No, it's pretty cool.
I mean, I got a fantastic view.
You've been in the New England building.
Yes.
One window.
That window is bigger than the window in the New England building.
That right there, you get more vitamin D at Udub than you do in Foxborough.
Yeah, so I'll give it to you real quick here.
Yeah, let me see.
Wow.
Oh, my God, dude.
That's beautiful.
Yeah, football.
I'm committing.
Yeah.
So I verbal.
Yeah, you don't even need to give a recruiting pitch here, Coach.
because you show that view out your window
and dudes are just signing up.
They're going to get in the line
to come play football for you.
Yeah, so, I mean, the first time I got here,
like, Chris, you know, in the New England building,
I'm trying to interview and talk to people,
and I'm just got a little ADD.
We all do.
Yeah.
I'm just staring out of the window like, oh, shit.
What was your question?
Welcome to the Green Light podcast.
A great episode for you today.
We've got a full studio, Jay.
it's Chris, Macon, Kyle, and Dr. Fax.
And we welcome on a brand new Husky.
Steve Belichick joins us from his new digs out in Seattle.
He talks about why he took this job.
What about college football excites him?
He even shows us the view from his office in Washington Stadium.
If you want to check it out, make sure to pop over to YouTube to watch the full video there as well.
But we have a great time bringing Steve back on.
And then we end with a little bit of fun.
Ask a few questions.
a few jokes. And then in honor of one of the greatest pictures of all time, the planning of the
flag on Iwo Jima, we bring up our favorite sports photos of all time. We each submit a few
and we describe them to you. Hopefully we do a good job. But enjoy that. Enjoy the whole show.
We hope you have a good time. We sure did. And we will catch you next week on Tuesday.
Kirkland, Washington. Hello.
Why? Now there's Husky Stadium at the University of Washington. And if you're some kind of
Idiot, you think you might be looking out onto the Pacific Ocean.
No, you're looking out onto Union Bay.
It's a sound or something like that.
It's a bay.
And if you had some binoculars, you'd be looking over to Kirkland, Washington,
which for any Costco fans...
That's the home of the Kirkland brand.
I love Kirkland.
The original location of Costco's corporate headquarters, Kirkland, Washington.
So Kirkland and Costco are like GM and Chevy, or is it like...
Uh, no.
Well...
They offer different things, but they're the same?
No, Kirkland, okay, Kirkland and Costco.
Help me out here.
Okay, Costco is kind of like...
Oh, I got it, I got it.
Whole Foods in 365.
Okay.
Nice.
God, it's an internal brand.
It's their, like, house brand.
A little cheaper.
I love Kirkland.
Kirkland has low-key, like, they have really good sweatsuits, really good t-shirts.
They have a high population.
You have to catch them at the right-based.
time but if they're there and you can find a matching there is good quality make it
making they have a really high population of people named kirk yeah that's funny
i got a hello oh uh redding west redding pennsylvania hello why chris that's where taylor
swifts from oh and i went on new heights last week and what i realized in going on new heights
and seeing it come out yesterday is it's basically a lot of Swifties listening to that show.
Me and Bo went on New Heights and it was awesome.
We went on with just Jason because Travis was busy doing something.
And it was cool as hell.
And then I got like 300 follows from like middle aged and high school women on Instagram.
I think like the Swifty Army is now aware of us and are maybe going to be listening to Greenlight.
So welcome.
That's good.
Welcome.
We're not.
We're not.
this is this is a
West Redding
This is a safe harbor for you
Like we don't care that much
Like we're not going to make it a big deal
But we're also not going to like
boo you off the stage
It's good to have you
Okay layup line
Today we're doing
We're going to talk about grunge in the C block
We're going to talk about
Our favorite grunge songs
And once I
Once I realized that
This is Lithium by Nirvana
Live at Redding
Which is a great album
Do you like Nirvana Nate?
Do you like grunge?
Um, I maybe know a couple of grunge songs.
Okay.
I think there are grunge.
I'm still trying to figure out what grunge.
Because I put a playlist out this week for everybody to add to it.
It's the grunge playlist.
And I scrolled down and I noticed some rap songs.
But I switched it up.
Okay.
I switched it up.
We did some clarifying this morning.
I got some, um, I used to, I can't talk over this.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Dr. Fax can't talk over music.
But this is, this is grunge.
This is grunge.
It's loud.
Talking over music.
You mean singing?
It's like teenage angst.
Mm-hmm.
You know?
That's what grunges.
This is incels.
Okay.
So like,
Pacific Northwest.
All the.
No, this isn't incels.
Those guys,
those grunge guys got a lot of ass.
Okay.
Is it like all the small things.
Truth care.
Uh,
Blake 182.
It's like a post grunge,
sort of more in the pop.
She left me roses by the,
I got a question.
Stone Temple Pilots.
Oh, yeah.
Do they make grunge?
Yes.
Interstate love song?
That's one that I know.
Yep, that's grunge.
It shows up on my YouTube.
We're going to talk about grunge later in the show.
Alien farm.
Oh, so, okay.
I don't know.
Now you're going to ask me about Papa Roach.
Like, are those grunge or no?
You know, I think that's what we're going to figure out today amongst each other is what is grun.
Short answer to know.
Okay.
And in the open, we're going to talk about a little bit of football.
But first, housekeeping?
housekeeping.
Hey, South by Southwest.
Yes.
On March the 10th of this year, in Austin, Texas, at South by Southwest, the Greenlight
Pot will be appearing on the Sportico stage, 6 p.m. Central Time.
South by South whites.
South by South whites.
You guys are going to set this invite out company-wide?
Is it going to be in the group text?
Is it like...
All right.
So, Kyle, I kind of want to alert you of something.
There are like two classifications of employees at Greenlight.
there are those that participate in things that are optional and those that don't.
And you and Macon are in...
Hold on. No, no.
You're pooling me with him for a second.
Finish.
Finish.
There are people that we just don't invite because we assume they're busy.
You have two small kids.
You have a burgeoning career in TV and you twit.
It's the off season.
Twitching all the time.
The off season.
Yeah.
I did one live stream last night with you.
That was great.
In Vegas, I didn't come to the stuff.
I'll do some housekeeping.
Call back to last week's housekeeping letting it to cover.
I had two schedules that didn't overlap very well in Vegas.
I didn't even see you guys.
I know.
And the point is I didn't see anybody.
I felt bad because like really we didn't call.
I was on stage.
I was on stage the whole time waiting.
So, but one thing I can do is probably do a March.
You want to go to Austin?
In March.
Yeah.
It would be a, what's the T-shirt?
I told you about the Kate's getting?
For me?
Let me ask my wife.
Yeah.
I don't know.
March seems good.
Can we ask your wife?
Yeah.
Can we call Kate?
March seems good.
Can we call Kate?
Yeah, we'll call her right now.
Where's my phone?
I'll call Kate.
You call Kate.
We have a really good rapport.
She's actually Kyle's GM and Madden.
Every time Kyle and I play a game for money, which has been happening lately, if I lose, I get an immediate Venmo from his general manager.
I love that.
He doesn't even collect.
So great.
She collects for him.
Hold on a second.
Let's call Kate.
South by Southwest sounds fun.
I've never been.
So it's like music, art, comedy.
I would imagine.
We can go to, we can be on Joe Rogan, dude.
Yeah, well, he's, he's calling.
South by South whites was my joke.
No, no answer there.
So she's not answering, but if you get permission, yeah, obviously come to South by Southwest.
That'll be fun.
Medellian.
You too?
You want to call, Mike?
No, I want to get on with the open.
Okay.
You got to try to.
Sorry.
No, you guys are good.
That was a good.
South by Southwest sounds awesome.
It does sound awesome.
Yeah, we got to try to get casted in like a Medellian, like a small, like a
Medellín.
You think we could get cast in any of them?
I feel like that's where like those people are going to be at, right?
Ah, yeah, yeah.
You know what else might be there?
I looked at all the celebrities that live in Austin.
America's sweetheart?
Sandra Bullock lives there.
Oh.
So if you know the history with me and Sandra Bullock, buckle up.
Who doesn't?
Who doesn't?
Childhood crush.
The movie Speed made me feel uncomfortable.
You know, like I didn't know what that.
feeling was you know the the movie um uh uh with samuel jackson and matthew mccane
had time to kill made me really uncomfortable and then i at that point i knew what the feeling was
um it was it was the feeling of attraction to sandra bullock and then when i met her at um the
espies um in 2000 and probably like 16 b nelly 19 up uh bnalli faked it up
brian basically my agent i was like he was like hey sandra bullock's here and
I was like, don't act like Sandra Bullock's not here.
Okay?
Like, whatever idea you have introducing me to Sandra Bullock, like, let's not do that.
She was in the back room at the Espies and that sort of thing, and I just wanted to be invisible.
I didn't want to fuck it up.
And he called her over, and I was terrified.
And she was, like, going from one thing to the next.
And I took a picture, and the lighting was bad.
And I looked awful.
And I looked like totally out of sorts to be in a picture with Sandra Bullock.
Not excited, nothing.
And I looked back at that picture.
It's the picture that's on Reed's Ringer, I guess.
It used to be.
And then your text from you came up and then it had that like update profile and you
update your profile picture to like you in a mustache.
So I accidentally hit that and now that picture is going.
Well, thank God that picture is gone.
This is one of my least favorite pictures ever.
It's like akin to ruining the the opportunity of a lifetime.
Just take a nice picture with Sandra Bullock.
And I would like to find Sandra Bullock and get a second crack at taking a picture.
I think I'm ready now.
I've had Invisaline.
I can smile big.
The lighting will be better.
I'm a lot smoother now in 2024 than I was in 2000.
You still have to deal with Nelson.
Has to still deal with Brian and him not fucking it up.
But I really would like to get another opportunity to picture with Sandra Bullock.
You know, the more I learn about this world,
the more I find that there's pockets of the globe that are just exceptional at some things.
And I think it's the Philippine Islands, the Philippines, they're really good at karaoke.
As a matter of fact, they're extraordinary.
at this thing we call karaoke.
They can sing any genre.
I watched a guy on YouTube last night sing, you know,
he's singing opera, and then he goes to Bruno Mars,
and then he can go Johnny Cash.
You said there's a bunch of Johnny Cash,
Johnny Pacquiao's down there.
Yeah, there are some folks in the Philippines.
I think, you know, they could be investment opportunities.
If you're an agent, like if you're a talent agent,
I really go to the Philippines and hang out at a karaoke.
Why don't we go to the Philippines and find the next country star?
Yes.
And start a record label.
Put that on the list for things we're going to do this off season.
Passport, shots.
Hey, things y'all have already started doing this off season.
The John Madden football video game.
Yeah.
PS5.
All right.
So what's the record?
I think we're hovering around 500 about.
Probably.
Yeah, we play a lot of 20 and 17 ball games.
A lot of last minute plays.
So the game we talked about that one night when I tried to put the sidebed
Yeah, it's good that you didn't.
I know.
Because I didn't cover the spread in the first game, but then I kept covering the spread.
I lost my first.
Wait, wait, wait.
What is covering the spread in the video of game?
So we play for money and we play straight up.
Chris and I played money line, but the sidebetters have to.
And you at home can side bet these games.
We're going to start streaming them on YouTube.
Last night I hopped over to Kyle's Twitch channel.
Twitch dot TV slash Kyle Wong.
Yep.
A really nice community.
Kyle had to go somewhere for like three minutes and did not mute me.
And I'm sitting there talking to his Twitch audience.
through my PlayStation controller.
I can't see anything.
I can't get any feedback.
I don't know if I'm muted,
but I spent like five minutes with his Twitch family.
And they're really cool as far as I can tell.
They're chill.
But what's great about the game is Kyle and I
have a lot of fun doing it.
It seems to be the thing we have the most fun doing together
at this point.
And I'm always fighting him to stay online
and play me again after I think.
One more, one more.
One more.
Another game, another role of the dice.
Kyle always wants to play this game,
Hell Drivers.
But let me tell you something, Kyle.
We did something that had it been captured would have gone absolutely viral.
The other night and I have been smoking your tits largely with the eagle.
Smoking your tits largely.
There was one game though.
You got me, Kyle.
You played with the Cowboys.
I blew a lead.
At the end of the game, Kyle's lined up.
Jack Prescott.
C.D. Lamb.
He's so good.
He's got the chops.
At the end of the fucking, uh, the game.
Kyle's lining up for like a 54-yard field goal for the win and he's single doy-sitting
I hit a dead square yeah in redemption wow redemption redemption now there's some gameplay issues
that I get frustrated with like the fact that every corner is Dion Sanders you know you get a guy
in fucking trail technique on a corner route you ID man you under throw it guys guys a back hip on
AJ Brown it's on film and you know he's running he's in trailing he's in training he's in
technique and he's staring at AJ Brown's numbers.
That's why we have to stream with shit.
He just,
he just turns around and he's Dion Sanders.
Kirk banker.
