Starting point is 00:00:02 The password is spuds. Here we go, live from behind the corn phone curtain. It's head-on with Roxanne Kincaid. Three hours of cussin and discussin with America's only liberal transbilly elitist right here, right now, on the head-on radio network. Brought to you in part by Cole River Mountain Watch, who invites you to be part of the uprising against mountaintop removal,
Starting point is 00:00:50 CRMW.net. And now, from high in the hills of West by God, Virginia, here she is. Roxanne Kincaid. Well, howdy. And here we go, off and running on this fourth day of September, 2026. This is the horn. Head on. Dot Live is where you'll find us on the interweb tubes. That's where you go.
Starting point is 00:01:28 If you'd like to be part of the Merry Wacky's Annie, Real-Time Matcap Multimedia Extravaganza, that is the Horn chat room in the three hours in which this program is live, Monday through Friday, 5 to 8 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, 2 to 5 p.m., Pacific Daylight Time, all time zones in between and the Great Globe round, and whatever time it is when you're listening to the podcast, and for those of you who are members of the podcasting contingent of the Horn Family Community Congregation, thank you so much for joining us that way.
Starting point is 00:01:55 Thank you very kindly. Again, I know you probably just, fast forward through this anyway, but if you can take a moment and help out as volunteer members of the Horn Ad Hoc PR and Advertising Committee, and leave us a comment, a review, a remark on the podcast as you download it. Well, the interaction, you know the drill, the interaction with the algorithms really does help get eyeballs on the program. And, well, frankly, that's just the nature of the beast. but thanks to those of you who do, it makes a difference. It helps.
Starting point is 00:02:40 We are, in fact, on our way to, at some point in the near future. Our one millionth download, no big deal for the heavy hitters and the hot shots, but, well, by Jove, it's a big deal for a little tiny radio program like this one is. Let's just take a quick peep here and see. Yeah. We are about 42,000 downloads away from that one millionth download. And thanks so much to everybody who does help us get there. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:03:21 Thank you so much. If you're listening live, though, well, it's Friday on the front porch. Here in about an hour or so, we'll go over the river and through the woods to the old holler tree that we sublet from the Keebler elves, wherein we keep the extraordinary ordinary roundtable around which we gather each and every Friday to cuss and discuss the matters of the week, and whatever matters might be in the offing.
Starting point is 00:03:50 There's an easy-to-use button at the top of HeadOn.com. It'll take you into the Discord server. And we just love having new voices in the conversation. Please feel free. The occasional advisory is on the table this evening. It has, as I heard when I was a wee child down in northwest Alabama. It's a coming up a cloud. There's a pop-up shower blowing through, and the thunder is pretty gusty.
Starting point is 00:04:29 And the thunder is coming. and the lightnings flashing and whatnot. So, as such, the standard disclaimer applies. If you're listening live and I'm just going on, and suddenly the program isn't there anymore, well, the fine folks who provide the incredibly expensive electricity at Appalachian Power, the terrified chihuahua has run under the bed and is shivering like it's about to pass a peach pit and is too terrified to come back out.
Starting point is 00:05:19 In other words, the power will be down. So I don't want that to happen, but it definitely could. could happen. Oh, hi, I'm Roxanne. So just know that in advance. Every program here at the horn begins with gratitude, and this program is no difference. So thanks go out to our fourth day of the month subscribers and contributors via PayPal. And, well, that means a big thank you to Stephen, thank you, Stephen, and thank you to Kim and Malin in New Jersey. Thank you both for being partial sponsors of the program and helping to keep all of this on the air. Where do we stand? Well, right now we are
Starting point is 00:06:13 and the deficit is at $1,900. And so that's basically all of this week. last Friday and $100 of last Thursday. So, yeah, we're still finishing August. Anything and everything helps. And I'm sorry to pitch like this. I apologize profusely. But, you know, we never got that big stupid beats advertising contract.
Starting point is 00:06:52 And, well, we've, after a couple of little. a couple of legal mishaps, horn nutraceuticals had to shut down. Just as our proprietary formula for Alabama sex clams was really taking off. God, if only Whiskey Pete Kegbreath could have heard about Alabama sex clams. My God, we could have gotten a Pentagon contract that would have had us all in the, in the high cotton, as they say. Yeah, severe thunderstorm warning. All the way till 9 p.m., so it will dog us all during the program.
Starting point is 00:07:44 Let's see, some of you. Ohio, Kentucky. Why bother me? Yeah, there we are. Fayette County. Uh-huh. I'm just checking the radar real quick to see how bad it is. Oh, yeah, that's a blob.
Starting point is 00:08:10 Good times. Good times. Maybe the worst of it won't hit us. Fingers crossed. But at any rate, just by way of getting the conversation started, the password was spuds. Whatever could she mean. Well, nitwit Nero had another hissy at another woman journalist today. You may recall, and we had the clip of the vice president of the United States, Judy Vance, the J.D. Egg, Jimmy Dick Bowman.
Starting point is 00:09:02 Whatever his name is on his, whatever their name is on their birth certificate. declaring that what we're doing in Iran isn't really a war. And then, of course, we had the story yesterday of the grieving widow Mrs. Clinter, who is being hoodooed out of combat death benefits because this miserable, craptastic Pentagon, well, they want to spend money on lobster and ribby's stuff. mistakes and testosterone and lots of booze. But a grieving widow with a set of twins and a little two-year-old boy to raise, not so much.
Starting point is 00:09:53 So Jimmy Dick's claim that it's not really a war caused a reporter for ABC News to ask a fairly simple question of nitwit Nero. Jesus And it's pitiful He knit with Nero Just sitting there Behind the resolute desk Looking about half alive And we're hoping
Starting point is 00:10:25 For that fraction to reduce They issued a Spam earlier today About how We're going to help our nation's Great Beef Farmers yeah i'm sure dumbass sure i mean he looks like he's barely in this world
Starting point is 00:10:49 and so eventually rachel scott of abccc news asked nitwit nero why his vice president j d vance the first vice president in a hundred years to have a beard and her name's usha uh... wouldn't say it's a
Starting point is 00:11:21 a war. I can't call it a war. Then Mrs. Clinner would have to have more benefits after they got her fucking husband killed, right? And Mitt Witt Nero responded, A lot of people don't call it a war.
Starting point is 00:11:37 I call it a military conflict. Actually, he said excursion. Because it's small potatoes for us. It's not a big thing. And Ms. Scott responded, it certainly doesn't feel like small potatoes. 18 service members have died.
Starting point is 00:11:57 We're seeing record long deployments. Why is it record long? How long were we in Vietnam? How long were we in Vietnam? We're in five months now. And you know what we did in five months? They're not going to have a nuclear weapon. That's what we did.
Starting point is 00:12:14 Iran will not have a nuclear weapon because if they did, you probably wouldn't be standing here very long. What? Right, because if Iran developed a nuclear weapon, weapon the first place they'd nuke would be dc not tel Aviv right and that's why he was a d student at the wharton school of business at penn stupidest student i ever had one of his professors once remarked but i'm not so we've gone from not a war to small potatoes hence spuds yeah and of course he he's he's uh pissed now it's it's i mean that's one of those things with uh frontotemporal dementia um the filter goes
Starting point is 00:13:23 it's not like alzheimer's where you just forget things the filter goes and it's replaced by Nothing, but, and I know, Freudian psychoanalysis is pretty much done. But, you know, Freud identified the id, the ego, and the super ego. Well, nitlit Nero's super ego caught the first train out of town years ago. His ego hung on as long as the Spirochetes could keep it a lot. and now there's nothing left but id. And so whatever comes into his head, that's where he goes. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:19 Here's the moment. The vice president said yesterday that he would not describe the conflict with Iran as a war. But the U.S. resumed strikes for the first time in recent weeks. Can you explain to the American people if this is not a war, what exactly... And just to set the stage, let's be clear. Rachel Scott is an African-American woman, so Niro doesn't just hate her because she's a woman. He hates her because she's black, because he is, after all, a soak, son of a Klansman. Who is it?
Starting point is 00:14:54 Well, I'll tell you what, a lot of people don't call it a war. I call it a military conflict because it's small potatoes for us. It's not a big thing. We did Venezuela, and we did this. In Venezuela, we lost nobody, and this we lost 18 people. And in Vietnam, you lost 100,000 people. And in other conflicts, you lost tens of thousands of people. I would say that it's intermittent.
Starting point is 00:15:20 You know, we do intermittent strikes. So I heard what he said, and it was interesting, because I think that there's a lot of took. We're not fighting right now. There's no fighting. We're taking out a lot of oil. We control the harmless trade. We control it very strongly.
Starting point is 00:15:35 We did a hit on certain areas around the harmless rate. We took out there radio. as you know you know that very well we took out some aircraft we took out some yeah yeah of course uh they they hidden they hit a different island we did and it went nero or at lor or natalie harpy i'm not sure well probably natalie after all she's the one who put up the ai uh image of baroque and michelle Obama as apes. I'm guessing it was Natalie's doing that she put up the AI of the United States attacking Harg Island,
Starting point is 00:16:14 totally wrong island, not even near, not even, not even in the Straits of Hormuz. But let's go back to the dementia patient. Other things that protect, for them used to protect the harmless street when they had it under very tight control. But now we control it. And we're taking out last night. We took a lot of boats. A lot of ships came through.
Starting point is 00:16:34 And they come through every day. So I can understand what he's saying. It's a military conflict, but it's very intermittent. I could see somebody not calling it to a way. But it certainly doesn't feel like small potatoes. 18 people have died in this. Certainly doesn't feel like small potatoes. 18 service members have died.
Starting point is 00:16:51 We're seeing record long deployments. You initially said this last. Record long? Why is it record long? How long were we in Vietnam? How long were we in Vietnam? No, no. How long were we in Vietnam?
Starting point is 00:17:01 We're in five months now. We've been, and you know what we did? five months, they're not going to have a nuclear weapon. That's what we did. Iran will not have a nuclear weapon. Because if they did, you probably wouldn't be standing here very long. Iran will not have a nuclear weapon. We've stopped them from having. We may hit pickaxe very soon because if there was anything going on going with pickaxe. But because of all of the things, you know, we're leading in space now by a lot. When I first took over my first term, we were a distant third to Russia and to China. We're leading in space.
Starting point is 00:17:34 We know everybody that's moving at pickax. We know everybody that's moving everywhere all over Iran. And if anything goes bad, we hit him. We hit him hard. Yeah, of course, anybody who's familiar with Nitwit Nero going back to years, the minute he gets in trouble, he starts deflecting and screaming questions back. This goes all the way back to his testimony trying to stop in Native America. American casino.
