We used to say the first quarter is over after week four.
Hard to say that now with the math not checking out, but boy, the first quarter flew by, dude.
Where did it go?
Man, quick.
I kind of wanted to speed up a little bit with the way some of my bets went yesterday.
Yeah.
I'm the poster child for why you shouldn't gamble in the 4 p.m. window.
that two-point conversion
that the Raiders made.
Yeah.
That was like the absolute low point of my day yesterday.
And I just think about people
for that pick six in the Giants game.
Oh my God, dude.
I just...
Now I had the Cardinals.
I had the Cardinals.
And I thought that...
I thought he was going to be a respectable player, maybe...
And get down.
But I had the Cardinals laying two
when I got it.
So I hadn't watched the game
because there's other games on.
And when we pan over to that screen,
it reads like,
oh, the Cardinals got a chance to win it.
I glanced at the score.
I'm like, I don't give it to fuck.
They can win it.
They can lose it.
It doesn't matter to me.
Then they throw a pick,
and the guy doesn't get down,
and I'm like, good for him.
Then I look at my sheet,
and I see I got the Cardinals in a teaser
plus six and a half.
It's like, good for him, bad for me.
But still good for him.
Because,
gambling carries risks
ladies and gentlemen
I want to let you guys know

best practices
you know like when you want to get like I'm like
fuck all that dude I'm going to lose my mind
trying to watch that amount of football
by 1 p.m. every week so I hope you guys
don't mind the 2.30 start we do this almost every year
we try to do the 1 p.m. start and then we're like yeah this doesn't make any sense
230 is our best practice 2.30 is our best practice
both said rude
And shout out to RHCP Fan21 in the chat who hit us with
Time Change Segment Rearrange, Magic Like Doctor Strange,
podcast that has range, Dealing Takes like the New York Stock Exchange.
Oh, that's pretty good.
Nice.
That's pretty good.
I suppose you're Red Hot Chili Fevers fan.
That's what that acronym is.
Yeah, yes.
Yes, that's my friend.
Yep.
Yeah.
Anthony Kitas.
That sounds like some Anthony Kitas mumbo jumbo to me.
Shout out to Philly, friend of the program many years ago.
Okay, so we got a lot to get to.
I mean, like, there was some ugly losses yesterday.
I know that Philly fans are going to want to hear from your boy on what happened.
And I don't think you're going to like what I have to say.
Ooh.
I want to start with something that makes me happy, though, Sunday night football.
Not real happy that the Detroit team totally didn't hit.
I promise I won't talk to you about any more gambling woes.
But I'm very happy about Bryce Young playing as good as, I mean, anybody right now.
I mean, like, I don't know that anybody's playing better.
Like, I don't know that anybody's playing better.
I know it's not going to last.
I know at some point somebody's going to play better.
I know last week he didn't play his best game against Cleveland,
but as an aggregate all season long, the guys played great.
I mean, if you were to take, you know, who are the five, six best performing
quarterbacks this year he's in that group he's in that group for sure and uh i think last night was a
perfect example of this guy idzick has a chance to be we were on the ride over talking about you know
like who's going to coach the jets next who's going to and of all the you know the deckland doyles
and you know the the david blouse and you know uh so on and so forth um i really do i'm
the most impressed with what brad idzick has done for this this offense to start
the season. I think that he's just elevated him. He's completely elevated him. He's made the passing
attack more aggressive. I thought last night, you know, Dan Campbell talked about it after the game.
The RPO's were like a big part of it. And it can be really frustrating for a defense when you've
got a quarterback that can make those quick decisions, a la like a Tua in Miami, right? But the
difference is Bryce can can make plays off schedule. As much as you hold your breath,
for the little guy when he leaves the pocket every time,
like he finds a way not to get absolutely killed out there.
And he delivers a beautiful ball in the run.
I just thought this was...
Chris Collinsworth said it best last night.
Bryce Young was finding crevices all night.
Put the ball in the crevice.
It's a game of inches, they say.
I'm like, damn, dude.
You got to find those crevices.
Got to find the crevice.
But he was, and it was frustrating.
And, you know, I saw a stat today about nobody facing more quick, quick pressure on the season than Bryce Young in the NFL.
And you wouldn't know it by looking at the numbers and watching him throw the football.
So, you know, I think this was just, you knew you were going to have to outscore Detroit.
This wasn't going to be a game with a lot of defense, right?
And we can talk about Detroit's secondary and how it got there.
I think I'm going to put some time aside on Wednesday for Detroit fans.
Like, you're actually going to get away with one on this show.
Usually you're like, whenever I don't talk about you enough,
Detroit fans are always quick to remind me,
hey, you didn't talk about it as enough.
You're getting away with one today.
I'm going to do a deeper dive on your secondary on Wednesday
because you just, I need to devote more time than 30 minutes looking at the tape.
I think part of it is they've had to rely on some veterans in the secondary.
Like they've had, Brad Holmes never,
Brad Holmes was not, he didn't have it on his bingo card that Terry and Arnold was going to like,
do a home invasion.
You know, the Kirby Joseph thing is,
it's a freak outcome.
You don't see that a lot where a guy's career is in jeopardy.
Having said that, though, you know,
some of the band-aids they've thrown at this thing
just haven't worked out.
And they're playing less man coverage
than they did last year, and I get the whole thing.
And yada, yada, yada, but it is not a good group on the back end.
And Calvin Shepard's just not able to get control of this thing.
I mean, there were guys last night.
Ted Bigmillon went for what?
What did he go for like 150?
190 something?
192 maybe?
14 or 17?
That's a high school stat line.
Yeah, he's on my fantasy team.
Good for you.
Was the game in the balance?
Say it again?
Was the game in the balance for you, your fantasy game?
Oh, it's not.
He basically won you the...
He did.
And you're thinking about sitting Bijon tonight
because you can only lose yards.
I'm dead.
I'm currently beating Tanner by like 1.8 points right now.
And so if I,
the only person I have left in the game for this week is Bijan.
So I'm thinking about pulling a kind of a,
I'm thinking a Bush League move.
I don't know if this is Bush League or if it's just coaching.
That's a moneyball move right there.
As the commissioner of the league, I would be sad to see that happen.
Are there any tie breaks that happen?
Are there any tie breaks that happen on total points?
You have to think about total points.
Yeah.
The chances of him going for 40 fantasy points are higher than the chances of him going for negative five.
Did I see Cade Ellis is out tonight?
That is very true.
But like just my luck, he'll get the ball, he'll fumble and be out for their whole game.
And like, there you go.
Something like that happens.
But Panthers fans are like, yo, we won a big game on Sunday night football.
And you're not talking enough about us.
You're right.
No, that is true.
The Ted McMillan catch on the sideline at the end of that football game where Izzy and I think it was Izzy in.
comes down on his foot and kind of forces that that foot onto the turf i still think he probably
gets two feet down but just like that play to me it's not only the backbreaker it didn't ultimately
i mean they they end up having a chance at the thing but like that play encapsulated how
dangerous they are right now especially when you consider the fact that cocker's down and detroit
couldn't take them away and that says something about detroit's ineptitude for sure i was going to
you, is it, are you more impressed with the Panthers winning this or Detroit finding the way
to lose in a game like this?
It's a little of both.
I mean, you know, Detroit every week is going to make some quarterback look good.
And if a quarterback doesn't look good against Detroit, it's more of a red flag.
But when he looks like the guy that Bryce looked like last night, you know, you could also
say, hey, Detroit's secondary's ass, but they were down Coker.
And it's not like they have a bunch of guys beyond their number one and number two options.
and they're down three offensive linemen by the end of the game when Freeling leaves the game.
So I came into the season and said, hey, this offensive line is going to get Bryce killed.
But he's finding a way to get the ball out and Idzik's finding a way to keep teams on their toes to where he's just not getting murdered back there.
And a credit to Edzick is, and something you saw last night was being able to move Ted McMillard around the formation.
Yeah.
This season, 195 snaps aligned out wide, 98 on the left, 97 on the right.
And he's also played about 25% of his snaps from the slot too.
So they're doing a great job hunting matchup.
So, you know, you talk about it when it's like,
how do you take a guy away?
Well, it's pretty simple if he plays in one spot.
Yep.
But, you know, the creativity would be able to move him around.
And also credit to the player being able to play outside,
playing the slot, the whole thing.
I just think what they've done offensively has been great.
And I got a shout out.
I'm shouting out the little prince in Bryce Young,
but how about the big prince?
Princely, Uman Mielan with a big sack at the end of the game.
You know, I thought this year was scorting being down,
like he had to take a step up.
He's done that.
Just a big, big win for the Panthers.
And that division, we were talking about on the way over,
like gun to your head, who wins that division.
Boom, you're dead, dude, because I have no idea.
Like, honestly, I could see Atlanta winning it
the way they looked the other night.
For sure.
I mean, like, Atlanta's one of those, hey, you're a quarterback away kind of teams.
And I don't want to jump out of the gym off of one Michael Penn
outings, yeah. But, you know, the things they did to the Packers in the run game, and the Packers
were good run-run defense going into that football game. And at that point, they were two and,
or one-in-one, I don't know what they were one-in-one. Packers are two-and-two as bad as they've
looked. But, you know, being able to gash them the way they did on the ground. And then
Stefanski, I understand, like last year, I'm going to be honest. I thought, you know,
Shadur Sanders had so many fans that were just one.
wanted Shadour to play well that somebody had to get the blame.
And Stafansky kind of got the blame.
And whether or not he didn't help Chador take that next step
or whatever happened there,
Stefansky's got a reputation in this league.
I mean, he's been a good offensive play caller before.
I mean, he won the Cleveland Browns,
the last playoff game they won.
It was Kevin Stifansky.
And so I think people kind of undervalued him coming into Atlanta.
and I'm not saying that, you know,
every night's going to look like the other night.
Tonight we'll see.
But the NFC South is truly wide open.
You could see this Carolina team winning it.
They had some big stops in plus territory
where, you know, they're not a great red zone defense,
if I'm not mistaken.
But, and honestly, I think Detroit went three or four in the red zone.
Dan's got to kick that ball.
I understand, like, going on fourth and eight or fourth and ten.
But if you kick that field goal,
at the end of the game, you need a field goal, not a touchdown.
Enough with that fourth down stuff.
You know, and when it's fourth and 20 after multiple penalties, man,
I just don't get it.
So, you know, as much I want to, like, listen,
I could put this game on Dan Campbell in that one decision.
But the defense at this point is it's almost on,
they're unplayable.
It's almost like you'd be better off just skipping that portion.
Before we get out of here,
I just want to throw some props to Chuba Hubbard.
a fantastic game.
And it's getting to that point of the season where it's going to start getting cold.
So teams, you already know, like, if you could run the rock getting into the later part
of October, getting it well, getting your offensive line together, getting your moneyball
plays that you know you're going to hit for three to four yards.
And if you could get a guy like Chuba Hubbard going and rolling downhill, like this team,
that's going to help them out tremendously.
and the fact that, like you said,
Bryce is mobile.
You got a running back that is capable like Chuba.
And now Tet is showing up as like a true, like,
wide receiver one right now.
That offense, they got some stuff.
And if they stop a few leaks on defense,
they make enough plays where,
just like you said,
they're a team you don't want to play.
Dude, I think in a year the Panthers are going to be really good.
And I think they're good right now.
I'm not putting a ceiling on them.
I'm not doing this whole thing.
But like I just coming to the season,
I thought the offensive line was too poor.
And now you lose Mike Jackson and you lose J.C. Horn.
These are big losses that the lions, honestly,
we're able to take advantage of,
but not to the degree of putting the points on the board
when they mattered.
And honestly, to Carolina's credit,
they took the wrong game away.
They did.
And they played the game on their script
where it just felt like, hey, we can't just feed Gibbs.
You know, you're getting that, like,
Chief's game,
which we're going to talk about in a little bit.
You know, Kenneth Walker ends the day with 178 yards or whatever on the ground,
but, like, there's really two big runs.
Most of the day is, like, three, four yards in a cloud of dust.
And you're able to stick to it and hope that a long run breaks in a close ballgame like that.
It just felt like to me Detroit had to abandon the run game to a degree.
And I don't blame them.
You know, their defense puts them in terrible spots.
Um,
Kiddly's raccoon.
Did he play last night?
What?
Here's the only question I have.
And this is like a, this is a question and I'll ask it on Wednesday.
Um, and maybe the lions don't have the cap space.
I think they actually have the cap space.
Um, maybe they don't have the draft capital.
I don't know, like Brad Holmes up and down on cornerback, um, analysis.
But JPJ was out there.
You know, the, the, the,
Cowboys end up with him.
You know, you like playing man coverage.
You like playing press man.
You like being aggressive.
They let Amique Robertson walk, which to me is a big deal.
Like, and again, like I'm talking about the game right now on Wednesday.
We're going to a deeper dive.
But like to me, that dude, and he's playing really well for Washington.
He's one of my favorite, most underrated players in the league.
He's able to be physical on ball without drawing a bunch of flags.
There were plays like that yesterday in the international game.
you let him walk you don't you don't you're not aggressive in the pursuit of a replacement
uh for terrian arnold um you kind of walked into the season and you thought mccreary could play
you know you got different guys that you're kind of hope is not a strategy out there and i feel
like detroit for detroit and we went to camp and like we heard the i talked to the guys there and
you know you hear the the you know the rosy colored glasses outlook on what their defense
could be, but it was all like speculative on the, on the back end. And hope is not a strategy.
And here you are where it's like, hey, your offense is pretty good. People wanted to run
petting out of town for some reason after the first couple games. They're okay offensively.
They're always going to have the shortcomings they have. But man, the Panthers diced them up last
night. And so good on Bryce, Ice Young. And, and a big win for Canales and Edzick and Young.
So just a big win.
And lions, they never say die.
I'll give them that.
They've been in some games this year.
Like that Buffalo game, they end up in the second half down a score.
And you're like, how do we get here?
Same thing last night.
You have a chance at the end of the football game, but it's not sustainable.
Okay.
Now time for the game of the week.
My two old teams, the, I would say Chris Longbowl, but it's not really.
That's a self-important thing to say.
It's not.
It's just for me, it's never easy when your two former teams face off,
and then you've got to analyze the thing the day after.
I'm just, I got notes.
Whose fault is it, Chris?
Whose fault?
The players are the coaches.
Players are the coaches.
That's what we want to know.
I got notes here, but I'm going to try to go no notes.
First thing I'll say is this.
I'll take it from the Ram side of things.
Like, you almost lost to a team.
that converted one money down on the day.
One money down.
It was a fourth down to Lemon, I think.
That was it.
You lost to a team that during the week
lost their number one wide receiver.
You almost lost.
Sometimes it feels like they lost this game.
Number one wide receiver down.
You lose your Mike linebacker.
The game starts.
You lose before the game.
day of the game, you're starting right tackle, who's the best past protecting tackle you have
and like, people are going to want me to speak on this. He's my personal friend. I'm not going to do
it. I'm not going to talk out of school about somebody's personal issues. That's Lane's job.
That's Lane's opportunity. At some point, you'll hear from Lane. And it hurts me to watch a
buddy go through this, but he wasn't available. And it hurt him.
It did.
Not just him not being available, but the timing.
You know, you can't elevate anybody at that point.
And, you know, to put the ball in Howie Roseman's court there, the backup right tackle is not ready.
And he doesn't look like a third rounder.
So I'm just going to, listen, he's a big kid.
I know like you've gotten used to these nailing the Jordan Milata.
unorthodox big bodies you'll turn them into athletes my lotta was an athlete
this guy's not an athlete to that degree he he really i i don't imagine that any at any point in
his nfl career he's going to be able to bend you know it's just not going to happen so it's a
big deal being down lane johnson you lose sayquan barclay as the game goes um you you lose i mean
shit the list goes on let me see what else i got to go to my notes here because there were so
Drew Kendall eventually.
You lose Bigsby eventually.
You lose Quignan Mitchell during the game.
That's a huge one.
So the Rams who are down Aaron Donald, who are down Miles Garrett, these are realities,
who are down Parkinson and Ferguson.
I know Rams fans are saying we had injuries too, and you did.
And if you lost, I would have talked about these, and I am now.
In the rain, you have to pivot to playing more of an 11 personnel game,
which is not what you wanted to do.
You wanted to come in in 13.
You wanted to hit the tight ends.
You wanted to get the Eagles heavy.
You want to pound the football.
You want to go play action.
You couldn't do that.
But having said that, there's no excuse for almost losing that game to what the team on the field yesterday is not a good football team.
The defense played valiantly for the Eagles, and we'll talk about that.
But for the Rams, you're flying way too close to the sun.
And if they lose that game, it is hard for them to get back in the race in the NFC well.
but this was a huge, huge sequence for them to finish the game on top.
Stafford played poorly.
He played poorly.
He put the ball right on Devante Adams' hands and double coverage in the first half.
He drops the ball.
But Stafford missed a lot of throws, right?
He missed a lot of throws.
The pick before the half was terrible.
You fuck up the middle eight.
I talk about the four minutes before the half, the four minutes after.
you're bad out of the half for the second week in a row offensively for for shaw mcvay and company
but you still find a way to win that game that says something about their championship pedigree it
does say something about having guys that have made deep runs it says something about the mental
toughness of that team and and you talk about like being in the NFL the reality on Monday is so
different based on one or two plays and
And just being able to pull that game out at the end of the game was, I mean, it saved their season.
Yeah, I don't want to make it too big a deal, but it was a season.
Especially considering that monkeys on their back, they haven't been able to beat the Eagles.
In games where I thought they'd beat the Eagles, like last year, Eagles had no business beating them.
They let them back in that game.
And you got to think about it, like the Rams had been, listen, the year the Eagles were the Monstars in 24, they took them to the,
to the edge, you know, and if not for Jalen Carter,
making that play, which I think is one of the biggest plays
in Eagles history, it's, they probably win that game.
So this was a big game mentally, pragmatically, the whole thing.
The special teams were terrible.
I mean, the special teams, again, I mean, how many times during the broadcast
yesterday am I sitting there?
I'm going, what could go wrong?
You're going to be able to punt.
What could go wrong?
They're going to punt the ball.
Covey return sets up to short field touchdown,
on miss field goal, Whittington hold on a special teams play.
Mivas kicks it out of bounds, bro.
Like you put me out there, I would kick the ball between the fucking white lines, dude.
But having said all that, the Eagles found a way to lose this game.
And I want to be careful.
They're just not.
I think the window's closing.
I think if the window's not closing, it's closed.
I just like this window
And it closed for
For the Carson Wensled Eagles
And I'm not saying hey
A quarterback change is imminent
There's a lot more in this game
That we'll talk about besides Jalen Hertz
We're not going to do the WIP thing
But I don't think the team's good enough
Right now to compete for a championship
Not even with everybody healthy
It's it's just hard for me to imagine
You can get Devanti back
You can get Sequan back
Sake one's out there in a fucking cowboy collar because he's so jacked up.
And he's popping his hamstring on one of your most successful runs.
You're an outside zone team.
You can't run outside zone.
I would have been running the ball behind Jordan Milata at Stewart and company all day long.
You like those matchups.
You couldn't do that.
You know, Bigsby actually did a good job considering we haven't seen, you know,
extended sample size of him getting the ball since they traded for him.
I actually thought he was pretty good.
I think they need to give them the ball more.
But the offensive line is not going to be fixed.
It's not.
And, you know, I do think Lane's absence made a huge difference in this game.
Shula spammed them with extra rushers on that side.
Spam them.
Put this picture up that I, there's a picture that I found online.
That's Chris Shula and Brian Flores mixed together.
and honestly that's what Chris Shula looked like yesterday
because he blitzed like 75% of the time
it felt like on money downs
and it was just hey you guys have to sort it
there were situations where it was
hey they found ways to be three for two
you know there were some pressures
there was overloads stuff
it just they attacked that side of the offensive line
and Cam Juergens is
not the player he was.
And the thing I want to say about Cam Juergens
and Landon Dickerson and all that stuff is,
these guys, you have to consider from,
you know, you take it for Landon Dickerson,
you draft him knowing that he probably is a shooting star.
He's not going to last 15 years
because of some of the things he has going on physically.
He might be done at some point here.
Cam Jurgens is not done, but he looks like he's done.
These guys ran the ball a million.
million times. The brand of football they played, the four-minute offense, they threw the ball 20
times a game over stretches, where the passing offense was not the centerpiece. And the attrition
that adds up totally throws off the Howie Roseman's schedule for finding more talent, investing
in the offensive line room. It throws off of other position groups, how you invest in those position
groups. So in that right, it's bad luck. I think when you start getting cute with your third-round
and you draft a six-foot-nine tackle
who's a lot of what he does is speculative.
Like, hey, I think he's a developmental piece,
knowing that Lane Johnson's probably done in a year,
especially when Jeff Stoutland leaves the fucking building
and he's not, you lose him as a run game coordinator,
you lose him as an offensive line coach.
Games were killing this group yesterday.
It is not a good offensive line.
Now, having said all that,
it ain't the only bad offensive line in the league.
And at some point, Jalen Hertz has to prove that he hasn't been propped up by an all-world
offensive line and two number one wide receivers outside and a running back that was on the Madden cover.
I'm sorry.
And, you know, I've tried to be as gentle as I can in these situations after games because
I'm perfectly aware of the shit that a quarterback,
has to deal with.