There are some issues with the gameplay,
but I've had a lot of fun, Kyle.
It's a blast.
And I mean, like you said,
we get to go and talk some shit.
People get to see us in a relaxed setting.
It's like 11 p.m.
So you see us dressed down in that regard,
like conversationalally.
But the football is great.
It's not quite a rock fight,
but I don't think there's like...
The fireworks have started, dude.
There's no guns involved.
to score a little bit more and I'm having a lot of fun but just be a lot of very short
passes at the line of scrimmage behind the line of scrimmage he forces your guys to tackle it's
frustrating at times yeah I like you know like my offense is I'm a big read option guy I'm a big
RPO guy and I like to attack the middle of the field with crossers and mesh you know
there's nothing wrong with that it's like an east bay catalog he a deep over who are you
going to be you're going to pick up a PS5 soon I'm hoping you know what I've
learned over the last five years or so is that we don't share many things in common.
No.
But where our friendship began was on the sticks.
Video game.
And I think it's high time to get back to it.
Let's get that thing going again, big boy.
All right.
So just be on the lookout because Kyle and I will be, and everybody on great, like, we're
talking about doing tournaments and all types of shit.
I'd really like to reboot that tournament we did in high school.
We did a tournament in high school, which I think we're going to do again.
Like back in the day, we'd get like eight guys to come over.
and we'd play NCAA football and NCAA basketball.
But the catch was, it was like a round-robin tournament
where you had to be the same school in both sports.
Yep.
So I was Kansas State.
We had a couple different years.
I was Notre Dame one year, I was Alabama one year.
Florida.
And now with the video game coming out, we can do it again.
So hopefully we're going to have a robust YouTube video game, I don't know,
presence.
And if we need to fill out the league, maybe we invite some current local teens
to come over.
and just kick their asses.
You're just going to invite Uncle Teens over?
Yeah.
I got a buddy at the SWAT team and wants to meet you.
Hey, one more item of housekeeping.
And I know you're going to say, hey, you did a poop in the potty.
Congratulations.
But while y'all were in Vegas, I made an objectively very dumb tweet,
but it went viral on the internet.
And nobody acknowledged it.
What was it?
I was busy.
Andy Reid said to the New York Post or somebody.
I love that tweet that you said.
Thank you.
It was really funny.
About retirement, today is not the day.
It was the Tuesday before the Super Bowl.
And I said today would have been a super weird day.
It would have been a hell of a day to retire.
Yeah, I did see that tweet.
It was a good tweet.
Now, but it just floated around the internet for a couple of days.
I gained no followers.
Oh, 1.1 million views.
Look at those.
21,000?
Yes, dude.
Yes.
Damn, bro.
But nobody saw it.
Nobody sees my tweets either.
Elon's repressing.
Maybe your shadow band.
Like I thought, oh.
You might be shadow ban.
Because I don't, I don't see y'all's tweets with the new.
Yeah, no, it's weird.
It's a weird deal.
You know what else is a weird deal?
Probably got to toggle those settings a little bit.
Yeah, toggle.
I'll toggle.
So I just want to talk a little NFL before we get to Steve Belichick, who I just a little
background of him.
I do feel some sort of, not a kinship, but like, you know, like I empathize with his
situation. Being a coach's son is a little bit different than being a player's son because,
and I talked to him about this when he came on two years ago, you know, like there's always that
your dad did it for you. You're only there because of your dad, the whole thing, which is, of course,
way easier to combat when you're a football player because you actually have to go out and make
the plays and do the thing. And, you know, Kyle and I did the thing for a long time. And,
you know, like, it was hard shaking the shadow off at times. And still, I think we're probably
in dad's shadow. But that's okay because, like, we do our own thing and we had our own careers.
But for somebody like Steve, who's coached with his dad, and of course, like, with the conversations
about nepotism, the NFL and the whole thing, and, like, certain guys get jobs because their dad's
coach and so on and so forth.
I think that sometimes that's absolutely true, and sometimes the wrong guys are coaching as a result.
But I think Steve's the right guy, dude.
And I also know his dad's a hard ass.
Everybody knows his dad's a hard ass.
I think his dad brought him up through the ranks the right way.
And, you know, after a while, you look at his resume, and he's been.
doing it a very long time.
And I think the key to his viability is the kind of person he is.
Like with a lot of coaches.
And I think you'll see that when we interview him today.
He's totally authentic.
He is respected by these guys.
The guys that you Pat's fans know and love,
that you NFL fans know in love,
Dante High Tower,
Devin McCordy, Rob Nankovic, you know,
like all those guys on defense when I got New England,
if I were to ask him, you know,
what's up with Steve, Belichick,
Is he trying to be his dad?
Is he, you know, is he like a nepo baby?
Is he, you know, all this shit?
Nah, dude, he is legitimately his own man.
He sounds just like his dad.
I mean, he could imitate the fuck out of him.
But he's his own guy.
He wants to go on his own path.
And he's really emotionally intelligent
and a great communicator.
And I think that that is a doorway into leadership.
And I think that like watching him get this job at Udub,
in the wake of everything that happened this year in New England.
It's fun for me because I know him well enough where I could text him after I heard Bill was on the outs and say,
hey, do your own fucking thing, man.
Like, you know, like, it's time for you to make a name for yourself.
And I know he wants to do that.
And to see him get the Udub job, this is the perfect way to do it.
You know, maybe he's back in the league at some point.
But I think college football is going to be better for having a Steve Belichick as a part of it.
And U.S.
is going to be better for having him as a decorinator
because he really does have a lot of knowledge
and he's a guy I really respect.
So I think you'll find out
if you haven't heard him talk before in this interview
that he is his own man
and that you'll realize why guys like him.
Guys really liked him that played for him.
He's coached a lot of positions
with a lot of great coaches.
And we joke about it on the pod.
You know, Kyle, myself,
and we've always tried to be our own guys.
You know, like I think you don't try to do everything differently in your dad, but you don't want to be your dad.
Even though being our dad would be the best thing in the world, you want to do it your own way.
And I think that's what makes him, and we joked with him about this, like the perfect branch of the Belichick tree is he's the one guy who's trying not to be Bill.
He's trying to be the opposite in a lot of ways.
And so enjoy talking to him.
You guys are going to enjoy the interview.
And on the topic of the Pats, this week, Matthew Slater retired.
He is one of my favorite people legitimately.
If I had to, and I've said this before, leave my kids with a teammate.
I had to leave for like a year.
Leave him with my teammate, my family, my wife, live in my house,
you know, stay out of my cold tub.
Don't play my madden.
Like, this is how I want you to parent my kids.
I wouldn't even have to give him any of those talks.
He just, he's a person you trust implicitly.
Stay out of your hot tub.
Yeah, he would stay out of my cold tub and my hot tub.
And he's legitimately a guy that you could, at the drop of a hat, trust with your family, is what I'm trying to say.
And forget football players.
He's one of the best people, period, I've ever met.
And to play as long as he did as a special teams guy, a lot of guys, and talk about him maybe going to the Hall of Fame, a lot of programs do not keep a roster spot for one special teams guy, a guy who just played special teams.
they kept the roster spot for him for years and for a good reason.
I mean, not only was he a great special teams player, but he also was a great leader.
And he is second generation NFL.
You know, I got a chance to meet Jackie Slater, Rams Legend, built totally different than Matt.
I didn't be crossover with Jackie early in my career.
When you were at Saddleback, right?
At Saddleback College, I was an offensive lineman and I don't know if Jackie knew that I was playing there, who my dad was at the time.
but he came, spoke to the offensive line.
The two things of advice he gave to the offensive line was,
move your feet, move laterally with great efficiency,
and give ground grudgingly.
There were two really good.
I never missed the game.
He was like 20 years and he was a very physical guy.
Second all time games played in Pat's history.
It's great.
Slater.
Slater.
Yeah, young Slater.
And old Slater was a damn beacon of,
of availability as well.
You know, like he just was, you could set your watch to it.
He was going to be, and to play offensive tackle that long,
it's insane in the NFL, especially the old NFL,
and to stay as healthy as he did.
So we are going to talk about Slate a little bit.
The one thing I want to mention going into Steve is,
and I guess this would qualify as the first 15,
I think the Cowboys are up, Sheds Creek.
Now, all that stuff kind of came out this week
with the aggregators reminding us of how much,
is going to cost to, I think part of his
Dak Prescott's agent
saying he's going to command 60 million a year. He's going to
command a lot of money every year if you
do extend him. And the situation
that they're in right now is
he has a no trade clause.
He can't be franchise tagged.
This is the last year of his deal
and the Cowboys owe him a lot of money.
Like it is,
they're in a situation right now
where there's no right answer.
I don't know what the right answer is. As I see it, there's like
four options. Even if you let
him walk after this year?
2025, 36 million dead cap.
So, like, this is a unique situation.
And we're here because I think they expected that they just do the thing again this year
with better results.
And they'd say, hey, well, we know we're in cap hell, but we're going to extend you
and spread the money out.
Well, now you're like, I've seen this movie for about a decade, man.
And like, this feels like a tipping point.
I don't know.
If you think about quarterbacks, like think of all the, the Eagles in the time that
has been a damn quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys.
They've been to two Super Bowls
with two different quarterbacks.
You know, the Giants have won Super Bowl
is with Eli Manning.
You know, I know this may be just before DAC,
but no offense to Eli, what I'm saying?
Like, there are teams in your division
that are doing it in different ways,
you know, rather than put all the eggs
in the basket of a quarterback.
And over time, culminating in that Green Bay game,
and I know a lot of it was the defense,
but he did not play well,
you look up and you say,
hey, we got four options here.
And the options are go trade for, you know, a replacement this year.
And in that case, hope that Dak Prescott actually waves and no trade clause and doesn't
want to be there.
But you can't carry, you can't carry two franchise quarterback.
So you can't say a Matthew Stafford.
That's somebody that somebody in-house threw around.
And last year I was on the train of, hey, L.A. should get something for Matt
Stafford because I don't know how long his arm's going to hold on in that whole thing.
I think if LA didn't trade him last year,
it's hard to imagine them trading him this year.
But there's stuff that I don't know.
Obviously, I didn't know where their heads were at last year.
I was wrong about that.
They could want to move him.
That would be the one quarterback that if you were like,
all, let's go trade for a guy that would be an upgrade.
To me, it would be Matthew Stafford.
But they're not going to say yes to that.
And even if they did, is that going to say yes to being traded
to wherever you decide is the right fit?
So I don't think that option is really viable.
The second option is extend DAC.
If you extend DAC, you're married to DAC.
Okay, like Jerry Jones is 81, 82 years old.
If you extend DAC, this could be the last quarterback that you extend.
Married to DAC at the expense of the rest of the roster, too.
Exactly.
And then the third option to me is you keep DAC Steel in place and you move up for a quarterback.
The problem with that is this.
Everybody knows your situation.
and you have no leverage, people will bend you over to get up into that top five.
Like it's going to be.
Figuratively.
Yeah, figuratively.
So that's going to be really tough.
Like, say you want to move up for Jaden Daniels or something or you want to slide like way
up in the draft.
Like you're going to have to give up, not as much as you have to give up for like a Matt
Stafford.
I bet less need would be like, yeah, give me three ones and some other stuff.
I don't think it'd be like that to get up in the top five.
But that option just, it doesn't really make a lot of sense.
And then, you know, from that point, you'd have to actually nail the quarterback, too.
And then you'd have to offload down.
Figuratively.
Yeah, exactly.
Michael Pennix might be there at 24.
You think?
Yeah.
And if he is, maybe that's your answer.
And then there's another guy on the roster.
Trey Lance.
Well, that's the whole thing.
How did he react to the Trey Lance thing?
And if he reacted that way to the Trey Lance thing,
how would he react to drafting a quarterback in the first round?
Yeah.
And then the last option to me, and this is my favorite one, is keep
DAC and masterfully tanked this team into the ground this year, knowing that in 25, you can draft
the quarterback relatively high, whether you have to move up or you're that good at tank.
I know they're not going to do this, guys.
I know Jerry Jones on his 82nd birthday in October is not going to be like mid-tank.
I know he doesn't want to do this.
But this option is kind of interested in me.
How do you tank the Cowboys?
Well, it's Dak's contract year.
He's going to want to ball out.
Don't throw the ball.
start Cooper Rush.
Don't draft a replacement for Tyron Smith.
Give the ball to Pollard 40 times a game.
Fire Mike Zimmer,
who you just hired,
and hire like a disgrace D-Corinator.
You know, there's ways to tank.
You just have to be very overt about it.
That's probably the one that makes the most sense
if I were an owner and I was 58 years old.
That's what I would do.
But if I'm 82,
I don't know if I'm going to,
I don't know if I'm tanking.
I don't know if I'm, I'm, I'm,
You don't know if you're going to wake up tomorrow.
Yeah, exactly.
I don't know if I'm going to...
Listen, there's only one way to talk about a guy being super old
and the fact that nothing's guaranteed.
