I woke up the next day and had food poisoning.
And I remember I was chasing Patrick Mahomes.
And he kind of hit me.
He kind of hit me with like the L-A roll.
Yeah.
And I went to go cut with him to like run with him.
And right when I planted my foot, I took a step and I was like, if I turn, if I push off, something's coming out.
Welcome to the Greenlight podcast.
It is Bo Week and Bo brought a couple friends today.
We've got Vita Vey.
He's going to go in-depth on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
and give you one hell of a wild story about the Super Bowl in 2020
that he hadn't told anywhere else.
We didn't know it was coming.
We were just talking about Washington Husky's football and Baker Mayfield.
Then all of a sudden Vita Vaya is like,
hey, you remember that Super Bowl?
You want to hear something crazy?
Absolute blast, though, with Vita and Bo.
A great time.
And then we have another blast and a half
with Bo's favorite teammate on the pickleball court.
That's Scotty Miller, the former Bucks and Falcons wide receiver,
and NFL Bo Allen teammate, joins us to talk.
Him joining the Pittsburgh Steelers, Mike Tomlin,
playing with Russell Wilson and Justin Fields,
his excitement for the Steelers training camp,
and his favorite quarterback he's ever played with.
And then we get Nate in studio, Nate and Bo break down Minnesota,
why it's a great vacation destination year-round.
Nate updates Bo on a few of his fishing escapades in the last few weeks
and Bo pitches a movie sequel.
He wasn't here last week when we talked about movie sequels with the fellas.
Bo wanted to get in on the action.
Y'all please enjoy today's episode.
We'll be back on Friday with plenty more of Bo and his friends.
We'll see you then.
Hey, what's up?
This is Butter King, Bo Allen.
Chris is still in Montana.
So it's Bo Week.
I'm filling in for my boy.
Back up, Bo.
You never know when you're going to get the call.
So joined here by Cowboy and Dr. Fax, and then we have some lovely guests for you today.
You know what?
When you're retired, you kind of live the dream in mid-July and August.
It's a beautiful month while your boys who are still playing are getting ready for camp.
So I want to hit up these guys and see how they're preparing for camp, what they're looking forward to in the upcoming season.
Two former Bucks teammates in mine that I'm good friends with Vita Vaya, a massive monumental noseguard who's been playing really well for the Bucks.
And then Scotty Miller recently signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers, good buddy of mine.
Actually, one of my favorite pickleball partners as well.
And then we'll chop it up with Cowboy and Dr. Fax at the end of the episode, Bo Week, baby, the Butter King, coming at you.
All right, welcome back.
Greenlight Pot hosted by the Butter King.
And I guess I've been dethroned because the Butter King five is joining us today.
The Butter King V.
The Butter King V.
Yeah, sometimes in the NFL, you get your jobs filling by someone younger, more athletic,
larger, stronger, and faster than you.
I guess that happens in the media world, too.
Ain't that right, Vee?
Yeah, sometimes, sometimes, you know, it just happens.
It's tough.
It's got to hang in there.
You just got to roll with the punches.
Well, let me gas you up for two seconds.
I'm joined by one of my favorite teammates, Vita Vaya, a giant motherfucker.
Entering year seven.
That's kind of crazy, V.
Super Bowl champion, 12th, over.
overall pick out of Washington in 2018, which was my first year at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
when I looked after a young Vita.
Also, a standout running back in high school, Vita, back when you were young and spry and athletic.
Yeah, back in the golden days.
Back in the golden days.
Well, thanks for joining us, man.
Welcome back on.
I know you've been on Greenlight before.
Frequent guest.
Yeah, I appreciate you guys having me.
So what's the latest?
I haven't talked to in a minute.
What you've been up to?
I haven't been up too much
I've been
I just got back to Tampa
yesterday I've been in Oregon
past couple weeks
just training out there
but
shell shock I just got back from a walk
trying to get used to his heat
hey good luck man
I don't know if you can get used to it
you never get used to it
how are you feeling I so I just had Scotty Miller on
was talking to him about
what it's like prepping for camp
as a wide receiver.
Obviously, I was in noseguard as well.
What's it like, you know, because I was with you,
when you're a younger player, like I mentioned,
what's it like, you know, entering year seven,
which is fucking crazy to think about.
How have you kind of changed the way you're prepping for camp
later in your career?
Right now, I think I took a bigger step this year going out,
actually relocating where I was training this all season
and heading out to Oregon.
I think that was a big thing for me
because I was,
I think the one thing about Tampa, I love it here, and I think I just got too comfortable being out here.
Obviously, I got my own house here and been here for, like you said, seven years, going on seven years.
So I've just gotten a lot, really comfortable here.
I think I need to change the scenery and just kind of grow up in my own sense and try something new.
and that's what I did.
I think it helped me out a lot.
My body feels good right now.
It's the best it's going to feel all year, V.
The best is going to feel all year,
you know that.
Definitely.
So who are you training up with in Seattle?
A guy named Keith Amelio and Domiton Coo trains out there with him.
You're going to get Sudan retire?
I don't know.
You never know that guy.
Seriously.
I have breaking news here on that.
the Greenlight podcast. You heard it from V from Vita. Sue might unretire. Thanks for giving us that
Scoop, V. Appreciate that, brother. You never know. Well, sounds good, man. I'm glad you had a good,
a good summer because, you know, shit's about to get real quick here. When do you guys report?
We report next week on Tuesday. I think there's the 23rd. There you go. Getting ready for that
conditioning test. What do you guys got this year? You know? What's AP?
cooked up for y'all i think it's the same from the past three years cut 30s so 30 yards and back oh yeah see
that's that's what up dude the thing that drives me crazy i can't remember if we did this your rookie year or not
back we did the beep test the beep test what the momentary beep test yeah bro we did that like and i remember
like that summer i was like yeah my first season in tamp i'm gonna train out the heat so me and yo murphy
we went to Skyway in Tampa at 2 p.m.
Because that's when our practices were.
And I was doing this beep test.
I was like,
what the fuck am I doing as a noseguard doing this beep test that we used to do in gym class
and that they do for soccer players?
The funny thing is,
like you could prepare for it all you want.
It just gets harder because like the gym and all the coaches are watching you.
And you're like,
they're probably not looking at you.
But in the back of your head,
you're like,
they're definitely watching me.
I got to go on this.
Yeah, and then you walk up and you try to look around to see if the cameras are rolling if they're recording it, you know?
If they're recording it, then you're trying to like hold your breath, kind of make it seem like you're not breathing off.
You're not fucking dying.
Exactly, bro.
Oh, man, I can't like, that's one thing.
The anxiety before camp, when my buddies sent me a picture, like, dude, I've been retired.
I'm, I'm chilling, but I still get anxious this time you're going to get ready for camp.
Send me a photo of the Eagles training facility, NovaCare with like all the advertisements up and the tents, you know, which means can't.
And I swear, dude, I just instantly started sweating.
I just came from the facility and seeing them setting up the field for the fans and stuff.
And then we got an ice box now.
Oh.
It's like a come up.
It's like an AC box where they let you go in the middle of practice, try to cool down.
Yeah, you just spend all day in there.
You're just chilling in there.
Yeah.
I can't remember.
I was telling someone who just signed in Tampa.
I was training with him a little bit this offseason.
And I said, I was like, yo, man.
And you'll see every day guys will walk right out the facility.
You'll see their heads turn right away to find that big-ass flag, the giant bucks flag.
And if that thing isn't moving, you know you're in for a long day.
Yeah, definitely.
If that flag is stuck to the pole, it's going to be spicy.
Yeah, you just know there's no breeze.
And it's going to be 95% humidity.
And you're going to be shotguning gatorade beers on the sideline like what Vita does.
I saw that video dude
that was fucking great
I needed that that brought me back to life
dude the Gatorade cans
they just hit different it's true
different off the ice
yeah I've never seen those like available for retail
yeah it's weird I wonder where the
the bucks get it from
you got to hit up a Gatorade rep
they can ship me out like a couple cases of those
just so I can feel like I'm still playing
I need that
All right, Via, I want to talk some really specific football stuff with you.
Obviously, the season hasn't started yet.
I live in Tampa, too, a little bit of a Bucks fan, you know.
I love Casey Rogers.
I love Todd Bowles.
I love that defense.
I had a really good time playing in that defense in 2019 with you.
We had a good room.
A little more fun in 2019 than 2018.
But I got to tell you the story.
I don't know if I've ever told you this.
Obviously, I was with the Eagles.
We won the Super Bowl, which was in 2018.
and I signed in free agency of the bucks.
I signed a good deal, like a starting noseguard, you know, contract.
I'm like, fuck yeah.
Like, a little bit of a backup role in Philly.
Like, finally got my time to shine.
And it was like Memorial weekend when the draft was that year.
I remember I got on a flight to come up to Minnesota where I am right now.
And I'm like, just loosely following along the draft, you know, didn't buy the Wi-Fi on the plane.
I was like, I'm good.
I remember I get off the plane.
I get service.
It's like, yeah, the Bucks drafted this giant noseguard out of Washington, 12th overall.
I remember just being like, what the fuck?
And watching all your highlights and be like, I'm fucked.
Like, I'm not even going to play.
Went straight to the airport bar and got a beer.
I was just like just thinking about my life, like a sad sack of shit,
drinking a beer at the airport alone because they drafted you.
So appreciate that.
I remember just thinking myself, well, yeah, cool.
I'm going to be there for like fucking get like five snaps a game while they play this rookie.
I remember that you still showed me love though.
My rookie, I remember I got, I had a bad practice.
And then I think Buck was just like.
had a field day on me because I was just messed I had like mental layers I didn't know the playbook
I was like getting reached and then I was getting yelled at meetings and then next you know he came
I remember you came up to me in the locker room you just like he came up to me and you were like
take with a grain of salt and I was like appreciate that no dude I'll never forget is like he
buck this is brenson buckner I think he's still with the jags his d-line coach in 20
team for us with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Let's just be honest.
We were not that good defensively that year.
Our D-Coroner got fired like four games in.
Mike Smith, a little bit of a tough year for the boys.
We were kind of banged up.
I had like a foot injury I was dealing with.
You had some with your calf where you missed a lot of camp.
Yeah.
And our D-line room was kind of miserable.
And Buck was like he had some, you know, like a lot of older coaches will do,
especially guys that played where they like try to break rookies in, you know?
