And today, we are talking about something that can profoundly impact your daily performance. It is simple, but if you implement it every day, it will be the difference that makes all the difference. And today today we're talking about three of the most powerful thoughts that you can have three ways that successful people talk to themselves they don't listen and you know our thoughts are so important our thoughts direct everything we do
Starting point is 00:00:56 they are the most important factor in our success and in our failure and that's a bold statement I know it but I can make that bold statement because everything we do starts with a thought. Successful people talk to themselves. They don't listen. And they talk to themselves in a powerful and productive way that keeps them on task and believing in their future. Now what kind of thoughts should we avoid saying to ourselves? These are thoughts like I won't, I can't, I don't know how, man I wish I could. They're not powerful. They do not lead to success because you are focused on what you don't have instead of what you do have. Instead of focusing on what you can't, you want to focus on what you can do.
Starting point is 00:01:45 So there are three powerful thoughts we're going to talk about today and they also start with I. The first powerful thought is I will. I will is a statement about what you will do. A positive change or intention. Something that you want to make happen and you intend to do. It's a success prophecy. For example, you might say, I will start my own company. I will run a 5K. I'll be more loving with my family. I will act more confidently today.
Starting point is 00:02:20 Or I will play big this weekend. I will, my friends, is the first powerful thought. The second powerful thought is I can. And I can is a statement about your potential, what you can do, a positive statement about your ability to accomplish your goals, not anyone else's goals. It's a belief in your power and something that you can do. How about I can stop smoking. I can build a million dollar company. I can reach a higher level in my field. I can move up in my company. I can kick the ball straight. I can throw the ball with accuracy or I can run fast and powerful. And the third, man, the third is the most powerful of them all. That is I am. These are statements about who you are. They are statements that describe traits that are already inside you. Sometimes we just need to discover these traits.
Starting point is 00:03:26 Or frankly, remember that we have them. To consider your I am statements, think about your strengths. Take a personal inventory of your talents or your best attributes. Think about what your coach would say. What would your parents say? What would your best friend say? How would your significant say? What would your best friend say? How would your significant other describe you? Those are great clues on what should
Starting point is 00:03:51 come after the I am statements. So think about what makes you unique. What makes you you. How about I am passionate. I am resilient. I am incredible at my work. I'm amazing at connecting with people. I'm committed. I am strong and powerful. I am, my friends, that is the most powerful statement of them all. So take out a piece of paper and write three statements. One, I will.
Starting point is 00:04:24 The second, I can. And the third, I am. And why not every single day start your morning with writing one I am statement, one I can statement, and one I am. This will direct your focus to who you are, the impact that you can make in the world and what you intend to do. I will, I can, I am. It is simple, but the impact is profound.
