I want you to get yourself into a very comfortable position.
lie in the bed
with your head
gently resting on the pillow
allow your arms
to rest softly by your sides
or wherever
feels most comfortable for you
and grant
your body permission
to remain completely still
for the duration
of this recording
there is nothing you need to do tonight
nothing you need to fix
nothing you need to think about or solve
the only thing you are here to do
is to allow yourself to rest
so let's begin with some very slow
gentle breathing together
I want you to breathe in
slowly through your nose
filling your belly first
then your chest
hold for a moment and I'll breathe out very slowly through your mouth
emptying every last drop of air
letting your body sink a little deeper with each exhale
good let's do that again breathe in through your nose
slowly and deeply filling your body up
and then breathe out slowly and completely and just let go once more.
Breathe in deep and slow and then breathe out even slower this time.
Releasing everything that you've been carrying today.
That's good.
Very good.
Notice how your body already feels lighter, heavier,
just after those few breaths.
That is your nervous system,
beginning to shift,
moving away from the busy,
and a state of the day,
and moving towards the neat,
restful state of healing sleep.
Tonight I want you to bring gentle awareness
to something remarkable
that lives inside your body
running from the base of your brain
all the way down through your throat
through your chest and into your body
there is a long
wandering nerve
your vagus nerve
this nerve
is your body's natural pathway to calm
it is sometimes called
the rest and restore nerve
and when it is
gently activated. It sends a powerful signal to every organ and every muscle and every cell in
your body that says it is safe to let go now. The day is done. There is nothing left to guard
against. And you may just rest. And for many of us, that signal has been a muffled.
day after day, week after week. Stress builds and settles into the body, not just in the mind,
but physically in the muscles on the neck, in the tightness of the chest, in the belly that holds its breath.
Stress becomes stalled and the body forgets how to fully let go.
Tonight we're going to change that.
We're going to gently wake up that vagus nerve
and allow it to carry its calming message
all the way.
From the top of your head,
down to the very tips of your toes,
and all you need to listen and allow.
And we'll need to take another slow breath in
through your nose.
And this time,
as you breathe out through your mouth
I want you to make it the longest
slowest exhale you can
let the breath trail out
like a long gentle sigh
to the very end
that's good
that long slow exhale
is one of the most powerful ways
to activate your vagus nerve
with each extended breathes
out. You were sending your body a direct message. You were saying I am safe, I can release
and I can rest. And let's do that once more. Breathing it slowly, filling your many completely,
long and snow, training the air out, letting it take with it any kindness, any more.
any health stress and that's good, that's so wonderful you're doing so well awareness.
Through your body, from the feet upland, imagine that the calming signal of your finger's nerve
is spreading through each area we've seen, softening everything it touches as begin with your feet.
Bring your awareness down now.
to your feet and your toes
notice how they feel
perhaps they feel tired
from carrying you through the day
and as you become aware of them
allow them to finally let go and relax
feel the muscles in your feet
soften and spread
perhaps you notice
a gentle warmth or tingling their
relaxation begins to flow and energy begin to move upward into your calves and relax these muscles have been working hard they can simply let go
and do you feel them growing heavy and loose and relax and you breathe in and breathe out slowly sending the message that's good
to let one into your thighs, those large muscles simply releasing, hanging down heavily from becoming loose and languid.
And if your mind is beginning to wonder now, that's okay.
That just means you are relaxing and a feeling very languid.
Your subconscious mind is listening carefully.
To every word I say, you feel yourself, letting go a little bit of a little.
lips and melv relax now. So much tension is stormed here. The tension of sitting and racing.
Of holding yourself upright during the day and now that tension is no longer needed.
You let it drain away, softening and sinking.
This is somewhere many of us hold. Perhaps you can feel it.
A subtle tightening, embracing that has been there so long.
You have stopped noticing it.
Stop noticing it a slow, deep breath right into the small of your back and as you breathe out.
