Starting point is 00:00:00 The best flight for me, Kyle, is Seattle. I just love to be on a flight home with Pete Carroll. He's back there walking through the aisles, chewing gum, hard as shit. Hey, great play. Slaping the shit out of your thigh. Like, there's nothing better than on a flight home when the coach comes back. Leans on your section. Leans on your section.
Starting point is 00:00:17 And you look at your boy and you're like. Yeah. Oh, he's going to lead on our section. He's going to lean on our section. He's been looking at the All-22. He saw my play. He saw my play. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:00:26 You know, like, or the times where you're like. And he pretends like you didn't. didn't watch the film. Oh, yeah. Yeah. But he's like, hey, great job. Awesome. I think.
Starting point is 00:00:35 Welcome to the Green Light podcast. You'll catch a very special edition of Green Light today. Not only is it our Week 2 NFL recap, but it is live. We recorded this live on YouTube. Check it out if you want to see the full video. Two hours of great NFL insight from all Sunday's NFL week two games. We talked a little Thursday night football too with the takeaways were from the Eagles Vikings games.
Starting point is 00:01:02 But we also talked. plenty of two of us, Bill Belichick, the battle in Jacksonville between Trevor Lawrence and Patrick Mahomes, the Cowboys, are they good? We can't tell, we're not sure. Daniel Jones avoiding disaster and God's team, Russell-Wilsoning
Starting point is 00:01:15 on the end zone yet again. We hit our mentions, we hit our America's teams of the week. You all are going to love it. Enjoy the show. We'll catch you Wednesday with a couple special guests. Welcome, welcome, welcome.
Starting point is 00:01:57 We're live, baby. Bienvene. Invenito, America. To everybody. I mean, like, if you speak another language, if you're from another country, because I'm sure we're live and we're big in Guam. Anyang, haceo. Okay.
Starting point is 00:02:11 Hello. Okay. Bonjour. Jesus. You really know a lot of greeting. You're pretty good. Kyle could go anywhere in the world and say hello, but after that. Some place.
Starting point is 00:02:21 So anyways, we are live. Welcome everybody who's watching a live show for the people listening at home to the normal, like, you know, old school podcast. Like, get with the future. That ain't it. That ain't it. No, I would be watching the, I wouldn't be watching the live show.
Starting point is 00:02:41 I'd be doing the podcast. Like, I like cable TV. But this is bad. I don't know much to say in the open. Okay, your boys working on three hours sleep again, basically. I got to figure this shit out. This, this, the games, they're addicting. I'm like, I'm going to bed.
Starting point is 00:02:57 I'm going to watch the entire Green Bay Atlanta game. at 3.40 in the morning. That's tough sledding. Yeah, I had a lot of football. Yeah, I had an unexpected phone call that lasted 30 minutes at 315. Somebody was out having a good time, one of my old teammates. So, yeah, that lasted a while. But yeah, no, we've got a ton in store for you today.
Starting point is 00:03:19 We have America's teams coming up. We got our breakdowns. We got our mentions. And some live ad reads. Those are always fun. I mean, we did them last week. It's really well. It's like, yeah, just fuck it, we'll do it live.
Starting point is 00:03:34 I'm the Bill O'Reilly of Ad Reeds. That's not an endorsement, all right? Okay, here we go. America's teams. What a segue, Bill O'Reilly into America's teams. These are American's teams, okay? Hard-hitting journalism on a Monday morning here. Do you want me to lead off the American?
Starting point is 00:03:49 I would love for you to lead off the American teams. I am so excited to lead off this America's. Very good. Because it was a great weekend. There was a lot of entertaining stuff to report on. And when I think about America's teams, I think about somebody who's getting beat up a little bit, somebody who's downtrodden. Nobody is more downtrodden outside of Daniel Jones in the year. Physically, the first six quarters, they were down 60 to nothing.
Starting point is 00:04:14 That's unheard of in the NFL. And for Daniel Jones and the Giants to find themselves with their backs against the wall, kind of reminded me of the time when the Americans had their backs against the walls at Fort Tyco. The pencils? Which was the Which was in 1775 Chris And that was part of the Revolutionary War And the Americans had to
Starting point is 00:04:36 You know make a stand And make an offensive move finally Yes And after six quarters of zero points The Giants did just that Daniel Jones Giants tuffed it out Stuck it out
Starting point is 00:04:46 Is that what happened at Taekondoroa Number one America's team New York Giants I'm gonna check with Ryan Rosillo Number two another thing You know along the downtrod And beating up path is Everybody's got a team
Starting point is 00:04:57 that just kind of sucks. You know what I mean? They like. They really love. Yep. And it drives them crazy. Uh-huh. It ruins a lot of their days.
Starting point is 00:05:04 Uh-huh. For me, it's the Chicago Bears. Yeah. They're my number two, the Chicago Bears are my number two America's team. It just, it's so much fun being a Bears fan because when they win,
Starting point is 00:05:15 it's the best day ever. When they lose, it's just another day. I could go for being a Bears fan, man, Kyle, you just, you can check out a while. It's romantic. I'm a Knicks fan.
Starting point is 00:05:23 It kind of feels like that. And we're going to talk more about Chicago. I'm just teasing. Yeah, and we're not going to talk more about the Giants. Okay, great. Number three, CBS Sports Broadcast Team, league-wide. Yeah. Obviously, CBS does the best job in the business,
Starting point is 00:05:41 putting forth the best voices and sets of eyes in the booths across the NFL. But this past Sunday, Iron Eagle, some amazing calls. Yeah, he's great. He's great. You know who else I want to shout out? Matt Ryan. Matt Ryan, great job. He sounded great.
Starting point is 00:05:55 He was great. I hadn't really listening. He's really good at this. Yeah, he's great. Okay. But Iron Eagle, Travis Kelsey scores. Obviously big in the news, Taylor Swift, Travis Kelsey, allegedly hanging out. I haven't texted my boy to confirm, but I'm going to leave him along.
Starting point is 00:06:09 Yeah, yeah. Everybody's asking him. So he finds, Mahomes finds Kelsey who found a blank space in the end. Is that what he's a, yeah? Which is a tip of the captain, Taylor Swift. Also, you've got Cisco, the safety for the Jackson. Jaguars. Fisco, safety for the Jaguars.
Starting point is 00:06:28 He caught it, did a little dance. Ian Eagle said, he's dancing to the thong song. Yeah, we got a thong song on the field. I enjoyed that. You know, I'm like a simple-minded guy. Give me some low-hanging fruit joke and I'm gonna laugh. Number four, stealth jet search party, is what I have written. There's an F-35.
Starting point is 00:06:47 Military vehicle. It's like a $2 billion vehicle. It's something great. Self-jet, fifth generation fighter. Mm-hmm. Top gun stuff. Pilot ejected over South Carolina. Okay.
Starting point is 00:07:01 Now the government has asked for the help of civilian in searching for this stealth aircraft, which I would imagine. It's hard to find. It's really hard to find. But you have to ask, like, the men and women of South Carolina. Like, you know, south of Appalachia. Darius Rucker out there with a bunch of dogs.
Starting point is 00:07:21 They got to take a break from watching college football. I think they got a hit. Yeah. Those are good, Kyle. You got any more? Number five, the Atlanta Falcons. Fuck! Number five, the Atlanta Falcons.
Starting point is 00:07:31 I just had to get them in here. Number one, I love Arthur Smith. I love the run game. I love the mustache. And Bejohn Robinson is just so much fun to watch. And I feel like Atlanta's a city that rallies behind their sports teams when they're good. Oh, big time. And the Falcons are, they're well on their way to being in a better place than they have been.
Starting point is 00:07:54 That place was loud. Atlanta Falcon. Okay, that's good. Party party. And you know what? He went for it five times on fourth down. He got it three times. You mentioned Ryan Rossillo earlier?
Starting point is 00:08:05 Sticellular fortitude. Yeah, it is testicular fortitude. Huge, you know, Stan Marsh balls there, wheelbarrow time for Arthur Smith. But you mentioned Ryan Rissilo. I kind of felt like last night and the last two Sundays,
Starting point is 00:08:20 I was Ryan Rissillo myself because I had like no family. I was sleeping at work and there were eight TVs. And I was like, it's not bad, honestly. You were Hanson. You were red zoning it. No, yeah, I was Rosilloing.
Starting point is 00:08:32 I was Hansening. Hey, the first America's team for me, I just wanted to get this out in the beginning of the show. I know that it's a Sarah J game, but commanders. Kyle, you didn't listen to the podcast last week. We tiered the three games. The most watchable games was one adult film actor.
Starting point is 00:08:50 I was going to say. I thought that name rings a bell. The mid-tier. Okay. Yeah, that name's ringing bells. It does. She's been in the business. She's like Dick,
Starting point is 00:09:03 Dick Lebo or something. He was in the business. Well, okay. So anyways, I know that Denver reads back there, like it's a live show. Oh, Syracobo, Sarah Jacob.
Starting point is 00:09:15 Okay. So anyways, and I wouldn't know because Yonkin has this sign-in thing, I hear, where you've got to give your ID and stuff to get on a lot. Macon told us about it.
Starting point is 00:09:25 Megan told us about that. Fucking sicko. But my first American team is Denver Broncos, only because I just wanted to talk about this, Reed, right off the top of the show. I don't think people should wait until later in the show
Starting point is 00:09:38 to hear what happened yesterday. So, you know, top left TV, classic 4 PM, like it's in my periphery, and I'm hearing Reed, who's a lifelong God's fan,
Starting point is 00:09:49 Denver Broncos fan, like, it's out of South Park. And he's over there, you know, muttering, shit and I'm like at first they're going to win this game and I look up and they're losing and the whole thing and he's like I hope you didn't lie bet us right and I didn't say shit the first
Starting point is 00:10:04 half because I knew the wheels were going to come off he knows yeah he has a six cents he sees dead people he's out there you know they got a chance with like 40 seconds to go yeah after I guess maybe it was a field goal or something who was watching that game really other than read and uh they they have the sloppiest fucking three plays to get to midfield and I go read we're going to have a Hail Mary buddy I love Hail Mary's my favorite thing in football and usually
Starting point is 00:10:33 they don't spend enough time on them in the replays like I want I want to really so anyways I'll be angry and you had said you were like they're going to get the Hail Mary and Russ is going to throw a pick on the two point conversion that's exactly how it's going to end for Russ breaks the pocket and before he does that I get my phone out
Starting point is 00:10:50 and I'm like I need to throw this on Reed. Like, you just never know. I have a killing. And when I say Russ, those the ugliest Hail Mary I've ever seen. The thing was like a punt.
Starting point is 00:11:01 Well, honestly, it was the prettiest one. Yeah. Because five guys tried to catch the punt. And, you know, they always say knocked the ball down. And you don't want to be that guy in the meeting room who didn't knock the ball down.
Starting point is 00:11:12 Guy ends up with the ball. Reed's running around the fucking studio like a chicken with his head cut off. I mean, he's going nuts. So there's a 30-second period between the touchdown and the, in the two-point conversion and I'm like let's let the film run and I'm asking me what do you think they should run the whole thing he's hands on knees in front of the TV like you know like an old dad
Starting point is 00:11:32 it was too stressful and I'm his son like go dad and I'm watching russe line up and shotgun and it's just like flashbacks to the Seattle and Super Bowl and it's like what are we why are we throwing the ball what are we doing he's sitting there and I'm hoping things go well and and all of a sudden the screen cuts to playing because YouTube TV was signed into a on our account from somewhere else. So right before the two-point conversion, Reed is screaming at the TV, what happened?
Starting point is 00:12:01 What happened? You know, he honestly reminded me of what's in the box? Yeah. You know, like, it was like, what's in the box? Like, he's trying to change the channels and the whole thing to get to it. That's so helpless.
Starting point is 00:12:10 That's, it sucked. It was terrible. And the game turns on after about 10 seconds and you see both coaches walking out, Ron Rivera looking, you know, excited the whole thing. And you just see 35, 33. across the bottom and I'm just like what happened. So that's the way Reed watched
Starting point is 00:12:27 the Hail Mary yesterday. And we found out who we found out the culprit. It was Nate signing in from the hospital which we want to say congratulations Nate. Big congrats to Nate. Beautiful baby girl. Welcome to the dad's club. Yep. And that would leave me to my next
Starting point is 00:12:42 America's team. Why I waited till third? I don't know. But second, I'll go the Fax family. So congratulations to Nate and Mariah. He's going to be a great dad. So he's excused today. He had a baby on Saturday, and he was doing a live stream on Sunday. I was like, man, it's the hardest working man in sports.
Starting point is 00:13:01 Impressive. How he got the past. He must have just been chewing Mariah's ear in the delivery room, like asking her a million questions. It has to be said. Do you ever see the Mr. Beast episode? Do you test boundaries in your first few weeks? Like, what am I able to get on that?
Starting point is 00:13:22 Okay, I'll give you another America's team. Colorado State. Now, bear with me here because they played into this thing perfectly. And for a lot of America, who hates Dion for a bunch of reasons that I'm not sure, Colorado State trying to injure all his players is probably a de facto America's team. For a lot of people, they were like, yeah, we want more of that. But Norville said what he said. And, you know, like, I went to Dirty Nellies to watch this game.
Starting point is 00:13:50 I was all excited, met my buddies. By halftime, I look up and it's 11.45. What time was it? And I'm like, guys, I got to go. I don't live in Brentwood. I got to get the fuck home and get some sleep. So I head out, I leave. I'm on the couch up there in the boys' room,
Starting point is 00:14:06 watching on my laptop, and I fall asleep in the third quarter. My eyes are closing, and I'm thinking, I just want to see the handshake. That's all I care about. And a great football game. But, you know, a little preview to fly on the wall. I kind of want to know what was said after the game. That's the biggest question for me,
Starting point is 00:14:25 because obviously it was cordial. Like, Norville came up, shook Dion's hand, said something. I think he said something like, that's not it. I don't know if he said, I didn't mean to disrespect your mother. That's not what I, because, of course, he said my mom taught me, you know, to blah, blah, blah. And Dion took that the way, I guess I might have taken it.
Starting point is 00:14:44 Like, honestly. But here's where Dion's brilliant, and it hit me after the game. When after, and he was perfect. at the podium. And he was like, hey, I'm rooting for that dude. I'm never going to root against another dude in this business. And the whole thing. And you felt like they probably said something at midfield that squashed the thing. But I think Dion's smart because, number one, he puts it in the past. He comes across really classy. And I thought it was the perfect calculation for his team, even though they played sloppy on a letdown week with USC and Oregon ahead of them, it's not
Starting point is 00:15:21 sustainable to create bulletin board material every week, but when it finds them, especially in a letdown kind of situation, I thought that was brilliant. So, you know, like good football team, they got punched in the mouth a little bit. Colorado State has some really good receivers and those crossers. We're killing them. I haven't been this into a college football team in a while. And that just speaks to the effect that this is having on the college football landscape because they're not that good. They're good. I don't know what they come out of the next two weeks as. It makes me wonder which personality from the football universe would be able to have not quite the same, but a similar impact.