And that's acknowledging the reality of it.
And Jerry Jones is 81, 82 years old.
I'm pretty sure, like, with his amount of wealth
and access to the pharmaceuticals, he could be around until 100.
But, you know, if I'm Jerry Jones,
I probably burn the ships and extend that.
knowing kind of like the way he thinks he's come this far with Dak I bet you they
they they go with that option if I were really trying to fix the Cowboys right now
and I said you know like if I were the GM and Jerry was like we got to keep
Dak and we just got to extend him and move this money around I would say all right
we're gonna turn into a running football team again that be it you know it'd be
draft a big tackle to replace Tyron Smith you've got Zach Martin you have Tyler
Smith you have Terrence Steele who all
he's not a great pass blocker. He's a run blocker. You have a defense with really strong pieces.
Mike Simmer's your D coordinator. Just morph into more of find another running back, whether it's
in the draft or free agency or trade. Find a guy who can be a one-two punch with Bernard Pollard.
Not Bernard Pollard, Tony Pollard. Find a, fuck, get Bernard Pollard off the street.
But, you know, find a second running back, you know. And, you know, find a second running back, you know.
turn into this team. Bernard Pollard got Tom Brady, right?
Bernard Pollard did get Tom Brady, I think. But here's the thing. When they were really good,
and when DAC's deficiencies were hidden the most, they were a running football team.
And so, like, I know that the quarterback is the big topic, but maybe the big topic should be
the direction of this team over the next two, three seasons, or however long that Jerry Jones
wants to continue to own the team, however long he's in good health. Huh?
And he'd change their MO. Yeah, change their MO.
So alternate universe, what if he pulled an Andrew Lowe?
Does that help the franchise if someone decides to retire?
It would help.
I mean, like, if you could get it, if you get the mentalist,
Oz the mentalist or some sort of hypnotist to be like, hey, Dak, retire,
then I think that's probably the Cowboys.
All right.
Counterpoint.
Second week of December, they're 10 and 3.
They just beat Philly by 20.
Dak was like MVP front front.
That's why I'm saying.
You just have to probably extend them.
And you can also,
So Dack was a fourth rounder in 2016.
They've only taken one quarterback since then.
Cowboys guy, Ben Danucci in the seventh round, 2020.
You can take a court, Tom Brady.
Yeah.
I've heard of them, six-rounder.
You can take guys, you can take Jordan Travis,
FSU coming off an injury.
You can take guys who are Michael Pennix
would probably cost your first rounder.
You can take middle round guy.
He can cost your first rounder.
Early second.
He might be there, but to your point,
he might be there at the end of the other.
I think they know stuff that we don't know.
But just take a flyer on a guy.
fourth round, fifth round, sixth round,
that they haven't been doing.
Take multiple flyers.
Sure.
You know like, hey, if you have a chance right now
to build through the draft and try to make the offense
a little bit like of a higher floor kind of,
I know their ceiling was really high,
but like without the run game firing the way it was,
I just think like, I think maybe it's time to steer the ship
more into like a powerful football.
Do you know who's gonna be there in round seven?
Who?
Your guy, Sam Hartman.
Sam Hartman, who we saw in Vegas,
who making things is hot.
By the way, Sam Hartman, shout out to Sam Hartman's mom.
I don't know if you're listening right now, but your son is just a great guy.
We met him in Vegas.
She's a big fan of the pod, evidently, and Macon's a big fan of Sam.
So a nice moment.
Literally.
For the pod.
He looks like the Chad meme.
He does.
He does.
When he came to Radio Row that day, and they were like, hey, Sam Hartman's here.
He wants to, like, meet y'all.
I was like, is my wife here yet?
Maybe, like, hold her up outside.
I do TV with Brady Quinn every week.
Like, maybe the dogs.
That's the Zoom call, my face next to Brady Quinn's face.
It's like something about this Notre Dame pipeline of handsome men that just comes out.
But Sam Hartman's got that, that olive skin, the dark eyes.
Oh, he doesn't have Brady Quinn's biceps.
Sam Hartman looks like a Cologne commercial guy.
You know?
Brady Quinn looks like a P90X commercial.
Oh, man.
What are you into?
I worry more about.
Which scent are you into?
I'm threatened by the Aqua dejo guy.
Okay.
All right.
So, anyways.
I just wanted to say that.
Like, that was, that was a big topic this weekend.
This week, it's a very slow week in the NFL,
so sometimes we just remind ourselves with things we already knew.
But the Cowboys are fucked, like, unless Dak Prescott gets extended,
and they're really good this year, and he's a lot better.
I also want to point this out, like, a month or two ago,
I said, hey, Dak's not the answer.
But when you don't fire Mike McCarthy, you've said that, you know,
Mike's not the problem.
I'm kind of looking at DAC now and being like well Jerry do you think
Dax the problem because I don't know that you have a lot of flexibility there
and that has all the leverage it feels like that has all the leverage which is why
way it's going to be a low number which is why I'm sitting here and it's easy for me
after the season to say hey like Dack in the playoffs we've seen this movie before it's not
the answer but like I don't have to do the books for the Cowboys you know we're
playing fantasy land football a lot of times just talking about whether their guys
the answer this that and third like they have to make real decisions here and they
might have to like eat a shit sandwich so to speak.
If I'm Jerry, I deserve one last raging party, so to speak.
And I think this would be just to burn the ships for whoever's going to take over when he's gone
and say, hey, it's not my fucking problem.
We're going to go all in to try to win.
This is the last window.
If they extend Dak, throw everything at it.
I see Jerry walking through the lobby at the wind.
Did you?
Blackjack, yeah.
How was he moving?
He looked great.
He looked like Jerry Jones.
but football fans are funny because once people started realizing it was him,
you hear, what's up, Jerry?
Then you hear, fuck the cowboy.
Oh, yeah.
It's one thing or the other.
That's crazy that in life, he probably has to deal with that every single day.
If I was in a Philadelphia Eagle, I would have grown empathetic towards the Cowboys' Plight
because they are now full circle.
It feels like just as bad as it felt before they were good in the 90s, probably.
All right, well, here's Steve Belichick, and then stick around for a little fun.

joining me now joining us now because we've got a big group in here
is Steve Belichick one of
one of the dudes that kept me sane for a year in New England when I'm trying to find my way as a vet,
a new guy, the whole thing, whether it was Ninko, whether it was Steve, Slate, all these guys,
man, just so important to me when I was in New England.
And now Steve has a new gig up in the Pacific Northwest.
He is the defensive coordinator of the Washington Huskies.
Give it up for Steve, folks.
It's good to have you on the show.
How you doing, ma'am?
I'm doing great.
I'm happy to be on here.
What has it been a couple years since my last podcast?
I haven't gotten haven't got any requests since here we go if anybody wants me I'm got time well
Steve I didn't want to hit you up last year like with the way things are going to be like yeah you want to come on
the podcast like nobody wants to come on the podcast or a year like yeah now uh yeah we lost a tough one
and moving on yeah but yeah it was a tough year yeah well no but this I mean like listen it was a really
tough year. Obviously, we can talk a lot about New England and everything, but I think the coolest thing is you going out and doing something that's like totally off the bingo card for me. Like when we talked, when your pops left, you know, we were kind of texting and I was like, man, I hope you do something that's just like different, man, you know, like, and I did not have college football on my bingo card. I thought you might coach in a league for some other team. Like what went into that process for you? What was the,
thought process and were you close to doing other stuff?
There was a couple things going on whether it was staying in New England or, you know,
bounce around a little bit, but I work with Jed, Jed Fish, the head coach here.
He was there in 2020 coaching the quarterbacks and we kind of got to know each other.
And then he left and went to Arizona.
So he kept in touch and he gave him the opportunity and he was running with.
that's awesome your first impressions of Seattle and UW well I've been here for maybe a week so
I'm going from the hotel and back to the facility and then back to the hotel probably to get a house
or about to rent a house so that was about the extent of my travels outside of that commute but
now it's pretty cool I mean I got a fantastic view you've been in the New England building
yes one window that window is bigger than the window in the new
England building. That right there, you get more vitamin D at U-dub than you do in Fox Pro.
Yeah. So I'll give it to you real quick here. Yeah, let me see. Wow. Oh my God, dude,
that's beautiful. Yeah. Football. I'm committing. Yeah. So I verbal. Yeah, you don't even need to give a
recruiting pitch here, Coach, because you show that view out your window and dudes are just signing up.
They're going to get in a line to come play football for you. Yeah, so, I mean, the first time I got here,
like prosino in the new england building i'm trying to interview and talk to people and i'm just
got a little ADD we all do yeah i'm just staring out the window like oh oh shit what was your
question yeah it's changed a little bit yeah for sure i mean i love looking at toby keiths and
patriot place but like that backdrops pretty amazing with the pats man you know people always
assume that you know people from the patriot's tree they all act the same they all
coach saying but I found that to be a little bit different. I think there's some guys that have gone
off on their own and tried to do a little bit, tried to be Bill or tried to be some other coach that
was there and tried to emulate somebody a little too much. But I feel like there's been a lot of guys
who have done their own thing, you know, dables a little bit different, Brable's different,
had success. I think you're going to put your twist on whatever the Patriot way was to you.
What do you keep from New England and what do you leave behind as you embark on this journey,
like culturally. Yeah, I would say I'm different than those guys I grew up, you know, with my dad.
And I've always kind of, we talked about this last time, you know, being that, being the son,
you're always kind of in the shadow. And probably when he left Cleveland, I was like eight.
And so ever since then, I've tried to not be him. Yeah, exactly. I want to just be, I want to be Steve.
I don't want to be built. People say that we sound the same. So, you know, that's one thing that can't really change.
But other than that, I don't, I want to do, especially with success, is that I want to do that, but I don't want to, I'll take a couple things, but I want to be myself.
I want to be real with the guys and the relationships I build and not, you know, try and be somebody I'm not.
And that was my mom's advice, is, you know, especially with the social media, people try and be someone they're not and have a tough time being themselves.
I just try and be myself and love it or hate it with who I am.
I think that's going to be plenty, man.
I think it's funny to talk about not wanting to be your dad.
Like me and Kyle both want to be our dad, like in that we want to be successful.
Obviously, you want to be your dad and that you want to be.
But we don't want to be dad, you know what I mean?
Kyle a little bit more, he was 75.
I sprinted from it as a kid, Steve.
I mean, I went and played baseball for Christ's sake because I wanted to run from it so bad.
And I got burned.
But here we are.
back in football. You can only run from your bloodline for so long.
But look at us, not being like dad. We have a podcast. He does a little TV show.
But the question is, man, like, um, has that made it, are you maybe the perfect patriotry
guy because you're actually not trying to be your dad? Everybody else was trying to be your dad.
And you're like the perfect patriotry guy. Yeah, I mean, I try and build my own tree, but I would say,
you know, you joke, you joke Kyle, but at least he went to all the time. So you're,
you're going to be a little closer to dad than he does.
At least the, you know, both sides of the ball.
We're defensive guys, but you may be different than them.
But, you know, the tree and stuff like that, I mean, those are always big topics outside.
But for me, it's like, I'm just deep.
And so.
How about the big difference in, like, I think what was so strong about New England was the culture and, like, the continuity.
Because of things, you know, that you guys did as a coaching staff and all that stuff.
Like, now, you weren't the same every year.
I admired about you guys is you always change to meet the demands of the day or the season
or the game. So that's a bit of a misnomer that the Patriot way is like it's one thing all the time.
But I guess for me, you know, the culture is harder to install in college because of the
fluidity of where players are going because of the NIL age, the whole thing. You're not going to
have some of the mechanisms that y'all had to build or any NFL coach have to build a program over
time like how do you approach team building roster building i know it's early for you but what are the
biggest differences and impediments um so you know like you know this better than pretty much anybody
like unless you're a rookie or a free agent like you know the system or you know the you know the
you know the you kind of know what the what the grind is like but then when those you guys come in
you fall in when i came out here uh i knew two people i knew jedfish when i knew bennie sincerity
who came from
Vinnie with me.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Vinny Bombats.
Yeah, tell him I said what's up.
Tell him I said what's up.
Pais on?
So when I came out here,
like none of my first message was like,
yeah,
other than maybe a gift that's happened before,
you guys don't know me,
I don't know you.
So like, let's get to know each other.
And I don't judge people
until I get to know him,
treat you like a man until you proved me wrong.
So that was kind of my message
initially was,
you know, starting to build a foundation
which was, it's been difficult in terms of all,
I got to refute this.
I got to start back from ground zero rather than,
like, when you came in, it was like you start halfway through the process
and it's like catch up fast.
So trying to build, build what we want to do out here.
And seeing with Jed being a new headcoat that you do,
it's kind of been a transition,
but, you know, reverse the challenge and let's go win some games.
I'm not going to ask you specifically what your scheme is because I know there's probably some gamesmanship with that where you're like, we're not going to say anything for a little bit.
