Starting point is 00:00:00 This episode is brought to you by Caleo Legends. I look up and I see this red wall. Mom, what's that? And I follow it with my finger. Hold the phone. Hold the ancient phone. In the name of Jesus, I rebuke you. Be gone.
Starting point is 00:00:18 You are not to come near my child. Hey, everybody. Welcome to this episode of the graveyard shift. What is going on? I don't know. I started laughing for no reason. You killed it. That was actually cool.
Starting point is 00:00:36 Thanks. Don't let anybody. That wasn't a sound effect. That's my own. Yeah. That's just like my vocal talent, you know. Yeah. I actually have an album coming out soon.
Starting point is 00:00:44 It's called really long years, short days. Is it a rapist? Is it like rap rap? No. Please stop saying rapist. So I'm not going to stop. You say it a lot. And I'm going to keep saying you a lot.
Starting point is 00:00:58 I am. Brian said it from the pulpit the other day. I did. Okay. Oh, no, he did. That's fair. That's fair. Go ahead.
Starting point is 00:01:04 Keep welcoming. us the show. I'm your host, Ben Garrett. If you're first time you're here, glad to, you're probably not here anymore, uh, joined by my co-host, Brian Sovette. And it is so good to be here in the graveyard shift. Exactly. And yeah, with our in-person guest. In-person. Always fun. In-person, member of refuge church, Hannah. Hannah, say hello. Hello. That's all. Boom. People are wondering at this point, how many members of your church have had crazy ghost experiences. It's not, not our fault guys. If you build it, they will come. We started Hon. Cosmos.
Starting point is 00:01:39 And I'm pretty sure you were already here before Honda Cosmos. This was when I went to Pentecostal Church. Okay. See, this wasn't us. Okay. Everyone knows the rules. We start out the episodes by asking our guest a icebreaker question. A totally unnecessary icebreaker question. Completely unnecessary 100%.
Starting point is 00:01:55 Nobody asked for it. And the question is, Hannah, I want to know what is your favorite breed of dog and why? Wow. Oh, man. I know a lot of breeds of dogs. Really? And my husband doesn't know a lot.
Starting point is 00:02:09 And so the other day, there was a St. Bernard walking by. And I was like, babe, look, it's a St. Bernard. And he's like, I know what that is. I know that one. He's like, who's St. Bernard? Yeah. Oh, boy. I hate to say it, but it is an American lab.
Starting point is 00:02:26 I did not want a lab for the longest time because I thought they were boring. But they're not. They're not. Yeah. Why would you hate to say this? They've got a great personalities. No, they're good. I'm going to breed mine to Pastor Sends dog.
Starting point is 00:02:36 Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah. We're going to get some Hondo puppies up here. Well, arranged marriages. Yeah, wow. They've begun their courtship. Oh, wow. Let them go on a date or something.
Starting point is 00:02:47 How long does the courtship for dogs like five seconds? It's pretty much just five seconds. I haven't done that yet, so we're not sure. I guess we're going to find out. Shout out Hondo. That's a great answer to. Ben is like an American lab. In what way?
Starting point is 00:03:01 Every way. every conceivable. You're adorable. Soft. No, dude. Adorable. I like labs. I never. Great personality.
Starting point is 00:03:13 Probably doesn't have fleas. A lot of hair loss. Mouth breather. Hey, you know what? Now we're getting out of. I'm just kidding. Mouth breather. Oh.
Starting point is 00:03:23 My, my mouth is cleaner than your average human's mouth. Exactly. Because the average human. Just by the numbers is like an Indian. Yeah. And the average one. And I brush my teeth and they don't. Do they?
Starting point is 00:03:41 That's why. We have somehow connected this to racism already. Hey. And that was clean. Let's sidestep that. So Hannah, moving on. I do.
Starting point is 00:03:51 You have a story to tell us. Here's what we're going to do. We're going to try our absolute darnness to stay out of your way. Spoiler alert. We're going to get in the way. That's great. So just bear with us. But we want to let you take.
