Hi there. I have a guest episode for you today. It's from my friend Joe Rose, who runs the Azen Mind podcast.
If you enjoy this meditation as much as we did, please be sure to check out the Azen Mind podcast, wherever you get your podcasts.
And everything is linked in the description. I hope you enjoy, and let's begin.
take a moment to find the most comfortable position for you today allowing your body to begin to relax and release as you sink into this present moment letting go of the day letting go of any expectations letting go of anything
that doesn't belong to these next few minutes. Inviting yourself into the sanctuary within your own
beautiful inner world. A place to rest. A place to receive. And when you're ready, exhale all of the air out of your lungs
and begin by taking the deepest breath in that you've taken all day long breathing in deeply through the nose
filling the breath from the base of your spine all the way up to the crown of your head
and exhale slowly through the mouth breath in through the nose expanding the lungs in every direction
stretching them wide, feeling your body soften and open and letting it up to return to its natural
rhythm in its own time. You find yourself walking along a beautiful countryside pathway
at the edge of a forest the sun is setting as it baths everything around you
in a warm amber glow
Golden light dances across blades of grass
Flickering ever so softly
With each movement of the breeze
And the trees sway gently overhead
Their leaves rustling soft hymn
The air is fresh and clean
And you can smell the earth beneath you
Fresh grass
wildflowers. At the end of a summer day, you walk slowly, connecting ever so deeply to every
footstep and to the natural beauty around you. There is an energy that hums throughout this forest,
an energy of comfort, a feeling of familiarity, perhaps a place that your soul recognizes
and remembers.
you walking further and further down the path and soon enough the sun begins to dip below the
horizon and the sky begins to transform into a masterpiece of color soft pinks melt into deep
purples and rich indigo stretch across the horizon the entire sky painted in shades in shades so
beautiful. It almost feels as though the universe itself is putting on a spectacle just for you
and the day begins to quiet itself around you. As you continue walking, the trees begin to open
and ahead you discover a small clearing nestled quietly among rolling hills,
sits a beautiful, untouched lake. It rests here, perfectly still, with merely a ripple or two
created by dancing dragonflies when they dip into the surface. This lake has sat here as a hidden gem,
as though it has remained here for centuries patiently waiting for you to find it. You walk down
a small hillside towards the water and the lake reflects the colors of the sky like a glass mirror
every shade mirrored perfectly upon its surface and you find a soft patch of grass and moss
a place that seems to invite you to rest and so you lie down comfortably to support your entire
body, the evening air has cooled, and the first sounds of the night begin to gently emerge.
Crickets awakening from their daytime slumber and frogs beginning their evening songs.
The forest settles into a new rhythm and as you gaze upward.
You watch the sky slowly begin to darken.
and the vibrant colors of sunset making way to something deeper, something quieter, and as if by magic,
you see the very first star appear. A single point of the light shimmering against the darkening sky
and like a diamond suspended among the heavens. You gaze at it for a moment.
Considering how impossibly far away it is, thousands of light years.
And yet somehow, here you are, witnessing its light.
The sky continues to darken as though a great veil is being gently pulled back.
And one by one, more stars begin to appear.
Hundreds and thousand scattered across the canvas above you, quietly nearby.
A delicate crescent illuminating the landscape with a soft silver glow just enough to see your own shadow beside you.
You feel the earth below you, cradling you.
And here in this sacred space all of the weight of the day,
begins to melt away. As you continue looking upward, you notice the softest ribbon of light
stretching across the night sky, the Milky Way, ancient and endless. The stars seem to shine
a little brighter now and you begin to notice constellations taking shape. Some clustered together
and beautiful patterns, others shining brilliantly on their own.
As you take it all in, you feel the energy stirring softly within you.
You realize just how expansive the night sky truly is, and perhaps how expansive you are too.
and you begin to feel the vastness of your own inner universe, a space that exists far beyond worries,
far beyond deadlines, far beyond fears, and everything that once felt heavy now seems small.
Not because it doesn't matter, but because there is something so much larger, holding it all.
the same way the night sky holds every star, every planet, every galaxy.
And in this moment, you feel that connection as someone who was a part of something so magnificent,
something ancient, something sacred, something infinite.
rest here, giving yourself permission to soak it all in.
Fars above you, beautiful reflection.
In the lake, the gentle orchestra of crickets and frogs
and distant birds, winding down for the night and the earth beneath you,
letting this moment wash over you and simply be with it.
Be here.
Thank you.