Yeah.
Especially like, I don't know if you felt that way, but as a vet, that's kind of how I was
looking at it.
where like you're a first round pick.
Like he wanted to let you know,
like you're not going to come in and get it easy.
Like he was definitely hard on you.
And I'm sure you've seen that with guys.
But like he would make you go out to practice like an hour early.
And I remember your ass would come to meetings,
tape,
spat it up.
And then right after meetings would break.
Like usually you get like,
you know,
45 minutes or whatever.
I'll go out there. Because we practice after lunch.
We had lunch.
So then like I had to eat lunch like fast or in the room.
And then I would do.
the whole practice before practice.
You do all the individual stuff, like twice.
I think having that really, like,
help me, like, grow into, I think the player I am today
as such a young age in the league coming into that
because I feel like, I think, at least for me,
I all know about every other first-round rookie
that comes in, like, having a different mindset.
Like, I always say it was like a roller coaster ride.
Like, high school, you reach the top
and you go get a scholarship to a D1, then you get there,
then you're at the bottom again.
And then you reach your way to the top again in college,
and then you get drafted, and you come in as a rookie,
you're back at the bottom.
You got to earn it again, man.
Yeah, you definitely got to earn it again.
So I think for me, when I came in, I was just like, dang,
I'm made the NFL.
My mind says, like, I made it.
I got, you know, I know how to play football.
Buck was like, surprise, motherfucker.
At the whole playbook, I think it was different because in college,
we were really given the leeway to do what we wanted in college.
So when we came here and then trying to learn all the plays was like a learning curve for me.
I'll never forget.
Like, when you were going out to practice early,
I remember like me and Will Goldston, who's like another vet, like he's like a vet vet
now, you know what I mean?
Yeah.
But I remember looking at you in the meeting room all taped and spat out, like rushing your ass out to get out to practice,
It was like 45 minutes early.
I was like, I'm not going to let this dude do this shit alone.
And so like we got our D line.
Like a bunch of the bunch of us went out there and like worked on shit with you.
Like we worked on stuff that we had to work on like my ease, my get off.
And I feel like that was kind of a little bit of a bonding moment for that room.
Because even it's funny, man, like you've been, I'm sure you, you've kind of experienced this too.
But like sometimes the years where like you perform the worst as a team, it like almost brings your D line room together like your individual group room together.
Because like that's all you have.
Like everyone's miserable.
All you got is the boys in the room, you know.
I think that did bring us all together because the next year,
the only new person they brought in because Gerald went to the Panthers.
Yep.
And then they brought in Sue.
So Sue is really the only new person.
So I think that year.
But I guess Carl was an outside linebacker.
No, he was there.
He was there.
He came in like after camp.
Yep.
But then I think having that just going through like the ups and downs with that group,
the core guys in that group.
just helped us out the next year because the next year we got we finished number one and
rush defense yeah and that's obviously a huge emphasis for Casey Casey Rogers one of my favorite
D-line coaches I've ever had ran into him in Tampa a couple weeks ago me and Vita were joking
about that uh was out of dinner you know it was a fun time it was fun to see Casey so caught up
with him a little bit but yeah stopping the run was a huge emphasis for that I know you guys
finished I think fifth in um run defense like
year, which is very impressive.
But, dude, like you said, man, it's so nice to have guys, you know, kind of like that
continuity in the D-Line room.
And I feel like you guys have a lot of guys coming back, right?
Like, you signed, you re-signed Greg Gaines, who's like one of my fucking favorite
dudes ever.
You're one of your, your college teammate.
Will is back.
And then, like, Collaja Cancy, who's a young buck.
Like, how's, how's he been as a rookie?
You kind of feel like what I was going through a little bit when I was, when I was trying to
fucking, you know, bring you along a little bit.
Is that, is that the role you've undertaken with, uh,
Collijah can see.
Yeah, that's what I felt like, especially with, so the year before, they drafted Coliza.
We drafted another D-Tackle.
He was the first pick in the second round.
So it was more like that with him, too.
Was that Logan Hall?
Logan Hall.
Yep.
With Logan Hall.
When Collijah came in, he was like, it was surprising how much he knew and how fast he
got the playbook.
So it was more surprising.
So he was actually coached by my defensive line coach at Wisconsin, Charlie Parch.
He had Coliza at Pitt, which was kind of interesting, but sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt you there, V.
No, no worse.
It was cool to see a rookie come in and to take on, especially you know the Bucks playbook and to take on their playbook and understand it or and get it down the plays as quick as he did.
And I think that was cool seeing him as a rookie.
So like for me, it made my job easier as a vet to try to help him guide him throughout the way, just like explaining him like how the NFL works.
and how, like, to pick up tendencies from, like, stuff you taught me to pick up tendencies from
O-line and stuff like that and writing it down because you never know we might play them again
next year or they might go to another team.
Keeping your ears open and trying to listen to all the calls that the O-line makes,
especially if they have young, you know, rookie centers and guards and stuff.
They're always talking to each other.
God, I love the rookie O-Line room.
Gotta love that because they tell them everything that's to do.
B-5-4, B-5-4.
It's like, okay, cool, they're running a school.
It was funny.
We played the Ravens a few years ago.
And we were in, I forgot.
I think we were in the bear front.
I think it was Bear Saw 1.
I don't know if you remember that.
Oh, yeah.
Bear Saw 1.
And I was out there.
And the old line, they all came out heavy.
Like, they all came out three-point stances.
I was, all right, it's a run.
So I got in my stands, and my two-gap stands,
I'll head up on a zero.
The next to you know, I hear the rookie center go,
5-0, 5-0.
Oh, like, oh, shit.
Let me change up the stance real quick.
Change up the stance.
And it worked out because it was like, it's like the game slowed down that I actually got a second.
Hey, hey, well, I'm going to find that clip.
I'm going to do a little film review after this breakdown and just gas you up, Vita.
But no, I mean, there is so much that goes into playing like Noseguard, playing D-Line.
I feel like a lot of people don't realize it's, listen, don't get me wrong.
Like, you can get away being, you know, maybe not the smartest football player as a noseguard,
but you're so close to the ball that if you can pick up anything like that pre-snap,
like where the center sliding, you know, any idea, even if it's run past.
Like, if he points at something, like, he's probably going to be passed.
That's the one thing I love about Casey is that going on year six with him as my D-Line coach.
It's just like picking up new things that he's teaching on and just like getting the grasp of that
because it's like it slows the game down for me and just going out there.
Like I remember one game, the COVID year,
play Chicago, and then I saw the formation, the receiver motion, receiver motion. I was on the
back side. Receiver motioned in. He was like, he motioned into a cut split. And I remember Casey
in the meeting, like in the middle of the play, I was lined up. I remember Casey, you know how
Casey is. Casey is like, when the receiver comes over here, cut split, he said, the backside guard
is going to cut you. And I was in, I was with the backside two eye. And he went, I was like, all right,
this cup block's coming.
I believe it.
And they came and I got TFL.
You're starting to play like a white nose guard, Vita.
Yeah, Casey.
Yeah, Casey.
I love it.
No, but you talk about Casey in that defense a little bit.
Bro, one of the things that I love about that defense is like,
you never know what they're going to ask you to do,
especially like you.
You're, you know, 350-pound massive noseguard.
You can two-gap.
They ask you to blitz lot.
Bro, I see you out there on the edge.
You're rushing on the edge, too, which I love to see.
Dropping into cover.
average okay let's talk about that real quick like they never know you never really know like they're
they are not afraid to do anything with the deline remember in london remember in london
you had that boy oh god that was so good so in london we played uh the panthers in london shit in
2019 and i had christian mcalfrey on a wheel route man and i did it know like i'm t like
devon white's behind me give me like there's like one specific call and i'm tapping it off and i like
looking back from like oh fuck and i just took off i didn't realize that they didn't have
anyone over on the other side so like it's funny because they tell you like they tell you the cloud
corner is supposed to be there to help you and you're over there like you're not even thinking
about the cloud corner you're thinking about or i got to get to them sprint vita i was sprinting
i believe that belongs to mr gilmar's like please don't fucking throw this please don't throw this
please don't throw this that was so funny watching that was so funny i'm gonna make a highlight
a highlight real, just Vita V-Vay dropping into coverage.
We're going to plug that on butter breakdowns.
Oh, man.
But no, Vee, this is why I love having you on, man.
It's fun to chop it up, talk about old things.
I want to talk, like, really specific D-Line play,
because I really feel like people don't appreciate, you know,
what we're asked to do as noseguards.
I think, you know, in the 90s and the early 2000s,
there was such an emphasis on running the ball and stopping the run,
like, you know, Tony Saraguse, like these Vince Wilfork,
these old-school nose guards that were having 20 tackles a game.
and now it's so different.
So I love, you know, seeing you play because, like I said,
you're asked to do so many different things.
Like, you, dude, you had six and a half sacks in 2022.
You had five and a half last year.
You're doing the lawnmower celebrations.
You're doing the swim and the crawl celebrations.
Like, even though you're a noseguard, like,
you're truly a pass rushing defensive lineman as well.
So, I mean, you have to love that, right?
That's one of things I respect about your game, man.
It's like, you're a well-rounded defensive lineman, brother.
I appreciate that.
Like, come on.
What's the next, what's the next?
Butter King v.
sax celebration
that we can look forward to
to in 2020.
You got anything lined up for us?
I got to think of a new one.
I'm still in the works.
It's like,
it's funny because you know
everybody,
oh,
you always talk about them.
It was funny.
Like, you see like the random,
the random viral dances
that go viral on Instagram.
Then you're like,
I'm going to do this.
Hey, this one, bro.
You got to do this shit.
That's a TikTok shit.
Okay, this is what I want to know,
V.
You've been, like, you play, like in that, you know,
it is in the N.C. South, you play against a lot of the same people over and over again.
I have a lot of respect for, trying to think, like, Eric McCoy, that's Center for the Saints,
you know, or like when I was in Philly, I played against Zach Martin two times a year in Dallas,
and, like, he's a great offensive lineman.
Who's an offensive lineman?
Like, hardest guard or center player, a guy that you've lined up against a number of times,
you're like, man, I really respect this guy's game.
You know you got to bring it that week.
I mean, you mentioned Zach Martin.
He was always a battle.
I think I always did.
I want to say I always did better versus the run against him.