And when you win
and you've delivered on the biggest stages,
I do think that buys you time.
And in Philly, the market is huge.
You got your talk show people.
I try not to be one of those people.
But I don't think he's as good as people think he is.
And that's not a personal attack.
I'm just calling it how I see it.
And now it sucks.
yesterday was brutal from a what's available to you standpoint.
But if you look at the film and you can go listen to Nick Foles's podcast,
you don't want to believe me, believe Nick Foles.
There are things that you're leaving on the field.
And in a game like that where the other quarterback plays poorly,
but you're asking him to make big throws throughout the game.
You're asking a lot more of Matt Stafford than the yard, Jalen Hurts.
So Matt plays poorly,
but you still get the magnificent backshar,
shoulder throws, you get the, you get the BBs over the middle of the field, you get the attacking
mentality that comes with playing quarterback in a big game. It felt like to me Jalen was just hoping to get
out of there. And there's a lot of underneath stuff. They're attacking the voids and zone coverage
early. You really end up throwing a beach ball to Cooper that Lake doesn't catch. And there's a
DPI that's probably not a great call that finishes the half. That's most of it. We're,
with the passing offense in the first half.
Do you think the firing petulow is a grass isn't always green
on the other side type of situation?
I think Petulah sucked.
But two things can be true.
Petulah can suck, and the quarterback might also have trouble
doing certain things.
And I think when you start undressing the offense
from a talent standpoint over the course of a couple years,
you do see some of the deficiencies show up more.
And, you know, I think whether it's,
not hitting a dig on third down because you would have had to throw it open.
Or it's not taking the numbers in the reds on an RPO, like an orbit motion RPO.
Or it's not setting the protection correctly.
These little things that I don't blame people at home.
Like I have to send screen grabs to some of my friends that play quarterback sometimes and say,
hey, what do you think about this?
I don't blame people at home for not immediately recognizing what's happening.
but you are leaving money on the field.
And in a game like that, all you're asked to do
is get the game to 27-10 at some point in the second half.
And Sean Mannion is still a first-year coordinator.
So not great. I get it.
And, you know, hey, listen, if Kellyn Moore was here,
I don't know if he could fix this group.
Because the offensive line was always a straw that stirred the drink
and you don't have that superpower anymore.
You don't.
And so you look at like something like,
and of course, Brad Edzick,
is getting praise here today,
but Carolina's down three offensive linemen in that game.
And Bryce Young is leading the league in quick pressure.
And you know, they got two,
they got a number one receiver, he's a stud, right?
They don't, they don't have, you know,
Coker's a really good piece.
You could look around the league
and I could pick a bunch of situations like this.
Like, you have to overcome the circumstance sometimes.
Sam Fran,
if you wanna be one of the.
guys. And now I kind of feel like looking at this roster offensively and everybody's
going to be healthy, not everybody, but they'll get guys back next week when they go to London
and it'll be a back against the wall game. I wouldn't pick them to win that game.
The way Jacksonville's playing, no way. Like Jacksonville should win that game. Jacksonville's
a better team. So you're not going to see me this week and, you know, I try not to be a
homer, but I also try not to pile on.
in a way because sometimes I think, hey, there's so many hot takes out.
There's so many knee-jerk things going on in the Philly media.
And there's so many things going on in national media.
And quarterback analysis is kind of like religion or politics now.
But it's not for me.
Josh Allen's my favorite quarterback in the league.
He played fucking poorly in the biggest moments yesterday.
The ball he threw was like, was an arm punt.
What are we doing, dude?
It's second and six.
You see how easy that is?
He's not my binky.
He's not my little brother.
He's not a family member.
Like, I don't need to, like, it doesn't matter.
When he plays poorly, he just plays poorly.
And I think too often people are just,
they want it to be true so bad,
but football is a team sport.
And any time a team is great, it's about the team.
And any time you boil it down to one guy being great.
Only as good as your last man.
It just doesn't, it, so when things aren't great,
you start to see who people truly are.
And I'm not saying he's as bad as you looked yesterday
or the week before,
but if you look at the future of the Eagles,
I don't think their roster is in a place
where you can get by with mediocre quarterback play.
And that's more often than not
what I have seen over the last two years.
Kill me.
If I'm wrong, like,
With that statement, you just said,
do you feel like it's the same situation for the Rams
if Matthew Stafford, his quarterback play doesn't improve?
Do you think they can still like sneak?
They can still be successful?
Because again, like you're asking Matt Stafford to do a lot more
than you ask Jalen Hearst to do.
Like if you're not asking a quarterback to do much,
he has to be really, really good.
He has to be really, really good.
And, you know, I just don't feel like
the ambition of the passing offense in Philly
has not been,
even that ambitious in 2024.
So, you know, like, just get with the reality.
The reality is now you've got a middling quarterback who's having trouble doing the simple
things at times and everything's falling apart around him.
It's not all his fault, but some of it is his fault.
And if you think he's going to play like 23 and 24 again, I encourage you to make some moves
to improve this roster because the way this roster is right now,
however you want to say it,
the window's closing or it's closed like one of the two.
You know, I just don't see this team.
I look at Dallas.
Dallas's defense gives me a lot more hope or improvement
than Philly's offense.
You think if Philly played,
you think if Philly played Dallas tomorrow,
I'd feel good about that matchup?
And the defense played a lot better yesterday.
They did.
They did.
there were some real bright spots.
I'll give you Nolan Smith played his ass off.
You know, I thought Mackay Lemon, you know, people want to get down on him.
I think he's a part of the future for them.
I think he's a really good blocker.
And I think they're still figuring out how to use him.
I think Wix is a great man separator.
And I think Smitty's a hell of a player.
You know, they don't have Goddard right now.
The chips are down.
But unless that offensive line is good,
it just doesn't gel with the processing speed that I see the quarterback play with.
You know, it's Justin Herbert.
Justin Herbert's a slow processor.
Justin Herbert, part of the problem is he's playing in an offense
where they're asking him to make quick snap decisions.
He's not a fast processor.
I don't think Jalen is a one, two, three, four-reed guy.
That's not a hot take.
And so you have to be really good in the money downs,
O-for-on-third down.
I was going to fuck up the stats, like the NFL stats.
They'd probably been like the first team ever, right?
to win a game and not complete any third.
Now let's talk about Nick Siriani
because there's people talking about Nick Siriani.
Nick Siriani
is certainly,
he certainly deserves some of the blame yesterday.
And I'm not one that's going to stand on the table
for a coach that doesn't call plays,
allegedly,
when you lose games like that.
Like, because you have to do something
to get your team over the hump.
The decision on fourth down,
down in the red zone,
at the time I said they should kick it at the time because and I understand the Rams would
have would have won the game regardless but it felt like it gave the Rams some momentum albeit they
needed 98 yards looking back at it I totally understand going for it I totally understand
trying to go up 17 and put them away right now I totally understand the fact that you know
third down you end up in a situation where Juergens is quick out of the stack to pull
and runs into Hertz, and I won't even fully put that on Hertz.
I think that's there if they execute.
They're going to get in the end zone, and they're going to win the game.
And all the things I'm saying would still be true about this team right now
if they won that game yesterday.
The fourth down, Cooper's got to work away from leverage.
That's not on Jalen.
But when you leave things to chance this long as an offense,
it just everybody gets a piece of it.
The fourth down, and they get away with it because the defense played so well,
The fourth down where they sneak the ball, they tush push it, like a yard and a half, it felt like.
You have to know the situation.
And the defense bailed him out, and Fangio continues to confuse McVeigh and Stafford.
But this was a game you needed.
And, you know, it's an NFC game.
You talk about the playoffs.
You talk about playoff home field, you know, getting in the playoffs, tiebreakers.
This was a monumental loss for them.
It's a big loss.
and so you know i could sit here and yeah i don't know i'm not looking to the chat but i don't know if
eagles fans agree or disagree but um it does not feel like if you're telling me the window looks
wide open like i think you're you're drinking the the kool-aid a little bit and uh here's a hot take
for matt stafford i feel like he looks old i think he needs to hit the just for men a little right
a little get rid of the gray color the beard just just get i think i think it's
He just looks like a little bit.
We know you're old, but you just look old.
Yeah.
So it feels like you're playing a little old.
Yep.
Maybe hit some just for men or just get some, you know,
I don't know what hair dye products you guys use,
but I feel like if he just got that gray out,
it might help him play a little better.
I think he needs his tight ends back.
You know, and I don't know that he's a great throwover wet ball.
You know, but again, like they're asking him to really,
go try to win that game and uh you know like ultimately he did and and um he played like shit
and i would have killed him and i still will kill him for the way he's played so far this year because
it's been so uneven but it's like when i saw bill barnwell yesterday compare
drake may and matt stafford struggles i'm like okay one guy whether you think he's a hall
of fame or not whether you think he's a top 10 quarterback of all time or not has the hardware
And, you know, generally, with anybody else, the hardware buys them like an entire career's worth of grace.
When you couple the hardware with the fact that he's played in an MVP level multiple years,
and generally that's one of the most dangerous and ambitious passing offenses in the league,
I'll give the guy some grace.
He's got to play better.
He's got to play better.
But the story's written on Matt Stafford.
The story's written on Jalen Hertz in a lot of ways.
ways. He's been in two Super Bowls. He's played big on those stages and he's won one. But if you're
talking about the future of this franchise and like what is sustainable going forward, this play
is not sustainable going forward. They're not good enough to overcome this. The Rams are going to be good
at some point. They're good right now. They're going to be really good at some point when they get
miles back. And, you know, the AD things that cherry on top. We'll see if he can really help them a lot.
the tight end thing is a big loss for them they're going to be really good they blow this game though
none of it really matters it feels like so this was a huge win for them um i don't know what else to say
i mean 68 yards on 31 dropbacks and it ain't just the quarterback it's other players too
there's other players that let the team down yesterday um but if you're looking at the big
picture i do worry about the eagles window like whatever that means like whatever you think about
the future of the philadelphia eagles like they got a lot of the big picture of the eagles like
a lot of work to do a lot of work to do so cheerio mates yeah it's an ugly deal um it's an
ugly deal i would not want to be in that locker room this today i wouldn't want to be in that
that that building today like what a week of practice before you go on international just all the
extra bullshit you're dealing with and just off a loss like that it's going to be a magnificent week
and if there's any time to circle the wagons and and get the
this thing right, it's this week.
You know, like you're playing one of the better teams in the league,
and you have time to lick your wounds,
get on an airplane, think about it the whole way over there,
play with some pride.
You know, the defense is playing with some pride.
Offensively, those guys have to have a conversation.
And, but the thing that scares me is I don't know that conversation
is going to fix what they have going on.
You can rah, rah, you can say, and I'm not, again,
this isn't a shot at, but the question this week was,
who are we?
Man, that was what I kept.
here and Jalen Hertz asking a team, who are we?
Well, that's the answer, right?
Because if they'd have gone out and played well, you said, well, that's who we are.
This is who you are.
It's, it's, you gotta hope to win games 20 to 17.
This is nightmare week for front office too for, for the Eagles.
You have that many guys get hurt, just thinking about like bringing in guys for, what,
workouts, practice squad, and then to figure out like,
And we're going to bring these guys with us across the pond.
That's true.
Like to particularly probably not play, not even suit up, but you just got to have bodies on deck.
And I could just feel, I could just, I mean, you worked in the front office.
I could just imagine the nightmare that that just is about to happen.
And again, on top of a loss.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's not like you just won and you're doing all this.
Yeah.
You're doing this after a loss with everyone in the organization with tight butts and the hot seat question.
are starting and then that puts everyone's jobs in jeopardy so and probably not for nothing the dudes
you're pulling off the street aren't going to help you on the field Sunday so probably not yeah
so next one and this is a big moment for you facts we actually have uh I had a I promise you we'd put
the Texas on the grill and they're going to put them on the grill why are you like dude like
Like, it's cool.
You don't got to put it like me that I'm happy about that.
I'm happy that the Jags are doing well.
But I already, I mean-
Dude, I prepared a meal for you, dude.
Oh, I appreciate it.
But I never, I never, you know, I never had them winning.
Like you did, so.
Who, the Texans?
Yeah.
I did.
Yeah, I know.
Absolutely.
Yeah.
But like, this is how it goes.
I'm going to give, I'm giving you your moment.
I know.
You're always, and you're always welcome, dude.
Like, we love, we love fans.
Bring them in.
Bring the food in.
Jacksonville.
Jacksonville is a great,
it's a great side team, bro.
Now, I'll say this.
I'll say this about the Texans.
You know,
I know there's a lot that went wrong in that game,
and O'N-Four's ugly,
but I will say,
watching it back,
the red socks are a good look.
Really?
Talk about socks.
It was an acquired taste for you.
Ouch.
He's talking about socks.
No.
Dude, here's a deal.
I think, and we're going to bring the food in,
I still think they can sneak into a wild card spot,
but they're not going to win that division,
not the way that the fucking Jags are playing.
Like, the next four, six games, they could get to 500.
But they're not going to catch the Jags the way the Jags are playing.
And I'm sorry.
I'm sorry, Texans.
I gave you a lot of benefit of the doubt.
And it's funny.
Bring it on in.
Bring in the grow.
And it's crazy.
The crazy thing about the grill.
So we actually got, this is actually good food.
So we actually had a local restaurant cook some sirloin tips for you, Nate.
Is this fucking, hey, is this Arby's?
Nope.
This is good stuff.
Fresh stuff.
Because that's ultimately, that's what the, man.
Oh, you got to do some trolling.
Wait, wait, wait, wait. Why am I skeptical about this? Why are you being skeptical, bro? This is
Great A. This is Texans beef, dude. This is like, it's pretty good, isn't it?
Look, what's next? There's nothing. That's, I just, it's Jaguar. You're eating. No, dude. You're eating
Jaguar, Nate. No, dude, I wouldn't do that to a Jaguar, dude. I think they're protected or whatever,
but, um, oh, this is great, man. Isn't it pretty?
good it's pretty good it's pretty good I love it shout out to to Ken he's a chef he's a local
chef and I actually hired him today to just cook us a little steak so Ken it's pretty
good appreciate it man yeah Duval I try to I try to I try to at a 10 let's give it a 10
right now damn dude and a 10 out of 10 feeling great man the Jaguars the leading
AFC South through some AOLI on there the Texans are no longer the threat yeah and we just
have to worry about sauce gardener and daniel jones daniel jones looks awful like i said guys the afc south
runs st johnson jackson man here's all say cowboys first off cowboys did a great job of limiting true
pass rush opportunities i thought that was really good like they found a way and you know houston i'll
explain the problem with them in a second but Houston playing a lot of cover for right
So you can chip out, hit the checkdowns, you know, you can you can dink and dunk them,
and they did for parts of the game.
They ran the ball in the red zone.
I thought Guyton played great.
Guyton looks like a hit now, right?
And I like Guyton coming out.
I didn't like so much of what I saw, you know, his first year or two, but like the way
he looks now, I mean, yesterday, if you can get your hands on Deniel Hunter, there's a difference
between him and Will Anderson.
You can kind of jump set Hunter before he gets his feet going and kind of neutralize him that way.
I think mixing up some of the chipsets, some of the boots, some of the quick game, really, and it's a good stake in it.
Really threw the Texans off.
Nate Tice talked about this morning.
He's coming on the show, but Cooper Beebe, varying his headbobs.
My neck, I woke up this morning.
I can't even turn my neck.
Something's going on.
So I can't do the head bob thing.
the way that I wanted to show you.
I wanted to show you how Cooper Beebe was doing his head bob.
I can't.
I must have slept wrong.
They go four or four in the red zone, and they run the ball down there.
And, you know, I just think, like, when you give up was another Ted McMillan-type performance,
but C.D. Lamb, at least the excuse with C.D. Lamb is there's another alien out there in
George Pickens that you have to account for.
But it doesn't make it any better when you're watching them like,
go fire zone and you totally drop him underneath there's like nobody there and he's got 20 yards
ahead of steam there's just too many explosives um i think defensively and i said this before like the
cowboys they give you more hope for what they could become defensively than say the eagle's
offense because the cowboys just added a number one corner right they're gonna they're gonna
to play more man coverage.
Okay.
The Caleb Downs edition is going to help.
It's a domino effect when the other guys can get into positions that are more
comfortable that suit them the best in the secondary.
I think Barrum continues to look like a very instinctive football player.
Quinn and Williams and the interior guys kind of got after the guards.
And, you know, this is going to bleed in Texans part of it, but they kind of, they kind of
whooped them in some spots and the games gave that offensive line trouble um you know the you know
rishon gary lined up inside like there were some good rushes from that group i think this group is
rushing better now again it's like playing detroit secondary you're going to look better after
that that football game but i do think there were some things that dallas can hang their hat off
on coming out of this game like i still like that's an o and four football team but it's not an easy
fucking football team to beat. It's just not. This team's played, Texans have played two top five
offenses and they play one top 10 offense. So it's not easy to beat this defense. They found a way
to do it. It's not like, hey, 30 points is just a walk in the park against this group. I think it's a
big win for DAC, overcoming the shoddy fumble before the half with the kicking the field goal
at mid-field, given Houston free points, you know, coming off a game in Rio where he pissed it away.
the big three just kind of delivered for Dallas
and getting Javante Williams involved is great.
So again, like nice reps up front.
And again, like you look at this team compared to the Eagles
and you look at the NFC East.
Like if you're at Dallas, you kind of think,
hey, we're the better team right now.
And it's going to be hard.
I'm just saying, I mean, like they just...
Just playing devil's advocate.
Like, if you're not a Dallas fan,
you can easily just be like,
well, they're two.
Two wins are against the commanders after Jalen Daniels gets hurt at half time, and then the
O-N-4 Texans.
Yeah, but you could also say, hey, everybody's on the Ravens Nuts perpetually.
I mean, the Ravens are everybody's favorite football team.
They go to Rio, and honestly, if they execute, they might win that game.
You know, they're in the red zone at the four.
I mean, I think to deny that they're a good team that can become really good at the defense,
we said this coming in the season, if they can be league average defensively.
The other thing I'll say is this.
Porter might be that piece to make him league average.
He could be.
No, for sure.
And that's the whole thing to me is like.
Russian cover worked together.
So it's something where if he comes in, he could lock down a wide receiver one and get
Quinn and Williams, Von Miller.
And Nico didn't get the ball the five, six times.
You know, that could just be the concepts or that could just be we're staying away from.
And we'll see with a bigger sample size.
You only play like 24 plays.
But the guy's going to help.
Yeah.
And so, you know, I look at the Cowboys and I say, hey,
like it's all about how Christian Parker develops this,
this secondary and how they get into a rhythm,
like, who do we want to be, like schematically?
And that JPJPs definitely is domino number one for them.
You know, if your pass rush isn't great,
you add that corner, it can really change things.
And I saw things yesterday pass rush-wise that impressed me
as far as, like, the progress to this front.
The problem with the Texans is, you know,
and I'll say it like me being bullish on them is kind of predicated on and it's like with any team you got to stay healthy but that defense last year had really good injury luck I think Petrie missed some games with a concussion if you took a snapshot of that Texan's defense right now and I've always said this about their front they're not great inside if you took a snapshot from the end zone and looked at two defensive tackles right now the two linebackers
so they're down two starting linebackers,
which Dallas picked on those guys,
you know, the high-low concepts,
pulling those guys up in the run game and the play action.
They're not very good.
You know, they're well below average in those two areas.
The safety play has not been great.
And Lassiter yesterday was bad.
Like Lassar had a couple, and he's playing a great player,
but Lassar had two really bad penalties in the red zone.
And Reeb Blankenship has not been what they hoped he would be.
I think the Eagles probably wish they had that back,
and Texans wish they never made the move.
And I think Reed's a good player, but it's all about fit,
and it just hasn't fit so far.
So the middle of their defense is not great.
And so right now, that's what you're kind of dealing with.
When you play a team that's got two dogs outside,
you know, you can take those guys away.
Stingley at the end of the game should be on C.D. Lamb,
who's torched you guys with the game on the line.
I don't understand why you've got Petrie.
It looked like he was like outside leverage on CD Lamb with the game on the line.
Like, I need my best guy on CD Lamb with the fucking game on the line.
And I will say, Domingo Ryan's has been a really good coordinator in his time.
Right now, he's not the play caller, but he's a really good defensive coordinator.
He's a guy you respect.
I'm sure from an attitude standpoint and the whole thing, he's a great coach.
But their failure to adapt defensively, schematically,
they just ran cover four all day yesterday it's like Dallas could get whatever they wanted outside the numbers in the quick game you know CD lamp cover four speed out you know um okay your two worst players are the linebackers you're going to leave them with all that grass to cover and you know not being aggressive um hurts you in those situations not varying the looks um i think they played what did i have here 47 percent cover four compared to 10 percent prior
Like to me, that's just, that's, they're playing meathead ball.
And we praise them for how good they play meathead ball.
When they've got all their guys, you can do it.
But the minute you have deficiencies defensively, and you've got two backup backers in there,
and the safety's not been what you hope you'd be, and the tackles aren't great,
all of a sudden, you kind of have to throw some wrinkles in there.
And I question the creativity of this defensive coordinator in Burke.
Like, I just, to me, you have to be able to hit the curveball.
they're not able to do that.
The Cowboys ran the ball into the end zone in the low red.
And you want to be a great defense, and they have been for a while now.