Starting point is 00:18:06 I don't see any Indians. Do you see any Indians? Where are the Indians? Those are Indians? I'm asking you, where are the Indians? And the thing is, the maggots are even beginning to turn on him? Maggates don't like it when you shit on the military. Why is it a record-line deployment? Well, because, yeah, I'm curious about that, too, Ralphs. I confess I don't, uh, we may hit them with pickax what that may uh anybody in the horn ad hoc uh the research department want to take on what is pickax
Starting point is 00:18:59 because he was i don't as he was babbling about pickax he wasn't even talking it didn't sound like he was if they move anywhere in the run is we hit you with pickax it's just babble and can you imagine just I mean I'll do the silly voice just to make it easier my fellow Americans we recently engaged in a war
Starting point is 00:19:39 in military action against Iran but don't worry it's not a war it's small potatoes Jesus the only way Barack Obama could have been any more excoriated
Starting point is 00:19:54 for that as if he had done it while wearing a tan suit with a jar of gray poupon mustard on his podium god damn it joe biden bill clinton well we were going after we were going after osama bin laden when we hit one of his compounds down there in sudan but don't worry it was small potatoes oh the Republicans would have added another bill of impeachment
Starting point is 00:20:42 it would have been Monica Lewinsky and small potatoes like I said if Barack Obama had said if they would have just given up and gone ahead and used that word they wanted to use for him for eight long years how dare that
Starting point is 00:21:04 ginger say our military troops engage in small potatoes Roo, bruga, bruga, you know, Rush Limbaugh, fat, dead, and now in hell on the pineapple circuit, would have gone on air every day. My friends with talent on loan from God and half my brain behind my back, I have to tell you this communist Barack Obama has demeaned the United States military calling our heroic action small potatoes.
Starting point is 00:21:47 Okay, Jeremy. Jeremy says pickax, he can't come up with strategic strikes, so all he can think of is a pickaxe. I think it has some sort of meaning, and it's probably a word he's mispronounced or misappropriated, you know, along the lines of him saying, you know, these crazy goddamn Democrats, they think there are six genders,
Starting point is 00:22:16 because he heard cis genders, and even his hearing is failing now. Haiti and Venezuela are sending crazy people. Because he heard asylum seeker. I don't know, maybe if somebody had said sanctuary instead of asylum, he would have thought of Quasimodo going. Sanctuary, sanctuary. Ah.
Starting point is 00:22:46 So that's Jeremy's guest. Leah, New York says, What is Pickax? My best guess is that the Midas Maniac is going to have federal employees mine for gold. new priority for the Parks Department staff. Oh. Is it the name? Wait, wait.
Starting point is 00:23:10 Could it be the potential operation name for digging up their enriched uranium? We'll hit him with pickax. Oh, I will not use AI. I will not use AI. I will not use AI.
Starting point is 00:23:38 I'll just go ahead and take a run at this myself. What is up for pickax? Okay. Yeah. Well, here's our answer. Pickax Mountain, which is Kuikolong Ghazla, in Farsi, apparently. forgive me i have no idea how to pronounce farsi a mountain in the zagros mountains in isfahan province iran it's about a kilometer and a half south of the natanz nuclear complex and it's uh
Starting point is 00:24:45 Iran's been doing some deep excavating so ku e kladang in farci apparently means pickax Mountain. There's an underground facility. Oh, there it is. Okay, okay. Just reading from the wiki on it. Pickax Mountain was left untouched during earlier strikes on Iranian nuclear sites in June 2025 and in 2026 in July 2026.
Starting point is 00:25:20 During the 2006 Iran War, Trump repeatedly said that the United States would target the site, stating that it would be hit pretty soon and Meanwhile, people know about such things that are 30,000-pound GB-U-57 mop. It probably couldn't even reach through that. So I guess maybe Pickax Mountain is the Iranian, at least similar, in Iranian similar structurally
Starting point is 00:26:00 to like Cheyenne Mountain is that it? Yeah, Clarence says pickaxes and mountain in Iran Matt in San Francisco, come on, Roxanne. Oh dear. Everyone knows when you want to go into space,
Starting point is 00:26:24 you need a pickax. The pickax is used to get the small potatoes out of the ground when you reach the moon. Oh, God, there's a, oh, that's a great way to get that first Ramalama Ding-Dong out of the way. It's what Space Force is all about. We got a bit longer with this, so we all need to get on board. I, for one, would not trust myself to be in a room with nitwitna pickax.
Starting point is 00:26:50 I could get in trouble. Mm-hmm. Wait, yeah, that's this, hold on. I hate to do this. But, where'd it go? Yeah. We're going to go back to the clip of him barking at Rachel Scott. I apologize.
Starting point is 00:27:24 Because I think there may be some dementia rearing its spirochite-flavored head there. We don't worry. We're not going to do the whole clip. Let's just, yeah. And it looks like they had him jacking him. backed up on speed for this one. Early on, he was just sort of drowsing there, half alive. We took a lot of boats, a lot of ships came through, and they come through every day.
Starting point is 00:27:59 So I can understand what he's saying. It's a military conflict, but it's very intermittent. I could see somebody not calling it to a way. But it certainly doesn't feel like small potatoes, Mr. President. 18 people have died, and it certainly doesn't feel like small potatoes. Okay, he's going to bark and grunt. Here, move. Skip a bit, sister. Because if they did, you probably wouldn't be standing here very long.
Starting point is 00:28:24 Iran will not have a nuclear weapon. We've stopped them from having. We may hit pickaxe very soon because if there was anything going on with pickaxe. But because of all of the things, you know, we're leading in space now by a lot. When I first... Yeah, okay. Yeah, that's definitely a dementia moment. I mean, this is, this is, uh, this is stream of unconsciousness on a level that's absolutely Faulknerian. This is the, this is the part of Sound and the Fury that's narrated in the first person by Benji.
Starting point is 00:29:02 Mm-hmm. Describing a game of golf first they were hitting, then they hit some more. Yeah. There. Okay. Yeah. But you notice? We may hit it, pickax, but space.
Starting point is 00:29:22 They hit pickax very soon because if there was anything going on with pickax. But because of all of the things, you know, we're leading. Because of all of the things and then, God, this would be hilarious. If it wasn't so God bless America, terrifying. I mean, I'm just kind of astounded by that. This isn't like the midnight DJ at the radio station who went and got all Christianized and became my program director of the gospel voice,
Starting point is 00:30:10 who in his drinking days one time, one night on the midnight shift, played stairway to heaven, and then said, That was really good. Let's listen to it again. And just pick the needle up and set the needle back down and did that three or four times. Yeah. Iran will not have a nuclear weapon.
Starting point is 00:30:34 We've stopped them from having. We may hit pickaxe very soon because if there was anything going on with pickaxe. But because if there was anything going on with pickaxe, he can't complete a sentence, y'all. at this point in time, they could pin a little index card on his suit jacket that says 25th Amendment now
Starting point is 00:31:00 or 25th Amendment candidate. And he'd probably say something like, No president has ever handled the 25th Amendment better than me. I... Okay, so if there's anything going on with Pickaxe, I just... Hmm, if I had one of those high... affilutin video sets like, say, maybe the Beckerhead, I'd have a big old, maybe we'd even go old school and have a big schoolroom chalkboard and some chalk and stuff.
Starting point is 00:31:40 And we'd diagram this as we go. And then we'd all go absolutely barking, eating dirt and running rabbits crazy. Stop them from having, we may hit pickax very soon, because. if there was anything going on with pickaxe. But because of all of the things, you know, we're leading in space now by a lot. When I first took over my first term, we were a distant third to Russia and to China.
Starting point is 00:32:13 We're leading. What the fuck? I mean, is it just me? Or is that just plain crazy? Gone, just gone. What happens when he's talking about the arch, the Ark B. Trump and suddenly decides to
Starting point is 00:32:44 nuke Iran? Or what if he decides to nuke Iran and then starts talking about the ballroom mid-sentence and the salute snappers go, well, I guess we got to nuke Iran now. I'm not trying to scare anybody. Well, the only person I'm scaring is me.
Starting point is 00:33:03 Jesus. And back to, I will not use AI. Brother Deacon Asa, noting why? Because Barada is made of Wikipedia? Yeah, this is Brother Deacon Asa sent this along to me.
Starting point is 00:33:30 We share these little moments of hilarity. For reasons known best to the Camel Cardinal, he looked up Barada, maybe trying to figure out how to make it, because the brother deacon is a fantastic cook.
Starting point is 00:33:48 Dude could make it in a pro kitchen. So the Brother Deacon simply typed B-U-R-R-A-A- into Google search. And, of course, you can't turn the AI off. And so it immediately provided him an AI answer. Barata, definition, AI overview. This is precious. Barata is a fresh Italian cheese made from Wikipedia, with a solid outer mozzarella shell and a soft creamy center filled with strachatella and cream.
Starting point is 00:34:35 Now, I guess you probably have to go to one of those really, really old school, been around for 150 years Italian markets in New York City maybe to get you some fresh. Italian Wikipedia to make your barata with. Brother Deacon, I want you to know that when I saw that and began laughing, my parents laughed in the afterlife, and they didn't even know what AI was, but by God they, hmm, yeah, yeah. Ten years, huh, Brother Deacon? Yeah, a decade went by overnight. It flies. It zooms.
Starting point is 00:35:28 Yeah. Fresh Verada is made with Wikipedia. Yeah, Ralph, it's... I don't know if you buy Wikipedia by the ounce, by the pound, by the fluid ounce. Anybody's guess, really? And that is why I won't use AI, because barata is made of Wikipedia. Mm-hmm. And a note coming in from Cynthia.
Starting point is 00:35:57 And once worse, the cult is eating up every moronic and rat-fucking stupid remark, that pig says like it is brilliant. gospel. Oh, God. Why didn't I think about that? Cynthia said, and I wonder if he intends to nuke pickax. Holy shit. Holy shit, Cynthia. That's what they've been babbling about. Because you remember a minute ago, I said, experts say that even our moab, our mother, our mop, our mother of all bombs, wouldn't penetrate pickax mountain? though we may hit it very soon Well, if the mop doesn't work
Starting point is 00:36:53 What do you think the salute snappers will tell him will? Yeah Didn't even think about it, Cynthia. I mean, I'd give you a Ramalama Ding Dong But I feel real icky about giving out a Ramalama Ding Dong For figuring out nitwit Niro And the Salute Snappers excuse for using nuclear weapons In a first strike
Starting point is 00:37:21 I just know I appreciate your Look You know part of the community says Way way way way out there Ahead of the curve so far It's like we're on straight road It's like the scene's It's like the scenery in
Starting point is 00:37:37 In Roadrunner cartoons And there's Micah making me feel Even not better If the Moab won't hit it A nuke won't I mean they may have a ground penetrating nuke maybe Oh, goody. Another excuse.
Starting point is 00:38:03 Well, it wasn't like Hiroshima or Nagashima. We didn't hit him like we hit Noxema. I am so glad. I don't keep that Nebuchadnezzar of cheap Mexican gasoline here with the swirly straw anymore. Because I'd be in it. What's your take on it? for everybody who still ever has a drink. If he starts a nuclear war,
Starting point is 00:38:55 are you going to get shit-faced, or are you just going to wait for the big flash stone cold sober? Micah says, I don't think they're going to nuke it. That's my take. Not going to happen. He's just word saluting. Yeah, but the thing is, Micah, we know. And honestly, of all the things I don't believe,
Starting point is 00:39:20 that she's ever said. I know confirmation bias, what have you. But marginal trailer queen said that he and the salute snappers are in the situation room talking about using a nuclear first strike weapon. Jesus. And Barata? Barada? Well, that started a thing.
Starting point is 00:39:49 George and Korskel just said, Gort! Clotu Barata Nicto. What's not to understand? Yeah, I guess the spaceship came from the planet Wikipedia, George. Right? Yeah. We in New York, Baradis, Kessla, Regic, Regic, Regic!
