You know, a fringe top seven team remaining in top seven. You're welcome. Macon's got Sincy, Philly, Buffalo, Kansas City, Miami, Dallas, and Minnesota. Since he was just so freaking physical. They're really good. They're really complete right now. Yes. So that's why, hey, listen, like, if you want to put them one, you had them first.

I'm not going to argue with that. I mean, like, they are a top five team, and this year, the way it goes in the NFL, any of the top five teams can win the whole thing. I mean, and we just lost one probably when it comes to like a Super Bowl contender. I'm not saying the Niners can't go on a run with Brock Purdy, but I don't know. That's why I couldn't put him in there, even ahead of Tua and the Dolphins. Well, in that game, I mean, there's that fourth down that Chanahan challenges that Gassiki doesn't catch. I mean, that was, they were going in to potentially take the lead in the fourth quarter. So, and they're going against Brock Purdy and not Jimmy Garoppolo.

Yeah, and that's a big end. But, yeah, Miami's just still. I think San Francisco runs away with that game if Jimmy G's in the game, especially the way too in the offense played, man. they just couldn't keep pace. So we'll get to that in a little bit, but I mean, interesting when you look at the Power Rankins,

the consensus is... The consensus is Philly, Buffalo, Kansas City, Dallas, Cincinnati, Miami, and then San Francisco. Enough folks had the Niners still in the cops of... Minnesota didn't make the consensus. No, Minnesota was not on the ballots of Corporate Scott or Cowboy Reed.

That was a good game they won yesterday. We'll get to them a little bit against the Jets. I mean, everybody's kind of the stories of the Jets, but the Vikings keep winning close ball games. Nine and O winning close ball games, and they've won some close ball games against playoff teams. So I think a lot of times people are like, well, you know, they're not blowing anybody out.

I mean, they actually got blown out in the two losses. That would explain their point differential. But, you know, when you beat good teams close, like that's what you're going to have to do in the playoffs. So I don't necessarily hold that against them. We'll get to talking about them in a second. Let's just do America's teams and get through this and get to these games. There's so many damn good games.

You know, I've been complaining all year about not enough good games. Yesterday it was too many good games. It's hard to keep up with. And a tough slate. I looked on the chalkboard upstairs. Do you have a pretty long teaser still in the works? Yeah, a big teaser. Could hit tonight.

Remember at the bills, they lost 38 to three. Maybe he should have started sooner or maybe he needed the month to watch. Maybe, but you get the month to watch. You get the month boy, let them. A young son, Gabriel. So he wears gloves, throwing the football. So, you know, he has a month to watch. He has a month to play and, you know, kind of get that preseason thing.

Because he was kind of cheeks early. And now he's really good. Like when you watch, no, really good. When you watch the indie game, he made some really nice throws. And yesterday they moved the ball. I mean, they missed some opportunity. but Deontay Johnson. George Pickens is one of the most electric fun guys in football.

Friarmooth, Naji is solid. They have a nice little team to watch. Ravens twice with her without Lamar. We'll find out at Panthers, Home Raiders. That sounds like 3 and 1, which makes the 8 and 8. And then you close with Deshawn and the Browns at home to maybe keep the Tomlin streak alive.

And Tomlin's locked in. You saw that video of him in the tunnel when he was asked something. And he said, don't talk to me. I'm working. man. Yeah. Which I kind of like that. You know, like, you know, everybody's supposed to be as nice as possible when you encounter

fans and that sort of thing. But my man is working. And, you know, like, I don't like the sneak recording thing. I'm not a fan of the sneak recording thing. When somebody has the phone on you, like when they take a picture of you or they record a video of you, they're almost saying, like, smile. Like, you have to smile. And Mike Tomlin doesn't have to smile.

Mike Tomlin's got to keep his head down and beat the Falcons. I feel like the Steelers can, or one of those franchises. that people don't like from afar, all the Sixburg stuff, a lot of winning. But this team's kind of likable. No, I like this team. They've turned the corner on that.

One of America's teams. The Tulane Green Wave. They beat UCF in the AAC title game 4528. It was closer than that. But they go to 11 and 2. They're playing USC in the Cotton Bowl. They're retaining their coach, Willie Fritz,

outstanding season. A fixture, a staple of my America's teams this year, Chris, as you know. And given this success, it will allow to, Tulane to expand. Expand its reach,

its recruiting footprint, its facilities, its brand. Get there. It will widen, if you will, the school's chances to become a group of five

mainstay. It will widen its legitimacy in the world of college football. What, I don't know if you can quantify it. But Tulane, congratulations on a wonderful season.

They were predicted to finish seventh in the Big 12.

No, I know. That's wild. Of 10 teams. And then wild that K-State did that without their starting quarterback. That's right. K-State 10 and 3. They'll play Alabama in the Sugar Bowl. K-State narrow losses to Tulane, TCU, and Texas.

Texas this year. And then I went back trying to find, hey, when's last time T.C. or K State did this. They do it all the freaking time because of Bill Snyder. Bill Snyder won 11 games four straight years from 98 to 2001. 11 games, all them years. Did Caleb Williams cry? Was that, like, was that a big deal? Did I miss that? Because it seemed like that was a big deal in retrospect this weekend when Max Duggan cried and people, you know, louded him for crying. And then all of a sudden there were these people coming out of the word, well, when Caleb Williams cries, it's a big deal. Like, what the fuck is going on?

He'll hit waivers when it's finalized later today. New San Francisco 49 or Baker Mayfield. because they were sloppy as hell, but that's why it was impressive. Like, I'm not saying that, you know, the game plan is to go out there and fucking commit a bunch of penalties and overcome them. but this is a team that can beat you in a lot of different ways. Last week they run for 300 yards.