Starting point is 00:04:02 it away and we want to let you tell your story and we will be along for the ride and then we'll all have fun talking about it. So go, whenever you're ready, you go for it. Caleo Legends debut series, Chronicles of the Elohim, explores the divine beings referenced in scripture and mythology, framing their story within a biblical worldview. They're asking big questions. And what part does humanity play in the divine counsel? Chronicles of the Elohim is a line of premium action figures. that takes a supernatural worldview and turns it into legendary collectibles,

Starting point is 00:06:23 to join thousands of Christian men and get 10% off in annual membership. So, a little bit of background on me. I grew up Christian. in a Pentecostal church. And so hearing people speaking tons was not out of the ordinary. I may and may not have been on the flag team. Oh, hang, the flag team.
Starting point is 00:06:52 I forgot about it. I can't go. I can't roll them good. That's actually kind of cool. My church had a flag team. We should bring it. That's just, we bring it back. It was mostly women.
Starting point is 00:07:00 Did your church have a stomp team? No. Okay, mine didn't. It was all homeschool white kids. It did not make any sense. Oh, gosh. Anyway, wow. Okay. Yeah, no. So that was mostly choreographed, but then, like, also led by the spirit, you know?
Starting point is 00:07:13 Yeah. But that's beside the point, just to get the vibes across. So that was my church environment. Also, the book, I don't know if you guys are familiar with it. It's Frank Peretti's This Present Darkness. Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah, I figured y'all would be. So that was really, like, common knowledge.
Starting point is 00:07:36 And the deep lore. Yeah. Yeah. And so it's like, okay, the spiritual realm is real. And so. So true. As a young person, my mom was very like, the demons exist. Angels exist. The spiritual realm is real.
Starting point is 00:07:51 And she would tell me that pretty young. And so I would always kind of be a little bit like, okay. So there's things, but there's more than just things, which I think you all know about. Oh, so true. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. And she was so real for that. Sounds like your mom's great.
Starting point is 00:08:09 She was. She really did give me good tools on working through fears that I had from, like, different things I would think was a spiritual attack or whatever encounter. But so, yeah, that's kind of my, like, Christian background. And then my parents got divorced when I was nine. So we moved in to live with my aunt. And her house was really unique because it was like my aunt and her. her brother, so my aunt and uncle, but not married, had my grandparents' house, which was huge. Couldn't afford it on their own. It was in San Diego. And so we would rent out rooms to people from church,
Starting point is 00:08:49 people, military family, because we were also military. And so that brought in an interesting crowd that I was just like had in my household environment from a young age. And so there, there was this one guy who, well, my aunt. aunt was kind of heart for like characters. She would be like, oh, it's okay. They just have some critters on them or like spiritual baggage. And I'm like, that's just demons. Let me just, let me just one of, one of like older women's most toxic trait is that they
Starting point is 00:09:25 love to invite quote unquote characters into their home. Yes. On a regular basis. Or and Thanksgiving Christmas. Yeah, exactly. To live there. Potential serial killers. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:35 Yeah, yeah. You're renting the couch. Yeah. That happened. This is a good idea. Anyway, we should do this. So one of, let's call him Derek, that probably is his real name, but I haven't ever seen him. So that's fine. So he was getting off of drugs.
Starting point is 00:09:53 I was like nine, probably younger because I had spent a lot of time in that house growing up anyway, so I just don't remember exactly when. But I was like walking down the hallway at night because our room, The bathroom was on the other side of the house. He had to walk a while, and it was scary. And I just hear him screaming at his own situations. Like, get away for me. I'm not going to do that.
Starting point is 00:10:15 Go! And it was just like, just screaming out of the bedroom. And I'm just like hearing these kinds of things. And then also knowing that that is a spiritual attack because there's nobody in there. And you see in some things that are probably there because he's feeling it. And, you know, drugs make you see things in different ways. And so that's just kind of a little taste of like just there was a lot of weird people. That was just one of them.
Starting point is 00:10:41 Did you make it to the bathroom? Yeah. I'm just saying like the odds of me turning around going the other way as an eight or nine year old are high. It was just irritatingly common. Now that I look back at my childhood, I was like, guys. Young Hannah like walking down. Oh, Derek. Another one.