But like in the past rush, it was like he always knew.
It was like he was like a minor reader.
He knew what move I was going to do, which was like a challenging for me to go on against him in the past game.
It was just like I couldn't figure out a move to like try to beat them.
Every time I try to bull rush in the center or sliding this way, so it didn't really work.
And then if I got him one-on-one, he knew, like, a hump was coming and he was sitting on it.
So just, like, all my moves that I had prepared, going against him was definitely, he definitely knew was coming.
So that was tricky for me going against that.
He's a great player, man.
I think, I don't know.
I want to say Jensen was probably one of the best centers that everyone against.
Yeah.
I think he, that was, he molded me to become a good player as well because, you know,
we had battles going against him and, in practice.
Every day, man.
So we were going back and forth.
So I think going against him helped me become a better noseguard as well.
Yeah.
I mean, that's really where you get all your work done.
That's how it was with me and Kelsey in Philly.
Obviously, being Jensen and Tampa is same thing.
You know that.
But like, he's a motherfucker to play, man.
He's like, he's nasty practice too.
And sometimes, like, my guy, it's Thursday game week.
Well, like, well, sometimes he, like, messes with your head because he'll take a playoff.
Yep.
And, like, when you least expect it, and, like, you, you like, knock him back and then make a tackle.
And then the next play, he gives you all he got.
And you're like, gosh.
No, he's a good player, man.
And he just retired.
So shout out to Jensen for retiring, man.
It's a great career.
I got a couple of the random.
questions for you here Bita.
First of all, like, dude, I'm in Minnesota right now.
I grew up in Minnesota, a big hockey fan.
You fucked up your tooth.
Why did you get it fixed?
You've knocked your tooth out during the game, which is one of the funniest clips I've
ever seen.
If you're a hockey guy, you just let that shit roll.
Why did you get it fixed?
I couldn't.
If the nerve was exposed.
It chipped.
It was this tooth.
The nerve got exposed.
And then like after the, after the game, I went.
in to drink some water.
It was like an ice cold water straight out the fridge and it just hit me.
This is not right.
And then I went out to, I went to the dentist next day.
That was a funny story because I was at the team dentist office and I was just sitting
there waiting in the wait room.
And then Steve McClendon, he was a vet that year.
He called me and he was like, I got another dentist for you.
He said if you go to him, he'll do my teeth for free.
sorry for it.
I was like, all right, I literally walked out.
I literally walked out of the team.
Bobby set this appointment up for me.
I literally walked out of the dentist's office
and just drove straight to the other guy.
I didn't even tell the receptionist that I was leaving.
I just got in the car left.
You got a hook up your boy.
They were probably waiting for me.
But that was a funny story
because I drove to the other guy.
And it was like, it was already too late
because I left.
And I was gone for like 10 minutes already.
And then next you know, like, I called up Steve and I was like, send me his address.
He sent me his address.
It was like an hour away.
You're just like, fuck.
I was like, it's already too late.
I'm already down.
I'm already on the freeway.
I might as well just go check it out.
Went there, did it.
They pulled it out.
Put a cap over it and just, I actually got to go back because it's, uh, it got infected.
So the dentist.
try to inject something in there to try to make the nerve shrink.
But I guess it did it.
I got to knock that shit out again.
Might as well.
Just leave it out.
Fuck it.
You're root canal.
Just leave it.
Oh, God.
How do you feel about the Washington Huskies joining the illustrious Big Ten?
I feel like we come to dominate.
Oh, get the fun.
You guys are lucky because you don't have the badgers on the schedule this year.
Oh, yeah.
We would have to walk in.
Get the fuck out.
out of here. We, you don't know what Camp Randall's like, man, you know? Camp Randall's a great.
It's a tough place to play. We got Bama. Wisconsin has Bama coming in in like mid-September.
And, uh, I think we're about to run these old Pac-12, Pac-10 teams, man. You guys don't know
what's coming. I don't know. I think, I think we're going to put up a good fight.
Um, I think, I don't know. They should have kept the, the Pack-12, obviously, my Pac-12 guy.
Yeah.
I don't think there's another conference like the Pact 12.
See how you fare in the Big Ten, brother.
I think the Pact 12 was the best conference out there.
I think a lot of people argue with that.
No, I think a lot of people know.
Deep down, everybody knows.
Like, everybody in the Big Ten were like,
dang, we shouldn't want to the Pact 12 instead of them coming to us.
How do you feel about watching,
the Huskies in the championship this year, man.
That was fun.
That was fun.
I was actually, we were going in the playoffs,
so we had some time off.
So I actually got to go to that game.
And then obviously didn't come out how we wanted to do.
But it turned out to a good trip down in Houston
and being able to see the dogs, the real you dub.
The real U-Dove and the Natty.
But it's all good.
I think it was like a conspiracy came out.
They were like, oh, yeah.
We got to let Michigan win.
Yeah, that's definitely what it was.
That's what I heard.
It was like, I got the script.
Yeah, you got the script?
Got the script.
All right.
Well, let me know what the script is for college football next year because now I'm retired.
I got to do some gambling, man.
I'm not doing well
I'll tell you that
I made more money playing talk against you in the locker room
but hey dude you guys got fucking Washington
University South down in Tampa you got
we got that UW pipeline over here
yeah you got Joe Tryon you got my boy Greg Gaines
who is literally just a young Bo Allen
Kate Otten and then you drafted what
McMillan right
McMillard round yeah
How's that like walk around the locker
From all these huskies
It's crazy
To see like
Even before like
It was funny because me and Greg
Were roommates in college
Yeah
And then even the huskies that came through
While my time here was crazy
To see like a bunch of guys from UW
That I play would come through here
It's crazy but
It is pretty cool to see like
Those guys that still have that relationship
Especially with Greg
Yeah
It's funny seeing them around
around like, did you see him?
Like, dude, you never changed.
Yeah.
It's the same.
That guy like Greg Gates is never going to change, man.
Never going to change.
But, yeah, it's pretty, it's pretty cool.
I think there's six of us down.
Yeah.
So that's.
Oh, you got another rookie too, right?
Devin, Codin.
Yeah.
That's fun, man.
It's always fun to be with your boys in college.
I mean, you guys have some good, some good huskies in the NFL now, man.
You got Pennix and the Falcons, Romodonze.
He's fucking sick.
Yeah.
McMillan and all sorts of stuff.
So, dude, I mean,
I think you guys are going to get running,
running the fucking Big Ten Buzz sub,
but we'll see how that ends up going.
I think we're just going to hit the ground rolling,
coming in.
I just seen someone sent me like a DM,
a big Penn State fan,
sent me a DM, was like,
oh, yeah, we're playing you the whiteout game.
They're lucky.
They're lucky they're not coming to you.
you do because our stadium is louder.
Dude, I've heard Husky Stadium is sick.
You got the lake right in the background.
Actually, Steve Belichick came on Greenlight Pod with Chris.
She had in the office scene a couple months ago.
And right in the background, just the mountains.
Like you can see Mount Rainier.
You can see Lake Washington.
Like, dude, it looks beautiful, man.
I didn't realize it was loud like that, too.
But it looks like.
It looks glorious.
Yeah, it is pretty loud.
It was always a benefit when we had to run the stadiums.
And then there was like a reward.
you just get to see the view.
We used to run the stadiums at Camp Randall,
and, like, we would just make, we'd be like,
if guys, guys would throw up,
if you had to throw up off the top,
and we just fucking get up to the top and just spew,
like right down out of, like, the street right there.
Breeze Terrace is so funny.
But let's talk a little bit about this upcoming season, man.
What's a goal for the season?
Like, you're a vet now, man.
How wild is that?
You're going into year seven.
It's crazy.
You ever just think back, you're like,
God damn.
How did this go by so fast?
Yeah, definitely.
I did think about it all the time.
It's just like I'm sitting here at year seven.
It's like where the time, where did the time go?
And just like walk it into the locker room.
Like obviously there's rookies and they have questions.
Oh, how was it back in the day?
And you start telling stories and you feel like it was just yesterday.
Yep.
Telling them the stories.
But it was funny because I told Will.
I was like, well, when I came into the league, you were year six.
Now you're 12.
Crazy.
You're 12 or 13, one of them.
And I was like, that's crazy.
Yeah, get ready for Will to show up with the shaved head, like week or like week to a camp that you just know.
Like Will would always come in one day, shaved head, mean mugging everybody.
You're like, all right.
Like, I'm not going to say a ton to you today, brother.
Like, you do you.
Will, we'll have a tradition where, like, if you missed a sack, he'll come back the next day.
his head shaved off.
And he did it himself because, like, if you sit behind him in meetings,
you'll see, like, spots that he is.
Well, he did not care.
Such a unique guy.
But what's a big goal for the season, man?
You got anything like you got your eyes set on or, you know, like,
you know how it is before camp starts, you got to kind of, you know,
mentally prepare, get ready for the grind of camp and then the season.
But, you know, you always kind of have one thing you want to work on,
one thing you want to try to improve or something,
a goal you want to try to achieve over the course of the season.
You got anything like that coming up for us in 2024?
I think my biggest goal, I think I've had,
I've had, it's been the same goal the past couple of years,
is to try to reach double digits and sacks.
I think that's my biggest goal.
I think it's attainable for me.
I think I just got to lock it in a little bit more,
especially just watching film like, dang, missing this play,
or there's a couple sacks that there's a couple of freebies that you missed.
Like if I didn't miss that sack or if I just was there a second quicker,
just trying to hone in on my pass rushing and watching film and stuff like that
and studying the playbook to make sure I could be able to achieve that.
I think it's right there.
I think I just got to take the next couple steps to get there.
Yeah, I feel you.
All right. So you guys, the books, man, you guys got Baker back?
What's it been like watching him kind of coming to his own in?
But he had a great year.
Just having Baker around.
I remember when he first came in, you know, just being a very down-the-earth type of guy.
You know, we went, we would go golfing and stuff with him.
And just being able to hang out with him and stuff like that, just is very dope.
But then seeing him on the playing field, we'll be playing.
then we'll go out there from one series,
and next you know,
the next time we're on the field,
it's second quarter already.
So we're like, damn,
if Baker and the offense could keep doing this,
we're going to be,
we're going to be, you know,
cooking with grease.
A little bit different than 2018
with the bucks with the 30 pegs.