You have to be able to stand up and keep the points down
when you play some of these elite offenses.
They didn't do it against Buffalo.
They did it against Cincinnati.
That's a game I put on the offense.
In this game, and I'll say this, you want positives, Texans.
There's a lot of teams that would like to have a starting quarterback in the NFL.
You have one.
You have a guy in CJ Stroud, and I thought yesterday, you see him with a full deck.
The unfortunate thing about this season so far as you've had to play left-handed for most of it,
they're really actually pretty good offensively in the past game when he's protected.
He knows where to go with the football.
He's going through his reeds.
He's climbing the pocket.
Where's the run game?
The run game's not there.
Woody, where's Woody?
Where's Montgomery?
Montgomery, I feel like he teased us.
He start the season with three touchdowns.
I know, but even in that game, you know, I, I,
you know in that game you kind of bite the cheese and say okay well maybe they've gotten better at least
in the money downs because they converted on some short yardage situations but again this is and i'm not
the only person who's talked about this this is a team that built their team with like a bunch of
tight ends right and i just don't feel like maybe now now watching them play for a couple weeks it's like
it's not it's a design flaw like they'd be better off spreading people out and getting the ball
out of his hands quickly and running in light personnel and um and and and and and and and and
And to me, I guess the only question, if you're a Texans fan is, do you pay C.J. Stroud?
I think he's showing you enough.
What he showed you when he was a young player was great.
It was ahead of schedule.
There was the dip in production.
There was the last year's playoff performance.
And then the way he started the season this year is like, hey, listen, if you thought the Texans were going to stink because the C.J. Stride, you were wrong.
They stink because they can't find a way to win a football game.
And when you draft K.
Kenyon Rutledge and all you hear about is how physical he is and oh man he's just a fucking
Whoa, what a bully.
He doesn't play like it.
And I'm not going to put him in the Penning category because I think he's better than Trevor
Penning.
But remember Trevor Penning was like, I get to physically assault people.
And then he goes out there and he just plays Patty Cake.
And, you know, and Rutledge has not been that guy.
Ingram's a good run blocker, but he's not a good pass protector.
Trent Brown's older.
I'm not going to lie.
I feel like that franchise changed ever since the mystery mixing injury.
and like him just changing.
I feel like he really changed the dynamic of that offense.
And just for CJ, having someone like as dynamic as him in the run game,
but also mixing was a big part of their past game.
And I just feel like everything kind of changed and they can't find that production anywhere else.
And I feel like that's that's kind of like hurting them big time.
Yeah.
I mean, Mixon's a game changing back for sure.
And they don't have a game changing back right now.
but I still think, like, that the misses up front have just hurt them.
And I'm not calling Rutledge a miss yet, but, like, you know, all year when you talk about,
again, they built this team around a shell-shot quarterback, and what they don't have is a shell-shot quarterback.
They have a quarterback who's ready to take the next step and turn the page.
How do you rally your guys in the locker room right now for Texans, just thinking about postseason, whatever?
Just thinking about whatever for this season.
What's the motivation?
One-game playoffs.
It's everything's a one-game playoffs.
because they're in a one-game playoff now.
Like, listen, I mean, the chances of them climbing in this thing is low.
Low.
But I think they've started O-N-4 before and found a way.
They're not going to win the division if Jacksonville doesn't, if, you know,
Trevor Lawrence doesn't get hurt or if Parker Washington doesn't get hurt or something
unforeseen happens.
Like the way the Jags are playing.
You know, yesterday was really impressive.
We're about to go into it in a second.
But it just, to me, this is one of the more disappointing teams in this.
the NFL.
Because it's undeniable.
They have a lot of very good players.
Once a season, right?
A team either goes from the top division of the bottom or from the bottom to the top.
Yeah.
Just the parody of the NFL.
No question.
I mean, and listen, the first quarter's over.
There's a lot more ball to go.
Trade deadline should be interesting this year, right?
That's a question.
Hey, are the Texans buyers at any point?
I think they'd have to win four straight to be buyers.
I think they'd have to get to 500 before the trade deadline.
And I do think they're capable of doing that.
But, you know, it's disappointing when your strength is no longer the strength that it was, right?
You know, because it's cleared through four games that, hey, most teams play the Texans.
The Colts play the Texans.
And it looks like a heavy lift for the Colts.
But if you get in the playoffs, you're going to see Joe.
You're going to see Josh.
You're going to see Lamar.
You're going to see Trevor.
You're going to see the AFC is loaded with good offenses.
If you're going to have that much trouble with these guys,
then it's a lot to ask of your offense that's really imperfect,
keeping up.
And the offense did all they could really yesterday,
but couldn't do enough.
Coming back to your point about a potential schematic change for the Texans,
is it fair to say maybe that Texans' offensive staff
should be studying some CINC-Y tape?
Is that kind of what you're seeing in your mind's eye,
in terms of spreading things out.
I don't know if they have the horses to do that.
I mean, you know, the SINC-Tape is easier said than done,
but I do think, you know, some of the run concepts,
it would be prudent to look at some things like that.
I mean, like the Sinci's not putting two, three tight ends on the field.
I mean, they're going to run the ball out of 11 personnel.
They've got their flex guy in Gaseki, you know,
but they're not a physicality, you know,
oriented offensive football team.
And the Texans, just being honest,
Like they might have tried to be physical in their moves,
but they're not physical.
And so, you know, you look at this offensive line and say,
what do you do?
Well, you just try to hide them by getting the ball out quick
and not making the theme of it.
Like, we're just going to bully people.
We're getting these big, tight end sets and fucking Stover as a fullback.
Get the fuck out of here.
Like, what are we doing?
But I think Nick Cayley saved his ass because, you know,
although it's not, it doesn't make a big difference scoring 30 points in the Cowboys,
they did that.
And they got an old of the ball.
But, again, this is a huge.
Huge win for the Cowboys.
You know, it's just a fucking...
Can you win D-P-O-Y, your team be trash?
Yeah, Miles Garrett did it.
True.
So I think Will Anderson, to me, is, like,
the best defensive player on the planet right now.
Healthy?
Yeah.
I've never seen a guy affect the run in the past like he does.
Not never, but, like, you know, in the league right now,
there's nobody that's better against both.
And the block kick.
Any block kick, dude.
That's unbelievable.
So, so, listen, I mean,
Big, big win for the Cowboys.
Texans are in trouble.
It's a one-game playoff from here on out.
But Chiefs Raiders, this was everything you hoped it would be, dude.
This was exactly the way I saw this game.
I mean, I saw the Chiefs covering, which almost happened.
But, you know, to me it was, it's one of those things where the Raiders are,
three and no, the talk of the league, you end up in this game that, like,
really is going to tell you something about your team.
Like this is a big barometer win or loss for them and if you lose it
It's not the end of the world, but it's how you lose it and I'm fine with the way they lost this game
If I'm a Raiders fan and there's no there's no need to do the you know the the the the
I'm overreacting if I'm a Raid the moral victories
But you could have won that game yeah you absolutely could have won that game and you know the thing you did is you you couldn't even run the ball
That's the thing about this match up and Clint Kubiak obviously had circled this thing and spent the offseason thinking like
like, how can I take advantage of these guys in the middle of the field?
And I thought they did.
I mean, you know, it was the tight ends.
It's gentie out of the back field catching the football.
Brock Bowers is he's, he's unstoppable.
And so, you know, you can put Sneed on him all day.
Sneed's going to have a long day.
And he did.
You just try to survive.
But the Raiders with, they drafted a number one overall quarterback.
You heard Mahomes after the game talk about, I mean, some of the talk from the chiefs after the game
about being impressed with the Raiders.
Like they couldn't help but be like, man, good for y'all,
even though they're fierce rivals, right?
And I also think this matchup is encapsulated
and watching Max Crosby help Patrick Mahomes up.
That's like a no-no for defensive linemen,
but nobody's going to tell Max Crosby
not to fucking help a guy up.
Max Crosby is, he's a consummate badass
and he hates the Chiefs.
For people don't know, that's still,
and that's part of the mental game too.
Like, I'm helping you up.
Like, yeah.
But it honestly, if you're a Raiders fan,
and I don't care about Clint Kubiak coming out of the half
and saying we're going to win this game.
Whether it was a Freudian slip or he meant to say it,
I never get, I never understand how people get so mad at players of coaches for,
you know, I understand the bulletin board material thing,
but like, no shit, what do you want him to expect to do?
And what do you think he told his guys in the locker room?
We're going to go win this game?
And honestly, at the half, you probably felt like you could.
And right at the end of the game,
you felt like you could. This was a back and forth
game. And Kirk Cousins,
Kurt Cousins, man, threw for,
I mean, threw the ball 50-something times.
You like that. This is not even the way
that they're going to play when they get right.
And when Mendoza gets in the game,
if Mendoza is three quarters
of what you hope he is is the number one pick,
they're going to be good for a while.
And they really have... They're moving in the right
direction. And they really haven't
gotten Gentie going in the run game.
And it's something to desire with that,
with him being such a high pick,
I feel like the Raiders just have a lot,
they have a lot more potential, like, out there with as good as they've been playing.
And just like you're saying, like, there's no moral victories,
but as a fan or if you're in that locker room right now,
I think you guys know with Kurt and what the product you guys have been putting out there,
we're in every game or we're, in our minds,
we're favorite to win every game because we have all the pieces.
We have a captain on defense that isn't ever going to let us.
us take a playoff. So with an offense with Kirk Cousins, knowing that you guys are going to be
at least in the game. Are you Jason Kelsey in the Raiders? You said we in the game. No, I'm just saying
them just, yeah, just this talking like I'm talking as Raiders, Raiders. No, Raiders, Raiders, Raiders fans. No,
yeah, I was, I was, I was, I was a year early. It's all good. A year early, dude. It's all good.
But you were, you were on it. The Raiders have turned the page. And, and I think it's all downhill, too.
And I mean, people probably don't think about it like this, but Tom Brady has won a lot.
And I feel like he's probably brought a lot to that organization just top down to change things
and whether people take like creed to that or if that really matters to people.
But it does.
And you've got a quarterback who's just watching right now in Fernando Mendoza.
And you don't think he's talking to Tom Brady about the way to learn the game and how to think about the game.
You think about somebody like Sam Donald who ended up in New York.
And he was quoted as saying he didn't know how to read a defense really until,
and I'm paraphrasing, until he got to San Francisco and was working with Kyle Shanahan.
Like that to me just illustrates the delta in how players enter the league.
Like it is a crap shoot in where you get drafted and the situation you get drafted into.
And then ultimately your outcomes as a result.
And that's why I respect somebody like Sam Darnel because Sam Darnel has overcome having to be in those situations,
got killed and then Fernetta Mendoza has walked into a situation where you're going to have the best
tight end in the game. You're going to have a game-changing running back at some point if they can get
this ship blocked up. And maybe Genti's not the right guy for the scheme they're running or something.
But at least you have that and you have Tom Brady in the building and you've got Clint Kubiak as a
play caller. Like things are going to be set up well when he walks in.
You know when you have a baby, you get the baby room ready.
and you know if it's a boy everything's blue and you got the toys and the nursery is ready for the baby this nursery is pretty souped up this is a pretty good nursery and when the baby comes like i think they're going to but right now kirk cousins is balling and you know you think about the end of the game and we will talk about the chiefs here in a second you know i love the chiefs but kirk cousins at the end of that game how he doesn't get the ball took off him by our mason thomas is like and it's the difference between the cover
But oh my God, dude, like he's making great plays off schedule and he's not turning the ball over.
The Kirk Cousins we've seen, remember that Chargers game when he was in Atlanta, when he was just, bro, we thought he was dead and he's not dead.
So, hey, good for the Raiders.
The things you want to work on, and these are the things that the Chiefs took advantage of, especially offensively.
You know, you can't give up explosive runs.
Okay, that, you know, I'm sure sitting in the meeting today.
I read a headline as like the Raiders run defense of what let him know.
Sure.
When Kenneth Walker, who seems inevitable at this point,
breaks off a 76-yard run because I was a bad rep from Nacobie Dean.
And, you know, luckily Taryn Johnson runs like a fucking 4-3.
I'd like to see how many MPHs he got up to Hawking, Kenneth Walker,
great effort.
Another thing is like when your team plays with effort like that,
culturally there's something going on.
And so, but, but, but, but I'm sure.
they're sitting in the room this morning and saying, hey, guys, it's just two runs. You take away
the 21-yard run or whatever it was at the end of the game that iced it, and you take
away the 76-yarder, and I know people at home are like, well, you can't do that, but this is how
people talk in NFL line rooms. Guys, we bottled them up for, you know, the other 19, 20 carries
of the game are 85 yards or whatever it is. Like, the way they played and it showed up missing
Kingsley-Lewa-Matae-Yia.
And that was a, you know, a disciplinary thing.
I can't imagine O'Liman don't usually get in trouble.
I'm kind of wondering what the fuck he did,
but Andy Reid's not going to tell us.
He's not going to tell us what's going on with Josh Simmons.
Okay?
They're going to play that close to the best.
The Caliando thing, the Caliando thing hurt them in the run game.
Like, there were, this was, I mean, there were times where they just got stuffed.
And I haven't seen them get stuffed yet in short yardage situations.
Like, you start the game going for it on fourth down.
I also think, you know, the,
just going for it and feeling like you have to get the first points in the game,
which is what Andy Reid thought,
is a tip of the cap to what the Raiders football team looks like.
Right now you want to play the game from ahead.
But yeah, you got to stop the run.
Got it.
I think running the football is going to be the big,
like the missing piece for the Raiders right now is the run offense.
And defensively, I think they got hurt and cover zero.
Like they got hurt
selling out and playing man coverage
And that's the greatness of Patrick Mahomes
Is Patrick Mahomes is going to beat you
If you man him up
And right now they're down
They were down Rishi Rice for a lot of the game
They're now down Taekwon Thornton
Your guy Tyree Kill is probably on a plane
To Kansas City
Right now
Right now
So they're going to continue to probably have answers
They will make a move
They won't sit on their hands
I think they have a very good football team
I think the chiefs are as good as any team
in football right now
just when you weigh the coaching, the quarterback play, some of the quality players they have on the team.
And Kelsey's looking like the old Kelsey this year, the way him in Patrick Holmes,
like that's back to being his safety blanket.
And if that continues, but the biggest part, obviously, is just Kenneth Walker.
If they can continue with this run game, like we talked about earlier, it's about to be that time in Kansas City,
It gets cold out there.
Teams are not going to want to tackle someone like Kenneth Walker or try to tackle him
30 plus times a game.
The team's built for December.
It is.
And, you know, again, like the thing that I always think is a superpower the Kansas City Chiefs is
in the got to have its situations, they have the plays.
They had third and two, fourth and two at the goal line, the little rubber route down at the goal line.
Like, you know, the third and five late in the game where, bro, you're going to man these guys up.
You send Noah Gray in motion.
The safety fires down on him.
They're thinking Kelsey, they're thinking something underneath.
And Thornton just runs by the safety.
Those are the, that's the Patrick Mahomes magic.
It's like, you're as good as dead.
He's rarely going to miss it.
And he misses them sometimes.
But in the key moments, he's going to make those plays.
So I thought the biggest thing for me was like,
they kept the explosives down for most of the game outside that run.
You know, and when they had, they man.
up they got beat and and so I listen I I think the the Raiders have shown more than enough to be
taken serious as a team that could make a push for a wild card and shit Raiders fans to tell you
right now we're three and one we could win the fucking division and the way that game went I'm
gonna be really interested in the second matchup so and impressive by the coaches I don't know
if they seen it or not on that big run um Max Crosby was not in the game and they were
able to yes they were yeah to run right there and
and spark that big run, you might only get one chance.
And I think they were in like a five-man front
or something like that.
And when you're in those fronts,
like one guy misses, it's out the gate.
Out the gate.
You know, the other thing is, hey, the fourth down,
I don't hate them going for it on fourth down
to try to put that team away.
You can't blame them.
If they put that team, if they go up 20 to 10,
the whole tenor of the game changes.
Yeah.
It's a lower scoring game at that point.
Like, I get what Clint Kubiak's doing.
And they're four of six on fourth down,
I think as it stands right now.
So I don't care about him saying they're going to win the game.
I don't care about him going on fourth down.
You try to win the fucking game in that situation.
It just didn't work out.
They still had a chance to win at the end of the game.
And they muff a kick at the end of the football game as well.
So there are ways that you can beat this Kansas City team.
And that's one of the best teams in the NFL.
For sure.
And you asked our guest, Nate Tyson, who's about to join.
He nailed it with Turan Johnson's miles per hour, 22.17.
Oh, Nate,
Nate, thank you for that
because I was like,
that's one of the fastest people
I've seen all season.
I was like,
who the fuck is that guy?
Yeah, it's Taron Johnson.
I didn't know he was that fast.
So without further ado,
and we're going to get Jags,
bangles right off of Nate
because I found that to be
one of the most interesting games.
But we've got Nate joining us now.
Nate Tice is joining us,
talk about a bunch of games,
but first off,
Pat's Bills,
because I think somebody is a Drake May fan,
and Drake May fan.
and Drake May looked back yesterday, at least a little bit.
Nate, welcome to the show, dude.
Welcome back.
Thanks for having me.
Yeah, that 22 miles an hour made my Achilles hurt.
Like, just even posting that.
I was like, that's not for me.
I can't tell you the last time I broke 20, but no, it was, thanks for having me.
Yeah, a lot of good football yesterday.
So, like, you even were saying, like, hey, I'm going to say some games we might want to talk about.
It's like any of them work.
Any of them work.
There's a lot of juicy games yesterday.
Well, I thought Pat's bills was super interesting because, you know,
You know, you want to talk about like a back-against-the-wall spot.
I mean, I don't know what happens if they lose this game.
I don't know what happens if Drake May looks bad.
And the whole world warned everybody, don't bet the bills.
And this is a spot that, you know, it's just going to be ugly.
I thought Drake looked a lot.
But you saw the magic yesterday, you know, whether it's the fumbled snap or the game-winning touchdown
or some of the off-scheduled plays.
I think he's like a hitter that needed to get on base.
what did you see from him yesterday that encouraged you?
Decisive.
And that's not just like, you know, the touchdown,
the first touchdown of Romeo Dobbs was really encouraging
because that was, it's a bubble pump play.
If you watch Texas and Arch Manning,
Sark calls that every time they get into the 30.
It gets really annoying.
Sorry, I've watched a lot of Texas this year.
But on that, he's getting to the backside.
And this is a guy that has been feeling stressed.
has been feeling pressing is the term I always use.
And you can feel most with quarterbacks,
but I think you can relate as a former player.
Athletes are all pressing sometimes when they're trying to make a play
and trying to do something when things aren't going right.
So to get to the number three essentially on the backside,
and usually you probably didn't practice against that.
It was encouraging.
But then all the scramblings,
all the scrambles, I should say, made sense.
Of course, they were productive,
but it wasn't like he's passing up a throw.
It was that he was like going, okay, one to two.
All right, I should scramble.
now like the internal clock was really good and fumbles are going to be a thing with him uh he doesn't
have big hands that's just a thing with usually the guys without big hands um dante cole pepper
if you remember him like he always had fumble issues he had tiny hands um even the biggest guys
it's just kind of a thing like the whole pepper had tiny hands oh yeah like little sausages no way oh yeah
and that was always a thing with him i know it's the people's hands he's 6 4 260 yeah and
Yeah, that's crazy.
Yeah.
Like, yeah, I know.
I figured you.
You, because you came in the league right as he was kind of getting out.
But, you know, grew up watching him.
And I always thought it was this monstrous dude.
He's got to have catcher's mitts.
But no.
No.
Like, you know, there's huge hands was like Russell Wilson has giant hands.
Like Jordan Love's got giant hands.
Okay.
That's why Jordan Love can do that and pumping all that.
But yeah, but like the guy, I mean, since Mays entered the league,
he leads the league in strip sacks or fumbles when he gets sacked and i think uh cam ward's next
and cam ward doesn't have big hands either so but with may though is those scrambles made sense
the the fact that they went to him at the end of the game to close it out speaks to a confidence
i thought not just with him but with the whole offense um there there was on that opening drive
uh jim leonard who bill's defense isn't great uh that's actually it's pretty bad but jim leonard did a
kind of a two invert simulated pressure and there's may finding the find the whole shot to romeo dog
and fourth down i was like okay he's seen the game really well and he ended with a 53% success rate
which is really good but then i just thought too is that the offense as a whole actually had a little
bit more creativity especially in the run game yeah which is i wrote about last week and that was kind of
like what really stood out to me was you knew when duo was coming and i'm a guy that loves duo but
when you telegraph it and you don't have dudes up front or a dude at running back,
that kind of makes it hard.
So I was encouraged by the whole offense on top of how May kind of put it over the top
with all those explosives and those scrambles.
I thought, you know, and he left the game with an injury,
but Matt Collins, my old teammate, he just continues to be a really important piece for them.
And, you know, like part of it is, hey, you're not going to see Maxwell Harrison
and the rookie Ibnowson every week.
Like, Benford being down is big.
But I think, you know, the confidence being the theme of this game, like, just getting some confidence.
Like, it also was so huge, and you talked about it, having Romeo Dobbs make some of the biggest plays in this game.
He's definitely a guy who's reputable for having a hot and cold kind of attitude depending on what's going on.