Starting point is 00:16:00 Eddie. Yeah, see, I mean, these things are. It's got to be, it's got to be a former player. It's got to be somebody really. And, you know, somebody asked me, does Dion know ball like that? Well, obviously he knows ball. But, you know, I think some people don't, they underestimate how smart a player that plays corner in the NFL is.
Starting point is 00:16:18 Right. I mean, like, the passing game has changed since he's been in a league, but this guy knows the back end. He knows, you know, route trees. He knows passing concepts. That's the game today. So, you know, you get a guy like that. Like, if you threw, you gave me six months and had me go coach Virginia or something,
Starting point is 00:16:34 I would fail miserably. He knows special teams, too. He knows everything. So, you know, he's seeing the game from, from back to front. And so I do think he knows. And he's also the elite, the most elite competitor that we, one of the most elite competitors we've seen in the NFL. And I love it.
Starting point is 00:16:49 And his kids are a direct reflection about raise them. And then the guys that are playing with his kids are going to act like his kids. Dion Sanders Jr. A bunch of competitors. Dion Sanders Jr. trying to climb the power rankings, which I think is a really smart decision. Like I might start putting the power rankings up on the fridge in the morning to kind of incentivize the kids. But it's not a bit, is it? It's not a bit, is it?
Starting point is 00:17:11 No. And Dion Sanders Jr., Danny Canell said, you can't rush the field after a win like that. Of course he said that. My colleague, Danny Cannell. Yeah, and Dion Sanders Jr. was like, you're a whole ho. I was like, they're just out here saying whatever they want. Well, history goes back to Danny Cannell throwing an interception to Dion Sanders. Game ending.
Starting point is 00:17:34 Game ending. It was a game ending. And I think it was the last game ever started. Unfortunately, it was the last game that Danny started. And I love Danny. He's a great guy. A little bad blood. I spent a lot of time with Danny.
Starting point is 00:17:43 But, you know. Me and Danny had our moments. We're cool, though. These things take time. And I want to add to the list, the women of the Golden Bachelor. Do you even know about this show? Oh, that's the old guy that looks young. The old guy that looks young and the older ladies that look their age.
Starting point is 00:17:58 He's been drinking his son's blood, like that one billion. I don't know what he's doing, but he looks great. You know that one guy? He's a vampire. He looks great. Okay, Golden Bachelor. When the commercial came up, my kids are at the age where they're cutely aware of death, and they're also watching the commercials.
Starting point is 00:18:15 And, you know, Whalen turns to me, and he's like, So when the show ends, they just die. And I'm like, you can't say that. How old are these people? They're like 60, 70. So anyways, the women of the Golden Bachelor, I think it's great that we've got at the point that we were like, do that show but older.
Starting point is 00:18:32 Let's do that show but older. I like it. We should just make an older version of every show. Well, I was thinking like an old version of Survivor, an old version of American Ninja Warriors, the whole thing. You know? Yes. It would be great.
Starting point is 00:18:46 All right. Football, old. I'll give you two America's teams, both from the NFC South. I agree with you on the Falcons. And the Bucks, how about the Bucks? Sorry, we'll talk about the Bucks in a little bit. Okay, so we're going to get into these marquee games in a moment. Read, do I have an ad read?
Starting point is 00:19:04 I've been thinking about ad reads all day. We want to say how to cash out. Oh, Cash App. Thanks to Cash App for sponsoring this podcast with multiple tools for saving, spending, and sending. Cash App is an all in one way. to stay in control of your money. But what happens when life takes an unexpected turn and you find yourself losing control?
Starting point is 00:19:26 Like the bears. I have a quick story for you. The other day I get home from work and the house has no internet. Oh, that story's repeatable. I'm trying to finish some prep work for work because the show's in the morning and I can't connect to the Wi-Fi. Can't watch any football. I could pretend like I watch the games like a lot of people probably do, but I care about
Starting point is 00:19:47 my work. So a pretty bad day. We got it fixed. The internet's back. Well, no, it's not back. Reed. You wrote this ad before the internet was back. But that is losing control. And it happens. Bottom line is, I can't control the internet or the water going out this summer. And you can't control Justin Fields holding the ball. But what I can't control is my money. A great way to stay in control of your life and to stay in control of your finances is cash app. So down the down. download cash app in the app store or in Google Play to see why it's the number one finance app in the US app store. That's how I'm going to read ad reads this year.
Starting point is 00:20:28 They're going to be loud when it's caps. If Reed writes caps, I'm going to put on my, uh, my ESPN guy voice out of the commercial. You know, the reads, uh, Modello, you know, yeah. And in, in addition to shouting out cash out, we want to shout out everybody in the chat. We're live right now on YouTube. Shout out. Yeah, I want to shout you all out.
Starting point is 00:20:49 That's good, Reed. We're so used to hanging out in here on Mondays and then releasing it to you guys in the afternoon. But we are with you guys. We're with you. Imagine we're sitting with you. We've got some questions already. We've got some questions already that'll circle back in the marquee games.
Starting point is 00:21:04 By the way. You want to know Mac and whatever, what's going on? By the way, Kyle, if you can improve and not improve and not breathing into the mic, Justin Fields can improve. I actually have a cold right now, my friend on scored last night. We were playing a Rocket League. He goes, I didn't know I was playing with Darth Vader. And I'm sitting there like, you know, that's fucked up. I didn't say all that. I think you do a great job. Hey, I should mention Philly. I mean, I got kind of reprimanded by a Chiefs fan
Starting point is 00:21:31 that was like, we're not talking about the Chiefs this week. Actually, it wasn't the Chiefs was the Lions. They wanted to talk about it. I'm like, bro, it's fucking Monday. That happened 18 years ago. I mean, like, do you remember that Thursday night game, Philly? And the worst beat of all time for those of you that uh not the worst beat of all time but it would have felt like it for those of you that took the eagles plus your minus six or minus six and a half they had that thing covered and then the last drive and this is making one thursday night time machine this way i mean the gate the eagles are in control of the game the second half these guys minnesota drives down the field fumbles the ball they overturn it and and and and kirk keeps the
Starting point is 00:22:10 ball they go in and and score luckily i bought the four but that was a stressful night for birds fans. It was closer than than you'd like it to be. You have obviously injuries on the back end that you've got to get sorted out. People are talking about Buda Baker. I think that's a good thing they're talking about Buda Baker. I think Howie can make it happen. I know the cap situation is weird, but
Starting point is 00:22:28 at least you have a guy. Somebody on Twitter was like, if we only had a guy that could make cap face if you're out of thin air, then they do. And Howie Roseman. So they got to get some things short up defensively, but the big guys up front, the little, the young big guys,
Starting point is 00:22:44 you know, Jordan Davis, dominant, you know, Jalen Carter. They're only going to get better. They're only going to get better. And the holes that DeAndre Swift ran through, my fridge talk was like 45% hole. It was hole-centric. I mean, the holes that this guy was running through were incredible. Miles Sanders is down there in Carolina tonight on Monday football. Like, this isn't like the holes that I'm used to.
Starting point is 00:23:07 And the O line for the Eagles is a fucking weapon. They did hit their shots. We talked about hitting their shots. They hit the shots. And AJ Brown had a frustrating day. You saw on the sideline, like he's pissed off. But I love the dynamic of the Eagles. Jalen Hertz is, he doesn't blink.
Starting point is 00:23:25 He's a leader. He's standing right there. He's like, AJ, calm the fuck down, man. We're going to be all right. And then next year he's like, hey, I'm young. I can relate. And maybe he can, but they're like, just, hey, we got this. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:35 There's enough dudes in that locker room. A couple grownups in that locker room. That can work it out. And AJ Brown, you know, tapping his chest in the way off the field. Like, my bad, you know. And a frustrating game for him because he almost had a cup frustrating night for my fantasy team. He almost had a couple big plays that were called back, that sort of thing. So, and I want to finish with this.
Starting point is 00:23:54 The Andre Swift is the coolest looking angle of all time. That fucking number zero, that biser doesn't hurt that you're running through holes big enough to drive a dots and through. Like when you're playing Madden franchising, you create your own player. Oh, it's incredible. It just looks out of place in that regard. He looked great. The high whites, the whole thing. He aced the test.
Starting point is 00:24:13 when it came to fashion on Thursday night. But Kirk, definitely playing not maybe for a trade, but if I'm the Jets and I watch Thursday night, and I know that people are like, oh, a week ago I had like somebody, we posted the Sam Darnold social and we'll be back to him or not Sam Darnold. Geez, I'm mixing up Jets quarterback, Zach Wilson.
Starting point is 00:24:36 And maybe it might be better if it was Sam Darnold. And I had a couple Jets fans like, you guys are just hating on Zach Wilson. And I'm like, bro, quite the odd. I would love to root for Zach Wilson. That would be fun to watch that has mobility and has a rocket arm. But it just doesn't all add up. I was sitting there with Nolan yesterday watching the games.
Starting point is 00:24:52 I was screaming for Zach Wilson. It didn't hurt that I had, you know, the under. After a while, I stopped screaming for him. The headband, the boyish face. But I had the, the Jets plus eight and all this stuff. He kind of looks like Haley Van Liff. Did you realize that? I don't know who that is, but I would assume yes.
Starting point is 00:25:07 Because he does look like almost a pubescent. The Louisville, uh, the Louisville. now LSU basketball player. Who's a pretty gal, but she also kind of looks like a cute little young boy. Yeah, well, she looks like. No, Zach Wilson looks like Haley Van Litt. Okay, it hit me yesterday.
Starting point is 00:25:25 But anyways, uh, baller, huh? Yeah, yeah, she's a baller. She should play quarterback. He's a baller, huh? Yeah. So, I mean, like, you know, if you're one of these quarter, if you're the, if you're the Jets and you see that Sunday
Starting point is 00:25:39 and you watch Kirk play Thursday, like the thought has to be crossing. mind. Anyways. Looks confident. I hate making all these trades happen because I'm a player and I want I want this team to cash in on the hard work they put in and defense and the whole thing. But you know, we'll get to the Jets. Okay. The biggest game of the day, at least, you know, when it comes to two teams that are kind of contenders, we just saw the divisional match up less than, you know, nine months ago. And two teams that I thought quite frankly were going to light up the scoreboard a little bit more.
Starting point is 00:26:12 even with the Chiefs offensive issues. The Jags and the Chiefs down in Jacksonville, we talked about that needing to be a situation where the Jags kind of jump them at home a la the Patriots game in 18. But it was quite the opposite. It was a sloppy game. And for much of it,
Starting point is 00:26:31 it was like the Chiefs were trying to give it away and the Jags wouldn't take it. You know, here's the biggest thing with the Chiefs, Kyle, and I'm curious because you played with them. They strike me as a program, where you have to be well coached you have to know what the objective is you have to be able to execute and the new guys are not doing that like guys that they haven't depended on before whether it's the watson fumble or tony with the three drops week one putting the ball on the ground and
Starting point is 00:26:58 the thing is yesterday the best little sequence they had for a while was getting them getting the balled tony three times him breaking tackles the whole thing um but the tackles especially and he almost made us forget about last week he almost did and then he puts the ball in the ground the tackles, especially Taylor, they actually pulled him after two penalties backed up. You know, league office was probably like, Andy, we're going to fucking get this guy. And Andy was like, they're going to get you. And he was like, I got it. And then it was like, JJ Watt put out a monologue on Instagram and went on NFL today and
Starting point is 00:27:27 talking about it. I was like these people listen to guys like JJ Watt. Yeah. When they speak up and provide films. I don't think I've seen a tackle get pulled like that who was like one of your starting to play around. No, Andy. penalties for Joanne Taylor, benched and returned.
Starting point is 00:27:42 And I know Andy is like, get him out of it. For sure. I mean, and they pulled him out for like a player too. Paul starts, two of them. He lined up illegally, as you alluded to back-to-back holds. So that's like three categories of penalties. That's like, let's hit the reset. Kyle, he takes four points off the board after the Kelsey conversion where finally you're like,
Starting point is 00:27:59 okay, third and 15, here's that Kelsey extended play where he finds a spot in the zone. They convert and then they have to back up and punt. And at 14-9, they could put the game away, but he has another penalty in the red zone. So they have to sweat through a possession at 17-9. Joe also had a penalty, but that's not really him. That's uncharacterious. You know, Richie James Muff the Punt. Everybody remembers the Richie James show last year when they played Seattle when he was in New York.
Starting point is 00:28:27 And then, you know, I mentioned the Watson fumble. You know, like this guy is one of the new cast of characters. He might have been there a second, but he's a guy they got to depend on. and they're not and they couldn't depend on those guys they couldn't get kelsey going you know they were chipping him off the line the guys were doing a good job in man when he was split out um and even before the half when the chief started a nice run offensively because in in the middle eight you know they were rolling um they overcame a sack and a legal illegal formation and a fourth fourth and two so this isn't who they are and uh you know they they stabilized things they got out of the half they they deaden them with
Starting point is 00:29:06 Pacheco just like the Super Bowl got under control and you know Mahomes he almost threw two he threw one to Cisco but the throw to Watson is why you know that's why it's 40 yards off his he's just standing there flat-footed Jedi casual and then you know the third down where he mixes up Lloyd and Walker we talked about that you talked about that and Ion eagle on the call and the third and six with the game on the line proving Doug Wright for going for it on fourth and 12 and I didn't like to call initially, but he turned out to be right. They never got the ball back. So those are the issues.
Starting point is 00:29:41 From a more macro view, I was listening to Pat talk after the game and his presser and Andy, and I rarely watch pressors. But I was really interested to hear this team talk after leadership talk after the really uncharacteristic game yesterday. So many penalties, so many miscues, as you alluded to. But there were some positives. I mean, Pat targeted 12 guys. I think he had 11 different pass catchers.
Starting point is 00:30:02 He's getting more comfortable with these young guys. And I figured out. You were asking me earlier what goes into being prepared and the pressure of playing in this offense. And I think it's having a young, having a, not a young quarterback. He's a seventh year now. Having a quarterback that can process at the rate that Patrick can process at and having a quarterback that matches his physical tools with that, you better have your head around. You better be in the right spot because if you're not there, he will be hitting that spot and nobody's going to be there to catch it. And as for the offensive gripes that I have currently, you've got Joe Tunney.