You go to the sideline,
you only want to take your helmet off.
That was so funny.
That year, that year, I think that year,
see, that was,
2019.
That was 2019, yeah.
That's where a lot of people still don't give us enough credit for being number one
rush defense.
Yeah.
Having that many turnovers on offense.
Right.
And then us, we were, what was our record like six?
We were like five games that year.
In 2018, we won five.
I'll have, I'll have seven games.
I think we won seven or eight, yeah, in 2019.
But we were number one Russian defense and we had a bunch of turnover.
and teams would.
But like to only win seven games and to really think about it,
like all NFL games are come down to really,
most of them come down to one score games.
So if we're losing most of them,
teams are running the ball because they're already winning.
They're trying to run the clock.
And for us to attain that number one rush defense, I think.
Yeah, yeah.
Good shit.
All right.
I want to talk real quick.
about one of my favorite players I've ever played with Levanti David, man. Why doesn't he get more
credit? He's unbelievable. I don't know why. He should be getting way more credit for the type of
player he is and how long he's been doing it for at a consistent rate. I think he's going
in what year 13 or 14. Yeah. And even last year, I was on the sideline. And then remember
coach Wade? He came up to me. He came up to me and he was like,
what's he called?
I subbed out and he came up to me.
Levanti made a sick play.
And then he came up to me.
He was like, I just keep waiting for that guy to drop off,
but he never does.
Oh, he's unbelievable, man.
I think, I don't know.
The NFL needs to give him more credit.
I think, you know, obviously everybody that played with him
or on the team in the Bucks organization
knows what he means to the Bucks.
And, you know, what he's done here is pretty amazing for him
to, you know, have his career and still be able to do it at a high level that he's doing this
late in his career.
Yeah, man, he's a Hall of Famer in my mind.
No joke.
I will never do anything about Gassup, Levante, David.
Unbelievable dude, great player.
Like, it's so nice when you're a noseguard, you know, you have a linebacker like that
behind you who knows exactly where you got to be.
Probably knows a play that's coming.
And then just play so hard.
He's so smooth, too.
And, like, it's just, it helps you.
It helps you want to be better as a D-Liamender.
Like, I told you.
I told him when I first came in, I think when Casey then first came in, because my rookie, we were a 4-3.
And when Bowles came in with his defense, we were more like a 3-4-style type of defense.
I just told him, I was like, I'll take two.
I'll take the double team as long as you make the play.
I was like, I don't care.
Like, if you make the play, I remember countless of times, I just feel him just hitting the gap.
And I was just like, damn.
It's like kind of a bitter, it's kind of like a bittersweet moment because, like, you.
you feel like you have control over the,
over the center of the guard.
And you're like, all right, the ball's coming.
I'm about to make this tackle.
And I just feel like,
straight right past me and make the CFM.
Exactly.
I'm celebrating with him,
but in back of my head,
I was like,
that was my play.
Right.
All right.
So, dude,
you're like a fucking Super Bowl champion.
You played in playoff games.
How,
what was the atmosphere like when you guys played Detroit?
I think it was,
I mean,
I kind of like the way that team runs.
I like Dan Campbell.
I feel like they were really committed, like, running the ball with duo and with that offensive line.
What was that atmosphere like?
Playoff game in Detroit.
Yeah, it was definitely crazy, especially being in the dome.
Yeah.
Their fans were, like, packed out, and it was like, it got super loud in there.
So it was just, like, easy for them to carry the momentum on their side of the ball.
So it was definitely loud and just, it was crazy.
It was just like you were playing.
I wish I I wish we were playing in in Tampa right now.
Yeah, well, you guys had a good playoff win in Tampa 2020.
Motherfucking Super Bowl, my guy.
It's pretty sweet to win in your home stadium, you know.
Yeah, that was one for the books.
That was crazy.
You had to do it without me, man.
Damn.
You're killing me.
That was a fun as hell.
You would have been.
That was a good year.
I mean, I was out there celebrating with you after, remember that.
That offseason, I was like honorary Super Bowl winner.
Let's go.
Played for the Punks 2019.
That was so funny, though, because when we came in the Super Bowl week, you can see Raymond James from the practice field.
So you see them setting up for a Super Bowl.
You drive past it to and from going home to work or into the facility.
So you see it like the process happening.
So it's just like extra motivation because you see it all.
And then, like, it was funny.
The first day we got the game plan, like our first defensive meeting of Wednesday practice,
we got the game plan, and we were just like, we won already.
Like, Bowles made up a new defense, and we're just like, like, I even understood it.
I understood the coverage.
I was like, this is crazy.
Like, he made this defense just for us to win.
And it was like, we went back in the locker and the office guys.
I remember Shady, Shady came up to me.
He was like, what's the game plan?
We were telling them, and then he was like, we already won.
He's like, you don't have to know the game plan.
I think what we have is just, we already got it locked down.
I think we still were barely hitting our full stride that year as well.
And I think it showed in the Super Bowl,
because I think we didn't give up a touchdown.
Yeah, that's sweet.
And then Shaq and those dudes were murdering the Chisot Line on the edge.
It was fun of all right.
That was so funny.
I think because they had a lot of office to line out.
And I think that helped our cause as well.
But then it was so funny because we were like, we were already winning.
And like guys were making up games on like pass-risk games.
In the Super Bowl.
Like, Sue, if you look up Sue Sack, like that wasn't a game plan, a game that we ran.
So he was just like telling him Cam Gill, the rookie, he was like, are you going to do this before the play?
You tell him, do this, run out the field, and I'm going to come under.
And then we're going to do that.
And he got the sack.
I love that.
I'm going to pull that one up, man.
That's fucking awesome.
Sometimes those are the best games.
You feel it while the bolts are flying,
and you just know it's going to work.
The only shitty thing I had of the game was I had food poisoning that game.
Really?
So I was just like, I was hurt all.
I was hurt from week five.
I broke my ankle.
And the next of you know,
Sue, like, took me under his wing and was like,
let me use the chef.
and his PT guys were like giving me advice and stuff.
But I was eating healthy trying to make sure, like,
speed up the healing process for my recovery
because he put the thought process in my head to make it back.
He was like, you can make it back in the playoffs and do that.
So that was already set in stone for me in my head.
All right, like, it's attainable.
I'm going to make it back in the playoffs.
It was like almost we knew that we were going to win the Super Bowl that year.
So I was eating with his chef.
all year. He was making me breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day. And then next year,
you know, day before the game, we get to the hotel. And there's just like, the food they had
there, it was just like, it was crazy. You know, like, normally, normally when you go to the
team hotels, it's like the same. It's the same stuff every week. Same stuff every week. And then I just
walked in there, going on my way to meetings, and I just see, oh, damn, they got hell of shit.
You were crazy? I was like, I was just like, I'm just make a play.
I'm free.
At the team hotel, I think
Sue chef brought a salad or something.
I was like, I'm not, I was like,
I was like weighing my options.
I was like, damn, this food looks pretty gas.
And I was like, should I eat this or salad?
I was like, I'm going to probably have a couple bites
of this food they got here for us.
And I think it kind of hurt me in the long run
because I woke up the next day
and had food poisoning.
And I remember,
I was chasing Patrick Mahomes, and he kind of hit me.
He kind of hit me with, like, the L.A. roll.
Yeah.
And I went to go cut with him to, like, run with him.
And right when I planted my foot, I took a step, and I was like, if I turn, if I push off, something's coming out.
So I just stopped.
I just stopped.
I just stopped.
I was like, all right, I'm going to get shook.
I literally ran straight off the field.
And I said, Gaisy, I got to go.
to the bathroom.
In the fucking Super Bowl?
In the Super Bowl.
We're still on the field.
Still on the field.
I ran straight off the field.
I was like,
I got to go to the bathroom.
I got to find this fucking play,
dude.
Oh,
God.
You're like,
we're like,
we were,
I couldn't even really
celebrating the locker room
because everybody was in the locker room
celebrating.
I was on the toilet,
smoking my cigar.
Hey,
that's a whatever a it done super bowl feels amazing super bowl wind feels amazing whether you're in the locker
around the toilet man that is a fucking great story i can't believe you haven't told me that before i love
that it's like your jordan flu game man that was hilarious that's incredible
good time well thank you man i appreciate you coming on man it's been too long um you're the best bro
i can't believe year seven for you been fun watching develop from a little rookie who had to go out before
practice and hone your craft and now you're the one who's actually pulling up the film on your
iPad. You know what I mean? All right. This is the funniest thing ever. I forgot about this.
And Vita was signing off and I had to bring him back on to tell the story because it was like
one of the funniest moments pregame I've ever been a part of in V. Every time I hear this
fucking song now I think of you. Walk us through when you got the ox cord as a DJ before we
played Tennessee in 2019. We're going in there. I
took the early bus in, so like, barely anybody was in the locker room, so I got the iPad,
so I was on the Ox. But, like, when everybody, I like had it, it was like already predetermined,
like, I was going to do this. So I was like, all right, I would just hide the iPad and wait for
everybody to get in the locker room. And I think it's a, what's called, only time by Enya?
Only time by Edia, yeah. Yeah, so if you haven't heard it, look it up and listen to it. And it was so
funny because everybody's trying to get ready for the game.
And I'm over there on the ox and I put only time by Enya on repeat.
And everybody's looking for the iPad.
It's like, who the fuck is playing this?
But this bullshit on.
No, T-Mack, the running back coach came out and yelled in the locker.
I'm like, why the fuck is this song playing before the game?
And beat us.
You say right now because you just look over and smile.
And I was like, pro.
that was so funny and then I was like they were trying to give me to explain it and I was like
you never watched the hit man remember the movie hip man yeah killing everybody but like he's
listening to that song and then I would be like we went out and fucking lost that game we did we
should have won we uh they tried to run like a fake field goal yeah the long snapper or not
the long snap but the holder I think fumbled
Devin picked it up and ran it back to a touchdown.
And then the ball just didn't roll our way that game.
We ended up losing.
That's because we weren't right pregame, dude,
because you shitty DJ, kill the DJ.
Hey, every time I fucking hear that song, I think of you.
That was an incredible moment, man.
That was so funny.
That was good time.
I might have to bring it back this year.
Bring that shit back.
Have it play on third down.
We still listen to Roy Jones.
Roy Jones, Jr.
Dude, remember how weak the atmosphere was in Ray J?