Starting point is 00:11:00 Be quiet for once. Well, I was freaked out at that. But now, like, as an adult, looking back at, like, some things that I was around, I was like, um, why did I feel like I had to protect my mom from that? I was a kid. Yeah. I should have not known about that. Um, but that's just the nature of a fluctuating house and divorce.
Starting point is 00:11:21 Um, so anyway, that was kind of my background. And, um, so that house was in San Diego. My mom had a brother in New Mexico and a sister in Kansas. So we were driving from San Diego to Kansas, stopped in New Mexico to see my uncle. Now, my uncle is gay and has been, I think, got married before it was legal kind of thing, has had the same partner forever, which is unique. I hear, I don't know statistically. Based.
Starting point is 00:12:01 In 2023, Indigo Sundries became one of our sponsors. At the time, their business was little more than a side hobby generating a couple hundred dollars a month. But because of their partnership with us and because all of you chose to support them, they've grown enough to make it their full-time livelihood. This is what happens when Christians support Christians. Our communities are strengthened and faithful businesses thrive. So if you're a Christian business owner who wants to reach thousands of like-minded people and grow your company, we'd love to partner with you. Email us at Advertising at new Christendompress.com. I'm sorry? Based, based anecdote, based note, based demographic. What she said was based.
Starting point is 00:12:41 Exactly. In commentary. about promiscuity in certain communities. That's what I meant. See what it sounded like is that you were calling the gay monogamy based. As long as it's monogamy. I want to make a public retraction. If you thought I was saying that, then I wasn't. You could have given me a thousand guesses as to what you were going to say.
Starting point is 00:13:04 And based would not have made the list. I meant noting, okay. Yeah. Editing is important. I got you. Evan. Anyway. Leave it in. I'll stand by it. In context. Okay. So I'm based. That's the point. Yeah. That was the, Hannah's based.
Starting point is 00:13:22 Cool. So, um, so yeah. So that's, yeah. So his whole life kind of thing. And, um, my mom and aunt not approve of it will still come see you kind of thing. Um, I hadn't seen him a ton just because he lived out of state, and so I wasn't super familiar with what it was going to be like. I knew his lifestyle was wrong, but we loved him anyway kind of vibe. And so he also is an artist and is like very nature-oriented. I think like, I think he's like a Wiccan. I don't know a ton about that. Oh my gosh.
Starting point is 00:14:00 He's a gay wizard. He's a gay wizard. Your uncle is a gay wizard. He calls himself a wizard. Every freshman art student who is gay is this. guy. Man, except for the monogamy.
Starting point is 00:14:12 That sucks. Yeah, I don't know about that. It sucks to him because it's like double hell. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You go to it twice.
Starting point is 00:14:23 He has a tree in his front yard that's like 100 years old that I think he like hangs upside down in and like worships. Oh my gosh. For like healing. Because of the. Yeah. Because of the, um.
Starting point is 00:14:37 Because of the, because of the wizardry. Yeah, yeah. The powers because of it has a name. He's like a bat. The stuff people do. It's like Isaiah when he's like, you have a tree.
Starting point is 00:14:50 You make some firewood from it and then you make a god with it and you worship it. He's hanging upside down on this tree. Oh yeah, I worship this tree. Yeah. You're like, what? The tree? My tree.
Starting point is 00:15:02 Look what you did. My tree. It's a real Griswold family gay. Wow. It's a beautiful tree that is desecrated. That poor tree. It's like I'm just trying to glorify God. I know,
Starting point is 00:15:11 I'm trying to be in a tree. This wizard thinks I'm God. I'm trying to be a Bible someday. Sheesh. Poor tree. Yeah. Shout out tree. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:31 And I'm also like, okay. And he's like, sending prayers your way. And I'm like, and he's like, sending prayers your way. And I'm like, get away. I don't want to. He's confused about who God is, who you pray to. He's confused.