Starting point is 00:30:35 you've got creed humphrey you've got tray smith you have three potential three pro bowlers potential all pro caliber players find a way to run the ball between the tackles game um Patrick was talking about how it was tough to move the ball down the field and be patient because of the zone schemes that they were playing and the coverage that they were running and you and i both know Patrick wants to hit home run yeah um so if you're making him play and you're taking Travis away pre-snap and post snap yeah um it's going to be tough sledding but I love seeing Chris Jones back in the game
Starting point is 00:31:06 in the conditions that they played in. It was so freaking hot down there and humid. Chris Jones goes out, has a sack and a half, a game breaking sack at the end. Absolutely crumpled Trevor Lawrence. You said it. It's hot out there and he comes right. All these guys that hold out.
Starting point is 00:31:21 Some people aren't the same as others. Yeah, exactly. One of those. Well, usually it's the guys that are holding out. They're holding out because they're not the same as others. And then people are like, these guys are all great when they get off their holdouts. Like, do that if you're like darn L Savage.
Starting point is 00:31:33 I'm just throwing the name out there. Sorry, I just, the, the, the, the, the, the, the Bejan Robinson play is stuck in my head. But Chris Jones, on an individual level, five pressures on third down, one on fourth down, and collectively last week, 13 pressures as a team, 24 this week as a team. And you can see the compounding effect. You know, they rushed him outside. I love that. So cool.
Starting point is 00:31:55 You know, in first, the first third down, he absolutely wrecked it. And Karloftus and Dana, who I actually like on third down. on third down. I mean, he gets gashed a little bit in the run game, but him and Carlop just popping off having the speed inside. I kind of like that inverted look. He wrecked another third and 11 when he got down on Norwell, and then the fourth and five. He tipped the ball on a third down, and then the final third down, he brings it. So there wasn't a third down that he didn't wreck. There wasn't a money down that he didn't wreck, and he immediately reinforces his value, even though he didn't get the deal. on the other side of things,
Starting point is 00:32:30 Trevor Lawrence is a little bit off. I mean, you know, and the receivers, part of it is the receivers. And this could easily be a game in the red zone where they get down there a bunch and they don't come away with much that they could win this game. And the red zone?
Starting point is 00:32:42 I think one for four or something. I mean, I don't know. You can't give away points like that. You can't donate points to the chief, let alone anybody that's... You can't donate points to the chiefs, especially when they're wounded. And all these plays were like on the,
Starting point is 00:32:55 you know, at the back of the end zone. And it was just guys running. out of space and something like Jay Jones should probably be dragging his feet on one of them, but you get Ridley into the goalposts. You get Jay Jones on another one where they're just running out of out of room. And I thought some of the drops from Ridley weren't great. But even the screen game was a little tough early to get going. It's tougher than it should be because they were just missing the easy stuff. And I thought this was interesting. We wondered who would match up on Calvin Ridley. It was Sneed. He did a really good job. From the first target, he was all over
Starting point is 00:33:28 him and they were drawing back and forth. But Spags talked about this last week. He said, I have two guys in McDuffie and Sneed that I can play inside and out. And that's such a weapon. And McDuffie played inside last week and Sneed played inside this week. It's like a matchup dependent thing.
Starting point is 00:33:41 And I think it's a huge weapon for that defense. As you know Spags, when he gets a toy that he enjoys playing with, he likes to use different ways. Chris Jones, it's his favorite toy, obviously, inside and out. And that can be a key determining factor in where and what He just used this toy in a six technique. So if he gets legurious need out and lets him get in a rhythm, like a good pass rusher, you're getting a rhythm and coverage as well,
Starting point is 00:34:05 I would imagine, get a feel for the game. Then he can play his game. He's so ranging, ready to make turnovers. He's a great tackler in the run. Yeah, no question. So I think for the Chiefs, as you said, it's going to be a, like, kind of figure it out on the fly thing. And if anybody...
Starting point is 00:34:22 Big defensive day, though. And that's what you want to see. is like, hey, the defense with Chris Jonesback looks like, and they usually peak late in the season. I think they've looked good so far the first two weeks. First week, all things considered. And let's get to a game with no defense at all. And something that I just thought about
Starting point is 00:34:42 that I haven't even written down or anything is the last few years we've had concerns with Pat's mobility. He finished the season, not healthy. He had a toe. one point. He's healthy right now. He can move. The scramble drill is green light. Yeah, he looks good, man. He looks good. I mean, you know, he's working through a lot. The tackles aren't helping him. It's helpful to have a huge chiefs crowd there. That was probably like 30% chiefs fans in Jacksonville. Yeah, those I was wrong about that. Yeah. I was worried about him,
Starting point is 00:35:16 man. You know, like I was, I was, you know, because Donovan Smith has not always been, I mean, He's been a guy that's given up some pressures, and he's been okay over there, but I did not see Taylor having... The sack where 45 ran the long way. I mean, he ran the entirety of the hump. He ran the long way. And for those of you at home,
Starting point is 00:35:37 that's like not a win or a loss for your player. So speaking of tackles, Seattle don't have none, okay? And they're going to Detroit, and they're playing everybody's favorite team, and they've had 10 days rest, and they laid an egg. So like this is like juxtapose that with the start they got off to last year, jumping Denver at home.
Starting point is 00:35:57 Like can you be that team that's hungry that, you know, like a year ago, nobody expected you to be any good? Like can you play with the target on your back? They couldn't in week one. But they go to Detroit, which is a tough, sneaky, tough place to play. That's a really tough. And, you know, Gino was lights out, completed passes to nine receivers, 10 completions between the tight ends for 148,
Starting point is 00:36:19 to just a completion percentage of 89%, 10 explosives, like they were back to being them, and they did it with the backup tackles, and they did fine. Like, they were fine. I got to really look a little closer, but... That's no walk in the park. No.
Starting point is 00:36:34 And that's putting it lightly for even a good tackle in the NFL. If you're a guy that's trying to earn your way, which they are, tackle and Seattle, Aidan Hutchinson. He's a beast. He's a beast. And so they came out there and they knew they had challenges. the other edge guy's good Harris. And so like, if you had told me
Starting point is 00:36:52 Wulin was going to go out in the first half and they'd have to ride with the corner who kind of got picked on last year and then that that corner would win the game basically for them, I'd have said you were crazy. Cray Brown deserves a tip of the cap. In Witherspoon, first big play of his career, PBU on a fourth down play in the second quarter.
Starting point is 00:37:11 Nuo, I want to shout him out as well, forced to fumble and had one big rush that usually gets lost in the shuffle, but I don't want to lose it. nuosu with a great rush that kind of causes that pick six i don't know if golf's going to go there with the ball anyways but he sees number 10 and he won clean on the edge so i want to shout him out on the lion's side of things you know uh stick to your guns and i'll explain what i mean three turnovers that's not good enough they're not good enough to overcome that that's not a truant
Starting point is 00:37:42 football well as good as they are they're not that team that can overcome that stuff and and last year they were as they were the best in the league and not giving the ball away. So that's not who they are. I can deal with the fourth downs. In fact, you almost hit one. There's an incidental contact deal that you might have thought you could have gotten a flag on. But I can't deal with the pick six. I can't deal with Montgomery out of the half when you seize momentum. And Seattle's giving you six points with Jason Myers. But here's where they really have to stick the guns, Kyle. And like we can look back at this sequence and pick it apart. And I don't like second guessing Dan Campbell, but this isn't him, in my opinion.
Starting point is 00:38:18 You're settling for a field goal at the end of the game and going to overtime. 144 at midfield. They got multiple timeouts. They're in the high red with like a minute. I got to look back at the times. I could be butchering this. But either way, you have plenty of time to take shots at the end zone and try to win that game in regulation. They took 116 to burn three plays.
Starting point is 00:38:40 And Dan said, hey, I'm worried about the two timeouts that Seattle had. And that's why I played that slow because you don't want to end up in a situation like, you know, too much time. Like Jordan Love almost won that game at the end of the game. But to that, I would say you got a kicker that's left like nine points on the field. And Seattle, you make the point they scored 24 in the second half. So if they win the toss, you're not getting the ball back.
Starting point is 00:39:05 And that turned out to be what was true. And so like if you're running flea flickers, you're going for it on fourth and six, but you play conservative here. Flea flicker was sweet. I know. I like it. They don't work better than that. So here's my point is like, keep being that team.
Starting point is 00:39:18 Yeah. Because that's what got you here. Be the team that's punching up every week. You can't play scary. Defensively and offensively, go out there and swing up at these guys. Yeah. And here's the thing. Josh Allen, when I went to watch your game in Kansas City,
Starting point is 00:39:34 and it was that shootout that went to overtime. The overtime room, the overtime rules sucks. Slim Reaper game. Yeah, Slim Reaper game. And this is like, this is like, this is like, like a mini Kansas City Buffalo. These teams light it up. So people feel robbed of another possession for sure,
Starting point is 00:39:50 but it's not like Josh Allen where you're like, hey, I deserve without a shout over the doubt, a shot at winning this game. Like the Lions didn't take their shot at winning this game, and it costed them. So also, retired the ski mask. We started that in Philly. Brutal.
Starting point is 00:40:06 I just love seeing the Seahawks in their locker room with the blue ski mask on. Yeah. Yeah, that's fun. You know what? The Seahawks are so off-colored in terms of their like uniform scheme that the blue almost looks like it matched. Yeah, there's plenty of blues in there. I was like, this is great. And that's the thing. When you roll something like that out, you got to be ready to have that back in your face. I just, I just, I just, Gino's got the it factor, bro. I don't know what it is, but he's just a baller.
Starting point is 00:40:31 Yeah, he's one of those guys that'll be 50 years old playing in a men's football league, and he will be doing the best out of all of his counterparts. And he tried to get in that ref's face while he was trying to do a coach. He's trying to talk to America. That's probably the funniest thing I've ever heard of referees. Talking to America right now. Hey, I'm trying to talk to America right now, buddy. You got something important to say? Like, this is at least the third most watch game.
Starting point is 00:40:52 People in Mexico are like, what the hell? What about me? I'm trying to go. Oh, what if he got a letter on his desk? Like, hey, Peter, we're trying to grow the game globally. They're listening in Germany. There it is. There's a sounder.
Starting point is 00:41:11 So, yeah, that was a lot of fun. And a good fun game, dude. That was a lot of scoring. I like the low scoring ones, but that was fun. Baltimore, Cincinnati. Uh-huh. This is where I heard that Matt Ryan was good. I was excited.
Starting point is 00:41:23 I'm really excited. Okay, I gave out. I've already told you, my Super Bowl picks dead. It's the Jets. I probably should get a redo. They're not dead yet. They're dead, bro. Kirk Cousins is playing to be a Jets quarterback.
Starting point is 00:41:35 He's going to take you to the promise land. Okay, but it sucks. You know, like we're not going to have home field advantage. It's going to be at the next game with you. Yeah, okay. But the Baltimore Ravens, who I picked to win the AFC North, after week one, I was kind of like, you know, but the offense looked a lot better. And I thought the offense had a lot to do with the Bengals not looking great out of the gate. You know, they didn't get the ball until seven minutes left in the first quarter because of that drive.
Starting point is 00:41:59 You know, if you're Joe Burrow, you get that huge ovation. You just signed your deal. AJ Green's doing whatever the fuck he's doing. He's retiring with a stick. And they're screaming. It's loud. And then, you know, let's flush it. want to get out there and get some easy completions flushed last week. And then football has to happen.
Starting point is 00:42:16 And then eight minutes of football, Joe just sitting there like flipping his hair, like, what the fuck? Then they go three and out. So I thought Baltimore's offense was more of a complete look. I thought it was balanced. I thought Lamar looked poised against all coverages. He made some really good throws. And I'm not sure a lot of people were watching this game relative to some of the other games maybe. But he looks good and he's getting the ball out. Quick release, two six. That's fast. It's not too fast, but seven explosive runs. I love that. You lose Dobbins. But the 3.4 yards per carry before contact with two backups and that's a hell of a job. Gus Edwards running hard. Justice Hill gets on on the edge. You run two ender rounds
Starting point is 00:43:02 to do veney to ice the game. I thought Lamar was great when they blitzed and he didn't hurt him. He got back like little positive plays when he was in bad situations and the Bengals heated him up 34% of the time. Here's what I love, Kyle, all the receivers that got targets in the first half. We said, where's O'Dell Beckham? Got him the ball quick. Early. Happy. Nelly, my boy, Nelly Agalach. They set their attitudes up for success. Yeah. And that is, I'm so glad you touched on that because that's what Monkens job is here is to manage attitudes and be able to keep freakish talents within the bumpers like at a bowling alley.
Starting point is 00:43:40 And I love Zay Flowers. He's going to be taking the tops off of defense. He made an incredible catch and throw yesterday. Mark Andrews being back. The real deciding factor for me, you know, if I'm analyzing this game and football on Sunday in general is the teams that have success in the red zone scoring touchdowns. Those are the teams that win football games. And the Bengals, they weren't able to finish it. And, you know, they were able to scratch and claw, no pun intended, down the field, get into the red area. They get Jamar Chase on the right side of the field, and it's a great breakup.
Starting point is 00:44:14 And it would have been a hell of a catch. But the ball's there, but they don't score. It's like the Jags against the Chiefs. If you don't score in the, if you don't score touchdowns in the red zone, you're going to be trailing. And the other side of things, the Ravens, which I love when we were talking, Nolan and I were talking about this before. I hate offenses with an athlete at quarterback that hands the ball to a running back.
Starting point is 00:44:37 I feel like we're going to get one. If you later in the show. You hand the ball to a running back in the low red area and you take the ball out of Lamar Jackson's hands, you've done the defense the biggest favor you can do. Service, yeah, you did them a service. So when they get down into the red area and they line up Mark Andrews and Pat Ricard and you name it out there on the field and they let Lamar run and they make the defense account for him as not only a pass. thrower, but a runner.
Starting point is 00:45:03 Well, you mentioned Pat Ricard. It's walking touchdown. You mentioned Pat Ricard. It's kind of interesting because we've been talking about, man, he's on the field all the time and they're trying to run this new offense. And it's just one of those things where they love him so much. Like they're like, we're like, we're putting them in there. But I think also there is an aspect where you're like, okay, the big guys are in there.
Starting point is 00:45:18 And we got to adjust our personnel. Another tackle. A 300 pound fullback. Yeah. And they can still run their stuff out of that look and the run game. And I think also, you know, like maybe they don't trust their skill guys to the degree that we're just going to spread it out. I think this is the most structured this offense has looked ever.
Starting point is 00:45:35 You know, like with Greg Roman, it's kind of like this bastard child of a bunch of stuff. It's like not really pro-style. It's not really like college. And Munkins bring it in just the right elements of everything. I don't want to overreact to week two because I thought in week one, the spacing was bad and they look a little lost out there at times. But they look good.