Imagine that storm tension dissolving and releasing.
Like ice, beginning to melt in warm water.
That's good.
So very good, that releasing energy.
Moving upward, through your abdomen, your stomach.
your stomach and digestive organs
this is an area
though your vagus nerve
passes directly through
softening here
a quiet and winding of everything
held in
if there is any anxiety
stalled here
any knocks to begin to listen
to soften
and to let go
and breathe in through your nose
and releasing
moves down to you
your chest, your heart alone, low exhale. Your heart rate naturally begins to settle into a calm,
steady. This is your finger's nerve. Doing its beautiful work, signaling your heart to slow,
to settle and to rest. Now the energy moves up in just a fraction more towards the mat, releasing, letting go.
That's so good, that's wonderful, and you look that more the most important.
Because this is where your vagus nerve travels close to the surface
around the sides of the throat and you feel the muscles.
On either side of your throat is softening now,
the back of your neck releasing muscle is simply in white and as your neck relaxes.
I want you to gently put your lips very slightly in a minute of space.
Between your teeth become completely loose and free.
Your tongue resting softly in your motion spreads across your face,
the muscles around your eyes,
softening and smoothing out the tiny muscles of your forehead,
releasing.
Your scalp relaxing.
all the way to the top of your head, your entire body, from your feet to the top of your head, is now bathed in a warm, calming energy.
And that energy is speaking to your vagus nerve.
And your vagus nerve is speaking to every soul in your body and the message it is carrying as this.
It is safe
and you can let go
take you even deeper
in a moment
and we're going to guide you
through a very special kind of body scan
this is not just about relaxing the muscles
though your body
is already beautifully relaxed
this is about going deeper
into the layers of tissue and memory
where stress becomes stalled
over time because we all carry more than we realise.
Life asks a great deal of us.
We show up day after day,
holding our nerves steady through difficult conversations and difficult days
and difficult seasons.
It keeps, we consciously visit those stalled places
and give them permission to release.
They remain,
quietly tensing, embracing
beneath the surface
and to visit those places
gently and kindly without effort or force
and again
focus on your feet
and ask them to release
stress and a gentle heaviness
in the feet
slowly relaxes
and imagine a grey like mist
beginning to rise upwards
out of the tissues
of your feet
wear any stalled up stress from day in your life
has been
you like steam rising off warm ground after rate
and after it rises
it simply dissolves it's gone
it's released
and the space behind is a warm golden light
and you feel cleaner
lighter and freer
that's so good
you're doing wonderfully
and this relaxing feeling moves up
your calves into your lower legs
as you breathe in and out slowly
imagining the release
the stored stress
moving out of your lower legs
like that fine grey mist
rising and dissolving
of your vagus nerves calm energy
and it goes into your thighs
and your hips
as you're breathing and releasing
breathing and releasing
with each along slow exhale
more stored stress
lifts out of your body
and disappears
it goes out of your muscles
and your tissues
and you become lighter with each breath
and this feeling flows into your torso
into your belly
a place
where many people carry the deepest stormed
emotions they have. Fear and worry. This place now, a long deep breath, right into the centre of
your belly and as he breathe out, you feel that area soften and open and he held releasing.
The tiny sound there, anything they're held for days, weeks, months or years, is just gently unwinding.
and you might feel a physical sensation.
Perhaps some warm tingling.
Perhaps something releasing.
And that is your body,
responding to the healing that is happening right now.
As he breathed again, deep in and out,
long as slow,
weighing his nerves and doing beautiful,
but you feel so good.
Chin has been released.
And the feeling moves up into your upper chest,
releasing or tension.
when you don't have to hold on to it anymore.
You can carry it into sleep tonight.
And you breathe in long and slow letting go.
Shoulders and neck.
Where we carry the weight to the day with us.
And your shoulders can drop.
They're no longer needed for carrying heavy weights.
The task is done.
So just release and drop your shoulders.
Let your neck settle into the pillow.
