It was Christmas Eve.
Katie gazed out of the car window and a little preview for you.
and her mind drifted back to a magical day years ago
when she'd accidentally bumped into a handsome stranger
at the sleepcote Christmas market.
The stranger was a young man called James, Katie,
had apologised for not looking where she was going
they had fallen into an easy conversation.
They had ended up exploring the market together, getting to know each other, and growing closer in the process.
That day had marked the beginning of a beautiful love story that had led them down the aisle a few years later, ten years after.
their first meeting, they were returning to Sleep Cove.
This time, with their four-year-old son, Oscar.
They had bought a cottage in the village,
and they were looking forward to making it their permanent home,
Sleep Cove, had always held a special place in their hearts.
James reached over and gently squeezed Katie's hand
with me doing this, he asked.
Katie smiled like a dream come true.
She replied, they had left the city behind hours ago,
heading into the countryside,
frost-covered fields and to drift downwards.
As they drove it on,
They talked about their plans for the future.
With James, set to start his new job as a teacher at the local school,
joining to the upcoming Christmas festivities.
From the back seat, Oscar asked,
Will Santa know we've moved house?
Don't worry, little man, James said, catching Oscar's eye in the rearview mirror.
I sent sent her a letter to let him know about our new address.
He'll definitely find us in sleep cove, Oscar grinned.
His worries instantly forgotten.
The car continued its journey to.
towards sleep cove, carrying their little family closer to their new beginning, the snow continued to fall,
covering their landscape in a blanket of white later. They arrived at the village and drove slowly past the quaint shops and cozy cottages to take it all in.
They continued through the village and towards a row of cottages that overlooked the sea
began to fall more heavily as they pulled up to their charming new home.
Daisy Cottage
The cottage had white-washed walls and a garden that promised to be filled with Daisy's come summer.
couldn't wait to spend lazy afternoons, tending to the flowers, watching Oscar the Blues.
They got out of the car and had a good stretch, faced woman in her 60s neighbouring cottage,
who had served Katie and James at the Christmas tree stall all those years ago,
had never forgotten her kindness.
It was Sophie.
Hadn't forgotten their names either.
James, back to Sleep Cove one day.
Are you moving into Daisy Cottage?
You've remembered us after all these years.
I've remembered you too, Sophie.
Yes, we're moving into this cottage.
How wonderful!
There we get to be neighbours.
You must meet our son, Oscar, their little boy, bundled up in his puffy coat and scarf, peered up at Sophie with curious eyes.
He said shiny, offering a small wave.
Well, hello there, Oscar, she said, her voice soft and gentle.
I'm so happy to meet you.
I met your mummy and daddy when they came to a Christmas fair some years ago, lit up at the mention of his parents, and he launched into an animated retelling of their journey to sleep cave.
Sophie listened intently.
When Oscar had finished with his tale, Katie told Sophie that she was going to be working at a nearby vet's practice, and James had a teaching position at the local school.