They don't really need the run game, right? We don't want to go out Jeffrey Simmons into the teeth of that defense, their make. And they beat them anyways. They beat those guys up bad. And, you know, week one, it's RPO's, you know, at one point in the season they're running zone reads. You know, they beat you a bunch of different ways.

but it's impressive to me because, you know, in the first half alone, they had eight penalties on offense, 10 of them as a team, the one defensive penalty. Well, there were two. There was the Eps hit in the end zone, which I didn't think was dirty. You know, you could say what you want about targeting,

that sort of thing. He's got to take the football off the guy. And then one defensive penalty was Josh Sweat, which extended a drive and they scored. So all these penalties, you know, like, you know, the defensive penalty, that was points. But on offense, You have a touchdown drive, the first one, they overcome two penalties.

The second touchdown drive, they overcome four penalties. The fourth drive, you know, when they're up 14-7 in plus territory, they have two penalties, and they're forced to punt after Bud Dupree sacks. So like, on one hand, you're kind of like, you're playing with your food a little bit, you're playing with fire, like put this team away. They're too good not to put away early. And on the other hand, you're kind of impressed that they're, they're, shooting themselves in the foot and they're still walking over the goal line.

Like second half they had a touchdown drive that they overcame two penalties. These are drive killers, man. And this team's good enough to overcome them. And Siriani was accountable about some of the penalties. I think at halftime. He's like, listen, that's on me. There's a lot of communication stuff. I mean, he was fairly specific there.

And so I thought this was the Eagles most impressive win in a lot of ways. If you look back at this season, you could say, hey, Minnesota early in the season, but that's early in the year, right? Everything went well for them that night, but everything went wrong for them, and they still ran these fucking guys out of the gym. And Tennessee's a good football team. Tennessee only gets blown out by the bills, man.

So this was impressive. Eagles just the third team in the last 90-0 seasons to rush for 350 plus in back-to-back games. Rush for 350-plus, then throw for 350-plus. So we can do it any way we need to do it. Yep. No turnovers from them. I think that Washington loss was a good thing.

Oh, yeah, it was. Sometimes you hear anything, I'd rather go 20 and 0. Nah, 12 and 0 would be a big burden right now. 11 and 1, they're just cruising under the radar. As we said, everybody's on Tennessee plus four and a half. And then just go and take them apart. And the Washington loss, that was after the Joseph and Sue signings, yeah? Before.

So I think part of it is that that loss got them better. Yep. You know, like, hey, sometimes you lose games where there's a Houston game, which was a win, but it felt like a loss if you bet the Eagles. And then you've got that game where Brian Robbins is breaking off chunks. And then you go out and you rectify the problem. And then you get Jordan Davis back. And Jordan Davis coming back in this game was a big, big deal.

You know, a big part of Gannon's defense is the nose, right? being able to have a dominant or at least competitive nose. You know, that's why they brought in Joseph for depth there. Like, let's just stop the bleeding. Let's just bring in Sue, like, because we're going to be in these odd fronts. And they ran odd a lot yesterday, and they did a good job on Derek Henry, who people have been bottling up lately. Last week, he didn't have much.

And this is usually where Derek Henry turns the afterburners on late in the season, and everybody else gets weaker in December, and he speeds up. up and it just doesn't feel that way. And I think what's interesting and anything could happen next week, he could break off 220 and be back on the heater. But, you know, every year we've said this with Derek Henry. And how old is he, like 28, 29 years old? He's 29.

You're waiting for the December that it just doesn't, you know, the car won't start. You know, you go out and you've got a classic car and all of a sudden the thing needs some work. It's not turning over or whatever it is in the morning when it gets cold. and this might be that December where we're like, okay, we're starting to see some signs of aging. Like this guy's had so many, so many. I mean, like, they have given him the ball thousands of times

over the past half decade. 49 in a month. Jags at home for the Titans next week. So, you know, like impressive for the D-line. You know, they hold him. He's 11 for 30. The Bengals held him down last week. You know, the Eagles D-line had six sacks, nine hits.

So I don't think Tannahill got hit like that all year. In fact, I know he didn't get hit like that all year. Sweathead, two sacks. He showed up big Hargraves on the board. Fletch had a really nice sack stringing Tannahill out. Reddick was all over the place. He continues to be all over the place. I think Tannahill was sacked 19 times all year.

He's sacked six times yesterday. So this Eagles D-line. They've got a scary playmaker in A.J. Brown, which they had no business acquiring. Like, no business. The Eagles getting AJ Brown, like the rest of the league has to be pissed at them. because that player, if he's not on this team,

they're not nearly as scary. They're fucking terrifying, and they don't have Dallas Goddard right now. And they're still picking in the top five. And they're still picking in the top five. So if you look at AJ Brown, he had more receptions and yards and touchdowns than the Titans receivers did yesterday.

That's eight for 119 and two touchdowns, four for 41 and a touchdown for the Titans receivers. And Burks was out with a concussion. We mentioned that EPS play. This was a revenge game from him. For sure. Pure and simple. And Burks might end up being great,

but Tennessee had all the parts still there. With an AJ Brown, they're 7 and 5 right now. With an AJ Brown, you've got to think that they're... Nine and three. Yeah. I like 9 and 3.

And the crazy thing is, you know, like they're New England guys. The guys that came down to Tennessee to make these decisions, were able to GM, like they think like New England guys. Get rid of a guy a year. Yeah, and a year late.

Which, hey, listen, I have the utmost reverence for the way they do things in New England and Bill and the whole thing. But like, how many times do guys from New England have to find out that you go away from New England and you try to do the New England thing and it doesn't work? That thing only works if you have Tom Brady. Okay? Like, this isn't that fucking hard. And when you have a guy like AJ Brown. 25 years old. Who's 25 years old who yesterday, him and Jalen hurts outside the numbers in deep is gorge.

every time Jalen Hertz puts that ball right on the money and with the way Mahomes played yesterday now Burrow has entered the race probably for MVP I mean like you can make that argument I mean like he's um Tua played bad yesterday I don't know why he'd be in the race for MVP not to be disrespectful I mean there's a guy on his team was more valuable than him um but you know you've you've got you've got you've got Burrough you've got Mahomes you have Jalen Hertz who yesterday seems like he climbed into the driver's seat. This MVP conversation with the way the media is now today, feels like a Heisman conversation,

He does a great job of tracking it over his right shoulder. He gets like half a foot out. They go back to him the very next play for a touchdown. He's wide open and you think, oh, busted coverage.