Starting point is 00:45:52 And obviously when you have the differentiating factor, the special stuff, you mentioned Zay Flowers for 58. I mean, that's a 58-yard throw. I don't know if it went for 58-yard throw. He beat the safety there. Better deep ball than he was all last night. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:06 Well, okay, Kyle. Icing the game on third and three. I mean, it's so loud there. He has to go to the sideline to get the call. And Wilson's the spy with the game on the line, basically. I mean, Gus iced two plays later. But third and three, they drop eight. They have Wilson spying.
Starting point is 00:46:22 Milk check. Milk check. And Lamar, just like he's sitting down an edge player that he's reading on a quarterback I keep. He sits Wilson down in the B gap, takes two steps up into the B because Wilson then has to meet him in the hole, and then he's out the gate on the right side. So like, that's the special stuff. Late in the second, they heat him up. He tucks the ball like under his arm, pitches it. It gets seven yards. You know, he's jumping over guys in the kill shot to Aguilar to put him up 10. Like, these are special plays. And that's, if you just play a balanced offense, you're breaking
Starting point is 00:46:57 in the studio. If you just play a balanced offense where you don't hurt yourself, the run game's good. Then when it's time for Lamar to shine, you can get the highlight real place. And he's not even doing the quarterback run stuff he used to do. So he's keeping clean. He's keeping healthy. The Baltimore defense, they blitzboro a lot out of the out of the half and made the Bengals burn a time out. They forced to pick. Gino Stone came off a chase in the red zone. Great reason. And every time the Bengals, I just mentioned this play, every time the Bengals had a chance to go up, They shot themselves in the foot. And, you know, it's a shame they didn't hit Irv Smith early on the sideline
Starting point is 00:47:32 because I think they probably get into more of a rhythm, but they didn't. I'm not worried about Joe Burrow, the quarterback. I think Joe Burrow made some nice throws. I'm worried about the calf. He couldn't even get out there to shake hands. And I'm worried about the offense. Like, where are the deep outs? Where's the stuff outside the numbers?
Starting point is 00:47:47 When you look at his shot chart yesterday, I think the best thing they do is the, I don't see the ball. Come back. But it's the back shoulder. it's the deep out to chase that they hit once. And Matt Ryan's like, we need to see more of that. Like, where is that stuff? Because, you know, like, I don't love their offense right now. The best drive of the game was the end of third quarter when they hit that deep out.
Starting point is 00:48:09 That's what we come accustomed to the last few years of Joe Burrow is seeing those deep outs, particularly in the Chiefs games. It's like, you look around, you're like, who's guarding that guy? You get a big chunk, opens the middle of the field. He was running down the field a second ago, and then he just stopped and the ball was there. I'm not going to give up on the Bengals. This is what they do early in the season. You know, but I also, I said before the season, I worried that this just isn't their year.
Starting point is 00:48:29 They're just so, there's so much success that they've almost had, and that can weigh on the team. And there's so many people they have to pay soon and burrow with the calf. There's a number of these teams, too. Yeah, yeah, they're going to be working through some stuff. So, Chargers, Tennessee, this one, if you're a Chargers fan, you can step out of the room for a minute. Give it to me here. As much as I want to put this on Herbert, I just can't put this on Herbert alone.
Starting point is 00:48:57 10, 106 air yards of attempt, I think that's the most rookie year. So we're seeing the ball push down the field more. Usually we say he's not pushing the ball down the field. Echler's out, so they can't run the ball. 2-9 a carry versus 4-2 for the Titans. And there have been 33 teams in ever, Kyle, that have had 50 points and zero turnovers the first two weeks.
Starting point is 00:49:18 There's only one that's not like the others. Chargers start 0-N-2 out of that subset. And on top of that, since 2010, 275 more pass yards and no turnovers in a game, that wins 80% of the time. You won't be surprised to find the charges are in the 20% there. So in the last four games, and Herbert's last four games,
Starting point is 00:49:38 he has 1,100 pass yards, seven total touchdowns, no picks, and a 66% completion rate. His team is 0.4. They just, they are, They are a caricature of themselves, the Chargers. Every time I say something good about the Chargers,
Starting point is 00:49:56 people remind me that they're the Chargers. My land. And every time I'm like, well, it's going to be different now. But as long as Brandon Staley's coach, I don't know if it's going to be different. You've got a defensive head coach. You know, they're 21 and 10 in games when Herbert leads in the fourth quarter. They had a chance to win the regulation. They give up a sack.
Starting point is 00:50:12 Nobody's open. And in OT, I thought a little bit of that was on Herbert. They go three and out. But if you're such a great defensive team, the Titans, I mean, they got two shots that got them in the game late. Otherwise you, so like first down, take the checkdown. Start the drive. Don't throw it up into double coverage.
Starting point is 00:50:29 Third down, maybe they need to get a time out there or something. But like, I could put that on Herbert. I'm kind of going to put it on the coach, though. And I hate to, like, beat the guy up. But when you're a defensive head coach and your team is like hosting track meets every week, it's a problem. And when you can't win those. moments in games, final two minutes, middle eight, whatever it is, like it shows up here.
Starting point is 00:50:55 And all these metrics that you say, like, this is an anomaly. How is this happening? I got to look at the coach. It's wild because when, I mean, he wasn't the coordinator in Chicago. He was the outside linebacker coach when Khalil Mack was there. He was part of a defense that was structured very similar to the Chargers defense in terms of personnel. They've got stars at all levels of the field and they have an even better offense in L.A. How are you not winning these games? You've been in these games a million times as a coach. in your career. And you've seen the way Vic Fangio and head coaches have dealt with some of these situations. It just, it leaves me scratching my head every time somebody explains to me
Starting point is 00:51:30 what Brandon was thinking. Well, they're going to go to Minnesota this week, okay? And the past defense is atrocious. Justin Jefferson is going to have 800 yards. Justin Jefferson is going to have, yeah, a lot of yards, like a mile of yards. And if Brandon Staley gets back on that plane, I don't want to say if they lose to Minnesota and Brandon Staley gets back on that plane, I feel like he knows it's one of the last times he's getting back on that plane. I don't know where they're at. I just gulped. I just gulped when you said.
Starting point is 00:52:02 I don't know where their heads at. And some people might be like, I'll give them a chance to sat in third. Like you got a rookie deal quarterback. You have fucking the Chicago Bulls out at wide receiver. You got a solid. And it's L.A. baby. It's L.A. You know, it's L.A.
Starting point is 00:52:18 So. They want to fire to Lakers coach. yesterday yeah well that's that's basketball yeah well you know what i'm saying i knew a guy that played out there for the l a rams and he was like man i go in restaurants and nobody talks to me i'm like what's wrong with that like they're over here talking to um that sounds great to uh to uh the nick young that's amazing so anyways um panahill rebounded nicely they're they're in a there everybody's get well game now the charges but uh titans haven't won in eight games i think it was Like, had they lost a bunch of games going back to last season?
Starting point is 00:52:51 A bunch of games. Hadn't scored that many points in a while. You know, again, defensive head coach with the game on the line, two weeks in a row, bad matchups. You know, find better matchups on Hopkins, on Tyreek Hill with the game on the line, man. So, I don't know. You get the Cowboys and Chiefs after they go to Minnesota and to the Raiders. I don't know if they go to the Raiders, they host the Raiders. But here's my question.
Starting point is 00:53:20 If you're the, if you're the Chargers Brass and you're ready to fire this guy, you probably, the Raiders week seems like the right week. God, I hate writing people's obituaries. And I got a lot of respect for the guy. You don't become a head coach in the NFL without having, yeah, exactly. You don't have a head coach in the NFL, you don't become a head coach in the NFL without being somebody who's got something to him. And I think Brandon Staley, I've always heard good things about him.
Starting point is 00:53:46 Good coach relates really well. He's a great communicator. I can speak firsthand to this. We've seen that and it doesn't translate the head coach is sometimes. Mark Tresman, great coordinator, great mind, great communicator. Not a great head coach. It's Kellyn Moore, man. Like the hire is great because it's better for the offense,
Starting point is 00:54:02 but it's like maybe you think he's a head coach one day. We were talking about that when he was in Dallas. I don't know. All right. Miami, New England. This was a game I was really excited about. Same kind of, you know, had one eye on it for part of it and then had to rewatch some.
Starting point is 00:54:15 but because the way we prep is we do live stream 1 p.ms, then 4 p.m. I'm watching the games because there's always less of them to watch. And then I'm watching film as well and reading up. And then Sunday night, it's just like catching up on everything. I wish I had more of a chance to really sit down and enjoy this game. But it was fun. I think it's a fun game. It was great.
Starting point is 00:54:36 It was a great way to cap the night off. Yeah, I mean, like, listen, the challenges, the chess match at two of the most brilliant coaches in the league in Belichick and in McDaniel. on both sides of the ball. It's Mike McDaniel's like, he's enjoying it. He's twisted. You see him over on the sideline. He's smiling.
Starting point is 00:54:56 They're my favorite head coach 4K camera shots are the Patriots Dolphins matchup. Exactly. Because the polarity of the two sidelines, you're looking at him, Mike McDaniel, who may or may not be baked over there. Kate was watching a game. I'm coming around on that thing.
Starting point is 00:55:13 My wife, my wife is watching. the game in the other room and I'm watching my computer. She goes, who is this guy they keep showing? Is he on drugs? And I was like, that is the head coach of Miami Dolphins, Mike McDaniel. And yes, I think he is on drugs. And he's a great coach. And then Bill Belichick on the other side line. Yeah, not on drugs. But, but, but, you know, like, it's, I, maybe it's a good opportunity to say I was wrong about something. And I just want to, like, do it on the first live show. I was wrong about Mike McDaniel. He was vaping.
Starting point is 00:55:46 Totally vaping. He had to be vaping. Did you see him run off the field at the end of the game? I saw. That's paranoia. Anxiety and paranoia. He just was out of there. But I mean, he's a great coach, man.
Starting point is 00:56:00 And Bill, I thought the game plan was going to work really well. Make him drive the length of the field. Make him earn it. They make him kick. And then you get a rookie with a fumble and you find yourself down 10-0. It's like that's not the way they want to play this game. But I would, as good a job as Bill does, and he created, stole three points on the field goal, the whole thing, short field.
Starting point is 00:56:21 Innovation. That was the theme. And, hey, the Christian Gonzalez thing looks like a hit. He is a beast. He did a good job on Tyreek Hill. Like, you know, and when you talk to people up there, you're like, I didn't think he'd do a really good job, but he did a really good job. And the pick was great.
Starting point is 00:56:36 Usually on a ball that's underthrown like that, you get like the PI situation. and he was in perfect position. He elevated. He made a great catch. That stuff, like, it's all good. And Bill brought him there. And Jack Jones is a good player. If he can, you know, leave his gun at home when he goes to the airport or avoid the
Starting point is 00:56:55 Panda Expresses. But, like, these are talented players he's bringing in in some spots. But I kind of blame Bill the GM a little bit, you know, because it's the same story. You've got a lack of playmakers outside. Hey, Hunter Henry doesn't work for you? Yeah. Every play. Every play.
Starting point is 00:57:13 You've got four guys, basically, I feel like that we're replacing dudes up front. They were shot from an offensive line standpoint. And it really showed, and the depth isn't great. They didn't capitalize on dolphins' mistakes. You know, like you get the pick, then kind of a, then you set up a short field in the most are TD. So another thing is, as good as they looked between the red zones in the passing game at times, I know some PAP fans are going to be like,
Starting point is 00:57:41 oh, no, the passing game sucked. I thought Mack had some nice throws, but don't go at Xavier and Howard when you need one on second down, like a 50-50 ball. That guy's so strong. The secondary on both those units are so talented. So talented, man.
Starting point is 00:57:55 Particularly Miami, and you watch that throw, the footwork on the Howard pick was unworldly. Oh, it's crazy. I mean, he's so under control. It's so under control. And the look of joy on that face, He just knows he just made a huge play. A freakish play.
Starting point is 00:58:12 Not only a big play, but like, it's like getting a sack and dipping and running the hoop. Yeah. This high off the ground. That's one of those really good sacks. He just feels different. It's not like a ball got. A smile celebration. Yeah, it's not like the ball got deflected and you just caught a punt.
Starting point is 00:58:24 It was a great play. And the dolphins, you talk about smiling. McDaniels over there. I said he's smiling like a sicko because they really turned into a four-minute offense that went out there and did enough. He's 31 for Haymoster. Yeah, but they did such. a good job of the field like keeping the field flipped in the second half at times like just getting positives even if they had to punt they ran the ball and I think this is an element of the
Starting point is 00:58:49 the offense because listen hey tackles who is going to get the ball out in two seconds oh my god he's as good as anybody at just getting that ball out distributing to his playmakers and you know like you hey Austin you know over there Austin Jackson you don't got to protect forever just just focus on go make first significant touch being where you need to be in the run game and just do the basics 2.08 seconds that's like
Starting point is 00:59:17 otherworldly and the Finn's showing that element in four minute Shub, Van Ginkle made some place. Van Ginkle. If he has 12 sacks there's no way they put him in the Pro Bowl. He's just he's too white and he's too. Milk check.
Starting point is 00:59:34 Milk check. He's too white. His name's Van Ginkle. there's too much confirmation bias because I've never seen him do this. I've seen him on the field doing some stuff, but I never seen him doing this, but he was great. I've seen him make like pick sixes
Starting point is 00:59:46 and fumble recoveries for touchdowns, but I've never seen him just flat out. He looks good out there. He looks good out there. And I got to say this. I don't want to gloss over it. I thought Tua did a really good job. He made a couple really nice throws.
Starting point is 00:59:57 Obviously, it was the pick, but they did enough. It wasn't like the spectacular, you know, a lot of those yardage, that yardage, like the pats are with three safeties and the whole thing. They lose Marcus Jones, so they're like, hey, we're going to give you a lot of yards.
Starting point is 01:00:10 But when he had to make contested throws, he made those throws. The pick's not great. There's some balls he wants back. But I'd be nitpicking if I said he didn't play a really good game. Mack Jones, I thought, was fine, too. I mean, you know, so. I'd be remiss if I didn't say this about the Dolphins offense. As an O-Lignment, it's much easier when your coach is calling run-blocking plays
Starting point is 01:00:32 and allowing the option for the quarterback to throw. That RPO stuff, I know it's talked about. and talked about often. But when you have, like Collinsworth was explaining to Dorico, the triangle scheme that they're running out on the outside where it's like a spacing concept. That stuff makes sense to me when I hear it from Collinsworth, who's a receiver, but as an offensive lineman, I would explain to the fans at home that it's an easier block to make.