But I'm sure there are some complexities.
I can remember in New England, like that is a complex scheme.
And, you know, like I was getting calls and checks like with my hand not in the dirt, like leaving the dirt.
Like high would be, you know, there'd be a third layer to every call.
Do you feel like it's going to be easier or harder to install a complex scheme for young kids as opposed to professionals who spend all day doing it?
their job. I guess now it's more like a business, but what do you think of the differences
and like, you know, expectations? I would say, you know, we like to teach the big picture.
Sometimes guys look through the straw and, you know, they don't see everything that's going on.
So I'm trying to teach the big concepts and then the tools and the stuff that you can use
with those balls, which we'll see it how far like those. At the end of the day, it starts with
fundamentals. So, you know, we got to come out here, teach it fundamentals.
but the scheme will go as we take it.
I'm not going to, I'm not bad type of coach
just going to, you know, do stuff that's not fundamentally sound
or what the players can't handle.
I'll do what we can handle.
And, you know, I'm a little bit different
than some of the other guys there before.
Like if we need to run four calls to win a game,
that's faint of effort.
Yeah.
If we need to run 20 calls to win a game,
then we'll do it that way.
But I just, we're still evaluating the,
players and skills sets of those guys
and we'll take it from that.
I don't know where we are in the recruiting
calendar, but you just left a roster
where there were a couple of guys
older than you. Have you had to get
on the phone with a 15-year-old
kid saying, hey, it's
Steve Belichick. Hope to have you
in the purple and gold one day.
Yes.
I placed
on my first high schooler
just last week,
which was
That's good.
A little bit different.
We didn't have, yeah, exactly.
We didn't have FaceTime back when I was in the high school.
I'm not trying to sound like an old.
No, it didn't mean in.
Yeah, but we didn't have FaceTime, and there was no reason for me to FaceTime
a high school kid, and then it's like, you know, recruiting.
It's like FaceTime him, FaceTime them.
And that was a little bit different.
My adjustment, but, you know, it's part of the business.
And I learned on the fly, as we used to say in New England, adapt or die.
Adapter die, indeed.
Steve, my buddy Nate's got a question for you.
Yeah, just kind of piggybacking off that.
How has it been navigating the whole NIL and learning the portal from a coach's standpoint?
It's been interesting.
I'm trying to learn that stuff.
They got a bunch of those little like NIL versus NLI, and I didn't know what that meant.
I'm looking to get it.
That's a natural letter.
Okay, good.
I'm glad I remember that.
We started PRPs yesterday, which is player run practices.
So I'm learning all these little things and stuff like that.
But every day I'm trying to learn and digest it.
I'm still trying to learn everything that's going on around here.
I've had my second academic meeting this morning.
Oh, nice.
Nice.
Guys.
Which I definitely would have been on the hot list, which they call it, which he needs to pick it up to be eligible.
So all this stuff's new, but at the same time, you know,
get these guys so that you can get out there and play ball.
All right. Can you recruit me and Kyle?
Speaking of recruiting to Udub, I'm 18 years old.
I'm Chris Long. I play defensive end.
I don't know if I'm a scheme fit because I don't know what your scheme is, coach.
And Kyle is 6 foot 9, 330 pounds.
He's 13 and he has a mustache.
You're going to FaceTime him later tonight.
Like what's going to be the pitch for both of us to come to Udub?
Well, you're 18.
He's 13.
books you guys are both have you know let's say potential which i don't love that word about
potential uh chris were 15 minutes from seattle there's things going on in seattle you may be
in i don't know if i could pitch that yet i'm in i don't think we're quite there yeah i'll
maybe get a couple years older maybe you can go with chris or if if chris has some connections
maybe it's two years i don't i don't know yeah but now i'm not i'm not
No, not like that.
This is kind of how it went.
I like, Kyle, you may want to get a little older, but we'll take you right now.
Chris and I are four years apart.
So this is kind of how it went in high school for me, because like Andy Heck recruited Chris to play at UVA.
Andy Heck went elsewhere.
He went to the National Football League to go coach.
And then I was 15 and I was still getting to know Chris's connections at UVA.
But the question I have for you is, dad taught me to play offensive line because he knew what
defensive lineman didn't like.
With all the years you spent on this side of the ball, on the defensive side of the ball,
getting to coach with guys like Dante Scarnacia and all the legends that were on that
offensive staff, if you woke up tomorrow, gunned to your head and they said you have to
coach a new position, which one would you feel most comfortable coaching and why?
That's a great question.
He's full of all.
Well, in college long periods, academic meetings, let's say certain groups are higher management
and others.
Defense and that's an academic guy,
but if you don't do academic stuff, right,
then you know, you're not out on the field.
So it's very important.
I'm not saying that.
But, man, gun to my head, I mean, you know,
tight ends are kind of like linebackers
where you're coaching the run in the past game,
which I enjoy.
I enjoy that stuff.
What star, Dante, taught me about O-line,
was those guys never leave it.
They need to be.
the toughest group on the team.
No plays off for the offensive line,
and you're expected to play every single snap.
And I really took that to heart because no one else really does that.
It's different for quarterbacks who they can just stand the ball off
or Devin in the middle of the field where it's a run.
And, you know, guys like Chris and hide just, you know, stuff around.
So you're in a little backpedal and you're, you know, run it down a little bit.
But the offensive line, run away, run two, ass game, all that stuff.
There's really no plays off for that group.
So I'm going to give you two answers with fight ends in the whole line.
Hell yeah, bro.
That's pretty good.
Why not?
I looked up some of your old stats.
Why not long snappers?
There we go.
You couldn't coach the long snappers?
For sure he could.
No, I'll coach the shit out of long snares.
I'll just try and answer the question.
You know, they said offense.
Once we get to the kicking game, I mean, yeah.
Yeah, that's a.
I was on the sideline for the kicking game, even in my late.
later years, I was like, I'm not even doing P. It's nice to be on the side. I used to be like, I'm not
fucking doing PAT. A lot can go wrong. A lot can go wrong. I got this snap. A lot can go wrong.
I got a field goal blocked against Duke and almost got us beat like homecoming weekend. Oh, six.
It was ugly. I was the guy that's supposed to do this thing. Like, I still don't know how to do
this thing. Like, what the fuck was I supposed to do? How am I supposed to do that? Talk about the players
because, you know, you talk about, you mentioned high, like you mentioned Devin and like we, I played with for a year in New
England, some great players, and you spent a lot of time with them. Were there guys that you remember
that you're like, that guy taught me something in particular that I still hang my hat on? And who was
that guy? Or were they just multiple? I would say being a young guy, first guy that comes to
mind would be a guy like Steve Gregory, you know, undrafted by got accused. So he was somebody who
just took me under his wing when I was a coach. There were,
all those guys, you know, when I was coming up for
high school and college and coming to practices,
yeah, who kind of, you know, took me
under the other wing. A lot of good players like Willie Mack
and Brewski, Grable, Rodney, all those guys.
And then there was guys like Jarvis Green, who,
I think he was like a fourth or fifth round pick out of LSU.
He was like 6-3, 285,
290, played defensive end.
Kind of what you did, like.
Just 30 pounds heavier.
Yeah, well, I'm saying I was talking positionally, not body types, not body types.
But, you know, did some different stuff who not a lot of people talk about Jarvis.
Yeah.
You know, I had three sacks in the AFC championship against Indy.
And I go four, O3-04.
But now Steve Gregory is probably the first guy that comes to mind.
And then, you know, once I got in the safety room, why I began the safety coach,
coaching guys like Devin versus Pat Chong was.
just a big experience for me.
Devon's the note taker,
studious type of guy who, you know,
remembers everything you say.
Pat never took notes.
Didn't overstudy film,
let's say it that way.
But he related everything to,
like, women,
you know, off the field activity.
Yeah.
It was totally two different spectrums,
and that was kind of a learning experience for me,
like how to coach the room,
with a guy like Devin and a guy like that.
Yeah.
So those guys taught me a lot.
And then these past few years, being with the linebackers,
it's been a great group that guys haven't really talked a lot about.
Not that, you know, I listen to that stuff,
but Juan Bentley,
Anthony Jennings, who had a great year for us this past year.
Jolani Tavai, who was just...
He was a stud, dude.
Stod. And, you know, no one talks about him.
Rayquan McMillan, who played last year,
Torres Achilles this past year, guys like that do.
I love the lineback room.
That's a great room.
So, you know, you just got to keep learning.
And now when I'm in college, it's almost like I've got to flush that stuff and learn again.
Is there a position that's more or less in demand in college because of the scheme on defense, you know, just the way the college game is?
And is there anything that really strikes you about the big differences schematically?
I almost feel like people in college play more coverages.
Is that true?
like B-Flow brought that thing from college this year
where they were playing zone behind these exotic fronts
and I think it were like six-man fronts or something
and they were playing like zone behind it
and people were saying you just don't see it in the pros
so it's totally new to people but in college
you see all types of multiplicity.
Do you feel like there's more multiplicity in college
and are there positional values that are different
for a defensive coordinator?
I would say one thing I do take from my dad
will be you never turn down a good player right and so it's up to the coaches to you know fit the
scheme we had a great great recruiting meeting the other day watching all these high school guys
with this another first for me along with face times so you know you see especially in high school
you want to see these guys pop up yeah they should be the best best players on the field so
watching these guys you've got to then you start to look at the skill sets like
can they run?
Are they explosive?
Are they willing to tackle?
Where do they play?
And that's kind of the one question I started to ask these guys is, like,
why are you a safety?
Why are you a linebacker?
Well, the coach told me to do it,
or I told the coach I want to do it,
or we already had a good linebackers on playing safety
and how they get to those positions at high schools.
I'm learning why.
So I'll never turn down a good player
and if mine's job to figure out how to get them on the field,
but yeah, it's just kind of all new.
And then the scheme's got to fit the players.
I'm not gonna, you know, come in here
and like rubber sample we did in New England.
That's not my job.
My job is to put these guys in the best position to win.
Cover one, nine techniques.
How does that sound?
Press coverage, lots of sacks.
What do you think?
If you got pass-brose.
Well, I just committed.
I just soft verbal committed.
Do you guys give tort all out?
Talk to the headcoat.
Talk to the headcoat.
All right.
And my other question, if I am going to come to Udub,
or if we're going to watch a lot of Udub games this year,
which we will be screaming our faces off for StevieB,
but like, can we get on one of those posters?
You know, the pre-snap posters?
Are they still doing that in college?
Can you put one of our faces on one of them?
Do you think you get soft verbal from you that we might see ourselves on TV?
Maybe.
I can see a third down green light call.
Yeah, green light, third down.
Oh, absolutely.
Absolutely, which will probably be of pressure, probably.
But now they actually, no, no, no, no, no.
Steve, do you remember the time that I made sure we dropped nine?
Yes, versus the Jets.
This never been done before.
I'm all about covering.
Drop nine.
Yeah.
I tried that against Mahomes for like three years.
I did it against Ryan.
Everybody in the league.
Oh, I absolutely remember.
that and I was like, I think we got the stop on the play. We definitely got the stop. It was the right
move. Yeah, exactly. And so I always just thought about, wonder what I'll find some
coaches who break down the games are thinking like, like, is this a call or is Chris M.E?
Chris has got to be a call. It's got to be a call. Yeah, it's Chris, such a smart football player.
Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I had a, I had a feel for it. Yeah, I just had a feel. I thought it was good
to drop nine there. How about, um, how about just like, talk.
talking about cold weather coaching cold weather i know it gets cold in seattle but you guys are
joining the big 10 do you think the guys are ready for that what are you going to do like if
you walked in and you're talking to your coaches and they were like what's the key to stay in warm as a
coach in like you know freezing temps what were the like in that patriots dressing room
where guys stuffing hot hot packs in their shirts and shit like what are the secrets of the
pat's cold weather uh protocol well the rule the rule on new enging was get your
shit on and let's go. So whether that that that was the rule. If it's raining outside, no,
we're not going to the bubble. I know. Get your shit on and let's go. So I mean, honestly,
I felt like it's come down to like mental. Yeah. Like, do you want to do it or be? Yeah.
That starts with like running and tackling. Like, do you want to hit somebody in the cold
and being on? And that's kind of been my mindset where, I mean, now they got the jackets,
They got the heaters.
They got all that stuff out there.
So get your shit on.
Let's go.
And, you know, let's not talk too much about it.
My dad's other thing was always like, you know, we're still playing whoever the
opponent is.
We're still playing Buffalo.
We're still playing the Jets.
We're still playing Miami.
So wherever the game is, that's the opponent.
And then the weather's effect.
Or, you know, those referee crews that call every penalty.
Like, we're not playing against the rest, but do business as business.
I know you got a question, but I got a question for my old coach.
How come when we'd go play somewhere warm,
you'd take us inside and turn it up 200 degrees.
You guys would turn the heat up,
but then, you know, sometimes you take us outside
when we didn't need to go outside.