This was before Tom Brady came down.
You guys won a Super Bowl.
It's like third down and we're all trying to get hype at Ray J on the field.
And it was like the weakest music.
It was like hauling oats playing.
And we're like, can we get something to get fucking going?
And so I had him put on Roy Jones Jr. can't be touched on third down.
Kind of a banger, dude.
Kind of a banger.
I mean, it's not only time by Enya.
Really, really get the people going.
I might to bring that up.
just let them know the third down bring that out bring that out only time everybody off but
who can say dude that's a fucking hilarious that's so cue the music cue it up all right v that's again
this is a minnesota goodbye man we had you on we had you off appreciate you coming on brother
hey sir hey y'all green light has official merch like this hat right here like the one on my head
This is dad hat.
Love this hat.
I'm not even a dad hat guy, but this thing fits great.
This hat right here fits great.
We've got hoodies.
We've got...
By the way, this hoodie's like super comfy.
I mean, it's like soft, plush.
It's not the type of hoodie that's going to get stiff with one wash.
And the shirts, too, because I'm a big comfort guy.
Okay, you got like this white shirt here.
You got the shirt with the logo, the Abbey Road looking logo.
with Dr. Fax smoking, presumably a blunt,
Kyle carrying Cowboy Reed,
making driveling a basketball,
which I've never seen him actually do,
and me carrying a football.
And then you've got the black shirt here too with the logo.
So stickers, hit the link in the description in the video,
below the video, actually,
and make sure to tag us on social media showing off your greenlight merch.
It's quality, quality threads here, okay?
Wouldn't do it any other way.
taking over green light for Chris while he's in Montana,
joined by one of my good buddies favorite teammates of all time on the pickleball court.
Also decent player on the bucks and a good teammate for that.
Scotty Miller, Scottie, how you doing, man?
Gang, gang, what's up, Bo?
How are we doing?
Scooter, I've missed you, man.
Miss you too, brother.
You're out there in the middle of nowhere in Minnesota, man.
Need you back down in Tampa.
Come up to Minneapolis sometime.
I know you're a Midwestern boy at heart.
How long does that house build?
What are you on year seven?
Yeah, once it's done, don't worry.
You won't be invited up.
Jenna and Brody can come up, though.
All right, let me gas you, Scotty, for two seconds.
Just, you know, kind of get the blood flowing so that I get the best interview out of you.
Scotty Miller, great wide receiver, six-round pick out of Bowling Green,
played with him in Tampa.
After your time in Tampa, Scotty, you went and played for the Falcons.
And now you are about to embark on a new journey up in Pittsburgh.
kind of the calm before the storm, Scotty.
How are you feeling?
Like, what do you've been doing on summer break?
Because, you know, everyone that doesn't know,
this kind of the period of time right after vet,
mandatory vet camp in like mid to late June,
and then you're off right around the 4th of July.
And then everyone usually reports, you know, like July 20th or so.
So you're kind of reporting next week, man.
How are you feeling?
Yeah, I feel good.
I mean, like you said, OTIAs are kind of a grind.
I don't know if people know that,
but I mean it's not easy as tough.
The days and the weeks aren't super long,
but you get after pretty good at practice,
so it's nice these six weeks or so to kind of recharge, reset.
I stay in Tampa in the offseason where I started my career.
Me and my wife bought a house here.
So we love it down here.
It's been nice just chilling with the family.
I had a son during the season last year, Brody, like he said.
So Ben Chinle with him, try to get out on the pickleball courts
so I can show you a thing or two.
But no, it's been great.
So I'm just, but now it's about that time, you know, six weeks ready to, ready to head out, get up there and get to work.
Yeah, I know.
Let's talk to pickleball real quick before we get into more of the football stuff.
You ran a 4-2-840 at your pro day.
Everyone always talks about that.
You're a fast guy.
How well does that translate on the pickleball courts?
Oh, good, really good.
It's actually probably more beneficial on the pickleball court than the football field because there's a football field.
There's a lot of guys that can run, you know, at that similar speed.
but pickleball court a lot of guys you know little like you a little washed up little older
they not have that same spring explosiveness in their steps so it really gives me the uh the advantage
out there well you might not know this scotie but i actually picked up a decent partner and it was able to get a
win i are the ceil pickleball champions i got a big belt and everything i'll send you the youtube
video congratulations man jake actually hit this sick behind the back shot in like a hands battle
at the net it was really cool i think i might i saw that on instagram i'll send that shit to you
I'll send you the video. Greenlight did a great job.
Yeah, we really put together some great content up there at Cile.
Yeah, man, thanks for the invite up there.
I needed a good partner for once, you know?
Someone that could actually get to balls on the court.
All right.
Let's talk some actual football, man.
You know, you said OTAs are a bit of a grind.
I've never played under Mike Tomlin, but I know that he has a ton of respect, you know, from players.
He's, I don't know him personally, but everything I've seen, like, players say great things about him as a players coach.
but also that he kind of walks that line of being a player's coach,
but also a little bit of an old school kind of hard ass.
I know you guys practiced really hard.
Like what have been your impressions so far from like OTAs
and being under a legendary coach like Mike Tomlin?
Yeah, no, just super fortunate to get to play under him for him.
I've only been with him for a couple months now,
so I haven't got the full experience with the season and everything yet,
but everything with Coach Mike T has been great so far, everything you said.
He's just the kind of mentality that he brings everything.
day, start every day with the team meeting, and just kind of lays out the groundwork of what
the day is going to look like, what he expects out of us. And then energy is just always super high.
So just a blessing you get to play for him. You're going to work hard, but that's what you want as a
player. And that's why he's had so much success. I don't think he's ever had a losing season
with the Steelers. So just really excited to get to camp. I know camp's a whole different animal.
I know I talked about OTEs is tough, but I know especially in Pittsburgh, they go, we're going
up to La Trobe. You know, you're just really excited to get to. You know, you're
the college and the dorms.
Yeah.
It's going to be a grind, but that's kind of what you look forward to.
I want to ask you about that because that's a little bit different, Scotty.
I feel like, you know, that's an old school approach to training camp.
I feel like he's one of the few, that's one of the few organizations that's traveled
at camp.
You go and you're kind of just sequestered in this area with the team.
What do you, is that like two, three weeks?
Like, do you have a good idea of what that's like as a new player?
I don't entirely.
I mean, they send out a schedule so you can kind of figure it out as you go and talk to some guys
that have been on the team for a while,
but it's one of those things you just learn as it goes.
You're out there until they tell you you can leave.
You're kind of forced to,
you have no option but to get to know your teammates
and really bond with the guys.
Because, you know, what else are you going to do in Latoural, Pennsylvania?
Yeah, what are you going to do, man?
Play some cards.
You bring up your PC to play some video games, what you got?
The new NCAA is coming out.
I don't know.
I actually wanted to hit that later in the interview here,
but you're going to play that at all?
I might. I mean, I really am looking forward to coming out, but I'm one of those guys where once camp gets going, though, it's hard for me to like, you get back to the, in the dorms in this case at about 8 o'clock. And it's tough for me to turn on the game and get going. Because once I start gaming, I'm like in that mode, locked in trying to win or whatever I'm doing. And then it's 1 a.m. And you got practice at 6.
Exactly. This is a big mistake. We'll see what happens. Okay, I want to ask you, stand on the training camp topic.
I know you probably got the Sunday scaries a little bit with camp coming up.
You just get that, you know, that anticipation, kind of that feeling.
We're like, all right, it's time to fucking go.
But it's so different.
Like, obviously, we get along well and, you know, football players,
but it's two very different positions.
I was a fucking early down run stuffing noseguard.
You're a burning wide receiver runs a 4-240.
What is, what is camp like for you?
Because I can't even imagine what it's like to be a wide receiver in the NFL.
Yeah, I think that's something that makes football, like, the best sport ever,
is that you can have a guy like you and a guy like me that are both playing the same sport,
but yet we're living in two entirely different worlds.
I mean, how physical your game is and how really not physical my game is,
it can be when you're getting in there blocking and stuff like that.
But it's also like people talk about practicing with pads, practicing with no pads.
For a receiver, really doesn't make much of a difference.
Yeah.
Because it's more of the miles on your body, especially for me.
I'm usually running a lot of deep routes.
So the hardest thing for me is just,
soft tissue injuries and staying healthy as far as all that goes.
So it's really just staying on top of my body in that regard.
So when you're talking about four or five days in a row and you've got to hit these top
speeds of 22 miles an hour every single day or else you're not going to be performing
at a high level, that's sort of the biggest challenge for me.
Yeah, no, I mean, it's funny you say that because for me, as an interior, as a noseguard,
there's no difference in no pads versus paths because I still am like lining up right over the
ball.
I'm still going to have blocked with the same blocking schemes.
like sometimes your notepads are like well shit man like this it doesn't make a fucking
difference you know but it's it's funny like you know you i've if i have a rep if i had a rep
when i was playing where i wasn't contacted it was like bizarre and i'm sure it's different for you
because it's just so much it's just so much more running you know it's it's you're sprinting
nonstop or for me it's more joint injuries you know not the soft tissue stuff that you're saying
man so it's such an interesting perspective um all right moving on here i want to talk about you know
going to a new team because shit, when we were together, you were a young buck down in Tampa,
but now you're on your third team.
And I played for, you know, three different teams.
I was with three different teams.
I played for two different teams.
Patriots legend, baby, never took a single snap.
Fucking love it.
Go, Pat.
But just kind of what's it like?
Like, talking about what it's like to, you kind of wake up one day, you're like,
oh, shit, I'm on my third team.
I'm in your, I'm in my six year.
Like, I'm a vet now.
Is that kind of what feels?
No, yeah, it's crazy.
I mean, especially for me because the NFL was never something like I knew I was for sure going to make it.
Like I was a super under recruited kid coming out of high school.
You know, growing up, I'm like, man, it's my dream to start on my high school team, a big high school in Illinois.
And then all of a sudden just, you know, end up going to Bowling Green is my only FBS offer, playing while there, getting drafted.
Everything's just been so crazy.
Getting to play with Tom, winning a Super Bowl.
Everything's kind of happened so fast and so crazy.