And he softened as your jaw, your face, your head just feels doubly relaxed now.
And any stress just lifts off your body like a fine grey mist.
Jenny rising, gently dissolving, leaving behind only stillness.
And you quiet and any calm and your whole body is deeply released with every area of storms.

stillness that flows into every part of you. From the very tips of your toes, in your
beautifully relaxed state, I want to invite you to a very special place, a place you know well,
A place that exists only for you in your mind's eye
Imagine yourself at the edge of a forest and dusk
The trees are ancient and tall
And the leaves catch the last golden night
On the evening and hold it
Glowing softly all around you
The air is warm.
Just the right temperature
and you can feel the slightest breath of breeze
across your skin, beneath your feet.
The ground is soft.
Perhaps there is grass or moss.
Something soft and cool.
You are completely safe here.
There is nothing here that means you any harm.
there is nothing here that needs anything from you
and as you stand at the edge of this forest
you notice a path ahead of you
leaning gently inward through the trees
the path is wide and well lit
with a golden evening light
and it feels entirely welcoming
entirely safe
begin to walk slowly along this place
As you walk you notice the sounds of the forest around you.
Perhaps the distant sound of a stream.
The soft calling of birds settling into their nests for the night.
The whisper of the leaves and the breeze.
Every sound you hear, including my voice,
only serves to take you deeper asleep,
deeper into healing and deeper into a small clearing.
small clearing and in the centre of the clearing there is a still dark pole. The surface of the water is perfectly flat and calm,
reflecting the first stars of the evening, appearing in the sky above. You sit down on the edge of this ball, on the soft morning into the still water and you notice the reflection looking back at you, it looks rested and from. This
This is you, the real you, beneath the stress, beneath the tiredness, and you stay here for a while,
beside this still water, breathing slowly and peacefully, your vagus nerve restoring with this gentle healing
signal, like a healing humming and your body continues to release and restore with every breath.
very deeply at peace, drifting beautifully towards sleep.
And as you rest here beside the still water, I want to offer you some gentle words
for your subconscious mind to receive.
You do not need to think about them or analyze them.
Simply allow them to drift down into the soft open space within you.
Where they were settled like seeds and warmer.
The nervous system knows how to heal every night as I sleep.
My body releases stored stress and restores itself.
I am safe and my body knows it is safe.
My vagus nerve is active and working and I'm in rest.
I am restoring and I wake each feeling lighter than the night before.
I release what I cannot control.
I release what is not mine to carry, and sleep is my natural state.
My body knows how to do this, with each night of deep healing sleep.
I become more calm and more clear, more fully myself, and I'm heeding now, and account slowly now from tenor I say you'll find yourself drifting.
Just a little deeper asleep.
and it will deeper into healing rest
until the time I reach one
you'll be very very deeply asleep
drifting down deeper and deeper
with every breath out
releasing a little more going deeper
the sounds around you
only helping you go deeper asleep

deeper now
your subconscious mind
completely open and receptive, taking in only water's mood and healing for you,
drifting, floating, letting halfway down and feeling so wonderfully sleepy, so heavy and
warm and safe. The last traces of waking consciousness, beginning to soften and fade,
so deeply asleep now, your body continuing as healing with the vagus nerve, carrying its
mutable calming signal, almost there now, resting so peacefully, so completely.
One, leavely, leavely, sleep. You have done something wonderful tonight. You have given your
body and your nervous system, the gift of deep conscious release. You have visited the small
places, are ones that carry the weight of everything you have been through, and have given them
permission to let go. And as you sleep tonight, your body will continue this healing. Your
vagus nerve will continue to guide you need better to rest of restoration, and with every breath,
you take to sleep, your body releases more of what it no longer needs to carry. You deserve this
rest. You deserved if you were like, you deserve to wake up tomorrow. And it's all freer than
you were today. And I'm proud of you for taking this time for yourself and the rest of the night.