It felt like there was no rhyme or reason there.
You just wanted us to be uncomfortable no matter what it was.
It was more it.
I would say that that's fair to be making you guys be more powerful.
It's a very fair assessment.
And then it's good.
You know, I'm learning this too because Jed's an offensive guy, and I've worked under a defensive guy.
So I feel like there may have been some maybe pure pressure to, hey, can we work on stuff inside?
We're not going to be playing in snow or cold going to one of those places.
So maybe some offensive influence from those guys, but, you know, being with Jed, it's a little bit of flip the script.
So we'll see how it goes.
We haven't practiced yet, but how he wants to handle that is what we'll do.
They've got a beautiful bubble.
I hope it gets used.
You've had your own room for about a decade now,
be it safeties or linebackers.
Now you're a coordinator.
Is that at all intimidating?
Is it exciting?
I mean, you're like going from salesmen to now regional manager.
Do you want all these other coaches reporting to you
or do you just want to go out there and coach a little ball?
But, you know, I don't want to be like the micromanager
that walks around and does other stuff.
This is a new, new territory for me, but, you know, I mean, it starts from the top with the head coach,
and then it trivels down to me as the defense supporter, and then it goes to the position coaches.
And they were hired as position focuses with, you know, Vinny's coaching the safeties, Jay Rich,
who I, you know, he's coached in the corners, who's his coached in the D-line,
and Cook Bala from Alabama, spoke to onebacker.
So they were hired to coach those positions.
I'm not going to overstep, you know, what they do or walk into their meetings and fuck around.
But we had that, you know, yesterday, everybody went to their position rooms and I'm sitting here like, yeah.
Yeah, I'm not, maybe I couldn't say that word, but, you know, like, I'm so like, you know, like, I guess I'll go over here.
And you sit and you sit in the back and kind of, yeah, no, no, no, no, I'm all, yeah, we're deep.
and it's going to be forced right now.
So, yeah, you just kind of, you don't want to micromanch,
but you also want to, you know, try and teach and to do that stuff.
So it's been a little bit different, but I'll figure out I got the itch yesterday
to coaching.
I mean, getting rid of all the academic meetings and what type of stuff.
So I'm ready to coach and figure out how I can put my stamp on some of these guys.
Last question along those lines.
Are you going to be a motherfucker guys in the big room kind of guy?
are you going to be like, what kind of communicator are you? Does it change from when your position
coach to a coordinator? Serious question, because like, I feel like guys do have to change a little
bit when they, but you don't want to change who you are. So like, what's your style of coaching
individually? That's a great question. And I would say, I don't know, because we haven't done
any competitive stuff. I may snap and go up. I'm not a big, you know, yelling type of guy.
I've never seen you yell.
Yeah, no, if you live next to the train tracks, eventually you don't hear the train
go back.
So I'm not the big.
He lives next to the trade tracks.
Yeah, I'm not.
Yeah.
Well, what do you actually do?
He always hears it in my backyard.
He calls me before it's going to come by my house.
Yeah.
Never let the facts fuck up a bit of a bit of aster.
So, you know, that's the saying.
It doesn't always apply, but I don't know.
I'll see if I get.
you know if the if the teap blows up but right now it's just kind of you got to teach and get
the let these guys get to know me i'll get to know them and uh who knows i want to finish with some
pat stuff nothing negative man because i mean that year was enough i know it's tough and the whole
thing and you are where you are now but like i want to talk about some good stuff a couple legends man
a couple of pat's legends to me we'll we'll you know we'll start with your dad obviously um my only
question about him is I'm not going to pry but is he okay is he good uh yeah i think he's good
you know let the stuff roll off your back and and move forward he he doesn't dwell unless we've lost
the game and he needs to get on some guys but you know eventually you got to turn the page so
now i mean honestly i wasn't too involved in any of that stuff he did his thing i did my thing and
and that was kind of that but um he's definitely pursuing some other stuff whether it's tv or
a regular on the green light or whatever maybe i can get you know i can bring it out of him i got a couple
smiles out of him over my uh tenure in new england and and i i smiled year to year when i saw him on
college game day and i don't know if you oh you felt the same way where you're like that's who he is
like he's capable of that like yeah people were shocked i'm like yeah he's a funny guy dude
yeah no i mean right right humor yes and i remember um so
A couple of weeks before we played Pittsburgh,
New Curbs Street, called the game.
Oh, I know.
So I was talking to a lot of money on the game, Steve.
Sorry.
That's what I'm talking about.
Yeah, good.
That's what you get.
We still had it in us.
But he was like, yeah, your dad's going to come on game day
and a couple weeks to the Army Navy game.
And in my head, I'm like,
I hope it just goes out and bezing his himself
and, you know, is, you know, like shows his personality a little bit.
it, which he doesn't do most of the time, unless you're in the building.
Yes.
And then once you're in the building, you see his things he likes to say, which I'm not going to say
any here, but you kind of get a sense of his humor and, you know, putting on the helmet
and stuff like that, like, he does shit like that a lot, but no one ever sees it.
And so I was happy that people at least saw a better side of him that not a lot of people see.
Are there hobbies, man?
I know I think I've asked you this before, but if he is off for a year or two, like, or whatever happens, like, if he's retired, what are the hobbies that you think he's going to partake in? Because that's the thing that I'm still having a hard time imagining. Yeah, I would say it's his hobbies would still be to, let's say, critique football. Okay. So, you know, he was excited when I came out here because he got to evaluate the scheme last year, evaluate the players last year. And,
I'm sure he'll come out here at some point to do some stuff,
but the guy just loves football.
So there's definitely that element.
He does, obviously, in Nantucket, whether it's, you know,
swimming, paddle warrior, and biking and all that type of stuff on the island.
He does that stuff.
You know, maybe have a couple cocktails.
I don't know.
Yeah, I don't know.
God, I love to go have a couple of cocktails.
Me and Chris, coach.
Oh, he incredible.
Hey, is he going to be a good house guest or a bad house?
guest. I'm sure you've never really had to host him.
No, he honestly, he's a great house guest when he comes over.
He hangs out with the kids. He usually asks for maybe a water, but he just, you know, he walks in.
He walks him like, it's his house. So he'll hop up in the fridge, like, have you been to the stories?
I'm like, no, I don't know.
Which I apologize to my wife sometimes. He'll just like kind of stuff like, hey, I'll be there in 30 minutes.
Yeah.
Like I thought I thought you said Saturday, not Friday, but you know, come on.
Late rotation.
Yeah, he makes it, he makes it feel at all in the night perfectly.
They're like when people walk into your house, at least from my house, me and my wife,
we always just want to, you know, come on in.
If you want to open the fridge, I'd rather you get it yourself and you have to make it for you.
That's awesome.
Well, tell him we were asking about him.
Seriously, I always tell people just a different guy than what people think he is.
And, you know, I loved my year there.
I mean, I've told him that before.
But the two other legends I want to talk to you about,
Gerob Mayo to me is a Pat's legend,
because now it's full circle he's going to coach the Pat's
and the whole thing.
I know you guys are boys and we're the same draft class.
So it's like three young guys here talking about,
you know, it's crazy to me that not only like you've gotten
where you've gotten, but also Girard's an NFL head coach
of like one of the most important franchises in history
and we're the same damn age, man.
How's he doing with that?
And like, what's your, what can Pat's,
fans expect from like head coached Gerob Mayo as a guy?
I would say like you said, me and Gerard go way back.
When he was on the IR a couple of years, he was interested in what I was doing as a QC.
Then he took a couple of years off, went to corporate.
Then he came back in 2019.
I was coaching the Savies that year.
But the following year, we started going to win backers together.
And, you know, we just had like a really close-volvelling-fit.
in New England, which is much different than
UW where I got this view, we had cubicles.
No offices.
It is what it is.
Right wrong or indifferent.
My office was next to Ninkovich.
I'll take your cubicle any day.
Yeah, no.
Yeah, we can get on a Niko all day.
So we kind of moved into the linebacker room
and made it that like, you know,
kind of the place where,
where people come do what they want to do and get away from the building without leaving the building.
Yeah. That was kind of a goal for us and working together. It's almost like a study all
play group where your desk are right next to each other. So that was great and we became so close
these last few years and I'm super excited for Gerard. I think he's ready for this. So I think that
you know it was his time and I think he's a great motivator and he's a great teacher. So,
Those are two good qualities for a heck though.
Dude, former players are winning, man.
You saw that Baltimore is hiring like young dudes.
I'm seeing guys younger than me getting hired to be coordinators and all types of stuff.
And then Antonio Pierce getting the head job.
So I think it's pretty cool.
I think it's cool to see the young players.
Like you've coached with a lot of guys your age that were playing and then watch them transition.
I'm sure there's challenges, but there's something to being a young coach.
Yeah.
Yeah.
No, I mean, you can, once you start getting a little bit past those plain ages,
the, you know, once you start having kids and start having a family and stuff like that and get married,
then, you know, it changes a little bit and kind of who you can relate to in the awful field aspect changes.
But it's still, at the end of the day, when you're in the building, like, you want that brotherhood, you want that camaraderie.
and he definitely brings that to that organization.
Final question.
Final dude I wanted to talk about our guy, Matthew Slater,
one of my favorite human beings, like period, football or otherwise.
And, you know, you watched him all this past year.
You know, he's not a guy that's going to go out and say,
hey, I need a farewell tour.
It was his last year.
Could you tell how hard was that on him?
And, you know, like a lasting impression of who he was as a guy in that locker room.
Yeah, I mean, you can't say enough good things, Godwin.
On the field, off the field, training, spending a ton of time in the building, you know, mentoring, young players, bringing along old players who may be, you know, going through something.
I mean, you can't say enough about Slate and, you know, those sweatshirts that we all wore for the last game of the year.
Yeah.
I'm not exactly sure where they came from, honestly, but they weren't everybody's locker and it was just.
like, oh, here it is, I'm going to pull it on.
And we all wanted to support Slate and everything he's done.
Yeah, honestly, he left the impact on everybody in some way, shape, or form,
and always appreciated him and where he came from and where he got to.
And the guy was elite.
Elite, bro.
And, you know, we're going to let you go,
but I also wanted to tell you I lost a lot of money on that last game of the year, too.
The Jet games?
I guess.
The defense did what they could.
Yeah,
I mean,
five.
Hey,
hey,
bro,
we love you,
man,
we're so psyched for you.
I'm just,
I can't wait to be a,
a U-Dub fan.
I got one of my buddies
at Penn State.
I hope they don't have to play you guys
because then it's going to be all weird.
November 9th.
No,
they don't.
Washington at Penn State.
Oh,
wow.
What is Oregon, Washington?
I'm a duck.
November 30.
I look out for that wide receiver coach, Marcus Hagan's, man.
He's a stud.
He's a stud.
We'll figure it out.
We go back to New Brunsville play Rockers, and I can't wait.
I mean, it wants it.
Yeah, it's not personal at all, but it's about winning at the end of the day.
So we're all out there when, and I don't care if I went there or not.
I mean, this is where I am.
I take a ton of pride and being out here.
I don't care that I've been out of here.
once in my life before, you know, coming out for the university process. Like, you know,
people need to take some pride in where they are and what they are. And I'm ready to do that.
And I'm excited. I'm learning a lot about everything out here. And, you know, great network at
UW with Seattle being right over there. Some schools don't have being far from city and stuff like
that. But, you know, whether it's alumni or just general, you know, successful businesses, like,
I think that's a good tool to
to talk to these kids about.
It's like, you know, when you go
certain places, it's not a lot around.
Yeah. But here, you don't have to,
like at Rutgers, you don't have to go up and work
to, you know, get an apartment
or travel 45 hour a day.
Get a nice meal or something.
I'll recruit Rutgers right now.
Yeah, look at you trying to steamroll your alma mater, dude.
Yeah, I mean, I don't care, but.
Oh, man.
If I go back to Rutgers, then I'll flip it
I cannot wait to send this to Devin and Duran and the other 78 players that you guys recruited to play for the Patriot.
I mean, all those guys.
But yeah, I mean, I'm excited to get it going around here.
And I'm learning stuff every single day, whether it's the acronyms, I don't know many of those yet.
But yeah, PRP.
I mean, I learned that yesterday.
Hey, fuck off, coach.
We're doing a PRP.
PRP sounds like a Skarnakia post-practice optional.
Yeah, exactly.
line.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
Deal.
We used to say that.
Man, optional, mandatory out.
Yeah.
Um, but yeah, no, it's, it's cool and, um, ready to get to work and both
fall and get all this other stuff out of, and give my HR training out of the way.
And, and, and let's, let's get it going.
Don't let HR make you cut that hair, man.
You're one of the best mullet coaches in the whole game already, man, but at season's
end, you might overtake, uh, Gundy.
So we're, we're pulling for you, bro.
Awesome, all the mullet's ring right now, but you never know.
with me on.
You never know.
You can still, you can still roll that out and fucking take it.