Starting point is 00:15:46 Yeah. No, he's actually prayed in my presence for lunch. He's like, can I pray? And I was like, yeah. Wait. Oh, no. Just knee jerk. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:55 And he said this fairly normal prayer. And then amen. No Jesus. No in this name. No nothing. No Allah or whatever. Did he pray to the tree? Who are we talking to?
Starting point is 00:16:06 Maybe. She was far away. Who we talking to? Was it a girl tree? Yeah. because he's gay. So, like, makes more sense. Does it?
Starting point is 00:16:14 I don't know. I don't want to think about it anymore. So, yeah. So that's, that's my uncle. And so we got to this house. I'm like seven at the time, mind you. And my aunt and my mom are all catching up on old stories. They have seen his house before.
Starting point is 00:16:30 So I was walking around. And also, oh, wait, we got into Albuquerque driving before we got to myself. Sorry. And just the presence. of all the ancient Indian artwork and new age vibes was heavy on me as a kid. Albuquerque is one of the worst places on earth. It is. There's something about it.
Starting point is 00:16:50 I've never been there. You haven't? No, I just heard. I've just heard stuff. Isn't it like the rape capital of the U.S.? What? No, I'm not making that up. You keep going.
Starting point is 00:17:01 I'm just wondering, because I was going to say there's something about Albuquerque. There is. A lot of new age. Yeah. And so I felt that even as a. kid. And I wasn't like going about things very spiritually. I was just trying to not be bored in the back of the car. So we got there. I was walking around his house, looking at all of his artwork, and just feeling really, just getting such a weird, sad, somewhat creepy vibe, a little bit icky
Starting point is 00:17:30 with the connotations of his life. And there was just really unique colors and all those things that just, I don't know. The way he mixes them just made me feel like, oh, there's something more to this. I didn't know how to describe it. But yeah. So we're all having a good time, eating dinner. You know, relatively good time. Good enough time. Yeah. My mom and my aunt, they were playing like a homemade apples to apples game that was all like their childhood. So they were all laughing and having a good time. But I'm over here going, I don't know any of this. And that's freaking me out. And so like, did dinner's over. It's time for me to go to bed because I'm a kid. And so I'm walking down the hallway with my mom. And I look up and I see this red wall. Do the production on the show
Starting point is 00:18:23 is insane. It's not scripted at all. We did not plan that. Sorry. I'm sorry. No, I'm sorry. Actually. Wait to go, Ben. So you see the red wall. So I'm walking down the hall. And at the, just the end of the hall in sort of like a just a really I don't want to say commanding position but it was it felt really authoritative because there was a light on it and you just see
Starting point is 00:18:50 this statue of Satan dancing that's the only way I can describe it was it there? Yeah. Okay so you weren't just like seeing it no no no we haven't got there yet so he so he put that there yeah all right yeah like it was in his home in like in all
Starting point is 00:19:08 where all the bedrooms and all the living happens, just there. Classic Albuquerque. Well, classic gay wizard. In Albuquerque. Yeah. Yeah. And so it was just, it was just thriving there. And I remember going, whoa, that's terrifying.
Starting point is 00:19:25 This is not right. I have to go to bed next to that thing. And so, and my mom was like, I think she saw that. And she went, oh, like, said a little prayer. Valid. and so we go into our room we're trying to go to sleep and I'm in bed
Starting point is 00:19:46 mom's next to me reading she was doing some things before she's going to go out again and I look up at the foot of the bed and I sit up because I'm not sure what I'm seeing and I want to make sure I'm seeing what I'm seeing and I see this black wispy bouncing form, bouncing and trailing at the end of my bed over my feet, just back and forth.
Starting point is 00:20:14 And I go, Mom, what's that? And I follow it with my finger. And she puts her book down and she looks and she says, what's what? And I said, that. And this point, I'm like freaked out that. And she can't see it still, but she knows, she knows what I'm seeing. And so she sat up and she's like, in the name of Jesus, I rebuke you. Be gone. You are not to come near my child. We were, you know, children of God. All the, she just went on for a while. And it just boofed, zooped, and
Starting point is 00:20:46 just left the room. Let's freaking go. Yeah. The Pentecostals are prepared for that exact situation. Credit where it is. You got to get on credit. The flag team, not so much. But that yeah. Chef's kiss. That's epic. It was. You know what it reminds me of? You know those videos that you see on
Starting point is 00:21:04 Instagram of people like chilling in their house and their dog is just staring at the corner of the room barking wildly. I was the dog. Yeah. Yeah. 100%. That those videos always creep me out. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:17 That's terrifying. Yeah. Were the lights on? Yes. See that? Yeah. Because it was black and wispy and bouncing. Like just boop bloop and like just around the bed like just like can I hang out here?