Starting point is 00:40:17 Stay away from Veritas. It's a mass murderer. It's not Wikipedia. Obligatory Star Trek reference. World in the Fold. And from Cynthia Fock. Just the fallout from a ground burst would be a war crime and crime against humanity right there. It would be horrific.
Starting point is 00:40:39 And I agree. No Ramalama ding-dong is appropriate for this. Thank you for your understanding, Cynthia. And so onward, it's been a while since we checked in with Pennsylvania Senator John Federman. Hey, he's not getting any better. Out Wolf in the fold. Yes. Spell check, understood.
Starting point is 00:41:23 Spell check, spell check, spell check. No, Pennsylvania's Senator Kirsten Mansion, and this is from a report in the Wall Street Journal earlier today, couldn't be bothered to meet with three paralyzed military veterans who came all the way from rural Pennsylvania to talk about veterans' health care with their senator this past June. The journal said that he canceled on the veteran saying,
Starting point is 00:42:05 I might have eaten something bad. But an hour after AIDS met the veterans instead of their senator, a veteran came lumbering into his office, and he was looking fine. Next thing you know, he's just, jumping in a car and going off to the Fox News TV radio Rwanda studios in D.C. To yap about Israel. Because, see, three paralyzed veterans,
Starting point is 00:42:43 I'm not sure what the exchange rate is, but three paralyzed veterans don't come close to equaling the amount of money he gets from the goons at A-PAC. Yeah. And this wasn't just a run-of-the-mill hit piece. apparently this thing's been in the pipeline for a while the old oh myca hold on
Starting point is 00:43:14 hold on sis hold on it's going to get worse uh myca said uh fuck that man i've never been so embarrassed to share a political party with someone well don't worry if we get a 51 to 49 senate majority he'll flip and become a Republican
Starting point is 00:43:35 but the Wall Street Journal article relied on accounts from former staffers as well as other legislators and even real live internal text messages in their article the Wall Street Journal said behind closed doors the first term senator shows little interest in doing the job beyond cultivating relationships with conservatives of media figures and advocating for Israel. But like I said, it gets worse.
Starting point is 00:44:18 There is a facility called Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. The acronym for it is CHOP. And administrators and executives from CHOP last year, about this time last year, sought to meet John Federman over Medicaid cuts because they were worried about Medicaid cuts Federman texted back
Starting point is 00:44:56 Well, I'm not I'm convinced they just want free trips to D.C. What? Free trips to D.C.? From Philly? I mean, my one trip to Philly, I found an absolutely fascinating place. Great dining experience, history all over the place, culture, the arts.
Starting point is 00:45:29 Oh, they just want a free trip to D.C. This is Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Who, by the way, I'm sure, has long since, I don't know this for a fact, if anybody in the Horn Ad Hoc Research Department wants to take a look, I feel certain they've probably gone ahead and hung trans kids out to dry. Well, he just won a free trip to D.C. I wonder what else he said about the paralyzed veterans.
Starting point is 00:46:30 And the funny thing is, I mean, if it's a strategy, it's a strategy. Because when you poll maggots in Pennsylvania, he gets higher numbers from Republican voters than their own maggot senator. Dave McCormick does. He's waiting. He is. He is waiting until the outcome of the midterms. And if he has a chance
Starting point is 00:47:14 to save the Senate for the Republicans, he will. And he will be paid handsomely for it. What a repulsive human being. But here's the thing. Apparently, Fetterman is a, Ginsu commercial. The former Federman Staffer's account on what used to be Twitter earlier today, they introduced themselves.
Starting point is 00:48:01 They did so to point the way to the Wall Street Journal article previously just now mentioned, but that wasn't the end of it. They said, we're a group of former campaign and Senate staffers for John Federman who are disgusted with what he's become. If you were troubled by yesterday's Wall Street Journal story, trust us that's just the tip of the iceberg. It's even worse than you thought. We've come together to share our stories and screenshots to show Pennsylvanians exactly who their senator is. Set your calendar for September 14th. the day the Senate is back in session for our first drop.
Starting point is 00:48:50 Let's be honest, maybe the 15th. He'll skip Monday's votes. Well now. But then again, if the maggots have decided that they love him after all, then what could they drop that would make a maggot walk away from him? Over at the bulwark, Sam Stein said, I've never seen anything like this before. and I guess I'm going to have to go over on that filthy Leon Scum platform
Starting point is 00:49:42 subscribe to former Federman staffers some of you who still use that platform much more than I might want to do similarly just so give me a heads up if something hits but September 14th or probably 15th because he may play hooky on Monday the 14th. What a disappointment. What a con.
Starting point is 00:50:23 Most people look at his behavior and say, well, yeah, that's because of the stroke he had. Is it really? Or could he have just been flying under the radar and using and abusing the goodwill of progressive voters all along? It wouldn't be a first. That's exactly what Cursie and Cirston Cinema did. to voters out in Arizona stand, and then she turned into Joe Mansion.
Starting point is 00:50:52 And that's why we refer to John Federman as Kirsten Mansion. What a way to end a week. Anybody got a good joke? I know, I know, I know, I know. And Ralph's serving as the Horn Ad Hoc Children's Hospital of Pennsylvania Research Department noted that they got $700,000 in grants for pediatric cancer research from Hyundai Hope on Wheels. I'm probably going to need it. Oh, and speaking of health care, just putting this out there for general consideration,
Starting point is 00:51:57 a recent analysis of the second, the second maggot nightmare so far, shows exactly what has happened as a result of just half, just half of the elements of the big bullshit bill going into effect. Charles Gaba, G-A-B-A, is an independent health care analyst, and yesterday he put out a report and there was a shocking and horrifying account. With only half of the big bullshit bill in effect, 10 million people in the United States have already lost their health care coverage. He aggregated Medicaid, the Children's Health Insurance Program, Medicare, and the Affordable Care Act.
Starting point is 00:53:32 There are, according to Mr. Gaba, 5.9 million fewer people in Medicaid and CHIP, at least 4.5 million fewer people enrolled in the ACA, and of course it's just people not having health care anymore. He made a point Mr. Gaba did, of noting that it's not like people got better jobs and got insurance from their employer, and ultimately reached the conclusion that between 8.8 million to 10.3 million fewer people now have health care coverage. We're going backwards, but of course we knew that.
Starting point is 00:54:29 And he made it clear that these are numbers that were accounted for before the Medicaid work requirements go into effect. I wonder if any maggots have been affected by this. chickens coming home to roost and from Cynthia I would guess that Federman's stroke exacerbated
Starting point is 00:55:26 what was already there you know like alcohol releases inhibitions the stroke just showed us who he really is and I made those stroke comments based on a late friend of mine who had a stroke it changed his personality bringing forward without inhibition
Starting point is 00:55:43 characteristics he already had he became a horrible person to be around. It was sad. Yeah, it can be profound. And it's,
Starting point is 00:56:04 all things taken together. It's probably a combination of both, Cynthia. The stroke, says Micah,
Starting point is 00:56:17 may have made him go more mask off, but this is who he always was. Joke? I think I got a good joke. Well, as I noted
Starting point is 00:56:26 earlier, with all the food, ha, ha, ha, yeah, thank you. With all the food recalls at this point, Mitch McConnell is the only vegetable that hasn't been recalled. Well played. Well played.
Starting point is 00:56:40 Miss. And then 10 million uninsured, more uninsured Americans. Micah says, who cares? They'll just blame Biden or Obama. Or Biden and Obama. Or Biden and Obama. Clinton. FDR.
Starting point is 00:57:02 And maybe. Abdul El Sayid. Or maybe it's because James Talariko isn't manly enough, according to them. Or, of course, yes, Micah,
Starting point is 00:57:20 that's always a possibility. He's always out there. Dona-na. George Soros. Yeah, it's just like the woman in North Carolina, Jeremy, says. She did
Starting point is 00:57:42 as well, ran as a progressive dem, and as soon as she was elected, she changed parties. Yeah. And out there in reality land, a note from Flavio, I'm dreading my first electric bill. The social worker that got me into this two-bedroom loft apartment said no one ever paid more than $80 a month for energy. We'll see. When I moved in, the thermostat was set at 71, and the AC was on constantly. I figured I'd put a stop to that by setting it at 76.
Starting point is 00:58:16 I don't need to be refrigerated. When I lived in Racine and an old house built in 1901 with seven drafty windows, the electric gas bill was like $250 a month. Hope it's not like that. My current building was reconverted into loss from the old Bacalar's sausage factory in 2016. Mmm, sausage. So it's only 10 years old. So it's very modern.
Starting point is 00:58:41 there's only one cathedral window and the daylight illuminates the living room kitchen pretty nicely. All the lighting is LED, low wattage, still I make sure everything's unplugged when I'm not using it. At my former digs, all utilities were included. Well, 76.
Starting point is 00:58:59 I can be reasonably comfortable. Here in the fabulous Horn Studios at the magnificent Kincaid Mansion, even with a cooling thunderstorm blowing through and the little floor unit heat pump doing all it can possibly do. Ah, 85 degrees. But we're south-facing, and big windows. Huh.
Starting point is 00:59:24 Yeah. We won't talk about the N-A-K-E-D-R-A-D-I-O, okay. X-N-A-K-N-A-K-N-A-K-E-E-O-R-E. Oh, and just something fun. Victoria and I were talking the other day about she was looking for something new to watch and I looked online at what was new on HBO
Starting point is 00:59:59 one of my few little luxuries and lo and behold if you've got HBO Casablanca is on there right now so too however this is just a Scott Marinoff Memorial TV viewing tip so too is a 1942 Bogart film also Warner Brothers
Starting point is 01:00:31 featuring the usual Warner Brothers cast of characters people like Peter Lorry and Conrad Vett Vite Conrad Vite played the Nazi colonel in Casablanca and he plays a Nazi in this movie too No big surprise. It's a 1942 film.
Starting point is 01:00:50 How can I spoiler this? But it is fascinating because there were a number of World War II refugees from Germany. There were Jews who fled the Nazi regime when they had an opportunity and came to Hollywood. most of them would work in entertainment anyway. And it's just a fascinating little trivia point in film history to note that what sinister Nazis they were able to play because they had firsthand experience of how sinister the Nazis were. but I found this film particularly enjoyable because
Starting point is 01:01:57 Bogart was not known one of my favorite actors Bogart was not known for his comic stylings but this movie all through the night is it's a comedy it's a drama it's a spy thriller
Starting point is 01:02:19 the cast is amazing a very young Jackie Gleason is in it a very young Phil Silvers is in it and of all people World War I real life World War I veteran William Demerest is in it
Starting point is 01:02:47 I think he was born in Minnesota 1892 and so he would have been 25 when he went over there with the
Starting point is 01:03:05 American Expeditionary Force the Do Boys and there's a line in the film where he says Yeah we'll yeah we'll beat some sense
Starting point is 01:03:18 into him like we did in the first in the Great War but that's not what really grabbed my eye Hollywood has a way of loving to pay homage to other earlier films. And maybe this bit was used in other earlier films, but well, here in a couple of months,
Starting point is 01:03:50 the great debate will begin anew as to whether or not die hard is a Christmas movie. And there is that, that one scene where Bruce Willis wraps a fire hose around his waist and leaps off the, what is it, the Nakatoni building before things blow up. And so I giggled merrily to myself last night when watching all through the night, I saw William Demerest, they were escaping from the Nazis, Bogart and the ingenue, her last name was Verna, Verna. He climbs down some lattice work a couple or three stories from the Nazi operation in New York City. It takes place in New York.