You can still roll that out.
It ain't given a moment.
Hey, Steve Belichick, joining the Greenlight Pop.
Appreciate you giving us a time and go you dub, man.
Go Huskies.
Hey, go you dub and let's get it going.
All right, brother.
See, man.
Even though the NFL season's over,
you can still make Little Caesars,
the official pizza sponsor of the NFL,
your go-to pizza spot.
Choose your favorite Little Caesar's pizza
or pick the toppings you crave.
Either way,
you win. And speaking of winning, everyone scores with convenient delivery or our in-store pizza portal
pickup. So grab some friends and enjoy a few slices throughout the off season.
All right, it's time for the C block. Time for some fun. At the beginning, we said...
A little enthusiasm here, Matt. We would come and talk about grunge music again. Seems like we're a little
uncertain what grunge music is. I thought we got that out of the way. Well, we were going to try to
figure out what it is.
It's obviously not what we think of.
It fuses elements of punk rock and heavy metal.
The best Pearl Jam song might be indifference.
It just reminds anybody who grew up at a high school like the one and ten things.
I will hold a candle.
Remember ten things I hate about you?
Until it burns up my arm.
Black old son.
Oh, I'm sabotaged.
Oh, I'll be.
You say it's a making thing?
That's apparently what you do.
Sabotage.
Is that what he tells you?
He's a savages.
That's what it's been said.
I'm not saying that he's doing what I tell you.
I met a super fan in Vegas and he said that Macon was the heel of the podcast.
Yes, that's right.
It's great.
He loves Macon.
Listen, the Rock was a heel for a long time.
Now the Rock's in every fucking movie.
He's hanging out with Michael Bay.
He's in a hoot-at-s-sohn songs.
Who would I be in wrestling?
All right, so we were at dinner the other night.
You're Stone Cold.
The Miz.
I met the Miz.
I met him.
He met yourself.
I didn't think so.
What was he like?
What were you like?
Very different than me.
He would be gold dust.
He was wearing a suit for one, and I was wearing sweatpants.
Okay.
For two, he's way more, the Mizz is way more like he's social, man.
He's a cool guy.
I think he's a cool guy.
This is the guy from the real world?
Not thinking about it.
That's Mizz.
That's the Mids.
Yeah.
Chris, you might be gold dust.
You might have been gold dust.
Gold dust.
Ultimate Warrior, I could see Chris, if he were to be in wrestling, he would fully commit to a, he would method act,
he would have face paint to be
to kind of blest you know like
Clark Kent takes the glasses off
oh god it's Superman it's like person put the
face paint on it'd be like it's you know
it's yeah it's the tickle monster
why did Clark claim pick the phone booth
it's the tick monster you think my
my signature move would be a tickle
a motherfucker you got three kids
I know yeah imagine that was a finishing
move it's dad
why isn't there a dad
wrestler like oh dad wrestler
would be great yeah like he turn it down
in here.
On a lazy boy.
He'd roll him in.
He comes in here.
He's like, he's like, this is, you know, like somebody, I don't know how it would work.
He'd have a tall white beard next to him.
He'd chuck it when he gets out of his lazy boy.
He'd take his belt off.
Get rid of, his belt off.
He'd come in the seat, crawl in the seat.
Get rid of whoops of ass.
He'd come in the door with a loosely undone tie.
Like he just got done with his 9 to 5, a shirt's on button.
There has to be a gal that's underwent.
named behind him that just like is yelling at him the whole time on his way out you know like the
nagged wife and then like here comes dad stone cold steve austin has the glass breaking dad has like
talking heads you know dave matthews bad no i mean fuck nobody was offended or out of talking
head be lincoln park i'm saying dad's listened to shit like that you're right what else would
what else would dad the wrestler do dude dad the wrestler uh i feel like hurry up get your clothes on
fellow wrestlers.
You may ask you to get him certain tools.
Monkey wrench.
When his kids run in,
he's got to hide his vape pad.
That's what I do.
Frankie takes my vape pen and runs with it.
Uh-huh.
I got to tackle her little ass.
Yeah.
My kids think Zen is gum.
Oh, my God.
That's not good.
No, but I told him it's like gross gum that gets you sick.
Like if you're under 18, it gets you sick.
Like, you have to go to the hospital.
So if they did a new sandlot, you think it would be with Zen instead of dip?
with yes it would be that's a really good point yeah you're on to something
like the pillows are flying everywhere that's like where would you take the historical figures
in bill and ted today like to show them the future oh where would you take bill and ted you know
like they brought them to a water park they brought them to a mall uh let's see i would take him to an
internet cafe yeah internet cafe laser tag i take napoleon vr i'd i'd take napoleon
VR.
I'd take Napoleon to his own movie.
Yeah, see, this is good.
Like, he'd be like, fuck, 46% on Rotten Tomatoes.
He would love it.
Take me back to the...
Nobody would love Napoleon.
Zygi Piggy.
Who?
If Napoleon watched that movie, he would love it.
Yeah, Napoleon.
I haven't seen it.
I heard it was good.
It was like romanticized him.
I would take Gingas Khan to a factory that makes sex dolls.
How about a UFC fight?
He would just go ham!
Which guy would you bring to a UFC fight?
Oh, fuck.
Joan of Arc.
Yeah.
Remember how good she was?
Go have her watch Rose Nama Yunus.
Oh my God, dude.
The guy with the buzz cut?
Oh, yeah.
Crushes people?
Yeah.
How about the one that went viral last week?
Anybody see that one?
Bobby Altov?
Nope.
I was late on that one.
Nope.
That was AI.
That was big.
Still, I was late.
All right.
So we talked earlier.
He would be the undertaker, and he would be the undertaker.
sidekick you guys would be
you guys would be an
Lion Undertaker whatever it would be it would be
You'd be his manager
You'd be his manager with the big googly eye
Yeah we get him like the fucking
Undertaker suit who is the guy to yell
We should really do a WWE dress up night
Absolutely where we all come in here
You'll be there so Chris one of my
Favorite it was all fake
One of my favorite pods that Rogan does
Is with his buddy Duncan Truzzle
And every time the done and he's like a nerdy
conspiracy theorists.
He comes on and they wear
matching costumes every time.
So it's like twice a year, they're in an
astronaut suit or they're dressed like vampires.
We have a lot of fun in here on Halloween.
I haven't done it yet.
We should do one night where I don't know what we do,
but we show up. Maybe everybody's on boomers.
Historical figures.
And then we go to the bar.
Yes.
We're all historical figures, though.
You guys want to go?
Yeah.
Okay.
Who do you call dibs on?
Jefferson.
Oh, historical figure?
You're going to have no problem.
getting free drinks in this stuff, buddy.
JFK.
Don't have to talk to anybody.
Don't talk to my friend.
He's just relaxing over there.
He's dead tired.
He's got a funny look.
Remember a commando?
He's dead tired.
Okay.
Who would you, who would you, who would you call divs on?
For real.
Who would I call dibs on?
Teddy Roosevelt.
I'm coming on a horse.
Can I do Bob Marley?
Yeah, it wouldn't be any worse than the guy.
Now we're just doing Halloween.
In the movie Bob Marley, if you're going to do a fucking movie about Bob Marley,
just don't.
Just don't.
It's impossible to capture that guy.
Who's somebody, who's a white guy that's impossible to capture in a casting?
Chris Farley.
No, he's not impossible.
See, that's a good point, though.
Chris Farley is like, his energy is unmas.
Carrot top.
When they do the caputop biopic, we saw him in person.
Yeah.
I forget where.
Is he big?
I don't want to remember Carat Top like that.
Is he big?
Really?
Yeah.
Why would happen?
The way we've seen him in Vegas.
Oh, yeah.
Well, yeah, he didn't look like young Carat Top.
No, not.
Did not look like the Carat Top.
I used to watch our TV.
I called Divs on...
Hmm.
Oh.
Makin, you're going to be Jefferson Davis, aren't?
William Sherman.
Yeah.
I'll be William to come to the sheriff.
I'm going to be Sherman.
Okay, I want to be Robert Wadlow.
Who the fuck is that?
You're not 8-11, dude.
No, I know, but I want somebody to make me 8-11.
And go to the bar, 8-11.
It'd be incredible.
Great stuff, boys.
That was the best part.
Great stuff, boys.
We were talking the other day.
We were saying we wanted to end some beefs.
So I want to go to each of you and a couple beefs for us.
Yeah, I was just the other night we were at dinner,
and Nate was telling me about,
these beefs you know like and i just think in it today in the world being a celebrity it's almost
like you have to have a beef have we come to a point in society where it's just like the currency is
beefing that everything's the whole history of the world though chris everything's so hectic why everything's so
have you noticed that everything's so fucking hectic right now documented now yeah it's just the internet
yeah the internet algorithm the internet and the fucking being addicted to the internet man the 90s
if I could, I'd pay any amount of money for a drug that just gave me like 90s vision.
90.
You remember the 90s about being a kid?
Yeah.
Fucking just how simple things were.
T9.
C-9.
C-9.
C-9.
C-9.
It was simple, but dial up, bro.
Anyways, I just want to end some of these beats.
Exactly.
You've got mail.
That was lit.
Yeah, it took you, it took you so long to jack off.
Oh, my God.
Well, I mean, just to like,
Aiden and I are looking at each other like,
eh,
some things never change.
You just had to wait at night
until real sex came on, HBO.
Yeah.
Somebody once told me if you put
Tupperware over the TV
on Cinemax,
that it'll invert the blur.
And I remember I would just be like,
What?
It'd be like, yeah,
because the way it blurs
is in Tupperware.
It's like a reverse
Uno card.
Hey, that's why my Tupperware
was mentioning when you came
to my house?
Bro, when you stayed at my house, all the tubular was on.
That's so funny, bro.
That's so funny, bro.
You held out the Tupperware as far as you could.
It's just something I heard.
It's not something I said.
They said it.
You put it on top of the TV.
What about all the plot?
It's just too much plot.
You have to get one of those small.
That's why we got a VCR and we made a highlight tape.
The small.
Sauce Randikin.
Okay.
We're ending beef.
We're ending beef.
We're ending beefs.
Yeah.
What's the beef you're ending, Chris?
The beef I'm ending.
Well, I honestly, I...
You're ending beef, period, is what it sounds like...
Well, I was really excited about ending some beefs when we talked about it at the restaurant the other night.
And then, you know, I got all into it.
And what I realized is I couldn't think of too many.
Chris...
Now, I'll tell you that Vin Diesel and The Rock should not be beefing.
Are they?
That's what I read on the Internet.
Dangerous for Vin.
Okay.
I also...
Have you seen his movies?
Yes.
If he's half the person in his movies, very dangerous for the Rock.
The Rock made.
in Hawaii.
Joey Chestnut and Kobayashi.
Oh.
Real beef.
You're two Titans.
You're like the two guys.
You love the same thing.
Is that what you hate about each other?
You're mad.
There's only, there's two of you guys.
Can't be two.
You can't share the fucking life.
Like Tupac and Biggie.
Like Tupac and Biggie.
You know what I'm saying?
I got one.
I'm moving to Gold Post a little bit,
but I'm going to go with McDonald's
and the ice cream machine company.
Okay, that works.
That's a big, that's a huge beef.
The service providers for the ice cream machine.
Have you seen, have you seen like the story about it?
The ice cream, like the reason why the machine is never fixed.
I'll move the goals.
Because they charge so much per hour for the company who makes the ice cream machine for McDonald's.
They charge their, the technicians charge so much.
It's like 500 something that owners of these McDonald's are just like, no, we don't need it.
Not going to lie to you.
Hey, not going to lie to you.
I mean, no disrespect.
I didn't hear a thing you said because I'm just thinking about the Middle East.
Once you did McDonald's, I was like, we could just do the Middle East.
If I could just wave the magic wand.
Yeah.
So, but we're talking about, like, beefs that are interpersonal.
Okay.
America versus international opinion of America.
I wish we could end that beef.
Like, where you step on a, you step off a plane.
What?
No, I'm laughing because it's, it's, it's back.
I'm tired of getting off a plane somewhere.
saying hi to somebody, smiling somewhere,
and not having it reciprocated,
because they can just sense that I'm American.
But they're right.
Hey, raising my mind.
Why? What did I do wrong?
No, no, no, no. He didn't do anything wrong.
Explain to me that.
I think somebody, that is, okay.
Tired to be in the victim.
I understand.
I'm canceling everybody.
Okay, well, listen to this.
Try this one on Versailles.
People act differently in different countries.
They have different customs.
So I think sometimes we end up in different places,
and we project our insecurities
because a lot of people do hate us.
They do, but we'll go to a country
where they're just not, he's mad, we'll go to a country.
I'm projecting my insecurities.
No, I'm talking about us.
Like, as Americans.
It's not all about...
I know.
It's a response to what I'm saying.
So we go to like the Netherlands,
and motherfuckers are just kind of like...
Or Germany.
