I have also included a bonus bedtime story
of the classic tale of Rapunzel.
This will make up the first half of the recording,
but please feel free to skip to the second part,
Go to 17 minutes on the episode for the stress-busting spa.
Apunzel, there was once a man and a woman, who had long in vain wished for a child.
At length the woman hoped that God was about to grant her desire.
These people had a little window at the back of their house, from which a splendid garden could be seen,
which was full of the most beautiful flowers and herbs.
It was, however, surrounded by a high wall
and no one dared to go into it
because it belonged to an enchantress
who had great power
and was dreaded by all the world.
One day, the woman was standing by this window
and looking down into the garden, she saw a bed which was planted with the most beautiful Rampian,
and it looked so fresh and green that she longed for it and quite pined away and began to look pale and miserable.
Then her husband was alarmed and asked,
What ails you, dear wife?
She replied.
If I can't eat some of the rampion
which is in the garden behind our house
I shall die
The man who loved her thought
Sooner than let your wife die
Bring her some of the rampian yourself
Let it cost what it will
At twilight he clambered down over the wall
Into the garden of the enchanted
of the enchantress.
Hastily clutched a handful of rampion
and took it to his wife.
She at once made herself a salad of it
and ate it greedily.
It tasted so good to her,
so very good,
but the next day she longed for it three times as much as before.
If he was to have any rest, her husband,
must once more descend into the garden
In the gloom of the evening therefore he let himself down again
But when he had clambered down the wall
He was terribly afraid
For he saw the enchantress standing before him
How can you dare? She said with an angry look
Descend into my garden
And steal my rampion like a thief
you shall suffer for it and said he
let mercy take the place of justice
I only made up my mind to do it out of necessity
my wife saw your rampion from the window
and felt such a longing for it
that she would have died if she had not got some to eat
and the enchantress allowed her anger to be softened
and said to him
If the case be as you say
I will allow you to take away with you
As much rampion as you will
Only I make one condition
You must give me the child
Which your wife will bring into the world
It shall be treated well
And I will care for it like a mother
The man in his terror can send him
to everything and when the woman was brought to bed the enchantress appeared at once,
gave the child the name of Rapunzel and took it away with her.
Rapunzel grew into the most beautiful child under the sun.
When she was 12 years old, the Enchantress shut her into a tower,
which lay in a forest and had neither stairs nor door.
But quite at the top was a little window.
When the Enchantress wanted to go in,
she placed herself beneath it and cried,
Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair to me.
Rapunzel had magnificent long hair,
fine as spun gold.
and when she heard the voice of the enchantress, she unfastened her braided tresses and wound them round one of the hooks of the window above.
And then the hair fell 20 yells down, and the enchantress climbed up by it.
After a year or two it came to pass that the king's son rode through the forest and passed by the tower.
when he heard a song which was so charming that he stood still and listened.
This was Rapunzel, who in her solitude passed her time in letting her sweet voice resound.
The king's son wanted a climb up to her and looked for the door of the tower.
But none was to be found.
He rode home.
but the singing had so deeply touched his heart
that every day he went into the forest and listened to it
once when he was thus standing behind a tree
he saw that an entrantress came there
and he heard how she cried
Rapunzel Rapunzel
let your hair down to me
then Rapunzel let down the braids
of hair, and the enchantress climbed up to her.
If that is the ladder by which one mounts, I too will try my fortune, said he.
And the next day, when it began to grow dark, he went to the tower and cried,
Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair to me.
immediately the hair fell down and the king's son climbed up at first rapunzel was terribly frightened when a man such as her eyes had never yet beheld came to her but the king's son began to talk to her quite like a friend and told her that his heart had been so stirred that it had let him have no rest
and he had been forced to see her.
Then Rapunzel lost her fear
and when he asked her
if she would take him
for her husband
she saw that he was young and handsome
she thought
you will love me more
than old Dame Gopholders
and she said yes
and laid her hand in his
she said
I will willingly go away with you
But I do not know how to get down
Bring with you a scine of silk
Every time that you come
And I will weave the ladder with it
And when that is ready
I will descend
And you will take me on your horse
They agreed that until that time
You should come to her
Every evening
For the old woman came by day
The Enchantress remarked nothing of this
Until once Rapunzel said to her
Tell me Dame Gothel
How it happens that you are so much heavier for me
To draw up
When the young king's son
He is with me in a moment
Ah you wicked child cried the enchantress
What do I hear you say
I thought I had separated you
from all the world, and yet you have deceived me. In her anger she clutched Rapunzel's beautiful
tresses, wrapped them twice round her hand, seized a pair of scissors with a right and snip-snip,
they were cut off, and the lovely braids lay on the ground, and she was so pitiless that she took
away Paul Rapunzel into a desert where she had to live.
great grief and misery on the same day that she cast out Rapunzel.