Nah, he just routed Christian Fulton out of his fucking shoes. Those corners are too small for the length that Devante Smith has, for the length and size that AJ Brown has. So, you know, like a PI set up another touchdown. He is a fucking machine, dude, and the Eagles didn't have to be great, and they still ran this team out of the building. And Devante goes five for 102.

Eagles at the Giants next. We'll get to the Giants, but... What did you think? Giants? Yeah, did you feel... How did the Ty feel as a G-Men fan? I care again. I Ryan Care again because I wanted to throw up.

I thought it was awful. I thought they played not to lose. And with that schedule coming up with the Eagles twice, I think that's curtains for the Giants' playoff hopes. So Ganoe brought up the fact I think he was on the Panthers.

and the reason why Heineke's the guy, that fourth down, rolling left, late in that game, in overtime, or not in overtime, at the end of regulation, the fucking first touchdown to McLoran where he evades pressure and just keeps the play alive.

So the Colts were the only team remaining not to give up 30 or more points. And they were, they were tracking that through three quarters. That's over. But I feel bad for their defense last night a little bit. But what do we do with Dallas? Is it a blowout win and they're now trustworthy? or is it it was 2119 with the Colts in the fourth quarter? They're the same team, in my opinion, that they've been all season,

which is a very good, dangerous team that has to prove to me that they're trustworthy. I mean, like, DAC has to prove to me that he's trustworthy through a playoff run. The defense has to remain disruptive, forcing turnovers. You know, they have to stay hot going in the playoffs.

And that's the whole thing. Like, the defense scares me, and the offense, like with Pollard, there's a shot in the arm, but C.D. Lamber's, played great. You could add Odell Beckham Jr. I understand that on one hand it sounds like I'm talking myself into a Super Bowl contending team which they are but on the other hand I just don't trust the Cowboys yet. I think that's fair last night was the first time in Zee's career where he was

the Vikings red zone defense was fucking, you know, the 85 bears yesterday. I mean, like, where... All season, they were, like, 26, and they were great in the red zone. And everybody could make it about the Jets, and that's the storyline, but the Vikings continue to win close games. And

I'll say this. This was a signature win for Kirk Cousins. Now he didn't play his best ball. There were three drives where they picked up like 285 yards. There were a bunch of other drives where they didn't move the ball, especially late. But Kirk Cousins got absolutely fucking tattooed

in this game. In the first half of this game, there were times where I was like, he's going to the blue tent. But he just kept getting up. And for a guy with a reputation, it's kind of like, I wear the short sleeve button down. Dad shirts. You know, like kind of this personality This was a dog win by Kirk Cousins, man.

This was a game that the shot, okay, the shot to Rager, the deep ball to Rager, 97 for the Jets, has an eight-yard running start to hit him in his ribs. Unabated, he absolutely tattoos him. Shepherd. How about when he ran for 11 yards to pick up the first, down and Mosley tattooed him. That was the hit that I thought would get him. There were five other hits like this in the game. Quinnon hit him twice, Quincy Williams twice, Shelton Rankins twice,

and you mentioned Nathan Chepard. And they were fucking, they got all, they got their money's worth on these hits, man. Officially nine hits. And they got their money's worth on these hits. Because all these jets guys are big guys. Like even their edge guys, like, okay, Huff's like an edge guy, but like Lawson's a big, strong guy. All the inside guys are big, fast guys. And when they hit you, like that fucking hurts and you know like after the game he's the fucking man was the quote from brian o'neill so kirk cousins big win not a perfect game by any stretch of the imagination for him but a big win for the vikins and kirk cousins because this was a good football team now i know that the you know the jets are are dogs to make the playoffs but this is a playoff caliber team okay

But when you're down there and you're one of six in the red zone, like

that's not just the quarterback because he put the ball on Berrios, that screen play. Barrios turns the wrong way. They get a block in the back. Like, there were things they could have done down in the red zone from a play call standpoint and an execution standpoint, but it wasn't Mike White.

Even though in the press conference, Mike White said it was on him. Took accountability. I thought was smart. That's why he's got people rolling up with Mighty Ducks shit on the plane. We've got Mike White T-shirts and I'm sure Zach Wilson doesn't like that very much, but this is pro sports. Why Garrett Wilson at the end of the game is like, that's my guy. So you have multiple quotes from players on this team given the respective

quarterbacks votes of confidence. You know, you've got people giving Kirk confident, you know, vote of confidence and win. And, you know, we all saw. how hard he got hit and kept getting up. But those guys saw it and it meant a lot to them. And then Mike White having to throw the ball 60 times on the road. I think this is a character building

deal. We don't want to have to throw the ball 60 times. That didn't go according to plan. Throwing that pick the first drive didn't go according to plan but that was DPI probably. You know, the Jets this didn't go according to plan. Nothing this year has gone according to plan.

You see those total yardage stats? What was the total yardage? Jets, 486. Vikings 287. Yeah. So didn't go according to plan, but this is a character building deal for them. And I feel just as good about Mike White as I did last week, which is like, hey, I'm curious. Like I'm very curious about Mike White. You said at one for six in the red zone, also three for 16 on third down.

Three for 16 on third down. Not great on fourth down. Two of five on fourth down. And you're headed to Orchard Park. And that's going to be fun. It's going to be a lot of fun. I don't know if they can win, but that's going to be fun. What do you got the score at?

