Let's bring on Sindra.
And Sindra Kampoff in studio with me this morning. Good morning, Sindra.
Good morning. How's it going?
Well, other than digging out from all the snow, which I didn't do, actually,
I'm not going to complain. My husband did all of that for me. But, you know,
that was a lot of snow.
It was a lot of snow. We had to go to New Ulm yesterday to a basketball tournament.
So we had to get out there right away and clean it up.
And driving all of that, and holy cats.
Logan said there's like six feet of snow in Mapleton in the middle of the streets.
Yeah, they had to do the deal where it's mounded up in the middle
and then they'll truck it out of town today.
Absolutely.
It's taller than I am.
Not that that takes much.
Okay, I'll make the joke for you.
That's not hard to do.
It's high Performance Mindset.
Cinder Kampoff in with ways to be more confident.
I was thinking about this as I'm just fresh off dancing with the Mankato Stars where I witnessed a multitude of people on stage stepping out of their comfort zone and having to call on some confidence.
And I was thinking about you and you've danced and you've been in that position before.
And there's a place that you must go to.
Yes.
In order to be able to do that.
I think about when I did it several years ago, I had to really work on my confidence every day
because it was something that I am not used to doing in terms of dancing.
And then dancing in front of thousands of people.
It was really scary for me. So every day when I was practicing, I had to work on my confidence. So we've got a
quote this morning from a lady we've already talked about a couple of times today. Oprah Winfrey said,
it is the confidence in our bodies, minds and spirits that allows us to keep looking for new
adventures, new adventures. So what inspired the topic today? Well, several people have asked me
recently, you know, if there's one thing that you could
develop in a person or an executive or an athlete, what would it be?
And my answer has been confidence because I think it's the foundation of us being at
our best every day.
And really what I mean by confidence is just the belief and trust in your ability, like
the certainty that you're going to be successful.
Now, this should be obvious as to
why confidence is important. But for somebody like me, who I kind of understand why, but can't put
it into words, why do we need to have confidence in our everyday lives? Yeah, we know that we need
it, right? Because it's actually a really strong predictor of our performance every day. And it
impacts how we perceive everything that happens in our life, like in sport or in business or
within our family.
And we know that confident people actually work harder. They set more challenging goals.
They can shine in a moment like dancing with the stars, even if they haven't done something like
that. And they're grittier. So those are all the reasons we want to really work on our confidence
every day. So you've got a couple of ways for us to work on to improve our confidence. What's the
first? I think the first is just realizing that it does take daily nurturing.
And I think we might see that, you know, these executives or these pro athletes or, you know,
that they we might think that they don't lack confidence, but that's incorrect.
They do.
And when I ask people, like when I'm working one on one with them, you know, and I ask
them, tell me about, you know, your accomplishments or what are things that you've achieved?
Many of them don't have that in the front of their memory.
They have to really think about it.
And I think the point is, is that, you know, our past experiences and our accomplishments
are a great way for us to build our confidence, but we need to remember them.
And most people don't have those in the front of our memory.
We're not thinking about them often.
And what is the second way we can go about improving confidence?
The second way is to what I'm going to call put on your confidence armor.
And what I mean by that is when you have your armor on, you're really able to take feedback and instructions, sort of like a text message, right?
You don't really know.
You're just taking the content.
And I think sometimes we can allow other people to really impact our confidence without realizing it's really our decision.
So we don't need to let teachers or coaches or friends impact our confidence.
We can still decide.
So is this like taking their criticism?
Yeah, their criticism or their feedback or maybe even their instructions.
More like a text message instead of taking it personally.
And that can impact our confidence.
How do you summarize today?
I'd say high performers know that confidence does take daily nurturing.
They remind themselves of their past achievements to build their confidence,
and they put their confidence armor on and protect their confidence.
All right. So your power phrase today? I choose confidence. I nurture my confidence to be at my best for myself, my family, and my team.
Excellent. I think that's a lot.
A lot of people putting their confidence
armor on with Dancing with
the Mankato Stars. Absolutely.
That was really cool to see. I had to put it
on yesterday to shovel all the snow.
No doubt. I think that was just a
jacket and a hat. It might be
something totally different. Cinder Kampoff,