Starting point is 01:00:59 A running block is a more high percentage block for an alignment. So if a coach is calling that shoot your gun type blocking. scheme and then having Tua have the ability to dump it off quickly, as you said, in under a second and a half, and under a second sometimes. Yeah. That scheme is sometimes they just snap into waddle. It's conducive to obviously success there. But when they do hand the ball, Chris, when they do hand the ball, they get chunks.
Starting point is 01:01:26 Yeah. So it's not just spread the feel with Tua's arm and all the freaks on the outside. It's like, we're going to run block. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, I think you're dead on, Kyle, and like being a defensive line. and playing that RPO stuff. Like you're already freaking out about the two, you get fucking frustrated.
Starting point is 01:01:43 You're like, damn, dude, I'm going to get, all week is a D-Lyman you here. If you're Matt Judon, you're like, oh, we got to eat. Look at these guys. They haven't played a lot. And there's nothing more frustrating when they're like, oh, they have an answer for that. And by the way, you're going to have to think about the run game too,
Starting point is 01:01:58 because a lot of the past game's going to look like the run game. So it's frustrating. And I can only imagine a tweet from Jason OTC, assuming a $256 million cap in 2024 teams with the most space. Pat's number one with $115 million. And people are saying that they should sign Otani. So maybe an answer outside.
Starting point is 01:02:23 Because he can hit and he can throw. Yeah. Two sides of the ball. He's like Travis Hunter. He can hit any good problem. Yeah. We like what he does. He's got talent from the far east
Starting point is 01:02:33 that we've never seen. Big bat from the far east. We scout them everywhere. We heard them all the way here. As of this morning, Tua is the co-favorant to win the MVP. And he should be. He should be. I don't, I think the MVP of that team might be Tyreek Hill.
Starting point is 01:02:48 Which is great. But I think when you look at, hey, you got to call it how you see it. Over the first two games, he's been terrific. You know, I can't think of too many quarterbacks that are playing better than him right now. Now, do I think at some point you see that? Matt Stafford? There's going to be some games where you play the Patriots and the Patriots. There's going to be some games where you play the Patriots
Starting point is 01:03:07 and the Patriots have an offense. Okay, and then you've got to play games in phase and teams are making you earn it and you've got rushers and that sort of thing. Like, I think the script is played out perfectly for them over two weeks. We'll see. I can do Sunday night football in New England
Starting point is 01:03:22 once every two weeks. Oh, dude. I can go live from New England every Sunday night. So here's the other thing. Not a lot of calls went New England's way. I'm not up here, you know, complaining about reps because I don't do that a lot. but it had to feel like if you were a Pats fan.
Starting point is 01:03:38 It was unpatriotic. Hey, Slater got blocked in the back. You know, like the hit was tough. Bill's like he's going for the ball. It's 15 yards. Even though that kind of helped. That was a brutal. That was a brutal hit.
Starting point is 01:03:48 And it should have been called. It probably should have been called, but I don't think he's going in there. Well, he was kind of going in. Anyway, hit him on the old whack. If you're a Pats fan, you're like, oh, we didn't get that call.
Starting point is 01:03:57 We didn't get the spots. You know, on the spots, I kind of get a little bit of it because, like, you just had a play where you think he's probably over. you don't get it. They, they, doesn't go your way.
Starting point is 01:04:08 Bill pulls a stinky red flag out of his sock. The girth first at the end. That was a first down. But I'm really glad that Gaseki pitched the ball to him. I'm screaming pitch it because that's what you got to do. So heads up play. And listen, I don't know.
Starting point is 01:04:20 He caught it coming downhill. I don't know. It's no, it's no sure thing that get in the end zone and then go win in overtime. But if you're a Pat's fan, you're probably saying, oh, a couple of those calls. A couple of those calls.
Starting point is 01:04:31 I don't know what. That gets the, that gets the meter going. Can you get a Boston accent and say a couple of those. You're pretty good at... I don't know. Okay. I'd have to practice that one.
Starting point is 01:04:39 It's a really tough one. Yeah. All right. So... I can say car. I walked to my car. Call. Okay.
Starting point is 01:04:46 Would you say? A couple of those calls. A couple of those calls. All right. So I got an ad read. I'm going to do the whole thing in a brain tree accent. I'm not. I hate buying tickets.

Starting point is 01:06:41 Well done. Little rough in the third quarter, but we came back in the fourth and won the game there, Kyle. Tough sledding. Is this another one? Oh, I can't wait for that little Caesar's ad. All right. So we are at Green Bay, Atlanta.
Starting point is 01:06:57 This is the second tier. Fun game. Yeah, really fun game. making called this the Cory Chase tier. So don't turn your head too hard, big boy. I would probably invert those too. Okay, you knew exactly how you would invert the tiers? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:07:11 Really? Yeah. That's interesting. Live show now. All right. You brought it up. I know, you're right. I'm over here talking football and run game.
Starting point is 01:07:20 Well, you know, you got to have fun ways to. You're like, Corey Chase. I'm like, oh! You got to have a fun. You got to have a fun way to do the watchability segment that they do with the ringer. You know, it's like, people do these segments that it's just basically like which games were the most fun.
Starting point is 01:07:37 It's not like it's anything, you know, groundbreaking. But they put a bunch of window dressing. But I still have to window dress it differently. Sorry, Bill. We also like ranking the games. Adra Fox, tier one. Brianna Banks. Throwback.
Starting point is 01:07:51 Okay, all right. So, wow. The lions. They ran the Brianna Bayouters. Touchdown play. Throwback. That's good. We're done.
Starting point is 01:08:02 Kyle, that's good. All right. Yeah, that's the Sarah Jay play. I think they all kind of do that play. So the bills, Kyle. The bills. The Williams. Here's all I'm going to say.
Starting point is 01:08:15 And I told you, bet the bills. I told you. I tried to put the money in your pocket. And some of y'all were like, nah, that's a lot of points. I don't want your money. All right? But I said, I'll take the money.
Starting point is 01:08:25 Josh rebounded. 31 for 37 for 27 for 27. Davis had a big day. And here's the key. The biggest key in this game to me is James Cook, 126 yards on 18 carries, 4 for 36 in the passing game. Where has he been? This is what we need to see.
Starting point is 01:08:42 Kromer's your guy up there. This was a 12. You listen to this though. 12 of 17 off tackle, or 12 of 18 or whatever, and a ton to the offensive left away from, if I had to guess, Max Crosby. And behind Dawkins, I thought the game plan was much better. They got the run game going.
Starting point is 01:09:03 And I think Josh just avoiding those, like, ridiculous plays and getting that out of your system. Now you can, like, you're going to the commies next week before you got the dolphins. And the dolphins and the bills is going to be a great game. It seems like it always is. And I was talking to Phil Sims and boomer Assison in studio yesterday about this. And I was asking about Josh Allen because I, like so many people, I'm infatuated with his talent. And I'm also puzzled by the amount of turnover. And they just said, look, Josh Allen's going to score you a lot of points.
Starting point is 01:09:33 He's going to throw a lot of great balls. He's got to be okay with punting the ball sometimes. And that's something I didn't think about because I'm always feast or famine. You're either throwing picks or you're throwing touchdowns. Some of his picks are like puns. Sometimes neutrality is okay. And I mean, if you're going to chuck it 60 yards down the field over everybody's head and throw a pick, that's more manageable, obviously, than short area picks.
Starting point is 01:09:54 But being able to be challenged and responding in the offensive line room. and putting the ball on the ground. And I know that Aaron Kromer shut that door and put the onus on his group. And he took the challenge personally because he treats quarterbacks like, you know, they're his boys, you know what I mean? And we are an extension of the quarterback.
Starting point is 01:10:13 How we go up front is how Josh Allen's going to go. And I think it took the pressure off Josh and allowed him to do his thing. No question. I thought that was a good day at the office for them and for the Raiders, Josh Jacobs. Everybody's heard this stat minus two rushing yards the most ever the next year by a rushing title guy.
Starting point is 01:10:28 So not great. And Milano, he's got two picks already. I love him. I could just, I told you, I'm going to lock my son in a dark room with Matt Milano on the projector for a year and just see what happens. He's a guy that I would have hated to play against.
Starting point is 01:10:41 We don't have to pay for college. But I love watching. Like, he's just going to go be a football player. He's going to be a little Tom and Mansky version of a lineback back to back to back to back AAU National Channel. I've never heard Matt Milano talk. Those guys never miss the trash cans.
Starting point is 01:10:56 Okay, so I called an audible. I wanted to start with the best game of the mid-tier. And I almost put it in the first tier. I think honestly Atlanta Green Bay was one of the best games of the day. And some people were like, I'm waiting to see if these teams are good. Let me tell you something about both these teams. They're good.
Starting point is 01:11:12 Yeah. Okay, and Atlanta's good. Atlanta might be the best team in the NFC South. I picked the Saints because of the quarterback. We'll see what happens to Atlanta. But team, they got the best team in the NFC South. They are a good football team. And I thought, starting with the Packers, man, a huge road test for Jordan Love. Probably his, I mean, I think he went to Kansas City
Starting point is 01:11:36 as a spot starter, but like going down to Atlanta is really tougher. Maybe the Kansas City game was at home. That really spits on Soldier Field, huh? What? What? Talk about Jordan Love start. Yeah, yeah. I'm just like, fuck. It was just easy sledding week one. Yeah, it really does. Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly. Perfect passer rating. Yeah, I'm sorry. I'm glad. I'm sorry. I'm glad. lost right over Chicago. I was like, damn, dude. Yeah, and Chicago's a lot of fun, but Atlanta, they're having fun and they're making a lot of noise and it's inside. And, you know, immediately they're out
Starting point is 01:12:03 a field goal range on a penalty. So, and you know, it's a high octane off. I thought they did a great job of and I think this is something they can go back to. Deep balls getting PI because Dobbs is such a freak show. They hit one off the bat to kind of settle
Starting point is 01:12:18 the crowd down. And they were in, and they did it late too. They were up 2412 at one point. This was, Falcons needed like three scores in the fourth. They were so efficient, the Packers were really bad on third down, and they average seven yards to the line to gain. So, you know, missing Aaron Jones, I thought heard him on second down a lot. Like on first down, they were 11-3 split.
Starting point is 01:12:42 Like, that's too much one way or the other. It's too predictable. But like for Jordan Love, you have Toray at the end of the game. It's right on his hands. He just doesn't make the play. You're close to going in and win that game. And I think, you know, for the headball coach to have a shot of him and Jordan Love on the sideline, and he's consoling him and saying like, hey, we're going to be good.
Starting point is 01:13:04 Like basically we say he's like, bro, we're going to fucking, we're going places. And I think, I think that invigorates, you know, LaFleur because a year ago, you see that cutaway after tough loss. It's like Rogers and him, like, oh, I don't like you. I don't like you. Like, I want to be out of here. Jordan Love is this kid. But Jordan is for the kids.
Starting point is 01:13:25 They really like the guy. And the end of the game, you could tell that, like, those two were in it together. Yeah. And it's cool. I think good for the head coach to have a young guy that he can mold. And good for Jordan Love for being a sponge and going out there and looking pretty decent. For the Falcons, Ritters up and down. Okay, like, he's going to throw you at least three a game.
Starting point is 01:13:46 And I'm not saying that Heineke would be any better. But I just, like, at some point, I'm wondering if they turned to him. I don't want to beat the kid up. because he made some nice plays with legs. But after that Wicks touchdown, by the way, shout out to Don Tavian Wix, Virginia zone. First touchdown.
Starting point is 01:14:01 First touchdown of his career. Yeah, and AJ Terrell right on his hands in the end zone. That's a tough guy. But, like, you know, I think it was a smash concept. And they were this close. And then, you know, like the drive after that, that Wix touchdown, they're up 17. I don't know, 17.
Starting point is 01:14:17 What are they up? But the drive after that touchdown, it was Arthur Smith, if you ever want to see a coach that's like, I don't trust this guy right now. Go watch that drive. Kyle, they handed the ball off 14 times. And the Packers couldn't stop him. And, you know, like he missed Hollins and the end zone.
Starting point is 01:14:37 They had to settle for a field goal. But, like, you see the fourth down late, the athleticism to get out to the left and score a touchdown. Great. But, like, hit your throws and don't throw the ball to the other team. And I feel like that's something we're going to struggle with, with Desmond Ritter a little bit. I thought the, you know, styles make fights, right?
Starting point is 01:14:55 And we've seen this a number of times in the league where a group that's good at stopping the past faces a team that's dominant in the running game. And you look at Arthur Smith, the way he is installing this offense, he's going to allow Bijan to have lateral movement in the running game in terms of, they're not running between the tackles, right?
Starting point is 01:15:15 No one. They're running at the tackle or outside of the tackle, giving Bejohn an opportunity. to use his eyes and his athleticism. The jump cuts, the foot in the ground stuff. You know, the Falcons are built to road grade up front. Yeah. The Packers have a great front seven on the inside. And they were good yesterday.
Starting point is 01:15:34 And they were good yesterday. And they forced that offense to go outside the tackle. He's a nightmare for the second level guys. But I think about the way the Packers are constructed and they're a confident cocky punch on the edges that make turn. They force, they create turnovers. They dropped a pick yesterday. Jair had an opportunity
Starting point is 01:15:51 A couple, yeah. Had an opportunity to run that thing, Dion Sanders style back. A buddy that had a pick last week, almost had to pick the Quay Walker kid. But it just didn't, things weren't working as they usually are for that defense. They're complimentary usually.
Starting point is 01:16:04 But I think just the matchup was tough. And the Artie party took advantage of it. And Arthur, man, with his Warren Sharp mustache and his, he's the analytics. America's team. I mean, like everybody loves everybody who who has a has an account on nfl.com and watches the all 22 loves arthur smith and um you know like going for it all game long next stat next gen stats decision guide king fourth and one from the
Starting point is 01:16:34 green bay 23 with two minutes left and i love this down 24 22 you almost lost the game uh anyways on on a field goal but like just to stretch the game a little bit to get that first down and have the testicles to put the ball in the edge. He did that a couple times in short yardage situations, and that's not just balls, it's trust in your young running back to make people missing. Boy, did he. But three of five on fourth down, one was a false start,
Starting point is 01:17:03 so they count that. 40% on third down, not as good. And that's where they got to get better in the passing game. But I will say this, great throw to Matt Collins. I want to shout out my guy, Matt Collins. Great post by Matt Collins, too. over Darnel Savage and bring that ball down. And that's what they needed to stay in the game.
Starting point is 01:17:21 So I'm not trying to bury Ritter, but this is a really good team, and the quarterback's got to catch up. Yes. Speaking of teams that the quarterback needs to catch up, shall we move to the SJ section of the tiering? Yes. The Chicago Bears, Kyle.
