So please get as comfortable as you can. We're going to quickly relax your mind and body and your body can feel supported
Starting point is 00:02:46 and comfortable in the bed. There's nothing you need to do. Know where you need to be except right here allowing this moment to gently unfold. Let's begin with the breath taking a long, slow inhale through your nose
Starting point is 00:03:18 and exhale fully through your mouth and let go let that breath signal to your body that it's time to relax, time to let go feel your shoulders drop away and relax the muscles in your face ease and soften and your eyes gently rested. Notice the weight of your body.
Starting point is 00:04:06 Supported by the surface beneath you, gravity is holding with every breath. A little more tension melts away, like warm sunlight, dissolving away the last traces of cloud, and imagine, it's winter on the big island of home, The air is warm and fragrant.
Starting point is 00:04:46 The sun is soft and golden and the salty breeze carries the hush of ocean waves. You're standing near the edge of the shore where the deep Pacific welcomes the migrating whales. And your gentle day of quiet observation is just beginning. You begin walking slowly. Across a sun-worned concrete path
Starting point is 00:05:30 that leads down to the harbour. The wall beneath your feet is gentle. Like a quiet reminder that the day has only just begun. Each step is unhurried and the rhythm of your movement matches the peaceful pace of the morning you notice the soft scurf
Starting point is 00:06:05 of your shoes against the pavement the occasional creek of the wooden dog as it meets the shifting tide ahead of the marina opens like a watercolour painting with small sailboats bobbing in calm water their masts rising into the sky
Starting point is 00:06:39 like slender trees the sunlight sparkles across the surface of the sea dancing in flickers of silver and pale blue pause for a moment breathing in the centre of salt air and sun-worned wood. There's a distant call of sea birds, overhead, and the soft, rhythmic
Starting point is 00:07:21 clink of sail-race, tapping against hollow metal masks, a sound so gentle, it feels like the harbour is humming its own lullaby. A small boat away. you. At the end of the dot, it has a white hole with wooden trim, clean and simple, bobbing slightly, as if greeting you. The captain is already a bold. He wears a soft smile and a well-worn hat. He nods. Not needing to speak, he step onto the boat. the moment your foot touches the deck you feel the subtle shift
Starting point is 00:08:34 of balance beneath you the water welcomes your presence and you settle into a padded bench sea facing outward toward the vast blue horizon with the sea stretching out endlessly ahead a soft invitation
Starting point is 00:09:04 to leave everything behind the engine starts quiet and steady it homes beneath your body like a purring cat low and comforting and the boat begins to glide away from the dog
Starting point is 00:09:30 passing other vessels resting in their sense The harbour narrows behind you, then gently opens up, releasing you into open water. You are now part of the sea's rhythm, and your journey into stillness begins. Time begins to blur out here, out in the open Pacific, where the horizon stretches in every day. direction. The boat engine has been turned off and now there's only the natural rhythm of the sea. And the quiet that lives beyond the noise. You drift gently. The boat moving with the ocean's breath. Each wave lifts and lows you, ever so slightly, like a cradle or rocket.