Starting point is 01:05:01 And the wordplay is just brilliant. You know what? I need to clip that out. I probably can't record it anymore. But there's a scene, and Demerest, who plays a guy named Sunshine, is he uses this New York street lingo double-speak, nonsense talk at various points in the film. And then there's the big scene at the Nazi meeting where Demerest and Bogart, neither of whom speak a lick of German, start doing this. And the reason it made me laugh was because of those evenings when we've been chatting here.
Starting point is 01:05:57 And, for instance, Steve in New York will jump in and, you know, something will go wrong. And I'll say, well, the flage plate didn't interface with the Knuton valve. And Steve will say, yeah. and the Usha was completely malfunctioning or something along those lines. This is that only at a magnificent professional film level. But I get away from, I'm getting away from my point here. In that escape scene, William Demarest, three stories up in New York City, wraps a fire hose around his waist and jumps off the building.
Starting point is 01:06:39 And, of course, it's played to comic effect and everything. I was like, but I saw it, I paused it, and I backed up and I went, Son of a bitch, it's the Nakatoni building. I love film. I do. I'm a cinephile of sorts. It's sort of a low-brow cineophile. Meanwhile, Micah says, there's no debate.
Starting point is 01:07:05 There are people who know die hard as a Christmas movie, and, oh dear, you're starting early, aren't you? There are people who know die hard as a Christmas movie, those who are wrong. Yeah. Well played, Miss Micah. Well played indeed. And we are into the second hour of the program,
Starting point is 01:07:42 and so it is, in fact, time to go over the river and through the woods to the old holler tree that we sublet from the Keebler elves, and wherein we keep the extraordinary, ordinary roundtable around which we gather each and every Friday, for our ongoing conversation. But we have $1,900 for our deficit. It would be great if we could bring it down some. If we could, well, here's a huge ask.
Starting point is 01:08:20 Could we try to just stay a week behind? We could raise $400. Fantastic. Thank you in advance to anybody who wants to help out. I know that it just gets top. tiresome. The pitching and pleading. Honestly, it's kind of humiliating for me, too, so I apologize.
Starting point is 01:08:44 But at any rate, let's pop over and see what's going on and check in with juvenile delinquent number two, as well as Roger. They are both there. Hey, Jeremy. there's the reason you're really low let me turn you up here so i can you hear it probably can uh can you hear me yeah it was my end oh okay adjust your end jeremy no it's been a while since i use my uh i think my computer home to do this i've been a vacation this week so i've kind of tuned out for the most part as much as i can just to get a mental
Starting point is 01:09:32 break of the week so i've heard this and that but i haven't heard a ton Understood. Well, I don't really have a ton tonight, just kind of listening. Gipping my toes back in. Real life starts again Tuesday. Monday's a federal holiday, so it's an extra day off. Oh, nice. That wasn't a bad deal.
Starting point is 01:09:59 Yeah, I don't know if you heard, but Nitwit Niro was barking and grunting it. We have too many federal holidays. He's been saying that when they had to give Christmas off and a bunch of others, especially he said it last year during, trying to think like Juneteenth he said it last year It's too many federal holidays You name it Every time there's a federal holiday he doesn't agree with
Starting point is 01:10:22 Martin Luther King Day You know it's too many federal holidays It's any people he doesn't like basically Well I find it curious that he said it close to Labor Day Because we know he despises labor unions Even though labor unions Some labor unions are Engaged in what I can only call
Starting point is 01:10:40 a toxic, codependent relationship and kiss the orange toe. I think about that teamsters president. I'm sure he'll complain next month for Indigenous People's Day. He'll say too many federal holidays. He knows he can't get rid of them by executive order, so he'll just grunt and moan about them. Yeah, but there's a great day coming when he won't grunt or moan about anything.
Starting point is 01:11:12 Because nature will take her course, inevitable course. It will, but the sad thing is you'll hear about him the rest of your life, Roxanne. Whether you want to or not, you're going to hear his name because of what he's done. He may go away physically, but his
Starting point is 01:11:28 presence and what he did will haunt us the rest of our lives. Well, I mean, you remember what was it? A couple of weeks ago when I was talking about the things that Caligula did in ancient Rome. yes we're still talking about colligula too
Starting point is 01:11:47 oh he'll be they'll be books written about what his his group of people have done in the horrors that we've just kind of let go as americans in general not saying us but just americans in general turning a blind eye to it and you know like there's a there's a story here of several clergy members who were uh they weren't all religious assholes you know protesting an ice office and they were all arrested people are calling the approach the religious figures freaks saying they're the ones because they're against the law
Starting point is 01:12:16 even though they all support these religions which say you know except by strangers stuff like that feed the sick and these people are saying hey ice is doing this wrong but somehow they're the enemy because they're protesting ice it's what this whole tribe of assholes is allowed to happen in this country and well the cruelty is the point and as long as the right people are enduring the cruelty i just saw a story crossed my feed right a moment ago i mentioned earlier that the children's hospital of philadelphia had probably already hung trans kids trans adolescents out to dry brand new news just now mount sinai hospital in new york has hung trans adolescents out to die and not only did they knuckle under jeremy they agreed to pay a monetary penalty and they're going to set aside
Starting point is 01:13:11 $2 million to provide free medical services to quote patients suffering from what the DOJ described as the harmful consequences of care they received at Mount Sinai as children. Yep, here's stupidity. Well, it's the capitulation. But let's also remember that it was Mount Sinai Hospital where that one surgeon performed gender affirming surgeries. who turned out to be sort of the personal on-call plastic surgeon, Jess Ting, the personal on-call plastic surgeon to none other than Jeffrey Epstein. Yep. Switch to the subject when I'm still thinking of because I'll forget about this because I'm tuned out,
Starting point is 01:14:02 but did you mention last night, day that happened in time for you to mention the firing of Barter Romo from Fox News. Oh, yeah, I didn't hear from you last night. I did mention it. And now we know why. She got shit canned for breaching her contract, for giving away sensitive internal information. Because when Fox sent down, when the word came down from Lackland and Rupy,
Starting point is 01:14:39 not to give oxygen to nitwit, Nero, barking and grunting about China stealing the, 2020 election. She turned right around and gave that information to the White House. I only noticed it because I saw, well, I said a couple months ago, Keith Overman took a lead from his podcast because he had a heart problem. He's been clear to come back. So he'll start regularly broadcasting again Wednesday, Tuesdays and Tuesday mornings and essentially Thursday mornings. But he did a special one last night about her and said he got fired from Fox for the same reason, but not
Starting point is 01:15:17 sort of the same reason. He had seen the, because in the day, Rupert owned, I think, the Los Angeles, one of the teams in Los Angeles, and they were failing, so he's going to sell them. And Keith had got wind of this and said he wanted to, you know, tell this story at Fox Sports. And he went to the head of the company, not Rupert,
Starting point is 01:15:39 because Rupert's on vacation, and said, listen, I have this story. I want to report on it because if I don't somebody will, and he said, but your ultimate say goes. If you say I can't do it, I won't do it because it's in my contract. And they said, oh, yeah, report it. Because Rupert wants everything important, blah, blah, blah, whatever, you know, this way.
Starting point is 01:15:55 As long as you put in all the, we didn't say this, we didn't do that, all cover their ass. Well, Rupert came back around and tried to fire him. And he said, because he was still did everything by the numbers. He said he did the exact opposite of what she has done. He kept his mouth shut and waited until his contract expired. So you get paid to sit out the next eight months, 800,000. she gets nothing because of what she did she's fired with cause
Starting point is 01:16:18 no money is owed her she's done all the money is turned off at this point she gets nothing good i hope it doesn't hurt too little yeah that's one of the stories i've gotten the stack for uh terra and me when we fill in from alloy later tonight on uh progressive voices on tune-in i'm not in a rush to go anywhere like to work but i'm going to let roger takeover because i need to use the uh...
Starting point is 01:16:46 retrooms but i'll be listening thank you okay hey roger i hope you enjoyed getting pickles last week. Blame that one on Jeremy. Yeah, well, I'm kind of lucky to be here tonight because tomorrow we've got a fermentation and pickling class over in Mapleton. And usually
Starting point is 01:17:05 when we go to Mapleton, we take the travel trailer and camp out the night before and then teach the class and come home. But since Oregon is getting a very rare September rainstorm, if I'm going to be
Starting point is 01:17:21 cooped up inside it in closed space I'm going to take my 1,600 foot square foot home rather than my 160 square foot trailer to avoid the raindrops. We'll get up early in the morning tomorrow,
Starting point is 01:17:39 leave here about 7. Go there at 8, start the class around 10, 93010, then come home when it's done. So I'm sitting here with the tablet open, the headphone on, and
Starting point is 01:17:54 enjoying the show. Well, glad to have you along for the evening. I'm surprised you didn't make comment on the picture I posted on your Facebook page. Hold on here, so I can. It was from earlier this week.
Starting point is 01:18:28 Okay. There you are. It's my teacup when I'm camping. I can't see it. That's weird. Oh, it's, it's, I just did a, you know, I put a post on your Facebook page, and it's a horn mug sitting on top of the griddle on a Coleman. Oh, I see it there.
Starting point is 01:19:06 Yeah, nice, nice. I figured you'd appreciate it. I mean, since you gave me the cup. Yes. Oh, that's wonderful. when you said photo on my page I thought it was going to be a picture of the pickled corn no no
Starting point is 01:19:28 that's in the fridge now I haven't tasted it and the salsa contest that I'm going to be using some of that corn in is this week when I open it up and taste it and if it's appropriate then
Starting point is 01:19:45 I would dare say for something like a corn salsa, I don't know if it would be appropriate, because it's going to have that same tartness that Crout does. Well, this is going to be actually a Pico de Gaio kind of Taco Tuesday. Oh, that might not be bad. Also, salsa contest. And I thought that, you know, last year, I won first place, but I kind of cheated on that
Starting point is 01:20:18 one because everybody else forgot it was the salsa contest night, and I was the only entrance. I really can't claim that as a first place. But I figured to make, I need to make mine a little bit different. And I'm quite sure nobody else is going to put in a bit of fermented sweet corn into their taco salsa. So I'm just trying for something different. It might work. I'm actually intrigued. I'll be curious to hear.
Starting point is 01:20:55 Yeah, I was thinking it would, you know, give a nice little, a little bit of a bite that isn't spicy, but give it a little bit different flavor and make it stand out from your typical cilantro, onion, tomato, lime juice. I think you're entirely right. Salters. So what out did y'all pickle last weekend? Oh, shit, what was it? I don't remember. They all run together.
Starting point is 01:21:30 It generally deals with power trout. And then this new leader we have likes to try new recipes. So we've done cauliflower and carrots and there was a three bean pickle
Starting point is 01:21:48 number that we did. Anyhow, it's whatever the recipe she comes up with, I end up going to do. This one tomorrow is a sourcrow and then a, not quite sure what the recipe is yet, but I know it's got red bell peppers, frozen corn, celery, and onions. And it's going to be some kind of a pickled number of that. But the sauerkraut, we're doing enough.