And I still feel like one of the younger guys, but, you know, going into years.
six is wild third team having a kid now it's just like a lot of different
whole different life comes out your quick scooter oh it does yeah now I can't come home and
just land the couch anymore and hop on uh fortnight so uh well you can but you probably should
you can but yeah no the white probably won't be too happy but uh but yeah no so it's cool
it's a lot different i would say going into these new environments um you got to meet a whole
bunch of new people. And the living situation is probably the hardest part that I don't think a lot
of people understand is moving out there, trying to figure out where to live in a new city.
For my case, only being on one year deal last year, one year deal this year, it's kind of hard
to find a spot. You don't want to buy furniture because you have your place back. I have my
place in Tampa. So I'm just figuring all the logistics like that getting the family up here.
But at the end of the day, you're, you know, you're living out your dream and there's nothing else
I'd rather than doing. So exactly. No, the thing that I always kind of think about is you go to
these different teams, you kind of pick up, you know, stuff from different schemes, different players,
and you bring it along to your next stop. And you were fortunate, like you said, you mentioned Tom,
you know, you're with Arthur Smith again, right, in Pittsburgh now, and you're with him in Atlanta.
So that's, that's kind of a familiar face. But like what's, I feel like we had such a good group of
wide receivers, you know, my time of the bucks, guys like Mike, Mike Evans, Chris Godwin,
Cambrate, you know, that you're able to like learn from. Like, what's some stuff that you learn from,
you know, a relationship with like Tom Brady.
I know that's your guy.
And then like Chris Godwin, Mike Evans,
like what's some stuff you learned from them that you've kind of picked,
you know, picked up and moved on and carried with you to your other stops?
Yeah, no.
I mean, Cambrate's one guy.
I probably tried to stay away from.
The way he went about his business was something, you know,
I didn't really want to emulate.
But those other guys like Chris and Mike, like he said,
I was just so fortunate when I got drafted to have those two in the room.
And just to see how they work, I think they're two of the best superstars as far as coming to work every day, you know, not saying anything, just working super hard.
And obviously, they're insane talents.
So it was just very different players, too, I feel like, you know.
Different players and it's super different from me as well.
Yeah.
But you also pick up on so many of the little things that they do on an everyday basis.
So it was awesome to play with them.
Also, A.B. was with us.
Julio was with us.
Cole Bezzi was one of my favorite.
Players growing up, I was a Cowboys fan.
He was with us for a couple weeks.
So it was just like a ridiculous amount of receivers that have just done so much in the NFL,
which in one aspect made it difficult to get on the field.
And they're just like, at points, it wasn't a ton of continuity.
But also to get to learn and see how all these guys were so great,
definitely has helped me in my career just becoming the best player I could be.
Yeah, that's pretty dope to win a Super Bowl with Tom Brady also, huh?
Yeah.
All you fuckers had to go win that.
one without me. I went to New England,
2020, was on
IR, rehab. Hearing you guys win a Super Bowl,
I was like, come on, man.
Missed out, brother. I missed out, dude.
All right, let's talk a little bit more about
Pittsburgh. I think that's a place
where I really would have loved to play.
I've played at Heinzfield or
what's it called these days, Acresher
Stadium. A number of times, it's a really fun place
to play. Renegade comes on. Have you played
there before? I've played there. I've played there.
think just one time. Okay.
And it's, it was unbelievable atmosphere at the time I was there.
So I'm excited to get to play there every week.
I mean, you know I'm a little bit of an Eagles home or who's the better fan base,
Philadelphia Eagles or Pittsburgh Steelers?
Considering that my wife is from Jersey, big Giants fans, all I've ever been told is how
ruthless and terrible the Eagles fans are.
So I've got to go with the Steelers.
Go birds, Scooter.
But let's talk a little bit about what's it like?
I mentioned Arthur Smith, you had him, you know, when you're in Atlanta to kind of go to a new team, but have the familiarity with that offensive scheme, a guy that, you know, probably understands your skill set and how you like to play the game.
Like, how nice is that to kind of have that at a new team?
Yeah, no, it's awesome.
It's super beneficial for a guy like me.
It makes the transition very seamless.
I really enjoyed my time in Atlanta with him.
You know, he was the head coach, but he's also running the show on the offense last year.
So, I mean, as far as learning the playbook, day one, I pretty much know everything.
Obviously, there's going to be a little tweaks and changes with the different quarterbacks and stuff like that.
But it's been great.
I think Arthur does a great job.
I love his mentality.
The way he comes to work every day, I think he fits in great with kind of the Steelers culture that Coach Tomlin kind of lays down.
So it's been great.
So far, it's been our time's great.
It's been great with the Steelers, the stuff we've been able to do in OTAs.
And just excited for the type of guys we have on all.
on our offense, just the different things we'll be able to do.
I just super creative with his offense and in the run game and the play action.
So it's going to be, it's going to be fun.
Yeah, I mean, that run game will really help set up play action go balls.
And speaking to go balls, let's talk about my guy.
Wisconsin Badger, you know, there for one year, but, you know, you watch like Sunday night
football or Monday night or whatever.
Russell's always, you're saying Badgers.
He's a big Badger guy.
What would have been your impressions of Russell Wilson so far?
I mean, he's historically great with the deep ball, especially like off of a broken, broken pocket, off the scramble.
How's your guys' chemistry coming along so far?
No, it's great.
He's super cool.
Great to work with him, a super hard worker.
So like you said, he's known for that deep ball.
I mean, you see him with Lockett, with DK, I mean, over and over again.
So, I mean, first day when we came to work and we're throwing deep balls, I'm just like, wow, this is amazing.
He just floats it so high up in there and every time it just falls right in the breadbasket.
So for a guy like me, you couldn't ask for anything more.
Also, Justin has a great, Justin Fields is a great deep ball as well.
Can make plays outside of the pocket.
So you kind of have the best of both worlds there.
That's a smart wide receiver.
Shout out both quarterbacks.
Give them both love.
That way they feed you the ball.
That's a vet move, scooter.
That's it right there.
Yeah, you learn six years in.
You got to find a way.
All right, Scottie.
Favorite quarterback you've ever played with?
Russell Wilson, Desmond Ritter, Heineke,
Tom Brady, James Morgan, Mike Messina.
That's a tough one, man.
I've had a lot of fun playing with every one of those guys.
You know, Super Bowl with Tom Brady,
so that's got to be up there.
But my boy James Morgan, that boy is nice.
Bowling Green legend.
Bowling Green Legend, transfer to FIU up in the CFL right now.
Mike Messina, close second, but James Morgan takes a kick.
You heard it here first.
James Morgan, better quarterback than Tom.
Brady. Thanks, Scottie. You're going to play any special teams with Justin Fields?
Yeah, Justin Fields. Yeah, they're talking about, I think Jaylon Warren said on the podcast.
He'll be a starting kick return, so we'll see what happens there.
You guys might have to fight for those reps. I know you're a big special team's guy.
Huge.
Oh, God. Okay, what the fuck that also do I want to ask you? Oh, this is a question I have for you.
Have you, no receiver just came out on Netflix. Have you watched any of that at all?
My wife has started watching events.
I've watched it a little bit with her here and there,
but I haven't been too locked in on it yet.
Yeah, I haven't been able to check it out.
But I did see one clip that I thought was really interesting.
Devante Adams, I think he said it to Max Crosby.
He basically said that getting off the line versus press is very similar to like a D-Lyman
hitting a pass rush move against an offensive line.
I was wondering if you have any, if you like how you feel about that.
You kind of agree with that?
Because I think I remember seeing Mike, because Mike.
we get pressed a lot in Tampa and he's got these big long arms and he would hit like
club armovers almost like these hump moves like a reddy white hump move to get open and create
that space you feel like there's a lot of similarities there no it's funny you said that because
mike for sure does it mike does a great job too kind of using his hands with his feet together
very similar to what the linemen do um and yeah i would definitely say that i mean i remember
my rookie year i went to florida state with james and he had this this trainer otis who's still
trained.
Otis legend, dude.
Those workouts are legendary.
Team Erda out there snapping the ball.
I mean, it doesn't get any better than that.
So I remember Otis had us like, had a bag set up and had us doing D-Longos, and I'm like,
man, like, what are we doing?
I don't know if this is trans-it.
But then when you really start doing it, you realize how similar it really is and
how much it can really help you.
So I'd love to see you what that release is looking like.
Hey, we'll have a little, you know how they do like tight end you?
We'll have like a wide receiver D-line you.
Yeah, we'll just chop it up.
Yeah, yeah, perfect.
You teach me how to speed rush.
I'll teach you how to bull rush is great.
Yeah, amazing.
Hey, so if you're a D-Lyman,
let's say we get you on the edge in a three-point stance,
what move are you going to hit?
I mean, I think if, like, Tristan Worf's out there left tackle,
I think I could, like, get him with,
I'm going speed up field, get him to over at, spin back under.
Like, I don't know how he stops at it being that big.
Yeah, hit him with that Elvis Dumerville.
Yeah, exactly.
Okay, I got a couple more.
I really appreciate you coming on here, Scott.
I'm getting the most out.
I got a couple more questions for you.
Like I said, I'm a fucking noseguard.
I have no idea what it's like to be a wide receiver in the NFL.
What is the hardest ball to catch?
Like, is it an underthrown deep ball?
Is it something where you know you're near the sideline and you got to make sure you tow tap and get it in?
Is it an overthrown ball?
Like, what's the hardest ball to kind of track in the air?
For me, the deep balls is kind of like where I've made my living in the NFL.
And those are, a lot of people say those are tough.
And I agree, but I practice this so much, so maybe not.
But the deep balls that are kind of, you have to kind of turn your head and almost look straight in the air for it.
Yeah.
I think I pretty hard, but that's the moneymaker because it's used like a 50-yarder that you've got to make.
Yeah.
And then, but then the one I'd really say that I think is tough is like a one step now,
or when you just kind of come screaming inside.
Yeah.
And a lot of times the quarterback got to put some heat on it to get you the ball.
And it's just on you so quick.
And I think I would say personally that that's probably, as funny as it sounds, that's probably one of the tougher.
From a timing standpoint.
Timing says,
I use so quick,
usually the balls with a lot of velocity,
so I think it's pretty tough.
Got it.
What's it like to catch touchdown in the NFL?
Pretty cool.
Not much better than it than maybe hitting the third shot drop and pick a ball.
But besides that,
it's up there.
I'm a banger, dude.
You know that.
Yeah,
not much touch in your game.
Fucking tell me that on the court,
Scooter.
