If you have, you'll probably like The History of Egypt podcast.
Every week, we explore tales of this ancient culture.
The history of Egypt is available.
wherever you get your podcasting fix.
Come, let me introduce you to the world of ancient Egypt.
And welcome to Sleep Cove with me, Christopher Fitton.
You might have woken up,
but now is the time to go back to sleep.
And you're making the right steps,
those correct steps,
to drift slowly off to sleep.
So at some point your eyes may have opened.
Your mind stirred.
Maybe you judged yourself for waking up.
Waking up at night isn't wrong.
It's just part of your natural sleep cycle.
Waking up at night is purely natural.
We all do it and we all can get back to sleep.
You will be sleeping again soon.
Our body often goes through sleep cycles, going from lighter stages of sleep to deeper parts.
It does this at a gentle pace, and you can slip back into slumber, even more deeper than before.
And you don't have to force anything.
There's nothing you need to try to do.
You can just let go.
and not try at all.
You don't have to think too hard.
And your subconscious mind will listen to my voice.
Even if the conscious mind is drifting a little,
as you listen to this meditative, hypnotic session.
You don't even need to follow every word.
You don't even need to stay awake.
In fact, you may begin to feel a little sleepy again, maybe right now, or in a moment,
or maybe after the next breath.
There's no need to measure, no need to count.
Just a simple noticing.
A sleep is already on its way back and you're soon ready to re-enter a sleepy sleep.
and you may soon notice that listening to my voice becomes optional.
The sound of my voice may become a background hum,
like wind in the trees or the ocean waves it does.
Because right now your system is recalibrating.
Returning healing, and you feel so good,
and you're ready to sleep soon.
Make a deep breath and you may begin to notice the gentle rhythm of your own breathing
as you do some deep relaxing breath
and you become aware of the natural motion of your breath.
The soft rise and fall
and notice where you're breathing from.
You may want to put one hand on your hand on your own.
stomach and one hand on your upper chest and see which is moving more. If you're breathing
through your chest area, then that means you're doing upper chest breathing and that causes
stress. You want to concentrate, doing deep, belly breathing, where you breathe in through the
stomach and out through the stomach and do it now slowly breathing in.
your stomach moving outwards and then relaxing out and breathing out with your stomach going in
and let's do it again and breathe in through the stomach and breathe out any tension or stress
letting it just go and escape so good so at peace doing deep and i want you to get as comfortable in your
bed as possible, get your body settled into its most comfortable position.
Get your head settled into the pillow too.
Move around, maybe do a little stretch and let the mattress and the covers support and encompass you.
And the material feels so good.
and you feel so relaxed and at ease.
Perhaps you're feeling a little more heavy in your body,
and your arms and legs sink down to the mattress.
And that feels so good.
And maybe coupled with this,
you feel soft like a floating feeling.
And this can be in your body and in your mind too.
as you allow tension to drift from you,
to drift from your body and drift from your mind,
and you allow yourself to drift with a body in mind sinking, melting and drifting.
Eyes should be gently closed now, just resting gently.
with all the little muscles around your eyes relax, not scrunched up and tight, but just soothed and soft, like the feeling in your forehead.
Just allow it to soften. Let all the muscles in your face soften.
So there's no tension in your forehead, your eyes, your cheeks.
your jaw relaxes too
maybe your mouth relaxes
your teeth become uncunched
maybe you move your head into the pillow
allowing your head to sink
into the pillow more
moving your neck if you want to
releasing any tension
in your neck and head
and removing tension in your mind as well.
And you feel so good, that's good.
Some people imagine that their thoughts are like leaves,
on a slow-moving stream,
and you allow your thoughts to escape your mind.
Like leaves moving in a slow-moving stream.
And you can just watch them drift by.
These thoughts are not important to you right now.
They just fade away, carried on the stream, and you feel so good.
And this relaxation feeling now flows from your neck into your shoulders, letting them drop down,
dropping down into the mattress even more, with the feeling of relaxation, moving from your shoulders into your arms, into your
your hands and then back again into your shoulders.
Up and down, like a soft massage and you feel so good.
And this relaxation feeling moves up and down your back and flows to your front,
into your chest, soothing the muscles here.
And then down into your stomach, soothing all the muscles in your abdomen,
letting you do even more deeper healing breath and you do one now is so good.
It's like a relaxing warmth spreading through your body, a subtle change of relaxation as you embrace it
and drift further into sleep, further into relaxation.
And the feeling moves in.
The feeling moves into your hips, relaxing all the muscles here and soothing them, and into your pelvis, relaxing the muscles here as well.
And you can always move, get more comfortable in this amazing bed of yours, which feels so nice.
and the feeling moves down into your thighs and calves,
soothing and detensing every muscle that reaches.
And it moves down into your feet, into your toes.
So every part of you has now been relaxed,
from your head to your toes.
And you can let this feeling flow now.
release it
release it like you would
a blown-up balloon
knit it release
and let the relaxation flow
through you now
everywhere throughout your body
doubly deeply
relaxing you again
up and down
to and fro
and it goes deeper
inside your body
relaxing all your muscles, all your bones, all your organs and cells.