Starting point is 01:22:26 We got given a whole bunch of half-gallon jars, I mean, like a pallet of half-gallon jars. Actually, four pallets of half-gallon jars that have been distributed amongst the counties. And we ended up with a pallet and a half here. And so we're distributing out and getting people to make sourcrow in the half-gallon jars instead of the quart jars. Oh, we've got the jars. Why not? Cabbage is cheap. so people get more sourcrop
Starting point is 01:22:58 oh and I've been watching some reels and they're in German it helps my language study on some various dishes from German cuisine I saw some cabbage fritters deep-fried cabbage fritters earlier today
Starting point is 01:23:20 oh I wanted them so bad it was cabbage and carrots and some flour and egg to make it all stick together and you make little patties out of it and deep fry it there was a lovely dipping sauce for oh I was yeah that would be delicious I love cooked cabbage okay the one I've made and I'm thinking about making it for the Super Bowl party we speak of the Super Bowl party the peppers got stuffed to stuff to morning and they're in the freezer but um is what what I call sourcrow balls you you take and brown up some sausage you know pork sausage kind of stuff about pork iced up a little bit and then you take and mix in
Starting point is 01:24:16 sourcrow and some cream cheese I think it is and you make meatballs out of it and then you dip them an egg and a cornmeal on a number to give them an outer crust and then you deep fat fry them oh that sounds heavenly i would i would go i would go right after those they are real tasty uh i haven't made them in several years but uh it's it's one of those things i do every once in a while so uh and do you do a specific dipping sauce or anything or no I have it, but I mean, one could do something. Yeah, it's sloping cream cheese. And it also has onions, mustard, garlic, salt, and parsley in it.
Starting point is 01:25:14 This recipe has all-purpose flour or the, or dry breadcrumbs, or panco. Or here, dipping. There with a spicy mustard, Dijon, or a tangy horseradish dipping. sauce. I mean, that's just one of the recipes, but basically they're all the same. It's pork sausage, sourcrow, and sour cream to get it to hold together. And it's just, it just really taste good. Oh, they sound absolutely delectable. I could, I could, I could embarrass myself with something like that. I've got to check with Chris, whether or not he has an air fryer. And if he does, I can do all the cooking here, bring them up, let them thaw,
Starting point is 01:26:12 put them in the air fryer so the outer stays crisp and toasty, or I could just bring up everything and do the deep fat frying up there. But that's, you know, I'm sort of getting ahead of myself in the game here because the Super Bowl is not until February. Yeah, but the trick to great party planning is to plan well in advance. And if those things, well, the Ahi Amarillo freeze, the Sourcrap Balls freeze. Yeah. Well, I had to use jalapenos this year with the tough peppers because my Ahi Amarrio crop was not sufficient for me to scale. feel enough of my wife because she likes them to take to the party.
Starting point is 01:27:09 So I'll have to plant more plants next year to pull that off again. But I still don't have any ears of corn showing on my stock. Son of a gun! I got flower tops, but nothing poking outside to be it. I wonder if they require a specific pollinator beyond, you know, bees. Well, corn is pollinated by wind. Oh, true. True, true.
Starting point is 01:27:40 You get that top flower, and then the wind shakes it down, and it trickles down and hits the silk from the ear of corn. But when I saw the flowers coming out on top, I thought, yeah, pretty soon those ears are going to start showing on the side. They haven't started showing on the side, so I may just have grown some really tall cornstalks and not getting anything. We'll see. They usually don't really have ears of corn. until early October, so that's still a month away. It may happen. It may happen yet.
Starting point is 01:28:15 I didn't realize it was strictly wind-borne pollination. I mean, I know about all the lawsuits over Roundup Ready Corn and stuff, but I just remember walking among my corn, and the rows were fairly singing with bees bouncing from flower to flower to flower and just covered up with corn pollen. Well, I'm not saying that bees wouldn't like it, but the bee isn't going to take that pollen from the flower they're collecting to take back to the hive and jump down and dump it on an ear of corn.
Starting point is 01:28:49 There's nothing on that ear of corn that's going to attract the bee. I mean, the silk comes out of the end. Yeah, that's true. That's true, because you've got to go from the corn flower to the budding ear. Right. And it's all wind. and this is why when you plant corn you want to plant a patch of it and not a row or you want to put several rows together because if you just plant a one stock row whatever the side the wind comes from any ear of corn stalk
Starting point is 01:29:29 on that side of the corn stock isn't going to get pollinated because the wind's going to push it well some of them will get pollinated but you won't get full ears you got to have a dense stand to get good full ears fascinating oh what strange topics we get into yeah well i mean that's what makes the magic of uh friday on the front porch you just got a note roger from uh billable rick that would also be known who is also now known as juvenile delinquent number four Roger and the Super Bowl party
Starting point is 01:30:08 The NFL season doesn't start until this weekend Can you please tell Roger that they have to play the 2026 football season Before having the Super Bowl Yeah, but Billable, they will have the Super Bowl Well, unless Donnie starts a nuclear war Proper preparation prevents piss for performance Well, Billable is a lawyer So he can get lost in the pedantry of it all
Starting point is 01:30:44 I suppose. You asked a little earlier about if a nuclear war got started, would I get drunk or just wait for the flash? I'm not real sure which way it would go because I would hope that the flash would be very, very far distant from me. But then again, do I really want to live in a country that is falling apart? I mean, really falling apart. I don't mean just this bullshit we've gotten out. with the price of gas and high food costs and on that I'm talking about no food no infrastructure falling apart I'm just glad I've had a good 81 years so far so
Starting point is 01:31:31 a lot of people didn't have it made it as far as I have and I'm still walking on the days these are you pushing them up yeah you know you you see you sound great then I I guess there's a lot to be said for staying active like you do. Well, I try. I'm not as active as I used to be. I'm slowing down. I can't say anything else. I'm slowing down.
Starting point is 01:32:00 But when I was down there at Crater Lake, talking to the Pacific Crest Trail through hikers, made my heart feel good to know that I've hiked some of that trail. And not all of it like these guys are doing, but N-GALs. but I kind of relived some of my 40 plus years ago backpacking adventures as we were sitting out in front of the little store and I bought the six pack of beer and only drank one of them and the other people that were there drank the rest of them because I gave them to them.
Starting point is 01:32:38 But anyhow, I'm still keeping active. I did manage to finally eat a trout. Nice. Good? Yeah, it was great. Unfortunately, I didn't get to catch it, but there was an older couple, well, a rather old man and his daughter. I'd say he was probably at least 75.
Starting point is 01:32:59 She was at least in her 40s, early 50s. And they were fishing there. The pair of only caught one fish. The old man caught it. And when they were getting ready to leave after we'd bullshitted for a while on this fishing pier. He said, well, she needed at least four fish to feed the folks at home, and one wasn't going to be enough, and she didn't want to freeze it, and would I like it? And I said, thank you very much.
Starting point is 01:33:28 And so the next morning, I fried up this one, I was about an 11-inch trout, and went back to camp and fried it up, and six people shared that fish. But, you know, two grandkids, two kids, and then Patricia and I. And so we all got to taste of fish. And it tasted just as good as I remember fresh trout tasting, and I'm going to go hunting for some more. Sounds delightful. A fish over a campfire is something memorable. Well, I don't cook over the campfire anymore.
Starting point is 01:34:11 I cheat. I take propane stoves. Hence the griddle that I saw in the photograph. Yeah, well, that was for the French toast one morning and pancakes the next morning, so we glamp. We don't camp anymore. Well, yeah, what's the fun in going out in the woods and pretending you're homeless? No, live as nicely as you can. Yep.
Starting point is 01:34:41 I mean, I used to make the biscuits in the Dutch oven. Those are so good. Now that we have the camper, I make the biscuits in the convection of it in the camper. It's just too hard for me to bend down and tend a Dutch oven on the ground. Oh, yeah. I've got to get down on my knees to put the coals on and, you know, keep everything going and back up and all the rest of it. But with the propane stoves kind of stuff, I can do a lot standing up. And the convection of it, I don't have to guess at the temperature.
Starting point is 01:35:23 I just set the gauge at 375, and it's at 375. He is, Roger. Dutch oven and only the full hot air one time. Nice try, Jeremy. The only hot air in the Dutch oven is dependent upon the number of coals you have under and the number of coals you have on top. There are multiple versions of Dutch ovens, Roger, multiple versions. Well, the only versions I know are 8 inches, 10 inches, 12 inches, 14 inches, and 16 inches.
Starting point is 01:36:01 Roger, the juvenile delinquent is being a juvenile delinquent. Roxanne, that's all that counts. He knew what I was talking about. I'm going to have to pull this program over and deal with you, Jeremy. But I think that's the best thing I've ever had made in a Dutch oven over hot coals and with the hot coals on top and everything, and the bread dough ceiling, the lid is peach cobbler. I've been jones and for peaches, and the peach season is long.
Starting point is 01:36:34 gone. I did not have a decent peach all summer. And the other thing that kind of bugged me out of the growing season was the cantaloupes were not worth a dam this year. I bought them from several different, you know, brought in from several different locales, even the farmer's market, you know, we get a lot of Mennonite produce on roadside stands. here and not one of them was the you know that that that just delicious sweetness you expect from from a cantaloupe it was the same with the honey-dews it was a bummer but I'm really I'm really I'm really I'm really
Starting point is 01:37:27 Jones and bad for a peach or peach couple years ago I grew some honey-dew melons only to discover that my wife just doesn't like melons and And so I'm not growing them anymore. I mean, I like melons, but melons take up a lot of space in the garden, and I'm really limited on the place. Oh, yeah, the vines run all over the place. Yeah. Oh, by the way, speaking of vines running all over the place,
Starting point is 01:37:56 I have eight et teocasaman washed this year. And not this Saturday, but the following Saturday, we're doing a pressure canning class, and the Gettae Okasama and squash is going to be the low acid vegetable that we run through the pressure canning process. But I get to harvest, I get to harvest all the seeds. That's what I want is to replenish my seed stuff. Those are such a, I just love the story of that squash.
Starting point is 01:38:34 Yeah. I kept it going. and it's still for sale in the catalog the Baker Crooked heirloom seed catalog and I don't I did not buy their big book this year
Starting point is 01:38:51 but up through last year my name was still listed as the person that introduced it to the Baker Creek seed company oh cool the heirloom festival so
Starting point is 01:39:05 I have fun talking to people and given outseas to people to have them plant it and all that. But those vines flat and run. I mean, run, run, run. What I have also found out is that it, like the Roma tomato I grow, are very prone to blossom and rot, because apparently the soils up here don't have enough calcium in them. Or you have to amend your soil with calcium,
Starting point is 01:39:36 which is easy. It's just eggshells. But you have to grind him up and let him soak and put a little Epsom salt in with them and then water your supplemental water, your plants about every two weeks with the calcium water to prevent the blossom end drop, which really surprised me that, you know, I knew tomatoes got it. but I was unaware that squash also can have blossom endroch, which is strictly a mineral deficiency. It's not a disease. No, it's not a blight. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:40:20 Not fungal. Well, I see Tristan is with us this evening. Let's check in with Tristan. And by the way, college football starts this weekend, so there needs to be some college football nerdery this evening. this evening, I suspect. My beloved mountaineers will take on, I think,
Starting point is 01:40:43 coastal Carolina, and well, I take nothing for granted anymore. Hey, Tristan, how are you? I don't know if Tristan's away from this mic or... Hello, hello. Hello. Hi, Tristan.