I want to try to,
so obviously you're going to be in the AFC North now.
What,
who,
I want to,
like,
I always love hearing about guys who,
you know,
you kind of end up playing the same guys over and over again in the NFL.
Like, I feel like I had AQ Shipley on a couple weeks ago or a month or two ago or whatever.
And I played him on like three different teams.
Any guys that you've played against a ton or like a guy where you just have a ton of respect for him?
Maybe he doesn't get a lot of love.
But like anyone that's just a tough matchup for you, especially like defensive backfield,
guy that you have a lot of respect for.
Honestly, like with the way I've been playing is like so, you know, like I play inside.
I play outside.
I play a lot of different spots.
I don't get a lot of matchups where I'm with a guy all game.
Yep.
But I will speak on, like, guys that I've played with on the Bucks, specifically for four years,
like going up against Carlton Davis.
And now he's with Detroit.
They just traded him out there.
But just to see what he was able to do on the line of scrimmage, just with his length
and coming from, like, the Mac, and you don't see guys like that,
matching up against him every day.
And one-on-ones, this is like, wow, this is a whole different ballgame.
I can't just do what I used to do.
I got to be creative, be shifty, slide certain ways, use different releases.
So him is a guy that I got a lot of respect for.
Last year I played with AJ Terrell and Jeff Okuda.
But Jeff got hurt in training camp for us.
But just both those guys, too, super talented, you know, first round picks.
So those are guys I've spent a ton of time going against a practice and guys that I got a lot of respect for.
Yeah, you always have those dudes in practice.
We're like, fuck, man.
Like I'm so sorry.
I'm so sick of lineup against you.
Especially in camp when you see a guy like or OTA is like, that was me and Jensen, bro.
That was me and Jensen in Tampa and Jensen.
You guys look alike too.
Fuck out of here, bro.
Get the fuck out of here.
You motherfucker.
I fucking should have see that coming a mile away.
All right.
How many, now that you're up in Pittsburgh, you've been saying yin's a lot or what?
Yeah, yinns going to that little sandwich shop with the fries on it.
Doing all the Pittsburgh stuff.
That's Pimani's, I believe.
Scotty, come on, man.
You're going to piss off on the Steelers fans before you've been up there.
I've been there for like a month, so I'm still trying to get it down.
But it's been good.
You're going to have to take Jenna and Brody up to Pomonis.
Yeah, I know.
I do.
Brody would love it.
Yeah, that'd be great for him, man.
Well, hey, it's been great having you on, man.
I miss you.
Hopefully we can hang out soon.
And I hope you have a great camp, dude.
Yeah, I appreciate it.
Brother.
Next time, if I'm on again, make sure you let Cowboy talk to me through the instructions
about getting on the app because.
Yeah, it took 45 minutes to get Scooter on this interview.
I felt like I was walking through my boomer parents through how to do their first Zoom call.
I understand what you guys have producers and stuff like that.
They got to make us look good, Scotty.
It's not easy.
That's right.
Oh, there he is.
Hey, that's the,
just so everyone knows,
these are the two real athletes of the Miller household,
Jenna and brother.
That's right.
Jenna is a collegiate.
I heard you're talking about pickleball.
And did Scotty mention our record against each other?
No, drop it in here, Jenna.
What do you got for us?
Yeah, it's three to nothing.
So just remember, though.
Hey, the real athlete.
the family, Jenna.
I have to hold Brody while we play those, so that's fine.
Yeah, hey, well, don't drop the baby.
Can't drop the future, man.
Can't drop the future.
Jenna, great to see you, Brody.
Getting big, man.
He gives me a nose guy, shooter.
Yeah, I hope that.
I appreciate you, ma'am.
Yes, sir.
Thank you, see you, brother.
Thank you for joining us, Scotty Miller.
Good luck in camp in Pittsburgh, man.
Scotty's a great guy.
I love having them on.
Nate, you don't know who's Sydney, Sweet.
is.
Guys, I'm not good with remembering names and actresses and actors.
I'm not good.
But once you brought the picture of, like I said, the slut.
Oh, bro, boo.
Is she not the slough from euphoria?
They're all slots in euphoria, bro.
Yeah, that is.
Yeah, but like, but like I'm also saying that in endearing,
in an endearing way.
Like, it's not a bad thing.
I, I, I liked her role in that show.
I like to roll in that show, too.
But what was the premise to that question?
Bo just asked who are some young actresses?
Oh, yeah.
And we said Florence Pew, Sydney Sweeney.
And then whoever young Reneeris is, I like her too.
Young Reneeris.
I'm not familiar with Young Renierce's work.
I will hand up.
You got to watch House of the Dragon.
House of the Dragons.
Oh, yeah, I don't watch that.
Okay.
Yeah, is it literally young Reneeris?
No, that's the act.
Let me, let me, let me step in and help out.
It is Reneeris.
And she, and they, they have like,
Oh, young.
Got it.
While she's younger, the actress who played her while she was younger.
But right now, she's not in the show anymore because she's old.
Actually, she flashbacks, but she's not really in the show.
I typed in into Google.
I typed young Reneas, R-A-H-E-R-N-I-S.
Not even close.

It's so funny.
So, like, I've been obsessing over trying to catch a garfish because I've been watching,
YouTube videos, fishing videos.
And garfish is a hard fish to catch.
And for whatever reason, we have a bunch of them basically across the street from where I live.
And so, like, I just started fishing and I'm like, oh, it'd be cool to catch one of these fish.
And for the past, like, two months, like almost every other day, I've been going.
And it's just been no luck, no luck, no luck.
And then my girl and my baby, they're down at the river with me.
and bro, I happen to get a snag from a gar
and I'm reeling it in and my girl starts taking a video
and once I get it up like Antalayan,
like she's like, y'all, I'm so proud of you.
And everyone in the comments is just like,
yo, my girl, I've been with my girl for this amount of years
and she's never said that to me.
Like she's the real catch.
And I'm like really happy that the video is going viral
for that reason.
But also, too, that I did.
And also the reason why the video went viral is because I was unsure being a new angler
if what I did was considered a catch or not because I didn't technically touch the fish,
but I controlled it to the bank.
You can weigh in, Bo being a Minnesota.
Yeah.
So Fax reeled it in.
He pulled it, he got it out of the water onto the bank.
It was sitting on the bank and then on the bank, it flopped off and jumped back in the water.
If you haven't seen out of the water onto the bank.
Out of the water into the bank or onto the bank.
Yes.
And, and but I stood there and watched it go back into the water.
I could have made a, I could have made a serious attempt to grab it or touch it.
But because of the fish it was, I was not going to get bit.
You were scared of a gar.
Bro, if you haven't seen one of these garfishes.
No, gars are sick.
They're sick, but they are like, they're like, oh, you'll take, it'll take your arm.
Like, it's going to snap your arm right off.
I mean, I'll, I'll give it to you.
That's close.
Like, I want to be a hater, but if you don't get the photo with it, like,
bro, I don't know.
Bro, this video, it's so funny.
Everything you just said, there's been a comment saying that on the thing.
There's like over 750 comments on this video.
I got a fine.
And it's good comments, but there's a lot of hate.
Did you catch a shit on a chilling reel?
Because that's a big fish.
Oh, no, no, not a chilling reel.
Speaking of, did you get the chill and reel plug in there?
Come on.
Yo, shout out to chill at reel.
Pro-code, Dr. Facts.
And maybe that'll be my next video trying to catch a gar on a chilling reel.
For all the commenters on Nate's Reddit post, if you think Nate's girl was hype for him catching a fish, you got to come out to a softball game.
Because every single at bat, every single innate is the most cheered for person in the shop ball league.
She was a softball star in high school.
So, like, that's my coach.
Ride or die, Mariah is the homie.
But we were talking about Sidney Sweeney.
And last week on the show, Nate, making myself, Matt and Dachie all got to do this.
And I wanted to give you the chance, Beau.
Yep.
We brought up movie sequels.
So many movie sequels are going on right now.
What is a movie you would make a sequel of?
Who would you cast?
What's the premise?
So I got to fully flesh out this idea a little bit more,
but we can do it on the fly.
Also, while we're talking movie sequels,
I have the mic.
I just want to say Dune 2, Electric.
Anyway, moving on, the movie sequel that I would want to see
is Ferris Bueller's Day Off 2, save Ferris Jr.
So that is, that's the title.
It's a little lengthy.
We're still workshopping it a little bit.
But Ferris Bueller's Day Off is an iconic movie.
All right.
I have not going to lie to you, I have a huge crush on Sloan.
I always have.
You and everybody else.
Yeah, she's just got the it factor.
But Cameron Frye, amazing character.
Matthew Broderick playing Ferris, the iconic rascal.
Cameron is Macon's Cameron's Doppler Gangor.
Yeah.
Making win is Cameron for Halloween in 2019.
Yeah, and it's good to see Alan Ruck, who is the actor that plays that.
he's been getting some love from succession too.
Yep.
But here's the premise of the movie.
All right.
Again,
not fully fleshed out.
But Ferris and Sloan end up being high school,
sweethearts getting married after high school.
Ferris doesn't go to college.
But Ferris is kind of up to his usual antics.
She gets sick of it.
They get divorced,
but not before they have a child.
Ferris Jr., played by Timothy Shalameh.
Okay.
Then,
uh,
you know, Ferris moves, like something takes him away from Chicago or wherever they were.
He ends up coming back.
Ferris Jr.
because he wants to win back Sloan, right?
The love of his life because she's about to get married.
Somebody else.
It's actually Cameron Frye that she's going to get married to.
But Cameron has a daughter from a previous relationship, Bianca Fry, played by Sidney Sweeney.
And that's how we got onto the Sydney Sweeney topic.
and Timothy Chalamay, Farrish Jr., ends up falling in love with Bianca,
Bianca Frye.
Cameron Fry hates this.
He doesn't want Ferris Jr.
to be dating his daughter.
They kind of have a little romance, a lot of hijinks are involved.
Also, like Jennifer Gray, will come back in at some point as Jeannie Bueller.
I think we can get Charlie Sheen involved.
He made a brief cameo in the movie.
Also, I really, really want to do everything we can to get what's his name,
the principal Ed Rooney back.
Oh, yeah. Rooney.
Yeah, he, I'm not sure.
Oh, that's great.
Oh, alive.