So I just thought he was great.
I also thought, you know, I also thought on the other side of things,
Josh looked tentative taking off.
I didn't see the same killer instinct from him,
and I'm not absolving him.
You know, if he's dinged or whatever,
I thought he played poorly.
I mean, these are the rules.
You don't finish the game throwing an arm punt on second and six
and get the pass.
But I did think, and I wonder what you think about this.
I thought at the beginning of last week, the Chargers game,
those guys got whooped up front a little bit.
Like in a very uncharacteristic way where you had some middle pressure where guys were just getting thrown around.
And middle pressure really frustrates Josh.
And I thought yesterday, not only Dion Dawkins look, I mean, he looks not just yesterday.
Like not a shell of himself, but not as good as the guy we know.
I see some leaks up front for this offensive line.
And I wonder what you think about that group coming into week five.
Yeah, I had the same observation about Dawkins.
And actually I noticed that in preseason.
I was like, you know, some guys worked themselves back in the shape.
I was around a guy named Donald Penn who liked to do that.
And they know they get better.
And then, okay, we'll get ready for the regular season.
We get right.
But there's even, you know, O-line stats and advanced stats are a little noisy.
But like this was an eye test thing.
And I looked it up last night.
And sure enough, one-on-one pressure rate, which is kind of what I go with with tackles.
Kind of CRI if I'm ISOed up, how do we do?
And in 2024, Deon-Dakins, 7.4%, which is good.
about 10% is about league average for tackles.
Yeah.
It's kind of nice to have a nice round number like that.
2025, 7.7%.
So good again.
Then this year already, it's 11.5%.
So he's gone from good to below average.
And he's a good run blocker.
And that's where he stands out.
But he's getting beat by Elijah Ponder.
And I really like Elijah Ponder.
He's a great.
But if I'm going in, you take Dionne Dawkins in the match up.
Like one on one.
Yeah, I'm going to take you.
I'm not going to give you chip help.
You're good.
But that kind of keeps cropping up.
And especially with how much five man stuff they like to do, you know, five man protections, that matters because then if Josh doesn't want to scramble and wants to hang in there, well, I got to trust my, you know, trust my protection on that.
And there's times, and this cropped up more last year, I haven't really noticed this year was I thought sometimes they were letting blitzes in without kind of, you know, jelling it or whatever, passing it off correctly.
So it is stuff I am keeping.
And they have a new old line coach this year, a guy that has a lot of experience.
but it's something I'm keeping my eye on because I agree.
I thought credits of the Patriots defense,
they've actually done a lot of nice things this year,
even last week against the Jags.
I know the Jags ended up getting them.
They do cool stuff.
Yeah.
They did.
Well, yeah, you can't survive that many turnovers in the NFL,
especially with the Jags, how the Jags are playing right now.
Yeah.
So they're doing really cool stuff on passing downs.
They're doing a lot of disguise stuff.
Not, you know, it's not just blitz in the house,
but they blitz on unusual downs.
It's not just third and long.
and 10 they'll blitz second and sixth they're blitzing or they're simulating or they're creeping
or they're kind of passing moving out of it uh Carlton davis blew up a screen on third down
because it looked like a cover zero and actually they rotated the cover two right at the snap
and then Carlton davis just knives in blows it right up and those are they they were tackling
really well too they only missed four tackles yesterday same with the bill's defense actually they only
missed four tackles but I thought it was really just they made things tight on Josh and I think
that's why he started to press.
He was like, all right, no one's making a play for me.
I got to chuck it.
And it's kind of like, hey, that's the world that Drake May lives in.
And Josh kind of felt like is living that, had to live that yesterday, too.
And the run game was going.
Like, the run game was cooking.
But in the second half, Josh Allen, 16 dropbacks, only four were successful.
And it was bad, dude.
Like, honestly, even when Palmer dropped the ball, I get it.
Palmer, you got to make that catch.
But like, and Josh is flat footed throwing the ball 50 yards.
And maybe this is like, he's a.
victim of his own standards. But like for me, you got to hit that dude in stride and it's got to be a
touchdown. And it ends up being like a punt. And, you know, Palmer drops the ball and he's not been
dependable. And I kind of wonder where they're going to go now. But like, you know, there were things
that Josh could have done a lot better in this game. And, you know, you brought up Ponder. Yakis, dude,
freaking good football player. And you want to talk about a baptism. He absolutely baptized, dog,
I don't know how Josh got the ball off and I know people are like that should be grounding and I'm not going to argue with him, but
Holy shit.
Yeah, I'm another one too.
Yeah.
Like a secondary move.
Like he ripped inside on him on a secondary move and Dawkins, I think they called a hold and it was incomplete.
So they, you know, waved away the hold.
But I think he got him on a hole too.
How do dudes get more sudden at the pro level?
I just didn't think he looked that sudden at Illinois and then like, you know, I'm not like a, you know more about college football.
but like he looks a lot twitchier and more sudden at the pro level than he did in college.
But I was going to say this.
Ponder also made a huge tackle in, I think it was a sim pressure or something at the end of the
game on the last possession where if he doesn't get, I think it was Kincaid down,
that dude's going to run to like probably to midfield.
And, you know, you end up in the subsequent couple downs with Josh pressing and turning the ball over.
But I think just just guys making plays for that.
Patriots team, building the confidence and just finding a way to win.
And, you know, like for people that said, hey, this team won't play for variable.
Obviously, they are playing hard.
I think that's a narrative-driven BS thing.
And the other thing is with the bills, a lot of screens on third and long, a lot of
perimeter screens on third and long, just trying to get to fourth and manageable or sometimes
just opting out of dropping back and passing the ball.
And so to go back to the earlier hypothesis, if they notice it too, I don't think this
offensive line is as easily
dependable as it's
been in the past. So there's something to monitor.
Keon Coleman.
Yeah. Maybe he's a guy. I don't know.
Yeah. He's a little
more sprightly. No,
he's moving around, but
yeah, speaking of confidence, that's,
he's such a odd player,
but like his whole thing is that he's a dunk artist.
So when he wasn't dunking on
people in his early career, it's like kind of like,
all right, what do you do? You're not going to rip guys off
and routes and all that.
You can kind of there's always plays you can kind of tell how the ecosystem's going is whether they lean into it too much or not and
The bill is it's mesh you know two cross or something behind it
And I saw a lot more mesh yesterday. Yeah, that's kind of one of those where it's like all right, you're playing the hits now and not I don't mean that in a good way
It's one of those. All right. What about the new album?
Saw Joe Brady a couple times get the play call in late because he was arguing with a ref
Mm-hmm kind of it felt like they felt stressed and it was kind of like hey we're not blown the doors off this team
And after like last week wasn't as pretty.
Of course, it was more chargers chartered as opposed to the bills like completely dominating.
And so that is just one of those things where it's like, all right.
I mean, that's the NFL.
It's never easy.
But it's just one of those where it's just some of the signs where it's like, okay, this is not a true juggernaut.
And there's no juggernauts right now in the NFL, AFC especially, but in the NFL right now, it's wide open.
And that's, there was a good reminder that it's like, no, no, this is this league right now.
There's a lot of units finding their ways, even the ones that we thought were super, you know, going to be one of the top.
once. You know, DJ Moore going out. That's another part of it, but it's, I don't know, the second
half was a weird flow for me, at least for the bills. Like they, they could have, I mean, they're
pound the rock. They just got into the hip formations and pound the rock, and then they just
kind of got away from it. And that's, that was just odd to me. It just felt like, again, they were
stressing when it was out, the Patriots all week felt like they were stressing, at least, you know,
narratively, like you said. The three teams to me and the AFC that look the best, at least like,
hey, we're only four games in, so this changes a lot.
But I think the three teams that look the best to me are the Jags, Chiefs and Bills.
I mean, like, just like guys that, teams that I can see in December looking really good,
or January looking really good.
But, I mean, it's a long way to go.
Ravens a little bit.
Ravens, for sure.
I just don't believe in their defense.
I don't either.
I don't know that I believe in the Bill's defense either, but the Ravens have never
showed me anything offensively in the playoffs.
I think that's fair to say.
I do think Declan Doyle.
he changes things he changes
yes
but again it's
Lamar's hurt
and it's like all right you're ready
yeah
I was gonna ask you this
if you the Jets
because we were on the ride over here
like oh who's replacing Aaron Glenn
not to make him a dead man walking
but come on like he ran
they were in 30 plays yesterday offensively
um
first off how
but then who would you
if you had a young quarterback
of all the
hot young names
at coordinator, who would you bring in to be your head coach right now through four games?
Yeah, Doyle, there's Grant Udiskey from the Jags.
There's another one that I really like.
And actually, if you wanted to kind of go a little different,
it would be Clayton Adams with the Cowboys, who's an O-line guy.
Yeah, but I know he's not calling plays, but I think O-line coaches can be organized.
O-line coaches as a head coach is a good, a lot of different directions.
But it's, you know, speaking from experience with my dad.
But it's one of those where they, I think his personality and just how he's handled
the Offense Alliance with Arizona and now in Dallas.
He really shows that he has a good way of handling talent, getting the most out of them,
organizing stuff, kind of being cohesive, but he's another name.
So those three are the ones that stand out to me.
Dude, I'm a big I'm a big I stick guy right now.
I'm a big hitzick.
Yeah.
Dude.
He's doing a great stuff.
And what about Fleury?
I mean, there's a couple guys that, yeah, I mean, we'll see how the season goes.
But I just want to get your take on that.
And then, you know, Niners Broncos, you talk about like two great offensive minds
as head coaches. One of them is not calling the plays right now, and so that's a complicated deal.
But I'll just, let me start by saying this. I think Kyle Shanahan, if there's anybody I truly
feel bad for as a head coach, it's him. He should have a couple rings by now. And whether it's
the injuries or the way his players have executed on the biggest stage, you know, the overthrow
in the Super Bowl or Drake Greenlaw popping his Achilles against Kansas City. I think they win that
Super Bowl, if not for that. I just, I love Kyle Shanahan. It's amazing what this team is able to do
hitting the curveball year after year and the injuries are piling up as we speak, but they find a way
in a lower scoring game through most of it where the Broncos actually stopped the run to kind of run away
with it at a point in this game. And so obviously the MIMS fumbled factor, MIMS fumble factored in,
but what did you take away from that matchup, you know, on the San Francisco side,
but also is it a Davis Webb problem or is it a, is it a Boenix problem?
Well, I'll start with the second part.
It's kind of fitting Gears of Wars back out.
Have you ever played that game?
My brother loved Gears of War.
I watched them play it a lot.
Well, they use human meat shields in Gears of War.
It kind of feels like Davis Webb a little bit right now.
Yeah.
For Sean Payton.
But no, going with the 49ers side.
And with this offseason, we did like a play caller's draft, you know, just having fun with that offense, defense, whatever you want to say.
And Shannon has the belt to me.
He's still the top guy.
Yeah.
Because it's not like he's reinventing the wheel with anything, any of the concepts he does.
But just how he uses his personnel is just so, it's so great.
And just like knowing what his guys are, even like the kiddle touchdown at the end, you know, to put it away like that.
They have a third string tight end in there because you should.
check is hurt you know like you talked about injuries piling up if you ever notice what
shanning hand offenses it's they never get penalties for stuff everybody knows what they're doing when
they break the huddle yeah and they it's not and they have so much motion and formation diversity
and these guys always know what they're doing and he's always been like that always even stood out to
me as first year as a head coach in sanfran in 2017 the guys played hard they weren't making
mistakes it was just they had no talent um and now they have some talent now it's getting you know
battered but even that that screen you know most guys you know in a four minute drill this is kind of
continuing with the Patriots did throwing it in the four minute drill in this game in the four
minute drill they're running the screen but it wasn't just like oh throw a tight end screen because
they might blitz because vance joseph is an emotional blitzer yeah no they all right here's cover
zero the formation there was splitbacks third string tight end is in motion there and you can see uh you
can see like the kind of like the broncos trying to sort it out because they're in cover zero so
with a corner bumps out,
Fonga has to bump out with the tight end,
the second tight end,
Luke Farrell.
And then the backside safety is like,
oh, shoot, I got Kittle.
And so he has to bump all the way over
and it's at the snap.
And so, yeah,
anyone can run a tight end screen
thinking you're going to get cover zero.
But are you doing it with that motion,
that play design to pop a guy open,
create angles,
create hesitation from the defense.
And on top of it,
Shanahan is kind of now leaning into non-zone runs.
You know,
he's the zone guy.
And now like the gap scheme and the duo scheme stuff that they're doing is just really cool and really effective.
Next-in-Stats, I can look at actually run scheme stuff now.
And there's second and success rate, non-zone run.
So gap scheme, man scheme, five point four yards per carry, third and first down rate.
And zone runs are actually kind of more mid now for them.
But again, he's leaning into it going like, okay, that's what we are now.
You saw Debo Samuel in the backfield getting a counter, like just a straight up counter run from an offset.
that like just little tweaks on his personnel and knowing kind of like what he sets up in
previous games and previous series and it's like that's why at the right moments it feels
like they always have the right play call and the guys execute it so no it's awesome stuff and
I just thought too is that I think the foreign areas defense is getable like you can run on
them you can run duo on them all day but the Broncos aren't set up that way and it's like
shouldn't you be with this great old line but we talk about this up we've talked me and
don't want to talk about this at length.
The Broncos are trying to, you know,
it looks like they're trying to square a peg
around hold this deal sometimes in the run game
where it's like, yeah, it should make sense
that they just get on the doubles down
and lean on people, but they actually
don't look like that suits them.
Like they look like more of a zone running team.
And it is kind of confusing.
But on the San Francisco.
They have giant receivers too, who should be,
that's usually helps out duo.
It should be, yeah.
These big burly receivers running, you know,
moan down dbs and maybe getting fitting up on a linebacker even and it's like and they get two yards
of pop on those and so yeah i also thought last year they didn't run their screens well like on
the perimeter and like a lot of it was like they weren't blocking them up well and like to me like
again you look at the profile of some of these guys i'm like bro why not it's really it's really
confusing but but about the nineers why do you think they've made these little tweaks like what
is it just staying ahead of the curve is it just throwing a curve ball is it or is it uh to better suit
you know, some sort of little personality or personnel changes on their offense.
I think it's some diversity.
I also think it's just what the defenses are playing against them.
You can run counter if you're getting too high in lighter boxes.
And it's, I think also, you know, run game, now we're in two years in a row where explosive runs are like a league low rate, you know, of the new millennium.
Yeah.
Like, it's really hard to get explosive runs right now.
I know you guys just talked about chiefs, which is like they're just popping them off like candy.
But no, they got an extra factor.
Yeah, they got a guy.
He's going to break 20 taxes a game, dude.
It feels like.
And if he doesn't, he'll outrun the other guys.
That's right.
But gap scheme runs are more boom bust.
And if you're getting too high, then you want to run counter or power, like that is the box count that you can run it against.
So I think that's some of it.
And because they're so funky with their personnel, hey, we have debone the backfield.
We split out CMC into the slot.
A lot of defense goes, all right, we're just going to run quarters against us.
Like, screw that.
We're not going to sort this out.
We're just going to cast a safety net over it.
All right.
So let's just run counter against it.
We're getting great looks for it.
So let's just run it.
And they got some personnel that route.
Like Dominic Poonie is great on down blocks.
Like, you know, they got some burgliness there that might fit their style a little bit more.
But I think it's just him.
But you mentioned square peg round hole.
I think it's him just going like, I'm not going to fight this.
Might as well just lean into it and just use these changeups and fit kind of some of the motion stuff we're doing too.
More for some of some of their duo scheme as well.
When I watch the Niners,
It always looks to me like, and I'm a defensive lineman grunt who's learning the game as I go in this chapter of my life, like on the back end and schematically offensively from a play caller standpoint.
And there are sometimes, I have no idea what a coordinator is doing.
I'm just like, hey, this is just running play, it's not calling a game.
And Shanahan not only calls a game relentlessly, he's, oh, and you said it, like setting things up.
But everything within a play is intentional.
There's no wasted player on the field.
like every angle, every motion.
It's not just, oh, we just need more motion.
You know, we're hoping we can get these guys to bump, dude.
It's, no, it's always, there's always a little wrinkle that if you play coast.
It looks like they're playing a different sport than a lot of these offenses.
You know, you look at Philly's offense.
I mean, you know, I got done talking about them.
But, like, it's, yeah, Niners are awesome offensively.
Defensively, I'm impressed with Rahim Morris, just being able to maximize the talent they have,
especially with Nick Bosa down.
And then from the Broncos end of things, like before this season, and I don't mean this
to be like an asshole, but I kind of thought the 13 and four Broncos is like a fraudulent idea.
You know, like last year, it depended on so much variability, like overcoming so much
offensive variability, like the inconsistency, the punts, the three and outs, you know,
and their defense is really fucking good.
but I don't know that it's the kind of defense that can overcome that every week of every season.
Like their defense can get got and we've seen it happen.
And honestly, right now in the NFL,
I don't know if there's too many defenses with the Texans playing the way they're playing
or you see some hiccups from the Seahawks with the injuries they have, you know.
Eagles and the Eagles and the eagles and banged up.
I know.
I agree.
So there's,
so to me,
so what's the problem?
Because we watch Davis Webb and I try not to get into the group thing,
thing where I'm like oh god all the Broncos fans hate him why don't I hate him like I don't think that
like I understand some of the things he's doing and and I see plays out there on the field but I think
bo leaves some things out there on the field and I don't know at this point if bow is just not like a
quick process or what what is going on with him but to me you can't put it all on davis web
when they had a lot of the same issues with inconsistency last year oh no it's the same quarterback it's just now
a lot of bounces don't go their way.
And when I say the same quarterback, like, this is the stat I had was just Knicks from
inside the pocket yesterday.
He had an average area to the stick.
So wherever the first down marker, it changes, you know, if it's first and 10,
if it's second and five, just relevant to where the first down marker is.
It was negative 4.3.
That is, and if your run game's not cooking, that it's impossible to win that way.
Because you're not generating the chunks you need.
It's like you're trying to play small ball and baseball, but then it's like, we're
terrible at contact too you know like all right so we can't even get on base if you're trying to live
that way and like you mentioned some of the screen stuff that they lean into especially like on second
along they it's kind of telegraphed here comes the swing screen yeah you know here comes that
but even on top of it Sean Peyton like I think there's some misconceptions of what a Sean
Peyton offense is I know it's Davis Webb but it's a Sean Payton offense is that it's that late
career Drew Brees who is just nickel and dime like that a Sean Payton offense is a launch ball
offense. It's heavy play action, bombs away. Overs and posts and deep corners and launch it. I mean,
if you watch the Bears, the Bears run more of a Champaign offense than Sean Payton does right now,
or Davis Webb. The Lamar with the Ravens right now. But right now, Bo Nix doesn't let plays breathe.
And it's his eyes come down and when they shouldn't even come down. It's not like pressures
getting to them. They make these big, juicy pockets, huge pockets. And he looks for the checkdown right
away. Yeah. So it's one of those where it's like you got to push it. Like this is why the dudes are
the dudes when I say, you know, the Mahomes is the Allen's, the Lamar's, like those guys are
the guys, Drake May at times, you know, Burrow, like Dak, like Jordan Love, like those guys are
pushing the ball. And they, yeah, they might make a mistake, but guess what, you got to strike
out to hit O'em Ron. And it just seems like to him, even though he has a big arm, he's a great
athlete, he doesn't want to use it. And it's times where it's frustrating because it's
not like even me as a tough QB grader going like, oh, it might be there if you throw it open.
It's wide-ass open overroutes on what is the intent of the design.
And I think that's what's frustrating me if I watch it is that the play is designed to hit that over, hit that dig.
And he doesn't even let the play breathe.
He's looking down at the checkdown already.
And defenses, defenders know that.
And it catches up to you, especially a defense like that that's playing top down and wants to squish everything and make everything tight.
if you don't pop off the top, all right,
safeties are just going to go,
all right,
let's play at nine yards.
You know,
like let's play at eight yards.
Like then the checkdowns become worse.
The screens become worse.
There's a trickle down.
And that's what doesn't make sense.
To me,
Nate was like,
Bo Nix has got the arm.
And, you know,
like he's got the mobility to buy the time
and change the launch point
and hit that deep over that comes open.
And, you know,
I just,
yeah,
you put it,
you put it really well.
When you watch this group,
It's like there's money left out there.
And that's why I've been a little bit hesitant to just dump on the OC.
And the other thing is, I think this, as much as any team in the NFL, they could use an explosive back.
And, you know, Coleman has got to be that guy for him when he's healthy.
And, you know, like, I've just never been a, like, J.K. Dobbins is a good back, but he's not one that scares you.
And so I look at this group and I say, you know, they've got whether it's the scheme up front with the
run game and there have been hiccups and I've watched mark slareth almost have a fucking aneurysm
at the way they run in like outside zone or that sort of thing but I think the bigger problem is
they don't have a back that that can change the game and the quarterback right now is not is not
buying into the offense so I you know but but the Niners they just keep winning other than that
like the Broncos you know they should be right back where they were last year sorry cowboy read our
producer read is a big Broncos guy but he they're going to be
be in a lot of games.
Go ahead.
It's like, it's going to be tight.
Shit on your team for a second.
No, it sucks.
Do you have any questions for Nate Tice about the Broncos?