However, the enchantress fastened the braids of hair, which she had cut off to the hook of the window.
And when the king's son came, she cried,
Rapunzel, Rapunzel let down your hair to me.
She let the hair down the king's son ascended.
But instead of finding his dearest Rapunzel,
He found the enchantress, who gazed at him with wicked and venomous looks.
Aha, she cried mockingly.
You would fetch your dearest, but the beautiful bird sits no longer singing in the nest.
The cat has got it and will scratch out your eyes as well.
Rapunzel is lost to you, and you will never see her again.
The king's son was beside himself with a pain in his despair
He leapt down from the tower
He escaped with his life
But the thorns into which he fell pierced his eyes
Then he wondered quite blind about the forest
Ain't nothing but roots and berries
And did naught but lament and weep
Over the loss of his dearest wife to be
Thus he roamed about in misery for some years
And at length came to the desert where Rapunzel
With the twins to which she had given birth a boy and a girl
Lived in wretchedness
He heard a voice and it seemed so familiar to him
That he went towards it
And when he approached Rapunzel knew him
And fell on his neck and wept
Two of her tears
wetted his eyes
and they grew clear again
and he could see with them
as before
he led her to his kingdom
where he was joyfully received
and they lived
for a long time afterwards
happy
and contented
in the meditation spa
the stress spa were all stresses
would be washed away
firstly in your bed
it's always wise to make sure your breathing
is slow and steady
and if you can take some deep breath
through your stomach
through your nose and when I say in through your stomach
I mean into your stomach as you breathe deeply
and then just allow the air to exhale
like you're letting the air
out of a balloon just gently pushing out,
let your body just naturally do the work.
Taking deep breath, reduces stress, promotes calm
and stops any stressful hormones.
Forming, so if you think you are over-breathing
and breathing fast,
or what is called breathing through your shoulders,
concentrate on your stomach and take those deep breaths in
and you'll soon find
when this takes you
into a peaceful place of relaxation
but please get as comfortable as you can in your bed
into the position you like the most if it's on your back
on your side on your front
and do what's best for you have a little stretch
and stretch and tense those muscles
and then relax
and maybe have another little stretch
and stretch those muscles out and run.
We want to make sure we're in the perfect place for sleep.
Mind's eye and want us to think to the stress-busting spa.
We can imagine a door and we're greeted by a nice person and we go in.
And in front of us, there's some candles in a room flickering away.
All music plays.
There's a massage table.
In front of us, we're all ready for the massage.
and we get on the table and it's very comfortable.
We put our head in the whole fit your head into and take some tea breaths again.
And the masseuse is now here.
Just take in the natural music for a second.
And there's some nice smells as well floating around the room.
And the masseuse takes some massage oil
and rubs it in their hands.
and asks you to smell it, to see if it's the oil.
You would like to be having massaged into your tissues,
into your muscle tissues, and you take a deep breath in,
to the hands in front of you,
and it's had a lovely smell, a beautiful smell.
And you say yes, you want to perceive.
And the masseuse starts gently,
massaging your neck muscles.
very gently,
getting any of the tightness
and rubbing their fingers up and down the neck.
In the grooves of the fingertips,
gently strode the skin.
And the tightness of your neck seems to go now.
You go down to your shoulders.
And they massage your shoulders now.
A little bit more firm,
but getting all the tension out.
You drop your shoulders
and you might act out a little size
your shoulders are gently being massaged.
It feels so wonderful.
You might have had a massage before.
You know how relaxing it can feel.
You might have never had one before.
And this is your first time experiencing
a deep body relaxation of your muscles and tissues.
Just becoming so relaxed.
It feels so good as the masseuse goes down and massages the top of your back
and applying a little bit more pressure.