And that one? Yeah. Well, I just, you know, I really, really like this Jets team. I do think they're good, but I don't know. The bills win that game by 10 points. Oh, I don't know about double digits. I think that could be fun. Although Josh Allen was at the doorstep of blowing that thing open

in the game they lost the Jets. If you don't throw that pick early in the game in the red zone, they're going to blow that team out probably. And that's the way these games go, which is why it's all the more impressive that they spot this team points, multiple scores on the road with a backup quarterback whose second game this year

Number one, Greg Roman's name just came up this weekend for the Stanford job. So there's moving parts there. And if you're Ravens fan, you might think that's a positive, right? Yeah. I might think that's a positive.

Not that, you know, Greg Roman leaving, Stanford's going to send over a couple wide receivers or something, but like, you know, maybe there needs to be a shakeup. On the other hand, like Huntley is going to get some starts here. Lamar Jackson's knee, I don't know. We'll probably get news on it today. It's not season ending. but it's going to leverage is an interesting conversation here

because we all know the elephant in the room is Lamar's contract and is he worth all that money? And lately they haven't been scoring points like that and he hasn't played his best ball this year. And now he's hurt. So this is another like, well, you know, you get hurt, which would be a disingenuous argument to make from the front office because he doesn't get hurt that much.

But while he's hurt, the biggest threat to his viability is Huntley keeping this train moving. And I have this memory of, of Huntley playing really well last year too. And he wasn't starting every single one of these games, but they did go from eight and three to eight and nine when Lamar was hurt last year with Huntley starting most of those games, the vast majority.

Yeah, but he was scoring points. Yeah. I mean, he kept them in those games. He went to overtime with Green Bay. He was serviceable against Cleveland, from what I remember. And at Pittsburgh, that first game, I think that was a Huntley game.

Huntley was one and four. last one and four 10 the season yeah be clear be absolutely clear nobody's saying he's going to win the job but what we are going to say is if this team scores 20 points a game over the next few weeks what's the difference between that offensive output and the output they've had yeah you know so i mean like this this offense has struggled lately and when you look at the ravens with or without lamar you've got the easiest stretch uh you know to end the season if you look at it

compared to Cincinnati who's everybody's darling now to win the aFC north and they should be They're the team that's playing the best right now. But the Ravens do not have a tough path the rest of the season and the Bengals have a little bit tougher a path. Can I run through that again? Yeah, run through that. At Pittsburgh for Baltimore. At Pittsburgh, who's coming on strong.

At Cleveland now with Deshawn Watson, who Deshawn did not look good, but they got a lot of pieces. Home Atlanta, home Pittsburgh at Sincy. So it's going to be tough to get to 10 wins there. And I read me since he's. And we say this every week, but no Rashobatman, no J.K. Dobbins for most of the year. Not a lot of Ronnie Stanley. No, and I want to be clear, they're not going to win the division.

But, you know, if you're Kansas City, do you take solace in the fact that you did a lot of shit wrong? I mean, you're up 2420 on the road in the fourth quarter. You're at midfield. Travis Kelsey's got the ball.

You're going to go up 27, 20. You could go up 31.20. You spotted them 14 points. You have three catches, 35 yards coming out of the half for receivers. Kelsey doesn't have a catch for the third quarter. Now, you could credit Cincinnati, who I am prone to credit them. But if you're Kansas City, this isn't like, you were up 21-3 in the AFC championship, which by the way means that you've been outscored at one point in this game, 38 to 6,

over the past two games by this team. Now, that changed, obviously, as they came back, but Kelsey doesn't have a catch to the third quarter. You can't win like that. I just don't think you can keep up with Cincinnati like that. So if I'm Kansas City, I'm thinking, hey, we'll be better next time, right? I mean, I know this is getting ridiculous, but we'll be better. You dropped the touchdown in the first half.

The problem for me would be the defense generating season low pressure percentage. That sense the offensive line seems to. They're playing good. They look like what we thought. They were going to look like week one. They're playing good. They're playing really good. And this is funny because we wrote that offensive line off.

We were like, damn, they found a way to fuck it up. But they're like a December line, man. This is their physical. P. Ryan picked up like 40 yards in the first quarter. So you soften that defense up. And they did it, they did it like intentionally. It wasn't like they just broke off one, you know, the other week when Richard White, they were playing the Browns.

Tampa was playing the Browns. Like we said, oh, they went away from the run game. No, they didn't. They just were never very good at it. He had one 30-yard gain. This was P-Rine was like seven, four. 12 like it was just it was consistent and and on the first 11 play touchdown drive he was huge establishing a tone so their offensive line behind that left side they picked up a bunch of big

chunks their defense was great burrow was great man awesome he's he's like a snake in the pocket dude yeah yeah he's he's he's he's brady's pliability 2.0 he's he's he's moved He's moving diagonally. It's like a frogger. It's not just front to back. He is Brady in the pocket. And, you know, like when we, I caught shit his rookie year for saying, oh, in the pocket, it looks like Brady.

But Kansas City didn't really blitz him except for two spots, a two-minute drill at the end of the half, and then after the Kelsey fumble late with like seven, eight minutes to go, 24-20, they take that ball off of Kelsey, and then they heat burrow up. But he made them pay in both situations.

You know that coming in. You can't blitz him, but Spags had to try. He was touched one time, according to the box score, George Karloftus. Crazy. Crazy. So, scary. I guess, I mean, what do you do? Because there's Chase and Higgins and Boyd?

I mean, do you can't? Nixon's coming back? Chase looked good. Do you try to heat him up, or do you just try to be in another 2420 game and not fumble at midfield? Unfortunately, you need to beat those guys up front. That's the whole thing. And like, Chris Jones alone ain't enough. And so like Frank Clark, Carlottes, Dunlap, who made a great play on the goal line.

Don't get me wrong, Cincinnati blew some chances. So you could sit here and explain away what happened if you're Kansas City and be like, oh, I feel okay because we did X, Y, and Z. We won't do that next time. But Cincinnati, Boyd's not going to drop that touchdown. Yeah. On fourth and goal, like Dunlap's not going to knock that jet sweep down. So knowing what type of competitor Mahomes is, do you think that he wants to playoff rematch with them?