Can you tell all of that two-bo-nicks somehow?
I'm sure they are.
Okay.
I'm sure they are.
All right.
All right.
So a couple more games.
Colts commanders, I love international games.
I love waking up in the morning and watching one game.
Like seeing one game at a time is like such a blessing.
Like when you get it, a standalone game for somebody who has to watch the games.
Awesome.
And my kids can watch with me and everything.
That having been said, that was a really dog shit football game for a while.
And Daniel Jones looked like, Daniel Jones looked like he was out all night in London,
the way he started that football game.
And I guess the only say one nice thing about both teams, if you can.
Jonathan Taylor, Taylor still rocks.
I knew he would be.
And they can still, Tony Soprano Jr., the offensive line coach,
they can dial up some run game stuff.
So there's that.
And I like Shane Steichen O, big script is really nice.
I will say that.
Like he does some interesting play designs and tries to eke his guys.
They're built out of slot receivers and tight ends right now.
So it's like, all right, Tower Warren, you're outside.
So we can make, Keene Allen was hurt.
But we make sure we get, you know, downs on the slot.
So I'll say that.
You look at downs a lot yesterday for anybody that had a downs prop.
Holy shit.
And there's a lot more than everybody else.
Yeah.
No, I know.
That's why all the slots now are big.
big burly power slots it's the name of the game right now it's it's those tiny guys are dying
um you know i have qualms of pop douglas too uh but no and then the other side of the ball
commanders are doing actually some interesting stuff on defense uh and sunny styles rocks i will say that
but they are doing some interesting stuff it doesn't always work there's some botches that they have
but they're they're trying they're trying to do some stuff and like i i actually appreciate that
rather than there's some teams that lack talent sometimes and they're just like
like the Lions D.Bs.
Let's just run man coverage again.
It's like, hey, it's not working for you.
It's running a little cover two or something,
something funky here that changes up.
I do appreciate them.
But, you know, I just,
I just did this.
My wheels were spinning here for a while.
I do think a lot of its personnel,
but yeah,
some of it is the DC.
The thing about the commanders is,
there's definitely, like, positives on this.
Like, you know, again, like the defensive front's been good in the run game.
Like yesterday they got a,
as the game went on, they kind of got moved a little bit.
But, you know, and they rolled out a ruckers quarterback,
which hasn't happened since, like, 1940.
And the kid actually, like, he was not afraid.
He looks Amish.
He looks like an Amish Lane Staley.
I said his last name is Greek for a crash test dummy.
Yeah.
I mean, that has to be the translation for it.
Yeah, because that was, man, getting thrown into the fire.
But he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he.
you know what i'd be proud if i were him on that plane ride home he played his but but yeah the
you can tell his teammates were fired up for him yes he came off the so obviously he's a good dude like
yes you got to be as a backup quarterback otherwise why you're here if you're a bad guy as a backup
quarterback yeah you can't you can't it's just no there's no um no that and i mean shoot
they like it wasn't much of a difference in those passing games when it was all said and done
like as far as production wise which that's right i was care i'd be curious if marriota
played all four quarters how that game would end it up because I think it would have been close
about them I think it would have been close I think mariotta yeah we talk about him as a guy that's like
he's a bridge plus so but yeah no I feel bad for Dan quang because he's just had nothing but bad luck
since he's been there you know with the start that jaden daniels got off to and some of the
injuries and that sort of thing like it really sucks because the defense is doing a good job
considering hey you know what Detroit could have done is not let meek robertson walk right he's he's a good
Maybe could have used him.
Okay.
Starting quality.
Yeah.
So Ravens Titans, all I want to know, obviously Lamar got hurt in this game.
The Ravens were taking care of business.
And this was the close your eyes special on the O and four teams or the O and three teams yesterday,
which actually paid out pretty well with the Dolphins too.
But the Titans end up with the late cover.
And I think to me it's all about the Cam Ward Watch.
I said on the show, I have a little calendar in my room that every Sunday I go in
I check his cam ward good yet and every Sunday I check no but I know at some point I'm
going to check yes because I'm just a cam ward fan small hands and all nonchalant attitude he didn't
want to wait to answer questions I'll give you more on that in a little bit but like uh I think
cam ward just needs to cam ward just needs to not get hurt and cam ward needs to just keep building
bro like i don't know how like i he's we're 20 games into the fucking his career and the people that
write him off to me it's just a little premature um he's got all the tools i you know that dan or lozky
got in trouble he said that's what a quarterback supposed to look like about justin herbert i've got
the same thing for cam ward i think that's when i see him throw a football i think he needs to become more
of a passer and less of a thrower underneath take a little bit off some of these bbs work on the ball
placement but the guy can make all the throws and I think he sees the field now what do you see so far from
cam ward and am I crazy nope not at all I actually was surprised by some of the takeaways last week
where it seemed like everybody got the same memo to like he's not a franchise quarterback and everybody
said it at once you know it's like an agent texting all the reporters like hey hey this is who they're
signing and then they all send the same tweet out uh you know the first interception was whatever that was a
fluke play but I really think like I think you put it great I think he sees the game really well I think
he I've said this before is that he seems unorthodox but it's actually fundamentally sound
um I've compared him to the skateboarder Rodney Mullen uh where it's just like this is yeah like
dark slide you know the vendor of the kickflip all that stuff where it's like yeah that looks
funky but he actually like he's doing the fundamentals really well and when I say fundamentals
timing on the play eyes movement
in the pocket. He's underrated movement. I know he takes a bunch of sacks, but also last year
was a train wreck. This year, I actually really like what the Titans offensive line coach is doing,
Carmen Brissillo. Latham's playing well. Latham's playing really well. And they're sound,
like they're doing, they're trying stuff. And I appreciate it. And, you know,
dable's dable. But I do think Ward, like there's, even with some of the negatives, I understand
why the negative happened. And that's a lot of process for quarterbacks. It's like,
there's a difference between him and when
Zach Wilson was out there or J. G.
McCarthy. And I was like, wow, bullets start
flying, that game is too fast for them.
It's not too fast for Cam Ward. It's actually
like jokingly seems like it's too slow
at times. It's too slow. He's too nonchalon
at times. Yeah,
but there's a purpose to how he plays.
And again, I can never always
point out of stat, but there's a lot of good
stuff he does. And, you know, he tricks
shots stuff, but there's a reason for it. He can
throw all the throws, like you mentioned.
He works over the middle. He's willing
to put into tight spaces. He tries to throw with anticipation. He has a throw against the Eagles on third
down that he throws it three steps before the guy's crossing behind the defender. He tries that
stuff every week. And it's not like, hey, he's just tricks on it. It's like, no, there's a purpose to him
doing that when you watch it and see the safeties and see everything going on. And again, even the
Giants game, there's positive takeaways. The second half, he was on fire. Yeah. Yeah. And
that game was rained at 40 mile an hour Gus and compare him with James. And I was like, well, actually,
coming away well actually more impressed with what cam's doing here um and i know how but that's the thing
you just sounded like our boy rissillo that's a ricilloism actually i came away more impressed he gets a lot
of shit i've been it rubbed off on you much yeah i know i actually said that on his show this morning
i was like i think he's gonna think i'm making fun of him but now yeah no no no no it's i do it all
the time to make fun of him but but uh but yeah no i came away fucking take away that last throw
which is a huge throw to miss and to make in the end zone.
But I thought they took way too long just like opening it up for him a little bit in the second half.
At some point you're going to have to fail.
And, you know, he's done it.
You just, this is, hey, listen, Robert Sala, hey, man, you have, I think, a franchise quarterback in the building.
It's not going to be this year for this team.
Like, you got to develop the quarterback.
And to your point, like, they're on their way.
But there's more positive signs than you would think for what I even,
how there's some of these games have gone it's like there's there's some good stuff happening there
even if it's not totally apparent and also the quarterback class it's not like you're at like you know it's not
as deep as or as top heavy as maybe you know I think arch is still very good but it's just you know
the other guys are kind of like they're interesting are they better than cam ward as a prospect we'll
see but yeah I don't know there's a lot of good stuff with them all right yeah so anyways I guess you're
a truther as well but um and then the last yeah at one point I was a truth or I'm not a truer anymore
on Justin Herbert, and we got to hit this Seattle game.
You know, I got to hand it to them.
They showed a lot of toughness trying to battle back in that game,
and nobody's given up in that building.
All the reports suggest otherwise that I've read,
but that's hearsay.
What I see on the field is a quarterback that I've arrived at the conclusion
over a few years.
You know, like, listen, tantalizing skill set, the whole thing, the invisible skill set is here.
And nobody's calling him dumb because quarterback smarts is different than being a rocket scientist.
I mean, he's obviously a smart guy.
He's the kind of guy that I would see, like, he's got this Steve Jobs vibe to him.
You know, like he, like, I would think he'd be like a tech bro or something.
But when he gets in the field, I just don't think it bears out.
I think he's a little bit of a slower processor.
and I think he likes concepts that develop, you know, a little bit longer.
And, you know, he's got the tackle play, at least until this season, where you think,
hey, that would suit them well.
And I also thought, like, Mike McDaniel coming in and running outside zone, like, you know,
on paper, boy, does it sound good, you know, and it sounds like a fit.
But now I watch him and I'm saying it's not a fit.
And, you know, that doesn't mean I'm absolving Justin Herbert.
Like, he at some point has to develop that killer instance.
and you know that it thing that we're looking for from him
and we haven't seen it,
but I also don't think the offense fits.
And I'm curious after four games,
if you think like,
if you own the chargers
and you had to walk downstairs and make a decision,
are you saying,
hey, you've got to change the offense to suit the quarterback,
or are you saying, hey, we got to stick with the process here?
Or is it just not going to happen this pairing?
I think, I don't think the pairing is going to happen,
out as I bought into it. I thought this offense would be super explosive. I figured there'd be
some learning curve because of how much motion and all the stuff they use. But it's just,
he's always felt robotic to me. And I've always liked Justin Herbert. I haven't gone out over my
skis with him. I've never called him elite. I just get grouped in with people that have said that
for some reason. But I obviously see the skill set. I call he's a tier two guy, which I've always called
him that. But if you ever notice is how many times he gets balls batted. And usually when you're
getting balls batted, Bo Nix, is because you're late on something and then you're trying
to gun it in there. And then as you know, the defense of lineman, get those hands up. You see
that motion starting, get those hands up. And that always been apparent to me, even when he's
been confident in an offense and just, which he hasn't been in a while. And I really do think
that the offense is that best suit them is the guy that's retired right now. It's like Bruce Ariens.
That's the type of offense he's got to be in. It's all got to be downfield. It's got to be,
it doesn't it shouldn't be time or I was going to say it shouldn't be timing it shouldn't be space
reading and that's what that those offenses that shanaham voids do is those voids exactly you know
it has to be to a spot and throw it like 16 yards and you know exactly what the receivers at
and I'm thrown to this area like he is a very by definition quarterback for better for worse and
everyone's had to try to eke out him scrambling which he does and he answers the bell usually
when he's kind of like, hey, you have to work on this.
Everything kind of always felt robotic when you watch him.
And I just really think some of it was processing sometimes.
It's so by the book.
And it's one of those if you watch the crazies we talked about, again, Lamar, Mahomes, Josh Allen, May, all these guys.
They can just do a little bit more as far as just being creative.
Like just kind of just getting, kind of eking out different things than what the play was designed.
And so if the play design is good and everybody's healthy, everyone's good.
Yeah.
Holy crap.
ceiling is ridiculous but there's just something like you I agree there's something just a little
missing where it's just I bet you he's amazing on the whiteboard oh yeah and there's you know it's just
some quarterback's like I was great on the whiteboard but once the bullets started flying I sucked
yeah it's the thing too is that I want to say what mistakes he's some of the mistakes he's
he's making is that you know tip balls whatever guys dropping or whatever yes that's happened
the CJ Garner Johnson pick against the bills is the one that's staying out standing out to me
that C.J. Garner Johnson, it was cover three, deep safety, a post safety because he is guarding the goalpost on a post route.
Yes. And he throws a post route with no disguise, nothing. And he throws it right to him. And that's where I'm like, oh, you're just, what are you seeing? Because it's not like he got fooled and there's a weird cover two look. Like he just threw like a JV, not JV, but like a high school pick. And that's where to MVS as well. Like, you know, no offense to NVS. But.
like again why are you going to him as your primary on that yeah I know but he's a 3 and D guy
deep balls and blocking but I don't know it's though so just the mistakes he's making are not
again the process isn't as clean as you'd hoping to be but I will say the Chargers fought he's
randomly this weird guy like some quarterbacks are like this they need to get hit to chill out
yeah and he's one of those guys but hopefully it's not a rib shot you know that you know like
breaks a rib you but he's one of those guys
that definitely needs to kind of get okay all right shaking out of kind of like his pregame funk because
i don't know but it's kind of been very disappointing even on top of some of the botches that offense
has there's been moments but man just everybody lacks consistency right now yeah it's tough man i i
put him in the category squarely of somebody like i'll when you when you show me i'll be there
but until then it's just going to be the same story and with the seahawks a lot of you know texans defense
taking their lumps and they should i mean like they played some good offenses but they're not the group
they were last year, especially in today's current form. The Seahawks have had some, like,
they don't look like juggernauts defensively, at least when you turn on the film or when you,
when you add up the points, you know, so holding them to that same standard, what do you think's
wrong besides just saying, hey, injuries? Well, some of their depth is gone, you know,
some of these guys that were tangible players when your rotation just cuts down by a couple
guys, you know, it's still not as deep. I'm saying up front.
I do think some offenses, I wouldn't say has the book on or has the book on them,
but they have better answers than they did last year.
McDonald is still incredible at some of the game planning tweaks that he does and just like,
you know, it just changes some of those cover six looks or guys carry.
I do think they have some issues right now.
Like I like Devin Witherspoon a lot.
He said playing the slot and outside like in Seattle.
Some of the stuff in kind of the intermediate areas, that seam areas, a hook areas.
Like that kind of just doesn't feel as like tight.
So I do think like high lows are working better than they did last year.
Safeties aren't clamping down as quickly as they did last year where these guys were so smart.
Like, hey, we're running this is the quarter side.
Here comes a high low.
You know, here comes a dig.
And they just smother it.
And I think teams learned that you have to stay aggressive against them on early downs.
Like there are still down stuff up on third downs.
If your protections aren't sound, that's what happened to Patriots, having to chargers, a few teams.
But I think teams have figured out.
It's like stay aggressive on early downs and we can get them a couple times.
And so that's where it's just.
I wouldn't say they have the book on them, but it's like, you know, they've lost some venom.
They definitely have.
It's palpable when you watch it.
Well, that's fair.
And, you know, I keep waiting for the Seahawks to play a normal game against like a, never like a game that's like, you know, other than Monday night, it's just been kind of like we've gotten to the Seahawks on the back half of the show and everything because they played Washington with the backup.
And, you know, this week they played the Chargers who everybody is like that game might as well have happened.
Like, I don't know, in another country.
So, Seahawks fans, I'm sorry, at some point, we will dive deeper into what's happening with your team.
But as always, Nate Tice, absolute 10 out of 10 guests makes my job easier on this Monday morning.
Buy weeks are coming, bro.
So we get a couple less games a week, man, like a little bit more R&R.
And, you know, you can really dive into some of these games a little deeper.
So I appreciate you helping us get through this heavy lift.
no they're actually at me anytime dude yeah you're the best appreciate you and take care of ryan

dude dude believe me i my my have seen their schedule yeah it's he's you you're
They can get there, but I don't want to get killed for saying it.
But I don't know about the division.
And we're about to talk about the Jaggs, bro.
Because you can't convince me that it-
We're starting to build up the Jags.

to build a little, a little, uh, I wanted to bring you your steak first and then the main
course is the Jags. I do want to tell you about the steak, though, it is Arby's. I knew it from
the jump. You didn't know that. I asked you if it was Arby's as soon as you guys brought it over.
Then you were like, hmm. Can we introduce you to the chef? Look at the chef. This is Chef Ken.
Chef Ken. Chef Kenneth Walker. You see that? Chef Ken. But it was pretty good, though.
It was not. But you ate the whole thing. He ate the whole thing, dude.
10 out of 10. 10. 10. Yeah.
I was going with the bit guys.
Like for the, for the small chance it was from a local chef,
I don't want to shit on them on the show and be like, first off,
like what restaurant you guys are going to?
First off.
Like a steak like a fucking,
like you're doing it for a goddamn three-year-old.
Bro, you know what's so funny?
I, for the longest time of my life,
was cut my steak up like a toddler.
It wasn't until like Super Bowl 2020 that I wanted dinner with like Rosillo and a couple
people and big cat and they brought me out up and they said a steak and here i go just cutting it up
cutting in little squares and everybody just started it started crying laughing it was like i had the
i was mr crabs yeah like i had braces i had braces as an adult and i did that when i had my
braces but otherwise i just do it because i eat fast and i'm like man i don't want to cut between bites
but now i'm totally with everybody unless we have an arby's deal on the table that shit was not it was
not good. It's probably like a four. Well, you just
ruined the Arby's bag.
I don't think the steak bites is
the highlight of their
menu. Curly fries? 10
out of 10, always.
The curly fries are incredible.
You know what else is incredible? Right now the Jacksonville
Jaguars are
a fucking, you know,
you hear I said it, one of
and this is faxes squad,
he's got the mini helmet.
But they are playing like one of the best
three teams in the AFC. I'd put them on the podium right now, which there's no exact science
to this. And maybe we need to start doing power rankings. Why the fuck not? Everybody's doing it.
We should do a power ranking in the future. But this is a team that's playing like an AFC elite.
And they have been for the better part of the last, as we put it, what, a week ago? It's 10, 11 games now
of excellence. And you know what I liked about this game? I mean, a lot of people are looking at this
game and saying, oh, the Jags win ugly, you know, the Jaggs overcome 13 penalties, you know,
but I think if you're a Jags fan, you look at this and say, there was a thing of beauty,
because you heard the talk coming to the game about, hey, the Jaggs have never won a game
with a total of over 50 points. The thing about this game was these two teams play as slow as
anybody in the NFL. And I was shocked to find that out. Pace of play, these are two of the slower
pace playing teams. And I think the defenses are both better than people give credit for. And I think
the Jags now, I mean, I was talking to Baldi this week about this game. And he's like, man, I think
the Jags have the best defense in the league. What's the way some of these other elite defenses are
playing, the team speed that you have, and now I think with Travis Hunter finally using him,
the way you're fucking supposed to.
I mean, he looks like he could be all world,
which is what we said coming out.
Be a corner, you're a corner.
His ceiling as a corner is so high
compared to a ceiling as a receiver.
So I mean, listen, they shut down the run.
The windows close fast.
You got defensive tackles that stand people up.
Like you really do have some stout guys,
but the thing that impresses me about this team
is the way they tackle and the way they swarm to the football.
And the way the second level guys,
fill gaps fast.
And you saw that in this game.
You know, you're in lighter personnel at times, you know, facing the Cincinnati run attacking.
Guys are coming from depth and they are blowing plays up.
And so, I mean, like, you got to tip your cap to a team that lost Evan Lloyd and people
thought, I mean, you probably thought that too that they would probably.
I wasn't happy to see him going, but I just, now I just respect the coaching staff.
Camp is a beast.
Yeah, what they have going on down there, it's obvious that whoever they get in the building,
whoever's on the field, you're going to have to get with the program to want to play down there.
And I feel like they're just getting the right personnel and guys are all playing together.
And it's just a defense that you can kind of tell that even when stuff goes bad, they do give up some chunk plays.
Everyone can refocus and get with like, hey, we're not we're not giving up touchdowns or we're looking for a takeaway.
Well, they're the one.
They lead the league in red zone takeaway.
Absolutely.
And last year, you know, hey, I do this with every team
where if you have a bunch of takeaways
and it's out of nowhere,
I want to see it a second year in a row.
Like the turnover regression thing is,
there's a high rate of success on predicting regressions.
But they haven't regressed in that area of the field,
which is huge.
I mean, you had the pick against the Patriots.
You had, I mean, shit,
I remember going back to last year,
like when they played the Chiefs and they beat the Chiefs,
they had a huge turnover.
they force the road.
When the field gets smaller, I just feel like camp,
they're just dialing up the right defenses at the right time
to put guys in position to make plays.
And are guys just over the past, what, like year and a half
or a year plus so, just been capitalizing off
all those opportunities.
And if it keeps up that way, just like you said,
to win the turnover ratio in the game,
your win percentage just goes up.
It goes way, way up.
And we have an offense, obviously,
in a quarterback that's capable where
if you're going to give Trevor
two extra possessions
in a game, I mean, I like our
odds in a lot of those games.
Well, and it's the backbreaking
nature of like they make you work very
hard to get down there and you get down there
and Burrow, he played like
shit. I'm not saying all game.
I mean, like, but that pick is
unforgivable because for me
you get the motion, I think,
I don't know, fuck, how are you going to
how are you going to fool? But they,
they motion.
over it doesn't there's no follow so i don't know if he thinks it's zone i don't know if that's a little
disguise wrinkle but it's not something that nobody's seeing where like you you see somebody follow
the mesh route or you know the the crosser and you just totally ignore he was the whole player
whatever it was but it was like he threw it right to the backer so part jacksonville disguising and
and catching the fucking ball but burrow what are you doing bro what do you do the first pick
to me is a result of the Jags doing something.