But as the pressure is applied,
the muscles relax even more.
It's just like when you did those stretches or you've done a stretch before.
You might be feeling a little tight, but as you stretch,
the muscles naturally stretch out, at least the stretch,
at least the stretch, your muscles feel a bit warmer and a bit nicer.
As you've activated those muscle fibres and those muscle tissues,
it just feels so good.
Your body rewards you for doing these stretches,
just as your body is rewarding you now,
as the masseuse deeply massages those tissues.
It feels wonderful as they move into the lower bat.
From the shoulders they move upwards and go down your arms,
massaging all the arm muscles, releasing any built up tension and stress.
It feels so nice, it feels so good.
Go back again, plodied their fingers down and to the top of the legs and down the legs.
Massaging all those big muscles there.
there, from your thighs down into your calves, removing any stress of the day, any tightness,
any weariness, being dissolved away now.
The music, and you smell the oils.
You can see the candle lights gently flicker on the floor.
This really is a peaceful place, or the masseuse.
You're relaxing your legs from the top to the bottom.
All those tense muscles to relax, glide the hands up and down.
and down to your feet and gently, very gently, rub your feet and your toes.
You feel so relaxed and even have a little sparkly feeling coming towards you.
Feels so good and you gently roll over.
Some Pseuss now cleans their hands,
inns to give you a head massage,
massaging and gently kneading your scalp.
Feel so nice and just go deeper, deeper down.
And they get some new oils out.
Eat activate them again in their hands, them together.
They put their hands in front of your nose again.
And you take a deep breath in and it smells even better than before.
You didn't think it would smell better.
It matches your taste and the smells you like.
They've done massaging your head and your scalp down to your forehead, little circles with their fingertips,
and you feel all the lines in your face relax.
In your forehead detents, eyes feel so light as they use the pads on their fingers to gently, very gently around your eyes and you feel your eyes relaxing.
As the fingertips move down your cheeks, your jaw gently drops.
and any tension there
disappears as your mouth
if it was clenched
smile drops
your face now feels
totally and utterly relaxed
as the fingers glide down
round your neck
and
to the top of your shoulders
and it feels so good
and if your eyes weren't closed already
just take a deep breath in again
and take in
the sounds of the room, sounds of the music, and you just take it all in.
The masseuse now tells you the bath is ready, and you move into the next room,
and the masseuse close the door behind her as they leave the room.
You take in your surroundings again, and it's a luxurious bathroom.
Deep comfort of you is a large,
circular bath and you can see the steam rising which are foamed up from the oils
which have been put into the bath you decide to step in as you step in you can feel the
warmth the water as it goes down your legs as you slowly lower yourself in it's such a good
temperature the smells and the water just relax your body or the age
and pains away that you might have from the day.
And behind you is a soft, fluffy white towel
and you lower your head and it feels so nice, it feels so good
as you're reclined in the bath
and any build-ups or any dirt
is gently washed off a big sponge in the bath
and you gently wring it out
and glide it over your arms and your body
as the massage oils which have absorbed in your skin has left some excess and that gently floats into the bath water.
And as you gently wash your body, you feel so clean and you stop washing yourself.
And you just recline like words with your head on the towel.
You take in the smells, the soft steam
and the water is so cleansing, actually.
Water now feels like you're having a massage.
It's so amazing and it's so wonderful.
Time to leave the bath now.
When you stand up,
look at one of the spas,
fluffy towel and wrap it around you
and dry yourself and get a big white rope and put it on.
And it feels so good against your skin, you walk off into another room.
I admit it is a bedroom.
It could be your bedroom or it could be that you've imagined before.
Or it could be completing you.
Clean and pristine.
You put these on and the clean bed clothes feel so good against your clean.
skin, you walk up to the bed and you realize and sheets have just been changed.
Gently pull them to one side to allow yourself to slide into the bed and put the sheets back on you.
Sensation of your clean skin, the clean bed clothes and the clean sheets and the clean sheets.
all together that make you feel so relaxed and peaceful, ready to sleep.
Because you've taken the time to look after yourself, you've done this all in your mind's eye.
Because we have to take time to look after ourselves.
It's so important.
And again, you take a little stretch and get so comfortable.
It's in to the big and your body sinks into the bat.
thing is just perfect and just right
and all stresses of the day have gone