Fuck yeah, dude. That guy wants to kill Joe Burrow. So Chiefs are now 11 and 3 in their last 14 games that they entered with, they entered the fourth quarter with 21 plus points that they scored. And they were winning or tied. This is all including playoffs. All three of those losses were CINCY games. It's crazy.

And, you know, for Justin Reed to pour gas on that fire early in the week was just like, you know, and Spags had to be like, Justin, what are we doing? Because T. Higgins not only started the game running through two Kansas City Chiefs, but then the third and 11, he's got the rookie draped all over him. Really good coverage, by the way.

Just a perfect throw. Just absolute Grim Reaper stuff from Joe Burrow. Like, like, just... And we were talking, this was the kind of game that Kansas City the last four or five weeks in the middle of the season each the last couple years that they win.

They get a turnover or the other team makes a mistake down the stretch. And then Kansas City goes on a long drive where they get a long chunk play to Kelsey, they kick a field goal, they win the game. Or they score a touchdown, they win the game. Didn't happen today. And Burrow is beautiful off that Justin Reed comment.

I would have cared a lot more had I known what he was talking about. That's perfect. That's kind of how I feel sitting here thinking about. Isn't that perfect? Yeah. Who are you talking about? And why are we doing this?

Why are we pissing off T. Higgins? Why are we pissing off Joe Burrow? But the defense played big. We've been saying this a lot lately. I mean, like, those guys deserve a lot of credit. Reeder. Remember last year, Reader stepped up big in that playoff game against Tennessee was just balling out.

You forget about guys like him and Hill. Like Reader forced the PBU that forced the field goal early. Hill was disrupted. even on the Hubbard sack. If you watch Hubbard's sack, he'll just body slam some guy. He's getting held, and that's the reason that Mahomes can't step up

from like nine yards. That's why Hubbard gets a sack. So, you know, like the, oh God, go watch. Go watch it. That's a huge sack. Exactly. Go what, and Hubbard played well. Go look at, go look in the low red

where they almost make a stand. There was a play of Jet McKinnon's trying to run the ball in like the sea gap. And Hill gets knocked off the ball initially, but then just bench presses Wiley so hard into Jet McKinnon that you could hear a noise. Like you could hear like the wind getting knocked out of Jet McKinnon because he ran into Andrew Wiley's back so hard because he'll just bench pressed them into the motherfucker. These guys inside were playing ball and not just the guys inside the guys in second level. Joe Tooney was out, which is a big deal.

But they frustrated Mahomes whether they were rushing four or they dropped eight. There was one third and 15. Mahomes picked it up, but there were two guys, not just one, two that were downfield illegal. So it came back third and 20, and of course they punt. But like this was, there were two moments I want to highlight that the edge guys, I talked about the inside guys. The edge guys really took over and changed this game. So Boyd drops the ball and it's tied 1717. You've blown a lead at this point, right?

which is a time when you're even if you're at home that your asshole gets tight like everybody's ass gets tight in that stadium you can feel it like when you know boy drops the ball it's tied 1717 Kansas City marches right down they're going to go up 2417 or whatever it is I think okay and then 2724

the Chiefs Cross midfield was seven minutes to go okay this is this this is first and 10 we get a Hendrickson pressure they got to throw the ball away fast forward to third and three from the Sincere three from the since he 33, we get Osai. They rush three. Osai wins, which you're never supposed to win on a three-man rush and get home for a sack. He gets home for a sack. And that changes the whole game because it forces Bucker to miss a field goal.

And he's missed a few field goals in these particular ball games late. So they made some of the biggest plays of the game. And the biggest game, though, of course, by the defense is Kelsey getting the ball taken off. And it's two weeks in a row. Remember last week Derek Henry is running in the end zone? And that didn't pay off for them because they, got a bad bounce, but they took the ball off of Derek Henry. This is a ball-aware defense.

Yep. And if I could say the fucking D-Cordinator's name with confidence, Anorumo? Anarumo. Okay. I would give him a lot of price right now because he has been a hell of a, hell of a football coach over the past two years with this group. Lou.

Maybe you want to be healthiest a month from now, but you find yourself in a race for the number one seed, home field advantage, all that good stuff right now and you're really healthy and mixing coming back, as you said. Dolphins come down to earth a little bit. San Francisco, man, that defense is pretty good. But more than anything, I've been saying, Listen, this is not personal, but I've been saying this. The dolphins have not played anybody in a while, and all of a sudden, they get dropped in the deep end. Now, this is the deep end. Fred Warner is the exact type of player.

San Francisco is the exact type of team that can make things hell from Miami because they occupy them. Like when we had Fitzpatrick on last week, he said it, not me. Tua lives in a box. That box is in the middle of the field from like five yards to 25 yards or whatever it is.

He's lethal in that, that box. If you can force him throw the ball outside the numbers, if you can force him throw the ball deep, you know, this Niners team, you can get after him in the pass rush, it's going to be tougher sledding. And I think Tua would tell you this wasn't his best game. This was,

in fact, it was awful. He was just missing. He was just missing guys. Left and right. You know, because the one thing you can count on with him is his accuracy, but he was not accurate. You know, he threw two picks. He nearly threw some more. He missed some open guys. and really it wasn't you can try to explain it away

and say you know it was the 49ers pass rush but it wasn't Bosa got home a few times you got home in some big spots that third and that uh well no it was third down it was the game sealing sack that went for a touchdown when they were down uh nine points or whatever was late in that ball game

that was gorgeous I mean he's got he's got tackle beat and and he's got him sideways all he has to do is pop back inside and he knows right when to do it. Full extension gets Tua. Tua will be better. This is not, there's going to be people that tell you, and you have to be careful with these people, that Tua's an awful quarterback. He's not an awful quarterback. There's going to be people to tell you the Tua's Joe, Montana or Dan Marino. He's not Joe Montana or Dan Marino. He's somewhere in between. And, and, you know, even a guy who's kind of in between those two extremes has to hit those throws.