Starting point is 01:17:39 Bears, man, it's... He's like, I've got to remember with bears. It was frustrating. Frustrating. You know, we finished our live show yesterday at noon, and I had a little bit of time before the Bears game to get in the car, get changed, and I was watching. And the one thing that stands out to me is just the quarterback doesn't process quick enough.
Starting point is 01:17:58 He pats the ball in the pocket. Last year, I have some stuff written down here for this, and I don't want to pick it up. You pick it up. I don't want to. I'll tell you what's wrong, Kyle. I don't want to get the stats wrong because they're staggering. I'll tell you what's wrong, Kyle.
Starting point is 01:18:11 They're staggering. You got a quarterback who, it feels like the lens we're looking. through and I'm on I'm I'm I'm a Justin Fields guy like in the preseason I'm like yeah last year I've never jumped off the wagon and I'm I got one foot off the wagon right now I'm not going to jump off the wagon just yet because the wagon's I'm rolling in the dirt on the side of the road you're like saving Silverman 5-0 three cars back you just barrel you know I'm not too far behind the car that's not moving very fast well I'm still I got one foot off but I'm still on it Kyle. The problem with Justin Fields is the lens we're looking at because of his play and his
Starting point is 01:18:46 processing right now. And I think he's a sharp kid. He is. And I think he's got the quarterback's hard though. He's got the arm talent to do it. And the way they started this game, you just thought they were going to be great. I mean, they go up seven three. He hits a, he hits an out against pressure. He's got an explosive DJ more. You're like, oh, they're settling in. But, you know, like as the half went on, those two, those two completions were it for like 15 minutes and the sacks start happening and DJ Moore it's not like he's up there like come on motherfucker like he's up there like I'm open he's like he's like I'm open man you know because he can tell he likes Justin Fields he wants to help help me help you yeah as dad would say
Starting point is 01:19:24 so the read I get is they like the kid the kid can make a lot of throws he made some throws but he also made terrible throws and like we keep looking through the and there are terrible throws he didn't make that we keep looking through the lens of of like he's a rookie It's almost like I trick myself yesterday watching and to be like to being like, oh, he'll process faster. Bro, what year is this? It's not like Getsi just got there.
Starting point is 01:19:47 So it's either on him or it's on the coaches and I think it's on a little bit of both. The bandwagon I might jump off would be the offensive play caller bandwagon because he has not grown to start this season. The whole thing stinks to me. I don't know what's going on with the D-Corpsator. Alan Williams didn't travel with the team.
Starting point is 01:20:06 Gets he called the, or Iber Fus called the D. You look at the offensive side of the ball. Last year, we saw Justin Fields have the ability to run when things broke down. I think somebody told him last year, hey, look, make the reads you can read. If it's not there, take what you can get and get down. At this point, last year, he was on pace. He had 1143 rushing yards last year. Yeah, it's crazy.
Starting point is 01:20:30 He's 70 yards away from Lamar's all times or single-season quarterback rushing record. big series on pace for 527. He's been sacked 10 times in two games. Now, they go out and they get darned right. They've got a couple guys who have been there historically at the offensive line position. Nate Davis didn't travel with the team, one of their guards, who they acquired in free agency. So they're down a man. You go down at Tampa Bay against a team that was hot last week.
Starting point is 01:20:58 And historically, the Bears have not played well in Tampa Bay. And Justin just seemed out of rhythm at times, out of sync. I'm not quite sure what the answer is, but I can tell you this. You've got two options. You make your first read, you make your second read, and you throw it away if it's not there, or you take it, you see your first read,
Starting point is 01:21:19 you see your second read, it's not there, and you run. You're the most athletic guy on the field. And this sucks because, you know, like we... You don't have the best O line. You're not the Eagles. You're not the Cowboys. You're not any of these teams that have the luxury of having the right moves in the draft
Starting point is 01:21:33 to acquire a solid front. The mistakes have been made. You have to live with it for the rest of the season. How are you going to shore this up? And I think freeing fields up to do more of what he's comfortable with, which as we all know is running the damn ball. Four design runs so far this. Let him run it.
Starting point is 01:21:50 And I don't even think it's the, I think design runs are an important part of the offense. There's no doubt about it. But you need to have him have the option, like a quarterback in Madden, like a player at Madden, when you drop back, sometimes you've got to run it and take what you can get. And Justin Fields is fast enough, big enough, strong enough,
Starting point is 01:22:08 and he has the presence of mind to make people miss in the open field. I'd love to see that wrinkle be part of the offense. I'd love to see a wrinkle where they throw the ball down field, you know. And I will say Chase Claypool worked harder yesterday. Well, not much. I mean, like, and here's the thing in the second half. And I don't want to put it all on Justin Fields. I've been on teams like the Bears.
Starting point is 01:22:26 Like this team reminds me a lot of my career. You know, it's just like one step forward, five steps back. the offense is out of sync, you know, like some exciting players, but you're just going to be middling at best. And, you know, like, I know this feeling. It sucks. And it's never just one guy. And here's the thing.
Starting point is 01:22:49 Like, everybody's talking about Justin Fields this morning. I'm not taken away from the fact that he needs to be better. But in the second half alone, guys got to help him. I mean, Claypool not competing on that pick was bad. But he actually did give effort in the running game. No question. Which was great. I also had an OPI that set up the questionable call and throw at the end of the game.
Starting point is 01:23:08 And if you're Justin Fields, take your medicine after the game. Don't say, I don't like the call. Like, I understand it's not the call I would make. And your guy hung you out to dry having you backed up against, right back up against the pirate ship. But like. With the cannon in your ear? You don't get, you, you didn't play well enough to sit back there and question the play caller. Don't do that.
Starting point is 01:23:30 I'm a big Justin Fields fan. If he was my team man, I'd be like, hey man. Like, you know, I know in today's NFL, it's all about player empowerment and, like, players can do no wrong. And if you complain about a coach, it's always, but that works if you played well. You didn't play well. So, you know, the bad snap, commending more in the same spot on, I think, a third down, it's like somebody's wrong.
Starting point is 01:23:51 There's, they're not good enough to be fucking shit up. And if you're Justin Fields, you're not playing well, but they're not helping you either. And I don't think the offense is helping him. And when you're a young player, and he's getting. early, it's getting late quick for him. But like, you have to, when you're a young player, you have to have coaches that develop good habits. And it just doesn't feel like they're developing and reinforcing those good habits. Because if they were, he'd be more confident. There's something about his confidence right now that's just not there. And I don't think it's his arm.
Starting point is 01:24:25 I don't know if it, Kyle is a thing where you're so tired of hearing like, but he can't throw. So like the whole offseason, you're like, he can throw. No, I know he can't. I know, I know. But the whole off season is like, you know, you can't throw. Okay, I'm going to get in the lab and I'm going to prove it. To your point, don't forget what got you to the dance. While you're working on all the other stuff, you can still do that. God touched you in the same way that he touched Josh Allen,
Starting point is 01:24:50 in the same way that he touched Patrick Mahomes' creativity and athleticism. This was God. And Lane Johnson. This was God. This was God when he was like going through Dad's whole arsenal. He was like, oh, Chris. And I was like, oh, cool. Well, let me interject.
Starting point is 01:25:06 It's like for Josh Allen. If I could be in Josh Allen's here, if I was one of Josh Allen's alignment, I would say, hey, man, you don't always have to throw it. Like, if you run it, you're going to get some yard. We can win with that coaching point. By the way, Josh Allen does not care. Don't be like Josh Allen in the way. Keep it simple. If Justin Fields, if Justin Fields was just like, if he had a little bit more bucket to him, I think at times he's playing.
Starting point is 01:25:29 He's very type A. He's playing afraid. Yeah. Not afraid. He is potentially in fear of what happens if he makes mistakes. Exactly. And I say, my favorite quarterbacks are the ones that make mistakes because you know that a mistake is a centimeter away from a touchdown.
Starting point is 01:25:44 And also this, Kyle, is like, at some point, you can safe guy it to the bench. Like, you can safe guide it all you want. You're going to get the same result. My point is this is like, sometimes in the NFL you have to hit rock bottom. As a high draft picket, things aren't going well. I talked about this on the show last year. Like there was a point for me in my second year where I was like, I don't know what else to do.
Starting point is 01:26:06 I got to realize it is as bad as it could get relative to my expectation. And then I just let it go. And I feel like that's what has to happen sometimes. And I think we're going to hit rock bottom here very soon for the Bears. I would be surprised if they're not already at all these college games every week. I'll be back for the St. Louis Memorial Award with some more stuff from this game. They're the biggest dogs on the board for week three trying to get a first win in 13 games. Who are they playing?
Starting point is 01:26:31 At the Chiefs. Yeah, what's the spread? 13 and a half. I mean. Bet the bear. But you know what? The Justin Fields, the Justin Fields that we all grew to love in the first few years is the one who says, fuck it. And these kind of matchups.
Starting point is 01:26:44 But as, as Chris Collinsworth said last night, so he pointed this out really astutely, uh, it's, it's, you got a wig instead of wag sometimes. So maybe they wig this week. Man, Chris Collinsworth. Yeah. Yeah. Here's a guy's wigging. He's wigging.
Starting point is 01:27:00 He's a guy. It is not a wagon. There we go. I love Boston. What a town. I was like, yes, Mike. Cool, Mike. Cool.
Starting point is 01:27:11 Broncos commies, we already hit it. The only thing I'll say about this is like Sean Payton comes in. The offense is better. And then Vance Joseph is out there just fucking it up. And so that's the only thing left. We just need to play. You know, the defense play great against the Raiders.
Starting point is 01:27:27 Offense not there. They'll always have that beautiful deep ball that happened yesterday. though. Yep, a couple times. Houston Indy, there's a lot to be excited about both these young quarterbacks. I mean, like, I heard yesterday that, you know, Stroud was the first Ohio State quarterback to throw for 380 yards.
Starting point is 01:27:45 I thought it was the first rookie Ohio State quarterback, and I was going to make a joke and be like the first Ohio State quarterback ever, but it is true. He is the first Ohio State quarterback ever to throw for 380. That's a lot of yards. Ohio State quarterbacks are 0-16 right now. Kirk Herb Street never did it. No. So anyways, the whole thing to me is they were in garbage time early. A lot of yards racked up, but sometimes this is okay. This is almost worth it. I know you're not like trying to lose games, but when you get jumped like that and you have an opportunity for, you know, a quarterback who's young to get that many reps. And, you know, like not preseason reps, but reps that matter and are going to be slanted in his favor a little bit because you're playing off and you're just trying to let him,
Starting point is 01:28:30 on the field, like you can build confidence that way. And I thought, Stroud looked good. My whole thing, I'll say it again with Andy Richardson. He's slowing up, I think, to absorb that contact, like at the, and he gets put on the back of his head. And then he self-reports and he's out and good on him, but like, you're the guy, man. Like, we can't have you not finishing your first two games
Starting point is 01:28:53 in the NFL, you know, and that's part of that's on the play caller. Well, the first one was the shoulder, this one being the head. First one, I think it was the knee. Didn't he go down on his shoulder? Was it his knee? It was a hard tackle of knee and he left with the knee bruised. I just remember him getting folded up forward with one and coming out.
Starting point is 01:29:07 But then you look at this one and, you know, that head snapping back is never fun. It's never fun. But he also got up like with a concussion and was like, yeah. It was awesome. Pass the test right there. You get knocked out. You hop up talking shit. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:29:24 No, I mean, he did. He popped up and was talking shit. He was like hand down, man down. Oh, fuck. wrong sport. So anyways, Houston and Indy, I'm not going to spend a lot of...
Starting point is 01:29:34 Mouse in the house. Yeah, mouse in the house. So anyways, Houston Indy, I'm not going to talk too much about that game. I'm sorry Houston, indie fans.
Starting point is 01:29:44 It's a long show. We got a lot to get to. And then lastly, Giants Cardinals, I am so happy for Daniel Jones because this was about to be like, hey, is this the worst contract
Starting point is 01:29:55 in NFL history, all this stuff. And maybe it is. I don't know. We'll see. But it's, they're just, They're just kind of anemic at times.
Starting point is 01:30:05 And we said this going to the season. They don't have a lot of weapons outside. You know, Waller can't do everything. They find themselves getting jumped by the Cardinals who are supposed to be tanking. News flash, they don't seem to be tanking. But they actually end up getting the wind. They're down. This is the biggest Giants comeback in franchise history in the Super Bowl era.
Starting point is 01:30:25 And not without a cost. I don't know where the Saquan injury is. Sprined. But his ankle sprained. And they got a short week. crumpled up and who they play on thursday they play somebody good on thursday it's not good they play at san francisco it's not good it's just not good i wonder what the line is in that game 10 and a half 10 and a half so you know like you're gonna have to play better than that or you're
Starting point is 01:30:49 gonna end up in the same in the same dallas situation and uh brian dable's trying to keep his cool but you know he was the darling last year they loved him last year and now it's like the cigars are harder to come by, that sort of thing. And I'm a big dayball fan, but they got to be better. I mean, this is not a situation where they're in a rebuild. They're supposed to be here. They're not supposed to be coming. They're here.
Starting point is 01:31:15 This is Taekonda Roga. This is Taekonda. They need to win that. Is it Taekonda or Taekonda? Taekonda roga. Let's beat these red coats and make some pencils and call them. Aim small, miss small. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:31:28 So, aim small. Got them with a musket. So anyways, the Giants, we're not going to talk about them too much. You want more Giants talk, play better. I'm sorry. I know some people are going to say, hey, you didn't hit the Giants game for seven minutes like the other ones.
Starting point is 01:31:45 Play better. Yeah. This is my podcast. Don't go down 60 to nothing through six quarters. Maybe we'll spend a little bit more time on it. They had all the graphics ready for like the worst starts in NFL history. You know it was a bad start when your quarterback has a historically productive second half. Exactly.
Starting point is 01:32:01 Stroud. Exactly. Everybody had a historic second. Wow, he threw a lot of stuff. But again, Gannon's doing a good job. Like, you know, they're not, they're a bad team. And people were, it's again, people making fun of the sound bites and the whole thing. And I've done it.
Starting point is 01:32:16 And Philly fans are like, we wanted him gone. But he's down there. He's coaching hard. And for the Bidwell's up there in the fucking skybox there, they're like, hold on a minute, player. You know, we need to let the head. The red phone. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:32:29 The red phone starts ringing. Yeah, the red phone from God. They're trying to talk to the QB either. They're trying to talk to the headman. Yeah, what the fuck is going on out here? Buddy, slow it down. You're throttling. Brian Daiblo and Giants.
Starting point is 01:32:42 All right, so I have another ad read here before we get into mentions, and then we'll wrap this thing up. There was two games we didn't hit Cowboys Jets and 49ers ramp. Oh my God, how could I forget? I'm jumping around like a motherfucker. You know, they forgot, Breeze Hall four times he touched the football. He had a tweet with four football emojis. You know what?