You know, German people, I found to be really nice,
but when I was in Frankfurt,
what I realized is there a lot more like...
Like, cold, bro.
You know, you got, like, fuck,
meet people all over the world that just have different ways man you go to japan they'll have you in a
pretzel in japan i'm not talking about sumo kyle i'm talking about social customs yep and you might
be like oh they hate me they don't hate you but they can have their customs like we can have our
customers and i appreciate their cultures and the differences in their cultures but i don't feel like it's
reciprocated at all i talk and i feel like there's a small percentage of people yeah that piss in the
in the fruit punch and it just sours the the whole deal no question we're
very visible we're at the center of entertainment globally we're at the center of the
sport that's the beef on outside of soccer no i know but i just this is an interesting topic because i
ask people like when i'm somewhere else i'm like do you all really hate us and like i ask like
flight attendants this sometimes i'm like talk about the rudest people by by like region of the world
like what part of europe are you just like you've been flying klm ma'am for 30 years
are the fucking French assholes
you know I will grill them
and they always come back to like Americans
get a bad rap and I don't talk
to anybody it's like yeah y'all suck
I think they see us as like
Russia and Australia mixed together
that's what I think we would see
if we were looking at a mirror
yeah it's just it's tough to put your
it's tough to cover all the bases
when there's so many types of bases
and spread out so far
naval
yes
well I mean I just think
about all the different types of people that make up the American population. The countries that are
represented, all the people that if you ask them, what are you, they don't say American. They
live in America, they work in America, they provide elsewhere. That's our culture. We're a business
venture, really. We're a melting pot. Yeah, we're a melting pot. You just don't like some of the
soup spilling. I just don't like the way that people are talking about the Yelp reviews.
Melting pot. It's not good. All right, and that beef. Another one. People from the Northeast
versus everyone everywhere. And when I say the Northeast, I'm not talking about Maine and Rhode Island. I'm
talking about New York. I'm talking about New Jersey. I'm talking about Philadelphia, that region
where they're like, everything we have is better than everything everywhere else.
Yes. You know what I'm saying? There's an elitist mindset that I feel like comes,
particularly from people that have spent time in New York. All right, we just lost the Northeast.
The Northeast. And everybody in Somalia that listens to this. Yeah, from there.
The tri-state area. It's like, you know, our waters betters, our bagels. It is, bro.
I'm not trying to listen. My job is the antagonist in this is just to provide.
a different people.
We have hard order.
You not know that?
No, no, but listen.
Okay, but you-
Get the water imported from New York here from Cotto-Dato.
Hey, newsflash, guys, everyone thinks they're the best.
Everybody in Charlottesville thinks is the best place to live.
Everybody in Asheville thinks that's the best mid-sized, mid-Atlantic City.
Everybody in New York thinks they invented pizza.
People in St. Louis invented their own pizza and said it's good.
It's not good.
People in St. Louis thinks St. Louis is the center of the universe.
I played there for eight years.
They're awesome people.
Everywhere thinks they're the best.
There are things that like people have blind spots.
Everybody from California thinks California is the tits.
It's not there.
I know a ton of people that hate California that live in California.
Well, why do they live there?
Because they live there.
Supra.
Where they were born.
Because they're hypebeats.
Because they're hypebees.
I got another beef.
People.
I got to take it back to people.
I have Deas and Mero because their run on Vice, the late night, their late night show was
amazing at the time. And I know they went separate ways and they both are doing great stuff on TV,
but I would like to see that show go a little bit. Max Kellerman, Stephen A. Smith, same type of deal
where it's like great TV and we're not going to be able to see it forever. Yeah. Because I like,
like you, Dacis and Mara, like I would cry laughing watching their stuff. Yeah, they had some of the
best shit ever. But also like it's so hard to be that successful and stick together. Yeah.
Like it just we, bro, we, we like the first couple years of this podcast,
we would be like arguing over shit that was just ridiculous and we're just a little podcast can you
imagine being like actually famous together with another person like insane so i'd love to see
jim roem and jim everett make squash that yeah yeah because they could do a great like interview
with each other like yo you remember when you threw me off yeah that was pretty funny i feel like we
might be getting a little old like people might not know about jim roem and jim effort i think people listen
this podcast meal yeah aiden do you know about jim roman
Jim Everett. He's the TV guy, right, Jim Rome? Jim Rome. That's right. Legendary Southern California
and what about it. And what about Jim Everett? Never heard of him. Okay, there we do. Hey, segment, put a pin in this one,
but explain things to Hayden. Yeah, that's good. You know, like hold up a picture and we have to explain.
Yep. That's really good. Herbo, Chris, keep a beef going. I do want to keep the Stephen A. Smith and
Jason Whitlock beef going. I think. Oh, that's great beef. I think they're online beef and they're back and forth.
It's a great beef.
You fat piece of shit.
It's a great beef because with Jason Whitlock, you just don't engage.
You know, that's generally the rule.
And, like, I have been so close to tweeting back and, like, arguing with somebody who's arguing in bad faith.
Or, like, in general, I think the Internet in general, like, it's just about arguing in bad faith.
A lot of times, sometimes you're doing it and you don't even know it.
But this guy is just a bad faith argument machine.
And Stephen A has the platform where he's, like,
like I can actually fucking go with this guy
and I thought it was great he did.
I got a beef.
Submersibles versus pressure.
Okay.
Oh shit.
That's good.
Okay, that's good.
Another beef.
Chicago versus quarterbacks.
Yeah, let's end that.
But with the guy you have there now,
it's not going to happen.
I've got a few more, but go ahead.
Yeah, I'm in the business of promoting beefs.
I think beefs lead to progress.
The space race, for instance, the United States and Russia.
How can you forget Apollo 11 and landing on the moon, you know?
That was a major beef that led to breakthroughs and all sorts of.
Allegedly.
We allegedly landed on the moon.
So I'm going to mind my own and not try to end any.
You know, the Hatfields and the McCoys were interesting.
So the Hatfields lived in Kentucky, the McCoys in West Virginia.
The McCoys were Confederates, the McCoys Union folks.
And then one of the McCoys...
The thing you were talking about earlier?
One of the McCoys stole a hog from one of the Hatfields, okay?
So then the Hatfields come over to the McCoys and start killing them and shit.
And then in the middle of all the killing, well, a Hatfield,
fellow and a McCoy
lady start making eyes
at one another and it's like a Romeo and Juliet
situation. They get together
which leads to even more
bloodshed on the Kentucky
West Virginia line. Nobody fucked my sister
but... Cherry Poppin. They break
up. They break up and then he
dates a different McCoy lady.
You know about this. Well and it was
both the McCoys and Halfields
are on the Confederate side
but one McCoy was on the
union side. That's beef right
Yeah.
Yeah.
Bro, that's capital B beef.
That's on site.
That's on site.
That's right.
On site, bro.
Back in the day, if it was on site, you had to have your fucking musket.
They were like, it's on fucking site.
Where is this?
And just that, that's, that beef has been squashed.
They've made peace.
They do a family reunion every year where Hatfields and McCoys get together.
Did you got a book report or something?
Dude, I, there was a great.
There's a beef here.
There's a great, uh, history channel.
Oh, nice.
Kevin Cozner.
You got a pretty relics.
The shifflets and the Morris.
In the morris.
No, on site back then, you had to do the paces shit back to back.
Yeah, I know.
That's what I'm saying.
It was like a whole thing.
Anyways, go ahead.
All right, so let's cast some actors as NFL players.
Anybody got ideas like what actor could play a certain NFL?
I have too many.
They did this on mailbag.
I have way too many.
I was giddy.
It was so fun.
Yeah, let's just go.
It's ideation.
I have way too many.
Kyle, you want to start?
I got a bunch also.
I would say.
I would say.
I'm going to start with Matthew McConaughey as an offensive coordinator.
Like young McVeigh type maybe.
They can take away or add age to the actors now.
Did you say cast?
Yeah.
Okay.
Would you be willing?
Because I want a totally different direction, comparing their careers more so.
But this is great.
Variety's good.
Okay.
I feel like if they need somebody to play Antonio Pierce, it'll be Ice Cube.
Snoop Dogg would be John.
would be Justin Jefferson.
I've got
DeMarne Hamlin, John Snow.
I was thinking
Sillion Murphy for Snoop Dog
but Silly and Murphy.
Johnny Depp and Willie Wonka,
Mark Trussman, could play him.
Absolutely.
Jacob Vargas,
who is the Latino American
that's in every military movie ever
about the U.S. military.
I know exactly who he is.
Jacob Vargas, great actor.
He would be Shad Khan.
I've got
Josh Brolin
It's DEI, Chris
You've got to give people opportunities
To play other people
Josh Brolin would be Dan Campbell
Yes
I could see that easily
And then you've got to think common
If they ever did a
That's the best one right here
If they ever did their mid-teens bears
It would be Mafforte as common
That's really good
That's the best one
Tate Dick
Jason and Devin McCordy
I love that
He plays both of them
Both of them
Yeah
Adam Sandler plays like eight people
In every movie
Uh huh
Nuddy Professor
That's good though
With that
Eddie Murphy
He plays all of
Yeah
Eddie Murphy playing
Adam Sandler
Yes
What's you got Nate
Okay so I got a few
So I went a different
A different direction
But kind of like Kyle
So I have
Forst Whitaker
Playing Brian Flores
and it would be like preview would be when you stand for what's right but also need that paycheck
Morris Whitaker is Brian Flores and y'all racist Brian Flores versus the NFL yes y'all racist is the
movie this is like an ad man yeah and then I have um okay I have um okay I have um Josh brolin
he plays Brett Fav in a movie about the welfare scam and Josh Rowland is Brett Farv in
Monster of Mississippi.
And then
my last one is
Will Smith stars as
Deshawn Watson in unhappy endings.
Mm.
Oh.
I got a couple more.
Keep going.
By all means.
Idris Elba
as Dave in the Joku
in the firebender.
I just interviewed the guy.
He would like that.
That's a compliment.
Okay, so Jason Manoa.
Yeah.
Well, either one.
As Jordan Maelada, the rugby singer.
Okay.
The rugby singer.
Disney?
I love that title.
And then.
Okay.
It did.
John David Washington.
Who is that?
You guys got to look him up.
He's a black actor.
Dinsel.
Washington's son is.
John David Washington.
plays Antonio Brown and concuss the annual Antonio Brown story and it will follow him his life
from the day he walked out and met life until the current day and follow his CT ESPN
media yeah that whole thing kind of a biopic biopic yeah Steve Carrell plays him in the
episode where he burns his feet yeah the George Foreman Grill was such a great episode
like building exercise on the beat we might have some office content next week okay good
Julia Roberts is playing Tua Tua Tunga Vialoa.
No, they both have, they both have terrific smiles.
Daniel Kaluas is Joe Burrow.
Don't know him.
Mark Wahlberg.
I know him.
Playing Dak Prescott.
I don't, I mean, they're both wildly overpaid.
I don't care for any of Wahlberg's content.
What?
You don't like entourage?
Wow.
I never heard like anything.
No, I did the whole entourage thing.
He's not in it though, right?
He just created it.
It's about him.
Do you know that, right?
I guess I had forgotten.
Mark Wahlberg is Julian Edelman, dude.
Yeah.
All right.
Mix in here.
Okay, I got you.
Okay.
Like I said, I'm kind of more, like, for instance,
Gary Oldman is like Jalen Ramsey,
because he's like a villain in everything, you know?
Jalen's like kind of the perfect.
villain. But he's so good at it. So good at it. So good at it. Full of emotion, both of them, right?
Like, Oldman overacts almost. He admits that. He's like, I do it. Jalen brings truck the whole thing
the theatrics. Brendan Fraser playing James Harden. That's pretty good. Yeah.
So this is a good one, but it's kind of along the lines of the other. So I think Leo's Josh Allen.
okay for the simple fact that i think that's where we're headed you know like leo didn't win an
oscar for eons and everybody was like i can't win the big one but he was still awesome right like
fucking josh's o t game that you were there for Kyle right like that wasn't good enough but
you know but damo was great but like uh leo on ludes crawling into his Ferrari or labrgini
wasn't good enough to get an Oscar i think it was a cooombe
Whatever it was, it was an awesome scene, and so was the OT game.
Josh and Leo are great between the 20s.
Bro, okay.
So also Josh has a habit of forcing his balls into players with 20-something number.
There it is.
You know?
Not unlike Leo, but I think Josh Allen is on a revenge tour, like Hugh Glass from the Revenant.
Literally a guy that hung out with Buffaloes.
And if you remember Hugh Glass, his plight was he was like left for dead.
And then he came back and...
He was hanging with the natives.
McDermott would love that.
Yeah, exactly.
Exactly.
Exactly.
Kyle.
He would.
Denzel Washington is Puka Nakuwa.
Charismatic as the day is long.
Cowboy just...
Is Tom Hanks Paid Manning?
Yeah.
Like America's dad.
Pretty boring.
There's like better looking.
Hey.