These are easy throws. Tyreek Hill was open yesterday. I saw a stat yesterday. And there's another one interesting. Per next-gen stats entering Sunday's game, the 49ers had allowed just 71 completions on the intermediate level over the middle of the field since drafting Fred Warner in 2018.

That's 15 fewer than any other team is allowed over that span. The 49ers expected completion percentage allowed to that zone in that time, 56.5% 56.5 was the lowest in the NFL, owing in no small part to Warner's route, recognition

awareness, and efficient footwork, all of which are on display Sunday. Since 18, that's like one intermediate completion of game. Yeah. That's a hell of a number. I mean, if that's true, and I don't have the source here, I just put it in my notes, so that's kind of irresponsible by me. Next Gen stats, who, powered by AWS?

Yep, it's next, per next gen stats. That's all I have to say. I'll give you a next gen stat. Our friends at AWS? But the bottom hill is Tyreek Hill was open. Okay, Tyree Kill was able to find space in the 49ers defense recording 10 open targets, three plus yards of separation in week 13. He has 57 receptions on open targets 14 more than any other wide receiver.

So Mike McDaniel, who was great yesterday still, like they had guys open. You know, if they made those throws, they probably beat that team. Now, if Jimmy G's healthy, I think the Niners probably run away with that game. But these are things that they can fix. And they will fix him. They'll be better than they were yesterday. But my point is that was rock bottom for Tua, right? That was the worst possible matchup for them,

and he played as bad as he could. So I still think the dolphins are good. Oh, seven on third down, three and eight total yards, and just 1926 time of possession. Say word and still down six with six minutes to go and driving. Exactly. The Gassiki almost catch that would have kept a drive going deep into San Francisco territory.

And that's how good they are. That's how good they are offensively is like they can be out of it. And, you know, if you got a Brock Purdy in there and you're not able to pull away, you're going to be looking over your shoulder the whole damn game. And, you know, Tua did hit that deep ball where they had Tyreek open in the middle of field. And that made the game really interesting. And the fourth and two, you could say, hey, I mean, I think you're crazy if you think that's a catch. Drake Greenlaw played amazing.

I mean, he was top down. He made some great plays on the sideline. Those two, that pass breakup and then the fumble were back-to-back plays. Listen, that's why the dolphins are still a top-sevent team to me. Because as bad as that quarterback played, you almost went on the road and beat the number one defense in the league. You know, 17 points, whatever it is, not going to be enough. Okay? After the first play of the game, you got 10 points the last 59 minutes.

That's not going to be enough, right? Okay, like it can't just be too big plays, but they'll figure out a way to get this right. I still don't think, I still think differently of their ceiling than other people, but this is not how bad they are offensively. The quarterback didn't play well. Brock Purdy played pretty well, man. Brock Purdy played damn good. Brock Purdy, relative to expectation, play great.

He fits some balls into tight windows. Not saying he's going to be the next coming of anything, but he can keep them competitive. Not intimidated. No. Poised. Irrelevant, according to the NFL draft, but not Sunday. Yeah. So, I mean, this is a big one, man.

And Jimmy G., I feel bad for him. We were going to get Jimmy G. And Brady next week. That's going to be Mr. Irrelevant and Tom Brady. Yep, yep. Now it's going to be Mr. Irrelevant in Brock Party. Ha. That's funny.

It's a Brady. Yeah, I got it. Yeah. No, but I mean, Purdy was fighting for a roster spot. Now he's going to have a real opportunity to lead a very quarterback-friendly. These were two quarterback-friendly offenses facing off against each other yesterday. And this kid, the fact that he outplayed an MVP candidate was pretty damn impressive. And a week ago, he was, everyone was making fun of him for turning the wrong way on a handoff.

He was the butt of a bunch of jokes. As they should have made fun of him, but it's a new week for Brock Purdy. And look at him go. And you get no time, man. You get no time. And they did pressure him. Miami pressured him. He got hit, I feel like more than...

Bradley Chubb had three hits on him in a row. Three straight plays, three hits on him. So I'm not trying to anoint this kid. I think he's good enough to keep them competitive. Anybody giving you any prognosis north of that doesn't... They're just talking out of their ass because we haven't seen this kid play enough.

I mean, hell, he could be more efficient than Jimmy. You know? And his birthday is December 27. So at some point, you're like probably six, seven years old. You're like, these aren't my birthday presents. This is just one extra Christmas present that I'm getting. That's good. No delineation.

So he's had a chip on his shoulder his entire life. That explains my brother Howie, whose birthday's right there as well. Yeah. Yeah. We talked about it earlier, Baker to the waiver wire. San Francisco is 24th in the order. So probably doesn't make it to him, Colts, and the Saints might pick Baker up earlier.

But there is a quarter, there is a guy out there who knows the Shanahan offense. Josh Johnson. Nope. Matt Ryan. RG3. RG3. That's interesting. RG3 will still be posting tour for MVP while he's on the, he'll be on the Niners roster.

Like, I only would trust Baker with a guy like Kyle Shadahan. I don't know another team that would, I don't understand why you would do that. spot, you just can't find a way to win these games. They've lost six games by six points or less. I mean, they've lost games in pretty tough fashion. So you have to feel good about them next year, but you know how that goes. It never necessarily translates and who's the quarterback. So it would be interesting to see what Ritter's got. I feel like he's kind of in that picket zone where you were like, yeah, he's probably not the guy,

We are running on fumes, but, you know, the light at the end of the tunnels there. What's funny is, you know, obviously there's such a buildup for selection Sunday and like this conference championship weekend and everything. And for a number of years, like, all of my coworkers would get to that point and they'd be like, great. Like, I'm so excited to have a Saturday off. And I've covered Army Navy, covered it like three years in a row. And it's like the first Saturday off for everybody else. And you're like still at a college football game. And Army Navy is totally worth it.