So your body feels so good, totally relaxed and you feel amazing.
You feel so at ease and you're in a perfect state for sleep now.
But you don't need to try to sleep.
Sleep can come when it needs to sleep.
do. You can surrender to sleep when you need to, because you've slept well before as your body becomes
still. Your breath is so deeply relaxed now and there's absolutely nothing to hold on to. Just embrace
sleep when you need to. And whenever you choose to, you can allow yourself.
to let go.
To soften, to descend, to disappear into the space between the edges of your waking well
begins to soften and your thoughts just go quiet.
And through gravity your body sinks even more deeply and in your mind's eye a space.
Your subconscious mind has always known opens up.
a sanctuary from within.
A special place.
You may not even know how you arrived here,
but it begins to take shape.
Bit by bit as if a dream is starting to take hold,
and you can imagine now a quiet path,
a gentle winding trail beneath a twilight sky
where the stars above are just beginning to flick it into life, soft and silver,
and the air is cool and comforting, still and clean and safe.
Every slow step you drift deeper into this dreaming space, and you take in your surrounding.
This is your special place where you don't have to rush.
there's nowhere to be.
It's not like you're going somewhere.
It's more like you're returning here
to a place that's always existed.
Just beneath your thoughts
and you notice what's around you.
Maybe there are trees here,
tall and ancient.
Their branches swaying ever,
so gently. And maybe there's a beautiful garden and soft nature. And maybe there's a rhythmic
hush of waves meeting the shore nearby, as this is your space, your safe place,
all this world, this dreaming world of your own creation, where you are safe, where time
moves differently. This may be a place where sleep awaits for you. It could be a place you've
been to before or a place entirely new. You can just imagine sitting down. There may be a space
just where you can sit comfortably or even a bed where to lay down. But this is a soft,
familiar resting place. Tucked inside this tranquil sense.
and you can just enjoy it now for a few seconds.
Let the dreaming place hold you.
Let it fill in the colours, the sounds, the textures and sensations.
It doesn't even have to make sense, but you can enjoy it as you feel so good as you just relax.
In your mind's eye, in the bed, in your special place.
you begin to notice something else
a soft welcoming staircase appears
descending into quiet
the kind of stairs that feel like you're sinking deeper
and deeper
and in a moment you'll begin to descend these stairs
one step at a time
and with each step you may notice
your mind becoming heavier, your body becoming softer, and your awareness floating.
You go down the first step of ten now, and something softens and you feel a little heavier
throughout your body.
The ninth step, feeling deeper around.
And you step down again, and any remaining thoughts begin to fade away.
as if they're dissolving into the air behind you.
And seven, you feel doubly, deeply relaxed,
as each step, every part of you becomes more still,
more settled and more secure.
Six, nearly halfway now,
and you just feel so good, so relaxed.
5. Going deeper and deeper down, you may feel a little warmth in your chest,
or lightness in your limbs, or even forget your body altogether, floating down.
Step down to step four.
Drifting, dropping, disappearing into softness.
And step three.
Almost at the bottom now.
And again, you go deeper, even more, doubly, deeply relaxed again.
So close, you're at the final step, stepping off,
into the heart of your dreaming mind.
Where all effort ends and the rest begins.
So good and you feel so good.
and so amazing just resting here in this space,
this safe space between waking and dreaming.
And you may notice that my voice is becoming softer,
less important and more distant,
almost like it's part of the background,
like the hum of the world,
slowly winding down for the night,
and as the sound of these words continue,
continue, they can come and go actively in your mind, and they can lull you into comfort,
into peace and into sleep, because this is your time now, a time for you to drift off again,
because you've slept deeply before, and you can sleep deeply again, as sleep as a time as a
time when the body repairs itself. And it's doing that now and the mind reorganizes everything.
It doesn't need to think about anymore and heals itself, restores itself without any effort
without even trying. You know that thoughts are fading and you feel so good as your mind,
wanders again tonight.
It wanders and rest as your subconscious takes over
as you go deeper and deeper.
Descending into refreshing sleep
into complete relaxation,
where your body is completely relaxed
and you can do this time and again
remembering this feeling.
This lightness, this lightness,
this piece and every time you lay your head on the pillow your body remembers, you can remember
to listen to this recalling of my voice again.
Resting your head on the pillow is your signal to let go to feel at ease.
Resting in bed immediately associates you with deep sleep.
With each night, with each rest.
you go to sleep faster and deeper, staying asleep longer.
And if you wake up in the night again, you remember to sleep again with ease,
to return to it without doubt as your body knows how to sleep.
Your subconscious knows how to rest,
and you're already doing it now.
Sleep is wrapping around you.
Softly and completely,
lost flickers of thought dissolve,
and you feel so safe,
so comforted,
and you disappear into the dreaming.
You will let it happen now,
and you'll let it happen again,
and you let it happen tonight fully.