Starting point is 01:41:06 How's it going? Sorry, I was muted. I'm using my laptop now. So, this is a new thing for me. Yeah, cool. Is it a learning curve? It's a little bit of a learning curve. How well can you hear me?
Starting point is 01:41:28 Am I sounding good? No, you sound, yeah, you sound like you're sitting right next to me. Oh, perfect. Yeah, I will. I'm using this, a microphone that I use for YouTube. I'm using it now. It's a cheap microphone, but it's good. It's the Samson Q2U microphone.
Starting point is 01:41:46 It's about $75. And it does. It works really well. Is it a USB affair? Yeah, it's both USB and XLR. They come with both cables. I don't really like them. It's a little too low for my personal tastes. I really wanted to get after that good, you know, the vintage sound, kind of like you have with the electro voice. But, I mean, that's way out of my price range right now.
Starting point is 01:42:18 So, for what it's worth, this is pretty good. Well, if you want to save up your nickels, another really, really good dynamic mic, the road, I think it's called the Procaster, but. Yes, I've heard of it. And I think it comes in at around $100, $125. The sure beta-58 is a hypercardioid. and so you've got to stay up on the mic but there's very little
Starting point is 01:42:55 there's very little extraneous noise because it's not just a cardio it's a hypercardioid so it's a really really tight pickup pattern I see beta 50 are you talking is that B-58 or I think it's not I think it's a beta 58 spelled out
Starting point is 01:43:13 by sure S-H-U-R-E Yeah I know I know I know sure um i know i know i know the s m 58 um the cool thing about this though is that you know and insure has some really good USB microphones i think it's the d db 7 i think um and the reason that i don't have i don't have like um an audio mixer yet is because well i don't have my desk is occupied right now and um i have a cat so i have to oh yeah i have to catify i have to catify it before i think about you know putting cables in and out and stuff like that and at least with this thing i can just i stuff it back in my backpack after i'm done using it um so well gone but not forgotten but
Starting point is 01:44:07 little miss moka used to have a thing for coming in and uh uh dancing swan lake across my mixer when I had a really had the really great big one in here. And she could fit, I could start the program. Why is the audio not going out? And well, Kitty had reprogrammed the desk. Whoopsie.
Starting point is 01:44:30 You know, I hear they make brackets nowadays for, for that very purpose. So you can kind of, well, make sure they don't tug anything out. So, you know, all this,
Starting point is 01:44:53 food talk, though, it got me thinking, I believe pomegranate season is just around the corner. I love pomegranates. Oh, absolutely. Okay, and when it comes to pomegranates, are you, well, I'm glad I stopped myself because that was about to sound very, very vulgar. Are you one for spitting out the pips,
Starting point is 01:45:22 or do you just not worry about it? I don't really worry about it it's not a big concern to me either they're not so bad you can see can you see why I stop myself yeah yeah I get it
Starting point is 01:45:41 yeah it's kind of like going back to juvenile delinquent number two in his Dutch oven remark yeah well you know sometimes we can't help ourselves you know it's like you begin a sentence
Starting point is 01:45:55 and it's like the most ordinary thing in the world and by the time you're over it's like, did I really say that? Did I really just say that? There's nothing to be ashamed about spitting in pits, Robin. Nothing to be ashamed about it. Nothing. What? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:46:13 Thank you for not making it. Thank you for not making it worse, Jeremy. Costco. I mean, you don't think you can drop my name and not have a consequence to you. The cool thing is when pomegranate season is around, um, Costco,
Starting point is 01:46:36 you can get a big box of about six pomegranate, six like big huge pomegranates. Hard as a rock, you could probably brain somebody with it if they, if they gave you a reason to. Um, 20 bucks for about six of them. And man, they are good.
Starting point is 01:46:54 They are so good. it. Oh, I love them. And, you know, when Christmas season rolls around, you know, the great big giant, at least they used to be good, the great big ginormous navel oranges that were just so sweet. Oh, yeah. But everything is suspect now, because like Ms. Micah said, at this point, Moscow Mitch McConnell is the only vegetable that hasn't been recalled. Yeah. Yeah. Well, thanks. Elon Musk. Thanks a lot. Who, by the way, is apparently having a shit hemorrhage?
Starting point is 01:47:39 Yeah, he's, well, I mentioned in yesterday's program that there's a new almost four-hour documentary about Leon Scum. And according to recent reporting, he is freaking out. over the release upcoming. It's going to debut at the Venice Film Festival. Some pre-screenings. I think the Hollywood Reporter and Variety have already seen it. But it's going to, it'll open at the Venice International Film Festival. Then it'll play to the Toronto International Film Festival.
Starting point is 01:48:26 And then it comes out in general release. My money says that it will not be brought to the Regal cinemas of Vienna, West Virginia. And I don't know if I've got it in me to watch four hours of a man that is not worth my own
Starting point is 01:48:51 spit. Yeah, it comes out in theaters on October the 16th. David Soroda, the journalist, said yesterday, the reason Elon Musk is freaking out about this upcoming documentary is because it's by Alex Gibney, one of the world's best accountability journalists, documentarians. Musk knows Alex doesn't pull punches, doesn't cower and won't be bullied, and so the bully is mad.
Starting point is 01:49:22 Goodness. And as I mentioned yesterday, Ashley St. Clair is in the documentary, and she shows on screen the text messages he sent about he's releasing the anomaly in the Matrix in advance of the 2020. presidential election. Musk, for his part, says, yeah, because he's, because he's just a wealthy, he's wealthy, but he's still a neo-maxy zoomed weebe.
Starting point is 01:50:10 He says, oh, this is a hit piece, and Gibney's a douche, man. So, you know, good. You know what? If you're that upset about it, Leon, take an extra big dose of ketamine, buddy.
Starting point is 01:50:32 that'll make you feel all better. A really, really, really big dose academy. Not saying, just saying. This is a funny, though. I wanted to make sure I shared this. Ralph sent this along earlier. So I mentioned in yesterday's program that upcoming in Dallas is the first ever maggot midterm convention.
Starting point is 01:51:14 and I said at the time more power to them I hope all the maggots are there and they're pulled off the campaign trail well here's the fun part and this is fun some Weisenheimer put up
Starting point is 01:51:41 a website and it looks an awful lot like the URL for the GOP's convention The only problem is if you go to that redirect, it sends you to the Epstein files. See, the official address for the maggot midterm convention is gopconvention.com, and the website is, the Epstein website is gop-dallas 2026.com, and it's a troll job. and it has the it has the the maggots up in an absolute uproar
Starting point is 01:52:41 because it's an SE, a search engine optimization site and so the it shows up that the the
Starting point is 01:52:55 Epstein website shows up in searches before the real maggot website does beautiful beautiful and bless their hearts over at the Lincoln Project they shared it out and the next thing you know it was on
Starting point is 01:53:18 it was one of the a maggot propagandist Hannah Brandt said if you try to visit the homepage for the Republican Midterm Convention heading in Dallas you get redirected to the DOJ's
Starting point is 01:53:39 Epstein file page a hack maybe Ted Looey for his part said, I just tried the website in the below description as of right now is accurate. Sort of awesome. Good, good. I hope it doesn't hurt too little.
Starting point is 01:54:06 Stoke the stroke, y'all. Stoke the stroke. Oh, and by the way, I got a note from Jude. A breathing space, she writes. You requested a joke, I heard a yearning from your heart, Robin, since it was rising from within you.
Starting point is 01:54:24 seeking a release from the myriad dire realities you're giving voice to. I guess the below is for you. Guess it's my Irish roots. Times long ago in my early childhood, my Aunt Charlotte would brush my hair at night, precious moments. I still have that set of a mirror, a brush, and a comb. Oh, how sweet. So, here's the riddle. And it's a terrible pun.
Starting point is 01:54:50 A terrible pun. Oh, Jude. What do you call an antique? comb used to make braids, buns, Celtic knots that's passed on from generation to generation. A hair loom. Oh, the llama just took it right on the chin, Jude. Thank you. Oh, and there they are.
Starting point is 01:55:22 Oh, how beautiful, Jude. What a, oh, what a precious thing to still have. somewhere around here we have a little girl's tea set and it's actual porcel in China but a little girl's tea set that belonged to my mama I guess she got it probably maybe for her birthday in 1929 right before the crash
Starting point is 01:55:54 before my grandfather's world fell apart and went to pieces. Well, yeah, see, I knew the juvenile delinquents would get it. Juvenile delinquent number one sent a message to juvenile delinquent number two. Ask Roxanne if she spits or swallows when it comes to pomegranates. Do your job, homie, said Asa. You people. You people.
Starting point is 01:56:33 Whatever shall I do, gracious. This is the second or third Friday when Maybe it's the end of summer or something But we've had a couple of the Rather sedate Fridays on the front porch Well, did you hear Roxanne the jobless numbers are in? Yeah Did you talk about that? I missed it.
Starting point is 01:57:10 No, I didn't, I didn't Yeah, well, you know, I made a video And I said, talked about how it really is used as a as a political football between the two parties. But I think what's really important in that Trump is going to ignore is that like, you know, prices are going up relative to inflation. And, you know, we're not able to pay for stuff anymore. So, you know. Yeah, it makes one's world smaller, Tristan. It really does.
Starting point is 01:57:47 Yeah. and the labor participation rate is down and you know people are people see what they want to see these days you know it's like and I was reading about um I think you cover this last week didn't you the police officers and uh flock basically
Starting point is 01:58:11 uh spying on their partners and ex partners and yeah it's a creepy cop's best friend yeah and But you have to wonder, you know, and I know you you know about this, but like, what does it say about policing in this country that people like that are carrying guns in our streets, you know? Well, yeah, absolutely. Although there was some good news, of all places, the city of Knoxville, Tennessee, has ordered all flock cameras to be removed. and that all data gathered by them must be destroyed
Starting point is 01:58:54 within a two-week period. Of course, I think that's wishful thinking that the Flock Corporation would do so, but it's, yeah, it's good. Yep, and several other cities, and Arizona has actually opened an investigation into Flock. This is all direct effect of the Patriot Act. That's all the city.
Starting point is 01:59:23 Oh, yeah, it's Patriot 2.0. Yep. Well, you know, you give authoritarian an inch, and, you know, they'll take a league. It's just how it is. Although, I've got a clip here, and I do not profess to have the... Oh, damn it, I thought I had the clip. Well, I guess I don't. But it was from a hearing in the Texas legislature.
Starting point is 02:00:03 where a computer genius said, you don't need data centers to do modern computing. He basically alleged that Palantir is so far behind the times that they require that massive computing power when the rest of the world is doing what he called distributed computing, and that the data centers are just a boondoggle, mostly for Palantir. Confirmation bias being what it is.