So I'm, but I'm glad not to be doing that this year. Like I am, I'm literally trying to plan day drinking Saturday and like go to brunch and just be like, this is what normal people do on weekends. I'm going to do the same thing at the Army Navy game. I'm going, Nicole. You are? Have you been? I'm going with a good buddy of mine. Jason Van Camp.

He was a former Army football player and he climbed Killy with me for my water boys deal. And we just remained friends and he was like one of these years. I got to get you up here. And I cleared the schedule. I cannot wait. Bo Allen is going to join me up there. It's going to be a lot of fun. What should I expect there besides a lot of running the football?

Yeah, well, that's, you know, and this is an audience that appreciates that and is not going to make fun of option football, which, by the way, like, works quite a bit. I would say definitely wander, and I'm sure you will in the tailgating scene. It's really cool. Lots of people have, you know, like things that represent, you know, which branch of the military they served in and, like, specifically, like, which, you know, like squadron and all of those types of things. you definitely go see the march on before the game make sure that you're in there early for all of that and like it is one of the coolest things I know everyone always says this

but when you wait at the end of the game as soon as it ends and there's the anticipation it's building and it's building and building because you want to sing second so you know you watch and you're listening and then the losers singing and they're doing their whole you know pomp and circumstance And then it just goes nuts for the winner. Like it is just such a cool, such a cool environment.

And so I love both the head coaches involved. So like you're going to want to essentially root for both sides. But it's, it's really cool. So I would just say wander, wander around, go visit with different people tailgating, talk to a bunch of different people. It is such a cool event. You are going to love it. I want to check the weather too because I feel like it's always raining during that game.

I always feel like it's always. I've been there for snow. snow before, which I think helps the option football. But yeah, it's fun. I'll send you, I wrote a big feature on Jeff Monkin a few years ago. So I will send you that so you can do, you know, some prep work. Okay. Really good coach.

We've got bowl game news. Any interesting bowl games that you saw just before I hit you on the playoff? Yeah, I actually, I think that a lot of the New Year 6 ones are going to be interesting. Everyone's obviously already, for gambling purposes, looking at that Alabama K-State game, because it's hard to imagine that a lot of these Alabama players are going to opt in and play in that game. So that one could be interesting. I think the Rose Bowl is going to be great. Penn State, Utah.

Like I think that both those teams are playing really well at the end of the season. Penn State's got all these young, literally like true freshmen who are just like huge impact players all over. The running backs, everyone. So they're really fun. We do have Notre Dame, South Carolina. That's going to be a fun one as well. And then oddly enough, I don't remember the last time I've seen this, Iowa and Kentucky are playing, again, for the second straight year.

I feel like they always try to avoid doing that with bowls, but that one's a weird one. So I don't know how that happened, but I would say those games and then, you know, Tulane USC is one of the weirder possible bowl matchups that you can get in the Cotton Bowl, and I just think it's going to be fun.

Plus, you've got a literal orange bowl with Clemson and Tennessee. So that part, I very much appreciate that, the commitment to the bit. To the bit. And we had like the Purple Palace at the Big 12 championship. that was a hell of a football game those two teams i mean you could see it dugging after the game

obviously uh emotional that just meant a lot to that team it meant a lot to both those teams and that's the draw of having a conference championship game it's like this you're really playing for something you know i think uh that was fun to watch so i mean like starting with tc u they're in um you know like does their physicality translate to this matchup because i i feel like they're a very team, right? But sometimes that doesn't translate schematically to your next opponent. Do you think it translates? It's going to be an interesting, a definitely interesting style matchup with Michigan. First of all, I just want to say, I am relieved and happy that TCU made the playoff and is the number three seed because there was like a 5% chance in my mind that that wasn't going to happen.

Like, I was pretty sure that that was going to be fine because for all the obvious reasons, right? Like, I mean, it again was still even weird that a team that didn't play got bumped up and is in the playoff in Ohio State. And we all know why that happened. And that seemed fair. But for people, including Nick Saban, who went on a politicking tour, even on Fox, which was hilarious during the Big Ten championship game. You know, I mean, like, they had no good wins. I just, I think so many people would have just been furious. at the entire college football playoff forever if they had bumped TCU and taken Alabama.

So anyway, I was just very relieved, very happy for them. I think that was part of the emotions yesterday, was not knowing. So I am interested in this. I was actually in the Michigan team room while they were watching the selection show earlier on Sunday. Yeah. So they, first of all, we're booing anytime Ohio State was mentioned or like the camera pan to Columbus, which was great. but they were excited about this matchup. And I think, A, because, you know,

I think that they think that they can win this game and they're already, you know, pretty serious favorites in this game, but also to avoid Ohio State in the rematch. I mean, if they were to meet, it would be in the national championship game. So I think they were celebrating that as well. But, you know, I mean, this is an unbalanced team in TCU. They are physical.

They're incredibly tough and difficult and they don't give up on these games. Max Duggan, in that drive to tie the game, Like, it says 11 players are out there for TCU, but one player wields the team down the field in that game and like tied the game up. And so I was remarkable. He better be in New York as a husband finalist. I think that that's probably going to happen. But, but yeah, like I'm super interested to see, you know, how Michigan handles him and that offense.

They've got a bunch of different weapons. Obviously, the passing game gets a lot of attention, but like they can run the ball too. defensively they've had their ups and downs like i'm interested to see that especially as michigan's continuing to evolve without blake quorum so i think it's going to be an interesting matchup and like it's a really really fascinating quarterback battle because like you could not have someone who's more experienced and has been in every possible situation imaginable max duggan and then jj's still new still learning still missing some of these big big pass plays um but they're still winning game. So like that part is going to be is going to be really interesting. So I like that matchup.

