Good morning. Thanks for having me today.
Right. I am so excited that you're here. It's always nice to have another voice when TJ is gone.
I love it.
Thanks for coming in. Sindra's wearing a beautiful blush pink color. That looks really nice on you.
It's springy. Thank you for saying that.
It is very springy, isn't it? Pull your mic up a little bit. She's on my microphone, so it's a little bit different than the one that she's normally using.
But what are we talking about today for High Performance Mindset?
Today we're talking about bringing positive energy and how to do that.
And I thought it was a great topic for a Monday morning.
So I'll start with the quote.
And this is an anonymous quote, but I think really powerful.
It says, you give life to what you give energy to.
That's so true. It is absolutely true.
So you've got an example to start with. So when I thought about the theme of my work this week,
and where I've spoken, and then what I did yesterday, and Saturday, I was watching my son
play baseball. So his first baseball game of the season, and there were times where they had a lot
of positive energy, and then times where they were really quiet and the more energy that they played or the played with the better they played and the
coach said in the first two games one guy brady didn't get a hit and then he said he was going to
buy them all hot dogs oh if he got a hit as you could imagine nine and ten year olds went crazy
when brady got a hit right um and what i Nailga Hot Dogs, is they could do more with that energy.
Right.
So we're talking about, what are we exactly talking about today about energy?
So we're talking about how energy is everywhere and your thoughts are loaded with energy.
Your positive energy grows from your thoughts, especially when you're focusing on gratitude,
happiness.
Your vision for the future is what's going to give you a positive energy, where behaviors
like complaining or blaming or focusing or thinking like a victim decreases
your energy. So why does this matter? And is this in your book? Yes, it's really the focus of
practice seven and beyond grit. And I think what's really interesting is there's quite a bit of
research that I summarize in that chapter about just performance. And we know high performing
teams have like an 85% positivity percentage.
That means like 85% of what they're saying
or their actions are positive.
And when you thrive,
you have a 75% positivity percentage.
And the opposite is really interesting
is that low-performing teams
have a 29% positivity percentage.
And when you don't thrive,
you only have a 25%.
So your energy really does make a difference in terms of your performance,
but also just how you feel and how you're thriving throughout your day.
You're not getting stuff done unless you're being positive.
So how do you get more positive energy?
So the first thing I would say is to wake up to your energy.
And what I mean by that is just notice it.
And this week I was talking to the Mankato girls lacrosse team.
Oh, good.
And we did a fun wave, and then we talked about, oh, that stands for waking up.
And it means like waking up your actions and your voice.
Okay.
Creating energy with just smiles or compliments or saying, hey, I like your pink jacket today.
Oh, I did that.
Yeah, you did that.
Or nice play, things like that.
Okay.
And we want to make sure that our positive energy is greater than anyone else's negative energy.
Because the negative energy will always be there, but you can decide, you know, if you notice it and if you focus on it.
And you can feel positive and good no matter what's going on around you.
So how do you think we can apply this to us?
I think besides waking up our energy, I think the key is to remember that your focus determines your feelings.
And what I mean by that is that whatever you pay attention to, you feel.
So today, focus on what gives you positive energy.
Focus on what makes you feel grateful.
Focus on the good.
The bad and what's not there will always be there.
But when you focus on the good, that's what you give energy to and that's what you give life to.
Excellent. How do you summarize it for us today? So high performers commit to bringing positive energy. They wake up to their energy, and they bring more positive energy than anyone's
negative energy, and they create energy by determining their focus. Awesome. So what's
the power phrase for this week? I commit to bringing positive energy. I will focus on the good today.
I will focus on the good today.
I will focus on the good today.
Oh, thank you so much.
Thanks for having me today.
