopefully you get a little rest and you get some day drinking done.
We will see you in a couple weeks. I will. Enjoy Army Navy. I
expect to get some photos and some videos so i'm excited all right have a great time i'll see you guys in a few
weeks