No,
but that's the thing about Peyton.
He's not boring,
you know,
but I think people think of him as boring.
I think of Tom Hanks is boring and less hot than the other actors.
Brendan Frazier is Elon Manning.
You know who will play Eli,
I mean,
Pay Manning?
Because he beat the mummy.
Who's,
um,
the white shrews actor?
I'm not,
I'm not casting.
Rain Wilson.
Oh,
you're not casting.
No,
I'm not casting him.
I'm doing a totally different exercise than you guys.
Um,
but I also think,
uh,
like Tom Hanks was good against pirates.
so was
Peyton Manning
13 and 2 against the
the Bucks and the Raiders
And sleepless in Seattle
Think about sleepless in Seattle
You know it was sleepless in Seattle
Fucking Peyton Manning 43 to 8
Oh snap over the head
And Peyton's career took a turn
So did Tom Hanks
He was doing big
And then it was AIDS
Philadelphia
And then you know like
So same thing
I think the same career
Anyways
I would also cast
I would also want to cast Denzel Washington as Larry Fitzgerald.
Let me throw that one.
We throw that in the hat.
I want to credit myself for cross-race casting.
We understand.
We knew that was going to be the bit.
Poop in the potty.
All right.
Zach Efron stars as Brock Purdy and Mr. Relevant.
How about Brock Purdy cast as Lee Harvey Oswald in the JFK?
bro it looks exactly like him looks exactly like them i will catch up to you guys and do the same
segment next week i know and bring you some casts okay okay but like i don't have any actual cast
all right that's fun today is february 23rd he's such a teacher though segue master yep
today's february 23rd the anniversary of one of the most famous photos of all time oh iwojima
chris alerted me to this this morning and so everybody sent in five
of the most famous or of their favorite sports photos of all times we're going to go through
them we're going to go through them we're going to go a little bit and guess who submitted it yeah
because uh I think I'm going to know I think I have it yours one of yours for sure okay that's
that's that's Bobby or something Bobby or leaping after scoring I said a making that's
that's making for sure you all got it yeah that's Stanley Cup finals game four
1970 this always sticks in my mind because he's not wearing a helmet and he's horizontal jumping on to ice
yeah that guy gave a visceral reaction that could be bad hockey guys are tough yeah they are tough
allegedly allegedly okay um all right we got number 14 kneeling our second black and white photo
i'm gonna say see long that's a nice curveball throughout there trying to say me he's crazy
No, it's me.
It's why a kiddle, man.
You know how I knew?
Because my dad has a picture.
You said, um, right away.
Oh, I said, um.
Yeah.
Well, no, my dad had this picture.
And I always, you know the picture.
It's down in dad's office, Kyle?
Yes, I submitted this as well.
Oh, did you?
Oh, so we were like, so we were kids and I used to look at this picture and I'd be like,
who was that guy?
That's just like a haunting picture.
Obviously, he's bleeding.
And he looks exhausted.
67.
I think at this point, he's pretty old.
And I think it's, uh, great giant.
64 and he's playing the Steelers and this guy on the Steelers was just beating his ass and he threw a pick six and this is him in the end zone with a broken sternum a concussion and blood coming out of his head and I'm not saying I'm not glorifying it but this is the reality that's football wow that's a good one this is a innate submission that's common read submitted some as well not this is a Nate submission oh it's Reed
Cowboy Reed is my guess you got Reggie Bush jumping over the guy from what Notre Dame that's UCL
L.A.
Oh, you're going to stay in 2008 Olympics.
You can see me every single time?
Yes.
That's Nate.
It's a black guy.
That's Nate.
That is my submission.
So is it mine.
Thank you.
So is it mine.
And Reed.
Oh,
how cool is this picture?
It's the best.
This is like peak dominance.
If it wasn't you,
it was him.
If you were like,
submit a picture that that encapsulates
dominance in sports.
Yes.
This is the picture.
All right.
Like, this motherfucker is smiling, looking back at three of the fastest people on the planet.
He's a full body length ahead of them.
Just think about it for them.
It's one thing to lose that race.
How about being in that picture?
For the rest of your life, you're, like, encapsulated in this picture.
Oh, yeah.
But every one of these guys behind him is the most elite runner that they've ever met.
The joke would be, I'm in the picture.
Yeah.
But for runners, look at that gap.
Yeah.
All right.
I got a.
Oh, this is an like.
Ats, UVA football, sacking the Maryland quarterback.
That's Macon.
See Long and Chris Turner.
It's an 1817 win for the Hoos.
I was there.
Great game. I was there.
I can still feel what his head felt like under my head.
I bet that's that Dr. Fax?
Yes, yes, it was.
Facts.
I thought it was you.
I can still feel the way his neck bet back.
Like it was like, and it was, there was no fear of a penalty.
It was so long ago that this would have been
disqualification now.
Is that you top left, Nate?
No, I think it's Jeffrey Fisiel.
Okay.
It's a good player.
I'm shocked and tear both my ACLs three all jumped on me.
What a picture.
We got UNC and Michigan State playing on the aircraft carrier.
That's a making, I think, basketball guy.
Great photo.
But there's a military thing.
It's Kyle or cowboy?
Kyle.
I first missed.
Cowboy Reed.
Oh, it's me too.
You and Reed.
Christmas Christmas.
Oh, wow.
Oh, my God, dude.
Yeah, no, this is cool.
Look at this guy.
This game was hilarious because they wanted to play it outside,
and then they just threw up bricks.
They played it on N-64.
Yeah.
But it's so damn cool.
It's just such a cool-ass picture.
Next one's making.
Yeah.
We got Kyle Guy getting fouled in the Final Four game.
What's the arrow?
It appears to be pointing at a broadcaster,
court said. It's you.
Oh.
That's awesome. Megan's in the background of this picture.
Now, I almost submitted the picture of
Sports Illustrator where we made it in the background.
I have that hung in my office and I have that
Sports Illustery cover in my office. Incredible.
You live your whole life
as an athlete and you're like, oh, it'd be cool to be
on Sports Illustrated. You end up there
as a fan. It was the coolest
thing ever, though. It was.
All right. Great photo
of Big Poppy, home run.
Police officer.
celebrating as the guys upside down great photo any guesses on who's this was read scott rhynne oh seelong it's me
i just think it's a cool picture it's awesome very cool picture it's a cool picture man the symmetry's
crazy it's one and a million you're right and it really captured like the whole city being behind
a team like that's what it's about in the postseason it's like everybody's on the team when you see
the cops on the side of the field you're like they're they're trying not to cheer you know what
It's like the minute man at New England.
He looked like he has a fake beard on.
You don't know what football is.
Just shoot your gun.
That guy broke character.
And I think this is like, was this the year of the Boston bombing?
I think it was just after.
Just after.
So like, you know, there's a lot going on here.
Yep.
You know, and that's...
He got fired for this picture.
All right.
So we got Nick Fowdo crowning tigers as the 1997 master's champion.
First time.
Kyle Long?
Kyle.
Oh, this is me.
That's, uh, he's a, uh, he's.
You know, that's the beginning of a historic run there.
So big dog?
The thing, yeah, big dog.
The things that this young man, Tiger does, to earn that jacket and then to be where he is today,
it's iconic.
And I think, you know, going from a guy that wasn't allowed to be on the property at Augusta
to winning the Masters, it just speaks volumes about how incredible he was and how iconic this moment is.
A big FU to Augusta.
All right, we got the blood.
These sock, Kurt Schilling.
That's a thinking man's picture.
I think that's Reed, because he's looking at his phone really hard right now.
That's my guess.
Who is it at?
It's Kyle.
Oh, wow.
Why?
It was during my formative years.
During my formative years, it was watching that run, and then when the blood, was it
ketchup came on the sock, it was a big deal.
The problem is it's Kurt.
You know?
Yeah, but I'm just looking at it as a 15-year-old Kyle watching the Red Soxie and a salty old picture.
I tried to get Kurt.
It's playing with his.
I tried to get Kurt to give me three, four cameos over the past four years.
Like, fuck, fuck with him cameos.
He never writes me back.
Yeah.
Why'd you say ketchup?
Because people said it was ketchup.
Yeah.
There was a conspiracy theory.
Oh, wow.
All right, we got one of Michael Phelps's dominance in 2008 Olympics.
This next to Michael Phelps.
Nice.
No, Troy A-Klin.
Is he aerodynamic?
I don't know.
Yeah, yeah.
There wasn't any sound.
I think it's just flat.
His thick is flat.
This is a cowboy submission.
Peas out of his flipper.
He has a hydrafoil for a cog.
Strong streaming.
He's got a dorsal fit between the legs.
Bayblade.
All right, this is from the 1988 slam dunk contest when
This is from the 88 slam dunk contest
When the greatest players in the world
Still were in the dunk contest
Michael Jordan
Shade
This should be everybody
Yeah that's what I was going to guess
This was
I had this poster
Yeah
But I had the I like the one from the front
I do so
The one from the front is the Bears team photographer
And he
That was like his claim to fame
He took that picture
Just incredible dude
This was peak like
Gold watches
fucking big hair
Jordan versus Dominique
LA Lakers
fucking
I mean this is the golden era
in the NBA
dude
like to me I don't know
No doubt
Agreed
All right we got the
1968 Olympics
Juan Carlos raising the hand
I'm not going to guess
Nate
because I feel like
it's too on
chalky
But I almost put this one in
Myself, I love this picture, dude.
I might be making or read.
I look at this picture before I go to bed every night.
You do?
Just to remind myself of where I'm at.
Really?
Two.
Third place?
Two.
Yo.
Like, what's up?
I picked this picture.
You did?
Yes.
And to your point, Chris, it's an iconic picture.
That's a lot of pride right there.
Yeah.
This is a Macon Kyle crossover, actually.
There you go.
That's an awesome picture, man.
Nice.
John Carlos.
Thank you.
John Carlos forgot his glove before the events.
That's why I was wearing Tommy's on his left hand.
Yep.
Known as the Black Power Salute.
If I win, I am an American, said Tommy Smith, not a Black American.
But if I did something bad, then they would say, I am a Negro.
We are black and we are proud of being Black.
Black America will understand what we did tonight.
Needless to say, caught a lot of fucking flak for doing this during the National Anthem.
but an example of a tremendous silent protest.
I can also, I can't imagine the fucking post for these guys.
No.
Because I saw some of it in this day and age, how bad was it then?
What about the Puma marketing placement?
Yeah, no.
Crazy.
And the third, all three of them, the third being Peter Norman, I think he was Australian.
They all wore human rights patches as well.
Yeah, I guess the guy Peter Norman was.
a good guy right is he the number two guy yeah yeah he was a good guy supposedly he was like
on the right side of what we got all right we got a photo of chris and kyle yelling at each other and
i believe 2013 bring the fucking fed ex i don't know who put that in making it's not me
it was facts like that shout out to will rogers the trainer exactly i know will too that's why that's kind of
why I threw it in there too.
That's a good flashback.
He helped me out during my, um, my ACL recovery throughout that whole process.
So good, shout out to Will for sure.
All right, we got Len Dawson rip in a heater.
That's a great one, dude.
And a beer.
There's a beer there.
Fresca.
It's actually a fresh guy, but, dude.
Oh, then Kyle.
Nice.
Guilty as charge.
Good research.
Yeah, it's Kyle.
Kyle and cowboy.
Yeah.
That's a great picture.
Also, that's awesome.
It wasn't just Len Dawson.
It was the 80s, like, the,
guys were smoking cools in the locker room, according to dad.
You know, like, it didn't stop.
Dad said they were in the tunnel at the Coliseum, and some of his teammates would be putting
cigarettes out on the wall, getting ready to run on the field.
That's crazy.
Amazing.
No different than having a dip in, right?
No, yeah, it's a lot different.
It's, you know, like, they weren't going a mile high in ripping heaters.
I wonder what the rules were in NFL lockerer.
Like, when we go to Denver, because it feels like you smoked a fucking American spirit
when you get a pick six in Denver and run to the end zone, and then you have to go play
defense again.
that happened to us? Not good.
Not good. Phil Mickelson, jumping
for joy on his first master's win.
That's a shitty submission, Reed.
Yeah, Reed. He's just golf.
Yeah, that was a shitty submission.
That jump is like the jump.
No, it's not.
The jump.
That jump? He's six edges off the ground.
Think of a jump picture. They think of that?
Do you remember in baseball?
I cannot believe what I just saw.
I remember the jump he was doing around first or second?
That's like akin to this being the jump.
Jack Murphy Stadium.
It's going to kill me.
In golf.
Murph.
Yeah.
This is the jump.
This is the jump.
I got to find another jump.
Classic.
We got Nolan Ryan with Robin Ventura in a headlock.
A multi-submission, I believe.
This is masculinity in a picture.
You want to boost your testosterone.
The Ryan Express was twice the age of young Robin.
That's what I'm saying, dude.
nuggy
come get this
nuggy who is it it's me
me and you