Starting point is 00:21:30 Can I? And I was like, mom. This. And then it was just instant. Like, oh, nope. Oh, that's so sad. I don't know if it left the house. She prayed all night, I'm sure.
Starting point is 00:21:42 We left right first thing in the morning. And I really, I really have no doubt that what I saw was what I saw. And so, yeah, but that was really crazy. Dang. I don't know if she told my uncle. I'm sure he would have been like, hmm, splices, you know. He'd have been like, oh, yes, of course. That's just asmodious.
Starting point is 00:22:02 Yeah, my, the demon I keep around. By familiar. Yeah. I send him on tasks to curse people. Well, that's the thing. If he practices Waken, Wicca, if he's a wizard, then he would have a familiar spirit. Basically. Yeah, more or want to.
Starting point is 00:22:18 No, that's crazy. Well, talk more about familiar spirits because that was something my mom would pray against. Really? Yeah. I just never asked. Your mom seems pretty cool. She is. What's her name?
Starting point is 00:22:28 April? Shout out April. She talked to you after church one day. Are you ready to record Hont of Cosmos? Yeah, for sure. Let me just grab my Gratotelo lip balm, my Gratotelo whipped balm for smooth, moist, moisturized skin, and also my Gratio. Why do you need all of that?
Starting point is 00:22:42 Dude, I got to feel moist. I got to feel fresh for every episode. Otherwise, I'm not going to perform well. I guess it's a good thing then that Gratotel uses simple organic ingredients instead of synthetic fillers most skin care products use. I'm moisturized. I'm thinking smooth. I'm thinking moist.

Starting point is 00:24:19 No, I'll be sorry. I'm the one who... Way to go, Ben. I'm the one who should be sorry. You did a sermon on prayer and she was like... Oh, April! Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:27 Oh, I was thinking of another April. Sure. No, actually, I'm pretty sure. She's taller. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Taller than your average woman.
Starting point is 00:24:38 Yep. You know, usually women are short. That's true. One of the many defects of their kind. I'm kidding. I'm kidding. Hey, that was a joke. I'm pretty tall, I think.
Starting point is 00:24:48 Look, that was a joke. We have a woman here. We're all friends. Familiar spirits. The familiar spirit is the spirit. It's a demonic spirit that the witch or the wizard attaches itself, himself or herself to. And then the spirit, especially for like mediumship and necromancy, the spirit pretends to be the spirit of whoever they're trying to interact with who died.
Starting point is 00:25:16 Oh. So like the witch at Indoor in 1st Samuel 28, she had a familiar spirit. And like part of the reason that story is so cool and crazy is because she was surprised that the actual ghost of. Samuel came up to talk to Saul. Not because she wasn't expecting a ghost, but she was expecting her ghost to be pretending to be Samuel, and then it wasn't. And she was like,
Starting point is 00:25:44 hold the phone. Hold the ancient phone. Yeah, the ancient evil spiritual, demon phone. Yeah. So anyway, that's kind of the... Yeah, they would use their familiar spirits, like, do stuff for them. Gotcha. It was their access point to the spiritual world.
Starting point is 00:26:01 Like, allegedly a servant, but really who's the slave and who's the exactly. Yeah. So anyway, your uncle probably had one of those. Yeah. And who knows? That could have been.
Starting point is 00:26:14 Well, that makes sense why I saw it again. Oh, you did? Yeah. Wow, it's just dropping that like all casual. That was actually not planned. No, it wasn't. Evan, where was the red? That would have been perfect.