I'm going to say dead.
I don't know.
Buizing guy.
Someone looked that up, please.
But Ed Rooney will be involved in some,
in some capacity.
Alive.
Not to interrupt.
Jeffrey Duncan Jones,
born September 28th,
1946.
He is alive.
Other kind of ideas I'm workshoping for this
sequel uh the car is obviously going to have to be involved in some point i think maybe cameron fry
never got it fixed up and it's still just fucked up and beat up but he displays it that way and that's
kind of his like way to stick it to his dad anyway lots of fun um you know fun adventures for
timothy shallamey as ferris junior that's my pitch you know what would be good in that plot
that ferris junior or ferris trying to stick it to his dad because he's a loafer he buys into
Bitcoin early.
Okay.
So,
Timothy Shalema is just wealthy.
As Farras Jr.
Yeah.
He buys into,
and then his dad
is always talking about hard work
and he just gets rich
overnight from Biggs.
Because he was like in the movie too.
Like he was up to date
like on the old electronics.
Yeah, everything.
He had this shit set up.
And he put so much work
into faking being sick for school.
Yeah.
Then, yeah,
he was on top of it.
I do need to mention
reading Jeffrey Duncan
and Jones's Wikipedia page that he has been, um, he was arrested, uh, for possession of child
pornography and soliciting.
Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait,
cancel's ass. He gone. Yeah. He is not in the movie. We'll give him, we'll give him a brutal,
a brutal death off camera. Yeah, that's perfect. Yeah. Yeah. You have to get his secretary to
explain how he died. Grace. Yeah. Grace. Okay. Well,
That's like a dark turn cowboy, but that's my pitch.
So it's all the media execs out there.
I feel pretty good about it.
What's the movie with Roaring Kitty about the stocks?
Oh, yeah, the game's that one.
Oh.
I didn't see that one, facts.
I'm not going to lie to you.
Dumb money.
Dumb money.
Dome money.
Paul Dano is really good in it.
So I would do a remake of Dumb Money, but I would take it from like the evil
side and run it from the point of view of all these people doing the scams like who everyone who were making these quote unquote shit coins yeah yeah
coins and what's the shit that tom brady and all these people bought into yeah like i i would do a movie
like from that perspective of the guys like like the the evil hackers yeah yeah yeah scammers who are
making a bunch of money off of people.
Like it's really, I don't like, I don't want to call people dumb or gullible or I don't
know what it is, but like good scammers are really good.
Yeah.
Like they're really, really good.
And it's one of those things that like there's so many people who get scammed.
It makes you wonder, like, are all these people just idiots?
Are they dumb?
Are they gullible?
Yeah.
Or like, what's the science?
behind the back end.
Right, right.
All that.
So if I can interrupt you for one second,
facts,
if you look up this dude,
Sam Bankman-Fried or something like that is his name for the FDX scandal
that like John Brady,
Shaq,
like all these people were involved in it.
It's actually crazy because he had this like sex pot girlfriend
that was like really behind it,
like helping basically launder like millions and millions of dollars.
And it gets really weird.
Like it gets like.
And why not have a little?
A beautiful movie about it.
You're going to cast Sidney Sweeney as his girlfriend?
Look her up.
I don't know if that's a good player comp for her.
Yeah, we can check it out.
Yeah.
Before we dove off the Sydney Sweeney diving board,
you're in the, you know, just about one of the fishing capitals of the world
and one of the summer destination capitals of the world.
But Minnesota, the state, nowhere in the state,
showed up on our summer destinations draft.
that also happened last week.
We wanted to give you the floor to either pitch
Minnesota as a summer vacation
or to not pitch it.
Not only as a summer vacation,
cowboy,
there's a year-round destination for everyone to enjoy.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You're right, hey, skiing, cross-country skiing, right?
Yeah.
Y'all don't have many hills,
like downhills.
Y'all can scoot around those trees, right?
Here is my pitch on the lovely,
well, first of all,
I'm just going to say Minneapolis, but the great state of Minnesota is a lovely place to be.
First of all, fuck all y'all for not putting on your list.
But that's okay with me.
Stay away.
Don't come because it is mine to enjoy it.
It's a hidden gem.
I think the kind of idea and perception of what Minnesota is does not fit the reality.
First of all, a lot of lovely folks that live in Minnesota like yours truly.
But it is beautiful.
People have this idea that Minnesota is like super country and there's not any large
cities, which is bullshit.
Like there's definitely areas of Minnesota that are more country, but Minneapolis is a lovely
thriving city with an unbelievable food scene, Dr. Fax.
I know you like doing Fax Foods.
So you can come visit your boy in Minneapolis and I'll take you to some of my favorite
restaurants.
Not to cut you off.
Is that, is that where the Mall of America is?
The Mall of America is in Minnesota, but there's so much more in this great state.
I'll tell you right now.
But you come to Minneapolis.
There's really, really good restaurants.
Like I'm in North Loop, Minneapolis right now.
I'm actually at Divine Fox Studios in North Loop.
Shout out to Sam, my guy.
But literally right around the corner from here,
there's like this awesome Italian restaurant, Bar LaGrasse, BLG.
I love it.
The best burger in all of Minneapolis.
Minnesota's kind of known for this burger called Juicy Lucy Lucy's.
In my opinion, not the best burger in Minneapolis.
The best burger in Minneapolis is that parlor burger right down the street on Washington.
There's also Porzana, which is an Argentinian steakhouse.
Unbelievable, Sanjusan is an Italian, Japanese fusion.
Right above Sanjusan, there's Kato Nomezse, which is an Omikaze sushi place.
There's this restaurant called...
I'm looking at home here right now.
Talk about marketing.
Not about marketing.
Northeast called All Saints.
You can go on down to Linnon Hills, where I'm staying facts.
I'll take you down there.
We can go to Rosalia patio.
believable pizza, pop over next door to Martina. Awesome spot. Right down the street is Tilia.
Like, listen, I could do this shit all day, brother. I could take out on Lake Minnetonka where there's
beautiful, lovely homes. We can go to Maynards, which is actually a bar I got kicked out of on the night I got
drafted. I avoided it for 10 years after that, but I was there this weekend. It was really fun.
Anyway, when you walked in, when you walked in this weekend, did they recognize you and say,
they're like, oh my God, he's back. I literally avoided this place for 10 years. But what I'm saying,
facts is that there's a really good food scene in Minneapolis I think is unbelievably slapped on.
There's like a Michelin Star restaurant called Demi right down the street too, which is really good.
Anyway, I could go on and on about this shit.
I got a notes app I'll share with you with all the great restaurants in Minnesota.
But beyond that, lake life is unbelievable.
Take the boat out on the lake facts.
We'll teach you how to wake surf.
We can go wakeboarding.
We can open up some high noons.
You can have a good time.
But Minneapolis is great.
Also, let's talk about the Minnesota State Fair, which is in August.
Oh, like you're talking food.
I do.
Unbelievable.
I do want to go to that.
I do want to go to that.
But I'm not going to lie, bro.
I'm black and I feel like if I went to that, like, health-wise, health-wise two days or a day at that fair can, like, end up not well for me.
I mean, you'll gain 15 pounds, bro.
Bro, some of the stuff I've seen on videos at that state fair, like food-wise.
It like just watching it, you can tell how good it is, but like how bad it is for you.
But I want to, I want to try all of it.
Fried Oreos, right?
Fried Oreos, fried Twinkies, like weird shit that I want to try it all.
The French fries, like the French fries are from Idaho or like all this stuff, bro.
It looks good.
It looks good.
One thing that they do too is they actually have a butter queen.
And I visited the state fair.
last year with my mom and sister
and they had a butter sculpture of like
all the, I don't know,
like the dairy girls.
Are you included in the parade with the butter queen?
I should be.
The Butter King.
Start the petition.
You heard it here first, baby.
But anyway, I mean,
I could go on and on about Minnesota.
It's a lovely state.
There's also a lot of really fun stuff to do in the winter.
I'll teach out to play pond hockey facts.
We can go ice fishing.
Ice fishing would be cool, but,
but I visited the Vikings one time.
and it was too cold to be outside.
You're in a shanty.
You're in a big shanty that's like got to heat it.
Like, dude, some people have unbelievable ice.
But you got to get there.
You got to get there, though.
Before the shanty gets put up and everything.
Like, am I going to survive that, that process, that 30 minutes or an hour?
You went in Chicago.
You play for the bears.
Well, it's the same shit.
Bro, but it's, I wasn't outside.
We'll get some car heart.
You'll be fine.
Yeah.
It'll be fine.
I do, I do want to do some ice fishing.
I'm not going to lie.
Yeah.
Here's a secret, though, facts.
What people don't tell you is ice fish.
It's just an excuse to post up in a shanty and drink beer.
And just you just jig over a hole cutting ice.
It's great.
As long as I can smoke out the shanty, I'm in.
Hey, here's my selling point for you on Minnesota.
Weed is legal here, brother.
I love it.
And they have, this is the only place I've ever seen these.
They have THC, Seltzer beverages.
that they sell at all these restaurants I've been naming and they're phenomenal.
Really?
Yeah,
they're great.
I've never seen them anywhere else.
They're perfect.
Interesting.
Yeah.
I'm down, bro.
They probably have like niche ones at the Minnesota State Fair for you.
I got to check out what, what, you know the state there's the state fish there?
Oh, that's a, like is it probably walleye.
Yeah, it's got to be walleye.
Do you do you eat?
Yes, it's unbelievable eating, dude.
A walleye sandwich.
It's my favorite fish to eat.
Can you get walleye to eat?
at any of those 58 restaurants that you named?
You know, I'd probably go to Awame.
For Wally.
Yeah.
Or else Maynors has a good walleye sandwich.
I'm pretty sure that's our wa'am.
Awamah, yeah.
It's a native restaurant.
It's really good.
Misholins.
Oh, nice.
James Beard Award winner.
Nice.
Man.
My guy Sam is all over it.
I want to take a second.
Shout out, Sam.
He's Green Light and Yote House Media employee the month.
Bo needed a studio in Minnesota and Sam came through.
Divine Fox Studios.
Bo be recording out of there on Thursday, too.
You'll hear him.
Friday episode is going to,
we're going to continue Bo week here.
We've got a couple great NFL guests for you.
I hope you enjoyed today's episode.
Make sure you come back Friday for a little more Butter King.