Starting point is 01:33:00 Bruce Hall, you're pretty damn good. I would be frustrated as well. This team is busting at the seams right now. It is. I mean, you got one guy deactivating Twitter, one guy posting football cryptic messages.
Starting point is 01:33:10 You got wide receiver tweets out here from a running back. You got quarterbacks listening to dolphins mating. Is that one? Oh, yeah, Rogers. He says it's conducive to healing. Man, I'd love to, is there a zoo around here?
Starting point is 01:33:24 Wait, I'm healing. Do they schedule these fuck fest? Yeah. Because these dolphins are horny, too. And you know, It's kind of, you know, dolphins, we've talked about how problematic they can be. It's a live show, so I'm not going to get into it.
Starting point is 01:33:35 Yeah. Yeah. But Aaron Rogers, that's out of left field. Zach Wilson needs to listen to some dolphins mating because he's still Zach Wilson. At least soaking. He needs to heal. Yeah. At least just, just set up right here on the blowhole and stand still.
Starting point is 01:33:53 I'll jump on his tail. So him and Aaron are at the zoo up there, the Brooklyn Zoo. They're in there like Ace Venture with Snowflake. Just get him in the water. We can't have nothing. He can heal. Coach, we don't need to trade for cousins. I need three dolphins and a fucking full-blown orgy.
Starting point is 01:34:16 I need a whole troop of dolphins, a pod, whatever the fuck they call. A pod. Yeah. So, yeah. Bringing a pods. Yeah. So we are doing a pod. Zach Wilson, who looks like Haley Van Litt.
Starting point is 01:34:28 Just, I mean, like, they played that game out of phase. And I thought like the real story here, the Cowboys. I mean, pretty soon the Jets are going to be down here in the bottom for all the wrong reasons. The Cowboys, they look like the best team in football. I hate saying that because like, I'm an Eagles guy, but like at this point in the season, it's so early, if I were like, who's the best team in football? How could you not say the Cowboys? They've just, they've destroyed everything in their, in their path. I mean, the way Micah Parsons comes free, it's, it's like, I felt so bad. get hurt out there.
Starting point is 01:35:03 I felt so bad for that group, the O line. And, oh, you know, the sets aren't bad. The plan isn't bad. The scheme isn't bad. It's nothing. It's not the plan. But at the end of the day, he's just different. Hey, Dwayne, it's not the plan.
Starting point is 01:35:19 It's not your set. It's just, I'm an alien. It's in year 16. And in back-to-back weeks, he's gone against some of the most wiry, rangery. Can you imagine in Little League, some kid, you know, with a bucket of bubblegum selling them, or five cents. He's like, he's three years old.
Starting point is 01:35:37 And you're like, this kid's going to be beating me on Sunday afternoon at some point. Like, it's just hard being old in the NFL. But I will say this, the Cowboys offense, you know, can get lost in the shuffle a little bit. They looked like that scary, high-powered offense. Seedy Lamb, who's made of concrete, the way he hits the ground and just pops right back up. He's fearless out there.
Starting point is 01:35:58 No, waste of space on him. I mean, he's just a beast. I like the passing game was really good. The Jets hung in there in the red zone or else this game's even worse. And I love the cover on the under here. I mean, I had 41. It landed just perfectly, Matt back there with the American Psycho. Jiff, like, because that's what I was like up there watching the game.
Starting point is 01:36:23 I was like, I'm going to. I imagine that field goal at the end of the Rams game wasn't quite the same feeling. Well, listen, here's the deal. I'll get to the Rams game. We don't want to talk. Zach was two for 13 under pressure. Are the Jets gonna make a trade? They have to, Kyle.
Starting point is 01:36:36 Is it gonna happen? You can say everything you want after week two, but again, like, and this is my buddy, Joe Douglas, so I'm not speaking for him, and we haven't talked about it, because I don't hit up GMs and ask him, like, hey, tell me this thing that nobody else knows. But I thought they had a shot here,
Starting point is 01:36:52 and they just, they come out and it's more the same, and it's like the gap has widened. Your points are basically one slant to Garrett Wilson, And, you know, like, you can say all you want that, like, we have our guy in this, that and third. But what you're saying is, like, winning is not that important. Crazy. That was their first touchdown connection. All this Eagle Crow talk, all this hard knocks, all this, we care.
Starting point is 01:37:16 So we're going out to, we're going to mortgage the future for Aaron Rogers. Like, he's not playing 70% of the snaps. You got a first round pick just sitting there. People told me last week I was too, to trade happy and all this stuff. Give the kid a chance. The kids had a chance and it'd be, I feel bad for him because if he was on a worst team, we might say, ah, it's the team, it's the team and give him more chance. But this team's good.
Starting point is 01:37:38 They're ready to win now. And yeah, you're not going to be able to go out and get a quarterback. Like Stafford's not like, not that Stafford's the move, but I'm just picking that out. It's like a team that we thought was bad. Need a new spark blood. They look okay. They're not going to try to, they're not going to trade him and ruin Pooka Nakuwa's development. The best, you know, like, draft steel in NFL history.
Starting point is 01:37:57 And Kirk's not going to get traded week too. because they want to act like they're trying, and they are trying. But like, so anyways, I just think they got two of six in the red zone for, for Dallas, again,
Starting point is 01:38:08 like, could have been worse. And Dallas looks really good. And yeah, where is Bree's Hall? When the game was still close, Sauce almost had a pick there and dropped it. And that would have been massive for keeping that game,
Starting point is 01:38:20 at least close and competitive. But that's the type of game that everything has to, you have to do everything right, and you went down there and you didn't do everything right. Turn the ball over a bunch of times. you couldn't get the run game going. You couldn't block their guys. It's just you had to be perfect and you weren't.
Starting point is 01:38:35 Speaking of L.A. and San Francisco, the most important thing about this game is that I just want to point this out because I kept, I was walking around saying, hey, you're not going to lose your money on San Francisco. They were minus seven. I was like, bet that. Bet the bills, that's going to be a blowout. Bet San Francisco's will be a blowout.
Starting point is 01:38:55 Well, San Francisco is playing with their food a little bit, playing zone and Stafford's back there picking them apart. Pooka Nakua looks like fucking the greatest slot receiver of all time. They're going to build them a statue outside SoFi. But they were playing with their food and they end up in a situation before the half where, and I can't understate how tense this is, they're moving the ball down to field fine, but so are the Rams and they're down 1710. And they get the ball and they have a chance.
Starting point is 01:39:22 I don't know if it's a two for one. No, it's two for one for the Rams. So like the Niners have under a minute. They get a PI in the end zone. So they get down to the one, which is kind of a gift, was a legit call. They get on the one. They run one play with like 10 or seven seconds to go.
Starting point is 01:39:38 They don't get it. So at this point, you're thinking probably kick 17, 13, not Kyle Shanahan. Kyle Shanahan's not worried about going down 2410, which is what would have happened, I feel like, had they not gotten this. But to be able to make that play and go into the half tied, go out, play defense in the second half,
Starting point is 01:39:56 they were so confident because they were running, the ball for 5-5 a pop it was like they were in this race with somebody slower than them and they looked up halfway through and they're like oh you're still here let me just turn on the jets and run faster and and to me you know that's the story is is uh is them in the second half just staying with it and eventually getting some stops mcvay with the push i gave out and shout out to my boys on missing curfew upper Shane my boys my hockey dudes um they asked me for for some plays this week. And I said, hey, San Francisco. And they're texting me after the game like longer. Have you ever seen something like that? Like they were just incredulous because McVeigh,
Starting point is 01:40:37 it was like he had the, he had the Rams because they kicked the field goal to end the game and get to a push. I've never, I've never seen anything like it, but that's a bad beat for some people now. Luckily, your boys to tease God. And you really should think about this. If you're going to do a money line parlay, which I was close to doing with the Rams and the, um, and the bills. It's not gonna, it's a little riskier than teasing the two teams.
Starting point is 01:41:03 You tease them down to two pickums. Nothing wrong with that, Kyle. I walk away with a bunch of money. It's where you can manipulate the line and or. You can buy points. But two teams have to do it. So like,
Starting point is 01:41:16 for instance, the bills were eight point favorites. Okay. You buy to five. No, you don't buy to five, Kyle. You get like six or seven points in the teaser,
Starting point is 01:41:25 depending on how much you buy. Okay. So that manipulates the line down to a pick-em, and the same thing for San Francisco. So it's two winners, but both have to win. So I'm sweating because I had a huge bet on the Niners. But the bottom line is the Niners are a team you can trust, even when they came out and didn't play great defensively.
Starting point is 01:41:44 And I think the Rams are doing a really nice job. McPhays, a hell of a coach. Rams look great. They just can't stop the run. They just look great on offense. I love to see Stafford slinging it around. Yeah. It's like vintage.
Starting point is 01:41:54 It's funny. I talk to Jay, and I've been waiting on Stafford's demise. not like awaiting it because I love Stafford like I identify like in my head that's a quarterback that I can identify with like man this guy's on shitty teams all the time I feel for this guy you know like I've always rooted for the guy when he when he got that Super Bowl I was like great for him great for Aaron Donald but I've been waiting for the bottom to fall out and I asked Jay like how long he thinks he can play and Cutler was like dude with the arm he has his arm talent's just going to extend his game so you know you look at the contract
Starting point is 01:42:27 You feel a lot better about that contract. You know, seeing him come out like this because it's not going anywhere. Yeah. He's going to be there a little bit. But I don't think the Rams are like for real, for real, but they're, they're frisky because of their coach. Is that all the games? Okay. That was great.
Starting point is 01:42:44 I'm hungry. Little Caesars is a mainstay on game day here at Greenlight. We order online one hour before NFL games during Little Caesars pizza, pizza, pre-games. So we're ready for some football. football and fun. It's a pizza pizza win. And you can win too by choosing your favorite Little Caesars pizza or customizing your favorite Little Caesars toppings and then ordering and using Little Caesars. Convenient delivery or our in-store pizza portal pickup. Dabot doesn't like the portal. I bet you like this portal. So on game day, order from Little Caesars, meet up with your buddies
Starting point is 01:43:22 and enjoy a few slices during the tastiest hour before kickoff. Little Cesar. the official pizza sponsor of the NFL. Say it with me, Kyle. Pizza, pizza. Pizza, pizza. Give me my theme music. Yeah, exactly. Mentions, Kyle, mentions, and let's get out of here.
Starting point is 01:43:42 Got some mentions. I'm tired of doing football. I've been doing football for 24 hours, Kyle. That was fun, though, that little recap. That was a fun live. Yeah. What do you think, people in the chat? We're live.
Starting point is 01:43:52 You liking it? Chat's loving it. You loving it? We love you. Look at us. fucking as Chad Johnson would say, I fucking love you. Shout out to all the guys behind the desk as well.
Starting point is 01:44:01 Yeah. The guys behind the desk are slaying it this morning. Really getting after it. Kyle, they're going to love you now. What's that? Matt's back there like, I'm going to hug him after that.
Starting point is 01:44:10 Yeah, exactly. I can tell. I can kick off the mentions here. Yeah, do it. Right? Yeah. I'll start with the best flight. Yeah, okay.
Starting point is 01:44:19 Miami Dolphins. Yeah. Me? I like flying back to Miami. I've never flown back to Miami. But I like flying to Miami. I would imagine that after a big win, you know, Mike McDaniel, he's got the potentially the vape rolling.
Starting point is 01:44:33 Let me wig here, Kyle. You're wagging I'm wiggin. Okay. Okay. I'm sure McDaniel's got the vape rolling. And maybe he'd get the smoke detectors on the plane turned off on like me on the way back from the double doint game where I got a stern talking to from my guy Dom.
Starting point is 01:44:48 Did you know this story? No. Oh, I think I told it on the Julian Edelman podcast. Are you vaping on the plane? Yeah, everybody vapes on the plane, Kyle. You got to ghost it, bro. No, I was ghosting it player. Here's the thing.
Starting point is 01:45:00 Back in the back, you're like, ah, these smoke detectors don't work. Go back to my seat. It's like one in the morning. All of a sudden, it's like, and I go like this with my blanket. I just go. The problem was I went in the bathroom,
Starting point is 01:45:13 and it was like a delayed thing. So I sat down and I tried to get under the blanket and Dom comes right back to my seat. And he's like, hey, get it together. Like, nobody can hear it up front, but I hear it. Yeah. Thank God.
Starting point is 01:45:24 Anyways, definitely McDaniels vaping on the way home. Get it together. Get it together, man. I don't know why I just sloshed in my chair. That's what I was doing on the plane. But that's a late arrival, man. You know, like club space is open, but where are we going? Yeah, I mean, where else?
Starting point is 01:45:38 But Miami, would you be able to get off the plane after that game? East St. Louis. Yeah, East St. Louis. The FBI and East St. Louis. Oakland. Brooklyn, Illinois. Rest in peace, Oakland. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:45:48 In Miami. Okay. Well, Atlanta, too. Atlanta had, those guys had a great afternoon. They get a one p.m. I'm about allowed in Atlanta. They get a 1 p.m. really? They get a 1 p.m.
Starting point is 01:45:57 Then they're at Magic City or whatever they're doing. Or they're in Buckhead having fun. Okay, the best flight for me, Kyle, is Seattle. I just love to be on a flight home with Pete Carroll. He's back there walking through the aisles, chewing gum, hard as shit. Hey, great play. Slaping the shit out of your thigh. Like, there's nothing better than on a flight home when the coach comes back.
Starting point is 01:46:18 Leans on your section. Leans on your car. Oh, is he going to lean on my section? And you look at your boy and you're like, yeah. Oh, he's going to lean a guy. He's going to lead on our section. He's been looking at the All-22. He saw my play.
Starting point is 01:46:29 He saw my play. Yeah. You know, like, or the times where you're like... And he pretends like he didn't watch the film. Oh, yeah. Yeah. But he's a heck. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:46:36 Treat you guys to some hogging. Yeah. And the worst is when you're like so hopeful for that good interaction where you get all tingly, you know, you're just like, yes the coach. And he walks right by you. And he walks right by me to the rookie D.N. Good rushes, Derek. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:46:49 I'm like, who do you think? Oh, well, never mind, coach. Trying to have the best flight. I think Seattle had the best flight, especially after last week. Worst flights got to be coming home from Tampa Bay on a most likely silent. Silent. I can hear that flight right now. I'm not saying they flew on an electric airplane.