I really like the two semifines. I know that most years they're blowouts, but I like the storylines and like I find the matchups themselves compelling. So most years, yeah, blowouts. I forget what the numbers were. But like as far as one score games, there are very few in the first round since the inception of this thing. And I wonder if you think, you know, Georgia I think is a nine point favorite or Michigan's a nine point favorite over TCU. George is a touchdown favorite over Ohio State. Do you think we get a one score game in here? And which one is it? I don't know. I would love to say yes. I just think that both games have potentials for, you know, the favorite team to pull away. I would say for the odds for a closer game, probably Michigan TCU. I know like

they obviously just said that the spread in that game is opening. at nine. But like we're looking at these two teams. They're both really good second half teams. TCU has played a lot of close games. Michigan has played some games that are a little bit closer than comfortable just because, you know, they're comfortable with some of the field goal games that they've played and running the ball and not necessarily scoring, you know, in super quick drives. So, so it's possible. But yeah, I do think we have a potential for two blowouts. I know a lot of people are thinking that, you know, maybe. Georgia is getting, not maybe, Georgia's getting the more talented opponent, right?

And that's a little bit unfair as the one seed. But we just haven't seen the high end from Ohio State in a while. And I think at their high end, they're great. But, you know, is CJ Stroud going to run the ball? Is he going to seek out contact? Is he going to do things that he hasn't really done? Are they going to be healthy? Who's going to be playing for them?

And then what about the defense and all the holes that works? exposed against Michigan, right? So I think like Georgia, we've talked about it a lot. Like they do have a fun offense. They've added so many wrinkles and done so many different things in the past game and also their use of tight ends. But fundamentally, they're very comfortable being really physical, running the ball. Like that is also their DNA and that's how they built themselves up to their national power status. So, you know, a lot of the things that Michigan was able to do to open up different things in the past game, Georgia's going to be able to do too. So I'll probably talk myself into these games being closer by the time we get closer to the game. But first,

first blush, I would say I do think we could be looking at, you know, double digit victories. Man, you know, I'll do the same as you. I'll probably, it's, it's easy to talk yourself into a, you know, nine point underdog as the only college football game in a while that means a whole lot kicks off. So I will probably be right there with you. Okay, real quick, Dion Sanders, Colorado. I mean, We kind of, it was telegraphed, like we saw it coming, but it still just kind of was a surprise. And is he, is his brand, is the guy he is, like, powerful enough to have people hit the portal, to have, you know, to have the NFL, NIL money kick up a little bit, like to get some of that. Because just, just recruiting and winning at Colorado, like, the honest way is going to be really hard.

Do you think he's got what it takes, you know, that extra, you know, juice he has? to put them over the edge by the time he bounces for another for another job. I am so interested to see how this shakes out because I feel like the reactions are either like, oh my God, this is a disaster. It's never going to work or it's like this is brilliant. And I feel like it's somewhere in between because like I understand from Colorado's perspective, they haven't had anything positive or any juice like you just said in how long. I mean, it's been it's been forever.

So why not try something different? I think, I'm sure we all would say, you know, it was much more of a slam dunk if it was, you know, like a school in the southeast or somewhere where you just know that that's a sweet spot recruiting wise and where the talent is. But I mean, I do think he's going to get some guys. I mean, we didn't think, did you think he was going to get a five-star player to commit to him at Jackson State? No, but I do think it like it was more, I still think he's, I do think he's going to get some guys, right? Yeah, I don't think he's going to get like everybody, but he's going to, that will be a drive. Yeah. Like for Jackson State, I think it was really like, it was such a historic kind of thing to get this much attention at a SWAC school, like to the point where it kind of rub maybe Eddie Robinson Jr. the wrong way and that sort of thing. Like, it just felt like there was an X factor that brought Travis Hunter to Jackson State. And I'm not saying that great players don't go to these schools. But the question I have is Travis Hunter, who went there because of Dion, and because of that perfect storm and the timing of it all. and all that the vibe down there.

Like is he going to, is he going to transfer to a place at Colorado that he was never thinking about? Like that's the question. Like, or some of the guys that he really, you know, besides his sons, like are dudes going to hit the portal and head up there?

Yeah. I mean, we're probably going to have a really good sense of this, literally this week, because the transfer portal opens on Monday. So that's all the undergraduate transfers that can play right away without a penalty. So we'll get a better sense. But I think it's a really good question.

This is why, like, I'm not saying it's a slam dunk or anything, but, you know, do, do players, especially, you know, when you think about, like, the talent rich areas in the southeast, do they really want to go to Boulder, Colorado? Like, that is a culture shock. It's a tough place to recruit to. And I, you know, I wonder. I mean, we'll find out. I think, you know, DM's going to do all the things that we can expect of him. I mean, I think he has already posted, like, a lot of content around his farewell, Jackson State, and his first meeting, Colorado. and, you know, he's always going to have the camera, he's going to have that attention. The NIL question is an interesting one about, you know, what does that booster world look like for that band base? And what are they going to, you know, come behind? You know, I do think maybe Dion's able to help out with some, you know, more national brands and different things as well.

But these are all really important questions. And it's such a strange fit. I mean, if you had said to anyone 12 months ago, like, this is the Power 5 job that Deion Sanders, was going to get and that he was willing to take. I don't think anyone would have said that. So I'm really interested, really interested to see what it looks like, what it takes. It certainly makes Colorado way more interesting, which I think is the whole point here.

But yeah, I mean, he's a great salesman. Is he going to be able to sell five star, four star, three star, whoever's on going to Boulder? Yeah, we'll get a better sense this week. I think he's going to get some guys. We know he can coach. I mean, he really did maximize, you know, what. Jackson State was able to do on the field as well. So let's see. I mean, this could be very

interesting. It could be really good. It could be really bad. It could be somewhere in the middle, but it's going to be interesting. Sure will be interesting. Another reason to watch Pact 12 after dark. Interesting questions. We'll see it play out.