Starting point is 00:26:26 Yeah, Evan. Can you put a base drop in after you just said? I think I need the red over here. Yeah, look at the bling it clicker. We need a clicker. So you saw the same thing again? So he came to visit in San Diego. Okay.
Starting point is 00:26:40 He brought it with his partner. See, it's a familiar spirit. That's so interesting. So he came for a weekend. And they stayed. We hiked, hung out. I remember being like,
Starting point is 00:26:51 I don't know about this because you both are here. I don't like that. Yeah. I remember being weirdly like, what? You guys are fine with this? kind of thing. That's beside the point.
Starting point is 00:27:05 So, towards the end of his stay, he was showing us our portfolio. I think I saw some things that he didn't intend for us to see that were icky. And I had gone to my room just like one in the afternoon as well.
Starting point is 00:27:23 Okay, middle of the day. Yeah. Not very soft. Yeah, and this is like six years later. Sorry, these are details I should have mentioned. So I'm like 12 or 13. Yeah. Sitting at the foot of my bed.
Starting point is 00:27:33 I don't think I was praying because I just had this feeling. I was kind of just in my room doing some things. And then I look up and it's in my doorway bigger. And it just like had, it wasn't like a this like trailing kind of like a smoke line this way. It was like a form that had like, looked like a balloon, but like more wispy. And it was like trying to come in my room. but it like couldn't and I hadn't prayed or anything and so but that was all like
Starting point is 00:28:06 in a blink of an eye because the second I saw it I prayed and rebuked it like my mom had done and it left and so I remember going yeah that's cool but I need to I'm freaked out somebody in front of my mom and I told her what happened and she like prayed again over the house like she like stormed off
Starting point is 00:28:22 and went around yeah I think she also like anointed the doors and windows which I wanted to ask you guys what you think about that but what? I think she had some sort of, like, an ointing oil. I know. I knew it. Yeah. Had to be an oil. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Got to be an oil. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. In San Diego. Don't dare. Come on. Yeah. What time was this is the 90s,
Starting point is 00:28:46 early 2000s? Um, no, this is like 2010. Okay. Yeah. I don't know. What? I just read out of stuff to say. That was it. Like you just, yeah, yeah. Yeah. It lit out and, um, I think it left the house and instead of just leaving the room. But you saw it was middle of the day. It was light. Yeah. And you saw it long enough. It wasn't like, oh, I think it's there. And then it's gone. You like pray. I saw it try to come in my room and not be able to. And I remember thinking like, that's weird. And then praying. That's crazy. God. Yeah. Dang. Yeah. Familiar spirits. I never thought about that.
Starting point is 00:29:28 Who knows? I mean, it's possible. It sounds like it to me. It sounds likely. That's my diagnosis. Like if you're in a wizard's house, you're in a gay wizard's house. Yeah. And you see a floating black spirit thing. Yeah. And then when Jesus comes up,
Starting point is 00:29:45 it runs away. It's suspicious. And then six years later, the gay wizard is there at your house. And the spirit's gotten bigger. And you see a floating black big spirit thing. Yeah. And when Jesus comes,
Starting point is 00:29:58 and it's trying to get in, it can't, this is classic familiar spirit territory. So true. Yeah. This is classic demon stuff. Like, it's yet another reason why everybody, all men everywhere, should repent to put their faith in Jesus. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:30:09 And not get into this other stuff. And it's a comfort to the Christian. Hey, it's the name of Christ. Like that's the thing. Like another one of the graveyard shifts we did with Steve, where, you know, I don't know what order of these are going to come out in, but it was about the ayahuasca trip. Costa Rica.
Starting point is 00:30:28 And how he's like a newbie Christian and basically has, So immature as a Christian that he doesn't even know like I shouldn't do hallucinogenic drugs as a spiritual experience. And yet God uses him in this situation to like banish the demons. Yeah. They're like all mad at them. It's funny because even it doesn't matter if it's a six year old or a seven year old or a 13 year old or like a mom who's just like, wait a second. Get out of here. But not because I am can take you on.