They got one back too.
The first pick to me is a result of the Jags taking advantage of
since he's Achilles heel right now, which is that left tackle.
Orlando Brown has become a real issue.
I mean, it's every game.
And, you know, I think it was Heinz Allen lined up over there
and ran right into Burrow or ran him right into Burrow.
And that's what the first pick is about.
This game changed for me.
Like, listen, I do think it could have gone either way if Chase is up,
but there's no excuses.
You couldn't beat man coverage when he left.
Because when he left,
there was no man coverage that I think Jacksonville played prior.
And then after he left,
they were playing at like 20% of the time.
I think Burr was 55% completion,
35 rating and one interception against man coverage.
And that's exactly what you saw
without counting it up or anything.
You go to the film and you're saying,
like, who are the guys that are going to win for you outside T. Higgins?
And T. Higgins is a great receiver.
But, and he coach you.
That's the only thing that scares me is just that after Chase went out, it's like, hey,
you kind of know where the ball is going for them in the air.
I also think he's that good.
No, I do too.
Like, I'm not going to dock the Jags over that.
Like, listen, like, they had some guys down in the secondary, but they're rolling there.
They feel good about the corners they rolled out.
And, you know, I think when you look at this game, it's since he's inability to run the football,
it's since he's inability to beat man coverage underneath which the jags deserve a lot of credit for like i felt
like a lot of what joe had to do was outside the numbers you know and they make you make harder throws
um and then they try to get into these r pos and screens and they it's not the right defense to do that
against because these guys are so fast and the other thing is this once franklin caused that er not franklin
i always get him mixed up with orlando franklin who was this big giant tackle that i play god bless
In Miami, right?
Miami.
Orlando Brown, once he got beat and forced that pick,
they had to chip out probably 75% of their past plays,
the rest of the game.
And, you know, Mims is over there.
He's not sweating.
Like, Mims is a dog, dude.
Mims is, like, at this point, I'm pretty comfortable saying Mims is, like, that dude.
But they have a major problem at left tackle,
and what happens is you end up with less guys in the route.
and you know you're not only down chase but then you got less guys out in the route i just for me this was
uh once chase went down it was tough sledding and and uh and that left tackles a problem so
but Travis hunter is happening as we speak dude every week he does something I love it and you got to be
happy for that dude because he's just one of the most likable players in the league and he also
is one of the most unique talents in the league and I'm glad that they they stopped chasing this
fucking idea that they're going to get a slash player that's going to play 140 snaps a game.
Like, please, dude.
Like, if he becomes a top five corner in the NFL, the pick is plenty justified.
Like, having a guy like that changes everything.
And one pick got taken away.
The thing that impressed me, Nate, was, and again, you got that dude calling plays and
Liam Cohen.
He circled those Sincy linebackers, and he said, I'm going to put the,
motherfuckers in a blender the backside hook defenders were in hell they were just running people off
and then and then you know watching these backers or you know safeties come down and watch traffic
fly right across their face into voids that trevers hitting late and downs um you know they also
had you know the cameron kid in the flat for an explosive and there's a guy that you find that
nobody thinks is going to be a big part of i mean maybe jags fans thought
So but kind of like an unorthodox body type coming out the whole thing
He looks like a part of the a part of the solution for him for them
It really is and I feel like if anything if anything I just feel like in that wide receiver room right now
He's putting the necessary pressure on PTJ to to get to get his stuff together because we all know he's a great wide receiver
But he gets the yips. Yeah, he had a touchdown, but
But it's like how long-
Clustered coverage.
Yeah.
You got these no-name safeties back there.
That's another thing is busted coverage.
But still, in the past, you still got to catch those for someone like him.
He caught the ball.
Yeah, no, and he caught the ball.
Hercules.
Exactly.
And the fact that we're even saying that is kind of crazy.
But I love that this kid Jordan Cameron, he's just, he's filling into his role.
But also, if people are paying attention or not, he plays all the special teams.
He does everything.
He returns punt.
He's running down on kickoff, making tackles.
and I don't know how long that goes on for a guy
if you keep doing well enough.
I think forever.
Yeah, if that's going to be your role.
But I feel like what he's doing on the offensive side
and how he's helping out and how Trevor is finding him
and he's not dropping passes.
I think he had a huge PI call that he forced.
So it's something where if he can get into the offense more
and he's going to help us out,
it's going to be interesting to see how he's going to do
like for Jacksonville over however long.
he's going to be down there he's a guy and i don't want to call him a gadget guy because it's reductive but he's a
guy that just adds another element to your offense and yeah he's different than b tj and he's different
than all these other guys but honestly i'd rather have him out there getting snaps than fucking
than uh than Travis hunter like i would just rather see you know because i just think it takes away from
the focus on being one of the best corners in the game which i think he has the physical tools to be that
and so i love the fact they pivot they started to just grab it's like uh it's kind of like me with the
Jags. You know, like, I didn't think it was sustainable. I was wrong. They have to slowly admit
that this vision they had for Travis Hunter is not maybe where we end up, but like he's going to be,
he's going to be special. But then on that interception that they call back, you see the glimpse of what
happens when he does have the ball. Well, great. Go get him the ball. But, like, yeah, I do hear you.
You know, like, as much I'd love to see Nick Eman Worry with the ball in his hands or something,
like let him play defense, you know, like they have. You know, like, they have.
him yesterday rushing the passer but but no i i'm just saying all i'm saying is not taking anything
away from the jaggs and glastone who like listen they they they nailed the player but they
probably didn't understand they they kind of came into it with a different idea of what it was going to be
and and this is the right vision right now and so listen they got a chance to be i mean they got a
chance to be hell for people if the defense plays like this in january and and you know the way
Trevor's playing, this wasn't a game where you're asking him to win it by himself, but he made
all the throws he had to make. And this is the thing I like about this team and going back into
the, hey, they're not all going to be shootouts. You win an ugly game like this. Ugly. That doesn't
mean your offense played ugly. It just means, you know, a lot of penalties, lower scoring,
defense had to stand up and make some plays.
Bengals could have won. Bengals had chances to. They had plenty of chances. They had plenty of chances.
So again, like, I'm not going to make this a Bengals dump.
session i think they're a good football team i actually thought from a tackling perspective
other than the fucking first third and 18 of the game um you know just just whiffing on strange or
whoever it was like you know you haven't backed up i'm like here we go again but they they answered
the bell a little bit compared like last week when i tell you that stealers tape was ugly it was like
the type of tape that like everybody's in the meeting room 10 minutes before the meeting and just like
nobody's talking all you hear is people clearing their throats and then the door swings up
up and then DC walks in and you're like fuck here we go like that's how bad it was last week for
censey so i thought they rebounded in a lot of ways that offense is different when jimar goes down
it just is and and joe jow made one too many fatal fucking mistakes and that's two weeks in a row
honestly that like i'm not going to put the whole game on joe last week you had the special
teams but when you have the ball last i thought ryan fitzpatrick had an interesting take
where he did some deep dive on the joe burrow stat about having the ball last do you have that thing
You can play it in a second, but I just finish what I'm saying is like, you know, last week, you got to put that ball away.
Harmon takes it off him.
So, you know, like you want the crown.
Like you got to play better than that.
And then this week, that turnover in the red zone was brutal.
It just was brutal.
So, you know, I don't know what to say about it.
I love them.
I called it in the chat, too, by the way, if you guys want to look back.
Here comes a pick.
Here comes the Jags.
Turnover.
The takeaway.
It's just the flow of the game.
I just feel like the Jags just pick.
the right spot it's either they're gonna make that turnover yeah whatever team they're gonna play
they're gonna switch the momentum of the game it's like either or with them a lot of times but again the
play caller he's just he he looks at the tape and he's like who are we gonna pick on and he picked on the
the guys at the second level and linebackers and and dude if in today's nfl great play callers if you
don't have linebackers that can sort things and have good eyes like hard they were running around like
mad dogs in the meat house like they honestly in the run game were pretty good but like
past game play action you know fast the flat stuff like these guys were like they look like they
hadn't played before and that's what a good coordinator will make you look like so you know a lot of
people thought it take 30 points to win that game it took 20 and just like you said like a running
game wasn't amazing but i just feel like we did enough and chris rodriguez and um basal um tuitin
i think they're going to be i like rodriguez a lot i really like i like rodriguez a lot also but i also
They really do because like it's weird.
It's not like the fast running back.
Then you're putting in like the power back.
They're both kind of like power guys that can still break for some big, big runs or get the tough two, three yards that you're going to need a lot.
And I respect it.
And the way they've been, they've been featured.
I just, I really like it.
And I trust Cohen and what he's doing.
fucking fun football team and well coached you talk about like as far as having two of the best
coordinators in the league at this point like they're in that group where it's like who are the
other teams that have two elite coordinators because honestly with what camp's done since he's been
there i kind of put him in that in that upper echelon of defensive coordinators you got kansas
city's got and they got spags you've got um minnesota minnesota that's got two but somehow they're
still finding ways to win without scoring fucking
touchdowns.
Nuts.
You know, like, you go around the league.
I'm sure I'm forgetting some, but the Rams,
Shula, getting talked about as being a fucking head coach at some point, but they were
able to retain him.
So, you know, and hey, listen, you see things pop up.
Like, maybe the Raiders are last year's Jags.
You know, like, I don't know.
Like, where the Raiders all of a sudden, like, you're like, is this real?
And they've got two really good coordinators.
I'm not saying Trevor and Kirk are the same, but I'm saying, like, it's going to take
people a minute but maybe the Raiders with the scheme and the coaches they have have a chance to
be this kind of team in a year but this is who the jags are right now and uh they're they're not an
easy team to play when you talk about like late in the season you talk about cold weather the flip
side of that is it's fucking it's it's it's it's hot it's uh so warming it's hotter than two mice making
love in a in a sock that's what a two rats fucking in a sock isn't that what the
sock that he said eros said he's
two rats fucking in the sock
um that's how hot it is in jacksonville in december
at least when you get off the plane and you've been in like
sub zero temperatures wherever you're another thing you got to deal with and either
either use that to your advantage or so this we gotta look got to look at her schedule like
what um where they go kind of like in december like if it'll be
advantageous but the only place i get worried about playing obviously is just it's just
Denver. I just think the elevation thing is a real is something that's real versus like being cold.
Like yes it can affect, but I just feel like the elevation is something more to.
I think they're physical enough to be a cold weather team. If you want to circle a game I think's
going to be incredible is going to be Jags Bears December 6th. Yeah. But until that point like,
hey, you're going to play the Eagles this week. If the Eagles don't get back Zach Bond, like,
and they probably will because it's just a concussion. Like it's just I really, I really,
worry about and you talk about some of the zone looks that they're gonna throw at Jalen
Hertz like brother I don't know what you want me to say I hate that the Eagles are doing
bad because I can't even bait you guys into like a friendly bet because you guys know what's up
well we I knew what was up last year too and you know it's just like but you got to kind
of whisper to people and or they get offended about it but like I don't know that it's
just I looked last night the Jags were four and a half point favorites I misread it as like
nine and a half and I was like man that seems like a little much but I didn't think of it was like man
you know like maybe some guys are still hurt you know I think I think Texans jags although the
jaggs are just the lead is insurmountable are going to be tough games Colts
Ravens is going to be a good football game coming up but you get the Titans giants Titans
Steelers are left the commanders are left like you got a chance to be a one or two seed in the
a FC and so it's going to be a long season
in here for us.
Duval!
It's not going to be, it's going to be great, guys.
Just, hey, take a moment with me.
Just close your eyes.
Yeah.
We're walking around Hollywood
with a bunch of Jacksonville fans.
Little Duvall's going to come by,
the house, the sponsored house.
We're going to have some great content.
And we're all going to be chairing for the Jags
in the Super Bowl this year, guys.
Wow.
We're all going to be chair for the Jags.
And Chris might even,
And he might eat it.
Not over the bills.
Say it again?
Not over the bills.
Yeah.
Like if they play the bills in the playoffs, you and I would be right back before we're
about it.
Think about how great this will be.
You're going to have to cheer for Trevor and then we're going to have Josh Allen at the house for an interview.
And you're going to be in the game.
And you're going to enjoy that way more than watching him in a Super Bowl.
The thought of having him at the crib and chopping it up and...
I think Jack's Chiefs would be just such a, like such a matchup.
That's one I really want to see in the playoffs.
in the playoffs. Andy versus
Liam? Yeah, that
be one. I think the Bills game again
would be, I'd still take the Bills in a head
to head, but I understand if Jags fans
think you can beat the bills. Like, I'm not going to
dock you for that. But I think they're one of the best
three teams in the AFC right now.
If Josh decides
he wants to be the subway worker
and throw out meatballs.
Well, to be fair, who was throwing
the meatball subs in the head-to-head last year?
Hey, hey. And I got
Jags fans telling me, he plays
really well.
What kind of old stuff are you bringing up?
We bring it up stuff from yesterday.
Josh threw that meatball yesterday.
No shit, no shit.
But he's also, he's also Josh Allen.
You got to put some respect on his name.
He is.
And you know what's so great about Trevor
and this run?
That's how everyone's going to have to talk about Trevor.
Sooner or later.
Yes, it is.
If Liam and Liam could be there forever, dude,
he might be.
And if he never leaves,
like I have a hard time imagining Trevor
starting to suddenly play bad.
Unless the personnel around him
Just deteriorates.
That's exactly.
Because honestly, I look at the offensive line.
The offensive line's good, but they're not like, it's not like a bunch of world beaters.
You didn't have them.
Most people coming in this year banked on a regression for very sound reasons looking at the roster.
You know, you had a back that was really special for you guys.
Not really special, but he was a game changer for you guys last year.
He left.
Your Mike Linebacker leaves.
You know, there's the.
progression on the turnovers.
They've overcome all that and they look all of it.
And they look just as good.
Can I tell you something crazy about the Jaguar's schedule the rest of the way?
They have four more true home games.
That's kind of wild deal.
Well, I guess London's kind of home for y'all.
Two London games, but then they have Colts, week eight at home,
Titans week 12 at home, Steelers week 14, and then commanders week 17.
Okay.
Commanders week 17.
And for the fans, it's crazy.
They better soak it up because all next year, I think they play in Orlando
because they're about to redo the whole stadium.
Oh, yeah, that's a weird thing.
That might be the only thing that could derail the Jags.
Exactly, for a whole season, just your home games.
And basically every game's going to be in a way game.
Shout out to Pete Priscoe, who's like a Jags guy.
And my brother worked with him for a while.
I just like Pete Priscoe.
He's hilarious.
But like, he's right about the, he's been right about the Jags.
Now, Pete Prisco every year says the Jags guy.
are going to be good. But like he's really right right now.
And some of these, you know, these Jags people, they warned us that they were going to be
just as good this year as they were last year. And it looks that way. We have to get to the
fucking trying. You all get lost. But can we go? Yeah, yeah, go now. Get lost now. Okay.

You guys lost?
They've been muted trying.
Oh, somebody just texted and said,
if we're talking about old shit that you called Trevor a bust last year.
I did.
He probably was playing like you guys.
That is crazy the way you do me sometimes, bro.
It's all good, man.
Trevor knows it's all love.
Oh, look at us.
Look, bro.
You never had a toxic relationship?
Oh, check us out.
Look at that.
We're flying.
We're in the Bermuda Triangle.
We're dealing with some, I mean, there's some storms.
some turbulence.
What's the first two teams we're talking about?
The first two teams are...
Minnesota?
No, no.
The first team, there were two games that I said,
hey, these are yours, Nate.
Jets and Bears and Cards and Giants.
Which one you want to do first?
I want to talk about Jets and Bears first.
First thing I want to say is
Manka Fitzpatrick pulled the sword from the stone,
finally got a pick for the Jets.
Man, what did it look like?
They needed that.
Was it special?
I think my TV,
flickered.
I think my TV flickered when it happened and I was just praying and hoping that there wasn't
some type of penalty on the back end where they weren't going to get that.
They weren't going to get that satisfaction to put that under.
But that has to feel good for a franchise.
Also, that's just a long time not to get an interception.
And it's pretty.
It's pretty remarkable.
You'd have to try not to get an interception.
That is kind of remit.
Sometimes they throw it right to you.
That is like a little bit remarked.
But also too, just like how teams you get lucky.
Like you don't get a tip pass that falls into a lineman's hand.
Like you would think that you would have an interception somewhere.
Now the most amazing thing about this game is the Bears had the ball for 42 minutes.
They ran 89 plays to the Jets.
32 plays.
I've never in my life heard of an offense at almost any level.
They ran 32 plays.
Bears more first downs than Jeff.
Jets plays.
How does that happen?
The Jets and the Eagles going ban for ban.
Jets 0 for seven on third downs this game.
I don't understand how you feel like you can even have a chance to win any type of game
going over in the third down category.
What happened?
They're just not making the plays that they need to.
And it's weird watching the Jets play because if you watch them, they're not terrible.
They're not terrible.
That's the thing about the Jets, bro.
They're not terrible.
But if you're like, everyone, like, you're an idiot.
They are terrible.
But they're terribly coached.
And I don't know.
I guess it's that.
But it's just like Gino.
Gino, dome Gino.
Listen, outdoor Gino, dome, Gino.
Gino isn't terrible.
Gino can get the job done.
And he's playing decent football.
They're not turning the ball over.
They're not doing the things that usually.
They're just not getting first to hell.
Exactly.
You're not, that usually contribute to you losing,
but it's more that in this game,
like they couldn't find a way to stay on the field.
How did Beagent look?
I think he looks good,
but I think it's more that the more impressive thing about the Bears
is three wins, three different quarterbacks.
I think that's a reflection of, yeah.
It's a reflection of your coach and the organization,
what's going on in the building,
because it's hard enough to get a win with one quarterback.
Totally.
But this four games in, you got three wins with three different quarterbacks.
That means you guys know your identity in that building.
Everyone is buying in that building.
And the run game and playing good defense is what is going to help the bears
if they're going to be successful this year.
That's going to be the golden ticket.
That's going to be their golden ticket.
And I feel like Menangai and Swift and that O line, they just kind of, they knew.
Like, hey, we have to be the stars of the show.
We got guys hurt.
We don't know what our quarterback situation is going to be.
if we play well enough up front it shouldn't matter it shouldn't matter and especially when you hold
teams to that few i mean they literally devon bush said he wasn't even sore it's the easiest game
he's ever played in which is hilarious and it's devon bush the only time i've really seen
devon bush this year is in the eagles run tape that wasn't good uh when he came on a blitz in the
panthers game and like got folded like a chair and now i've heard him talk about how
how easy this game wants to play.
That's some embarrassing shit if you're the Jets.
The Jets are losing games in spectacular ways,
I guess is all I'm trying to say.
They're very creative in the ways that they've invented ways to lose.
So anything else in this game before we head to the Cardinals and Giants?
No, the Bears look good.
I mean, three and one.
And you guys are kind of still questionable about your quarterback situation.
I just feel like the Bears, they should be feeling good four games in right now.
They absolutely should.
And with that.
Especially when you look around the division.
I was just about to say.
Minnesota.
They can't score offensive touchdown yet.
Let's get into Minnesota.
But Minnesota.
Because that's what I was about to say about the defense.
Well, before we move on.
I mean, I think the, yeah, the Bears, they've only given up two offensive touchdown.
Shit, we should probably look straight ahead.
Oh, yeah.
They only have given up.
Two offensive touchdowns in the last three games.
Okay.
Last three games.
So, I mean, the Bears.
Yeah.
Did you watch the Eagles offense yesterday?
A little bit.
It's ugly.
So I'm just saying.
But talking about the Vikings, the Vikings fins, this was like free money barely ever
exists in the NFL.
I thought the Rams over the Eagles was free money considering everything.
But that wasn't free money at all.
the the free money on the board was vikings and fins dude vikings and fins i mean the under here
we didn't even flirt with and over it was just like hey we only have rocks that's we it's
it's just a rock fight of all rock fights um i think the vikings are the third team in nfl history
to start uh going four and o despite multiple games without a touchdown crazy uh the other two teams
are the Chicago Cardinals from like the 19th from like the great depression let's just put it that
way um so it is before the great depression actually um but but it was uh it was just exactly what
you expected uh between these two teams and i think if since we're in the triangle and i'm not
going to be held accountable for anything i say yeah i think the viking should fucking trade for
Mac Jones.
Oh, wow.
You're out on Kyler Murray already?
Damn.
You gave you...
I still think the Vikings are awesome.
I'm still hoping my ticket for them to win the North Caches.
I still think, like, the win total is going to hit.
But I think Kyler Murray is, like, at this point, a little bit of a known commodity.
Like, you know, I'll go back and look at that game again.
But, my God, dude, like, we can't live like that.
this all year.
I mean, here's what I'm saying.
Hockinson had a nice little.
Dude, Hawkinson was on life support.
That guy was ready to leave the state.
He was like, and then, and then, I mean,
he fed him.
Look, Kyler, he kept him, kept him happy.
You don't want to see that improve into something more?
Maybe.
Okay, maybe I'm a little early on being out.
But if for some reason,
Kyle Murray in the next three, four games doesn't start,
like if the offense doesn't start producing points,
to me, you might as well.