Starting point is 01:47:05 What I'm saying is there was engine noise, but that's all you heard. It was just, that's all you heard. And the inner thoughts, the inner thoughts, the Chicago Bears, the entire roster, they're tired of it. I heard Jay Johnson talk about it yesterday. He said, I've been here for a little bit now, and I don't know what to think. I'm tired of this shit. if there's anybody I can relate to a Tim post game, uh,
Starting point is 01:47:27 worst flight Chicago Bay. Also, I, I played in so many of those games. And you got to go to that brand new facility tomorrow. I played in so many of those games, Kyle, you said, I told you,
Starting point is 01:47:35 it reminds me of like St. Louis where you go down, there's a team that's beatable. It's hot. They're physical. They beat you up. And then you're on the flight home just like, dehydrated,
Starting point is 01:47:46 probably drunk because you're like, I can't. You haven't peed all day. You haven't peed all day. You haven't peed all day. There's no pee. The urine's gone. and you're just like baking on the plane.
Starting point is 01:47:56 And so I agree with you, Kyle. I would have probably picked them as well, but I can go with the Chargers. Chargers had a terrible flight. Take your pick, the Raiders, the Chargers. I don't know. From the back of the room, who do you think we should give it to?
Starting point is 01:48:07 The Raiders are the Chargers or the Chargers? It's definitely Chargers. When you go into worst flight, you always have to take, okay, like I was on the turbulence map last night, about two in the morning. There wasn't any turbulence on either flight. Turbulous map.
Starting point is 01:48:18 Yeah, it's turby.com, two eyes. So I get on it all. all the time when I'm like, here comes the turbulence over Atlanta. Maybe it'll happen this time. So anyways, it will make a joke. But, but, you know, like the difference is the charges expected to be something. The Raiders don't really expect to be anything and that flight's got to be terrible. Fly on the wall.
Starting point is 01:48:43 What did Norvellian Prime say? If anybody knows, I need to know. Because I lived for that shit. I almost made it to the end of the game, but couldn't catch the. the conversation. Yeah, I'd imagine that would be some words that cut. What are those? No, I think if I had a guess.
Starting point is 01:49:02 You think it was diffused, squashed all that. I do. I do think it's a few. I'm coming out there. Judging by body language in the way it ended. And I hated, I hated all the cheap shots. I hated it. I hated the way that, even the way that D. Lyman brought Sanders to the ground. I mean, he speared him. He tried to brain him. That's what we call braining somebody.
Starting point is 01:49:20 And Travis Hunter. braining in the NFL. Travis Hunter out four weeks with a lacerated liver. And anybody who tries to brain somebody doesn't belong on, you know what I mean? Yeah, that was cheap, man. It was cheap. When you got LeBron, it was funny.
Starting point is 01:49:32 Somebody was like, do you think LeBron would come back and play for Colorado? I'm like, not after that play. Coach, we got to cool it. They're braining people on the sideline. I got to fucking go out and play for 48 minutes. It's like a cringe-inducing phrase. Like braining somebody, it's like, oh, dude. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:49:46 So for me, fly on the wall, the Cardinals owner Michael Bidwell in his suite when they are. What are we doing? when they're winning. Again. What are we doing? Not according to plan. That's my flying on the while.
Starting point is 01:49:58 I'd love to know. Did he use his cell phone? Did he use the landline? Did he write an email to an ops guy on the sideline that says, pull their headsets or something? You know he's got his pilot's license? What if he just landed his Cessna? Very cool.
Starting point is 01:50:12 Yeah. What do you think he flies? He's like, we got to put it just like probably a nice plane. He'd have to get in the Cessna to land during two minute drive. That's goals, though. be able to watch your team play after flying to a game. I know they're at home, but. Oh, when the owners get on their smaller big planes,
Starting point is 01:50:28 and we get on the bigger, big plane, they don't feel any turbulence. They're at 40,000 feet. Okay, Hollow Man. Yep. Who should we give the Hollow Man this week? I'm going to give a conjoined twin Hollow Man to Lou Gezzi and Justin Fields. You're giving him a, is Getsy coming out of Justin Field's stomach, like total recall?
Starting point is 01:50:47 It's not good. It's not good. All bad. People are saying it's bad. Some of the worst, some of the worst offense we can only get Shane Gillison here to do his invitation. I mean, again, the funny. Abu. Bakari.
Starting point is 01:51:02 Don't cry, Abu. The Chicago Bears are dead. It's a very sad day. You jacked me off. Fuck you. All right. Anyways. Yeah, Hollow Man.
Starting point is 01:51:16 Conjoin twin. Conjoin. Total reekball. Justin Fields. Luke Getsey. Three-tiny Hollow Man. Luke Lugetchi's like,
Starting point is 01:51:26 No, divine runs. That's what I got. By the way, Total Recall is a wicked good time, Kyle. I watched it last year, flew of 22.
Starting point is 01:51:39 Oh, it was incredible. That's what Gino said when he saw Aaron Donald, Week 1. When the glass broke and all the deformed people were like,
Starting point is 01:51:47 I can go outside. It's dumb. It's so different. All right. Hollow Man, I don't know who to give it to. Guys, I think I was slacking on my pimping here. Give it to your internet provider. Oh, yeah, give it to the internet provider or me,
Starting point is 01:52:01 Hollow Man, me. Bevel Conway Award, the Atlanta throwbacks, the Jets, Cowboys game look beautiful. I never like watching a game in Dallas. It doesn't agree with my visual palette. But the green with the blue, perfect matchup.
Starting point is 01:52:18 And then Jags Chiefs, Electric, But here's the Bebble Conway, Kyle. You mentioned it. The Patriots. The Patriots home game. Just the game in general. But they're playing a blue team. They're red team.
Starting point is 01:52:32 I like that red blue thing. It's like Halo. Red versus blue. The anti-Bevil Conway's BCFSU. I wouldn't watch it if they were one and two in the country and I had $10,000 on it, Kyle. Yeah. This weekend it was evidently close. But it's just that gold and maroon.
Starting point is 01:52:46 This is the opposite. Like really high-deaf colors, night game. And the Patriots spelled out on the back wall there. You got the minute men. It was beautiful. See, don't say, and don't say anything nice about the Patriots. All you guys from Braintree,
Starting point is 01:53:02 what about the paths in my DMs? Well, I just talked about your team. I was rooting very hard for those guys to go down there, and we talked about it, but it was a first down. Yeah, I thought Cole Stranger might have had it. It was a girth first. It was a girthy first. Might have had it.
Starting point is 01:53:15 But that's the thing. It's like, if he might have had it, if he might have had it, Arthur Smith even, you know, but if he might have had it, you know, then probably don't overturn the call. But anyways, we've got best seat in the house. I think, I didn't get to do it as well, Miami and. I think, I think, I think Tom Brady watching the Jets game because some news was pushed out. Here we go again. Where he was like, he is a minority owner, but like there's some loophole that he could play. He's not an owner yet.
Starting point is 01:53:50 an owner yet. And he's not a minority. He's definitely a white guy. He's looking whiter than he's ever looked. He's a white suburban dad to a T. But he is a minority owner of or in the process of being a minority owner of the Raiders, which doesn't look so good. Maybe you're like, hey, that paperwork, maybe lose that.
Starting point is 01:54:11 He's up there with Mark Davis and Mark's bowl cut and what the fuck is going on? A lot going on in Vegas. We don't lose the bills. So I think like watching the Jets game and, knowing they're going to talk about it, you know, Brady again for a month. I'd say fly on the wall, Tom Brady. For me, the fly on the wall or the, no, we're doing best seat in the house now, right? Yeah, best seat in the house.
Starting point is 01:54:33 Formerly viewing party. Sounds too much like a funeral. Yeah, you're right. And for me, the best seat in the house would be living in the GMT time zone on Saturday night and attending the CUCSU game at Folsom Field. I was on Zillow Boulder. Yeah. I mean,
Starting point is 01:54:52 there, guys, you want to move to Boulder? Let's do it, dude. I get, I'm in. I'm in.
Starting point is 01:54:59 But that is my best seat in the house. Imagine being 19, 20 years old, 21, so you can responsibly enjoy. Imagine being 38. I just think about games. Buying grass legally.
Starting point is 01:55:12 I think about, and work with me here. Stick with me here. I'm with you. So I go to a one o'clock UVA game. And I'm a high schooler. 18 years old. Chris is getting sacks at UVA.
Starting point is 01:55:22 There's time between the end of that game, which falls in the 3.30, 4 o'clock window. There's a potential nap between going out. Those are often when heroes lose sight of the mission and they stay in their enclosures. If you're in Boulder and you get to watch that game with the way that it ended, you get to go straight downtown.
Starting point is 01:55:49 Yes. And it's like prime time. It's only one in the morning out there. You go primetime football to primetime act. No, that's pretty awesome. The act should have to be. The attic axed had to be crazy. It was snowing in Colorado.
Starting point is 01:56:03 I'm looking at Boulder. I'm just saying, look out Charlottesville. Early for snow, isn't it? Charlottesville was a little fat and happy. Oh, we're just the best. You know, like nobody's going to move to Boulder. I'm going to take the whole town with it. They did that at Oregon, too, where we'd play and it would be like,
Starting point is 01:56:16 Shower as quickly as you can, I will meet you at Taylor. We really? Yeah. Oh, yeah. We used to go dirty hell. It's like the United Nations. Okay. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:56:25 And some guys are taking shower pills, but it's all good. So anyways, I think, you know, wouldn't it be funny if we just totally rode Boulder's coat tails and we were like, oh, this looks good out there. Let's make the podcast like a Colorado podcast. We've accessed. And then they get banned for allegations that come out after this year. Then I got to move back here. or moved down to what's that Texas school that had a bunch of transfers.
Starting point is 01:56:50 Texas State. Yeah, Texas State. We're going to do a Texas State podcast. So we're doing SDM memorial. I'll give one out in college. I'll give one out in the pros. And the pros, Mike Evans, consummate professional, you know, whoever's throwing in the ball. It doesn't matter.
Starting point is 01:57:04 He said before the season, I'm still gunning to make history. Like I'm trying to do all the things I'm trying to do. I'm not making noise about Baker-Mayfield, nothing. This team's going to suck. No, it's not. because I'm going to fucking push off and bully people and run diagonally across the field looking like slender man out there.
Starting point is 01:57:19 He's eight feet taller than everybody else. Making tough catches on the sideline. You know, getting two feet down. I'm not done spinning the whole thing. Baker off his back foot. Like, just he makes Baker right. And Baker was fun. I'll throw him in here too.
Starting point is 01:57:32 Like Baker's the chaotic good Baker right now where it's like, yeah, he almost threw brisk or a pick. But it's like when Gardner Minshu's great and we all love rooting for him. It reminds me of what Baker looks like right now. Oh yeah, I can't wait to watch. Yeah, and at some week it might turn,
Starting point is 01:57:47 but Mike Evans, STL Memorial Award. I don't know that too many people watching that game. And the last one, the kicker for Colorado State, okay, this guy's name, give me a moment, is Jordan Noyes. He's from Kent England. He's 511-195, the most important stat line. He's got three kids.
Starting point is 01:58:08 Yeah. Okay, so this guy's got a full family out and he's worried about making kicks. He's been putting it through the uprights for quite some time. Yeah, no question. UVA has a guy who's like 30-something years old. It's a sex job. I got it.
Starting point is 01:58:21 Thank you. Yeah. Guys got a good kicking percentage. After you have three kids, you know, they don't run the field goal team out there as much. So especially if you're from England out there in, where's Colorado? Where's Colorado? Colorado Springs. You sure it's?
Starting point is 01:58:41 Fort Collins? Fort Collins. Poor Collins. Air Force is Colorado Spring, right? I don't know. It's one of the Colorado schools, but they only had an hour drive back. All right, so those are my STL memorials.
Starting point is 01:58:53 We've got game ball. I got to do an SDL. Oh, yeah, go ahead. The Packers' offensive line. The Packers' offensive line, we've talked about Jordan Love. We've talked about their defense. We talked about the running game.
Starting point is 01:59:02 Boxieri down. But the O line, lowest pressure rate in the NFL through two weeks. Jenkins down. I think it's an important stat, though. No question. That's LaFleur. Yeah. That's a lot more of the floor than it is who.
Starting point is 01:59:15 Yeah. It's more what they're doing. Yeah, it's, but it's, it's, uh, X's and O's not the jimmies and Joe's. But the jimmies and Joe's are playing well. I mean, those guys stepped up. The inverse of our usual rule. Exactly.
Starting point is 01:59:25 Uh, game ball. I mean, if we had to give a game ball. Chris Jones. It's Chris Jones. Welcome back, big dog. It's, Zach Nation. CJ 95.
Starting point is 01:59:36 You give it to Chris Jones. I'll give it to Gino. Great job, Gino. Yeah. I love seeing his career arc, man. He took that bad sack and bounced right back. He ran 60 yards on that play. And there's no gimmicks.
Starting point is 01:59:48 It's not like, hey, listen, he's got great weapons, but I don't think the scheme's, like, incredible. He's just slinging it. I think he's making great throws, man. Asshole of the week, whoever probably turned off. It's Nate from the hospital. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Nate admitted he said hand up.
Starting point is 02:00:03 I was at the hospital logged on. Facy from Colorado State. Yep, absolutely. Shot at Travis Hunter. Yeah, that's a big asshole the week. Yep. That was late. What do you guys got for Monday night tonight?
Starting point is 02:00:14 We've got Carolina, or New Orleans at Carolina and the Browns at Pittsburgh. That New Orleans Carolina game, Carolina is getting three points, 39 and a half. The total, it's 715 kickoff, and Cleveland is giving two points to Pittsburgh, 38 and a half an hour later. I got Cleveland winning even with that line. I think Cleveland's going to bully them. I think they're built front to back on that roster, both sides of the ball. And then as it goes for Carolina, I know Derek's going to throw the ball.
Starting point is 02:00:46 So I think Brian Burns maybe he's going to get another second half. Here's a teaser you could try. Carolina Pittsburgh, the Wagg special. You're wigan, I'm wagging. And I kind of, I think the Saints are in a bit of a weird spot. Like I kind of want to know who they are in this week. We'll find out just because you get a bigger sample size division opponent. And a team that on paper, like maybe they should beat.
Starting point is 02:01:10 but the matchups that I don't like, Trevor Penning on whoever he's going to be blocking, Brian Burns, you know, the Saints have got to be, they got to generate more pass rush. They can't just manufacture it all. Guys have to win.
Starting point is 02:01:24 And then I think the Steelers hang in. I'm just going to stay with it. Nobody's, the line's three points. That should tell you something. The Brown's hot off a team that they beat all the time, right? Deshawn didn't look great.
Starting point is 02:01:38 They caved it in the run game. The Steelers, a game where they just laid an egg. You've got Hayward out. This is a Ty Condoroga special, Kyle, for Mike Tomlin. Mike Tomlin's, he's out there with his back against the wall. I don't know how far north Pittsburgh is or Cleveland is, but one of these teams wants to be moving north.