Starting point is 02:00:41 I'm perfectly willing to believe that. I hate it when I think I've saved a story and I haven't. Note coming in from Cynthia. Hi, Cynthia. And do we even fully trust, she asks, the jobs report under these lying bastards?
Starting point is 02:01:14 Oh, no. No. But, Tristan, your point that it's been a political football is very much true. going all the way back to old 666 himself, Ronald Wilson Reagan, they screwed around with the numbers. Reagan needed to make the employment, I'm trying to remember,
Starting point is 02:01:37 he needed to make the unemployment numbers look lower than they were, so they did what had not been done before and started including the United States military as an employer and members of the military as, employees and thereby boosted the numbers. And then there's the question of people who stop searching
Starting point is 02:02:01 for work, the people who just give up. They don't get counted either. Or at least to the best of my knowledge. Well, that's the labor participation rate, which has gone down to have a point in the last six months. So, you know, you're right.
Starting point is 02:02:24 And I just wonder, I mean, everything, this is, this is that old poem. The center will not hold. The falcon cannot hear the falconer. I've probably got that backwards, but yeah, I think it's called the New Jerusalem. And it just feels like, it feels like, it feels like we're, we're looking for the light at the end of the tunnel and it's a locomotive barreling out of control right for us. but as I've mentioned before, I think West Virginia remains one of only three states.
Starting point is 02:03:06 I'll bet Alabama is another one. One of only three states where nitwit Nero still has a positive approval rating. And for the life of me, I cannot figure that out. He promised coal jobs were coming back. Well, 70 miners just permanently lost their jobs. He was going to make coal great again. We have not seen black lung numbers in West Virginia like this since the early 1970s right after the very first black lung legislation was passed. Tens if not hundreds of thousands of people in this little state of about 1.7 million people do not have access to clean drinking water.
Starting point is 02:04:00 And the thing is, those people who don't have access to clean drinking water did one of two things. for the most part. They either didn't vote at all, or they voted for the reason they don't have clean drinking water. They voted for Trump. They voted for maggot members of Congress,
Starting point is 02:04:22 senators and members of the House alike. I'd like to say it's... I'd like to say it's inscrutable, but it's not. I'm sorry, Jeremy. It's not inscrutable. Again, cruelty is the point.
Starting point is 02:04:43 When you boil this all down and take everything else to table, food going up, gas going up, life becoming harder, it's still going to boil down to these people who accept him nationwide still is that he allows their hate to be vindicated and allowed. He seconds what they think. That's all they care about, being cruel to people who aren't like that. So then it's all hate. It's all hate-driven. That's all it is. Their children's rumbling bellies take second place? Their ability to be racists and bigots and xenophobes?
Starting point is 02:05:20 You're damn right, because if their kids complain, they'll disown them. They don't give a fuck about people. That's the whole point. You'll never get through these people. Their lost causes, like Clinton said, when she was running against them the first time. Deplorables. You can't get to them. You cannot get to them.
Starting point is 02:05:34 They cannot change their mind. And even if they'll stop talking about it, it doesn't change their mind. There's still the bigots underneath the skin. And you can expose bigots who hide well in public if you use the right words. It's easy them to do. All you have to do is scratch at the service, and bigotry will always come out. Like I said, the article about the church people this week, you know, people actually doing God's work, except thy neighbor, except the hungry, getting arrested from processing ice, and people saying their child blessers, good, get rid of them. Right there, there you go.
Starting point is 02:06:02 It's the hate. That's all that matters. It's the hate. He's allowed to foment and be strong. But they turn a blind eye to the, but they turn a blind eye to the, the real child molesters. I was talking with Miss Terry earlier today
Starting point is 02:06:15 and she was telling me about this repulsive gospel sharp down in Mobile, Alabama, who was so infuriated that there would be pride banners hung by the
Starting point is 02:06:30 city of Mobile to note Pride Month because there's a huge LGBTQ population on either side of Mobile Bay, Mobile County and Baldwin County. Well, this minister has started hanging banners of his own around Mobile, saying, Protect the children reject gender ideology. This is a preacher.
Starting point is 02:07:00 How divorced from reality does he have to be to not realize that more children are sexually abused on a daily basis across this country by members of the clergy, preachers, ministers, gospel sharps, priests, vickers, what have bishops, what have you, then are,
Starting point is 02:07:23 then, then, it's practically nil in the LGBT plus community, but oh my God, I would never allow any child of mine around a religious institution because it's almost a,
Starting point is 02:07:38 a goddamn guarantee that they will be sexually abused or that the odds of them being sexually abused will go through the roof. I wouldn't be surprised if Kalshian Polymarket would let you place bets on the likelihood of a child being sexually abused by a preacher. Over and over and over and over again. I mean, I understand that this is the reality. But I'm damned if I'm, it just won't compute. I think that, and I agree with you, Jeremy, but there's more to it. I think that what the Republicans have been able to do in any form.
Starting point is 02:08:33 You know, it's like when they were the Democrats back in the pre-Civil War days, they other people. They make it seem like the people, who are causing it are the people who are helping you and they they've made people believe that the people who are trying to help are the people who are hurting you you know i mean i can i can i am sure that there are people out there who think that biden is the reason that gas prices are up or obama i mean this is how far things have gone in the in the other direction where it's like people will find something to hate that isn't their
Starting point is 02:09:16 preferred person, especially with Trump, because it's a cult. And you can't escape the cult and you can never question the orthodoxy. Yeah. And it was a cult long before Trump, let's be clear. You know this. We all know this. Trump's just the latest cult leader. Do you really think, do you really think
Starting point is 02:09:47 the loyal Bushies were as bad? I mean Not all of them But there were some some of them who were pretty awful I mean there were there were Elements of what What the Republican Party became It wasn't as widespread
Starting point is 02:10:06 As it is now But it was I mean You know it was it was there I'm gonna I'm gonna pick a fight with Tristan in a small way To say it wasn't To say This isn't really a new thing
Starting point is 02:10:21 this whole idea of this is due because of Trump isn't necessarily true either. This has always been there. It's just been well hidden underneath the surface. This hate is nothing new. Like I said before, if you knew where to scratch in the past, you could bring the hate out of people.
Starting point is 02:10:37 I've brought the hate out of people just by saying, hey, let's not use certain words in conversations, and they start screaming things like, I'm not a racist, I'm not a homophobe, I don't hate Jews. And I said, I never fucking said that. all I said was hey can we stop saying who's at you and who's not and start using the F word and I'm
Starting point is 02:10:56 not and I'm not I'm not this I'm not and Linzogram was one of those people it's there it's embedded in them you cannot get rid of it it's it's a deep human thing and I don't know the 24 news cycle the internet social media COVID not that COVID did damage in its own way to people's psyche and for some reason you cannot separate this from people and it's there and it's it never wasn't there it's been a way of life but unfortunately it's been emboldened by these bastards but it's never not been there it's been a part of human nature forever and not know if we'll ever get rid of it it's just been exacerbated by this fucking menace argument here and it wasn't really an argument it was just fine-tuning what he said by saying it's always been there but yes it's always been here it's it's something that will i don't think we'll ever get rid of it we have to learn to deal with it and put it back unfortunately back in the closet to use a term unfortunately a term they can use put it back where it's less vis- visible, but we know it's there. I mean, my dad has told me for years. I mean, he's seen all that.
Starting point is 02:12:01 I've been with him and seen things happen that don't happen to me in public. I mean, and it's just, he says it just, I said, how do you deal with this? He said, you just learn to live with it. It's a thing. He says, hate and ignorance and people being suspectful because of what they've heard through the generation, people saying this about certain kind of people, what they look like, well-dressed or not, the hate is there. You just need to find a way to scratch that itch, and it comes out to the surface.
Starting point is 02:12:25 And Trump has found a way to masterfully do this and put it on full blast in public, where people are not ashamed anymore. And I like to always point out to people, in a way, I'm kind of happy that people fly certain flags now so openly. It tells us you are great. That's wonderful. But also the things they post on the Internet. They think it's a one-off. No, what you put on the Internet is forever.
Starting point is 02:12:47 The Internet does not die as far as we know. So from now on, you're marked for saying that whether you think you deleted or not. It's still there somewhere. There's a copy of it somewhere. It'll come back to haunt you sooner later. And it's a worldwide thing, too, you know. Even the most progressive countries on the planet like Germany, who have done more for their people in the last 30 years than we have in the entire history of our country,
Starting point is 02:13:16 or Sweden and Denmark, where the most left-wing countries have been for the last 80 years, they still have that hate. there's a virulent anti-immigrant anti-Muslim you know political movement going on in Europe and it's corrosive it's infecting the entire world now
Starting point is 02:13:44 it's like my favorite quote and I've told Aces of this several times and he laughs because he likes the movie too so I'm not outing him for this but there's a scene when the bad guy and bad toy two Johnny Tapia kills his own nephew because he essentially disobeys him and his mom sees the nephew fall doesn't know what happens and Johnny Tap it looks like
Starting point is 02:14:09 mom religion it fucks them up it's the best quote ever it just is because his mom's a strict Catholic and is praying for him as he falls off the deck religion it fucks them up how much can you say it does it screws with her head that also emboldens their hate because of their weird beliefs even though their beliefs say the exact opposite of what they're really reading in that Bible
Starting point is 02:14:30 well then the new the gospel at least, stand in direct contravention of everything. Well, they say that they believe, but their actions betray that they do not. Exactly. They could always find a part of the Bible that backs up their beliefs, so that's just how the Bible is, unfortunately. It's cherry-picking. Literally the oldest trick in the book. well i was like the argument that muslims are inherently more violent than christians are
Starting point is 02:15:23 no they're not the same thing what's different things that have been done i mean i up until nine eleven who was the biggest terrorist in america a white christian naturalist timid mcvay he killed two thousand where was it several couple thousand people or something i wasn't thousand whatever it was in oklahoma city but men women children you name it he did it as a white christian Like, I have, I used to be one of those hard sort of atheist types who said, you know, Islam is the mother load of bad ideas. And it doesn't hold up. When you actually start reading the Quran in English, which is an imprecise way to read it, you know, it's just like any old book, you know. It's like any other book of religious hagiography and myth.
Starting point is 02:16:15 Yeah. And even though the three Abraham of the three Abrahamic religions, Islam is the youngest, it still, you know, Islam's the youngest, Christianity is the middle child, and Judaism is the firstborn. It all traces back to Bronze Age, concepts that in many instances have no business in modern life.
Starting point is 02:16:57 Some truths are eternal. If you want people to be nice to you, be nice to them. Don't do things to people that you would hate to have done to you. You know, when the Roman Catholic priests arrived with the invader and genocidalist Cortez in the Valley of Mexico, They were surprised to see priests standing atop the temples there in black robes that were caked in blood because they were forbidden from bathing. They must have been fun to be around. And their robes were caked in blood from human sacrifice. But lo and behold, they were astonished.
