Good morning, Sindra. Good morning. It's great to be here. Great to have you in and have a topic today that will help a lot of people out on a Monday, I think. Three powerful questions to change your life.
Starting point is 00:00:53 That's a pretty powerful statement in and of itself right there, right? All right. So let's start with a quote like we always do. This is a quote by Tony Robbins. He said, quality questions create a quality life. Successful people ask better questions as a result, they get better answers. Cool. All right. So the example to start with. So last week I was speaking in Stillwater, Minnesota to a group of school administrators and principals, and it was the second of four workshops that we're going to do.
Starting point is 00:01:15 And the administrators, just like us, can experience stress. You know, so many things that they can't control, like parents, us, student behavior, maybe the amount of phone calls or emails they get in one day. But they can always control their focus, which determines their feelings. And our feelings are directly connected to the quality of our life and our performance. So just like us, they can control their focus. All right. So what are we talking about today in regards to these three questions? Well, in my book, Beyond Grit, we talk about how we can really choose empowering emotions.
Starting point is 00:01:48 And what you've given your attention to is really key. So the question is, or really the questions we ask determines our performance. And these questions determine who we are, what we're capable of, what is achievable or not. And it's really easy to ask disempowering questions like what's wrong with the situation or what's wrong me? Or why can't I ever get this right? Or why can't we ever get this right? But that doesn't lead to us being at our best. So today we're going
Starting point is 00:02:13 to talk about three types of questions that helps you really change your life. And these are the three G questions. The three G questions. All right. So what's our first G question? The first type of questions are growing through questions. So these types of questions we want to ask when we're experiencing adversity or a problem or an issue. Growing through questions could be like this. What good can come from growing through this right now? Or what's the opportunity here? Or how is the situation a gift?
Starting point is 00:02:44 And these questions really help us see the opportunity despite the difficulties we experience. And the quicker we can ask ourselves these questions when we're experiencing adversity, the better. So kind of looking for the silver lining, a lot of people will say, right? What am I here to learn? Yeah. How can I grow through this? Yeah. So what's the second type of question that we should ask ourselves? The second type is daily gift questions. And these would be questions that I would suggest everyone asking at least once per day to help us appreciate all that we have and all the great people and opportunities that we have in our life. Even if you're striving for more, like more opportunities on your team or a promotion? You know, these questions every day
Starting point is 00:03:25 help us build and generate momentum. So these questions would include like, what is going right in my life right now? What am I happy about right now? And what is wonderful about my life right now? Kind of like a gratitude journal type thing. People do those gratitude journals. Absolutely. And this would be just like noticing the small things every day. Which leads us to the third type of question, which has to do with gratitude. And these are gratitude questions. So these types of questions help us really feel gratitude, which is the perfect antidote to negative emotions
Starting point is 00:03:57 because we can't feel gratitude and fear or gratitude and anxiety or gratitude and anger at the same time. So these questions would be, you know, how can I be grateful for, you know, what I have or what can I be grateful for related to my work or to my life or my sport? Or what personal or professional progress have I made that I can be grateful for? Do we have to ask these questions in this order? Because here's where I'm looking at that. You were talking about the daily gift question and I was kind of playing the pessimist here. What if I can't come up with what I'm happy about right now?
Starting point is 00:04:32 Like I'm sitting there and I'm struggling with it, and I'm like, what am I happy about right now? Well, then maybe you need to skip ahead to what am I really grateful for? And then go back to, okay, maybe that's what's making me happy. I don't know, but I just feel like along the way there, you might hit a roadblock, and maybe that's a whole other topic for another day. Yeah, I think you can ask these when you feel like the time is right. But I think asking yourself these powerful questions
Starting point is 00:04:53 every day is really helpful. But I think especially the first one, like the growing through, would be like any time you're experiencing difficulties. And guess what? There's a lot of things we can be grateful for. Like, we're alive. Yeah, that's true. Just be grateful for that. Yep. All right. Going to work. Right. Do you have a final, a final point for us? I do. If you ask yourself
Starting point is 00:05:12 these questions routinely, you'll begin to frame the way you see the day completely different. And rather than feeling, you know, being determined by these external forces that we can't control and, you know, letting our feelings be shaped by the uncontrollables, you can shape the world around you and how you experience it. All right. So in summary today, how do we put this all together? High performers ask themselves really powerful questions to shape the way they experience the world. And this helps them generate momentum and energy. And they ask themselves these three powerful questions. So growing through daily daily gift questions, and gratitude questions. And our power phrase for this week?
Starting point is 00:05:49 I ask myself powerful questions each day to create the life I want.