Starting point is 00:30:58 Or like Pentecostal or Baptist or Presbyterian. It's like, no, if you have faith and you call upon the name of Christ, that the devil will not be able to withstand. Yeah. Cannot abide. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Like, that is what the scriptures say. And there you go. Like, there it is again.
Starting point is 00:31:16 It's not because we're great or we're strong or we're all, you know, whatever. You don't have to be like a particularly powerful, you know, it's not like Harry Potter where you got this Dumbledore, gay wizard. And then, and then you have to be like equally, can I duel him? You're just a, you're literally a 13 year old girl. And you're like, no, that get stopped. In the name of Christ, go away. Go away. And then it does.
Starting point is 00:31:40 And like you said, you didn't even do anything ahead of time and it couldn't get in. It was like, ah, man. 13 year old girl, you're really used to yelling at people who are trying to come into your room. Like you and your mom's trying to come in and you're in a mood and you're like, I share the room with her. They share it. You know, so all you have to. Oh.
Starting point is 00:31:55 So that's okay. It's okay. Didn't really work. Sorry. Did you ever see it again? or have any other kind of weird things happen? I think I just got too much older. Like I wanted to ask like, not that I would ever really,
Starting point is 00:32:09 I wasn't really around my uncle as much after that. I haven't been to his house since. Yeah. Good for you. Yeah. Sad, but yeah. Yeah. And so I kind of just wanted to know, like, why do you think kids see things that
Starting point is 00:32:24 adults can't? Because I've heard that so many times. Yeah. I have heard that a lot. A lot of stories. I have a theory. Yeah. What do you think?
Starting point is 00:32:30 it's because they want to come after the more credulous and the more innocent and the more impressionable. I think that like a lot of grownups, even nonbelievers that are maybe they're not like crazy depraved. They're just nonbelievers. They're hard concrete, you know, and especially one that's already pretty firmly fixed in like atheism. What are the odds that the demons are going to? trouble themselves with him. Like he's doing just fine on his own. They actually don't want them to become aware of any kind of spiritual reality.
Starting point is 00:33:07 But the demons are very interested in corrupting the seed of the woman, even now that the seat of the woman has come and done his work. Why not try to snatch away the children? Like God even says in Malachi 4, what's one of the chief ends of marriage is to preserve the holy seed of the church? And so the demons are like, well, there we go, priority one. or one of the top priorities, let's thwart that as much as we possibly can.
Starting point is 00:33:34 Yeah, disrupt, because the ordinary means of salvation, like it's very ordinary means of salvation for covenant succession for a Christian parent to raise Christian children and disciple them in the faith. Like yourself. Then, and if Satan can disrupt that,
Starting point is 00:33:50 he absolutely will. Like, he's going to do everything he can to get in there and try to stop that, break the link in the chain. Because it's not just when you do that, for one link in that chain of Christians. You're not just doing it for one. You're doing it for their progeny likely.
Starting point is 00:34:06 And you're actually introducing, like you're disrupting this covenant succession. So that would make sense to me. I've heard people, you know, people often speculate and we get in trouble, people get in trouble and we speculate about like, well,
Starting point is 00:34:18 there's the pineal gland and it calcifies. And that's like the pathway for the spirit. And I'm like, huh. Eh. Oh, it's like a physically. Yeah. People, people,
Starting point is 00:34:29 postulate, there's a philosophical question that people have been asking for thousands of years, like how does the mind, how does consciousness interact with the physical body? And then also how does more generally the spirit, spiritual interact with the physical? And people have postulated different physical apparatuses like, well, it's the brain or it's part of the brain or it's this or that. And some people have said there's this bridge in the pineal gland or there's these things like this. But most of the time I just go, it's very speculative. We don't really know, and it didn't please God to tell us. He tells us that we are spiritual, but he doesn't seem that concerned with giving us the mechanics of it, partly because there are certain questions
Starting point is 00:35:13 that are just beyond, that is formally a question beyond the scope of science, because it's not science observes the material and tests in it, you know, it's outside of the, scope of that. But even philosophically, it might be an interesting question, but it doesn't, God doesn't tell us. So we're going to have to test it by logic or reason and maybe come up with some ideas. But observationally, people do seem to have a lot of experiences that are spiritual in nature when they're young children. And you do hear many, many, many stories about that, even specifically children seeing things that others are not able to. Even at a strategic level, there's less credibility with a child with their witness than there is with an adult.