Starting point is 00:10:59 you in the arms of the water. There's a stillness here that feels almost sacred, not silent exactly, but full of soft sounds that bring peace. The water laps softly against the hull. The wind brushes past your face,
Starting point is 00:11:33 light and cool, carrying with it the faint, scent of salt and something wild. Seabirds cry faintly in the distance where their voices part of this great open symphony above the sky is vast and unmarred. A dome of gentle blue
Starting point is 00:12:03 that stretches endlessly and below a misty. And below a misty. awaits. You close your eyes for a moment, breathing in deeply, then exhaling slowly, and you let your body melt into the rhythm of this floating world. The captain moves quietly. With practice hands, he lowers a long cable over the side of the boat. A hydrophys. A hydrophys. phone designed to listen to the world below and he turns on the speaker and no words are spoken, no announcements made, just a soft click and then you begin to hear it. Resonant hum,
Starting point is 00:13:20 long and melodic, rising from the depths of the sea, then another sound. higher and more wavering. Like a flute under water, the songs of humpback whales, ancient, intricate and hauntingly beautiful. Each sound echoes like it's travelling through a vast cathedral beneath the waves. They pass and curl,
Starting point is 00:13:57 rising and falling in deep toes, It's as if the ocean itself is singing in its sleep and you feel the vibrations not only through your ears, but through your chest the sound is alive. It moves through your ribs down your spine like it's tuning your whole body to the frequency. of the sea. You close your eyes again. Listening, letting go. There's something profound in this moment. Something wordless. You are hearing the language of a world that existed long before people and will continue long after. You open your eyes as the captain, raises a hand and gently points across the water. And you follow the motion of his finger,
Starting point is 00:15:22 just beyond the edge of the boat, a puff of white mist, and below, you see it, a dark back, smooth and glistening, curving up out of the sea with snow, effortless power, A humpback whale. It surfaces gracefully and it breathes in with a deep sound
Starting point is 00:15:54 that feels like the sea itself exceiling. Then slips back beneath the water in one smooth silent motion. Everyone on board is quiet. No one speaks. No one needs to. You all simply watch A second whale appears Not far from the first
Starting point is 00:16:31 Then a third a little farther round The water around them darkens with their movement And you see the smooth Slow arcs of their backs The occasional flick of a massive tail One arises higher this time and it lifts a long, sleek thin into the air. The thin hovers for a moment, graceful and deliberate,
Starting point is 00:17:16 then slaps the surface of the ocean with a mighty splash. The sound is deep and echoing. As if the ocean clapped its hands, you feel a quiet thrill, move through you. Not excitement exactly, but something deeper, reverence. The whales seem to move in slow motion as though they are unbound by time.
Starting point is 00:17:57 Their size is enormous, but their presence is gentle. You feel no fear, only all, as if these beings are wise old travellers. Moving across the sea, like monks through a temple,
Starting point is 00:18:23 the hydrophone continues to sing. Their voices rise and fall, sometimes long and mournful, other times playful or sharp. Like questions echoing in the dark, for a while you simply stay. watching listening and breathing the sea becomes your breath
Starting point is 00:18:54 the sky your seening the boat your cradle and the whales your ancient guides time stretches here not forward or backwards just wide and deep everything feels connected the surface the depths
Starting point is 00:19:23 the air the sound the silence even your own heartbeat begins to match the rhythm of the ocean and you let your eyes close again you imagine what it must feel like to swim freely through those underwater worlds to glide through tunnels of blue light singing songs
Starting point is 00:19:55 No human has ever fully understood You stay there Suspended in the music and stillness Drifting in both body and mind This moment is timeless A gift from the sea And a memory Your heart will carry
Starting point is 00:20:21 Long after you return to shore The sun begins to lower in the sky now, casting soft golden light across the ocean's rippling surface. Everything glows. The sea turning a deep, silken blue, with hints of pink and gold, brushing the tips of the waves. You take one light. Lingering look at the horizon far in the distance. A final puff of mist rises. One more whale surfacing than vanishing back into the deep. Their songs still echo faintly through the hydrophone,
Starting point is 00:21:26 as if the sea is gently saying goodbye. The captain moves. with calm assurance, raising the hydrophone, coining the cable, then quietly restarting the boat's engine. It comes to life once more. Soft, steady and deep, like the boat is purring in its thing. You begin the return journey, skimming across calm water, that now reflects the sky like a mirror.
Starting point is 00:22:18 The island begins to rise again in the distance. Its green slopes touched by the colours of sunset. Palm sway gently along the shoreline. You can just make out rooftops, tucked between trees, and the curve of the harbour you left behind. The air is cooler now, the light blanket,
Starting point is 00:22:56 Over your shoulders. Feeling cozy and deeply at peace. As the boat glides back into the marina, you hear the familiar sounds return, the gentle creek of dockwood, the rhythmic clink of rites, the soft murmur of people on shore, you step onto solid ground,
Starting point is 00:23:27 once again. Your legs sway slightly. Still attuned to the rhythm of the sea, you walk slowly, grateful and grounded. You carry the sound of the whales with you now. Their presence like a lullaby
Starting point is 00:23:53 echoing in your breath. And as you lie back, Safe and still, you feel the ocean's rhythm continue within you, rocking you gently into peaceful sleep.