Because if you don't,
some point you're not going to be the head coach but how can they do that they just got rid of nine
like isn't that like it doesn't matter they have two threes next year okay i think they have two third
round picks next year unless i'm conflating that with some other research i did this weekend um i don't
know what it would take for mac jones some people speculated be like a two uh maybe kail shanan
thinks his quarterback will be the only team on the player on the team not to get hurt and in that event
you don't need mac jones but you i think you get something for mac jones
I think you get something.
Hey, you got to throw the kitchen sink at this thing.
KOC just watched them kill the fucking GM for going on paternity leave or something.
Like, it's hard out here in these streets, man.
You've got to find a way to land a quarterback because this defense is really good.
Yeah, it is.
It's really good.
And as for people, as for people, I'm going to talk about gambling for a second.
So puck her up.
but if you think that T.J. Hawkinson did the wrong thing sliding inside the five yesterday.
Sure, I had the dolphins plus 10, whatever it was.
It's the right move, dude.
Won that game.
And I could not believe some of the responses I was seeing to a video online about it,
where people are saying, this is the wrong call.
This is why the NFL's rigged.
And all they would have to do would be kick it off and keep them from scoring.
two touchdowns inside two minutes. I'm like, let me pitch you on an even easier strategy.
You don't hit the fucking deck and the game ends on a knee right now. And it is not important.
It is not important at all what's on your ticket. The most important thing is that the defense
doesn't have to trot back out there and lose guys defending a two minute drill for fucking nothing.
It's not even on the table. Hawkinson made the right play. That move, Hot. If you're mad at
him for doing that and you think the league is rigged as a result, then you probably lose a lot of
bets because you have like no common sense. Like most people lose when they gamble, but you probably
lose all the time, all the time. Did you see Trevor's last week? That's more, that was more questionable.
That's, that one was more questionable. He might be. He might be fixing games. He might be Pete Rosen,
bro. I can see people being mad at that one, just not understand it. No, I know. Well, yeah, I think
But the Hawkinson one, if you, yeah, if you're mad about that,
then you just don't understand football and or you're just too wrapped up in your prop bets.
And sorry for you.
Listen, that, yeah, just get fucking real, guys.
All right.
So the other one is the cars and giants.
And the Cardinals and Giants, you had some of this in the Vikings Finns game.
Mm-hmm.
But referees have lost their fucking mind, dude.
They're out of their gourd.
Who do you think you guys?
are like honestly the guy that told trade McBride fuck you fuck you I had a referee
tell me shut up bitch one time and I'm like dude if you were anybody else like the rock
shut up I would choke slam you but I can't and so what do we do about these officials that
think they're like gangsters out there dude like this guy's telling uh make them full-time
salary they got suspended bro make them full-time salary workers because hey you ain't
going to talk to me why my part-time job
trying to make a living for my family.
That's right.
You're going to talk crazy to me.
Carrying out the script.
You're going to talk crazy to me.
Doing the league's bidding.
Like, don't be mad at me.
This is what the script said.
The script said that fucking Fed Banks was going to pick off an ink cut and go for six
and kill a bunch of teasers at the end of the game.
Like, don't blame me.
Maybe there's a conspiracy theory here where the league's like, how can we get some more engagement?
Let's have the reps act up.
Well, no, but so.
To me, I do.
It makes sense.
It makes sense.
to me that like bad calls are actually not bad for business because people talk about the bad
calls on a weekly basis like there's way more engagement but something like this is just I know
we're fucking around but like these referees have to like know your place man I hate to say that
because like I got a lot of respect for officials it's a really hard job but I to me that's like
for that to happen on one TV and on the other TV you've got a dude who pushes a player
basically gets up and is like big boy in this player who got pushed into him and
as if like we're adversaries dude just do your fucking job bro they both got suspended i think the guy in
the giants game got suspended for two games i think the dude in the dolphins game got suspended for
one game but like just terrible look for the nflb the nflb what happened in the game bro
oh oh james a turbulence yeah very turbulence james james winston is just
of roller coaster and honestly him and him and jacobi brissette they both these games they were kind of
very similar in the sense that jacobi had you know what he had three passing touchdowns yeah and two
interceptions and then james was going ban for ban with him throwing a couple of interceptions but
found a way to win and then um the giants more importantly i mean you get your your star quarterback
hurt and then burns is you find out burns is out for the season but if you watch this tape your
boy carter dude i was gonna say i've watched his pressures dog hey did i not tell you all about him
dog he like and although they're not sacks the sacks will come if you keep if you keep if you
keep putting pressure and getting pressure like he's doing as quick as he can i mean more power to the
quarterback's playing against the Giants and be able to get the ball off quickly because this
guy is getting to the quarterback under three seconds. This dude is case in point sacks are overrated.
I'm not saying they don't matter. No, yeah. And yeah. For stat wise, individual stat wise, yeah.
As a guy hand up that got a lot of pressures and sometimes you come out of a game and be like, man,
I balled out but didn't get the sack because either I couldn't finish or we didn't have the,
I'm just telling you have a soft spot for motherfuckers like this that just run.
rack up pressures. He is one of the best rushers in the league. As far as a win rate is concerned,
I can guarantee you without looking at win rate, he's one of the, when it comes to winning a rush,
and he wins them up and down the line. I just want y'all to know, he's got one sack this year.
He's one of the best rushers in the league when it comes to winning rushes and winning them
fast. And yesterday's tape, watch it. He's up and down the line, just beating the dog shit
out of people, treating them like Jake's, dude, just dropping people. You want to talk to
Talk about like how to Avril, the kid, Reese.
Arvo Reese.
So I didn't get to watch the Reese tape as closely.
I heard Reese was incredible yesterday.
Bro.
Those two guys are definitely for the sake of being in the Bermuda Triangle.
They are the Giants Compass.
They are the Giants Compass.
They have to build off that.
And it was absolutely amazing seeing Malik neighbors back.
I feel like he's back.
I feel like the Giants need to incorporate him more.
Can they keep winning like this?
It's hard to see, but it's hard to bet against James.
I don't know.
James got God on the side, and maybe that's going to keep helping them pull some of these games out.
But I do like the fact that as up and down James' game is, I mean, they find a way to get this win.
Obviously, I don't know if it's directly on that.
but they got to play they got to play the hand that they're dealt now like you know and they're
three and one you you you don't feel you don't feel confident too much about that three and one record
maybe if you're a giants fan right now are there five more wins on the schedule can somebody pull up the
schedule uh go go in-flight Wi-Fi uh okay so so are there five left on the schedule
Giants go at commanders.
One, yes.
That would be tough, but like that's James, that's James revenge game.
So, you know, could be a little bit.
Oh, and then.
At Houston.
What do you say?
Huh?
I mean, what you're going to say?
Houston will win that game.
Okay.
And then by week, week eight.
What about them?
Eagles?
After a buy?
After a buy?
I mean, it depends on what the Eagles look like.
At Philly.
But I put them in the same category.
Week 10 is home against the commanders.
Week 11's Jacksonville.
That's a win for the judges.
Giants.
So how many?
Week 12 at Colts.
So if we go...
You know, I don't...
I see four.
I'm hoping I see four.
Washington twice.
I got the win total at under seven and a half.
Under.
Yeah.
Ooh.
And I mean, and guys, I don't know.
If my theory wants to play a little game and keep back up...
The Harbaugh's.
Oh, yeah.
The Giants are going to win a lot more games.
Oh, yeah.
Because the Chargers, man.
I don't know.
Isn't that interesting?
It really is interesting, bro.
Because it's going to be hard for the Chargers to win a game, bro.
Anytime soon.
That's crazy.
Anytime soon.
Okay, so I don't think we have Packers and Bucks.
Oh, yeah.
Jordan Love took two hits yesterday.
Do you know how a shame the Bucks should be about that?
Jordan Love behind that offensive line took two hits yesterday, unless I read that wrong
because I certainly didn't watch the game.
and I will watch the game by Wednesday,
but today I can honestly say
fucking shoot me.
I have not watched Packers Bucks.
I will say,
you know,
the Bucks could have,
I heard the Bucks could have kicked a field goal
on 4th and 11 with a minute left,
but it would have been like 64 yards,
and Todd Bowles was like,
nope, not with the wind.
The one thing about Todd Bowles
is he knows whether the game's inside or outside.
You say what you want about Todd Bowles,
but he knows,
knows, you know we play in a dome.
But here's a really damning stat about the bucks, which is just, it's over, dude.
It's over for the bucks.
From 2022 to 2025, 9 and 1 when holding opponents to 15 first downs or less.
Now there's zero of their last four doing that.
No longer rock fight eligible cats.
They just can't do it.
I am interested to see if there were any.
positives with the young quarterback in Tampa.
There were some positives.
I think they can build off of his skills.
And I think his feet, like in his capability,
and just to extend plays, I think can work for them.
But it's going to be hard.
Thrown into fire.
The season's not going well.
You're all in four.
You could just imagine it's about to get,
you've got to get at least one win.
It has to be hard for a rookie quarterback
Or throwing them into something like this
Just because it gets to a point
You lose a couple more games
You might start losing vets in that locker room
Guys just thinking about the next season
Or ways to get up out of there
Yeah, they play in Tampa too
Like you know like it feels like the off season
Every day when you walk outside
And my question is this
Has there ever been a team that paid the quarterback
And then ended up picking in the top three
after the season.
I mean, I don't know of a team like that.
And that's what they're,
that's what they're contending with.
Like, that's pretty crazy.
Like, what do you do?
Like, what do you do?
Luckily, we don't have to make decisions like that.
We just have to land this fucking plane.
Dude, maybe Arizona with Kyler.
Did they pick top three after they paid him?
Or was that, like, a year or two?
I don't know.
I don't think so.
Anyway.
I'm not sure.
We will see this rookie QB on Thursday night in Jerry's world against the Cowboys.
Yeah.
Al Michaels is probably thrilled.
Tough spot.
I wonder what that line is.
I wonder if Wichita would get dealt with all these quarterbacks.
If anyone wants to take on that outside movies.
Baker?
I mean, have at it.
I just wonder.
I wonder too.
But I don't wonder a lot about that.
I do wonder, though.
All right, let's
You think there's
Actually this you think there's any possible
Quarterbacks that are
Currently not in the league
That might get a call back in
No, I think that shit's dead
You think Teddy?
No, I think that's all dead
But I will say this though
I am out on the
Hey listen you want to say
Deshawn Watson's playing well as a quarterback
Go for it
Because actually he is playing better
And I think anybody thought he'd play this year
I thought he was dead physically.
But the image reclamation project that I'm seeing some people,
especially on TV, like it borders on like gaslighting.
It's pretty wild.
And I think it's okay to say that and still give the guy credit
for playing decent football right now, which he's doing.
You brought up the Browns and Shador made me think about it.
I cannot believe some of the takes I'm seeing of like,
no one, no one wants to give him.
his moment.
I'm like, no, that's their prerogative.
The guy had 35 civil cases.
Like, have we ever
with any other player ignored
35 civil cases, dude?
Like, what are we doing, bro?
Like, I'm sorry.
But
we'll acknowledge
the guy's playing well and that Todd Monkin
is a fucking gangster dude. That's what I'll
acknowledge that. Todd Monkin is a fucking
G, dude. The Browns are going to brown.
Fuck that. But you know what else?
I said before the season they're a quarterback away.
They're half a quarterback away now because he's like kind of a, he's an answer, but he's not the long-term answer.
Like, whenever they find the answer, holy shit, there's a lot of young talent on that team.
I could not believe the way Patrick Graham called that game the other night.
We're just up here talking about whatever game.
But Patrick Graham called that game.
I was like, man, what are we doing?
You know, just leaving guys on the islands.
It was like a mutiny on the thigh.
Yeah.
T.J. Watt, I've never seen anybody look like more of a fucking, like an alpha male than when he grabbed that headset.
That needs to be a meme.
Like, you know, like, I can't think of the meme right now.
But that's a pretty memeable image, dude.
And by the way, the guy that handed him the headset is my old teammate, CJ IU from St. Louis.
So I didn't ask him, but I was like, man, that must have been an ugly deal.
when he was like, T.J. wants the headset.
It's not good when T.J. wants the headset, dude.
Definitely. As far as the signing a quarterback and then picking top three,
it looks like the only one I can find when Google was the Texans with Deshawn Watson,
and then he didn't play.
That's incredible.
And then it would have been the same when the Browns signed it to Sean Watson,
but they traded away their pick that next year.
So interesting, dude. We, hey, we've covered it all.
Let's go to the mentions and let's get out of here, shall we?
Let's land this plane.
Isn't it hot in that?
It's hot in that.
You would think it'd be cold because all the rain and everything,
but it's actually pretty toasty in there.
Jet.
And before we jump to mentions,
we've got a little hello to create.
Yeah, hello to create.
One thing I've learned since retiring is recovery used to be
the thing that got me to Sunday,
but now it's every day.
I'm just trying to recover every day.
I'm just hanging on.
you know 41 year old man i woke up this morning i can't turn my head uh you know my back hurts
all the time you got to watch how much you work out overtraining is a thing people are like oh
you're overtraining well with create i can kind of get the job done and i can you know i i
create can't fix a slip disc in my back or my neck being all jacked up but boy do i feel a lot
younger when i take my creatine in the morning um and sometimes it take it in the
afternoon too a couple of those gummies like just you know like one or two in the afternoon like
make you feel more alert um honestly a lot of why i take it is is the cognitive benefits i mean like
dude i know i'm pretty self-deprecating and joke around a lot but like as somebody who was a
c student not a great student um not a rocket scientist we have to we have to we have to we're
responsible for a lot of games and a lot of tape and a lot of analysis and um we do it to to
to be able to deliver a good product to y'all and like honestly i don't think i'd have been able to
i don't think i'd be able to stay on top mentally or physically without the creatine i'm not saying
like i'm duct taped together or something but like holy shit does it help so uh you know like
nobody's giving me nobody's paying me to be sore anymore i'm not getting hit on sundays but like
being a middle-aged man some of you guys in here know what i'm talking about i don't think we have a
young demo uh listenership i think y'all know what i'm talking about i take the creatine so i can get up
off the floor and play with my kids and run around in the backyard and, you know, still get my workouts in and, you know, feel mentally there when it's time to break down like eight games in a four hour period or whatever it is.
Like today is a sprint if I didn't have my creatine.
I don't know if I'd be here talking to y'all.
So it not only helps me physically, but it also helps me mentally, helps me stay sharp.
You know, it's the first thing I take in the morning.
And the creatine plus the electrolytes and a little bit of that torrine in there.
honestly I told you my wife like can't function without coffee but one day she
skipped the coffee and took one of those packages she was like holy shit so it's
creatine is one of the most studied supplements of all time and I'm I'm not
somebody I barely ever take Advil dude like so I'm very careful about what I put
in my body it's NSS certified for sport third-party tested every batch made with Crea Pure
I train hard I get dehydrated I get depleted and I want to recover faster so
that's where the creating comes in uh all right what the dang greziano sack award the dan
graziano sack award uh dan graziano cursed the texans i'm convinced it was him bringing those
sacks in the nrg stadium he brought eight sacks like look at all these sacks and they
paned to the sacks um dude this was a weird week for this i'll
give you to i you know calil mac i'm just giving it to calil mac because we got a couple players in
our game right now who are over a hundred sacks and are creeping up and calil max 35 years old
when i watch him play i know it's in a losing effort and i know nobody's paying attention to the kind of
year he's having um but he's he looks good he looks young he looks like calil mac and uh he won
yesterday for his 116th sack in his career just an incredible player man hall of
famer for sure and uh you know when you get up there in the 120s and the 130s then you're
starting to be in the top 20 of all time uh so i love calil mac i also want to shout out prince
prince lee umami ellen who i talked about earlier in the show that was a big sack of jared
golf late in that game so we'll give dual award winners to in inside of a sack sometimes there's
two items.
And so...
There you go.
There it is. Ideally.
Ideally.
Ideally.
Unless you got a pendulum situation.
Or are you like my guy...
Hasn't slowed down.
Or you like my guy, Grayworm from Game of Thrones.
That's a whole different situation.
They got nothing in the set.
That's a whole different situation.
That is.
My Dan Graziano Saccharacteriore this week is going to
Nick Yume and Yori
Sack out of a four-point position
Pulled down from safety
That has to feel bad in the offensive line room
What a rush
That has to feel like
What do you say to your old lineman? Like you let this fucking safety
Come get in a four-point stand
And rush you? I'm pretty sure
They're all in that old line room
Like fooled the hell to me
Look like an outside backer
Because honestly there's about 15 pounds separation
him from some of the best outside backers in the game like i what do you think he walks around at man
230 220 6 3 220 i think he's more like 225 you can tell me he could talk shit to all the
de linemen be like yeah i got a sack out of the three tech guys like off a four out of a four point
stand dude i saw him getting a four point stance go inside out and spin yeah like bro that play is
big for uh mon rae's theory that pass rushing's the easiest position i know i know i know i'm in rha i
know i know fuck i almost reached out to him recently about that but uh it certainly wasn't with that
clip you know it's just uh this dude looks like he could play almost any position on the field
good good pull there Nate good pull on the sack um
Pause,
Should we do
This motherfucker,
Pause
Best flight
You already know what that is
What is it?
Tariko out of Miami
Heading to Kansas City
I just feel like that's happening
At some point
Right now,
whether it's commercial,
whether it's private,
I just feel like
Tariq probably is hitting up
the
wherever he was raised
or if he still has property out in KC, making sure the lights work,
Dustin getting the cobwebs and the spiders out,
if it was just sitting property for these last couple of years.
But we back.
Yeah.
We back with the way those things are shaping up.
We hate injuries in the NFL, of course, but we love a good story
and we love a good happy ending if, in a sense, if they can do well.
The second is over.
Not that type of happy ending, guys.
Okay, so the Thornton injury, can we talk about that?
Bro, I said in the chat, the first thing I said in the chat,
adrenaline is fucking nuts because the way he hopped up.
He hopped up and was like, yeah, bro, did all that.
He was like, whew.
And then it was like.
Oh, fuck.
My ankle's sideways, dude.
Then do you see the video after the old lineman who's coming to talk to him?
He was like, are you okay?
And he's like, and then the old lineman's like, fuck.
The old lineman looked and just like turned his head.
But yeah, I was just like, yeah, the first thing that I, like,
I thought I was seeing things on the TV, like when I saw it happen in real time,
because I was like, he just jumped up and celebrated.
And I was like, then did he realize his ankle was like that way?
Why are you showing me, Reed, pulling it up to show me as if I needed to see that again?
And I'm not.
And I couldn't believe it because I was just like, yo, how did you jump up?
And that's what I said in the group chat.
I was like, is that just a.
adrenaline, like adrenaline is running through your veins, a big catch in the game, like,
overrides the fact that your ankle is like...
Ultimately, we're all just action figures, bro.
I guess so.
A little action figure foot got turned sideways.
Like, it's just, it's just disgusting to see it when it happens.
But it happens, like, I've seen that happen, like, more than a few times.
Like, when I played, like, I've seen guys, like, up close.
And, you know, like, we're going to first on the scene.
And God willing, and God willing, it's one of those things where,
hopefully, but like, odds are, like, he'll play football again.
Oh, yeah.
It's an ankle dislocation.
And that's the craziest thing about it.
Like, if you see that type of injury, you're like, holy smokes.
Like, it's over.
Like, cut the foot off.
Like, what's about to happen?
Put the foot off.
I just feel like if you don't know, like, if you don't, like, that just looks crazy.
Like, you don't, I don't think the average person, if you don't watch football or, yeah,
Like you would ever even have a chance to like really see something like that happen like where
No, no, no, no.
Like, you know someone's body part is that way.
And it's like, oh, what happens next?
And in my head, I'm like, he's going to go to the hospital and they're going to pop that
shit right back in place.
And he's going to go to surgery tonight.
And he's going to start rehab in two days.
I think sometimes like football players like get a lot of credit for being really tough.
But like also sometimes like, and this is as a former player, we don't get enough credit sometimes
for like how ridiculously tough.
No, yeah.
are and in that situation a lot of his adrenaline yeah but it's just that that's that type of thing
happens in our game like a lot a lot and you know like yesterday was a huge injury day if you watch
other sports and like guys don't leave games like that there's just not anything going on like that
you know as physical as like even a hockey game is like it's just fucking people's legs turn in sideways
and it's just crazy too we talk about it like it doesn't seem like it's a big deal but just to see
one of your teammates, whether you're close with them or not,
whether you talk to them or not,
whatever,
it's just like,
if fucking Nolan turned his ankle terribly,
like, in here right now,
like, it's going to affect the rest of the show.
We're going to be thinking about...
We would move the drill.
Like, you would move the drill.
Shut up.
That's, like, that's what essentially is, right?
Move it up 10 yards.
Like, that's essentially what it is,
but mentally you're still like, fog.
Like, dang, that's our guy.
Did you see his ankle?
Like, you're just thinking about that shit.
tensions now.
That was a compound fracture.
No, but Tyquan Thornton's going to be out, I guess, 12 to 16 weeks.
He's having surgery within the week, and this per Ian Rappaport,
a real chance to, at a late season playoff return.
So to your point, like, yeah, three months from now, he's going to be running a 4-4.