Starting point is 02:17:49 They had a translator. her name was Malinche and she translated what the priests were saying and for all intents and purposes they were repeating the ten commandments and so
Starting point is 02:18:07 the Catholic priests were like oh wow we you know we talk about how the Mormons say wow you know Jesus came and talked to the Indians too Oh, please. But the Catholics did that too
Starting point is 02:18:25 because they also saw cross, cruciform imagery in the carvings that those people made. They had nothing to do with Christianity and it had nothing to do with ancient Israelites or anything like that. What happens is that,
Starting point is 02:18:45 evolutionarily speaking, as cultures evolve, they develop certain rules like obey your parents don't murder other people don't steal other people shit because that's how an organized society operates and of course being dumber than goddamn dirt
Starting point is 02:19:10 those Roman Catholic priests of course had no knowledge of the code of Hamarabi which has the same many of the same rules as the so-called Ten Commandments, whichever version you, because there's a slew of them throughout the Old Testament. But the Code of Hamarabi was much, much more granular in nature,
Starting point is 02:19:37 and Hamarabi ordered that it be carved into steli and placed in public areas so that people could read the laws of the realm and know them. including obey your parents don't steal shit don't screw your neighbor's wife and you know other things
Starting point is 02:20:07 like don't fuck the farm animals just a gentle reminder that cultures don't come up with laws like don't fuck the farm animals unless some some cletus is out there fucking the sheep because they did but it's it's all just evolutionary it's not magic
Starting point is 02:20:32 and the bronze age stuff yeah the basic rules are fine but they are not sufficient to the modern day no the value of pie is not three like it says in the Old Testament no
Starting point is 02:20:51 the sun does not stand still in the sky because it doesn't revolve around the earth, although the New Testament says it did. It's, it's, it's mythology. Just the same as the stories coming out of ancient Greece. Our mythology, the stories coming out of, you know, the ancient Hittite empire, are Bronze Age mythology. Because they all have a sky daddy in them. and frankly the first religions so to speak they were cults were not skydady cults
Starting point is 02:21:37 the first icons we find in stone age burials are of women the mother the great mother women who either adolescent or of childbearing years and those mother goddesses are big and pregnant or the post-menopausal goddesses who are, and this is not a slur, the crone, C-R-O-N-E,
Starting point is 02:22:15 because those, the elder women, were the ones who transmitted the intergenerational wisdom. And somewhere along the way, that got thrown to the side. In fact, there's a passage in Genesis that talks about when Abram and his sky daddy overthrew his wife, Sarai, who was a priestess in her own right, overthrew her Earthmother cult. Sorry, didn't mean to do that, but I did. I nerd sometimes. I can't help it.
Starting point is 02:22:54 Well, and you brought up the fact that their mythology, and I think what people often, you know, they reflexively, react with offense, but like, for my point of view, it's just because their mythology doesn't make the insightful parts any less insightful or the valuable parts any
Starting point is 02:23:14 less valuable. Yeah, assuming that there's some particular value to be assigned to it that wouldn't otherwise have been come up by, come up with by some other culture similarly situated.
Starting point is 02:23:30 These are all Bronze Age cultures. The same rules applied, I'm sure, in Bronze Age Japan, Bronze Age China. Indigenous people in the Americas never quite got. They were on the verge in Mexico of the Bronze Age. But the Spanish put paid to that when they genocided an entire culture, multiple cultures. But basic rules are basic rules. look both ways crossing the trail don't talk to strangers
Starting point is 02:24:11 but if a stranger does come by feed them be kind to them because you never know that might be a god I mean it is what it is by the way coming in from Georgian Corsegold who said on this Labor Day weekend
Starting point is 02:24:37 let's remember the unions who brought us fair wages paid vacations weekends off workplay safety, etc. And an entertaining film to watch is The Cradle Will Rock, All Power to the People, release the Epstein files, all of the above. I'll probably find time this weekend to watch Mate Juan. And it's a good segue for me to note.
Starting point is 02:25:07 And, you know, they're members of this community who never even heard Bossman Wayne's voice. And he's been gone for. years now. I miss him horribly. But today would have been his birthday. He would have been 82, having been born in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania in 1944. So I mentioned Bossman Wayne at the end of every program because of what he did to make the horn get started and stayed with along all the years and all the belief that he showed in the community that we might hope to build here and which we are still trying to build so yeah that's why i mentioned boss van wane
Starting point is 02:26:07 and his darling wife jena at the end of every program and what a labor oh my god give me give me a thousand wayne reviches and it's like that old saying
Starting point is 02:26:23 give me give me a lever big enough and I'll move the world you give me a whole bunch of boss man wains and well even with just one boss man
Starting point is 02:26:37 Wayne workers in west Virginia are so many workers are so much better off for what he did with his life as he lived and worked it. So, yeah, thanks for the
Starting point is 02:26:53 reminder, George. And George adds Trump and Hegeseth sabotage. An army unit in Europe was ordered to stop developing drones for combat with all the billions sent to the Pentagon. They can't afford to fund this vital war fighting tool. Back
Starting point is 02:27:09 to the steam age. Oh, hell yeah. And that reminds me of a little bit of good news. And frankly, there's an element of it. It's kind of humorous. The story comes from the telegraph in the U.K., so, but apparently, and since we were talking about, we've talked about two separate children's hospitals here in the United States this evening,
Starting point is 02:27:34 well, a butcher, a Russian general, suspected of ordering the 2024 attack on a children. Children's Hospital in Ukraine got two bullets to the head. And this is one of those journalism moments that drives me a little bit crazy. Because I'm looking at this corpulent bastard, hopefully roasting in hell now, if there is one.
Starting point is 02:28:09 Here's the verbiage from the Telegraph article. Major General Nikolai Varkovych was shot twice by unmanned assailant on motorbike in a village in southwestern Russia, according to telegram channels with connections to Russian security services. I admit, there are times when maybe I'm just breezing through an article, do I use this one? Do I have to throw this one away? Whatever. But there's a picture of this, this, this, this, this, this,
Starting point is 02:28:45 rotten bastard, uh, accompanying the article, uh, this murderer of children. And I'm looking at him with his great jowly cheeks hanging down and dripping onto his neck.
Starting point is 02:29:03 And the first thing I think is, how big a motorcycle did that motherfucker need to be able to ride it? Because, well, because your humble hostess sometimes, uh, is not quite the, nowhere of words that she should be
Starting point is 02:29:21 because when I read Major Nikolai Varpovich was shot twice by an unknown assailant on a motorbike in a village in southwestern Russia my brain read that as this this this bloodthirsty motherfucker was on a motorcycle no it was
Starting point is 02:29:39 of course not it was an assassin on a motorcycle who came by him busted two caps into his brains and then drove on and he was the commander of the 22nd heavy bomber aviation division of the Russian Air Force and the air base that he commanded was the source the source from which they mother Russia launched its barbaric attacks on that children's hospital
Starting point is 02:30:25 hospital in Kiev. Three people died there. A child and a doctor, some people couldn't get out because they were, when the evacuation warning came, the alert came, they couldn't because they were in surgery. So, enjoy hell, general. My apologies for thinking you're, you were on a motorcycle. oopsie but we hardly even talk about the Ukraine war anymore and that's both terrifying and shameful okay quiet people oh program note
Starting point is 02:31:46 I will be on the air Monday night for Labor Day so if you were thinking I might be a rerun no no well it's always nice to know that our humble oosters doesn't take days off
Starting point is 02:32:09 I mean you know just think what would happen if you considered yourself the equal of Mitch McConnell. Let's not hurry me along, Roger. Oh, I'm just saying that, you know, here's a man who's fought against sick leave, fought against increase of the minimum wage, and now has decided that he can disappear for some 40-odd days, and still collect his paycheck, still keep everybody on his staff, even though it's clear they're not doing a goddamn thing because he won't even
Starting point is 02:32:48 provide proof of life yeah i i mean i think he i think it's fair to call moscow mitch a layabout at this point but his status as to being among the quick is certainly subject to debate i'm just congratulating you i'm not taking a day off i know thank you roger on a federal holiday
Starting point is 02:33:18 hardest hardest hardest working hardest working woman in progressive talk and I will I will happily own that thinking of women in progressive talk has anybody heard how Randy Rhodes is doing I guess not
Starting point is 02:33:46 yeah that's a no for me she's in remission she beat it so far well I guess you remember beat it she's in remission as far as I know for my herd so she had a really good outcome but I think she's staying out of all this for her
Starting point is 02:34:02 health, at least for the foreseeable future, unfortunately. Well, speaking of cancer, I think anybody that ever says they were cured is not using the correct terminology. Everybody that's had cancer, including me, has been made fully aware that it goes into remission, but you need to always keep an eye open or recurrence. Whether it be skin cancers, they'll show up someplace else. Prostate cancer can go to the bones. Breast cancer can metastasize into any organ of the body.
Starting point is 02:34:45 So it's in remission. It's not cured. My first wife beat it three times, and on the fourth one, she said, I could send me to hospice. She just didn't want to go through the fight again. She was like, oh, I guess she was 79 then. might have been 80 um but it was pancreatic cancer this time see you had bone cancer kidney cancer bladder cancer and then pancreatic cancer and uh it was the pancreatic that she just said no i'm done
Starting point is 02:35:21 i'm not going through that whole chemo route again and all the rest of it i'm just glad i got to say goodbye yeah yeah there there's there's no cure one must remain forever vigilant after a diagnosis. I have about seven years out of now, so, you know, I'm, my prognosis is good, but I'm still keeping an eye on it. Got to, got to. My mom was diagnosed in 1972, survived breast cancer. It didn't move. It didn't go anywhere. and lived another 25 years, and it wasn't cancer that came back.
Starting point is 02:36:23 But she got checked out annually to make sure it hadn't shown up anywhere else. Well, my grandmother on my mother's side was one of the really lucky ones. Sometime in the 1920s, she had a breast removed because of breast cancer. And she lived up into the 1960s. And she, she, I, I don't remember exactly what was written on her death certificate, but it wasn't cancer. It was just old age and a body wearing out from raising kids. Let's see, her last child, the youngest one, was born in 1912. And when she came here in 196, he had.
Starting point is 02:37:24 had two children and then my mother was the third. And she was a stay-at-home, take care of the family wife, her entire life. Well, not her entire life. She started out being a school teacher when Queen Victoria was sitting on the throne. Oh, wow. And then she got married, she got married so she couldn't continue teaching because only female. Men could be married and teach, but females, now, you had to quit teaching. and as soon as you got married.
Starting point is 02:37:59 And they were married in 1899. And anyway, she had cancer and they took out the lymph nodes and the whole nine yards. And they managed to contain it then. And there wasn't any chemotherapy or anything. So it was strictly on the surgery side. And it's just you got, I think she got cured of it that everybody. else in my mind it only goes into remission. I also think that's a byproduct of a better understanding of what cancer is.
Starting point is 02:38:42 It could very well be. I'm not a doctor and I don't play one on TV. I just try to keep track of my own health issues and take care of myself with that. You've just got a note coming in from Jude, Roger. Jude said Ah yes Our Roger As a retired hospice nurse
Starting point is 02:39:10 What you just shared with all of us Is a very vulnerable and open My best in tender care to you and yours Thank you Jude Thank you Jude Well we are Very close To the end of the program
Starting point is 02:39:37 And I think I'm going to start my Labor Day weekend a little early Of course the back porch will begin at some point, usually after 8 p.m., after the program goes off the air. And that can get to be a rousing conversation. I hope it is this evening. Don't forget, Tara and I will be filling in for Mike over at Progressive Voices at 9 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time.