Starting point is 00:36:02 And so if it's a position like yours where you already have like a good head on your shoulders in terms of like, well, that's dark and it's trying to come into my room and my uncle is gay. So like that's probably bad. Also he had a dancing Satan outside. Yeah. You know, so that's probably bad. And then, and then, you know, credit to your mom for believing. you. Yeah. And saying, okay, you know, because how easy would it be to be like, no, sweetheart,
Starting point is 00:36:31 you're, there's not, calm down. You've had a long dress. You've had a long day. It's a weird house. I know the art's funny. What, you know, you're just, your mind's playing tricks on you. Um, there's, like, how is that not an added benefit to revealing oneself to a child versus an adult? where an adult has, yeah, more credibility with other people just by force of being an adult. It's one of the reasons that I know you do, I do, basically every night multiple times because there's multiple kid bedtimes praying that the Lord would protect the house, guard us by his angels, watch over us as we sleep because we can't, like what can we do against the spiritual? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:13 In ourselves, not a lot, but we can through Christ stand firm against it. And we do. Like, parents have a duty to be a covering for their children in their house. So I would commend that practice to Christians. Sometimes we get so, again, part of the reason for the show at all is that in a materialist world, you can begin to become a little credulous about like, ah, demons, you know, are they really real? Is that just Bible stuff or is this like a real?
Starting point is 00:37:43 No, they're real. Yeah. Like, there are really malevolent ancient undying evil forces spent on the destruction of your soul. So you should pray about that. You should be equipped against it and take up the armor of God that he's given us. Yeah. So, man, great story.
Starting point is 00:37:59 Thanks for sure. Indeed. Yeah. Thanks for coming. What a twist. I saw it again. I can't get over that. Anything else?
Starting point is 00:38:06 No. That was it. Thankfully, no. Yeah. Yeah. I am grateful for that. Yeah. I'm not like bumped.
Starting point is 00:38:12 Man, I wish that more than money can encounter. What's happened to you. No. Thank you for going over just how you. can talk your kids through it because I have kids now. Oh, yeah. Then to not have to be like, hmm. Yeah, hopefully our kids don't have any of these.
Starting point is 00:38:27 Yeah. Here's another one. I was going to say this. Yeah. But since you brought it up again, Hannah, my son recently asked or told me that he was afraid of the dark. And I was like, okay. Yeah, I mean, me too.
Starting point is 00:38:43 You know, like it makes sense to be afraid of the dark. He said, you should be. And then he closed the door and left. I didn't. And what I said was, what I said was you should be if God wasn't in the home. Yeah. But the Lord's here. And the Lord turns the dark into comfort that helps us sleep better.
Starting point is 00:39:02 And if it wasn't for the Lord, yeah, we would be afraid of the dark. But we don't have to be because God just uses it to make us sleep better because we're his children. Like, and I firmly believe that that's literally true. That I'm not like babying it up. I believe that with, if I was not a Christian, I'd be terrified of the dark because it's the dark, you know? Dude, so real. So anyway, hey. Yeah. Just flashbacks of like, oh, this place isn't, isn't under the Lord. And that was another part of my uncle's house was it was my first realization of a home that didn't have the Lord's covering. And it was frequented. I could just
Starting point is 00:39:37 feel it by all of these things. And I mean, he put Satan as like in like the head of his household, basically. And it's in Albuquerque. Shout out to all our listeners in Albuquerque. Shout out to all our listeners in Albuquerque, y'all are doing, y'all are on the front lines down there. Let me tell you. It's not the number one rape capital in the U.S. We're circling all the way back. I did look it up. But it is, it does have a higher rate of rapes per 100,000 people than 67% of the national average. So it's up there. It's up there. Top five. We got to bring those numbers down. Anyway, Hannah, thank you for coming on the show. This has been a wonderful graveyard shift.