Anyways, Best Flight, I'll give you the ball that straddled the upright in Blacksburg.
that was awesome
I mean like that ball got launched in the air
and when I say that ball had ratings
it had ratings man we saw that ball
about 2,000 times this weekend
you know there's always one kick every week
that you see the most
that was the kick pro or otherwise
that everybody was fixated on
and you know like let me take a closer look
from where I sit
yeah it's no good
perfectly fine with that call
and honestly somebody told me they saw an angle where it was like clearly i think this is the one look
you can tell it's wide by yeah it's wide by a couple inches yeah for sure uh but i'll tell you what
it does make me a little bit happy when something doesn't go text way um all due respect that's my
best flight for the week now we got our asses kicked in tallahassee i mean i'm not you know
like not gloating but best flight worst flight
Dan Quinn flying back international and just same old story
my QB1 is hurt what's next and I just feel like that's probably just not a good flight
just yeah basically almost every game this year after a game for Dan Quinn he's worrying about
his starting quarterback starting quarterback and eventually probably his job
No, yeah.
And yeah, it's a long flight back.
And it's like, yeah, the kid who stepped up did right,
but it's just like Marriota did right.
So you're just like, you're dodging all this stuff
and all these things happening.
And then you're probably thinking about,
hey, shouldn't have went for it on the fourth down
and just all this, whatever.
Couldn't have been a good, it's a bad flight.
It has to be a bad flight.
I'm going to say Detroit's secondary.
Anytime you got to like, like usually a secondary sits
in one area of the plane, like you got your buddies
and everything it's it's certainly like uh socially you mix it up on the plane but they definitely if i were
like a corner in Detroit i would be like let's get in the back and uh let's get in the corner and uh let's
be to ourselves and be you know put the headphones in and hoodies on and let's watch some film
because after a game like that man it's just it's so awkward when you have a position room
position group like that that's just not holding up there end of the bargain
like on the socially, on the bus ride home,
like, you know, on the plane ride.
Like, everybody knows it.
And it's just awkward.
This is a real deal, worse flight.
Not to mention, they probably got in at like four in the morning.
Bebel Conway.
Bevel, I'm giving it to Sunday night football.
Panthers versus Detroit, all black versus all white.
I fucking loved it.
Yeah.
The Panthers, all black with a little bit of,
I don't know, the correct blue, what to call it,
Carolina blue.
I'm maybe that's not yeah I think UNC is Carolina blue whatever the blue is I think that looks
amazing and I'm a huge fan of tops and bottoms being the same color or pattern and just to see both
teams doing it I think that I think that look good I got you know Raiders and Chiefs I just
anytime these two teams play awesome and I think that's the best looking indoor stadium in the
NFL I just have been there the Raiders yeah all
I love that stadium.
We've been there, we've seen a game there.
I think they should do Super Bowl there every year.
I would not like that, just because it's Las Vegas.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
Anti-Bevil Conway, ugliest scene in sports.
People are not going to like this, I guess, but I do not like the vintage giant's uniforms.
What?
I do not like the Navy blue.
Do we drug test here?
Bro.
I do not like that Navy blue and then the other color blue as the jersey.
Like I don't like that. I don't know why people like that doesn't look off to you guys
You guys think it like it's all right? I think the Giants throwbacks are incredible
Incredible
I just wish that the jersey and the helmet are the same color like that's all I ask
Like whether they want the jersey to be navy blue or you want the helmet to be that blue
I don't understand why they're just not why it makes sense that they're not the same blue
That's just my thing I agree with you like that's that's only my thing and that's only my thing and that's
I do like it, but it's just I don't, I don't get the, why.
It's too Buffalo Billsish.
That too a little bit, but it's more, I don't know when they were making these.
It was just like, oh, how much you're going to wear with this jersey?
It's like, oh, take this Navy Blue one.
I'll go anti-Bavitokaneway.
I'll go Liberty versus Dream game one.
I really don't like the number font on the New York Liberty's jerseys.
And you guys didn't watch that?
Of course we did.
Okay, just making sure.
look like you didn't know what I was talking about but I just don't I just don't think the number
font works on the on the Liberty's jerseys and the dream honestly like I get it like less is
more in the whole thing but but I'm not digging their their threads either um okay best
is it and best seat best seat best seat my best seat let me start with best seat Tony Romo making
18 million dollars a year to watch games it sounds like he's going to keep his money dude
it sounds like he's going to keep his money.
Is that what I read this morning?
Mm-hmm.
That Tony Romo's, I mean, like, I thought CBS was going to come after the money.
It sounds like Tony Romo's getting paid to sit there and watch games.
Games that he's probably like, I would have saw that.
You know what I'm saying?
Like, he'd sit there and tell his buddies, like, I definitely would have saw that.
After his CBS buyout, Tony Romo will make $1.5.1.59 seconds per second.
$95 per minute, $5,000 per hour, $136K per day, a million a week, $4 million a month.
How much is that going back to the, how much of that is going back to the book and the casino, dude?
I'm just wondering.
That's my fly on the wall.
Like how much of that is he just being like, man, I can't keep it all?
I saw him one time in a casino playing like what, like a blackjack or something.
It was very early in the morning.
Looks like he has a good time.
Blackjack.
Did you play some?
No, I don't play Blackjack.
21.
He's safe.
Yeah, I remember?
I like to be safe.
Blackjack table.
I hate to see Chris Long coming, boy.
Okay.
Nate, best seat.
Best seat.
I am giving it to NFL fans for the 1 p.m. slate yesterday.
We have four games within a touchdown with under two minutes to go.
I was just over-stimulated, trying to follow, and look up at all these games and see what's going on.
And you look to your left and you're like, oh, they have a chance to win.
Oh, look, this game is still going on.
That was pretty crazy.
It definitely came in like waves yesterday.
You know, it was like one of those Sundays where everything happened at the same time.
Yep.
And that's the wildest deal.
Like you had the end of the Texans game.
you had the end of the Rams game
the Bengals were still in it
the Giants picking the fucking last
playoffs
I hate the 910 games
in the 1 p.m. window
but sometimes when it all hits
at the same time you're like
no other sport could do this
at all
worst seat
I'm giving it to Lagerius need
having to single up Bowers
for at least part of the day yesterday
like that's a tough assignment
what you got
I got Mike McDaniels
yeah for sure
I just feel like, man.
That could be a hollow man for sure.
Yeah, after the year he had and the way he had to leave Miami and everyone, you're with,
everyone's kind of like darling.
Everyone loves Herbert and now it's going to be up in the air.
Is it, is it Herbert's decline?
Is it you?
Is it your plays?
But I just feel like not a good situation.
It's fucking hot over here.
Yeah, it's about to get hot for his seat, too.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
I think so.
Well, I'll give you a hollow man, hollow man, hollow man Dion Sanders.
Mm-hmm.
Just because, and I bought in on the whole prime thing,
and that's great and everything.
And I don't watch a ton of college football.
But when you leave your play,
and I'm not saying it was Dion,
but he's got a lot of shit to clean up this week.
Because his staff, somebody on the staff was at the hotel bar,
and they left their script at the hotel bar.
You got people on the internet being like,
hey, I found Colorado script.
How do I get this to the opposing team?
And it matches.
It's a wild deal, dude.
Like how does that happen?
That to me is just, and they're throwing picks on trick plays.
I think they had like four picks.
There was too many men on the field penalty.
It was, you know, just a bad deal in Colorado right now.
Bad.
I mean, that's a bad deal when you leave your playbook.
So Hollow Man, whoever left their playbook, I shouldn't say Dion,
whoever on the staff left that playbook,
because they probably have a way to find that out.
Yeah.
Besides, everything is on an iPad now.
Well, and maybe, but I think, I don't think it was a full play.
I think it's what you call.
No, I think it was a player.
And I think it's like, you know, a packet for that weekend, that week.
You know how you get packets for the specific week?
I think a player or somebody, I don't know if it's necessarily a coach,
but I think it was that week packet.
It's the same packet that the coaches and the players got it.
I think they said at the bar.
It could be a restaurant.
It could be.
Well, either so, a hotel bar, like, man, like, just be more care.
Like, you don't hear about this ever happening.
This is, like, a bad deal.
Absolutely.
Because anybody that finds a playbook is going to post it, you'd hear about it.
Unless you're a fan of the team.
Or the team, you gave it back.
Yeah, you're just like, hey, guys, like, you probably don't want to lose this.
But that's, that's kind of unheard of.
It just feels like things are a little bit hectic there in Boulder.
Did you do your Halloman yet?
We're almost home.
Hello, man.
I'm giving it to CJ Gardner.
calling Chisholm, a practice squad player, and just kind of...
Did you hear what Brable said?
Yeah, being a sore loser.
And then just the funny thing about it, just like Rable and how everyone online is saying,
bro, like, you were a practice squad player and you've been on eight different teams.
And no shade to practice squad player guys, like, honestly, like, if you're a practice squad
player and you work your way onto the field to make a big play,
even if that was Chisholm's route, which it wasn't,
it's like more power to you.
And the fact that you're salty after a loss,
getting torched, like, I get it,
but it's more, it's more you gotta feel like a little,
like, yeah, like, dang, like, I'm being a sore loser
and yeah, I'm embarrassed or whatever it is,
but just to be wrong and to kind of like,
like throw it out there, like, yeah, like that's the last time
we're gonna hear from that guy.
It's kinda like that.
My computer died, but here's,
the quote. This is from Vrabel. And honestly, it wasn't, he goes, C.J. Gardner Johnson basically said,
a practice squad guy got one. You know, like, oh, well. Vrable said, for a guy that's been on eight
teams in four years, I mean, I guess he knows the drill, which is not calling him a practice squad
player, but it's almost worse. Because, like, honestly, like, and I think C.J. Gardner
Johnson has been a good player in this league. But what is kind of baked into that assessment is, like,
you can't stick. Like, you're a good player and nobody wants you on one team.
And I, bro, I've always liked CJ.
And, like, even when he was in New Orleans and he used to, like, bait people and they're, like, you know, getting ejected and shit.
I always, I always like having a disruptor in your, in your secondary.
But Brable got the last laugh in that one, dude.
And, you know, that's why you just, you can't disrespect your opponents like that, man.
Like, because eventually, you know, you're going to get.
Not after a loss.
And the kid made an incredible catch.
And that's.
Like, he probably made the catch.
And the worst thing, and the crazier thing about it is, I feel like CJ was.
He was embarrassed in the moment talking about it.
But he's basically saying that, like what you just said.
Like, hey, that was an incredible catch.
Like, if you guys did that 10 times, I'm betting on myself that that's not going to happen
or he's not going to make that catch.
But he didn't say that.
He decided to say what he said.
And I just feel like you probably feeling like a little bit of a hollow man today.
I'm giving SCL Memorial to Abdul-Carter because I'm convinced people just don't see it.
I mean, obviously, most people didn't watch that game, but, you know, and the sack numbers are going to hang some people up, but he is a dog.
So I'm going to give my STL Memorial to Abdul Carter.
I'm going to give it to C. Tate, young wide receiver, finally making a name for himself.
I mean, he's over there in Tennessee, so a lot of people are going to probably get to see him play or really know what's going on with him.
And kind of had his breakout game, nine catches for 145.
TDs, but still the production-wise for a guy that they're expecting a lot from in Tennessee,
it was good to see those type of numbers from him.
Game ball.
Game ball.
Another wide receiver giving it to Tet McMillan 14 for 192 and two touchdowns from your short
king.
They went off last night on Sunday night football.
So Ted McMillan, you can have the game.
this week. So I'm going to give it to his quarterback. The Prince, man. I just, man, he is,
he's easily one of the most likable players in the league and it's just a guy you root for. I think
even the people that probably counted him out as a franchise quarterback can admit that like,
you're happy for him if you take the take anchoring out of it because he's just a guy that
that, I mean, in a sport where like, hey, and I love,
some players that are really arrogant and fucking in your face and you know like have that like bravado
about him but he is a he's a different kind of guy and like he lets his play do the talking and um
and you can tell guys rally around him and gravitate to him there's a lot of tough toughness in that guy man
like don't don't be fooled by the presentation he's a tough motherfucker and he delivers the football
i mean some of these throws this year are just the drops in the bucket outside the numbers i mean it's
It's beautiful.
He's everything you thought he was going to be.
Game ball.
Price ball.

And before we hit Monday night, we've got the zone locals question of the week.
This is from Joshua B. Powers.
Quarterback plays a big theme in the league right now.
Do you feel like the biggest challenge with evaluating QBs is separate?
the player from the situation they're playing in.
Oh, absolutely.
I mean, thank you for the layup.
I think we see this with all types of players.
Like honestly, the group of players
that are immune to scheme change are almost none.
Like, really, almost none.
Like, we've never seen Patrick Mahomes without Andy Reid.
But when we saw Patrick Mahomes without an offensive line
or weapons outside, he didn't look like Patrick Mahomes.
We've seen Josh as a young player look hapless and honestly like people try to use him as, you know, an example of how things might turn around for their favorite young quarterback and I might do that with Cam Ward, but like he's an anomaly in that right.
You saw him in two different Joe Brady offenses now basically, like the Joe Brady under Sean McDermott, the Joe Brady of this young season.
Like those players look different. You saw him in the Ken Dorsey offense and you thought the sky was fond.
Like, what the fuck is this guy doing?
Lamar Jackson.
I mean, like, it depends on the offense that he's in.
I mean, like, you know, he's always going to look excellent.
He's always going to make those MVP-level plays.
But the aggregate of how the offense performs, drive-in and drive-out,
the output is dependent upon, like, calling a game that is, that is, you know, complete,
you know, in the run in the pass and in phase.
Fuck, go down the list, man.
like even the great ones are dependent on who their coordinators are who the people outside are
now as you go down the tiers it's less forgiving and i think that's where most quarterbacks live
where it's like you know they they have to have good situation around them to elevate them and if
the situation isn't great uh you don't know where the floor is until you see it and uh and that's why
I'm always just, I try to be careful about the quarterback thing is, you know, like,
and I'll be wrong about these guys from year to year.
And shoot, it's, one of the hardest things about doing this job is when a guy goes on a good run,
you think it's fake, not being a hater, like coming across as a hater,
or saying, like, you know, like, so professionally you have to agree with the wave of people
that are just reacting to what's going on this month or this eight weeks or this year even.
For some quarterbacks, you can hide deficiencies for a year and a half, two years.
and all the while you've got to sit on your hands as an analyst,
but that's the tightrope you've got to walk,
and it's one of the hardest positions you have to evaluate as a play.
And I would imagine as a pro scout, like your college scout,
in the pros, like evaluating quarterbacks is becoming even harder,
like, you know, because of the different systems that they're playing in year to year
and the transfer portal or, you know, God forbid you want a small school guy.
you know it's really hard to tell what you're looking at so i don't envy people that have to make
these decisions um year and a year out to make their money you can walk across the screen
Nate everybody knows you're in here we all get pee breaks uh but but yeah so long story i think is one of
the most difficult things in sports to evaluate quarterback play and you know like what and it calls
in a question what's the point of ranking quarterbacks you know we do it but like honestly like what's
the point because sometimes it's a pretty thin veneer between being like average and really good
for some of these guys so uh as always hard-hitting stuff on the zone uh what is the landline
zone question of the week question of the week locals question of week appreciate you guys
branding is very good okay so tonight let's just talk this through uh falcons and saints
you don't have to bet this minus one and a half total 47 and a half
But I, you know, and I know it's, you know, like I said this, Nolan on the way over, I said, I kind of like the Falcons.
He's like, you sure it's not a sucker bet? And I said, well, you know, that's fine. But, but I don't think it's one of these things where 90% of the tickets are on the Falcons. I think, oh.
What is that?
Match up. Match up.
Can you look up and see where the tickets and the, and listen, I really like the Saints. They got a couple of injuries that I think matter in this game.
if somebody wants to read him out
but I think Christian Ellis
is down or Caden Ellis is down
and I think
who else you say? Carl Granderson
Granderson and obviously
A Chan
so there's some key pieces
I think the Falcons are going to be able to run the ball
like it's a big adjustment
like Ellis is a very unique guy
in the way that he fits up runs on first and second down
like I like all their linebackers and they
come downhill but like
it's going to
to be tough to play that way the other thing is like they've been really good stuffing out inside run
inside run i think the falcons can get on their edges and you know like i'm not saying i'm falling for
the pennix thing yet like here's another example like pennix early on in his career i said i don't really
see it but maybe with a really good play caller who knows and with a really good run game and and drake
london like i don't know so the the bet percentage falcons are 50% of the bets but 70% of the bets but 70
of the money. That's a signal right there.
If you're making a case for the Falcons getting beat in this game, by the way, Falcons
fans, I just want to say I spent some of my Saturday watching some of the game.
I love Dorilus, dude. He's one of the most underrated, he's easily one of the most underrated
rushes in the league. Like, he just does so many cool things that you don't see a lot of guys doing.
He stays square and he wins rushes. He attacks both edges. I really do think,
the Falcons are, you know, one of the more underrated defenses in the league, like, and they've
lost guys, and they're still playing pretty well, and they're getting pressure with four.
So, yeah, as much I love the Saints, and it wouldn't surprise me at all, like maybe the over,
it feels like points, and maybe the Falcons. So if you're into doing the Cardinal Sin thing
where you tease a total, you might get the Falcons at, like, catching a touchdown, and the number
might be like 40, but those always lose.
So pick aside, what are you guys thinking?
You getting shook tonight?
You like the Saints.
You like Saints.
It's hard to love anything tonight, but...
It really is, and I just, like Nolan said,
like I don't know if we're just like,
we're getting baited into the fact that everyone wants the Falcons
to kind of be good and build off of, you know,
know Michael Pennick's coming back and they don't have a quarterback, that whole narrative,
and now they have a quarterback, and it's just going to fix everything really quickly.
I just feel like the Saints ain't going.
Like, Saints ain't that type of team.
No, they're a physical football team and they're good defense.
But there's also a rest advantage.
There's a rest advantage.
You know, the Falcons have had a lot of time.
They had a mini-buye, new quarterback mini-buye, not a lot of tape on him.
It's the fancy you throw some curve balls.
I don't know, man.
I think most people should sit on their hands tonight.
Keep the main thing, the main thing, the main thing.
Put in some Bijan props.
Dude, you got to be careful because I put in some Gibbs props last night.
And I was like, oh, well, that's fucking, you know.
What's your final verdict manager?
You're going to keep Bejan on the bench?
No, I think for the sake of it, I'm going to keep Bijan in.
And I'm going to go for that weak totals point.
Nate, that's the right call.
You know, I'll try to get the top point total of the joke.
Did you say Diablo's down?
He was questionable.
Well, we'll see about the Diablo thing.
Diablo could play into maybe a Joanne Johnson.
Rob.
Hmm.
I had a bet last night that was like, you know,
both teams score X amount of points.
Man, it was, they almost got there.
It was 30 plus each team.
But yeah, some of these long shot bets are the only way to do these primetime games.
Just put on, like put a teeny bit, a couple long shot bets and just sit on your hands.
But tonight, I'm telling you, for the day I had yesterday, I'll probably be chasing.
And it'd probably be a dirty bird's for me.
We'll see.
Dirty bird.
All right.
And it is going to be loud.
Somebody just pointed out it's going to be loud.
And it is hate week.
I think one of the coolest things about this rivalry is how much they truly hate each
I think people outside of this rivalry don't realize the hatred that goes into this rivalry.
When's the Steve Gleason anniversary of the block punt? Was that last week or this week?
There's a feature about it on the broadcast.
Steve Gleason, by the way, one of the best all-time human beings of all-time.
Is this the anniversary?
I think so.
Tonight? Are they doing, are they honoring like Steve Gleason blocking that?
punt tonight oh money on the new
Orleans yeah I don't know if I can get in shock
tonight
that emotion shit that'd be real
I don't know if I can do the Falcons
it might be real
it might just being over
pinnicks how about pennies
anytime rushing touchdown there you go
he's got like bionic legs
that's why
that's why
um well hey just check
before you bet it if it's the anniversary
of Steve Gleason blocking that punt
and just forget
everything I just said.
Oh, wow.
Joe Mixon.
Whoa.
Seahawks are signing
former Pro Bowl
running back Joe Mixon?
Mm-hmm.
From the street.
From Houston?
No.
Not mixing.
Yeah, Joe Mixon.
But he's not on a team right now
until he was on Houston last year.
No squad this year until it's not.
He's befuddled.
What the?
Yeah, indeed.
I got it.
I need some thing.
I thought, I thought Houston was, oh, he probably said, oh, and four.
I'm not going back there.
Fuck y'all.
Jeez, Louise.
Because I thought they were holding it down for him, like, keeping things under wrap while he
wasn't playing, and he's okay?
You mean to tell me he's okay?
He's okay?
All right, guys, we got to go at 6 o'clock.
Hey, thanks for hanging in, and we will be back midweek.
I'm looking for a guest.
So drop it in the comments.
If anybody in particular you want to see on this show,
Bo's in London,
running around dressed like Miss Rachel,
fucking doing Instagram pictures and shit.
You know he dresses like Miss Rachel.
Yo, easy on Miss Rachel, yo.
I like Miss Rachel, but so do my kids.
But, you know, Bo kind of sometimes some of his fits.
Like a little Miss Rachel.
You know, with the big baggy jeans and like the overalls and yeah, I don't know, maybe not.
Hey.
That's our, that's our fashion correspondent, man.
You just got to let him do his thing.
No, he's the man.
I couldn't pull off those fits.
Y'all take care.
